Enceladus Research Paper
Enceladus Plumes: Cassini s Next Target Imagine hiking up to catch a glimpse of Old Faithful, the
famous geyser located in Yellowstone National Park. 8000 gallons of hot water are shot up into the
sky and reach a maximum altitude at 200 feet. This magnificent sight pales in comparison to plumes
located on Enceladus, Saturn s 6th largest moon. The Cassini spacecraft first spotted Enceladus in
2005 and reported enormous geysers erupting continuously and spouting water thousands of miles into
outer space on Enceladus fissures near its south pole. This sight is not only uniquely spectacular, but
also intriguing, as scientists are still unsure of the exact cause of Enceladus Plumes despite nearly a
decade of research. A dozen theories have

The Lamb And The Tyger Essay

Research Paper (The Lamb and The Tyger; Creativity)
When reading the poem, The Lamb and The Tyger written by William Blake, it was extremely
confusing as the reader has no idea what Blake is talking about without doing further research. As the
reader begins to research more about the author and the poem itself, the reader will come to find out
that the poem was a part of one of William Blake s larger works entitled Songs of Innocence. It will
begin to become clear to the reader very soon after reading the poem, why a poem like the Lamb
would be in such a work. The poem the Lamb is all about God. It poses the difficult yet simple ...

When something, anything is created nobody knows what it will become.
On January 20th, 1892 in Springfield, Massachusetts the game of basketball was born. Dr. James
Naismith would be credited for creating the game of basketball during the winter months at a local
YMCA. The game consisted of thirteen rules, nine of which are still in existence today. The final score
of the first game was 1 0 with William Chase being credited with the first ever basket. There is no way
anybody could tell that when Dr. Naismith created the game of basketball he thought it would turn
into the game it is today.
The game of basketball is pure representation of the lamb as the game was created from one man to
give another man or woman something to do in his or her free time. The game was not created out of
greed or jealousy it was purely for fun and something to do. The game of basketball is also the
definition of creativity as the game continues to get more creative each and every day with players
now going from just passing the ball to dribbling, shooting three point shots, and even dunks. When
the game of basketball was in its earliest stages, there wasn t even a such thing as a basketball. It
doesn t get much more creative than that. The first ever basketball was a soccer ball because Dr.
Naismith did not even have enough money to create a new ball. It wouldn t be until two whole years
later that the basketball was created.
In the first ever basketball game eighteen players

The Nature Of Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 By William...
William Shakespeare is recognized for being one of greatest poets of all time. His works are still
popular to this day. Many of his works included extended metaphors and similes with rhetorical
language and were rooted in the nature of love. Two of his poems that are rather alike, but also very
contrastive are Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? and My mistresses eyes are nothing like the
sun. They both contain a core theme of love or anti love in some aspects. While these two poems are
built around the same type of subject, their interpretations come across in separate ways. In contrast to
Shakespeare s Sonnet 18 which is a serious love poem that contains imagery and metaphors,
Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 is more negative and humorous but contains imagery and similes. Overall,
both of these poems fulfill the same motive. They were written to praise women, but the two use
different methods for doing so. In Sonnet 18 , Shakespeare compares his lover with the negative
aspects of summer stating /Thou art more lovely and more temperate/ (2). On the other hand in Sonnet
130 , Shakespeare compares his mistress to the good qualities of acquisitive things to show how even
though she is not perfect, she is still important to him. He vows by heaven (13) that the feelings he has
for his mistress are as rare /As any she belied with false compare/ (14). The messages delivered by the
two poems are very unique. In Sonnet 18 , the woman being described is perfect and does

Analysis Of The Book Jim Crow On Trial
The book Jim Crow on Trial is very much centered around subjects of justice and fairness. As it
follows a real court case, if must do so. The boys suffer through a time of unfair and often cruel
treatment. They are accused by 2 white girls, tried by bias and racist juries, and finally, thrice
convicted of rape and sentenced to death. In their last trial, some had their charges dropped, and others
received only life in prison. Those in prison eventually left on parole. Only one of the boys was
pardoned pre mortem, the rest pardoned 80 years after being accused. So could one honestly say they
received justice? Or is there a time limit on this? I believe so, and I don t think they got the justice due
to them.
To answer the question of did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two facts allow one to state with confidence that at the beginning of the book, the boys were
treated unfairly. Towards middle of the book is when justice becomes an important aspect. As we
move into the court, we truly get to see all of the unfair moments and unjust components of both the
trial and the case. Directly following their trial, their given sentence (death at the electric chair for all
but one, who was sentenced to life in prison) was overturned. This coming after the Communist Party
of America talked about this case, calling it, American injustice , and asserting that, the Negroes are
wholly innocent of the crimes for which they were sentenced. . This shows that there was injustice in
their trial, as the CPA chose to say. As the story goes on, they go through multiple other trials, each
resulting in a sentence of either death or life in prison. In the end, they are given their final sentence. A
compromise lead to 2 of the boys (the youngest) being set free, though not pardoned. They went to
New York. As for the rest of the boys? They were locked away, and each eventually released on
parole. This is excluding Patterson, who was given life in prison, which he eventually escaped. One of
the boys, Norris eventually formally requested a pardon. It was accepted by George Wallace, who was
as the book said, best known for being an ardent

Common and Civil Law Legal Systems
Common and Civil law legal systems
According to Zimmermann there are as many legal systems as there are national states . Every country
has its own unique legal system. However, we can allocate among them three main legal systems.
These are: Civil Law, Common Law and Islamic Law. Civil and Common Laws are the most
influential legal systems in the world, especially in its Western part. All three of these legal systems
have existed and developed for many centuries. Further will follow the description of the historically
appearance of each legal system separately.
Civil legal system is considered to be the oldest and the most widespread one. It also known as
Continental, Roman or Romano Germanic law. In general, Roman law consists of a ... Show more

Equity deals with situations by applying notions of good sense and fairness .[4] (Elliott, C Quinn, F,
1996).The law is dominantly created by judge and often without checking the legislation, only by
drawing analogy the previous similar cases. This moment shows the difference of the legislators in
civil law and in common law. In the civil law, judges should apply the law, which was created by the
legislator, on the basis of separation of powers. On the other hand, in common law the judge is given
the power to create the law.
Another difference between civil and common law system is the force of precedents. In civil law
system, the court decides the particular cases according to the legislation and legal norms. But in the
common law the courts are supposed not only to solve the cases, but also give an example of how
similar cases have to be solved in the future. This means, that decisions, which are made by higher
level courts in a specific areas are binding the lower ones to follow them. This makes the court in the
common law the basis of legislation.
Court procedures are also differentiating in both civil and common legal systems. We all know that at
the court two parties cooperate by presenting their evidence to each other. Civil legal system has an
inquisitorial procedure. In inquisitorial procedure the judge is the active person, who also takes more
investigative role. Common law countries use the accusatorial system, which is also known as

journalism changed in a way that no one would have ever been able to predict. The years following

Thompson believed that every individual, know matter how weird, had a say in politics and possessed
power to influence elections with just one vote. These views in the 1970s gave way too many views
easily expressed today like when MTV began Rock the Vote , encouraging young voters to stand up
and let their voices heard as well letting them know their voice mattered. Thompson s life style played
a pivotal role in many avenues of American pop culture such as art, movies, and creating a cult
following that is still strong today. Most illustrations of Thompson s work came from the artist Ralph
Steadman who became a famous artist, and won many awards in his life. From Steadman s popularity,
he continued to illustrate many books such as Alice in Wonderland, Fahrenheit 451, and Animal Farm.
(Graham) There were three movies made from Thompson s writings to include Fear and Loathing in
Las Vegas, Rum Diaries, and Where the Buffalo Roam staring Actors such as Johnny Depp, Benicio
Del Toro, and Bill Murray. Gonzo journalism and other writings from Thompson created a cult
following that influenced journalist, writers, actors, musicians, and even teenagers who looked to him
for a voice. Many of Thompson s followers go as far as to get his iconic gonzo fist symbol tattooed on
them to show their support. Thompson s influence remains strong in America with its reach expanding

What Are The Stereotypes In Red Dog

quote by Vanno emphasizes the true love, friendship and connection between a man and a mans best

the numerous stories of a real life red kelpie dog that lived in northern West Australia during the 1970s

viewers feel small and over shots to make the viewer feel big. An undershot in the movie is when the

Over the shoulder shots are used when characters are talking and close ups on the faces when they are
talking. This lets viewers see the reactions and expressions on the characters face when listening and
talking. Medium shots are used to show viewers a bigger area of the targeted character. Long shots are
used to show the character and where they are. It shows viewers the landscape and gives people an
idea of where the character is at that point of time. Close up shots are used to focus on the characters
face and to show emotions in detail. This is especially needed in a movie like Red Dog because you
have a character who cant speak and the only way to show his reactions is through facial expressions
and body language. Eye level Angle is used to show things in the characters perspective at their eye

Artemision Bronze Essay
The Artemision Bronze creator is still in debate and has been credited with either being created by
several great sculptors such as Boeotia, Aegina, Sicyon, Argos Onatas, Myron and Nesiotes. Any of
these sculptors could have created this marvel which is questioned to be either Zeus or Poseidon due
to its missing weapon. The Artemision Bronze was said to be created around 460 B.C.E, also known
as the Classical Period where Greek Sculptures began to transform into realistic human forms along
with the rise of Democracy and the fall of the Aristocratic culture. As of today, the Artemision Bronze
is held in National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece along with several other important
statues like Diadoumenos, the Varvakeion Athena, etc. The statue has been said to have the theme of

follow the trend toward high end products.
Although demand is growing for premium products, this has mainly been limited to large
metropolitan areas. There is still demand for economy and domestic products throughout China, and
growth for domestic products is still observed in the rural and interior areas of China.
Young consumers, particularly educated, middle class men, are leading growth in the market and

China s One Child Policy
China s population currently stands at 1.357 billion people. It is the most populous country in the
world and it is only increasing. The Chinese government has spent more than 40 years trying to slow
their population growth. They have done so through their controversial one child policy. There is no
denying that China s one child policy changed the lives of Chinese citizens when it the Chinese
Communist Party [CCP] in 1979 as a way of controlling population. Under Mao, the government
encouraged families to have as many children as possible, believing that a strong nation grew out of a
large population. By 1976, the population grew from 540 million people in 1949 to 940 million. The
rapid increase in population stretched the resources that the CCP could provide to the people. The
government believed that a population control policy was the only way they prevent the population
from experiencing another dramatic increase in size . The CCP hoped that the policy would alleviate
some of the social and economic pressure an increasing population created, and the policy has worked.
According to data collected by the World Bank, China s birth rate has fallen from 2.63 in 1980 to
1.217 as of 2014, preventing an estimate two hundred to four hundred million births . For all its
intended benefits, the one child policy has also brought many unintended consequences, both harmful
and beneficial; and these consequences have disproportionately affect girl and women more than boys
and men. The

Differences Of Ibn Battuta And Marco Polo
Alexis Segura
HIST 103
The Similar Journeys of Two Very Different Men Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo were travelers who
documented their experiences. These records of their journeys give modern day historians a way of
knowing what things were like in those time periods. In The Travels of Marco Polo, The Venetian, the
life of a young Italian man exploring a foreign country is explained. Similarly, Ibn Battuta shared his
experiences in A Donation to Those Interested in Curiosities . These two men share similar
experiences, but in different situations and each perceive their experiences differently. Marco Polo was
a merchant in Venice, Italy when he left home in 1271 to travel to the Mongolian ruled area of China.
Polo made his trip to China by way of the Silk Road. When Polo arrived in China, he met the emperor,
Kublai Khan, whom he described as a fine middle size...a beautiful fresh complexion...his eyes dark
and fine... (Polo 102). During his time in China, Polo learned four different languages and became a
favorite of Khan. It is evident that Polo was somewhat fascinated with the king. He spoke extremely
highly of the king and his court. Polo could have spoken this way simply because he was truly
captivated by the king, or perhaps because he was afraid to speak lowly of him. The emperor
appointed Polo to his court and sent Polo on missions for the kingdom. Polo s stories of his missions
seem a bit exaggerated and repetitive, but he could have told them this way to shed light on difficult
situations. He may have wanted people to have a good perception of what other parts of the world
were like. This could have been for selfish reasons or possibly just to spare people of the ugly things
he had seen. The detail of Polo s stories suggests that he was truly enthralled by the places he d
traveled, as well as the king s palace. Although Polo seemed in awe of the Mongolian empire, he
eventually decided it was time to go home. Polo s travels were not the safest, as he encountered many
pirates and even lost six hundred men to the sea. When Polo eventually made it home, he was greeted
with a war and soon thrown in prison where he would tell his stories and be put to death. Polo could
have told these stories so wildly just

This is the tenth book in the E Series How to Beat Your Competition Selling Real Estate to Foreign

sell real estate to international buyers.
Why would you need the real estate buyers from abroad?
All real estate is local as the old saying goes, but buyers are not! In today s internet times you can sell
goods, services and real estate to anybody in the world without borders. The 2016 report of the
National Association of Realtors (U.S.) states that over the 12 month period the foreign buyers
purchased more than 200 000 homes in the U.S. for which they paid more than 100 billion dollars. At

Well, very often it is really not enough and the reasons are plenty: Your local real estate market is
weak and the local buyers are not active at all while you have to sell fast and not on the cheap; or the
local market is more or less balanced, but you feel that you can t get the price you want anyway; or
your property for sale might have a much greater appeal to a foreign buyer from a particular country
as for a local one and you may very well benefit from this situation as a private seller or realtor or
developer.
Some real estate sellers believe that taking the usual approach to marketing properties for sale in the
comfort of their own language, media and cultural environment is just enough and the foreign buyers
can find them anyway if they wish. Yes, it is possible to get one or two international inquirers this
way, but the number of the prospective buyers will be in no comparison if using the methods of your
property promotion to the foreign markets specifically.
The E series How to Beat Your Competition Selling Real Estate to Foreign Buyers is based on the
author s personal experience with marketing international real estate from all over the world to the
foreign Russian speaking buyers (directly to the buying public and through Russian speaking realtors)
and her extensive research in the other foreign nation s buying markets (like Chinese who are the hot
topic in all the media).

Heart of Darkness vs. Apocalypse Now

How Discipline Is Not Easy
Discipline has always been, to me, a thought of growing in yourself or in this case growing in your
relationship with Christ. Discipline is not easy, in fact, it is hard, but the results are what we discipline
ourselves for. Celebration of Discipline was a very eye opening and insightful book in many aspects.
Foster, the author, describes spiritual discipline as an inward and outward reality. Meaning, the inner
and outward attitude of the discipline. The bible uses spiritual discipline to describe fasting, prayer,
worship, and even celebration. When Jesus spoke of spiritual discipline, he hardly gives instruction of
how to discipline ourselves spiritually. This book book gives more of an outline/guidance to types of
disciplines that could help you in your spiritual journey. There are three types of disciplines discussed
in this book, along with many sub categories within each type. All these groups are used to help one
form a more well rounded spiritual life. The types are inward, outward, and corporate discipline.
Inward discipline is a type of discipline that focuses on your inner self/spiritual life. This involves
things like praying, meditation, fasting, and studying. Outward disciple is more of what you can do as
an individual to discipline yourself spiritually, such as simplicity, solitude, submission, and service.
These are still self centered but more focused on the outside actions rather than the inside actions.
Finally, we have the corporate discipline. This

Gender, Racism And Class
Gender, Racism and Class in the movie Bread and Ross and Hammering it out
Fundamentally, gender, racism and class are three controversial social issues that have for a long
period triggered heated debate in the American society. In essence, this issues concern the daily lives
of American citizen and immigrants disregarding their class, social status, educational level or the
position they hold in the society. Therefore, it is imperative that these issues are analyzed
comprehensively in order to take an informed stand about the impact they have to the society. This
paper, seeks to critically examine how gender, racism and class are addressed in the two movies Bread
and Roses and Hammering it .
Discussion
According to (Bread and Roses) gender is described as condition of being either male or female. In the
movie Bread and Roses gender as a social issue is dominant in different scenarios. Profoundly, women
dignity in the movie has been degraded by men who in various scenes have used them as sexual
objects to fulfill their sexual desires. For instance, the Mexican taxi driver to sorts sexual favors from
Maya in order to illegally sneak her to the United States from Mexico. While in the bar at the Mexican
and American border, Maya is sexually molested by the taxi driver. Further, this immoral behavior in
the society is perpetrated by Perez a supervisor in Clean Angels Company, who seeks to have sex with
Rosa in order to offer a job to her sister Maya in the Angel

NAEYC Standard 3a: Understanding the goals, benefits, and uses of assessment
This artifact Assessment of Guidance was created for my Observation and Participation in Early
Childhood/Primary Settings course. Over the course of sixteen weeks, I observed a child and
documented a child s development. The types of development I had to observe were her cognitive
development, creative development, emotional development, language development physical
development and social development. For each type of development, I had to provide an overall
summary of results on her development, a photo about that development and examples of the
development that took place over my observation.

Negative Effects Of Technology In Family Life
It is now possible to earn a college degree from home. Making it possible for anyone to attend a
college that could not make it to a campus in person. Most Universities and colleges offer degree
programs that can be earned online. Students can fit school into their schedules easier because course
material is available anywhere at any time (Irby Li, 2008). In the past, it was challenging for people,
especially older adults, to fit college into their busy schedules. People that had full time jobs and
families just did not have the time to fit college into their busy lives, even if they wanted to.
Technology has allowed people to work towards a college degree while working full time and caring
for their families. Some jobs offer incentives for their employees to return to college, which can help
them advance in their career; therefore earning more money. Older college students are finding this
method of college more attractive over the traditional campus classes, which is an incredible benefit
for people and their families. People are now able to keep in contact with people through social media
sites and text messaging. The negative impacts are often discussed how technology has interfered in
family life, but there are positive benefits to families, too. A recent study revealed that the majority of
families feel that technology has affected their relationships in positive ways (McDaniel Coyne,
2016). Couples are now able to communicate throughout their day while they are

Examples Of Discrimination In To Kill A Mockingbird
The United States, for hundreds of years, was what the majority of the world looked at as the prime
example of racism and discrimination. A pitiful example of how humans can treat each other under the
right conditions. The lynching, torture and outright cold blooded murder of African Americans in the
USA. This behaviour was evident (mostly within the South) after the influential Plessy v. Ferguson in
1896 onward, up until the Civil Rights movements which managed to squash much of the institutional
discrimination. One could see a manifestation of this in 1960, with Harper Lee releasing the classic
racial commentary To Kill a Mockingbird , she managed to illuminate many injustices faced by the
Black communities in the deep South scrutinising ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The injustices served to the Black community were fought, often lost, but nevertheless fought. The
African Americans of the South were being stripped of their right to a fair and just trial to degrade
African Americans as a people. We see this in the many trials which unjustly convicted innocent
African Americans, To Kill a Mockingbird does a great job at illustrating this, Harper Lee uses Tom
Robinson along with a clearly obvious court case (in favour of Tom) to clearly show the extreme bias
within the courts, as Tom does not receive the respect, or consideration of the White jurors or
prosecutor (with Tom, in turn, being sentenced to death when he is clearly innocent). Harper wanted to
show that, while Blacks were being given their constitutional right to a fair trial, these trials, were far
from fair, they were a despicable combination of Kangaroo Court and Show Trialing and the book
helped bring this fact to light for many northern readers whom may not come across such information
otherwise. But there were many triumphs as well, the court case known as Brown v. Board of
Education , one of the most influential cases in all of civil rights history. It proved that Blacks are still
resilient to the discrimination within their society and that change, especially in regards to education
(one of the most important parts of one s life). Brown v. Board of Education led to the end of
segregated schools in the U.S., ruling them to be unconstitutional, overriding the ruling of Plessy v.
Ferguson (that being, separate but equal, which ended up as an Orwellian more equal than others
scenario). This ruling meant that children of all races would be allowed to enjoy the fruits of Western
education, it empowered the next generation of African Americans, not simply in a civil mentality
way, but in a literal

Chronic Pain Research
Living with constant pain can be debilitating and it can be a huge detriment in one s life. Chronic pain
can impair an individual s ability to participate in almost every day life regimes. Research has shown
that chronic pain negatively impacts an individual s ability to maintain social connections (Lennon,
Link, Marbach, Dohrenwend, 1989), employment and ability to undertake activities of daily living
(Andersson, 1999). Chronic pain is significantly related to a range of mental health difficulties, as well
as reduced subjective well being. A meta analysis of chronic pain research suggests that there is an
interaction between a patient s symptoms of depression and the severity of their chronic pain (Tunks,
Crook, Weir, 2008), and that chronic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education . The key here is to educate the doctors
and get them to educate their patients about opioids and their potent side effects. The more educated
the patient is the more likely they will make a well informed decision. Therapeutic patient education is
a method that was established for the purpose of enabling health care professionals to pass on their
knowledge and expertise to patients so that patients can become partners in their own care (Vargas
Schaffer Cogan, 2014). By allowing the patient to engage in the educated decision making, it gives
them a certain level of responsibility for his or her own health. While this is the first step to diagnosis
of chronic pain, this can allow patient to explore other non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, such as
acupuncture, physiotherapy and physical exercise. This would transform what is now a solely
medically driven, pharmacologic approach to pain management into a patient centered,
multidisciplinary, complementary, and integrative medicine approach, and maintain the patient as an
active participant at the center of the pain management strategy (Vargas Schaffer Cogan, 2014). Again,
this is very important because with increased knowledge, patients modify their attitudes, improve their

Statistical Assumptions Of Substantive Analyses Across The...
Nimon, K. (2012). Statistical Assumptions of Substantive Analyses Across the General Linear Model:
A Mini Review. Frontiers in Psychology Front. Psychology, 3(322).
When using inferential statistics depends on the sampling technique used as well as the characteristics
of the population data. This dependency does assume that the sample and population meet certain
criteria. The criteria is called statistical assumptions, and if there are violations of these statistical
assumptions that are not addressed, than the data may not be interpreted correctly. In particular, Type I
or Type II errors may be increased or decreased incorrectly. Nimon s (2012) article focused on
assumptions associated with substantive statistical analyses across the ... Show more content on

Using unreliable data may cause underestimation which increase the probability of Type II errors. If
there is correlated error, we may see unreliable data to be overestimated which would increase the risk
of Type I errors. To satisfy the assumption of error free data, researchers may conduct and report
analyses using latent variables as opposed to observed variables. This technique is called structural
equation modeling (SEM). This is where latent variables are formed from item scores, the former of
which becomes the unit analyzed. It is important to note that SEM is a large sample technique. A
researcher can also delete a few items to raise the reliability of an observed score, but this should be
reported along with the accompanied estimated of the reliability with and without the deleted items.
Some researchers consider measurement to be an assumption while others do not. Nimon (2012) does
state because measurement levels play such a pivotal role in statistical analyses decision trees, it
would not be recommended to lower the measurement level of data unless certain characteristics are
met. This may discard important information and may produce misleading or erroneous information.
Yet another assumption, is the assumption that inferential statistics in psychological and educational
research produce population data that is normally distributed. This does depend on the analysis
conducted, such as univariate, multivariate,

Persian culture. I will be bringing up Marjane Satrapi s background, Marji s family in the book, and
the environment that the novel takes place in to help prove my point. The Persian Culture affects the
novel Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, this is shown in the novel through characters like Marji, her

were second to them and treated them poorly in various ways. The Tehran Militant Clergy, was to a

ladies to wear veils, called a hijab, to cover their heads and parts of their faces and necks. There are
many different reasons for why ladies in the Islam religion wear the hijab. A few Muslims trust that
the hijab is worn in light of the fact that God expects ladies to cover their hair. In Persepolis, Satrapi

predominant demeanor of men. Right now there was likewise a convergence of Westernized culture

Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to Find and Good...
A Good Man Is Hard To Find and Good Country People are two short stories written by Flannery O
Connor during her short lived writing career. Despite the literary achievements of O Connor s works,
she is often criticized for the grotesqueness of her characters and endings of her short stories and
novels. Her writings have been described as understated, orderly, unexperimental fiction, with a
Southern backdrop and a Roman Catholic vision, in defiance, it would seem, of those restless
innovators who preceded her and who came into prominence after her death (Friedman 4). A Good

O Connor describes the children s mother in contrast to the grandmother by what they are wearing;
thus their clothes represent the age from which they are. The Children s mother still had on slacks and
still had her head tied up in a green kerchief, but the grandmother had on navy blue straw sailor hat
with a bunch of white dot in the print (O Connor 118). The children s mother is representative of the
New South in which the Southern Lady is becoming less of a central figure within society. A lady of
the old south would never wear slacks and tie her hair up in a kerchief to go out in public. Under an
old south mentality these actions would be considered very unlady like. O Connor illustrates the
tension between the old and the new south by the constant struggle between the grandmother, her son,
and the daughter in law.
O Connor also poses the contrast between the old and new South in her short story Good Country
People . Mrs. Hopewell and Mrs. Freeman represent the old South because of the way in which they
carry themselves and their traditional beliefs and values. Mrs. Freeman works for Mrs. Hopewell who
states the reason for her keepin her so long was that they were not trash. They were good country

Introduction After the signing of the Convention on Biological Diversity in the United Nations
Congress on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, a number of development
projects addressing the theme of biodiversity has considerably increased. Many of these projects have
been channeled through the Global Environment Facility (GEF) or other international agencies. Also,
many bilateral projects have seen light. In the aftermath of the signing of the Convention the Peruvian
Government approached the Finnish Government in 1995 with a proposal of a technical assistance

one human institution that makes a pauper the equal of a Rockefeller, the stupid man the equal of an

providing stability to the economy of Saudi Arabia. Our findings show that there are mainly four
factors which determine the net FDI flow to Saudi Arabia. These are GDP, Privatization, Import and

2. LITERATURE REVIEW
Estimates reported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD,1997) suggest
that several countries have experienced very rapid growth of the private sector during the transition
period. A number of studies have suggested that investment and growth in developing economies is
positively associated with indicators of openness and export promotion (Balasubramanyam et al.,
1996). Such findings may suggest that investors prefer countries with relatively liberal trade regimes
and few constraints on profit repatriation, possibly within regions with wider supra national free trade
arrangements. De Mello (2000) analyzed the time series and panel data for 32 OECD and non OECD
countries for the period 1970 90. He estimated the impact of FDI on capital accumulation and output
growth in the recipient economy supporting the FDI led growth hypothesis. Similarly, Soto (2000);
Alfaro, Chanda, Kalelmi Ozcan, Sayek (2004); Li and Liu (2005) found positive impact of FDI on
GDP growth. They all used FDI measure as percentage of GDP. Liu et al. (2002) examined the long
run relationship between economic growth, FDI and trade in China. A study on the quarterly data for

Examples Of The American Dream In Gran Torino
In today s day and age, it would be very difficult to find someone who has not heard of the American
dream. Although most people have heard of the American dream, if you were to ask a couple people
what the phrase means to them, there would probably be very different responses. With all the various
interpretations of the American dream out there, it has probably become somewhat difficult to truly
understand the meaning behind the phrase. However, no film better portrays what the American dream
is than Gran Torino. In Gran Torino, it is shown that the American dream is much more than owning
large amounts of material objects, but rather being able to live happily in America, and that is a goal
that anyone can reach, no matter the race or gender. As long as they are willing to travel down a
potentially hard road and put in the work, the American dream is attainable. Sometimes on the path of
achieving the American dream, it can be easy to forget what the American dream truly is, and make
the mistake of believing that wealth equates to being successful a person. Almost all of the characters
in Gran Torino are materialistic in their own way. A great example is Walt, who primarily cares about
his car, a material possession which also represents the American dream. The American pragmatist, he
fixes things as well as finishes things. He spends a lifetime accumulating the tools in his garage,
material goods, naming them and knowing how they work. (Alpert) Even though Walt and his

  • 3. Enceladus Research Paper Enceladus Plumes: Cassini s Next Target Imagine hiking up to catch a glimpse of Old Faithful, the famous geyser located in Yellowstone National Park. 8000 gallons of hot water are shot up into the sky and reach a maximum altitude at 200 feet. This magnificent sight pales in comparison to plumes located on Enceladus, Saturn s 6th largest moon. The Cassini spacecraft first spotted Enceladus in 2005 and reported enormous geysers erupting continuously and spouting water thousands of miles into outer space on Enceladus fissures near its south pole. This sight is not only uniquely spectacular, but also intriguing, as scientists are still unsure of the exact cause of Enceladus Plumes despite nearly a decade of research. A dozen theories have ... Scott McWaters Research paper (Title later) 11/19/15 (Rough Draft) Research Paper (The Lamb and The Tyger; Creativity) When reading the poem, The Lamb and The Tyger written by William Blake, it was extremely confusing as the reader has no idea what Blake is talking about without doing further research. As the reader begins to research more about the author and the poem itself, the reader will come to find out that the poem was a part of one of William Blake s larger works entitled Songs of Innocence. It will begin to become clear to the reader very soon after reading the poem, why a poem like the Lamb would be in such a work. The poem the Lamb is all about God. It poses the difficult yet simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When something, anything is created nobody knows what it will become. On January 20th, 1892 in Springfield, Massachusetts the game of basketball was born. Dr. James Naismith would be credited for creating the game of basketball during the winter months at a local YMCA. The game consisted of thirteen rules, nine of which are still in existence today. The final score of the first game was 1 0 with William Chase being credited with the first ever basket. There is no way anybody could tell that when Dr. Naismith created the game of basketball he thought it would turn into the game it is today. The game of basketball is pure representation of the lamb as the game was created from one man to give another man or woman something to do in his or her free time. The game was not created out of greed or jealousy it was purely for fun and something to do. The game of basketball is also the definition of creativity as the game continues to get more creative each and every day with players now going from just passing the ball to dribbling, shooting three point shots, and even dunks. When the game of basketball was in its earliest stages, there wasn t even a such thing as a basketball. It doesn t get much more creative than that. The first ever basketball was a soccer ball because Dr. Naismith did not even have enough money to create a new ball. It wouldn t be until two whole years later that the basketball was created. • 5. The Nature Of Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 By William... William Shakespeare is recognized for being one of greatest poets of all time. His works are still popular to this day. Many of his works included extended metaphors and similes with rhetorical language and were rooted in the nature of love. Two of his poems that are rather alike, but also very contrastive are Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? and My mistresses eyes are nothing like the sun. They both contain a core theme of love or anti love in some aspects. While these two poems are built around the same type of subject, their interpretations come across in separate ways. In contrast to Shakespeare s Sonnet 18 which is a serious love poem that contains imagery and metaphors, Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 is more negative and humorous but contains imagery and similes. Overall, both of these poems fulfill the same motive. They were written to praise women, but the two use different methods for doing so. In Sonnet 18 , Shakespeare compares his lover with the negative aspects of summer stating /Thou art more lovely and more temperate/ (2). On the other hand in Sonnet 130 , Shakespeare compares his mistress to the good qualities of acquisitive things to show how even though she is not perfect, she is still important to him. He vows by heaven (13) that the feelings he has for his mistress are as rare /As any she belied with false compare/ (14). The messages delivered by the two poems are very unique. In Sonnet 18 , the woman being described is perfect and does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of The Book Jim Crow On Trial The book Jim Crow on Trial is very much centered around subjects of justice and fairness. As it follows a real court case, if must do so. The boys suffer through a time of unfair and often cruel treatment. They are accused by 2 white girls, tried by bias and racist juries, and finally, thrice convicted of rape and sentenced to death. In their last trial, some had their charges dropped, and others received only life in prison. Those in prison eventually left on parole. Only one of the boys was pardoned pre mortem, the rest pardoned 80 years after being accused. So could one honestly say they received justice? Or is there a time limit on this? I believe so, and I don t think they got the justice due to them. To answer the question of did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two facts allow one to state with confidence that at the beginning of the book, the boys were treated unfairly. Towards middle of the book is when justice becomes an important aspect. As we move into the court, we truly get to see all of the unfair moments and unjust components of both the trial and the case. Directly following their trial, their given sentence (death at the electric chair for all but one, who was sentenced to life in prison) was overturned. This coming after the Communist Party of America talked about this case, calling it, American injustice , and asserting that, the Negroes are wholly innocent of the crimes for which they were sentenced. . This shows that there was injustice in their trial, as the CPA chose to say. As the story goes on, they go through multiple other trials, each resulting in a sentence of either death or life in prison. In the end, they are given their final sentence. A compromise lead to 2 of the boys (the youngest) being set free, though not pardoned. They went to New York. As for the rest of the boys? They were locked away, and each eventually released on parole. This is excluding Patterson, who was given life in prison, which he eventually escaped. One of the boys, Norris eventually formally requested a pardon. It was accepted by George Wallace, who was as the book said, best known for being an ardent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every country has its own unique legal system. However, we can allocate among them three main legal systems. These are: Civil Law, Common Law and Islamic Law. Civil and Common Laws are the most influential legal systems in the world, especially in its Western part. All three of these legal systems have existed and developed for many centuries. Further will follow the description of the historically appearance of each legal system separately. Civil legal system is considered to be the oldest and the most widespread one. It also known as Continental, Roman or Romano Germanic law. In general, Roman law consists of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Equity deals with situations by applying notions of good sense and fairness .[4] (Elliott, C Quinn, F, 1996).The law is dominantly created by judge and often without checking the legislation, only by drawing analogy the previous similar cases. This moment shows the difference of the legislators in civil law and in common law. In the civil law, judges should apply the law, which was created by the legislator, on the basis of separation of powers. On the other hand, in common law the judge is given the power to create the law. Another difference between civil and common law system is the force of precedents. In civil law system, the court decides the particular cases according to the legislation and legal norms. But in the common law the courts are supposed not only to solve the cases, but also give an example of how similar cases have to be solved in the future. This means, that decisions, which are made by higher level courts in a specific areas are binding the lower ones to follow them. This makes the court in the common law the basis of legislation. Court procedures are also differentiating in both civil and common legal systems. We all know that at the court two parties cooperate by presenting their evidence to each other. Civil legal system has an inquisitorial procedure. In inquisitorial procedure the judge is the active person, who also takes more investigative role. Common law countries use the accusatorial system, which is also known as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Artemision Bronze was said to be created around 460 B.C.E, also known as the Classical Period where Greek Sculptures began to transform into realistic human forms along with the rise of Democracy and the fall of the Aristocratic culture. The Chinese government has spent more than 40 years trying to slow their population growth. They have done so through their controversial one child policy. There is no denying that China s one child policy changed the lives of Chinese citizens when it the Chinese Communist Party [CCP] in 1979 as a way of controlling population. Under Mao, the government encouraged families to have as many children as possible, believing that a strong nation grew out of a large population. By 1976, the population grew from 540 million people in 1949 to 940 million. The rapid increase in population stretched the resources that the CCP could provide to the people. The government believed that a population control policy was the only way they prevent the population from experiencing another dramatic increase in size . The CCP hoped that the policy would alleviate some of the social and economic pressure an increasing population created, and the policy has worked. According to data collected by the World Bank, China s birth rate has fallen from 2.63 in 1980 to 1.217 as of 2014, preventing an estimate two hundred to four hundred million births . • 16. Differences Of Ibn Battuta And Marco Polo Alexis Segura HIST 103 The Similar Journeys of Two Very Different Men Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo were travelers who documented their experiences. These records of their journeys give modern day historians a way of knowing what things were like in those time periods. In The Travels of Marco Polo, The Venetian, the life of a young Italian man exploring a foreign country is explained. Similarly, Ibn Battuta shared his experiences in A Donation to Those Interested in Curiosities . These two men share similar experiences, but in different situations and each perceive their experiences differently. Marco Polo was a merchant in Venice, Italy when he left home in 1271 to travel to the Mongolian ruled area of China. Polo made his trip to China by way of the Silk Road. When Polo arrived in China, he met the emperor, Kublai Khan, whom he described as a fine middle size...a beautiful fresh complexion...his eyes dark and fine... (Polo 102). During his time in China, Polo learned four different languages and became a favorite of Khan. It is evident that Polo was somewhat fascinated with the king. He spoke extremely highly of the king and his court. Polo could have spoken this way simply because he was truly captivated by the king, or perhaps because he was afraid to speak lowly of him. The emperor appointed Polo to his court and sent Polo on missions for the kingdom. Polo s stories of his missions seem a bit exaggerated and repetitive, but he could have told them this way to shed light on difficult situations. He may have wanted people to have a good perception of what other parts of the world were like. This could have been for selfish reasons or possibly just to spare people of the ugly things he had seen. The detail of Polo s stories suggests that he was truly enthralled by the places he d traveled, as well as the king s palace. Although Polo seemed in awe of the Mongolian empire, he eventually decided it was time to go home. Polo s travels were not the safest, as he encountered many pirates and even lost six hundred men to the sea. When Polo eventually made it home, he was greeted with a war and soon thrown in prison where he would tell his stories and be put to death. Polo could have told these stories so wildly just ... Discipline is not easy, in fact, it is hard, but the results are what we discipline ourselves for. Celebration of Discipline was a very eye opening and insightful book in many aspects. Foster, the author, describes spiritual discipline as an inward and outward reality. Meaning, the inner and outward attitude of the discipline. The bible uses spiritual discipline to describe fasting, prayer, worship, and even celebration. When Jesus spoke of spiritual discipline, he hardly gives instruction of how to discipline ourselves spiritually. There are three types of disciplines discussed in this book, along with many sub categories within each type. All these groups are used to help one form a more well rounded spiritual life. The types are inward, outward, and corporate discipline. Inward discipline is a type of discipline that focuses on your inner self/spiritual life. This involves things like praying, meditation, fasting, and studying. Outward disciple is more of what you can do as an individual to discipline yourself spiritually, such as simplicity, solitude, submission, and service. A pitiful example of how humans can treat each other under the right conditions. The lynching, torture and outright cold blooded murder of African Americans in the USA. This behaviour was evident (mostly within the South) after the influential Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896 onward, up until the Civil Rights movements which managed to squash much of the institutional discrimination. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The injustices served to the Black community were fought, often lost, but nevertheless fought. The African Americans of the South were being stripped of their right to a fair and just trial to degrade African Americans as a people. We see this in the many trials which unjustly convicted innocent African Americans, To Kill a Mockingbird does a great job at illustrating this, Harper Lee uses Tom Robinson along with a clearly obvious court case (in favour of Tom) to clearly show the extreme bias within the courts, as Tom does not receive the respect, or consideration of the White jurors or prosecutor (with Tom, in turn, being sentenced to death when he is clearly innocent). Harper wanted to show that, while Blacks were being given their constitutional right to a fair trial, these trials, were far from fair, they were a despicable combination of Kangaroo Court and Show Trialing and the book helped bring this fact to light for many northern readers whom may not come across such information otherwise. But there were many triumphs as well, the court case known as Brown v. Board of Education , one of the most influential cases in all of civil rights history. It proved that Blacks are still resilient to the discrimination within their society and that change, especially in regards to education (one of the most important parts of one s life). Brown v. Board of Education led to the end of segregated schools in the U.S., ruling them to be unconstitutional, overriding the ruling of Plessy v. Research has shown that chronic pain negatively impacts an individual s ability to maintain social connections (Lennon, Link, Marbach, Dohrenwend, 1989), employment and ability to undertake activities of daily living (Andersson, 1999). Chronic pain is significantly related to a range of mental health difficulties, as well as reduced subjective well being. This technique is called structural equation modeling (SEM). This is where latent variables are formed from item scores, the former of which becomes the unit analyzed. Despite her loss and severe medical conditions, she was able to recover and run for the Mayor of Toronto. I will be bringing up Marjane Satrapi s background, Marji s family in the book, and the environment that the novel takes place in to help prove my point. The Persian Culture affects the novel Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, this is shown in the novel through characters like Marji, her mother, and her grandmother. Even though this novel took place in Iran, many Persian inspired themes occur. In the graphic novel Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi explores Persian culture and implements it throughout the book. This is done through her values, education, and her pride. Satrapi was born in Rasht, Iran, and is of Gilak and Turkic origin. She experienced childhood in Tehran in a white collar class ... Ladies had numerous confinements that disparaged them as residents. The Tehran Militant Clergy, was to a great degree strict about ensuring natives were following the Islamic laws. The Islam religion powers ladies to wear veils, called a hijab, to cover their heads and parts of their faces and necks. There are many different reasons for why ladies in the Islam religion wear the hijab. A few Muslims trust that the hijab is worn in light of the fact that God expects ladies to cover their hair. In Persepolis, Satrapi demonstrates to us that most ladies didn t appreciate wearing the shroud and were not steady of the predominant demeanor of men. A Good Man Is Hard To Find and Good Country People are two short stories written by Flannery O Connor during her short lived writing career. Despite the literary achievements of O Connor s works, she is often criticized for the grotesqueness of her characters and endings of her short stories and novels. Her writings have been described as understated, orderly, unexperimental fiction, with a Southern backdrop and a Roman Catholic vision, in defiance, it would seem, of those restless innovators who preceded her and who came into prominence after her death (Friedman 4). A Good Man Is Hard To Find and Good Country People are both set in the South, and O Connor explores the tension between the old and new South. The stories are tow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... O Connor describes the children s mother in contrast to the grandmother by what they are wearing; thus their clothes represent the age from which they are. The Children s mother still had on slacks and still had her head tied up in a green kerchief, but the grandmother had on navy blue straw sailor hat with a bunch of white dot in the print (O Connor 118). The children s mother is representative of the New South in which the Southern Lady is becoming less of a central figure within society. A lady of the old south would never wear slacks and tie her hair up in a kerchief to go out in public. Under an old south mentality these actions would be considered very unlady like. O Connor illustrates the tension between the old and the new south by the constant struggle between the grandmother, her son, and the daughter in law. O Connor also poses the contrast between the old and new South in her short story Good Country People . Mrs. Hopewell and Mrs. Freeman represent the old South because of the way in which they carry themselves and their traditional beliefs and values. Mrs. Freeman works for Mrs. Hopewell who states the reason for her keepin her so long was that they were not trash. They were good country people (O Connor 272). Mrs. Hopewell describes Mrs. Freeman and her two daughters as two of the finest girls she knew and Mrs. Freeman was a lady and that she was never ashamed to take her anywhere or introduce her to anybody they might mett (O Connor ... The Mandate Of Heaven Dbq Around the year 1046 BCE, King Wu, of the province of Zhou, rebelled against King Zhou of Shang and defeated his forces at the Battle of Muye, establishing the Zhou Dynasty (c. 1046 256 BCE). 1046 771 BCE marks the Western Zhou Period while 771 226 BCE marks the Eastern Zhou Period. The Mandate of Heaven was invoked by the Duke of Zhou, King Wu s younger brother, to legitimize the revolt as he felt the Shang were no longer acting in the interests of the people. The Mandate of Heaven was thus defined as the gods blessing on a just ruler and rule by divine mandate. When the government no longer served the will of the gods, that government would be overthrown. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduction After the signing of the Convention on Biological Diversity in the United Nations Congress on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, a number of development projects addressing the theme of biodiversity has considerably increased. Many of these projects have been channeled through the Global Environment Facility (GEF) or other international agencies. Also, many bilateral projects have seen light. In the aftermath of the signing of the Convention the Peruvian Government approached the Finnish Government in 1995 with a proposal of a technical assistance project to assess the biological diversity of Peruvian Amazonia and to assist Peru in developing a national strategy for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in that region a requirement of the Convention. This request was a result of a long term research engagement between Peru and Finland through institutional cooperation between Peruvian institutions and universities and the University of Turku in Finland. This cooperation had already produced valuable new insights to assessment of biodiversity in Peruvian Amazonia (Kalliola et al. 1993, Tuomisto et al. 1995, Ruokolainen et al. 1997, Kalliola Flores 1998). In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses characterization to express that passion and honesty are the keys to achieving social justice. Harper Lee presents the idea that passion is revealed when someone stands up for what is right even when others think it is wrong. Atticus s character reinforces his passion when he goes against what everyone else believes. Although Atticus knows he will not win, he does his best to defend Tom Robinson saying, Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win (p.101). From the first moment the air of the place made us uneasy, we felt irritable, on edge; then at the end came the shocking business of Cipolla, that dreadful being who seemed to incorporate, in so fateful and so humanly impressive a way, all the peculiar evilness of the situation as a whole. Looking back, we had the feeling that the horrible end of the affair had been preordained and lay in the nature of things; that the children had to be present at it was an added impropriety, due to the false colours in which the weird creature presented himself. Even in the before and after seasons Torre is not empty, but life is less national and more subdued. English, French, and German prevail under the tent awnings and in the pension dining rooms; whereas in August in the Grand Hotel, at least, where, in default of private addresses, we had engaged rooms the stranger finds the field so occupied by Florentine and Roman society that he feels quite isolated and even temporarily déclassé. We had, rather to our annoyance, this experience on the evening we arrived, when we went in to dinner and were shown to our table by the waiter in charge. As a table, it had nothing against it, save that we had already fixed our eyes upon those on the veranda beyond, built out over the water, where little red shaded lamps glowed and there were still some tables empty, though it was as full as the dining room within. The children went into raptures at the festive sight, and without more ado we announced our intention to take our meals by preference in the veranda. Our words, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ABSTRACT Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays an important role in stimulating the growth potentials and providing stability to the economy of Saudi Arabia. Our findings show that there are mainly four factors which determine the net FDI flow to Saudi Arabia. These are GDP, Privatization, Import and Export and Growth rate of GDP. The fifth section provides the details of the results and final section presents the main conclusions and recommendations. 2. LITERATURE REVIEW Estimates reported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD,1997) suggest that several countries have experienced very rapid growth of the private sector during the transition period. A number of studies have suggested that investment and growth in developing economies is positively associated with indicators of openness and export promotion (Balasubramanyam et al., 1996). Such findings may suggest that investors prefer countries with relatively liberal trade regimes and few constraints on profit repatriation, possibly within regions with wider supra national free trade arrangements. De Mello (2000) analyzed the time series and panel data for 32 OECD and non OECD countries for the period 1970 90. He estimated the impact of FDI on capital accumulation and output growth in the recipient economy supporting the FDI led growth hypothesis. Similarly, Soto (2000); Alfaro, Chanda, Kalelmi Ozcan, Sayek (2004); Li and Liu (2005) found positive impact of FDI on GDP growth. They all used FDI measure as percentage of GDP. Liu et al. (2002) examined the long run relationship between economic growth, FDI and trade in China. A study on the quarterly data for imports, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Examples Of The American Dream In Gran Torino In today s day and age, it would be very difficult to find someone who has not heard of the American dream. Although most people have heard of the American dream, if you were to ask a couple people what the phrase means to them, there would probably be very different responses. With all the various interpretations of the American dream out there, it has probably become somewhat difficult to truly understand the meaning behind the phrase. However, no film better portrays what the American dream is than Gran Torino. In Gran Torino, it is shown that the American dream is much more than owning large amounts of material objects, but rather being able to live happily in America, and that is a goal that anyone can reach, no matter the race or gender. As long as they are willing to travel down a potentially hard road and put in the work, the American dream is attainable. Sometimes on the path of achieving the American dream, it can be easy to forget what the American dream truly is, and make the mistake of believing that wealth equates to being successful a person. Almost all of the characters in Gran Torino are materialistic in their own way. A great example is Walt, who primarily cares about his car, a material possession which also represents the American dream. The American pragmatist, he fixes things as well as finishes things. He spends a lifetime accumulating the tools in his garage, material goods, naming them and knowing how they work. (Alpert) Even though Walt and his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
