Sierra Leone
The country of Sierra Leone was going downhill. They had a war which tore the country into pieces.
People was not getting along with each other, the violence was kaotic, a lot of people was sentenced to
jail. There was many innocent lives lives that was taken away. They was in a brutal civil war that had
ended in 2002. In the end, the Britians helped the county to come back together.
Sierra Leone was not a good country at the moment so they tried to make peace with everybody so
they created the Lome Peace Accord. The search for peace in Sierra Leone has been pursued against
daunting odds (Bright, 2000). Determined to foster mutual trust and confidence between themselves

Weaknesses Of Maintenance Administration System
where the maintenance administration systems in this industry can be progressed. The principle
weaknesses are found in the bolster given to center levels of administration in making an
interpretation of wellbeing strategy into a powerful maintenance idea and that into arranging, systems
and asset administration which give proper thoughtfulness regarding security. Suggestions are made
about reinforcing these ranges with a solid maintenance building capacity in charge of organizing the
fuse of security into outline, into the maintenance idea and arranging and for the taking in of lessons
from episode and breakdown investigation, a capacity which can likewise contribute emphatically to a
monetary operation of the office. Some broad suggestions are made about the administrative
ramifications of these conclusions
According to Lawrence Mann Jr. in 1998:

The reasons why maintenance is such a Cinderella capacity are generally verifiable and can for the
most part be overcome by new data innovation (IT) and its falling expense. Advancement is currently
being held up by obsolete ideas of what is financially conceivable in information obtaining and
examination, and inability to change essential maintenance and unwavering quality ideas, some of
which are presently 30 years outdated. Incorporated IT grants scientific improvement of supra
departmental administration choices, e.g. co arranging of generation with maintenance,

Alex Janco
Started at the Newspaper and Now We re Here
Sometimes where we think we would go isn t always where we end up, nonetheless we can still be
very successful. A prime example of this would be Alex Janco, an English teacher (previously a sports
journalist) who is currently working at St. Joseph Highschool in Westchester, IL.
Reminiscing on his childhood Janco says, My dream growing up was to play 2nd base for the Red Sox
(but not extremely good at it) so I took my love for sports and I was always a good writer as a kid and
liked to write, so I put writing and sports together...and became a sports writer. Janco mentions that he

got into the school (with two other girls) and their intent was to beat a girl up to death. It was a three

Janco goes on to explain how he was trying to push apart and hold some girls back but he struggled
with one of them. This was until the male security guard made a comment of taking her down to
which Janco was then able to throw her onto her side.
When it was all over he realized that the girl (who was 300 plus pounds) had fallen onto his wrist
which was extremely swollen. Janco says that the school almost made him pay for the medical bills
until he put his foot down and said he would sue if he paid.

Socrates And Louis Riel
Throughout history, great minds have used situational platforms like trials to advance their ideas to
large audiences. Socrates and Louis Riel are no exception to this and used their respected trials as a
means of conveying a final political statement. This is evident in both Plato s The Trial and Death of
Socrates and Hans V. Hansen s Reil s Defense: Perspectives on his Speeches. Both men s speeches can
be seen as weak examples of forensic rhetoric and strong examples of political rhetoric due to the fact
that Socrates and Riel both believed in a divine mission and cause much larger than themselves. It is
clear that neither man set out to win their trial, and I argue that both Socrates and Riel s speeches were
intended to politically inspire as they both saw themselves as martyrs for a greater cause.
Socrates trial speech can be considered one of the most important examples of political rhetoric in
history. Socrates was brought before the courts on charges of impiety and corrupting the youth of
Athens because of his teachings and the politico philosophic questions he posed to his students. At the
time Socrates was 70 and could have easily fled Athens with the help of his supporters however he
chose to stay in Athens to face the legal consequences of his actions. Socrates had no intention of
winning his trial, as Brumbaugh notes Socrates was not arrested [...] but was summoned to the court of
the First Archon to file his answer to the charges against him (pg.232,

You are responsible for making sure the operating room is set up the way the surgeon likes and needs
it to be. You are also responsible for making sure that all the tools, operating table, and every inch of
the room is cleaned and sterilized. Surgical technicians are the ones who keep track of lap pads or
laparotomy pads used during surgery to soak up excess fluid in the patient. So, everything must be
accounted for before, during and after surgery. They are also the people who hand the surgeons the
tools they call out. With all responsibility, you have to know how to think for yourself if something

example, if a lap pad were to go missing, the surgical technician will be the one who is asked about it,

at hand in the operating room readily available in case the team happens to run out. The job is very
simple. Clean and move the room according to surgery and surgeon, keep track of everything, and
hand the right tools when called out quickly. Seems simple. Which is why there is more than one

The Common Causes Of Weight Loss
One of the most common causes of weight loss is diabetes, this can range from a couple of pounds to
two three stone. Weight loss is usually due to the increased metabolism and breakdown of muscle and
fat due to insulin deficiency. Fluid depletion can also cause weight loss from both Polydipsia and
Polyuria. When an individual presents with these features it is important for them to be picked up
quickly otherwise Ketoacidosis can occur which may be fatal. Ketones are made up of acetone and
two organic acids beta hydroxybutyric acid and acetoacetic acid. The liver and other cells can only
process limited amounts of fatty acids, lipids and ketones at any given time, any excess of keytones is
then secreted into the blood causing ketoacidosis. The binding of ketoacids and bicarbonate buffers
within the blood, leading to an eventual decrease of PH in the blood due to decreased levels of serum
bicarbonate (Gould and Dyer, 2011: 551). As dehydration occurs within the kidneys the demand on
glomerular filtration decreases and so to does the excretion of acids leading to decompensated
metabolic acidosis. Diabetic ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar coma are mostly due to the
hyperosmolarity of the blood, secondary to hyperglycemia and the result of this can be fatal if not
treated within a short period of time Less obvious presentation includes tiredness and weakness which
is very common in uncontrolled diabetes. Alongside these presenting features comes visual blurring

The Declaration Of Rights And Grievances
By 1765, at a Stamp Act Congress, all but four colonies were represented as the Declaration of Rights
and Grievances was passed. They were determined to let Parliament know that they were equal to
British citizens, that there would be no taxation without representation, and all efforts to stop tax on
colonists would continue (Kennedy, etal 2011.) Although Lord Rockingham, the predecessor of
Grenville, sought to repeal of the Stamp Act, this in no way meant Parliament was conceding their
control. In fact, while the Stamp Act was repealed, another called the Declaratory Act of 1766, gave
Parliament the authority to make laws binding the American Colonies, in all cases whatsoever. In
1767, George III passed the Townshend Acts to collect tax on glass, lead, paints, paper and, tea.
Recognizing that tea was a favorite among the Americans, it ensured greater revenue the British
government. Again, the colonists rights for representation were ignored and they started to boycott
British goods and ultimately, smuggle tea. When the Quartering Act was passed, which specified that
colonists were to give room and board to British troops, tension began to rise. For two years, the
colonists tolerated British troops on their soil and their dissatisfaction with the British Parliament and
King George III became evident through many violent riots, abusiveness of tax collectors and
destruction of property. According to Kennedy, etal (2011), Parliament, continually met with

Terrorism And Political Aspects Of Terrorism In The Media
One of the most spoken topics in the media today is terrorism besides any other type of violence.
What is terrorism, everyone has a different version in their dictionary. Some blame a whole nation for
terrorism, some blame a whole religious group for the actions of only a few. As we know the word
terror means extreme fear. A terrorist is someone who creates an atmosphere filled with fear amongst
the people that are there. They go against rules and ethics and do very disturbing things which is
called terrorism. Terrorism is the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, this type of violence is
used especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. They kill innocent people or
government/state/or city officials who oppose their wants. The purpose of the actions the terrorists
have is to create an atmosphere of fear to suit their wants. Terrorists murder and kidnap people, set off
bombs, hijack airplanes, set fires, and commit other serious crimes. But the goals of terrorists differ
from those of ordinary criminals. Most criminals want money or some other form of personal gain.
Most terrorists commit crimes to support political causes. Features of terrorism. Terrorist acts are
committed for various reasons.
They often threaten to kill the hostages if their demands are not met. Some terrorism involves the
intentional release of toxic chemicals, poisons, or other harmful substances. Bombings makeup about
half of all terrorist acts. Terrorism may cross national

Mango Street Vignettes
The House on Mango Street contains a variety of vignettes that reveal details of the author s life while
growing up. The most important theme throughout these vignettes is identity and trying to find it. This
theme of identity includes ethnicity, gender, economic status, etc. Also, this set of stories was able to
hold my interest. This is mostly because it exposed me to a culture that it almost foreign to me. This
piece also made me realize how lucky I am to live in Chatham, which is much nicer than the situation
as described in the vignettes.
To begin, the theme that I found the most important in these vignettes was identity. More specifically,
the individual identity or the narrator, Sandra Cisneros. She has a difficult upbringing as ... Show more

One example of this was found in the vignette, Papa Who Wakes up Tired in the Dark, and shows how
the narrator s family deals with death and the rituals that go with it, ... they will (take) a black and
white photo in front of the tomb with flowers shaped like spears in a white vase because this is how
they send the dead away in that country (Cisneros 56). I felt like this was an important book because it
details a very emotionally taxing point in Sandra and her families lives. This culture is also a victim of
harsh stereotypes. People believe that the neighborhoods where hispanics live are very dangerous and
these places are not safe to travel through. The vignette, Those Who Don t, detail this problem, Those
who don t know any better come to our neighborhood scared. They think that we are dangerous... But
watch us drive into a neighborhood of another color and our knees go shakity shake and our car
windows get rolled up tight and out eye look straight (Cisneros 28). This shows how people outside
their community think that they are all terrible and dangerous people, but really there are nice and
misunderstood.
In conclusion, The House on Mango Street was a very entertaining and was able to hold my interest. It
showed me how a different perspective on how people lived. Unique themes were also created to

Steganography, An Ulterior, And Lesser Known Approach For...
Steganography is an ulterior, and lesser known approach to private communication. Steganographic
applications work by taking in three things: a cover work; this could be a picture, an audio file, a video
file, etc., a message to be embedded, and a stego key; we don t always use one but if we do it is much
like an encryption key. Steganography applications will then embed the message into the cover work.
This is most commonly performed using a method known as LSB embedding, which I will explain in
detail.
LSB embedding involves taking the gray scale values of certain pixels, and making sure the LSB, or
least significant bit is set to the bit value needed. If we have a gray scale value of 51, or 00110011, and
we need to have a 0 embedded at this pixel value, the application will simply change the gray scale
value to 50, or 00110010. If the grey scale value already ended in a 0 we would leave it as is. Within
LSB embedding are three options for how the pattern of pixels are chosen. The first method; which
has the lowest form of security, is sequential. This method embeds the pixels in a sequential manner,
for example: left to right, top to bottom. The second method is pseudo (random). This method works
exactly as it sounds and simply embeds based on a random pattern, which can be initialized by the
stego key provided. The third, and most secure, method is adaptive. Adaptive works intelligently, by
first analyzing the cover work and identifying locations where statistical

How To Win Moneyball Analysis
Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis tells the story of the Oakland A s, a
baseball team that was economically at a disadvantage, and how they relied on statistics to compete
with wealthier teams. At the time, the process of selecting players was strongly based on usual
statistics such has batting average, RBIs, stolen bases, and number of hits. The Oakland A s General
Manager, Billy Beane, changed the game by focusing on Sabermetrics, an unconventional sports
analysis that valued the less obvious statistics of players, such as on base and slugging percentage, that
indirectly contribute to overall wins for the team. With this change in standards for his players, Billy
Beane was able to sign players at much lower costs because traditional managers overlooked their
values.
Billy Beane hired Paul DePodesta as his assistant to incorporate sabermetrics as the two were inspired
by the idea of baseball analysis. Even with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sabermetrics successfully undermined conventional ideas of player values when the A s lost their
three highest economically valued players. Jason Isringhausen, for example, was considered so
because as a closing pitcher he had a high number of saves in a game. After studying number of saves
as a statistic, Billy Beane and Paul DePodesta discovered that saves are not often determined by the
closing pitcher. As a result, Beane was able to take the high amount of money he made from this trade
and use it to invest in his own team, and he showed that he could still win without high value players.
Still, like any other statistic, there were outliers. Jason Giambi was another huge snatch for teams.
Even though his high value came from his physical attributes and skills, he also had a high rate of
creating runs and was a loss for the Oakland

Andrew Marvell s `` Conflictual World View `` Essay
By 1642, England had descended into chaos as civil war ravaged the country. King Charles I had
dissolved Parliament in 1629 thus making the King vastly unpopular throughout his dominion. After
reestablishing the Parliament in 1640, Oliver Cromwell was elected amidst ensuing popularity as a
religious, talented military man, who supported an agenda for radical reforms (Britannica). The wars
ended with the following outcomes: Charles I beheaded, Cromwell soon in command as Lord
Protector of the Commonwealth, the eventual return to power of the Royalists and the coronation of
King Charles II in 1660. However, the tumultuous political atmosphere of the recent decades left its
mark on every citizen of the kingdoms. One of these citizens, Andrew Marvell s, conflictual world
view seems unmistakably the product of the unsettled civil war decades (1366 early 17th century
intro). Andrew Marvell was a noted scholar, a tutor to General Fairfax s daughter (a foe of Cromwell
during the English Civil wars) and eventually became a member of Parliament. He is known for his
ambiguous writings and elusive rhetoric; perhaps a defensive gesture to hide his true opinions from
the public (Norton Anthology of English Literature, 1366). The chaotic atmosphere caused much fear
in the citizens as any criticism of the government would be an affront and the punishment was often
arrest and execution. Marvell, having a secure position as tutor to Cromwell s General s daughter and

Hippocampus Drug Effects
An alcoholic beverage is a drink that contains a psychoactive drug ethanol, a depressant which in low
doses causes euphoria, reduced anxiety, sociability which in higher doses could be caused by
unconsciousness, lack of critical mental function and intoxication. Drinking alcoholic beverages is not
a current event, the production, transportation and the distribution of alcohol were banned in the 1920s
under the presidency of President Woodrow Wilson by the Eighteenth Amendment. This paper talks
about the effects of excessive drinking of alcohol termed as alcohol dependence on the volume or size
of the hippocampus of humans. The hippocampus is a small organ located in the temporal lobe. The
hippocampus is an important part of the limbic system. The hippocampus is mainly associated with
memory, mainly long term memory which is important in the learning process.

With all the gamers people play, action adventure and first person shooter are the third and fourth top

Essay Locke vs. Williams
John Locke Vs. Bernard Williams
In this essay, I will be explaining John Locke s case of the prince and the cobbler and Bernard
Williams s second description of the A body person and the B body person. Bernard Williams has the
correct analysis of the situation where the body is part of self identity since it is inevitable for us to
fear future pain.
John Locke claims that memory is the key to identity, so as far [as] someone s memory goes, is so far
the identity of the person. (Campbell) First, Locke explains the concept of body swapping in terms of
the prince and the cobbler: the transfer of memories between the body of the prince and the body of
the cobbler would mean the people have swapped bodies. (Campbell) In this example, the ... Show

Furthermore, you are also told that you will have other another person s memories and character traits.
Surely, not remembering that you will be tortured and having your memories replaced by someone
else s memories, would not comfort you very much. Williams claims that this would not alleviate your
fear in the least since you can imagine not remembering whom you, where you are, why you are there,
and finding yourself undergoing torture. If anything, this would increase your fear; and even more
important is that it would still fear the future. Williams says that nobody has changed bodies; all that
has happened here is that there are two unfortunate individuals, both has gone mad. (Campbell) The
prince now has delusions of being a cobbler and the cobbler has delusions of being the prince: same
human being, same person. Williams claims that if I, the prince, chose my body to be tortured, I would
be selecting my own future pain, even though a set of delusions (Campbell) has taken me over.
Williams says this is an equally legitimate way of describing the situation as Locke s way of
describing it; the description given seems to matters a great deal here. The two cases are related in that
they are the same exact situation. Locke and Williams both use two people in which they will swap
memories. However, the way they describe it, makes it entirely different. Locke

Women s Roles in Hiean Court of Medieval Japan
The Heian court of medieval Japan was a progressive and dynamic society where women commanded
a fair amount of power and respect. In many ways it seemed to be the basis of the rank n file , material
culture of today s society. The social structure of society throughout the court was set up in three
different ranks. In chapter two, Genji s friend, To no Chujo explained the three roles and how they
determined the role of women in court. Women of high rank would be the wife of a high ranking elite,
thus responsible for raising the future heirs, women of lower rank were concubines and often had
better relationships with the man than his wife. did It was this complicated ranking system that led to
the abundance of accepted promiscuity, however the two roles kept a bit of stability and normalcy
throughout the court.
Social rank was a main factor in determining women s role in court and from the first chapter of The
Tale of Genji author Maruabu Shikabu stressed the importance of social role. Genji s mother, often the
brunt of slanderous abuse from the Emperors wife, withdrew from court and took Genji away from
court to live with her family. Social importance was best explained though in chapter two by Genji s
friend, To no Chujo. Chujo defines the different ranks to Genji while discussing the women they have
slept with. To suggests that the three different ranks among women were; High rank, Middle Rank,
and No Rank (Commoners). Genji s mother was a lower (Middle) rank

U.s. Government s Department Of Defense
Organizational Management Approach
Introduction
The U.S. Government s Department of Defense (DoD) is a very large organization with many leaders
at various levels. From a macro level or overarching perspective the DoD is very hierarchal and
bureaucratic. Then, from a micro level perspective, there are leaders within the DoD who practice
more lateral or flat approaches to leadership. Furthermore, the DoD has both a military side where
leadership is hierarchal as well as transactional, as well as a civilian side which is much more
transformational. These varying leadership approaches within the DoD s macro level, micro level,
military, and civilian structure are all very appropriate and effective leadership approaches for this
large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These missions and goals rarely change. However, these higher level leaders, consisting of military
general officers, each have their own methods and styles of leading in terms of how they will
accomplish their defined mission and goals. These general officers direct both high ranking military
officers and civilian directorates who carry out the missions and goals set forth by their high
authorities. The macro level structure more authoritative, where direction is provided without
consulting lower levels input. Furthermore, there are specific rules and regulations and a clear division
of labor within the Government bureaucracy (Schoology, 2017). The Government s bureaucratic,
hierarchal, and authoritarian approach is very similar to Max Weber s classical organization theory as
he viewed it from a macro perspective (Onday, 2016). Conversely, the Government is very different
from a micro level perspective.
Micro Level Contingency and Lateral Approaches The micro level, below the military and civilian
directorates, the leadership is less authoritative, this is particularly true on the civilian side. The
civilian side of Government follows more of neo classical management theory, focused more on
culture and performance (Schoology, 2017). However, the military side continues to maintain a
relatively strong authoritative leadership approach down to the lowest level, due to the nature of how
they carry out their defined mission and goals. For

Cognitive Therapy ( Cbt ) Or Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Cognitive Therapy (CT) or Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapy approach to
counseling that aims at replacing faulty, unrealistic, or negative thinking patterns and self defeating
beliefs with more accurate, constructive and optimistic patterns that lead to effective understanding
and problem solving. CBT like Solution Focused Therapy is a short term, goal oriented talk therapy
that takes a hands on, practical approach to problem solving. CBT perceives problems as stemming
from commonplace processes such as faulty thinking, making incorrect inferences on the basis of
inadequate or incorrect information, and failing to distinguish between fantasy and reality (Nelson,
2011). Thus, the goal of this approach is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind
people s difficulties. Cognitive approaches includes but are not limited to social skills training, which
uses modeling and role play, social problem solving training, rational emotive therapy, the cognitive
skills program, often referred to as the reasoning, rehabilitation program, and the relapse prevention
model. CBT is beneficial because it changes the way people think and act. It is also helpful in making
people act better even if the situation remains the same. Central to cognitive approaches is the role of
thinking. The role of thinking is imperative to CBT as it significantly influences how we fell and what
we do. With its insight focused therapy attitude, and learning principles, CBT

Trotsky Vs Stalin
After Lenin s death in January of 1924, it became apparent that a power struggle between Trotsky and
Stalin had already long been brewing and would soon become far greater. Stalin had quite a different
background than both Trotsky and Lenin. Lyons had explained that Stalin had come from a different
background than Trotsky and Lenin, one where he had never even left Russia. His background largely
contributed to his varying perceptions of Russia and its regime, along with his approach as to how he
would come to power. Lyons wrote, He believed that the Communists had enough to do in Russia
itself. Stalin not only headed the the Secretariat as general secretary but led the Organizational Bureau
as well, which gave him control over the party machinery and personnel (Lyons, 2016, pg. 31). As the
notes about the interwar period had stated, Stalin was rather calculating and had conceived a strategy
that would allow for him to gain control of the state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fleeing to Mexico and eventually succumbing to his death, as ordered by Stalin. After doing so, Lyons

transform Russia into a first class industrial power as quickly as possible. He decided to bring the
entire economy under state control by nationalizing all industry and abolishing private ownership of
land in favor of a system of collectivization (Lyons, 2016, pg. 31). Stalin immediately began to

good doer. Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor. But, that doesn #39;t

Plus, in my perspective, I think Robin Hood was very materialistic. Materialistic,
this means when someone is very possessive to and highly concerned with
material things usually things like, money. I think this because, whenever Robin
Hood and his merry men had a chance they would go on the roads and wait
somewhere, and when they saw someone rich come near they would basically
invite them to a feast and charge them a fortune. I know, technically that #39;s not

Brutus s Actions In Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar Paper Brutus and his actions are well known across every culture. Brutus, a Roman
Senator, killed his best friend, Julius Caesar, in order to defend the people. These actions were
dramatized by a renowned playwright, William Shakespeare, in his famous play, Julius Caesar. To
craft his play, Shakespeare studied the real life events which occurred, and from them he created a
masterful work of art which is now famous across the globe. Shakespeare took references from
multiple sources, the largest of which was Roman author and philosopher, Plutarch. From Plutarch,
Shakespeare got his influence for the main characters; Julius Caesar, Brutus, Cassius, Antony, and
many of the conspirators. Both in the play and in real life, Brutus kills ... Show more content on

From good character development, to a strong plot, it is a good story from start to finish. What is up
for speculation; however, is whether or not Brutus was acting out of his own free will or if he was
manipulated by Cassius when he killed Caesar. While the majority of people will try and say that it
was in fact manipulation by Cassius, which caused Brutus to choose to murder his best friend, it was
not this way. Brutus was far too intelligent to allow himself to be manipulated. Also, he constantly
clashed with Cassius. Furthermore, Shakespeare s play was based off of real life events and real life
people, Brutus was no exception. In real life, Brutus killed Caesar of his own free will, and
Shakespeare followed suit by having his version of Brutus also kill Caesar of his own free will. There
is no question about it, Brutus chose to kill Caesar of his own accords, not because Cassius

The Tempest By William Shakespeare
Brown s insistence that The Tempest is a play of steeped in ambivalence and contradictions is not
entirely unfounded, however. Prospero himself is an extremely powerful magus whose power borders
on the transcendent and divine; he is also a man obsessed with perfecting his art that, at times, can be
base and wicked. He demonstrates compassion and generosity, yet his apathetic and sometimes
contemptuous treatment of other characters raises questions about his moral sensibilities. Within the
drama of the play, these paradoxes create a dynamic that highlights the contrast between Prospero and
those who (seek to) foil him Stephano, Trinculo, and Caliban characters that Brown demarcates as
masterless or othered (273). While he correctly identifies such instances of doubling, Brown conflates
these binaries as markers of colonial discourse, the colonizer and the colonized, and entirely elides the
binary of the noble and the natural. This dichotomy, which is staunchly embedded in the Renaissance
conception of natural order the great chain of being is eminent throughout the play and integral to its
thematic purpose of restoration and redemption. Brown s failure to address the great chain of being in
any capacity throughout his argument is indicative of his limited understanding of the historical
context in which The Tempest was written and the corresponding philosophical ideology that informed
Shakespeare s manifold intentions.

Essay on The Situational Leadership Model
The Situational Leadership Model
Situational leadership is interplay between the amounts of direction that a leader allows in: 1) the
amount of directive (task) behavior and 2) the amount of relationship behavior (supportive behavior).
What this means is that when an individual first begins a new task they require a lot of direction and
managerial guidance. As they learn more about the task, the amount of direction decreases until they
can make many of the decisions with the manager providing little input. The situational leadership
model developed and refined by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard divides the model into four ... Show

THE FOUR LEADERSHIP STYLES
[IMAGE]
We begin in the lower right quadrant, S1 directing leadership style. This phase is where the new
employee or older employee learning a new task begins. The directing will require that the leader
define the roles of the follower. The leader initiates problem solving and decision making and directs
communication towards the follower. The leader will tell the follower what to do, how to do it, where
to do it, and when to do it. Close supervision is also involved at this point. The X axis beginning point
is to the extreme right (high directive) indicating that leader will be providing directions. The
rectangular object showing development levels is also to the extreme right but here it signifies that the
amount of learned knowledge (amount of development to perform task) is low. The beginner may
become enthusiastic about wanting to learn. They will probably be highly committed but competence
will be low. The Y axis is on the bottom end showing us that supportive behavior is at a low point.
The second quadrant is located in the upper right, S2 coaching leadership style. This phase is where
the leader listens to the follower, provides support and encourages the follower s efforts, and facilitates
involvement with problem solving and decision making. Communication flows between leader and
follower. The X axis beginning point is to the

The Failure Of Tsar Nicholas II Of Russia
Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, the ruling Tsar for 23 years, once said: There is no justice among men.
(BrainyQuote,2017). Nicholas II was the famous last Tsar of Russia when he abdicated power to the
Provisional Government in 1917. The Russian Revolution was a catalyst for major world events and
changes that took place in the 20th century. Tsar Nicholas II of Russia was only 26 years old when he
took the throne from his father, Alexander III of Russia (Newworldencyclopedia.org, 2017). There
was a series of events leading up to this overthrow of the established monarchy. World War I was
among the most significant of these. Prior to WWI, Russia had already suffered a number of military
failures. These include the war with Japan in 1904 1905; which was a distinguished failure
(Newworldencyclopedia.org, 2017). Not only was the Russo Japanese War a military disaster, but it
was also an economic failure for Russia. The war was meant to create a patriotic fervor and unite the
citizens around Tsar Nicholas II; however, it had the opposite effect (History Learning Site, 2016).
Following the failed war, Tsar Nicholas II promised the people he would introduce reforms concerning
the people s needs. The reforms the Tsar made did nothing to help and this was only aggravated by
Russia s shortcomings in Austria Hungry and the growing agricultural failures the serfs were facing.
Russia had far less superior weapons and the gap between Russian industry and the rest of the world

Manipulation in William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew
In The Taming of the Shrew, the concept of love is a means of emotional manipulation, and
manipulation is nothing more than a means of control between men and women. William Shakespeare
critiques the patriarchal social structure by ironically employing the manipulative stance Petruchio
takes towards winning Katherine as his wife by charming her with words and manipulating her
psychologically, and then taming her after their marriage through legal, physical, financial, and
psychological control and manipulation. Though Petruchio may think he yields power over his wife,
Katherine uses obedience as a tool of manipulation and has the control of the household, as can be

If he can control the meaning of the words, he can also control the people who use those words.
Petruchio also manipulates Kate psychologically by pivoting her thoughts in the direction of them
being suited to each other for marriage. When he says I am too young for you (Act 2 Scene 1, 250), he
starts making her feel old and unwanted. This comment makes her mad, and causes her to feel the
need to prove that he is old, which she accomplishes in the next line by saying Yet you are withered
(II, 1; 251). Thus she unconsciously admits that he is at least suited to her in age for marriage, if
nothing else. By complimenting her, Petruchio is also able to play with her psychologically. He begins
by saying she is beautiful, nice, and modest. Even though he may not mean it, and Kate probably
suspects he is lying, it still has a positive effect on her. Complements boost her confidence and make
her feel wanted, which is a new experience for her. Such complements eventually lead her to believe
that he may actually love her, or that there is a possibility of love between them in the future. This
method of manipulation does have its effects, because she only opposes their marriage once in front of
her father, and after Petruchio announces that they have decided that she should still be curst [to him]
in company (II, 1; 324), but they really love each other, she offers no counterarguments.

Bloodstream Infection Paper
Reducing Hospital Acquired Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Bloodstream Infections
Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) can be used for routine patient care for treatment and
have been increasingly used over the past years. They are more invasive than a peripheral intravenous
line (PIV); however, they can be inserted at the bedside, are easily removed, and provide many
positive benefits. PICCs relieve patients from frequent venipuncture for serial lab draws, decreases
frequent re starts of PIVs, and the patient can be discharged home, if needed, for continued IV therapy.
Although there are benefits to these easily inserted central lines, central line associated bloodstream
infections (CLABSI) are a possibility (Dumont Nessselrodt, 2012). Problem PICCs are frequently
used on medical floors and intensive care units (ICUs) for further management of patient care. These

CLABSI is considered a preventable event, yet it is still a persistent problem across the U.S. Utilizing

CLABSI bundles should be introduced to nursing staff and more importantly, implemented. A few
common barriers to implementing CLABSI bundle practices include inadequate nurse to patient ratios,
inadequate education, and lack of leadership support (Kusek, 2012). Along with initiating the CLABSI

tried to limit activism and protests by blocking certain parts of the internet, such as Facebook and

This was until the male security guard made a comment of taking her down to which Janco was then able to throw her onto her side. When it was all over he realized that the girl (who was 300 plus pounds) had fallen onto his wrist which was extremely swollen. Janco says that the school almost made him pay for the medical bills until he put his foot down and said he would sue if he paid. • 6. Socrates And Louis Riel Throughout history, great minds have used situational platforms like trials to advance their ideas to large audiences. Socrates and Louis Riel are no exception to this and used their respected trials as a means of conveying a final political statement. This is evident in both Plato s The Trial and Death of Socrates and Hans V. Hansen s Reil s Defense: Perspectives on his Speeches. Both men s speeches can be seen as weak examples of forensic rhetoric and strong examples of political rhetoric due to the fact that Socrates and Riel both believed in a divine mission and cause much larger than themselves. It is clear that neither man set out to win their trial, and I argue that both Socrates and Riel s speeches were intended to politically inspire as they both saw themselves as martyrs for a greater cause. Socrates trial speech can be considered one of the most important examples of political rhetoric in history. Socrates was brought before the courts on charges of impiety and corrupting the youth of Athens because of his teachings and the politico philosophic questions he posed to his students. At the time Socrates was 70 and could have easily fled Athens with the help of his supporters however he chose to stay in Athens to face the legal consequences of his actions. Socrates had no intention of winning his trial, as Brumbaugh notes Socrates was not arrested [...] but was summoned to the court of the First Archon to file his answer to the charges against him (pg.232, ... • 8. The Common Causes Of Weight Loss One of the most common causes of weight loss is diabetes, this can range from a couple of pounds to two three stone. Weight loss is usually due to the increased metabolism and breakdown of muscle and fat due to insulin deficiency. Fluid depletion can also cause weight loss from both Polydipsia and Polyuria. When an individual presents with these features it is important for them to be picked up quickly otherwise Ketoacidosis can occur which may be fatal. Ketones are made up of acetone and two organic acids beta hydroxybutyric acid and acetoacetic acid. The liver and other cells can only process limited amounts of fatty acids, lipids and ketones at any given time, any excess of keytones is then secreted into the blood causing ketoacidosis. The binding of ketoacids and bicarbonate buffers within the blood, leading to an eventual decrease of PH in the blood due to decreased levels of serum bicarbonate (Gould and Dyer, 2011: 551). As dehydration occurs within the kidneys the demand on glomerular filtration decreases and so to does the excretion of acids leading to decompensated metabolic acidosis. Diabetic ketoacidosis or hyperosmolar coma are mostly due to the hyperosmolarity of the blood, secondary to hyperglycemia and the result of this can be fatal if not treated within a short period of time Less obvious presentation includes tiredness and weakness which is very common in uncontrolled diabetes. They were determined to let Parliament know that they were equal to British citizens, that there would be no taxation without representation, and all efforts to stop tax on colonists would continue (Kennedy, etal 2011.) Although Lord Rockingham, the predecessor of Grenville, sought to repeal of the Stamp Act, this in no way meant Parliament was conceding their control. In fact, while the Stamp Act was repealed, another called the Declaratory Act of 1766, gave Parliament the authority to make laws binding the American Colonies, in all cases whatsoever. In 1767, George III passed the Townshend Acts to collect tax on glass, lead, paints, paper and, tea. Recognizing that tea was a favorite among the Americans, it ensured greater revenue the British government. Again, the colonists rights for representation were ignored and they started to boycott British goods and ultimately, smuggle tea. When the Quartering Act was passed, which specified that colonists were to give room and board to British troops, tension began to rise. For two years, the colonists tolerated British troops on their soil and their dissatisfaction with the British Parliament and King George III became evident through many violent riots, abusiveness of tax collectors and destruction of property. What is terrorism, everyone has a different version in their dictionary. Some blame a whole nation for terrorism, some blame a whole religious group for the actions of only a few. • 14. Steganography, An Ulterior, And Lesser Known Approach For... Steganography is an ulterior, and lesser known approach to private communication. Steganographic applications work by taking in three things: a cover work; this could be a picture, an audio file, a video file, etc., a message to be embedded, and a stego key; we don t always use one but if we do it is much like an encryption key. Steganography applications will then embed the message into the cover work. This is most commonly performed using a method known as LSB embedding, which I will explain in detail. LSB embedding involves taking the gray scale values of certain pixels, and making sure the LSB, or least significant bit is set to the bit value needed. If we have a gray scale value of 51, or 00110011, and we need to have a 0 embedded at this pixel value, the application will simply change the gray scale value to 50, or 00110010. If the grey scale value already ended in a 0 we would leave it as is. Within LSB embedding are three options for how the pattern of pixels are chosen. The first method; which has the lowest form of security, is sequential. This method embeds the pixels in a sequential manner, for example: left to right, top to bottom. The second method is pseudo (random). This method works exactly as it sounds and simply embeds based on a random pattern, which can be initialized by the stego key provided. The third, and most secure, method is adaptive. Adaptive works intelligently, by first analyzing the cover work and identifying locations where statistical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How To Win Moneyball Analysis Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis tells the story of the Oakland A s, a baseball team that was economically at a disadvantage, and how they relied on statistics to compete with wealthier teams. At the time, the process of selecting players was strongly based on usual statistics such has batting average, RBIs, stolen bases, and number of hits. The Oakland A s General Manager, Billy Beane, changed the game by focusing on Sabermetrics, an unconventional sports analysis that valued the less obvious statistics of players, such as on base and slugging percentage, that indirectly contribute to overall wins for the team. With this change in standards for his players, Billy Beane was able to sign players at much lower costs because traditional managers overlooked their values. • 16. Andrew Marvell s `` Conflictual World View `` Essay By 1642, England had descended into chaos as civil war ravaged the country. King Charles I had dissolved Parliament in 1629 thus making the King vastly unpopular throughout his dominion. After reestablishing the Parliament in 1640, Oliver Cromwell was elected amidst ensuing popularity as a religious, talented military man, who supported an agenda for radical reforms (Britannica). The wars ended with the following outcomes: Charles I beheaded, Cromwell soon in command as Lord Protector of the Commonwealth, the eventual return to power of the Royalists and the coronation of King Charles II in 1660. However, the tumultuous political atmosphere of the recent decades left its mark on every citizen of the kingdoms. One of these citizens, Andrew Marvell s, conflictual world view seems unmistakably the product of the unsettled civil war decades (1366 early 17th century intro). Andrew Marvell was a noted scholar, a tutor to General Fairfax s daughter (a foe of Cromwell during the English Civil wars) and eventually became a member of Parliament. He is known for his ambiguous writings and elusive rhetoric; perhaps a defensive gesture to hide his true opinions from the public (Norton Anthology of English Literature, 1366). The chaotic atmosphere caused much fear in the citizens as any criticism of the government would be an affront and the punishment was often arrest and execution. • 24. Essay Locke vs. Williams John Locke Vs. Bernard Williams In this essay, I will be explaining John Locke s case of the prince and the cobbler and Bernard Williams s second description of the A body person and the B body person. Bernard Williams has the correct analysis of the situation where the body is part of self identity since it is inevitable for us to fear future pain. John Locke claims that memory is the key to identity, so as far [as] someone s memory goes, is so far the identity of the person. (Campbell) First, Locke explains the concept of body swapping in terms of the prince and the cobbler: the transfer of memories between the body of the prince and the body of the cobbler would mean the people have swapped bodies. Surely, not remembering that you will be tortured and having your memories replaced by someone else s memories, would not comfort you very much. Williams claims that this would not alleviate your fear in the least since you can imagine not remembering whom you, where you are, why you are there, and finding yourself undergoing torture. If anything, this would increase your fear; and even more important is that it would still fear the future. Williams says that nobody has changed bodies; all that has happened here is that there are two unfortunate individuals, both has gone mad. (Campbell) The prince now has delusions of being a cobbler and the cobbler has delusions of being the prince: same human being, same person. Williams claims that if I, the prince, chose my body to be tortured, I would be selecting my own future pain, even though a set of delusions (Campbell) has taken me over. Williams says this is an equally legitimate way of describing the situation as Locke s way of describing it; the description given seems to matters a great deal here. In many ways it seemed to be the basis of the rank n file , material culture of today s society. The social structure of society throughout the court was set up in three different ranks. In chapter two, Genji s friend, To no Chujo explained the three roles and how they determined the role of women in court. Women of high rank would be the wife of a high ranking elite, thus responsible for raising the future heirs, women of lower rank were concubines and often had better relationships with the man than his wife. did It was this complicated ranking system that led to the abundance of accepted promiscuity, however the two roles kept a bit of stability and normalcy throughout the court. Social rank was a main factor in determining women s role in court and from the first chapter of The Tale of Genji author Maruabu Shikabu stressed the importance of social role. Genji s mother, often the brunt of slanderous abuse from the Emperors wife, withdrew from court and took Genji away from court to live with her family. Social importance was best explained though in chapter two by Genji s friend, To no Chujo. Chujo defines the different ranks to Genji while discussing the women they have slept with. Cognitive Therapy ( Cbt ) Or Cognitive Behavior Therapy Cognitive Therapy (CT) or Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapy approach to counseling that aims at replacing faulty, unrealistic, or negative thinking patterns and self defeating beliefs with more accurate, constructive and optimistic patterns that lead to effective understanding and problem solving. CBT like Solution Focused Therapy is a short term, goal oriented talk therapy that takes a hands on, practical approach to problem solving. CBT perceives problems as stemming from commonplace processes such as faulty thinking, making incorrect inferences on the basis of inadequate or incorrect information, and failing to distinguish between fantasy and reality (Nelson, 2011). Thus, the goal of this approach is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people s difficulties. Cognitive approaches includes but are not limited to social skills training, which uses modeling and role play, social problem solving training, rational emotive therapy, the cognitive skills program, often referred to as the reasoning, rehabilitation program, and the relapse prevention model. CBT is beneficial because it changes the way people think and act. It is also helpful in making people act better even if the situation remains the same. Central to cognitive approaches is the role of thinking. The role of thinking is imperative to CBT as it significantly influences how we fell and what we do. Stalin had quite a different background than both Trotsky and Lenin. Lyons had explained that Stalin had come from a different background than Trotsky and Lenin, one where he had never even left Russia. His background largely contributed to his varying perceptions of Russia and its regime, along with his approach as to how he would come to power. Lyons wrote, He believed that the Communists had enough to do in Russia itself. Stalin not only headed the the Secretariat as general secretary but led the Organizational Bureau as well, which gave him control over the party machinery and personnel (Lyons, 2016, pg. 31). To craft his play, Shakespeare studied the real life events which occurred, and from them he created a masterful work of art which is now famous across the globe. • 33. The Tempest By William Shakespeare Brown s insistence that The Tempest is a play of steeped in ambivalence and contradictions is not entirely unfounded, however. Prospero himself is an extremely powerful magus whose power borders on the transcendent and divine; he is also a man obsessed with perfecting his art that, at times, can be base and wicked. He demonstrates compassion and generosity, yet his apathetic and sometimes contemptuous treatment of other characters raises questions about his moral sensibilities. Within the drama of the play, these paradoxes create a dynamic that highlights the contrast between Prospero and those who (seek to) foil him Stephano, Trinculo, and Caliban characters that Brown demarcates as masterless or othered (273). While he correctly identifies such instances of doubling, Brown conflates these binaries as markers of colonial discourse, the colonizer and the colonized, and entirely elides the binary of the noble and the natural. This dichotomy, which is staunchly embedded in the Renaissance conception of natural order the great chain of being is eminent throughout the play and integral to its thematic purpose of restoration and redemption. Brown s failure to address the great chain of being in any capacity throughout his argument is indicative of his limited understanding of the historical context in which The Tempest was written and the corresponding philosophical ideology that informed Shakespeare s manifold intentions. Essay on The Situational Leadership Model The Situational Leadership Model Situational leadership is interplay between the amounts of direction that a leader allows in: 1) the amount of directive (task) behavior and 2) the amount of relationship behavior (supportive behavior). As they learn more about the task, the amount of direction decreases until they can make many of the decisions with the manager providing little input. Nicholas II was the famous last Tsar of Russia when he abdicated power to the Provisional Government in 1917. The Russian Revolution was a catalyst for major world events and changes that took place in the 20th century. Tsar Nicholas II of Russia was only 26 years old when he took the throne from his father, Alexander III of Russia (Newworldencyclopedia.org, 2017). There was a series of events leading up to this overthrow of the established monarchy. World War I was among the most significant of these. Prior to WWI, Russia had already suffered a number of military failures. These include the war with Japan in 1904 1905; which was a distinguished failure (Newworldencyclopedia.org, 2017). Not only was the Russo Japanese War a military disaster, but it was also an economic failure for Russia. Manipulation in William Shakespeare s The Taming of the Shrew In The Taming of the Shrew, the concept of love is a means of emotional manipulation, and manipulation is nothing more than a means of control between men and women. William Shakespeare critiques the patriarchal social structure by ironically employing the manipulative stance Petruchio takes towards winning Katherine as his wife by charming her with words and manipulating her psychologically, and then taming her after their marriage through legal, physical, financial, and psychological control and manipulation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If he can control the meaning of the words, he can also control the people who use those words. Petruchio also manipulates Kate psychologically by pivoting her thoughts in the direction of them being suited to each other for marriage. When he says I am too young for you (Act 2 Scene 1, 250), he starts making her feel old and unwanted. This comment makes her mad, and causes her to feel the need to prove that he is old, which she accomplishes in the next line by saying Yet you are withered (II, 1; 251). Thus she unconsciously admits that he is at least suited to her in age for marriage, if nothing else. By complimenting her, Petruchio is also able to play with her psychologically. He begins by saying she is beautiful, nice, and modest. Even though he may not mean it, and Kate probably suspects he is lying, it still has a positive effect on her. Complements boost her confidence and make her feel wanted, which is a new experience for her. Such complements eventually lead her to believe that he may actually love her, or that there is a possibility of love between them in the future. This method of manipulation does have its effects, because she only opposes their marriage once in front of her father, and after Petruchio announces that they have decided that she should still be curst [to him] in company (II, 1; 324), but they really love each other, she offers no counterarguments. Bloodstream Infection Paper Reducing Hospital Acquired Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Bloodstream Infections Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) can be used for routine patient care for treatment and have been increasingly used over the past years. They are more invasive than a peripheral intravenous line (PIV); however, they can be inserted at the bedside, are easily removed, and provide many positive benefits. PICCs relieve patients from frequent venipuncture for serial lab draws, decreases frequent re starts of PIVs, and the patient can be discharged home, if needed, for continued IV therapy. Although there are benefits to these easily inserted central lines, central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) are a possibility (Dumont Nessselrodt, 2012).
