David Halberstam s Report
As an author of 21 books about topics such as war, politics, history and sports as well as receiving a
Pulitzer Prize, David Halberstam was a successful journalist and author. Halberstam s interest of
journalism started when he was writing for his school newspaper at Roosevelt High in Yonkers, New
York. When he was attending Harvard, he worked as the managing editor at the student run
newspaper, The Harvard Crimson. When he graduated from college with a degree in journalism, he
moved to West Point, Mississippi where he was a reporter for The Daily Times Leader. However, his

America about how the war was going on what was happening on the battlefield, whether the news
was good or bad. When he returned to the United States in 1964, he had received the Pulitzer Prize for
International Reporting for his coverage of the war. In the mid 1960 s, Halberstam went to Poland to
report about the Civil Rights Movement in Warsaw, where he ended up marrying an actress, Elżbieta
Czyżewska. But Halberstam s criticism of Poland s dictatorship at the time resulted in expulsion from
the country. After he and his wife went back to New York, he left The New York Times to focus on
writing books and magazine articles. The first book he had published was The Best and the Brightest

problems, options available and the different scenarios dealt with. Various factors have been taken into
consideration for an attempt to take a wiser decision.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Sands Corporation was established in 1941 with an aim to manufacture range of parts for the aircrafts,
automotive and agriculture equipment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two locations were found to be appropriate for the plant, first is on Kimberly Street just a few blocks
away from the main plant. Second being located in Hampton, which is small town around 180miles
from the main plant. The Executives of the company decided that they will eventually require
minimum of 75000 Square feet of floor space and 600 labors (300 Skilled, 150 Semi Skilled, 150
Unskilled) so as to operate efficiently. The estimated cost of the machinery and equipment needed to
manufacture the parts is around $2 Million and this requirement was met by the government by
equipping them with government owned equipment under a contract.
The two options have their own pros and con which as stated as follows 1) KIMBERLY STREET:
Two acres of land costing $50,000.  Situated near to the main plant.  Surplus labor available. 
Resale value of the land is high.  Rate of Electricity, gas and water is cheap.  Union of labors.
2) HAMPTON: Ten acres of land costing $20,000.  Situated 180 miles away from the main plant.
 Scarcity of labor  Cheaper wages  Rate of Electricity, gas and water is comparatively higher
than Kimberly Street.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The company has to decide between the two locations based on their virtues, availability and higher
margin of profit.
OPTIONS AVAILABLE
There are two options for the establishment of the manufacturing plant. 1) Kimberly Street 2)

Comparing The Parthenon And The Pantheon
3
The Parthenon and the Pantheon
The Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome are two of the most influential buidlings of
modern and ancient architecture, and are often confused. It s easy to see why a person would get the
two confused, there are some amazing similarities. However, once you have explored each structure in
a bit more depth, you wonder how you could have confused them in the first place.
The Parthenon was constructed during the Arthenian empire beginning in 447 B.C. and completed in
432 B.C. (Silverman, 2015) Using elements from both the Doric and Ionic orders, it optimizes Greek
architecture with a sculpted frieze (band of sculptures near the roof) depicting Greek Gods and
Goddesses, making this a distinctly Greek building. The other elements that make this building very
Greek are the columns and the multiple statues of gods and goddesses. The Parthenon was built as a
temple to the goddess Athena; the sculptor Phedias was responsible for the massive statue placed in
the temple. (Parthenon, 2017) Although it s initial intention was for religious purposes, the building
also served as a treasury for a time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word Pantheon comes from a Greek word Pantheion, meaning of, relating to, or common to all
the gods . (Pantheon Rome, 2017) Even though the origins appear to be very similar, even borrowing
its name from the Greeks, the Pantheon is distinctly Roman. Looking at the entrance you would
immediately get the impression of Greek architecture with its massive columns and portico entrance.
However, once inside, the building takes on a completely different feel. The Romans were masters of
the dome structure, and the Pantheon has the world s largest that is not reinforced with steel in
anyway. (Pantheon Rome,

Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine
Traditional Medicine Versus Western Medicine
From an Indigenous person of Canada s perspective, there is more to healing someone from an illness
than focusing only on the body. They believe that there must also be a focus on the individual s
spirituality (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 240). A doctor, who practices modern western medicine, places
their focus on the physical body and follow a specific scientific process that depends on the illness
being cured (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 241). These different approaches to medicine are based on the
philosophies and beliefs that a person has, and can often raise debate in certain medical situations. The
death of Makayla Sault raised a conflict between traditional medical practices, and western medical
practices.
Western Philosophy on Medicine
When Makayla was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia the doctors at the McMaster
Children s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario gave her a seventy five per cent chance of survival. The
doctors in the hospital have the philosophical bias that the technology of advanced western medical
treatments are the most reliable form of treatment. Makayla began chemotherapy, and went through
eleven weeks of this treatment before stopping it. According to an Oncologist at McMaster, There are
no known cases of survival of this type of leukemia without a full course of treatment (Walker, C.,
2015, Makayla exercised her rights , para.1). Makayla s mother believed that the chemotherapy was

Speech On Public Shaming
The immediacy and fast pace of the internet can be magical, but it can also become a nightmare that
ruins a person s life (Source C). The world believes that public humiliation is an effective punishment,
but it is overused and ineffective. Public shaming is a dire term due to its high usage. Public shaming
dates back to the 1500s. The Puritan society gave their people this type of punishment, as seen in
Source A, The Scarlet Letter. They hoped that the sinner would show God their mercy. Now, in the
21st century, public shaming is still taking full effect because of social media, such as Instagram and
Facebook. The victims that could not escape public shame are Monica Lewinsky, Justine Sacco, and
Hester Prynne. If kids like Tyler Clementi get shamed to death then public shaming is getting dire
because the consequences impact a person socially, professionally, and personally.
First, public shame affects people socially. Source A claims that: What do we talk of marks and
brands, whether on the bodice of her gown, or the flesh of her forehead? (Source A 36). This quote
was said at the beginning of The Scarlet Letter by one of the women outside the prison when Hester
was released from prison. The quote shows that the townspeople have branded Hester for committing
the sin of adultery and are shoving her away from society. This isolation from society is also shown in
a quote from Is the Internet a Mob without Consequences? (by Nick Bilton). Source B notes that:

Causes Of Food Insecurity In South Sudan
About South Sudan
South Sudan, officially called the Republic of South Sudan, is a county located in the north eastern
Africa.
About food crisis
Food is a human s right and it is necessary for human, and actually every living thing on this planet, to
survive. So for us human, food must be available, affordable and prepared.
South Sudan faces unprecedented levels of food insecurity, as nearly 4.9 million people about 40
percent of the country s population remain in urgent need of food assistance. According to the United
Nations office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs, the total number of people affected by
severe food insecurity in South Sudan between January and March 2016 got up to 2.8 million.
The Causes of the food crisis
Food shortages, a deepening economic crisis, insecurity and insufficient agricultural production at
household level have caused increased levels of food insecurity and alarming levels of acute
malnutrition.
There are two kinds of causes one is natural disaster the other cause is man made.
The natural disaster in the South Sudan is about the rainfall that is lacking and uneven. The average
annual rainfall in South Sudan is 254 millilitre per year. But the uneven rain falling on the country
made some areas of the country so arid that no one can grow any food there. For example, the rainfall
occurred mainly from mid June to September. So farmers will not be able to grow much in other times
of the year.
The man mad reason that caused the

The Phases And Development Of The Early Modern English Period
The Early Modern English phase (1500 1800) was followed after the Middle English Era. The Modern
English phase is sub divided into the early and late phases. The Late Mordern English phase is
followed by the Modern English phase. By the end of the Middle English Era, the great vowel shift
had begun. Events that took place during this era helped in shaping the English language the way it is
today. British was in contact with many other countries. This lead to the development of new words
and phrases and hence a greater addition in vocabulary. Development of new words created a need for
a dictionary. The first English dictionary was published in 1604. During this period English language

The Police Chief Placed A Picture Of The Serial Black Widow
The police chief placed a picture of the serial black widow murderer in front of me and my throat

always the last person you would ever expect? Well, there was no way in hell did I see this one
coming. Of all the times to think about Tessa and how sad she had looked to tell me her parents had
received a job offer and she would have to move away. If it wasn t for her kissing me that day, I doubt
I would ve had the nerve to make the first move. Now that I thought about it, this was actually the
perfect time to remember that and one other little thing about my pass. However, she wasn t in the
category of things I wish I could forget. I was not what you would call a very popular kid. You could
say I was at the very far end of the popularity hierarchy. Actually, I was at the bottom. My mother had
seen one too many shows about how to raise a star. Soon there were piano lessons, singing lessons,
and worse of all ballet lessons. Oh, but my father did as best he could and I started taking classes in
magic. I doubt there is no greater embarrassment than participating in the school s annual talent show
and your mother is your sexy assistant that is supposed to divert the audience s attention. I had to

Keats And Finch And The Nightingale
In literature, it is generally agreed that The Nightingale invites the beholder to explore something
beyond the merely human . Both Keats and Finch imitate this concept in Ode to a Nightingale and To
the Nightingale by using poetic form and language to show the qualities of a bird that inspires them to
look beyond the physical and in Finch s case, challenge the confines of human restriction whilst
asserting poetry as a human necessity.
Keats was a key figure in the Romantic era in the first part of the 17th century which, according to
René Wellek s classic definition, sought to substitute imagination for the view of poetry, nature for the
view of the world, and symbol and myth for poetic style. Therefore, Keats Ode to a Nightingale ,
written in 1819, has an affiliation with the natural world, through both the metaphors he uses and his
meter and rhyme. The fact that the poem is an Ode to a nightingale shows that Keats is addressing the
bird in particular and therefore it asserts the link that is found in Romanticism between humans and
the natural world. M. H. Abrams states that Keats wrote this poem, whilst reminiscent of a Horation
Ode, as what came to be known as a Romantic Meditative Ode which is the personal ode of
description and passionate meditation . It is clear here that what Keats is passionate about in this poem
is the country green . Keats coined the term negative capability to describe passionate mediation in a
letter to

Horatio Alger Myth Research Paper
The Horatio Alger myth is one of the oldest myths in the history of the United States of America.
Horatio Alger was a 19th century author who wrote short stories that all had the same universal theme:
a young man rising from a poor childhood to become a successful adult. Alger s stories were
enormously popular during his time and continue to be so today with the term Alger Myth become a
household saying. The popularity of Alger s stories is not surprising when one considers America has
consistently pushed the notion that anyone can achieve success if they work hard. Every child in
America is told at some point in their life that they can be anything they want to be. This myth is as
much a part of American culture as apple pie or baseball. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[Logical transition needed here such as Yet, ] The poverty level in America is absurdly high and
produces a large group of children who grow up in an environment where everybody is struggling to
get by on a day to day basis. These children have no actual tangible evidence that somebody from
their neighborhood can achieve the type of success they dream of. The only hope they have comes
from the Alger Myth or other such fables that describe rags to riches stories. The Alger Myth is thus a
useful tool for the American upper class, in the sense that it gives the lower class a hope for their
future and in the process helps to prevent any attempt by the lower class to overthrow the current
economic system, which produces this huge disparity between the rich and poor. [Good. This
effectively politicizes and enlarges the issue.] This would almost be an acceptable practice if the Alger
Myth was true and everyone did have a chance to succeed regardless of race, sex, or affluence.
[Again, emphasize the contrast with a transition: But, ] The Alger Myth , like many popular American
myths, is in fact a fallacy as the facts simply show there is no evidence to support an equal playing
field for every

Carl Sandburg Research Paper
Carl Sandburg; a 20th century American Poet, once defined poetry as ...the opening and closing of a
door, leaving those who look through to guess about what is seen during that moment. Sandburg
attempts to suggest that an experience can be expressed by a poet via the way language is used. Many
writers are influenced heavily by the political, social, and environmental situations that they ve
experienced, which may need to be known to the reader to fully understand what the writer is trying to
communicate through their works.
Langston Hughes was initially recognised as an important literary figure in the 1920s, a period
commonly referred to as the Harlem Renaissance which was based in Harlem, New York City. During
this period there was an exceptional amount of black writers that were emerging such as Countee
Cullen, Claude McKay and Langston Hughes. This literary period is best known for its use of blues
and folklore in many famous pieces and the African American writers that emerged during this time.
Hughes was very active in social and political causes, He often used his poems as a medium for
cultural protest. He wrote over 50 books and his play Mulatto; a term originally used to refer to

The Stephen Glass Film
Before watching the movie, I knew about the Stephen Glass case but I did not know detailed events
that led up to his Glass s case being exposed. In my opinion, the movie did a great job as far as
casting. The actors in the movie understood their roles and played it well although there were some
moments that could have been done differently. In my opinion, there were some parts in the film that
could have been dramatize and much more intense because the situation and seriousness of what was
occurring called for it.
To begin, the casting of the film was well thought out. The characters played their parts well
especially the main characters Stephen Glass played by Hayden Christensen, Chuck Lane played by
Peter Sarsgaard, and Caitlin Avey played by Chloe Sevigny. Christensen embodied Glass s persona so
well that it almost seemed like he was actually Glass. He was charming towards his coworkers and
persuasive as well. These characteristic of Glass was essential and needed to be seen ... Show more

The main problem I had with the film was the lack of intensity and seriousness when addressing Glass
about his false stories. For example, there was a scene where chuck took Glass to a building he made
up in one of his stories. In the moment Chuck asks Glass several times to confirm if the building was
real and Glass confirms that the building was just his imagination and creativity. In this particular
scene, I felt like Chuck should have been livid. Nevertheless, chuck did seem angry but not to the
extreme. Another scene that could have been exaggerated a bit more was when Chuck started to take
down all of the stories Glass wrote. At this point in the film, Chuck began to realize the abundance of
lies that was printed and published. If I was the head editor reading the lies published in my papers, I
would have been furious but Lane was calm and poised for the most part. He basically took down each

Gustave Flaubert Writing Style
The 1800 s was a century of change. Medicine was advancing, the effects of the Enlightenment were
still underway, and a new age of exploration occurred as those of Europe began to extend their hands
across the world towards America. During these times the common folk changed and adapted many of
their ideals, and suffered many hardships and heartaches. In this period, a man of Normandy named
Gustave Flaubert caught many of these hardships within his writings. With words, thoughts, and
crafted phrases, he showed what the common people of this period went through day by day. As an
article put out by TV Tropes explains, Flaubert was famous for his precise, straightforward writing
style, filled with the ideal of realism:

Felicite, as explained at the very beginning of the story, was known for her cleanliness, making people
all around them envy Madame Aubaine for her choice of servant. Though Madame Aubaine s story is
interesting in itself, the story of Felicite is not only one of importance to the story but also to our
understanding of these times in general. Her father and mother were both killed when she was very
young, and when her siblings split up without her she was left alone to find work. Most places where
she found it were hostile to a young woman of eighteen, leaving her vulnerable to physical and verbal
abuse. She even experienced this through a brief relationship, and though she did end up loving him
he eventually revealed he was only looking for someone to marry to avoid the draft. Walking away in
defeat, she found Madame Aubaine and signed on to work for her fifty years. It s here that she begins
the biggest of her struggles. Under Madame Aubaine she suffered four hardships that were common in
Felicite s days. Her first hardship was the loss of her nephew on his journey to America. As explained
in the story, when Felicite s nephew left for the new world she constantly paced back and forth hoping
a letter from him would arrive soon. The constant anxiety of never knowing whether or not he was
alright was something that those who knew New World travelers experienced often. Even more people

Understudies In The Vietnam War Essay
In 1965, John Tinker, his sister Mary Beth, and a partner were sent home from school for wearing dull
armbands to challenge the Vietnam War. The school had set up a methodology permitting understudies
to wear a couple of political pictures, however had disallowed the wearing of armbands disagreeing
the Vietnam War. Their fathers sued, yet the District Court chose that the school had not dismissed the
Constitution. The Court of Appeals agreed with the lower court, and the Tinkers addressed the
Supreme Court. In a 7 2 decision, the Supreme Court chose that the understudies had the benefit to
wear armbands to class to challenge the Vietnam War. Value Abe Fortas created for the lion s offer. He

to the headings of school powers, and battled that allowing this behavior would adversely influence

parental partition on understudies at the school. In both Fraser and Kuhlmeier, the Court

The Ponzi Scheme and Mental Illness Essay
The Ponzi Scheme and Mental Illness
December 26 1919 Charles Ponzi borrowed $200 to buy some office furniture. By January 1920 he
then began telling the people of Boston how he could buy stamps and sell them overseas and give
them a 50% return on their investment in 45 days and 100% return in just 90 days. The people came
so fast he was able to pay returns of 100% in just 45 days. The word spread quickly and more
investors came. Soon Charles had two offices and hired people to take orders for stamps. Shortly
thereafter Charles was taking in as much as $1 million a week.
Charles was quoted as saying. A huge line of investors, four abreast, stretched from the City Hall
Annex . . . all the way to my office! . . . Hope and greed could ... Show more content on

You might think the investors that bailed out early made out but all of their profits had to be returned
to bankruptcy court to pay back the millions still owed. This still wasn t enough to pay back all the
money owed. Investors only received back $.37 for every dollar they invested. (SSA, 2008) A far cry
from 50% profit. August 1924 Ponzi was released from jail but within months he was back in jail on
indictments that the state didn t get him on before. He was sentenced to nine years in prison but
remained free during his appeal. (Zuckoff, 2005)
Even this didn t stop Ponzi. During this time Ponzi and his wife moved to Jacksonville Florida and
began a new scam. This time it was land. He borrowed money from friends. Opened a company called
Chatpon Land Syndicate. Which play on the name Charles Ponzi. He began to buy up cheap land in
Jacksonville. Most of it swampland, and began selling of lots for nearly 500% profit. (Zuckoff, 2005)
When Florida found out who he was Massachusetts and Florida teamed up to shut him down again.
He was then sentenced to one year in jail for violating securities laws.
Ponzi faked is death and sneaked on to a ship as a dish washer. He eventually told someone who he
was and was captured several months later in Galveston Texas. Ponzi served 9 years in prison and was
deported to Italy October 7 1934 with only $70 in his pocket.

My Internship At The Superdome
Over the first month of my new internship, I had the opportunity to work on new projects and
experience many new things. For instance, my supervisor gave me the responsibility of inventing a
new program for the Superdome. When the idea was presented and approved, I then was in charge of
creating the marketing campaign. The new program was to introduce the idea of having a company
picnic or company outing at the Superdome to large corporations. They would be able to rent out the
entire Dome, 80,000 square feet of field space, as well as a party room and outdoor fields to use for
their employees and employees families. My first mission was to create a flyer for which I could

For example, yesterday was the start of our Summer camps. Children have the option of paying for
lunch in the morning, $5 a day, or $20 for the week on Mondays. I was writing the names down,
indicating whether they paid for the day or the week. Today, Tuesday, I did the same thing, however, I
noticed it was difficult to find the names of the children who paid for the week because it was not
alphabetized. I also found it difficult to stay organized with people who were paying for the rest of the
week, for just that day, or who were checking in for their stamp. Therefore, when all the commotion
cleared from the lobby, I sat down and figured out a new system to implement tomorrow, for a
smoother, easier way of lunch check in. I also have noticed that the Superdome can be unorganized in
its staffing of coaches. A lot of the coaches are college students and have all different schedules.
Therefore, it is difficult to know who is coming in for what event, and it is even more difficult to
figure out who is coming in, if they are not already in, when the time comes. My plan is to coordinate

Disadvantages Of Pro-Poor Tourism
This chapter will present the studies related to growth and development of the tourism industry which
is pro poor tourism. The review of the literature for this study focuses on benefits, image building and
pro poor tourism itself. An extensive literature review has been conducted in order to shed some light
on the various sectors and concepts which may influence these phenomena called pro poor tourism. It
discussed recent trends within the pro poor that support the growth and development of tourism. This
examined the perceived benefits of tourism to the poor community and how image building help to
give poor communities some benefits.
Pro poor tourism
As stated by Pulido Fernandez in 2012, there is a wide range acknowledgement on the economic
connection of tourism (economic regeneration throughout multiplier, enhancement of balance of
payments, employment generation, poverty reduction and etc.), that led on many occasions to
overemphasize its purpose as an instrument of economic development. Tourism is often described as
an action in the direction of incrementing economic assimilation by decreasing natural and human
barriers to trade off and propagates in international capital and labor flows. The profitable activities
and the standard living of the populations can be enhanced by sustainable tourism (Sama, 2011). ...

employment opportunities are frequently ignored in tourism research as well as in making a

unrestricted communication at all time. Mobile telecommunication satisfied people s demand with the
first generation (1G) and the second generation (2G). In the wake of development in multimedia and

Examples Of Globalization In The Movie Lion
Globalization has been presented in almost all of the movies today. In the movie Lion , a big part that
helped the main character find his way was through technology, using media, trade, and transportation
as the main factors. In this film, the producers and directors took a true story about a little boy s
unfortunate mishap that turned around and changed his life. As he went into his adulthood he used
technology and transportation to find where he came from, and through globalization it abled him to
find his way back home.
Throughout the movie the train symbolized the transportation factor of globalization. The train was
there in the beginning when the boy lost his way and, was there at the end when he found it. In the
modern world, trains, planes, cars, and trucks is what we use to travel or transport goods. Yes,
sometimes we can lose our path but transportation also helps us find our way back. Saroo, the main
character of this movie, started off the movie as a little boy around the age of five whose first mistake

Taking a Look at Memory Consolidation
Since Nader, Schafe LaDoux (2000), challenged the previously heralded definition of memory
consolidation, an influx of research addressing various theories of; consolidation, reconsolidation and
potential clinical implications have surfaced. This essay aims to conglomerate the current
understanding of memory reconsolidation, furthermore addressing the resonance upon clinical
psychology.
Neuroscience widely recognised that memories undertake the process of consolidation (Nader
Einarsson, 2010). When memories are nascent, they are prone to interference and are considered labile
. However, through the ensuing process of protein synthesis, they later become stabilised.
Subsequently, the respective disruptions would initiate no detriment (Dudai, 2012). Historically,
consolidation was thought to be the process by which unstable short term memories are transferred
into fixed state long term memories (Nader Einarsson, 2010). Nader Schafe LaDoux (2000)
challenged this concept suggesting it is possible memories become once again unstable. This notion
facilitated a shift in research toward the inherent malleability of memories (Dudai, 2012). It is now
widely embraced in neuroscience that two consolidation processes exist; synaptic consolidation and
system consolidation (Nader Einarsson, 2010). Synaptic consolidation refers to the process of
transforming a memory into long term form at local nodes in the neural circuit that encodes the
memory (Dudai, 2012). This process

Effects Of Global Warming On Human Activity
Statement of the problem:
Nowadays the climate of the Earth is changing rapidly due to the increase of greenhouse gases. 90%
of this gases released in environment is due to the human activity by burning of fossil fuels. Due to the
climate change the health sector is affected mainly children, adults and whole population. The climate
change is danger to the health system, the increase in temperature is causing in heat waves that leads
to less rainfall, rise in sea level and flood. Due to this the health of population is affecting by various
diseases like respiratory problems, heart diseases, cancer and many more. The world health

During the last two decades the respiratory problem has increased in United States due to the climate
factors. The irritants comes from the deserts that travel through by ocean waves which are increased
by the warmer temperatures. Plant pollen has increased which are involved in air that comes in the
form of irritants. Due to this it has resulted in respiratory problems.
It has shown in 2003 the Europe the rise in temperature has killed 40,000 people in six countries. In
India it was around 4000 people who die due to heat waves. In Chicago it was 700 people who
suffered with respiratory problems. It is estimated that if the warming is increased by two degree in
Atlanta results in heat related deaths.
Some researchers stated that blaming activities of human being for destruction is not at all true. They
explained that life has evolved 400 million ago and the amount of co2 was more than 10 times than
now and it had decreased time to time. By this they stated that the human activity is not merely the
main cause. Some researchers argued that human activities and natural process has increased the
greenhouse gases.
Increase in carbon in air and climate change both have an effect in health sector. The consumption of
food which is contaminated with carbons and inhaling the air has increased the body mass. The
changes in climate has shown the stress to the mankind like the disasters which is facing today by the
environment. Increase in weather

Multicultural Community
Communities all over the world vary in terms of diversity. Community in one area could be fully
diverse and multicultural whereas, another community could lack diversity. One area could consist of
multiple ethnicities and their languages. Another area could lack various ethnicities and multiple
languages that they bring. There are many elements that make a community diverse and multicultural.
A multicultural community that is composed of different ethnicities and languages creates a diverse
and an open minded, solid community. The community I lived in Nepal was non diverse compared to
Montgomery County, which consists of multiple ethnicities with linguistic diversity. The community I
spent about nine years in Nepal lacked ethnic diversity. Although Nepal s society as a whole is
ethnically diverse, Nepal is complex due to the caste system that is still in use in modern day. The
community in Nepal that I stayed in was dominated by the Brahmans and Chhetris, who were
members of the highest caste in the Caste system. On the other hand, multiple ethnicities also exist in
Montgomery County as well. Montgomery County is one of the most diverse counties that offers
multi ethnics such as Whites, Blacks, African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, etc. Various ethnicities
make Montgomery County culturally diverse, with the cultures different ethnic individuals bring to
the community. In Nepal, the majority of the spoke the language Nepali. There were also no practices

Questions On Organizational Operating Environments
1. Compare the 2008 top 5 IT management concerns (Luftman et al) and the 2013 top 5 IT
management concerns (Kappelman et al). What concerns have changed in importance? Are there any
new concerns? In your opinion, what changes in organizational operating environments have resulted
in the differences in the priority of concerns? Please justify your answers.
Answer:
Aligning the IT process with business has been one of the top most concern in all the surveys
conducted in past 11 years. It holds true in 2008 as well as in 2013. Out of all the participants 92.6%
of the people have opined that aligning IT with business is important as per the survey conducted in
2008. In 2013 though still in the top five concerns there was a lots of progress ... Show more content

The third issue was that the organizations have to realize the importance of working for each other and
the fourth and final issue was that the organizations have to go beyond the fact that upgrading IT
infrastructure alone wouldn t solve the problem. In 2013 it is clearly realized that transformation and
alignment is not just a one time activity, it is a repetitive activity.
The second in the list of management concerns in 2008 is Building Business Skills where as in 2013
Business Agility took the position. In the year 2008 the norm for an individual s qualifications in the
business organization were looked at in a different perspective. Having rich technical expertise alone
was not sufficient, rather having a balanced set of technical and non technical skills were
recommended. This ensure that the associates hired by the company are not just code generators but
also business professionals who can see value and profits in the day to day business. Having such a
skill set can also help the individuals understand and implement technology in a better way that suits a
modern day business environment. In 2013, things have changes and Business agility was ranked as a
higher concern. Business agility denotes the capacity of a company to not just understand the

These nets are illegal but still used quite often. A drift net is towed behind the boat and captures
anything that swims or floats into it. This often results in by catch, which is the unintentional capture
of certain species, such as bottlenose dolphins (Dolphin p. 2). Another damaging technique used is
long line fishing. Hundreds...of baited hooks can hang on one line. Bait can be squid, fish... The lines
can be set with anchors or left drifting with the current for 12 to 24 hours (Long Line para. 1). These
long lines are harmful to many different animals. Birds are often found on the lines, having drowned
while trying to eat the bait. Loggerhead turtles, which are endangered, are found also. Sharks are the
most common casualty of long lining. (Long Line para. 2). These are just a few of the consequences of
common fishing techniques. This Reduced Catch plan should have the ability to strike a balance
between the environmentalists and fisherman. Commercial fisherman will be able to keep fishing but
will have to reduce the size of their catches. Surely, they will not agree with the reduction in their
catch size but they cannot argue the necessity of replenishing the fish populations. It is summed up
best by marine biologist Sylvia Earle: ...what is not realized is that when the fish have gone, the way

Bourdieu s Understanding the Power for Social Change
Bourdieu describes habitus as a power of adaptation. It constantly performs an adaptation to the
outside world which only exceptionally takes the form of radical conversion (Bourdieu, 1993).
Bourdieu s concept of habitus enables us to understand women as a complex amalgam of their past
and present (Bourdieu, 1990a), but an amalgam that is always in the process of completion. There is
no finality or finished identity. At the same time, habitus also includes a set of complex, diverse
predispositions. It invokes understandings of identity premised on familial legacy and early childhood
socialisation. As such, it is primarily a dynamic concept, a rich interlacing of past and present,
interiorised and permeating both body and psyche. Much of the dynamism of habitus is the product of
the interconnection of habitus with Bourdieu s related concept of field. Field is a set of objective,
historical relations between positions anchored in certain forms of power (or capital) (Wacquant in
Bourdieu Wacquant, 1992, p. 16). A dialectic relationship exists be tween the two concepts. In one
direction there is a flow of influence from field to habitus that produces a relationship of conditioning
in which the field structures the habitus. When Bourdieu refers to , is usually referring to the different
types of capitals that one person can acquire. These capitals are economic, linguistic, and cultural
(Bourdieu, 1991). Depending of the quantity of each of these capitals, a person is

Mark Strand s Use Of Praise In Poetry
In the poem From a Litany by Mark Strand, the world praise is used quite a bit. On the other hand in
Jane Kenyon s Let Evening Come , the word praise is never used but is instead inferred in the poem.
The word praise can actually mean a variety of different things depending on the context; here it is
used to mean admiration. The two poems overlap in the sense that they have a feeling of letting go or
a mellowing out quality that gives the reader a sense of sadness from the author. Both poems depict a
scene of morning to night, or beginning of life to death; thought they have collected after many long
years on earth. Although the similarities are striking in both poems, there are both diverse in there own
way. Both poem expressed admirations for the small things in life. They both mention the sun, sky,
and the ground specifically in their texts. For example in Strand poem he says, ... I praise the sky... I
praise the wind, the rising generations of air... I praise the clocks... All of these things come into play
in our daily lives so why do they get so much attention from Strand? ... Show more content on

Adolf Hitler And Pol Pot
There have been many cases of mass genocide in history. One such case was Adolf Hitler was a
dictator who was leader of the Nazi party in Germany. The Nazis committed a mass genocide of the
Jewish people, and anyone else who they didn t see to be perfect . Hitler s goal was to reform
Germany into a utopian, or perfect society. Similar is a Cambodian man called Pol Pot, who also
committed a mass genocide in order to make the perfect society. He lead the communist group in
Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge using the people s fear and easily given trust. While the public s opinion
of Pol Pot and the goals and impacts of the movement is important to know about, his overall life is
more important to know about because it shaped his character which would cause the Cambodian
genocide. Pol Pot had a privileged way of growing up compared to other Cambodians, which led him
to think that he was superior to others. He was able to quickly gain power due to the people s already
bad feelings towards the previous government. With that power Pol Pot made a lot of choices that
would forever impact Cambodia, such as a mass genocide.
Pol Pot had a better time growing up in Cambodia than most, and was known for liking sports and the
arts. He was born in 1925 to a Buddhist family, and followed all of the Buddhist traditions along with
his family (Cohen,Warren). His family was rice farmers and were poor, but had rich and powerful
connections. Through these connections Pol Pot was able to travel to

Electrolyte Concentration Experiment
The Scientist s topic is about electrolyte concentration in different types of drinks. The question the
scientist is trying to answer is Which drink has the highest lectrolyte concentration for replenishing
more electrolytes during and after physical activity? . The independent variable is the type of drink,
the dependet variable is the conductance (measured in amps) and the control variable is water.
To find out which drink will have the highest concentration of electrolyes, the scientist would have to
measure the conductance of the beverages. To do this, a multimeter along with a 9 volt battery is
needed to measure the current of the beverages. The multimeter is used to find the current of an object.
Specifically, the ammeter would be needed to measure the current, which is then used to find the
overall conductance. You will use it to measure conductance, which is proportional to the electrolyte
concentration. Because electrolytes are charged particles that carry current in solution, the
conductance of the solution depends on the concentration of the electrolytes. (David Whyte, 2016).
Finding the conductance of a substance is done by dividing the substance s current by the voltage. In
this case, the voltage would be from the 9 volt battery used in the experiment. ... Show more content

They believe that there must also be a focus on the individual s spirituality (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 240). A doctor, who practices modern western medicine, places their focus on the physical body and follow a specific scientific process that depends on the illness being cured (Keightley et al., 2011, p. 241). • 8. Speech On Public Shaming The immediacy and fast pace of the internet can be magical, but it can also become a nightmare that ruins a person s life (Source C). The world believes that public humiliation is an effective punishment, but it is overused and ineffective. Public shaming is a dire term due to its high usage. Public shaming dates back to the 1500s. The Puritan society gave their people this type of punishment, as seen in Source A, The Scarlet Letter. They hoped that the sinner would show God their mercy. Now, in the 21st century, public shaming is still taking full effect because of social media, such as Instagram and Facebook. The victims that could not escape public shame are Monica Lewinsky, Justine Sacco, and Hester Prynne. If kids like Tyler Clementi get shamed to death then public shaming is getting dire because the consequences impact a person socially, professionally, and personally. First, public shame affects people socially. Source A claims that: What do we talk of marks and brands, whether on the bodice of her gown, or the flesh of her forehead? (Source A 36). This quote was said at the beginning of The Scarlet Letter by one of the women outside the prison when Hester was released from prison. The quote shows that the townspeople have branded Hester for committing the sin of adultery and are shoving her away from society. This isolation from society is also shown in a quote from Is the Internet a Mob without Consequences? (by Nick Bilton). Source B notes that: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the United Nations office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs, the total number of people affected by severe food insecurity in South Sudan between January and March 2016 got up to 2.8 million. The Causes of the food crisis Food shortages, a deepening economic crisis, insecurity and insufficient agricultural production at household level have caused increased levels of food insecurity and alarming levels of acute malnutrition. There are two kinds of causes one is natural disaster the other cause is man made. The natural disaster in the South Sudan is about the rainfall that is lacking and uneven. The average annual rainfall in South Sudan is 254 millilitre per year. But the uneven rain falling on the country made some areas of the country so arid that no one can grow any food there. • 12. Keats And Finch And The Nightingale In literature, it is generally agreed that The Nightingale invites the beholder to explore something beyond the merely human . Both Keats and Finch imitate this concept in Ode to a Nightingale and To the Nightingale by using poetic form and language to show the qualities of a bird that inspires them to look beyond the physical and in Finch s case, challenge the confines of human restriction whilst asserting poetry as a human necessity. Keats was a key figure in the Romantic era in the first part of the 17th century which, according to René Wellek s classic definition, sought to substitute imagination for the view of poetry, nature for the view of the world, and symbol and myth for poetic style. Therefore, Keats Ode to a Nightingale , written in 1819, has an affiliation with the natural world, through both the metaphors he uses and his meter and rhyme. The fact that the poem is an Ode to a nightingale shows that Keats is addressing the bird in particular and therefore it asserts the link that is found in Romanticism between humans and the natural world. M. H. Abrams states that Keats wrote this poem, whilst reminiscent of a Horation Ode, as what came to be known as a Romantic Meditative Ode which is the personal ode of description and passionate meditation . It is clear here that what Keats is passionate about in this poem is the country green . Keats coined the term negative capability to describe passionate mediation in a letter to ... Horatio Alger was a 19th century author who wrote short stories that all had the same universal theme: a young man rising from a poor childhood to become a successful adult. Alger s stories were enormously popular during his time and continue to be so today with the term Alger Myth become a household saying. The popularity of Alger s stories is not surprising when one considers America has consistently pushed the notion that anyone can achieve success if they work hard. The only hope they have comes from the Alger Myth or other such fables that describe rags to riches stories. In the movie Lion , a big part that helped the main character find his way was through technology, using media, trade, and transportation as the main factors. In this film, the producers and directors took a true story about a little boy s unfortunate mishap that turned around and changed his life. As he went into his adulthood he used technology and transportation to find where he came from, and through globalization it abled him to find his way back home. Throughout the movie the train symbolized the transportation factor of globalization. The train was there in the beginning when the boy lost his way and, was there at the end when he found it. • 29. Taking a Look at Memory Consolidation Since Nader, Schafe LaDoux (2000), challenged the previously heralded definition of memory consolidation, an influx of research addressing various theories of; consolidation, reconsolidation and potential clinical implications have surfaced. This essay aims to conglomerate the current understanding of memory reconsolidation, furthermore addressing the resonance upon clinical psychology. Neuroscience widely recognised that memories undertake the process of consolidation (Nader Einarsson, 2010). When memories are nascent, they are prone to interference and are considered labile . However, through the ensuing process of protein synthesis, they later become stabilised. Subsequently, the respective disruptions would initiate no detriment (Dudai, 2012). Historically, consolidation was thought to be the process by which unstable short term memories are transferred into fixed state long term memories (Nader Einarsson, 2010). Nader Schafe LaDoux (2000) challenged this concept suggesting it is possible memories become once again unstable. This notion facilitated a shift in research toward the inherent malleability of memories (Dudai, 2012). It is now widely embraced in neuroscience that two consolidation processes exist; synaptic consolidation and system consolidation (Nader Einarsson, 2010). Synaptic consolidation refers to the process of transforming a memory into long term form at local nodes in the neural circuit that encodes the memory (Dudai, 2012). This process ... Effects Of Global Warming On Human Activity Statement of the problem: Nowadays the climate of the Earth is changing rapidly due to the increase of greenhouse gases. 90% of this gases released in environment is due to the human activity by burning of fossil fuels. Due to the climate change the health sector is affected mainly children, adults and whole population. The climate change is danger to the health system, the increase in temperature is causing in heat waves that leads to less rainfall, rise in sea level and flood. Due to this the health of population is affecting by various diseases like respiratory problems, heart diseases, cancer and many more. The irritants comes from the deserts that travel through by ocean waves which are increased by the warmer temperatures. Plant pollen has increased which are involved in air that comes in the form of irritants. Due to this it has resulted in respiratory problems. It has shown in 2003 the Europe the rise in temperature has killed 40,000 people in six countries. In India it was around 4000 people who die due to heat waves. In Chicago it was 700 people who suffered with respiratory problems. It is estimated that if the warming is increased by two degree in Atlanta results in heat related deaths. Some researchers stated that blaming activities of human being for destruction is not at all true. They explained that life has evolved 400 million ago and the amount of co2 was more than 10 times than now and it had decreased time to time. By this they stated that the human activity is not merely the main cause. Some researchers argued that human activities and natural process has increased the greenhouse gases. The community I spent about nine years in Nepal lacked ethnic diversity. Although Nepal s society as a whole is ethnically diverse, Nepal is complex due to the caste system that is still in use in modern day. The community in Nepal that I stayed in was dominated by the Brahmans and Chhetris, who were members of the highest caste in the Caste system. On the other hand, multiple ethnicities also exist in Montgomery County as well. The second in the list of management concerns in 2008 is Building Business Skills where as in 2013 Business Agility took the position. In the year 2008 the norm for an individual s qualifications in the business organization were looked at in a different perspective. This often results in by catch, which is the unintentional capture of certain species, such as bottlenose dolphins (Dolphin p. 2). Another damaging technique used is long line fishing. Hundreds...of baited hooks can hang on one line. Bait can be squid, fish... The lines can be set with anchors or left drifting with the current for 12 to 24 hours (Long Line para. 1). These long lines are harmful to many different animals. Birds are often found on the lines, having drowned while trying to eat the bait. Loggerhead turtles, which are endangered, are found also. Sharks are the most common casualty of long lining. (Long Line para. 2). These are just a few of the consequences of common fishing techniques. This Reduced Catch plan should have the ability to strike a balance between the environmentalists and fisherman. • 35. Bourdieu s Understanding the Power for Social Change Bourdieu describes habitus as a power of adaptation. It constantly performs an adaptation to the outside world which only exceptionally takes the form of radical conversion (Bourdieu, 1993). Bourdieu s concept of habitus enables us to understand women as a complex amalgam of their past and present (Bourdieu, 1990a), but an amalgam that is always in the process of completion. There is no finality or finished identity. At the same time, habitus also includes a set of complex, diverse predispositions. It invokes understandings of identity premised on familial legacy and early childhood socialisation. As such, it is primarily a dynamic concept, a rich interlacing of past and present, interiorised and permeating both body and psyche. Much of the dynamism of habitus is the product of the interconnection of habitus with Bourdieu s related concept of field. Field is a set of objective, historical relations between positions anchored in certain forms of power (or capital) (Wacquant in Bourdieu Wacquant, 1992, p. 16). A dialectic relationship exists be tween the two concepts. In one direction there is a flow of influence from field to habitus that produces a relationship of conditioning in which the field structures the habitus. When Bourdieu refers to , is usually referring to the different types of capitals that one person can acquire. These capitals are economic, linguistic, and cultural (Bourdieu, 1991). Depending of the quantity of each of these capitals, a person is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand in Jane Kenyon s Let Evening Come , the word praise is never used but is instead inferred in the poem. The word praise can actually mean a variety of different things depending on the context; here it is used to mean admiration. The two poems overlap in the sense that they have a feeling of letting go or a mellowing out quality that gives the reader a sense of sadness from the author. Both poems depict a scene of morning to night, or beginning of life to death; thought they have collected after many long years on earth. Although the similarities are striking in both poems, there are both diverse in there own way. Both poem expressed admirations for the small things in life. They both mention the sun, sky, and the ground specifically in their texts. For example in Strand poem he says, ... I praise the sky... I praise the wind, the rising generations of air... The Nazis committed a mass genocide of the Jewish people, and anyone else who they didn t see to be perfect . Hitler s goal was to reform Germany into a utopian, or perfect society. Similar is a Cambodian man called Pol Pot, who also committed a mass genocide in order to make the perfect society. He lead the communist group in Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge using the people s fear and easily given trust. While the public s opinion of Pol Pot and the goals and impacts of the movement is important to know about, his overall life is more important to know about because it shaped his character which would cause the Cambodian genocide. Pol Pot had a privileged way of growing up compared to other Cambodians, which led him to think that he was superior to others. He was able to quickly gain power due to the people s already bad feelings towards the previous government. With that power Pol Pot made a lot of choices that would forever impact Cambodia, such as a mass genocide. Pol Pot had a better time growing up in Cambodia than most, and was known for liking sports and the arts. He was born in 1925 to a Buddhist family, and followed all of the Buddhist traditions along with his family (Cohen,Warren). • 40. Electrolyte Concentration Experiment The Scientist s topic is about electrolyte concentration in different types of drinks. The question the scientist is trying to answer is Which drink has the highest lectrolyte concentration for replenishing more electrolytes during and after physical activity? . The independent variable is the type of drink, the dependet variable is the conductance (measured in amps) and the control variable is water. To find out which drink will have the highest concentration of electrolyes, the scientist would have to measure the conductance of the beverages. To do this, a multimeter along with a 9 volt battery is needed to measure the current of the beverages. The multimeter is used to find the current of an object. Specifically, the ammeter would be needed to measure the current, which is then used to find the overall conductance. You will use it to measure conductance, which is proportional to the electrolyte concentration. Because electrolytes are charged particles that carry current in solution, the conductance of the solution depends on the concentration of the electrolytes. (David Whyte, 2016). Finding the conductance of a substance is done by dividing the substance s current by the voltage. In this case, the voltage would be from the 9 volt battery used in the experiment. ...
