Apol 104 Hinduism Research Paper
Hinduism

Hinduism The question of origin In order for us to completely understand Hinduism, we must first
understand that this a philosophical system of beliefs. To give a definite origin of Hinduism would be
very hard to address because there are no known origins. There are no beginning points or a name of a
founder. Hinduism can be traced all the way back to around 1500 B.C in what we now call India and
has a lot of different beliefs, philosophies and views that contradict each other. All Hindus believe in
one God, a supreme being known as Brahma. Brahma is an entity believed to live in every single facet
of reality and existence throughout the whole universe. Brahma is both impersonal and unknowable
and is often believed to exist in three separate forms: Brahma, the Creator, Vishnu, the Preserver, and
Shiva, the Destroyer. Followers of Hinduism refer to their religion as tana Dharma, the perennial faith
(Hindson Caner, 2008). This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humans are accountable for actions and our lives are a result of our past actions. Humans are no more
important than animals. Many Hindu believe in reincarnation or the rebirth of the soul in a new body.
They may see an animal as someone reincarnated from a different life. When comparing Hinduism
and Christianity, they both believe in love for everyone. They both also control behavior through
either the ten commandments or through the eightfold path. When contrasting the two, Hindu s
worship multiple deities and Christians worship one God. Christians live one life on earth and when
they die they either go to heaven or to hell. Hindus believe that their soul is born as an animal and by
living the right way, they climb the ladder to a higher class throughout many

Kant s View Of Enlightenment
Kant s general proposed understanding of Enlightenment first originates with the enlightenment of the
individual. Within the first few lines of Kant s essay, what is Enlightenment? , he states the definition
of enlightenment as man s emergence from his self incurred immaturity (Kant 1). Kant first highlights
the problem of immaturity, which he says to be the inability to use one s own understanding, but lack
of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another (Kant, 1). Kant most likely sees
this problem of intellectual immaturity as a result of the interference of the church and/or the state in
allowing the free discussion of ideas and challenging of status quo ideas. As a progressive philosopher
in 18th century Prussia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, a monarch that understands that the more ideas that are expressed in a thoughtful manner, the
more society can become enlightened. As Kant succinctly describes the motto of such a monarch,
Argue as much as you like and about whatever you like, but obey! (Kant, 6). Once the intellectual
freedom is allowed to expand, people are more able to cultivate a mindset of critical thinking and are
therefore freed from the yoke of intellectual immaturity. Since individual enlightenment in some ways
actually depends on public enlightenment, this provides another condition for a fully enlightened
society to exist. While enlightenment should start from one s own process towards enlightenment
regardless of external conditions in the world, the monarch s own enlightenment and the policies he
creates for free thinking would aid in the flourishment of an enlightened society that stems from
people s comfortability to discuss their enlightened ideas in

I often comes across consumers who ask me, How can I tell what is the best garage door opener for

A decision that can only be made by you based on your personal preferences. So let s get down to the
brass tax: 1. Chain Drives The most frequently used and typically the least expensive. Chain drives
use a metal chain to run. Unfortunately the trade off is a noisy motor. Should you have a detached
garage or perhaps want to hear what time your children are coming home at night this might be a good
option. But if you d rather no noise, say because there are bedrooms above the garage, the chain drive
might NOT be for you. 2. Belt Drives Hands down, the best seller on the market today. Belt drives are
very dependable run nearly silent, thanks to their rubber belt! If you have an connected garage or hate
loud noise, this is absolutely the opener for you. Belt drives are more expensive than chain drives, but
you ll know where the extra money went when you can enjoy the sweet sound of silence. 3. Screw
Drives These use a lifting device that runs along a threaded steel rod. Not recommended because they
don t like drastic temperature changes. So if you live in a region with hot summers and cold winters,
you should consider another option. Screw drives are moderately priced but noisy and slow

Causes Of Failure Of Amazon
In the case of e commerce, which is the industry type Amazon works on, a market failure causes
would be: Externalities those can be positive or negative and occur when a demand for a product

chances to increase sales if there is a high demand on this particular category, when demand

sufficient to sustain the website, leading to its closure. Monopoly or oligopoly market structure: a new

Indian Consumers Spending Patterns On Frozen Desserts
Indian Consumers Spending Patterns on Frozen Desserts VishakhaRaut AniketAmbardekar Abstract
The research paper talks about how product attributes and demographic variables affect the decisions
of consumers to re purchase frozen desserts. The data was collected from sixty three respondents
across various age groups, income levels, gender, etc. Vadilal s, Amul and Mother Diary have a higher
usage rate as compared to other brands. Frozen desserts are generally preferred during special
occasions than regular use. Moreover, there were relationships between re purchase decision and
demographics. INTRODUCTION Frozen desserts is the universal name given to desserts that are
made by freezing liquids, semi solids and sometimes even solids. They can be based on flavoured
water i.e. shave ice, sorbets, snow cones, etc., on fruit purees like sorbet, on milk and cream i.e. ice
creams, on custards, on mousse and many others. The term Frozen Dessert is often used for products
that are identical to the taste and texture of ice cream but do not meet the legalized definition of the
term. Frozen Desserts are often made with vegetable oil i.e.mellorine as opposed to milk or cream. In
the recent past there has been a substantial evolution in the category of ice cream and frozen desserts.
A decade ago this category was limited to traditional flavours of ice creams such as vanilla, chocolate,
kesarpista, mango, elaichi, butterscotch, kulfi, etc. In the recent years, this category has grown and

Dismantling Stagnation Of South America
Dismantling stagnation in Mercosur
Introduction
Before the 1990s, economic integration in Latin America was overshadowed isolation mechanisms
placing barriers between neighboring countries in hopes of developing domestic growth. By the turn
of the last decade in the 20th century, more countries became increasingly interested in the potential
benefits of deeply integrating nations through cross border trading. The countries of the Southern
Cone of South America courageously took modern economic initiatives. Since then, the region has
created mix results of whether their choices have liberated the region of trade barriers or created a
fortress all on their own. In this paper I will be focusing on the customs union Mercosur by detailing
its creation, discussing the critical events which have contributed to the group s stagnation, and
assessing the group s current role in the global economy.
Background
In the 1980s, Argentina and Brazil placed their political differences aside and created a compact trade
agreement to further economic cooperation and stability for years to come. In 1985, the Declaration of
Iguaca opened up the dialogue between the two countries to pursue further integration with a
committee meeting specializing in the economic and industry sectors. The Argentina Brazil
Integration and Economic Cooperation Program (PICE) was later established in 1988 to start a more
modern approach to gradually cut out trade barriers and create a common market within the next ten

Jane Austen And Tom Jones
Emma, which was published in 1815, by Jane Austen and Tom Jones, published in 1749, by Henry
Fielding are novels that emphasize the impact that one s rank in the social ladder has on their
reputation. Emma Woodhouse is high in the social ladder, and as a result, is loved, respected, and
maintains a good reputation, even though her character traits aren t wonderful. She is a selfish and
impulsive, yet, that is overlooked because of her reputation. Tom Jones is impulsive, but always has
the best interest at heart, and is always looking to help people. Despite his efforts, because of his class,
he has a poor reputation. Both novels show what an impact someone s rank in the social class had in
these period times, and that their true character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is introduced with the statement: As we determined when we first sat down to write this History, to
flatter no man; but to guide our Pen throughout by the Directions of Truth, we are obliged to bring our
Heroe on the Stage in a much more disadvantageous Manner than we could wish; and to declare
honestly, even at his first Appearance, that it was the universal Opinion of all Mr. Allworthy s Family,
that he was certainly born to be hanged. (118)
This gives the impression to the reader that Tom Jones is not an honorable man, and we shouldn t
respect him or his actions throughout the novel. While Tom is an impulsive character, mostly
everything he does is to help someone else, and he always has the best intent at heart. Despite his
efforts to help the people around him and be seen as a hero, his poor reputation remains the same for a
majority of the novel. A similar flaw between Tom and Emma is the fact that both are impulsive with
their actions. This happens multiple times in Emma, especially when she tries to play matchmaker.
This is partially due to the fact that she is unable to see reality clearly, which is what happens during
her attempt at bringing Harriet and Mr. Elton together. After finding a love note, Emma excitedly tells
Harriet: There is so pointed, and so particular a meaning in this compliment, said she, that I cannot
have a moment s doubt as to Mr. Elton s intentions. You are his object and

Eulogy For Lamson
I strive to be as generous and diligent as my great grandfather, Alfred Lamson. Lamson came from
humble and challenging beginnings. He was born in Lawtell, Louisiana to a farmer turned banker
father and a german immigrant mother in 1917. At the age of one, his mother died; and at the age of
twelve, the Great Depression started. Through these trying times, Lamson found comfort in Boy
Scouts. Striving to be the outstanding in scouts, Lamson attained the rank of Eagle Scout and the
Distinguished Eagle Scout Award in 1931. Aside from these prestigious awards, Lamson also earned
all 47 possible merit badges. I know the true challenge and accomplishments of these awards, as I am

I strive to be as generous as Lamson because I know that there are many things in this world that I
have received that I do not deserve, and I feel like it is my duty to give back to those who are in need
and are less fortunate than me. Currently, I am very frugal and selfish with my money, which is a habit
that I need to break because I internally believe that I should donate money to those who need it more
than me. If I ever become as wealthy as he was, I hope to use his generosity as a guide on how I
should spend my money. His continual giving allowed him to build many relationships and positively
influence others in a way that not many could. Also, I hope to impact others through serving the
community in the way that Alfred did. I aspire to be as diligent as Lamson in work because I have
seen the success that he has attained through simply pushing through tough times with a dogged and
persevering attitude. Lamson s diligence in his occupation and community service truly distinguished
him in his community and field, and gave him many opportunities to give back and help others. In
conclusion, I hope to contain as much generosity and diligence as my great grandpa, Alfred Lamson,
had in his work and service to others. I aspire to have the same work ethic as my grandfather, James

Individuals and companies having a website must consider if the site is marketed or if it is appealing
to individuals under 13 years. Website developers need to be aware of the children s online privacy
protection act that places parents in control of the type of information that can be collected from
young children online. The legislation was designed to protect individuals less than 13 years about the
dynamic nature of the internet. The statute applies to commercial websites and online services aiming
children under 13 that collects, make use of information and gathers personal information from

Sites that include drop down menus that only permit users to enter birth years can provide users with
the chance to make themselves older than 13 and therefore cannot be considered a neutral age
screening mechanism. Another method of ensuring the design of a website is age neutral is by
avoiding encouraging minors to falsify their age information, for instance, by stating that users must
ask parental consent before participating or merely saying that users under 13 are not allowed to
participate. Upon verifying that a user is under13 and have collected personal information from them,
one can obtain their parent information to provide a direct notice and also implement parental consent
requirements. Sites that do not want to apply the act s protections for users under 13 can configure
their data system to delete personal data for users under 13 automatically. Alternatively, the sites can
remove their data and direct them to websites or material that does not involve the collection of

The Problem Of Drug Addiction
This report will outline the problems of drug addiction that have arisen in the young teens and as well
give possible solutions on how to overcome it. Drug addiction, increasing immensely in our society, is
currently the biggest problem in young teens these days. Looking at the future of our country
drowning in drugs is a big disappointment. To prevent drug addiction parents should guide their
children into the right path, schools should promote healthy living, and the government should step
forward to set up campaigns to educate parents about this topic. The riddance of drugs is a leading
factor to abolish crimes in the community. After reading this report, you will have an understanding of
how to reduce drugs from the city and the possible solutions to help over come this issue.
ISSUE:
Drug addiction has been increasing immensely among our society today and is spreading rapidly
among young teens which is not only harming their health but is also ruining precious time of their
life.
ANALYSIS WITH POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
Parents should guide their children into the right path:
A child is greatly impacted by it s parents during their childhood. Children are like clay and parents
can mould them in their initial stage of the life cycle how ever they want. Parents should have enough
knowledge about ways children get attracted toward drugs, so that they can prevent addiction for the
future. Often children with problematic backgrounds start consuming drugs because of the

Hearing People Communication
This article presented me with many observations on the way both Deaf and hearing people
communicate that I had not considered before. My prior experiences as a non signing hearing person
communicating with Deaf people have been limited to communicating through an interpreter or
slowing down my naturally fast rate of talking so that my lips could read. Admittedly, albeit naïvely, I
had never considered that I could improve my communication with other hearing people through tips
and tricks that Deaf people just use naturally when communicating with one another, however, this
article changed that completely. One thing that kind of surprised me a little at first is that Deaf people
routinely pass messages much faster and more precisely than any hearing person. It would seem like
being able to communicate orally would make getting messages across much easier, however, just
thinking back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Add on top this our tendency to speak over one another and there s a wonder we ever get anything
communicated. ASL requires deaf people to not only speak one at a time, but the people listening have
to give the speaker their full attention so that they can understand what has been said, which is
something that hearing people could definitely improve upon. I also agree with Dr. Kahne s point that
there is a huge difference between our cultures in asking for clarification. If a deaf person doesn t
understand what has been said they will ask to have it repeated, whereas there seems to be a stigma
against that for many hearing people. Since we don t have to have our eyes on the speaker to
understand them, this allows for our eyes, and quite often also our minds, to wander. As a result we
don t end up understanding all or part of what was said and then for whatever reason, instead of asking
them to repeat it, we just smile and nod and pretend like we were paying attention the entire

The Fisher Effect
The Fisher Effect
To determine true return on a company s investment, the financial manager (FM) must be able to
determine the real interest the company s investments are achieving, regardless of inflation. Irving
Fisher theorized in his work The Theory of Interest: As Determined by Impatience to Spend Income
and Opportunity to Invest it? that real interest is the price at which the supply of capital is equal to the
demand for capital. The supply is dependent on peoples willingness to save and demand is dependent
on peoples willingness to invest in viable opportunities (cited in Brealey, 2005, p. 626). This can be
further approximated by the equation: n = r + i where n is the nominal interest rate, r is the real interest
rate, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4). Long–term finances can be generated from either internal or external sources. Internal sources can
be the sales of fixed assets and funds from the company s trading activities. External sources include
the issuing of securities, preferred and common stock, bonds, and long–term loans (Kerr, 1997).
FM s must use many of the financial theories discussed above to reach an appropriate balance between
financing long term projects with outside debt. In the US, only 25% of this financing comes form new
debt or new equity (Ross, 2005, p. 400). As previously discussed, short term assets, namely cash,
finance the day to day operation of the business. Since long term financing is cheaper than short term
financing, some FM s may choose to keep enough cash in hand funded form long term sources, so
they never need to use more expensive short term borrowing. However, long term funds are typically
obtained in large blocks and this could be inefficient (Kerr, 1997).

North America And South America
Both North and South Americas span across many latitudes. This means that they experience many
different climates. North America is very wide and experiences continentality. South America is more
narrow and does not experience the same level of continentality. Both Americas have rain shadow
effect in their south west. They have desert areas created by this rain shadow. South America has a
huge tropical area that North America does not experience, but South America does not have an arctic
area like North America.
The physical geography of the Americas has lots to do with where the population densities are located.
These locations are also heavily rooted in colonialism. When the first settlers arrived in the Americas
the set up trading posts and small communities along the coasts. In areas that were good for growing
crops, the would bring slaves from africa to work the farms growing these resources for the European
states. (Demos, 2013) The population distribution has as much to do with colonialism as the Physical
geography. Whether they were called Native Americans, First Nations or Amerindian the people who
inhabited these lands in the pre Christopher Columbus times were often forced off their lands and onto
land deemed undesirable to the European colonist. The Europeans also brought many people of
African descent to the Americas as slave labor. While times have changed and both descendants of

Video Games Cause Violence Essay
Video Games Cause Violence
Video games have become a major occupation of majority of the youth these days. They spend hours
on end concentrating on video games, some of which are apparently very violent, yet this is actually
the whole idea. Coming from the horse s mouth is an argument in support of video games coined from
a video programmer s point of view, stating that violent video games allow people to do what they can
not do in reality virtual reality. ( http://www.theroc.org/roc mag/textarch/roc 15/roc15 08.htm ) For
instance, someone said to be having a bad day could use a violent video game to release stress by

The focus on these games is not only to kill, but also to torture and maim in the process.
The story line behind some violent video games includes games in which players earn points by
carjacking taxis, scoring drugs from cursing thugs, and mowing down pedestrians.(see
http://www.feedmag.com/vgs/duncan.html ) Some cartoonish tag lines in some sadistic video games
include : As easy as killing babies with axes and More fun than killing your neighbour s cats . This
kind of themes definitely influence the players, especially the younger ones, and inflict violent
tendencies on them. It is no wonder, that this killing mania in violent games was seen to seep out into
the actual world when a high school junior opened fire in his school cafetaria in Littleton, Colorado,
killing two of his classmates. The gunman was reported to be an ardent fan of Quake and Doom, some
rather violent video games. More proof of the relationship between video games and violence is
revealed by a study which clearly reveals how this kind of entertainment affects our lives. Greater
details of the history of how high school students turned gunmen in Columbine High School are given,
which shows that the effect of video games in their lives was a major source of influence in doing
what they did best.

THE MAGNITUDE OF SIN
THEO 202 001
Statement of Topic The analysis of biblical data provides the best understanding of the nature, source
and consequences of sin. Sin is any evil action or motive that is in opposition to God. Sin has very
serious consequences when it comes to relationships between the sinner and God. Sin also has severe
consequences that affect the individual sinner, causing the individual to have social implications. It is
evident from both the Old Testament and the New Testament descriptions of sin, that sin is universal.
Both testaments describe the extent and intensiveness of sin. Obtaining a contemporary view of the

45,79). Basically, everything you do is right and wrong doesn t exist. Just accept yourself for who you
are. The bible on the other hand says that some acts of conduct is just not acceptable. For example
Amos 5:15 and Romans 12:9, hate evil love good. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. How can
we do this if nothing is any worse than anything else?
Psychology also often justifies sin in the name of freedom and ventilating feelings. Paul C. Vitz writes
about Donald Campbell, president of the American Psychological Association, criticized psychology
as follows; There is in psychology today a general background assumption...that repressive or
inhibitory moral traditions are wrong (p. 49). The secular psychologists advocate that the clients
should freely express what they thing and feel. For example, pornography is justified as an outlet for
sexual desires that might otherwise express themselves in violent assaults. The bible teaches that
people ought to control and discipline themselves to do God s will. In Galatians 5:22 self control is
listed as a fruit of the spirit that is to be developed.
The final issue secular psychologists have against the sin nature is that sin should not be condemned
or rebuked. Psychologists often say that sinful practices should be handled in a non directive, non
judgmental way. They are told to listen sympathetically, but never to tell people their conduct is wrong
or sinful, never rebuke them, never tell them they must

My Experience Of Volunteering At A Local Nursing Home
I signed up to volunteer at a local nursing home. Because my father works there, I have been there
many times before. However, volunteering there was very new to me.
I had to understand the circumstances in which people were in and how interact with residents
respectfully and compassionately which provided opportunities for personal growth by practicing
integrity, justice and good stewardship. Though I was a bit hesitant, my experience has been very
positive. Just being a volunteer without any related experience or skills, I was unqualified to help and
many ways. The few menial tasks that I was able to do seemed to be met with much enthusiasm and
appreciation. Simply helping someone to their seat bringing them a cup of tea or ... Show more

Throughout their history, their mission was always to provide quality care with respect and dignity to
the elderly.
I had my moments of success and happiness when I was able to help someone along and see how
appreciative they were. There were also times that were saddening and uncomfortable. When visiting
rooms, I did encounter people who were losing grip on their mental and physical abilities. I felt a
heaviness because even though they were taken care of, there wasn t that could be done to make them
better. It was inspiring seeing nurses and family members continuing to care for them and keep
dignity.
I do believe my action had an impact on the residents. When assisting with activities for the residents,
we were able to spend less time setting up less time residents needed to just sit and wait for the
activity to being. The impact made was I was able to get services to the residents (who can and do get
impatient when waiting to play bingo.) I also think that simple gestures of kindness were enough to
brighten someone s day which in and of itself makes it worthwhile.
From this understanding, we as a people have a responsibility to unite in the pursuit of justice in order
to make all voices heard and recognize those who are in the greatest need. Practice of these teachings
would undoubtedly promote the common good. When seeking out suffering and seeing to it that
injustice is overcome

Descriptive Essay About Kahului Airport
As I leave for Oregon I enter the Kahului airport, a fairly familiar site as I ve been here a number of
times for various reasons. Once inside I head to my destination, which isn t too hard to find. The
airport is sparsely populated with people awaiting their flights. On the way to my gate I come across a
hot dog stand selling overpriced hot dogs. With nothing else to eat I bought one for myself and one for
each of my brothers. Aside from each bite being a mouthful of onions, it was decent enough. Maybe
he d make more of a profit if he halved the amount of onions he used on each hotdog. I sit at one of
the seats that line the aisles to eat my overpriced food. Beside me my brothers sit and eat their own
hotdogs, the seats across the aisle remain empty much like most of the airport. The time comes to
board the plane, the small space is filled and we take off shortly after. Looking out the window all you
can see is the dark of night and the lights coming from the island. With a long flight ahead, I do my
best to rest while I can. Following a six hour flight from Maui I arrive in San Francisco. I step off the
plane and am greeted by a sea of people and an airport much larger than the one in Kahului. The much
more calm feeling of the island is replaced by the hustle and bustle of the much larger city, quite
honestly it s a tad strange. There was not a moment s rest for these people as they hurried along from
one gate to the next. There s no order in the way people walk, sometimes

Similarities And Differences Between Antonia And The Great...
Both books were about love in some way. They both focus on a character who cares very deeply for a
significant woman. Gatsby was obsessed over Daisy. Jim loved Antonia. The woman they loved had
difficult lives, due to the fact that women s lives were set up to be made hard. They had to marry a
man of decent wealth, or do slave work. These were most women s only choices. There were no jobs
other than slave work for a woman, with only a few exceptions. Antonia was stuck doing slave work
for years, while Daisy was with a horrible rich man for support.
With both books one main choice a woman had to make was whether they would depend on a man.
Daisy made the choice yes, while Antonia at first was against this. In this world they lived in, the
easiest life decision they could make would usually be to find a nice man they could fall in love with,
marry, and depend on financially. This world was a man s world when it came to work, so almost
every woman would want a man. If this is the life they choose to lead, then they need to maintain the
perfect image that men look for. They need to live with a respectable family if doing slave work, not
have any children already, not have had sex with anyone and have the information known publicly,
and so on. Men, especially men of wealth, won t be attracted to a woman who contradicts any of these.
Therefore, Antonia had a hard time. She was offered a job with a man who is known to sleep with his
workers, or worse, but pays far more than the opposing jobs she could get. She would be putting her
reputation down the drain if she accepted, but at this point in time she wasn t looking to depend on
anyone. Daisy fell in love with a man of much wealth, who has regular affairs. She shows her love for
him a handful of times throughout The Great Gatsby, so she wasn t involved for just the money. The
money is most likely why she fell for him in the first place, and part of the reason she stays, but over
time she developed a love for him. Tom is a horrible husband to Daisy, but without him she would
have next to no income, with no job opportunities that would help her match her life style. This is why
life can be so difficult for women at this time. They can t get good jobs, and in many

Wheatley. Wheatley was born in 1753, in West Africa. In 1761, when Wheatley was roughly seven or
eight years of age; she was purchased as a personal slave for Susannah Wheatley, the wife of John
Wheatley. Phillis was taught to read and write from Susannah Wheatley s daughter, Mary in between
her household duties. At an early age, Wheatley was deeply involved in the Bible and multitude of
other things to include Latin and Greek to English Literature. Wheatley s love of poetry began when
she was just twelve years old. At this age, she started writing poetry and Phillis first poem was
published in 1770. (Carretta, 2011)
The heavy emphasis in Wheatley s work cannot bypass realism of her background. She wrote

A Research Project On Action Research
Introduction: Action research is a structured process of inquiry by and for the person taking the action.
The primary reason for doing this study is to assist the person conducting the study to improve or
refine an issue seen to need improvement. The Action Research Project that I conducted was fun
because I was working with 5th grade students and they still have some innocence left and they enjoy
and are excited about participating in projects that I have worked on this semester. I fear that they
were more excited about participating than actually participating.
The challenges I faced during this project were that I did not have as many students as I would have
liked for participation and data analysis. The spring semester is the time that teachers are conducting
benchmark testing and preparing for the STAAR standardized tests. My mentor teacher assisted me in
selecting students that she had observed as not having a huge interest in reading. Unfortunately the
students chosen were ones that required intensive tutoring in preparation for the STAAR tests. This
was interesting in that students that struggled on the benchmarks and standardized tests were ones that
were not motivated readers.
Action Research Question: My initial action research question was: What is the impact of allowing
students to choose texts based on their interests on their attitudes about reading? Dr. Stufft felt that this
question was a too broad for a study so I modified my question to read: How

Pride In Hamlet Essay
The battle between pride, an emotional force of confidence, and fate, a supernatural force that controls
every aspect of humans lives, is ongoing in every human. To live an honorable and honest life, people
must balance their pride and humility, but when pride becomes excessive, fate begins to assert power
on the person until the person meets the inevitable collapse. Thomas Hardy, in The Return of the
Native, and William Shakespeare, in The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, discuss the
controlling power of supernatural forces. In The Return of the Native, Egdon Heath controls the lives
of its inhabitants by exhibiting power over the supernatural force of fate. Clym Yeobright s excessive
pride in his ambitious endeavor causes his blindness which symbolizes his regression from the
advanced society of Paris to the primitive nature of Egdon Heath. Similarly, Eustacia Vye s pride in
what she calls passionate love (Hardy 74) causes her death as she resists her fate. In William
Shakespeare s, The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Denmark s restrictive powers force
Hamlet to face a moral dilemma between pride and fate which ultimately leads to ... Show more

figurative blindness gives him insight into the reality of life: fate controls everything in the world.
Even though he understands his position in the world, it is too late for Clym to repair his mistake of
disturbing nature. His blindness forces him to abandon his idealistic plan and become a furze cutter.

Inside Sport By Robert Drane Summary
There was a time when Billie Jean King was always in the news. Robert Drane writes about the
uphills of women s tennis for Inside Sport. Being a respected tennis athlete as a girl in the 1970s was
all but easy, but Billie Jean King demanded the respect she deserved. Drane shows the readers that
King altered the way women s sports were looked at, which led to an even bigger movement in
women s equality. King had always been a huge feminist advocate and Drane writes about her strength
as a player and a person. Using logical facts and King s credibility the article successfully shows how
King changed the course of women s tennis, when it seemed there was no hope.
First, Drane goes on to show the reader that King was highly respected in women s tennis. He states,

losing this match would set us back 50 years... It would ruin women s tennis and affect all women s
self esteem. After he beat Australia s Margaret Court, he dubbed himself as a hustler . King wanted to
prove herself and make Riggs eat his words as they say. So she did, when she won 6 4, 6 3, 6 3,

Is waterboarding suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay justifiable in order to save American lives?
For years since the attacks on 9/11, prisoners suspected of terrorist actions have been treated poorly
and taken to bases like Guantanamo Bay where they are interrogated and abused past levels of
legality. This is upsetting how the United States government tortures people only suspected of terrorist
activity. There have been many incidents where innocent people were accused of terrorist activity and
harassed. After the bombing of the Boston Marathon, three innocent muslim men were put in custody

Comparing Two Different Types Of English Riding
In the competitive world of horseback riding, there are two distinct styles: english and western. Even
though both sports require a horse, there are differences in the equipment you ride in, the type of
horse, and the basics of the sport.
The first difference is the type of equipment used in the sport. When riding, you use a saddle of
course, but saddles are made a hundred different ways for certain types of activity. For example, the
saddle you use. For a barrel racer, which is western, the saddle you use has a longer horn for the
ability to grab it when turning the barrels. The saddle is also heavier and thicker so it allows the barrel
racer to sit deep in the seat when going fast. For a jumper, which is english riding, the saddle has no
horn and is extremely light. The saddle is so light because the horse can jump higher and the only
weight that needs to be on the horse is the rider itself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different breeds of horses have different body structures, different speeds, and different temperaments
that fit with the sport they are used in. In all western sports quarter horses are mainly used even
though other types are used. Quarter horses are usually short and have very muscular hindquarters and
they also have the ability to reach top speed at a quarter of a mile, hence the name quarter horse .
Western sports are timed events but the fastest time wins, which is why this short and fast little horse
is used primarily in the western world of horseback riding. If you attend any english riding sport, the
horses you see are usually tall. For example you wouldn t see a short quarter horse in the jumping
arena trying to jump the high jumps. Thoroughbreds are a common breed spotted in the english arena
because of their build. They are quite tall and that also allows them to be used in racing because of

Impact Of Black Friday
Impact of Black Friday on Society
We already know that the Black Friday is an American tradition that consists of a drop in prices in
major stores, during the last Friday of November, coinciding with the opening of Christmas shopping.
But what is the origin of this celebration?
The first use of the term Black Friday occurred not to refer to Christmas shopping, but in relation to an
economic crisis: on Friday, September 24, 1869, two relentless Wall Street financiers, Jay Gould and
Jim Fisk, After an intense work to obtain great benefits, they failed in their efforts, and the market
went bankrupt. For that reason, that day was named as the Black Friday .
Another of the stories that accompany the term Black Friday has to do with the role of small
businesses in the market. Tradition has it that, after a whole year of losses, finally, after Thanksgiving,
the Christmas season arrived, the day from which the benefits began, and with them, instead of red
numbers, black numbers were produced.
Others claim that its origin dates back to November 19, 1975, the day in which the New York Times
first coined the adjective black to refer to the disorder of the traffic and the chaos that had occurred in
the city of Nueva York in that year, due to discounts the day after Thanksgiving.
The tradition is indeed a positive practice for the economy of a country, simultaneously, gives the
possibility to millions of hard workers to recover their lost through the year, and to

communications, making it one of America s largest airlines with 3,300 flights a day to 72 domestic
cities. Southwest Airlines has used all four possible elements of the promotion mix: advertising, public
relations, personal selling, and sales promotion, but has focused primarily on advertising and public
relations to add value to the product offered to customers. Its focus on advertising and public relations
is directly related to its large size and it s nationwide reach. Also, advertising and public relations are

Southwest Airlines flight crews regularly contribute to the company s promotional activities through
building the Southwest brand, engaging the target market, and enhancing Southwest Airlines beyond
the budget flight.
Building the Brand: Southwest Airlines is well known as a Texas based company that has a human
side and a down home attitude. Because of its large size, Southwest Airlines uses a variety of larger
promotional methods, such as national advertisements and strong public relations to promote an image
of a fun LUVing brand. But, flight crews are the closest interactions that a customer has with the
product, budget flights, which are a simple, undistinguished product. The quirky commercials and
cheap flights appeal to a target market that is budget conscious but still enjoys the fun side of life. The
flight crews bridge the gap between the fun, unique commercials and the actual flight experience. By
interacting with customers and joking around with passengers, they are able to grow customer
allegiance in this market by acting in the same way that the brand has tried to portray itself.
Engaging the target market: Southwest Airlines attracts both budget conscious customers and those
who are looking to have an interesting travel experience. Oftentimes, these two targets overlap as one
market. The flight crews are supposed to display a Warrior Spirit, a Servant s Heart, and a Fun
LUVing attitude, which is intended to engage the flight crew with the

Devaluation May Provide A Country With Devaluation
By looking at the conclusions that are drawn from the analysis of two different case studies, it can be
claimed that devaluation might succeed in achieving its main goals (increasing exports, boosting the
domestic economy and correct trade imbalances). Nevertheless, the negative consequences that result
from it (such as inflation, increasing unemployment, expensive imports) seem to overweight the
benefits that devaluation could provide a country with. This thesis will be discussed in the essay firstly
by giving a brief definition of devaluation, by addressing its characteristics and causes, and by
speculating on why devaluation might work theoretically. Then, it will use the two case studies of a
developed (China) and a developing (Bangladesh) countries to support the argument that, overall,
devaluation appears to be an unsuccessful economic strategy.
First, devaluation is commonly defined as a monetary policy tool that can be used by countries having
a fixed exchange rate and it consists of weakening artificially the domestic currency in relation to the
foreign ones (Begg et al. 2003). It is usually adopted by states that are facing trade deficits (when
imports exceed exports), and its major aim is to raise the prices of foreign goods relative to home
goods, in order to create excess demand for domestic production (Krugman and Taylor 1976, 1).
Several can be the causes for a fall in a country s export demand (such as high inflation, changes in the
foreign exchange

The city expects to continue its recovery adding over 70,000 new residents with at least 25% in need
of a new home by 2035. There is no doubt that the increase of residents will increase the demand for
homes supporting the projected employment growth, which is expected to attract household names
companies in need of young professional talent to the area. For sellers the area s trend is positive with
employment projections expected to increase by over 27% during the next 10 years. The impact may
be the anticipated new development planned for Magnolia Center and its surrounding communities.

The Great Fire of 1871 Essay example
Today I ll talk about a horrible disaster that happened one night in 1871. It started out a peaceful night
with the wind blowing harder than usual. Almost everyone was asleep because of their normal busy
lives that they thought they would be doing in the morning.
The Beginning
October 8, 1871: It was a dry, dry Sunday night. Dan Sullivan went on a walk to visit some neighbors,
but when he got to the neighborhood he saw flames rolling out of the O Leary s barn. He took action
and immediately started to yell, FIRE! to wake up his friends and neighbors. Dennis Rogan had heard
Mr. Sullivan and quickly ran to the O Leary s house. He tried knocking on the door, but then he busted
down the door and started yelling for the O Leary s to wake up. ... Show more content on

The firefighter s barricade of water and firefighting was not enough. The fire was scorching hot. You
could get burned by standing by it. The firefighters had an idea of one firefighter holding a door in
between a firefighter and the fire while he sprayed it. This plan worked well until the door burst into
flames. Soon the little barricade of fire trucks and firefighters was broken and they were forced back.
A Call for Help That Never Got Heard When the chief saw that his men were being pushed back he
sent a young firefighter rushing to Goll s Drugstore to send in an alarm for reinforcements. When the
firefighter got there Goll was gone so he broke the glass that guarded the alarm box and pushed the
button down. Unfortunately, he forgot to push it down a second time telling the office that it was a
message for reinforcements. Instead the alarm office at the courthouse thought it was another person
turning in the exact same fire. So they never sent in extra trucks. It wasn t until the watchman from
different station saw that the fire and the extra trucks were sent. By then it was too late the flames
were now too big for any of the trucks to handle. The fire soon grew bigger and bigger. Then it started
to move to the west side of Chicago. At first people thought it would be no big deal. But soon they
saw it advance to their homes with big orange and crimson flames. Hundreds of people rushed to flee

Struggles and Desires in A Streetcar Named Desire by...
In the play A Streetcar Named Desire, author Tennessee Williams uses his three main characters
Stanley, Stella and Blanche to illustrate the theme of sexual hedonism in a world where each struggles
for survival and desires to belong. Stanley Kowalski and his wife Stella live in a two room apartment
on Stanley s blue collar salary. They are visited by Stella s sister Blanche Dubois who has just lost the
family plantation, Belle Reve. The three exist in the jungle society of New Orleans where each is a
victim of animal desires, social pressures and use sex to try and gain control of the world around them.
Stanley is the protagonist who is trying to exist in the wild and as an untamed animal uses sex as
power and control. In the opening scene we see him toss meat wrapped in butcher paper to Stella,
almost like the lion who goes out to hunt and returns to the den with his kill, Stanley carries his
bowling jacket and a red stained package from a butcher...He heaves the package at her (13, 14). Later
in the play, during a poker game, Blanche continues to turn on the radio, even after Stanley has
demanded she leave it off. Stanley reacts, Stanley stalks fiercely through the portieres into the
bedroom... with a shouted oath, he tosses the instrument out the window (57). This is followed by the
beating of Stella by Stanley. Every instance of conflict for Stanley is resolved with aggressive
behavior, emphasizing his animal like tendencies, and how he uses violence to maintain

Political Ideology In Pakistan Research Paper
Ideology
Ideology is a comprehensive set of normative beliefs, conscious and unconscious ideas, that an
individual, group or society has. In social studies, a political ideology is a certain ethical set of ideals,
principles, doctrine or symbols of a social movement, or a large group that explains how a society
should work .1 Political ideologies are concerned with many different aspects of society including the
economy, education, health care, justice system and foreign policy.
There are two dimensions to political ideologies:
Goals
Methods
Goals refer to beliefs of a party about how a government and country should work and methods refers
to the path a party may take to achieve them.

During its rule, PMLN has always emphasized the role of free market and individual achievements. It
has worked extensively on deregulating all segments of economic order, and strong base for
capitalism. As a result of these efforts huge foreign investments have entered Pakistan during the
current tenure, an example of this can be the 61 billion dollar investment by China. As a result of the
improving economic conditions it is estimated that Pakistan will be one of the top economies in the
world by 2025 if the current growth and policies continue. Therefore, the claim that
Pakistan, a country with the GDP growth rate of close to 5.3%2 is a failing economy is nothing more
than a political statement. Another important claim made by many from opposition is about the
amount of loan the current government has taken in the

Examples Of Epistemological Enquiry Into Mary Shelley s...
Epistemological Enquiry into Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Regarded as a canonical example of Gothic
Fiction, Mary Shelley s Frankenstein stands as a classical debate between scientific endeavour and
philosophical understanding. Both aims at improving the life of mankind the former through
experimentation and explanation of the properties of physical objects, the latter, through reflective
study of fundamental problems having non physical existence like truth and falsehood, virtue and
vice, reason and justice and so on. Science can be called empirical philosophy as it was once regarded
as natural philosophy, an offshoot of philosophy itself, only to be branched out after 19th century into
a separate discipline. A large section of scholarship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the girl is engaged to a man named Albert, whom she soon marries. The unrequited love
becomes a reason of terrible torment for Werther who finds himself a part of a love triangle, that can
only be resolved through death of one of them. The hopelessness of his situation drives Werther to
commit suicide. Significantly, none attends his funeral neither Albert, Lotte or any clergyman. The
book raises several enquiries in the monster s mind. Firstly, the monster finds him in a similar
situation as Werther, a state of complete desolation. He is forsaken by mankind as well as by his
creator. He realises that love is indispensable for life and hence, asks Victor to create a female
companion, as deformed and horrible as he is with whom he can escape into the vast wilds of South
America , where no human being shall find them again. Secondly, the book raises existential questions
in the monster as he ponders over his identity, which not even Victor has thought about. Thirdly,
Shelley is preparing a ground for the final fate of the monster. Once he kills Victor, he realizes
remorsefully that Victor was his father and that he is left with none to offer him pity or compassion.
The dejection and disappointment, hatred and suffering drives him to commit

Essay On Asian American Stereotypes
Asian Stereotypes are everywhere in our society. Racial stereotypes often arise from fear of the
unknown. In the history of the different forms stereotypes often result from prejudice. It helps to
explain why people tend to think that Asians do not drive well. But the statistics do not show this
conclusion, also why blacks are more likely to be arrested or shot by the police. Specific racial
stereotypes tend to have cultural background, while other racial stereotypes are simply due to the
oversimplification of complex information.
Stereotypes of Asians in particular have been around for a long of time. In the late 19th century, many
Asians went to the United States to pursue their dream because they want to improve their family
quality of life. And they work so hard to make money so Americans were afraid that the Asian laborers
would invade the country and let them loose the job opportunity. So the term Chinky Chink was used
to explain the American afraid that a huge number of Asians will live in America and become

Apol 104 Hinduism Research Paper Hinduism Lewis Brian Griffin APOL 104 Liberty University Hinduism The question of origin In order for us to completely understand Hinduism, we must first understand that this a philosophical system of beliefs. To give a definite origin of Hinduism would be very hard to address because there are no known origins. There are no beginning points or a name of a founder. Hinduism can be traced all the way back to around 1500 B.C in what we now call India and has a lot of different beliefs, philosophies and views that contradict each other. All Hindus believe in one God, a supreme being known as Brahma. Brahma is an entity believed to live in every single facet of reality and existence throughout the whole universe. Brahma is both impersonal and unknowable and is often believed to exist in three separate forms: Brahma, the Creator, Vishnu, the Preserver, and Shiva, the Destroyer. • 3. Kant s View Of Enlightenment Kant s general proposed understanding of Enlightenment first originates with the enlightenment of the individual. Within the first few lines of Kant s essay, what is Enlightenment? , he states the definition of enlightenment as man s emergence from his self incurred immaturity (Kant 1). Kant first highlights the problem of immaturity, which he says to be the inability to use one s own understanding, but lack of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another (Kant, 1). Kant most likely sees this problem of intellectual immaturity as a result of the interference of the church and/or the state in allowing the free discussion of ideas and challenging of status quo ideas. Thus, a monarch that understands that the more ideas that are expressed in a thoughtful manner, the more society can become enlightened. As Kant succinctly describes the motto of such a monarch, Argue as much as you like and about whatever you like, but obey! (Kant, 6). Once the intellectual freedom is allowed to expand, people are more able to cultivate a mindset of critical thinking and are therefore freed from the yoke of intellectual immaturity. Since individual enlightenment in some ways actually depends on public enlightenment, this provides another condition for a fully enlightened society to exist. While enlightenment should start from one s own process towards enlightenment regardless of external conditions in the world, the monarch s own enlightenment and the policies he creates for free thinking would aid in the flourishment of an enlightened society that stems from people s comfortability to discuss their enlightened ideas in ... Indian Consumers Spending Patterns On Frozen Desserts Indian Consumers Spending Patterns on Frozen Desserts VishakhaRaut AniketAmbardekar Abstract The research paper talks about how product attributes and demographic variables affect the decisions of consumers to re purchase frozen desserts. The data was collected from sixty three respondents across various age groups, income levels, gender, etc. Vadilal s, Amul and Mother Diary have a higher usage rate as compared to other brands. Frozen desserts are generally preferred during special occasions than regular use. Moreover, there were relationships between re purchase decision and demographics. INTRODUCTION Frozen desserts is the universal name given to desserts that are made by freezing liquids, semi solids and sometimes even solids. They can be based on flavoured water i.e. shave ice, sorbets, snow cones, etc., on fruit purees like sorbet, on milk and cream i.e. ice creams, on custards, on mousse and many others. The term Frozen Dessert is often used for products that are identical to the taste and texture of ice cream but do not meet the legalized definition of the term. Frozen Desserts are often made with vegetable oil i.e.mellorine as opposed to milk or cream. In the recent past there has been a substantial evolution in the category of ice cream and frozen desserts. Background In the 1980s, Argentina and Brazil placed their political differences aside and created a compact trade agreement to further economic cooperation and stability for years to come. In 1985, the Declaration of Iguaca opened up the dialogue between the two countries to pursue further integration with a committee meeting specializing in the economic and industry sectors. The Argentina Brazil Integration and Economic Cooperation Program (PICE) was later established in 1988 to start a more modern approach to gradually cut out trade barriers and create a common market within the next ten ... Jane Austen And Tom Jones Emma, which was published in 1815, by Jane Austen and Tom Jones, published in 1749, by Henry Fielding are novels that emphasize the impact that one s rank in the social ladder has on their reputation. Emma Woodhouse is high in the social ladder, and as a result, is loved, respected, and maintains a good reputation, even though her character traits aren t wonderful. She is a selfish and impulsive, yet, that is overlooked because of her reputation. Tom Jones is impulsive, but always has the best interest at heart, and is always looking to help people. Despite his efforts, because of his class, he has a poor reputation. Both novels show what an impact someone s rank in the social class had in these period times, and that their true character ... While Tom is an impulsive character, mostly everything he does is to help someone else, and he always has the best intent at heart. Despite his efforts to help the people around him and be seen as a hero, his poor reputation remains the same for a majority of the novel. A similar flaw between Tom and Emma is the fact that both are impulsive with their actions. This happens multiple times in Emma, especially when she tries to play matchmaker. This is partially due to the fact that she is unable to see reality clearly, which is what happens during her attempt at bringing Harriet and Mr. Elton together. I also agree with Dr. Kahne s point that there is a huge difference between our cultures in asking for clarification. If a deaf person doesn t understand what has been said they will ask to have it repeated, whereas there seems to be a stigma against that for many hearing people. Since we don t have to have our eyes on the speaker to understand them, this allows for our eyes, and quite often also our minds, to wander. The Fisher Effect The Fisher Effect To determine true return on a company s investment, the financial manager (FM) must be able to determine the real interest the company s investments are achieving, regardless of inflation. Irving Fisher theorized in his work The Theory of Interest: As Determined by Impatience to Spend Income and Opportunity to Invest it? that real interest is the price at which the supply of capital is equal to the demand for capital. The supply is dependent on peoples willingness to save and demand is dependent on peoples willingness to invest in viable opportunities (cited in Brealey, 2005, p. 626). Long–term finances can be generated from either internal or external sources. Internal sources can be the sales of fixed assets and funds from the company s trading activities. External sources include the issuing of securities, preferred and common stock, bonds, and long–term loans (Kerr, 1997). FM s must use many of the financial theories discussed above to reach an appropriate balance between financing long term projects with outside debt. In the US, only 25% of this financing comes form new debt or new equity (Ross, 2005, p. 400). As previously discussed, short term assets, namely cash, finance the day to day operation of the business. Since long term financing is cheaper than short term financing, some FM s may choose to keep enough cash in hand funded form long term sources, so they never need to use more expensive short term borrowing. For example Amos 5:15 and Romans 12:9, hate evil love good. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. How can we do this if nothing is any worse than anything else? Psychology also often justifies sin in the name of freedom and ventilating feelings. Paul C. Vitz writes about Donald Campbell, president of the American Psychological Association, criticized psychology as follows; There is in psychology today a general background assumption...that repressive or inhibitory moral traditions are wrong (p. 49). The secular psychologists advocate that the clients should freely express what they thing and feel. For example, pornography is justified as an outlet for sexual desires that might otherwise express themselves in violent assaults. The bible teaches that people ought to control and discipline themselves to do God s will. In Galatians 5:22 self control is listed as a fruit of the spirit that is to be developed. The final issue secular psychologists have against the sin nature is that sin should not be condemned or rebuked. Psychologists often say that sinful practices should be handled in a non directive, non judgmental way. They are told to listen sympathetically, but never to tell people their conduct is wrong or sinful, never rebuke them, never tell them they must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, volunteering there was very new to me. I had to understand the circumstances in which people were in and how interact with residents respectfully and compassionately which provided opportunities for personal growth by practicing integrity, justice and good stewardship. Though I was a bit hesitant, my experience has been very positive. Just being a volunteer without any related experience or skills, I was unqualified to help and many ways. I had my moments of success and happiness when I was able to help someone along and see how appreciative they were. There were also times that were saddening and uncomfortable. When visiting rooms, I did encounter people who were losing grip on their mental and physical abilities. I felt a heaviness because even though they were taken care of, there wasn t that could be done to make them better. It was inspiring seeing nurses and family members continuing to care for them and keep dignity. I do believe my action had an impact on the residents. When assisting with activities for the residents, we were able to spend less time setting up less time residents needed to just sit and wait for the activity to being. The impact made was I was able to get services to the residents (who can and do get impatient when waiting to play bingo.) I also think that simple gestures of kindness were enough to brighten someone s day which in and of itself makes it worthwhile. Once inside I head to my destination, which isn t too hard to find. The airport is sparsely populated with people awaiting their flights. On the way to my gate I come across a hot dog stand selling overpriced hot dogs. With nothing else to eat I bought one for myself and one for each of my brothers. Aside from each bite being a mouthful of onions, it was decent enough. Maybe he d make more of a profit if he halved the amount of onions he used on each hotdog. I sit at one of the seats that line the aisles to eat my overpriced food. Beside me my brothers sit and eat their own hotdogs, the seats across the aisle remain empty much like most of the airport. The time comes to board the plane, the small space is filled and we take off shortly after. Looking out the window all you can see is the dark of night and the lights coming from the island. With a long flight ahead, I do my best to rest while I can. Following a six hour flight from Maui I arrive in San Francisco. I step off the plane and am greeted by a sea of people and an airport much larger than the one in Kahului. The much more calm feeling of the island is replaced by the hustle and bustle of the much larger city, quite honestly it s a tad strange. • 23. Similarities And Differences Between Antonia And The Great... Both books were about love in some way. They both focus on a character who cares very deeply for a significant woman. Gatsby was obsessed over Daisy. Jim loved Antonia. The woman they loved had difficult lives, due to the fact that women s lives were set up to be made hard. They had to marry a man of decent wealth, or do slave work. These were most women s only choices. There were no jobs other than slave work for a woman, with only a few exceptions. Antonia was stuck doing slave work for years, while Daisy was with a horrible rich man for support. With both books one main choice a woman had to make was whether they would depend on a man. Daisy made the choice yes, while Antonia at first was against this. In this world they lived in, the easiest life decision they could make would usually be to find a nice man they could fall in love with, marry, and depend on financially. This world was a man s world when it came to work, so almost every woman would want a man. If this is the life they choose to lead, then they need to maintain the perfect image that men look for. They need to live with a respectable family if doing slave work, not have any children already, not have had sex with anyone and have the information known publicly, and so on. Men, especially men of wealth, won t be attracted to a woman who contradicts any of these. Therefore, Antonia had a hard time. She was offered a job with a man who is known to sleep with his workers, or worse, but pays far more than the opposing jobs she could get. She would be putting her reputation down the drain if she accepted, but at this point in time she wasn t looking to depend on anyone. Daisy fell in love with a man of much wealth, who has regular affairs. She shows her love for him a handful of times throughout The Great Gatsby, so she wasn t involved for just the money. The money is most likely why she fell for him in the first place, and part of the reason she stays, but over time she developed a love for him. Tom is a horrible husband to Daisy, but without him she would have next to no income, with no job opportunities that would help her match her life style. This is why life can be so difficult for women at this time. They can t get good jobs, and in many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The primary reason for doing this study is to assist the person conducting the study to improve or refine an issue seen to need improvement. The Action Research Project that I conducted was fun because I was working with 5th grade students and they still have some innocence left and they enjoy and are excited about participating in projects that I have worked on this semester. I fear that they were more excited about participating than actually participating. The challenges I faced during this project were that I did not have as many students as I would have liked for participation and data analysis. The spring semester is the time that teachers are conducting benchmark testing and preparing for the STAAR standardized tests. My mentor teacher assisted me in selecting students that she had observed as not having a huge interest in reading. Unfortunately the students chosen were ones that required intensive tutoring in preparation for the STAAR tests. This was interesting in that students that struggled on the benchmarks and standardized tests were ones that were not motivated readers. Action Research Question: My initial action research question was: What is the impact of allowing students to choose texts based on their interests on their attitudes about reading? Dr. Stufft felt that this question was a too broad for a study so I modified my question to read: How ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To live an honorable and honest life, people must balance their pride and humility, but when pride becomes excessive, fate begins to assert power on the person until the person meets the inevitable collapse. Thomas Hardy, in The Return of the Native, and William Shakespeare, in The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, discuss the controlling power of supernatural forces. In The Return of the Native, Egdon Heath controls the lives of its inhabitants by exhibiting power over the supernatural force of fate. Clym Yeobright s excessive pride in his ambitious endeavor causes his blindness which symbolizes his regression from the advanced society of Paris to the primitive nature of Egdon Heath. Even though both sports require a horse, there are differences in the equipment you ride in, the type of horse, and the basics of the sport. The first difference is the type of equipment used in the sport. When riding, you use a saddle of course, but saddles are made a hundred different ways for certain types of activity. For example, the saddle you use. For a barrel racer, which is western, the saddle you use has a longer horn for the ability to grab it when turning the barrels. The saddle is also heavier and thicker so it allows the barrel racer to sit deep in the seat when going fast. For a jumper, which is english riding, the saddle has no horn and is extremely light. Impact Of Black Friday Impact of Black Friday on Society We already know that the Black Friday is an American tradition that consists of a drop in prices in major stores, during the last Friday of November, coinciding with the opening of Christmas shopping. But what is the origin of this celebration? The first use of the term Black Friday occurred not to refer to Christmas shopping, but in relation to an economic crisis: on Friday, September 24, 1869, two relentless Wall Street financiers, Jay Gould and Jim Fisk, After an intense work to obtain great benefits, they failed in their efforts, and the market went bankrupt. For that reason, that day was named as the Black Friday . Another of the stories that accompany the term Black Friday has to do with the role of small businesses in the market. Tradition has it that, after a whole year of losses, finally, after Thanksgiving, the Christmas season arrived, the day from which the benefits began, and with them, instead of red numbers, black numbers were produced. Others claim that its origin dates back to November 19, 1975, the day in which the New York Times first coined the adjective black to refer to the disorder of the traffic and the chaos that had occurred in the city of Nueva York in that year, due to discounts the day after Thanksgiving. The tradition is indeed a positive practice for the economy of a country, simultaneously, gives the possibility to millions of hard workers to recover their lost through the year, and to ... • 41. Devaluation May Provide A Country With Devaluation By looking at the conclusions that are drawn from the analysis of two different case studies, it can be claimed that devaluation might succeed in achieving its main goals (increasing exports, boosting the domestic economy and correct trade imbalances). Nevertheless, the negative consequences that result from it (such as inflation, increasing unemployment, expensive imports) seem to overweight the benefits that devaluation could provide a country with. This thesis will be discussed in the essay firstly by giving a brief definition of devaluation, by addressing its characteristics and causes, and by speculating on why devaluation might work theoretically. Then, it will use the two case studies of a developed (China) and a developing (Bangladesh) countries to support the argument that, overall, devaluation appears to be an unsuccessful economic strategy. First, devaluation is commonly defined as a monetary policy tool that can be used by countries having a fixed exchange rate and it consists of weakening artificially the domestic currency in relation to the foreign ones (Begg et al. 2003). It is usually adopted by states that are facing trade deficits (when imports exceed exports), and its major aim is to raise the prices of foreign goods relative to home goods, in order to create excess demand for domestic production (Krugman and Taylor 1976, 1). Several can be the causes for a fall in a country s export demand (such as high inflation, changes in the foreign exchange ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
