Reasons To Remain A Loyalist Essay
Reasons to Remain a Loyalist The American Revolution, mostly known as the War of Independence,
arose from tensions between the residents of Great Britain´s 13 colonies and the British crown. The
colonies´ desire to obtain independence from the people that started their civilization was followed by
a series of riots that led to a full scale war. Indeed, the fight towards independence followed seven
years of senseless war. (McCurdy, 516)
In the fight for freedom, Patrick Henry, the political leader in the American Revolution gave his
famous ¨Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death¨ speech in which he expressed his passion to gain
independence from Mother England and that this war was a cause worth fighting for. However, Henry
also points the perspective of ¨men that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the lives of many people that were considered prisoners of war because they were held
captive by the British Navy could have been saved if they had avoided a war. It was stated that
¨supporters of the Revolution pointed to prisoner accounts of captivity and suffering as a clear
example of the corrupted nature of the British government¨ (Dzurec, 432). However, this war started
because the patriots wanted to get their independence from the British. Indeed battles such as Valley of
the Forge and the battle of Yorktown were not really necessary, but rather a rebellious fight towards
not obeying anybody that caused the loss of many innocent lives. To add up, the riots that the residents
of the colonies took part in were not really justified because the British government imposed taxes on
all of the British colonies in order to help pay off a debt that would have affected all of them.
Nevertheless, the first thing that the Americans did was react with violence which only pushed things

Mnemonic Devices
Two methods I would use to help remember would be mnemonic devices and elaboration. I would use
the mnemonic device method to help remember the items cookies, cups, and carton First off,
mnemonics is an encoding trick used to tie to be remembered information to something familiar
(Carter Seifert, 2013). This strategy allowed my to make the items cookies, cups, and carton more
memorable using the lyrics of a familiar rap song. When I attempted to find something familiar so that
it would be easier to encode cookies, cups, and carton, I instantly remembered the Hip Hop song
Beemer, Benz, or Bentley by Lloyd Banks. I used the connection that both the three words in the song
s title begin with same letter (b) and the three words

Ofdm Transmission By Stephen Kiambi
OFDM transmission
Author: Stephen Kiambi
Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Nairobi
OFDM or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a transmission scheme that is widely used
in broadcast and wireless communication technologies. Some of the applications employing OFDM
include Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB T2), Wireless
LAN, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and 4G Long Term Evolution
(LTE) radio technologies [1, 2]. Two of the main reasons to use OFDM are to increase date rates and
robustness against frequency selective fading. In the rest of this document an overview of OFDM
transmission theory is given.
1 Basic principles of OFDM
OFDM is a multicarrier transmission technique that splits the total available bandwidth into many
narrowband sub channels at equidistant frequencies. The sub channel spectra overlap each other but
the subcarrier signals are still orthogonal. The single high rate data stream is subdivided into many
low rate data streams for the sub channels. Each sub channel is modulated individually and all the sub
channels are transmitted simultaneously in a superimposed and parallel form.
An OFDM transmit signal therefore consists of adjacent orthogonal subcarriers spaced by the
frequency distance on the frequency axis. All subcarrier signals are mutually orthogonal within the
symbol duration, , if the th unmodulated subcarrier signal is described

Dear Sir/Madame,
The past few months our organization has had the privileges of discover, to report and to recommend a
strategic plan for the National Cash Register Country Club (NCRCC) Facility. In addressing the
boards concern(s) on what to expect once NCRCC converts to a full service golf facility. The research

percent with the highest dissatisfaction of nineteen percent among the older membership 55 64. Also,
eighty percent of members who joined for golf were very happy accepted the new change of the golf
club to a full service facility. Including, an eighty three percent satisfaction rating among current and
new members when the casual dining facility bar/lounge, and the 37th Hole was added. Although, the
ratings of the casual adult dining section, casual family dining, outdoor dining, formal dining, a men s
grill, women s grill was below standards. Adding a no smoking section for old, new customers, and
comparable lunch, dinner prices to balance the competitions between the closest competitors. Once
these issues were addressed NCRCC returned to normal. In summary, a fully fifty nine

White Sharks
The problem, or debate, that I have chosen for my final project is the return of White Sharks to the
Atlantic coast, specifically off of Eastern Massachusetts. Because it is more of a debate, there are both
positives and negatives to this. These pertain to environment and ocean wildlife, public safety,
ecotourism, conservation, and research.
The cause of this debate comes with the return of White Sharks to the area. Over the past few years,
there has been an increase of this apex predator to our coasts like never before seen, most notably
since Labor Day weekend in 2009. Five sharks had been tagged by a marine biologist, Greg Skomal,
and have been closely tracked and documented since. Skomal is a key player in this research as

There are also a large number of marine biologists that track the sharks in the area, both by plane and
by boat. They have successfully tagged many of the sharks with electronics that allow scientists to
monitor and track the migration of the sharks. This allows for better predictability and will help reduce
shark human interactions. One major resource is the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. They created
an app for smart phones called Sharktivity . This application allows users to track and report shark
sightings in real time. It will help beachgoers to predict where sharks are most likely to be found, or

The participants in the derivatives markets are generally...
The participants in the derivatives markets are generally classified as hedgers and speculators. The
hedgers use derivatives as main purpose to protect against adverse changes while speculators enter a
derivative contract with attempt to profit from anticipated changes in market prices. One of the biggest
questions in regard to the treatment of derivatives tools is whether actually they are used for hedging
or speculation. (Adam and Fernando 2006)
According to Guay (1999) firms can reduce dramatically their risk by the means of derivatives. But in
the same research he finds out that derivatives could be used either do increase or decrease risk. Guay
(1999) undertakes an empirical examination of new derivative users in attempt to find out ... Show

However, Hentchel and
Konthari (2001) find out that even the firms with large derivatives positions do not show a significant
increase in their return volatility, which is inconsistent with the hypothesis for speculations with
derivatives. Furthermore, they also detect that the same companies do not have a significant decrease
in their risk. These findings lead them to the conclusion that firms derivatives use does not measurably
increase or decrease their return volatility . (Hentchel and Konthari 2001, p.94)
Stulz (1996) find that many firms use successfully derivatives as a tool for hedge for short term
contracts or in cases when they have large taxes or poorly diversified portfolios. By using derivatives
to hedge the risk companies increase their leverage and in this way reduce the tax liabilities. In other
words, the use of derivatives increases the level of leverage. (Stulz 1996) Other theories suggest that
some holders of call option can benefit from the use of derivatives if they produce higher volatility.
(Black and Scholes 1973). But according to the research of Hentschel and Kothari (2001) there is no
enough evidence for such thesis.
Another research investigates the relation between the use of derivatives and the cost of equity and the
results show that the cost of equity of the derivatives users is lower than this of non users, due to lower

The Ethics Of The Bhopal Disaster
In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical
implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to Union
Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and affecting the
livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up to try to
explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less stringent labor
laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public and medical
facilities in Bhopal about the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the government should also
have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the possible disaster zone. The
government of India s negligence lies in one or both of the following: not assessing the risk of
building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the assessed risk inherent in the
chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and population of Bhopal. This is
not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless, however the Government of India
s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they underrepresented the victims in the
UCC s settlement actions in 1989. Due to these reasons, I will argue in the following paragraphs that
the Government of India has more responsibility than Union Carbide in not only the tragedy but also

another, these are theory and practical which is obtained through placements at health care settings.
Both formats of education used are of equal value within the course and each one accounts for 50% of
the course (Edinburgh Napier University, 2017). Currently there should be 2,300 practical placement

Analysis of the European Union’s Role as a Model...
Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) are defined by Kegley (2009) as institutions created and
joined by states governments, which give them authority to make collective decisions to manage
particular problems on the global agenda (p. 163). The purpose of IGOs is to solve shared problems on
the basis of involving states interests. In other words, states utilize community of interest to balance
the international situation between neighborhoods. According to Kegley (2009), a global trend in
world politics is the spectacular growth of IGOs. The European Union, as an example of IGOs, is the
globe s best success story among the other regional IGOs playing global roles (Kegley, 2009).

By doing this Tiffany is revealing some shameful secrets, but her vulnerability allows a strong

Beowulf An Epic Hero
Introduction
Epic is a word can be very confusing. In ordinary conversations, one could refer to an epic hero as just
a hero possessing remarkable strength, and personal characteristics, which are considered timeless.
However, a true, literary epic hero has to meet a given set of criteria concerning his character and
abilities: qualities, which make him to be different or at a level that is above other great people.
According to Cascio (n.d), epic heroes are heroes who are on a mission, and they exhibit various kinds
of superhuman powers displaying generosity, loyalty, as well as courage. The epic story Beowulf is
generally an epic that is well known and is described as one of the best epic stories. The epic hero
Beowulf in the novel Beowulf illustrates characteristics of physical strength, courage, self confidence,
wisdom, as well as loyalty, much like today heroes.
Additionally, an epic hero refers to a bigger than life hero embodying the values of a given society
(Trask, 1998). In most instances, epic heroes generally have superior strength, and besides, they

In the Homeric tradition, Epic heroes are often demigods. Unlike Hercules, as well as Achilles,
Beowulf, is generally not depicted to have a god as a biological parent, though it was commonly said

to slash Beowulf through the use of a sword, the sword failed to penetrate. As pointed out by the
narrator, the sword was less powerful in comparison to armor of Beowulf, which was too powerful.
God s grace provided the strength. Weapons that are used by the epic heroes are distinguished

In addition, it wrongly allocated its indirect costs at volume bases. The use of process technology
mentioned in the case led to an increase in factory overheads Since direct labor hours was not a cost
driver of them, allocating its large proportion of fixed factory overheads and other indirect batch level
costs on the basis of DLHs in this cost system did not accurately measure how resources were being
used. As a result, these inaccurate allocations would have significant costs to Elkay. Moreover, it
disregarded its cost structure in which most costs were fixed that would not vary in the short run and
should be allocated based on its practical capacity. By using the actual sales volume as the allocation
base for allocating its large corporate overheads, this standard costing system in fact over pricing its
products for its actual productivity was lower than the practical capacity under the intense
competition. As a consequence of all problem within the standard costing system, PPD urgently

Indeed, PPD had ever tried to solve these problems by developing a simple Excel based ABC model.

Environmental Concerns Of The Energy Industry
Over the past 70 years, energy use and energy sources alike considerably shifted in the United States.
With these shifts, the environmental concerns associated the energy sources changed as well. Whether
it meant regulating coal use to minimize air pollution or funding alternative fuel source research, the
government has played a significant role in how the energy has been used. In addition, worried
consumers attack the industries by rallying for them to eliminate pollution. This dual sided advance on
the energy industry sometimes leads to slow advancement, such as the case with nuclear energy.
Typically, energy policy has shifted to minimize the effects on the environment. However, there were

Not long after the clean air act and the environmental impact standards were passed, the Arab
countries placed an embargo on petroleum products to the United States. This was due to the United
States support of Israel. As a result of this political debacle, the United States actually began ordering
electrical utilities to continue or resume using coal as a source instead of petroleum. Although only
15% of electricity produced in the US at the time originated from petroleum products, this was still the
use of more than 1 million barrels per day. Eliminating this use of petroleum would allow the United
States more independence from the world oil market. Clearly, this contradicted the clean air measures
put into place in 1967. However, after the embargo was lifted, the government provided large new
amounts of funding for alternative fuel sources. Among the energy sources they were researching was
nuclear energy. Although a very clean source of energy with regards to carbon emissions, concerns
about radiation emissions exist when discussing nuclear energy. Thoughts of Chernobyl, Hiroshima,

This sort of strip development can lead to housing inflation, traffic congestion, and poses many
problems for the social and economic infrastructure of the towns it effects. Many #8230;ski resorts are
no longer the 800 pound gorilla threatening mountain valleys. Rather, the villan of rampant
commercial over development is bigger and more complex: thousands of people moving to the
mountains for reasons additional to skiing. In a few towns, skiing is no longer the engine of growth,
but is becoming a mere amenity like golf. (http:www.wildwilderness.org/wi/skiarea.htm) To me this is
what may begin to lead to the decline of the industry. No longer will the NH ski industry offer the
homely mountain feeling it always has had if trends continue the way they are. Developmental sprawl

OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM
Introduction
On March 20, 2003, the combined military forces of the United States and Britain crossed the
southern border of Iraq and Kuwait with the intent of capitulating the government of Saddam Hussein.
Over the course of 21 days, the joint task force moved quickly and decisively to seize major objective
cities along the road to Baghdad using aviation, armor, artillery, and infantry. Following the
overwhelming success of the primary combat operations of the invasion, stability and support systems
proved insufficient as sectarian violence and other criminal activity among the local population of Iraq

How Technology Is Impacting Globalization
Globalization is the process by which people, businesses and countries become more connected and
interdependent. With new technology it has become so much easier to access data, from anywhere in
the world. The world has many problems that cannot be fixed without globalization and by moving
towards one global culture. The world is moving towards one global culture because different cultures
are adapting and sharing ideas of others that are gradually changing the way people in these cultures
live. The world will benefit with globalization because it will increase the interaction and relationships
between countries, and improve technology to create a stronger plan on how to protect the
environment.
Technology is impacting globalization. Transportation, cheap telephone service, email, computers and
instant capital flows made the world more interdependent. Travel, communication, and interaction
between countries has increased. This interaction between countries has moved the world towards one
global culture because it will help with improving long standing problems such as the environment.
For example, climate change has threatened the well being of citizens around the world. Food and
water shortage are just a few examples. Moving towards one global society can help eliminate some of
these problems by creating a stronger system of providing resources with food and water shortages to
vulnerable countries. Technology can help detect natural disasters sooner to bring awareness to

has been looked into on account of individuals perpetrated violations, nobody constrains them to do
anything that he or she wouldn t like to do yet another reason is they surmise that the reward for the
wrongdoing would be more fulfilling to their requirements as opposed to having nothing and
remaining out of inconvenience like noncriminal individuals. Conceded there has been a lot of
research done to make sense of what drives individuals to carry out wrongdoings, keep on doing the
violations and what could really make them stop perpetrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A current research accomplished for this hypothesis is the death penalty. The thought is that expresses
that who has capital punishment as a discipline ought to have low manslaughter rates because of the
way that death penalty is the most extreme discipline one could get as opposed to life detainment
without the likelihood of parole. Capital punishment is costlier for states that have capital punishment
and where kills in reality live while for states that have kills however don t have capital punishment,
life detainment is the following best alternative. To truly choose if the discouragement hypothesis
works is to direct an exploration on murder rates in various states that have capital punishment with
states that have life detainment. Until this day the confirmation done by this is not convincing that

Description Of A Coat Of Arms
A coat of arms is a distinctive design that uses symbols to denote the elements significance. The coat
of arms typically forms a shield consisting of emblems that represent a significant person, family or
organization. My TBL group, The Brown Eyed Babies, created a coat of arms to denote the essential
qualities that a nurse must possess to provide the best care. We believe a nurse must possess these five
characteristics: endurance, wisdom, empathy, collaboration and communication. We used an owl as a
base to symbolize wisdom. Being a wise nurse not only includes the knowledge learned in class, but
also comprises the experience we gain through practice. Thus, wisdom is placed as the base because
without knowledge and experience, we cannot provide the care needed. The owl s wings represent the
quality, endurance, as it functions as the owl s core support. Endurance is an essential quality because
it comprises of not only the physical strength, but also the mental and emotional stability needed to
cope with the nursing profession. A heart is placed within the owl, in the middle, to represent empathy
and its central role in nursing care. Empathy is a significant trait needed by the nurse, in order to
maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients. There are also two little owls placed at the bottom
holding hands to represent collaboration. Being a good collaborator contributes to providing the best
care, as working with other nurses and healthcare professionals results in

typically documented which is proposed to persuade a decision maker to approve some sort of activity

investments. It is not limited to one area but defines (a) what is the need of business? (b) What are the
strategy and what benefits are expected? (c) What are the problems for defined successful outcome?
(d) Why a particular option is preferred from among the others? (e) How funding will be provided or
whether the cost will be affordable? (f) What external resources will be sourced? (g) How long the
benefits will be delivered? (h) What risk are involved and how they will be managed? (i) What are the
recommendations and what is concluded? So, a business case document ought to look at advantages
and risk involved with and, on the other hand not taking the action. The conclusion ought to be a
convincing contention for execution. The Project, NEMTB is a partnership project between

Problems Associated With Chinese Australian And Homeless...
Culture is a common ground of group of people sharing ideas, beliefs, values and behaviour which is
not restricted to ethnicity (Fanany, 2012). Australia is one of the most culturally diverse countries
across the world who have their own cultural and social aspects of life. There exist various factors that
influences the health of different cultural groups which includes social gradient, social exclusion,
unemployment and addiction (Wilkinson Mormot, 2003). Among the various cultural and ethnic
groups, this case study highlights the aspects determining the health and its risks in Chinese Australian
and Homeless Australian youths community and the strategies overcoming those risks. It reviews the
literature on the social determinants causing health risks in the specific cultural groups and suggests
the best possible approaches dealing with the health problems associated with them.

Similarities Between Frederick Douglass And Robert Carter
Robert Carter, who freed more than 500 slaves in his lifetime, and Frederick Douglass, who escaped
from slavery and wrote books, made newspapers and spoke to large audiences of Massachusetts
abolitionists both fought hard to end slavery in their own different ways. In the early to middle 1800s
slavery was a big problem, and people were starting to notice. People thought that someone else
would end it, and they didn t have to do it all by themselves, but these two were proactive in the fight.
Their different characteristics, but similar goal helped the US reach a slavery free country. Whereas
Frederick Douglass had to escape slavery to preach for equality, Robert Carter was born into wealth
and fought against slavery in a whole different way. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In January 1788, Robert discovers the spiritual writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, and quickly
switches from Baptist to the Church of New Jerusalem. While studying the religion, he is convinced
that slavery is inhumane, and decides to free his slaves. To do this, he drafts the Deed of Gift, which
frees more than 500 of his slaves. It is the largest emancipation before 1860 by any individual.
(Barden) Frederick Douglass, on the other hand, didn t have the money to free slaves, but he did have
the knowledge to convince wealthy people to help free them. He published three books in total and
started two newspapers. His first book, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, was an
autobiography about his slave life. Ten years later, he published My Bondage and My Freedom,
another narrative about his early life. In 1881,z he published the Life and Times of Frederick

Current Drug Treatments And Its Effects
Current drug treatments are limited to those which only offer symptomatic relief that may not be seen
in all patients rather than treatments which target and slow disease progression (Anand, Gill Mahdi
2014; Nelson Tabet 2015). Only two types of drugs have been approved for the symptomatic treatment
of AD, acetylcholine esterase inhibitors (AChEIs) and ¬N methyl D asparate (NMDA) receptor
antagonists (Anand, Gill Mahdi 2014; Nelson Tabet 2015). There are three approved AChEIs,
Donepezil (Aricept), Rivastigmine (Exelon) and Galantamine (Razadyne), along with a fourth

However, these treatments have so far only proved effective throughout the initial stages of the
disease; as once the disease has progressed further the drugs no longer offer adequate symptomatic
relief (Rogers Friedhoff 1996; Small et al. 2005; Wilkinson Murray 2001).
More recently the first NMDA drug uncompetitive receptor antagonist, memantine was approved for
clinical use in management and treatment of moderate to severe AD (Anand, Gill Mahdi 2014). It is
currently the only approved drug for the treatment of moderate to severe AD; and a review conducted
by (Revett et al. 2013) concluded that meantime had a significant effect on slowing cognitive decline
and on the ability of patient to complete every day activities. It seemed to have no effect on patients
with mild AD (Schneider et al. 2014) and displayed inconsistent results when used in conjunction with
existing AChEI treatments (Nelson Tabet 2015). Memantine aims to prevent the occurrence of
increased pathological influx of Ca2+ ions, during temporal and spatial convergent activation of
glutamatergic synapses throughout learning and memory process (Danysz Parsons 2012). As
previously stated glutamatergic neurons are affected towards the later stages of AD, and results in an
accumulation of glutamate and increase NMDA receptor activity resulting in excitotoxicity;
inadvertently causing the death of central neurons (Revett et al. 2013).

The Power of Motivation
Motivation is a powerful driving force that we all have to some degree. We put the motivation to work
on a daily basis. It is an essential key to basic survival psychologically and physiologically.
Motivation is the impulse, obsession, or pure desire to achieve specific goals in our life. For that
motivation to be effective in our lives, the energy that each of us has to work together in an effort to
put the power behind motivation. Motivation moves us, strengthens us, places us exactly where we
want and we must be in life. If the motivation that experience is positive, we are able to optimize our
physical and mental health in general.
People who lack sufficient or the right kind of motivation often experience a number of complications
in their life. These complications may include negative emotions, lack of self esteem, frustration,
dissatisfaction with life, and even depression. In addition to this, physical symptoms and issues such
as a rise in blood pressure, stress in the body and even ulcers can be effects that linger around
individual motivation. If you want to optimize your health, it is important to understand the role of
motivation in regards to the physiological and psychological aspects of who we are.

History Of The Galapagos Islands
The Galapagos Islands is an archipelago of roughly 19 islands and several smaller islets, covering 620
miles off the Ecuadorian coast in the Pacific Ocean. Both the land and sea are protected, making the
island a World Heritage site. The islands are recognized for its unique wildlife, especially because of
the lack of predators. Visitors can interact with the friendly wildlife such as playful sea lions and
gigantic sea tortoises, up close and personal. The incredible animal species served as the inspiration
for Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution after his visit to the islands in 1835. Each of these actively
volcanic isolated isles boasts its own set of unique species, but share similar environment, and climate.
It is one of the most outstanding marine ecosystems in the world, situated at the confluence of three
ocean currents.
Prior to Spanish discovery of the islands in 1535, there is little evidence to support any permanent
settlement. Spaniard Fray Tomas de Berlanga s vessel drifted off course on a trip to Peru and reached
the islands. The English followed in 1593, and Irish sailor Patrick Watkins is believed to be the first to

Teen Suicide In The Pact By Jodi Picoult
The Pact by Jodi Picoult perfectly describes a typical high school romance. The story accurately
creates a scene straight from a teen s mind. The book is based on two teens Emily and Chris, who are
in love, a love so strong they are willing to die for, or rather with each other. Emily and Chris create a
suicide pact together, but since only one of teens, (Emily) is actually suicidal, and when the gun only
kills one, the question of suicide or murder, stirs in the air. One of the most controversial points among
the friends and family of the now deceased Emily is that no one knew of Emily s suicidal intentions,
mainly because she did not express the common symptoms of a depressed person. This book
addresses the important struggles and issues teens commonly face in today s society, ie. suicide,
depression, stress and growing up. The Pact may seem like a devastatingly tragic story of two teens,
but most do not realize how this is a reality for most of the today s young generation. The article Teen
suicide by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Shows the heart aching facts
and scary truths of teen suicide and depression. The article gets into the mental disorder and creates
more depth and truth to what character Emily Gold might have been going through in the book. The

Psychiatry, expresses how suicide and depression can be an undetectable tragic reality.

Essay On Flashbulb Memory
In this first experiment, it seems to show a solid validity. Since ecological validity is defined as the
conclusions that are analyzed in the research study that can be generalized to certain settings and
situations for whatever is being studied where it would naturally occur. Since this was studying
random people on the street the ecological validity would be pretty high considering that you can
generalize the research findings of the study to a real life situations which this study demonstrates.
The generalizability of this experiment would be a bit low considering the information provided.
Generalizability is defined as an extensions of conclusions to a study based on a sample population to
a population at large. The larger the sample population in the experiment, the more generalized the
conclusions can be of the experiment. Since this experiment did not include how many participants it
is hard to define the true generalizability of this experiment. Although it can be determined based on
information from the class that the accuracy of these memory won t be as accurate as the participants

Another factor of why flashbulb memories are not accurate has to do with the media coverage of a
specific event such as a hurricane or 9/11. This alters how you remember the event versus how you

Since Puerto Rico and many other Caribbean islands did not have access to media for months after the

The Structure Of Polypyrrole
The structure of polypyrrole consists of long conjugated polymer backbone as shown in Fig. 1.2b. The
polymer has resonance structures that resemble aromatic or quinoid forms. In this neutral state the
polymer is not conducting and it conducts only when it is oxidised. Polypyrrole is an insulator but its
oxidized derivatives are good conductors. The Conductivity ranges from 2 to 100 S/cm. The charge
associated with the oxidised state is typically delocalised over several units and can form a radical
cation (polaron) or a dication (bipolaron).
Polypyrrole is poorly crystalline, with crystalline regions randomly oriented and the polymer chains

When the polymer is doped partially, islands of conducting material are developed, which are oxidized
sites on the polymer chain. A small percentage of the sites form a network, yielding a small , finite DC
conductivity. Hopping of charge carriers between favourable sites accounts for AC conductivity. Thus
the conductivity is a combination of frequency dependent AC conductivity and DC conductivity. At
higher level of doping, an increase in the network density through the polymer chain results in
elimination of number of isolated sites which give rise to AC conductivity. So at the limit of very high
doping the number of isolated sites is less and the DC conductivity dominates the total conductivity.

The Leadership Of The Liberal Democratic Party Of Japan
Introduction
While it is a parliamentary democracy, Japan, through 1955 to 1993, maintained a government led by
one party. The leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP) closely resembles a single
party dictatorship, as in Japan s geographically close neighbor, China. In fact, the political situation in
Japan was referred to by Chalmers Johnson as soft authoritarianism (quoted in Lim 2014, p.46).
However, unlike China, all of Japan s lawmakers were democratically elected to the National Diet.
Under such a system, LDP managed to dominate the Japanese parliament for 38 years. During the
1960s and 1970s, Japan experienced rapid economic development, known as the economic miracle,
while LDP was continuously in leadership. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nation as a whole seemed to be focused on economic recovery from the ravishes of war, and
achieving annual goals of economic growth, which is well reflected in their savings rate of over 20%
during this era (Kim 2009). LDP s utmost task was to respond to such a national trend with satisfying
economic results in order to maintain the party s dominance in the Diet. The 1955 System In post
World War II Japan, elected legislators were on a mission to revitalize Japan s war ravaged economy.
With the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, demand for production of military equipment
skyrocketed, which ignited an early manufacturing boom in Japan. The US, which had already been
aiding Japan, allowed Japan to assume a role as a major site of manufacturing for the military
equipment it required for its war efforts in East Asia. In turn, Japanese exports increased by 26%
(Carpenter 2015, p.47). Even after the Korean War ended, the US continued to give its demand for
military equipments to Japan, to the extent that it had spent $7.2 billion in offshore procurements and
other military expenditures in Japan (Lim 2014, p.71). It was tremendously important for Japan s
relationship with the US to remain intact, as it played an essential role in Japan s economic growth,
and enabled Japan to reestablish its regional economic dominance (Lim 2014, p.71). For this reason,
businesses in Japan, which had been enjoying such an unprecedented

Chinese Immigrants in America Essay
After the first wave of Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States in the early 1840s during the
California Gold Rush, many Chinese people continued to travel across the Pacific, escaping poor
conditions in China with hopes and ambitions for a better life in America. Many more Chinese
immigrants began arriving into the 1860s on the Pacific coast for work in other areas such as the
railroad industry. The immigrants noticed an increasing demand for their labor because of their
readiness to work for low wages. Many of those who arrived did not plan to stay long, and therefore
there was no push for their naturalization. The immigrants left a country with thousands of years of a

The growth of Chinese jobs in the California labor market did not stop there. Because of the hard
times, employers found it especially attractive that the Chinese workers would work for long hours
with low pay. Huge losses hit California in 1876 with a drought; this led to unemployment across the
coast including for the Chinese. Many white investors, however, used the Chinese as scapegoats for
this statewide depression, fueling the anti Chinese fire and leading to more hostility towards Chinese
workers. The firsthand account of Lee Chew, a Chinese immigrant to America in the early 1880s,
shows the disparities between the white man s perception of Chinese laborers and reality as well as the
hostility that arose as a result. When Lee first arrived in America, he started working as a housekeeper
for a family in California, being paid $3.50 a week and being able to keep 50 cents afterwards. For
Lee and other Chinese immigrants, they believed the hostility arose from jealousy in the labor market,
because he [Chinese worker] is a more faithful worker than one of their people, [and they] have raised
such a great outcry about Chinese cheap labor that they have shut him [Chinese worker] out of

testimony shows the common ripple effects of the working restrictions white men imposed on the

Race And Social Class Inequality Essay
Race+Social Class+Economic Class=Value? As shown throughout history, race and social class have
played a large role in determining people s values this is based on the specific culture and the societal
values fostered by their environment. In the case of the United States, as a result of the enslavement of
people of color, white people were seen to have the most value . The higher up socio economically
white people were, the more they were considered valuable. In the 1920 s, racism was still enforced
by laws (such as Jim Crow) and this idea of blackness correlating with no value was emphasized by
society through segregation and stigma stemming from slavery. One way that people of color went
around their race during this time period to escape the prejudice that correlated was through the
method of passing as white. This method and its implications can be seen in Nella Larsen s Passing

for convenience, while Clare passes to alter her lifestyle and identity completely. This shift in identity
as a means of changing societal implications aligns with Women on the Market by Luce Irigaray,
which sheds light on the idea of the exchange of women. According to Irigaray, women are
commodities their value is dependent on their social, economic, and marital statuses. The most

Conflict, Power, and Influence in Interpersonal Communication
Conflict management deals with many levels of communications. Power and influence play a key role
in how conflict is resolved in situations involving conflict. The film Lean On Me was first and
foremost about transformation on several different levels. At first glance the tactics of Crazy Joe Clark
seem harsh and arbitrary. It helps to understand that Joe Clark in real life was a sergeant in the Army
reserves. (Gallene 1989) Much of the tactics displayed in the movie would be familiar to anyone who
had ever been to boot camp. It is a tenant of modern police training that under stress people will revert
to their latest or strongest training. For many years as a principal of a tough elementary school before
arriving at Eastside High, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie does not say. However, the real Joe Clark was the master of using a dramatic gesture to
make at point. Communication played a key role in how Principal Joe Clark chose to communicate
with the students at Eastside High. Because of his impressive reputation and power, he was brought
back at the school in hopes to make changes to the severe demise of the school. He was given the
mission and assignment to change the environment of the school that had become violent with very
low test scores and rapid drug use. The students lacked respect not only for the faculty, staff and other
students but also for the school in which they attended. As the movie takes places and Joe Clark
accepts the assignment as Eastside High school principal, he is very disturbed at what has become of
the school. One of his many strategies that he used was his power to influence the attitudes and
behaviors of Eastside High students which left him with a no nonsense reputation and the credit of
named one of the nations 10 Principals of Leadership by the governor of New Jersey in 1986. As a
former drill sergeant of the Army, Joe Clark used his skills of tough discipline in an effort make some
very drastic changes to the school. Although many of his methods were thought of as irrational and
intimidating, he was willing to take steps he felt necessary make these changes occur. He realized that
the task was far greater than what he initially accepted, but used his power

Hindu Weddings
RELIGIONS PAPER (Need Title)
Extravagant clothing, succulent victuals, exquisite flowers, spectacular photography and many other
grand decorations are the foundation of a Hindu marriage. Hindu marriages, like most other cultural
wedding ceremonies, are deeply concerned with their religious rituals and customs. Most ceremonies
in the Hindu culture are family oriented with great emphasis on entertainment and inspiration. Also,
off course, the amount of decorations and the extent to which the rituals are carried out depends
greatly on the class of the families in society. Wealthier families are inclined to spend vast amounts of
money into the wedding ceremony to make it extremely extravagant, whereas the lower class families

There are a number of pre marriage celebrations that are carried out, including the engagement and
other days on which families and friends get together and rejoice. Other pre marriage celebrations
consist of Mehndi, Sangeet, and Tilak. Mehndi, also known as henna, plays a great role in the wedding
celebrations. There is a whole day devoted to the Mehndi Ceremony, which is performed by the bride
s side. There was a banquet hall booked for the Mehndi ceremony and close to three hundred guests
were invited. There was singing and dancing to traditional music, remarkable diversity of foods,
exquisite decorations with an elegant assortment of mostly yellow flowers. The bride s friends and
relatives performed wonderful dances. The girls applied henna on the bride s hands and feet, making
traditional designs and patterns. The henna is supposed to symbolize passion and the strength of love
in the marriage and so the bride has to keep it on for a long time. The bride was dressed in light yellow
and white clothes, the colours symbolizing purity. After the Mehndi Ceremony, the bride is not
allowed to the leave the house until on her marriage day. Between the Mehndi Ceremony and the
marriage day there is a night devoted to Sangeet. Sangeet merely just means music. It is mostly
considered the most enjoyable and entertaining night as friends and family just dance all night long.
Sangeet was held at the bride s house and mostly the friends and relatives of the bride

The Nature Of Good And Evil In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker s Dracula expressed the nature of good and evil. An English realtor, Jonathan Harker,
journeyed to Transylvania in order to complete a sale for a residence in London to a Transylvanian
vampire, Count Dracula. What Harker did not know was that Dracula wanted to move to England so
he can expand his power, creating a new monarchy of vampires.
The Christian religion depicted many instances throughout Dracula. Early in the novel, Harker was
preparing his journey to Dracula s castle until an innkeeper s wife put a crucifix around his neck
saying it was the eve of St. George s Day, when all the evil things in the world will have full sway.
Crucifixes were a way to show that Christian objects promised protection from evil. The communion

He, being a satanic figure, revealed by the consumption of blood, and also being shown by his
physical appearance; he had long, sharp fangs, fiery red eyes, and pointed ears. Dracula also had many
abilities that are typically awarded strictly to God; he can control animals, the weather, and shapeshift.
Christians believed that the consumption of God s body and blood through communion will give them
everlasting life with God in heaven. Dracula consumed human blood in order to remain undead and to
have strength. His horrific actions embodied the complete opposite of the God. Not only did these
actions illustrated the opposition of the two figures but, it also showed how Dracula bypassed God and
went to humans for his restoration in life after death. Therefore, he shunned God as the supplier of
life.
Dracula was as evil as a creature could become and was atrocious in the eyes of the Christian religion.
He was a symbol of the Anti Christ and Satan and the fact that holy items harmed Dracula meant he
was pure evil. In the end, Harker, Van Helsing, Mina, and the love interests of Mina s friend, Lucy
Westenra (Quincey Morris, Jack Seward, and Arthur Holmwood) fought against Dracula to prevent his
evil. The main weapons used against Dracula were sacred utensils. Their struggle was the battle
between the holy and the

  • 2. Reasons To Remain A Loyalist Essay Reasons to Remain a Loyalist The American Revolution, mostly known as the War of Independence, arose from tensions between the residents of Great Britain´s 13 colonies and the British crown. The colonies´ desire to obtain independence from the people that started their civilization was followed by a series of riots that led to a full scale war. Indeed, the fight towards independence followed seven years of senseless war. (McCurdy, 516) In the fight for freedom, Patrick Henry, the political leader in the American Revolution gave his famous ¨Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death¨ speech in which he expressed his passion to gain independence from Mother England and that this war was a cause worth fighting for. However, Henry also points the perspective of ¨men that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the lives of many people that were considered prisoners of war because they were held captive by the British Navy could have been saved if they had avoided a war. It was stated that ¨supporters of the Revolution pointed to prisoner accounts of captivity and suffering as a clear example of the corrupted nature of the British government¨ (Dzurec, 432). However, this war started because the patriots wanted to get their independence from the British. Indeed battles such as Valley of the Forge and the battle of Yorktown were not really necessary, but rather a rebellious fight towards not obeying anybody that caused the loss of many innocent lives. To add up, the riots that the residents of the colonies took part in were not really justified because the British government imposed taxes on all of the British colonies in order to help pay off a debt that would have affected all of them. I would use the mnemonic device method to help remember the items cookies, cups, and carton First off, mnemonics is an encoding trick used to tie to be remembered information to something familiar (Carter Seifert, 2013). This strategy allowed my to make the items cookies, cups, and carton more memorable using the lyrics of a familiar rap song. When I attempted to find something familiar so that it would be easier to encode cookies, cups, and carton, I instantly remembered the Hip Hop song Beemer, Benz, or Bentley by Lloyd Banks. • 4. Ofdm Transmission By Stephen Kiambi OFDM transmission Author: Stephen Kiambi Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Nairobi OFDM or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a transmission scheme that is widely used in broadcast and wireless communication technologies. Some of the applications employing OFDM include Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB T2), Wireless LAN, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio technologies [1, 2]. Two of the main reasons to use OFDM are to increase date rates and robustness against frequency selective fading. In the rest of this document an overview of OFDM transmission theory is given. 1 Basic principles of OFDM OFDM is a multicarrier transmission technique that splits the total available bandwidth into many narrowband sub channels at equidistant frequencies. The sub channel spectra overlap each other but the subcarrier signals are still orthogonal. The single high rate data stream is subdivided into many low rate data streams for the sub channels. Each sub channel is modulated individually and all the sub channels are transmitted simultaneously in a superimposed and parallel form. An OFDM transmit signal therefore consists of adjacent orthogonal subcarriers spaced by the frequency distance on the frequency axis. All subcarrier signals are mutually orthogonal within the symbol duration, , if the th unmodulated subcarrier signal is described ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The cause of this debate comes with the return of White Sharks to the area. Over the past few years, there has been an increase of this apex predator to our coasts like never before seen, most notably since Labor Day weekend in 2009. The hedgers use derivatives as main purpose to protect against adverse changes while speculators enter a derivative contract with attempt to profit from anticipated changes in market prices. One of the biggest questions in regard to the treatment of derivatives tools is whether actually they are used for hedging or speculation. (Adam and Fernando 2006) According to Guay (1999) firms can reduce dramatically their risk by the means of derivatives. Furthermore, they also detect that the same companies do not have a significant decrease in their risk. These findings lead them to the conclusion that firms derivatives use does not measurably increase or decrease their return volatility . (Hentchel and Konthari 2001, p.94) Stulz (1996) find that many firms use successfully derivatives as a tool for hedge for short term contracts or in cases when they have large taxes or poorly diversified portfolios. By using derivatives to hedge the risk companies increase their leverage and in this way reduce the tax liabilities. In other words, the use of derivatives increases the level of leverage. The Ethics Of The Bhopal Disaster In the Business Ethics Foundation Terms class (September 2nd 2014), we discussed the ethical implications of the Bhopal disaster on December 2nd and 3rd, 1983. A plant that belonged to Union Carbide subsidiary had a chemical explosion, killing 10,000 lives (conservatively) and affecting the livelihood of local and their descendants. Although many reasons have been offered up to try to explain this disaster such as the poor establishment of the manufacturing plant, less stringent labor laws, non exist environment laws, as well as the negligence in educating the public and medical facilities in Bhopal about the fatality of the pesticide. It is my opinion that the government should also have placed strict boundary rules to limit populations moving into the possible disaster zone. The government of India s negligence lies in one or both of the following: not assessing the risk of building a manufacturing plant close to a populated city, ignoring the assessed risk inherent in the chemicals being manufactured, and jeopardizing the environment and population of Bhopal. This is not to say that the Union Carbide and its subsidiary were blameless, however the Government of India s lack of responsibility for its citizens can be proved when they underrepresented the victims in the UCC s settlement actions in 1989. Due to these reasons, I will argue in the following paragraphs that the Government of India has more responsibility than Union Carbide in not only the tragedy but also for ... We believe a nurse must possess these five characteristics: endurance, wisdom, empathy, collaboration and communication. We used an owl as a base to symbolize wisdom. Being a wise nurse not only includes the knowledge learned in class, but also comprises the experience we gain through practice. Thus, wisdom is placed as the base because without knowledge and experience, we cannot provide the care needed. Similarities Between Frederick Douglass And Robert Carter Robert Carter, who freed more than 500 slaves in his lifetime, and Frederick Douglass, who escaped from slavery and wrote books, made newspapers and spoke to large audiences of Massachusetts abolitionists both fought hard to end slavery in their own different ways. People thought that someone else would end it, and they didn t have to do it all by themselves, but these two were proactive in the fight. Since ecological validity is defined as the conclusions that are analyzed in the research study that can be generalized to certain settings and situations for whatever is being studied where it would naturally occur. Since this was studying random people on the street the ecological validity would be pretty high considering that you can generalize the research findings of the study to a real life situations which this study demonstrates. The generalizability of this experiment would be a bit low considering the information provided. Generalizability is defined as an extensions of conclusions to a study based on a sample population to a population at large. Thus the conductivity is a combination of frequency dependent AC conductivity and DC conductivity. At higher level of doping, an increase in the network density through the polymer chain results in elimination of number of isolated sites which give rise to AC conductivity. So at the limit of very high doping the number of isolated sites is less and the DC conductivity dominates the total conductivity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
