The Military Use Of Atomic Bombs And The Justification For...
The military use of atomic bombs and the justification for America doing so is a highly controversial
topic. On August 6th, 1945, America dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, and
changed the world forever. Three days later America dropped another atomic bomb on the Japanese
city of Nagasaki. During that week, hundreds of thousands were affected as the atomic age dawned.
The United States needed to use atomic bombs in order to end the Second World War effectively.
There are several reasons for this, including the fact that the United States wanted to end the war as
quickly as possible in order to save millions of Allied and Axis soldiers from dying during several
more years of war, to save millions of dollars on many more years of war, to justify the cost, to
impress the Soviets, and to bring to an end the aggressive tyranny of Japanese Imperialism. Ending the
war promptly was a high priority for the United States, as it would minimize casualties and reduce the
high cost of traditional warfare. American President Harry S. Truman made a wise and accurate
decision for his time and circumstances. President Truman, who made the decision to use the atomic
bombs, was not looking for a reason to drop the bombs; Truman was looking for a way to end the war
quickly in order to save lives. A swift end to the war would entail dropping the atomic bombs. The
main priority for President Truman was to end the war as quickly as possible with the fewest U.S.

The Effect Of Disinfection Byproducts ( Dbps ) Formation
Chapter Two
Literature Review
2.1 Introduction
This chapter is a review of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) formation, identification of various types
of DBPs, regulations of DBPs by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the degradation of
DBPs in natural surface water, particularly by natural solar sunlight and other engineered
photodegradation processes such as UV light and advanced oxidation processes (AOPs).
2.2 Overview
Water disinfection process was a major public health triumph of the 20th century. Before widespread
disinfection of waste and drinking water in the United States of America (USA) and Europe, millions
of people died from infectious waterborne diseases, such as cholera and typhoid, along with high risk

2.3 Water Disinfection / Disinfectants
Waste/Drinking water disinfection serves two main purposes. The primary purpose of disinfection is
to kill or inactivate pathogens. The secondary purpose is to provide a disinfectant residual in the
finished water and prevent microbial regrowth in water distribution system. Accordingly, in water
treatment practice, the term disinfection is used to refer to two activities: (i) primary disinfection for
inactivation; and (ii) secondary disinfection for residual maintaining.
Five disinfection agents are available in drinking water treatment today (i) free chlorine, (ii) combined
chlorine (chloramine), (iii) ozone, (iv) chlorine dioxide, and (v) UV light. The first four disinfectants
are chemical oxidants whereas UV light involves the use of electromagnetic radiation. Of the five, by
far the most commonly used disinfectants, in both plants and distribution systems, are chlorine and
chloramines. Chlorine dioxide, ozone and UV are also used on a limited basis to meet disinfection
goals. Chlorine or chloramines are the most common disinfectants used to achieve secondary
disinfection.
The effectiveness of disinfection depends on the contact time (the amount of time a disinfectant is in
contact with the water) and the residual disinfectant concentration.

Healthcare Systems And The United Kingdom
Undoubtedly, healthcare services can maintain or improve both physical and mental health of
individuals and it is crucial for all the citizens. Therefore, a majority want to receive free and
approachable healthcare service irrespective of their social background, age or health status by the
government. However, a well organized and effective free healthcare system is complicated to provide
to the public and the government will face enormous challenges and dilemmas when they authorize
the citizens to access essential healthcare without any charge. This essay discusses two different
healthcare systems in the United Kingdom and the United States and analyses the effectiveness and
efficiency of both free public and private healthcare. It will be argued that the healthcare system will
be more effective if the health care is partially provided by the government free of charge and partly
provided by the private companies.
Firstly, the funding of universal healthcare predominantly comes from the taxation, therefore, it will
burden the taxpayers with heavy taxes; while a small proportion of individual cannot afford the private
health insurance in the private market, thus, two healthcare systems should implement together. In the
United Kingdom, National Health Service (NHS) provides a comprehensive range of health services
to all the residents (Aspalter et al, 2012, p.21), however, numerous of British against a rise in income

The Pastor As Minor Poets Summary
M. Craig Barnes The Pastor as Minor Poet explores the life of a pastor and their role in ministerial
life. The book is divided into two sections: The Call of The Minor Poet and The Craft of The Minor
Poet. Using the image of poet, Barnes explores who a pastor is and what the pastor does. In paralleling
a pastor s role and a minor poet, Barnes gives pastors a relatable image and breaks ministerial life into
texts and subtexts. The role of a pastor in the ever changing, materialistic, and right now driven world
is complex and requires focus. Within part one, Barnes begins by looking at who the pastor is, the
many tasks that are a required part of ministry, and identity. Looking also at the major prophet
writings in the Old Testament, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone I ve spoken with in ministry says nearly the same thing, Scripture is your foundation. They
share their experience with how Scripture shaped them, continues to shape them, and helps them to
draw their congregations back to the image of God. This study of Scripture is more than a mere
reading, but an analytical listening and thinking that seeks the voice of God to move and stir the pastor
s heart. Drawing on this strength is the only way that the pastor can truly be pastor. The image of poet
and the themes emerged from these readings reflect the nature of a pastor who truly connects with the
Spirit and the people of the congregation. Through these connections, the pastor is able to create a
type of poetry that is woven together in such a way that draws out the needs of the people while also
imparting the wisdom from God with an ease that can seem intimidating. A poet image lends itself to
an understanding of flowing, coherence and connection similar to how a pastor weaves words and
scripture together to meet the needs of the people while sharing God s

Duty Honor Country Speech Summary
Huerta 1
The Militaries Unspoken Will
The Speech Duty, Honor, Country was delivered by General Douglas MacArthur to the Cadets of the
Military Academy in West Point, New York. General Douglas MacArthur was being awarded with the
Sylvanus Thayer Award to commend the General for all his hard work and devotion to the Military.
The Award is a memorable tribute to the ideals that inspired the late General Sylvanus Thayer, who
was also known as the Father of West Point . In General Douglas MacArthur s Duty, Honor, Country
speech, he used rhetorical appeals, diction, and repetition to convey his thoughts about the Military
and its present leaders along with its future leaders.

at the age of 84. Following his time after graduation, MacArthur was commissioned as a junior officer
in the Army Corps of Engineers and spent the next decade fulfilling a variety of duties. This early
period in his military career was marked by frequent promotions and led to posts in countries around
the world, including the Philippines, Japan, Mexico and, in 1914, France. In 1918 he participated in
the St. Mihiel, Meuse Argonne and Sedan offensives, during which he repeatedly distinguished
himself as a capable military leader. Upon returning from Europe, MacArthur became the
superintendent of West Point, a post he held for the next three years. During this time he was
promoted to brigadier general of the Army. In 1930, MacArthur was promoted to general and selected
as the Army chief of staff. Over the next few years his efforts were primarily devoted to maintaining a
military that, like the rest of the country, was crippled by the Great Depression. He also spoke
frequently of what he considered to be the increasingly serious threat of Communism, both in the
United States and abroad. In 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt chose MacArthur as his military
adviser to the Philippines and sent him there to establish a defensive military force. In July 1941,
MacArthur was recalled to active duty and became commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific. A
Japanese invasion of the Philippines that same year drove MacArthur s forces from the country, but

Neehemia Research Paper
Introduction Since the beginning of creation man has looked to God for answers. God is the one who
loves man no matter what our sin. In the Bible, it states But God demonstrates His own love toward
us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified
by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him (Romans 5:8 9, NKJV). Futhermore, the
Bible tells us of God s love for his creation and states For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John
3:16). God demonstrates his love for man time and time again even though man consistently fails to

The task of rebuilding the wall was a tremendous feat for him. However, he humbled himself and took
his problem to God first, through prayer. Throughout the entire prayer, Nehemiah acknowledged the
power and praise of God, similar to the Lord s Prayer. Nehemiah prayed His word back to Him. He
prays You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe your
commandments reiterates God s covenant with Moses. (Nehemiah 1:5) Furthermore, Nehemiah
prayed not for himself, as a sinner and servant of the Lord, but for all of Israel, including himself and
his father s house. (Nehemiah 1:6) Nehemiah realized that he had to humble himself in the eyes of the
Lord and repent his sins. He takes repentance a step further and tells God that he knows he and the rest
of Israel have not exactly honored Him through their actions, statutes, nor ordinances. (Nehemiah 1:7)
However, the most significant portion of Nehemiah s prayer was when he stated:
Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, If you are unfaithful, I
will scatter you among the nations; but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do
them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from
there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name. (Nehemiah

The Greek God Pan
Greek myths and legends are all about the gods and heroes of the ancient Greek people. They tell us
about how the ancient Greek people looked at the world and how they explained the origins of the
world. There are many different stories on many different gods, heroes, villains but today, one is
gonna learn about the Greek god Pan. Pan has been a symbol of the force of nature for many ages. Pan
has influenced so many supernatural writers. Some of those writers got famous off of the story that
they wrote about Pan. For example the book The great god Pan by Arthur Machen did immensely
well.
Pan was the god of the wild, hunting and he was a companion of the nymphs. Pan was given by the
greeks and his Roman name was Faunus. Pan power s states Like the other gods of olympus, Pan
possessed enormous strength. (Greek gods, https://greekgodsandgoddesses.net) This shows that Pan
was extraordinary strong. He could also run for long periods of time and he could not get injured. He
could transform objects into different forms and was able to teleport himself from Earth to Mount
Olympus and back. He is represented as very clever with a wonderful sense of humor. Pan was often
in the company of the wood nymphs and other deities of the forest.
There are many different assumptions to who people think Pan s parents are. His father may have been
Zeus, Dionysus, Hermes, or Apollo. His mother may have been a nymph called Dryope, Penelope who
later became the wife of Odysseus, or Aphrodite.

Charles Lindbergh Embodiment of the American Dream
The 1920 s are well known for social movements ranging from women s rights and racial equality to
fashion and art. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American Dream.
America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to Paris, France
was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an easy road to get
there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was not available at the
time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start of a new age of
technology and mechanics, an art in its own right.
With technology advancing, aviation began to rise in popularity. Many records were made and broken,
including Amelia Earhart s flight across the Atlantic, the altitude flight record and the highest recorded
speed. But before all that, another record was made. On May 20, 1927, Charles Lindbergh set off from
New York to Paris, France. He would be the first solo flyer to successfully complete the journey.
Rising from obscurity to follow his dreams while doing what he loved, Charles A Lindbergh embodied
the American Dream as much as the 1920 s did.
Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1907 to Charles Augustus
Lindbergh and Evangeline Lodge Land. His family was from Minnesota, where he grew up. As a
child, he frequently visited his father in Washington, D.C., as his father served in the U.S. Congress.

Sex, Marriage, And Sexual Commitments
Sex and love have changed the last few decades immensely; changing how people look at dating,
marriage, and sexual commitments. Definition of dating has changed from generation to generation.
Marriage has also changed and to the point that many people are putting marriage off longer. From
these changes there has been a new culture that has formed. The hookup culture is the lack of
commitment to a single partner, but having flings with one or more people. Dating has not been
around but for nearly a hundred years. Paula England, who started the research of the hookup culture
using a college survey, stated in her paper for The Family in Transition, ...the invention of dating
started in the 1920s and was helped along by the automobile and commercial sports, like movie
theaters, where youth would go. This gave young people more of freedom to enjoy themselves with
other people of the same age. Dating was not a real cause as people had marriages arranged for class
status. In the movie Mona Lisa Smile the character Betty, portrayed by Kirsten Dunst, married her
college boyfriend. They mainly married as it was expected of them from the pressure of their family
for their rise in class status. This is seen throughout history in marriages but has changed over the last
several decades. Betty and Spencer, her husband, who were allowed to date and able to see if they

Meaning Of Word And Meaning
Word and Meaning
Language is one of the fundamentals things in Indian philosophy that every school almost their own
language and philosophy of their language in order to understand their sacred texts correctly. Sphota

Sphota is the whole sentence unites . Sphota is considered as the word or sentence which is single
indivisible meaning bearing units. It means that sentence should not be consider is being made up of
single words and words by letter. In linguistic discourse, they are symbol which is the meaning bearer.
they are the articulated sounds and means by which merely the symbol is revealed. The Brahmanical
tradition takes language as of Divine Origin and they consider language as valid resource of
knowledge. There are two schools which made significant contribution to the philosophy of language
in Indian philosophy which are the Mimamsa and philosophy of Grammar. The both school believe
that the words and their relation to meaning are eternal and underived and impersonal. The beginning
of language is untenable. There is only one real that manifests as many of words. It means that it does
not have an ended point and does not have started point. Humans understand them from their birth till
to their death. However, in this paper, I will argue that the relation of word and meaning is
conventional arbitrary because of factors such as polysemous, homophones and homonyms,

Creating An Effective Working Environment And...
The three learner profile attributes that I believe are most important in creating an effective working
environment and collaborative team are open minded, communicator and inquirer.
They will need to be open minded learners because to properly adapt to new situations, and new
environments with different people they ll have to understand there s more than one way to do things
which ll help them become better leaders. This will benefit the team, because everyone will learn from
each other and their different cultures. They ll learn from the places they ll be visiting and they ll all
get the chance to see the world from different points of view. As they do this they will be trying new
experiences together which will help them become closer and will let them build on previous ideas by
using the knowledge they ve gained from the new experiences. For these reasons, being open minded

Public Servants And The Politics Administration Dichotomy
Partisanship is often a pitfall for many public servants, as it can present itself in a variety of dilemmas
(Inwood, 2012). In many instances, public servants are influenced by the politics administration
dichotomy, a democratic phenomenon in which politics and administration are to remain separate
from one another but work together for the benefit of the taxpaying citizen (Drysdale, 2010).
Partisanship influences the issues inherent to this dichotomy because politicians often make the rules
that public servants are trusted to implement. This dilemma raises the questions the presence of merit,
patronage, and loyalty, writes Inwood (2012), all of which can have an effect on a public servant
maintaining their tenure in a bureaucracy.
Similarly, a public servant may find a conflict in remaining non partisan. Consider if a public servant
was ordered to conceal information that they knew might influence the outcome of an upcoming
election. This servant has duty to follow orders, but also recognizes their responsibility to serve the
public interest. Being trained as nonpartisan but taking no action, writes Inwood (2012), may
effectively tilt the balance of an election towed one party or another , which can potentially raise much
larger ethical questions (p. 347 348).
Public Comment The notion of public comment reflects the idea that public servants should, whenever
possible, remain anonymous and stay out of the public limelight (Drysdale, 2010; Inwood, 2012).

Social Media Child Development
I m sure all have heard the aged African proverb, It takes a village to raise a child. The upbringing of a
youth is a very imperative time. What is learned during the development stages of life is stored in the
brain for future experiences, so that they know which decisions to make. Parents, alone, have wisdom
that can be shared with their children, but different interactions within a community have a huge effect
on the outcome of a child s overall development. In today s society, family bonds are not as strong as
they once were. We, as a nation have moved further and further into technological advancement, and
that is where most of out leisure time is directed towards. The village around a child is whatever
he/she is exposed to on a regular basis; and, being that social media has become more and more
popular around the world, it is believed that it, in itself, is that very village .

Benefits Of Same Sex Education
Is same sex education more beneficial? In 2006, only about four percent of the freshman class of
Chicago s Urban Prep Academy was able to read at grade level. But, in May of 2011, one hundred
percent of the senior class had been accepted to four year colleges/universities, many receiving full
scholarships. (Novotney, 2011) This was the first all male public charter high school in the United
States. The fact that this school was same sex education is the main factor that brought one hundred
percent of these seniors success. In today s society, there is usually no distinction between same sex
education and co education. However, there is a distinction. This distinction is that same sex education
is more beneficial to students. Society today does not realise this, even though there are many factors
that prove it. One main difference is that same sex schools are usually private schools while co
education schools are usually public schools. Parents in society today differentiate the schools by if
they would prefer to pay for the education (private same sex schools) versus not paying (co education
public schools). However, there is a difference. This difference is the fact that same sex education
schools are more beneficial for students. Despite this fact, the costs of private schools still prevent
parents from sending their children to these schools. Another issue that arises is that the decision of
sending your children to either same sex schools and co education schools

Mechanisms Involved Into Wound Healing And Heart Function
Project Summary
Mechanisms involved in wound healing and heart function are essential for the survival of mammalian
species. The treatment of ischaemic heart disease and myocardial tissue regeneration remains poorly
understood. Mesenchymal stem cells possess the ability to differentiate into various tissue types,
including hematopoiesis, cardiogenesis, vasculogenesis, and neuronal development, as well as
endothelial progenitor cells. In addition to its multipotent capability, the mesenchymal stem cell
(MSC) can secrete and supply a large amount of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) (Tang J et
al., 2009). This response can be overexpressed, resulting in tumor formation. The stromal derived
factor 1 alpha (SDF 1α) plays an important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Primary research for this proposal suggests SDF 1α and VEGF play a key role in stem cell recruitment
and myocardial regeneration. Increased expression of of SDF 1α through Ad SDF 1alpha (adenoviral
vector containing human SDF 1alpha gene under the control of the rous sarcoma virus (RSV)
promoter) through injection into myocardial tissue promotes angiogenesis in damaged tissue. It is
suggested that SDF 1 gene expression is regulated by the transcription factor hypoxia inducible factor
1 (HIF 1) in endothelial cells, resulting in selective in vivo expression of SDF 1 in ischemic tissue in
direct proportion to reduced oxygen tension (Ceradini DJ, 2004). VEGF secreted by MSC s is thought
to enhance expression of SDF 1α. Increased expression of SDF 1α in the presence of transplanted
MSC s could potentially promote differentiation of MSC s into myocytes, leading to regeneration of
myocardial tissue leading to improved heart function.
Specific Aims
The aim of this research is to investigate if and how co transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells,
varying in quantity transplanted, in combination with overexpression of VEGF, SDF 1α, enhance
differentiation and recruitment leading to cardiac repair in LAD occluded rats.

In 1912, the size of the court was expanded, and the net was raised a foot higher. It was decided that
there would be six players on each side that would rotate around the court throughout the game. Teams
played to twenty one points, and the winner was the best of three games. In 1922, officials declared
that a team could only hit the ball three times before sending it to the other side. Players in the back
row were not allowed to spike. The rules banned hitting the ball twice in a row. A team must also win
by two points. (Sherrew 21). Another change allowed teams to use an extra player called the libero. A
libero wears a different colored uniform and only plays in the back row. The libero can substitute an
unlimited number of times for any player. Some major changes occurred in the late 1990s. It was

grown rapidly over the past two centuries. The original rules were so much different compared to the

The Labeling Theory
Deviance is defined as any action, belief, or human characteristic that a large number of people who
are members of a society or a social group consider a violation of group norms and for which the
violator is likely to be censured or punished (Ritzer). Thus, whether certain acts are considered deviant
or not depends on society s social context. Deviance is not based on the actions of individuals, rather
based on the social context in which it occurs. The norms themselves, or society s definition of that act
that decide which acts are deviant or not, are continually defined and redefined through ongoing social
processes such as political and cultural. Through the intervention of moral entrepreneurs, certain

After reading the statement by the non partisan group the Sentencing Project Does Race Change the
Way We Discuss Drug Crimes? the Labeling Theory can help us understand this report. It is stated in
the reading that, It is hard not to conclude from these divergent trajectories that race and class
significantly shape drug policy priorities. Indeed, researchers have shown that when white Americans
associate crime with people of color, they are more supportive of punitive criminal justice policies...
Enforcement continues to disproportionately target people of color: almost two thirds of drug
prisoners are black or Latino (The Sentencing Project). It is not acceptable that society has
continuously labeled specifically African American and Latino individuals associated with drug
crimes, where white individuals are guilty as well. African Americans and Latinos are labeled in a
negative manner. This label effects their own perceptions of themselves, therefore directing their
behavior into deviance. Deviance is not an act in itself but instead it is the people who obtain labels on
others tendency or behavior. It is society that makes false accusations against such criminals.
According to the conflict perspective, deviance is socially created and the structure in society defines
what is considered normal and what is not. Hence, there is no such thing as human nature, deviance is
the creation of the social structure rather than something built into our nature. In conclusion, social
norms refer to the behavioral standards in which human beings are supposed to

being passed. The law is called Caylee s Law , this law enforces reporting children missing in a timely
manner. Failure to report children missing in the time set by your state can result in a misdemeanor or
a felony and other severe charges. Each state set their own age and time required to report a child
missing but it does show that this Casey Anthony case raised awareness and made this a symbolic
crime. Many other stories were very similar to the Casey Anthony case that were made into laws. For
example Amber Alert and Code Adam. The time reporting requirements can be found on many
websites including the FBI website. Many were worried that this law can cause many issues like
parents panicking when they think their child is missing and making an unnecessary reports which
could override reports of children that were actually missing but despite the concerns many states still
moved forward with the law. According to Parents Magazine family kidnapping is committed

College Tuition Should Be Free Essay
College Tuition Should Be Free For All Students
College tuition should be free because even with a good degree it is hard for students to overcome the
crippling debt of college tuition. High tuition prices are also an obstacle that keeps out those without
access to affordable education, even though they may be great candidates who may do well in college
and head their field in the future. The current system displays several flaws. The government should
put the money slotted for financial aid into the state s education budget so that tuition can be free and
to create a better and more fruitful learning environment.
College debt in the U.S. has risen to just around 1.2 trillion dollars and rises about $2,726 every
second (Berman). These numbers are astronomical, and to put them in perspective, the to tal debt of
the United States of America is just under 20 trillion. When starting to see numbers to this degree, it s
time to take action by not letting this debt grow any larger and trying to start lowering it. People are
beginning to understand that our current system may not be viable in the future. More than two thirds
of Americans support tuition free college because they want an ed ucation themselves or for their
children, but don t want to be beset with crippling debt throughout the rest of their lives (White).
College should be free for students because the U.S. government has many ways to make reasonable
changes that would lead to a surplus of money that they then

Analysis on Steven Crane´s Poem Do not Weep My Lady
Do Not Weep, Maiden, for War is Kind
In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies. This
famous quote was once said by one of the greatest prime minister in the history of Britain Winston
Churchill. Prime Minister Churchill famous quote, during World War II, depicts the same meaning in
the poem Do Not Weep, Maiden, for War is Kind by Stephen Crane. In the poem Do Not Weep,
Maiden, for War is Kind , Stephen Crane writes the truths and lies about war which many people had
heard one or the other in different situations which he phrases in his poem. This poem puts a spotlight
on the soldier s love ones and the soldier at the same time which depicts the truths and lies when they
are told during war. Furthermore, I felt many raw emotions while reading the very heartfelt poem Do
Not Weep, Maiden, for War is Kind. Stephen Crane wrote the poem so beautifully that any reader can
be hooked on it from the very first line and their eyes will still be glued onto the very last line in the
poem. The poem Do Not Weep, Maiden, for War is Kind is simply amazing poem for many reasons
including how Crane put attention on a complicated matter in society back then and which can be used
for today s society also, but also because of Stephen Crane word choices he used throughout the poem
to emphasize the poem s deeper meaning, the imagery that used most of the human senses that helps
the reader to truly capture the poem, and its deep symbolic

Environmental Challenges Facing The American Auto Industry...
Environmental Challenges facing the American Auto Industry
The American Auto Industry has evolved for many decades with pioneers such as Ford Motor
Company. The United States Auto Industry was once upon a time a global leader in the automotive
industry but due to knowledge and skills acquisition by other automobile manufacturers such as
Toyota, the once American Auto Industry leadership has been surpassed. I will give discuss this
following paragraphs.
Global Competition in the Industry
So far the Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan has surpassed all the American Auto Industry such as
Chrysler, Ford and General Motors. Toyota has also topped the world most admired Vehicles Industry
according to Fortune Magazine. There are various factors that have made the American Auto Industry
to face stiff competition. The following are some factors:
Innovation:
Toyota s was the first company to introduce a full hybrid system of vehicles and is the most popular
hybrid system in the world. On the other hand, American Auto Industry was late at adopting this
hybrid technology. They were using high gas consuming technology which was environmentally
unsustainable.
Design Technology
Toyota Motor Corporation pursues design that resonates with customer sensitivities worldwide. It has
therefore incorporated designers globally with diverse cultural backgrounds from bases in Japan,
North America and Europe. This gives Toyota a truly global competitive edge over its American Auto

The World s Fair An Attempt By The United States Government
Introduction
In 1904, millions of people visited the Philippine Exhibit at the St. Louis World s Fair, observing the
displays of native Filipinos and leaving with an impression of savagery. However, this impression was
hardly incidental. To what extent was the 1904 World s Fair an attempt by the United States
government to justify its imperialist involvement in the Philippines? This fair was carefully
engineered by the United States government to impart an uncivilized impression of Filipinos onto
American fairgoers, thereby justifying the need for US involvement. This commission was a
committee ordained by the US government to govern the newly acquired Philippine islands. This
portion of the fair would likely not be present if the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By depicting the Filipinos as savages, the Commission hoped to prove that the Filipinos were no
longer resisting American control and that the US government would benevolently assimilate and
civilize the Filipinos. Additionally, the Commission also hoped to attract American capital and
enterprise by displaying the products of its fertile lands and the abundant undeveloped mineral and
timber resources. This essay will investigate the imperialist motivation behind and methods used in
depicting the Filipinos as savages in need of civilization. It will also analyze the fair as a means to
promote American investment the Philippines natural resources.
The Spanish American War
The motives behind the conception of the 1904 exhibition are rooted in the United States diplomacy
around and during the Spanish American War in 1898. In the preceding decade, the United States
continually attempted to exert its influence over Spanish controlled Cuba. Although Spain had
political control over Cuba, the United States had long been interested in annexing Cuba. This interest
was initially sparked by commerce. By 1820, trade between the U.S. and Cuba had become so
prevalent that many American politicians expected Cuba to become a part of the Union or an
appendage to it. However, the rise of Cuban nationalism became an obstacle, as in 1898, Cuban
revolutionaries began a three year revolt against the Spanish colonial government. This threatened the
United States economic ties with Cuba. In

Types Of Reorganization Of A Company Essay
Reorganization is the process of extending the life of a company that is facing liquidation by
restructuring it in order to carry out activities which minimizes reoccurrence of past situations. Type A
reorganization involves consolidation and merging and it gives greater flexibility since there is no
restrictions of voting stock. Nontaxable status is not affected by removal of unnecessary assets.
Additionally, this type of reorganization saves on time as approval from shareholders, which often
brings complexity can be avoided. In a type B, assets and contracts which cannot be transferred are
not lost, there is no substantially all requisite and liabilities of target s corporation are isolated in a
subsidiary.
In a type C reorganization, the acquiring corporation can be selective while choosing the liabilities it
assumes. A tax responsibility may arise if consideration other than stock is used in the possession of
the resources. Type D reorganization enables the selling corporation to be exempted from paying tax
immediately because assets transfer is followed by absolute liquidation of the acquired corporation. I
would recommend type D as the most beneficial to the client because the shareholders quits operations
once the corporation is bought by the acquiring company Furthermore, transfer of titles contracts and
leases may not be necessary.
In reference to the ABC Corporation, the client should use type C reorganization because it will enable
him/ her to become the sole

The Influence Of Playing Soccer
When I was 7 years old I started playing soccer. I played soccer for 3 years before finishing up and

During the time I played soccer there were many factors affecting my participation of the sport.
Soccer being a very popular sport played all over the world, where countries from England to Portugal

high and easy. Early participation of the sport was influenced by school and was easiest to get
involved in and learn if you like and enjoy the sport or not. My friends from school where a big
influence of me playing the sport as I would play the sport with them and then we continued playing
the sport after the first season. My best friend at the time, Blake was a big influence on me moving
from playing for the school to joining the Napier City Rovers soccer club that he played for. Another
influence that affect my participation of joining club soccer was that the sports grounds (Park Island)

The main objective of the paper is to examine Azjen s theory of planned behavior based on past

subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. In a prospective British study conducted by
Higgins and Conner in 2001, they researched the ability of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to

Suspense is created in The Destructors by means of the time frame in which the gang has to do their

The television show South Park is a very controversial show which has been attacked by the media,

show so controversial? The reason it is attacked so thoroughly is because of its crude humor and

We see it today as it inspires philosophers, and writers. For example, Morte d Arthur, who was a
knight was cruelly killed and dies. When his body is shown to King Arthur he tells Arthur, he had been
attacked by King Pellinore at the well, and then begged that he should be buried, and that one of
Arthur s knights should avenge his death. (Malory, p.99) Another example would be Sir Gawain in the
Green Knight has to do with the arrival of the Green Knight at King Arthur s feast. He challenges
King Arthur to his game, but Sir Gawain ends up accepting the challenge instead of the king. Then the
Green knights head is cut off. As he picks up the knights head he tells Sir Gawain that he must meet
back with him in one year. This way he can return the challenge. One year passes, and he comes
across a castle on his path. With grace he is let inside the castle, and is aloud to stay for a few days.
The lord of the castle makes up a game. The Lord has to go hunting and Sir Gawain has to stay in the
the castle. They both at the end of the night have to exchange their winnings. The lord of the castle is
the Green Knight. Basically the reason for the game was to test the chivalry values of Sir Gawain
throughout the story and the game he made up. This was very clever of

Who Is The Protagonist In The Night Of The Hunter
The Night of the Hunter
Anna N. Beach
Paper #1
March 7, 2011
The Night of The Hunter is a thriller written by Davis Grubb in 1953. It is imaginably chilling and
disturbing. The book is based upon a true story of a frightening man who was hung for murdering two
women and three children. One of the main characters portrayed as the murderer, plays the role of
Harry Powell, who was just released from prison, but describes himself as a man of God, and a
preacher of the word. His psychotic inclinations lead him to a journey of a desperate pursuit of money,
left behind by his prison mate Ben Harper. The story leads to an anticipating tale, of a dream like
fantasy. Written to be an adult novel the two main characters, John and ... Show more content on

John nearly shut down and shut out all who were against him. He focused on what was important,
which was his and Pearl s survival. Pearl on the other hand, being only 4 years old lived as though
nothing was wrong. She was very naive, and didn t understand what was happening; she lived in her
own imaginary world. Although, John and Pearl play extremely important roles in the novel, there are
other characters that bring together the story and are important to the overall theme. Harry Powell, the
preacher, is disturbing. He was a mass murderer who killed women for money. His psychotic mind led
him to believe that God was telling him to commit the crimes. He was conniving and immoral. He
tricked people into believing that he was a righteous man, who obeyed by the laws of the bible.
Willa, John and Pearls mother, was gullible and influenced easily. She was very trusting of Harry
Powell s word, and refused to believe anyone else but him. She wanted nothing but to impress him.
She felt that he would be a great father figure to the children. Her trust in Harry Powell leads her to
her death. Another character in the story, Rachel, a tough, resolute individual, believed in defending
herself and others she cared about especially those such as John, and Pearl. Deep down at heart, even
though she seemed calloused, she was a gentle, considerate woman, with great concern for her
children that

Media s Influence On The Political World
The media plays a considerable role in the political world. The media gives people access to be able to
determine which political party they want to be a part of, develop outlooks on government parties and
decisions, and manage their own personal interests. The newspaper, TV, radio, social media, and other
online media, are one of the leading factors, if not thee leading factor in political communication and
fund raising. The media s influence on the political world has shattered the mold in terms of the way
politics are shown. Mass media has such a powerful structure that enables politicians to reach a large
scale audience (Croteau Hoynes 2014). The purpose of this essay is to look at how politicians use the
media in order to influence their audience as they try to validate their credibility with the public.
The influence of the media is more prominent during political campaigns because news coverage of a
single event could turn out to be the most significant factor in putting a candidate ahead. In fact, most
national political figures, plan public appearances and statements to increase their influence
throughout the media. Often times, candidates and their consultants consume much of their time
developing strategies and plans to get the most impact on their television audience. Advertising,
management of news coverage, and campaign debates are often the types of coverage that political
candidates use. The appearance of candidates in presidential debates is as important

William Henry Fox Talbot s Demographic Research
To our right is William Henry Fox Talbot s photograph and one the first famous calotypes, titled
Talbot s photographic printing establishment at Reading, shot ca. 1845/ 1846. The Calotype, or
Talbotype process, was first invented by Talbot in September of 1840 and declared official five
months later. Research explains that the calotype s flexibility allowed photographers to manipulate the
image before a pint was produced and its visual softness neutralizes singular detail in favor of the
universal. In addition, its matte surface image, with a limited tonal range, makes contrast and mass,
and not sharp line, the major visual impulse. (Hirsch 41) During the time period this photograph was
created, many events and tragedies took place. For instance, one of the five major battles taken place
on American soil, the Mexican American war (an armed conflict between the United Stated and the
currently known Second Federal Republic of Mexico) took place. In addition, the term ... Show more

During this time period, not only was the arguably most famous battle of the American Civil War in
action, this was also near the year of President Lincoln s assassination, which Gardner also covered
with his photography, The Lincoln Conspiracy Album. Many other photographers were also inspired
by such tragedy in a time period such as John Reekie, Timothy H. O Sullivan, and George N. Barnard.
Alexander Gardner, a self taught master of the wet plate process, constructed this photograph for
artistic effect. To set the scene he first moved the body of the Confederate soldier approximately forty
yards, into the Devil s Den and added a musket, instead of a rifle. Next, he turned the corpse s face
towards the camera, thus forcing every viewer to gaze directly into the eyes of a tragic, violent, and

Video Relay Service Executive Summary
This article focuses on the stressors that interpreters often face when interpreting in a Video Relay
Service setting. Because of the stress that these interpreters face, this leads to burnout, which is
equivalent to emotional exhaustion. There are many different reasons for the increase of stress in
Video Relay Service interpreting. This article surveyed 424 interpreters who worked, or are currently
working for a Video Relay Service. The survey consisted of three sections, which included rating the
severity of stress level from twenty possible stress factors, three questions about the interpreter s
experience working at a Video Relay Service, and demographic questions. The article begins with a
brief description of what Video Relay Services are, as well as what Video Remote Interpreting is. The
article also gives a definition of the term burnout, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I knew what the Video Relay Service was, but I never realized that interpreters in this setting could
experience such high levels of stress that could eventually lead to a burnout. In the past, I knew that
interpreters working in settings such as legal or mental health experienced levels of stress, but I never
took into consideration the stress that interpreters working in Video Relay Service settings face. Since
Video Relay Services are relatively new, most people do not realize the complexity of this setting.
Interpreters must interpret everything, and some information could be extremely uncomfortable or
personal. The information in the calls could have a negative impact on the interpreter, and be
extremely emotional or go against the interpreter s beliefs. Interpreters also may have to interpret a
911 call, which I never even thought of before. A 911 call is stressful in itself, and the interpreter has
to make sure he or she delivers an accurate interpretation because if they do not, it could be life or
death for the individual needing to make the 911

Analysis Of Ark Restaurant Corp, And Bj s Restaurant
I prepare this analysis for Ark Restaurant Corp, and BJ S Restaurant. Ark Restaurant and BJ s
Restaurants,Inc. are rivals in the eatery business. Beside the undeniable likenesses characteristic to the
foodservice business (giving great food services, and a welcoming environment to their different
clients), these two organizations are altogether different when seen through a monetary point of view.
To assess these two organizations, I have arranged a financial statements and figured also key ratios
that will be utilized to show and also further explain these crucial contrasts. As to their separate 2014
salary articulations, ARK Restaurants had the higher gross net revenue (24.6% contrasted with the
17.8% reported by BJ S restaurant.) and also book estimation of equity of shareholders value. Ark
Restaurants higher gross edge mirrors the more noteworthy proficiency with which it can transform its
investors cash into cash for the firm. This productivity is likewise demonstrated in ARk Restaurants
higher larger operating incomes margin (11.4% contrasted with the 8.7% by BJ S Restaurant.). The
larger operaing income additionally implies that ARK has similarly lower fixed cost, in this way
giving its management has more adaptability in deciding costs of their products. The flexibility that
ARK has in pricing gives an included measure of security for the Restaurant amid tough financial
times for Ark Restaurants. The operation cost also went ahead to demonstrate

William Pennsylvania Research Paper
Many historians think about how Pennsylvania had a big impact on the United States that we call
home today.Pennsylvania was one of the first thirteen colonies which also means it was one of the first
states to come up with laws. The reason Pennsylvania had such a big effect on the United States
history is that our ancestors made fairly good decisions but they also made bad decisions. When
William Penn founded Pennsylvania in 1681 on what was known as the Quaker religion. When people
look at the history Pennsylvania they see the good things our ancestors chose to do when it came to
setting up the thirteen colonies, but what most people overlook is the bad things they chose to do like

Allstar Brands Allround product is a 4 hour multi symptom, over the counter, liquid medicine used to
treat colds, coughs, and allergies. Allround is typically used at night because of the strength of the
medication and because the alcohol and antihistamine helps consumers rest. When LSD J took over as
Brand Managers, our strategy was two fold; grow the top and grow the bottom of the company. Our
goal was to make the company strong and stable to ensure Allstar remains one of the top brands of
medicine for years to come. Our strategy to grow the bottom was to focus on keeping our gross profit
margin stable by minimizing operating cost, manufacturing cost and fixed cost. Our strategy to grow
the top was to increase sales and net income. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

effectiveness and who were not as concerned with side effects and price.
We raised the price of Allround by 4%, slightly above inflation, to a price of $5.50 and left the volume
discounts the same. Allstar decided not to hire additional sales people but to reallocate their current
resources from the marketing data available. LSD J took the advise from our predecessors on channel
choices, Retailers considered four basic factors regarding shelf space allocation: product turnover
(number of units sold in a given period of time), promotional allowances, sales force support, and co

were more apt to focus on turnover and allowances, whereas independent drugstores paid greater
attention to sales force support. (The PharmaSim Case, p 15) In addition, mass merchandiser sales

rather than in short bursts, as in pulsed laser. Externally modulated subsystem consists of Pseudo
Random Bit Sequence (PRBS) generator, NRZ Pulse generator, two Mach Zehnder modulators a sine
carrier for CSRZ modulation. WDM multiplexer multiplexes 8 number of WDM signal channels. The

III. RESULTS DISCUSSIONS
We have one 8 channel DWDM system operating at 10 Gbps with channel spacing of 100 GHz and
the transmission distance of 86 Km. We have made a comparative analysis of the system by using RZ,
NRZ and CSRZ modulation schemes and at various power levels. As the signal passes through the
fiber the nonlinear effects such as XPM, FWM, SPM, SRS and SBS contribute to nonlinear changes
like increase in channel power for some channels while decreasing power for the other channels.

  • 2. The Military Use Of Atomic Bombs And The Justification For... The military use of atomic bombs and the justification for America doing so is a highly controversial topic. On August 6th, 1945, America dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, and changed the world forever. Three days later America dropped another atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. During that week, hundreds of thousands were affected as the atomic age dawned. The United States needed to use atomic bombs in order to end the Second World War effectively. There are several reasons for this, including the fact that the United States wanted to end the war as quickly as possible in order to save millions of Allied and Axis soldiers from dying during several more years of war, to save millions of dollars on many more years of war, to justify the cost, to impress the Soviets, and to bring to an end the aggressive tyranny of Japanese Imperialism. Ending the war promptly was a high priority for the United States, as it would minimize casualties and reduce the high cost of traditional warfare. American President Harry S. Truman made a wise and accurate decision for his time and circumstances. President Truman, who made the decision to use the atomic bombs, was not looking for a reason to drop the bombs; Truman was looking for a way to end the war quickly in order to save lives. A swift end to the war would entail dropping the atomic bombs. The main priority for President Truman was to end the war as quickly as possible with the fewest U.S. casualties ... • 3. The Effect Of Disinfection Byproducts ( Dbps ) Formation Chapter Two Literature Review 2.1 Introduction This chapter is a review of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) formation, identification of various types of DBPs, regulations of DBPs by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the degradation of DBPs in natural surface water, particularly by natural solar sunlight and other engineered photodegradation processes such as UV light and advanced oxidation processes (AOPs). 2.2 Overview Water disinfection process was a major public health triumph of the 20th century. Before widespread disinfection of waste and drinking water in the United States of America (USA) and Europe, millions of people died from infectious waterborne diseases, such as cholera and typhoid, along with high risk on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2.3 Water Disinfection / Disinfectants Waste/Drinking water disinfection serves two main purposes. The primary purpose of disinfection is to kill or inactivate pathogens. The secondary purpose is to provide a disinfectant residual in the finished water and prevent microbial regrowth in water distribution system. Accordingly, in water treatment practice, the term disinfection is used to refer to two activities: (i) primary disinfection for inactivation; and (ii) secondary disinfection for residual maintaining. Five disinfection agents are available in drinking water treatment today (i) free chlorine, (ii) combined chlorine (chloramine), (iii) ozone, (iv) chlorine dioxide, and (v) UV light. The first four disinfectants are chemical oxidants whereas UV light involves the use of electromagnetic radiation. Of the five, by far the most commonly used disinfectants, in both plants and distribution systems, are chlorine and chloramines. Chlorine dioxide, ozone and UV are also used on a limited basis to meet disinfection goals. Chlorine or chloramines are the most common disinfectants used to achieve secondary disinfection. The effectiveness of disinfection depends on the contact time (the amount of time a disinfectant is in contact with the water) and the residual disinfectant concentration. The ... • 4. Healthcare Systems And The United Kingdom Undoubtedly, healthcare services can maintain or improve both physical and mental health of individuals and it is crucial for all the citizens. Therefore, a majority want to receive free and approachable healthcare service irrespective of their social background, age or health status by the government. However, a well organized and effective free healthcare system is complicated to provide to the public and the government will face enormous challenges and dilemmas when they authorize the citizens to access essential healthcare without any charge. This essay discusses two different healthcare systems in the United Kingdom and the United States and analyses the effectiveness and efficiency of both free public and private healthcare. It will be argued that the healthcare system will be more effective if the health care is partially provided by the government free of charge and partly provided by the private companies. Firstly, the funding of universal healthcare predominantly comes from the taxation, therefore, it will burden the taxpayers with heavy taxes; while a small proportion of individual cannot afford the private health insurance in the private market, thus, two healthcare systems should implement together. In the United Kingdom, National Health Service (NHS) provides a comprehensive range of health services to all the residents (Aspalter et al, 2012, p.21), however, numerous of British against a rise in income tax to pay more towards the NHS since the systems are ... • 5. The Pastor As Minor Poets Summary M. Craig Barnes The Pastor as Minor Poet explores the life of a pastor and their role in ministerial life. The book is divided into two sections: The Call of The Minor Poet and The Craft of The Minor Poet. Using the image of poet, Barnes explores who a pastor is and what the pastor does. In paralleling a pastor s role and a minor poet, Barnes gives pastors a relatable image and breaks ministerial life into texts and subtexts. The role of a pastor in the ever changing, materialistic, and right now driven world is complex and requires focus. Within part one, Barnes begins by looking at who the pastor is, the many tasks that are a required part of ministry, and identity. Looking also at the major prophet writings in the Old Testament, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone I ve spoken with in ministry says nearly the same thing, Scripture is your foundation. They share their experience with how Scripture shaped them, continues to shape them, and helps them to draw their congregations back to the image of God. This study of Scripture is more than a mere reading, but an analytical listening and thinking that seeks the voice of God to move and stir the pastor s heart. Drawing on this strength is the only way that the pastor can truly be pastor. The image of poet and the themes emerged from these readings reflect the nature of a pastor who truly connects with the Spirit and the people of the congregation. Through these connections, the pastor is able to create a type of poetry that is woven together in such a way that draws out the needs of the people while also imparting the wisdom from God with an ease that can seem intimidating. A poet image lends itself to an understanding of flowing, coherence and connection similar to how a pastor weaves words and scripture together to meet the needs of the people while sharing God s ... The Award is a memorable tribute to the ideals that inspired the late General Sylvanus Thayer, who was also known as the Father of West Point . In 1918 he participated in the St. Mihiel, Meuse Argonne and Sedan offensives, during which he repeatedly distinguished himself as a capable military leader. Upon returning from Europe, MacArthur became the superintendent of West Point, a post he held for the next three years. During this time he was promoted to brigadier general of the Army. In 1930, MacArthur was promoted to general and selected as the Army chief of staff. Over the next few years his efforts were primarily devoted to maintaining a military that, like the rest of the country, was crippled by the Great Depression. He also spoke frequently of what he considered to be the increasingly serious threat of Communism, both in the United States and abroad. In 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt chose MacArthur as his military adviser to the Philippines and sent him there to establish a defensive military force. In July 1941, MacArthur was recalled to active duty and became commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific. • 7. Neehemia Research Paper Introduction Since the beginning of creation man has looked to God for answers. God is the one who loves man no matter what our sin. In the Bible, it states But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him (Romans 5:8 9, NKJV). Futhermore, the Bible tells us of God s love for his creation and states For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). God demonstrates his love for man time and time again even though man consistently fails to honor God in his life. There are countless examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He prays You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe your commandments reiterates God s covenant with Moses. (Nehemiah 1:5) Furthermore, Nehemiah prayed not for himself, as a sinner and servant of the Lord, but for all of Israel, including himself and his father s house. (Nehemiah 1:6) Nehemiah realized that he had to humble himself in the eyes of the Lord and repent his sins. He takes repentance a step further and tells God that he knows he and the rest of Israel have not exactly honored Him through their actions, statutes, nor ordinances. (Nehemiah 1:7) However, the most significant portion of Nehemiah s prayer was when he stated: Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name. • 9. Charles Lindbergh Embodiment of the American Dream The 1920 s are well known for social movements ranging from women s rights and racial equality to fashion and art. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American Dream. America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to Paris, France was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an easy road to get there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was not available at the time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start of a new age of technology and mechanics, an art in its own right. With technology advancing, aviation began to rise in popularity. Many records were made and broken, including Amelia Earhart s flight across the Atlantic, the altitude flight record and the highest recorded speed. But before all that, another record was made. On May 20, 1927, Charles Lindbergh set off from New York to Paris, France. He would be the first solo flyer to successfully complete the journey. Rising from obscurity to follow his dreams while doing what he loved, Charles A Lindbergh embodied the American Dream as much as the 1920 s did. Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1907 to Charles Augustus Lindbergh and Evangeline Lodge Land. His family was from Minnesota, where he grew up. Definition of dating has changed from generation to generation. Marriage has also changed and to the point that many people are putting marriage off longer. From these changes there has been a new culture that has formed. The hookup culture is the lack of commitment to a single partner, but having flings with one or more people. Dating has not been around but for nearly a hundred years. Paula England, who started the research of the hookup culture using a college survey, stated in her paper for The Family in Transition, ...the invention of dating started in the 1920s and was helped along by the automobile and commercial sports, like movie theaters, where youth would go. This gave young people more of freedom to enjoy themselves with other people of the same age. Dating was not a real cause as people had marriages arranged for class status. In the movie Mona Lisa Smile the character Betty, portrayed by Kirsten Dunst, married her college boyfriend. They mainly married as it was expected of them from the pressure of their family for their rise in class status. There is only one real that manifests as many of words. It means that it does not have an ended point and does not have started point. Humans understand them from their birth till to their death. • 13. Public Servants And The Politics Administration Dichotomy Partisanship is often a pitfall for many public servants, as it can present itself in a variety of dilemmas (Inwood, 2012). In many instances, public servants are influenced by the politics administration dichotomy, a democratic phenomenon in which politics and administration are to remain separate from one another but work together for the benefit of the taxpaying citizen (Drysdale, 2010). Partisanship influences the issues inherent to this dichotomy because politicians often make the rules that public servants are trusted to implement. This dilemma raises the questions the presence of merit, patronage, and loyalty, writes Inwood (2012), all of which can have an effect on a public servant maintaining their tenure in a bureaucracy. Similarly, a public servant may find a conflict in remaining non partisan. Consider if a public servant was ordered to conceal information that they knew might influence the outcome of an upcoming election. This servant has duty to follow orders, but also recognizes their responsibility to serve the public interest. Being trained as nonpartisan but taking no action, writes Inwood (2012), may effectively tilt the balance of an election towed one party or another , which can potentially raise much larger ethical questions (p. 347 348). Public Comment The notion of public comment reflects the idea that public servants should, whenever possible, remain anonymous and stay out of the public limelight (Drysdale, 2010; Inwood, 2012). • 14. Social Media Child Development I m sure all have heard the aged African proverb, It takes a village to raise a child. The upbringing of a youth is a very imperative time. What is learned during the development stages of life is stored in the brain for future experiences, so that they know which decisions to make. Parents, alone, have wisdom that can be shared with their children, but different interactions within a community have a huge effect on the outcome of a child s overall development. In today s society, family bonds are not as strong as they once were. We, as a nation have moved further and further into technological advancement, and that is where most of out leisure time is directed towards. The village around a child is whatever he/she is exposed to on a regular basis; and, being that social media has become more and more popular around the world, it is believed that it, in itself, is that very village . (Novotney, 2011) This was the first all male public charter high school in the United States. The fact that this school was same sex education is the main factor that brought one hundred percent of these seniors success. In today s society, there is usually no distinction between same sex education and co education. However, there is a distinction. This distinction is that same sex education is more beneficial to students. Society today does not realise this, even though there are many factors that prove it. One main difference is that same sex schools are usually private schools while co education schools are usually public schools. Parents in society today differentiate the schools by if they would prefer to pay for the education (private same sex schools) versus not paying (co education public schools). However, there is a difference. This difference is the fact that same sex education schools are more beneficial for students. Despite this fact, the costs of private schools still prevent parents from sending their children to these schools. • 16. Mechanisms Involved Into Wound Healing And Heart Function Project Summary Mechanisms involved in wound healing and heart function are essential for the survival of mammalian species. The treatment of ischaemic heart disease and myocardial tissue regeneration remains poorly understood. Mesenchymal stem cells possess the ability to differentiate into various tissue types, including hematopoiesis, cardiogenesis, vasculogenesis, and neuronal development, as well as endothelial progenitor cells. In addition to its multipotent capability, the mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) can secrete and supply a large amount of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) (Tang J et al., 2009). This response can be overexpressed, resulting in tumor formation. The stromal derived factor 1 alpha (SDF 1α) plays an important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Primary research for this proposal suggests SDF 1α and VEGF play a key role in stem cell recruitment and myocardial regeneration. Increased expression of of SDF 1α through Ad SDF 1alpha (adenoviral vector containing human SDF 1alpha gene under the control of the rous sarcoma virus (RSV) promoter) through injection into myocardial tissue promotes angiogenesis in damaged tissue. It is suggested that SDF 1 gene expression is regulated by the transcription factor hypoxia inducible factor 1 (HIF 1) in endothelial cells, resulting in selective in vivo expression of SDF 1 in ischemic tissue in direct proportion to reduced oxygen tension (Ceradini DJ, 2004). VEGF secreted by MSC s is thought to enhance expression of SDF 1α. Increased expression of SDF 1α in the presence of transplanted MSC s could potentially promote differentiation of MSC s into myocytes, leading to regeneration of myocardial tissue leading to improved heart function. Specific Aims The aim of this research is to investigate if and how co transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells, varying in quantity transplanted, in combination with overexpression of VEGF, SDF 1α, enhance differentiation and recruitment leading to cardiac repair in LAD occluded rats. It is stated in the reading that, It is hard not to conclude from these divergent trajectories that race and class significantly shape drug policy priorities. Indeed, researchers have shown that when white Americans associate crime with people of color, they are more supportive of punitive criminal justice policies... Enforcement continues to disproportionately target people of color: almost two thirds of drug prisoners are black or Latino (The Sentencing Project). It is not acceptable that society has continuously labeled specifically African American and Latino individuals associated with drug crimes, where white individuals are guilty as well. African Americans and Latinos are labeled in a negative manner. This label effects their own perceptions of themselves, therefore directing their behavior into deviance. Deviance is not an act in itself but instead it is the people who obtain labels on others tendency or behavior. It is society that makes false accusations against such criminals. According to the conflict perspective, deviance is socially created and the structure in society defines what is considered normal and what is not. High tuition prices are also an obstacle that keeps out those without access to affordable education, even though they may be great candidates who may do well in college and head their field in the future. The current system displays several flaws. The government should put the money slotted for financial aid into the state s education budget so that tuition can be free and to create a better and more fruitful learning environment. The third is to describe and substantiate the tripartite composition of MA used in the research i.e. MA techniques, skills and roles. Change in Management Accounting Technical innovation has been a marked feature of MA over the past two decades. New methods such as activity based costing, quality costing, life cycle costing, target and kaizen costing, throughput accounting, the balanced scorecard and beyond budgeting have been prominent developments extending the management accountant s tool kit. Empirical research confirms that the new techniques are being used by organizations to varying degrees. Although in most instances adoption has taken place in a minority of companies favouring those of a larger size, the evidence shows that these techniques are now used in at least three continents. Consequently, these developments have resulted in significant levels of real world MA change. Empirical evidence of management accounting change takes the form of both case studies (e.g. Clark, 1985, Innes and Mitchell, 1990, Shields and Young, 1991, Darlington et al., 1992, Kaplan and Norton, 1992, Dutton and Ferguson, 1996, Burns et al., 1999, Anderson and Young, 2001) and surveys undertaken in several different countries [e.g. Bright et al., 1992 (UK), Green and Amenkhienan, 1992 62 WHAT FACTORS DRIVE CHANGE IN MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING IN MALAYSIAN ORGANISATIONS? In both stories, there is an intense struggle to satisfy the frustration over being impoverished. Suspense is created in The Destructors by means of the time frame in which the gang has to do their work. The gang expected Old Misery to return home on a certain day and at a certain hour. Suspense is quickened when Old Misery returned home early and some gang members were still inside. The suspense heightened yet again as a gang member tried to stall Old Misery outside the house. Eventually, Old Misery was lured into his Lav , where he was locked for the duration of the home s destruction. Suspense built in The Rocking Horse Winner as Paul rocked furiously for the name of the Derby s winner. Suspense heightened as the winning name came to Paul, because he had recently had a dry spell and there was doubt concerning his luck. It is interesting that both stories revolve around luck being a prerequisite for wealth. Old Misery s fine home in The Destructors represents luck and wealth. The Redeeming Qualities of South Park Essay The television show South Park is a very controversial show which has been attacked by the media, politicians, parents, the school system, and just about every other social group imaginable. Why is the show so controversial? The reason it is attacked so thoroughly is because of its crude humor and vulgar displays by its characters, as well as the fact that it attacks the thoughts and beliefs of every religion in the world. This vulgarity and intolerance is most notable in the character Cartman, who is extremely offensive in his thoughts, ideas, and actions. The show does, however, provide a balance to Cartman s antics through his co stars Stan and Kyle. Stan, and Kyle almost always stand up to Cartman and ridicule his intolerance, ... Censorship has been around as long as written words have been available to the general public, and whether or not that suppression of ideas is a good idea or not does not change the fact that it is the parent s job to decide what their children will be allowed to read, watch, or play with. Those who criticize the show based on these offenses are either being intolerant themselves, or not paying close attention to the deeper meaning of the show. The show centers around Cartman as the antagonist, who regularly provides insulting views, and Stan and Kyle, whom provide opposing views in order to balance out Cartman s stances. An example of this occurs in the episode Something This Way Wall Mart Comes. Wal Mart s overtaking of towns, and the social injustice that occurs with its arrival, is portrayed as a local small business that they boys shop at is closed because of the loss of business that occurs when Wal Mart comes to their town. After reflecting on their friend s plight Stan says See, that sucks dude and Cartman replies What, that s called progress Kyle (Parker and Stone, 2004). The Bubonic Plague The Black Death and the World After It The Bubonic Plague, often acknowledged as the worst epidemic in the history of Europe, also known as the Black Death, the Black Plague, and the Pestilence, the worst time was 1348 1350. By the end of 1350, according to Zarlengo, almost three fourths of the population had been decimated. Today the Pestilence has an antibiotic cure and since rats and fleas are kept at a low and are not shipped from one place to another, we have less of a chance of getting it again. Since there were fewer peasants to work, they could demand higher wages, they could even move up classes. The serf system was collapsing from all the deaths. Nobody could stop serfs from up and leaving. As independence spread, so did law breaking. People would enter the dead s homes and steal or stay in the house.
