Sport Psychology Consultant Philosophy
The philosophy that a sport psychology consultant adopts breathes life into their work. It puts flesh
on bone and gives the knowledge base that the consultant has already acquired a thumping heart and
a living soul, providing significance and application to the knowledge acquired in their training.
Most importantly, the philosophy that a consultant adopts makes their work important to them and
to their clients while giving them the opportunity to develop self confidence. As I consider what I
want my consulting philosophy to be, I want to keep in mind that I am the type of person that
always wants to be learning. Sport psychologyis an ever developing occupation where there is

Assessments are valuable because not only do they give the consultant a starting point in their
treatment plan, but it could also be beneficial for an athlete to see where they began and where
they are as the sessions progress. As McCann, Jowdy, and Van Raalte (2002) also point out, it is
important that you have in writing you has access to the assessments and who can view them to
keep any potential confidentiality issues at bay. Confidentiality is also something that will need
to be addressed if a coach is hiring me for his client or a parent his hiring me for their young
athlete. One thing that Dr. Carr, an alumnus of the program, taught me in an interview I did with
him for our introduction to counseling class last year is to always have confidentiality outlined
in your contract. For example, Dr. Carr says that when the front office or the coach keeps
consistently asking what is going on in sessions even though he has explained confidentiality
issues, he can default to his own contract and explain that he can be fired and he is not willing to
risk that. He also says that if the athlete wishes to share with the coach, what the athlete is willing
to share, when, and to whom is outlined in a written consent. In addition, Dr. Carr says he also
makes it a point to receive verbal consent as well. It will also need to be made known to the athlete

Watson And Crick What Is Life Summary
The quest for deoxyribonucleic acid was a search that had drawn out for quite a long time. The
fame for the discovery of the structure of the double helix belonged to Watson and Crick, for they
had debunked the mystery in 1953. Their finding denoted a milestone in the history of science. It
also set the path for future biology studies. This study like all others, began with a solitary idea, a
single experiment, which sparked future generations to follow the same path. This follows the fact
that the scientific methodis not linear, it is circular. Utilizing this, the two researchers, Watson and
Crick, began with a purpose, collected background research on the topic, and created a hypothesis
which led them to results that may or may not have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While both John Watson and Francis Crickdid not start out the task of uncovering the structure of
DNA, they both eased into it. At the time of my arrival, Francis theories spread far beyond the
confines of protein crystallography. Anything important would attract him (9). A major factor in
his leaving physics and developing an interest in biology has been the reading in 1946 of What is
Life? by the noted theoretical physicist Erwin SchrИЌdinger (13). This demonstrates that while
Crick did leave physics, he did it for a reason. After reading the novel, he was inspired to start a
new science life. Instead of focusing on protein crystallography, the book s ideology moved
Crick s attention to DNA. It was Wilkins who had first excited me about X ray work on DNA...
My interest in DNA had grown out (21). This indicates how Watson commenced his search on
DNA. Although not stated outright, Watson got his ideas from Wilkin. He had observed Maurice
s words and from this, he began to question and became intrigued. The same is applicable to
Francis. He embarked on the path of DNA because of the book What is Life?, which shows that it
must have sparked inquiries, since he developed an interest in biology and then acted upon it with
Watson alongside

Comparing My Poetry And Alfred Lord Tennyson
What makes a poet great? What is it that makes their poetry weather the ravenous jaws of critics
and stand the test of time? I ask myself this as I look at my own poetry, wondering if it too could
withstand the harsh beatings many a poet s work has been through. I wonder if I could measure
up to one of the greats, which is why I have chosen to compare and contrast my works and style of
poetrywith that of the famous Alfred Lord Tennyson. I would like to show how our styles, themes,
and poetic influences differ from while showing a few similar traits they have. To start off I will
compare Tennyson s poem Tears, Idle Tears to my poem Monday Morning, Sunday Mourning. The
main themes of both poems are about reminiscing about events that... Show more content on

These sentences often don t follow any specific meter, if they do it is most likely by accident.
The rhyme is more often than not end rhyme. I write the poems to tell a story, but I don t want it
to be completely free verse which is where the end rhyme comes in. I don t usually have any
concrete rhyme scheme so that way I can reach a more diverse range of content without having
to worry about not having words to rhyme. Tennyson s however was very gifted at understanding
rhyme and meter, which allowed him to use many different styles when writing his poems. In
some poems Tennyson would use a simple style while in others he would employ a more
complex style to increase the depth of the poem. Furthermore, Tennyson s time period influenced
his poetry heavily as well. During this time there were a lot of scientific advancements were
occurring. Theses advancements however clashed with some religious beliefs. Tennyson s poetry
allowed him to navigate the rift that had been created between scientific advancement and
religion. Tennyson was also influenced by the other major events of the time, which allowed his
poems to be relevant all the while they could still be applicable for years to come. It was these
influences that allowed Tennyson to craft his most famous works such as Ulysses, The Charge of
the Light Brigade, In Memoriam A.H.H., The Lady of Shallot, and many more,. Tennyson was also

The Chemicals of the Super Bowl Cory Barnett HSM 320: Emergency Response to Terrorism

a prime place where thousands of people come to celebrate, party and get together with others
for an exceptional good time. All it would take is for one terrorist attack to change all that in the
matter of minutes. The amount of mass confusion and mass injuries that could happen would be
completely on the terrorist s side but just how easy would this be to complete? However, there is
a plan in place for incidents like this and many more and I will be taking a look at one in particular,
a chemical attack at the Super Bowl. The scenario is Hydrogen... Show more content on

As more cyanide is absorbed, consciousness is lost, respiration decreases in rate and frequency,
and seizures, cessation of breathing, and disturbances in heart rate and rhythm follow. After
inhalation of a high concentration of vapor, seizures can occur within 30 seconds, and cessation
of breathing and disturbances of cardiac rhythm follow. Death occurs in 6 to 10 minutes after
exposure. (Maniscalco amp; Christen, 2011) Being that the Super Bowl security would be
considered a Level 1 national security type of event, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
takes over security of the entire event. (Jessop, 2013) The FBI has operated a central Joint
Operations Center (JOC) during the Super Bowl for several years now and it consists of many
government agencies all in one center, therefore making communication much easier among all the
agencies. Inside, there for many work stations for each agency and wall monitors that show
surveillance camera views, television news broadcasts, Law Enforcement Online s Virtual
Command Center website that tracks security incidents and can be accessed remotely by any law
enforcement member and other intelligence information. The list of agencies that would be

Department of Defense (DOD), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms

Physical education (often abbreviated Phys. Ed. or P.E.) or gymnastics(gym or gym class) is a
course taken during primary and secondary educationthat encourages psychomotor learning in a
play or movement exploration setting. Physical education trends have developed recently to
incorporate a greater variety of activities. Introducing students to activities like bowling, walking
/hiking, or Frisbee at an early age can help students develop good activity habits that will carry over
into adulthood. Some teachers have even begun to incorporate stress reduction techniques such as
yoga and deep breathing. Teaching non traditional sports to students may also provide the necessary

It is, however, important to note that many school budgets have seen cutbacks and in some
cases physical education programs have been cut. Technology use in physical education New
technology in Physical education is playing a big role in classes. One of the most affordable and
effective would be a simple tape recorder. With the use of a tape recorder students can see the
mistakes they re making in things such as a throwing motion or swinging form[4]. Studies show
that students do find this more effective than having someone just telling them what they are
doing wrong and trying to correct it. Educators also found the use of other technologies such as
pedometers and heart rate monitors very successful, using them to make step and heart rate
goals for students. Other technologies that can be used in a Physical Education setting would
include projectors, GPS and even gaming systems such as Kinect for XBOX360, Wii Fit and
Dance Dance Revolution. Projectors can be used to show students things such as proper form or
how to play certain games. GPS systems can be used to get students active in an outdoor setting
and active exergames can be used by teachers to show students a good way to stay fit in and out of
the classroom setting[7] Another type of technology that is commonly used in Physical Education
is the use of pedometers. Pedemeters do not necessarily track how far a person is going, but it lets
them know the number of steps they are making. It

community with HIV shown on television. This chapter covers a study about Gay undergraduate
males and the way it makes sense of HIV and its storyline on television. The study draws from
the fictional television series Queer as Folk, one of the highest rated programs on cable television.
First, the chapter begins by explaining the series Queer as Folk. This series is one wear lesbian and
gaymen and women live their lives, work, have good and bad days. During this series they do not
show HIV as a one time special occurrence, but as filtrated into the lives of the characters. During
the series loved ones were lost, and they discussed prevention. According to the text, there were

focus group members felt that shows like this help people understand that people living with

possibility of death or illness (Dines and Humez). Ultimately, the focus group recognized though
they were initially entertained, they could appreciate education of the aspects of gay culture

storylines are presented. I will admit this summary took me a little bit out of my comfort zone. I do

Political Structure Of The Government
Political Structure According to the Library of Congress, [t]he Algerian government is a multi party
republic with a constitution and a strong presidency. There are three branches of government
including a legislative, executive, and judicial branch. The president has a considerable amount of
power. He can appoint or dismiss the prime minister, act as the commander in chief of the armed
forces, and more. Currently the president is Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been in office since
1999. Ideally, there is a presidential election every 5 years, with a limit of 2 terms per president.
However, it seems as if President Bouteflika is not going to abide by that provision (Country

Every 5 years, they elect representatives for the legislature as well as for the president (Country
Profile, Algeria 18). According to Election Guide, a service provided by the International
Foundation for Election Systems, a non profit funded by USAID, Algeria s president is elected
by absolute majority vote through a two round system[.]) The Council of the Nation has 96
members who are elected through an electoral college, while 48 members are appointed by the
President. They serve 6 years regardless of if they re elected or appointed. The National People s
Assembly (APN) is filled by a closed list proportional representation system. Members of the APN
serve in 5 year terms (IFES). Political Parties For much of its inception, the FLN maintained
political dominance in Algeria. In fact, the first constitution of Algeria outlawed political
competition. In 1990, the first elections with a plurality of parties took place. There was the
Islamist FIS party, the pro Berber socialist party (FFS), and another pro Berber party called the
RCD. As mentioned previously, the Islamist party and a civil war ensued (Laskier). In the previous
2012 elections, the National Liberation Front (FLN) won with a majority of 17.35%. Other major
contenders included the National Democratic Rally (RND; 6.86% of the votes), the Green
Algeria Alliance (AAV; 6.22% of the votes), and the Socialist Forces Front (FFS; 2.47 of the
votes) The results of the election gave 208 seats to the FLN, 68 seats

A Study Of Ecology And Its Effects On The Environment
Competition in ecosystems has become central to the study of ecology, and has been implicated as
a major factor behind the patterns of species abundance and distribution. Though often studied
together, abundance and distribution are two distinct designations, abundance being the density of
a species in a given area, and the spatial arrangement of that species in an area is referred to as the
distribution (Brown, 1984). In ecological terms competition refers to a fight between two
organisms, of the same species or different, for a limiting resource, leading often to an adverse
effect on one or both organism (Birch, 1957). When one of the organisms in the competition out
competes the other for the desired resource this results in a negative... Show more content on

It is important to emphasize that exploitation and interference competition mechanisms can be
intraspecific or interspecific, thus are classified as real competition, while apparent competition is
typically only of the interspecific type (Birch, 1957). With that said, of all forms competition,
interspecific competition, the competition between two or more species, has been studied most
intensively as cause behind patterns of distribution and abundance within populations of species.
However, there has been much disagreement regarding the prominence of interspecific competition
in natural environment, and whether it actually effects the abundance and distribution of species. In
this paper the history and application of interspecific competition, along with a common model
used to illustrate it will be evaluated, through their use in various ecological researches.
History of Interspecific Competition Though the study of ecology is a relatively new science, the
earliest records of competition in biology and in the environment can be traced back to Charles
Darwin (Park, 1954). Darwin, the father evolution, placed great emphasis on the importance of
competition, specifically interspecies competition, in the process of natural selection and species

The Dangers Of Teen Driving
Introduction Teen driving allows American youth to have their license between the ages 13 15.
At this age, our American youth are more likely to be careless while driving without supervision.
The younger teen drivers are the more susceptible to fatal car accidents they will be due to the
lack of supervision and proper driver s education. Lack of maturity and experiences leads to
developing poor drivinghabits. The teens in the age group 16 18 are usually more mature in
handling a motorized vehicle. States that allow 13 15 year old teens drive are more likely to get in
more car crashes from driving earlier and not having enough experience.
Theoretical Basis: Conflict Perspective The conflict perspective best explains the issue of young
teen driving and their high number of crashes. States in America believe that teens should practice
to get ready to pass the behind the wheel test. The more people practice behind the wheel, the better
they are at driving a motorized vehicle. So, it is important that teens received the best opportunity
they can with the behind the wheel driving supervisor in order to potentially reduce fatal car
crashes among teens in America.
Individualized instruction is different for each state for behind the wheel. Some states do not
have enough supervised hours which puts teens at the top of fatal crash rates. Individual states
that have about 40 or more supervised hours and have lower crash rates are for example, the state
of Minnesota. This state has 40 supervised hours for teens of which they have to log before they
are able to take the drivers test. ( The Children s Hospital...).
In Minnesota if the parents do not attend the drivers education meeting before the class starts
their child would have to log 50 hours before they turn 16 to take their driver s test. This helps
since Minnesota has 40 or more supervised hours to practice driving. Minnesota is in the first
group for not having fatal car crashes in teens. South Dakota has one of the worst teen fatal car
crash rates mostly because they have no supervised hours to meet before they take the behind the
wheel test. This demonstrate an example of the conflict theory because due to lack of resources a
conflict has occurred for

in a certain geological eras some animals should have transitioned from fish to amphibians. This
helped the scientists find just such fossils in that era. Old Earth seculars believe tree rings over
6000 years old, thick layers of limestone, and the sequence of animal fossils in rock layers are
evidence for an Old Earth view.
A description of the grand canyon rock layers would include the Colorado River running at the
bottom of the inner gorge with flats on both sides which consist of tapeat sandstone layers.
There is also the Vishnu Complex, consisting of rocks that have been changed by heat and are
buried at the lowest layers. These are tilted and are called the Grand Canyon Supergroup the

Education In Education
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. While education
can be powerful it can be dangerous in the wrong hands and if not used properly. Public education
can be used to help people, how misunderstandings can be related back to the lack of education,
and how lack of educationcan fuel the fires of terrorism and extremism. Malala s life was affected
by other people s misunderstandings and modern extremism. The first goal is to show people why
public education matters and that brings us the readers, to the first topic. The main goal of public
education is to prepare students for higher education. Without higher education world producers
wouldn t have the skilled workers required to make their plants run. Without factories or educated
people we have no money or new product. If the teachers that help put educated workers in plants
are not taught the correct things from the beginning, then they in turn teach people the wrong
information pertaining to their jobs causing mass work accidents. That is how education is needed
in the world and how it can be blinding if not taught correctly. According to, Education in the
Middle Eastand North Africa , (MENA) or Middle East and North Africa, has taken great strides
in education. It has quadrupled the average level of schooling since 1960, halved illiteracy since
1980 and achieved almost complete gender parity for primary education. Net enrolment ratios

Murder Mystery Play Research Paper
INITIAL REACTION GENERAL RESPONSE Choosing a play was definitely not easy, in fact,
it was probably the hardest part of this project for me. I am usually not one to dig into and enjoy
plays very much. I am more of a musical theater person, I love to sing and dance. However, when
this project was assigned I chose to think open mindedly and chose something a little bit out of
my comfort zone. Instead of picking a musical I love like Annie , Legally Blonde , or Hamilton.
I chose a murder mystery play called The Mousetrap. Going into the process I had a pretty good
idea of what the play was about, because I had seen it when Oconomowoc High School did it for
their senior directed play in 2015, and then I also saw it again in December of that year with my
drama class when the Milwaukee Rep did it. When I first say the play I loved it! I was so
intrigued from the very beginning and all the way to the last second. That very night that I saw
the show I went home and looked it on youtube and started to watch it again, and to be honest I
rewatched it several times since then. After seeing it I started promoting the show, and I went and
told all of my friends that it was something they had to go see and that it was written so brilliantly!

An Experiment On The Water Of Water
Abstract
No matter how water came to exist on Earth, there is no denying that it has become the basis for
life as we know it. From the largest animal, to the smallest microbe, water is essential. Microbes,
in particular, have made water their homes and their diversity within these freshwater aquatic
habitats was tested in this experiment and the hypothesis put forward was that cleaner water,
pond B, contained a higher biodiversity as compared to dirty water. Water from two different
freshwater ponds, A and B, was collected and placed in beakers, six slides of each water sample
were prepared carefully and methyl cellulose was added so the movement of microbes could be
inhibited. The entire section under the cover slip was viewed and no area was left out of view,
this was done by using an overlap of view method. Organisms spotted were identified using a key
and the names and numbers recorded. After all observations, a table was created and further
information was extracted from the table and put into graphs. It was found that dirty water
contained a high biodiversity than cleaner water and the original hypothesis put forward was
rejected.
Introduction
The origin of water on Earth remains a hotly debated topic among the scientific community. The
most widely accepted theory is that millions of years after the Earth was formed, the planet was
bombarded by numerous comets and asteroids (Earth Investigated, 2008) and water, in the form of
ice was released into the atmosphere and

How Did Charles Lindbergh Influence The World
Throughout the history of the human race, there have always been individuals who stood out from
the rest of mankind. These people were most often than not, pioneers, adventurers, men and women
who were seemingly ahead of their time. These people led the way towards the advancement of the
society as a whole.
Some used the influence they gained to continue to relentlessly pursue whatever they first became
famous for, while others used their influence to sway the minds of the public in other matters.
There were those who bathed in the spotlight as well as those who hid from it. But one thing can
be sure of, these people definitely left a lasting mark in history. One such person was Charles
Lindbergh.

His arrival was met with more than a hundred thousand local spectators who had come to witness
aviation history in the making. His successful solo transatlantic flight made him into an instant
celebrity causing people to crowd around him wherever he went. It also earned him countless
prestigious honors such as the Distinguished Flying Cross medal from Calving Coolidge who was
then the US president.
With his new found fame, Lindbergh spent much of his time in promoting the aviation field
while going around the United States with his iconic plane the Spirit of St. Louis. While visiting
various cities in the US, he would participate in countless parades as well as give speeches. His
fame grew to such height that he was soon regarded as an international celebrity who was
nicknamed Lucky Lindy and The Lone Eagle . By 1927 he released a book entitled We , about his
historic flight which quickly became a bestseller. Throughout all his rising fame and influence,
Lindbergh had always stuck to helping the aviation industry as well as other causes which he felt
important.
On another such instance, Charles Lindbergh had completed a goodwill trip from the US to
Mexico where he met the US Ambassador s daughter, Anne Morrow. A few months later in 1929
Lindbergh had married Morrow who he would teach how to fly airplanes. The two would

The Cuban Missile Crisis
Explanation: Like what it is said. North Korea can and will be a threat, and we need to keep a
close watch on them before it is too late. Everybody needs to be ready. Kim Jong Un looks like an
innocent man but behind closed doors, that is where he is most dangerous. He can be planning and
preparing an attack that nobody even know.
Topic Sentence: The Cuban missile was a crazy time. It happened some fifty years ago when John
F. Kennedy was president. It was when one of U.S. spy plane caught Soviet Union trying to sneak
some nuclear missiles into Cuba that was ninety miles off the United States coast. Soon enough
president Kennedy had to talk to one of their leaders about what are they doing with the missiles
and if they do not remove it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Topic Sentence: the other reason to why not all nations have access to nuclear weapons, is
because there are some countries that we know a little or not at all about what they are doing
with the nuclear weapons. Like in Iran, we do not know if they are making more nuclear weapons
or using it for medical purposes. Iran sixth president Mahmound Ahmadinejad, said that his country
has been a member of International Atomic Energy Agency for over thirty three years now.
Ahmadinejad said that the by law all agency guarantees him to use nuclear energy for peaceful
purposes only, but everybody knows that nuclear energy can be used the wrong way also. For what
it seems, there are possibilities that there are ways to make nuclear energy into bombs or just
weapons of mass destruction.
Evidence: This is why we should worry about Iran s missiles. Just last fall Washington and
European capital been involved in a long time bout with Iran nuclear diplomacy. In Washington,
they hope that there hopes will run high and the effort will help the threat posed by Tehran s
atomic ambitions. The diplomatic deal is not only to limit Iran s capability to build nuclear
weapons but to also deliver to them. United states thinks that Iran is not really a threat to us but
according to U.S. intelligence assessments, Iran already have the most powerful missile in the
Middle East. They also have ballistic missiles that can be a

You Are Living The American Dream
Imagine you are a nineteen year old living in the USA. You are homecoming queen, smart, and

wealth: a large house, plenty of food, and a nice car. You are living the American dream. Now
imagine that you are again nineteen years old, but living in Uganda. You have little money, few

Money that was well deserved by the citizens was stripped away by a corrupt government. It was
a cycle: The parents could not afford an education. With no education means no job to pay bills.
They became homeless. Their children were forced to grow up in depravity, with no schooling
either, and thus begins the cycle anew. Katie Majors began to realize that the children who didn
t go to school simply couldn t afford the mere USD $20 that it costed. To the undernourished and
homeless families on the street, that was a fortune. Majors decided to change that. She started
Amazima Ministries, dedicated to providing school funds, hot meals, and the Gospel. Amazima
is still growing and prospering today. She began assisting those who were infected with diseases
such as AIDS and HIV, as well as helping care for the injured. Agnes, a young girl who fell prey to
injury, had been the sole provider of her family at just nine years old. She, and her sisters, Mary
and Scovia, were living alone when Majors found them. Their father had died of disease and their
mother had fled in fear of being a single parent. It was on a fateful day that their crumbling house
collapsed on Agnes. She was rushed to the hospital but was not treated. In Uganda, those who are
treated are only those who can pay. She had no money nor an adult to pay, so she simply lay on
the bed, waiting for medical care. Majors learned about the girl s situation and rushed to the hospital

My Most Defining Moment Analysis
It seems to me that our most defining moments happen on the most ordinary of days. What starts
out as yet another day at the office or at school, can hold some of the most radical changes to our
lives, and I think that is part of God s amazing power and beauty. We could be doing something
we had done hundreds of times before, in my case, playing soccer. I took a ball to the upper right
side of my face, around my eye, and the events that ensued helped me to realize God s plans for
my future degree path and thus, the rest of my life. My memories from the moments immediately
following the hit contradict slightly with those from my teammates and parents. While I thought
I felt fine and just squatted for a moment to clear my head before jogging off the field at my coach

The Use Of Symbolism In Paul s Case By Willa Cather
One of the finest forms of writing is the use of symbolism. This representation allows readers to
signify an object, person, situation or word with a feeling or idea. Symbolism is an illustration of
speech that is used when an author wants to form a certain mood or emotion. Readers find stories
easier to associate with when there is a symbolin which is relatable and a multiple uses of conflict
for attention grabbers. An example of symbolic imagery could be a bald eagle that represents
freedom to the United States. In literature, an author utilizes figures of speech, like metaphors and
allegory to explain the symbols being used.
In her story Paul s Case, Willa Cather provides a short story full of lies and defeat. The story takes
place firstly in Pittsburgh and later to New York, where a young man named Paul goes through life
feeling hopeless and fragile. Cather begins the story with Paul meeting his teachers in the
principles office while wearing a red carnation. To the teachers, the red carnation was not properly
significant of the contrite spirit befitting a boy under the ban of suspension (90). Through this
initial statement, analysis can be extended to include the story s frequent references to other
flowers, which also symbolize Paul s desires and mirror his disconnection from the world
(Crabtree). Cather s tone throughout the story is dry, factual, and a bit awkward. However, the
frequency of the awkward tone engulfs the reader and mandates constant attention

As a babysitter, I have never seen any set of parents who raise their kids the same way. Every
couple is going to discipline and raise their children differently. This is why child rearing is such
an interesting process. There are so many ways to raise a kid and each way might have the same
or completely different outcomes. I interviewed Jennifer Stein and asked her about her
disciplining practices and she explained to me how she believes it is important to make sure the
child is aware of the exact thing they did wrong and that they reflect on it and apologize. When

Spirit Possession
This week I have been struggling with centering my paper topic. I want to explore the use of
psychedelics in spirit possessions. More specifically, I want to explore the validity of drug
induced shamanistic experiences like in the case of Amazonian Shamans and their use of
Ayahuasca. But I keep running into the problem of shifting my focus into something that doesn t
feel, at least to me, like topics of spirit possession. This is why I have devoted most of my
research into attempting to define the type of spirit possession I am going to be talking about. I
ran across an article by Emma Cohen that tackles this very task, she states that there are two main
forms of possession. One is pathogenic which results from the operation possession concepts result
from the operation of cognitive tools that deal with the representation of contamination (both
positive and negative); the presence of the spirit entity is typically (but not always) manifested in
the form of illness. The other is executive, this type of possession mobilizes cognitive tools that
deal with the world of intentional agents; the spirit entity is typically represented as taking over the
host s executive control, or replacing the host s mind (or intentional agency), thus assuming control
of bodily behaviors. For the purposes of the paper, I think that I am going to be using both models.

The Cons Of Concealed Handgun
Handguns play a large part in crime, especially those that lead to fatal results. It has been the
subject of extensive policy and academic debate for the past few years in particular, as many
events leading to deaths occur in places many people consider safe zones. There are states that have
issued the right to have a concealed handgun in public, and other places that have tough systems for
even obtaining a license for gunownership. Some people believe carrying handguns in public will
help protect them in the long run if a dangerous situation occurs, while some others believe that
many dangerous situations occur from those that carry guns, becoming the threat in public. This
paper will examine the cons of allowing concealed handguns in public, along with analyzing
/rebutting some pros identified with this health topic, followed by a proposed public health policy
to address this important health topic. Statistically, it has been recorded that crimes such as
burglary, robbery, and simple assaults, were commonly conducted by non licensed handgun
holders, and crimes with larger death rates, such as sexual offenses were conducted by concealed
handgun licensed holders (Phillips 2013). This shows that increasing settings in which concealed
carry is allowed may also increase the rate of specific and sometimes serious crimes in the public. It
is also shown that those that commit crimes such as burglary and robbery, frequently have a gun
that is not even licensed to them. With

Theme of Love in Much Ado and Twelfth Night
AS English Literature Unit 2 (Coursework)
EXPLORATIVE STUDY
Shakespeare s Twelfth Night is studied and his Much Ado About Nothing is used to explore the
theme of love. Performances are referred to.
Shakespeare s romantic comedies explore love, the divine passion , in all its moods and intensities.
Most characters in these two plays are in love, find love or seek it. Twelfth Night, reputedly the
most mature of Shakespeare s romantic comedies, weaves several such love stories into an
intricate collage to explore different types of love and its easy descent into pain or folly.
John Gross, in a 1991 review of Twelfth Night in the Sunday Telegraph, said Twelfth Night is about
true love and its egocentric counterfeits. Orsino s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Viola Orsino and Benedick Beatrice loves are comparable, since both are constant, clear
eyed, and more based on a weathered and thorough understanding of each other than on mere
physical attraction theirs is the marriage of true minds . Even true love could be silly though, as
Kenneth Branagh, playing Benedick in his 1993 version, displays in his antics when bitten by the
lovebug; Newsweek, in a 1993 review of this adaptation, aptly judged it as portraying the absolute
absurdity and absurd absoluteness of love.
In comparison, though Claudio is genuinely attracted to Hero, his love seems fickle, jealous and
immature. Claudio, a sensible conventional wooer, first verifies Hero s social and financial
compatibility ( Hath Leonato any son...? ), but their relationship lacks trust and instinctive
understanding of each other. This is the reason Claudio believes Don John s intrigue, though
Hero, being sweet and submissive, remains true to him regardless of his treatment of her. Their
union therefore seems less sound than Beatrice and Benedick s and less acceptable to a modern
audience, which is probably why, in the 2005 Shakespeare Retold version of Much Ado, Hero
declines Claude s second offer.
Sebastian and Olivia s love too, though true, doesn t seem on par with the Viola Orsino and
Beatrice Benedick loves in terms of depth and appreciation of each other. Despite falling in love in

Although some years the value did decrease by a few percent, in 2012 the gross profit margin is the
highest it has ever been since the fruition of the business.
Net Profit Margin o In summary this analysis shows the percent of every dollar in sales that is
profit. As seen in Figure 1, in the Appendix, the boxes highlighted in red showcase the net profit
margin values. From 2007 lululemon has had growth in their net profit margin, which in summary
showcases their ability to be an efficient business resulting in increased profitability. From 2007,
with a net profit margin of 5% to a current net profit margin of 18% in 2012, lululemon is
essentially making $0.18 profit for every dollar in revenue.
Key Conclusions
Based off lululemon s comprehensive financial data, it shows continuous growth and stability in
revenue and profits. This fused with effective cost controlling measures allow for greater
profitability year to year. With lululemon s strategy primarily focusing on growing the store base
and filling those stores with differentiated products, it puts emphasis towards capital expenditures
being made by the organization. It can be assumed heavy efforts are being placed on Research and
Development, which adhere to luluemon s strategy of developing next generation fabrics that make
their products superior to competition.
Additional research would be toward the site selection of future lululemon corporate owned stores.

The most famous patriot at the time was probably the first President of the United States George
Washington who led the Continental Army. Other famous Patriots included Paul Revere, Samuel
Adams, Ethan Allen, Patrick Henry, and Ben Franklin. Or if you support the other side of the
argument here are some famous loyalists. Since the loyalists lost the war, there weren t as many
famous loyalists as there are Patriots. Benedict Arnold was a general in the Continental Army who
fought for the British. Another example of a loyalist was Joseph Galloway who was the
Pennsylvania delegate to the Continental Congress but later started to work for the British army.
Other famous loyalists could be Thomas Hutchinson (the governor of Massachusetts colony),
Andrew Allen, John Butler (the leader of the loyalist s troops Butler s Rangers), and David

Reflection Of Charcot Foot
A REFLECTION ON CHARCOT FOOT AND THE VARIOUS ORTHOTIC TREATMENT
THEREOF
Charcot foot is a condition in which the bones, joints, and soft tissues of the foot become
deformed, ensuing in a fully deformed foot and ankle. Due to the weakness of the bones, fractures
will develop as well as joint dislocation. It is most common in patients with peripheral neuropathy
who are unable to identify or feel the dislocation or fracture.
The peripheral neuropathy arises from Diabetes mellitus in most cases, but can also result from
poliomyelitis, excessive alcohol and drug abuse, mistreated infections, distress to the nerves, and
even Parkinson s disease. Neuropathy is nerve damage which results in no sensation in affected
areas. Another cause of Charcot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also known as offloading . Offloading is a non operative treatment option. The patient will
be required to use or wear a walking brace, an orthosis, a cast, or a protective splint. Another form
of non surgical treatment is a casting. Charcot can be treated by using a cast around affected area to
reduce swelling, protect the foot and ankle and to allow for healing to take place. When a patient
is in a cast he or she must not put weight on the cast as this could distort the healing process.
While in a cast, a patient can use a wheelchair or crutches to aid them for mobility in important
daily activities. Healing can last up to several months. However, the cast must be changed every
one to two weeks to ensure it fits the patient comfortably as the swelling diminishes. A custom
walking boot or orthosis, or a diabetic shoe may be recommended after the swelling is decreased
to normal and bones are healed fully. These boots are designed to minimize the risk of foot ulcers
developing post treatment. After the cast is removed, the patient will be prescribed to an orthotic
shoe that appropriately fits their foot and relieves pressure at certain points. Bracing can be
accompanied with an orthotic

companies ups and downs, as well as its struggles. Especially in the younger developmental years,

Overall, one upmanship can be deadly to both companies whom constantly try to outdo
themselves and also offer better prices. The primary reason why this can be deadly is by cutting
profit margins thinner and thinner. Ultimately price is what sells and item and not quality,
especially if the quality is marginal. You don t have to go far to see this classical struggle. Gas
stations are a prime example of one upmanship. Profit margins on gas are noted to be very thin. If
you consider gas station prices on neighboring stations, they are typically very close if not the
same. These stations have effectively locked themselves into a commitment to match or exceed
their competitor s price in order to draw higher sales, because ultimately what sells gas at
neighboring gas stations is the best price.
3.What actions would you recommend over the next five years that would help Gillette maintain its
worldwide dominance in the shaving market? What specific marketing program discussions would
you recommend? Should Gillette be worried about Schick? Explain.
Over the next five years, it is recommended that Gillette continue innovation. Innovation is key in

Dichotomy In The Godfather
The crime organization that originated in Italy continues to exert its dominance over mainstream
media. The organization s ability to consume individuals entirely and create its own lifestyle
coincides with the attribute of human nature that calls for a sense of belonging. This lifestyle has
been depicted in several different forms of media, such as literature and film, for several years. In
the film, The Godfather (1974), Francis Ford Coppola introduces the dichotomy of Don Vito
Corleone, the sadistic, cruel mob leader, yet protective, compassionate father and husband. The
ideals of family values and tradition are so neatly interwoven into this obscene lifestyle that it is
nearly impossible to disassociate the two. Therefore, Don Corleone,... Show more content on

He is the loving father who will support his children under any and all circumstances, the father

as the boss. In his essay, The Thematic Paradigm, Robert B. Ray argues that such two sided
characters seemed particularly designed to appeal to a collective American imagination steeped in
myths of inclusiveness in order to captivate a more complex society (Ray 377). The complication
of taking on the roles of father and mob boss begin with the form of business mob families conduct.
Involvement in several forms of illegal activity such as gambling, prostitution, and drug trafficking

Theme Of The Revolution In The Minerva
Minvera Mirabal stood as a symbol of revolution to those who wanted to see the downfall of
Rafael Trujillo. Her and two of her three sisters were advocates of the revolution until the sad
ending of the story in which the three sisters were killed in a car crash. But before the ending of
the Mirabal sisters can be discussed, the life of Minerva and the point she developed her political
principles must be addressed. As a young child, Minerva Mirabal always spoke her mind, despite
her mother s wishes that she would bite her tongue but Minerva would argue that women deserve to
have a voice in their country, the Dominican Republic, as well. The time in which this story is set
is during the regime of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, a strict dictator with suffocating policies. Brutal
oppression of actual or perceived members of any opposition was the main focus of Trujillo s
rule. If any person spoke out against Trujillo, they were almost immediately assassinated.
However, young Minerva possessed strong opinions mostly about the treatment of women, but
this would eventually change to become a complete revolt against Trujillo and his policies.
Minerva s coming of age was over a period of time and the biggest change wasn t directly stated
in the novel. Sinita and Lio both played major roles in pushing Minerva to revolt against Trujillo,
Sinita passionately telling Minerva of the cruelties of Trujillo and how it affected her family and
Lio being a young professor at the university that

Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy s Speech
In 1962, The United States of America was fighting off financial ruin and the Vietnamese, as
well as powerful business leaders. Spikes in the price of iron and wages for iron workers threw
the unsteady economy, back in the hole. The President at the time, John F. Kennedy, made a
speech to the United States citizens concerning these issues. He used many techniques to get his
point across, such as a powerful vocation, an appeal to patriotism, and factual data. President
Kennedy s uses a great deal of factual evidence to prove his point. He uses numerical data and
fact based predictions statistics, to appeal to the audience s sense of common reasoning. The
nmber make the argument easier to agree with because numbers are usually taken as facts not
tainted by emotion or human will. When talking about the steel workers unions in lines 46 to 74,
President Kennedy uses it a direct quotation from a report by a federal agency. A time period and
an amount of money are used in the end of the paragraph 8. A tactic that will appeal most
powerfully to people since it is two things would like to be used wisely. He also indirectly quote...

Lending a Helping Hand Essay
Lending a Helping Hand
There have always been organizations that provide help for the needy. Now the economy is going
through a downward spiral giving these institutions a greater importance in helping the lives of
those who need it. Miami County residents have seen firsthand that some people who live in this
area really need the help. The statistical evidence shows that Miami County, Indianais being
affected by the economy. The average salary of a resident in Peru, Indiana ends up being $28,487.
(Indiana) That number may not seem profound, but when you have a family to support, the budget
gets tight. The normal wage annually for a resident in the state of Indiana is $45,434. (Indiana)

Yet, hunger only makes up for a small part of the complications that povertybrings. Without
enough money, how does someone suppose to afford to live in a house? Though most Miami
County residents do not see homeless people, does not hide the fact we have people living
without a home. Peru is not a big city like New York, or Los Angeles, but no matter where you are
at in America, there will always be those who cannot afford to rent or own any type of housing.
Even if everyone could afford some type of housing to live in, it does not mean they can afford all
the necessary utilities. Air conditioning is not a necessity, but someone might not have enough
money to provide a fan. The cost for utilities such as electricity for a fan to keep the cool in the
summer heat, or simply having running water might be a problem for someone with little to no
income. With winter approaching even some people will have to go without heat in the Miami
County area.
Helping Hands is a Non Government and Non Profit organization in Miami County. Hershel
Manhart was a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul in Peru when he began to do research to
determine if there was a need for a food pantry. He started his research in 2000 and within two
years determined there was definitely a need for one. Helping Hands was founded in 2002 by
Hershel. (Manhart) It is run by volunteers from the area and provides many solutions to the
dilemmas of poverty. Some of the services they provide are feeding the

Argumentative Essay On Drinking Milk
You always hear your mom or dad say, Drink your milk, so you can get stronger! but is milk
really making you strong, or is it actually hurting you? Scientists say, Dairy consumption can
play a role in asthma, Parkinson s disease, and highly elevated blood pressure. Dairy is highly
inflammatory, causing issues like bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, and acne. When you
drink milk, you are actually consuming far more than just milk. American dairy farmers have
long been injecting cows with a genetically engineered bovine growth hormone called rBGH to
increase milk production(MindBodyGreen), So what are you really putting in your body that
according to your parents makes you Big and Strong ? In this paper, I tell you the truth about the
three most common dairy products that just might leave you speechless. Dairy consumption can
lead to fatal diseases. The average amount of serving you pay per gallon is 25 cents. Why are
you paying that if it s so unhealthy? Over the years, scientist and nutritionist have created lactose
free, dairy free, and soy free milk. A popular brand that we often consume is Silk. It s free of all
of soy, lactose, and dairy. Milk isn t unhealthy, in fact milk is very healthy, but the dairy in the
milk isn t. As this text stated, Milk Intake and Risk of Mortality and Fractures in Women and Men,
researchers following more than 100,000 men and women in Sweden for about 20 years found
significantly higher rates of bone and hip fractures,

Summary Of Slouching Toward Bethlehem By Joan Didion
Los Angeles possesses the characteristics of great fame and fortune as well as immense
homelessness and poverty. Often times, young people are misled by the financial success of some
and assume that is typical of city people. Writers Joan Didion and Carol Muske Dukes characterize
the realization that an adolescent s lifestyle is not suitable for the demands of a cityas signaling the
dawn of the apocalypse. In the essay, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, Didion highlights how the
failure of society is brought about by a family s inability to fulfill traditional roles and a lack of
education as exemplified during the Hippie movement. While poet Muske Dukes utilizes gothic
language and allusion to illustrate the notion of an apocalypse in the poem Like This .
In the essay Slouching Towards Bethlehem , the author parallels the destruction of society to the
weakening of traditional family practices in an effort to demonstrate how apocalypse escalates
in a city. Didion begins her essay by describing notions of apocalypse in the form of bankruptcy
notices...casual killings and misplaced children and abandoned homes (84). While these actions
do not appear to target a specific group, in every case families receive the most set back. Families
play an essential role in preparing future generations to become working members of society. Until
the age of eighteen, a child is reliant upon their parents to supply adequate shelter, food, water, and
access to education. Traditionally, parents are responsible for guiding their children by
communicating certain values or morals to them. Didion emphasizes this aspect of childhood in her
reflection on how parents do not teach children, and will never learn the games that had held the
society together (84). Before a child is capable of formulating their own opinions, they look to their
parents for guidance on matters they cannot fully understand. As a child advances their education,
they become more aware of how to interpret their surroundings and will eventually cease to rely on
the others opinions. Human behavior, parenting, and education expert Dr. Gail Gross discusses the
importance of parental figures by noting how our interactions with our parents form the crucible for

Concentration Of Sucrose Lab Report

Using different concentrations of sucrose affecting movement of water in and out of dialysis tube
to find the concentration of an unknown solution
Introduction
This experiments attempts to find how different concentrations of sucrose affect the amount of
osmosis that occurs in a dialysis tubing and finally to find concentration of the unknown sucrose
solution. The dialysis tubing represents a cell with a semi permeable membrane therefore water with
along with some other substances are able to move. A gradient is exist when there is an uneven
distributions. Gradients exist in these sucrose concentrations which are hypotonic when placed in
distilled water as there is higher concentration of water outside ... Show more content on

The higher concentrations of sucrose, more water will move inside the dialysis tubes at a faster
rate. Therefore dialysis bag with higher concentrations of sucrose will have greater difference in
mass over time and thus a greater rate of osmosis. The variables were controlled by keeping the
amount of sucrose concentration to be at 20 ml and the distilled water to be at 200 ml. Weight
balance was covered to stop letting the air affect the weight of each bags. Although the data
supports my hypothesis, there has been outliers. For example, in the control group there happens
to be osmosis going on but at a smaller rate than the other concentrations. This wasn t supposed
to happen because due to isotonic nature of solution. This might have been due to excess water
in dialysis bag. Since this experiment heavily relies on the handling of the experiments, errors
could have easily occurred. The dialysis might not have been properly dried. One of the example
of this 2% sucrose having 21.4 grams at 30 minutes from 21.9 grams at 20 minutes. The air
conditioner could have affected the results during the data collection phase although steps were
taken to prevent this from happening. Not having the same experimenter for the dialysis bag might
have affected the results. Not tying the dental floss tightly may have caused the loss in mass for
certain bags. Errors could have occurred from the time it took to out the bag from the distilled

Rabbit Proof Fence Film Analysis
Rabbit Proof Fence, originally written by Doris Pilkington Garimara in 1996, is a true story,
which was adapted into a movie in 2002 by Phillip Noyce. The film captures the adventures of
three Aboriginal girls (Molly, 14, Daisy, 8, and Gracie, 10), who escape from an English
settlement school after being forcibly taken from their home in Jigalong. The director positions
viewers to feel negatively toward the issue of cultural destructiveness through the application of
three main conventions. These conventions include characterization, camera angles, and setting.
Characterisation is a key convention in the development of the way in which the character will
be observed by the audience, as well as camera angles and setting. A.O. Neville, Chief Protector
of Aborigines, is a strong example in this point as his character was built up to be powerful. For
instance, when A.O. Neville was seated at his desk, in his office, the camera was angled to look up
at him. The setting of his costly office in addition to the low camera angle positions spectators to
see him as a dominant person. Through the use of characterisation, Noyce has positioned the
audience to respond empathetically towards the three girls during the time of their confinement.
The film s antagonist, A.O. Neville is characterized to represent a central theme in the issue of
cultural destructiveness. This can be proven in a variety of segments within the movie; for instance,
A.O. Neville can be seen to have good intentions

As we approach the millennium, the overall framework of the workforce has been steadily
flourishing. In this era, several individuals would like to think that the promotional and also hiring
processes in the workplace have become fair and also impartial. However, there still exist several
impediments for few individuals. The glass ceilingis a subtle framework that most organizations and
employers have utilized in legally discriminating particular groups of people. Although this action is
not apparently several women and also minorities have encountered challenges in advancing to
higher positions in their careers due to the concept of the glass ceiling (Horn, and Schaffner, 2003).
Also, several historical customs have continued to hinder the success of female individuals in
various societies. Due to these customs, the glass ceiling has been created above females in their
place of work. This is a serious impediment that exists within businesses that have prevented highly
qualified and learned women and people from minority groups from reaching their potential in
leadership positions in various corporations.

As multifaceted the word is, there have been ad nauseum amount of arguments regarding what it is
and how it relates to the physical (arguable by idealism) body. This age old topic of discussion
have presented to the public few theories and among them is materialism. Materialism, closely
related to physicalism, states that mind equals the brain; Everything can be fully explained by how
the brain functions. Materialism is associated with reductionism in that the theory simplifies the
concept of mind to neurophysiological terms. Thomas Nagel critiques this notion in his essay
What Is It Like To Be a Bat? (1974). Although he himself believes in materialism, Nagel denies
that it was the absolute solution to the mind body problem. He argues that materialist theories of
mind omit the essential component: what it is like for an organism to be it. The subjective
character of conscious experience can not be understood by anyone outside of the beholder of the
consciousness and therefore undermines reductionists effort to explain consciousness objectively.
Accordingly, Nagel concludes that is the limit of imagination. The clone and I will have exactly
the same brain that has encoded my entire life up to that point. Nevertheless, expecting to read her
mind or speak verbatim on her behalf would be unrealistic. My ability to understand my duplicate

The Economic Crisis Of The United States
Although the global economic crisis in 2008 occurred in many countries around the world, it
was originally initiated by the United States of America. Being as though the United States is
one of the world s most hegemonies countries after its economy suffered from an immense
downturn many smaller countries were affected, most specifically the Caribbean. Many
countries within the Caribbean were affected greatly by the recession due to the fact that most
of their gross domestic product comes from tourist dollars and taxes on those goods. One may
ponder how the recession or global economic crisis in 2008 affected tourism in Caribbean
countries, true scholars can infer that the recession in 2008 caused a decrease in aggregate
spending in many countries that tourist resided in. Jamaica is a prime example of a Caribbean
country that was affected by the global economic crisis of 2008. As a small underdeveloped
Caribbean country Jamaica s fiscal policy system can be viewed as fragile to some. With tourism
bringing in the most revenue for the country the decline in economic activity which ultimately led
to the economic crisis of 2008, affected the Jamaican economy to a noticeable extent. This study
will expound upon the effects of the global crisis in 2008 had on Jamaica as a case study.
Aggregate output, trade, real GDP are aspects that serve as focal research points to this study. The
history of tourism in Jamaica is imperative in this study due to the fact that it sets a

What Are The Factors That Affect Eating Healthy
If I had to be honest, I have always known that my eating habits could use some work. I do not
eat enough foods that are nutrient dense, and I consume too many fats. However, this also
reminds me that I have improved my habits a little. For example, Before I started college and
really started this journey towards healthy living I could have easily eaten a whole Hershey s
chocolate bar, but instead I only ate a half, and that half was not in one whole sitting. Another
example is related to the items I had for breakfast. Usually, I would get the tater tots that serve
with breakfast, but I chose to get an apple instead because I knew it would be healthier for me.
With this said, I do not eat breakfast on a regular basis. I am good about eating lunch and dinner,
but I have a bad habit of not getting a meal first thing in the morning. While I may not eat three
meals a day, I do not snack that often. There will be some days that I will have... Show more content

My parents did buy healthy foods throughout my child, but they would do so when it lined up
with their goals of eating healthy and exercising. However, eating healthy was not a common
occurrence, and has lead to me not eating healthy all the time. Another factor that has affected
my eating habits is my stress because as a student I am under a lot of stress. Between studying,
reading, and classes there is a lot to deal with. When I am stressed, I usually want to eat
something that reminds of home and is simple, but also translates into something unhealthy. The
biggest factor related to my eating habits is simply being in college. Stress is related to that, but
being in college itself is a factor since I have little control over what I eat. I can make decisions
about what to eat based on what is available. However, what is available is not always good which
makes it difficult to eat food that is both healthy and

The Effect Of Salinity On The Hatching Of Brine Shrimp
AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE EFFECTS OF SALINITY ON THE HATCHING OF BRINE
SHRIMP
WRITTEN BY BRONTE FLYNN
Abstract
Brine Shrimp are a micro crustacean that is found mostly in inland saltwater bodies, however, the
salinity levels that they live in vary greatly. The conditions that they require can be made at home
as the eggs (cysts) of the shrimp are dry, hard shells that can withstand drought and go without
water for up to 50 years. This study presents the results of 3 different salinity levelled
environments to the Brine shrimp in order to discover a salinity level that produces the most
successful hatching rate. By filling 3 Petri dishes with 20mL s of purified water, each dish
contained varying sodium chloride amounts from 15ppt, 25ppt, and ... Show more content on

Taking about a week to fully mature into an adult and living for several months, the shrimp do
have a surprisingly long life cycle being also able to reproduce up to 300 cysts every 4 days in
the right conditions. Other variables such as salinity, temperature, light, pH levels, water levels
and predatory presence play a large role in the hatching rate of the crustacean. The brine shrimp
are an extremely versatile micro crustacean as they can survive up to 10x salt concentration of
ordinary sea water (Eol.org, 2016) and are able to protect themselves during drought or when
conditions are not ideal for survival. This is called highly resistant encysted gastrula embryo (cyst)
that is easily able to hatch under conditions that can be replicated at home.
There are numerous variables that impact hatching rate such as the salinity levels of the habitat as
the cyst would not hatch if the salinity was not ideal. If the conditions were not correct, the cysts
remain dried and surrounded by a thick shell until ready to develop which can be up to 50 years.
Once the conditions are met, the cyst takes approximately 36 hours until the shrimp is released;
from there, the adolescent can produce up to 500 nauplii. The salt concentration, when too high,
impacts hatching as osmosis cannot occur correctly. The water outside the shell would have a higher

  • 2. Sport Psychology Consultant Philosophy The philosophy that a sport psychology consultant adopts breathes life into their work. It puts flesh on bone and gives the knowledge base that the consultant has already acquired a thumping heart and a living soul, providing significance and application to the knowledge acquired in their training. Most importantly, the philosophy that a consultant adopts makes their work important to them and to their clients while giving them the opportunity to develop self confidence. As I consider what I want my consulting philosophy to be, I want to keep in mind that I am the type of person that always wants to be learning. Sport psychologyis an ever developing occupation where there is always something new in the field to implement with your client,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Assessments are valuable because not only do they give the consultant a starting point in their treatment plan, but it could also be beneficial for an athlete to see where they began and where they are as the sessions progress. As McCann, Jowdy, and Van Raalte (2002) also point out, it is important that you have in writing you has access to the assessments and who can view them to keep any potential confidentiality issues at bay. Confidentiality is also something that will need to be addressed if a coach is hiring me for his client or a parent his hiring me for their young athlete. One thing that Dr. Carr, an alumnus of the program, taught me in an interview I did with him for our introduction to counseling class last year is to always have confidentiality outlined in your contract. For example, Dr. Carr says that when the front office or the coach keeps consistently asking what is going on in sessions even though he has explained confidentiality issues, he can default to his own contract and explain that he can be fired and he is not willing to risk that. He also says that if the athlete wishes to share with the coach, what the athlete is willing to share, when, and to whom is outlined in a written consent. In addition, Dr. Carr says he also makes it a point to receive verbal consent as well. It will also need to be made known to the athlete ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Watson And Crick What Is Life Summary The quest for deoxyribonucleic acid was a search that had drawn out for quite a long time. The fame for the discovery of the structure of the double helix belonged to Watson and Crick, for they had debunked the mystery in 1953. Their finding denoted a milestone in the history of science. It also set the path for future biology studies. This study like all others, began with a solitary idea, a single experiment, which sparked future generations to follow the same path. This follows the fact that the scientific methodis not linear, it is circular. Utilizing this, the two researchers, Watson and Crick, began with a purpose, collected background research on the topic, and created a hypothesis which led them to results that may or may not have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While both John Watson and Francis Crickdid not start out the task of uncovering the structure of DNA, they both eased into it. At the time of my arrival, Francis theories spread far beyond the confines of protein crystallography. Anything important would attract him (9). A major factor in his leaving physics and developing an interest in biology has been the reading in 1946 of What is Life? by the noted theoretical physicist Erwin SchrИЌdinger (13). This demonstrates that while Crick did leave physics, he did it for a reason. After reading the novel, he was inspired to start a new science life. Instead of focusing on protein crystallography, the book s ideology moved Crick s attention to DNA. It was Wilkins who had first excited me about X ray work on DNA... My interest in DNA had grown out (21). This indicates how Watson commenced his search on DNA. Although not stated outright, Watson got his ideas from Wilkin. He had observed Maurice s words and from this, he began to question and became intrigued. The same is applicable to Francis. He embarked on the path of DNA because of the book What is Life?, which shows that it must have sparked inquiries, since he developed an interest in biology and then acted upon it with Watson alongside ... • 5. Comparing My Poetry And Alfred Lord Tennyson What makes a poet great? What is it that makes their poetry weather the ravenous jaws of critics and stand the test of time? I ask myself this as I look at my own poetry, wondering if it too could withstand the harsh beatings many a poet s work has been through. I wonder if I could measure up to one of the greats, which is why I have chosen to compare and contrast my works and style of poetrywith that of the famous Alfred Lord Tennyson. I would like to show how our styles, themes, and poetic influences differ from while showing a few similar traits they have. To start off I will compare Tennyson s poem Tears, Idle Tears to my poem Monday Morning, Sunday Mourning. The main themes of both poems are about reminiscing about events that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These sentences often don t follow any specific meter, if they do it is most likely by accident. The rhyme is more often than not end rhyme. I write the poems to tell a story, but I don t want it to be completely free verse which is where the end rhyme comes in. I don t usually have any concrete rhyme scheme so that way I can reach a more diverse range of content without having to worry about not having words to rhyme. Tennyson s however was very gifted at understanding rhyme and meter, which allowed him to use many different styles when writing his poems. In some poems Tennyson would use a simple style while in others he would employ a more complex style to increase the depth of the poem. Furthermore, Tennyson s time period influenced his poetry heavily as well. During this time there were a lot of scientific advancements were occurring. Theses advancements however clashed with some religious beliefs. Tennyson s poetry allowed him to navigate the rift that had been created between scientific advancement and religion. Tennyson was also influenced by the other major events of the time, which allowed his poems to be relevant all the while they could still be applicable for years to come. It was these influences that allowed Tennyson to craft his most famous works such as Ulysses, The Charge of the Light Brigade, In Memoriam A.H.H., The Lady of Shallot, and many more,. Chemical Attack Essay The Chemicals of the Super Bowl Cory Barnett HSM 320: Emergency Response to Terrorism Instructor Kelly George September 2, 2013 The Chemicals of the Super Bowl The Super Bowl, a prime place where thousands of people come to celebrate, party and get together with others for an exceptional good time. All it would take is for one terrorist attack to change all that in the matter of minutes. The amount of mass confusion and mass injuries that could happen would be completely on the terrorist s side but just how easy would this be to complete? However, there is a plan in place for incidents like this and many more and I will be taking a look at one in particular, a chemical attack at the Super Bowl. The scenario is Hydrogen... Death occurs in 6 to 10 minutes after exposure. (Maniscalco amp; Christen, 2011) Being that the Super Bowl security would be considered a Level 1 national security type of event, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) takes over security of the entire event. (Jessop, 2013) The FBI has operated a central Joint Operations Center (JOC) during the Super Bowl for several years now and it consists of many government agencies all in one center, therefore making communication much easier among all the agencies. Inside, there for many work stations for each agency and wall monitors that show surveillance camera views, television news broadcasts, Law Enforcement Online s Virtual Command Center website that tracks security incidents and can be accessed remotely by any law enforcement member and other intelligence information. Ed. or P.E.) or gymnastics(gym or gym class) is a course taken during primary and secondary educationthat encourages psychomotor learning in a play or movement exploration setting. Physical education trends have developed recently to incorporate a greater variety of activities. Introducing students to activities like bowling, walking /hiking, or Frisbee at an early age can help students develop good activity habits that will carry over into adulthood. It is, however, important to note that many school budgets have seen cutbacks and in some cases physical education programs have been cut. Technology use in physical education New technology in Physical education is playing a big role in classes. One of the most affordable and effective would be a simple tape recorder. With the use of a tape recorder students can see the mistakes they re making in things such as a throwing motion or swinging form[4]. Studies show that students do find this more effective than having someone just telling them what they are doing wrong and trying to correct it. Educators also found the use of other technologies such as pedometers and heart rate monitors very successful, using them to make step and heart rate goals for students. Other technologies that can be used in a Physical Education setting would include projectors, GPS and even gaming systems such as Kinect for XBOX360, Wii Fit and Dance Dance Revolution. Projectors can be used to show students things such as proper form or how to play certain games. GPS systems can be used to get students active in an outdoor setting and active exergames can be used by teachers to show students a good way to stay fit in and out of the classroom setting[7] Another type of technology that is commonly used in Physical Education is the use of pedometers. This chapter covers a study about Gay undergraduate males and the way it makes sense of HIV and its storyline on television. Generally focus group members felt that shows like this help people understand that people living with HIV are living with one more thing to deal with instead of always being consumed with the possibility of death or illness (Dines and Humez). Ultimately, the focus group recognized though they were initially entertained, they could appreciate education of the aspects of gay culture including HIV awareness and prevention. The focus group had positive reviews of how the storylines are presented. I will admit this summary took me a little bit out of my comfort zone. There are three branches of government including a legislative, executive, and judicial branch. The president has a considerable amount of power. He can appoint or dismiss the prime minister, act as the commander in chief of the armed forces, and more. Currently the president is Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who has been in office since 1999. • 10. A Study Of Ecology And Its Effects On The Environment Competition in ecosystems has become central to the study of ecology, and has been implicated as a major factor behind the patterns of species abundance and distribution. Though often studied together, abundance and distribution are two distinct designations, abundance being the density of a species in a given area, and the spatial arrangement of that species in an area is referred to as the distribution (Brown, 1984). In ecological terms competition refers to a fight between two organisms, of the same species or different, for a limiting resource, leading often to an adverse effect on one or both organism (Birch, 1957). It is important to emphasize that exploitation and interference competition mechanisms can be intraspecific or interspecific, thus are classified as real competition, while apparent competition is typically only of the interspecific type (Birch, 1957). With that said, of all forms competition, interspecific competition, the competition between two or more species, has been studied most intensively as cause behind patterns of distribution and abundance within populations of species. However, there has been much disagreement regarding the prominence of interspecific competition in natural environment, and whether it actually effects the abundance and distribution of species. In this paper the history and application of interspecific competition, along with a common model used to illustrate it will be evaluated, through their use in various ecological researches. History of Interspecific Competition Though the study of ecology is a relatively new science, the earliest records of competition in biology and in the environment can be traced back to Charles Darwin (Park, 1954). Darwin, the father evolution, placed great emphasis on the importance of competition, specifically interspecies competition, in the process of natural selection and species ... • 11. The Dangers Of Teen Driving Introduction Teen driving allows American youth to have their license between the ages 13 15. At this age, our American youth are more likely to be careless while driving without supervision. The younger teen drivers are the more susceptible to fatal car accidents they will be due to the lack of supervision and proper driver s education. Lack of maturity and experiences leads to developing poor drivinghabits. The teens in the age group 16 18 are usually more mature in handling a motorized vehicle. States that allow 13 15 year old teens drive are more likely to get in more car crashes from driving earlier and not having enough experience. Theoretical Basis: Conflict Perspective The conflict perspective best explains the issue of young teen driving and their high number of crashes. States in America believe that teens should practice to get ready to pass the behind the wheel test. The more people practice behind the wheel, the better they are at driving a motorized vehicle. So, it is important that teens received the best opportunity they can with the behind the wheel driving supervisor in order to potentially reduce fatal car crashes among teens in America. Individualized instruction is different for each state for behind the wheel. Some states do not have enough supervised hours which puts teens at the top of fatal crash rates. Individual states that have about 40 or more supervised hours and have lower crash rates are for example, the state of Minnesota. This state has 40 supervised hours for teens of which they have to log before they are able to take the drivers test. ( The Children s Hospital...). In Minnesota if the parents do not attend the drivers education meeting before the class starts their child would have to log 50 hours before they turn 16 to take their driver s test. This helps since Minnesota has 40 or more supervised hours to practice driving. Minnesota is in the first group for not having fatal car crashes in teens. South Dakota has one of the worst teen fatal car crash rates mostly because they have no supervised hours to meet before they take the behind the wheel test. This demonstrate an example of the conflict theory because due to lack of resources a conflict has occurred for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While education can be powerful it can be dangerous in the wrong hands and if not used properly. Public education can be used to help people, how misunderstandings can be related back to the lack of education, and how lack of educationcan fuel the fires of terrorism and extremism. Malala s life was affected by other people s misunderstandings and modern extremism. The first goal is to show people why public education matters and that brings us the readers, to the first topic. The main goal of public education is to prepare students for higher education. Without higher education world producers wouldn t have the skilled workers required to make their plants run. Without factories or educated people we have no money or new product. If the teachers that help put educated workers in plants are not taught the correct things from the beginning, then they in turn teach people the wrong information pertaining to their jobs causing mass work accidents. • 15. Murder Mystery Play Research Paper INITIAL REACTION GENERAL RESPONSE Choosing a play was definitely not easy, in fact, it was probably the hardest part of this project for me. I am usually not one to dig into and enjoy plays very much. I am more of a musical theater person, I love to sing and dance. However, when this project was assigned I chose to think open mindedly and chose something a little bit out of my comfort zone. Instead of picking a musical I love like Annie , Legally Blonde , or Hamilton. I chose a murder mystery play called The Mousetrap. Going into the process I had a pretty good idea of what the play was about, because I had seen it when Oconomowoc High School did it for their senior directed play in 2015, and then I also saw it again in December of that year with my drama class when the Milwaukee Rep did it. When I first say the play I loved it! I was so intrigued from the very beginning and all the way to the last second. That very night that I saw the show I went home and looked it on youtube and started to watch it again, and to be honest I rewatched it several times since then. • 16. An Experiment On The Water Of Water Abstract No matter how water came to exist on Earth, there is no denying that it has become the basis for life as we know it. From the largest animal, to the smallest microbe, water is essential. Microbes, in particular, have made water their homes and their diversity within these freshwater aquatic habitats was tested in this experiment and the hypothesis put forward was that cleaner water, pond B, contained a higher biodiversity as compared to dirty water. Water from two different freshwater ponds, A and B, was collected and placed in beakers, six slides of each water sample were prepared carefully and methyl cellulose was added so the movement of microbes could be inhibited. The entire section under the cover slip was viewed and no area was left out of view, this was done by using an overlap of view method. Organisms spotted were identified using a key and the names and numbers recorded. After all observations, a table was created and further information was extracted from the table and put into graphs. It was found that dirty water contained a high biodiversity than cleaner water and the original hypothesis put forward was rejected. Introduction The origin of water on Earth remains a hotly debated topic among the scientific community. The most widely accepted theory is that millions of years after the Earth was formed, the planet was bombarded by numerous comets and asteroids (Earth Investigated, 2008) and water, in the form of ice was released into the atmosphere and ... • 24. The Use Of Symbolism In Paul s Case By Willa Cather One of the finest forms of writing is the use of symbolism. This representation allows readers to signify an object, person, situation or word with a feeling or idea. Symbolism is an illustration of speech that is used when an author wants to form a certain mood or emotion. Readers find stories easier to associate with when there is a symbolin which is relatable and a multiple uses of conflict for attention grabbers. An example of symbolic imagery could be a bald eagle that represents freedom to the United States. In literature, an author utilizes figures of speech, like metaphors and allegory to explain the symbols being used. In her story Paul s Case, Willa Cather provides a short story full of lies and defeat. The story takes place firstly in Pittsburgh and later to New York, where a young man named Paul goes through life feeling hopeless and fragile. Cather begins the story with Paul meeting his teachers in the principles office while wearing a red carnation. To the teachers, the red carnation was not properly significant of the contrite spirit befitting a boy under the ban of suspension (90). Through this initial statement, analysis can be extended to include the story s frequent references to other flowers, which also symbolize Paul s desires and mirror his disconnection from the world (Crabtree). One is pathogenic which results from the operation possession concepts result from the operation of cognitive tools that deal with the representation of contamination (both positive and negative); the presence of the spirit entity is typically (but not always) manifested in the form of illness. The other is executive, this type of possession mobilizes cognitive tools that deal with the world of intentional agents; the spirit entity is typically represented as taking over the host s executive control, or replacing the host s mind (or intentional agency), thus assuming control of bodily behaviors. There are states that have issued the right to have a concealed handgun in public, and other places that have tough systems for even obtaining a license for gunownership. Some people believe carrying handguns in public will help protect them in the long run if a dangerous situation occurs, while some others believe that many dangerous situations occur from those that carry guns, becoming the threat in public. This paper will examine the cons of allowing concealed handguns in public, along with analyzing /rebutting some pros identified with this health topic, followed by a proposed public health policy to address this important health topic. Statistically, it has been recorded that crimes such as burglary, robbery, and simple assaults, were commonly conducted by non licensed handgun holders, and crimes with larger death rates, such as sexual offenses were conducted by concealed handgun licensed holders (Phillips 2013). This shows that increasing settings in which concealed carry is allowed may also increase the rate of specific and sometimes serious crimes in the public. When a patient is in a cast he or she must not put weight on the cast as this could distort the healing process. While in a cast, a patient can use a wheelchair or crutches to aid them for mobility in important daily activities. Healing can last up to several months. However, the cast must be changed every one to two weeks to ensure it fits the patient comfortably as the swelling diminishes. A custom walking boot or orthosis, or a diabetic shoe may be recommended after the swelling is decreased to normal and bones are healed fully. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, one upmanship can be deadly to both companies whom constantly try to outdo themselves and also offer better prices. The primary reason why this can be deadly is by cutting profit margins thinner and thinner. Ultimately price is what sells and item and not quality, especially if the quality is marginal. You don t have to go far to see this classical struggle. Gas stations are a prime example of one upmanship. Profit margins on gas are noted to be very thin. If you consider gas station prices on neighboring stations, they are typically very close if not the same. These stations have effectively locked themselves into a commitment to match or exceed their competitor s price in order to draw higher sales, because ultimately what sells gas at neighboring gas stations is the best price. 3.What actions would you recommend over the next five years that would help Gillette maintain its worldwide dominance in the shaving market? Often times, young people are misled by the financial success of some and assume that is typical of city people. Writers Joan Didion and Carol Muske Dukes characterize the realization that an adolescent s lifestyle is not suitable for the demands of a cityas signaling the dawn of the apocalypse. In the essay, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, Didion highlights how the failure of society is brought about by a family s inability to fulfill traditional roles and a lack of education as exemplified during the Hippie movement. While poet Muske Dukes utilizes gothic language and allusion to illustrate the notion of an apocalypse in the poem Like This . In the essay Slouching Towards Bethlehem , the author parallels the destruction of society to the weakening of traditional family practices in an effort to demonstrate how apocalypse escalates in a city. Didion begins her essay by describing notions of apocalypse in the form of bankruptcy notices...casual killings and misplaced children and abandoned homes (84). While these actions do not appear to target a specific group, in every case families receive the most set back. Families play an essential role in preparing future generations to become working members of society. Until the age of eighteen, a child is reliant upon their parents to supply adequate shelter, food, water, and access to education. Traditionally, parents are responsible for guiding their children by communicating certain values or morals to them. Didion emphasizes this aspect of childhood in her reflection on how parents do not teach children, and will never learn the games that had held the society together (84). Before a child is capable of formulating their own opinions, they look to their parents for guidance on matters they cannot fully understand. As a child advances their education, they become more aware of how to interpret their surroundings and will eventually cease to rely on the others opinions. The film captures the adventures of three Aboriginal girls (Molly, 14, Daisy, 8, and Gracie, 10), who escape from an English settlement school after being forcibly taken from their home in Jigalong. The director positions viewers to feel negatively toward the issue of cultural destructiveness through the application of three main conventions. These conventions include characterization, camera angles, and setting. Characterisation is a key convention in the development of the way in which the character will be observed by the audience, as well as camera angles and setting. A.O. Neville, Chief Protector of Aborigines, is a strong example in this point as his character was built up to be powerful. For instance, when A.O. Neville was seated at his desk, in his office, the camera was angled to look up at him. The setting of his costly office in addition to the low camera angle positions spectators to see him as a dominant person. Through the use of characterisation, Noyce has positioned the audience to respond empathetically towards the three girls during the time of their confinement. The film s antagonist, A.O. One may ponder how the recession or global economic crisis in 2008 affected tourism in Caribbean countries, true scholars can infer that the recession in 2008 caused a decrease in aggregate spending in many countries that tourist resided in. Jamaica is a prime example of a Caribbean country that was affected by the global economic crisis of 2008. As a small underdeveloped Caribbean country Jamaica s fiscal policy system can be viewed as fragile to some. With tourism bringing in the most revenue for the country the decline in economic activity which ultimately led to the economic crisis of 2008, affected the Jamaican economy to a noticeable extent. • 48. What Are The Factors That Affect Eating Healthy If I had to be honest, I have always known that my eating habits could use some work. I do not eat enough foods that are nutrient dense, and I consume too many fats. However, this also reminds me that I have improved my habits a little. For example, Before I started college and really started this journey towards healthy living I could have easily eaten a whole Hershey s chocolate bar, but instead I only ate a half, and that half was not in one whole sitting. Another example is related to the items I had for breakfast. Usually, I would get the tater tots that serve with breakfast, but I chose to get an apple instead because I knew it would be healthier for me. With this said, I do not eat breakfast on a regular basis. I am good about eating lunch and dinner, but I have a bad habit of not getting a meal first thing in the morning. While I may not eat three meals a day, I do not snack that often. There will be some days that I will have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My parents did buy healthy foods throughout my child, but they would do so when it lined up with their goals of eating healthy and exercising. However, eating healthy was not a common occurrence, and has lead to me not eating healthy all the time. Another factor that has affected my eating habits is my stress because as a student I am under a lot of stress. Between studying, reading, and classes there is a lot to deal with. When I am stressed, I usually want to eat something that reminds of home and is simple, but also translates into something unhealthy. The biggest factor related to my eating habits is simply being in college. Stress is related to that, but being in college itself is a factor since I have little control over what I eat. I can make decisions about what to eat based on what is available. However, what is available is not always good which makes it difficult to eat food that is both healthy and ... • 50. The Effect Of Salinity On The Hatching Of Brine Shrimp AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE EFFECTS OF SALINITY ON THE HATCHING OF BRINE SHRIMP WRITTEN BY BRONTE FLYNN Abstract Brine Shrimp are a micro crustacean that is found mostly in inland saltwater bodies, however, the salinity levels that they live in vary greatly. The conditions that they require can be made at home as the eggs (cysts) of the shrimp are dry, hard shells that can withstand drought and go without water for up to 50 years. This study presents the results of 3 different salinity levelled environments to the Brine shrimp in order to discover a salinity level that produces the most successful hatching rate. By filling 3 Petri dishes with 20mL s of purified water, each dish contained varying sodium chloride amounts from 15ppt, 25ppt, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking about a week to fully mature into an adult and living for several months, the shrimp do have a surprisingly long life cycle being also able to reproduce up to 300 cysts every 4 days in the right conditions. Other variables such as salinity, temperature, light, pH levels, water levels and predatory presence play a large role in the hatching rate of the crustacean. The brine shrimp are an extremely versatile micro crustacean as they can survive up to 10x salt concentration of ordinary sea water (Eol.org, 2016) and are able to protect themselves during drought or when conditions are not ideal for survival. This is called highly resistant encysted gastrula embryo (cyst) that is easily able to hatch under conditions that can be replicated at home. There are numerous variables that impact hatching rate such as the salinity levels of the habitat as the cyst would not hatch if the salinity was not ideal. If the conditions were not correct, the cysts remain dried and surrounded by a thick shell until ready to develop which can be up to 50 years. Once the conditions are met, the cyst takes approximately 36 hours until the shrimp is released; from there, the adolescent can produce up to 500 nauplii. The salt concentration, when too high, impacts hatching as osmosis cannot occur correctly. The water outside the shell would have a higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
