The Usefulness Of Teams In Baseball
their team to teams with deeper pockets. The A s have the least money of any major league team. The
cards are stacked against them with no star players, no money, and no edge in scouting new players.
About six months later, the team had won more than 100 games including a twenty game winning
streak in August. (2002 Oakland Athletics Season, 2017) How did they do it? By all measures used at
that time, the A s should ve had a down year. They should have been one of the weakest teams in
baseball. Despite this, they finished first in their division and tied for the most wins in the league.

Fairnelli Characteristics Of The Baroque Period
When thinking about the Baroque period, people tend to only associate it with instrumentalists and
composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, George Fredrich Handel and Antonio Vivaldi. However, in
addition to such instrumentalist and composers, there are some great vocalists who represent the
Baroque period but are not widely recognized today. Carlo Maria Michelangelo Nicola Broschi, who
is better know by his stage name, Farinelli, is an Italian vocalist of the 18th century and one of the
remarkable singers in the history of music. According to Charles Burney, an English music historian,
Fairnelli set off with such brilliancy and rapidity of execution that it was difficult for the violins of
those days to keep pace with him... [he] could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Fairnelli was still a student, his father died unexpectedly at the age of 36, which led his family
in great poverty. In order to maintain economic security and to become the greatest singer of all time,
Fairnelli decided to castrate. As a result, Farinelli was able to keep his powerful male voice that
allowed him to sing any range of voice parts in opera, including high pitched soprano parts. Shortly
after Farinelli s first few public performances, he became popular in many cities as a young talented
singer. In addition to singing, Farinelli was a harpsichordist and a composer. He composed several
cantatas and arias, including the famous piece, Ossequiosissimo ringraziamento, which he also wrote
the lyrics. Therefore, even though Farinelli focused on his vocal the most, he was a gifted musician in
all parts.
Just like most of the talented musicians who begin their careers at young age, Farinelli participated in
several professional stages when he was still only a teenager. At the age of fifteen, Farinelli made his
debut in Popora s Serenata, Angelica e Medoro, with two other professional Italian soprano singers,
Marianna Bulgarelli and Domerico Gizzi at the Royal chapel of Naples. Furthermore, at the age of
seventeen, he sang in Rome in Porpora s Flavio Anicio Olibrio. Farinelli was beloved by the audiences
for his pure and powerful voice with full of musical

The Negative Effects Of COPPA On Children
45% of teens have lied about their age to get a social media account. Children s Online Privacy
Protection Act or COPPA, is the restrictions that keep minors under 13 from getting an email, social
media, and other accounts. Censorship is the exclusion or withholding of information, so COPPA is
technically censorship, because it limits and withholds information from sites and children. COPPA
limits the information that sites can collect from children under 13 , and has successfully limited
information collection and has had multiple violations. COPPA keeps children s information safe and

Arguments For Plaintiffs Motion Attorneys Fees And Costs
OPPOSITION TO PLAINTIFF S MOTION FOR DEFENDANT TO ADVANCE ATTORNEYS

COMES NOW, the Defendant, Michael A. McNeil, and opposes the Plaintiff s Motion for Defendant

1. The Plaintiff s Motion is not properly before this court since she failed to bring it pursuant any
applicable rule since the matter before this court is a child custody/support matter and not a
divorce/alimony/property settlement matter which Sections 7 107, 8 214, and 11 110 of the Maryland

In order for this Court to grant attorney s fees and costs, under Section 12 103 it is required to perform
a Section 12 103(b)(3) analysis in order to determine whether either party had a substantial
justification for bringing, maintaining, or defending the proceeding. Since this requires the Court to
perform a retrospective analysis, it is impossible for this Court to perform the analysis at this point in
the litigation.
5. However, if the Court was to perform a Section 12 103(b)(3) analysis today, it would find that the
Defendant s prima facie case is well supported by police reports, school records, an expert witness
report, the Plaintiff s own testimony, the Plaintiff s own admissions, and the Defendant s testimony.
Whereas, the Plaintiff s prima facie case is not so well supported. (See ¶¶ 31 through 38 of this

other costs. It should be noted that accordance with Scheduling Order (D.E. 588) the period for

A Revision Of The Controlled Substances Act Essay
Considering a Revision of The Controlled Substances Act Drug abuse and misuse are prominent
problems in the United States, whether the issue is with trafficking, overdoses causing death, illegal
recreational use in adolescents, or even improper prescriptions by medical professionals leading to
physiological dependence. The formerly listed problems stem from outdated, yet current, classification
system of drugs in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The Heroin Epidemic is an example of a
problem concerning improper prescribing in medical practice; this issue began when many medical
professionals began to prescribe potent painkillers to their patients early in their treatments. Over time
and with consistent use, the patients grew to psychologically and physiologically depend on the
painkillers. Eventually, the prescribed painkillers became unaffordable and patients began to depend
on a cheaper drug with similar, yet more dangerous, effects: heroin. As a result, many are addicted to
heroin as compared to prescription drugs. There is also an issue concerning qualified medical
professionals that pill mill, meaning they prescribe Schedule II drugs such as oxycodone with the sole
purpose to make more money; this puts the patient in danger in exchange for the doctor s personal
benefit. As a student pursuing a career in the medical field, I find that the proper implementation and
use of medicine and drugs is vital to providing quality health care, so that events like the heroin

Topics in Labor Relations
Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name
implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something.
Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide
important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include
compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can
also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13).
According to our text book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance, increased focus on quality and

This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who
championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions.
The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These
provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers
representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to
form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive
representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining
over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121).
The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and
prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life
example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft
manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its
787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line
is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was
because of previous strikes and the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future.

What Are The Experiences Of African-American Male...
This study endeavored to seek answers that have been at the forefront of research for decades. The
researcher has glanced into the lives and experiences of fourteen African American undergraduate
male students to seek answers to the following questions: (1) What are the experiences of African
American male students in California s public high schools? (2) Are California public high schools
and school based professionals adequately preparing African American male students for post
secondary education options? (3) What kind of barriers, if any, has impacted African American male
students academic success? (4) How are Black male students academically succeeding despite the
academic underachievement that data suggests? and (5) What ... Show more content on

When students feel excluded or not part of, academic achievement decreases (Brown, 2007). The
importance of a positive student to teacher relationship is critical in order for students to succeed and
find themselves fit in the world of academia (Anderson, Nelson, Richardson, Web, Young, 2011).
Interestingly, the data gathered from this study is consistent with previous research on barriers to
student achievement. Anderson et al., (2011) goes on to suggest that there is a direct correlation
between student behavior, positive or negative, and the teacher s relationship with a student. When
considering this, it must be understood that the relationship between the student and teacher, whether
positive or negative, contribute to students academic outcomes and sense of belonging.
Preparing African American male students for college With the rising high school graduation rates
among the African American student body, African American students are still underrepresented in
institutions of higher education (Stinnett, Perkins, Parla, Monson Ready, 2017). Despite the increasing
trends in high school graduation rates among African American students, immediate college
enrollment has not increased significantly since 1990 (Stinnett et al., 2017).

Marlboro Man Persuasive Speech
I am humbled and honored to be a member of the Lumbee Tribe, the largest tribe east of the
Mississippi River. Brooke Medicine Eagle once said, Being Indian is an attitude, a state of mind, a
way of being in harmony with all things and all beings. It is allowing the heart to be the distributor of
energy on this planet; to allow feelings and sensitivities to determine where energy goes; bringing
aliveness up from the Earth and from the Sky, putting it in and giving it out from the heart. From
Medicine Eagles words, energy is forever flowing within nature. In my health profession experience I

the Lumbee people can be improved. In my experience volunteering at the Lumbee health clinic and
working in the hospital as a nurse, I noticed that the Lumbee people were hesitant to seek health
assistance due to poverty, diminished physician rapport, and lack of health insurance. In addition, you

Online File Sharing and Internet Piracy
The United States of America is a free country, then why shouldn t the internet be free? Why should
we have restrictions placed on what we can and cannot do on the internet? Every day, millions of users
share files on the internet through numerous online sources. Whether they download music, movies, or
software, online file sharing can give people access to a plentiful amount of information. These files
are often free and easily accessible by anyone. The practice of distributing or providing access to
digitally stored information represents file sharing (Peer to Peer File Sharing and Copyright
Infringement: Are You Vulnerable?). Conversely many people see file sharing as unlawful. The
reproduction or distribution of any copyrighted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At no cost or free access to any information brings many benefits to users through online piracy. When
anyone downloads a program from an online source they use it as a preview or free trial when none
are available. People do this in order to see what they want is worth the purchase or not. For example:
Someone has no clue what word processing program to buy and he or she does not want to just waste
the money on a word processing program he or she cannot use. This is where internet piracy can come
in to play and benefit him or her greatly. He or she can just download the word processing programs
they have been looking at from an online source to use as a free trial, find the best one, and later buy
it.
Have you ever let a friend borrow a CD, a book, or a movie? The borrowing of copyright materials
like music, books, or movies is an act of colloquially known as piracy. Internet piracy is the borrowing
of files including music through online sites where one person uploads it and many others help
distribute the file. Music files were some of the first types of files to be pirated. Music files are a big
portion of all of the files pirated over the internet. File sharing of music leads to a lot of benefits for
the music industry, record companies, and the artists involved in music. Free exposure through online
sharing of music will benefit the artist, the public, and the music industry (Torr).

Characterization in Sister Carrie Essay
Characterization in Sister Carrie
The theme of unrequited love and unfulfilled ambitions, against a backdrop of a nation being
transformed by industrialism and capitalism, provides the substance of Theodore Dreiser s Sister
Carrie. During the late 19th Century we encounter three main characters who demonstrate this
underlying motif: Carrie Meeber, Charles H. Drouet, and George W. Hurstwood. Carrie will fulfill
many of her desires for riches and success, but her insatiable appetite will leave her feeling dissatisfied
at the end of the novel and all alone. With respect to the two men who most covet her affections,
Charles Drouet and George Hurstwood we have a study in contrasts. About the only thing Drouet and
Hurstwood have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Eby (2) notes, Carrie is not one to submit to a solemn round of industry while postponing
gratification. Appropriately, Carrie s first lover is a drummer or traveling salesman who goes on the
road to market his company s wares.
Neither Carrie nor Drouet produce anything. Carrie uses her natural beauty and charms to consume
the goods Drouet s money provides, but Drouet only makes his money from moving goods not
producing them. As much as neither Carrie nor Drouet produce anything tangible, they are both
necessary kinds of people in the new industrial nation. Eby (2) confirms this reasoning, Drouet
produces nothing tangible to sell, but the efforts of thousands like him kept goods moving to their
ultimate destination, consumers. Potential buyers like Carrie with easily manipulible desires are also
essential: without desire, the consumer economy stalls.
Drouet is written like a character who might become someone like Willy Loman should he ever settle
down and marry and raise children. This is because he is young and good looking and can use his
charms to woo consumers to purchase his products. Nevertheless, Drouet does not accept the realities
of his situation. Like his clothes and manners, if he does not like reality he tries to modify it through a
variety of means, from running away and denial to the pursuit of superficial pleasures as a means of
escape.

Religious Rights Vs Gay Rights Essay
Religious Rights vs. Gay Rights
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community have always had issues with
discrimination and prejudice; even now anti gay movements are growing not only in our communities
but also in our legislative branch in the government. These people disguise their hate behind the
constitution and claim freedom of religion and speech. There ignoreos is growing to our congressmen
and women, laws are being pass in some states to prevent other anti gay laws. We as a nation in some
states are regressing as a whole and not progressing. The progress we have made recently which
allows gay marriage in all 50 states is wonderful progress but we can and should do much more to
allow LGBT members the equality they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Religious Freedom Restoration Act passed in Indiana is one example just a way to legalize
discrimination against gays: any business owner could now refuse to serve them simply by citing a
religious objection. Why do laws like these get pass. Its because of religious congressmen and women
who put their beliefs in the bible on religion over the laws they are supposed to uphold and protect.
Luckily some of these laws have been proven to be unconstitutional under the supreme court but only
after years of activist fighting them. We have made a lot of progress over the years but it still isn t
enough to protect the LGBT community. In this country today can get married on Saturday post
pictures on the wedding online on sunday and be fired from their job or evicted from the apartment on
monday for their sexual orientation. There needs to a national law protected everyone from any form
of discrimination.
If you ask someone if it is illegal to fire someone if they re gay they will most likely say yes but that s
not the case in most of the country. This is why we as a country need to push for better laws protecting
LGBT members and their rights. Until lawmakers put aside their religious and anti gay beliefs and
give LGBT members their basic right do they don t have to live in fear or losing there home or job just
because of who they

Sunset In St. Tropez
Sunset in St. Tropez is a novel written by Danielle Steel. In the novel Diana and Eric Morrison, Robert
and Anne smith and John and Pascale Donnelly decide to take a holiday to St. Tropez. They book a
spacious villa for all of them to enjoy their summer. Tragedy strikes as the very much loved Anne
passes from an unexpected heart attack. All the couples unite in their love and grieve for Robert as this
was a significant loss. Eventually, Robert is spotted with a potential love interest, controversy arrives
between the women of the couples as they do not believe Roberts new love interest Gwen is good for
Robert and potentially taking advantage of him. Steel purposely makes the actions of the people
something to react to or feel emotion too. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the text, Pascale and Diana treated Gwen with disrespect due to what they had known
about her which was very little and her appearance. They thought she was going to take advantage of
Robert because she was a successful movie actress. An example of this shown in the text is when
Diana said to Robert You have to be careful. There are a lot of very manipulative, very artful women
out there. Although Diana said this in a generalized term it was aimed towards Gwen. I found this
quite frustrating because I believe you should support your friends with the decisions they choo,
especially if it s the choice to have a relationship with someone. Although I do understand that Diana
is being cautious for Robert as his wife passed in recent months but I do think that she should be
supportive towards him and not categorize Gwen as being manipulative or artful . In society these
days women are recognized by many labels, some of which include; petite or dainty . I find these
disgusting as it does not describe the individual but they are referred to as a group. In my opinion, I
believe labels and stereotypes should be banished as everyone is different whether they are the same
ethnicity, gender or have the same occupation. Every individual is Unique and should be treated with
respect in my belief. Another reason why I dislike Pascale and Diana is because they made the
assumption that Gwen was just using Robert. Pascale said, What if she is going to break his heart or
use him? Basically, Pascale and Diana are judging her by her appearance, her occupation and the ways
she acts. Making rude remarks towards Gwen when she has done nothing wrong forces me to dislike
both Diana and Pascale as I believe you should not judge a book by its cover or a person by their face
as it s what is said on the pages is what really counts. I think getting to know someone s personality

Federated Department Stores made a decision in 2005 to reposition and consolidate 15 of its regional
department store chains under just one national brand Macy s. This decision was in response to the
decline in sales and profits that had hit the traditional department store industry, which was in a
maturing stage and moving towards a downward trend for some time. Just three years later, in 2008,
U.S. economy was hit with a recession that threatened the livelihood of many successful retail giants.
While Macy s did experience a significant drop in revenue in 2008 with a net loss of $4,803 million,

and repositioning efforts had their benefits, there were some challenges. Change is often very difficult
as most individuals are creatures of habit. Thus, consolidation of department stores to one brand (in
this case Macy s) meant that existing consumers who had regularly shopped at their favorite
department stores (such as Marshall Field s in Chicago) would now have to adjust to new products,
prices and services. In fact, the perception of some loyal consumers post consolidation was negative,
complaining that Macy s store had lower quality products and services. In addition, Macy s had
standardized its products and pricing nationwide to lower purchasing cost, however this tactic actually
backfired. Standardization resulted in higher prices of products offered at Macy s compared to the
former regional department stores chains, thus consumers were apprehensive to shop at the

What Is The Theme Of Touching The Void
Touching the void by Joe Simpson is a vivid, intense and powerful story of a horrifying adventure in
the Peruvian Andes. Two experienced climbers, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, set out to conquer the
mountain Siula Grande. They do indeed achieve their aim, but disaster strikes on the way down and
Simon has to make an impossible decision should he cut the rope holding Joe, thereby saving his own
life, or should he stay attached, leading to certain death for both of them? They face an almost

the power of mother nature s battle. Alpine Style climbing can be very dangerous and is also the style
Joe and Simon used. This means carrying all of one s food, shelter, equipment, etc. climbing up the
mountain. The novel as a whole demonstrates survival, because it s all about a man who had the
extraordinary ability of human nature to survive, physically and mentally. When Joe was in the

external and internal expectations that make their lives not so made. Ponyboy and Cherry are outsiders
because they see the world differently than the groups that they are in and have a window to escape

Ponyboy Curtis faces stereotype threat because of the actions of the group that he is in. They ll know

stereotype threat because people are scared just at the sight of Johnny and Ponyboy. Stereotype threat

way they dress. It drives my brother Darry nuts when I do stuff like that, cause I m supposed to be

Tanner Powley s Reaction To The Myth, The Legend
The myth, the legend... Tanner Regional camp for the Olympic Development team was in Rockford,
Illinois, and they played the Kansas State team. The team was warming up with anxious thoughts. But
when the whistle blew, they knew it was game time. Tanner was running back and forth across the
field playing diligently, when he got the ball and made a sprint for the net. He raised his foot back as
hard as he could and hit the ball forcefully when.. he made it in! This is just one of many significant
moments in Tanner Powley s life. Interviewing Tanner was interesting, and I found out how different
we are. I learned that he likes to do soccer, band and a cow is his spirit animal. Tanner s exciting life
started when he was born in Wedel, Germany. When he was one, he moved all the way across the
world to St. Louis, Missouri. His family ancestors came from Germany and Ireland, which is pretty
cool since he s traveled most of Europe. But even though he s been to all these places, Marathon,
Florida is his favorite vacation spot, and when asked why,he informed the water is really clear and
good for swimming and there s great fishing spots . Tanner has 2 siblings. A brother, Hunter who is 18

researched spirit animals, the cow spirit symbolizes health, generosity, and abundance. When
interviewing Tanner, I didn t know what a spirit animal was so Ii inquired for more information. He
said that a spirit animal is a being that defines your essence (Powley) So all in all, Tanner completely

The Goal By Eli Goldratt
The novel The Goal by Eli Goldratt is an inspiring story of a manufacturing plant that seems to need
some help staying afloat. The story explains the Theory of Constraints and concentrates on bottlenecks
and constraints. The plant manager, and also the main character in the story, is Alex Rogo. In the book,
Alex is depicted as a husband, a father and long time project engineer and plant manager at UniCo
struggling with both his marriage and his manufacturing plant. The main plot of the story starts off
with Bill Peach (Division Vice President) telling Alex that the plant is not profitable. Peach then gives
Alex a three month deadline to improve the plant s performance dramatically and increase profits or
the production plant will shut down. Peach fails to mention that the entire division is under water and
may soon be shut down by corporate. During this challenging time, Alex is also dealing with an
impatient wife at home who is sick and tired of her husband spending so much time at work. She
eventually moves out and Alex is stuck trying to figure out how he can salvage both his marriage and
production plant. When Alex runs into an old Physics Professor, Jonah, he begins to express all of his
challenges at work and is surprised to hear that Jonah is fully aware that the plant is missing deadlines
and experiencing high inventory and expenses. Jonah helps to guide Alex through this challenging
period. Before Alex can tackle the problems, he must first identify the goal.

Gold, furs, religious freedoms, a new start, a new venture; whatever the reason that prompted a colony
to commence in America, one thing stood out in the minds of the settlers: survival. The first colonist
stood on ground once thought absent to the world, their journey started and ended where most before
thought the world too ended. Yet, for these first pilgrims, puritan, and pioneers the new world
provided untold possibilities, sadly though, it also yielded immeasurable hardships. This is why, the
history of colonial cooperate has always demonstrated to some degree, a yearning for unity and
cooperation; this history also provides the basis that fuels the need for a common government, that

The Bible And The Word inspire Essay
The Bible and the Word quot;Inspire quot;
According to the Random House Dictionary, the word inspire means quot;to infuse an animating,
quickening, or exalting influence into, or to communicate or suggest by a divine influence. quot; This
definition indicates, when applied to the scripture, that the stories and writings in the Bible did not
come solely from the minds of the respective authors, but rather from a divine source. This suggests
that the authors were scribes, reproducing what was instilled in them by God. This idea is
strengthened by looking at distinct examples from the scripture that show that scripture is inspired,
and not made up. By using the form of criticism known as literary criticism, we can analyze certain ...

God can be viewed as an indirect author, and the inspiration for scripture.
quot;We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and the comings
of our Lord Jesus Christ but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. quot; quot;Above all you must
understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by the prophet s own interpretation. For
prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along
by the Holy
Spirit. quot; From the standpoint of a literary critic, these two passages represent the question at hand
as to whether or not scripture is inspired. Literary criticism looks at the passage as a whole, and reads
what it says, just as a normal person would. Using this method, we see easily that scripture is in fact
inspired, because it states that there were no cleverly invented stories, but rather God s own words.
God s plans for his people are carefully laid out, and there is much doubt that He would entrust
average people to teach others about
His word without careful explanation as to exactly what it is, and how it came to be. This is why much

Analysis Of Prufrock s A Good Boy
The District court improperly granted summary judgment as a reasonable jury could find that Prufrock
suffered a tangible detriment when he was denied tutoring and received the worst English grade of his
college career after he rejected Professor Crewel s offer to take care of things for him if he was a good
boy .(Prufrock Dep. 4:5 24, June 1, 2014.)To determine whether plaintiff suffered a tangible
detriment, courts consider whether 1) plaintiff suffered a material loss and 2) the loss resulted from
plaintiff s rejection of advances. See e.g., Johnson v. Galen Health Insts., Inc., 267 F. Supp. 2d 679,
684 (W.D. Ky. 2003).
Courts have defined a material loss as an adverse change to a crucial aspect of the employment or
educational experience. See e.g., Bowman v. Shawnee, 220 F.3d 456, 461 462 (6th Cir. 2000);
Johnson 267 F. Supp. 2d at 684. In the educational context, courts have found that a jury could find a
tangible detriment to be a loss of course credit, evaluations, grades and recommendations. Johnson
267 F. Supp. 2d at 684. In Johnson the court held that a reasonable jury could find that the plaintiff
suffered a material loss where she failed the course as receiving credit was a crucial aspect of her
education. Id. Similarly, in Petrone v. Cleveland the court noted that recommendations and evaluations
were material components of education. 993 F. Supp. 1119, 1129 (N.D. Ohio 1998).

Trisha Brown Research Paper
Trisha Brown was born in Aberdeen, Washington on November 25th, 1936 and received her B.A.
degree in dance from Mills College in 1958. She later received a D.F.A. from Bates College in 2000.
For many summers, she studied with Louis Horst at the American Dance Festival, which was then
held at Connecticut College.
Trisha moved to New York City to study composition with Robert Dunn, who had taught a class at
Merce Cunningham s studio. This studio was based on John Cage s theories of chance. Brown rejected
aspects of it but also maintained great admiration for him and his work. In 1961 she trained with
dancer Anna Halprin and became a founding member of the avant garde Judson Dance Theater in
1962. There she worked with experimental dancers Steve Paxton, Twyla Tharp, Lucinda Childs,
Yvonne Rainer, and David Gordon. In the late 1960s, Brown created her own works which attempted
to defy gravity using equipment such as harnesses and ropes, which allowed dancers to walk on or
down walls to experiment with the dynamics of stability. These equipment pieces were the first dances
to comprise a distinct series in what would become a working method for her as she went on to create
various cycles of dances throughout her career.
In 1970, Brown cofounded the Grand Union, which was an experimental dance collective, and then

are not limited to, the restriction of cheating, cell phone use, plagiarism, and resubmission.

I have truly learned a lot about myself, morality and ethics, and the importance of integrity as a result
of this incident. This was a one time incident that occurred due to laziness and lack of respect I had for
myself, my abilities, and for the class. This will never occur again and I have truly learned my lesson.
Consequently, I have changed my behavior. I now believe in the importance of studying rather than
winging it, honoring myself and my class rather than getting by, and learning the material for the sake
of knowledge rather than to just pass it.
The Honor Code policies at various public universities hold striking similarities, and obvious
differences, to the policies set in place at the University of Colorado Boulder. To commence, the
Honor Code pledge at Colorado State University mirrors CU s pledge almost precisely: I have not

in which CSU deals with academic misconduct vary drastically from CU s means of chastising
students. In my experience with the cheating infraction, my TA, Mona Bdewi, did not address or warn

without giving me the chance to explain my side. Neither the TA, nor my Professor, allowed me the

In the very beginning of the book, Feliciano is as a man fighting for a cause during the battles with the
rinches and expresses his hatred toward them. Feliciano later takes care of Gualinto, the son of
Gumersindo, and his mother because of the death of Gualinto s father, the family had to move to a

be successful in life, one must be humble, intelligent, and diligent in his work, just like Gualinto s

Americans. After several months of working there, Feliciano then changes career positions; started off

For years since the attacks on 9/11, prisoners suspected of terrorist actions have been treated poorly

legality. This is upsetting how the United States government tortures people only suspected of terrorist

Analysis Of Without You, There Is No Us By Suki Kim
In the nonfiction article, Without You, There Is No Us: My Time With the Sons of North Korea s Elite
by Suki Kim, Kim describes her time in North Korea as an English school teacher and the different
procedures that the government uses to manipulate and control her. Under all of the distress and
disorder, she discovers that true beauty lies within. Kim s central idea of the text is that people in
North Korea are unable to achieve enlightenment because the government has control over nearly
every aspect of their citizen s lives. This concept progresses over the course of the text by
demonstrating the propaganda that North Korea s government beholds and the list that Kim provides
which explicates the rules and regulations she must follow; if this is not accomplished, then there may
be very harsh consequences. Towards the end of the text, Kim completely divulges her original
concept by stating that the children are beautiful entities, divergent from the government in many
ways.
In the beginning of the text, Kim describes her personal experience of going to North Korea to
become an English teacher. She begins to construct the idea that the government is much more
oppressive and has many different ideals than that of the U.S. In order to show her personal
experience of going to North Korea, Kim says, Everything...had to be approved by them before we
could share it with students (Kim). By Kim stating that everything had to be approved by her superiors

What Are The Factors That Affect The Rate Of Reaction
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this investigation was to identify and investigate the relationship between various
factors and the rate of a reaction. The reaction that was tested, used the combination of a potassium
starch solution mixed with a sodium solution, commonly known as the Iodine Clock Reaction . The
two clear solutions are mixed together, which after a given time will form a dark blue solution. The
factors used in this investigation are the concentration of two substances and the temperature at which
the reaction occurred.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Kinetics is essentially the study of reaction rates and how they can be affected. Factors such as
concentration, pressure, temperature, and enzyme activity, are commonly tested regarding their impact
on the rate of a reaction (Khan Academy, 2017). It is important to recognise and understand the
components that affect the rate of chemical reactions as this allows control over the reaction process.
Chemical reactions progress naturally at different rates. A chemical reaction involves the
rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of substances as they change into other substances
by the breaking of bonds in reactants and the formation of bonds in products (Wilbraham, 2002).
Collision theory can be used to explain why chemical reactions proceed at different rates. Collision
Theory states that atoms, ions and molecules must collide in order for a reaction to proceed and form
products (Stubbings, 2017). Thus, the

Group Think Essay
Group Think
This type of dysfunctional operation of an organization has many ways and opportunities for failure.
The basic fundamentals of this process are the beginnings of failure as groups seek conformity and
unity they sacrifice everything in order to maintain peace within the group. Many times this will take
the individuals creative thoughts and ability to voice the creative edge thinking away. In many
organizations this is a process that is continually used. It is perceived that management wants the
organizations operation or process to run without any type of question or waves. Below are listed eight
of the main symptoms of group think as detailed by Janis, I. L Manns book Decision making
Symptoms of Groupthink are divided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Decision making is affected by the Group Think because of the lack of openness that should be
displayed and offered by everyone involved. The development of the organization is dependent on the
ability of the group to make decisions that are thought through and not made solely on pressures and
accepted or narrow minded ways that are not thought out.
More specifically, whenever a group making policy displays most of the symptoms of Groupthink
then we can expect to find that the group also displays symptoms of defective decision making. Seven
such examples are as Janis states:
1. Incomplete survey of alternatives.
2. Incomplete survey of objectives.
3. Failure to examine risks of preferred choice.
4. Failure to reappraise initially rejected alternative.
5. Poor information search.
6. Selective bias in processing information at hand.
7. Failure to work out contingency plans.
One of the worst Groupthink decisions ever was the decision to launch the Space shuttle Challenger.
On the morning of January 28, 1986, the space shuttle Challenger blasted off from the Kennedy Space
Center in Florida
Seventy three seconds after the countdown clock reached zero the Challenger exploded. Immediately
after the explosion President Reagan appointed a commission to find out why the Challenger
exploded. In a five volume published report, the presidential commission identified the primary cause

Bullying Is An Emotional And Emotionally Draining Issue
Bullying is an emotional and physically draining issue that is prominent throughout the world today.
School bullying has been recognized as a major problem in many countries, and almost anyone you
come across has a story they can tell about it. Bullying can conceive a hard lifestyle for someone who
is victimized and can threaten a person s opportunities in life in the near future. The social climate of a
school is a replica of the world outside. All fifty states have passed school anti bullying legislation, but
each state addresses bullying differently. It is equally important that where people advance a large
portion of their mortality, their understanding how the world works and how their sense of
responsibility goes towards the society they live in. There is more to bullying than you can
comprehend, there is a cycle, challenges in preventing it and long term affects that come from it.
The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on
and do nothing. That quote stated by Albert Einstein is similar to the bullying cycle that was created
by an American nurse. There are five steps in the bullying cycle and each plays its own specific role.
The first step in the bullying cycle is the bully. The bully is the primary aggressor and is typically
influenced in looking for capability or authority over another human being. Also, the bully is either
looking for attention or possess a strong self esteem towards themselves or others.

Four Types of Measurement Scales
Introduction There are four measurement scales, or types of data, nominal, ordinal interval and ratio.
These four measurements are simple ways to categorize different types of variables. This paper will
discuss the usage of each scale.
Nominal
Nominal scales are the most commonly used in marketing research. Nominal scales are used for
labeling variables, without any quantitative value. In fact, Nominal scales could be called labels .
Nominal are categories with numbers assigned to them to facilitate analysis. A nominal scale partitions
data into categories that are mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive, implying that every bit of
data will fit into one and only one category and that all data will fit somewhere on the ... Show more

Conclusion It s important to recognize that there is a hierarchy implied in the level of measurement
idea. At lower levels of measurement, assumptions tend to be less restrictive and data analyses tend to
be less sensitive. At each level up the hierarchy, the current level includes all of the qualities of the one
below it and adds something new. In general, it is desirable to have a higher level of measurement

is because my goal is to graduate from college with a major in marketing. I watch commercials and
laugh when I see the approach used by some businesses to get the attention of their consumers.
Women tend to watch talk shows and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juice boxes always claim to be made with real fruit juice when they really only have about 5%, but
moms are looking to give their children the very best. There are some commercials targeted just for
the mom in mind though, such as: Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and cereals that are good for you
like Special K. Moms who do not have much time on their hands need an easy way to lose weight, so
when they see these commercials they may think it will get them a little thinner without the effort of
committing to a gym. Lastly, there are commercials for hair color, shampoo, conditioner, and makeup.
Herbal Essence chooses to show how using their product will take you away from all the hassles of
the world when you use it. What mom wouldn t want that?
The other audience watching shows such as Judge Judy and Moral Court are the out of work people.
This audience is kind of a slacker who lays around the house all day not motivated to find a job or do
much of anything except flip through the channels. These people aren t interested in what they can buy
so they need different advertising. This is where the chiropractors, lawyers, ideas/patents, and college

What Is Jared Diamond s The Ends Of The World As We Know...
The Ends of the World as We Know Them by Jared Diamond describes the factors that made powerful
societies through history collapse. What makes this text interesting, is the way the author relates these
problems to the current situation in the United States. Diamond develops a very effective technique
during the description of these factors by creating a parallelism between ancient societies and the
modern age. This parallelism allows the author to analyze the problems that threaten modern day
society and more specifically the United States. One very important feature of Diamonds analysis and
description in the text is the level at which the reader is involved. The author engages the reader in
thinking critically about the problems and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most straightforward: take environmental problems seriously. They destroyed societies in the past
, and they are even more likely to do so now. In 6,000 Polynesians with stone tools were able to
destroy Mangareva Islands, consider what six billion people with metal tools and bulldozers are doing
today. Moreover, while the Maya collapse affected just a few neighboring societies in Central
America, globalization now means that any society s problems have the potential to affect anyone
else. Just think how crises in Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq have shaped the United States today.
(646) In this paragraph the author engages the reader in thinking about the magnitude of
environmental problems in modern day society by creating a parallelism with the Mayan and
Polynesian cultures. This is one of the many examples the author uses throughout the text. In this text
Diamond introduces a series of factors that have proven to gradually destroy strong kingdoms and
cultures throughout history. He thinks of these factors as a useful checklist that should be examined in
order to disrupt their progression in today s world. When it comes to historical collapses, five groups
of interacting factors have been especially important: the damage that people have inflicted on their
environment; climate change; enemies; changes in friendly trading partners; and the society s political,
economic and social responses to these shifts.

We are all aware of the entire buzz circulating around the Internet and certain health circles about all
the benefits that are associated with Apple Cider Vinegar. So, what is the big deal about Apple Cider
Vinegar? Are the claims true? First, it is important to know a little background about the product.
Apple Cider Vinegar or AVC is actually a product that comes from apples. It is produced by crushing

  • 3. Fairnelli Characteristics Of The Baroque Period When thinking about the Baroque period, people tend to only associate it with instrumentalists and composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, George Fredrich Handel and Antonio Vivaldi. However, in addition to such instrumentalist and composers, there are some great vocalists who represent the Baroque period but are not widely recognized today. Carlo Maria Michelangelo Nicola Broschi, who is better know by his stage name, Farinelli, is an Italian vocalist of the 18th century and one of the remarkable singers in the history of music. Shortly after Farinelli s first few public performances, he became popular in many cities as a young talented singer. In addition to singing, Farinelli was a harpsichordist and a composer. He composed several cantatas and arias, including the famous piece, Ossequiosissimo ringraziamento, which he also wrote the lyrics. Therefore, even though Farinelli focused on his vocal the most, he was a gifted musician in all parts. Just like most of the talented musicians who begin their careers at young age, Farinelli participated in several professional stages when he was still only a teenager. At the age of fifteen, Farinelli made his debut in Popora s Serenata, Angelica e Medoro, with two other professional Italian soprano singers, Marianna Bulgarelli and Domerico Gizzi at the Royal chapel of Naples. • 8. A Revision Of The Controlled Substances Act Essay Considering a Revision of The Controlled Substances Act Drug abuse and misuse are prominent problems in the United States, whether the issue is with trafficking, overdoses causing death, illegal recreational use in adolescents, or even improper prescriptions by medical professionals leading to physiological dependence. The formerly listed problems stem from outdated, yet current, classification system of drugs in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The Heroin Epidemic is an example of a problem concerning improper prescribing in medical practice; this issue began when many medical professionals began to prescribe potent painkillers to their patients early in their treatments. Over time and with consistent use, the patients grew to psychologically and physiologically depend on the painkillers. Eventually, the prescribed painkillers became unaffordable and patients began to depend on a cheaper drug with similar, yet more dangerous, effects: heroin. As a result, many are addicted to heroin as compared to prescription drugs. There is also an issue concerning qualified medical professionals that pill mill, meaning they prescribe Schedule II drugs such as oxycodone with the sole purpose to make more money; this puts the patient in danger in exchange for the doctor s personal benefit. As a student pursuing a career in the medical field, I find that the proper implementation and use of medicine and drugs is vital to providing quality health care, so that events like the heroin ... Topics in Labor Relations Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something. Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was because of previous strikes and the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interestingly, the data gathered from this study is consistent with previous research on barriers to student achievement. Anderson et al., (2011) goes on to suggest that there is a direct correlation between student behavior, positive or negative, and the teacher s relationship with a student. During the late 19th Century we encounter three main characters who demonstrate this underlying motif: Carrie Meeber, Charles H. Drouet, and George W. Hurstwood. Carrie will fulfill many of her desires for riches and success, but her insatiable appetite will leave her feeling dissatisfied at the end of the novel and all alone. Appropriately, Carrie s first lover is a drummer or traveling salesman who goes on the road to market his company s wares. Neither Carrie nor Drouet produce anything. Carrie uses her natural beauty and charms to consume the goods Drouet s money provides, but Drouet only makes his money from moving goods not producing them. As much as neither Carrie nor Drouet produce anything tangible, they are both necessary kinds of people in the new industrial nation. Eby (2) confirms this reasoning, Drouet produces nothing tangible to sell, but the efforts of thousands like him kept goods moving to their ultimate destination, consumers. Potential buyers like Carrie with easily manipulible desires are also essential: without desire, the consumer economy stalls. Drouet is written like a character who might become someone like Willy Loman should he ever settle down and marry and raise children. This is because he is young and good looking and can use his charms to woo consumers to purchase his products. Nevertheless, Drouet does not accept the realities of his situation. Like his clothes and manners, if he does not like reality he tries to modify it through a variety of means, from running away and denial to the pursuit of superficial pleasures as a means of escape. ... They thought she was going to take advantage of Robert because she was a successful movie actress. An example of this shown in the text is when Diana said to Robert You have to be careful. There are a lot of very manipulative, very artful women out there. Although Diana said this in a generalized term it was aimed towards Gwen. I found this quite frustrating because I believe you should support your friends with the decisions they choo, especially if it s the choice to have a relationship with someone. Although I do understand that Diana is being cautious for Robert as his wife passed in recent months but I do think that she should be supportive towards him and not categorize Gwen as being manipulative or artful . In society these days women are recognized by many labels, some of which include; petite or dainty . The Bible And The Word inspire Essay The Bible and the Word quot;Inspire quot; According to the Random House Dictionary, the word inspire means quot;to infuse an animating, quickening, or exalting influence into, or to communicate or suggest by a divine influence. quot; This definition indicates, when applied to the scripture, that the stories and writings in the Bible did not come solely from the minds of the respective authors, but rather from a divine source. This suggests that the authors were scribes, reproducing what was instilled in them by God. This idea is strengthened by looking at distinct examples from the scripture that show that scripture is inspired, and not made up. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. quot; From the standpoint of a literary critic, these two passages represent the question at hand as to whether or not scripture is inspired. Literary criticism looks at the passage as a whole, and reads what it says, just as a normal person would. Using this method, we see easily that scripture is in fact inspired, because it states that there were no cleverly invented stories, but rather God s own words. God s plans for his people are carefully laid out, and there is much doubt that He would entrust average people to teach others about His word without careful explanation as to exactly what it is, and how it came to be. Under all of the distress and disorder, she discovers that true beauty lies within. What Are The Factors That Affect The Rate Of Reaction ABSTRACT The purpose of this investigation was to identify and investigate the relationship between various factors and the rate of a reaction. The reaction that was tested, used the combination of a potassium starch solution mixed with a sodium solution, commonly known as the Iodine Clock Reaction . The two clear solutions are mixed together, which after a given time will form a dark blue solution. The factors used in this investigation are the concentration of two substances and the temperature at which the reaction occurred. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Kinetics is essentially the study of reaction rates and how they can be affected. Factors such as concentration, pressure, temperature, and enzyme activity, are commonly tested regarding their impact on the rate of a reaction (Khan Academy, 2017). It is important to recognise and understand the components that affect the rate of chemical reactions as this allows control over the reaction process. Chemical reactions progress naturally at different rates. A chemical reaction involves the rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of substances as they change into other substances by the breaking of bonds in reactants and the formation of bonds in products (Wilbraham, 2002). Collision theory can be used to explain why chemical reactions proceed at different rates. Collision Theory states that atoms, ions and molecules must collide in order for a reaction to proceed and form products (Stubbings, 2017). Thus, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
