Informal Expressions For The Homelessness
Informal Expressions
Range: There are a multitude of ways that actions are taken outside of the government and other
formal systems. Those being the hundreds of advocacy groups, charities, and nonprofit organizations
across the country. People are always holding fundraisers for organizations dedicated to helping this
population and to collect products and clothes for the homeless. These organizations collect anything
from everyday clothes, to hygiene products like menstrual pads and toothpaste, to medical items like
Neosporin and Band Aids. Some individual actions that are taken are to donate these necessary items
to organizations or give them directly to the homeless population. People can also volunteer their time
providing food by working at a homeless shelter, food bank, or soup kitchen. Others, may work at
transitional services that help train homeless people to work certain jobs, pay their bills, or acquire
skills such as gardening. Alternately, people may feel passionate about educating others about
homelessness and the stereotypes and stigma that surround these individuals, especially those who
also have mental health issues.
Since mental health services are difficult for most of the homeless population to access, many groups
and individuals use political activism to encourage access to these services. Local mental health
clinics work to provide free or low cost mental health care for the homeless but since they do not
receive a great deal of money for these

Mixed Culture And The Criminal Justice System
Culture concerns and influences, in conjunction with mixed culture, have a great effect on the justice
system we see in place today. Throughout this paper, these topics, as well as contemporary methods
that are used in societies of mixed culture and their relatedness and effect on nondiscrimination
policies will be analyzes and discussed. The nine principles related to Sir Robert Peel s position on
policing and the implications his theory may or may not have on organizing a police department in
America in today s day and age will also be examined. America has been deemed, and has always
been, a melting pot cultures, and with this mixing of very diverse cultures comes many different
morals, ideals, and ethics. It is important to realize, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because it is unreasonable to think that every member of the criminal justice system was raised with
exposure and understanding of all cultures, it is imperative that the officer (or any form of
government) makes an effort to become culturally competent, especially in the cultures that they
primarily work with. The direct effect the mixing of so many cultures has on the justice system is that
it is constantly being challenged, reformed, and changed. When trying to create a black and white set
of laws, it is nearly impossible to encompass multiple cultures, for example many European countries
are doing away with capital punishment, which has been in practice for thousands of years, because of
the cultural shift deeming it as cruel and unusual punishment and while in America there are still states
that utilize capital punishment, it is obviously there is a similar trend here in its decline of supporters.
There are many contemporary methods used in societies of mixed cultures. There are many motions
set into place to create a fair and level justice system for all of the people who may come into contact
with it. On the most basic level, there is a trial given to those accused of a crime in front of a jury of
their peers, with emphasis on a jury of peers. This is important because it allows the jurors to have an
understanding of the

Brady Mac s Tumors Research Paper
Have you ever experienced losing the one you love? Do you remember what it feels like? It almost
feels like you are empty, that a part of yourself is missing. Whether it is your marriage or short term
partner, a breakup isn t easy, but is it for the best? Well imagine being in a band with the person does
the band break up... or do you work it out and create something magical? Some say it s better to have
loved and lost than to never have loved at all, and in Fleetwood Mac s case that is defiantly the
reasoning behind their album Rumours. Millions of people were able to relate to Fleetwood Mac s
Rumors due to the way they were able to make a private matter public. This disquisition will explain
why Fleetwood Mac s Rumours is considered a classic album; What exactly has to be taken into
consideration for an album to be considered a classic? A classic album should include stupendous
artistry, sharp production work, iconic packaging, critical acclaim, and even the albums commercial
success. In the late 1970 s all of the members of Fleetwood Mac s relationships happened to be falling

band went on tour for their previous album Fleetwood Mac, putting Rumours on hold. The band was
inspired to get their story out there, No one expected Rumours to be such a hit. During production the
producers used different methods like layering beats and vocals on top of each other. The final result

Family Practitioner Personal Statement
As I stepped off the plane for the first time at Maurice Bishop International Airport on the small island
of Grenada I had no idea where the next four years would take me. I was just a young man from a
small town in rural Iowa who had never lived outside of the United States, setting out on an adventure
to pursue a degree in medicine. While working at a number of local health fairs on the island, I was
able to spend a lot of time interacting with members of the community discussing their personal
struggles with health. For many of my patients it was a poor understanding of how to maintain a
healthy lifestyle or a lack of resources, while others were afraid of the stigma associated with disease
and mental health. Though my time in Grenada was short, it was interactions such as these that
continue to motivate me to focus on primary care, preventative medicine, and decreasing disparities in
healthcare.
Entering my clinical years brought along with it an entirely new set of challenges, but I was pleasantly
surprised to find my niche while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

more than their genetic and physiologic profile. Moreover, it has given me the skills necessary to
reach not only my patients, but also the community as a whole. Furthermore, as a graduate of St.

Determining If Hess Law Works In A Demonstration Of Four...
Hess Law Lab Report
The purpose of the experiment is to determine if Hess Law works in a laboratory experiment
consisting of four different reactions. During the first reaction, cold water was placed into a
calorimeter and continually mixed with a stir bar. Hot water was then added into the calorimeter while
the probe recorded the temperature readings throughout the reaction. The temperature change was then
used to find the specific heat of the calorimeter. The same process was used in the second, third, and
fourth reactions of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide, ammonium chloride and sodium
hydroxide, and ammonia and hydrochloric acid respectively in order to determine the heats of
reaction.

Forensic Evidence From A Crime Scene
Procedures used to examine and recover forensic evidence from a crime scene.
There are many different procedures in Forensic Science which are used to gather evidence from
crime scenes, all of which vary due to no crime scene being identical. Examining the evidence from a
crime scene is essential and a very important factor of Forensic Science. The evidence gathered from a
crime scene will provide facts and piece together information regarding the crime committed, this
information is then used to form a case and debate what happened at the crime scene. Once all the
information is gathered and the facts are established, the case is then presented to a court of justice to
prove or disprove any facts and evidence.
Usually there are many steps when examining and recovering forensic evidence for a crime scene and
these are as follow.
Planning to examine a crime scene
When planning to examine a crime scene all aspects should be taken into account before entering. The
first thing that should happen is cordoning off the crime scene, this is predominately performed by the
police and is done so to ensure the crime scene is not contaminated by public access. Once the scene is
secure access is restricted to the police and forensic team. When planning to examine a crime scene
key information should be available which will help identify the location, area and what type of crime
has been committed. This information will enable the forensic team to competently perform a rigorous
examination

How Magical Realism Is Achieved
How Magical Realism is Achieved and What it Portrays in Juan Rulfo s Novel: Pedro Paramo
The idea that most do not understand situations outside of linear time and space is readily apparent
through Immanuel Kant s idea that space and time are the framework within which the mind is
constrained to construct its experience of reality. With this idea in mind, Juan Rulfo s novel, Pedro
Paramo, is purposely constructed in complete defiance of linear time and space. Rulfo aimed to create
a sense of connectedness between the reader and the main character, Juan, as well as portraying and
criticizing the catholic idea of purgatory, all through the use of magical realism.
The sense of confusion, found throughout the novel, aids in creating an ... Show more content on

He tells us this himself when he states the murmuring killed me, these being the echoes.... Trapped
behind the walls, or beneath the cobblestones the haunting voices coming from the ghosts in the town
who wanted to escape purgatory (Rulfo 41, 58). Therefore, one can conclude he died of fear, which is
supported by Dorotea when she said that Juan was already stiff as a board and all drawn up like a
person who d died of fright (Rulfo 58). Hence, bringing back the feeling of disbelief and confusion to
the reader, further expressing the use of magical realism.
The structure of the novel also contributed to the stages of magical realism since Rulfo s choice of a
structure less structure caused some to believe that the novel has no timeline. Rulfo creates the
uncommon structure through the use of shifts. He constantly switches the narrators from one to
another with no transition, which unexpectedly interrupts the story line and adds to the aspect of
broken time and the sense of confusion. Rulfo presents this idea when the main narrator, Preciado,
ends a paragraph by saying I will. I ll come later, then the story changes to another person s
perspective, whose name is not mentioned (Rulfo 11). However, the person whose name is not
mentioned, begins his story by talking about Water dripping from the roof tiles..., then mentioned that
The storm had passed (Rulfo 11). Then, later in the novel, when Preciado s perspective

Homeschool Is Not School At Home
Homeschool First time I heard about homeschooling, I had tons of question about it. I was wondering.
What are some requirement that parents have go through to be able to teach their children? Why
parents choose homeschool rather then let s their children go to compound school, and how they
manage their schedule? What are some approach that parents use to teach? However, after question
myself; the image of homeschooling have refresh on my childhood s school. During my childhood,
my family used to do homeschool. My dad provide chalks, blackboard, and textbooks. My uncle and
my brother were teachers. They taught my sibling and me math, reading and writing. Sometime, my
dad taught us English. Some people define that homeschool is not school at home and some people
say that it is a school at home. Anyway, my definition of homeschool is school that educate with
everything that we learn from, and from the real life that have the parents as teachers and partners that
learn a long. Homeschool started in the 1960s and 1970s when some parents didn t like publish school
system. In the mid 1980s, homeschool had been well and had increased from 150000 to 200000
children. In the mid 1990s, the number of children had risen from 500000 to 600000, (Linsenbach 3).
Up to today, Homeschool have increase double the number of the student up to 2.5 million. The
requirements for homeschooling are varies from different state. The first important the requirement is

Usage of Propaganda in Totalitarian Governments versus...
Propaganda is everywhere any human looks. It is the base of almost every government. But, seeing as
how other governments are worse than the American government, it s worse in other areas of the
world. The role of propaganda in a totalitarian government is very important, especially when
compared to a democratic type of government, mostly because democracies don t usually want to
control every aspect of life.
Information or ideas that are spread by an organized group or government to influence people s
opinions, especially by not giving all the facts or by secretly emphasizing only one way of looking at
the facts is what propaganda is ( Cambridge Dictionaries ). So basically, it s the government making
people believe in what they want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
14).
The Nazis hid their people from the truth. Hitler told his men to just not tell the German people the
truth at all. He just wanted them to know what they needed to know and leave out all of the rest.
Democratic countries, however, are completely opposite. Democratic countries must present at least
some of the truth in their propaganda. Any free person will eventually discover the truth, so
democratic countries don t really think too much of their propaganda. When propaganda has been
uncovered, and the people discover that it is distorted or full of lies, it becomes ineffective (
Democratic vs. Enemy Propaganda para. 5).
The people completely understood democracy. The people used to act together, almost as if they were
like an assembly line. The people used to be in charge of the legitimate authority, and political power.
Nowadays, the only thing the people control is limited. They have the right to pick and choose who is
of the political authority. Then, that political authority is given to by a person who the people who
have elected to lead their country ( Democracy para.1).
However, people have the right to know all of the truth of any situation, so democratic propaganda has
to abide by that rule, no matter how ugly the truth may be. The truth is not only in the rules of
democracy, but is also a slap of reality for a policy that is

Using One-Stage Cluster Sampling
In cluster sampling, instead of selecting all the subjects from the entire population right off, the
researcher must take several steps in order to gather his or her sample population.
First, the researcher must select various groups or clusters, and then from each cluster, the researcher
begins to choose the individual subjects by either simple random or systematic random sampling. The
researcher can even opt to include the entire cluster and not just a subset from it depending on the
design study they have chosen.
For my particular study, I have chosen to use a simple random control trial, which is pretty common
for the testing of behavioral sciences. I have also chosen to use one stage cluster sample, this sample
includes all of the children with PTSD and severe forms of trauma that were picked from all the
randomly selected clusters in the sample set. I did this to keep my internal validity high and avoid
selection bias, as well as minimizing any other form of bias and threats to internal validity by

Talented Play Builder
To be a credible play builder I feel as though you have to be talented in all three areas; good at
improvising, being a good actor and good at collaborating with other actors. They are very important
to being an effective play builder because they all have important attributes involved which help
benefit the play builder for it to be successful.
Being a good actor is important in this circumstance in my opinion because, being talented at the one
thing that is involved with a play it beneficial, the play builder is able to place themselves in the shoes
of the actor and will be able to see the positives and the strengths of each of the actors and be able to

Collaboration is important because another party may have a better line or idea that works better with
the scene or the script. This can also help with character development by creating greater aspects and
backing stories towards the characters. Being good at collaboration also means being good at
cooperation and team work so these skills not only benefit play building but helps advance an actor to
become better in who they are. Working with other play builders can be difficult but also teaches to be
patient and understanding towards other play builders and helps create a relationship by listening and
joining ideas to make one great piece that suits all.
In conclusion, I believe that all three of these aspects are important to being a skilled and great play
builder because being a good actor involves being able to develop a character, being a good
improviser helps a play builder be a quick thinker and shows how creative one can be on the spot and
how fast a scene can be altered, and being great at collaborations because this involves teamwork and
cooperation, due to the fact that being able to work with someone else can help advance a piece and or
a character. These skills should be acquired to be an effective play

Theme Of Corruption In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a man is born innocent and is corrupted by
society. Golding illustrates innocence and corruption with ethical, and emotional appeals based on
human nature. Group influence, a distracted society, and group influence can corrupt a man. With that
said, innocence is only temporary.
Ordinarily, individuals are born innocent, although man signify corruption by society through group
influence. For example, a text in a Newsela article reads I ransacked. I pillaged. I took people s things
by force. ( In a war, children without a childhood 1) For instance, in Lord of the Flies, the littluns
chanted, Kill the beast! Cut its throat! Spill the blood! (Golding 52) You all already see that these kids
are brainwashed by Jack. When society changes, innocence becomes lost. Overall, people around you
can affect who you become.
Moreover, is a corruption of a distracted society. Ralph is left, holding the conch, with no one but
Piggy. (Golding 38) The littluns didn t realize that they were becoming more savage each day. They
were unaware and too distracted by other implements in order towards noticing what they re turning
into. In an article, a man said Please, God, protect my family. (Kyle Hopkins 2) The family was at risk
for turbulence. The man knew of the situation, but the rest of the family was oblivious of, to the reality
from the outside. Distractions expose the benevolent and inadequate in all people.
In addition to the topic, fear causes the loss of innocence leading towards corruption. My dignity was
on the floor having to grab a piece of my dead friend and eat it in order to survive. ( I had to eat a
piece of my friend to survive 1) The man bespeaks terror onto death, remarkably he did something
inhuman in order for him to survive on the frontier. To illustrate this theme, the text in LOTF says
...great shuddering spasms of grief that seemed to wrench his whole body. (Golding 202) This is
significant because it shows that the boys fear the guilt. The boys then realize what they what they ve
done, who ve they killed and what atrocities they ve committed. In other hands, it illustrates that a
man can switch up his morals when he s scared.

Importance of Childcare Background Checks
Criminal Background Checks Childcare background checks have always been important for those
hiring people to work particularly with children. But, the recent rise in child related crimes in the past
decade has made this kind of check even more important, not only to people hiring childcare workers,
but for anyone that will be providing care for a child in any way. This includes volunteers working
with children in a public daycare center, church daycare center, home daycare center, and even for
volunteers at summer camp. Parents have become much more protective over their children, and with
good cause (Oliveri, 2008). Organizations that hire employees or volunteers are accountable for their
actions and must make sure, as best they can, that the people representing them can be trusted with
their clients. Employers should be well informed on the risk of failing to conduct screening checks of
potential volunteers or employees, as they may be held legally and morally accountable through
vicarious liability. Vicarious liability makes an organization accountable for the behavior of volunteers
or employees under certain circumstances. It functions on the supposition the organization has
aggravated the risk that harm would take place. It makes sure that organizations take all rational
measures to decrease the risk of harm by using methods such as screening. If they fail to take
reasonable measures to reduce the risk of harm to their clients, an organization (such as a school,

Medical Products Liability Lawsuit Case
Medical Products Liability Claims in the Wake of Coleman v. Medtronic
The California Court of Appeals decision in Coleman v. Medtronic has made it easier for plaintiffs to
pursue medical products liability claims. In the landmark 2014 decision, the court held that the state
law tort claims asserted by the plaintiff were not federally preempted. The decision is part of a
growing body of medical products liability law regarding the circumstances under which a state law
claim can impose parallel requirements to those under the Food, Drug Cosmetics Act (FDCA) and,
therefore, avoid federal preemption.
The Facts of the Case
John Coleman filed a product liability lawsuit against Medtronic, Inc., and Medtronic Sofamor Danek
USA, Inc. (collectively, Medtronic), alleging that he suffered painful complications after a spinal
surgery in which Infuse, Medtronic s federally approved bone fusion medical device, was used in an
off label manner.
The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) granted Infuse premarket approval for use in certain types of
spinal fusion surgeries, including Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (Anterior Fusion). The type of
surgery Coleman underwent Posterior Fusion was promoted by Medtronic but not approved by the
FDA. As detailed in court documents, studies funded by Medtronic found that the medical device
could cause bone growth in the spinal canal, but the company did not report the adverse events to the
FDA. Medtronic was also aware that adverse

Fahrenheit 451 Phoenix Analysis
Why are phoenix and a fireman the same
In fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury compares a phoenix and a fireman alike.
Animal and nature imagery the novel nature is presented as a force of innocence and the truth
beginning with clarisse s. Clarisse s convinces montag to taste the rain and the experience change him

enlightening power of unspoiled nature. The phoenix is a symbol for renewal for life follows death in
a cleaning fire. The hearth or fireplace is a traditional symbol of the home the salamander is one the
official symbols of the fireman. The phoenix is a lizard who is a mythic being able to live even in the
presence of a fire it s skin is cold and suggested that cold body can put out the flame the rising
phoenix out of the ashes live again. Fire is an interesting symbol in fahrenheit 451 because it
symbolizes two different meanings. The fireman who burn books and wear the number 451 on their
helments fire symolizes destruction (451 is the temperature at which paper and books burn.) when fire
is controlled symbolizes the flickering of self awareness and knowledge. After the city is reduced to
ashes by bombers in fahrenheit 451 granger compares mankind to phoenix that burns itself up and
then rises out of it s ashes over and over again both destroy themselves in fire and both start up again
amid the ashes. Ray Bradbury describes a phoenix as water and a fireman as fire the hearth and the

Ukiyo-E Research Paper
The name of the art form, ukiyo e, translates to paintings of the floating world . They are Japanese
woodblock prints that flourished during the Edo Period (1603 1867) and depicted subjects associated
with impermanence and detachment from ordinary life. Among these subjects were the popular geisha,

The themes in ukiyo e focused on fleeting beauty and evanescent worlds; it was an escape from the
boring and mundane world of responsibilities in everyday life. At first, Ukiyo e artworks were all

At the same time, it expanded to reflect modern tastes and innovations over its development. The
result was an art that was both populist and highly sophisticated. Ukiyo e presented both the historical

extraordinary in the hands of the artist.
Each image was created through a collaboration of four skilled individuals: the artist who designed the
works and drew them in ink, the carver who carved the designs into a woodblock, the printer who
applied pigments to the woodblock and printed each color on handmade paper, and the publisher who
coordinated the efforts of the artists and marketed the artworks. In spite of this collaborative effort,

Notes On The Lord God
1 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down
in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. 2 And he led me around among them, and behold,
there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. 3 And he said to
me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, you know. 4 Then he said to me,
Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5 Thus says the
Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. 6 And I will lay

Background of the book of Ezekiel The book of Ezekiel covers the dates between Ezekiel s call in July
593 B.C. through his last vision in April 571 B.C. Before the book of Ezekiel can be properly
understood some previous dates must first be discussed. When King Solomon died the nation of Israel
split into two kingdoms. The first kingdom was still known as Israel, the Northern Kingdom, whose
capital was Samaria. The second kingdom became known by the name of the tribe of Judah, the
Southern Kingdom, whose capital was Jerusalem. Israel fell to the nation of Assyria in 722 B.C. In
604 B.C. Josiah became king of Judah. Josiah attempted to have a revival in the nation. Though it
worked superficially, it was not a genuine revival for the nation. Nineveh, the capital of Assyria, fell in
612 B.C. Most in the nation of Israel took this as a sign that Josiah s reforms had work. Josiah took the

The Diagnosis Of Heart Disease
DATA MINING IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF HEART DISEASE
Data mining as it has been established is simply a way of getting hidden knowledge or information
from data, the technique(s) employed search for concurrency, relationships, and outliers in this data
that they present as knowledge [4]. This knowledge can then be used in different applications.
Prediction is one of the ways that the hidden knowledge gotten from the data can be used. The main
aim is to use a large number of past values to consider probable future [9]. Heart disease is the
common term for a variety of diseases, conditions, and disorders that affect the heart and the blood
vessels [6]. Symptoms of heart disease vary depending on the type of heart disease. Congenital heart
disease suggests to a problem with the heart s structure and function due to abnormal heart
development before birth. Congestive heart failure is when the heart does not pump adequate blood to
the other organs in the body [8]. Coronary heart disease or in its medical term Ischemic heart disease
is the most frequent type of heart problem [24]. Coronary heart disease is a term that refers to damage
to the heart that happens because its blood supply is decreased; it leads to fatty deposits build up on
the linings of the blood vessels that provide the heart muscles with blood, resulting in heart failure.
Heart disease prediction using data mining is one of the most interesting and challenging tasks.

Islam in Latin America Essay
Islam in Latin America
Although Islam is probably the least understood religion, Islam is the second largest religion in the
world with more than one billion followers, which is one fifth of the world s population today. Islam
was first stated publicly in the seventh century and now has advanced into a variety of different forms
( Major Religions). The central theme of this paper revolves around the religion of Islam and how it is
practice in two Latin American countries, Peru and Panama.

Years after the Muslim religion evolved, Muslims came to Peru with the coming of the Spaniards.
Muslims were then called Moros and they were even called Moors by the Spaniards, the Muslims
came to Peru to escape persecution in Spain. They stayed in many places in Latin America,
particularly in Peru, where they had a strong influence on the local way of life including, dress, food,
architecture, and the social and political systems ( History of Islam in Peru). Similar to the Muslims in
the U.S. the woman of Islam in Peru wore hijab s until just recently, they were called Las Tapadas
Limeñas for a long period of time.
In 1940 even more Muslims fled to Peru, from the migration of Palestine and Lebanon, they were
fleeing the Jewish persecution. Coming to Peru was very beneficial to them as far as wealth was
concern; the only bad thing was for the time that they were in Peru they began to lose their Islamic
identity. Information as to why the Muslims that fled to Peru lost their Islamic identity, I think is
obvious because they had to adapt to a different atmosphere. As times begin to persist different
musalla s would open and close because of lack of funding until finally the nomadic Muslims had
nowhere to worship Allah.
Devoid of choices, another group of Muslims came to Panama. As a method to differentiate from the
Muslims that came to Peru, the Muslims that came to Panama did not flee there from persecution, but

Gary Ridgway s The Green River Killer
The infamous Green River Killer otherwise known as Gary Ridgway was one of the more interesting
cases that I had come across while researching criminals to choose as a topic, mainly because there
was so much media coverage regarding this case. Gary was convicted of killing at least forty eight
plus people, and had confessed to killing more than seventy people; I can only really wonder what
could cause him to commit such atrocious crimes, which is what led me to choosing him as my topic
of interest for this paper. I will be covering everything from his early life all the way to where he is

The Green River Killer. On the date of February 18, 1949, Gary Leon Ridgway was brought into this
world by parents Mary Ridgway and Tom Ridgway in the city of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was raised
in Seattle, Washington along with his two brothers, one older and one younger. Growing up Gary had

Wide Sargasso Sea Analysis
In Wide Sargasso Sea, by Jean Rhys, culture causes belonging as well as insecurity. In this novel,
characters from the Caribbean and England are put side by side to highlight how strong cultures affect
those without one. Christophine and R hold strong ties to their identities through their ethnic
background, while Antionette is left wondering, who I am and where is my country and where do I
belong (61). Rhys uses the binary opposition of these two contrasting characters to convey that people
rely on their cultures for their identity and because of this, those who do not fit into a certain group
have trouble defining themselves.
Christophine, a former slave and servant to Antionette s family, relies on her Afro Caribbean roots to
dictate her beliefs and shape her as a person. When Antionette wants Christophine to help her using
obeah, Christophine tells Antionette that obeah is not for béké , using the word béké, a slang term for a
white person (68). Through this, Christophine separates herself from Antionette and defines herself
through her ethnic background. Although she is very close to Antionette, Christophine clearly
identifies with a different culture and therefore there is a distance between them that cannot be
removed. This culture is one that she identifies so strongly with that she will risk being caught and
thrown in jail for her beliefs. It is revealed by Daniel Cosway that Christophine was put in jail for
practicing obeah but she continues to practice this

The benefits are received for a number of years in future. The entry for a capital expenditure results
with an increase in the fixed asset of the entity. Revenue expenditures are expenditures that are
immediately charged against revenues as an expense (Weygandt, Kimmel, amp; Kieso, 2010 p. 409)
such as repair costs, maintenance charges, and renewal expenses. This expenditure helps maintain the
business and the effects are temporary due to the benefit is received within the accounting year. The
entry for revenue expenditure do not form part of the fixed asset cost, they are expensed in the income
statement in the time of when they were incurred. Accounts payables are short term debts a company
owes to its creditors. Notes payables are usually written contracts and long term debts companies have
promises to pay its creditors. Accrued expenses are recognized by a company before they are paid for.
An example of this would be a tax bill received from the town or city the company is located in. While
all of these are recognized as current liabilities on a company s financial reports they are all recorded
in different time frames. Account payables are recognized when they are incurred and the payment of
them is also due at the same time. Where both Notes payables and Accrued expenses are shown in the

Skywest 5569, crippling the nose gear of the B 737 and igniting an explosion that resulted in the two

passengers, 3 cabin crewmembers, and the First Officer successfully evacuated the burning B 737

Investigation
During the investigation, NTSB investigators processed and analyzed voice recordings, toxicology

understanding the diminished situational awareness that took place that day. USA 1493 s FDR and the

Hypocrisy In Voltaire s Candide
Candide, with his innocent optimism, taught the reader that there isn t always a silver lining; Irene
Redfield proved that one s judgement and actions don t always go hand in hand; Bob Hicok illustrated
that, despite all of one s observations, hope can still be found. These lessons were brought to us, for
the most part, through observations which these narrators had seen and experienced. The lessons
found in these texts also show the hypocrisy which these characters have, despite their observations
and experiences, still permeates their beliefs and morals. To begin, it would be best to know what
observation entails: the term observation means the action or process of observing something or
someone carefully or in order to gain information or, in fewer words, gaining knowledge through
watching the world around us. The use of such vivid imagery and observation has long been a
powerful weapon in the arsenal of great writers, like Stephen King and J.K. Rowling, and has brought
about multiple lessons and teachings for people throughout the ages. The narrator s observations in
Voltaire s Candide, or Optimism , Larson s Passing and Hicok s Go Greyhound allows them to realize
their own hypocrisy and disconnect between their actions/experiences and beliefs.
Voltaire s use of imagery and satire in Candide, or Optimism allows the reader to contemplate how
Candide has such an optimistic attitude in the face of the trials and tribulations which he and his
friends endured.

In these letters we overhear how Wormwood s first assignment is going, what tempting strategies he

but just beneath his tone he seems to dislike his young mentee. In every letter, Screwtape belittles

For example Screwtape tells Wormwood to do everything in his power to keep his patient from regular
communion with God, and to convince the patient that being busy in life and ministry is an acceptable
excuse not to spend regular time in prayer. If you can get him to rationalize that because he offers
short prayers to God throughout the day, he doesn t need to have a dedicated and disciplined time of
prayer. If you can get him to the point where he tells people he prayed for them, without actually
praying for them, even better. This example tells me that having a dedicated time to pray is something
Satin doesn t want. This is just one of many instances where I recognise Satan s deception. Indeed the

Parable of the Sower, by Octavia Butler, is the story of a girl, Lauren, forming a new sort of religion in
a post apocalyptic world. As she travels through the remnants of a lost world, she begins to formulate
her own belief system and calls it Earthseed. In short, Earthseed is described as a combination of
Buddhism, existentialism, Sufism in addition to other worldly beliefs (261). All in all, Lauren hopes to
create a new, sustainable religious community, and in turn, one day, a better human society. Despite
being raised in a rather religious community and family, with a preacher for a father, Lauren finds
faults with the God she has been taught to worship. She learns to shape her own ideas and beliefs
about religion and God to adapt to the dystopian world she has been brought up in. This brings us to
the question of: what is god? The simple answer to this question, according to Lauren is that God is
Change . The first chapter entry of the novel explains the fundamentals of Earthseed, she writes: All
that you touch you Change. All that you Change Changes you. The only lasting truth is change. God is
Change. (3). This seems rather logical, especially in the context of a distorted and dangerous world.
Lauren does not see God as a divine being, but as an idea or concept; there is no one face of God as
God is all around us in the shape of change. How could God be a divine being worthy or worship if he
could allow the total destruction of functional society and outbreak

Assess The Role Of Tattooing In Non-Western Culture
The art of tattooing has been around for centuries, with origins dating back before the year 325, when
it was banned by the Roman Empire and made its return once again around the 18th century via
British explorers returning from Polynesia. Tattooing practices vary around the world, specifically in
their meaning and significance cross culturally. For instance, tattooing practices and significance in
Western cultures vary significantly than in non Western cultures. Specifically, in traditional cultures,
tattooing often marks a crucial period or a rite of passage in an individual s life, such as the transition

The Transformation of the International System due to the...
Rise of Networks and ICTs are transforming the International System
Introduction
Revolution in Information Technology has changed the entire meaning of International Social and
Economic System. This change became more prominent in the fourth quarter of twentieth century
when the core activities of circulation, consumption and production of markets, information,
technology, labor, capital and raw materials all started to be controlled globally. These activities are
now organized directly or by means of network connection between business and economic agents.
This system of new economy is more commonly known as globalization and when we talk about it,
the first thing that comes to mind is an instant exchange of information and trading by means of
networks. Information and communication technology has played a major role in globalizing the
world and transforming the international social and economic system.
Globalization has now created the business market networks in which the whole world participates to
raise the economy and thus profitability. In fact, it is now not possible to think of globalization without
understanding the concept of networks. In order to compete with the rest of the world, every nation or
business has to grow their network.
As noted in World Summit on IT, Information and Communication technology is acting like a catalyst
in making development to social and economic system of the world. ICT is expected and already

to drugs and dangerous lifestyles, unnecessarily long and obnoxious solo performances, and overly
loud and unnecessary amps that almost sounded like they were going all the way to 11 instead of 10. It
seemed that Rock and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical genre. It is in this
environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in.
This is Spinal Tap is a 1984 mock documentary or mockumentary about a fictitious band named
Spinal Tap. The movie is told from the interviewing perspective of director Rob Reiner as he
interviews and follows the British band for their United States concert tour for their new album, Smell
My Glove . Throughout the film and tour, almost everything seems to be going wrong for the band.
From drops in concert attendance, issues releasing their album cover due to controversial imagery,
sudden changes in management, and the general childish behaviour of the band holding them back.
The film pokes fun at the many real life rock stars and bands that existed at the time; including Yes,
Early Genesis, Ritchie Blackmore, The Beatles, Dee Snider, Led Zeppelin etc., and how the media and
society viewed them during this era. It shows how society viewed Rock Stars as larger than life idols,
often overlooking their obvious flaws until it catches up to them; and contrasts it

2. Page# 151 ...We must always honor the wishes of others before our own. We will make the way
smooth by restraining emotion . . . To try to meet one s own needs in spite of the wishes of others is to
be wagamama selfish and inconsiderate . . . It is such a tangle trying to decipher the needs and intents
of others... Significance: The significance of this quote is that Naomi channels the voice of Obasan,
and her other traditional relatives, in this explanation of what it means to be wagamama versus what it
means to be generous and selfless. According to her characterization, it is important to be emotionally
restrained not for the sake of your own dignity, but for the sake of other people s happiness. 3. Page#

this quote describes how Naomi can no longer tolerate her Aunt s constant nitpicking to remember her

The Case Of Edward Bernays
Merriam Webster s dictionary defines ethics as, the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and
with moral duty and obligation (Merriam Webster, 2017). In the field of Public Relations, ethics is a
determining factor in reaching out and building relationships with audiences. Often times, people will
choose whether or not to place their trust in a campaign, business, or company based on how they
portray themselves ethically. However, there have been several instances where people have acted
unethically in the field of Public Relations and still became successful. In the case of Edward Bernays,
acting ethically was not a point of emphasis. In fact, Bernays unethical public relations tactics and use
of propaganda brought him fame and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

During the 1920s, Bernays was hired by the American Tobacco Company to tap into the women s
market and get women to begin smoking cigarettes outside. According to Mostegel (2016), George W.
Hill, president of the American Tobacco Company had asked Bernays, How can we get women to
smoke on the street? They re smoking indoors. But, damn it, if they spend half the time outdoors and
we can get em to smoke outdoors, we ll damn near double our female market. Do something. Act! (p.
41). Although Bernays was already a well known public relations practitioner by this point in his
career, accomplishing that task would not be easy. The 1920s was a period where women would begin
to have as many rights as men, however, they still were not treated equally. In the nineteenth century,
smoking was considered unlady like and masculine. In the early twentieth century, women began to
smoke, but were faced with obstacles. It was still unacceptable for men and women to smoke in the
same place. And in 1922, the District of Columbia proposed a bill to ban the consumption of cigarettes
by women (Leal, Filho, Rocha, 1998, p.47). Essentially, getting women to smoke outside would not be
an easy task.
Bernays saw potential in the women s rights movement as a way to push his agendas. In his novel
Propaganda, he writes, If the suffrage campaign did nothing more, it showed the

Because it is unreasonable to think that every member of the criminal justice system was raised with exposure and understanding of all cultures, it is imperative that the officer (or any form of government) makes an effort to become culturally competent, especially in the cultures that they primarily work with. The direct effect the mixing of so many cultures has on the justice system is that it is constantly being challenged, reformed, and changed. When trying to create a black and white set of laws, it is nearly impossible to encompass multiple cultures, for example many European countries are doing away with capital punishment, which has been in practice for thousands of years, because of the cultural shift deeming it as cruel and unusual punishment and while in America there are still states that utilize capital punishment, it is obviously there is a similar trend here in its decline of supporters. There are many contemporary methods used in societies of mixed cultures. There are many motions set into place to create a fair and level justice system for all of the people who may come into contact with it. There are many different procedures in Forensic Science which are used to gather evidence from crime scenes, all of which vary due to no crime scene being identical. Examining the evidence from a crime scene is essential and a very important factor of Forensic Science. The evidence gathered from a crime scene will provide facts and piece together information regarding the crime committed, this information is then used to form a case and debate what happened at the crime scene. Planning to examine a crime scene When planning to examine a crime scene all aspects should be taken into account before entering. The first thing that should happen is cordoning off the crime scene, this is predominately performed by the police and is done so to ensure the crime scene is not contaminated by public access. With this idea in mind, Juan Rulfo s novel, Pedro Paramo, is purposely constructed in complete defiance of linear time and space. Hence, bringing back the feeling of disbelief and confusion to the reader, further expressing the use of magical realism. The structure of the novel also contributed to the stages of magical realism since Rulfo s choice of a structure less structure caused some to believe that the novel has no timeline. Rulfo creates the uncommon structure through the use of shifts. He constantly switches the narrators from one to another with no transition, which unexpectedly interrupts the story line and adds to the aspect of broken time and the sense of confusion. Rulfo presents this idea when the main narrator, Preciado, ends a paragraph by saying I will. Background of the book of Ezekiel The book of Ezekiel covers the dates between Ezekiel s call in July 593 B.C. through his last vision in April 571 B.C. Before the book of Ezekiel can be properly understood some previous dates must first be discussed. When King Solomon died the nation of Israel split into two kingdoms. The first kingdom was still known as Israel, the Northern Kingdom, whose capital was Samaria. The second kingdom became known by the name of the tribe of Judah, the Southern Kingdom, whose capital was Jerusalem. Israel fell to the nation of Assyria in 722 B.C. In 604 B.C. Josiah became king of Judah. Josiah attempted to have a revival in the nation. Though it worked superficially, it was not a genuine revival for the nation. Nineveh, the capital of Assyria, fell in 612 B.C. Most in the nation of Israel took this as a sign that Josiah s reforms had work. Josiah took the fall of Assyria as ... • 29. Wide Sargasso Sea Analysis In Wide Sargasso Sea, by Jean Rhys, culture causes belonging as well as insecurity. In this novel, characters from the Caribbean and England are put side by side to highlight how strong cultures affect those without one. Christophine and R hold strong ties to their identities through their ethnic background, while Antionette is left wondering, who I am and where is my country and where do I belong (61). Rhys uses the binary opposition of these two contrasting characters to convey that people rely on their cultures for their identity and because of this, those who do not fit into a certain group have trouble defining themselves. Christophine, a former slave and servant to Antionette s family, relies on her Afro Caribbean roots to dictate her beliefs and shape her as a person. When Antionette wants Christophine to help her using obeah, Christophine tells Antionette that obeah is not for béké , using the word béké, a slang term for a white person (68). Through this, Christophine separates herself from Antionette and defines herself through her ethnic background. Although she is very close to Antionette, Christophine clearly identifies with a different culture and therefore there is a distance between them that cannot be removed. This culture is one that she identifies so strongly with that she will risk being caught and thrown in jail for her beliefs. Hypocrisy In Voltaire s Candide Candide, with his innocent optimism, taught the reader that there isn t always a silver lining; Irene Redfield proved that one s judgement and actions don t always go hand in hand; Bob Hicok illustrated that, despite all of one s observations, hope can still be found. These lessons were brought to us, for the most part, through observations which these narrators had seen and experienced. The lessons found in these texts also show the hypocrisy which these characters have, despite their observations and experiences, still permeates their beliefs and morals. To begin, it would be best to know what observation entails: the term observation means the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information or, in fewer words, gaining knowledge through watching the world around us. The use of such vivid imagery and observation has long been a powerful weapon in the arsenal of great writers, like Stephen King and J.K. Rowling, and has brought about multiple lessons and teachings for people throughout the ages. The narrator s observations in Voltaire s Candide, or Optimism , Larson s Passing and Hicok s Go Greyhound allows them to realize their own hypocrisy and disconnect between their actions/experiences and beliefs. Voltaire s use of imagery and satire in Candide, or Optimism allows the reader to contemplate how Candide has such an optimistic attitude in the face of the trials and tribulations which he and his friends endured. ... As she travels through the remnants of a lost world, she begins to formulate her own belief system and calls it Earthseed. In short, Earthseed is described as a combination of Buddhism, existentialism, Sufism in addition to other worldly beliefs (261). All in all, Lauren hopes to create a new, sustainable religious community, and in turn, one day, a better human society. Despite being raised in a rather religious community and family, with a preacher for a father, Lauren finds faults with the God she has been taught to worship. She learns to shape her own ideas and beliefs about religion and God to adapt to the dystopian world she has been brought up in. This brings us to the question of: what is god? The simple answer to this question, according to Lauren is that God is Change . The first chapter entry of the novel explains the fundamentals of Earthseed, she writes: All that you touch you Change. All that you Change Changes you. The only lasting truth is change. God is Change. (3). This seems rather logical, especially in the context of a distorted and dangerous world. It seemed that Rock and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical genre. It is in this environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in.
