Introduction. Tesla Motor’S Is An Astounding Car Company
Introduction
Tesla Motor s is an astounding car company who manufactures premium quality, high performance
electric vehicle. Their early investor, current chairman and CEO: Elon Musk has done a remarkable
job investing in this company. Tesla Motor s vision and mission has allowed the transition from
gasoline powered vehicles to energy efficient electric vehicles. They seek to design and sell the most
efficient sports car in the 21st century. However, Tesla has come up with an amazing strategy plan that
has allowed them to be successful by designing a detail manufacturing, marketing, product, and
financial and designing strategy plan. Elon Musk was very adamant about protecting the environment

Also, Tesla users have control over the battery system by controlling the temperature of the system
especially if the environment temperature is too low or too high. Thirdly, the infrastructure system has
allowed Tesla Motors to expand the supercharger network. The supercharger stations allows Tesla to
charge at a fast rate by delivering 120kW up to 80% in 40min.
General/ Macro Environment
Tesla Motor has a unique brand image and they are consistently improving profitability. However,
Tesla can improve its long term success by political, economic, social/sociocultural, technological,
environment, and legal factors on a macro scale.
Political Factor: o Tesla Motor s are able to increase their financial performance through the
government. If they put trade agreements in their plan, they may have a chance to increase new
opportunities so they can expand internationally. It has been a huge concern for Tesla to be political
stable in the major market on a macro scale. These external factors should help Tesla grow their
business and be successful.
Economic Factor: o Tesla Motor s should be able to decrease the battery costs, energy costs and
stability issues. If Tesla could decrease their energy costs it will help their product get more attention
on the market. Numerous countries are threatening Tesla s economic stability issues. These countries
outside of the US are forced to raise their prices up.
Social/Sociocultural Factor: o Tesla has been

The Mediation For Interstate Water Disputes
III. ANALYSIS
States should utilize mediation to resolve interstate water disputes. Mediation is a viable dispute
resolution process for water disputes because it can address states underlying interests, and can fit
within the existing legal framework. Mediation is also an adaptable process, which states can adapt to
their needs and interests. Not only should states attempt to adopt this process, but courts and special
masters should also push states towards mediation as an alternative to litigation for dispute resolution.
This section proceeds in three parts. The first part discusses the advantages of mediation as a dispute
resolution process. The second part discusses how states should structure mediation for interstate
water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1. Time Mediation will provide a quicker and more efficient process than litigation. Water disputes can
last for decades. For example, the Tri State dispute began in the early 1980s, but continues to this day.
Water lawsuits, before the Supreme Court, also proceed slowly with years spent on discovery and
determining whether a violation of a compact has occurred. Mediation can resolve disputes at a more
reasonable pace. But, mediation can also be slow itself with one water mediation lasting over six years
with no progress. Therefore, it is crucial that both mediators and states focus on creating deadlines for
themselves and ensuring mediation proceeds without delay. In general, mediation will produce faster
outcomes for states.
2. Cost States will save significant taxpayers dollars by choosing mediation over litigation. States that
have chosen to pursue mediation have cited the massive expenses involved in litigation as one of their
primary reasons for doing so. For example, in the Tri State dispute, Georgia allocated over twenty
million dollars to fund its ongoing litigation with Florida and Alabama. Due to both the process and
the reduced time frame, mediation should serve to reduce costs for states. However, mediation will
also have associated costs. For example, costs for experts and data collection may be significant.
Nevertheless, mediation is likely to be less expensive compared to

Ford Edsel Biography Essay
First produced in 1958, The Edsel was produced by inspiration of Henry Ford s Son, Edsel Ford, who
passed away on May 26th, 1943. The Edsel was only on production for 3 years. Only about 160,000
Edsels were produced in that time period due to the lack of sales (Skinner). This model of car was
discontinued in 1960 and the failure cost Ford Motor Company millions of dollars. There are still a
few thousand Edsels in existence and there are clubs around the world founded exclusively for owners
of the Ford Edsel.
Edsel Bryant Ford was born on November 6th, 1893. This was around the time that cars started rolling
out onto the dirt roads. (Ford Corporate) Edsel did not like horse drawn carriages because the lack of
style and comfort. This is why he helped his dad draw and design cars for the Ford Motor Company.
The Ford Motor Company was started on the 16th of June in 1903 with only $28,000 from a few
investors (Bak 1). He and his dad, Henry Ford worked on cars all the time together. It was their
favorite pass time. Edsel built 2 cars from scratch of his very own with his dad Henry Ford. The two
cars were called the speedsters. He based the cars off of the Ford Model T. He made two of those cars.
In 1912. Edsel decided not to go to college and go straight into the automotive industry. In the first 3
years of his career, Edsel did basic office work at the Ford Motor Company which included, Writing
papers, sales, and helping consumers with their paperwork. Eventually in 1915, he

Sports As A Team And The Main Objective Of The Game
For rugby however, there are 15players on a team and the main objective of the game is to use the ball
to have more points than the other team. In this sport a player can run, kick and pass with the ball but
they are not allowed to pass the ball forward. It is a contact sport as the players can tackle the
opponent/opposition in order to get the ball. There are three ways to score points in rugby, which is by
a try, a conversion and a goal kick. A try is worth five points, a conversion is worth two points, and a
goal kick is work three points. Therefore, this sport becomes a high scoring game. Rugby is played on
a grass field with lines on it to outline the boundaries. At each end of the fields there are goal posts at
either end with an in goal area, where players can score their points by placing the ball over this try
line. One team defends and the other is trying to score points, the same as netball. Rugby consists of
eight minutes and is split into forty minute half s. At half time there is a ten minute break then teams
swap ends of the field. These are the basic rules, regulations and objectives of this sport rugby.
Physical and mental training is required in both sports of Netball and Rugby. Mental attitude and focus
are essential elements in performance of these two sports. For optimal performance, athletes within
these two sports need to learn mental skills to activate and maintain their level of motivation. Physical
training is also an essential part of being

Describe How The Sociological Perspectives Explain Social...
Describe how the sociological perspectives explain social problems related to the family. The family
affords its members with a social uniqueness. Offspring are born into their parents social class, culture
and race, religious conviction, and so forth. Some kids have benefits throughout life because of the
social uniqueness they obtain from their parents, while others face many hindrances because the social
class or race/ethnicity into which they are born is at the bottom of the social ladder. The conflict
perspective accentuates that many of the problems we see in today s families stem from financial
inequality and from patriarchy. The problems that many families experience echo the fact that they

Many children will adjust to their parents divorce, but some will continue to have significant problems
into adulthood. Parents sensitivity to their child s needs is one of the most important factors in
facilitating adjustment. Other factors such as the child s age, gender and temperament will also
influence how well the child adjusts. Preschoolers tend to be emotionally needy, have fears related to
abandonment, and may display acting out behaviors following their parents divorce or separation.
Preschooler are likely to become very distressed during visit exchanges. Boys and girls tend to react
differently to their parents divorce. As a rule, girls tend to become anxious and withdrawn, while boys
tend to become more aggressive and disobedient. Girls from divorced families may become sexually
active earlier than girls from intact families. Interestingly, boys often adjust better when their mothers
remarry, while girls have more difficulty. Children of divorced families tend to have long term
adjustment difficulties when there is ongoing conflict between their parents. Boys are likely to display
marked behavior problems when this exists. Children s adjustment is also determined by the amount
of conflict the parents had before the divorce. Researchers have found that children in divorced
families, where there is little conflict following the divorce, do not differ in adjustment than children
from low conflict intact

Analysis Of The Poem Before You Were Mine By Carol...
The poems Before you were mine by Carol Anne Duffy and Mother any distance greater than a single
span by Simon Armitage, reflect on what it means to raise a child in the world. In before you were
mine , Anne Duffy shows how things change when you have child where as in mother any distance
greater than a single span Simon Armitage shows how hard it is to let go of your child. Duffy and
Armitage represent different parent child relationships. Ann Duffy s poem is about a relationship
between a mother and daughter. In Before you were mine , Duffy perceives her mother when she was
young and how things have changed since she had her child. The poet has a feeling of regret and
thinks its her fault that her mother lost some of her energy and being that bold girl winking in
Portobello . Duffy wishes her mother still lived a fun life even after she was born. Whereas in Simon
Armitage s poem, the mother struggle to let go of the son. Armitage writes that his mother s fingertips
still pinch the pinch meaning she cannot bear to let her son go which creates tension because the son
doesn t feel the same way. The poets are able to show how different kinds of parent child relationships
can reflect on how they feel about one another in the world. Duffy builds picture of her mother and
friends when she says on the corner you laugh on and her mother wearing a polka dot dress and then
mentions blows round your legs . Marilyne . The word Marilyne shows that the mother

Uncle Tom Stereotypes
In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now
has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes they
are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we associate with
races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom stereotype of the
well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of late it has been
revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film Django Unchained.
The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song of the South. The
aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was released in 2012. Were
those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype?
According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed,
hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas, and
remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on minstrel
stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline. These actors
were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. In her book titled Uncle Tom
Mania: Slavery Minstrelsy, and Transatlantic Culture in the 1850 s Sarah Meer discusses how the Tom
was divisive in nature, intended to be

Star Trek Myths
Both Star Trek and Star Wars are historically popular film series and cinematic works of art. Although
they may be works of fiction, the elements and symbols contained within them resemble historical
fact. In these films, there are culturally inherited myths that are synonymous with the very roots of
western civilization. In this essay, I will examine different examples of myth that are present in these
films, what they mean, and offer an explanation for why they are significant. In order to help
understand my thesis, the question may be asked, What is myth? In terms of this essay Myths are the
instruments by which we continually struggle to make our experience intelligible to ourselves. A myth
is a large, controlling image that gives philosophical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an example of Star Trek taking real events from the past and breathing life back into them by
retelling them in a utopian future. In Star Trek s series Deep Space Nine, the planet of Bajor, and its
inhabitants, the Bajorans are like the Hebrew people of Earth, They had a central religion that kept
them hopeful but also made them seem inferior. Instead of the Holocaust it is called the occupation
and it ends with the death of over 10 million people, often in camps. Even more so, the people
commiting this genocide, the Cardassians, were bankrupt, and forced into wars for agricultural land,
with the rise of a new fascist leader they began conquest. This closely mirrors The bankruptcy of
Germany in the 1920 s and their agricultural crisis which led to the rise of the power of Adolf Hitler.
With the help of Star Trek s United Nations, The united federation of planets The bajorans are able to
regain their homeland and be freed from their camps and establish a weak government. Now this
almost like a direct reflection of the events that took place in World War 2. It is very hard to talk about
or in a way recreate such a horrifying atrocity without criticism, the only way Star Trek did so was
because they put more emphasis on the good parts and the liberation, instead of the countless deaths of
innocents. This ties into another mythos that is key to Star Trek, The

The Big Data
Imagine being in a room with 10 people talking to you. Would you be able to understand the
conversations? It would be hard to concentrate on any one person s conversation, but you could
probably do it. Now, imagine being at the Superdome with 70,000 people talking to you. Would you
be able to understand any of the conversations? You probably could not understand any one person for
a length of time, but again you might pick out some of the words. Well, what if the scenario was 7
billion people speaking 6 thousand languages at an auctioneer s pace on the topic of their personal
family lineage; would you be able to create someone s whole family tree? This is the type of scenario
that represents the different facets of Big Data. What does it mean to say big data ? Big Data is more
than just massive amounts of data stored together. It is more than just data delivered or analyzed fast.
Meta Group s Doug Laney described it as data that has volume, velocity, and variety (2001). This is
the 3 V s of Big Data and is widely used to define it. Additions to this definition include other V s,
such as veracity and value (XXX). What is volume? Volume could be 7 billion people speaking at
once. It can be the data created by millions of Americans uploading photos, buying shoes online, or
searching for the definition of Big Data. It is the volume of data being created by researchers at
unprecedented amounts to chart the stars, to map the human genome, or to trend

the others. I also think that they are the largest target groups for the presidential candidates to appease

the course of the election. For the evangelical Christians there is no data on the 2000 election and past

The demographic group didn t change much with the way they voted or the turnout at the time of the

the previous years. With a slight increase in the vote for the republican candidate, also there were the
same number of people turn out for the election.
Well for the 2008 and 2012 election there vote for the democratic candidates siked and has stayed that
way for whoever Obama supports. They also have voted for the candidate that supported gay rights,
affordable healthcare, and many other things. There are many other things like policy agenda and

For the male demographic group there has been some fluctuation in the way the demographic group
has voted. The demographic group makes up about half of the population with some of the elections it
is a bit different but not enough to make a big difference in the way the vote went. They also in the last

Stoichiometry Lab Report
Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid
By Jaime Conklin
Partner: Deanna Ryan
CHE 120 03
Instructor: Mr. Cusumano
September 30, 2015
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between reagents and the
identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization reactions of a triprotic acid, phosphoric
acid, and varying molar equivalents of sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to determine the
formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions.
Introduction
In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula, polyprotic
acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles.
Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses of
molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find the
products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium
chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom
of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be changed.
Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl → NaCl + 9,999Na
Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small,
whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the empirical formula, or a multiple of the
empirical

Examples Of Satan In Dante s Inferno
How do people imagine satan? Majority picture him as a red demon with a long tail and a red
pitchfork. However, based on Dante alighieri ,Inferno, that is not how Satan, Lucifer, looks like.
Lucifer is a three face fallen angel representing the holy trinity and six bat wings total. He is also
frozen up to the midpoint of his chess. Indeed frozen and not burning like most readers would think.
However it is understandable that Dante show him frozen to prove that evil cannot prevail past God.
With this in mind, a Dante alighieri s depiction of Satan at the bottom of hell reveals the theme of in
hell the punishment is fit to the crime.
Dante depicted satan as he did to prove satan received a fitting punishment. For instance, he mentions,
No feathers had they, but as of a bat Their fashion was; and he waving them, So that three winds
proceeded forth therefrom. (Dante, Canto 34). Even if Satan try to stop flapping his wing to make the
ice melt to escape, once the ice melted he would use his wings to fly making the river freeze again.
This fits the crime because just like he betrayed his own God in a way his own wings are betraying
him not letting him escape. The depiction of Satan in Hell differs from the stereotypical description
because Satan is seen as the ruler of hell and not another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with his teeth was crunching A sinne, in a manner of a brake, So that he three of them tormented thus.
(Dante Canto 34). Satan s punishment fits more because he tried to have more power and more word
over God. However, with him having his mouth full he has no voice over

Chemistry s Presence in Technology Isn t Always Blatantly...
It is typical when analyzing technology for the presence of chemistry to be hardly noticed or failed to
be seen at all. This is a false assessment, and is caused by simply not looking close enough. Chemistry
s presence is not always blatantly obvious, even though it is truly at the root of most all technology we
use on a daily basis. One of the fields of technology that we do in fact use on a daily basis that
chemistry impacts, and therefore impacts whole other genres of technology, is the battery. Although
often taken for granted, the battery is a huge part of the technology we use today and chemistry is
integral to it. The advancement of chemistry advances the technology and materials we use to make
batteries and therefore advances a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the foundation of the battery s origin understood, a basic understanding of how a battery works is
needed to see how new resources improved upon it. A battery consists of one or many cells. Within a
cell there is a cathode and an anode that are separated by an electrolyte. The electrolyte is typically an
acid or a salt. When a closed circuit is made between the anode and the cathode, the positive ions
move from the anode to the cathode, and the negative ions move from the cathode to the anode. The
movement of ions causes a current that can be harnessed (Battery 168). The whole idea of a battery is
a chemistry concept, but where chemistry is useful now is finding new materials for the anode,
cathode, and electrolyte to make stronger currents. It is easy to see that current day batteries have
advanced beyond using vinegar and iron bars such as the Parthian Battery. Typical batteries today are
alkaline batteries. These batteries are far more complex than the Parthian Battery and use a wide array
of elements to create a strong current. Alkaline batteries are able to be and used because of knowledge
we have gained through chemistry research. It was not by accident that certain elements came together
to create an alkaline battery, it was through pursuit in the understanding of chemistry. The battery was
able to be advanced by discovery of new resources that were found to be useful in a battery cell, and
this concept

Music and Well-Being Essay
1.1 OVERVIEW OF THE TOPIC
Music is one of the greatest human creations (DeNora, 2000). It plays an integral role in human
society worldwide irrelevant of race, gender, age, wealth or well being (Kemper Danhauer, 2005).
Indeed according to Batt Rawden (2010), playing different music in diverse situations can introduce
listeners to the desired and relevant atmosphere. In most circumstances, music is played to entertain
people, but it can also form part of an accompaniment in sad situations. Music is often the fulcrum
that influences the listener by creating a unique ambience and atmosphere (Bernatzky, Presh,
Anderson, Panksepp, 2011). Chamorro Premuzic and Furnham, (2007) adds that music can be a

Music during surgery was first introduced in the early 20th century as a complementary therapy with
anaesthesia (Light, Love, Benson, Trier Morch, 1954). They argued that music distracted the patient
from the fear of surgery and complemented analgesia effect with the use of nitrous oxide, which
ultimately effected, the pain suffered by the patients..
Engwall (2009) defined pain as a symptom and a warning that something is wrong in an organism (p
370). Rathmell et al., (2006) maintained that fear of uncontrolled pain can be a traumatic situation for
a patient undergoing surgery. Moreover, Pellino, et al (2005) sustained that pain is a multidimensional
experience, consisting of not only physical stimuli but also psychological interpretations of pain (p.
182). Alleviating peri operative pain is traditionally achieved with the use of pharmacological
interventions. analgesia can incur undesirable side effects like drowsiness, nausea and vomiting.
Controlling the pain by complimenting analgesics with the use of non pharmacological interventions,
might ameliorate patients response to pain with fewer resultant side effects. Thus, the need to evaluate

He experiences severe pains in his abdomen, back, and legs. ? Feeling extremely weak, he catches a
flight home, and contacts his family physician, Dr. Ortega. Dr. Ortega measures his blood pressure at
70/50 and then orders a series of laboratory tests. ? He asks Nicholas how long he has had the tan and
the other symptoms he describes. Nicholas indicates he only noticed them within the last year.
Q. What might cause the pain in the abdomen, back and legs? Electrocytes imbalances and/or
dehydration.
Q. The viral infection poses a kind of stress. Why might Nicholas have such a severe reaction? He is
already in a compromised state; people who are not healthy have bodies that are not equipped to
handle additional stressors.
Results of the lab tests on Nicholas are summarized below: low serum Na ( 130 mEq/l) high serum K (
5 mEq/l) ? ratio of serum Na:K ( 30:1) elevated hematocrit ? low WBC count decreased plasma
cortisol and aldosterone urine ? shows increased excretion of Na and decreased excretion of K low
levels of hydroxycorticosteroids in the urine
Q. How do the abnormal Na and K levels relate to adrenal function?
The mineralocorticoid (aldosterone) is normally released by the adrenal cortex in response to
decreased sodium and increased pottasium levels; the hormonally acts to promote the retention of Na
and the excretion of K. It isn t working; hence the abnormal serum levels.
Q. What does the high hematocrit means?

Persuasive Essay On Gun Laws
Strict gun laws lead to more gun violence and crime in America. Guns are very dangerous and can be
used for harmful reasons, but guns can also be good for America and can be used for protection and
safety. These issues are very serious and can be detrimental which leads to the question, should our
nation s gun laws be changed.
Americans have been facing a major crisis for a while, guns. Gun related crimes have been plaguing
America, especially most major cities. Chicago has the highest murder rate in America, but Chicago
has one of the strictest gun laws in America. The reason that so many people are getting killed in
Chicago is because the law abiding citizens who would acquire guns for protection, have a hard time
acquiring guns due to Chicago s laws, but the people who want to use guns for crimes are willing to
go to extreme heights to get a gun. Guns will continue to be an issue in America if our current gun
laws are not changed.
Multiple political figures and citizens of America believe that the solution to America s gun issue is to
make gun laws more lenient. People believe that if America increases the amount of guns accessible to
the average citizen then America s streets will be safer, and there will be less gun violence. This fact is
backed by Most political figures and citizens who want more guns in America, as they want them for
one large reason, self defense. To support this, author William J Bennett wrote an article supporting
the claim that gun laws should

Abstract
The application of Field programmable Gate Array(FPGA) in the development of electronics circuit
control scheme has drawn much attention lately due to its shorter design cycle, lower cost and higher
density. This paper presents an FPGA based gate signal generator for single phase multilevel inverter
employing an sinusoidal PWM switching strategy to control its output voltage. The XILINX FPGA
based single phase multilevel PWM inverter was constructed by adding a bi directional switches to the
conventional bridge topology. The inverter can produce three and five different output voltage levels
across the load. FPGA is chosen for the hardware implementation of switching strategy mainly due to
its high computation speed that can ensure the accuracy of the instants that gating signals are
generated. VHDL language is used
to model the inverter switching strategies The PWM pulses was downloaded in
FPGA(XC3S400PQ208) from Spartan 3. In addition to FPGA, Xilinx/modelsim software was used
for simulation and verification of the proposed

Pneumocystis Essay
1. What is PJP?
PJP stands for Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia which is caused by a fungus called Pneumocystis
jiroveci. This fungus is found in the environment and many people have already been exposed to it at
a young age; however, if the person is healthy then he/she will not become sick. In a person with a
weakened immune system, Pneumocystis jiroveci can cause a lung infection making it an
opportunistic infection. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/000671.htm 2. Differentiate between HIV
positive status and AIDS.
HIV is a virus. AIDS is a condition or set of symptoms that can develop in a HIV positive person after
a prolonged period of time. You can have HIV and not have aids, but if you have AIDS then you must
also be infected with HIV. Because HIV is a virus, it can be passed from person to person but AIDS
cannot. When a person becomes infected with HIV, the virus begins to attack their immune system and
render it weak. Over time the immune system can no longer fight off diseases that it once could which
can eventually lead to developing AIDS. Symptoms for AIDS can vary from person to person
depending on the opportunistic infection in which they have acquired. ... Show more content on

The Role Of The Teaching Assistant
The teaching assistant needs to know roughly how to play the instruments and which ones create
which note, i.e. Kettle drums have all the notes on it so need to be hit in different places to create the
different sounds, and different drums in a drum kit for example create different sounds. They also need
to know the names of the different notes and what they sound like and how they can be strung together
to form a possible tune.
By the teaching assistant having a knowledge in music in general this then allows the class to be
potentially cut into two or more smaller groups depending upon the number of assistants there are.
This means that learning would be more effective as the children are in smaller more manageable
groups and the ratio of teacher/assistant to pupil is better and if a pupil has a question or needs help ...

and know the rewards and consequences within the policy to effectively promote positive behaviour
and learning. If pupils see that their behaviour is affecting the lesson in the negative way they want,
then that in itself is a reward for a job well done . It is the job of the teaching assistant to praise just as

Strategies For A Successful Business
Customer needs There are three ways to start up a successful business: 1. Do something really new
and people want. 2. Do something that already exists, but do it better. 3. Do something that already
exists, but at lower costs. All of this of course depends on customers needs and wants also having a
good understanding of what existing businesses are supplying. Good customer service is vital to the
success of a new business. Also, lack of enthusiasm of workers will reduce customer satisfaction.
Using market research, a business owner can understand what customers are looking for. The starting
point for checking facts is secondary research finding out data that already exists; by using google.
Secondary research could include the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they both satisfy the customer, it will most likely result in many customers buying that certain
product. o Improving quality consumers don t want something that is cheap looking, they want
something durable. o Offering wide range giving customers many options to choose from, e.g. Argos.
o Innovative products many people desire new products that are in fashion or trending. There is a high
level of demand for iPhones because the quality is excellent; there is a range to choose from (4, 4s, 5,
5c, 5s, 6 and 6+); with every new release, there is a new feature (innovation); the prices are
reasonable. Apple is competing fiercely against similar businesses to itself such as Samsung in order
to gain customers. Drawbacks of competition: o Increasing rate of unemployment Because businesses
have to cut costs in order to increase their profit and compete, the number of workers will be cut down
and this will mean that the business will lose skills and the workers will become unemployed for a
while before finding another job. Businesses are always looking for cheaper labour, in some countries,
people can be exploited for very little money and longer hours. For example in India, some people are
uneducated and are forced to work in factories where working conditions are poor; wages are
extremely low such as 17p per hour also working longer hours. This is very unethical and
controversial

The At The Arena Of Energy Policy
Introduction: Building off observations of political structure and derived stability in the previous paper
I will, in this paper, apply lessons learned to the arena of energy policy in both Sweden and South
Korea. South Korea and Sweden present the interesting similarity of both being net importers of
energy resources and for that reason both having the real incentive of formulating some system of
energy self sufficiency to protect them from the dangers inherent to having an economy dependent on
the imports from another country. I will begin with outlining the energy issues and subsequent policies
being addressed in each country, followed by an in depth examination on how the political structure of
each country has affected the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sweden: Sweden s push for energy self sufficiency began with a public demand for environmentally
friendly sources of energy post World War II. Environmental issues such as acid rain and hydroelectric
ecological destruction resulted in a slew of renewable energy subsidies and public investments in the
60 s and 70 s (Silveria, 2002). As seen in the prior study of the countries unicameral legislative
reform, it was also this time when Sweden dissolved its formally bicameral legislature in favor of a
less rigid unicameral system. During this time, post 1973, Sweden saw a large uptick in the number of
bills being passed, included in this was transitory legislation for the promotion of energy self
sufficiency in Sweden (Congelton, 2003). As seen in Fig 1.1, this 1970 s push for environmental
protection greatly increased the countries reliance on the development of nuclear energy for a
replacement baseline source of energy production in the country. In recent years the energy focus has
shifted from nuclear towards the development of solar and wind infrastructure, development which
,due to the high cost of primary investment, requires government subsidies to sustain. In modern days
Sweden s focus on the development of renewable energy can be traced to both ideological and
economic roots, its current minority coalition government is comprised in large part of the green party

Desiree: A Symbol for Victorian Woman
Gender roles were very much defined in the Victorian era and there was not much room open to
interpretation. Men and women both had clear roles in society and very rarely did any gender step
outside that position within the social hierarchy. These roles were defined by the sex and color of a
person. Kate Chopin exemplifies these roles very accurately within her story, Desiree s Baby. In the
short fiction story, Desiree s Baby, the author Kate Chopin incorporates many motifs, symbols, and
imagery to describe gender assumptions and racial roles for both men and women in the 1800s by
narrating the story of an adopted mother named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, it was a great deal of importance for women to be pure and innocent before marrying a man.
Desiree, though born of unknown lineage, is a representation of the pure and innocent woman of the
household who holds the importance of the duties and responsibility of being a mother and a wife.
Colors continue to be prevalent in this short story through descriptions of the house at Aubigny and of
other people. When Desiree s adoptive mother comes to visit, she notices and describes the roof of the
house as black like a cowl, reaching out beyond the wide galleries that encircled the yellow stuccoed
house (Chopin 242). The colors used to describe the house are not chosen out of pure randomness; it is
chosen to symbolize the race of people living within the Aubigny household. In this case, both colors
symbolize color of skin. Black refers to the numerous slaves Armand owns. Since these slaves are
African, they are considered as people of black skin. The yellow description of the house represents
that there is mixed race residing within the confines of the Aubigny household. By describing the
house as yellow, Chopin is hinting that the family who own the house comes from a lineage of mixed
races. The house itself is the very pride of the Aubigny name and Chopin masterfully describes it as a

Cause Of Homelessness In America
There are anywhere from 500,000 to 2.8 million homeless youth in the United States alone. (
Homelessness and Runaway ). There are different reasons as to why they re without a home range
drastically from a desire for freedom to a severe family conflict that has forced them out of their
homes. There have been countless stories about ragged boys and girls in the United States struggling
to survive during the changing seasons, using tunnels and bridges as their homes, cardboard as their
beds, and forming new families on the streets to remain sane. Homeless youth can be defined as 12 to
twenty year olds who are without family support and who are living in unstable circumstances without
a secure home. ( Homelessness ) The origin of homelessness is traced back all the way to colonial
America. In the early times of America, the homeless were referred to as vagrants or sturdy beggars .
Just like today, many were forced to become homeless due to negative factors in their homes or
general lives. Specifically, wars had a huge influence on the amount of homeless in early America.
Also, The economic uncertainties of life in early America left many people in the lower class without
a place to live. ( Homelessness ). Today there are similar reasons as to why people are homeless, but
new reasons have also arose. Homelessness is a complicated issue in today s society that has many
contributing factors that not everyone is aware of. Currently, the youth of today s world are more at

The Film Frankie Alice Starring Halle Berry
Intro The film Frankie Alice starring Halle Berry is based on a true story of a woman who is living
with a dissociative identity disorder. Set a number of years back (likely the 1970s or 1980s), this film
provides the audience with a close up look at what it might be like to live with a mental health
disorder. While watching the film, I put a great deal of effort into understanding the symptoms and
episodes of the disorder, as the main character experienced them. Through my findings, I have a
greater understanding and appreciation not only of dissociative identity disorder but also of mental
health in general.
Mental Status exam diagnosis I would like to address each of the identities that appear in the film so
that I can go into more details about their traits as the paper progresses. The main character or identity
is Frankie who is an African American female in her early thirties who works as an exotic dancer. One
of the other personalities that she exhibits is a woman by the name of Alice, who is southern racist.
The final identity that appears much less often is a young child who the psychiatrist comes to call
Genius, as her very high IQ would suggest. The psychiatrist, Dr. Oswald performed somewhat of a
mental status examination when the main character Frankie came into the psychiatric center. At their
initial meeting, Dr. Oz asked Frankie questions that touched on the very basic elements of her life such
as questions about her work and her family. In this way,

The, Outliers, By Malcolm Gladwell
Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day. (Jim Rohn) Malcolm
Gladwell s, Outliers, published in 2008, makes arguments about what it means to be successful, and
how one can become successful. Gladwell specifically mentions the 10,000 Hour Rule which states
that anyone who wants to reach a definite level of mastery must perform 10,000 hours of practice until
that level is reached. Some believe this rule to be invalid as those who are successful are born talented.
Though I recognize that some people are born naturally gifted, I still contend that anyone who wants
to become great at what they do, needs to do supplementary amounts of practicing as it utilizes one s
potential to the fullest as Gladwell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gracyn, always having relied on her natural ability, was unaware of the hard work and practicing it
would take for her to succeed and make one of the teams. She began putting in much more effort,
time, and practice. Consequently, she made the Ohio State University cheer team. Success is the initial
ability plus the extra practice one is willing to put in to achieve it. Extensive practicing leads to these
behaviors becoming a way of life. There s an old Latin saying Repetitio mater studiorum est. which
translates to Repetition is the mother of all learning. Repetition is the key to proper practice as it is the
best way for a person to learn. The more a behavior repeats, it becomes habitual. There is a moment
where you become so good at something that you don t have to think about what you are doing, it
comes naturally. A basic example of this is tying your shoes. We learned at a very young age how to
tie our shoes. We kept practicing and practicing until the point where it doesn t take any thought of
what you are doing. Natural talent paired with repetition creates a natural success.
Practice is beneficial only if the person genuinely is interested in what they are doing. Raymond T.

Substrate Concentration Lab Report
Our group performed the test of decreasing the substrate concentration in the catalyzed reaction
decomposing hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen gas. For our baseline, we set up a reaction
using 10 ml 3% hydrogen peroxide (the substrate) and 1 ml yeast (the catalyst). We then calculated the
reaction rate to be 0.09375 ml/sec of oxygen produced. This reading is based off of the initial part of
the curve, before the plateau. Once the rate decreases in the data too much peroxide has been used up
to retain a steady reaction rate, so it is not reliable data for use in calculating the true rate. At this point
we hypothesized that a lower rate would be observed for lesser concentration of substrate because
there would be fewer molecules and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An increase in temperature means that the molecules are moving much more quickly, so there are
more interactions between molecules. This increases probability of molecules colliding with the
correct orientation and with sufficient energy to cause a reaction. There are, however, factors working
against this hypothesis. Enzymes, which serve as catalysts, significantly increase the rate of a reaction
by lowering its activation energy. As temperature increases, catalysts can become denatured, where the
protein unfolds beyond repair. Denaturation yields the proteins useless, so that would be expected to
decrease the reaction rate. Denaturation also can take place if the proteins become too cold. The true
test in this experimentation is of whether the increase in temperature damages the catalysts. If the
catalysts remain intact and can still facilitate reactions, the reaction rate is most likely to increase or
decrease with an increase or decrease in temperature, respectively. As projected, the reaction with the
increased temperature did in fact proceed the fastest, meaning the most water vapor was collected
initially. When temperature decreased, the rate stayed mostly the same. Since we did not carry out this
experiment, we are forced to guess at the cause of this. One possible option is that the temperature was
not altered enough to effect catalyst or the

Stein s life and the impact on her art The author of this poem, Gertrude Stein, was born in Allegheny,

Mission San Antonio Analysis
According to one of the friars from Mission Soledad, Native Americans had a fondness for every kind
of music (Geiger and Meighan 1976:135). This was not exclusive to this mission as many of the
padres from the Geiger and Meighan reading said that the natives had an inclination toward music.
This enthusiasm for music gave the padres an opportunity to use this to their advantage as the natives
would be more willing to learn and adopt European music compared to other European ways. But
even with this seemingly perfect opportunity, the padres faced many difficulties in simply teaching the
natives even though all of them had studied music and sung in choirs prior to coming to the New
World. They were simply not professional musicians, according to the padre from mission San

Rate of reaction between Hydrochloric Acid and Calcium Carbonate
Calcium carbonate reacts with hydrochloric acid to form carbon dioxide gas. One way of following
the rate of reaction at which it reacts is to measure the volume of carbon dioxide produced at certain
time intervals during the reaction.

Therefore, because they are closer the particles will collide more often. The more often they collide
the more chance they have of producing a productive reaction. If I had a wide range of molarities, it
would be easy to see this pattern.
METHOD
Before conducting our experiment where we would get our facts and evidence from, we carried out a
pre test. The pre test helped us decide the exact details of our experiment. We started off with testing
25cm³ of 3 molar hydrochloric acid to 2g of calcium carbonate medium size chips (we decided a
medium size chips before we started our pre test as we had a choice of 3, small, medium, large). We
saw that this reacted too quickly as we used 10 second intervals and we couldn t get 6 results this is
because our burette could only hold
100cm³ of water, which would make our results reliable. We then decreased the amount of Calcium
Carbonate to 1g and kept the same
25cm³ of 3 molar hydrochloric acid and 10 second intervals. We could get the right amount of results
of this, so we then tested the other extreme the lowest molarity. We tested both the highest and lowest
molar, as the molars in between would work and give us sufficient results if these two worked. We
took the 25cm³ of 0.5 molar hydrochloric acid and our 1g of calcium carbonate. This also worked.
This meant from our pre test that we would use 25cm³ of the solution,
1g of Calcium Carbonate and have 10 seconds interval between each reading. We

Passing Judgment In Mrs. Turpin s Revelation
When is passing judgment on others wrong? If we keep it to ourselves and do not speak it aloud, is
this okay? All humans judge each other, that is one of our unconscious past times, we do it without
thought to the consequences. We put ourselves in others positions and think we can do better, just as
Mrs. Turpin does, in the story Revelation what if Jesus had said, All right you can be white trash or a
nigger or ugly! (300). Mrs. Turpin prides herself on having good qualities and is sure she would be
respectable even if she were black. As we start our day, we try to find something to wear. Immediately,
we are worried about what people will think if we wear those pants that are a little tight, or the skirt
that is a little young for us, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turpin did. Somehow, we have to right the wrong, and clear our conscience, come to grips with it and
learn to live with how we are, or change. Mrs. Turpin was one of the lucky ones; she saw a vision in
the sky, which helped clear things up for her. A visionary light settled in her eyes, she saw the streak as
vast swinging bridge extending upward from the earth through a field of living fire: upon it a vast
horde of souls were rumbling towards heaven. There were whole companies of white trash, clean for
the first time in their lives, and bands of black niggers in white robes and battalions of freaks and
lunatics shouting, clapping, and leaping like frogs. And bringing up the end of the procession was a
tribe of people whom she recognized at once as those who, like herself and Claud, had always had a
little of everything and the God given wit to use it right. She leaned forward to observe them closer.
They were marching behind the others, with great dignity; accountable as they had always been for
good order and common sense. They alone were on key (331). Yet she could see by their shocked and
altered faces that even their virtues were being burned away (332). Ultimately, Mrs. Turpin was shown
that no matter what she thought of herself or how she judged others, God makes his own decisions and
in the end, it may surprise us all, just as it did Mrs.

Sonnet
The Spenserian Sonnet was named for Edmund Spenser 1552 1599, a 16th century English Poet. The
Spenserian Sonnet inherited the tradition of the declamatory couplet of Wyatt / Surrey although
Spenser used Sicilian quatrains to develop a metaphor, conflict, idea or question logically, with the
declamatory couplet resolving it.
Beyond the prerequisite for all sonnets, the defining features of the Spenserian Sonnet are: a
quatorzain made up of 3 Sicilian quatrains (4 lines alternating rhyme) and ending in a rhyming couplet
metric, primarily iambic pentameter. rhymed, rhyme scheme ababbcbccdcdee. composed with a volta
(a non physical gap) or pivot (a shifting or tilting of the main line of thought) sometime after the 2nd
quatrain. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, while the sonnet finally celebrates America s victory on Manila bay, that extreme joy is yet
destroyed by the first eight verses that shows our fighting spirit though our troubled history has only
lacked its brightness(dimmed).
Perhaps, it should have been sunset over Manila bay because foreigners often enjoy its view during
sunset, but the poet chose moonlight, not because it is more romantic(dramatic effect) but because, as
the poem suggests, it is under cover of darkness that foreigners stole our country from us The deep s
bare bosom that the breeze molests is a metaphor for American colonization.
So in our reading now, we understand that Maramag s insistence on our own scene so fair in fact
becomes a chief motive and inspiration for the Filipino poet. For his own scene is nothing less than his
lost country whose physical and spiritual geography it is his task to imagine and so rediscover. There
is still hope to heal all the wounds
A literary technique (also known as literary device) is any method an author uses to convey their
message.[1] This distinguishes them from literary elements, which exist inherently in literature.

The Paul Revere
From a lieutenant of artillery to a silversmith, Paul Revere is a man of many talents. He had a bigger
impact on American history then just exclaiming, The British are coming, though. Paul Revere is
important to American society because of his participation in politics, community affairs, and wars
and his craftsmanship. Paul Revere was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 1, 1735. Revere
was born to Apollos Rivoire, who later changed his name to Paul, and Deborah Hichman. Deborah
had grew up in Boston whereas Apollos moved to the city when he was 13. Revere was one of twelve
children and the third born. Paul Revere dropped out of school relatively young to become an
apprentice to his father who was a silversmith. In 1754, Revere s father died and being too young to
take ownership of the business, he enlisted in the army. It was during the French and Indian War that
Revere enlisted into the army. After just a short time, Revere was appointed second lieutenant of
artillery. This is where he first began a position of great success that he will use later in his life. He
spent the summer at Fort William Henry in New York. During his stay at the fort, he thoroughly
learned what his new position entailed. Not feeling that the war was his calling, he dropped out and
went home to take over family business. In August of 1757, Revere married Sarah Orne and within
just eight short months, they had their first child. The two had eight children together, but

Future Forecasts In Social Work
As a practicing social worker, I will continuously discover, appraise, and attend to changing locales,
populations, scientific and technological developments, and emerging societal trends to provide
relevant services by gaining a clear understanding of the future forecasts that are intended to predict
changes in trends that will in the future change the needs of individuals, groups, and communities. To
gain a clear understanding through future forecasts I will need to analyze the purpose of the future
forecasts, assess the underlying assumptions and credibility of source information, consider the
influences of socioeconomic conditions, have minimal expectations for the numbers to speak for
themselves, and assess the probability of surprise events (Chapin, 2014, p. 519). An Increased

for office, campaigning, lobbying, and conducting policy related research to present to policy writers
(Chapin, 2014, p. 551). As a practicing social worker I will register to vote, communicate my concerns
regarding current and future policies to elected officials, and encourage family members, friends, and
clients to increase their knowledge on the elected candidates stances on social policies that directly
relate to their life or the community as a whole and to have their voices heard through the voting
process. In addition to voting, I would consider campaigning for candidates that are have similar

How Theme Shapes a Story

Running Head: Theme page 1
Like many people who haven t studied literature, if someone asked me what the theme of a story was,
I would have given a synopsis of the story detailing the actions and characters in it. As I have come to
learn, theme is much more than a distilled retelling of a story. Theme gives a story a deeper meaning.
The theme focuses the story and is the behind the scenes force that propels the story forward. In other
words it gives the story purpose and shape. Theme will attempt to hold all the elements of your story

She furthers uses an image like the missing pine trees, which are a symbol of immortality, to bring to
life the understanding that death has arrived. When Rhys uses cold the reader and the character herself
realize the meaning of the journey death. The introduction of cold allows the reader to understand that
the journey has come to an end and is irreversible. Character also builds theme in a story. According to
our text when looking at how characters shape theme you should ask how do characters make a
particular aspect of the underlying area clear? (Clugston, R 2010) This is a good place to start when
looking at Rhys story. The author used the characters thoughts and feeling to unfold the symbols in the
story. The author also did not give a physical description on the woman, this adds to furthering the
theme of the journey in the story. The woman is no longer a live and therefore she doesn t need a
body. It is clear from the symbols pointed out by the woman that she is leading us on this journey. As
the character reaches the end her journey, we as the reader does as well. Rhys layers the symbols at the
end of the story so the reader begins to rapidly connect the dots in there meaning.

Why Do Schools Let Boys And Girls Play Sports Together
Although there are many people in my class, I think that girls and boys should get to play sports
together. Our school does not let boys and girls play sports together, many people think that is wrong.
When I went to my other school, they got to play any sports they wanted to with boys and girls. Many
people wish their school would let the girls and the boys play sports together. There is a very large
amount of evidence where schools let there boys and girls play sports together, here is some evidence,
a school in Oregon lets their boys and girls in their school play sports together if they want. There are
many schools that think that girls are missing out on sports in high school, so they encourage their
girls to play the manly

God bless America
To the world, America is seen as one of the greatest nations in the world. Some may even consider it
to be the greatest. Land of the pilgrims and so forth (Cummings 667). Symbolism is represented in the
poem next to of course god america i by the way E.E. Cummings uses the land of the pilgrims to
represent the countries roots, the heroic happy dead to represent the soldiers that have died for this
country to ensure liberty to all that partake of this land, and by the way he uses the roaring slaughter to
symbolise war and battle. In this essay, I will be discussing the ways the words used in this poem help
to create a symbol that the reader is able to comprehend and I will discuss some possible meanings

The Cedar Fire
Abigail Beinke

Research Paper
It was on October 21, 2003 at 5:37 pm that the nightmare started. A wildfire, The Cedar Fire , spread
rapidly in the Cleveland National Forest. Communication systems were destroyed and houses burned
to the ground. The fire was contained on November 4, 2003.
It is said that the wildfire was caused by a lost hunter. His name was Sergio Martinez. He is from
Redlands, California. Before starting the fire, he was following his hunter buddy, Ronald Adkins, until
they got separated at 10 a.m. that morning. He lied at first and said he shot his rifle before laying down
to rest in hopes to draw attention. Sergio Martinez then confessed he lit two small signal fires which
later turned into fourteen separate fires. He wanted to improve his chances of being found. The fire he
started was to be a signal fire and one to keep him warm. But as minutes passed, the fire grew out of
control. The fire started near San Diego but Martinez was found in Cold Water Canyon in Beverly
Hills, California one week later. He claims he was doing what he learned in his hunter safety course
back in 2002.
Much damage was done to homes, families, and personal belongings. Martinez said the following
statement in the courtroom, I would like to apologize to all the people who lost loved ones, family ...

Because of this, they did not have enough firefighters when the Cedar Fire started, which was the
biggest of all the California fires at that time. At the start of the Cedar Fire, they set up two command
centers. This resulted in confusion, which slowed down the battling of the blaze. These command
centers were merged into one a short time later. The command centers did not initially accept a request
for 25 additional fire engines until it became obvious that homes were about to burn. On the initial
night of the fire,

  • 5. The Mediation For Interstate Water Disputes III. ANALYSIS States should utilize mediation to resolve interstate water disputes. Mediation is a viable dispute resolution process for water disputes because it can address states underlying interests, and can fit within the existing legal framework. Mediation is also an adaptable process, which states can adapt to their needs and interests. Not only should states attempt to adopt this process, but courts and special masters should also push states towards mediation as an alternative to litigation for dispute resolution. This section proceeds in three parts. The first part discusses the advantages of mediation as a dispute resolution process. The second part discusses how states should structure mediation for interstate water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1. Time Mediation will provide a quicker and more efficient process than litigation. Water disputes can last for decades. For example, the Tri State dispute began in the early 1980s, but continues to this day. Water lawsuits, before the Supreme Court, also proceed slowly with years spent on discovery and determining whether a violation of a compact has occurred. Mediation can resolve disputes at a more reasonable pace. But, mediation can also be slow itself with one water mediation lasting over six years with no progress. Therefore, it is crucial that both mediators and states focus on creating deadlines for themselves and ensuring mediation proceeds without delay. In general, mediation will produce faster outcomes for states. 2. Cost States will save significant taxpayers dollars by choosing mediation over litigation. States that have chosen to pursue mediation have cited the massive expenses involved in litigation as one of their primary reasons for doing so. For example, in the Tri State dispute, Georgia allocated over twenty million dollars to fund its ongoing litigation with Florida and Alabama. Due to both the process and the reduced time frame, mediation should serve to reduce costs for states. However, mediation will also have associated costs. For example, costs for experts and data collection may be significant. Nevertheless, mediation is likely to be less expensive compared to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The poems Before you were mine by Carol Anne Duffy and Mother any distance greater than a single span by Simon Armitage, reflect on what it means to raise a child in the world. In before you were mine , Anne Duffy shows how things change when you have child where as in mother any distance greater than a single span Simon Armitage shows how hard it is to let go of your child. Duffy and Armitage represent different parent child relationships. Ann Duffy s poem is about a relationship between a mother and daughter. • 11. Uncle Tom Stereotypes In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes they are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we associate with races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom stereotype of the well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of late it has been revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film Django Unchained. The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song of the South. The aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was released in 2012. Were those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype? According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed, hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas, and remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on minstrel stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline. These actors were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. In her book titled Uncle Tom Mania: Slavery Minstrelsy, and Transatlantic Culture in the 1850 s Sarah Meer discusses how the Tom was divisive in nature, intended to be ... Although they may be works of fiction, the elements and symbols contained within them resemble historical fact. In these films, there are culturally inherited myths that are synonymous with the very roots of western civilization. In this essay, I will examine different examples of myth that are present in these films, what they mean, and offer an explanation for why they are significant. In order to help understand my thesis, the question may be asked, What is myth? In terms of this essay Myths are the instruments by which we continually struggle to make our experience intelligible to ourselves. A myth is a large, controlling image that gives philosophical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an example of Star Trek taking real events from the past and breathing life back into them by retelling them in a utopian future. In Star Trek s series Deep Space Nine, the planet of Bajor, and its inhabitants, the Bajorans are like the Hebrew people of Earth, They had a central religion that kept them hopeful but also made them seem inferior. Instead of the Holocaust it is called the occupation and it ends with the death of over 10 million people, often in camps. Even more so, the people commiting this genocide, the Cardassians, were bankrupt, and forced into wars for agricultural land, with the rise of a new fascist leader they began conquest. This closely mirrors The bankruptcy of Germany in the 1920 s and their agricultural crisis which led to the rise of the power of Adolf Hitler. With the help of Star Trek s United Nations, The united federation of planets The bajorans are able to regain their homeland and be freed from their camps and establish a weak government. Now this almost like a direct reflection of the events that took place in World War 2. It is very hard to talk about or in a way recreate such a horrifying atrocity without criticism, the only way Star Trek did so was because they put more emphasis on the good parts and the liberation, instead of the countless deaths of innocents. It would be hard to concentrate on any one person s conversation, but you could probably do it. Now, imagine being at the Superdome with 70,000 people talking to you. Would you be able to understand any of the conversations? You probably could not understand any one person for a length of time, but again you might pick out some of the words. Well, what if the scenario was 7 billion people speaking 6 thousand languages at an auctioneer s pace on the topic of their personal family lineage; would you be able to create someone s whole family tree? This is the type of scenario that represents the different facets of Big Data. What does it mean to say big data ? Big Data is more than just massive amounts of data stored together. It is more than just data delivered or analyzed fast. Meta Group s Doug Laney described it as data that has volume, velocity, and variety (2001). This is the 3 V s of Big Data and is widely used to define it. Additions to this definition include other V s, such as veracity and value (XXX). What is volume? Volume could be 7 billion people speaking at once. It can be the data created by millions of Americans uploading photos, buying shoes online, or searching for the definition of Big Data. The data will be used to determine the formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions. Introduction In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula, polyprotic acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles. Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses of molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find the products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be changed. Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl → NaCl + 9,999Na Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small, whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the empirical formula, or a multiple of the empirical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Examples Of Satan In Dante s Inferno How do people imagine satan? Majority picture him as a red demon with a long tail and a red pitchfork. However, based on Dante alighieri ,Inferno, that is not how Satan, Lucifer, looks like. Lucifer is a three face fallen angel representing the holy trinity and six bat wings total. He is also frozen up to the midpoint of his chess. Indeed frozen and not burning like most readers would think. However it is understandable that Dante show him frozen to prove that evil cannot prevail past God. With this in mind, a Dante alighieri s depiction of Satan at the bottom of hell reveals the theme of in hell the punishment is fit to the crime. Dante depicted satan as he did to prove satan received a fitting punishment. For instance, he mentions, No feathers had they, but as of a bat Their fashion was; and he waving them, So that three winds proceeded forth therefrom. (Dante, Canto 34). Even if Satan try to stop flapping his wing to make the ice melt to escape, once the ice melted he would use his wings to fly making the river freeze again. This fits the crime because just like he betrayed his own God in a way his own wings are betraying him not letting him escape. The depiction of Satan in Hell differs from the stereotypical description because Satan is seen as the ruler of hell and not another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a false assessment, and is caused by simply not looking close enough. Chemistry s presence is not always blatantly obvious, even though it is truly at the root of most all technology we use on a daily basis. One of the fields of technology that we do in fact use on a daily basis that chemistry impacts, and therefore impacts whole other genres of technology, is the battery. Although often taken for granted, the battery is a huge part of the technology we use today and chemistry is integral to it. The advancement of chemistry advances the technology and materials we use to make batteries and therefore advances a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the foundation of the battery s origin understood, a basic understanding of how a battery works is needed to see how new resources improved upon it. A battery consists of one or many cells. Within a cell there is a cathode and an anode that are separated by an electrolyte. The electrolyte is typically an acid or a salt. When a closed circuit is made between the anode and the cathode, the positive ions move from the anode to the cathode, and the negative ions move from the cathode to the anode. The movement of ions causes a current that can be harnessed (Battery 168). The whole idea of a battery is a chemistry concept, but where chemistry is useful now is finding new materials for the anode, cathode, and electrolyte to make stronger currents. It is easy to see that current day batteries have advanced beyond using vinegar and iron bars such as the Parthian Battery. Typical batteries today are alkaline batteries. These batteries are far more complex than the Parthian Battery and use a wide array of elements to create a strong current. Alkaline batteries are able to be and used because of knowledge we have gained through chemistry research. It was not by accident that certain elements came together to create an alkaline battery, it was through pursuit in the understanding of chemistry. The battery was able to be advanced by discovery of new resources that were found to be useful in a battery cell, and this concept ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It plays an integral role in human society worldwide irrelevant of race, gender, age, wealth or well being (Kemper Danhauer, 2005). Indeed according to Batt Rawden (2010), playing different music in diverse situations can introduce listeners to the desired and relevant atmosphere. In most circumstances, music is played to entertain people, but it can also form part of an accompaniment in sad situations. Music is often the fulcrum that influences the listener by creating a unique ambience and atmosphere (Bernatzky, Presh, Anderson, Panksepp, 2011). Alleviating peri operative pain is traditionally achieved with the use of pharmacological interventions. analgesia can incur undesirable side effects like drowsiness, nausea and vomiting. Controlling the pain by complimenting analgesics with the use of non pharmacological interventions, might ameliorate patients response to pain with fewer resultant side effects. Guns are very dangerous and can be used for harmful reasons, but guns can also be good for America and can be used for protection and safety. These issues are very serious and can be detrimental which leads to the question, should our nation s gun laws be changed. Americans have been facing a major crisis for a while, guns. Gun related crimes have been plaguing America, especially most major cities. Chicago has the highest murder rate in America, but Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in America. The reason that so many people are getting killed in Chicago is because the law abiding citizens who would acquire guns for protection, have a hard time acquiring guns due to Chicago s laws, but the people who want to use guns for crimes are willing to go to extreme heights to get a gun. Guns will continue to be an issue in America if our current gun laws are not changed. Multiple political figures and citizens of America believe that the solution to America s gun issue is to make gun laws more lenient. People believe that if America increases the amount of guns accessible to the average citizen then America s streets will be safer, and there will be less gun violence. Environmental issues such as acid rain and hydroelectric ecological destruction resulted in a slew of renewable energy subsidies and public investments in the 60 s and 70 s (Silveria, 2002). As seen in the prior study of the countries unicameral legislative reform, it was also this time when Sweden dissolved its formally bicameral legislature in favor of a less rigid unicameral system. During this time, post 1973, Sweden saw a large uptick in the number of bills being passed, included in this was transitory legislation for the promotion of energy self sufficiency in Sweden (Congelton, 2003). As seen in Fig 1.1, this 1970 s push for environmental protection greatly increased the countries reliance on the development of nuclear energy for a replacement baseline source of energy production in the country. In recent years the energy focus has shifted from nuclear towards the development of solar and wind infrastructure, development which ,due to the high cost of primary investment, requires government subsidies to sustain. Men and women both had clear roles in society and very rarely did any gender step outside that position within the social hierarchy. These roles were defined by the sex and color of a person. Kate Chopin exemplifies these roles very accurately within her story, Desiree s Baby. When Desiree s adoptive mother comes to visit, she notices and describes the roof of the house as black like a cowl, reaching out beyond the wide galleries that encircled the yellow stuccoed house (Chopin 242). The colors used to describe the house are not chosen out of pure randomness; it is chosen to symbolize the race of people living within the Aubigny household. In this case, both colors symbolize color of skin. Black refers to the numerous slaves Armand owns. Since these slaves are African, they are considered as people of black skin. The yellow description of the house represents that there is mixed race residing within the confines of the Aubigny household. Mental Status exam diagnosis I would like to address each of the identities that appear in the film so that I can go into more details about their traits as the paper progresses. The main character or identity is Frankie who is an African American female in her early thirties who works as an exotic dancer. One of the other personalities that she exhibits is a woman by the name of Alice, who is southern racist. The final identity that appears much less often is a young child who the psychiatrist comes to call Genius, as her very high IQ would suggest. The psychiatrist, Dr. Oswald performed somewhat of a mental status examination when the main character Frankie came into the psychiatric center. At their initial meeting, Dr. Oz asked Frankie questions that touched on the very basic elements of her life such as questions about her work and her family. In this way, ... • 36. The, Outliers, By Malcolm Gladwell Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day. (Jim Rohn) Malcolm Gladwell s, Outliers, published in 2008, makes arguments about what it means to be successful, and how one can become successful. Gladwell specifically mentions the 10,000 Hour Rule which states that anyone who wants to reach a definite level of mastery must perform 10,000 hours of practice until that level is reached. Some believe this rule to be invalid as those who are successful are born talented. Though I recognize that some people are born naturally gifted, I still contend that anyone who wants to become great at what they do, needs to do supplementary amounts of practicing as it utilizes one s potential to the fullest as Gladwell ... She began putting in much more effort, time, and practice. Consequently, she made the Ohio State University cheer team. Success is the initial ability plus the extra practice one is willing to put in to achieve it. Extensive practicing leads to these behaviors becoming a way of life. There s an old Latin saying Repetitio mater studiorum est. which translates to Repetition is the mother of all learning. Repetition is the key to proper practice as it is the best way for a person to learn. The more a behavior repeats, it becomes habitual. There is a moment where you become so good at something that you don t have to think about what you are doing, it comes naturally. A basic example of this is tying your shoes. We learned at a very young age how to tie our shoes. We kept practicing and practicing until the point where it doesn t take any thought of what you are doing. Natural talent paired with repetition creates a natural success. Practice is beneficial only if the person genuinely is interested in what they are doing. Raymond T. • 37. Substrate Concentration Lab Report Our group performed the test of decreasing the substrate concentration in the catalyzed reaction decomposing hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen gas. For our baseline, we set up a reaction using 10 ml 3% hydrogen peroxide (the substrate) and 1 ml yeast (the catalyst). We then calculated the reaction rate to be 0.09375 ml/sec of oxygen produced. This reading is based off of the initial part of the curve, before the plateau. Once the rate decreases in the data too much peroxide has been used up to retain a steady reaction rate, so it is not reliable data for use in calculating the true rate. At this point we hypothesized that a lower rate would be observed for lesser concentration of substrate because there would be fewer molecules and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An increase in temperature means that the molecules are moving much more quickly, so there are more interactions between molecules. This increases probability of molecules colliding with the correct orientation and with sufficient energy to cause a reaction. There are, however, factors working against this hypothesis. Enzymes, which serve as catalysts, significantly increase the rate of a reaction by lowering its activation energy. As temperature increases, catalysts can become denatured, where the protein unfolds beyond repair. Denaturation yields the proteins useless, so that would be expected to decrease the reaction rate. Denaturation also can take place if the proteins become too cold. The true test in this experimentation is of whether the increase in temperature damages the catalysts. If the catalysts remain intact and can still facilitate reactions, the reaction rate is most likely to increase or decrease with an increase or decrease in temperature, respectively. As projected, the reaction with the increased temperature did in fact proceed the fastest, meaning the most water vapor was collected initially. When temperature decreased, the rate stayed mostly the same. Since we did not carry out this experiment, we are forced to guess at the cause of this. One possible option is that the temperature was not altered enough to effect catalyst or the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Gertrude Stein Analysis Stein s life and the impact on her art The author of this poem, Gertrude Stein, was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, and she is the youngest of five children. This prestigious modernist writer came from a family of wealthy German Jewish immigrants, who unfortunately passed away. Her mother died of cancer in 1888, and her father, a wealthy and known merchant, passed in 1891. When Gertrude was still a young child, her family moved from Pennsylvania and went back to Europe. Stein spent her first years in Vienna and later in Paris. In the year of 1879, she went back to America, and settled in Oakland, California. Her brother Leo is one of her greatest influences. Since, of all brothers, they are the closest, when he decided to leave Baltimore to enroll at Harvard, Stein decide to come along with no sign of hesitation. Because of Harvard s policy to not allow women, Stein enrolled at the Harvard Annex, the precursor to Radcliffe College, where she studied psychology for four years. Because of her interest in the subject, Stein decided to pursue the field and went to medical school, where she began to study at Johns Hopkins in the fall of 1897. With time her eagerness declined, and her grades dropped. She had a history of depression, as you can see in her writing from the time, alongside with the disappointment in her studies. This was not exclusive to this mission as many of the padres from the Geiger and Meighan reading said that the natives had an inclination toward music. This enthusiasm for music gave the padres an opportunity to use this to their advantage as the natives would be more willing to learn and adopt European music compared to other European ways. But even with this seemingly perfect opportunity, the padres faced many difficulties in simply teaching the natives even though all of them had studied music and sung in choirs prior to coming to the New World. We saw that this reacted too quickly as we used 10 second intervals and we couldn t get 6 results this is because our burette could only hold 100cm³ of water, which would make our results reliable. A visionary light settled in her eyes, she saw the streak as vast swinging bridge extending upward from the earth through a field of living fire: upon it a vast horde of souls were rumbling towards heaven. There were whole companies of white trash, clean for the first time in their lives, and bands of black niggers in white robes and battalions of freaks and lunatics shouting, clapping, and leaping like frogs. And bringing up the end of the procession was a tribe of people whom she recognized at once as those who, like herself and Claud, had always had a little of everything and the God given wit to use it right. She leaned forward to observe them closer. They were marching behind the others, with great dignity; accountable as they had always been for good order and common sense. They alone were on key (331). Yet she could see by their shocked and altered faces that even their virtues were being burned away (332). The Spenserian Sonnet inherited the tradition of the declamatory couplet of Wyatt / Surrey although Spenser used Sicilian quatrains to develop a metaphor, conflict, idea or question logically, with the declamatory couplet resolving it. As I have come to learn, theme is much more than a distilled retelling of a story. Theme gives a story a deeper meaning. The introduction of cold allows the reader to understand that the journey has come to an end and is irreversible. Character also builds theme in a story. According to our text when looking at how characters shape theme you should ask how do characters make a particular aspect of the underlying area clear? (Clugston, R 2010) This is a good place to start when looking at Rhys story. The author used the characters thoughts and feeling to unfold the symbols in the story. The author also did not give a physical description on the woman, this adds to furthering the theme of the journey in the story. The woman is no longer a live and therefore she doesn t need a body. It is clear from the symbols pointed out by the woman that she is leading us on this journey. As the character reaches the end her journey, we as the reader does as well. Rhys layers the symbols at the end of the story so the reader begins to rapidly connect the dots in there meaning. Running Head: Theme page 3 References Bain,T.
