How Did Queen Elizabeth 1 Influence Society
After the death of Queen Mary I, Queen Elizabeth I became the queen of England. The death of Queen
Mary I marked the beginning of a pivotal and exceptional period of history. In 1558, after the
coronation of Queen Elizabeth I, the Elizabethan Era began. Queen Elizabeth governed prosperously
over England for 45 years before dying of blood poisoning. The era is well known for the English
Renaissance that took place during this time period that helped immensely promote the arts and
literature. Religion also transformed from Catholicism to Protestantism because of the decline of
Catholic followers and the reformation of religion. The social aspect of society stayed mostly the
same. The Elizabethan Era is well known as the golden age of England ... Show more content on

One of the main motives for Elizabethan voyages of exploration was to open profitable trading routes.
The places that were to be profitable were in the far eastern areas such as India and China, whose
spices flavored and preserved Europe s meat. (Sommerville) Famous explorers like Francis Drake and
Humphrey Gilbert sought a southeast trade route from England to the far east by land and sea so that
England would be able to directly trade with India and China instead of trading through a middleman.
(Sommerville) While the British were exploring the east, they discovered lands like Africa which was
rich in natural resources. The British finding the resources led them to take over African lands, making
it an imperial country of England. Unfortunately, as time passed, the British stripped the countries
they imperialized of their natural resources and abused and oppressed the native people. Although the
Elizabethan Era is well known for widespread exploration, it, unfortunately, led to the practice of
imperialism and slavery in countries the British took over years

Chinese Footbinding Essay
Chinese Footbinding
In addressing the subject of footbinding, one primary difficulty becomes apparent that much remains
within the realm of the unknowable. Any factual knowledge about the practice may only be drawn
from 19th and 20th century writings, drawings or photographs. In addition, many of these documents
represent a distinctly Western point of view, as they are primarily composed of missionary accounts
and the literature of the various anti footbinding societies.[1] The historical origins of footbinding are
frustratingly vague, although brief textual references suggest that small feet for women were preferred
as early as the Han dynasty. The first documented reference to the actual binding of a foot is from the
court of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gradually became the prevailing style and golden lotus became a synonym for bound feet.[5]
One notable personality who aided in the spread of footbinding was the famed writer and scholar Zhu
Xi (1130 1200 A.D.), whose commentaries on the Confucian classics would form the canon of Neo
Confucianism that would dominate Chinese intellectual and philosophical life for six subsequent
centuries. An ardent advocate of footbinding, he introduced the practice into southern Fuijan in order
to spread Chinese culture and teach proper relations between men and women, greatly influencing
other writers who mention the practice as if it were normal.[6]
Another factor contributing to the difficulty in assigning a point of time and origin to the practice is
that the spread of footbinding was neither standardized in style nor universal in practice.[7] With local
variations in method of binding, desired contours, age of initiation, paraphernalia, rituals (both public
and private), shoe patterns and terminologies, it became impossible for a master narrative to emerge.
Although some girls had their feet bound in the extreme and painful golden lotus style, others had
their feet bound in less contorted manners that merely kept the toes compressed or limited the growth
of the foot without breaking any bones.[8] In some areas and among some social groups, such as the
Hakka in southern China, women s feet were generally not bound and even among the imperial courts

Ap Biology Lab Answers
1. Both answers are correct. There are two different models for substrate binding: lock and key or
induced fit. In the lock and key model, the active site of unbound enzymes fits perfectly with the
complementary shape of its substrate. In the induced fit model, the enzyme changes shape to confirm
to the substrate after binding.
2. If Keq = 1, what is the ∆Go´? 0
If Keq 1, what is the ∆Go´? Negative Exergonic
If Keq 1, what is the ∆Go´? Positive Endergonic
3. How is free energy useful for understanding enzyme function? Free energy is useful for
understanding enzyme function because it is required to initiate the conversion of the reaction to
product. While enzymes do not change the equilibrium of the reaction or the energy difference
between the product and reactant, they do, however, decrease the activation energy and facilitate the
formation of the transition state, speeding up the reaction.
4. What are transition state analogs? Transition state analogs are irreversible enzyme inhibitors that
imitate the transition state but bind firmly to the active site of enzymes. Transition state analogs also
include a class of irreversible inhibitors called suicide inhibitors in which the substrate binds to the
active site of the enzyme, attacking and killing the enzyme.

Describe the difference between the concerted and the sequential model of allosteric regulation. The
concerted model of allosteric regulation entails that all subunits be in an identical state. This model
presupposes that allosteric enzymes have multiple active sites on different polypeptide chains and that
enzymes are able to exist in an active relaxed and an inactive tense state. Once the substrate binds to
the first subunit, all the other effector molecules bound to it instantly assume that state. The sequential
model of allosteric regulation assumes each subunit is individually stabilized into the R state by the

What are the ethical and legal issues at stake in this scenario?
A: Karl has to deal with some ethical and possibly legal issues in the marketing of his game
Breakaway . It is an issue ethically simply because he himself has to find out it is suitable to market a
game that primarily gives its focus on nudity, violence, and gambling. When it comes to legal issues,
is it legal to market these things in foreign countries and on the Internet? This is what he needs come

I mean I know it would be my responsibility. But, there needs to be a limit. Gambling is apart of
society in America. Any time there is an opening in a shopping plaza a gambling place opens up. To
me that shouldn t be the case, because then it can have a lot of people come in and, a lot of times lose
money. It s a good idea and a great way to generate revenue for the company itself, but bad for people
who have a bad habit of gambling. Violence is getting worse as well. Today the world is turning into a
monkey see monkey do society. There a lot of causes of this such as, video games being played, the
things people see on TV or actually see in person. It s actually getting more dangerous. With the media
promoting more and more on what s happening in violence. And no justice is being done about it; it s
letting the young youth have permission towards exactly what they re doing. Which isn t a good sign.
Is marketing sex, violence, and gambling acceptable in other countries if these things do not conflict
with local cultures?
A: Unfortanently yes it is. For example look at the continent of Europe. The have a red light district
system where it is legal to advertise sex in windows. There are streets alone that are dedicated to
prostitutes legally if you are age. I don t think gambling and violence is acceptable. Because they re

The Effect Of Shear Force On The Diameter Of The Rod Essay
Lab # 1 Christian Axios Submitted: October, 4 2016 By: Christian Axios Partner: Coby Bryant
Reviewed by: Connor Shoening Section: 27 I. Abstract: Over the course of the last few weeks my lab
partner and I have conducted tests on different material of metal rods. During this time, we collected
data regarding the stress and strain of the given materials and were able to come up with a report
including statements about the significance and importance of their designated yield strength. II.
Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relation of affect that the shear
force has based on the diameter of the rod. In order to find the double shear stress and since the lab
procedure was based on a shear stress conducted on both sides, we were able to divide our answer by
two for the result. The second part of the lab was to find the mean modulus of rigidity based on the
two weeks of results followed by the calculation of each of the changing variables such as diameter
and material. To get the angle of twist we used the formula: (1) We used this equation along with the
force and displacement data to determine the normal stress of the rod when it was axially loaded. P is
the applied load and A is the cross sectional area of our sample. (2) This next equation was used to
find the strain. This result is calculated in order to find the ratio of the change in length to the original
length. ____ is the amount of

My Hawaii Vacation
When I learned that my family and I would be going to Hawaii, I looked forward to going to the
beach, sightseeing, and the warm weather. I never knew that this vacation would end up teaching me
valuable life lessons. It was the summer of 2014 when I went to Hawaii, and I was so excited because
I love traveling and I had always wanted to go there. There is a six hour time difference which was
hard to get used to because we ended up landing in Hawaii at what would have been four in the
morning in Ohio. Before we landed in Hawaii, the vacation did not start off very well.
When we arrived at the airport in Los Angeles for our connecting flight, we were kept on the plane for
almost an hour, even though our layover was only forty five minutes. We knew we did not have much
time anyways; but after the delay, we thought we would miss the only flight to Hawaii that night.
When we were finally able to get off the plane, a girl around the age of twenty five who was on the
flight was yelling at everyone and trying to push everyone out of the way so she could get out first.
She ended up getting off the plane before us even though she was sitting in the very back. Because of
this, we could not find my brother when we got into the airport. However, the airport security workers
were telling us to just run to the gate. At the gate, we found my brother who was already there talking
to the flight attendant. They ended up having to delay the flight to let us on. I was surprised

The Effect Of Kermadec Arc Volcanic System Between...
Recommended area for further investigation and why
Samples were dredged and analysed from four sites along the Kermadec Arc volcanic system between
Macauley Island in the North to Rumble II West in the South. As a result of chemical of analyses of
the rocks, the two sites recommended for further investigation are in the southern part of the arc where
the Brothers (site 3) and Rumble II West (site 4) volcanoes are located. Both these volcanoes have
large calderas which are associated with hydrothermal activity, and Brothers Volcano has erupted
silicic rocks which are also associated with hydrothermal activity (Nichols, 2009 p271). Hydrothermal
activity and the sulphur rich fluids generated can be a source of sulphide minerals for lead, zinc and
copper.
Rock types found at Brothers Volcano were analysed as dacite and rhyolite, both of which erupt from
silicic magmas. The graphs of major and minor elements for site 3 showed distinctly different values
compared to the other samples, indicating a different magma chemistry at this site. The plot of the
minor trace elements showed high barium levels. Barite is the most common sulphate material
associated with barium and is also commonly sourced in hydrothermal processes along with lead, zinc
and copper. Numerous surveys have discovered active hydrothermal systems and Brothers volcano is
considered to have the most active hydrothermal activity in the Kermadec Arc (Embley et al., 2012)
(Gns.cri.nz, 2015). As described the

There are 75 PCDD congeners, differing in the number and location of chlorine atoms and in the
arrangement of the aromatic rings. They are characterized by their high chemical stability due to the
presence of chlorine atoms. This stability therefore increases with the number of chlorine atoms
present.
They are resistant to biodegradation, and only oxidants such as ozone, ruthenium tetroxide or

Disparities Of The 2014 Reported Burglary And Theft...
This paper analyses the disparities of the 2014 reported burglary and theft statistics between the,
Auckland City District (ACD) and Waitematā District (WD). The statistics are reported by the
National Police Headquarters as of April 2015 (New Zealand Police, 2015). Therefore, Police
reporting practices will be discussed to point out the strengths and weaknesses of the reported data.
Secondly, the Routine Activities and Social Disorganisation theories will be used to provide an
explanation for the differences in recorded burglary and theft statistics. Lastly possible policy
solutions to reduce the amount of crime reported to and recorded by Police will be discussed. As it
appears, burglary and theft offences are higher amongst the Auckland City district than the Waitematā.
These results are consistent with the Routine Activity and Social Disorganisation theories as there are
more suitable targets, less collective efficacy and more incapable guardians within the ACD due to
structural deficiency.
The ACD cover the areas within Herne Bay, Freeman s Bay, St Helier s, Onehunga and Avondale,
including Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands (NZ Police: Police Districts). The Waitematā Police
District includes, New Lynn, the North Shore, Devonport up to Mangawhai and also the motorway
stretch from Bombay Hills to Orewa (NZ Police: Police Districts). According to NZ Police (2015), an
offense is recorded if they believe that an offense has been committed. As of 2014, the recorded

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington Essays
Mr. Smith is portrayed as an honest man with strong opinions. He is the ideal politician in an ideal
society. The film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington depicts a reassuring image that happens to be an
image of the past (Wheeler). However, in today s legislature, people like Mr. Smith are rare due to the
fact that a politician s primary goal is re election. The good of the people may come as another
intention of a politician, but it is always secondary to bringing home the pork. There should be more
people like Mr. Smith because the legislature would be able to make decisions more effectively and

Taylor, a special interest group member, controlled everything Senator Paine did until he finally
decided to change. This denotes the impact that wealth can have in the government. The system is
designed so that things such as pork barreling can pass and sometimes need to pass in order for a law
to go through. This creates a system of lies and corruption, with members of the Senate not looking
out for the national good. Senators are forced to focus on improving their own district because it is all
they can do to ensure re election. The most successful Senators do this because it gains short term
approval from their district and gets them a future vote. This is a method of maintaining their career,
and is something they are in some cases forced to do. If someone like Mr. Smith came in and was
consistently free of corruption, people would vote for him based on his truthfulness. The legislature s

Background And Background Of Social Work Essay
1. Experience, background and/or relationships that have influenced your selection of social work as
your professional career (family, education, employment, diversity experience, volunteer
involvements, and personal characteristics, etc.). The past few years, I have had the opportunity to be
a part of many various non profit internships and AmeriCorps programs, that have opened my eyes to
underlying issues that we oversee. Most of the time talk about war, the economy, money and solutions
to fix the problems, but rarely do we come up with solutions to help foster youths, youths in poverty,
youths in inner cities and in title one schools. In Arizona, alone about 25.2% children alone live in
poverty with some type of family. When looking at statistics like that or working with my students in
title one schools, foster home and inner city schools, I don t see them as statistics, I just see them as
my students. But the funny thing is, we are very quick to judge. We judge how far they will go in
school and in life; based off location, family and school district. We rarely give these kids a chance in
general. Instead we place them in a box, a box in which they can t get out of, push them down the
prison pipeline, because let s be real, we know that s where they belong based off their actions. We
push them down the pipeline, and make them believe that that s their life path and no one or anyone

Rhetorical Strategies In Abigail Adams Letter To John...
Abigail Adams evidently uses rhetorical strategies in a letter to advise her teenage son, John Quincy
Adams, during a voyage to France with his father and his brother. The three of them embarked on this
journey during the Revolutionary War to take care of diplomatic affairs between America and France,
however, J.Q. Adams was reluctant to attend. A. Adams writes a letter to reach out to her son and to
offer her motherly advice. It is clear that she ultimately wishes for her son to embrace the opportunity
he has been given and to expose himself to new situations. The rhetorical strategies A. Adams utilizes

While it is certainly natural for a mother to have a gentle manner towards her child, it is rather
impossible for her compassion throughout the letter to go unnoticed. The first issue A. Adams clarifies
was that if she had thought his apprehensions were supported with proper judgment, she would not
have urged him to join. She seeks to reassure her son that he possesses all of the superior advantages
necessary to succeed and that nature has not been deficient. By offering a sense of comfort, A. Adams
calms her son so that he will put aside his worries and listen to her. Granted, she knows her son is still
young and that it will take years before he finds his understanding opening and daily improving.
Nevertheless, A. Adams attempts to elaborate on her underlying message that it is crucial for a young
man to step out of his comfort zone and to expose himself to unfamiliar experiences. She hopes to
motivate her son to see the benefits of the journey by ensuring that wisdom and penetration are the
fruit of the experience, not the lessons of retirement and leisure. A. Adams offers this piece of advice
to remind her son that he will only obtain wisdom through firsthand lessons. Her benevolent, motherly
tone ultimately serves to convince her son that she is on his side and that she firmly believes he made

Agar Jelly Lab Report
4. EVALUATION AND CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION
The data did support my hypothesis as stating that the larger a cell is, the harder it is for diffusion to
take place as the surface area to volume ratio decreases throughout evidence supported. There is a
pattern in table 5 shows that, the surface area to volume ratio decreases when the agar jelly increases
in size from 1cm to 3cm cube by a ratio of 6 to a ratio of 2, showing that average rate of diffusion
which decreases as the size of the agar increases has a linkage to cells as cells increase in sizes. If a

Social Construction Of Gender And Masculinity
Throughout childhood children are exposed to many factors, which may influence their actions and
attitudes regarding the social construction of gender, specifically masculinity and femininity. Children
s attitudes are influenced by a variety of external sources, but are most strongly influenced by their
home life and parents. Parents are responsible for nurturing and teaching children about multiple
aspects in life, including gender norms; this occurs both consciously and unconsciously. One way
parents pass on their beliefs about gender and gender norms are through the giving of heteronormative
toys. Toys children play with and are exposed to subtly and not so subtly teach gender norms and
mores that are accepted in society; furthermore, the association of color and toy genre reinforce the
social construction of gender and how males are supposed to exhibit masculinity while females exhibit
femininity.
Masculinity and femininity are social constructions based on the biological terms male and female,
respectively. Masculinity is often associated with the terms active, strong, dominant, and not

is learned and initially taught to young children through heteronormative toys.

Food Inseecurity And Marginal Food Security In The United...
By definition, households that are viewed as food secure are able to enjoy a variety of foods without
having any sort of limit, thus proceed to have an active and healthy lifestyle (Gregory Coleman
Jensen, 2017, 5). Those who are food secure have no worries of when their next meal will be. In
contrast, food insecurity is the lack of access to the basic necessity of food due to having low
availability of money and other resources. This issue is also affecting many people today in America.
Food insecurity is currently affecting 21% of families in the United States (Shankar, Rainjade,
Deborah, 2017, 135). There are differences between those who are food secure and those who are food
insecure. There are also varying degrees of those who face low food insecurity and extremely low
food insecurity. As previously stated, those who are food secure have plentiful necessities of food and
do not have any stress of their next meal. These people are characterized by high food security. A
recent sample study of 7,802 people conducted this year back in May, found that 57.7% of adults in
America were food secure (Leung, Tester, and Laraia, 2017, 730). Marginal food security is a step
lower than those who are labeled with high food security, but this type is not classified as severity.
Marginal food security involves homes who sometimes reach anxiety about not having enough food in
the house, but the quality, variety, and quantity of their food intake are not lowered (Gregory

important to front load the information. When you do this, students are better prepared to engage in
the conversations of the classroom, and be able to answer questions regarding the topic. The ultimate
result is that your needier students to feel successful. Being flexible with your lesson plans is
important, especially after gathering information from your classroom and having a firm
understanding of what your students know. Having this information provides you with a clue as to
what you need to spend time on, things that you can quickly touch on, how to group your students,
what organizers you may need or word banks that you can use. If you find that some students are
knowledgeable on the topic, they can be used as the teacher experts in the classrooms. The final part
of this Action Step is to do a post assessment. At this time you can ask the same questions as before or
have them write 3 things they learned on a sticky note as an exit slip. Teachers can use these
assessments to help students who continue to struggle, pinpoint students who learn in a different way,
or even find students who have already mastered the objective and may be ready to be

Essay On The Colosseum
History:
The colosseum was built in 72 C.E. The massive stadium was commissioned by the emperor
Vespasian as a gift for the people. The emperor Nero had built a huge lake all for himself. When Nero
committed suicide and Vespasian became emperor, he drained the lake and and started building the
colosseum over it. This was built over something that was made for one selfish person and built
something for the people to share. It took 8 years to build. Sadly Vespasian died before he could see
the grand opening of the colosseum leaving it to his son Titus to finish his work. Amphitheater means
double theater.
Architecture:
The colosseum was huge as it could comfortably seat 70,000 people. It covers about 6 acres of land
and is 620 feet long, 512 feet wide, and 158 feet tall. It was the tallest and largest building of its time.
It was built from limestone, concrete and volcanic stone. The colosseum has many arches on the
outside and every arch has a statue under it. The statues were of gods and heroes, all made of bronze.
Above all the arches were shields, which were also made of bronze. On top of the roof platform
hundreds of sailors would control a huge awning which protected the spectators from rain and created
shade on hot days. The awning was retractable and masts extended from supports built into the
Colosseum s top. Seating in the Coliseum was determined by group. The best seats were reserved for
the emperor as it had the best view. Behind that was the seating for high

Ups Financial Ratios
In this paragraph I will be discussing the liquidity of UPS, by analyzing the current ratio and quick
ratio. The current ratio lets potential investors see the ability of companies to pay off their short term
liabilities, with their short term assets. It also can tell investors the financial health of the company as
well, so if it is below 1 then the company has problems and can potentially go bankrupt. For UPS the
current ratio is 1.14, which is below the industry average of 1.32. It is still good, since it shows that
UPS is able to pay off their debt with just their short term assets alone; also, that they are good
financial health. Next, is the quick ratio, which lets investors see if a company can meet their short
term obligations, with

Conflict In A Tale Of Two Cities By Charles Dickens And...
As with any historical fiction of work of literature, conflict is a neccesary element in a novel. It is
mainly used to build plot and suspense. A Tale of Two Cities written by Charles Dickens and Ivanhoe
by Sir Walter Scott are both good examples of novels in which conflicts between play an important
role and in this novel it is mainly the struggles between social groups which are of big importance.
There are a lot of differences but also similarities concerning the points of view of the narrators on the
struggles between the social groups. In this essay I will discuss these differences and similarities
between the opinions of Sir Walter Scott and Charles Dickens on social conflicts.
Dickens used the development of a conflict between the French lower class and the French
government and aristocracy to build plot and suspense. The nobility (the government and aristocracy)
is extremely rich and the French lower class are exactly the opposite, very poor. The French lower
class suffered for a long time under the tight rulings and restraints of the French government and
aristocracy. The lives of ignorant French poor people are described by Charles Dickens as horrendous:
And who among the company at Monsignor s reception in that seventeen hundred and eightieth year
of our Lord, coud possibly doubt, that a system rooted in a frizzled hangman, powdered and gold
laced, pumped, and white silk stockinet, would see the very stars out! [›] 1

Training Camp Is A Time For Veteran Guys
In less than 24 hours, the month of July will be here. Which means we are only a few more weeks
away from NFL training camps beginning across the country. Training camp is a time for veteran guys
to get their work in, rookies to get established to the NFL and other players to step up and make a
name for themselves. The 2015 season in the NFL was fun as we saw rookies and two year players
come of age playing prominent roles on their respective teams.
With that being said, can those players who showed up last season become household names in 2016?
Here are five players that will be household names this season:
1. Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson: Johnson burst onto the scene as a third round pick out of
Northern Iowa, giving the Cardinals a true three headed monster at running back with Chris Johnson
and Andre Ellington. Head coach Bruce Arians knew for the Cardinals to be successful they had to
have a formidable rushing attack.
Johnson gave them just that as he made an impact in the Cardinals regular season opener against the
New Orleans Saints, where he only had one reception but made it count as he took it 55 yards for a
touchdown. That was a sign of things to come as the next week against the Chicago Bears, Johnson
had 108 yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Johnson would finish the season with 13 total touchdowns, 581 rushing and 457 receiving yards. He is
a perfect fit for the Cardinals offense and expect more NFL fans to get know about the speedy back

Essay about chorus role in medea
The Chorus influences our response to Medea and her actions in both a positive and negative manner.
The Chorus, a body of approximately fifteen Corinthian women who associate the audience with the
actors, is able to persuade and govern us indirectly through sympathy for what has been done to
Medea, a princess of Colchis and the victim of her husband s betrayal of love for another woman. The
Chorus also lead us to through sympathy for Medea to accept her decision of taking revenge on
princess Glauce and Jason. On the other hand the Corinthian women influence us and our responses
towards Medea negatively by pleading to her when she decides to kill the children later in the story.
A way the Chorus influences our response to have pity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Once the Chorus has explained the wrongs that have been done they accept Medea s decision to seek
revenge on Jason therefore leading us to also accept Medea s decision.
I ll do as you ask. To punish Jason will be just. (Page 25)
Another method the Chorus portrays is by governing or telling us how we should feel in an indirect
manner. In the scene where Medea has reached a dead end and has no where and no one to turn to the
Chorus says.
Medea, poor Medea! Your grief touches our hearts. A wanderer, where can you turn? To what
welcoming house? To what protecting land? How wild with dread and danger is the sea where the
gods have set your course! (Page 28)
The Chorus explains to us that Medea has nothing to lose, that her situation is bleak and in some way
forces us to feel sorry for Medea and to favour her.
After the scene where Medea and Jason argue, the Chorus speaks more of Medea s hopeless situation.
Dragging out an intolerable life in desperate helplessness! That is the most pitiful of all griefs; death is
better. Should such a day come to me I pray for death first. (Page 36)
The group of Corinthian women prefer death rather than exist through Medea s situation. They move
us to pity Medea.
You, Medea, have suffered the most shattering of blows... (Page 37)
Here we are brought to attention that Medea has been dealt the harshest of blows and we agree with
the Chorus words, another example of the Chorus convincingly influences our views.

Trigger Warning
Trigger warnings and the underlying issue In the essay The Coddling of the American Mind , Greg
Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt argue trigger warnings are hindering the learning experience in college.
While this is true it goes farther than just that, there is an epidemic of a certain mentality spreading
across the United States. This mentality is that everyone is deserving of content warnings, whether it
be graphic, on paper, or ideas in a discussion everywhere they go. This is a terrible mentality to have,
because it breeds an underlying issue. The issue at hand is a psychological issue that can be treated
over time. The issue s severity depends on what the person wants a trigger warning for. In the extreme
cases, there are completely unreasonable demands for warnings because it could be too common, there
would be too many warnings, while in other cases it is more reasonable but still should not become the
norm of society. If trigger warnings become the norm for the world it would cause harm to individuals
minds and society. To begin with, what is a trigger warning or content warning? Both trigger warnings
and content warnings can be used in place of one another because they stand for the same thing. A
trigger warning is a warning that means there is a topic or idea that will be discussed or shown
visually that could cause stress to some people. These can range from reasonable topics such as rape,
abuse, or death. Those topics rarely come up in day to day conversations and contain some of the
worst acts a human can do, and it is reasonable to offer trigger warnings for these topics. It is not
acceptable, however, to require these warnings on everyone that talks about these topics. On the other
extreme some people could claim to have been offended at ordinary topics that show up in daily
conversation. A short story in Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt s paper was about a professor,
Francis Schmidt, that had received a suspension from a harmless action. This action was that he
posted a picture of his daughter on Facebook, who happened to be wearing a shirt with a Game of
Thrones quote. A student took this as a threat and complained to the school, how is a trigger warning
supposed to be put on that? This is

Case Study Of London Underground
The company London Underground has managed to survive through partnerships with other
stakeholders to improve the rail transport sector. It is not easy for partnerships and collaborations to
last for long without proper management and leadership in place. By choosing this company as the
case study, it provides answers on how to well sustain partnerships for the good of commuters.
Stakeholders have different expectations and cultures and incorporating them into a general agenda for
a particular company can be quite a challenge. Mechanisms used by the London Underground
company to cement these partnerships can be copied by other companies not only in the rail industry
but other sectors too. This is a plus that needs to be shared by the different industries too. Another
reason for choosing London Underground as a case study was to help understand their financial
system. This looks into sources of financing and how to effectively utilize the available finances for
the good of commuters and workers too. Such a big company must need quite an enormous financial
budget to sustain most of their services. A way as to how they utilize the money allocated to them for
both service provision and staff maintenance could be a great learning tool for other stakeholders. An
inventory system, a proper recording system, and audit plans are key in ensuring financial
management. The study would establish how the company integrates all these factors to achieve

give any information of not belonging. To overcome this, Gau.W.L and Buehrer.D.J[7] introduced the

Drones, that all
INTRODUCTION As a human when we employ power by facts and evidence gathering with all the
tools at our disposal, they can have a significant impact. So then will we use the new technology of
unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, to create power for our stories? First of all we have to try to define
what the word drone encompasses. In the spring 2013 issue of News Media The Law, Lilly Chapa
provided this description: Technically, any aircraft that is controlled remotely is an unmanned aerial
vehicle (UAV), or drone. Most modern drones are controlled by Global Positioning System based
commands programmed through a computer. Drones can cost anywhere from $300 to $5 million and
can be as small as a dinner plate or as large as a Cessna. They can be equipped with a variety of tools,
including cameras, GPS trackers, infrared sensors and weapons [Chapa 2013]

Binge Drinking And The Minimum Legal Drinking Age

Binge Drinking and the Minimum Legal Drinking Age
In the year 1984, President Ronald Reagan enacted a law that increased the minimum drinking Age all
U.S states to 21 years. As a result, it is believed that the mortality rates due to road accidents reduced
from 5,000 in the 80 s to 2, 000 in 2005 (Dean Mooney). However, the issue of binge drinking
remains unsolved with learning institutions having to deal with it every semester. In response to this,
134 college presidents formed the Amethyst Initiative, which is, a proposal allowing persons aged
between 18 and 20 to consume alcoholic drinks Conversely, the Mothers against Drunk Driving
(MADD), which pushed for the enactment of the law in 1984 believes that the Amethyst Initiative is
misplaced. The push for a lower drinking age is a battle between the parental community and the
student fraternity. For the drinking age too be lowered the Amethyst Initiative must compile concrete
research and facts to support its findings. Nonetheless, historical data shows that increase in the
minimum legal drinking age results in a decrease in the amount of deaths. As argued by Barry,
Stellefson and Woosley, the MLDA clearly reduces alcohol consumption and its associated harms (8).
In light of this, one can argue that the minimum drinking age should remain at 21 as lowering it may
cause fatal consequences.
The factors can be broadly classified as internal, such as

William Dean Howells Influence On American Writing
William Dean Howells was an American novelist and critic who significantly influenced the American
society and the literature world in the 19th and 20th century America. Born on March 1st, 1837 in
Ohio, Howells became a writer at a young age. Howells is best known for his realist writings that
focused on depicting the lives of the middle class Americans. His realist novels often depict the social
issues in post Civil War America. Howells is considered as the father of realism and is recognized as a
major American writer who was a contributor to American literature (William Dean Howells). I
believed William Dean Howells should be considered as a major American writer. First, Howells had a
lifetime experience with writings. Influenced by his father who was a journalist, Howells began his
career as a writer at a young age. Although Howells never had much education, his experiences in
writing sharpened his skills. Howells first poem was published in 1852 in the Ohio State Journal

Reflection On Social Justice
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg once said I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what
I can say is that they must change if they are to get better. Injustices can be explained as something
that is not to everybody s benefit, or simply something this is unfair. Going into this class, I did not
know much about social justice or cities in general. After being in it for a short 3 weeks, I have
learned a lot of new material and am excited to learn more. I believe that social justice is a
combination of the opportunities and freedoms within the different socioeconomic classes.

There are two things that immediately come to mind when I think about social justice in the real
world. Education is one. Typically, people are more prone to go to college if their parents or siblings
go to college. Going back to the topic of East Des Moines, East high school is not a school that is
looked well upon. The teachers are underpaid and most of the students do not care about their
education enough to go to class everyday. Knowing this, students from schools like that are less likely
to go on to college and get an education. This then leads to them not getting good jobs and making
enough money to support themselves. I believe that this is an injustice because those students do not
choose to go to schools like that, but they get started off on the wrong foot right from the start. People
look down on them because of the school they go to. The other thing I think about when I hear the
word social justice is Racism. Segregation is something that most people don t think is still a problem,
but unfortunately it is. They view segregation as an unfortunate holdover from a racist past, one that is
fading progressively overtime (Massey 1). African American people that live in rougher
neighborhoods, Chicago for example, are usually in the lower socioeconomic class. Being an African
American in the lower socioeconomic class makes it easy for white people to look down on them.

Social Commentary In Remember The Titans
One of the most common controversial issues in America today is racism. Boaz Yakin, director of
Remember the Titans, brings yet another memorable movie associating with this controversial issue
that has shown to be timeless. Remember the Titans does not only feature terrific performances, but is
also an inspirational film that has a good amount of social commentary. This film follows the lives of
two schools in Alexandria, Virginia in the 1970s. These two schools integrate forming T.C. Williams
High School whose European American head coach is replaced by an African American coach from
North Carolina. The titans now have to overcome two different races coming together to form their

The two main characters, that I would say, on the team were Gerry, played by Ryan Douglas Hurst,
and Julius, played by Wood Hayes. They hated the way each other acted and they would not
acknowledge that the other was even a person. Their different races really affected their relationship.
They were like enemies. They hated the thought of having to play on the same football team. Playing
with your enemies wasn t the ideal situation for them, but they were too determined for the love of the
game that they wouldn t let their other teammates hold them back. After playing together, they started
noticing that their differences were unrecognizable and being teammates resulted in friendship. Gerry
and Julius finally realized that skin color should not hold them back from friendship, or being
teammates. Even though their appearances were different on the outside, they were the same on the
inside and obviously shared interests. They both noticed that they had developed a lot of trust and
respect for one another. They worked together to overcome the racial issues and to heal the conflict.
The quote, Trusting a man s soul rather than their color really comes into play with the relationships
within this movie. Their relationship is now strong and they are built on respect and

Hip Flexor Activity
During mid stance the peak height of the hip is seen to be higher on the prosthetic limb than in a non
amputee. This is a result of the reduced flexion of the prosthetic knee. Also the characteristic of the
prosthetic foot influences the peak height too. After contralateral foot contact an abrupt transition from
hip extension to flexion is seen. In the late stance, an eccentric hip flexor activity is seen as compared
to normal. This inturn generates higher hip flexor moment. This greater moment further decelerates
the extending hip and ensures that the HAT segment does not lag behind as the amputee pulls
themselves over the prosthesis.

The Self Centered, Me Mentality, A Character Flaw That...
A self centered, me mentality, is a character flaw that many Americans struggle with. Consider the
man that was cautioned by his mother to become financially stable in his life before having children.
He did not heed her advice and created three children before completing college. The choices he made
resulted in him working long hours, paying endless amounts of child support, and having no time for a
social life of his own. He chronically complains and while he created his own storm, he got upset
when it rained (Tagore). While some people wisely accept personal responsibility for the situations
they have created due to choices and decisions they chose to make, others are quick to use self
justification methods and therefore lack the ability to take responsibility for their own lives. According
to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, narcissism is an excessive interest in one s self; or self
centeredness arising from failure to distinguish the self from external objects (Merriam Webster.com).
This is a contributing factor of the growing problem of many Americans whom refuse to acknowledge
their unproductive behaviors. If it seems like responsibility shirking is on the rise, it may not be your
imagination. Narcissism has risen 30% among college students since 1979, and studies show their self
confidence is at an all time high (artofmanliness.com). People are very focused on themselves and do
not care about the consequences of their actions. This is causing major

Summary Of The Song Landslide
Landslide, by Fleetwood Mac, is written to show how the removal of a loved one can impact someone
s life negatively or positively. The theme of the song can be found in several lyric such as, Well, I ve
been afraid of changin, cause I ve built my life around you (Fleetwood Mac). It is said that if a couple
thinks that their relationship is not going to work out, it can tumble over at any time. The effects of
shouting out and going for help may seem like a good idea, but it will just bring down the avalanche
right on top of the situation and collapse everything in. In Perks of Being a Wallflower, Charlie
experiences a loss of a close friend (Michael) to a suicide. Charlie has the idea of coping with this
death by writing in letters to his unnamed friend and this is a reason why this is on the mixtape. ...

This song represents the feeling of emptiness throughout life. Through all of Kurt Cobain s life, it was
mostly empty. People are searching for the theme, and that can be found in the lyrics, With the lights
out, it s less dangerous, / Here we are now; entertain us, / I feel stupid and contagious (Nirvana). It is
said that these lyrics show the security and satisfaction after shooting up with heroin. The idea of
drugs and sex is messed up but nothing can entertain a group of young teens. People are trying to
introduce this idea of heroin as an idea that is better than sex, which is almost all that someone can say
after shooting up too many times. Charlie soon finds the lifestyle inside highschool of drug parties,
drama, and nighttime adventures. Charlie is dipped into the 90s music era and this helps cope with
problems that may occur later throughout the

  • 2. How Did Queen Elizabeth 1 Influence Society After the death of Queen Mary I, Queen Elizabeth I became the queen of England. The death of Queen Mary I marked the beginning of a pivotal and exceptional period of history. In 1558, after the coronation of Queen Elizabeth I, the Elizabethan Era began. Queen Elizabeth governed prosperously over England for 45 years before dying of blood poisoning. The era is well known for the English Renaissance that took place during this time period that helped immensely promote the arts and literature. Religion also transformed from Catholicism to Protestantism because of the decline of Catholic followers and the reformation of religion. The social aspect of society stayed mostly the same. One of the main motives for Elizabethan voyages of exploration was to open profitable trading routes. The places that were to be profitable were in the far eastern areas such as India and China, whose spices flavored and preserved Europe s meat. (Sommerville) Famous explorers like Francis Drake and Humphrey Gilbert sought a southeast trade route from England to the far east by land and sea so that England would be able to directly trade with India and China instead of trading through a middleman. (Sommerville) While the British were exploring the east, they discovered lands like Africa which was rich in natural resources. The British finding the resources led them to take over African lands, making it an imperial country of England. Unfortunately, as time passed, the British stripped the countries they imperialized of their natural resources and abused and oppressed the native people. Although the Elizabethan Era is well known for widespread exploration, it, unfortunately, led to the practice of imperialism and slavery in countries the British took over years ... • 3. Chinese Footbinding Essay Chinese Footbinding In addressing the subject of footbinding, one primary difficulty becomes apparent that much remains within the realm of the unknowable. Any factual knowledge about the practice may only be drawn from 19th and 20th century writings, drawings or photographs. In addition, many of these documents represent a distinctly Western point of view, as they are primarily composed of missionary accounts and the literature of the various anti footbinding societies.[1] The historical origins of footbinding are frustratingly vague, although brief textual references suggest that small feet for women were preferred as early as the Han dynasty. The first documented reference to the actual binding of a foot is from the court of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It gradually became the prevailing style and golden lotus became a synonym for bound feet.[5] One notable personality who aided in the spread of footbinding was the famed writer and scholar Zhu Xi (1130 1200 A.D.), whose commentaries on the Confucian classics would form the canon of Neo Confucianism that would dominate Chinese intellectual and philosophical life for six subsequent centuries. An ardent advocate of footbinding, he introduced the practice into southern Fuijan in order to spread Chinese culture and teach proper relations between men and women, greatly influencing other writers who mention the practice as if it were normal.[6] Another factor contributing to the difficulty in assigning a point of time and origin to the practice is that the spread of footbinding was neither standardized in style nor universal in practice.[7] With local variations in method of binding, desired contours, age of initiation, paraphernalia, rituals (both public and private), shoe patterns and terminologies, it became impossible for a master narrative to emerge. Although some girls had their feet bound in the extreme and painful golden lotus style, others had their feet bound in less contorted manners that merely kept the toes compressed or limited the growth of the foot without breaking any bones.[8] In some areas and among some social groups, such as the Hakka in southern China, women s feet were generally not bound and even among the imperial courts of ... In the lock and key model, the active site of unbound enzymes fits perfectly with the complementary shape of its substrate. In the induced fit model, the enzyme changes shape to confirm to the substrate after binding. 2. If Keq = 1, what is the ∆Go´? 0 If Keq 1, what is the ∆Go´? Negative Exergonic If Keq 1, what is the ∆Go´? Positive Endergonic 3. How is free energy useful for understanding enzyme function? Free energy is useful for understanding enzyme function because it is required to initiate the conversion of the reaction to product. While enzymes do not change the equilibrium of the reaction or the energy difference between the product and reactant, they do, however, decrease the activation energy and facilitate the formation of the transition state, speeding up the reaction. 4. What are transition state analogs? Transition state analogs are irreversible enzyme inhibitors that imitate the transition state but bind firmly to the active site of enzymes. Transition state analogs also include a class of irreversible inhibitors called suicide inhibitors in which the substrate binds to the active site of the enzyme, attacking and killing the enzyme. 5. The Effect Of Shear Force On The Diameter Of The Rod Essay Lab # 1 Christian Axios Submitted: October, 4 2016 By: Christian Axios Partner: Coby Bryant Reviewed by: Connor Shoening Section: 27 I. Abstract: Over the course of the last few weeks my lab partner and I have conducted tests on different material of metal rods. During this time, we collected data regarding the stress and strain of the given materials and were able to come up with a report including statements about the significance and importance of their designated yield strength. II. Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to determine the relation of affect that the shear force has based on the diameter of the rod. In order to find the double shear stress and since the lab procedure was based on a shear stress conducted on both sides, we were able to divide our answer by two for the result. The second part of the lab was to find the mean modulus of rigidity based on the two weeks of results followed by the calculation of each of the changing variables such as diameter and material. To get the angle of twist we used the formula: (1) We used this equation along with the force and displacement data to determine the normal stress of the rod when it was axially loaded. P is the applied load and A is the cross sectional area of our sample. (2) This next equation was used to find the strain. This result is calculated in order to find the ratio of the change in length to the original length. ____ is the amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I never knew that this vacation would end up teaching me valuable life lessons. It was the summer of 2014 when I went to Hawaii, and I was so excited because I love traveling and I had always wanted to go there. There is a six hour time difference which was hard to get used to because we ended up landing in Hawaii at what would have been four in the morning in Ohio. Before we landed in Hawaii, the vacation did not start off very well. When we arrived at the airport in Los Angeles for our connecting flight, we were kept on the plane for almost an hour, even though our layover was only forty five minutes. We knew we did not have much time anyways; but after the delay, we thought we would miss the only flight to Hawaii that night. When we were finally able to get off the plane, a girl around the age of twenty five who was on the flight was yelling at everyone and trying to push everyone out of the way so she could get out first. She ended up getting off the plane before us even though she was sitting in the very back. Because of this, we could not find my brother when we got into the airport. This paper analyses the disparities of the 2014 reported burglary and theft statistics between the, Auckland City District (ACD) and Waitematā District (WD). The statistics are reported by the National Police Headquarters as of April 2015 (New Zealand Police, 2015). Therefore, Police reporting practices will be discussed to point out the strengths and weaknesses of the reported data. Secondly, the Routine Activities and Social Disorganisation theories will be used to provide an explanation for the differences in recorded burglary and theft statistics. Lastly possible policy solutions to reduce the amount of crime reported to and recorded by Police will be discussed. As it appears, burglary and theft offences are higher amongst the Auckland City district than the Waitematā. These results are consistent with the Routine Activity and Social Disorganisation theories as there are more suitable targets, less collective efficacy and more incapable guardians within the ACD due to structural deficiency. The ACD cover the areas within Herne Bay, Freeman s Bay, St Helier s, Onehunga and Avondale, including Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands (NZ Police: Police Districts). The Waitematā Police District includes, New Lynn, the North Shore, Devonport up to Mangawhai and also the motorway stretch from Bombay Hills to Orewa (NZ Police: Police Districts). Social Construction Of Gender And Masculinity Throughout childhood children are exposed to many factors, which may influence their actions and attitudes regarding the social construction of gender, specifically masculinity and femininity. Children s attitudes are influenced by a variety of external sources, but are most strongly influenced by their home life and parents. Parents are responsible for nurturing and teaching children about multiple aspects in life, including gender norms; this occurs both consciously and unconsciously. One way parents pass on their beliefs about gender and gender norms are through the giving of heteronormative toys. Toys children play with and are exposed to subtly and not so subtly teach gender norms and mores that are accepted in society; furthermore, the association of color and toy genre reinforce the social construction of gender and how males are supposed to exhibit masculinity while females exhibit femininity. Masculinity and femininity are social constructions based on the biological terms male and female, respectively. Masculinity is often associated with the terms active, strong, dominant, and not nurturing; whereas, femininity is often associated with the terms passive, weak, submissive, and nurturing (Shaw Lee 123, 126, 131). In today s society, due to gender socialization, people generally believe that men should display masculinity while women should display femininity; this social belief is learned and initially taught to young children through heteronormative toys. ... • 21. Food Inseecurity And Marginal Food Security In The United... By definition, households that are viewed as food secure are able to enjoy a variety of foods without having any sort of limit, thus proceed to have an active and healthy lifestyle (Gregory Coleman Jensen, 2017, 5). Those who are food secure have no worries of when their next meal will be. In contrast, food insecurity is the lack of access to the basic necessity of food due to having low availability of money and other resources. This issue is also affecting many people today in America. Food insecurity is currently affecting 21% of families in the United States (Shankar, Rainjade, Deborah, 2017, 135). There are differences between those who are food secure and those who are food insecure. There are also varying degrees of those who face low food insecurity and extremely low food insecurity. As previously stated, those who are food secure have plentiful necessities of food and do not have any stress of their next meal. These people are characterized by high food security. A recent sample study of 7,802 people conducted this year back in May, found that 57.7% of adults in America were food secure (Leung, Tester, and Laraia, 2017, 730). Marginal food security is a step lower than those who are labeled with high food security, but this type is not classified as severity. Marginal food security involves homes who sometimes reach anxiety about not having enough food in the house, but the quality, variety, and quantity of their food intake are not lowered (Gregory ... • 23. Essay On The Colosseum History: The colosseum was built in 72 C.E. The massive stadium was commissioned by the emperor Vespasian as a gift for the people. The emperor Nero had built a huge lake all for himself. When Nero committed suicide and Vespasian became emperor, he drained the lake and and started building the colosseum over it. This was built over something that was made for one selfish person and built something for the people to share. It took 8 years to build. Sadly Vespasian died before he could see the grand opening of the colosseum leaving it to his son Titus to finish his work. Amphitheater means double theater. Architecture: The colosseum was huge as it could comfortably seat 70,000 people. It covers about 6 acres of land and is 620 feet long, 512 feet wide, and 158 feet tall. It was the tallest and largest building of its time. It was built from limestone, concrete and volcanic stone. The colosseum has many arches on the outside and every arch has a statue under it. The statues were of gods and heroes, all made of bronze. Above all the arches were shields, which were also made of bronze. On top of the roof platform hundreds of sailors would control a huge awning which protected the spectators from rain and created shade on hot days. The awning was retractable and masts extended from supports built into the Colosseum s top. Seating in the Coliseum was determined by group. The best seats were reserved for the emperor as it had the best view. Behind that was the seating for high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The current ratio lets potential investors see the ability of companies to pay off their short term liabilities, with their short term assets. It also can tell investors the financial health of the company as well, so if it is below 1 then the company has problems and can potentially go bankrupt. For UPS the current ratio is 1.14, which is below the industry average of 1.32. It is still good, since it shows that UPS is able to pay off their debt with just their short term assets alone; also, that they are good financial health. It is mainly used to build plot and suspense. A Tale of Two Cities written by Charles Dickens and Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott are both good examples of novels in which conflicts between play an important role and in this novel it is mainly the struggles between social groups which are of big importance. There are a lot of differences but also similarities concerning the points of view of the narrators on the struggles between the social groups. In this essay I will discuss these differences and similarities between the opinions of Sir Walter Scott and Charles Dickens on social conflicts. Dickens used the development of a conflict between the French lower class and the French government and aristocracy to build plot and suspense. The nobility (the government and aristocracy) is extremely rich and the French lower class are exactly the opposite, very poor. The French lower class suffered for a long time under the tight rulings and restraints of the French government and aristocracy. The lives of ignorant French poor people are described by Charles Dickens as horrendous: And who among the company at Monsignor s reception in that seventeen hundred and eightieth year of our Lord, coud possibly doubt, that a system rooted in a frizzled hangman, powdered and gold laced, pumped, and white silk stockinet, would see the very stars out! The 2015 season in the NFL was fun as we saw rookies and two year players come of age playing prominent roles on their respective teams. With that being said, can those players who showed up last season become household names in 2016? Here are five players that will be household names this season: 1. Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson: Johnson burst onto the scene as a third round pick out of Northern Iowa, giving the Cardinals a true three headed monster at running back with Chris Johnson and Andre Ellington. Head coach Bruce Arians knew for the Cardinals to be successful they had to have a formidable rushing attack. Johnson gave them just that as he made an impact in the Cardinals regular season opener against the New Orleans Saints, where he only had one reception but made it count as he took it 55 yards for a touchdown. That was a sign of things to come as the next week against the Chicago Bears, Johnson had 108 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Johnson would finish the season with 13 total touchdowns, 581 rushing and 457 receiving yards. The Chorus, a body of approximately fifteen Corinthian women who associate the audience with the actors, is able to persuade and govern us indirectly through sympathy for what has been done to Medea, a princess of Colchis and the victim of her husband s betrayal of love for another woman. The Chorus also lead us to through sympathy for Medea to accept her decision of taking revenge on princess Glauce and Jason. In the scene where Medea has reached a dead end and has no where and no one to turn to the Chorus says. Medea, poor Medea! Your grief touches our hearts. A wanderer, where can you turn? To what welcoming house? To what protecting land? How wild with dread and danger is the sea where the gods have set your course! (Page 28) The Chorus explains to us that Medea has nothing to lose, that her situation is bleak and in some way forces us to feel sorry for Medea and to favour her. After the scene where Medea and Jason argue, the Chorus speaks more of Medea s hopeless situation. Dragging out an intolerable life in desperate helplessness! That is the most pitiful of all griefs; death is better. Should such a day come to me I pray for death first. (Page 36) The group of Corinthian women prefer death rather than exist through Medea s situation. They move us to pity Medea. You, Medea, have suffered the most shattering of blows... • 31. Trigger Warning Trigger warnings and the underlying issue In the essay The Coddling of the American Mind , Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt argue trigger warnings are hindering the learning experience in college. While this is true it goes farther than just that, there is an epidemic of a certain mentality spreading across the United States. This mentality is that everyone is deserving of content warnings, whether it be graphic, on paper, or ideas in a discussion everywhere they go. This is a terrible mentality to have, because it breeds an underlying issue. The issue at hand is a psychological issue that can be treated over time. The issue s severity depends on what the person wants a trigger warning for. In the extreme cases, there are completely unreasonable demands for warnings because it could be too common, there would be too many warnings, while in other cases it is more reasonable but still should not become the norm of society. If trigger warnings become the norm for the world it would cause harm to individuals minds and society. To begin with, what is a trigger warning or content warning? Both trigger warnings and content warnings can be used in place of one another because they stand for the same thing. A trigger warning is a warning that means there is a topic or idea that will be discussed or shown visually that could cause stress to some people. These can range from reasonable topics such as rape, abuse, or death. Those topics rarely come up in day to day conversations and contain some of the worst acts a human can do, and it is reasonable to offer trigger warnings for these topics. It is not acceptable, however, to require these warnings on everyone that talks about these topics. On the other extreme some people could claim to have been offended at ordinary topics that show up in daily conversation. A short story in Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt s paper was about a professor, Francis Schmidt, that had received a suspension from a harmless action. This action was that he posted a picture of his daughter on Facebook, who happened to be wearing a shirt with a Game of Thrones quote. A student took this as a threat and complained to the school, how is a trigger warning supposed to be put on that? This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mathematically a fuzzy set on a set X is a mapping µ into [0, 1] of real numbers; for x in X, µ(x) is called the membership of x belonging to X. The membership function gives only an approximation for belonging but it does not give any information of not belonging. To overcome this, Gau.W.L and Buehrer.D.J[7] introduced the concept of vague sets. Drones Essay Felix Chan Dr. Wilkes Senior Seminar 6 December, 2015 Drones, that all INTRODUCTION As a human when we employ power by facts and evidence gathering with all the tools at our disposal, they can have a significant impact. So then will we use the new technology of unmanned aerial vehicles, drones, to create power for our stories? First of all we have to try to define what the word drone encompasses. In the spring 2013 issue of News Media The Law, Lilly Chapa provided this description: Technically, any aircraft that is controlled remotely is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), or drone. Most modern drones are controlled by Global Positioning System based commands programmed through a computer. Binge Drinking And The Minimum Legal Drinking Age Karzhova Marina Erin Beaver English Composition II 5 November 2014 Binge Drinking and the Minimum Legal Drinking Age In the year 1984, President Ronald Reagan enacted a law that increased the minimum drinking Age all U.S states to 21 years. As a result, it is believed that the mortality rates due to road accidents reduced from 5,000 in the 80 s to 2, 000 in 2005 (Dean Mooney). However, the issue of binge drinking remains unsolved with learning institutions having to deal with it every semester. In response to this, 134 college presidents formed the Amethyst Initiative, which is, a proposal allowing persons aged between 18 and 20 to consume alcoholic drinks Conversely, the Mothers against Drunk Driving (MADD), which pushed for the enactment of the law in 1984 believes that the Amethyst Initiative is misplaced. The push for a lower drinking age is a battle between the parental community and the student fraternity. For the drinking age too be lowered the Amethyst Initiative must compile concrete research and facts to support its findings. Nonetheless, historical data shows that increase in the minimum legal drinking age results in a decrease in the amount of deaths. As argued by Barry, Stellefson and Woosley, the MLDA clearly reduces alcohol consumption and its associated harms (8). In light of this, one can argue that the minimum drinking age should remain at 21 as lowering it may cause fatal consequences. The factors can be broadly classified as internal, such as ... There are two things that immediately come to mind when I think about social justice in the real world. Education is one. Typically, people are more prone to go to college if their parents or siblings go to college. Going back to the topic of East Des Moines, East high school is not a school that is looked well upon. The teachers are underpaid and most of the students do not care about their education enough to go to class everyday. Knowing this, students from schools like that are less likely to go on to college and get an education. This then leads to them not getting good jobs and making enough money to support themselves. I believe that this is an injustice because those students do not choose to go to schools like that, but they get started off on the wrong foot right from the start. People look down on them because of the school they go to. The other thing I think about when I hear the word social justice is Racism. Segregation is something that most people don t think is still a problem, but unfortunately it is. They view segregation as an unfortunate holdover from a racist past, one that is fading progressively overtime (Massey 1). The two main characters, that I would say, on the team were Gerry, played by Ryan Douglas Hurst, and Julius, played by Wood Hayes. They hated the way each other acted and they would not acknowledge that the other was even a person. Their different races really affected their relationship. They were like enemies. They hated the thought of having to play on the same football team. Playing with your enemies wasn t the ideal situation for them, but they were too determined for the love of the game that they wouldn t let their other teammates hold them back. After playing together, they started noticing that their differences were unrecognizable and being teammates resulted in friendship. Gerry and Julius finally realized that skin color should not hold them back from friendship, or being teammates. Even though their appearances were different on the outside, they were the same on the inside and obviously shared interests. They both noticed that they had developed a lot of trust and respect for one another. They worked together to overcome the racial issues and to heal the conflict. The quote, Trusting a man s soul rather than their color really comes into play with the relationships within this movie. Their relationship is now strong and they are built on respect and ... This is a result of the reduced flexion of the prosthetic knee. Also the characteristic of the prosthetic foot influences the peak height too. After contralateral foot contact an abrupt transition from hip extension to flexion is seen. In the late stance, an eccentric hip flexor activity is seen as compared to normal. This inturn generates higher hip flexor moment. • 47. The Self Centered, Me Mentality, A Character Flaw That... A self centered, me mentality, is a character flaw that many Americans struggle with. Consider the man that was cautioned by his mother to become financially stable in his life before having children. He did not heed her advice and created three children before completing college. The choices he made resulted in him working long hours, paying endless amounts of child support, and having no time for a social life of his own. He chronically complains and while he created his own storm, he got upset when it rained (Tagore). While some people wisely accept personal responsibility for the situations they have created due to choices and decisions they chose to make, others are quick to use self justification methods and therefore lack the ability to take responsibility for their own lives. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, narcissism is an excessive interest in one s self; or self centeredness arising from failure to distinguish the self from external objects (Merriam Webster.com). This is a contributing factor of the growing problem of many Americans whom refuse to acknowledge their unproductive behaviors. If it seems like responsibility shirking is on the rise, it may not be your imagination. Narcissism has risen 30% among college students since 1979, and studies show their self confidence is at an all time high (artofmanliness.com). People are very focused on themselves and do not care about the consequences of their actions. This is causing major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The theme of the song can be found in several lyric such as, Well, I ve been afraid of changin, cause I ve built my life around you (Fleetwood Mac). It is said that if a couple thinks that their relationship is not going to work out, it can tumble over at any time. The effects of shouting out and going for help may seem like a good idea, but it will just bring down the avalanche right on top of the situation and collapse everything in. In Perks of Being a Wallflower, Charlie experiences a loss of a close friend (Michael) to a suicide. Charlie has the idea of coping with this death by writing in letters to his unnamed friend and this is a reason why this is on the mixtape. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People are searching for the theme, and that can be found in the lyrics, With the lights out, it s less dangerous, / Here we are now; entertain us, / I feel stupid and contagious (Nirvana). It is said that these lyrics show the security and satisfaction after shooting up with heroin. The idea of drugs and sex is messed up but nothing can entertain a group of young teens. People are trying to introduce this idea of heroin as an idea that is better than sex, which is almost all that someone can say after shooting up too many times.
