The Character Of Ignatius J. Reilly In A Confederacy Of...
In A Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Tool, Ignatius J. Reilly is trying to prove that he is
smarter than society in New Orleans during the 1960 s. He is forced to find work to pay off the debt
that his mother fell into after crashing her car into a building. Ignatius has no shame in telling people
how he feels about them or their beliefs. His encounters while he is trying to find work bring out his
true colors: lazy, complaining, and paranoid. Throughout the book, Ignatius shows that he has no
desire to put the good education that he has received into effect in the real world. While they are at the
Night of Joy, Mrs. Reilly says, I spent all his poor Grammaw Reilly s insurance money to keep him in
college for eight years, and since then all he s done is lay around the house watching television (Toole
22). When Mrs. Reilly walks into Ignatius s room and asks him why he has trash all over the floor, he
says, That is my world view that you see. It still must be incorporated into a whole, so be careful
where you step (46). All that he means when he says this is he is too lazy to pick it up. While Mrs.
Reilly is on the phone with Santa, she says, With all his education, mind you. Selling weenies out on
the street in the broad daylight (172). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While they are at the Night of Joy, Darlene asks Mrs. Reilly if she a good cook. Ignatius answers,
Mother doesn t cook, she burns (21). Ignatius is complaining and publicly embarrassing his mother
even though his mother tries her hardest to feed him every night. While Ignatius is writing in his
Journal about his life as a weenie salesman, he pens, That wagon is a terrible liability. I feel as if I am
stuck with a retarded child who deserves constant attention (232). Ignatius is now complaining about
something as simple as pushing a metal cart. Pushing a cart is something that any able bodied person

Bilingualism Importance
Quynh Nhi Tran P. 4 The Importance of Bilingualism In my life, I must speak many different
languages: English at home, with my friends, in public, as well as Vietnamese with family. When
speaking to my parents, I show respect and sometimes humor. I often even combine English with
Vietnamese. With my siblings and friends, I use sarcastic and understanding tones. In public, I
carefully choose my words in order not to offend anyone. With extended family, I quietly speak in the
polite Vietnamese that my culture demands. Because I speak a variety of languages, my ability to
communicate with others heightens. To me, bilingualism means communicating in public or private
languages and embracing its culture. The dictionary definition does not encompass the importance or
connotation of bilingualism. Martín Espada and Richard Rodriguez, esteemed authors, write essays
about the role of bilingualism in their lives. Espada s essay, The New Bathroom Policy At English
High School , describes the superiority English holds over other languages, and Rodriguez s essay,
Hunger of Memory , details the sacrifices of learning English. Both authors speak Spanish and
English, have received a myriad of awards for their writing, and have experienced the difficulties
maintaining two languages. Each author depicts their definitions of bilingualism. Espada portrays it as
the right to speak multiple languages, including keeping and developing a passion for it: Defending
the right to use the tongue of

Improving Procurement And Sourcing Efficiency
Pursuit for competitive advantage is vital for the survival of any business organization s supply chain.
Businesses are feeling the difficulty to improve procurement and sourcing efficiency. The value that
can be achieved through successful procurement practices is often a lot harder to achieve than many
companies actually realize. If a company expects to grow and survive, it constantly needs to add
value. Procurement is one area that has become a critical area of focus to create a more competitive
and efficient supply chain. In the past, procurement was seen as insignificant to other areas of an
organization. However, implementing cross functional teams to continually review suppliers ensures
that an organization benefits from the best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fortune 500 companies like IBM, Dell, and Delta Air Lines are spending higher than 50% of their
revenues on procurement. For a long time, procurement has been looked at as negotiating to get better
prices. Many organizations still view procurement as a way to influence spending to get discounts and
lower costs from their suppliers. However, sustainability and the supply chain risks that companies
face today call for procurement to be different now. Organizations can see real savings by looking at
total cost of ownership, which can include a lot of the end to end supply chain costs. Disruptions are
unavoidable and every decision involved in the procurement process has a risk factor to it. In order for
procurement to influence and affect a company it must present a business case that it is a value added
function. An organization can add value long term with its ability of purchasing within procurement.
Organizations need to stop short term thinking because of the high risk levels associated with this.
Procurement decisions can add a lot of value to a company, but organizations need to think of the long
term implications of their decisions. Purchasing is important to competitive advantage because it
increases value and savings for a firm. Purchasing can build relationships, drive innovation, improve
quality, and reduce products time to market. Suppliers have a huge impact on organizations total costs
because most product features come from

Why Roller Derby Should Be An Olympic Sport
In 2024, or as soon as 2020, roller derby should be an Olympic sport. I find that roller derby is just as
entertaining and interesting as the sports currently in the Olympics such as canoe sprint, cycling, golf,
rowing, sailing, and table tennis. Those examples are from the Summer Olympics. The Winter
Olympic sports include curling, luge and skeleton.
Roller derby is a rapidly growing sport. At this moment, there are 469 female roller derby teams in the
world. To make a team you need at least 12 people. Taking these numbers into consideration, if you
multiply 469 by 12, you would have a minimum of 5,628 people playing roller derby around the
world. This figure does not even include men s roller derby leagues or junior leagues. Junior derby is
generally split into age groups of 5 12 years old and 12 17 years old. ... Show more content on

Derby is a sport that has many things happening at once. On the track, players must trust their team,
communicate with their teammates and strategize while in play. Every team has a different name for
the strategies they use. Roller derby is a game that s really fast, therefore you have to think fast, as
well as act fast, there is no time to just stand there and be confused. Fans of major professional sports

Muscular Strength
We are going to elaborate these concepts, and compare and contrast Speed Cardiovascular Endurance.
Also, how they apply to the sports: Cross Country Soccer; and, how both factors are dependent on
each other.
The same process applies to Power Muscular Strength, and the sports: Boxing Tennis.
Our connections of speed to sports begins with Cross Country. In this sport, you need to able to
control your speed throughout the whole race; specifically due to the long distance. However,
depending on the terrain, your minds needs to fluctuate your speed. For example, you would jog a
faster pace on flat terrain rather than a steep hill; the same thing goes for curves, you would slow
down as well. Also, at the start and end of the race course, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When serving, power is needed to create great velocity for the ball; greater kinetic energy in the ball
results in the opponent less likely to strike the ball in defense. Usually, tennis athletes strike the ball
downwards by jumping a little; by doing this, the athlete would exert more strength in the strike. As
for the speed factor in power, the racquet needs to strike the ball quickly to overcome gravity which
pulls the ball towards the ground. However, if the power in the serve is mediocre, then the ball would
not travel far before it hits the court ground; also, less power means the ball may not surge past the
net. If the ball does the court, then your opponent would have higher chance of hitting it. During the
strikes in both offense and defense, power is required in order to win the rally. By exerting more
power into a strike, the opponent would be vulnerable to missing or hitting the ball with limited
strength. Usually, tennis players would strike the ball towards their opponent s weak arm/ non
dominant arm with great force. By doing so, the opponent would not exert as much power in the less
dominant side, and you basically control the attack in the

How To Be A Mn Conference Case Study
HOW TO BECOME A GOOD DELEGATE
It is difficult to be a competitor in a MUN conference. It can be overwhelming, especially for
beginners and a lot of uncontrollable events can happen. However, preparing yourself by getting the
hang of necessary tasks such as making motions, speeches, and forming blocs, alliances... can help
you feel more confident when attending MUN. And to assist you through the initial difficulties, here
are some things that you need to consider:
Understanding the Rules of Procedure (RoP):
Memorizing the RoP is the most basic preparation you need to make when engaging yourself in MUN.
Having a deep understanding of the RoP allows delegates to act within a conference without any
awkward occurrences. Furthermore, it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, strategizing also exists both before and during the conference. Both research and
planning allows delegates to understand carefully the situation and strategize accordingly.
Without these two factors, delegates would either find themselves unknowing of what to do due to the
lack of research, or would take an unfavorable course of action from the lack of careful planning.
While doing research, be it before the conference or observing during the conference, pay attention to:
Your country s own attributes (weaknesses/strengths)
Opponent country s attributes
Ally s attributes
How the situation affects each country
How the country s attributes can be used favorably
For planning and strategizing, consider the following:
What benefits would you gain if you align with/attack another country?
What sacrifices would you have to make to align with/attack another country?
Speeches
MUN is about collaborating and resolving issues together. As such, the speeches that you would make
is not about taking down other delegates ideas, but is instead on convincing others to vote for and
support you. In other words, MUN speeches are meant to be diplomatic, not argumentative.
To make a good speech, delegates should:
Be clear
Be brief
Maintain diplomacy avoid personal attacks
The Caucus
In a MUN conference, the most significant time period other than for speeches and debates is the
caucus. This is because the caucus is used for negotiating and forming

Our plan of care must be based on patient teaching and instruction to help resolve the persistent
gastrointestinal conditions. This patient s treatment is going to be divided in: non pharmacological
measures (lifestyle changes) and pharmacological measures.
Diet: The patient should stop eating food and beverage that can increase the acid production and
irritation in the stomach such as: fast food, spicy food, seasoning food, too hot too cold foods and
beverage containing caffeine, cocoa, chocolate, mint and citric. This patient can benefit from a balance
fiber rich: whole grains, fruits (no citric), vegetables and fat free or low fat dairy foods, low sodium,
cereals, pasta, and brown rice. The patient should select lean meats like chicken, turkey, and some
types of fish, beans, eggs, and nuts. The rich diet in fruits and vegetables; apples, cranberries, onion,
garlic, celery, and tea have shown to prevent the development of Helicobacter Pylori. In addition,
spicy foods, coffee, alcohol, and sodas can aggravate the symptoms. We need to be very careful in this
patient diet because he is suffering from hypertension, PUD (peptic ulcer disease) and gout. We should
provide the patient a list of these dietary instructions and if possible educative handouts and ask the
patient to repeat the instructions provided (Hinkle Cheever, 2014). The patient can also benefits form

The Issue Of Availability And Quality Of The Information...
4. Discuss the issue of availability and quality of the information that you base scenarios on.
In order for any scenario to be successful, the type of information used must be current, relevant and
reliable. If this is not the case then your scenario will not be effective at all, leading to a disastrous
event which might even proceed to an organisation losing a lot of money eventually closing down. So
carefully analysis of the type of information received and from which source is this information
received from must be considered.
When developing a scenario, a deep insightful research must be done in order to gather as much data
as possible; from this data serious analysis is done to scan the data and only taking that which is useful
(which now becomes useful information) in creating a scenario. The information needed here is
mostly about that relating to the future, so hence such information will be hard to find or come up
with. This is where the help of experts and external advisors comes to play, in order to verify the
information you have and also add into your information.
Companies usually have management information systems which they use to get the information need,
and in these management information systems there are feathers of scenarios built in, to make the
retrieval of information to be used in a scenario easier. Another way of getting the right type of
information for running scenarios would be through other applications such as spread sheets.

The guinea hen also known as the guinea fowl is a type of wild bird. Guinea hen is a species of
gallinaceous birds of the family numididae, which is original to Africa. The fowls develop their names
from Guinea, part of the West Coast of Africa. The related to other game birds such as the pheasants,
turkeys and partridges; they have a long history of domestication. According to Alfred J.
Smuskiewicz, guinea fowl are plum roundish in bodies and have a range in length from sixteen to
twenty eight inches. They can weight up to between 1.5 to 3.5 pounds. Guinea fowl have an life span
of ten to fifthteen years.

Some of the steps you want to start with are, preheating the oven to 400 degrees and making sure you
have all the ingredients ready. Step 1, place the guinea hen in an iron skill large enough for it to fit.
The ingredients you will need are, 4 teaspoons olive oil, ¾ teaspoons sea salt, ½ teaspoon ground
black pepper, 2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves, 3 cloves garlic with skin left on and lightly crushed,
and 1 cup chicken broth. Using your hands, rub 2 teaspoons of the olive all over the bird, inside and
out. Season again all over with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with thyme leaves and scatter the garlic
cloves around the pan. Step 2, place in the oven and roast fifthteen minutes. Dizzle with the remaining
olive oil and roast, basting every ten minutes with a pan dripping, until a thermometer inserted in the
thickest part of the thigh reads 160 degrees; this should take about 40 to 50 minutes. Step 3, remove
the hen from the oven and transfer to a cutting borad. Drain excess fat (leaving some) from the pan
and place over medium high heat. Pour in the chicken broth. Using a wooden spoon, scrape up the pan
drippings and bring to a boil. Reduce until the sauce is syrupy. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cut the
hen into 6 pieces and pour the juices from the cutting board back into the sauce. Serve on a platter and
pass the sauce with a big spoon.
I feel that the guinea fowl is a very special type of wild bird. The guinea fowl are a better choice when
choosing food to eat. Since they have somewhat more protein and there eggs are richer. The guinea
fowl can be a great investment for farms. It will eat any insects and protect the production and
sustainability of the crops that the farmers

Ukulele Research Paper
The Ukulele
The ukulele is a member of the lute family of instruments; meaning that the strings run in a plane
parallel to the sound table. Most people believe that the ukulele originated in Hawaii however, they
actually had their first start in Portugal in 139 B. C in the Lusitania tribe. By the thirteenth century,
four string instruments were being used in Spain, when six string instruments were introduced in the
1700s the popularity of chordophones exploded. (A chordophone is a musical instrument that makes

Manuel Nunes also suggested a different tuning pattern to make chord formation easier. The body of
the ukulele is usually made from wood. The type of wood has a significant impact on the sound, tone,
and quality. Mahogany is thought to be the finest wood for making ukuleles. It also has excellent
aging properties, sounding better as it gets older. Typically, the same type of wood is used for the
entire instrument. The ukulele is a small instrument that looks like a miniature version of a guitar. It
consists of a short neck, the main body, four strings and tuning keys, a bridge, a fretboard, and a sound
hole. There are a variety of different types of ukuleles including the soprano, concert, tenor, and
baritone. The soprano is the smallest (20 inches) and the baritone is the largest (30 inches). The strings
are tuned to the notes G C E A on all ukuleles except the Baritone. Tuning for the Baritone is D G B E
because it has a deeper sound like that of a guitar. Fun fact about the ukulele: Neil Armstrong loved to
play the ukulele in his downtime. After his trip to the moon, he feared that he had contracted a strange

The Internet And Its Effect On Our Lives
Summary and Analysis
My first image shows that in today s generation the internet is becoming a huge factor in their day to
day lives. The internet allows this generation to communicate with each other through text messages,
or social media like Facebook, and twitter. The internet provides us with all of the answers to our day
to day questions; it also provides us with endless amounts of entertainment such as games, music, and
movies, etc. The internet also makes living our day to day lives easier by providing us with the ability
to run our businesses online and change stocks. However, excessive activity and addictive activity are
two very different things. Healthy excessive activities add to life, whereas addictions take away from
it. Problematic internet use also known as internet addiction disorder is and individuals inability to
control their urges, or behaviors regarding internet use that lead to distress or impairment. As time
went on and the amount of internet use increased, (IAD) has attracted the attention of many
researchers. Some worry that the Internet, with its visual stimulation and constant distractions, is
altering the way we think and not for the better. Some studies indicate that it may alter physical
mechanics of the brain that lead to long term memory formation, (Clark) And China and South Korea
have declared Internet addiction a primary public health concern. Nicholas Carr and Betsy Sparrow

Biblical Worldview Model
A Biblical world worldview is how a Bible believing Christian ought to see the world. The basic
components that make up a biblical world view are well to start the Bible is God breathed and
therefore has ultimate authority and is fully true. The Bible gives believers some clear cut commands
that should be used in developing ones worldview. But the Bible also gives believers to form many of
their own opinions that they can make using their personal worldview with the Bible engrained in it.
For example, the Bible clearly states that Jesus lived a sinless life. Therefore, he is the standard that
Christians should strive to imitate (with a lot of God s grace). The Bible also clearly says that there is

Similarities Between Rap And Country Music
Music is a huge influence on many people. Rap and country music are two very popular genres of
music. There are many common stereotypes that people associate with them. Both types of music are
often disliked by people for various reasons. Rap music is often seen as gang related and full of
violence. People think it is a negative influence. Country music is often seen as redneck or hillbilly
music. Many people don t like country music because they say it is not their type. Country is seen as
much more positive. Rap and country music are two totally different styles of music and have many
differences. They have a very different audience, singers, styles of music, and music videos they use
for their songs. One big difference between rap and country music is the audience. Usually when a rap
concert begins, the audience arrives minutes before it starts. There is no party before or get together.
Rap music appeals to a younger audience. Rap is popular among many teenagers and young adults.
There usually aren t many older people that listen to rap music or would attend a rap concert. Rap
usually attracts an audience made up of many races. The audience consists of whites, African
Americans, Hispanics, and many other races. It is not targeted to one race over the others. Country

Every year people are jolly to celebrate their own traditions. Whether it is Christmas or Hanukkah,

The Role Of Religion And The Rise Of Capitalism
The weber thesis is the argument that turned Marx on his head: Instead of capitalism causing religion,
religion actually caused capitalism as stated in Collins (pg. 47). Weber goes on to stating as the
Catholic Church was broke down during the 1517 by Martin Luther, he abolished the monasteries, the
priests could get married but also the Bible could get translated from Latin to German so the people
could read it for themselves. This meant that the priests were just like ordinary people and people
could find their own way to embed their beliefs of God within their own lives. Weber then established
religion was having a major effect in producing modern capitalism. Max Weber and Karl Marx are
established as the two well known theorists of the 19th Century. Many argue that there are various
comparisons between these sociologist s theories, however although Marx and Weber both examined
similar ideas, they noticeably came to two drastically different conclusions. This essay will go on to
critically analyse what the role of religion was in the rise of capitalism and discuss how Weber s work
was criticised by numerous sociologists e.g. Marxism and Durkheim.
Weber s theory very quickly became recognised by many, this was because it had shown an
association between religious ideas and economic development. He was not arguing that capitalism in
general was caused by Protestantism. He was just drawing the connection between Calvinism and a
particular kind of capitalism. Both the

Classroom Space Impact On Students And The Overall...
There have been a number of studies done to show how the amount of space that is available in a
classroom can have an effect on the behavior of the students and the overall environment of the
classroom. In 2003, Duncanson found that classroom space impacts how teachers and students
behave. He found that classrooms with small amounts of space were prone to have inefficient
pathways and look cluttered. In part, it was found that this situation was caused by the large amount of
room teachers reserved for their own use and the large amount of space covered by other pieces of
furniture. The arrangement of the furniture hampered the natural flow patterns and created small open
spaces for students to work. Thus teachers more or less identified and assigned the spaces that were to
be used by students while working on an activity (Duncanson, 2003). The ideal classroom is one
where there are minimal distractions to learning, focused attention on classroom discussions and
positive learning about critical subject material. With this in mind, it is important to understand what
causes misbehavior and what can be done to limit it. Misbehavior must be taken in context however,
since one must look at the situation and instructor to determine if a particular action falls in the
misbehavior category. For example, walking around during a math lesson would be unacceptable, but
walking around in a pottery class would be expected (Burden, 1995). In one study by Tiirkniiklii

Themes In The Lottery
What does one picture when the word lottery is said? A random selection and a person wins the big
prize? Wrong, in the short story The Lottery all townspeople gather for a special kind of lottery. Not
just any lottery though, one that is quite unique like no other. The townspeople and their families pick
up white slips of folded white paper out of a black wooden box. Later to then open them and to find
only one has a dark charcoal circle who later gets stoned to death annually. In this short story, it
uncovers so many different themes for us to analyze. For example, Do not follow people blindly
which means if one friend jumps off a bridge would the second person jump too just because the first
person did it? Following someone or something

How Is Wordsworth Influenced By William Wordsworth
Wordsworth is an high English poet and an establishing member of the Romantic Movement in the
English literature. He lived and wrote at the period between 1770 1850 which is the golden era of
romanticism . Like other Romantics, Wordsworth poetry and personality also were greatly influenced
by his love for the nature, especially by the spectacles and views of the Lake Country area, where he
spent most of his life in nature. Wordsworth is sincere thinker; he showed high tenderness and a love
of nature and simplicity. Two persons affected him personally and literary, his sister Dorothy and the
great romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. William Wordsworth s poem I wondered lonely as a

It says that even when you are by yourself and lonely and missing your friends, you can use your
imagination to fine new friends in the world around you. As John Milton famously wrote, The mind is
its own place, and in itself, can make heaven of Hell, and a hell of Heaven. The speaker of this poem
makes a heaven out of a windy day and a bunch of daffodils. His happiness does not last forever he s
not that unrealistic but the daffodils give him a little boost of joy whenever he needs it, like recharging
his batteries. In conclusion, William Wordsworth is one of the best romantic poets; actually he
established the romanticism in the English literature. Now, we can say that the poem I Wandered
Lonely as a Cloud is the pest representation of romantic poetry. It contains most of the characteristics
of good romantic poetry. Such characteristics as subjectivity, the love of nature, love of beauty, and
joyful memories of the past. In addition, Wordsworth was influenced by his Sister Dorothy who
inspired him to write many of his poems. We can always find a source for William s

The Pollution Of The San Joaquin Valley
The Water In The Valley. If the water is contaminated by the airborne pollutants, whether by
depositing through direct water surface contact or by depositing on land and being carried to water
bodies through run off, the residents will face problems. Once in the water, these pollutants can cause
the fish to poison people upon consumption, or the fish could die out. Harmful algal blooms could
occur; the water will become contaminated and unsafe to drink. This might seem like an exaggeration
but in the San Joaquin Valley, the threat is very real. One might say that the people of the San Joaquin
Valley may depend on water more than people elsewhere. The residents need water more because
many of them depend on having enough water for their jobs, not just for their consumption. Being one
of the top agricultural industries, the San Joaquin Valley residents need to have plenty of water for
their industry of choice, whether is be for watering their crops or keeping the cows food (grass) alive,
to ensure that they will be able to bring in profit to the valley and be able to feed themselves and their
families. One of the reasons why the San Joaquin Valley is highly susceptible to water contamination
is because of agriculture pesticides such as the nitrogen based fertilizer called nitrate. Nitrates, once
they ve entered the body, are converted to nitrites (Basic Info. About Nitrate in Drinking Water). If a

The Autobiography Of Malcolm X Essay

THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MALCOLM X
Introduction Malcolm X?s autobiography written in collaboration with Alex Haley is an exciting story
of personality transformation. During several years, Malcolm X told Haley his biography in several
extensive interviews. Haley described and orchestrated the stories and Malcolm X edited and endorsed
every part of the book. The story is narrated in the first person and it seems like Malcolm was writing
this of his own. But it is important to understand that the autobiography is not written by Malcolm.
Alex Haley recorded his words. The readers only have the visibility that this is a whole consistent
narrative. From the point of view of determining the personality and development of
Malcolm, the Autobiography is as captivating as it is exciting. It tempts the reader into combining the
Autobiography with the real life and personality of Malcolm X in some forms. As it above mentioned
the book has intrinsic rhetorical energy because it is first person narrator. This energy is considerably
heightened by the colorful writing style which persuades the reader of the genuineness of the writer.
This is like a secret agreement between reader and writer in which both accept that the story is
completed and has cohesion. With his usual sincerity, Malcolm X describes his life as a strong willed
personality growth, rising from the mud and darkness to a new life

Gender and Movie Selection Essay example
Gender and Movie Selection
Introduction:
A very diverse, broad, and extensive industry is the filmmaking industry. However, the unique aspect
of the industry is that it is so expansive in all of the different categories and types of movies, but yet
each film is individualized. A certain characteristic of a movie may appeal to one person and not
another. Such characteristics may not only appeal to an individual but to a certain group of people.
Could it be that characteristics of a film appeal to either the male gender or the female gender? Is there
a difference in the category of movie that a male chooses as opposed to one that a female chooses?
Such questions prove to be very interesting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the observation, I observed ten males and ten females in the video section of Giant Eagle at
7:00pm on a Friday night. All of the twenty subjects were of college age and appeared to be at the
store alone. I specially looked for the type of movie each person would select. By doing this
observation, I anticipated to see what people really choose. Since the subjects were unaware that I was
watching them, they had no pressure to select a certain type of movie and could chose freely. In other
ways of collecting data such as a survey or interview, people may be reluctant to be honest about some
details. Through observation, there were no doubts if the subject was being dishonest because they
freely chose the movie without even realizing I was watching them.
A second route that I chose to collect data was to administer a survey to ten college age people. Of
these ten people, five of them were females and five of them were males. The survey was given to
these people while they were in their college dorm rooms. There were six questions on the survey,
including a gender question, how many movies does the subject watch in an average month, and what
are these movies classified as, adventure or romance/romantic comedy. The final two questions dealt
with who the subject mostly watches movies with and if they normally get to choose the movie when

The city of Jerusalem is a very diverse city with many major religions having been part of the history
of Jerusalem. Judaism was one of the first monotheistic religions that centred on Jerusalem as it
became a major city for many Jewish people after they divided in to two tribes. Christianity is another
religion that has a centre in Jerusalem as it was mentioned in many Bible stories and is where many
miracles happened. Finally, Islam is one of the last monotheistic religions that are centred on
Jerusalem because it was where many of its major prophets came from. The city of Jerusalem can be

The city of Jerusalem can be considered a major centre to Christianity because it is the location of
Jesus s travels and it is also where he was killed, resurrected and ascended into heaven. It is also to
location of where many of Jesus s miracles were performed. This is shown through the quote During
Passover in the third year of his public life, Jesus entered Jerusalem and was welcomed by the crowds
who rushed to meet him with palm branches. However, religious authorities were planning his arrest.
(DesRivieres 225)This quote shows us that Jesus was a very important figure for Christianity as he
was greeted by many people. It also proves that the location of Jesus s death and resurrection would be
in the area around Jerusalem as it was where he was arrested for blasphemy. All this means that
Jerusalem is a major centre for Christianity as many major events surrounding the life of Jesus
occurred. Another way Jerusalem is a major city for Christianity is because it is where the religion
itself came from and how it spread from that with The Pentecost. The Pentecost was a major event that
caused the followers of Jesus to gain the ability to speak different languages in order to spread
Christianity to different countries. (Zavada) An article also says Pentecost, a Jewish feast, was
celebrated 50 days after Passover, and pilgrims had come to Jerusalem from all over the world to
celebrate the event. The 12 apostles were gathered together in a house when a terrific wind came from
heaven and filled the place. They saw tongues that looked like fire that separated and came down on
each of them. (Zavada) This quote shows us that the early Christian Church started in Jerusalem and
spread throughout the world from there. This means that Jerusalem is an important religious centre in
Christianity because it originated from there. These reasons are why Jerusalem is also a major
religious centre to

Tom Robinson Character Analysis
In To Kill A Mockingbird the main conflict is the Tom Robinson case. Tom Robinson was accused of
beating and raping Mayella Violet Ewell. The people of Maycomb see Tom in two different ways.
There is the public view of Tom and the private view of him. The public view would include the
people of Maycomb who do not know Tom at a personal level, while the private view would be his
family, Calpurnia, and the other African Americans in the town of Maycomb. The public see Tom as a
dangerous man. For instance in the book it states I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin on my Mayella
(Lee 231)! Mayella even said that He got me round the neck, cussin me a sayin dirt I fought and
hollered, but he had me round the neck. He hit me agin a agin (Lee 241). Both Mayella and Bob Ewell
make the people in the court believe that Tom is some sort of killer or dangerous man who should be
lynched. Even Scout thought that Tom Robinson s powerful shoulders rippled under his thin shirt (Lee
248). Tom was very built, and that did not help his case. Before Tom even gave his testimony most
people in the court and jury believed he was guilty. Furthermore, The public view of Tom Robinson
also includes that he is an abusive man that takes advantage of woman. Such as when Mayella said I
got somethin to say a I ain t say no more. That nigger yonder took advantage of me (Lee 251). After
she said this, Tom became known as a person who would hurt women in an appalling way. Another
example is when Atticus says Miss Mayella, not to be tedious, you ve testified that the defendant hit
you, grabbed you around the neck, choked you, and took advantage of you (Lee 248). Mayella states
all of these facts in her testimony; making Tom look like a untrustworthy man. One part of her story
states that she went in the house to get him the nickel and turned around an fore she knew it he was on
her . (Lee 241) . Mayella makes the chance of Tom being innocent lower with her lies; Tom becomes a
monster to the public view. On the other hand to some he is as innocent as a mockingbird. These
people know the real Tom Robinson. They belive that Tom is a generous and a hardworking man. A

Loss and Reflection in The Wife s Lament
Loss and Reflection in The Wife s Lament
Isolation from society can evoke a deep loneliness and self reflection. The poem The Wife s Lament
from the Exeter Book expresses the desolation of exile. The dominant theme is the contrast of a happy
past and a bleak present of isolation. The anonymous author of The Wife s Lament uses setting, tone,
and conflict to develop the theme of great loss. He/she augments a situation in which meditation on
life s past joys is the only redemption in a life sentenced to confinement. The Wife s Lament is an
excellent example of nostalgia, resentment of the present, and hopelessness about the future.
While there has been much ambiguity surrounding the exact setting in the elegy, the author uses
imagery of the speaker s environment to further emphasize the dismal realities of exile. The harsh land
in which the wife is required to live mirrors the passionate longing and loneliness that she displays.
This earth hall is old, and I ache with longing; the dales are dark, the hills too high, harsh hedges
overhung with briars, a home without joy (Exeter Book 29 32).
Meyer II
The author emphasizes the drastic contrast in the speaker s emotional state through the setting she
finds herself in. She is taken from the comfort of her home and thrust both an environment and mind
state of isolation. However, the setting also helps fuel the hatred that develops in the wife s mind for
her husband. The speaker is ambivalent of her feelings for her

The Influence Of Culture In Dante s Inferno
Scottish philosopher Thomas Carlyle (1795 1881) once said, Culture is the process by which a person
becomes all that they were created capable of being (BrainyQuote 2017). Over the length of one s
journey, they may discover more of their cultural capability. Understanding culture can help people
understand themselves. In Dante Alighieri s epic Inferno, Dante uncovers knowledge of his personal
beliefs, morals, and values. The culture of oneself is important in the development of their own
character. Dante is a sinner who after death will descend into Hell to work off his punishment. While
traveling he meets the great poet Virgil and he becomes Dante s guide into those fiery pits of Lucifer.
Virgil takes Dante to the gates of Hell where the fearful Dante must put all his trust into his master to
keep him safe: His hand on mine: so, trusting to my guide, / I followed him among things disclosed
(Alighieri 3.17 18). Dante takes Virgil s hand as he leads him toward the unknown depths of
Hell.Virgil expects Dante to trust him in which he does. Dante talks of things disclosed which refers to
the unknowingness of what lies before him. He is fearful of the unknown but must trust Virgil to keep
him away from danger. Once Dante and Virgil reach Hell they must cross the river to Minos where all

Being A Waste Of Your Time
No relationship is ever a waste of your time. If it didn t bring what you want, it taught you what you
don t want. There are certain people out there who contribute and mold our personality to construct
who we are. We tend to form relationships with those people, and to fit in we tend to want to be like

What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish , is set in the eyes of Sergei Goralick. Based on the story,

In general, the word miseducation means to educate improperly. There are likely several ways I have
been miseducated, some of which I may not even be aware of yet. I have long understood that
education can happen outside a classroom. In fact many valuable life lessons were learned just going
about day to day activities. Some of the best learnings have come from raising a child, experiencing

about miseducation I instantly go to my experiences within the education system. It is ironic to think
that the education system may have educated me improperly. I have two university experiences, one

Graphic and Violent video games: Companies should strictly rate and monitor their games
By: Talisa Anderson
Graphic and violent video game companies should strictly rate their video games that are being sold.
When teenagers ages 13 18 play these violent video games that include killing, blood and terrorism,
they have less physical activity. The more teenagers that play graphic and violent video games have
more chances to be affected by the violence and mature content. Every time these games are played,
the gamers will react more aggressively and violently toward students at school, siblings and parents.
When violent and graphic video games are strictly rated and monitored the positive outcomes are less
mature content, more physical activity and prevents teens from video game related violence.
Strictly rated and monitored graphic and violent video games will prevent the risk of mature content

Abstract
This essay is a critical analysis of the behaviors that Company Q has demonstrated with regard to

Scenario 1 Resolution I recognize that a possible rebuttal to any of the aforementioned questions is, If
the residents are not shopping there and putting money into the store, why would we be expected to

Company Q offer the food choices these residents want? Is the layout of your stores conducive to

Has the cruise industry evolved over the past years?
The cruise industry has definitely evolved over the years to meet the changing demands and
expectations of its passengers. The most important changes in the industry over the years are the
introduction of shore excursions, new cruise routes and changes in the ships themselves. The first
cruise ships offered few to no excursions while all the modern cruise lines offer over 100 excursions
per cruise. These excursions can include participating in an actual boat race in Philipsburg, climbing
waterfalls in Ocho Rios and scuba diving which is always very popular among passengers. They are
designed to give the passengers a new and thrilling experience that they cannot attain at home. In the
old days, the only cruise routes available were transatlantic and small European routes. The
transatlantic route became unpopular in the 1960 s as air travel shortened travelling time from less
than 20 hours by air versus four days by cruise. However, with the launch of newer,

The Fourth Industrial Revolution And Its Impact On The...
The Fourth Industrial Revolution builds on the Digital Revolution, representing new ways in which
technology becomes embedded within societies and even the human body. Industry 4.0 introduces
what has been called the smart factory, in which cyber physical systems monitor the physical
processes of the factory and make decentralized decisions. The physical systems become Internet of
Things, communicating and cooperating both with each other and with humans in real time via the
wireless web. Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the pillars in Industrial revolution 4.0. The Internet of
Things involves connecting the internet to everyday items in order for them to send, receive and
process data. This can lead to a decrease in production time, aid risk management and will save
manufacturers valuable resources such as time and money. Electronic tattoo is a device under Internet
of Things in health care. Electronic tattoo is the device which is thinner than a human hair, to monitor
vital signal. The reason they re called tattoos is that their application is similar to those in children s
fake tattoos. It usually starts out on a sheet of plastic, is then applied to the skin and rubbed on from
outside the plastic, then the plastic is peeled away, leaving only a very thin, rubber patch that has a
layer of flexible silicon wires. With the tattoo, all the electronic parts are built out of wavy, snake like
components, which mean they can cope with being stretched and squeezed. There are also tiny solar
cells which can generate power or get energy from electromagnetic radiation.
In addition to sensors, the electronics package can contain wireless networking capability, so they can
not only convey sensor data easily, but also be controlled from a remote computer or smartphone. It
functions as wearable electronic devices and replace traditional medical devices like heart monitors
and provide higher quality data. For instance, smaller, less invasive sensors could be especially useful
for monitoring premature babies or for studying patients with sleep apnoea without them wearing
wires through the night.
While most of them are based on thin metal films, a silicon membrane, or nanoparticle based printable
inks, we report

Food of Efficiency : The Role of Bread in Japanese Economic History from the 1910s to the 1960s

1910s and the 1960s, bread functioned as a food of efficiency and eventually became one of the main
staple foods in Japan. Form the 1970s to the present, bread has reformed into a form of snack in the
Japanese daily diet . While appreciating the delicate contemporary bread snacks , one might also
notice the contrast between bread s role as snack now and its role as a food of efficiency before. How
did bread become a food of efficiency, and what was the significance of this part of the history of
bread in Japan? From the beginning of World War I in the 1910s to Japan s Economy Miracle in the
1960s, bread served as a food of efficiency and the history of bread in Japan closely reflected the

Era Of Good Feelings Dbq
The Era of Good Feelings (1816 1825) marked a political period during president James Monroe s
presidency in which the disappearance of the Federalists enabled the republicans to govern in a spirit
of harmony. This period is titled so due to nationalism, decrease in political strife, and economic
growth post War of 1812. Although, Monroe managed to achieve his goal of national unity within the
country, there were still issues that had appeared during his presidency. Debates over tariffs, foreign
affairs, the national bank, and slave issues became much more evident during this time period.
Following the War of 1812, people in America did not worry much about foreign affairs nearly as
much as they did over American individualism and nationalism. ... Show more content on

Its purpose was to even out the amount of slaveholding state representatives in congress. To do this,
Maine became free slave state and Missouri was created as a slave state. Because of this, all slavery
was extinguished in the northern states, but available in the southern states (Document E). Congress
also established a line across the southern border of Missouri to distinguish the northern states from
the southern states. All states north of this line must be free of slavery and those south of the line will
contain slavery. This Compromise lasted for roughly 35 years until slavery was completely abolished
in America. The Tariff of 1816 was a protective tariff that helped American businesses by taxing
British goods that were often cheaper and of higher quality than American goods. This ultimately
boosted the sales of American products and was very successful in protecting industries. Most of the
U.S. Representatives voted for the the Tariff because they understood that they must protect American
manufacturing (Document F). Those who opposed the tariff feared that New England s commercial
strength would be weakened and they would

  • 2. The Character Of Ignatius J. Reilly In A Confederacy Of... In A Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Tool, Ignatius J. Reilly is trying to prove that he is smarter than society in New Orleans during the 1960 s. He is forced to find work to pay off the debt that his mother fell into after crashing her car into a building. Ignatius has no shame in telling people how he feels about them or their beliefs. His encounters while he is trying to find work bring out his true colors: lazy, complaining, and paranoid. Throughout the book, Ignatius shows that he has no desire to put the good education that he has received into effect in the real world. While they are at the Night of Joy, Mrs. Reilly says, I spent all his poor Grammaw Reilly s insurance money to keep him in college for eight years, and since then all he s done is lay around the house watching television (Toole 22). When Mrs. Reilly walks into Ignatius s room and asks him why he has trash all over the floor, he says, That is my world view that you see. It still must be incorporated into a whole, so be careful where you step (46). All that he means when he says this is he is too lazy to pick it up. • 3. Bilingualism Importance Quynh Nhi Tran P. 4 The Importance of Bilingualism In my life, I must speak many different languages: English at home, with my friends, in public, as well as Vietnamese with family. When speaking to my parents, I show respect and sometimes humor. I often even combine English with Vietnamese. With my siblings and friends, I use sarcastic and understanding tones. In public, I carefully choose my words in order not to offend anyone. With extended family, I quietly speak in the polite Vietnamese that my culture demands. Because I speak a variety of languages, my ability to communicate with others heightens. To me, bilingualism means communicating in public or private languages and embracing its culture. The dictionary definition does not encompass the importance or connotation of bilingualism. Martín Espada and Richard Rodriguez, esteemed authors, write essays about the role of bilingualism in their lives. Espada s essay, The New Bathroom Policy At English High School , describes the superiority English holds over other languages, and Rodriguez s essay, Hunger of Memory , details the sacrifices of learning English. Both authors speak Spanish and English, have received a myriad of awards for their writing, and have experienced the difficulties maintaining two languages. Each author depicts their definitions of bilingualism. Espada portrays it as the right to speak multiple languages, including keeping and developing a passion for it: Defending the right to use the tongue of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Businesses are feeling the difficulty to improve procurement and sourcing efficiency. The value that can be achieved through successful procurement practices is often a lot harder to achieve than many companies actually realize. If a company expects to grow and survive, it constantly needs to add value. Procurement is one area that has become a critical area of focus to create a more competitive and efficient supply chain. Fortune 500 companies like IBM, Dell, and Delta Air Lines are spending higher than 50% of their revenues on procurement. For a long time, procurement has been looked at as negotiating to get better prices. Many organizations still view procurement as a way to influence spending to get discounts and lower costs from their suppliers. However, sustainability and the supply chain risks that companies face today call for procurement to be different now. Organizations can see real savings by looking at total cost of ownership, which can include a lot of the end to end supply chain costs. Disruptions are unavoidable and every decision involved in the procurement process has a risk factor to it. In order for procurement to influence and affect a company it must present a business case that it is a value added function. An organization can add value long term with its ability of purchasing within procurement. Organizations need to stop short term thinking because of the high risk levels associated with this. Procurement decisions can add a lot of value to a company, but organizations need to think of the long term implications of their decisions. Purchasing is important to competitive advantage because it increases value and savings for a firm. As for the speed factor in power, the racquet needs to strike the ball quickly to overcome gravity which pulls the ball towards the ground. However, if the power in the serve is mediocre, then the ball would not travel far before it hits the court ground; also, less power means the ball may not surge past the net. If the ball does the court, then your opponent would have higher chance of hitting it. During the strikes in both offense and defense, power is required in order to win the rally. By exerting more power into a strike, the opponent would be vulnerable to missing or hitting the ball with limited strength. Many Christians believe in the virgin birth. Also, Christians give gifts and have Christmas decorations for example a Christmas tree. Jews light eight candles and each candle represents a different day. In addition, for Hanukkah they light the menorah and play the dreidel. Another difference is the importance of Christmas and Hanukkah. Christmas celebrates the nativity of Christ and it is as diverse as the many countries that observe it, and was a popular subject in the Catholic and Orthodox religious art of the middle ages and Renaissance( The Gift of Holiday Traditions).Hanukkah is celebrated after a miracle occurred when the Jewish people reclaimed their temple from their Seleucid (Macedonian) conquerors Judah s men tried to reconsecrate the Jewish temple by lighting its menorah which is a sacramental lamp. The story of the birth of Jesus can be found in the bible. Hanukkah is in the First and second book of Maccabees. If there was no Christmas the religion Christianity would not have existed. • 23. The Role Of Religion And The Rise Of Capitalism The weber thesis is the argument that turned Marx on his head: Instead of capitalism causing religion, religion actually caused capitalism as stated in Collins (pg. 47). Weber goes on to stating as the Catholic Church was broke down during the 1517 by Martin Luther, he abolished the monasteries, the priests could get married but also the Bible could get translated from Latin to German so the people could read it for themselves. This meant that the priests were just like ordinary people and people could find their own way to embed their beliefs of God within their own lives. Weber then established religion was having a major effect in producing modern capitalism. Max Weber and Karl Marx are established as the two well known theorists of the 19th Century. Many argue that there are various comparisons between these sociologist s theories, however although Marx and Weber both examined similar ideas, they noticeably came to two drastically different conclusions. This essay will go on to critically analyse what the role of religion was in the rise of capitalism and discuss how Weber s work was criticised by numerous sociologists e.g. Marxism and Durkheim. Weber s theory very quickly became recognised by many, this was because it had shown an association between religious ideas and economic development. He was not arguing that capitalism in general was caused by Protestantism. He was just drawing the connection between Calvinism and a particular kind of capitalism. Both the ... • 24. Classroom Space Impact On Students And The Overall... There have been a number of studies done to show how the amount of space that is available in a classroom can have an effect on the behavior of the students and the overall environment of the classroom. In 2003, Duncanson found that classroom space impacts how teachers and students behave. He found that classrooms with small amounts of space were prone to have inefficient pathways and look cluttered. In part, it was found that this situation was caused by the large amount of room teachers reserved for their own use and the large amount of space covered by other pieces of furniture. The arrangement of the furniture hampered the natural flow patterns and created small open spaces for students to work. Thus teachers more or less identified and assigned the spaces that were to be used by students while working on an activity (Duncanson, 2003). The ideal classroom is one where there are minimal distractions to learning, focused attention on classroom discussions and positive learning about critical subject material. With this in mind, it is important to understand what causes misbehavior and what can be done to limit it. Misbehavior must be taken in context however, since one must look at the situation and instructor to determine if a particular action falls in the misbehavior category. For example, walking around during a math lesson would be unacceptable, but walking around in a pottery class would be expected (Burden, 1995). In one study by Tiirkniiklii Galton (2001), ... • 27. The Pollution Of The San Joaquin Valley The Water In The Valley. If the water is contaminated by the airborne pollutants, whether by depositing through direct water surface contact or by depositing on land and being carried to water bodies through run off, the residents will face problems. Once in the water, these pollutants can cause the fish to poison people upon consumption, or the fish could die out. Harmful algal blooms could occur; the water will become contaminated and unsafe to drink. This might seem like an exaggeration but in the San Joaquin Valley, the threat is very real. One might say that the people of the San Joaquin Valley may depend on water more than people elsewhere. The residents need water more because many of them depend on having enough water for their jobs, not just for their consumption. Being one of the top agricultural industries, the San Joaquin Valley residents need to have plenty of water for their industry of choice, whether is be for watering their crops or keeping the cows food (grass) alive, to ensure that they will be able to bring in profit to the valley and be able to feed themselves and their families. One of the reasons why the San Joaquin Valley is highly susceptible to water contamination is because of agriculture pesticides such as the nitrogen based fertilizer called nitrate. • 28. The Autobiography Of Malcolm X Essay 1 2 THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MALCOLM X Introduction Malcolm X?s autobiography written in collaboration with Alex Haley is an exciting story of personality transformation. During several years, Malcolm X told Haley his biography in several extensive interviews. Haley described and orchestrated the stories and Malcolm X edited and endorsed every part of the book. The story is narrated in the first person and it seems like Malcolm was writing this of his own. But it is important to understand that the autobiography is not written by Malcolm. Alex Haley recorded his words. The readers only have the visibility that this is a whole consistent narrative. From the point of view of determining the personality and development of Malcolm, the Autobiography is as captivating as it is exciting. It tempts the reader into combining the Autobiography with the real life and personality of Malcolm X in some forms. As it above mentioned the book has intrinsic rhetorical energy because it is first person narrator. This energy is considerably heightened by the colorful writing style which persuades the reader of the genuineness of the writer. This is like a secret agreement between reader and writer in which both accept that the story is completed and has cohesion. By doing this observation, I anticipated to see what people really choose. Since the subjects were unaware that I was watching them, they had no pressure to select a certain type of movie and could chose freely. In other ways of collecting data such as a survey or interview, people may be reluctant to be honest about some details. Through observation, there were no doubts if the subject was being dishonest because they freely chose the movie without even realizing I was watching them. A second route that I chose to collect data was to administer a survey to ten college age people. Of these ten people, five of them were females and five of them were males. The survey was given to these people while they were in their college dorm rooms. There were six questions on the survey, including a gender question, how many movies does the subject watch in an average month, and what are these movies classified as, adventure or romance/romantic comedy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The city of Jerusalem can be considered a major centre to Christianity because it is the location of Jesus s travels and it is also where he was killed, resurrected and ascended into heaven. It is also to location of where many of Jesus s miracles were performed. This is shown through the quote During Passover in the third year of his public life, Jesus entered Jerusalem and was welcomed by the crowds who rushed to meet him with palm branches. However, religious authorities were planning his arrest. (DesRivieres 225)This quote shows us that Jesus was a very important figure for Christianity as he was greeted by many people. It also proves that the location of Jesus s death and resurrection would be in the area around Jerusalem as it was where he was arrested for blasphemy. All this means that Jerusalem is a major centre for Christianity as many major events surrounding the life of Jesus occurred. Another way Jerusalem is a major city for Christianity is because it is where the religion itself came from and how it spread from that with The Pentecost. The Pentecost was a major event that caused the followers of Jesus to gain the ability to speak different languages in order to spread Christianity to different countries. (Zavada) An article also says Pentecost, a Jewish feast, was celebrated 50 days after Passover, and pilgrims had come to Jerusalem from all over the world to celebrate the event. The 12 apostles were gathered together in a house when a terrific wind came from heaven and filled the place. They saw tongues that looked like fire that separated and came down on each of them. (Zavada) This quote shows us that the early Christian Church started in Jerusalem and spread throughout the world from there. This means that Jerusalem is an important religious centre in Christianity because it originated from there. These reasons are why Jerusalem is also a major religious centre to ... The people of Maycomb see Tom in two different ways. There is the public view of Tom and the private view of him. The public view would include the people of Maycomb who do not know Tom at a personal level, while the private view would be his family, Calpurnia, and the other African Americans in the town of Maycomb. The public see Tom as a dangerous man. For instance in the book it states I seen that black nigger yonder ruttin on my Mayella (Lee 231)! Mayella even said that He got me round the neck, cussin me a sayin dirt I fought and hollered, but he had me round the neck. He hit me agin a agin (Lee 241). Both Mayella and Bob Ewell make the people in the court believe that Tom is some sort of killer or dangerous man who should be lynched. Even Scout thought that Tom Robinson s powerful shoulders rippled under his thin shirt (Lee 248). Tom was very built, and that did not help his case. Before Tom even gave his testimony most people in the court and jury believed he was guilty. Furthermore, The public view of Tom Robinson also includes that he is an abusive man that takes advantage of woman. Such as when Mayella said I got somethin to say a I ain t say no more. That nigger yonder took advantage of me (Lee 251). After she said this, Tom became known as a person who would hurt women in an appalling way. Another example is when Atticus says Miss Mayella, not to be tedious, you ve testified that the defendant hit you, grabbed you around the neck, choked you, and took advantage of you (Lee 248). Mayella states all of these facts in her testimony; making Tom look like a untrustworthy man. One part of her story states that she went in the house to get him the nickel and turned around an fore she knew it he was on her . (Lee 241) . Mayella makes the chance of Tom being innocent lower with her lies; Tom becomes a monster to the public view. On the other hand to some he is as innocent as a mockingbird. • 33. Loss and Reflection in The Wife s Lament Loss and Reflection in The Wife s Lament Isolation from society can evoke a deep loneliness and self reflection. The poem The Wife s Lament from the Exeter Book expresses the desolation of exile. The dominant theme is the contrast of a happy past and a bleak present of isolation. The anonymous author of The Wife s Lament uses setting, tone, and conflict to develop the theme of great loss. He/she augments a situation in which meditation on life s past joys is the only redemption in a life sentenced to confinement. The Wife s Lament is an excellent example of nostalgia, resentment of the present, and hopelessness about the future. While there has been much ambiguity surrounding the exact setting in the elegy, the author uses imagery of the speaker s environment to further emphasize the dismal realities of exile. The harsh land in which the wife is required to live mirrors the passionate longing and loneliness that she displays. This earth hall is old, and I ache with longing; the dales are dark, the hills too high, harsh hedges overhung with briars, a home without joy (Exeter Book 29 32). Meyer II The author emphasizes the drastic contrast in the speaker s emotional state through the setting she finds herself in. She is taken from the comfort of her home and thrust both an environment and mind state of isolation. However, the setting also helps fuel the hatred that develops in the wife s mind for her husband. • 43. The Fourth Industrial Revolution And Its Impact On The... The Fourth Industrial Revolution builds on the Digital Revolution, representing new ways in which technology becomes embedded within societies and even the human body. Industry 4.0 introduces what has been called the smart factory, in which cyber physical systems monitor the physical processes of the factory and make decentralized decisions. The physical systems become Internet of Things, communicating and cooperating both with each other and with humans in real time via the wireless web. Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the pillars in Industrial revolution 4.0. The Internet of Things involves connecting the internet to everyday items in order for them to send, receive and process data. This can lead to a decrease in production time, aid risk management and will save manufacturers valuable resources such as time and money. Electronic tattoo is a device under Internet of Things in health care. Electronic tattoo is the device which is thinner than a human hair, to monitor vital signal. The reason they re called tattoos is that their application is similar to those in children s fake tattoos. It usually starts out on a sheet of plastic, is then applied to the skin and rubbed on from outside the plastic, then the plastic is peeled away, leaving only a very thin, rubber patch that has a layer of flexible silicon wires. With the tattoo, all the electronic parts are built out of wavy, snake like components, which mean they can cope with being stretched and squeezed. There are also tiny solar cells which can generate power or get energy from electromagnetic radiation. In addition to sensors, the electronics package can contain wireless networking capability, so they can not only convey sensor data easily, but also be controlled from a remote computer or smartphone. It functions as wearable electronic devices and replace traditional medical devices like heart monitors and provide higher quality data. For instance, smaller, less invasive sensors could be especially useful for monitoring premature babies or for studying patients with sleep apnoea without them wearing wires through the night. While most of them are based on thin metal films, a silicon membrane, or nanoparticle based printable inks, we report ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
