Deduction Vs Deductive Reasoning
Induction and deduction are pervasive elements in critical thinking. They are also somewhat
misunderstood terms. Arguments based on experience or observation are best expressed inductively,
while arguments based on laws or rules are best expressed deductively. Most arguments are mainly
inductive. In fact, inductive reasoning usually comes much more naturally to us than deductive
reasoning. Deductive reasoning that is based on a general statement of fact is hard to argue with.
When using this method, you begin with a factual statement that describes a class of things, such as
animals. In deductive inference, we hold a theory and based on it we make a prediction of its
consequences. That is, we predict what the observations should be if the ... Show more content on

Once this step has been completed, the next step involves coding the data for statistical analysis in
which the results are supported with theories. The important item that makes inductive profiling more
robust than deductive profiling is, through research observable patterns in the data can be found that
lead to new theories. Rather than being stagnated with held views of behavior, inductive profiling is
like a revolving door researchers are always striving to look for emerging patterns in crime data,
which leads to new ways to assist

Symptoms And Treatments Of A Stroke
According to the Center of Disease Control Stroke is a leading cause of death in the United States,
killing nearly 130,000 Americans each year that s 1 of every 20 deaths. America s population is
around 320 million according to government census. The statistics of 130,000 may not seem like a lot
compared to America s population, but clearly it is a significant amount. This statistic only counts the
stroke victims that die, but many stroke victims survive with few as well as major issues leading to a
compromised life after. So what is a stroke? A stroke also known as Cerebrovascular accident (CVA)
happens when there is a loss of blood supply to the brain. In the following we will be looking at the
history of the disease, suspected causes, symptoms and treatments. Before we go into the history of a
stroke take some time to look at the population chart in the back (pg. 8 image. 1) to see where strokes
occur most. As you can see, the chart shows statistics of where strokes occur most and least around the
U.S. and the number varies per 100,000 in the U.S. At this time there is no correlation between
location and stroke numbers. Though by looking at the Stroke Death Rates around the country clearly
wherever you live there is no place or person that is immune from the possibility of getting a stroke.
So what is a stroke? A stroke according to the Saladin Anatomy and Physiology text book is the
sudden death of brain tissue caused by ischemia. Ischemia is a lack of

Threat of Hackers on the Internet Essay
Research Critique The ability of the attackers to rapidly gain control of vast number of Internet hosts
poses an immense threat to the overall security of the Internet (Staniford, Paxson Weaver, 2002). Once
compromised, these hosts can not only be used for massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS)
attacks, but also steal or corrupt great quantities of sensitive information by confusing and disrupting
the network in more subtle ways (Honeynet, 2005). The attackers accomplish this task by sending an
intrusion agent commonly known as ‘worm . There are two major types of malicious codes in the
wild (Todd, 2003, pp. 2). These codes are differentiated by their means of propagation: worms are self

First article that discussed self replicating code within a C compiler appeared in 1984 by Thompson.
Morris worm was launched in 1988, which had a devastating effect on the Internet (Todd, 2003). Most
research conducted so far has focused on modeling and detection of the Internet worm propagation.
However, the final objective of the research is containment and elimination of these worms, which has
not received enough research (Zheng Duan). This paper discusses the possible future network attack
which will probably use an organized army of malicious nodes called malnets. These malnets are
capable of delivering many different types of attacks. According to several researchers who are
working on finding out how the malicious worms propagate on the internet the ground has already
been set (Honeynet, 2005; Zheng Duan; Geer, 2005; Staniford, Paxson Weaver, 2002). However,
partly due to the lack of understanding of the resiliency and efficiency a malnet can have, countering
malnets has been ineffective (Li, Ehrenkranz Kuenning, 2005). Placement of the article in the

topic both in security of the Internet and how distributed systems of malicious bots work it can be

Sexuality And Selection Research Paper
Sexuality Selection
In order to create the next generation of a population, survival is not enough. Individuals must also
reproduce. Around 90% of species reproduce sexually, which means male and female of a specie
match. Darwin defined this as sexual selection.
Darwin stated that sexual selection worked mainly in two ways: COMBAT OR DISPLAY, the first
process is about members of the same sex fighting one another to attract the other sex attention; the
second process, which is called display, is about members of one sex, choosing members from the
other sex.
Combat leads to larger and stronger males, males that outstand from the rest of the population. This
also apply to Human. Darwin states that mate selection is of women by men, not the

Comparing Iago And Othello

The Honorable Murderer
Iago and Othello, as military figures, have shown courage in combat and are respected members of
their community. In the end though, each of them kills his wife in a fit of rage. It would be easy to
view both of them in the role of a villain. Both men are deeply flawed; however, Iago is the true
villain. He enjoys his evil actions. Othello, while allowing jealousy to consume him, is the tragic hero
of the story.
Othello was raised in and around the military. From the tender age of seven he served as a solider.
During the 16th century, mercenary armies were primarily made up of foreigners. Mercenaries were
often recruited from the economically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We also disapprove of his arrogance in describing himself as an honourable murderer, (690) as this
suggests that he doesn t fully accept responsibility for his actions. However, we can feel his pain and
sorrow as he cries out cold, cold, my girl (691). Our view of Othello is changed by how we last see
him. For most of the play, we view him as the hero. We are rooting for him to figure out he is being
lied to and manipulated. Othello s fall should not have happened. It is truly tragic that his reputation,
his wife, and his life s work are consumed by a fit of jealous rage. His accomplishments rendered
worthless as he takes his own life. He is very aware of what he has lost confessing he threw a pearl
away richer than all his tribe (690). Othello, the hero of Venice, loses the battle being waged against

Character Analysis Of The Last Airbender
The only thing I can really say about The Last Airbender is this: Epic Fail. Paramount Pictures gave
M. Night Shyamalan $150 million dollars to adapt the popular Nickolodeon cartoon for the big screen.
What they got is an absolute mess of a movie, complete with poor acting, the most hackneyed script
ever, and a last minute conversion to 3 D that only serves to destroys what was possibly some lush
cinematography. Airbender makes a determined effort. It is nigh impossible to find anything right with
Airbender. The story is ridiculously complex. In a world where people can manipulate (bend) the four
elements of air, earth, fire and water, depending on their tribal affiliation, there exists a being (the
Avatar) who can manipulate all four. This person is also the sole being capable of communing the the
spirit world which serves to keep things in balance. This being went missing 100 years ago, only to be
found in a giant ice sphere by two children of the water tribe. In the 100 years the Avatar has been
gone, the Fire tribe has begun conquering the others, though we re never really told why. The
disgraced Prince Zuko (Dev Patel) of the Fire tribe wants to the Avatar so he can return to his family.
The Water children need to save the Avatar to ensure the Fire people don t win. For this point on it
becomes to silly to try and summarize. Shyamalan succumbs to his own hubris, loading the film with
long, boring exposition communicated through long, boring speeches that I m sure were

Simple Man
The Life of a Simple Man was written by Emile Guillaumin, a former peasant going through many
changes in the 19th century Europe. He wrote about a peasant boy living in France just fifty years
before him. The book itself is based on Guillaumin s own experience being a peasant in France. At the
time the book was written which was about 1900s, he felt that the French peasants were not being
recognized in the extent contemporary literature was being produced. Around this time, the
industrialization of Europe was accelerating; there were many changes that were occurring, including
the mixing of cities with factories and the agriculture industry in rural areas. This change gave
Guillaumin the ability to write about a milestone about the differences in people and their lively
hoods. A milestone which consisted in seeing the changes of people s lives as new work arose and new
opportunities for what was thought of a better life. Guillaumin writes an excellent inside into
understanding how the nineteenth century French peasants lived. Here, this essay is mainly focused on
a couple of aspects regarding the book by Emile Guillaumin: The Life of a Simple Man. The first is

A Reflection Of Dealing In A Patient Note Writing
I came in today feeling slightly defeated from yesterday. I love Jamie s training approach, it matches
my learning style perfectly. Jamie tries to let me do more and more things on my own. One thing I ve
been struggling with is writing the patient note in a SOAP format. I believe the reason I have been
struggling is because she stands over me and feeds me what to type. When she puts me on the spot and
gives the instruction to compose the note in my own words, Jamie always corrects me and has me put
the note in her own words. This has been having an effect on my confidence level. Consequently, why
I came into today feeling defeated. I planned to say something since I was not progressing on the
patient note writing, but I wonder if Jamie picked up on the same thing. Today, Jamie stepped away
and let me think it through on my own. This worked out so much better. I still have a lot of work left
to perfect these patient notes, but at least now the notes are in my own words and I m having an easier
time listening to the patient and knowing what I need to include in their assessment, screening, and/or
discharge note. The defeated feeling quickly dissipated and I felt more confident about describing the
interactions with patients. What I learned from the situation was to say something sooner instead of
allowing my confidence to take a hit. In addition, it also taught me something about myself as a trainer
in my current job and in future positions. I get like Jamie,

Bias In 12 Angry Men
The movie 12 Angry Men, directed by Sidney Lumet, introduces twelve jury members each one
coming from a different background. The experiences and personalities of these men play a critical
element in the first majority vote in deciding the verdict of guilty or not guilty. Juror #3, #10, and #11
were very influential in that their opinions and thoughts on the case were determined by their own
personal bias. Therefore, a person s behavior, opinions, and thoughts are reflected on how that person
feels on the inside. Juror #3 is against the boy that is being tried and very biased towards him; this
results in how he acts during the meeting and what his thoughts are regarding the case. This bias is
due to an argument he had with his own son who punched him in the jaw and ran away from home: I

I hate tough kids! You work your heart out. We can get a lot from this juror in that he condemns
teenagers and has resentment towards them. Since the boy was born and raised in the bad part of the
city, it gave Juror #3 more reason to vote guilty because he is biased against people who live in the
slums. Juror #10 divides and segregates people stereotypically into them and us . Us being middle
class or rich people living in the city, and them being poor people or of a different skin color or race,
born and raised in the slums. Since the boy lived in such a place he was obviously a victim to violence
and crime so, Juror #10 was biased against him from the beginning. Also, the boy being Hispanic
placed him on the discriminatory list of what makes a criminal. This is further proven when juror #10
says: They don t need any real big reason to kill someone, either. You know, they get drunk, and bang,
someone s lying in the gutter... most of them, it s like they have no feelings. Because he believes all of
this, this juror is second to last in changing his vote. Juror #11 is from Europe and has faced injustice

INTRODUCTION
In today s economy, firms are no longer the center of business. In order to survive, companies need to
acknowledge the fact that business now revolves around customers
(Keith, 1960). As a result, marketing becomes one of the most prominent philosophies in business.
Therefore, to get a better understanding of today s business, this essay will be discussing about three
important concepts. These concepts are marketing as a business philosophy, the understanding of
customer value, followed by the link between marketing and customer value. In addition, this essay

CUSTOMER VALUE
Zeithaml (1988, as cited in Smith Colgate, 2007, p. 8) defined customer value as being what
customers get from the purchase and use of a product versus what they pay. According to Drucker
(1999), customer value determines what the business will produce and whether it will prosper or not.
Clearly, customers will prefer to consume the product that offers them most benefits with least costs
possible.
Based on their researches, Smith and Colgate (2007) proposed four major values of customer that
applicable to consumer and to customer value creation strategy.
According to Smith and Colgate (2007), functional value is concerned about the purpose and
usefulness of a product. Experiential value is concerned with the customers feelings created by the
product whereas symbolic value is concerned about the psychological meaning of a product to
customers. On the other hand, cost is related to the both direct and indirect costs of using the product.
The following table shows customer value creation strategy with Village Gold Class

Questions On Criminal Procedure Code
4.12 Section 433 Criminal Procedure Code Power to commute sentence
Referring, to pardon it means to forgive a person of his offence. The word pardon has been defined as
an act of grace, advancing from the power assigned with the execution of the law, which excuses the
individual on whom it is conferred upon, from the punishment the law imposes for a crime he has
committed. It affects both the punishment proposed for the offence and the guilt of the offender.
In other words, grant of pardon wipes off the guilt of accused and brings him to the original position
of innocence as if he had never committed the offence for which he was charged. Under Indian law,
the President of India and the Governors of States have been given the power to grant pardons,
reprieves, respites or remissions of punishment or to suspend, remit or commute the sentence. The law
governing grant of pardon is contained in Articles 72 and 161 of the Constitution.
4.12(1) Granting of pardon may be of two kinds.
Absolute
Absolute pardon may mark out the guilt itself. It does not lead to an acquittal unless the Court directs.
The accused is discharged permanently without demanding any condition to be fulfilled.
Conditional
In conditional pardon, the offender is let off subject to certain conditions. The violation of these
conditions will lead to renewal of his sentence and he shall be exposed to the unexhausted portion of
his punishment.

Comparing The Bell Jar And The Catcher In The R
The Bell Jar is a partly fictionalized autobiographical account of author Sylvia Plath s life. Plath,
personified as Esther Greenwood details the inequality and expectations of a young woman in 1950s
American society on her journey to find purpose. The Bell Jar holds many similarities to J. D. Salinger
s The Catcher in the Rye, both detailing the difficulties of growing up and all that comes along with it,
with The Bell Jar specifically exploring a more feminine side of adolescence. Themes of women s
rights in The Bell Jar are documented in depth by Plath throughout the novel holding relevance to the
context of the novel s setting as well as the current day state of women s rights. These key ideas are

Buddy immortalizes everything that the atypical breadwinning man of the 1950s was masculine,
religious, attractive and promising in his studies. The mistreatment of women in 1950s era America is
embodied in Buddy s views on Esther s own ambitions of being a famous poet or a brilliant professor.
Buddy dismisses her, saying in a sinister, knowing way that after I [Esther] had children I would feel
differently, I wouldn t want to write poems any more. Under the guise of the perfect man withdraws
his true bigoted attitude. The subversion, almost mockery of Esther s goals serves as an observation of
the truly smug prick Buddy is, carrying a bloated self importance and complete disregard for Esther s
own aspirations. Buddy s ignorant persona has been purposefully crafted by Plath as a personification
of society s own attitudes toward women. The underminement of female capability can be attributed to
influence of the patriarcal hand alike that of Buddy on Esther, but to a larger scale. This attitude as a
result has been ingrained in our own society s cultures. As a female student, I can see the clear
gendered divide because of the lack of positive expectations put on youth. I can identify the favouring
of males in certain educational courses or jobs, as well as the conventional roles placed on women

Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha goes off on a journey to find inner peace. Throughout his expedition, he

Eventually, Siddhartha worked his way up to become one of the wealthiest people in the town.
Unfortunately, the price for his riches was his ethics. Siddhartha adapted to the environment round
him and he lost any enlightenment he ever had and became part of the Child People , which is what
Siddhartha called anything that was lost in the trace of regular lifestyle. He became so dissatisfied
with his life, not understanding why. He had all anyone could ask for right. He had a money and a
beautiful woman who was now teaching him the ways of love. Then he realized why his life was so
problematic at the time. He was dependent on only materialist items and ideas. This whole world of
Kamaswami people had been but a game to him, a dance that one goes to see, a comedy. (Hesse 67)
Siddhartha started to think that his life at the time was a joke; all the items he had would never have
any sentimental value to him. Even Kamala, who he was supposed to love, never really had a
connection. He repeated prior mistake of believing that someone can teach a feeling. As Siddhartha

Analysis Of Theresa Hak Kyung Cha
Before her untimely death at the age of 31, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha was a promising innovator of
experimental film, slide projections, sculpture, audio recordings, performance art, and poetry. Her
work challenges assumptions about history, narrative, language, and in particular conceptions of
immigrants; through powerful and often dislocating ideological and grammatical in derogations of
cultural, geographic, and social positions, she recuperates an alternative sense of self and identity in a
postcolonial, feminist, racially marked world. Her experiments with the sense of displacement and
fragmentation mark an important stage in postmodernist, multicultural, and feminist writing. By
addressing, resisting, and reconstructing an alternative idea

The United States And Soviet Union Essay
The 1980 s were a dynamic time in the life cycle of the Cold War. The early portion of this decade,
which saw massive shifts in the administrations of the United States and Soviet Union, maintained an
atmosphere of suspicion, wariness, and skepticism. This theme of uncertainty and caution was the
logical product of decades of both American and Soviet duplicity, confrontation, and militarization.
Yet, despite this mistrust between the polar Cold War belligerents, and contrary to the early rhetoric of
the Reagan administration, the United States and Soviet Union modified their perceptions of each
other s intentions following 1985 s Reykjavik Summit, which, despite producing no tangible results,
established common desire for arms reduction and a conclusion of the Cold War. This warming of
relations, however, increased at a gradual rate and encountered significant hurdles as the two nations
attempted to limit the potential for thermonuclear war. Ultimately, Ronald Reagan and Mikhail
Gorbachev s dialogue of the eyes transitioned from one administration to the next, while also
weathering significant domestic pressures as the United Soviet Socialist Republic disintegrated.
Doubt and insecurity largely characterized the Cold War in the late 1970s and early stages of the
Reagan presidency. Following the rise and fall of détente, the collapse of the Nixon administration,
and the expansion of alarmist groups such as the Committee on the Present Danger, the Soviet Union

A Successful Analysis Of Data Using Ancova
A successful analysis of data using ANCOVA is dependent on assumptions that relate to the study
design, namely, a continuous dependent variable, a categorical independent variable with two or more
independent groups, a continuous covariate variable, and the need for independence of observation
(Field, 2012). Other assumptions are presented during the course of the SPSS analysis to ensure data
does not violate assumptions, even though there is some leeway for violation of certain assumptions.
For the analysis, time spent stalking after therapy (stalker2) was the dependent variable, the
intervention group (cognitive behavior therapy contrasted with psychodynamic therapy) was the
independent variable, and time spent before therapy (stalker1) was the covariate to control for
incoming behavior. Two study designs are associated with ANCOVA pre post study designs and
condensing the outcome of inappropriate variable, but only after the preliminary assumptions have
been satisfied (Huitema, 2011). The Stalker.sav data was appropriate for measuring the same
dependable variable in two or more unrelated independent groups over two points; hence the pre post
study design. Linearity Assumption There was a linear relationship between the time spent stalking
before therapy (pre) and the time spent stalking after therapy (post) for each intervention type, as
evidenced by the scatterplot below. Testing for Normality From the Tests of Normality table below,

The coming of the Portuguese to the East African coast in the late 1490s marked the start of the long
lasting ties with the West. These ties continued to grow during both the colonial and postcolonial
period. The earliest Muslim to settle in Kenya came from present day Oman, Yemen, and Iran. By the
8th century they had settled on Pate Island in Coast Province among whom were sayyids, descendants
of the Prophet Mohammad who settled in Lamu (Martin,1976). the the trade in the Indian ocean

religious beliefs with Lamu and Mombasa becoming the primary areas of Islamic learning and

Jane Eyre By Charlotte Bronte
Following the experiences of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte, expresses many elements of gothic
literature throughout her novel Jane Eyre. In her perfect understanding of gothic literature, she
expresses the three types of evil commonly found in gothic literature, including the evil of the
supernatural, the evil within or the instinctual evil motives of humans, and lastly, the evil because of
societal influence. Jane Eyre experiences all of these three evils with her aunt and three cousins with
her residency and return to Gateshead: Jane encounters the supernatural and the evil of societal
influence as a child and she fully encounters the evil within upon her return.
As a child at Gateshead, one discovers the first form of evil in the novel with the negative interactions
between Jane and her relatives, which sparks from both, physical inferiority, (Bronte 11) to her
cousins, and as Bronte eventually states, her lack of money. Doing rather short work, the reader
discovers Jane does not belong in Gateshead with her rich Aunt, Mrs. Reed, and her cousins, John,
Georgina, and Eliza. Jane s three cousins cluster, around their mamma, (Bronte 11) in the opening of
the novel, but Jane sits in solitary. She leaves to ask her aunt, What does Bessie say I have done?
(Bronte 11); her aunt responds she likes children, who do not take up their elders, and Bronte implies,
she likes good children, which becomes surprising with Jane s cousins later actions. As Mrs. Reed

has abandoned federal economic development programs, it is still an essential element for states and

Because he possesses many tragic characteristics, the audience can classify Jason as the tragic hero of
the play. For example, the misjudgment of his action to leave Medea and abandon his oath of marriage
to her resulted in a devastating sequence of events for Jason. Jason exhibits a role of nobility, but it is
his desire to secure that nobility by marrying King Creon s daughter and leaving Medea that causes his
suffering in the end. He was presented with the decision to stay with Medea or pursue his want for
prestige and power. In addition to the presence of a tragic hero, Medea reveals tragic circumstances
throughout by mentioning Jason and Medea s past filled with betrayal and the murder of Medea s
brother as well as the death of King Pelias. These tragic events continued with Medea s successful
murder of Glause and in turn King Creon, and it concluded with the murder of her own sons. The
many murders are irretrievable, another category that classifies this play as a tragedy. Lastly, because
Jason somewhat accepts responsibility of the tragic circumstances enforced by Medea, the play

Compare Electronic Mediated and Face to Face Communication Communication is evolving quickly,
offering us more options than ever before. Cellphone calls, texting via short messaging (SMS), Skype,

how people communicate with others around the world. Despite how I may fee, face to face
communication is the best way to communicate with people because a lot of things won t get taken out
of context and their won t be any misunderstanding.
People are now connected electronically to 24 hour news cycles, updates on all the movements and

some counselors now offer group sessions via chat, or provide treatment via instant messaging and

changed how we communicate with others and has had an equal amount of problems related to
misinterpretation.

He might also present a biased decision because he thinks Gwen is a great counselor and does not
want to see her quit, which could be the best thing for Gwen s well being. There was another way of
dealing with this situation. Ken should have referred Gwen to another therapist to work on her
problems and let her decide what the best path to choose is. He should have respected the professional
boundaries of his career and known that the situation he was entering was potentially unethical.
Extending the boundary beyond supervision can complicate the supervisory relationship. The same
types of ethical issues still apply, if Ken had recommended to Gwen that she temporarily discontinue
her field placement, and enter therapy in his private practice. He still has the establishment of the
supervisor supervisee relationship with Gwen; it is just temporarily on hold. It still creates a dual

Essay Building Rail to Last
A railroad is like a lie, you have to keep building it to make it stand. Mark Twain Sustainability, the
ability to create an enduring system, is a critical factor in the evaluation of an industry. The health of
the transportation industry and specifically the railroad industry depends on the industry s ability to
sustain its business model in the face of resource challenges. A key driver of rail sustainability is the
infrastructure, the rails, switches, yards and turnouts that the railroad industry uses when moving
goods from source to destination. Both the government and the individual railroads are investing
heavily in infrastructure projects, and have chosen different targets for improving the health of the
railroad system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The passage of the Rail Passenger Service Act in 1970 led to the formation of the National Railroad
Passenger Corporation (Amtrak), and the railroads were given the opportunity to divest their
passenger rail service and focus on freight service. A second boon to the railroad industry occurred in
1980 with the passage of the Staggers Act. The Staggers Act significantly reduced the ability of the
Interstate Commerce Commission to regulate shipping rates, allowed the railroads to divest
unprofitable lines, and legalized railroad shipper contracts. The combined results of these two major
legislative policy actions were to revive what was a failing railroad industry. In fact, the Government
Accountability Office (GAO) has twice been asked by shippers to investigate freight railroad shipping
rates since the passage of the Staggers Act, in 1999 and 2002. Both times, the GAO found that rates
generally had decreased to a greater extent than rates for shipments without such alternatives. In these
cases, at least, effective regulation resulted in a healthy industry. The freight rail industry in the U.S. is
so healthy now, that a comparison of U.S. freight rates to those in other industrialized nations shows
the U.S. to have the lowest rates in the world, as depicted in the chart above. In order to continue this
trend, however, the country must make

The Role Of Female Circumcision In Western Societies
In Western Societies, such as the United States, women have become more independent both
politically and financially. Yet, in third world countries and patriarchal societies, it is not uncommon to
see women hold subservient roles to men. Many women still follow traditions of the past within their
cultures, such as, female genital mutilation (FGM) or female circumcision a painful surgical procedure
to remove part of the clitoris (or clitoral hood) to suppress female sexuality. Female circumcision is
banned in the United States, as the World Health Organization considers the procedure a violation of
human rights for women and girls ( FGM in the United States ). In a recent case, two physicians and

At first glance, the Malbim would seem to object to the government s ban to FGM. The Malbim
argues that individual freedoms are greater than societal needs. Each individual must pursue his/her
goal of fulfilling the divine purpose, the elevation of the physical through the spiritual. This can be
done through the pursuit of self development and self perfection via Torah observance. If this is the
case, society, according to the Malbim, should help individuals reach moral perfection by giving
support and freedom to individuals. The role of government is to create an environment free from
impediments as much as possible and give the individual the maximum opportunity to pursue good
(Sicker and TanenbaumCHAT 244 245). However, in this case, the doctors are not reaching moral
perfection, as they are violating the Jewish law of bodily mutilation. From a Jewish perspective, these
doctors are straying from self perfection, as this procedure is impeding on the divine purpose. The
Malbim would argue that the government should bring these doctors a step closer to moral perfection,
by banning the practice of FGM on girls. This way, the government would be fulfilling its role of
creating an environment where individuals would be able to reach moral perfection on their own.

OMAHA, Nebraska April 19, 1998. Sport utility vehicles are hot! Sales of the truck like vehicles are
booming in the USA. Once the purview of Jeep, Ford and Jimmy, now virtually every car maker has
entered the fray including Mercedes and Lexus.
And the folks buying these behemoths don t seem deterred by their hefty sticker prices and the 70 s
era gas mileage that comes with them, not to mention a truck like ride. While questions are now being
raised about both their environmental impact and safety, sales continue to soar. The plain fact is, Ute s
are in.
After two years and 300,000 total driving miles in Japan and the US, late last year Toyota began
leasing a sensible sport utility vehicle that offers many of the perceived benefits of the standard Ute,
but with zero tailpipe emissions.

Social Location Paper
Social location greatly impacts why people do what they do. We are all heavily influenced by our
societies, our minds, behaviors, and overall beings are affected by everything that we each experience
and witness since birth. Henslin (2015) defines social location as, the corners in life that people
occupy because of their place in a society (p. 2). This means that different aspects and characteristics
of one s life have placed them into specific groups within their society, which can often affect their
ways of thinking and in turn, their behavior. Being identified with a group can shape one s thoughts on
theirself, and what is expected of them within their society. Some things that in one s mind seem so
normal and expected may be far from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that I experienced due to where I lived and my parent s social class was the fact that I got to
attend a good school district, with updated technology and books. My parents success and lifestyle
were all the reason to me to be hard worker and do well in school. After high school, I took a break in
my education, which set me apart from many others whom I had previously been societally grouped
together with. This was the cause of many judgments against me, which was difficult at times. Society
s idea of normal is to attend college directly after graduating high school, but society s normal wasn t
going to work for me as I had became pregnant right out of high school, and felt the need to focus my
direction on working and making more money in the immediate. While not immediately attending
college caused me to be perceived negatively, working so often caused me to be perceived positively.
The dedication and the money were both perceived well within my personal societal location. Society
definitely has an identity assigned to teenage pregnancy, and often responds in shame rather than
support. It s odd that being a pregnant teenager can be viewed so negatively, but the result being a
young mother is viewed so highly. Society s reactions now upon seeing me with my toddler are
overwhelmingly welcoming and positive, and almost sing praises on the fact that I am young and

Symbolism In A Clean Well-Lighted Place
Peter Mehari
October 19, 2014
English A: Lit SL
Aaron
A Clean, Well Lighted Place The short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway is
about an old man who is sitting alone at night in a café. He is deaf and there are two waiters who are
watching him carefully because if he gets too drunk they know he will not pay. While the old man is
having his drink the whole story mainly revolves around the conversation of the older waiter with the
younger waiter. None of the characters are referred by their names they are known as The Old Man,
The Older Waiter, and The Younger Waiter to the readers. The author conveys the idea of light and
darkness symbolized in the characters and the café.
While in the café when the waiters were speaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The café is seen as a place where people with despair and problem can go to and forget about it. It
represents the opposite of nothingness it s clean and good lighted whereas nothingness is confusing
and dark. When the older waiter describes the nothingness that he is getting into, he says, It was only
that and light was all it needed and a certain cleanness and order (383). The author doesn t really
explain what he means by it but we can assume it is referring to life meaning that life and man are
nothing but light, cleanness and order can be counted as something. If the café is clean and well
lighted hence in the title, despair can be kept away. Another point the older waiter makes about the
café why it needs these specific elements is because he needs the café to be clean and pleasant. You do
not want music. Certainly you do not want music. (382) The most important thing he needed was light
in the café. Light is very important in the café because light removes the darkness. It is like when
people are scared of darkness and all they are looking for is light. When the older waiter has locked up
and was walking off he describes the awful nothingness of life nada y pues nada y nada y pues nada

Industrialization in India
Need for Trend of Industrialization in India
What is Industry?
In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and that promotes
employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities, from farming to manufacturing
and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale, from the local sometimes known as cottage
industry to the multinational or transnational.
In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when that production
is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of industry that is embodied by the notion
of industrialization: the transition to an economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production
of goods by a concentrated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been accompanied by a
growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the CĂŽte d Azur in France; Silicon Valley in
California; and along the M4 motorway, around Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called
Silicon Glen in the UK. The long term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the
speed of the process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management.
Transnational Corporations
Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the rise of the
multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies, which operate in many
countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN)
estimates that investment by transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20
years, largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their countries.
Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of concerns. An enormous
amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of a few controllers, which means that the
countries involved become directly susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The
transfer of assets from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent,
and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries.

Reproducibility In Science Is As Important As Any New...
Reproducibility in science is as important as any new hypothesis or discovery. Currently, many
practitioners believe there is a reproducibility crisis. Despite that scientists conduct sound research,
reproducibility is still very low. In my opinion, irreproducible research should be well considered as a
part of enhanced knowledge since, in part, nature tends to be chaotic and hence irreproducible. Better
controls in the research process, however, can improve comprehension and utility of research results.
Keywords; Research, irreproducibility, application
Introduction
Researchers recognize reproducibility as the core of science and the path to cumulative knowledge

Although irreproducible results may not be readily applicable, it does not necessarily mean that they
are a waste of time, resources or opportunities. Suggestions for enhanced reproducibility are also
highlighted. Insights are mainly biased to natural rather than engineered systems.
The complexity of natural systems
In view of Heisenberg s principle of uncertainty, is it actually possible to reproduce/recapture both
quantity and temporal profile from experiment to experiment or from one individual to another? 19.
Natural systems may have obvious structural and organizational principles. On the other hand, spatial
and temporal interactions between external and internal sub components, them too chaotic11,16 to be
understood by independently studying isolated components. Therefore, depending on the state the
system and the ability of the researcher to isolate and control all confounding factors, many research
results may turn out to be extremely context specific. In proteomic studies, for example, proteins are
extraordinarily sensitive to environmental changes besides variation in sample preparation protocols
and instrumentation 6,19. Proteomic profiles also differ not only from one individual to another but
also from one moment to the next19,20. Yet similar stochastic, unique or rare effects are of crucial
importance in many biological processes. The fact that studies

The Pros And Cons Of Super Power
Many of us since we are little, imagine what it would be like to have super powers. Not only that, but
we also put into consideration which superpower would be the best, and why. Every time someone
asks which super power you think is the best you actually start to carefully list cons and pros in order
to get to the best super power. If I were to choose a super power, which one would I chose? I would
probably choose teleportation, also known as, teletransportation. I would choose this super power
because I could travel wherever I wanted to go. Not only would I be capable of doing that, but also I
would be able to do it without wasting any money. Unless you decide to walk, every other method of
transportation has a cost, but if you have teleportation you would be able to move places in a free way,
and also a lot faster. You could also get there in a matter of seconds. Say for example, you have an
emergency, and you need to get fast somewhere, for instance the hospital, you could simply teleport
there. You would save a lot of time that could probably save your life. ... Show more content on

If you decide to use teleportation a difficulty you may encounter with is the following: you will find
yourself unable to enjoy the trip, for example the car ride to your beach house, the airplane flight to
another country, etc. For some people the trip is what really matters to them, not the destination. Of
course, if you are one of these type of people then you won t think of teleportation as a great super
power. Most people care only about getting somewhere fast and without wasting too much money, if
you are one of these type of people, then you will definitely enjoy this super power. Besides that there
really is no other limit in this great super power. If you compare and contrast the cons and pros it s
pretty obvious that this superpower has a lot more pros than cons, therefore making this a great super

  • 2. Deduction Vs Deductive Reasoning Induction and deduction are pervasive elements in critical thinking. They are also somewhat misunderstood terms. Arguments based on experience or observation are best expressed inductively, while arguments based on laws or rules are best expressed deductively. Most arguments are mainly inductive. In fact, inductive reasoning usually comes much more naturally to us than deductive reasoning. Deductive reasoning that is based on a general statement of fact is hard to argue with. When using this method, you begin with a factual statement that describes a class of things, such as animals. In deductive inference, we hold a theory and based on it we make a prediction of its consequences. That is, we predict what the observations should be if the ... The important item that makes inductive profiling more robust than deductive profiling is, through research observable patterns in the data can be found that lead to new theories. • 4. Symptoms And Treatments Of A Stroke According to the Center of Disease Control Stroke is a leading cause of death in the United States, killing nearly 130,000 Americans each year that s 1 of every 20 deaths. America s population is around 320 million according to government census. The statistics of 130,000 may not seem like a lot compared to America s population, but clearly it is a significant amount. This statistic only counts the stroke victims that die, but many stroke victims survive with few as well as major issues leading to a compromised life after. So what is a stroke? A stroke also known as Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) happens when there is a loss of blood supply to the brain. In the following we will be looking at the history of the disease, suspected causes, symptoms and treatments. Before we go into the history of a stroke take some time to look at the population chart in the back (pg. 8 image. 1) to see where strokes occur most. As you can see, the chart shows statistics of where strokes occur most and least around the U.S. and the number varies per 100,000 in the U.S. At this time there is no correlation between location and stroke numbers. Though by looking at the Stroke Death Rates around the country clearly wherever you live there is no place or person that is immune from the possibility of getting a stroke. So what is a stroke? • 6. Threat of Hackers on the Internet Essay Research Critique The ability of the attackers to rapidly gain control of vast number of Internet hosts poses an immense threat to the overall security of the Internet (Staniford, Paxson Weaver, 2002). Once compromised, these hosts can not only be used for massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, but also steal or corrupt great quantities of sensitive information by confusing and disrupting the network in more subtle ways (Honeynet, 2005). The attackers accomplish this task by sending an intrusion agent commonly known as ‘worm . There are two major types of malicious codes in the wild (Todd, 2003, pp. 2). These codes are differentiated by their means of propagation: worms are self replicating, self propagating, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First article that discussed self replicating code within a C compiler appeared in 1984 by Thompson. Morris worm was launched in 1988, which had a devastating effect on the Internet (Todd, 2003). Most research conducted so far has focused on modeling and detection of the Internet worm propagation. However, the final objective of the research is containment and elimination of these worms, which has not received enough research (Zheng Duan). This paper discusses the possible future network attack which will probably use an organized army of malicious nodes called malnets. These malnets are capable of delivering many different types of attacks. According to several researchers who are working on finding out how the malicious worms propagate on the internet the ground has already been set (Honeynet, 2005; Zheng Duan; Geer, 2005; Staniford, Paxson Weaver, 2002). However, partly due to the lack of understanding of the resiliency and efficiency a malnet can have, countering malnets has been ineffective (Li, Ehrenkranz Kuenning, 2005). Placement of the article in the literature The paper is very recent and appeared in 2005. Since the paper has an interesting and unique topic both in security of the Internet and how distributed systems of malicious bots work it can be considered both as emerging seminal work ... Around 90% of species reproduce sexually, which means male and female of a specie match. Darwin defined this as sexual selection. Darwin stated that sexual selection worked mainly in two ways: COMBAT OR DISPLAY, the first process is about members of the same sex fighting one another to attract the other sex attention; the second process, which is called display, is about members of one sex, choosing members from the other sex. Combat leads to larger and stronger males, males that outstand from the rest of the population. This also apply to Human. Darwin states that mate selection is of women by men, not the ... Comparing Iago And Othello Tobiah Rothlingshofer Dr. Kasee Laster English 1102 April 6, 2015 The Honorable Murderer Iago and Othello, as military figures, have shown courage in combat and are respected members of their community. In the end though, each of them kills his wife in a fit of rage. It would be easy to view both of them in the role of a villain. Both men are deeply flawed; however, Iago is the true villain. He enjoys his evil actions. Othello, while allowing jealousy to consume him, is the tragic hero of the story. Othello was raised in and around the military. It is truly tragic that his reputation, his wife, and his life s work are consumed by a fit of jealous rage. His accomplishments rendered worthless as he takes his own life. • 9. Character Analysis Of The Last Airbender The only thing I can really say about The Last Airbender is this: Epic Fail. Paramount Pictures gave M. Night Shyamalan $150 million dollars to adapt the popular Nickolodeon cartoon for the big screen. What they got is an absolute mess of a movie, complete with poor acting, the most hackneyed script ever, and a last minute conversion to 3 D that only serves to destroys what was possibly some lush cinematography. Airbender makes a determined effort. It is nigh impossible to find anything right with Airbender. The story is ridiculously complex. In a world where people can manipulate (bend) the four elements of air, earth, fire and water, depending on their tribal affiliation, there exists a being (the Avatar) who can manipulate all four. This person is also the sole being capable of communing the the spirit world which serves to keep things in balance. This being went missing 100 years ago, only to be found in a giant ice sphere by two children of the water tribe. In the 100 years the Avatar has been gone, the Fire tribe has begun conquering the others, though we re never really told why. The disgraced Prince Zuko (Dev Patel) of the Fire tribe wants to the Avatar so he can return to his family. The Water children need to save the Avatar to ensure the Fire people don t win. For this point on it becomes to silly to try and summarize. Shyamalan succumbs to his own hubris, loading the film with long, boring exposition communicated through long, boring speeches that I m sure were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He wrote about a peasant boy living in France just fifty years before him. The book itself is based on Guillaumin s own experience being a peasant in France. At the time the book was written which was about 1900s, he felt that the French peasants were not being recognized in the extent contemporary literature was being produced. Around this time, the industrialization of Europe was accelerating; there were many changes that were occurring, including the mixing of cities with factories and the agriculture industry in rural areas. This change gave Guillaumin the ability to write about a milestone about the differences in people and their lively hoods. A milestone which consisted in seeing the changes of people s lives as new work arose and new opportunities for what was thought of a better life. Guillaumin writes an excellent inside into understanding how the nineteenth century French peasants lived. • 11. A Reflection Of Dealing In A Patient Note Writing I came in today feeling slightly defeated from yesterday. I love Jamie s training approach, it matches my learning style perfectly. Jamie tries to let me do more and more things on my own. One thing I ve been struggling with is writing the patient note in a SOAP format. I believe the reason I have been struggling is because she stands over me and feeds me what to type. When she puts me on the spot and gives the instruction to compose the note in my own words, Jamie always corrects me and has me put the note in her own words. This has been having an effect on my confidence level. Consequently, why I came into today feeling defeated. I planned to say something since I was not progressing on the patient note writing, but I wonder if Jamie picked up on the same thing. Today, Jamie stepped away and let me think it through on my own. This worked out so much better. I still have a lot of work left to perfect these patient notes, but at least now the notes are in my own words and I m having an easier time listening to the patient and knowing what I need to include in their assessment, screening, and/or discharge note. The defeated feeling quickly dissipated and I felt more confident about describing the interactions with patients. What I learned from the situation was to say something sooner instead of allowing my confidence to take a hit. In addition, it also taught me something about myself as a trainer in my current job and in future positions. I get like Jamie, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Bias In 12 Angry Men The movie 12 Angry Men, directed by Sidney Lumet, introduces twelve jury members each one coming from a different background. The experiences and personalities of these men play a critical element in the first majority vote in deciding the verdict of guilty or not guilty. Juror #3, #10, and #11 were very influential in that their opinions and thoughts on the case were determined by their own personal bias. Therefore, a person s behavior, opinions, and thoughts are reflected on how that person feels on the inside. Juror #3 is against the boy that is being tried and very biased towards him; this results in how he acts during the meeting and what his thoughts are regarding the case. Juror #10 divides and segregates people stereotypically into them and us . In order to survive, companies need to acknowledge the fact that business now revolves around customers (Keith, 1960). As a result, marketing becomes one of the most prominent philosophies in business. Therefore, to get a better understanding of today s business, this essay will be discussing about three important concepts. As the pioneer of this concept, Village Cinema has successfully embraced the marketing philosophy where business should focus on the customer and to provide what they want. 2 CUSTOMER VALUE Zeithaml (1988, as cited in Smith Colgate, 2007, p. 8) defined customer value as being what customers get from the purchase and use of a product versus what they pay. According to Drucker (1999), customer value determines what the business will produce and whether it will prosper or not. Clearly, customers will prefer to consume the product that offers them most benefits with least costs possible. Based on their researches, Smith and Colgate (2007) proposed four major values of customer that applicable to consumer and to customer value creation strategy. According to Smith and Colgate (2007), functional value is concerned about the purpose and usefulness of a product. Experiential value is concerned with the customers feelings created by the product whereas symbolic value is concerned about the psychological meaning of a product to customers. On the other hand, cost is related to the both direct and indirect costs of using the product. The following table shows customer value creation strategy with Village Gold Class

  • 15. Questions On Criminal Procedure Code 4.12 Section 433 Criminal Procedure Code Power to commute sentence Referring, to pardon it means to forgive a person of his offence. The word pardon has been defined as an act of grace, advancing from the power assigned with the execution of the law, which excuses the individual on whom it is conferred upon, from the punishment the law imposes for a crime he has committed. It affects both the punishment proposed for the offence and the guilt of the offender. In other words, grant of pardon wipes off the guilt of accused and brings him to the original position of innocence as if he had never committed the offence for which he was charged. Under Indian law, the President of India and the Governors of States have been given the power to grant pardons, reprieves, respites or remissions of punishment or to suspend, remit or commute the sentence. The law governing grant of pardon is contained in Articles 72 and 161 of the Constitution. 4.12(1) Granting of pardon may be of two kinds. Absolute Absolute pardon may mark out the guilt itself. It does not lead to an acquittal unless the Court directs. The accused is discharged permanently without demanding any condition to be fulfilled. Conditional In conditional pardon, the offender is let off subject to certain conditions. The violation of these conditions will lead to renewal of his sentence and he shall be exposed to the unexhausted portion of his punishment. 4.12(2) Jurisprudence of Granting pardon The philosophy ... Plath, personified as Esther Greenwood details the inequality and expectations of a young woman in 1950s American society on her journey to find purpose. The Bell Jar holds many similarities to J. D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, both detailing the difficulties of growing up and all that comes along with it, with The Bell Jar specifically exploring a more feminine side of adolescence. Buddy dismisses her, saying in a sinister, knowing way that after I [Esther] had children I would feel differently, I wouldn t want to write poems any more. Tricked into conscription of the Bulgar King s army the exiled Candide is treated as a human punching bag. He wanders away from camp but is captured and given the choice between being beheaded or running the gauntlet thirty six times but is spared by the Burglar King who recognizes that he is simply a clueless scholar. The early portion of this decade, which saw massive shifts in the administrations of the United States and Soviet Union, maintained an atmosphere of suspicion, wariness, and skepticism. This theme of uncertainty and caution was the logical product of decades of both American and Soviet duplicity, confrontation, and militarization. Yet, despite this mistrust between the polar Cold War belligerents, and contrary to the early rhetoric of the Reagan administration, the United States and Soviet Union modified their perceptions of each other s intentions following 1985 s Reykjavik Summit, which, despite producing no tangible results, established common desire for arms reduction and a conclusion of the Cold War. This warming of relations, however, increased at a gradual rate and encountered significant hurdles as the two nations attempted to limit the potential for thermonuclear war. Ultimately, Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev s dialogue of the eyes transitioned from one administration to the next, while also weathering significant domestic pressures as the United Soviet Socialist Republic disintegrated. Doubt and insecurity largely characterized the Cold War in the late 1970s and early stages of the Reagan presidency. • 28. A Successful Analysis Of Data Using Ancova A successful analysis of data using ANCOVA is dependent on assumptions that relate to the study design, namely, a continuous dependent variable, a categorical independent variable with two or more independent groups, a continuous covariate variable, and the need for independence of observation (Field, 2012). Other assumptions are presented during the course of the SPSS analysis to ensure data does not violate assumptions, even though there is some leeway for violation of certain assumptions. For the analysis, time spent stalking after therapy (stalker2) was the dependent variable, the intervention group (cognitive behavior therapy contrasted with psychodynamic therapy) was the independent variable, and time spent before therapy (stalker1) was the covariate to control for incoming behavior. Two study designs are associated with ANCOVA pre post study designs and condensing the outcome of inappropriate variable, but only after the preliminary assumptions have been satisfied (Huitema, 2011). The Stalker.sav data was appropriate for measuring the same dependable variable in two or more unrelated independent groups over two points; hence the pre post study design. In her perfect understanding of gothic literature, she expresses the three types of evil commonly found in gothic literature, including the evil of the supernatural, the evil within or the instinctual evil motives of humans, and lastly, the evil because of societal influence. Jane Eyre experiences all of these three evils with her aunt and three cousins with her residency and return to Gateshead: Jane encounters the supernatural and the evil of societal influence as a child and she fully encounters the evil within upon her return. As a child at Gateshead, one discovers the first form of evil in the novel with the negative interactions between Jane and her relatives, which sparks from both, physical inferiority, (Bronte 11) to her cousins, and as Bronte eventually states, her lack of money. Mark Twain Sustainability, the ability to create an enduring system, is a critical factor in the evaluation of an industry. The health of the transportation industry and specifically the railroad industry depends on the industry s ability to sustain its business model in the face of resource challenges. A key driver of rail sustainability is the infrastructure, the rails, switches, yards and turnouts that the railroad industry uses when moving goods from source to destination. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The passage of the Rail Passenger Service Act in 1970 led to the formation of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak), and the railroads were given the opportunity to divest their passenger rail service and focus on freight service. A second boon to the railroad industry occurred in 1980 with the passage of the Staggers Act. The Staggers Act significantly reduced the ability of the Interstate Commerce Commission to regulate shipping rates, allowed the railroads to divest unprofitable lines, and legalized railroad shipper contracts. The combined results of these two major legislative policy actions were to revive what was a failing railroad industry. In fact, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has twice been asked by shippers to investigate freight railroad shipping rates since the passage of the Staggers Act, in 1999 and 2002. Both times, the GAO found that rates generally had decreased to a greater extent than rates for shipments without such alternatives. In these cases, at least, effective regulation resulted in a healthy industry. Female circumcision is banned in the United States, as the World Health Organization considers the procedure a violation of human rights for women and girls ( FGM in the United States ). In a recent case, two physicians and the wife of one of the doctors have been criminally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first glance, the Malbim would seem to object to the government s ban to FGM. The Malbim argues that individual freedoms are greater than societal needs. Each individual must pursue his/her goal of fulfilling the divine purpose, the elevation of the physical through the spiritual. This can be done through the pursuit of self development and self perfection via Torah observance. If this is the case, society, according to the Malbim, should help individuals reach moral perfection by giving support and freedom to individuals. The role of government is to create an environment free from impediments as much as possible and give the individual the maximum opportunity to pursue good (Sicker and TanenbaumCHAT 244 245). However, in this case, the doctors are not reaching moral perfection, as they are violating the Jewish law of bodily mutilation. From a Jewish perspective, these doctors are straying from self perfection, as this procedure is impeding on the divine purpose. The Malbim would argue that the government should bring these doctors a step closer to moral perfection, by banning the practice of FGM on girls. This way, the government would be fulfilling its role of creating an environment where individuals would be able to reach moral perfection on their own. OMAHA, Nebraska April 19, 1998. Sport utility vehicles are hot! Sales of the truck like vehicles are booming in the USA. Once the purview of Jeep, Ford and Jimmy, now virtually every car maker has entered the fray including Mercedes and Lexus. And the folks buying these behemoths don t seem deterred by their hefty sticker prices and the 70 s era gas mileage that comes with them, not to mention a truck like ride. While questions are now being raised about both their environmental impact and safety, sales continue to soar. The plain fact is, Ute s are in. After two years and 300,000 total driving miles in Japan and the US, late last year Toyota began leasing a sensible sport utility vehicle that offers many of the perceived benefits of the standard Ute, but with zero tailpipe emissions. We are all heavily influenced by our societies, our minds, behaviors, and overall beings are affected by everything that we each experience and witness since birth. Henslin (2015) defines social location as, the corners in life that people occupy because of their place in a society (p. 2). This means that different aspects and characteristics of one s life have placed them into specific groups within their society, which can often affect their ways of thinking and in turn, their behavior. Being identified with a group can shape one s thoughts on theirself, and what is expected of them within their society. Some things that in one s mind seem so normal and expected may be far from ... One thing that I experienced due to where I lived and my parent s social class was the fact that I got to attend a good school district, with updated technology and books. My parents success and lifestyle were all the reason to me to be hard worker and do well in school. After high school, I took a break in my education, which set me apart from many others whom I had previously been societally grouped together with. This was the cause of many judgments against me, which was difficult at times. Society s idea of normal is to attend college directly after graduating high school, but society s normal wasn t going to work for me as I had became pregnant right out of high school, and felt the need to focus my direction on working and making more money in the immediate. While not immediately attending college caused me to be perceived negatively, working so often caused me to be perceived positively. The dedication and the money were both perceived well within my personal societal location. Society definitely has an identity assigned to teenage pregnancy, and often responds in shame rather than support. It s odd that being a pregnant teenager can be viewed so negatively, but the result being a young mother is viewed so highly. Society s reactions now upon seeing me with my toddler are overwhelmingly welcoming and positive, and almost sing praises on the fact that I am young and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Symbolism In A Clean Well-Lighted Place Peter Mehari October 19, 2014 English A: Lit SL Aaron A Clean, Well Lighted Place The short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway is about an old man who is sitting alone at night in a cafĂ©. He is deaf and there are two waiters who are watching him carefully because if he gets too drunk they know he will not pay. While the old man is having his drink the whole story mainly revolves around the conversation of the older waiter with the younger waiter. None of the characters are referred by their names they are known as The Old Man, The Older Waiter, and The Younger Waiter to the readers. The author conveys the idea of light and darkness symbolized in the characters and the cafĂ©. While in the cafĂ© when the waiters were speaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cafĂ© is seen as a place where people with despair and problem can go to and forget about it. It represents the opposite of nothingness it s clean and good lighted whereas nothingness is confusing and dark. When the older waiter describes the nothingness that he is getting into, he says, It was only that and light was all it needed and a certain cleanness and order (383). The author doesn t really explain what he means by it but we can assume it is referring to life meaning that life and man are nothing but light, cleanness and order can be counted as something. If the cafĂ© is clean and well lighted hence in the title, despair can be kept away. Another point the older waiter makes about the cafĂ© why it needs these specific elements is because he needs the cafĂ© to be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not want music. (382) The most important thing he needed was light in the cafĂ©. Light is very important in the cafĂ© because light removes the darkness. It is like when people are scared of darkness and all they are looking for is light. • 48. Industrialization in India Need for Trend of Industrialization in India What is Industry? In its broadest sense, industry is any work that is undertaken for economic gain and that promotes employment. The word may be applied to a wide range of activities, from farming to manufacturing and tourism. It encompasses production at any scale, from the local sometimes known as cottage industry to the multinational or transnational. In a more restricted sense, industry refers to the production of goods, especially when that production is accomplished with machines. It is this limited definition of industry that is embodied by the notion of industrialization: the transition to an economy based on the large scale, machine assisted production of goods by a concentrated, ... Ironically, de industrialization in the three countries mentioned above has been accompanied by a growth in the high tech industries in areas such as the CĂŽte d Azur in France; Silicon Valley in California; and along the M4 motorway, around Cambridge, and in central Scotland the so called Silicon Glen in the UK. The long term impact of de industrialization has yet to be felt. It may be the speed of the process, rather than the process itself, that needs careful management. Transnational Corporations Probably the most significant industrial development since the 1960s has been the rise of the multinational or transnational company. Examples of these companies, which operate in many countries, are Ford, General Motors, IBM, Siemens, and Matsushita Electrical. United Nations (UN) estimates that investment by transnational companies has risen by 13 per cent per year over the last 20 years, largely because more and more governments are accepting these firms into their countries. Nevertheless, the growth of multinational corporations has raised a number of concerns. An enormous amount of production power is concentrated in the hands of a few controllers, which means that the countries involved become directly susceptible to economic changes in other parts of the world. The transfer of assets from one country to another may be difficult for governments to manage or prevent, and there are likely to be disparities in the treatment of different countries. • 49. Reproducibility In Science Is As Important As Any New... Reproducibility in science is as important as any new hypothesis or discovery. Currently, many practitioners believe there is a reproducibility crisis. Despite that scientists conduct sound research, reproducibility is still very low. In my opinion, irreproducible research should be well considered as a part of enhanced knowledge since, in part, nature tends to be chaotic and hence irreproducible. Better controls in the research process, however, can improve comprehension and utility of research results. Natural systems may have obvious structural and organizational principles. On the other hand, spatial and temporal interactions between external and internal sub components, them too chaotic11,16 to be understood by independently studying isolated components. Therefore, depending on the state the system and the ability of the researcher to isolate and control all confounding factors, many research results may turn out to be extremely context specific. In proteomic studies, for example, proteins are extraordinarily sensitive to environmental changes besides variation in sample preparation protocols and instrumentation 6,19. • 50. The Pros And Cons Of Super Power Many of us since we are little, imagine what it would be like to have super powers. Not only that, but we also put into consideration which superpower would be the best, and why. Every time someone asks which super power you think is the best you actually start to carefully list cons and pros in order to get to the best super power. If I were to choose a super power, which one would I chose? I would probably choose teleportation, also known as, teletransportation. I would choose this super power because I could travel wherever I wanted to go. Not only would I be capable of doing that, but also I would be able to do it without wasting any money. Unless you decide to walk, every other method of transportation has a cost, but if you have teleportation you would be able to move places in a free way, and also a lot faster. You could also get there in a matter of seconds. Say for example, you have an emergency, and you need to get fast somewhere, for instance the hospital, you could simply teleport there. You would save a lot of time that could probably save your life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, if you are one of these type of people then you won t think of teleportation as a great super power. Most people care only about getting somewhere fast and without wasting too much money, if you are one of these type of people, then you will definitely enjoy this super power.
