Andy Warhol Analysis
If I could be any artist from the history of art, I would want to be the female version of Andy Warhol.
Warhol was a talented artist along with other things such as being a well accredited producer and
director. In my opinion, one of Warhol s best works of art is Coca Cola. Although this painting might
be ordinary and simple, I think Warhol s reason for creating this art, along with most of his other art, is
what made Warhol s art so famous and popular. As Warhol stated himself, I just paint things I always
thought were beautiful, things you use every day and never think about ( Andy Warhol ). Warhol
turned normal, everyday objects like a Coca Cola bottle into a work of art because he was grateful for
the simple things in life due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Warhol did not have the easiest time growing up, yet he was still able to create a successful and
memorable life for himself. I think that Warhol and I have a similar outlook on life. I hope that no
matter where my life takes me that I can continue to make the most of the littlest things just like
Warhol did. If I were an artist like Warhol, my art would be centered around my life and simple
objects. Art should be expressive, and what better way to express oneself than to show their life
struggles through art. I would also create art that enhances simply, everyday objects. Sometimes the
things we tend to overlook are the things that have the most beauty. Not everyone finds beauty in
ordinary objects, but that is something that Warhol and I have in common everyday objects can be

Project Delivery Process For Solid Waste Management Essay
CLIP (Collaboration/Conflict, Legitimacy, Influence, Power) is both a powerful tool and a process for
providing insights into the stakeholders of a project. It is especially useful for more complex projects,
with a large and diverse range of stakeholders
Defining stakeholders in solid waste management
We have found evidence that all of the groups described below are important in the project delivery
process for solid waste management services. Stakeholders will not always fall into the above
categories. In particular, whether a group is classified as secondary or external clearly depends on the
specific project objectives.
Background
Solid waste management involves the storage, collection, transport and disposal of waste which is
generated in the home, commercial premises and institutions.
Good solid waste management is an important component of a strategy for improving environmental
health. In addition to the obvious aesthetic importance of a garbage free living environment,
uncollected solid waste rapidly putrefies in tropical climates, creating noxious smells, giving rise to
polluting leachates, providing breeding areas for countless flies and, in the wet season, mosquitoes. A
particularly important indirect effect is the blocking of drains, which causes local flooding with its
associated environmental health risks and economic disbenefits.
Understanding how solid waste management works
Whose responsibility is it? Municipal corporations and councils are charged with

Arguments Against Indigenous Self Government
Prior to contact with Europeans, Indigenous peoples relied on their own established ways of political
systems and institutions, in other words, Indigenous peoples were a self governing society. However,
many of these political systems were legally suppressed and ignored by the federal government as an
attempt to assimilate and civilize Indigenous peoples. The 1876 Indian Act dismantled traditional
systems of governance and imposed external controls in the form of local Indian agents and the
federal bureaucracy of the Department of Indian Affairs (now Indigenous and Northern Affairs
Canada) on individuals and communities (Henderson, 2006). Indigenous peoples have been trying to
get back the right to govern themselves and preserve their cultural identities since the arrival of
Europeans, and in addition, there has been a current and long going debate ... Show more content on

Canada has signed 22 self government agreements recognizing a wide range of Aboriginal
jurisdictions that involve 36 Aboriginal communities across Canada (Self Government, Indigenous
and Northern Affairs Canada, 2015), one example being the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. There
are many advantages of recognizing the right to self governance within Indigenous communities,
which can be seen throughout the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. One advantage of Indigenous self
government, as stated by Canadian Indigenous law expert, John Borrows (2016), is that if Indigenous
peoples were recognized as having the right to self governance, they d be able to get away from Indian
Act (CBC News). The contemporary version of the Indian Act still outlines various rules around
reserves, management of band resources, elections, and other aspects of life on a reserve (Henderson,
2006). However, if Indigenous

The Islamic State Of Iraq And The Levant
Over the past few years the world has witnessed the rapid emergence of one of the most dangerous
and violent terrorist organizations in history. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, better known as
ISIL or ISIS and formerly known as al Qaeda in Iraq, is an Islamic extremist group that has caught the
attention of the world because of the swift and ferocious way that the group has been able to seize
large portions of Iraq and Syria. ISIS has displayed such brutality in its attacks, with mass executions,
beheadings, and crucifixions becoming the norm, that even Osama bin Laden, the now deceased
founder of the infamous militant Islamic organization, al Qaeda, eventually chose to dissociate from
them (Saletan, 2014). Although the Middle East is no stranger to religious extremism and political
unrest, the ferocity and speed at which ISIS was able to gain control is unprecedented. As the
atrocities of the group s rampage through Iraq and Syria came to light, the world was left scratching its
head wondering how ISIS was so quickly able to gain power and control over such a large territory.
The answer lies in a look back at the poor decisions made by the Bush Administration after the
invasion of Iraq in 2003. It was the desire of the United States to withdraw from Iraq too quickly, their
appointment of inept leadership, and a series of careless decisions that allowed ISIS to take advantage
of an unstable government left behind by the United States after the Iraq War.

Fidelity, Bravery, And Integrity
Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity. That is the motto. On July 26, 1908, U.S. Attorney General Charles
Bonaparte ordered a group of newly hired federal investigators to report to Chief Examiner Stanley W.
Finch of the Department of Justice. About one year later, the Office of Chief Examiners was renamed
the Bureau of Investigators. It later became the Federal Bureau of Investigators in 1935. With
headquarters in Washington D.C, the FBI is our prime source of investigative resources and
responsible for more than 200 crime categories.
In 1870, when the Department of Justice was created to enforce the federal laws and coordinate
different policies, there was not a set staff. Private detectives were hired when federal crimes needed
to be investigated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The selection process is intimidating. Real life FBI work is much different than the things that may be
seen on television. This job requires the ability to stay focused, a high intelligence level, as well as
education. Law enforcement is one of the leading careers resulting in death and/or injury, whether it
be from physical altercations or car accidents. Two deaths have also occurred during the training
process as trainees attempted to fast rope out of a helicopter. The hours are highly unpredictable as
well. When considering this career, one should think realistically. One could imagine that a career
such as this is nothing like what I shown on TV where the team is constantly flying out to catch bad
guys. Although staking out overnight and remaining undercover for years are two likely possibilities,
it is also very likely for agents to not leave the office at all. Long hours behind a desk with all different
types of paperwork are hardly ever portrayed on television shows. Agents often have long days with
long hours with a lot of undercover assignments. All agents are constantly on call. As the FBI says on
its website, This is definitely not a nine to five

The Man Behind the Lines Essay
A man of innovation, style, and creator of labyrinthine masterpieces in all media, Alphonse Mucha is
often named the greatest and most influential Czech artists. As one of the fathers of Art Nouveau,
Mucha developed a reputation with his posters, architecture, jewelry and sculpture that had never been
seen before; a complex weaving of lines and pastel colors featuring voluptuous women and a harmony
that can only be described as: Mucha style. His graphic designs and posters often hold the limelight of
Mucha s ability, but the complexity of his imagination and inspiration show another deep dimension
behind the man, his visions, and his beliefs in art, as well as the world. To begin to know the artist, one
must start at the artist s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He set out to create his own destiny in Vienna building sets for the plays and remained with the
theatre, despite the rollercoaster of hardships and opportunity that proceeded. In 1887, he moved to
Paris from the generosity of Count KhuenBalasi, to study and begin his journey in true art. During this
time Paris was at the beginning of its state of economic recovery from the Franco Prussian war, so the
nation was flourishing and rebuilding with a vibrant optimistic outlook (Mucha S, 11.) Paris,
following the industrial revolution led by Britain, began constructing new inventions, vehicles, and
processes. A prolific example is the monumental building of the Eiffel Tower for the World s Fair. The
world of art was responding to this new boom of wrenches and gears with: Art Nouveau, a highly
stylized and decorative art, framing the importance of organic, botanical, and true form of the objects.
So while the world focused on exact and complicated features, the artists in Paris were simplifying,
making decadence, and flow emerge out of their art. The one who had the most harmony, intensity and
influence in Paris was Mucha. Mucha was fascinated with another Fin de siècle Parisian movement:
allure to the occult or spiritualism. The followers derived their belief in a World Soul from a mash up
of religions including: Buddhism, Jewish Kabala, Brahmanism, Christian mysticism, and

Analyzing The Song What It s Like
Most of us at some point in time, or even multiple times, have asked ourselves if we are using our
time wisely. This can have various meanings. Relating to the collage we completed before hand, my
main focal point was to use lyrics that had the most meaning to me; After picking the quotes I wanted,
I realized that my focus showed how important time is to me. The quotes placed in my college all
seemed to relate to time in my mind. So, in the following lyrics, I found a way to relate them to time
in our life, and tie these songs together in a way they may not have been connected before.
In Everlast s song What It s Like the lyric God forbid you ever have to walk a mile in her shoes; cause
then you might know what it s like can mean a variety of different things. Based on the tone of the
singer s voice and the sound of the song, What It s Like can be considered a depressing song about the
real situations in life. We choose not to think about the brutality that certain individuals have to go
through cause then you might know what it s like according to Everlast. The band chooses to include
these lyrics in the song to show people that we can not understand what a person is going through or
why they choose to pursue a certain action until we know what the individual has gone through.
Because the individuals in What It s Like did not put themselves in Mary s shoes they judged her
immediately on her decision to get an abortion without questioning the reason why she is

Oxycontin Research Paper
OxyContin also known by its generic name Oxycodone is an opioid drug that relieves moderate short
term to severe long term pain (1). It is generally used in palliative care for terminally ill patients in the
hospital (3). The problem with OxyContin is there are many possible side effects such as dizziness,
stomach pain, nausea, constipation, dry mouth, mild itching and loss of appetite, like any drug but
addiction is never mentioned (1). There is a lot of controversy when it comes to OxyContin as it not
only helps patients in the hospital but also helps someones high. OxyContin is continuously being
abused, increasing the total amount of death rates as users continue to look for a rush. OxyContin

brain, this allows the user to stop from feeling any physical pain they may be in. Another short term
effect is it slows down not only the respiratory system but also the central nervous system, allowing
the drowsy effect to take place. The positive effects of OxyContin are often the reason why people
become addicted to the drug. As for long term effects it may include the following, increased levels of
tolerance, reparatory distress, physical dependence on the drug, and death

Do you know what you re passionate about? I think having a strong sense of passion comes naturally.
What really matters is how you channel your passion and what you use it for. With passion, we can
change the world for the better. One thing I know will never change about me is my passion for
animal rights. Since a very young age I can remember having a passion for animal rights. It came
naturally to me. It began with a love for my pets. My family has had pets in the house ever since I was

The Innate Immune System And Pattern Recognition Receptors
The Innate Immune System and Pattern Recognition Receptors The innate immune system, which is
also known as the non specific immune system, is an important component of the immune system that
recognizes and responds to potential pathogens in a generic fashion. In contrast to the adaptive
immune system, the innate immune system does not confer long lasting/protective immunity. The
innate immune system is typically considered the first line of defense and displays the ability to
discriminate against self (host) vs. non self (non host/potential pathogens). In order to recognize non
self molecules the innate immune system utilizes a range of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) to
detect molecules associated with potential pathogens.

The Role Of Male Socialization On Children Essay
Before I was born into this hectic society, I was assigned the specific gender of female based solely on
the genitals I possessed. From then on, I was instructed and socialized by the ones I love and trust how
to dress, love, carry myself, and act amongst others solely based off my gender assignment. My family
was always trying to put me in cute dresses and put all sorts of bows in my hair. I remember them
telling me, You are going to make a man very happy one day, or Just wait till you get married to the
man of your dreams. This type of heterosexual enforcement continued to be encouraged in church and
throughout the media by socializing and teaching me to believe that one day I would find one man that
I would marry and continue to pass on the cycle of heterosexual socialization to my children. Due to
all of this exposure, heterosexuality became natural and thus, normal to me; however, this type of
heterosexual socialization and heteronormativity is often unrealistic to those who desire a different
relationship or family, causing them to feel excluded by a majority of society. This kind of exclusion
has made people realize that this type of socialization is dangerous because it makes those who do not
fit into this idealistic society feel trapped. It is also seen as unnecessary due to the immense amount of
pressure it creates on everyone to live up to society s expectations and is simply inconsistent with
today s diverse social and familial formations that people

materials and designs within the space. I also introduced iconic design elements of international style
such as the marble wall that was showcased in the Barcelona Pavilion design by Mies van der Rohe.
To keep with the growing trend of modernism in the Seattle design market, I introduced the marble
wall as a floating art piece. This feature also further explore the use of visual weightless elements of
The International Style. Additionally, I introduced modern aspects of the space through introduction of
materials such as concrete, steel, metal, and glass. I emphasized and applied the element of line,

design aspects. I added a sense of playfulness through the furniture designs, custom lighting, and

The Importance Of Voter Apathy
The percentage of citizens eligible to vote but who nevertheless opt out is a growing concern in
contemporary America; as of the 2008 presidential election only 64 percent of qualified citizens voted
(Carl, 2013). Such a lack of voting has been termed voter apathy, which is defined as a phenomenon in
which citizens with the right to vote choose not to (Carl, 2013). It is common knowledge that
throughout history minority voters are most often the ones who express this indifference towards
voting in comparison to whites (Carl, 2013). Voter apathy often results from the misguided perception
that one person s vote will not make a difference. A myriad of solutions are available for the
government to implement in order to create a more efficient

Roles Of The Drummer Boys Of The American Revolution
Will Partridge
Drummer Boys of the American Revolution
Drummer Boys played a valuable role in the war. They supported the troops by: 1) completing camp
chores to free the men for more difficult tasks, and 2) They played duty calls and signals to tell the
soldiers what to do during combat and played marching music to boost troop morale. 3) They helped
sustain order and discipline. The drummer boys were from the thirteen colonies. They were often
enlisted by their parents or if they were a slave by their master. Some slaves volunteered so that they
could earn their freedom. The drummer boys also enlisted because they were very patriotic. The age
range of the drummer boys was sixteen to twenty although there younger drummers who were twelve
to fourteen years old.
The drummer boys did camp chores to free the adults for harder work and also did many things adults
did. The boys gathered firewood and chopped wood, guarded prison coastlines guarded prisoners dug
latrines waited on officers slaughtered livestock hauled small wagons built defensive works spied on
enemies carried messages marched for miles foraged for food.
Drums are loud so the soldiers could hear them during battle and they were the way to communicate.
The history of using drums goes back to early, Switzerland. Music was for the morale of the troops.
The average snare drum they used was eight pounds. The drum was eighteen inches deep and the
straps were made of leather. The drumsticks were made of

Queueing Theory In Hospital Management
Applications of queueing theory in hospital management: a literature review
Abstract
This paper reviews the applications and usage of the queueing theory in the aspect of health care
management problems. This paper review presents a way of optimizing the use of hospital resources
in order to improve hospital care. A queueing model is used to determine the main characteristics of
the access of patients to hospital beds, such as mean bed occupancy and the probability that hospital
care demand is lost because all beds are occupied. The aim of this paper review is to provide detailed
information to analysts who are interested in using queueing theory to model a health care process and
want to look into a technique for optimizing the number of beds in order to maintain an acceptable
delay probability at a sufficiently low level.

Analysis Of The Apocalyptic Destruction Of The Human Race
Zombie texts have been a longstanding subgenre of fantasy. Often gory and with elements of horror,
the apocalyptic destruction of the human race brought about by some form of virus is consumed by
many and is reoccurring in popular culture. It is often questioned why we find such enjoyment in a
text that depicts such horrors. The answer is in the role fantasy plays, which is a fulfillment of a wish,
a way to depict our explicit desires in a licit way, and to provide a screen for us to do this. World War
Z (WWZ) adheres to these fantasy elements whilst also highlighting the mediation between duty and
pleasure. The scene that has been selected for analysis is one where hero Gerry Lane is fleeing with
his family up the stairs of an apartment complex to meet the helicopter that is coming to save them, all
whilst fighting off a horde of zombies. This scene is tense, fast paced, and shows our hero fulfilling
his expected role and the desires of the viewers.
The scene begins with Gerry and his family ready to flee to the roof. The shot is filled with flickering
red light, red being a common symbol for danger, whilst the flickering provides uncertainty and fear.
These shots set the scene for the impending horror. Gerry s wife asks him, How do we know they re
coming? to which he replies, They re coming. From the start, Gerry is the all knowing, calm, collected
hero. He is the protector who takes the lead. As the main character, he is the person the audience sees

Cryptosporidium is a microscopic parasite which causes a disease in the human body which in turn
brings on bouts of diarrhoea. The disease is known as cryptosporidiosis. Cryptosporidium is more
commonly known as its abbreviated term of crypto . Cryptosporidium has many sub species all of
which can infect both humans and animals. The parasite has a thick outer shell which is the main
feature of why it is so able to resist certain types of disinfection. This thick outer shell makes it
extremely resistant to chlorine disinfection in particular.

Ernest Hemingway Defeat
Ernest Hemingway
But man is not made for defeat, he said. A man can be destroyed but not defeated. (Hemingway, 29).
This is one of the lines that Ernest Hemingway uses in one of his books, titled, The Old Man and The
Sea. It was published in 1952, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize the following year. The story of an
old fisherman s journey, his long and lonely struggle with a fish and the sea, was considered to be the
most popular of all his works. Fortunately for this well known author, he has many more books,
novels and short stories that his readers enjoy. Ernest Hemingway was born in Oak Park, Illinois on

(during World War I). There, he signed on and became an ambulance driver in Italy. In his non fiction

how rescuers had to collect the shredded fragments of dead people. He was wounded by mortar fire,

Hemingway was only eighteen at the time. He had several wounds on both legs, and had to be

to someone else, which left him heartbroken and devastated. Biographer Jeffrey Meyers claims that
Hemingway was devastated by Agnes rejection, and he followed a pattern of abandoning a wife before
she abandoned him in future relationships. Personally, one might think that there is more to the way
Hemingway was than what a reader may believe.

Personal Narrative-The Language Of The Teufel
Mamusia! Can you come help me with this? I yell boldly for my mom. What is that you just called me

momma does not like it when I speak Polish; in fact she calls it The Language of the Teufel. But I
however, very much enjoy speak in Polish! I have five friends that speak Polish, so I practice as often
as possible. I suddenly feel a hand lash across my smooth cheek. Wulf Pankraz what have I told you
about speaking Polish in this strictly German household? she sounds oddly calm for how furious she
was just a moment ago. It looks like she s about to say something, but she was cut off by our door

Essay on The Use of Steroids in Major League Baseball
The Use of Steroids in Major League Baseball
He walked into his hotel bathroom and cautiously closed the door. Clanging his 60 lb. dumbbell
against the floor, he set his travel bag full of needles on the counter. While filling his syringe with
THG, he began to think about the consequences of his actions; it is a serious problem, but he doesn t
have the willpower to give up the success rewarded from it. As the needle slowly penetrated through
the skin and half way through his muscle, he unloaded the syringe and felt the steroids settle
throughout his leg. He took a deep breath as he removed the needle, letting the last bit of steroids
squirt out of the syringe. Mentally blocking the pain, he began curling his dumbbell to pump the ...

When the steroid scandal heightened and the talk of drug testing began, it is apparent that Giambi got
scared and stopped his steroid problem. When Giambi reported to spring training this year, he came in
with a sunken in face and weighed 20 pounds less, which is an occurrence that happens when an
athlete discontinues his steroid cycle.
Steroids are becoming a huge problem in Major League Baseball. Records in the past, such as the
single season home run record, were set by people who were truly amazing athletes and achieved their
record from hard work and dedication. From 1966 through 1994, two players hit at least 50 or more
home runs. Since 1995, 18 players have reached 50. Roger Maris single season record of 61 home
runs stood for 27 years and has been surpassed six times since 1998. Morals in baseball have been
lost; whatever happened to achieving greatness with the talents God had given them? Now players are
chemically making themselves stronger so that they can make record books, and they are ruining their
bodies as well as the competition to do it. Players now have to start juicin up just to contend with the
competition. The NBA, NFL, NCAA, and Olympics all ban steroids, and it is coming to the day where
baseball needs too as well (Caminiti).
Well, what are steroids? Where did they come from? And how do they make someone so much

Essay On Cultural Identity
Culture identity development is an important part of every life due the emergence of self through
primary and sociocultural contexts (Ecklund, 2016). These stages of development are made up of
either a dominant or a non dominant group and intersectional adaptation. More specifically, cultural
identity is a self construct where individuals share the same culture, which causes them to attribute
themselves to that group (Ecklund, 2016). Being a part of the dominant culture in the United States

Economics in Today s Society
Economics is defined as the study of how the forces of supply and demand allocate scarce resources.
Economics can be subdivided into microeconomics, which examines the behavior of firms, consumers
and the role of government; and macro economics, which looks at inflation, unemployment, industrial
production, and the role of government (Investor Word, 2008). Economics can be further divided to
include positive economics and normative economics. Positive economics is the study of what is, and
how the economy works and normative economics is the study of what the goals of the economy
should be. Simply put positive economics looks at how things such as current gas prices directly affect

A change in anything that affects supply besides price causes a shift on the supply curve. Factors that
affect the supply curve are; price of inputs, technology, expectations, and taxes and subsidies. If a
producer finds that the cost for producing specific items is getting higher than supply of that item will
begin to decrease as it is not economically sound to continue to make a large amount of these items.
Technology has a direct affect on supply, as it becomes easier and less expensive to produce an item
more of that item is produced. As with the demand curve expectation also has an affect on the supply
curve, if consumers expect the cost of a product to increase they will buy more of that items which
causes a decrease of supply. An example of this would be when the price of gas is expected to raise
people will fill their car up and also fill gas containers. Tax also has an effect on the supply curve as it
does on the demand curve, as taxes increase on a specific items then the supply for that particular
items increase as people stop purchasing the item. In an article titled Research focuses on Dining
Pattern, Demographics, it was reported that dining out has declined. This decline is closely related to
housing problems and rising gas prices. The research indicted that the most effected by the economy
problems are the Baby Boomers (ages 43 to 62) research show that these individual tend to reserve

Competitors include BCF, Ray s Outdoor, The North Face, and Columbia. The major threats in the
industry environment are detailed below: The Bargaining Power of Suppliers (Moderate): Most of the
industry s products are sourced and manufactured by a network of third parties. The supplier group is
diluted compared to the industry; KMD alone has over 45 suppliers. There is credible threat of
suppliers adopting forward integration resulting in loss of major suppliers and emergence of new
competitors for the industry. Highly effective and specialised products will pose high supplier
switching costs for industry firms. The Intensity of Rivalry among Competitors in an Industry (High):
Equally balanced competitors exist within the industry such as BCF and KMD; these firms also face
competition from retailers and wholesalers. The growth of the industry is relatively agile in both
financial and technological aspects. The intensity or rivalry is further accentuated by relatively high
storage and fixed rental costs, extensive product differentiation and minimal switching costs. 1.2

Art Based Education
William Bennet, the former US Secretary of Education, claims The arts are an essential element of
education . . . music, dance, painting . . . are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and
accomplishment (ilmea.org, 2016, para 11). The arts are a crucial component to the success of students

experience endure more benefits then those who go throughout school with no exposure to them.
Schools must require creative art programs in the K 12 curricula, because of the academic, emotional,
and social benefits for students.
Discussion
Academic. The most important aspect of school is the academics. What if the arts contributed to the
academic benefits that students experienced? Arsenault (2009) describes how creative art programs
can work alongside school subjects and help benefit the students to prosper through their studies.
Research also shows that an art based learning achieve higher scores on academic tests (Miller,

Economic Benefits of Cuba s Embargo Lift
The United States and Cuba officially cut diplomatic ties in the 1960 s. After the relationship between
the two nations deteriorated as a result of the Cold War, the United States enforced an embargo that
restricted trade to the Caribbean island (Rothman, Why Did the U.S. and Cuba Sever Diplomatic Ties

further affected the island s economy in which American tourism decreased. However, after months of
negotiations, the United States and Cuba have finally decided to restore their diplomatic relations. The

objective of helping formulate the identity of a nation in transition. A nation that has multiple creeds
and cultural diversity but still looking to find its purpose in the world in which it exists in.

Born into poverty and orphaned at a young age, Juarez left his meager surroundings in search of a new
beginning. At the age of twelve, he left the Zapotec village and travelled by foot forty one miles to the
state capital. Encouraged by his sister and a generous Franciscan layman, Juarez sought education in
the form of seminary school where he found this not to be his calling but headed into the field of law.
Juarez passionate side was seen in his efforts to advocate for the poor and needy. His intention to bring
about a form of social equality was his main objective. Not notably successful in his legal campaign to
make the lives of the poor easier, the self effacing attorney now realized that only structural alteration
of the system could affect the changes he envisioned, and his liberalism strengthened. (330)
Juarez relationship with Santa Anna was strained from the beginning. Serving under Santa Anna
during the war with the states, Juarez contempt grew. After the war broke out, Juarez was recalled to
his home state to serve as provisional governor. The eventual defeat led to the exile of Santa Anna
who had sought refuge in Oaxaca where Juarez governed. Juarez refused his proposal and established
his leadership by attitude and example. His leadership may not have been revolutionary; however it
did lead to strong support in his ideals and accomplishments.

Now that I have had this set for a few months, I can say it has met all my expectations. Other
reviewers have commented on the difficulty of cleaning it. I had some trouble in the beginning. It was
mostly due to the fact that this set heats up much faster than I was used to and I had to adjust

William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116
Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare and What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why by
Edna St. Vincent Millay are both sonnets that discuss companionship and a glimpse of the poets
experiences. In Sonnet 116 , Shakespeare illustrates how capability is weakened by its metaphysical
stereotype and ideals such as, love which never seems to wither away according to Shakespeare while
on the contrary, in What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why Millay feeds on the chaos
between the ideal of love and its harsh reality, heartbreak. Both poets seem to be love struck but there
is a significant difference in the two. I will compare and contrast Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare
and What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why by Edna St. Vincent Millay. I will also
inquire and analyze why this particular form of poetry established different effects.
What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why and Sonnet 116 are, in fact, two different
sonnets. What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why is a Petrarchan or Italian sonnet; Due
to the fact, that this sonnet has a rhyme scheme that divides the first eight lines from the last six lines.
By dividing the poem, the rhyme scheme helps to emphasize the theme. The overall theme of the
poem is loss, which occurred in the past. Since the rhyme scheme is divided into two parts; the first
part uses the metaphor of lovers while the second part uses the metaphor of a tree. On the

Early Childhood Field Teachers Do Not Use The Traditional...
In the early childhood field teachers do not use the traditional A to F grading system to provide a valid
measure of where the students are at. When meeting with parent about the progress of their student
educational progress, teachers provide work samples from a portfolio. Within the portfolio there are
pictures of the student completing projects and participating in classroom activities, weekly writing
samples, several self portraits drawn throughout the year, formal assessments done on mathematical
concepts and letter knowledge, dictated stories with drawings and cutting samples. Parents also have
access to teacher observations. During the conference the teacher and parent discusses where the child
is developmentally, emotionally, cognitively and physically in relation to their educational progress
based upon the material in the portfolio and teacher observations.
In the elementary school system letter grades from A to F are what parents and teachers use to
determine where students are at academically. The issue with this grading system, according to
Michael Thomsen, from a 2002 study done by the University of Michigan, found that eighty percent
of students base their self worth on their letter grade. This lack of self worth is linked to poor health,
involvement in criminal behavior, and when entering in the work field they earn a lower wage
(Thomsen, 2013). Student who have low self worth, bad grades, who earn a lower wage feeding into
the cycle of poverty (Thomsen,

He doesn t argue for these drafts of punishment and prevention. The form of appeal is mostly ethos
and in a mild degree logos. 3. There are some conflicting elements, when discussing how society can
prevent similar problems in the future. Cameron expresses in text 1 that he wishes better parenting.
Parents have to set boundaries with the purpose of children knowing the difference between right and
wrong. His promised harsher consequences involving a higher fixing of sentence and tougher police
tactics will maybe have a frightening effect on young people, but will not change their minds, if they
are determined to participate in riots. Prevention costs less than punishment and is both the most
humanitarian and the only sensible solution. It can be very stressful being a teenager with a cut in
youth service spending by the government and increasing expectations and demands by the society.
We need to invest in young people to create a feeling of stability and hope. Through interventions
young people will be motivated and open their eyes to new opportunities. The government can take
inspiration from Denmark, where we demand that young people are occupied with either school or

The first journey for Christopher Columbus to the New World landed him in what we know as present
day Cuba. The Spaniards occupied the island because of the great location and marketable importance
that came about in the eighteenth century. Throughout time, Cuba has been under the control of
dominant countries, such as Spain and the United States. The colonization process has been the
consistent factor in Latin American countries, leaving the colonized without a sense of nationality.

The United States will not just sit back and let Spain destroy its new economic interest. The USS
MAINE was on maneuvers when it exploded in the Havana harbor. This infuriated President
McKinley, which led Congress to declare war on Spain. The Spaniards did not stand a chance against
the U.S. and granted Cuba independence in December of 1898. Cuba had now gained its
independence from Spain, but would remain under the control of the United States government. The
United States built roads, sewer systems, and schools so Cubans could be civilized . The U.S.
government leaders saw nothing contradictory in their presiding over Cuba s emergence as an
independent nation. (Smith p.265) The United States decided that Cuba could not govern itself just
yet, so the U.S. felt it necessary to incorporate the Platt Amendment. This gave the U.S. the right to
literally run the economy, veto international commitments, and intervene in domestic politics of Cuba.
Cuba s first president Tomas Estrada Palma, was like the sidekick to the United States because he
wanted Cuba to be annexed by the U.S. The Nationalist did not approve of Yankee dominance and
kept Jose Marti s dream alive. Palma won a second term by election fraud. The election fraud led to a
revolt, which forced the U.S. military to occupy the island for three years.

  • 2. Andy Warhol Analysis If I could be any artist from the history of art, I would want to be the female version of Andy Warhol. Warhol was a talented artist along with other things such as being a well accredited producer and director. In my opinion, one of Warhol s best works of art is Coca Cola. Although this painting might be ordinary and simple, I think Warhol s reason for creating this art, along with most of his other art, is what made Warhol s art so famous and popular. As Warhol stated himself, I just paint things I always thought were beautiful, things you use every day and never think about ( Andy Warhol ). Warhol turned normal, everyday objects like a Coca Cola bottle into a work of art because he was grateful for the simple things in life due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Warhol did not have the easiest time growing up, yet he was still able to create a successful and memorable life for himself. I think that Warhol and I have a similar outlook on life. I hope that no matter where my life takes me that I can continue to make the most of the littlest things just like Warhol did. If I were an artist like Warhol, my art would be centered around my life and simple objects. Art should be expressive, and what better way to express oneself than to show their life struggles through art. I would also create art that enhances simply, everyday objects. Sometimes the things we tend to overlook are the things that have the most beauty. Not everyone finds beauty in ordinary objects, but that is something that Warhol and I have in common everyday objects can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Project Delivery Process For Solid Waste Management Essay CLIP (Collaboration/Conflict, Legitimacy, Influence, Power) is both a powerful tool and a process for providing insights into the stakeholders of a project. It is especially useful for more complex projects, with a large and diverse range of stakeholders Defining stakeholders in solid waste management We have found evidence that all of the groups described below are important in the project delivery process for solid waste management services. Stakeholders will not always fall into the above categories. In particular, whether a group is classified as secondary or external clearly depends on the specific project objectives. Background Solid waste management involves the storage, collection, transport and disposal of waste which is generated in the home, commercial premises and institutions. Good solid waste management is an important component of a strategy for improving environmental health. In addition to the obvious aesthetic importance of a garbage free living environment, uncollected solid waste rapidly putrefies in tropical climates, creating noxious smells, giving rise to polluting leachates, providing breeding areas for countless flies and, in the wet season, mosquitoes. A particularly important indirect effect is the blocking of drains, which causes local flooding with its associated environmental health risks and economic disbenefits. Understanding how solid waste management works Whose responsibility is it? Municipal corporations and councils are charged with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Arguments Against Indigenous Self Government Prior to contact with Europeans, Indigenous peoples relied on their own established ways of political systems and institutions, in other words, Indigenous peoples were a self governing society. However, many of these political systems were legally suppressed and ignored by the federal government as an attempt to assimilate and civilize Indigenous peoples. The 1876 Indian Act dismantled traditional systems of governance and imposed external controls in the form of local Indian agents and the federal bureaucracy of the Department of Indian Affairs (now Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada) on individuals and communities (Henderson, 2006). Indigenous peoples have been trying to get back the right to govern themselves and preserve their cultural identities since the arrival of Europeans, and in addition, there has been a current and long going debate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Canada has signed 22 self government agreements recognizing a wide range of Aboriginal jurisdictions that involve 36 Aboriginal communities across Canada (Self Government, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, 2015), one example being the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. There are many advantages of recognizing the right to self governance within Indigenous communities, which can be seen throughout the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. One advantage of Indigenous self government, as stated by Canadian Indigenous law expert, John Borrows (2016), is that if Indigenous peoples were recognized as having the right to self governance, they d be able to get away from Indian Act (CBC News). The contemporary version of the Indian Act still outlines various rules around reserves, management of band resources, elections, and other aspects of life on a reserve (Henderson, 2006). However, if Indigenous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Islamic State Of Iraq And The Levant Over the past few years the world has witnessed the rapid emergence of one of the most dangerous and violent terrorist organizations in history. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, better known as ISIL or ISIS and formerly known as al Qaeda in Iraq, is an Islamic extremist group that has caught the attention of the world because of the swift and ferocious way that the group has been able to seize large portions of Iraq and Syria. ISIS has displayed such brutality in its attacks, with mass executions, beheadings, and crucifixions becoming the norm, that even Osama bin Laden, the now deceased founder of the infamous militant Islamic organization, al Qaeda, eventually chose to dissociate from them (Saletan, 2014). Although the Middle East is no stranger to religious extremism and political unrest, the ferocity and speed at which ISIS was able to gain control is unprecedented. As the atrocities of the group s rampage through Iraq and Syria came to light, the world was left scratching its head wondering how ISIS was so quickly able to gain power and control over such a large territory. The answer lies in a look back at the poor decisions made by the Bush Administration after the invasion of Iraq in 2003. It was the desire of the United States to withdraw from Iraq too quickly, their appointment of inept leadership, and a series of careless decisions that allowed ISIS to take advantage of an unstable government left behind by the United States after the Iraq War. • 6. Fidelity, Bravery, And Integrity Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity. That is the motto. On July 26, 1908, U.S. Attorney General Charles Bonaparte ordered a group of newly hired federal investigators to report to Chief Examiner Stanley W. Finch of the Department of Justice. About one year later, the Office of Chief Examiners was renamed the Bureau of Investigators. It later became the Federal Bureau of Investigators in 1935. With headquarters in Washington D.C, the FBI is our prime source of investigative resources and responsible for more than 200 crime categories. In 1870, when the Department of Justice was created to enforce the federal laws and coordinate different policies, there was not a set staff. Private detectives were hired when federal crimes needed to be investigated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The selection process is intimidating. Real life FBI work is much different than the things that may be seen on television. This job requires the ability to stay focused, a high intelligence level, as well as education. Law enforcement is one of the leading careers resulting in death and/or injury, whether it be from physical altercations or car accidents. Two deaths have also occurred during the training process as trainees attempted to fast rope out of a helicopter. The hours are highly unpredictable as well. When considering this career, one should think realistically. One could imagine that a career such as this is nothing like what I shown on TV where the team is constantly flying out to catch bad guys. Although staking out overnight and remaining undercover for years are two likely possibilities, it is also very likely for agents to not leave the office at all. Long hours behind a desk with all different types of paperwork are hardly ever portrayed on television shows. Agents often have long days with long hours with a lot of undercover assignments. All agents are constantly on call. As the FBI says on its website, This is definitely not a nine to five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Man Behind the Lines Essay A man of innovation, style, and creator of labyrinthine masterpieces in all media, Alphonse Mucha is often named the greatest and most influential Czech artists. As one of the fathers of Art Nouveau, Mucha developed a reputation with his posters, architecture, jewelry and sculpture that had never been seen before; a complex weaving of lines and pastel colors featuring voluptuous women and a harmony that can only be described as: Mucha style. His graphic designs and posters often hold the limelight of Mucha s ability, but the complexity of his imagination and inspiration show another deep dimension behind the man, his visions, and his beliefs in art, as well as the world. To begin to know the artist, one must start at the artist s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He set out to create his own destiny in Vienna building sets for the plays and remained with the theatre, despite the rollercoaster of hardships and opportunity that proceeded. In 1887, he moved to Paris from the generosity of Count KhuenBalasi, to study and begin his journey in true art. During this time Paris was at the beginning of its state of economic recovery from the Franco Prussian war, so the nation was flourishing and rebuilding with a vibrant optimistic outlook (Mucha S, 11.) Paris, following the industrial revolution led by Britain, began constructing new inventions, vehicles, and processes. A prolific example is the monumental building of the Eiffel Tower for the World s Fair. The world of art was responding to this new boom of wrenches and gears with: Art Nouveau, a highly stylized and decorative art, framing the importance of organic, botanical, and true form of the objects. So while the world focused on exact and complicated features, the artists in Paris were simplifying, making decadence, and flow emerge out of their art. The one who had the most harmony, intensity and influence in Paris was Mucha. Mucha was fascinated with another Fin de siècle Parisian movement: allure to the occult or spiritualism. The followers derived their belief in a World Soul from a mash up of religions including: Buddhism, Jewish Kabala, Brahmanism, Christian mysticism, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analyzing The Song What It s Like Most of us at some point in time, or even multiple times, have asked ourselves if we are using our time wisely. This can have various meanings. Relating to the collage we completed before hand, my main focal point was to use lyrics that had the most meaning to me; After picking the quotes I wanted, I realized that my focus showed how important time is to me. The quotes placed in my college all seemed to relate to time in my mind. So, in the following lyrics, I found a way to relate them to time in our life, and tie these songs together in a way they may not have been connected before. In Everlast s song What It s Like the lyric God forbid you ever have to walk a mile in her shoes; cause then you might know what it s like can mean a variety of different things. Based on the tone of the singer s voice and the sound of the song, What It s Like can be considered a depressing song about the real situations in life. We choose not to think about the brutality that certain individuals have to go through cause then you might know what it s like according to Everlast. The band chooses to include these lyrics in the song to show people that we can not understand what a person is going through or why they choose to pursue a certain action until we know what the individual has gone through. The innate immune system is typically considered the first line of defense and displays the ability to discriminate against self (host) vs. non self (non host/potential pathogens). • 12. The Role Of Male Socialization On Children Essay Before I was born into this hectic society, I was assigned the specific gender of female based solely on the genitals I possessed. From then on, I was instructed and socialized by the ones I love and trust how to dress, love, carry myself, and act amongst others solely based off my gender assignment. My family was always trying to put me in cute dresses and put all sorts of bows in my hair. I remember them telling me, You are going to make a man very happy one day, or Just wait till you get married to the man of your dreams. This type of heterosexual enforcement continued to be encouraged in church and throughout the media by socializing and teaching me to believe that one day I would find one man that I would marry and continue to pass on the cycle of heterosexual socialization to my children. Due to all of this exposure, heterosexuality became natural and thus, normal to me; however, this type of heterosexual socialization and heteronormativity is often unrealistic to those who desire a different relationship or family, causing them to feel excluded by a majority of society. This kind of exclusion has made people realize that this type of socialization is dangerous because it makes those who do not fit into this idealistic society feel trapped. It is also seen as unnecessary due to the immense amount of pressure it creates on everyone to live up to society s expectations and is simply inconsistent with today s diverse social and familial formations that people ... • 18. Analysis Of The Apocalyptic Destruction Of The Human Race Zombie texts have been a longstanding subgenre of fantasy. Often gory and with elements of horror, the apocalyptic destruction of the human race brought about by some form of virus is consumed by many and is reoccurring in popular culture. It is often questioned why we find such enjoyment in a text that depicts such horrors. The answer is in the role fantasy plays, which is a fulfillment of a wish, a way to depict our explicit desires in a licit way, and to provide a screen for us to do this. World War Z (WWZ) adheres to these fantasy elements whilst also highlighting the mediation between duty and pleasure. The scene that has been selected for analysis is one where hero Gerry Lane is fleeing with his family up the stairs of an apartment complex to meet the helicopter that is coming to save them, all whilst fighting off a horde of zombies. This scene is tense, fast paced, and shows our hero fulfilling his expected role and the desires of the viewers. The scene begins with Gerry and his family ready to flee to the roof. The shot is filled with flickering red light, red being a common symbol for danger, whilst the flickering provides uncertainty and fear. These shots set the scene for the impending horror. Gerry s wife asks him, How do we know they re coming? to which he replies, They re coming. From the start, Gerry is the all knowing, calm, collected hero. He is the protector who takes the lead. Born into poverty and orphaned at a young age, Juarez left his meager surroundings in search of a new beginning. At the age of twelve, he left the Zapotec village and travelled by foot forty one miles to the state capital. Encouraged by his sister and a generous Franciscan layman, Juarez sought education in the form of seminary school where he found this not to be his calling but headed into the field of law. Juarez passionate side was seen in his efforts to advocate for the poor and needy. His intention to bring about a form of social equality was his main objective. Not notably successful in his legal campaign to make the lives of the poor easier, the self effacing attorney now realized that only structural alteration of the system could affect the changes he envisioned, and his liberalism strengthened. After the war broke out, Juarez was recalled to his home state to serve as provisional governor. The eventual defeat led to the exile of Santa Anna who had sought refuge in Oaxaca where Juarez governed. Juarez refused his proposal and established his leadership by attitude and example. • 36. William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare and What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why by Edna St. Vincent Millay are both sonnets that discuss companionship and a glimpse of the poets experiences. In Sonnet 116 , Shakespeare illustrates how capability is weakened by its metaphysical stereotype and ideals such as, love which never seems to wither away according to Shakespeare while on the contrary, in What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why Millay feeds on the chaos between the ideal of love and its harsh reality, heartbreak. Both poets seem to be love struck but there is a significant difference in the two. I will compare and contrast Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare and What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why by Edna St. Vincent Millay. I will also inquire and analyze why this particular form of poetry established different effects. What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why and Sonnet 116 are, in fact, two different sonnets. What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why is a Petrarchan or Italian sonnet; Due to the fact, that this sonnet has a rhyme scheme that divides the first eight lines from the last six lines. By dividing the poem, the rhyme scheme helps to emphasize the theme. The overall theme of the poem is loss, which occurred in the past. Since the rhyme scheme is divided into two parts; the first part uses the metaphor of lovers while the second part uses the metaphor of a tree. On the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Early Childhood Field Teachers Do Not Use The Traditional... In the early childhood field teachers do not use the traditional A to F grading system to provide a valid measure of where the students are at. When meeting with parent about the progress of their student educational progress, teachers provide work samples from a portfolio. Within the portfolio there are pictures of the student completing projects and participating in classroom activities, weekly writing samples, several self portraits drawn throughout the year, formal assessments done on mathematical concepts and letter knowledge, dictated stories with drawings and cutting samples. Parents also have access to teacher observations. During the conference the teacher and parent discusses where the child is developmentally, emotionally, cognitively and physically in relation to their educational progress based upon the material in the portfolio and teacher observations. In the elementary school system letter grades from A to F are what parents and teachers use to determine where students are at academically. The issue with this grading system, according to Michael Thomsen, from a 2002 study done by the University of Michigan, found that eighty percent of students base their self worth on their letter grade. This lack of self worth is linked to poor health, involvement in criminal behavior, and when entering in the work field they earn a lower wage (Thomsen, 2013). Student who have low self worth, bad grades, who earn a lower wage feeding into the cycle of poverty (Thomsen, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are some conflicting elements, when discussing how society can prevent similar problems in the future. Cameron expresses in text 1 that he wishes better parenting. Parents have to set boundaries with the purpose of children knowing the difference between right and wrong. His promised harsher consequences involving a higher fixing of sentence and tougher police tactics will maybe have a frightening effect on young people, but will not change their minds, if they are determined to participate in riots. Prevention costs less than punishment and is both the most humanitarian and the only sensible solution. The Spaniards occupied the island because of the great location and marketable importance that came about in the eighteenth century. Throughout time, Cuba has been under the control of dominant countries, such as Spain and the United States. The colonization process has been the consistent factor in Latin American countries, leaving the colonized without a sense of nationality. The United States will not just sit back and let Spain destroy its new economic interest. The USS MAINE was on maneuvers when it exploded in the Havana harbor. This infuriated President McKinley, which led Congress to declare war on Spain. The Spaniards did not stand a chance against the U.S. and granted Cuba independence in December of 1898. Cuba had now gained its independence from Spain, but would remain under the control of the United States government. The United States built roads, sewer systems, and schools so Cubans could be civilized . The U.S. government leaders saw nothing contradictory in their presiding over Cuba s emergence as an independent nation. (Smith p.265) The United States decided that Cuba could not govern itself just yet, so the U.S. felt it necessary to incorporate the Platt Amendment. This gave the U.S. the right to literally run the economy, veto international commitments, and intervene in domestic politics of Cuba.
