Wilbur Unisex Research Paper
In a small, sleepy town in upstate New York, a devastating crime has been committed. Dr. Andreas
Poppy was known to be a bit of a lazy doctor when making house calls. He would leave a pill and a
bill and leave the rest up to fate. This earned him a few enemies along the way, but no one thought that
he would ever be kidnapped and used for his access to prescription drugs. When Wilbur Unisex came
upon the scene he was able to deduce that four men had been waiting to kidnap Dr. Poppy, take him,
his drugs, and his prescription pad, and make a break for the Canadian border. The evidence in the
room that Wilbur Unisex came upon points to four men as the culprits. First, the shelves along the
wall held items that would indicate four people had been using the cabin. There were four sets of
dishes and cups stacked on the shelves and there were large containers of food, which would indicate
that more than one person was using the cabin. Another piece of evidence that suggest that four people
were present was the arrangement of the room itself. There is evidence that there were three men
playing cards at the table. There were three hands set up around the table. ... Show more content on

One can conclude that the men were from Canada from the coins they were using to gamble with.
They left behind several Canadian coins on the table, which is a clear indication that they men were
not from upstate New York. Another clue was left behind to tell police where they were planning on
taking Dr. Poppy. A small map with an X marking a spot in Canada was lying carelessly on the floor
by the door. There is also evidence that Dr. Poppy was taken, and not killed. Next to the map is what
appears to be tape and rope. This would suggest that the men bound the doctor and took him with
them on their trip back up to Canada. In Canada, the men hope to use Dr. Poppy to secure more

Siddhartha Enlightenment Journey
Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse is a about a young man who wanted to find spiritual enlightenment. He
wants to find this spiritual enlightenment because he isn t pleased with his current lifestyle. His family
s original religion was Brahmin, but now he wants to switch to a Semana. He attempted to find
enlightenment using different spiritual pathways, but he ends up finding enlightenment among a river.
Herman Hesse uses different literature lenses to describe how Siddhartha s spiritual enlightenment
journey went.
Before Siddhartha leaves to find spiritual enlightenment he wants to get his father s approval first. His
father feels angry about the decision that he is about to make and says he will end up dying in the
wilderness. Siddhartha s father says, And would you rather die, than obey your father? This signifies
that Siddhartha s his feels angry about him wanting to become a Semana. And sociologically it shows
how much culture meant to the people living during this era. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some of the different religions didn t work out for Siddhartha and he found himself feeling lost. He
states, What is meditation? What is leaving one s body? What is fasting? What is holding one s
breath? It is fleeing from the self, it is a short escape of the agony of being a self, it is a short numbing
of the senses against the pain and the pointlessness of life. This explains that Siddhartha begins to see
that what the Semana s practiced was pointless and he needed to find another way to spiritual
enlightenment. Historically this helps us learn more about what the Semana s did to help them reach
their spiritual enlightenment and how it wasn t the right religion choice for

Big Bang Theory Or A Big Fabrication
Adair Day
AP English IV
Mrs. Britt Collins
14 March 2016
Big Bang Theory or a Big Fabrication The concept of creation has boggled human s minds for
centuries. Human nature has an intuitive sense of longing for an answer to solve the unknown, and
creation embodies the concept of unknown. In an effort to compile reason and scientific knowledge,
an explanation of the formation of the universe was formed and is widely known as The Big Bang
Theory. The Big Bang Theory is considered, ...the leading scientific explanation for the formation of
the universe (Howell). The Big Bang Theory articulates that before this event there was nothing; and
after it there was something. This suggestion to how the universe was created was originally born
from the sighting that the surrounding galaxies are moving away from our own at an immense speed
as if they had been propelled by some force (Howell). The standard theory states that the entire
universe originated as a condensed, infinitely pressured, singularity, which defies the laws of today s
understanding of physics. It is a misconception this event occurred as an explosion; rather it resembled
more of an expansion. At one moment there was nothing in existence and in the following, the
universe expanded as a balloon would, from a sub atomic particle, to all that it is today. This notion of
how the universe was created, is nothing more than a shot into the dark, literally, and holds no validity.

is his actions against the church that annoyed the catholic community in the Europe especially even in
France. Writer find Napoleon s morale collapse by several suicide attempt as follows:
It was Caulaincourt who nursed him back to health when he tried to commit suicide by swallowing a

paying expensive prices because of the perceived value from eating at the fine dining restaurant.
Casual dining restaurants are quite similar to fast casual dining which the only difference is it has a
table service. The environment of the restaurant is suitable for a family to dine in. The prices are more
expensive than fast casual dining, but cheaper than fine dining restaurant. The restaurants have waiters

Canada helps many third world countries because Canadians feel sympathy for the people in third
world countries, it helps the global economy, and it builds a good reputation and international
relationship. Many Canadians will feel sympathy in the problems and environment people in the third
world countries are living compared to the life that Canadians themselves have. Therefore Canadians
will donate, make charity and urge the Canadian government to help the third world countries. Canada
helps the global development and economy by giving aid to third world countries. Canada in return

Jazz Concert Report Sample
On March 30th, 2017 I attended a well performed jazz concert at Prince George s Community
College. The concert was performed by a group called The Reginald Cyntje Group. The Reginald
Cyntje Group was made up of Brian Settles, Herman Burney, Lenny Robinson, Hope Udobi, and
Reginald Cyntje. The group performed seven songs including: The Rise of the Protester, Ballad for the
Masses, Chant of the Revolt, Descension and Ascension, No Justice No Peace, The Piece of
Resistance, and Blues People vs the Deplorables. While I enjoyed all of the songs my favorite was the
Dance of the Crooked Heads, which will be the topic of my report.
The Dance of the Crooked Heads was performed by Settles playing a tenor saxophone, Burney
playing a bass, Robinson playing drums, Udobi playing the piano, and Cyntje playing the trombone.
There was not anyone singing or doing vocals. The genre of the song was jazz and the musical style of
the composition was instrumental. I believe it is instrumental because it did not contain a voice
accompaniment, only instrumental. As stated before the genre is jazz, which can be said has smooth
and unrestricted sounds and I think this describes The Dance of the Crooked Heads perfectly. The
song also has an element of jazz which is syncopation. Syncopation is when there is a variety of the
rhythms of the song and they made a part or all of the song off beat. ... Show more content on

The Juvenile Justice Is A Legal System
Children are often is born innocent. It is the way they are natured that determines whether they will
remain law abiding citizens or not. Barton and Butts (2008) asserts that Children who are nurtured
under tender care and attention tend to grow into law abiding citizens. According to Scott and
Steinberg (2008) several factors including mental, moral, spiritual and physical factors can impact on
a child development. The ability of children to realize their full potential is determined by these
factors. Conversely, wrong company, negligence, lack of basic needs, harmful surroundings and other
abuses may negatively affect a child and turn him or her into a delinquent. The term juvenile who
originates from the word juvenis means young. A child or a Juvenile is considered a minor under the
law. This is a person who is below eighteen years of age. On the other hand, juvenile delinquency or
juvenile crime refers to the involvement of a minor or a person under age 18 in an illegal act. The
juvenile justice is a legal system whose task is to protect children. It deals with children s protection
and those in conflict with the Indian law (Scott Steinberg, 2008). The ever changing society modern
society, children tend to rediscover themselves before they attain the majority age. It has been argued
that the increasing exposure of children to the media including the internet, music, radio, video games,
and television impacts on their psychological development. This make children o

Take The Wicker Man Analysis
Sometimes it s hard to define a particular horror movie s genre, but in an attempt to sort through the
confusion, I m going to provide an explanation of both the basic genres in horror, of which there are
about 4 with closely related branches in their family tree. Often horror movies tend to fuse different
film genre elements together to create a horrific masterpiece, or just something awful to watch that
ends in disaster. I m not talking about the movie plot itself, but those failed attempts at crafting
masterful cinema. Take the Wicker Man, for instance. This film includes elements of psychological
horror, fantasy, macabre, thriller, and even exploitation horror.
Basic Horror Genres
Creature Features Creature features include, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prime examples are Dead Alive, Evil Dead 1 2, and Army of Darkness.
Exploitation Horror Exploitation horror films generally exhibit blood, guts, and gore for the sake of
provoking a shocking reaction in these horrific movies. Splatter flicks (I Spit on Your Grave) are
included in this genre, often along with cannibal (We Are What We Are), sexual deviancy (A Serbian
Film), murderous cult (Bless the Child), and backwoods psycho motifs (House of 1,000 Corpses the
Devils Reject) running through them.
Urban Legends Often urban legends come in the form of a horror anthology, which is a set of stories
that can be related on unrelated that are typically short and told by a person in a position of wisdom,
such as Jud Crandall in Pet Cemetary, who is a very elderly, local man who provides information that
to live becomes quite valuable to Dr. Creed, as a new town resident.
Urban legends aren t always a story told in an anthology form. Often, a good urban legend or horrific
folktale has enough detail to be a decent horror story on it s own. Lizzie Borden Took an Axe and the

Plastics And The Plastic Age
The current period in human history is referred to as the plastic age (Cózar et al 2014). Plastic is
synthetic polymers derived from petroleum (Vikas Dwarakish 2015), it is lightweight, inexpensive to
produce and hailed as an industrial achievement (Detloff Istel 2016). Moreover, plastic does not
decompose, the durable material simply breaks into smaller particles, pervading the water and marine
life (Detloff Istel 2016). Our current society has established a constant consume and discard rhythm,
fuelling the plastic economy . Marine plastic pollution mainly occurs from land based plastic debris,
comprised of: littering, incessant plastic bag use and inappropriate disposal (Derriak 2002).
Microplastics are pieces of plastic less than five millimetres in size (Detloff Istel 2016). These
particles account for 92% of the plastics in the ocean (Shim Thomposon 2015). Microplastics have
become ubiquitous in the ocean, found as far as the Arctic and Antarctic seas (Obbard et al 2014 as
cited in Shim Thomposon 2015; Law Thompson 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015). Plastic
pollution is also significantly damaging the fragile marine ecosystem, as well as massacring innocent
marine creatures (Deltoff Istell 2016; Avio, Gorbi Regoli 2017). Overall, preventing ocean plastic
pollution is difficult, due to the large volume of production and contamination, particularly
microplastics, coupled with inadequate disposal practices of plastic.
In 2014, 311 million tonnes of plastic were produced (Detloff Istel 2016), and half was disposed of
within the year (Singh Sharma 2016). The most commonly used and plentiful polymers are: high
density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polypropylene and
polyethylene terephthalate (Andray Neal 2009 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). These polymers
account for 90% of total plastic production, and as a result are the most common plastics found in
aquatic environments (Andray 2011 and Engel 2012 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). Plastic debris
often migrates to form five subtropical gyres, large garbage patches colloquially dubbed marine soup
(Eriksen et al 2013; Weinstein 2009). It is estimated five to thirteen tonnes of

Compare And Contrast Anita Desai And Kamala Markandaya
Anita Desai is more interested in the interior landscape of the mind than in political and social
realities. Writing, for her is an effort to discover, and then to underline, and finally to convey the true
significance of things . Her novels according to her, deal with the terror of facing, single handed, the
ferocious assaults of existence. Anita Desai s protagonists are mostly women who, though they have
reached different stages in life from school girl to grandmother are all fragile introvert trapped in their
own skins. Their emotional trauma sometimes leads to violent death, in the end. As an artist Kamala
Markandaya s fiction is concerned with change in feminine sensibility brought about by the social,
economic and cultural forces, whereas Anita Desai s major concern is about exploration of the
psychological condition of the oppressed hyper sensitive women. The synoptic views of Anita Desai
and Kamala Markandaya s portray the women protagonists in terms of the shifting sensibilities and
changing attitudes of married Indian women. It also tries to analyze the portrayal of women characters
that belong to rural and urban upper classes of Indian society. As an artist Kamala Markandaya s

I strongly disagree and believe that if someone cannot consider their house a home, it has a lot to do
with the attitudes of those living in it. I also believe that a house is the place where most teenagers
remain until, at least, the age of eighteen because of not being able to afford their own house. On the
other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a
loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Many of them tend to feel this way because as they
grow older they begin to only think of themselves and become very self centered or selfish. These
feelings of selfishness usually do not change until teenagers begin progressing into adulthood. If a
teenager sees how their selfishness negatively affects their family and they begin to change their ways,
while still in their teenage years, this change is usually the cause of a bad event that left them lonely
and in the dark. This event could have been something along the lines of tough love from family
members which caused this person to look back on events they regretted from the past and helped
them to look forward to changing these actions for a better future. Many of my friends complain about

False Memory Syndrome
Psychologists have diligently studied the human mind for many years and have yet to discover some
of the ways that the brain performs simple and complex tasks. Since the knowledge that has been
obtained concerning processes of the brain remains a mere fraction compared to what is unknown
about cognitive functioning, individuals cannot fully grasp the reasoning behind why the brain
performs some of the acts it does. Many people daydream, picture themselves recovering lost items in
obscure places, or even create stories repeated so much that individuals begin to believe they may
have happened; all three of these examples are forms of creating a false memory. Many psychologists
have researched, evaluated, and experimented with false memory, which has lead to the discovery of
False Memory Syndrome, a condition in which individuals contract false memories while almost
always remaining oblivious to the act of creating a memory that is not factual or concrete (Berger 1).
False memory syndrome develops as a result of many different internal and external forces such as
mind manipulation in psychological malpractice, severe trauma to the brain in the first few years of
life, a traumatic experience, or even by forcing one s self into believing an entirely made up thought;
however, seemingly healthy individuals can contract the syndrome without the slightest idea it is
present.
Some people tend to use a coping mechanism called confabulation to put their mind in a state of
peace,

Canadian Commitment In Canadian Peacekeeping
Canadians pride themselves on being a peacekeeping country and many believe that peacekeeping
represents a defining aspect of Canadian identity because it reflects fundamental values, beliefs and
interests. Canada has been a leader in peace operations since its development that spearheaded by a
Canadian. In fact, Canada s role as peacekeeper remains the main focus of the Canadian military after
its invention around 60 years ago, originally started by a Canadian. Their efforts have gained an
international reputation for Canada as a significant contributor to international peace and stability.
While Canada has an exemplary history in UN peacekeeping, the current extent of its contribution,
both in terms of peacekeeping personnel and percentage of funds to peacekeeping missions, are on a
clear decline. The belief that Canada is a peacekeeping country is misguided because recent Canadian
commitment shows a sharp decline in Canadian participation in UN peacekeeping. Surprisingly, as of
March 2007, Canada ranked 59th out of 114 countries in terms of military and police contributions to
UN operations. Despite Canadian declined involvement in peacekeeping during the last decade, it still

The Super Bowl- Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is modern day slavery, which leads to kidnapping, drugs, forced sex, forced labor
or death. Consequently, many victims which include men as well as women and children from all the
countries are being kidnapped, bought and sold against their will, which are odious crimes in the 21st
century. Therefore, Abolishing justice in the 21st century (A21) organization made a campaign poster
The Super Bowl Human Trafficking contains calculated information that The Super Bowl is known as
the largest human trafficking incident in the United States. The notice contains an extemporaneous
photo of a woman who runs through a tunnel towards the light. A21 organization strongly believes
there are no unscathed people around the world, therefore human beings should work together, and
consequently the human trafficking will end. The art director of the poster is unknown; the available
information shows that this poster belongs to A21 organization. I retrieved this placard from the
internet, from Tina Kaufmann s article Super Bowl is single largest magnet for sex trafficking, child
prostitution in US , which she published in February 1st, 2013 on the website of WCPO. The intended
argument of the placard was to look around as well as to pay attention to what is going on at the time
of the Super Bowl, principally, parents need to look after very carefully for their children in an
addition to speak up if they notice something suspicious, nevertheless save people from the

Analysis on Atheism
To be honest with you I think some of McCloskey questions of the existence of God are based and as
a Christian I know I have questioned the existence of God at one point in my life. I had to really learn
the hard way. From the article one can see that McCloskey is trying very hard to dismiss every claim
of the theistic view. From the videos on blackboard, when someone decides to prove something or
someone, then that means there is certainty and assurance that thing is absolutely true. The truth of the
matter is that we cannot prove one hundred percent of the existence of God and that is why an Atheist
like McCloskey would say that without evidence then there is no God. McCloskey try s his best to
scientifically prove that the creation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that every argument is defeasible. I think that the reason that McCloskey is saying this is
because he is arguing the God of the bible and not the minimalistic ideal of God. Everyone is entitled
to believe what he or she wants to believe, he saying that the cosmological argument, does not entitle
us to an all powerful and all perfect God but that still does not disvalue the rational of there being a
God in the first place and I believe that makes his statement meaningless in disproving the necessity
and presence of God.
When it comes to the teleological argument, McCloskey also claims that the teleological argument
lacks premises due to similar reasons as the cosmological argument. In short both arguments do not
prove God as a designer. In his mind, this argument is faulty because it does not show enough
evidence for the existence of God. What he means when he argues for a genuine indisputable example
of design of the universe is that he desired to see obvious proof for the existence of God. He disagrees
with the fact that it is impossible to proof something with one hundred evidence. In Evans and Manis,
when they talk about some noticeable evidences that prove the existence of God in Philosophy of
religion, they said that the way in which nature and the universe is organized and structured there must

Thesis About Street Children
I. Introduction
Everyone deserves to have a home that they can live, a sufficient food and things that makes them
contented although other are not comfortable to their life. Street children are those who are seen in the
street and under the bridges. Orphanage is one of the best places for the street children to live. In this
institution they will guided and they will take care by the officials. Some parents are not responsible to
handle such things because of the way they live. Because of the poverty a lot of parents are force to
abandon their children. And the children are needed to work for their daily needs.
II. PROBLEM STATEMENT
We can see a lot of children sleeping in the street. We have many orphanages here in the Philippines
but the majority of this is occupied of street children. Due to the poverty and parent s lack of interest
in taking good care of their children many are seen by the roads, under the bridges and those chasing
cars to ask for alms. Some are out of school others are driven in pushing and using drugs. These
reasons are some of the causes why some children are involved with gambling and robbery. Early
pregnancy is also one of the reasons why street children are mounting. ... Show more content on

As he stepped on a particularly creaky floorboard, she seemed to become aware of his presence. Her

that he d almost reduced her to tears. Good Merlin, he thought, he almost felt bad. That was a first.
Pushing this disturbing thought aside, he decided to pry. So, Greengrass, got any jobs lined up yet?

Brown Sugar Solubility
The ability a substance has of dissolving is known as, solubility. Solute, is the substance being
dissolved, while solvent is the substance in which the solute is being dissolved in. The final product of
a solute and solvent mixing together is known as, a solution. Considering the fact that the research
question states that the purpose of this experiment is to understand how the mass of brown sugar
effects the time it takes to dissolve in 50ml of water, the solute of this experiment would be brown
sugar, while the solvent would be the 50ml of water. Five different masses of brown sugar will be

One of the main purpose of any type of sugar is to act as sweeteners, therefore they are found in many
kitchens throughout the world. Sugar also plays a huge part in reactions occurring, since it assists in
important chemical reactions that take place whist cooking and/or baking. Sugar has the ability to act
as a solute in many solutions, for example they have the ability to dissolve in water, therefore they are
soluble. This is because when sugar is placed in water, the sucrose molecule start breaking from the
sugar crystal, and begin to immediately get surrounded by water molecules, and eventually bond with
the water molecules. The fact that the negative and positive areas on the sucrose molecules attract the
polar water molecules, is also why sugar dissolves in water. Therefore in theory, the larger the
amount(mass) of sugar placed in water, the longer the sugar should take to dissolve completely, since
there would be more sucrose molecules to bond with the water molecules. The concept of brown sugar
dissolving in water is relevant to real life, due to the fact that this solution is constantly created by
numerous people as a part of their daily

Mirror Neurology
On one hand, the genetic theory provides a greater reasoning for a link between origin and social
function of mirror neuron, while on the other hand, the associative learning account does not
necessitate this evolutionary presumption. Natural selection is an integral factor in the evolutionary
theory, but it maintains a supplementary role in the associative learning theory in which the individual
environment and sensory input throughout a lifespan is indispensable in understanding of the
development of mirror neurons (Cook et al., 2014).
There is evidence from Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation studies that suggests a plastic human mirror
neuron system (Mehta et al., 2015). However more research in this area must be done to confirm
noteworthy and symptomatically noticeable plasticity of the mirror neuron system. Nevertheless, if the
associative learning theory of mirror neuron origin is correct, then there may be great implications for
treatment and therapies for individuals who have disorders or diseases associated with stunted mirror
neuron systems, such as schizophrenia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

psychomotor activity, loss of interest, problems concentrating or making decisions, altered sleep
patterns, weight loss or gain, fatigue, recurrent thoughts of death, and feelings of worthlessness or

One possibility is the decrease in diagnosis of MDD by primary care physicians due to somatic rather
than psychological presenting symptoms.
Functional consequences of MDD vary but typically depend on the severity of the symptoms.
Symptoms vary from no noticeable outward changes to total functional incapacity. Suicide attempts
are higher in females, but completion rates are higher in males. Other risk factors for suicide include
living alone, feelings of helplessness and borderline personality disorder.
Treatments
Based on a systematic review of 44 clinical trials dating from January 1, 1990 to January 13, 2015, an
effective evidence based first step intervention for managing mild to severe MDD is second generation
antidepressants. Approximately 60 % of patients respond; however 70% do not remit. Of the several
different families of antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), tricyclic
antidepressants (TCAs), norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (NRIs), and monoamine oxidase inhibitors
(MAOIs), SSRIs are the most commonly prescribed. SSRIs, initially discovered as more tolerable
forms of TCAs and MAOIs, based on the monoaminergic hypothesis, the theory that depression
results from low levels of serotonin in the brain, work by inhibiting serotonin reuptake receptors
present on presynaptic neurons producing an increase of serotonin in the brain.

Community Immersion Analysis On Community
Introduction
The definition of Community, Netting, Kettner, McMurty and Thomas (2012) stated by Warren (1978)
Community is the combination of social units and systems that perform the major social functions
relevant to meeting people s needs on a local level. (p.133). Understanding communities is important
to social workers as they have, Netting et al (2012) to know individuals functions within larger
systems, understanding of its history and that communities constantly change (p. 168). A community
has many parts that make it work together; when one part is not working well, it affects the entire
system. Social Workers are able to analyze, interpret data and work with community groups and
leaders to find solutions to improve the workings of that community to its full potential.
This community immersion analysis will focus on its community s social agencies, diversity and
cultural richness. Systems Theory applies to this area as the macro system of this community s main
downtown street is filled with stores, restaurants, cultural establishments where locals as well as
tourist convene (Netting, 2012) that carries out production as well as school and religious sites work to
socialize community members. (P.140)

Macbeth Tomorrow And Tomorrow
Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow.... These are some of the opening words to one of the most
famous soliloquy ever written by William Shakespeare. If you are familiar with this quote then you
know that it was said by Macbeth in Act Five, Scene Five of Shakespeare s famous play Macbeth.
Macbeth shares these thoughts with the audience after his wife, Lady Macbeth, commits suicide
overcome with the guilt of killing King Duncan. Ever since the death of Duncan, Lady Macbeth had
been having trouble sleeping and getting over the guilt of planning and helping with the murder of the
old great King of Scotland. Some argue that this soliloquy is the actually point in the play Macbeth
where Macbeth himself starts to realize that he is almost done. ... Show more content on

To a certain extent I can relate to this thought because most of us will live life and not do anything
majorly important, but even the smallest things make a difference. For the main reason that even the
smallest things in life make a difference it s easy to see that everyone makes a difference and that life
is not just a waste of time. For example if you were to walk down the street and help someone carry
their groceries to their car or into their house it might inspire them to help someone else. The theory is
that if you do something to help someone they might feel more likely to help someone who would do
the same and in the end more people would be helping each other. This seemingly small act would
argue that no one s life is a waste. Macbeth on the other hand is arguing that everyone s life is waste
because no one truly does anything important with their lives; more specifically Macbeth views his
life and the life of his wife as wasteful because all they did was murder a perfectly good king in self
interest. We see this quote in act five, scene five, lines 24 28; Life s but a walking shadow, a poor
player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an
idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. Not only does Macbeth say that life is wasteful, he
says that it represents nothing. By this he means that everyone is living for nothing and is wasteful at
the same time, no one is important. I believe that Macbeth might have had different aspect of this idea
had he not wasted away his life by murdering someone out of self interest. Personally I think that
Macbeth would ve had a different view on this idea had he not just lost his wife, who left behind
nothing but sorrow for Macbeth

The North and South in Antebellum United States
The North and South in Antebellum United States In the time just before the Civil War, the United
States was one of the most successful nations in the world. The United States had become the world s
leading cotton producing country and had developed industry, which would in the future, surpass that
of Great Britain. Also, the United States possessed an advanced railroad and transportation system.
However, despite its successes, the United States was becoming increasingly divided. The North and
the South had many distinct differences in terms of their social, cultural, and economic characteristics
that brought about sectionalism and, eventually, the Civil War. The North s social structure was very
different from that of the South. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Factories in the North attracted former subsistence farmers because it was more efficient to buy food
rather than to grow it. Systems like the Lowell System employed young women, provided them with
room and board, and paid the women for their work in the factory. With the rise of numerous new
American inventions, machines became more efficient and the United States had soon developed one
of the best industrial economies in the world. Because of the need for effective transportation to
distribute goods, new forms of transportation such as elaborate railroad and canal systems emerged.
The south, on the other hand, clung to the slave based plantation system. The economy was based
largely on the production of raw materials, mainly cotton. Eli Whitney s cotton gin allowed the
cultivation of short staple cotton to bring Southern planters great success. Because the cotton industry
was so lucrative, Southerners had no reason to become industrialized. However, the industrial
economy of the North and the agrarian economy of the South led to a colonial relationship between
the two, meaning that the South sold raw materials to the North in exchange for manufactured goods.
The system put the South in an inferior position to the North, which obviously upset Southerners and
led to greater tension between the two regions. In the years prior to the Civil War, the Northern and
Southern regions of the U.S.

Franz Marc Deer
Vivid colors, sharp lines and turns, contrast, variety, this painting has it all. It is beautiful and
extremely unique, it is whimsical and creative, it is a piece of art that not many of us can understand.
When I first looked at Deer in the Forest painted by Franz Marc in 1913, I saw bright colors and a
couple deer, I saw trees and an owl. I saw a forest. I could see red, orange, yellow, green, and even
shades of blue, there was brown and white, with hints of black and grey. The painting seems flat, there
were no three dimensional objects or any painting techniques to make the picture pop out at you. The
lines are extremely straight, however, there are some curved lines. Deer in the Forest is an abstract
piece. Deer, the deer are the central focus of this painting. They are centrally placed and proportional
in size to the rest of the objects in the painting. The contrast of colors is very different in my eyes, I
am not used to seeing all of the colors of the rainbow in one picture, it is just odd to me, however, in
this situation, I find it very pleasing. To me, the colors are extremely dull, he used the lowest variant
of the colors and placed them in a way that made them somewhat pop at your eyes. It catches your
attention, in the best way possible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tempest in a Bottle
Old enough to fight, Old enough to drink. We all know that famous saying. Do you agree with this
quote? I don t agree with it. Teenage and underage college students drinking have been a longstanding
problem in the American culture. They look at drinking as something glamorous, and I am here to say
that I feel the drinking age should be higher. Just because at the age of eighteen you are a legal adult
and can do adult things like vote, smoke, marry, drive, fly, pay taxes, take out loans, hold public
office, serve on a jury, and fight for their country doesn t mean you should have a drink. My first

that they don t know when they will be able to drink again is the reason why most underage teens and
college student tend to get overly drunk when they get a chance. As a result there are problems as
serious as deaths. My last reason is that may save a life. According to the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration, increasing the minimum drinking age to 25 or leaving it at 21 is credited with
having saved 18,200 lives on the national s highway. The National Highway Traffic Safety estimates
that a legal drinking age of 21 saves 700 to 1,000 lives annually. Since 1976, these laws have
prevented more than 21,000 traffic death. But I feel if the drinking age was raised to 25 it would help
prevent early teen alcoholism. If not adolescents who begin drinking in life early run the risk of
developing serious alcohol problems. They are also at risk for a variety of adverse consequences,
including risky sexual activity and poor performance in school.

Ban on the Usage of Cell Phone while Driving
Cell phone ban while driving Many states in America according to their research have found out that
use of cell phones in cars have contributed to several accidents as well as traffic violations and are
now legislating rules and regulations on cell phone usage so as to create safer driving environment in
the states hence reducing the number of accidents each and every day caused by use of cell phones
while driving. Jennifer Clark (2012 ) indicates that teenage drivers were banned from any cell phone
use while driving in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, D.C., Illinois, Indiana,
Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island,
Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. Specific ages vary by state. Michigan bans cell phones
for teens with probationary licenses in cases where the cell phone has resulted in an accident or traffic

contribute to road crashes and injuries to those both inside and outside the vehicle. According to

Analysis Of The Globe And Mail Written By Antonia Maioni
It should come as no surprise that Quebec s history is distinct and as a result, has transformed the
province into a distinct region within Canada. Canada s fête without Quebec, an article in The Globe

especially on Canada Day. Maioni discusses the importance of July 1st for Quebeckers as the fête de

Canada. She notes that for francophone Quebeckers, Canada Day is nothing short of the ordinary since
their lives do not revolve around being patriotic flag wavers (Maioni). This deep seated resentment
remains over Confederation and what is seen as a less then perfect deal stuck in order to unite what
Canadians know today to be Canada. With 2014 being historically significant in marking the 150th
anniversary of both the Charlottetown and Quebec conferences, the gathering in Quebec has been
largely omitted. Maioni argues that it is the Quebec conference that should merit some reflection since
that is where the constitutional framework was established. Unlike in Charlottetown, which become a
commemorative cottage industry as a result of central Canadians intervening on what was once
supposed to be a Maritime union (Maioni). This paper will discuss how Quebec s relationship to
Canada is framed in the media and how it affects regional experience as a result.

So processes and practices that firms utilize in order to manage knowledge are really important for
attaining strategic objectives by harnessing complexity and making the best use of existing resources
and capabilities (Zack, 1999a; Zollo and Winter, 2002). It could be forecasted that empirical study of
social network would occupy an important position in the field of management and the guiding role of
the research would become more obvious.( Yonghai, Y,2010)
Several years ago, one of the major challenges in knowledge management is to explore creative ways
to convert the tacit knowledge base in organisations into explicit knowledge (Nonaka, 1994). But with
the development of social network and social media, this challenge seems already had a good solution.
Now more and more researchers have already realized the importance of social networks and social

Recently, knowledge management (KM) has already been recognized as a key instrument to improve
effectiveness and performance in the organization (Zack et al., 2009). The OECD has recognised that

Comparison of HR Practices and Employment Relations Philosophies in China and Taiwan
Introduction
In the face of ever increasing globalization, both China and Taiwan have now joined the World Trade
Organisation (WTO); a more open market economy and closer integration with the global economic
order appears to be inevitable for both countries (Magarinos et al. 2002). Human Resource
Management (HRM) is one of the critical tools for improving productivity and competitiveness at the
grass roots level (Poole 1997). This Essays aims to identify and compare the current HRM systems
and practices at different types of enterprises in both China and Taiwan respectively (Zhu and Warner
2000), to evaluate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the reformed employment system, Chinese managers now have greater freedom to hire and fire
(Child, 1994). Even though fully fledged HRM on Western lines seems still far away, many personnel
policies have been substantially changed: workers are employed on fixed term contracts,
apprenticeships have been reformed, and training has been expanded for both workers and managers
in most Joint Ventures and State Owned Enterprises (Warner, 1997).
With the reforms of the employment system, a new terminology of HRM cam to China in the mid
1980s (Warner 1999). Initially, HRM as an academic concept was introduced by joined teaching
arrangements between Chinese and foreign universities, as well as in management practices in foreign
owned enterprises, mainly from Japan, the USA and Europe (Warner 1995). The Chinese translation
of HRM is renli ziyuan guanli hich means labour force resources management . But in fact, some
people now use it misleadingly as a synonym for personnel management (PM) (renshi guanli) and
indeed treat it as such (Warner 1997). This form of older PM practice is still very common in SOEs
and a fair degree of conservatism continues to pervade the administration of personnel on such
enterprises. Certainly, it is still somewhat far from the initial concept of HRM as understood in

The Field Of Legal Theory Is Continually Being Refined
The field of legal theory is continually being refined through further thought, and through the process
of greater collective experience. The majority of modern legal works find their roots in the
Enlightenment period. The modern legal theory has developed into two main schools that deal with
how the law is and does not address what the law should be; those two fields are legal positivism and
legal realism. Of the two primary schools of thought, legal positivism is the more common, and it
defines the law as it is found in the actual practices or institutions of society. Two of the most notable
authors of legal positivism are H.L.A. Hart and Hans Kelsen both were heavily influenced by ideas of
the Enlightenment, however each had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even custom is not law unless it is recognized and enforced by a competent human authority. These
themes were prevalent in Hobbes s Leviathan and influenced the entirety of positivism, most notably
Hume and Kant. The influence of David Hume and Immanuel Kant is clearly evident in the writings
of H.L.A. Hart and Hans Kelsen. The primary ideas of Hume that influenced Hart were that the world
as it is can only be perceived and that facts and values came from different sources. Hume felt that
facts were observable occurrences in the physical world and values were derived from the community.
One of the most important ideas that Hume developed through the premise that the world is only
perceived is that there is no cause and effect as it is only a chain of facts linked by necessity. The most
significant ideas that Kant developed were the concept of synthetic a priori knowledge and that the
human conscience establishes what the mind knows. These two separate ideas go well together being
that Kant is developing the existence of empirical knowledge that is known before any experience,
which goes handily with the conscience determining what the mind knows. The ideas of Hume and
Kant will prove a sound foundation for Kelsen and Hart to build on. The work of H.L.A. Hart was
most influenced by the work of David Hume. Hart defines the law as the voluntary observance of the
commands of the sovereign. Ratnapala

Longitudinal Studies Vs Cross Sectional Studies
You can talk about age related differences, but you cannot show age related changes with a cross
sectional studies. The old cross sectional studies tended to show that age related differences began
early in adulthood and continued to be apparent later. But, we have a more contemporary view and it
is a lot more positive. The notion is that while there are some age differences and decline, it is less
extreme than initially reported. There is a difference between cross sectional studies and longitudinal
studies because: 1. Cohort effects Years of Education Good health Cognitive complexities of life 2.

Essay on Dupont Divestiture
DuPont s Divestiture of Conoco | Analysis of the Merger | |
DuPont began life in 1802, as a gunpowder manufacturer supplying the US Army under President
Thomas Jefferson. The company had a long tradition of technological innovations in business and it
continues to serve worldwide markets including food and nutrition; health care; agriculture; fashion
and apparel; home and construction; and electronics. Among some of its inventions are nylon
stockings invented in 1939, Teflon for pans, Kevlar for bullet proof vests, stainmaster for carpets, the
synthetic fabric lycra, and Dacron for clothing. In 1999 the company held a portfolio of 2000
trademarks and brands. DuPont was the 15th largest company in the US with its 1998 revenue ...

In order to make the second stage completely tax free DuPont had to satisfy a number of IRS rules and
regulations. These rules stated that DuPont had to control Conoco immediately before the split off,
meaning that it had to control at least 80% of Conoco s stock. In addition the split had to be motivated
by a valid business purpose. Also DuPont had to get rid of all Conoco stock so it would not have any
control over the company after the deal was completed. Conoco had to be recapitalized or reorganized
into two classes of common stock. Class A stock that carried one vote each, issued to the public and
Class B stock with five votes each, retained by DuPont for later disbursement to DuPont shareholders
in the exchange offer. Prior to the IPO, Conoco would have to issue a $7.5 billion promissory note to
DuPont as a dividend. The payment would be tax free to both parties because at the time DuPont
owned all of Conoco. Conoco would in turn, use the proceeds to pay back part of the note and other
intercompany notes with DuPont.
While I do agree with the Chief Operating Officer that a 100% IP of Conoco would raise a significant
amount of cash to use in our core business growth internationally, allowing us to expand our global
operations. I think the equity care out

TN16 The Boeing 7E7
THE BOEING 7E7
Teaching Note
Synopsis and Objectives
In 2003, the Boeing Company announced plans to build a new super efficient commercial jet called
the 7E7 or Dreamliner. This was a bet the farm gamble by Boeing, similar in magnitude to its earlier
introductions of the 747 and 777 airliners. The technological superiority of the new airframe, as well
as the fact that it would penetrate a rapidly growing market segment, were arguments for approval of
the project. On the other hand, the current market for commercial airplanes was depressed because of
terrorism risks, war, and SARS, a contagious illness that resulted in global travel warnings. Boeing s
board of directors would need to weigh those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The instructor could easily take a devil s advocate approach toward the prevailing sentiment and invite
defense of the students opinions. In any event, acknowledgment of a range of estimates builds drama
and confirms that there are competing views among students this motivates a detailed discussion of
the financial analysis.
3. How would we know if the 7E7 project will create value?
Students may be familiar with the classic NPV criterion. This case invites them to focus on the
internal rate of return (IRR). If the IRR is greater than the project cost of capital, the 7E7 is a positive
net present value project.1 A discussion of why this is true provides a solid big picture foundation for
the case decision. The project IRRs are presented in case Exhibit 9. Therefore, the focus of student
analysis should be on determining the benchmark against which to evaluate the IRRs. Thus, this part
of the discussion helps to motivate the analysis of WACC. Some students may have voted in a manner
that contradicts the IRR versus the cost of capital decision rule. This sets up the next question.
4. Okay, let s examine the details of how to estimate the WACC. Let s go step by step. Where shall we
get started?
The instructor can ask one student (or team of students) to walk the class through the detailed
calculations. The presenter(s) may make one or more errors or adopt some controversial practice in
making the calculations. This presents a strategic

A Professional Experience Of Working
I personally do not have a professional experience of working in an organization. However, while I
doing pursuing my bachelors degree I was the member for one the college club. When I first join the
club in 2013, the members were very ineffective with their communication. The club objective or
values were very unclear. There was lot of ambiguity within the roles of members. As described in
page 4 of the PMI s Pulse of Profession report, there was a gap in understanding business benefits. In
our case was or the club some of the members did not have proper understanding about the goals, and
what kind of events/activities the club want to in the college As stated in page 4 of the report that
Everyone needs to understand the long term goal so they can know how they re contributing, how they
re making an impact (Project Management Institute, 2013). There was a very poor communication
between the President and the members of the club. President was not effective in delivering his
expectation and strategies, and this later impacted on club events resulting in failure. The gap was very
evident, but no one took the ownership, not even the advisor whose role similar to an executive
sponsor or senior manager. If the gaps were identified then the club would have been successful since
the beginning.
Question 2: Which strategy or strategies would you recommend for your organization to adopt or to
continue? The most important was to recognize the gap, and then to communicate

The Failure Of A Psychodynamic Relationship
The problem with cross sex friendships is the failure to meet and keep up a platonic relationship.
These relationships start out in the levels of friendships from acquaintances to personal or intellectual,
ultimately evolving into intimate and, or emotional. The triangular theory of love is then tested by a
matter of combinations of the three following components intimacy, passion and commitment. After
there is a set combination, evolved feelings show through attraction, one sided feelings, personality
similarities, attachments and the risks. Cross sex friendships can not have a relationship without the
components of the triangular theory of love without resisting the inevitable feelings evolving between
the two.
There are a variety of relationships in which people misinterpret or have a hard time defining.

The principal relationships that are driven by passion are referred to as infatuated, romantic, and

someone that lasts the test of time. (Infatuation vs. Love). This kind of relationship is developed

  • 2. Wilbur Unisex Research Paper In a small, sleepy town in upstate New York, a devastating crime has been committed. Dr. Andreas Poppy was known to be a bit of a lazy doctor when making house calls. He would leave a pill and a bill and leave the rest up to fate. This earned him a few enemies along the way, but no one thought that he would ever be kidnapped and used for his access to prescription drugs. When Wilbur Unisex came upon the scene he was able to deduce that four men had been waiting to kidnap Dr. Poppy, take him, his drugs, and his prescription pad, and make a break for the Canadian border. The evidence in the room that Wilbur Unisex came upon points to four men as the culprits. First, the shelves along the wall held items that would indicate four people had been using the cabin. There were four sets of dishes and cups stacked on the shelves and there were large containers of food, which would indicate that more than one person was using the cabin. Another piece of evidence that suggest that four people were present was the arrangement of the room itself. There is evidence that there were three men playing cards at the table. There were three hands set up around the table. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can conclude that the men were from Canada from the coins they were using to gamble with. They left behind several Canadian coins on the table, which is a clear indication that they men were not from upstate New York. Another clue was left behind to tell police where they were planning on taking Dr. Poppy. A small map with an X marking a spot in Canada was lying carelessly on the floor by the door. There is also evidence that Dr. Poppy was taken, and not killed. Next to the map is what appears to be tape and rope. This would suggest that the men bound the doctor and took him with them on their trip back up to Canada. In Canada, the men hope to use Dr. Poppy to secure more prescription ... • 3. Siddhartha Enlightenment Journey Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse is a about a young man who wanted to find spiritual enlightenment. He wants to find this spiritual enlightenment because he isn t pleased with his current lifestyle. His family s original religion was Brahmin, but now he wants to switch to a Semana. He attempted to find enlightenment using different spiritual pathways, but he ends up finding enlightenment among a river. Herman Hesse uses different literature lenses to describe how Siddhartha s spiritual enlightenment journey went. Before Siddhartha leaves to find spiritual enlightenment he wants to get his father s approval first. His father feels angry about the decision that he is about to make and says he will end up dying in the wilderness. Siddhartha s father says, And would you rather die, than obey your father? This signifies that Siddhartha s his feels angry about him wanting to become a Semana. And sociologically it shows how much culture meant to the people living during this era. ... What is fasting? What is holding one s breath? It is fleeing from the self, it is a short escape of the agony of being a self, it is a short numbing of the senses against the pain and the pointlessness of life. This explains that Siddhartha begins to see that what the Semana s practiced was pointless and he needed to find another way to spiritual enlightenment. Historically this helps us learn more about what the Semana s did to help them reach their spiritual enlightenment and how it wasn t the right religion choice for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Big Bang Theory Or A Big Fabrication Adair Day AP English IV Mrs. Britt Collins 14 March 2016 Big Bang Theory or a Big Fabrication The concept of creation has boggled human s minds for centuries. Human nature has an intuitive sense of longing for an answer to solve the unknown, and creation embodies the concept of unknown. In an effort to compile reason and scientific knowledge, an explanation of the formation of the universe was formed and is widely known as The Big Bang Theory. The Big Bang Theory is considered, ...the leading scientific explanation for the formation of the universe (Howell). The Big Bang Theory articulates that before this event there was nothing; and after it there was something. This suggestion to how the universe was created was originally born from the sighting that the surrounding galaxies are moving away from our own at an immense speed as if they had been propelled by some force (Howell). The standard theory states that the entire universe originated as a condensed, infinitely pressured, singularity, which defies the laws of today s understanding of physics. It is a misconception this event occurred as an explosion; rather it resembled more of an expansion. At one moment there was nothing in existence and in the following, the universe expanded as a balloon would, from a sub atomic particle, to all that it is today. This notion of how the universe was created, is nothing more than a shot into the dark, literally, and holds no validity. At this exact moment there are roughly 100,000 ... • 10. Jazz Concert Report Sample On March 30th, 2017 I attended a well performed jazz concert at Prince George s Community College. The concert was performed by a group called The Reginald Cyntje Group. The Reginald Cyntje Group was made up of Brian Settles, Herman Burney, Lenny Robinson, Hope Udobi, and Reginald Cyntje. The group performed seven songs including: The Rise of the Protester, Ballad for the Masses, Chant of the Revolt, Descension and Ascension, No Justice No Peace, The Piece of Resistance, and Blues People vs the Deplorables. While I enjoyed all of the songs my favorite was the Dance of the Crooked Heads, which will be the topic of my report. The Dance of the Crooked Heads was performed by Settles playing a tenor saxophone, Burney playing a bass, Robinson playing drums, Udobi playing the piano, and Cyntje playing the trombone. There was not anyone singing or doing vocals. The genre of the song was jazz and the musical style of the composition was instrumental. I believe it is instrumental because it did not contain a voice accompaniment, only instrumental. As stated before the genre is jazz, which can be said has smooth and unrestricted sounds and I think this describes The Dance of the Crooked Heads perfectly. The song also has an element of jazz which is syncopation. Syncopation is when there is a variety of the rhythms of the song and they made a part or all of the song off beat. ... Barton and Butts (2008) asserts that Children who are nurtured under tender care and attention tend to grow into law abiding citizens. The ability of children to realize their full potential is determined by these factors. Conversely, wrong company, negligence, lack of basic needs, harmful surroundings and other abuses may negatively affect a child and turn him or her into a delinquent. The term juvenile who originates from the word juvenis means young. A child or a Juvenile is considered a minor under the law. This is a person who is below eighteen years of age. Take The Wicker Man Analysis Sometimes it s hard to define a particular horror movie s genre, but in an attempt to sort through the confusion, I m going to provide an explanation of both the basic genres in horror, of which there are about 4 with closely related branches in their family tree. Often horror movies tend to fuse different film genre elements together to create a horrific masterpiece, or just something awful to watch that ends in disaster. I m not talking about the movie plot itself, but those failed attempts at crafting masterful cinema. Take the Wicker Man, for instance. This film includes elements of psychological horror, fantasy, macabre, thriller, and even exploitation horror. Basic Horror Genres Creature Features Creature features include, ... • 15. Plastics And The Plastic Age The current period in human history is referred to as the plastic age (Cózar et al 2014). Plastic is synthetic polymers derived from petroleum (Vikas Dwarakish 2015), it is lightweight, inexpensive to produce and hailed as an industrial achievement (Detloff Istel 2016). Moreover, plastic does not decompose, the durable material simply breaks into smaller particles, pervading the water and marine life (Detloff Istel 2016). Our current society has established a constant consume and discard rhythm, fuelling the plastic economy . Marine plastic pollution mainly occurs from land based plastic debris, comprised of: littering, incessant plastic bag use and inappropriate disposal (Derriak 2002). Microplastics are pieces of plastic less than five millimetres in size (Detloff Istel 2016). These particles account for 92% of the plastics in the ocean (Shim Thomposon 2015). Microplastics have become ubiquitous in the ocean, found as far as the Arctic and Antarctic seas (Obbard et al 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015; Law Thompson 2014 as cited in Shim Thomposon 2015). Plastic pollution is also significantly damaging the fragile marine ecosystem, as well as massacring innocent marine creatures (Deltoff Istell 2016; Avio, Gorbi Regoli 2017). Overall, preventing ocean plastic pollution is difficult, due to the large volume of production and contamination, particularly microplastics, coupled with inadequate disposal practices of plastic. In 2014, 311 million tonnes of plastic were produced (Detloff Istel 2016), and half was disposed of within the year (Singh Sharma 2016). The most commonly used and plentiful polymers are: high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate (Andray Neal 2009 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). These polymers account for 90% of total plastic production, and as a result are the most common plastics found in aquatic environments (Andray 2011 and Engel 2012 as cited in Li, Tse and Fok 2016). Plastic debris often migrates to form five subtropical gyres, large garbage patches colloquially dubbed marine soup (Eriksen et al 2013; Weinstein 2009). Writing, for her is an effort to discover, and then to underline, and finally to convey the true significance of things . Her novels according to her, deal with the terror of facing, single handed, the ferocious assaults of existence. Anita Desai s protagonists are mostly women who, though they have reached different stages in life from school girl to grandmother are all fragile introvert trapped in their own skins. Their emotional trauma sometimes leads to violent death, in the end. As an artist Kamala Markandaya s fiction is concerned with change in feminine sensibility brought about by the social, economic and cultural forces, whereas Anita Desai s major concern is about exploration of the psychological condition of the oppressed hyper sensitive women. The synoptic views of Anita Desai and Kamala Markandaya s portray the women protagonists in terms of the shifting sensibilities and changing attitudes of married Indian women. It also tries to analyze the portrayal of women characters that belong to rural and urban upper classes of Indian society. As an artist Kamala Markandaya s fiction is concerned with ... I strongly disagree and believe that if someone cannot consider their house a home, it has a lot to do with the attitudes of those living in it. I also believe that a house is the place where most teenagers remain until, at least, the age of eighteen because of not being able to afford their own house. On the other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Many of them tend to feel this way because as they grow older they begin to only think of themselves and become very self centered or selfish. These feelings of selfishness usually do not change until teenagers begin progressing into adulthood. If a teenager sees how their selfishness negatively affects their family and they begin to change their ways, while still in their teenage years, this change is usually the cause of a bad event that left them lonely and in the dark. This event could have been something along the lines of tough love from family members which caused this person to look back on events they regretted from the past and helped them to look forward to changing these actions for a better future. Many of my friends complain about not being happy at home and how much they just cannot wait to move out of the house. • 18. False Memory Syndrome Psychologists have diligently studied the human mind for many years and have yet to discover some of the ways that the brain performs simple and complex tasks. Since the knowledge that has been obtained concerning processes of the brain remains a mere fraction compared to what is unknown about cognitive functioning, individuals cannot fully grasp the reasoning behind why the brain performs some of the acts it does. Many people daydream, picture themselves recovering lost items in obscure places, or even create stories repeated so much that individuals begin to believe they may have happened; all three of these examples are forms of creating a false memory. Many psychologists have researched, evaluated, and experimented with false memory, which has lead to the discovery of False Memory Syndrome, a condition in which individuals contract false memories while almost always remaining oblivious to the act of creating a memory that is not factual or concrete (Berger 1). False memory syndrome develops as a result of many different internal and external forces such as mind manipulation in psychological malpractice, severe trauma to the brain in the first few years of life, a traumatic experience, or even by forcing one s self into believing an entirely made up thought; however, seemingly healthy individuals can contract the syndrome without the slightest idea it is present. Bunny Research Paper A multitude parents throughout America get their little tots a bunny fro a practice pet so they can learn how to take care of animals, and think it will be a nice little cuddly friend for them to have for a couple years. Wrong! Bunny rabbits are prey animals, so being picked up or cuddled is almost always going to terrify them, (but this doesn t mean that they re not affectionate); and a healthy bunny should live from 8 12 years, not 2 years! But, don t let this scare you; more often cats and dogs are chosen as a pet, but cats and dogs are not the best for everyone, maybe you don t have time to walk them every 4 hours, or need a small pet for a smaller home, but don t want your stuff getting clawed at; bunnies would be perfect for all these ... Canadian Commitment In Canadian Peacekeeping Canadians pride themselves on being a peacekeeping country and many believe that peacekeeping represents a defining aspect of Canadian identity because it reflects fundamental values, beliefs and interests. Canada has been a leader in peace operations since its development that spearheaded by a Canadian. In fact, Canada s role as peacekeeper remains the main focus of the Canadian military after its invention around 60 years ago, originally started by a Canadian. Their efforts have gained an international reputation for Canada as a significant contributor to international peace and stability. While Canada has an exemplary history in UN peacekeeping, the current extent of its contribution, both in terms of peacekeeping personnel and percentage of funds to peacekeeping missions, are on a clear decline. The belief that Canada is a peacekeeping country is misguided because recent Canadian commitment shows a sharp decline in Canadian participation in UN peacekeeping. Surprisingly, as of March 2007, Canada ranked 59th out of 114 countries in terms of military and police contributions to UN operations. Despite Canadian declined involvement in peacekeeping during the last decade, it still remains a valuable and important mission that greatly deserves Canadian resources including monetary support, resources and personnel. From the videos on blackboard, when someone decides to prove something or someone, then that means there is certainty and assurance that thing is absolutely true. I think that the reason that McCloskey is saying this is because he is arguing the God of the bible and not the minimalistic ideal of God. Everyone is entitled to believe what he or she wants to believe, he saying that the cosmological argument, does not entitle us to an all powerful and all perfect God but that still does not disvalue the rational of there being a God in the first place and I believe that makes his statement meaningless in disproving the necessity and presence of God. When it comes to the teleological argument, McCloskey also claims that the teleological argument lacks premises due to similar reasons as the cosmological argument. In short both arguments do not prove God as a designer. In his mind, this argument is faulty because it does not show enough evidence for the existence of God. What he means when he argues for a genuine indisputable example of design of the universe is that he desired to see obvious proof for the existence of God. Sugar also plays a huge part in reactions occurring, since it assists in important chemical reactions that take place whist cooking and/or baking. Sugar has the ability to act as a solute in many solutions, for example they have the ability to dissolve in water, therefore they are soluble. This is because when sugar is placed in water, the sucrose molecule start breaking from the sugar crystal, and begin to immediately get surrounded by water molecules, and eventually bond with the water molecules. The fact that the negative and positive areas on the sucrose molecules attract the polar water molecules, is also why sugar dissolves in water. Natural selection is an integral factor in the evolutionary theory, but it maintains a supplementary role in the associative learning theory in which the individual environment and sensory input throughout a lifespan is indispensable in understanding of the development of mirror neurons (Cook et al., 2014). There is evidence from Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation studies that suggests a plastic human mirror neuron system (Mehta et al., 2015). Community Immersion Analysis On Community Introduction The definition of Community, Netting, Kettner, McMurty and Thomas (2012) stated by Warren (1978) Community is the combination of social units and systems that perform the major social functions relevant to meeting people s needs on a local level. (p.133). Understanding communities is important to social workers as they have, Netting et al (2012) to know individuals functions within larger systems, understanding of its history and that communities constantly change (p. 168). If you are familiar with this quote then you know that it was said by Macbeth in Act Five, Scene Five of Shakespeare s famous play Macbeth. Macbeth shares these thoughts with the audience after his wife, Lady Macbeth, commits suicide overcome with the guilt of killing King Duncan. Ever since the death of Duncan, Lady Macbeth had been having trouble sleeping and getting over the guilt of planning and helping with the murder of the old great King of Scotland. To a certain extent I can relate to this thought because most of us will live life and not do anything majorly important, but even the smallest things make a difference. For the main reason that even the smallest things in life make a difference it s easy to see that everyone makes a difference and that life is not just a waste of time. For example if you were to walk down the street and help someone carry their groceries to their car or into their house it might inspire them to help someone else. The theory is that if you do something to help someone they might feel more likely to help someone who would do the same and in the end more people would be helping each other. This seemingly small act would argue that no one s life is a waste. Macbeth on the other hand is arguing that everyone s life is waste because no one truly does anything important with their lives; more specifically Macbeth views his life and the life of his wife as wasteful because all they did was murder a perfectly good king in self interest. We see this quote in act five, scene five, lines 24 28; Life s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. Not only does Macbeth say that life is wasteful, he says that it represents nothing. By this he means that everyone is living for nothing and is wasteful at the same time, no one is important. • 38. Tempest in a Bottle Essay Tempest in a Bottle Old enough to fight, Old enough to drink. We all know that famous saying. Do you agree with this quote? I don t agree with it. Teenage and underage college students drinking have been a longstanding problem in the American culture. They look at drinking as something glamorous, and I am here to say that I feel the drinking age should be higher. Just because at the age of eighteen you are a legal adult and can do adult things like vote, smoke, marry, drive, fly, pay taxes, take out loans, hold public office, serve on a jury, and fight for their country doesn t mean you should have a drink. My first reason on why the drinking age should be higher is because of maturity level there is a difference between an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since they are not able to drink at events where others might be able to drink. This makes them want to be a rebel and try out what it is they are being kept away from. So they will give it a shot. The fact that they don t know when they will be able to drink again is the reason why most underage teens and college student tend to get overly drunk when they get a chance. As a result there are problems as serious as deaths. My last reason is that may save a life. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, increasing the minimum drinking age to 25 or leaving it at 21 is credited with having saved 18,200 lives on the national s highway. The National Highway Traffic Safety estimates that a legal drinking age of 21 saves 700 to 1,000 lives annually. Since 1976, these laws have prevented more than 21,000 traffic death. But I feel if the drinking age was raised to 25 it would help prevent early teen alcoholism. If not adolescents who begin drinking in life early run the risk of developing serious alcohol problems. They are also at risk for a variety of adverse consequences, including risky sexual activity and poor performance in school. In conclusion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jennifer Clark (2012 ) indicates that teenage drivers were banned from any cell phone use while driving in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. Specific ages vary by state. Michigan bans cell phones for teens with probationary licenses in cases where the cell phone has resulted in an accident or traffic violation. The use of mobile phones in cars is one of several sources of driver distraction which contribute to road crashes and injuries to those both inside and outside the vehicle. According to research reported by Tom and Ray Magliozzi (n.d), Drivers are four times as likely to crash when talking on a phone 地nd three times as likely when talking on a hands free phone. I was taught to always have faith, even when the situation seemed terrible. Never did I understand what it was like to actually lean on faith in a situation until it was the only option I had. In the fall of seventh grade I began to act different. I would come home every day after school and sleep for hours until my mom made me get up. I was always getting sick, and weird unexplainable bruises would show up on my body. My mom decided that something else was wrong other than the common sickness kids get. So she made an appointment for me to see my pediatrician. The nurses drew blood and I sat in anticipation hoping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Analysis Of The Globe And Mail Written By Antonia Maioni It should come as no surprise that Quebec s history is distinct and as a result, has transformed the province into a distinct region within Canada. Canada s fête without Quebec, an article in The Globe and Mail written by Antonia Maioni, illustrates the division between Quebec and the rest of Canada especially on Canada Day. Maioni discusses the importance of July 1st for Quebeckers as the fête de déménagement, when rental leases often change hands in the province, and not the celebration of Canada. She notes that for francophone Quebeckers, Canada Day is nothing short of the ordinary since their lives do not revolve around being patriotic flag wavers (Maioni). This deep seated resentment remains over Confederation and what is seen as a less then perfect deal stuck in order to unite what Canadians know today to be Canada. With 2014 being historically significant in marking the 150th anniversary of both the Charlottetown and Quebec conferences, the gathering in Quebec has been largely omitted. Maioni argues that it is the Quebec conference that should merit some reflection since that is where the constitutional framework was established. Unlike in Charlottetown, which become a commemorative cottage industry as a result of central Canadians intervening on what was once supposed to be a Maritime union (Maioni). This paper will discuss how Quebec s relationship to Canada is framed in the media and how it affects regional experience as a result. Much like Canada, Quebec often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Under the reformed employment system, Chinese managers now have greater freedom to hire and fire (Child, 1994). Even though fully fledged HRM on Western lines seems still far away, many personnel policies have been substantially changed: workers are employed on fixed term contracts, apprenticeships have been reformed, and training has been expanded for both workers and managers in most Joint Ventures and State Owned Enterprises (Warner, 1997). With the reforms of the employment system, a new terminology of HRM cam to China in the mid 1980s (Warner 1999). Initially, HRM as an academic concept was introduced by joined teaching arrangements between Chinese and foreign universities, as well as in management practices in foreign owned enterprises, mainly from Japan, the USA and Europe (Warner 1995). The Chinese translation of HRM is renli ziyuan guanli hich means labour force resources management . But in fact, some people now use it misleadingly as a synonym for personnel management (PM) (renshi guanli) and indeed treat it as such (Warner 1997). This form of older PM practice is still very common in SOEs and a fair degree of conservatism continues to pervade the administration of personnel on such enterprises. The Field Of Legal Theory Is Continually Being Refined The field of legal theory is continually being refined through further thought, and through the process of greater collective experience. The majority of modern legal works find their roots in the Enlightenment period. The modern legal theory has developed into two main schools that deal with how the law is and does not address what the law should be; those two fields are legal positivism and legal realism. Of the two primary schools of thought, legal positivism is the more common, and it defines the law as it is found in the actual practices or institutions of society. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even custom is not law unless it is recognized and enforced by a competent human authority. These themes were prevalent in Hobbes s Leviathan and influenced the entirety of positivism, most notably Hume and Kant. The influence of David Hume and Immanuel Kant is clearly evident in the writings of H.L.A. Hart and Hans Kelsen. The primary ideas of Hume that influenced Hart were that the world as it is can only be perceived and that facts and values came from different sources. Hume felt that facts were observable occurrences in the physical world and values were derived from the community. One of the most important ideas that Hume developed through the premise that the world is only perceived is that there is no cause and effect as it is only a chain of facts linked by necessity. The most significant ideas that Kant developed were the concept of synthetic a priori knowledge and that the human conscience establishes what the mind knows. These two separate ideas go well together being that Kant is developing the existence of empirical knowledge that is known before any experience, which goes handily with the conscience determining what the mind knows. The ideas of Hume and Kant will prove a sound foundation for Kelsen and Hart to build on. The work of H.L.A. Hart was most influenced by the work of David Hume. Hart defines the law as the voluntary observance of the commands of the sovereign. Ratnapala ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How would we know if the 7E7 project will create value? Students may be familiar with the classic NPV criterion. This case invites them to focus on the internal rate of return (IRR). If the IRR is greater than the project cost of capital, the 7E7 is a positive net present value project.1 A discussion of why this is true provides a solid big picture foundation for the case decision. The project IRRs are presented in case Exhibit 9. Therefore, the focus of student analysis should be on determining the benchmark against which to evaluate the IRRs.
