The Crucible And Breaker Morant Analysis
The tales of Arthur Miller s The Crucible and Bruce Beresford s Breaker Morant while appearing
vastly different at a glance; share many common themes. These include scapegoats, trials and revenge.
In The Crucible the antagonist, Abigail, is depicted as a spiteful and vengeful character that will stop
at no end to gain the satisfaction of revenge through destructive means. Good Putnam is portrayed as a
revenge driven character from The Crucible . In the movie of Breaker Morant , the protagonist of the
story, Harry Morant, vows to avenge his fallen friend and comrade Captain Hunt.
Throughout The Crucible the audience witnesses the torment, backstabbing and spiteful nature of
Abigail Williams, previous servant girl of the Proctor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spiteful and envious actions of Goody Putnam, resulted in Rebecca s death. I have this morning
signed away the soul of Rebecca Nurse . In Goody Putnam s search for an excuse and reason for her
deceased children. The willingness of Mrs Putnam to accuse Rebecca is influenced by the mass
accusations from the citizens of Salem as many of them attempt to receive more property. Vengeance
is walking Salem . In doing so she allows her truthfulness, judgement and morality to be clouded and
disturbed by desire for revenge.
The movie of Breaker Morant portrays the struggle of Harry Breaker as he seeks vengeance for his
dear friend Captain Hunt who was killed and mutilated in an ambush by Boer commandos. I say
avenge Captain Hunt . The bushveldt carbineers, a group a soldiers in the English empire tasked with
fighting in a similar manner to the Boer commandos that receive the majority of orders being given off
the record. Were ordered to ride by Morant until they found the Boer Soldiers that killed Hunt. We
rode another couple of days... hardly ever stopped . This shows that Morant s frenzied craving for
revenge against the Boer soldiers was due to his clouded judgement. Upon the discovery of a Boer
man that was sporting the stolen jacket of Hunt, Morant beings outraged. He views the swaddling of
Hunts jacket as a sign of disrespect and dishonour to a man that Morant held in the highest regard.

Essay On The Eucharist
When one thinks of the Eucharist, they might think that it is just Christ s Body and Blood, and after
we receive it, we can go along doing our own thing. That is false. You see, the Eucharist is not just
something you receive on Sunday, and forget about; it is more than that. We are called to perform
services in the world and in our communities because of the Eucharist. This paper is about what we
are called to do after we receive the Eucharist, and what we as Catholics should be doing already. The
Eucharist enables us to come together as a Church every Sunday, and sometimes more often than that.
It also unites us with the angels in heaven and the deceased, which enables all of God s people to
participate in the celebration of Jesus s sacrifice. As Catholics, we never really worship alone. At the
Eucharistic Liturgy, we gather with the young and old, the rich and poor, as well as millions around
the world and the saints in heaven, to celebrate Christ s sacrifice (Body of Christ, Broken for the
World). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One soon begins to realize that all people are children of God and need to be treated equally with
dignity and respect, no matter what their race, social status, etc. Let me remind you: this is because of
the Eucharist. The Eucharist educates us to this love in a deeper way; it shows us, in fact, what value
each person, our brother or sister, has in God s eyes, if Christ offers Himself equally to each one,
under the species of bread and wine. If our Eucharistic worship is authentic, it must make us grow in
awareness of the dignity of each person. The awareness of that dignity becomes the deepest motive of
our relationship with our neighbor (Dominicae Cenae,

descibed as an indiviual s tendency to follow the unspoken rules or behaviours of the social group to
which he/she belongs to or wants to be apart of. Many psychologists including , Jenness (1932), Sherif
(1935) both experimented in psychology, investigating conformity and group pressure. However,
perhaps the most famous conformity experiment was done by Solomon Asch (1951) and his line
judgment experiment. (McLeod 2007) Solomon Asch was a psychologist that conduced numerous
expirments designed to illustrate the increasing conformity within social groups. The experiments also
invesigated the effect the number of people present within the group had one the conformity rate. Asch
hypothesized, that the majority of the people would not conform to something obviosly wrong;
however, when surrounded by (other) individuals all voicing an incorrect answer, 75% of them(the
participant) will conform to the groups answer (Watzlawick 1976) In the experiment solomon had two

Essay On Hair Bias
Do you have a hair bias? Take the Hair IAT to Find Out
We know that the increasing visibility of black women s natural hair and its growing popularity does
not mean there isn t still a bias against it. Most of us have had to deal with our own experiences of this
bias or at the very least, are aware of someone who has. Whether it s in the workplace or at school or
going through security at the airport, we live this. Naturallycurly has also written about this study in

Towards the end of January, I straightened my natural hair. I had it done at a salon primarily to get a
professional trim and a good visual of my length. I have been natural for over 6 years and I had never
done this before, so it was a completely new experience for me. I HATED my straightened hair. It was
easy to run a comb through it but, it really was a pain in the butt. For one thing, my satin scarf and
bonnet wouldn t stay on my head because my hair was so silky, they just slid right off it. Same thing
for my ponytail holder. I felt like I constant replacing my bonnet and fixing my ponytail and I had no
time for that. Having worn my hair straightened had really intensified my natural hair love and since it
was about four weeks between the straightening and taking the test, I was still mentally in that place.

Themes Of Guilt, Loss, And Acceptance
As human beings, we have the capacity for understanding. Poetry allows a writer to express the most
personal experiences, thus allowing corresponding reliability among individuals. Through the
captivating focus of each poem, themes of guilt, loss, and acceptance allows for an overarching sense
of cultural cognizance. The poem, To my father, written by Frank Bidart exhibits the passing of a
father (319). Wanda Coleman s poem, Dear Mama, depicts a loss of a loved one (354). Theresa Hak
Kyung Cha depicts depression in, Dead Words (430). Poems that are personal and emotional have
been modified and persistent. There is a higher focus on experiences through subtlety. This allows the
poems to speak to the heart of man. These relatable incidents provide a systematized congruency
between delicate situations. Furthermore dismissing divisions placed by society in regards to income,
social class, and race.
Bidart wrote this poem on the account of his father s death. The father is described as a distant
stranger. Through this distance, anxiety and guilt can be seen throughout the poem. Bidart begins the
poem by saying, I walked into the room , and from the first line, we can see a detachment between the
father and son. The words the room provides a cold attitude towards the death of the father. Objects
residing in the home appear to be communicating to the speaker, defining the sound as, a painful
cacophony (4). These sounds are representations of the inner guilt the author

Analysis Of Oath Of The Horatii
Oath of the Horatii is life size oil on canvas painting that is about thirteen feet wide by ten feet tall.
The painting was done by Jacques Louis David, who was the leading Neoclassical painter in France
during the eighteenth century. David rejected the Rococo style that was popular of that time, which
was characterized by fantasy and playfulness. David was interested in painting images with antiquity.
The Oath of the Horatii has elements of classical Greek and Roman art and architecture. Oath of the
Horatii was a political painting that David had comprised to stimulate the publics attention (Fred S.
Kleiner 680).
Oath of the Horatii captures a heroic and patriotic moment. Something big is happening in this
composition. There are three Horatii brothers taking an oath, which is being administered by their
father. The oath they are taking is to live or die for their country, which happens to be Rome. While
taking this oath, the Horatii brothers are facing their father. They stand in unison with one another.
They each have one leg and arm extending out. The father holds three swords up and out towards the
Horatii brothers in the same pose. The Horatii brothers extended arms are saluting towards the swords.
The postures of all four men appear upright and strong. There is no emotion of fear on their faces. The
brothers appear athletic and fit. This can be seen in the muscular details of their legs and arms. They
appear bold and ready to sacrifice their lives. The father does not

Exploring Whether All Morality Should Reduce to Respecting...
Kantian Ethics states that all morality can be reduced to respecting autonomy. This theory has faced
criticisms as well as support. Its most plausible idea is that autonomous agents are capable of making
their own decisions and even if their choices may not be the best for them, these choices should be
respected. However, criticisms of this theory include concerns such as 1) respecting autonomy is not
equivalent to respecting the autonomous agent, 2) the theory does not concern (or concerns very little)
with non autonomous agents such as children and non human animals, 3) it is implausible that
respecting autonomy is the only factor determining morality, and 4) respecting others autonomy does
not follow from respecting one s own autonomy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response to this predicament, Rawls presents Contractualism, where what is right is what everyone
would agree to behind a Veil of Ignorance. While behind this veil, an individual is not aware of their
social class, sex, race, and any other psychological traits that may prevent one from making a fair
judgement. Prioritizing autonomies while behind the Veil of Ignorance can be presumed to be fair and
just. However, this theory is purely hypothetical and due to this fact, even if we can make ourselves be
unaware of our social class, sex, race, and other psychological traits choices made behind the veil
seem irrelevant to reality. Furthermore, agreement behind the Veil of Ignorance does not ensure that
the decision is actually permissive because people may agree to a sacrifice if the probability of it
happening to them is rare. For instance, people may agree to harvesting organs from healthy
individuals to save a greater number of individuals but this does not mean that this act is morally
permissible. I have presented how Rawls Contractualism fails to support Kantian Ethics which
required prioritizing between one s own autonomy against another s. Even if the problem of
conflicting autonomies were resolved, Kant s theory still faces criticisms such as the fact that the
theory does not respect an individual and their decisions as much as it respects autonomy, does not
efficiently discourage unequal cruelty to non autonomous agents, and does not imprint any value on

Feminist Revolution Susan B Anthony
The word feminist can be though of in many ways. Some people can hear the word in a positive way,
and think of it as a woman standing up for her gender s rights. Other people can think of it in a
negative way, as a woman who is too high strung and opinionated. The word feminist is actually a
female who has opinions on the way her sex is treated. Modern feminism will be discussed, along with
using some examples such as Susan B. Anthony.
As to the history of feminism, the beginning will be with what is called the Feminist Revolution
(Rappaport 28). This revolution began in 1837 in New York. Women banded together for the first time
at an anti slavery convention. These women were considered abolitionists after being ... Show more

Remember the ladies. Be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors. Do not put such

Art Nouveau Research Paper
Art Nouveau
When one considers the term Art Nouveau, what comes to mind most immediately is images of a
European wide invasion [characterized] by the restless dynamism of organic form (Silverman 1). For
me it is usually the work of Alphonse Mucha his mysterious women surrounded by the beauties of
nature. Often my Art Nouveau fantasies take shape in the odd fungal shaped stained glass lamps of
Tiffany. Or sometimes they surface as the romantic Parisian posters I ve seen at Pier One, advertising
champagne or cats noir or bicycles or the like. But no matter what ones notion may be of what Art
Nouveau looks like, there is a feeling that accompanies it that is at the heart of the style s appeal. It is
difficult to define or describe what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this poster for La Samaritaine(1894), he portrays her hair as long flowing locks that engulf her body
much like the vines of a plant might do if she were frozen still in a garden for several days. In like
manner the lines of her dress cascade down her body, emphasizing the beauty of her feminine form,
this figure itself a frequent inspiration and facet of Art Nouveau works. Such lines are indicative of
another key characteristic of the style the use of nature; for they engender an organic feeling in the
work. It is important to distinguish between the use of the natural and the philosophy of Naturalism, a
movement that Art Nouveau was consciously attempting to bring to an end. Naturalism seeks to
portray things exactly as they are, as stark, often unflattering reality. Naturalists based this technique
on the claim that true beauty will come across in the faithful representation of reality. This is exactly
the opposite of how Art Nouveau artists sought to create their work. They believed in drawing from
Nature the beauty she has to offer and accentuating it, doing so symbolically as opposed to
realistically. Prominent Art Nouveau artist Siegfried Bing called nature the infallible code of all the
laws of beauty (qtd. in Selz 14). All true Art Nouveau draws upon that code in one form or another, if
not in the portrayal nature then

Analysis Of A Farewell By Amy Levy
A Farewell by Amy Levy reflects the life of an outsider in the 19th century. The speaker portrays the
internal battle that Levy faces in a racist and sexist society as being not only Jewish but a strong
feminist and lesbian. By living through the speaker Levy is able to express her deepest thoughts and
beliefs about contemporary society, and how it has come to affect her ultimately causing her to take
her own life. The poem immediately sets a tone of unhappiness that is constant throughout the poem.
The speaker describes the setting of the scene: the sad rain falls from Heaven (l.1). The sad rain
indicates the darker state of an unjust civilization and how it causes the speaker to become depressed.
The word heaven is used to signify that even God looks down on mankind and deems it unfair.
Heaven also gives the poem religious context which may be related to Levy being Jewish in a
dominating Christian society and how this causes her to be discriminated against. The speaker realizes
their personal truths while they look from outside culture inwards. A window is used to signify a
barrier between the speaker and the general public. The society that the speaker lives in is unjust and
causes the speaker to feel foreign in her own culture, and thus relates to Amy Levy s present barriers
as a young Jewish woman who wishes for acceptance. The speaker sadly says, I am sitting here at my
window (l. 3), which represents the life she cannot have but has to watch on the other side of

Bacteria Lab

Professor Youssef
INTRODUCTION:
Bacteria are the smallest living organisms, they are prokaryotic and have a simple cell structure. They
do not contain a nucleus, and are unicellular. Bacteria are the most abundant microorganism. They are
among the earliest forms of life that appeared on earth billions of years ago. They can grow in
different temperatures and many exist naturally in our human flora, such as staphylococci. Growth
within different temperatures can range from 0 degrees Celsius such as psychrotrophs, to
hyperthermophiles who grown best above 70 degrees Celsius (Ritchey, Exercise 16). Bacteria have
many shapes, size, and multicell arrangements. The main bacteria shapes are cocci (spherical or ovoid
shaped), bacilli (straight rods), coccobacillus (short rods), fusiform bacillus (rod shaped bacilli with
tapered ends), vibrio (curved rods), spirillum (single spiral bacteria), and spirochete (if it is flexible
and undulating). Bacteria can form multicell arrangements, such as diplococcus (two cell
arrangements) (. Bacteria are usually named for their shape or multicell arrangement, but cannot be
truly identified by just those characteristics (Strelkauskas, Edwards, Fanhert, Pryor, 2016). Bacteria
can be classified by the way they stain. They are clear under a microscope and require staining to be
seen. To stain a bacteria, one takes a dye to color the cells. There are basic dyes that contain

Thin Layer Chromatography Of Amino Acid
Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) of Amino Acids
Introduction:
Thin layer chromatography (TLC) separates compounds, through migration, from a mixed solution
with the assistance of a solvent and an absorbent strip of cellulose. The purpose of this lab is to allow
students to determine an unknown amino acid by comparing results to six known amino acids (slowest

combined solution of amino acids using the TLC method. But to fully understand the lab, two terms
must be understood: amino acid and protein. Amino acids are building blocks of proteins linked by

Based on my results from Lanes 2 and 4, I predict Unknown T to contain both lysine and glycine
based on the slow reaction/movement the unknown experienced once the solvent was introduced and
the shortest distance it underwent. My prediction was supported with the development of Lane 2. As I
analyzed Lane 2, it became obvious that the six Rf values represented the six known amino acids; the
lowest Rf value was lysine and the highest Rf value was leucine. Once the Rf values for the unknown
was calculated it was easy to identify the two amino acids present in the unknown sample due to
corresponding values in both lanes. Although one value (Rf = 0.515) in Lane 4 did not completely
match with the second value (representing glycine) in Lane 2, I can conclude that the Rf value in Lane
4 was still glycine because the values are similar and close in range, and Lane 1 helps support my
theory as

Tisto Alternate Ending
Tisto entered the arena, one of the few standing buildings on the ruins of Karufr. The planet had
recently been bombarded by the Grandmaster s forces, and the kiffar had decided it would be a good
place to visit due to his own nature. As a scar in the force Tisto had to move around every so often so
he wouldn t lead Inquisitors to the Knights of Allusis and Clan Odan Urr. He moved through the
arena, his leather jacket pushed around by the wind. *Clack* Tisto turned around quickly, grabbing his
saber off his belt. Behind him stood a tall man with a blindfold wrapped around his head. The mans
robes billowed out from behind him, pushed by the wind. Tisto eyed the man suspiciously, not ever
having seen him before. The miraluka Talis looked back at Tisto unsure what to make of him. He
recognized the Knight Commander from when he was Knighted after New Tython was bombarded,
but just like then he was put off by the Knight Commanders appearance. Unlike the normal human
shape aura there was a jagged split in the kiffar s, making him seem very disconnected. Looking him
was disorienting, but after a few seconds Talis began to get used to it. ... Show more content on

Technology in Fahrenheit 451 and the Real World
How technology affects society in Fahrenheit 451 and the real world Every day, everywhere people
are using technology to check email, calculate tax, and talk with each other. Technology has greatly
affected the social structure today and in Fahrenheit 451. Technology has effected how the TV
controls our lives, how we communicate with one another, and how strong the social structure is In
both the real world and Fahrenheit 451. Similarly to the real world, in Fahrenheit 451 the TV is a
habitual action that diminishes social contact. In the real world too much TV leads to the Mean World

Technology has had many positive and negative effects in both Fahrenheit 451 and the real world.
Technology has similarly impacted how much the TV controls our lives and differently impacted
communications and social structure in Fahrenheit 451 and the real world. Albert Einstein said, It has
become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity. This famous quote is

Comparing Romano s Virgin And Child
There are two particular paintings currently on display at The Museum of the Fine Arts, Houston that
are so similar in appearance and content, but their intentions and purposes differ dramatically. These
two paintings, both relating to the virgin and the child, are the Master of the Straus Madonna s Virgin
and Child (Museum of Fine Arts, Houston), dated c. 1395 1400, and created much later, Antoniazzo
Romano s Virgin and Child with Donor (Museum of Fine Arts, Houston), dated c. 1430 1512. Within
a hundred years, these two artists, as well as many others, developed pieces of grandeur that have been
the subject of speculation and analyzation to this day. Why? Because of their nuances that make them

The Straus Virgin and Child portrays a woman gazing at the child in her arms as if she is not actually
holding him. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, there is an extreme level of reverence being
related to the child from the virgin, who seems to have almost no personal relationship with the baby.
In turn, the baby seems to be holding a dove in his hand in such a way that causes him to appear in
perfect control of himself complete awareness of his own actions, despite his evident age. In the times
of the middle ages, it was difficult to view Jesus as a close and personal being because of the current
religious system that was in effect. Religion often acted as a method of conviction and manipulation,
therefore, depicting Mary as the virgin with baby Jesus as the child in a loving embrace was unheard
of. Having a personal and loving relationship with Christ had not yet become accessible. Romano s
Virgin and Child with Donor, on the other hand, was completely different. The virgin is seen lovingly
caressing her child with a gentle touch as the child clings to her in kind. The baby is held upright by
the mother, being more realistic to the apparent age, and seems at perfect peace as he presents the
dove in his hand like a toddler might present a toy. With the coming Renaissance era, as well as the
uprising of the Protestant Reformation, a relationship with Christ became

The Importance Of Personal Privacy
Warrantless searches of a student s person raise significant legal questions. Unlike locker searches, it
cannot be asserted that there is a lower expectation of privacy. Students have a legitimate expectation
of privacy in the contents of their pockets and their person. The Fifth Circuit noted: The Fourth
Amendment applies with its fullest vigor against any intrusion on the human body. In personal
searches, not only is it necessary to have reasonable cause to search, but also the search itself must be
reasonable. Reasonableness is assessed in terms of the specific facts and circumstances of a case.
Metal Detectors. Metal detectors are used in airports and many public buildings, but their use does

officials interest in providing a safe school environment.
Metal detectors became more commonplace in school environments in the 1990s causing their
constitutionality to be challenged. However, courts soon clarified that individualized suspicion was
not needed for schools to use of metal detectors. For example, the Pennsylvania high court upheld a
general, uniform search of all students for weapons as they entered the high school building; each
student s personal belongings were searched, and then a security officer scanned each student with a
metal detector. The court concluded that the

Essay How the Elderly Cope with the Death of a Spouse
Ever noticed an elderly couple performing normal daily activities and think to yourself, what would
they do without one another? Many of us have elderly relatives who are either married or have
someone with whom they have a tight bond with, such as a best friend, and we believe they keep each
other alive. We are all born to die, but how we cope with death is different. When someone dies,
persons affected may feel depressed, sad and even angry. Looking at death from a different
perspective, such as a loved one going to a better place, instead of a loss can cause relatives to
celebrate. This is usually the case when the cause of death is natural. When death of a spouse is

Loneliness can be part of the grieving process in such cases where no one can empathize with you.
Loneliness can be prevented by having relatives or friends participate in daily activities such as dinner,
shopping, providing entertainment, and holding conversations. A lonely person may choose not to eat,
bathe and take care of their health because their self worth has diminished. Correspondingly, a person
may avoid going out and isolate themselves. Therefore, it is so important to have someone to check on
a grieving elderly person. Following the death of a companion, the older adult may suddenly become
unhealthy. Elderly widowed people experience a profound degree of loneliness, which has been found
to cause an increase in the level of medical care, medications and mortality (Howie Mcintyre, 2002).
The health of that adult was most likely maintained by the relationship with the now deceased because
they felt they had something to live for. Also, the deceased person could have been providing financial
stability to help pay for medication and food. Now that those resources are taken away, the health of
the older adult may deteriorate increasing stress levels, which in return can present the onset of many
health issues. In addition, when the score (0 76) of ICG is high 6 months after spousal death, the

Offshore Drilling Is An Essential Part Of Today s Oil
Offshore drilling has become an essential part of today s oil production and demand for energy. With
the growth of population comes the increasing demand for oil. The oil industry today, is one of the
most used providers of energy. Today in the 20th century the majority of the population in America
has a car and cars needs gas to run. The oil reserves in the earth that are easily accessible via land are
starting to run dry and are becoming harder to find. This is why we have begun to see more and more
offshore oil drills. Although there are benefits of offshore drilling such as profit, lower gas prices, and
becoming less dependent on foreign oil. There are also many drawbacks in which if something were to
go wrong, the mistake would be catastrophic impacting the environment, the nature, and have trickling
effects all around the world.
When people hear the word oil it is commonly interpreted as gas, but the oil that we drill is not what
goes into our cars. The oil that is retrieved from the ground is called crude oil, Oil in its raw natural
form and when it becomes refined it is used in plastics, rubber, and gasoline. Gasoline is a volatile,
flammable liquid obtained from the refinement of petroleum, or crude oil. It was originally discarded
as a byproduct of kerosene production. The first oil well was found and harvested in Titusville,
Pennsylvania by a man named Edwin L. Drake, in 1859. The well was about 70 feet deep (How gas).

Essay on American Politics
Every two to four years, politicians aspire to demonstrate their competency for political office.
Political campaigns and organizations concentrate millions of dollars to undercut and outlast the
opposition. They drag names through the mud, as if it were the next step on the political corporate
ladder. The American people, caught in the middle, are torn between the need for elected officials and
the heartbreak of countless shattered oaths. Consequently, they dissociate themselves from misused
words like Democrat, Republican, and change. They have learned to bite their tongue, drink their beer
and leave well enough alone. That s exactly what the politicians want. In 1933, the political landscape

dishonesty carries through to today. Now, hiring a political consultant is a requirement and a warning:

Is Obama a Prince?
In the year 1531 the famous political philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli s wrote a treatise entitled The
Prince. It explains the proper guidelines for a prince to successfully lead a republic. Although this
sixteenth century politician s main purpose was to unite a separate Italy, his political theories have
been taken into deep consideration and are commonly exercised in politics today. If Machiavelli were
alive today he would agree that qualities of the current president Barack Obama coincide with his
prince like standards and make him the ideal candidate for the 2012 Presidential Election.

to properly oversee; one being aspects of Bush s war on terrorism. Obama began his destruction with
the CIA; in regards to interrogation tactics, Obama dispelled secret memos hidden by the Bush
administration, causing much controversy in the government. This incident brought much attention to
other faults that occurred during the previous presidents reign.
As President Obama informed the United States of the illegal secrecies President Bush with his
government agencies he successfully fulfilled Machiavelli s guidelines stated in chapter three, Of
Mixed Principalities . In this chapter he presents distinct approaches a prince should take when a new
land is acquired. Machiavelli states whoever acquires them, if he wants to hold them...the bloodline of
their ancient prince must be eliminated . As Obama unveiled many of Bush s faults, he succeeded in
turning the American people against their former leader. Along with Obama s immediate action with
Guantanamo Bay and the halting of government programs, this was another step closer to putting and
end to Bush s war on terrorism.
Although Obama took time to criticize the previous Bush administration for the war on terrorism, he
himself supported the war on terror by sending in more troops to Afghanistan his first year in office. In

The Mind-Body Problem Of Spinoza And Hobbes
This is the first portion of the circle it is the same as listening to Beethoven s Moonlight Sonata and
recognizing the musical terms, the process and techniques he uses and most importantly the soul of the
music and how to define it. Each creating their own varying opinions about the music each with a
partial truth relating back to the soul of the music.
You see through the ages of philosophy there have been many debates and opinions. Yet it is those
opinions that are the most radical that demand the most attention. On that note, we will address two
radical philosophizers: Spinoza and Hobbes. Specifically there theory s pertaining to matter and the
mind body problem posed by Descartes. As such we will first address Hobbes then move to Spinoza
and end with a combined statement on matter. Therefore we must begin by introducing Thomas
Hobbes.
Thomas Hobbes solution on the mind body problem is one of a combination. Hobbes posits that rather
than mind and body being two separate things they actually are both the same thing, matter. He
confronts Descartes by saying that the thing that is thinking and the action of thinking are not the same
things. If this is true then according to his logic we must conclude that a thinking thing is something
corporeal. This is because it seems that the subjects of all actions are comprehensible only if they are
conceived as corporeal or material. Essentially stating that the material body is the only substance
there is. To boot thoughts are

A Comparison Of Identity Crisis
Personal Reactions: I agree with Mr. Erik Erikson when he said Everybody has heard of identity crisis
and it arouses a mixture of curiosity, mirth, and discomfort which yet promises, by the very play on
the word crisis, not to turn out to be something quite as fatal as it sounds . When I hear the word crisis
I think the worse depending on the situation as an example mid life crisis. I see someone who is in a
middle age group but they not considered an elderly person along with them not being considered a
young person. I think of this person seeing themselves as being old and doing stuff to help them feel
younger by wearing clothes that the younger people wear, change their hair color, buy a sports car,
buy a motorcycle, go to the clubs, and hangout with younger people. Some people feel like they didn t
accomplish enough stuff by this particular age and try to change that by doing those things to help
them feel better with their accomplishments in life. I agree with Mr. Erik Erikson when he described
the patients who was in the war being shellshocked, nor becomes malingerers, but had through the
exigencies of war lost a sense of personal sameness and historical continuity . I know a lot of people
who say their love ones that returned from the war came back as a different person. Their love ones

experiences in the war. They battle with trying to figure out what is real and

Indian Nationalism
IIndian nationalism
Indian nationalism refers to the many underlying forces that molded the Indian independence
movement, and strongly continue to influence the politics of India, as well as being the heart of many
contrasting ideologies that have caused ethnic and religious conflict in Indian society. Indian
nationalism often imbibes the consciousness of Indians that prior to 1947, India embodied the broader
Indian subcontinent and influenced a part of Asia, known as Greater India.

More than just Indian
Indian nationalism is as much a diverse blend of nationalistic sentiments as its people are ethnically
and religiously diverse. Thus the most influential undercurrents are more than just Indian in nature.
The most controversial and emotionally charged fiber in the fabric of Indian nationalism is religion.
Religion forms a major, and in many cases, the central element of Indian life. Ethnic communities are
diverse in terms of linguistics, social traditions and history across India.
Hindu Rashtra
An important influence upon Hindu consciousness arises from the time of Islamic empires in India,
during which many Hindu temples were destroyed and Hindus forcibly converted to Islam, and
millions of Hindus killed by Muslim invaders. Entering the 20th century, Hindus formed over 75% of
the population and thus unsurprisingly the backbone and platform of the nationalist movement.
Modern Hindu thinking desired to unite Hindu society across the boundaries of caste, lingustic groups
and ethnicity. In 1925, K.B. Hedgewar founded the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Nagpur,
Maharashtra, which grew into the largest civil organization in the country, and more potent,
mainstream base of Hindu nationalism.

Rashtra, a Hindu nation. This ideology has become the

  • 2. The Crucible And Breaker Morant Analysis The tales of Arthur Miller s The Crucible and Bruce Beresford s Breaker Morant while appearing vastly different at a glance; share many common themes. These include scapegoats, trials and revenge. In The Crucible the antagonist, Abigail, is depicted as a spiteful and vengeful character that will stop at no end to gain the satisfaction of revenge through destructive means. Good Putnam is portrayed as a revenge driven character from The Crucible . Throughout The Crucible the audience witnesses the torment, backstabbing and spiteful nature of Abigail Williams, previous servant girl of the Proctor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The spiteful and envious actions of Goody Putnam, resulted in Rebecca s death. I have this morning signed away the soul of Rebecca Nurse . In Goody Putnam s search for an excuse and reason for her deceased children. He views the swaddling of Hunts jacket as a sign of disrespect and dishonour to a man that Morant held in the highest regard. Rage begins to flow through the body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On The Eucharist When one thinks of the Eucharist, they might think that it is just Christ s Body and Blood, and after we receive it, we can go along doing our own thing. That is false. You see, the Eucharist is not just something you receive on Sunday, and forget about; it is more than that. We are called to perform services in the world and in our communities because of the Eucharist. This paper is about what we are called to do after we receive the Eucharist, and what we as Catholics should be doing already. The Eucharist enables us to come together as a Church every Sunday, and sometimes more often than that. It also unites us with the angels in heaven and the deceased, which enables all of God s people to participate in the celebration of Jesus s sacrifice. As Catholics, we never really worship alone. At the Eucharistic Liturgy, we gather with the young and old, the rich and poor, as well as millions around the world and the saints in heaven, to celebrate Christ s sacrifice (Body of Christ, Broken for the World). ... One soon begins to realize that all people are children of God and need to be treated equally with dignity and respect, no matter what their race, social status, etc. Let me remind you: this is because of the Eucharist. If our Eucharistic worship is authentic, it must make us grow in awareness of the dignity of each person. The awareness of that dignity becomes the deepest motive of our relationship with our neighbor (Dominicae Cenae, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have been natural for over 6 years and I had never done this before, so it was a completely new experience for me. I HATED my straightened hair. • 9. Analysis Of Oath Of The Horatii Oath of the Horatii is life size oil on canvas painting that is about thirteen feet wide by ten feet tall. The painting was done by Jacques Louis David, who was the leading Neoclassical painter in France during the eighteenth century. David rejected the Rococo style that was popular of that time, which was characterized by fantasy and playfulness. David was interested in painting images with antiquity. The Oath of the Horatii has elements of classical Greek and Roman art and architecture. Oath of the Horatii was a political painting that David had comprised to stimulate the publics attention (Fred S. Kleiner 680). Oath of the Horatii captures a heroic and patriotic moment. Something big is happening in this composition. There are three Horatii brothers taking an oath, which is being administered by their father. The oath they are taking is to live or die for their country, which happens to be Rome. While taking this oath, the Horatii brothers are facing their father. They stand in unison with one another. They each have one leg and arm extending out. The father holds three swords up and out towards the Horatii brothers in the same pose. The Horatii brothers extended arms are saluting towards the swords. The postures of all four men appear upright and strong. There is no emotion of fear on their faces. The brothers appear athletic and fit. This can be seen in the muscular details of their legs and arms. They appear bold and ready to sacrifice their lives. The father does not ... • 10. Exploring Whether All Morality Should Reduce to Respecting... Kantian Ethics states that all morality can be reduced to respecting autonomy. This theory has faced criticisms as well as support. Its most plausible idea is that autonomous agents are capable of making their own decisions and even if their choices may not be the best for them, these choices should be respected. However, criticisms of this theory include concerns such as 1) respecting autonomy is not equivalent to respecting the autonomous agent, 2) the theory does not concern (or concerns very little) with non autonomous agents such as children and non human animals, 3) it is implausible that respecting autonomy is the only factor determining morality, and 4) respecting others autonomy does not follow from respecting one s own autonomy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In response to this predicament, Rawls presents Contractualism, where what is right is what everyone would agree to behind a Veil of Ignorance. While behind this veil, an individual is not aware of their social class, sex, race, and any other psychological traits that may prevent one from making a fair judgement. Prioritizing autonomies while behind the Veil of Ignorance can be presumed to be fair and just. However, this theory is purely hypothetical and due to this fact, even if we can make ourselves be unaware of our social class, sex, race, and other psychological traits choices made behind the veil seem irrelevant to reality. Furthermore, agreement behind the Veil of Ignorance does not ensure that the decision is actually permissive because people may agree to a sacrifice if the probability of it happening to them is rare. For instance, people may agree to harvesting organs from healthy individuals to save a greater number of individuals but this does not mean that this act is morally permissible. I have presented how Rawls Contractualism fails to support Kantian Ethics which required prioritizing between one s own autonomy against another s. Even if the problem of conflicting autonomies were resolved, Kant s theory still faces criticisms such as the fact that the theory does not respect an individual and their decisions as much as it respects autonomy, does not efficiently discourage unequal cruelty to non autonomous agents, and does not imprint any value on ... Art Nouveau Research Paper Art Nouveau When one considers the term Art Nouveau, what comes to mind most immediately is images of a European wide invasion [characterized] by the restless dynamism of organic form (Silverman 1). For me it is usually the work of Alphonse Mucha his mysterious women surrounded by the beauties of nature. Often my Art Nouveau fantasies take shape in the odd fungal shaped stained glass lamps of Tiffany. Or sometimes they surface as the romantic Parisian posters I ve seen at Pier One, advertising champagne or cats noir or bicycles or the like. Such lines are indicative of another key characteristic of the style the use of nature; for they engender an organic feeling in the work. It is important to distinguish between the use of the natural and the philosophy of Naturalism, a movement that Art Nouveau was consciously attempting to bring to an end. Naturalism seeks to portray things exactly as they are, as stark, often unflattering reality. Naturalists based this technique on the claim that true beauty will come across in the faithful representation of reality. This is exactly the opposite of how Art Nouveau artists sought to create their work. They believed in drawing from Nature the beauty she has to offer and accentuating it, doing so symbolically as opposed to realistically. Prominent Art Nouveau artist Siegfried Bing called nature the infallible code of all the laws of beauty (qtd. in Selz 14). By living through the speaker Levy is able to express her deepest thoughts and beliefs about contemporary society, and how it has come to affect her ultimately causing her to take her own life. The poem immediately sets a tone of unhappiness that is constant throughout the poem. The speaker describes the setting of the scene: the sad rain falls from Heaven (l.1). The sad rain indicates the darker state of an unjust civilization and how it causes the speaker to become depressed. The word heaven is used to signify that even God looks down on mankind and deems it unfair. Heaven also gives the poem religious context which may be related to Levy being Jewish in a dominating Christian society and how this causes her to be discriminated against. The speaker realizes their personal truths while they look from outside culture inwards. A window is used to signify a barrier between the speaker and the general public. The society that the speaker lives in is unjust and causes the speaker to feel foreign in her own culture, and thus relates to Amy Levy s present barriers as a young Jewish woman who wishes for acceptance. They do not contain a nucleus, and are unicellular. Bacteria are the most abundant microorganism. They are among the earliest forms of life that appeared on earth billions of years ago. They can grow in different temperatures and many exist naturally in our human flora, such as staphylococci. Growth within different temperatures can range from 0 degrees Celsius such as psychrotrophs, to hyperthermophiles who grown best above 70 degrees Celsius (Ritchey, Exercise 16). Bacteria have many shapes, size, and multicell arrangements. The main bacteria shapes are cocci (spherical or ovoid shaped), bacilli (straight rods), coccobacillus (short rods), fusiform bacillus (rod shaped bacilli with tapered ends), vibrio (curved rods), spirillum (single spiral bacteria), and spirochete (if it is flexible and undulating). Bacteria can form multicell arrangements, such as diplococcus (two cell arrangements) (. As I analyzed Lane 2, it became obvious that the six Rf values represented the six known amino acids; the lowest Rf value was lysine and the highest Rf value was leucine. Once the Rf values for the unknown was calculated it was easy to identify the two amino acids present in the unknown sample due to corresponding values in both lanes. Although one value (Rf = 0.515) in Lane 4 did not completely match with the second value (representing glycine) in Lane 2, I can conclude that the Rf value in Lane 4 was still glycine because the values are similar and close in range, and Lane 1 helps support my theory as ... Each creating their own varying opinions about the music each with a partial truth relating back to the soul of the music. You see through the ages of philosophy there have been many debates and opinions. Yet it is those opinions that are the most radical that demand the most attention. On that note, we will address two radical philosophizers: Spinoza and Hobbes. Specifically there theory s pertaining to matter and the mind body problem posed by Descartes. As such we will first address Hobbes then move to Spinoza and end with a combined statement on matter. Therefore we must begin by introducing Thomas Hobbes. Thomas Hobbes solution on the mind body problem is one of a combination. Hobbes posits that rather than mind and body being two separate things they actually are both the same thing, matter. He confronts Descartes by saying that the thing that is thinking and the action of thinking are not the same things. If this is true then according to his logic we must conclude that a thinking thing is something corporeal. This is because it seems that the subjects of all actions are comprehensible only if they are conceived as corporeal or material. A Comparison Of Identity Crisis Personal Reactions: I agree with Mr. Erik Erikson when he said Everybody has heard of identity crisis and it arouses a mixture of curiosity, mirth, and discomfort which yet promises, by the very play on the word crisis, not to turn out to be something quite as fatal as it sounds . When I hear the word crisis I think the worse depending on the situation as an example mid life crisis. I see someone who is in a middle age group but they not considered an elderly person along with them not being considered a young person. I think of this person seeing themselves as being old and doing stuff to help them feel younger by wearing clothes that the younger people wear, change their hair color, buy a sports car, buy a motorcycle, go to the clubs, and hangout with younger people. Some people feel like they didn t accomplish enough stuff by this particular age and try to change that by doing those things to help them feel better with their accomplishments in life. I agree with Mr. Erik Erikson when he described the patients who was in the war being shellshocked, nor becomes malingerers, but had through the exigencies of war lost a sense of personal sameness and historical continuity . Religion forms a major, and in many cases, the central element of Indian life. Ethnic communities are diverse in terms of linguistics, social traditions and history across India. Hindu Rashtra An important influence upon Hindu consciousness arises from the time of Islamic empires in India, during which many Hindu temples were destroyed and Hindus forcibly converted to Islam, and millions of Hindus killed by Muslim invaders. Entering the 20th century, Hindus formed over 75% of the population and thus unsurprisingly the backbone and platform of the nationalist movement.
