Created to support this document is a self assessment tool for each Emergency Model of Care. The
purpose of the tool is to allow Local Health Districts to assess if a MOC is appropriate for their ED or
if an implemented MOC is functioning to its utmost potential. The tool is intended to be used at an ED
level in a collaborative approach with all key stakeholders. The Self Assessment tool rates the
effectiveness of each model. Results of the self assessment are then linked to responses based on the
key principles described for each MOC. A robust evaluation of each model can be used to generate an
action plan for an ED to improve the functioning of current Models of Care being used, or to consider
the implementation of new models. Assess the current Models of Care in their Emergency
Departments using the given criteria It is recognised that not all of the Models of Emergency Care are
applicable for all NSW Emergency Departments. Decisions to implement them will be made based on
the staff, patient presentations and space available in the ED to operate each model. Assess the

The 2009 Shooting at Ft. Hood On November 5th, 2009 Major Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire on the
Ft. Hood Army base killing 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounding 43 others (Blake, 2013). Major
Hasan had become self radicalized and some feel was pushed to the point of carrying out this heinous
act by his upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. His shooting spree was brought to an end after he
was shot by base security, wounded but not martyred. He received a military trial and was convicted

Kamehameha V
Thesis Paper Who would you pick for your top 5 ali i in Hawaiian History? Would Kamehameha V be
on there? I most certainly think Kamehameha should be on that list. He left schooling at the age of 18
to work in the government office building and he was the last of the Kamehameha s to rule.
Kamehameha V was the second best ruler behind Kamehameha the great because he had to overcome
a lot, tried to follow exactly the way his grandfather ruled, and worked extremely hard for things he
thought were right for his people. When Prince Lot and Princess Pauhi were children they were
expected to marry each other. At the age of 16, Pauhi didn t want to get married to Prince Lot because
she was in love with Charles Reed Bishop. The two later on got married and Prince Lot never found
love. On December 11, 1830 a prince by the name of Lota Kapuaiwa Kalanimauka Ali iolani

They went and met presidents and talked with other members of royalty, what it was like to run a
society, and to prepare them for their future roles as leaders. This is just one example of what
Kamehameha V did to show his people that he was willing to learn from other kings to see what he
should do for his people. Another thing that Lot did was raise the Sugar Industry. You might think of
that as bad but at the time people were getting destroyed by the incoming people so Kamehameha V
helped to bring up the sugar industry to help them bring in goods from other parts of the world. But
the biggest way he helped his people was by sending people with leprosy to the island of Molokai. He
saved a lot of Hawaiian lives by sending only the sick to Molokai. This was extremely smart because
Hawaiians were not adapted to the new diseases that the foreigners brought. His one idea is still used
today, people with leprosy go to Molokai to get treatment or to help people that have

Swot Analysis Obamacare
On Monday, with all eyes squarely focused on the Iowa caucuses, the House and Senate were in
session. That s a good thing because this Congress has its work cut out for it, with only 81 legislative
days remaining on the House Calendar from February 5th to October 1, 2016 they must grapple with
clearing the Fiscal Year 2017 Budget and Appropriations bills, grapple with various attempts to
undermine the ACA, tax reform issues, and more. Just Tuesday the House continued its attacks on
Obamacare, through a longshot attempt to override the President s veto of a bill that would have
undone the hallmark law and defund Planned Parenthood. The 241 186 vote to override the veto fell
short of the two thirds needed, meaning that the President s health ... Show more content on

Should the Freedom Caucus hold firm on lower spending levels they are likely to derail their party s
plans to build consensus and demonstrate effective leadership in an election year. Aside from setting
appropriations deadlines, this week the House passed the Housing Opportunity Through
Modernization Act of 2015 (H.R. 3700) a proactive bill to extend affordable housing to more low
income families. The bipartisan measure received nearly unanimous support with 427 votes in favor
also included an amendment by Representatives David Price (D NC) and Robert Aderholt (R AL) to
modernize the HOPWA formula by counting people living with HIV rather than cumulative AIDS
cases. While there is work to be done, such as building on and preserving the increases achieved in the
FY 16 budget, and advancing the HOPWA language through the Senate, there is a lesson to be learned
from this week; even in a Congress as divided as the 114th, there are victories to be had and common
ground to be forged. As advocates, we must hold each other and our legislators accountable. That
means making our voices heard, including writing and calling out members of congress and letting
them know how the dollars that they allocate through the appropriations process affect their
constituents on the ground and the that political gamesmanship in setting funding allocations affect

Tobacco Smoking In Arlington Texas
Most smokers, if not all of them, are aware of the health implications of their habit. There is a reason
tobacco smoking is considered an addiction. Yet in spite of an understanding of the short and long
term consequences of tobacco use and the clamping down of the law on smokers, a significant
percentage of the population still lights up every day. Most smokers, when asked, say they want to
kick the habit, and have tried to on several occasions. But these attempts have been in vain. If this

Voice In The Phantom Of The Opera
In the play, the Phantom of the Opera, the actors show expression through their voice (lyrical and
vocal aspects), and physical actions towards each other. The Phantom s voice uses his voice to his
advantage in the play. First, instead of singing the whole thing, he expresses and brings out words in
the form of whispering, a casual talking voice, or shouting them. Lyrically, the Phantom expresses his
longing for Christine by choosing meaningful words that would persuade her to join him.
Furthermore, in the play, the interactions between the actors show expression. An example of their
interaction is that Christine doesn t fully acknowledge the Phantom, expressing that there are
boundaries between them that shouldn t be crossed. Similarly, in

Manipulation In Shakespeare s Othello
Otello takes Shakespeare s Othello and turns it into an Italian Opera. While the two are similar in
many ways, it is their differences that set them apart and enhance the meaning of the play. Otello
begins in Cyprus at the end of the defeat of the Turks, and the beginning of Iago s plot to destroy
Othello. During the celebration of Othello s return, Cassio sings his praises for Desdemona, and seems
to begin to arouse Othello s suspicions early on. Iago s plan to ruin Othello and Desdemona s marriage
and tarnish Cassio s reputation continues seamlessly through his manipulation of Othello s thoughts.
He points him towards Cassio and Desdemona s more flirtatious behaviors during the feast, quickly
angering him. Iago lacks the subtlety that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effects of every character s actions come full circle, and are slightly different from Shakespeare s
original ending. Instead of allowing Iago to merely become a prisoner to be tortured later, Othello
takes out his anger on him and murders him. Iago is unable to survive because of his evil deeds and
his effective manipulation of Othello. In some ways, he brought about his own demise by doing too
well in his manipulation of his enemy. He enraged Othello so much that he felt compelled to enact his
revenge by killing Iago, who brought about his mental destruction in the first place. This alternative
ending illustrates the power of rage over one s mind and body, and places emphasis on the immorality
of Iago s manipulations. Iago is not the only one who suffers from the consequences of Othello s loss
of sanity. Desdemona s death is much more brutal than it had been originally. Instead of suffocating
his wife in bed, Othello violently strangles Desdemona to death, and he doesn t attempt to talk himself
out of ending her life like he does in Othello. Othello s actions are much more deliberate and merciless
as a direct result of his domination by jealousy.
Overall, Otello illustrates more plainly the destructive qualities of various emotions while Othello tells
a story of jealousy and betrayal while addressing issues of racism and sexism. This film enhanced my
understanding of the emotions felt by the characters and the impact of these emotions both mentally
and physically on both the individual and those around them. However, the film lacks the political
commentary and overall meaning that Othello holds. In the end, the film and book are best in
conjunction to bring out the strengths in

Martin Luther, And His Concept Of Christianity
This is an essay about Martin Luther, and his concept of Christianity. As a student and a unbiased
Christian, I enjoy studying all types of religions, and elements that encompass them. Luther began his
religious career as an Augustinian Monk in the Roman Catholic Church. So, Luther was initially loyal
to the papacy, and even after many theological conflicts, he attempted to bring about his understanding
with the Church. But this was a contradiction not to suffer because in his later years, Luther waged a
continual battle with the papacy. Luther was to become a professor of biblical exegesis at Wittenberg
where, in 1957, he posted his critique of the Roman Catholic Church s teachings and practices. This is
otherwise known as The Ninety Five Theses, which is usually considered to be the original document
of the Reformation. The Reformation was very controversial then, and, from a historical viewpoint, it
still is today. Luther played a large part in the movement, and I was interested I doing a research to
uncover what was the issue with religion. Basically, this document was an indictment of the venality
of the Roman Catholic Church, particularly the widespread practice of selling indulgences in
association with the sacrament of penance. Luther s beliefs on the matter were that after confession,
absolution relied upon the sinner s faith and God s Divine Grace rather than the intervention of a
priest. Martin Luther was a man that made a huge impact not only on those in

D. Salinger s The Catcher s The Rye
J. D. Salinger s novel is often called, . . . the forbidden fruit in the garden of literature ( The Catcher
116). J. D. Salinger is a writer from the 1950s, a time where literature has questioned the ideas of
traditions placed in a community. Through his life and through his characters Holden Caulfield and
Phoebe Caulfield in the 1950s realistic fictional bildungsroman The Catcher in the Rye, the
postmodernist author J. D. Salinger focuses on the theme of self isolation in society in order to create
independent opinions. J.D. Salinger was born on January 1, 1919, in New York City. He was raised in
a wealthy family and used his financial background as an inspiration for Holden Caulfield in The
Catcher in the Rye ( The Catcher 117). Also throughout the novel, he showed his conflicting religious
view points because Salinger s father Sol Salinger was a Jewish ham and cheese importer, and his
mother Miriam Jillich Salinger was an Irish Christian (Blackstock 1,798). Salinger also had an older
sister named Doris (Miller 551). Even though Salinger had a rich family, he did not have a stable
educational experience. Early in life, he had a public school education (Blackstock 1,798). Later, he
flunked out of numerous prep schools, one including the famous McBurney School ( The Catcher
117). He ended up going to Valley Forge Military Academy in 1934, wrote his first stories as a
yearbook editor, graduated in 1936, and later used the school to become the model for

Moreover, he believes that in terms of the physiological nature or location of this organ, only that it is

But it is not an easy job to discover the exact place of the cognitive sense organ in the cortex which is
actually a jungle of about ten thousand million nerve cells.
The sixth sense is demonstrated in all the progression and inventions of human civilizations.
Sometimes, the inventions springs suddenly but after a long trials and sufferings; so that the inventor
attains his goal at once as if a sudden inspiration had illuminated his researches. The poets called this
inspiration an intuition and the sophists regarded it a heavenly discovery and unidentified suggestion.
Laurent, a French philosopher said that the inventor is an intuitive poet and Claude Bernard had also
revealed this special sense and this intuitive discovery in the creative scientific achievements. The
characteristics of memories and thoughts serve as a stimulus for the cognitive sense organ which
helped humans to exploit their abilities throughout ages. To invent tools and to develop the use of
language in order to ease their life and to cope with the variable circumstances. (Disney, 1954, p.327

Catherine Earnshaw Essay
As represented in Catherine Earnshaw s early characterization, the social and cultural ideals of the
time period are heavily reinforced through Catherine s defiant individualism and love for the initially
lowly Heathcliff, which contrasts with the civility and propriety of the people around her. Despite
being set solely in the Yorkshire Moors in England, the delicate social hierarchy of class is clearly
seen in the residents of both Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, in which Wuthering Heights
lacks the class, refinement, and civilization of the latter. Despite the era s social expectations of
women as submissive and demure individuals expected to marry into a wealthy family, Catherine
rejects these very standards through her fierce love for Heathcliff ... Show more content on

With this description, Catherine emphasizes the social values of the eighteenth century through her
willingness to defy authority and reason, pitting her against the strict societal expectations of the era.
However, the exposure of Catherine to Thrushcross Grange as she stays at the manor to recover from
the injury to her ankle, prompts a transformation in her romanticist character that openly explores the
cultural values of the Yorkshire Manors. The civility of the Lintons in Thrushcross Grange transforms
the once defiant and youthful Catherine into a mature and well groomed lady that develops an internal
conflict between her love for the well mannered and wealthy Edgar Linton and the lowly Heathcliff.
In Brontë s novel, Catherine emphasizes her characterization in a scene where she laments this
internal conflict saying, I ve no more business to marry Edgar Linton than I have to be in heaven; and
if the wicked man in there had not brought Heathcliff so low, I shouldn t have thought of it. It would
degrade me to marry Heathcliff now; so he shall never know how I love him (Brontë

Accidents on the road happen daily. Reducing the likelihood of an accident requires the enforcement
of necessary traffic laws and the use of appropriate safety measures. On occasion, however, certain
safety measures are not taken or enforced when they should be. One such place that has great need for
such measures is the intersection of Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave in Shalimar Florida. The Eglin Pkwy

Medicine And Placebos Pills Treat Migraine Headaches
Placebos are used as a form of treatment for patients; placebos offer no medication but seem to relieve
patents of the pain and symptoms they have (Seymour, 2011). Medication has down sides, such as
creating drug dependencies and increased tolerance for the drug resulting in a decrease in the amount
of success that drug has to treat the pain. Placebos offer a medicine free treatment to help patients deal
with pain. Many studies have been done to examine the difference between medicine and placebos
pills to treat migraine headaches. Placebos have been found to have similar pain relieving effects to
medicine, without the harmful risks the medication has (Seymour, 2011). Title
Placebos were first introduced into the medical world in the late 18th century (Seymour, 2011).
Placebos are used as a therapeutic procedure that affects a patient and removes symptoms of an illness
or pain by giving them a sham pill with no actual medication in it (Seymour, 2011). A placebo effect is
therefore a change in the patient s symptoms or illness after a placebo is given (Seymour, 2011). A
nocebo on the other hand, is the negative equivalent of the placebo effect; when a patient expects a
negative outcome of a treatment he or she will experience the undesirable outcome that was expected
(Benedetti, Durando, Vighetti, 2014). Both placebo and nocebo effects can be provoked by observing
others, which causes the release of several neurotransmitters, such as opioid, endocannabinoids and

The Negative Effects Of European Colonialism In Africa
Why is Africa so much less developed than the other countries all around the world? It has been
scientifically proven that all ethnic groups all over the world have similar physical abilities. European
colonialism stopped Africa from developing into a strong and mighty continent. In the 18th and 19th
century, the massive colonisation of Africa by the European forces began. Europeans were looking for
a new trade route because they wanted to avoid paying expensive taxes while trading with the East
(Causes of the Scramble for Africa, African History). The European Colonialism in Africa had a
negative effect, and it has been proven by several reasons. One, resources and money from Africa was
taken to Europe by the European colonists. Two, Africans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The European Colonialism in Africa had a critical effect on the number of ethnic groups and tribes (
The Scramble of Africa ). In the 1800 s, Africa had over 7400 tribes (Tribal Groups of Africa). The
number of tribes today in Africa is only about 3000 ( African Tribe List ). This proves that the
European Colonialism in Africa had a huge impact on the number of tribes. The loss of tribes caused
the native Africans to lose their traditions and cultures, such as their own language and belief. Also,
European colonialism in Africa brought Christianity to Africa. The Africans were forced to forget their
traditional religion they ve been following for a long time. The Europeans forced the Africans into
believing in Christianity (Jennifer Mueller). These weren t the only factors how the European
colonists took away the Africans culture and traditions. Having a national language as a nation is one
of the most critical factor of keeping their own culture. However, some of the native Africans were
also forced to stop using their national languages. The loss of national languages caused lots of
different parts of Africa to lose their own tradition. European colonialism in Africa was negative not
only because of the loss of culture and tradition, but also the lack of freedom granted to the native

A Prostitute A Servant And A Latina In Humanities Chapter...
Living as a latina in the United States of America is tough. Racial stereotypes follow minorities
everywhere they go, even in the classroom. The average American has a typical image of what a
professor should look like. What should they look like? These perceived images should not exist
because professors could come from all around the world. In A Prostitute, A servant, and a Customer
Service Representative: A Latina In Academia , professor in the department of Critical Culture,
Gender, and Race studies, Carmen R. Lugo Lugo, uses emotional appeals and language to inform and
create awareness of social and racial stereotypes, as well as how profiting is a priority amongst
universities. Throughout the essay, Lugo Lugo wants one to become informed on prevalent issues in
the average college classroom by allowing the reader to appeal to her through emotions. She uses
personal stories and thoughts on college profiting accordingly to portray the issue amongst her
classroom. As she mentions in her essay, That is why my position within both U.S. society and
academia is an important component of this discussion, a position that is described something like
this: I am a women. A woman who is of color. A woman of color who is a Puerto Rican (which means
I am viewed as a latina). And those markers mean something at the beginning of the twenty first
century in and outside the U.S. academy. As identities, they inform the way I position myself in

The growth of handicraft in society was the sign of the cultivation of sensibility and the string and

As specified by Mahavir Jha (1979) in his book Agra and Fatehpur Sikri that the skilled artisans of
Agra are still creating exclusive and distinctive products as they used to produce decades ago. The

The Option of Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removing is a worth considering option for those who are tired of shaving, waxing, or
tweezing for the removal of unwanted hair. It is one of the most common procedures done for
removing hair in the United States.
The procedure of hair removal is done by beaming highly concentrated light into the follicles of hair.
This light is then absorbed by the pigments in the follicles and destroys the hair. This procedure
became commercial in the mid 1990 s and before this; it had been performed experimentally for about
20 years. In 1998 the Massachusetts General Hospital published the first article describing laser hair
removal. Now a day the usefulness of laser hair treatment is accepted generally in the community of
dermatology and is practiced widely in clinics. People even use this method in homes with the help of
devices priced and designed for self treatment. The equipment used for laser is first adjusted according
to the thickness, color and location of that particular body part.
Laser hair removal is mostly used for removing hair from the underarms, legs, face, bikini line and
other areas.
Benefits of Laser Hair Removal:
The benefits of laser hair removal are:
1) It removes hair only from the selected area without damaging the surrounding areas.
2) It can remove the coarse hair that are generally difficult to remove and painful as well.
3) The speed of removing hair from this procedure is extremely high than any other hair removal
procedure.

Essay on Analysis of Alice Munro s How I Met My Husband
Analysis of Alice Munro s How I Met My Husband
All of it is clear to a person who has understanding and right to those who have acquired knowledge.
(Proverbs 8:6 9)
Alice Munro gives a good example of the meaning of this in her story How I Met My Husband . The
theme of this story is under certain circumstances people can sometimes be blind to the truth.
The main character, Edie, provides the narration of the story from a first person point of view. She
tells her story based on an event from her past. Because she narrates the story the reader is unable to
be sure if what she tells of the other characters is completely accurate. Because one does not hear
other character s thoughts one could question whether Edie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She was very responsible for her age because she took care of the Peebleses two children and of their
house. Yet, she was uneducated and did not know much about love or boys. She told of how she
longed for a boyfriend or someone to kiss. Sometimes when you want things bad enough you begin to
believe they are true. For example, because Edie really wanted someone to love her, she really
believed Chris would send her a letter. However, if she would have examined his prior actions, like
how he treated Alice, Edie could have come to the conclusion that there would be no letter.
Another character important in the story was Chris. He was a soldier in the war. Supposedly, he was
engaged to Alice but from the way he treated her, one would question it. Also, he was cowardly
because he ran away from her rather than telling her how he truly felt, he said, ...A plane can get
further than a car . Also, the reader may believe he is running away from his feelings because of
something deeper. Maybe the war had injured him emotionally or mentally. These factors will
definitely make it hard to discover what is true.
Also, the character of Alice has some interesting meaning to the story. The character of Alice may be
modeled after the author Alice Munro because they have shared similar experiences between men.
Apparently, the author had been through a divorce and many of the

Essay Envirofit International Case Study
The team needed to make decisions about an appropriate business model that would allow the venture
to meet the team s desire for a triple bottom line impact, scalability, and financial sustainability. In my
opinion, they need a hybrid business model.
Just like creating a suitable technology for that third world, the style of a business design must
consider such constraints. Three primary constraints led the development from the business design.
First, the business design required to provide the package towards the user in a minimal cost, but still
provide incentives for forprofit providers, marketers, and installation centers. This constraint needed

It can possibly possess an advantageous effect in encouraging the introduction of business micro
businesses during these nations, like the installation garages.
What s the key is that EnviroFit only requires enough margins to cover operations and future research
and development, not a return to investors. This difference allows the model to work in the developing
world for a project that requires several years of technology development and produces a relatively
low profit margin. So I think the company should reinforced the model by: (1) settling favorable
prices from providers who ve lower marginal costs on existing components and a desire for taking part
within an eco positive business chance, (2) dealing with local providers on numerous components, (3)
forgoing returns in technology development and accepting lower operating margins for everyone the
forex market, (4) using concern for global environment risks within the planet to assist fund solutions
within the third world, and (5) benefiting from emerging global pollutants buying and selling
programs.
This business design might be useful for Envirofit company that don t has the income necessary to
ensure it is appealing to a conventional for profit model and disseminate these to the third world,
where it s most needed.

Big Bang Theory Or A Big Fabrication
Adair Day
AP English IV
Mrs. Britt Collins
14 March 2016
Big Bang Theory or a Big Fabrication The concept of creation has boggled human s minds for
centuries. Human nature has an intuitive sense of longing for an answer to solve the unknown, and
creation embodies the concept of unknown. In an effort to compile reason and scientific knowledge,
an explanation of the formation of the universe was formed and is widely known as The Big Bang
Theory. The Big Bang Theory is considered, ...the leading scientific explanation for the formation of
the universe (Howell). The Big Bang Theory articulates that before this event there was nothing; and
after it there was something. This suggestion to how the universe was created was originally born
from the sighting that the surrounding galaxies are moving away from our own at an immense speed
as if they had been propelled by some force (Howell). The standard theory states that the entire
universe originated as a condensed, infinitely pressured, singularity, which defies the laws of today s
understanding of physics. It is a misconception this event occurred as an explosion; rather it resembled
more of an expansion. At one moment there was nothing in existence and in the following, the
universe expanded as a balloon would, from a sub atomic particle, to all that it is today. This notion of
how the universe was created, is nothing more than a shot into the dark, literally, and holds no validity.
At this exact moment there are roughly 100,000

the Fourth Amendment. Id. at 536. Seizures based on mistakes of fact may be reasonable. Id. at 532.
All parties agree that to justify this type of seizure, officers need only reasonable suspicion that is, a
particularized and objective basis for suspecting the particular person stopped of breaking the law. To
be reasonable is not to be perfect, and so the Fourth Amendment allows for some mistakes on the part
of government officials, giving them fair leeway for enforcing the law in the community s protection.
Reasonable suspicion arises from the combination of an officer s understanding of the facts and his
understanding of the relevant law. Id. at 536. Courts do not examine the subjective understanding of
the particular officer involved. The Fourth Amendment tolerates mistakes and preserves probable
cause if those mistakes whether of fact or of law [are] objectively reasonable. Id.

Superficial Thrombophlebothrombois
As it was defined in Oxford Concise Medical Dictionary, phlebothrombosis is an obstruction of a vein
by a blood clot, without preceding inflammation of its wall. It is most common within the deep veins
of the calf of the leg deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in contrast to thrombophlebitis, which affects
superficial leg veins. Prolonged immobility, heart failure, pregnancy, injury, and surgery predispose to
thrombosis by encouraging sluggish blood flow. Many of these conditions are associated with changes
in the clotting factors in the blood that increase the tendency to thrombosis; these changes also occur
in some women taking oral contraceptives. The affected leg may become swollen and tender. The

Electing A New Chief Essay
Why would you go through the trouble of electing a new chief when you can just stick with me,
Ralph? Why would you risk people having new conflicts that were not existing before? Why would
you (rhetorical question) change the entire system of things when everything is working? I am not
sure why anyone would want to elect a new chief when you have a perfect contender right in front of
you. In the past, I might have gotten a bit carried away with the fact that we were going to be rescued,
but now I have come to reality and have better plans for us. I have both the mental abilities as well as
physical abilities, which make me the best candidate for chief. I am the best candidate for chief

Strategies for translating and interpreting cultural words related to ecology and material culture
As you may know, translation and interpretation are a kind of activity which inevitably involves at
least two languages and two cultural traditions. As this statement implies, translators and interpreters
are permanently faced with the problem of how to treat the culture aspects implicit in a source text and
of finding the most appropriate technique of successfully conveying these aspects in the target
language. These problems may vary in scope depending on the cultural and linguistic gap between the
two (or more) languages concerned. It is possible said that cultural words is one of the problems

What is the original author trying to communicate in that particular context? Sometimes the author is

There will also be times when the meaning of the word itself is not as important as the effect which
the author is trying to create. The translator will want to find a way to express the important meaning
components of the word and phrase; that is, the ones which are in focus in the context. THING AND
EVENT can be looked at from the perspective of the form of the THING or EVENT, or from the
perspective of its function. Look at the examples and their translation versions.

Nature Is A Product Of The Earth
Coastlines have always been something of interest throughout human history. We have built homes,
parks and even cities along them, but at what cost? Coastlines are not found in nature; they are
products of human initiative... (Gillis 99). This quote said by John R. Gillis brings up a very important
discussion. Are coastlines found in nature or have they been built into something we as humans
wanted them to be? When the quote is first read, it may be easy to say of course coastlines exist in
nature because they are nature. Although, when looking at it deeper one must ask what is the
definition of nature. Nature is defined as the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the
landscape, and other features and products of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without those piles and bulkheads those houses would not be able to be there. Which is an example of
changing nature to support the want we have to live on the coast. This was seen also in San Francisco
in the mid 1800 s.
The gold rush hit San Francisco in 1849 and in two years the town of 1,000 people turned into a large
coastal city of 25,000 people. The land behind the bay was mountains and was not a good fit for
expanding the city so they built near the shore. As the city grew throughout the years a need for more
land increased. They began to build into the bay and actual changed the outline of the coast entirely.
They used the steam paddy to fill in large areas of the San Francisco s coast. As they began to make
land and build on it numerous problems began to be discovered. Besides physically changing the
entire shoreline of San Francisco, it created man traps that were uneven fillings of land that would
sink when people stepped on them, it also created seismic hazards, which was seen by the 1906
Earthquake, and fire hazards, which was also seen by the Great Fire of 1851 (Dyl Lecture). This is a
perfect example of a coast being a product of human initiative. As the need for land increased along
the coast we as people had no problem changing the coast. J.D. Stillman was quoted in the Overland
Monthly in 1868 saying Men, in their

Women and the 1st Century Jesus Movement Essay
There are no known writings that chronicle the life of Jesus or his teachings during his lifetime; rather
there is an accumulation of written sources that arose decades after his death (Seat 8/25). Originally,
Jesus teachings were passed down orally, but eventually, Christians began to write down the oral
traditions decades later after his death, specifically after the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70CE
(Seat 8/25). As a result, it is important to note that there is a time discrepancy. Jesus died in 30 CE, but
it was not until 70CE that Christians began to write down his teachings; therefore, this time difference
has led to different interpretations of his teachings (Seat 9/1). As highlighted by Barbara MacHaffe it

These women followed him, and ministered to him in Galilee (NRSV, Mark 15: 40 41). Thurston
explains that to follow is a technical term for discipleship throughout the Gospel and she also explains
that ministered is best translated to provided or served (Thurston 69). Therefore, Jesus male disciples
followed him and were expected to minister, actions which were also carried out by the women as
depicted in the Gospel of Mark (i.e. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, etc). From
this explanation, one can conclude that women in the 1st century Jesus movement assisted Jesus in his
mission to spread Christianity.
It is also important to note, that the women in the Gospel of Mark, unlike Jesus male disciples,
understand Jesus significance. For instance, in Mark 14:3 9, an anonymous woman anoints Jesus head
with an expensive oil, and in response the people at the dinner table criticize her action. In this case,
Thurston contends that the anointment foreshadows Jesus death and that more importantly the
anonymous woman comprehends that Jesus is the crucified Messiah (Thurston 75). This demonstrates
that women in the 1st century Jesus movement understood who Jesus was, which explains why they
displayed unyielding faith. The males on the other hand are

The Angry Black Man Analysis
The Angry Woman, The Angry Arab, The Angry Black Man. These are labels given to people in today
s society who for speaking out on injustice in the world. Is this fair? Are these individuals out of line
for getting angry at injustice? To explore this topic we will take use an example from Nora Berenstain
s essay Epistemic Exploitation, of a woman named Summer who believes her department of
Philosophy had sexist biased in the decision to reward fellowships to only male graduate students. She
also points out the department is known for covering up issues of sexual harassment and harboring
perpetrators of sexual harassment, some of which she has personally experienced. When confiding in a
male cohort, Dean, he says her accounts are a misrepresentation of the department, and that there are,
only a few bad apples . Likewise, he minimizes Summer s points and says she is just upset that she did
not win a fellowship from the department. If Summer were to at this point get angry at the situation,
she would be justified in her anger because of her perspective in the situation, and Dean as a member
of the oppressor group is in the wrong for trying to discredit and perpetuate the gender oppressive
environment. To begin, we should discuss two opposing views on the aptness of anger. A classic stoic
argument on anger comes from the first century roman philosopher Seneca, in his book On Anger. In
his first extract of his book Seneca describes how anger is uncontrollable and therefore useless
(Seneca, 101). To support this, in the second extract, Seneca rebukes the argument that anger can be
used as motivation, by stating that he believes virtue and moral outrage at injustice can provide
enough motivation to make change (Seneca, 103). Further, in his third extract, Seneca argues that
anger should not be used as motivation because he believes the very nature of anger is precarious,
therefore untrustworthy. Rather, humans have been equipped with reason for both foreseeing issues,
and to use as motive for change (Seneca, 104). Thus, Seneca says gaining control and overcoming
ones emotions is the only way to live a productive in making change to moral injustice in the world.
In contrast to Seneca, Amia Srinivasan has an

that better than sex. Playboy magazine was named after an automobile company in Chicago because
Hugh Hefner thought it resembled high class and high class is what he became.

The purpose of the tool is to allow Local Health Districts to assess if a MOC is appropriate for their ED or if an implemented MOC is functioning to its utmost potential. The tool is intended to be used at an ED level in a collaborative approach with all key stakeholders. The Self Assessment tool rates the effectiveness of each model. Results of the self assessment are then linked to responses based on the key principles described for each MOC. A robust evaluation of each model can be used to generate an action plan for an ED to improve the functioning of current Models of Care being used, or to consider the implementation of new models. Assess the current Models of Care in their Emergency Departments using the given criteria It is recognised that not all of the Models of Emergency Care are applicable for all NSW Emergency Departments. Major Hasan had become self radicalized and some feel was pushed to the point of carrying out this heinous act by his upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. His shooting spree was brought to an end after he was shot by base security, wounded but not martyred. This attack should never have happened. The government had the knowledge and intelligence to prevent it but failed to connect the dots. We cannot let each other down like this. • 5. Kamehameha V Thesis Paper Who would you pick for your top 5 ali i in Hawaiian History? Would Kamehameha V be on there? I most certainly think Kamehameha should be on that list. He left schooling at the age of 18 to work in the government office building and he was the last of the Kamehameha s to rule. Kamehameha V was the second best ruler behind Kamehameha the great because he had to overcome a lot, tried to follow exactly the way his grandfather ruled, and worked extremely hard for things he thought were right for his people. When Prince Lot and Princess Pauhi were children they were expected to marry each other. At the age of 16, Pauhi didn t want to get married to Prince Lot because she was in love with Charles Reed Bishop. The two later on got married and Prince Lot never found love. On December 11, 1830 a prince by the name of Lota Kapuaiwa Kalanimauka Ali iolani Kalanikupuapa ikalaninui was born. 4 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They went and met presidents and talked with other members of royalty, what it was like to run a society, and to prepare them for their future roles as leaders. This is just one example of what Kamehameha V did to show his people that he was willing to learn from other kings to see what he should do for his people. Another thing that Lot did was raise the Sugar Industry. You might think of that as bad but at the time people were getting destroyed by the incoming people so Kamehameha V helped to bring up the sugar industry to help them bring in goods from other parts of the world. But the biggest way he helped his people was by sending people with leprosy to the island of Molokai. He saved a lot of Hawaiian lives by sending only the sick to Molokai. This was extremely smart because Hawaiians were not adapted to the new diseases that the foreigners brought. His one idea is still used today, people with leprosy go to Molokai to get treatment or to help people that have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Swot Analysis Obamacare On Monday, with all eyes squarely focused on the Iowa caucuses, the House and Senate were in session. That s a good thing because this Congress has its work cut out for it, with only 81 legislative days remaining on the House Calendar from February 5th to October 1, 2016 they must grapple with clearing the Fiscal Year 2017 Budget and Appropriations bills, grapple with various attempts to undermine the ACA, tax reform issues, and more. Just Tuesday the House continued its attacks on Obamacare, through a longshot attempt to override the President s veto of a bill that would have undone the hallmark law and defund Planned Parenthood. The 241 186 vote to override the veto fell short of the two thirds needed, meaning that the President s health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Should the Freedom Caucus hold firm on lower spending levels they are likely to derail their party s plans to build consensus and demonstrate effective leadership in an election year. Aside from setting appropriations deadlines, this week the House passed the Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act of 2015 (H.R. 3700) a proactive bill to extend affordable housing to more low income families. The bipartisan measure received nearly unanimous support with 427 votes in favor also included an amendment by Representatives David Price (D NC) and Robert Aderholt (R AL) to modernize the HOPWA formula by counting people living with HIV rather than cumulative AIDS cases. While there is work to be done, such as building on and preserving the increases achieved in the FY 16 budget, and advancing the HOPWA language through the Senate, there is a lesson to be learned from this week; even in a Congress as divided as the 114th, there are victories to be had and common ground to be forged. As advocates, we must hold each other and our legislators accountable. That means making our voices heard, including writing and calling out members of congress and letting them know how the dollars that they allocate through the appropriations process affect their constituents on the ground and the that political gamesmanship in setting funding allocations affect real ... The Phantom s voice uses his voice to his advantage in the play. First, instead of singing the whole thing, he expresses and brings out words in the form of whispering, a casual talking voice, or shouting them. Lyrically, the Phantom expresses his longing for Christine by choosing meaningful words that would persuade her to join him. Furthermore, in the play, the interactions between the actors show expression. An example of their interaction is that Christine doesn t fully acknowledge the Phantom, expressing that there are boundaries between them that shouldn t be crossed. Similarly, in ... • 9. Manipulation In Shakespeare s Othello Otello takes Shakespeare s Othello and turns it into an Italian Opera. While the two are similar in many ways, it is their differences that set them apart and enhance the meaning of the play. Otello begins in Cyprus at the end of the defeat of the Turks, and the beginning of Iago s plot to destroy Othello. During the celebration of Othello s return, Cassio sings his praises for Desdemona, and seems to begin to arouse Othello s suspicions early on. Iago s plan to ruin Othello and Desdemona s marriage and tarnish Cassio s reputation continues seamlessly through his manipulation of Othello s thoughts. He points him towards Cassio and Desdemona s more flirtatious behaviors during the feast, quickly angering him. Iago lacks the subtlety that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The effects of every character s actions come full circle, and are slightly different from Shakespeare s original ending. Instead of allowing Iago to merely become a prisoner to be tortured later, Othello takes out his anger on him and murders him. Iago is unable to survive because of his evil deeds and his effective manipulation of Othello. In some ways, he brought about his own demise by doing too well in his manipulation of his enemy. He enraged Othello so much that he felt compelled to enact his revenge by killing Iago, who brought about his mental destruction in the first place. This alternative ending illustrates the power of rage over one s mind and body, and places emphasis on the immorality of Iago s manipulations. Iago is not the only one who suffers from the consequences of Othello s loss of sanity. Desdemona s death is much more brutal than it had been originally. Instead of suffocating his wife in bed, Othello violently strangles Desdemona to death, and he doesn t attempt to talk himself out of ending her life like he does in Othello. Othello s actions are much more deliberate and merciless as a direct result of his domination by jealousy. Overall, Otello illustrates more plainly the destructive qualities of various emotions while Othello tells a story of jealousy and betrayal while addressing issues of racism and sexism. This film enhanced my understanding of the emotions felt by the characters and the impact of these emotions both mentally and physically on both the individual and those around them. However, the film lacks the political commentary and overall meaning that Othello holds. In the end, the film and book are best in conjunction to bring out the strengths in ... • 10. Martin Luther, And His Concept Of Christianity This is an essay about Martin Luther, and his concept of Christianity. As a student and a unbiased Christian, I enjoy studying all types of religions, and elements that encompass them. Luther began his religious career as an Augustinian Monk in the Roman Catholic Church. So, Luther was initially loyal to the papacy, and even after many theological conflicts, he attempted to bring about his understanding with the Church. But this was a contradiction not to suffer because in his later years, Luther waged a continual battle with the papacy. Luther was to become a professor of biblical exegesis at Wittenberg where, in 1957, he posted his critique of the Roman Catholic Church s teachings and practices. This is otherwise known as The Ninety Five Theses, which is usually considered to be the original document of the Reformation. The Reformation was very controversial then, and, from a historical viewpoint, it still is today. Luther played a large part in the movement, and I was interested I doing a research to uncover what was the issue with religion. • 11. D. Salinger s The Catcher s The Rye J. D. Salinger s novel is often called, . . . the forbidden fruit in the garden of literature ( The Catcher 116). J. D. Salinger is a writer from the 1950s, a time where literature has questioned the ideas of traditions placed in a community. Through his life and through his characters Holden Caulfield and Phoebe Caulfield in the 1950s realistic fictional bildungsroman The Catcher in the Rye, the postmodernist author J. D. Salinger focuses on the theme of self isolation in society in order to create independent opinions. J.D. Salinger was born on January 1, 1919, in New York City. He was raised in a wealthy family and used his financial background as an inspiration for Holden Caulfield in The Catcher in the Rye ( The Catcher 117). Also throughout the novel, he showed his conflicting religious view points because Salinger s father Sol Salinger was a Jewish ham and cheese importer, and his mother Miriam Jillich Salinger was an Irish Christian (Blackstock 1,798). Salinger also had an older sister named Doris (Miller 551). Even though Salinger had a rich family, he did not have a stable educational experience. Early in life, he had a public school education (Blackstock 1,798). Later, he flunked out of numerous prep schools, one including the famous McBurney School ( The Catcher 117). He ended up going to Valley Forge Military Academy in 1934, wrote his first stories as a yearbook editor, graduated in 1936, and later used the school to become the model for ... The sixth sense is demonstrated in all the progression and inventions of human civilizations. Sometimes, the inventions springs suddenly but after a long trials and sufferings; so that the inventor attains his goal at once as if a sudden inspiration had illuminated his researches. The poets called this inspiration an intuition and the sophists regarded it a heavenly discovery and unidentified suggestion. Catherine Earnshaw Essay As represented in Catherine Earnshaw s early characterization, the social and cultural ideals of the time period are heavily reinforced through Catherine s defiant individualism and love for the initially lowly Heathcliff, which contrasts with the civility and propriety of the people around her. Despite being set solely in the Yorkshire Moors in England, the delicate social hierarchy of class is clearly seen in the residents of both Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, in which Wuthering Heights lacks the class, refinement, and civilization of the latter. Despite the era s social expectations of women as submissive and demure individuals expected to marry into a wealthy family, Catherine rejects these very standards through her fierce love for Heathcliff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this description, Catherine emphasizes the social values of the eighteenth century through her willingness to defy authority and reason, pitting her against the strict societal expectations of the era. However, the exposure of Catherine to Thrushcross Grange as she stays at the manor to recover from the injury to her ankle, prompts a transformation in her romanticist character that openly explores the cultural values of the Yorkshire Manors. The civility of the Lintons in Thrushcross Grange transforms the once defiant and youthful Catherine into a mature and well groomed lady that develops an internal conflict between her love for the well mannered and wealthy Edgar Linton and the lowly Heathcliff. In Brontë s novel, Catherine emphasizes her characterization in a scene where she laments this internal conflict saying, I ve no more business to marry Edgar Linton than I have to be in heaven; and if the wicked man in there had not brought Heathcliff so low, I shouldn t have thought of it. Medication has down sides, such as creating drug dependencies and increased tolerance for the drug resulting in a decrease in the amount of success that drug has to treat the pain. Placebos offer a medicine free treatment to help patients deal with pain. Many studies have been done to examine the difference between medicine and placebos pills to treat migraine headaches. Placebos have been found to have similar pain relieving effects to medicine, without the harmful risks the medication has (Seymour, 2011). Big Bang Theory Or A Big Fabrication Adair Day AP English IV Mrs. Britt Collins 14 March 2016 Big Bang Theory or a Big Fabrication The concept of creation has boggled human s minds for centuries. Human nature has an intuitive sense of longing for an answer to solve the unknown, and creation embodies the concept of unknown. In an effort to compile reason and scientific knowledge, an explanation of the formation of the universe was formed and is widely known as The Big Bang Theory. The Big Bang Theory is considered, ...the leading scientific explanation for the formation of the universe (Howell). The Big Bang Theory articulates that before this event there was nothing; and after it there was something. This suggestion to how the universe was created was originally born from the sighting that the surrounding galaxies are moving away from our own at an immense speed as if they had been propelled by some force (Howell). The standard theory states that the entire universe originated as a condensed, infinitely pressured, singularity, which defies the laws of today s understanding of physics. It is a misconception this event occurred as an explosion; rather it resembled more of an expansion. At one moment there was nothing in existence and in the following, the universe expanded as a balloon would, from a sub atomic particle, to all that it is today. Originally, Jesus teachings were passed down orally, but eventually, Christians began to write down the oral traditions decades later after his death, specifically after the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70CE (Seat 8/25). As a result, it is important to note that there is a time discrepancy. Jesus died in 30 CE, but it was not until 70CE that Christians began to write down his teachings; therefore, this time difference has led to different interpretations of his teachings (Seat 9/1). As highlighted by Barbara MacHaffe it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These women followed him, and ministered to him in Galilee (NRSV, Mark 15: 40 41). Thurston explains that to follow is a technical term for discipleship throughout the Gospel and she also explains that ministered is best translated to provided or served (Thurston 69). Therefore, Jesus male disciples followed him and were expected to minister, actions which were also carried out by the women as depicted in the Gospel of Mark (i.e. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, etc). From this explanation, one can conclude that women in the 1st century Jesus movement assisted Jesus in his mission to spread Christianity. It is also important to note, that the women in the Gospel of Mark, unlike Jesus male disciples, understand Jesus significance. For instance, in Mark 14:3 9, an anonymous woman anoints Jesus head with an expensive oil, and in response the people at the dinner table criticize her action. In this case, Thurston contends that the anointment foreshadows Jesus death and that more importantly the anonymous woman comprehends that Jesus is the crucified Messiah (Thurston 75). This demonstrates that women in the 1st century Jesus movement understood who Jesus was, which explains why they displayed unyielding faith. The males on the other hand are ... • 33. The Angry Black Man Analysis The Angry Woman, The Angry Arab, The Angry Black Man. These are labels given to people in today s society who for speaking out on injustice in the world. Is this fair? Are these individuals out of line for getting angry at injustice? To explore this topic we will take use an example from Nora Berenstain s essay Epistemic Exploitation, of a woman named Summer who believes her department of Philosophy had sexist biased in the decision to reward fellowships to only male graduate students. She also points out the department is known for covering up issues of sexual harassment and harboring perpetrators of sexual harassment, some of which she has personally experienced. When confiding in a male cohort, Dean, he says her accounts are a misrepresentation of the department, and that there are, only a few bad apples . Likewise, he minimizes Summer s points and says she is just upset that she did not win a fellowship from the department. If Summer were to at this point get angry at the situation, she would be justified in her anger because of her perspective in the situation, and Dean as a member of the oppressor group is in the wrong for trying to discredit and perpetuate the gender oppressive environment. To begin, we should discuss two opposing views on the aptness of anger. A classic stoic argument on anger comes from the first century roman philosopher Seneca, in his book On Anger. In his first extract of his book Seneca describes how anger is uncontrollable and therefore useless (Seneca, 101). To support this, in the second extract, Seneca rebukes the argument that anger can be used as motivation, by stating that he believes virtue and moral outrage at injustice can provide enough motivation to make change (Seneca, 103). Further, in his third extract, Seneca argues that anger should not be used as motivation because he believes the very nature of anger is precarious, therefore untrustworthy. Rather, humans have been equipped with reason for both foreseeing issues, and to use as motive for change (Seneca, 104). Thus, Seneca says gaining control and overcoming ones emotions is the only way to live a productive in making change to moral injustice in the world. In contrast to Seneca, Amia Srinivasan has an ...
