Symptoms And Treatment Of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
FASDs are defined as an umbrella term describing the range of effects that can occur in an individual
whose mother drank alcohol during pregnancy (Caley, Kramer, and Robinson, 2005, p. 139). Alcohol
has a teratogenic effect on the brain, and each child inside the uterus is affected differently. FASD is
not a clinical diagnosis (Caley et al., 2005). Currently the diagnoses under FASD include fetal alcohol
syndrome (FAS), partial fetal alcohol syndrome (pFAS), alcohol related neurodevelopmental disorder
(ARND), and alcohol related birth defects (ARBD) (Bertrand, 2009). FAS is considered the most
severe of the FASD diagnosis and is compriseds of facial dysmorphia (features that include the

Green (2007) emphasized that FASDs cognitive and behavioral effects can and do develop separately
from the physical facial characteristics.
Overall, children and adults with FASDs are faceing a lifelong challenge ofwith lifelong, negative
effects of the brain and CNS damage. As a result, children with FASD can have a wide range of
physical, cognitive, social, mental, and behavioral effects (Caley et al., 2005). FASDs presents in each
person differently. Carpenter (2011) says that A number of factors, such as the pattern and timing of
alcohol consumption, the stage of foetal development, and social behavioural factors, such as poverty
and smoking, may exacerbate the impact of alcohol (p. 37).
In addition to the facial features, other physical effects can include malformations, deficits in motors
skills and some children even present with seizures. The cognitive impact can also be very damaging
to a child. They can have a learning disability, mental retardation, memory deficits, information
processing disorders, a lack of executive functioning skills, can inconsistently perform in abstract and
generalizing tasks (they struggle to relate and build upon previous knowledge), and they often lack
cognitive flexibility. Executive functioning is important for a student in the classroom. A student needs
these skills for paying attention,

Democratic Deficit in the European Union
Most voters seem to take the opportunity to give the incumbent national government a good kicking
during European elections, as seen in the UK, Spain and France, rather than vote on a broad manifesto
of ideas. This is fuelled further by MEPs campaigning on local issues rather than European ones. This
is an example of part of the democratic deficit in the European Parliament. To further show how there
is a democratic deficit in the European Parliament I will explain how it is largely inaccessible to its
European citizens and how the European Parliament lacks the power that it requires to resolve the
problems in the Union. I will then describe some unsuccessful attempts at solutions and conclude with
some possible future remedies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The balance between these two branches differed from country to country. With the gradual
development of the EEC, more and more areas of public policy were transferred from national
governments to the community with the result that the overall powers of the executives within
member countries of the EU have increased while parliamentary powers have decreased.
The main argument is that the parliament is too weak, while the council is too powerful. The executive
branches, the Council and the Commission, are not drawn from Parliament and are thus not
accountable to it in the way it would be, for example, in the UK through a vote of no confidence. The
two branches are completely separate, which can mean that there is not an effective check as there was
meant to be. The Parliament is too weak to hold either of the executive branches to account, meaning
that they can pass legislation without the consent of the Parliament, except when co decision applies
on matters pertaining to qualified majority voting in the Council.
Compared to many national and sub national legislatures, the European Parliament has a relatively
low profile. In the past, some scholars of the European Union judged it to be less important than other
governing institutions of the Union. However, since the mid 1980 s the European Parliament has
undergone many substantial changes, probably more than any other major European Union body. The

Grounded Theory Essay
The use of illicit substances has become increasing common in schizophrenia (Asher Gask, 2010).
Illicit substance use by persons with a diagnosis of schizophrenia has long been associated with
increased severity of psychosis, psychiatric hospital inpatient admissions, higher rates of readmission
and poor treatment outcomes (Asher Gask, 2010; Charles Weaver, 2010; Hambrecht Hafner, 1996;
Swofford, Kasckow, Scheller Gilkey Inderbitzin, 1996). It has also been acknowledged that persons
diagnosed with schizophrenia are more likely to use illicit substances within their lifetime than the
general population, with rates of comorbid substance use fluctuating from 15 to 65% in persons
diagnosed with schizophrenia (Charles Weaver, 2010; Malchow et al, 2012). So ... Show more content

Approach
For this research article the author has chosen to use a grounded theory approach. Grounded theory is
a qualitative method of research which allows the researchers to construct meaning of the selected
topic via a process of development and reflection of the data collected (Charmaz, 2014). Grounded
theory provides a flexible and intuitive process to data collection and analysis allowing the
construction of a theory that is truly grounded from the data (Charmaz, 2014).
Grounded theory was developed in the 1960s by two sociologists with the idea that meaning is
developed through interaction with experience (Polit Beck, 2017; Starks Brown Trinidad, 2007). It is
often used to explain and explore social process and the lived experience and perceptions of others,
providing enlightenment to researchers, practitioners or clinicians on the chosen topic. For the purpose
of exploring the consumers experiences of comorbid schizophrenia and substance abuse grounded
theory will allow real world experiences to be collected and compared to then generate meaning and
understanding which can assist clinicians in the development of

Application Of Direct Sales Comparison
This report uses the application of direct sales comparison approach to derive the site value for the
subject property. There are sufficient sales of vacant lots within 3 miles of the subject property. Seven
suitable vacant lot sales were selected and analyzed to estimate indicated subject s lot value (table_ 1).
The analysis uses a per sq. ft. unit in valuing the site. The vacant lots were sold March to October of
2013. Lots attribute such as lot size, lot shape, topography, Resource Protected Area (RPA), zoning
which is density of development allowed per acre of land, and traffic patterns were analyzed. The
report used the Fairfax County digital maps of property, resource protected area, and topography
maps. In addition, aerial photography data was used to determine the level of traffic in areas
surrounding each lot.
The comparable lot sales are similar to the subject in term of land features such as lot shape, land use,
topography, and traffic patterns. The main differences in the comparable lots are observed in terms of
lot size, RPA, and zoning (density of development allowed per acre of land).
This report originally selected twenty one vacant or lots with old buildings which were subsequently
razed and replaced with newer and larger contemporary homes. In order to conduct a meaningful
analysis, the report calculated per sq. ft. median sales price of $7.20 based on the original twenty one
vacant lot sales (appendix _A). This figure is only used for adjusting the size

The Myers Briggs Profile Is Bases
The Neo Freudian theorist on which on which the Myers Briggs profile is bases is Carl Gustav Jung.
Born in 1875 he was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist who founded analytical psychology, of
which Jung decided the central concept to be individualism. He thought that there were four basic
principal functions by which we see the world, sensation, intuition, feeling, and thinking. He claimed
that we use one of those senses is what we use most of the time. Each of the eight letters stand for
different things in the Myers Briggs profile. The letter E represents Extraversion. Which are basically
extraverts, people that are go getters in life, life working in large groups, have lots of friends, and are
easily excited by being around other people. The letter I stands for Introversion. Which are introverts,
people who are calm, reserved, take the time to reflect on ideas that explain the outside world. The
letter N represents Intuition. Intuitive type may be concerned with what is new and doing new and
different things. They see the big picture of things and are constantly brain storming ideas. They
would also rather gain understanding through insight than through hands on experiences. The Letter S
stand for sensing. People that are sensing are really concerned with what they can actually see in front
of them and approach situations with their eyes open to the facts. The letter F represents Feeling, they
are people that wear their hearts on their sleeves. They

living in, the role of the people, and the kind of place and caste system she is living in. Offred is
crucial to the story because one she is the main character and two she gives us descriptions of what
kind of roles or changes have been placed in the Gilead nation. Also another character Ofglen who is a
handmaid like Offred plays a role as a friend like figure to Offred. They are assigned as partners to

Land Use Development Patterns And The International...
INTRODUCTION
1.0 BACKGROUND TO STUDY
Land use development patterns (also called urban form, built environment, community design, spatial
development, and urban geography) is referred to as the human use of the earth s surface, including
the location, type and design of infrastructure such as roads and buildings. Land use patterns can have
diverse economic, social and environmental impacts and some are more accessible and so reduce
transportation costs to businesses and consumers.
Transportation on the other hand is the movement of people, information and goods from one location
to another. The specific purpose of transportation is to fulfill a demand for mobility, since
transportation can only exists if it moves people, freight and information around. Otherwise it has no
purpose. Since the 18th century till now, urbanization, multinational corporations, the globalization of
trade and the international division of labor are all forces shaping and taking advantage of
transportation at different, but often related, scales. Consequently, the fundamental purpose of
transport is geographic in nature, because it facilitates movements between different locations.
Transport thus plays a role in the structure and organization of space and territories, which may vary
according to the level of development.

Analysis Of Helft Mir Ihr Schwestern
Helft mir, ihr Schwestern is song number five from Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe und
leben. The song cycle was set to the text of a poem cycle of the same name by Adelbert von
Chamisso. Each poem in the cycle provides a glimpse into the story of a woman falling in love with a
man, getting engaged and married to him, getting pregnant and having a child, becoming a widow and
finally sharing her life story with her granddaughter. At the time that Schumann wrote this song cycle,
he was going through a legal battle with his future wife s father over the right to marry her. This poem
cycle contains themes of love, devotion, and longing that Schumann could personally relate with his
feelings for Clara Wieck, who would soon become Clara Schumann. In this essay, I will demonstrate
how Frauenliebe und leben is directly reflective of Robert Schumann s own life experiences. In so
doing, I will be analyzing the ways in which Schumann set the music in a fashion that emphasized the
structure and emotional content of the poetry. In order to better understand the context of Robert
Schuman s setting of Helft mir, ihr Schwestern, I will first provide a general analysis of the song cycle
as a whole. As Schumann set music to the various poems, he shifted the tonality to closely related
keys, such as a fourth or fifth away, or shifting the relative or parallel major and minor keys. These
shifts in tonality help emphasis the emotional development of the main character of the poems. The
song cycle begins with a relatively slow and reflective song in the key of Bb major, where the main
subject of the poem cycle first describes her feelings of intense, blind love for a man. The next song
shifts the tonal center up a fourth to the key of Eb. In this song, the woman raises the man of her
affection up on a pedestal of high praise, while she demeans herself to a lowly maid. Song three,
moves the tonality to the relative minor of the previous song, C minor. This song is about the woman s
disbelief that the man she adored so highly has fallen in love with her, and Schumann reflects that
disbelief by making the music more erratic in tempo. He also emphasizes the disbelief by repeating
the complete last stanza and then the

Sherlock Holmes By Arthur Conan Doyle
To begin with, the first indispensable step in the research should be devoted to the Scottish writer sir
Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the famous Victorian detective Sherlock Holmes. The fact that
Conan Doyle was not the first detective writer is definitely worth mentioning. The founder of the
detective genre is considered to be the American writer Edgar Allan Poe. The story of detective fiction
oficially started in 1841 when Poe published his The Murders in the Rue Morgue (Kopley 31). This
famous story established literary conventions which are used in detective fiction till the present time.
The main character of Poe`s novels, the Paris detective C. August Dupin, has become a prototype of
the detective image which does not stale even nowadays, and had a big influence on Sherlock
Holmes`s image (Schwartz 15).
Arthur Conan Doyle devoted his famous quotation to Poe: Each [of Poe s detective stories] is a root
from which a whole literature has developed... Where was the detective story until Poe breathed the
breath of life into it? (Dawn 323). The reference to Dupin`s character can be even found in the first
story of Sherlock book series A Study in Scarlet (1887) where Holmes mensions Dupin when Watson
tries to compare the two detectives: No doubt you think you are complimenting me... In my opinion,
Dupin was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his character, gaining a tremendous level of success after the first story

wins by a quarterback, most super bowl MVP selections, has won twenty five of the thirty four playoff
games he has started in, has been selected to twelve pro bowls, and he has the most divisions won by a
single quarterback (Doeden). For instance, he also has led the Patriots from a losing team to a winning
team. With Tom Brady starting at quarterback the Patriots have never had a losing season (Doeden). In
addition, he also has broken records for his stats. One of the records he broke was the best Touchdown

years Super Bowl he had a great game. The Patriots overcame a twenty five point deficit and took the
game to the first Super Bowl overtime game, he threw his first post season pick six ever after playing

Abstract
The SAARC region with over a billion populations is contiguous to the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal
and the Arabian Sea. Utilization of ocean resources for power generation such as tidal, thermal solar
and wind for energy, along with other green technologies like seaweed farming and sustainable
fisheries for food would need to be incorporated in a broad framework for the region. Development of
ocean based energy systems can be integrated with early warning networks linked by satellite which
can give a few hours to days warning to help mitigate the severity of natural disasters on human life. .
Some of the calamities of note have been the Tsunami of 2004, Bangladesh and Orissa floods,
earthquakes in Nepal and Pakistan, and recent inundation of Chennai due to weather and bad flood
management. A SAARC comprehensive Framework on disaster management was formulated in
alignment with the Hyogo Framework (2005 2015). In addition to the broad objectives of disaster
management and cooperation in the Indian Ocean and surrounding regions, impeding disasters due to
climate change need to be anticipated. Ocean energy systems are still in their infancy, while ocean

Importantly the snow machine only costs twenty dollars, but therefore if the heater goes out then you

Cost Benefit Analysis
Cost benefit analysis is an economic evaluation whether to go ahead with the project depending on the
benefits attained from the invested amount on the project (cost). To perform this analysis, all the
inputs (cost) and outputs (benefits) should be measured in the same unit of measurement and at the
same time. Generally, the measurement unit is money (usually dollar). We need to measure these at the
same time because the dollar value changes time to time. While evaluating the cost benefit analysis we
need to take both the tangible and intangible costs in to consideration and classify the costs in one
time cost and recurring costs. So these onetime costs and recurring costs need to have relation with
time depending on the length of the project. Need to determine the fixed costs and variable costs in
both onetime cost and recurring cost. We need to have the relation between time and money as we
determine the costs, benefits and useful life of the project is determined on present day, to have a
successful cost benefit analysis. We need to maintain a record for all these costs.
The most commonly used Cost benefit analysis are:
1. Net Present Value (NPV): It uses cost of capital and discount rate to determine the present value of
the project.
2. Return of Investment (ROI): It is the ratio of net cash receipts of the project divided

Differences And Fall Of The Han Dynasty And The Roman Empire
The Han Dynasty and Roman Empire both ruled for considerably long periods, spanning over four
centuries around the same time. The Zhou Dynasty, an early Chinese empire, ruled to around the
beginning of the Han Dynasty. Their government was based on feudalism; this giving power to the
rich in their society. Overextension led to the fall of their rule, leading to the rise of Confucianism and
Legalism. These beliefs along with Taoism led to the warring states period, these views leading to the
start of the Qin Dynasty and then to the Confucianist Han Dynasty. Like the beginning of the Han
Dynasty, the Roman Empire began with nobility rule. A difference would be that the Roman Republic
s fall had more to do with the tension between the classes. This leading to Julius Caesar s rule, like
Qin Shi Huangdi the Emperor of the Qin Shi Dynasty. Caesar s assassination lead to the rise of the
Roman Empire. The beginning of their regions early powers began around the same period and
spanned for around the same length, this provided for similarities between the two, such as tension
between classes, and expansion of their trade routes, a difference being the succession of leaders in
both of their governments.
Tension between classes contributed to the fall of the Han Dynasty and the Western Roman Empire.

The Parthenon And The Marbles
The Parthenon is located on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece; is a former temple which was dedicated
to Greek goddess Athena, whom the Athens considered their leader. According to the British Museum
(2015), The Parthenon was built nearly 2500 years ago and has a long and complex history. After
thousands of years it became a church of the Virgin Mary of the Athenians, then a mosque and then
finally resulted in a archaeological ruin. After the result of a ruin, the buildings were reformed in
which various sculptures were damaged. During the 1800 s after the Parthenon being damaged, the
Elgin marbles (Elgin) a part of the remaining sculpture, was removed and given to a British museum.
For hundreds of years there has been a question if the British museum should return the Elgin marbles
back to the Athenians or not. I believe that that the safest and most beneficial place for the Elgin
marbles is the British museum, therefore the British should not return the marble to the Athenians.
In contrast to what I believe, other individuals would counter my belief. One counter argument I could
receive from other individuals would be that the Parthenon is missing the Elgin marbles which is a
very significant piece for their culture, since it represents their goddess Athena. Others would argue
that the sculpture looks incomplete without its Elgin marbles (Elgin), so therefore the British museum
should return the Elgin marbles to Athens. According to the British Museum (2015),

Andrew Carnegie became famous at the turn of the twentieth century and became a real life rags to

world in poverty. The son of a hand weaver, Carnegie received his only formal education during the
short time between his birth and his move to the United States. When steam machinery for weaving

enterprises in America. Carnegie later sold it to J.P. Morgan s United States Steel Corporation in 1901
for $400 million, which would be a little over $4 billion today! After retiring, Carnegie s fortune was
estimated to be as large as half a billion dollars. From that time on, with the philosophy that the rich
have a moral obligation to give away their money, he devoted himself to philanthropy. Although
ironic, this man of great fortune strongly believed in the merits of poverty for the development of
character and work ethic, and determined that wealthy men should not leave their fortunes to their

Heroes In Greek Myth

will have to make for themselves or another is about learning. Knowledge, behaviors, skills, values

today there are many ways to get an education: public school, private school, charter school,

Britain when they colonized North America. Those five traditions are Calvinism, Localism,
controlling the mobility of the workforce, reliance on poor houses and work houses, and less
eligibility. These traditions will be defined and then connected to the influence they have had on the
modern American social policy.
Calvinism is the first social policy tradition that the British brought to America with them. The idea of
Calvinism allowed the poor to be understood per their character. When working hard and prospering
an individual was destined to be rich; however, if an individual was poor and suffering that was what
they were destined to be. Calvinism brought light to the idea that an individual s station could be
improved if they were hard working and had the capability to save money. While the social mobility
was suggested, Calvinism also looked at poverty in a way that had to with the poor individual s moral
failings as the cause of the poverty that the individual experienced (Blau Abramovitz, 2014).
In modern social welfare policy, Calvinism can be seen during President Reagan s time in office. He
saw those that failed and were relying on social welfare programs as getting what they deserve.
During his time in office, he condemned most of the social welfare programs,

Security Threats of E-Commerce
INTRODUCTION
E commerce, which is simply the system of transacting business through the use of electronic and
digital media as the computer and mobile devices, has become not just a necessary but also an
effective means of global economic development. The astronomical growth of interconnectivity
through the computer network (I.e., internet) has made e commerce a veritable tool for quick business
relationships to be formed without any form of physical contact. At the click of the mouse, business
transactions ranging from banking, shopping and all manner of trading are carried out by millions of
internet users on a daily basis.
Due to the impersonal nature of communication over the internet, and obviously, these processes take

The goods can be physical goods, such as books, equipments or CDs, or electronic goods, such as
electronic documents, images, or music. Similarly, there are traditional services, such as hotel or flight
booking, as well as electronic services, such as financial market analyses in electronic form.
E payment systems are not a novel idea. Electronic money has been used between banks in the form of
funds transfer since 1960. For nearly as long, customers have been able to withdraw money from
ATMs (automatic teller machines), and the use of credit cards has also become increasingly common
since then.
Credit Cards
Credit cards are currently the most popular payment instrument on the Internet. The first credit cards
were introduced decades ago (Diner s Club in 1949, American Express in 1958). For a long time,
credit cards have been produced with magnetic stripes containing unencrypted, read only information.
Today, more and more cards are smart cards containing hardware devices (chips) offering encryption
and far greater storage capacity. Recently even virtual credit cards (software digital or e wallets) are
gaining progressive patronage.
Typically, the customer gives his credit card information (i.e., issuer, expiry date, number) to the
merchant. The merchant asks the acquirer bank for authorization. The acquirer bank sends a message
over the interbank network to the issuer bank asking for

Why The Coalbed Methane
More countries in the world extract the methane from coal beds and today it is established in a number
of countries throughout the world, including the USA, Australia, China, India and Canada. The
advantage of the coal is almost pure carbon and its reservoir character is fundamentally different to
conventional gas plays.
The Coalbed methane refers to methane that is produced in association with coal, and CBM reserves
are located wherever large deposits of coal are found. CBM is formed through organic decomposition,
and it adheres to the many surfaces of the coal until it is released through natural or man made
processes. This unconventional energy resource has both similar and unique challenges to those in
conventional oil and gas production.

Starbucks Vs. Executive Of Starbucks
Howard Schlutz CEO and Chairman of Starbucks proved that dreams do come true. Starbucks Coffee
Company is the textbook example proving that passion and drive are enough to start an effective
business project. Starbucks bred progressively from one little homegrown business in Seattle to an
international coffee giant. From the beginning, the company had a different aura to it. It is not a
traditional entrepreneurship, in the sense that Howard got the idea from the owners of the original
Starbucks in Seattle. But Howard s vision to bring the romance of coffee is what made him prosper. It
was not about the profits for him, it was about celebrating coffee and its rich tradition. He s the man
who globalized coffee. A defining moment, in the early history of Starbucks was when Howard bought
Starbucks from his previous employers in 1987. Here, he was faced with problems of merging two
companies and transforming them into one successful business. Starbucks is not only about the
positives. From 1987 to 1989 Starbucks had a losing streak. Schultz never strayed from his original
purpose and battled through the storm, laying a strong foundation for his company. The crossroads in
Schultz s life is his capability to foretell the future and trust in fate. One of the greatest lessons learned
from his story is that, as a strategic component in entrepreneurship, pursuing an opportunity fused
with desire can yield magnificent products. The key principle that Schultz conveys is that employees

Case Study Carotid Endarterectomy
Carotid endarterectomy in Moyamoya disease: a case report
We report the case of a 55 year old female who was operated for stenosis of the right internal carotid
artery in the setting of Moyamoya disease previously treated with extensive carotid and cerebral
vascular reconstructions. The atherosclerotic plaque was excised and the right internal carotid artery
was repaired with bovine pericardium. The utilization of carotid endarterectomy in the surgical
management of Moyamoya disease is poorly described in the literature.
Moyamoya disease is progressive cerebral vasculopathy characterized by bilateral stenosis or
occlusion of the arteries of the circle of Willis that entails a poor prognosis without cerebral
revascularization. We report a case of severe stenosis of the right internal carotid artery refractory to
percutaneous intervention in the setting of complex Moyamoya disease.

Frederick Douglass Rhetoric
In an autobiography called Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: An American Slave, written
by himself, the author asserts that the way to enslave someone is to probit he or she from all learning.
Douglass supports his claim by first, learning to read and second, by gaining his freedom. His purpose
is to influence change in order to abolish slavery by using ethos, logos, and pathos. Based on the
purpose of the book as well as the stories he tells, Douglass is writing to influence powerful people to
abolish the horrible reality known as slavery; developing a sympathetic relationship with the audience.
Although slavery was common and many people thought nothing of it, Douglass realized that the real
way to enslave someone was to keep them from all learning, which is proven throughout the book.
Frederick Douglass sympathizes with the audience through his experiences in slavery. Douglass was
kept from learning even the simplest of things. For example, The White children could tell their ages. I
could not tell why I ought to be deprived of the same privilege. I was not allowed to make any
inquiries of my master concerning it... (Douglass 1). Slaves did not need to know their age because it
was unimportant. Meaning, slaves were only needed to complete tasks in the eyes of slave owners.
Slaves knowing their own age would give themselves power, but since the slave holders were
superior, slave owners could control their slaves. Consequently, slaves were unable to know how

Slumdog Millionaire Film Techniques
Danny Boyles film Slumdog Millionaire follows two brothers from the Juhu slum in Mumbai as they
face the trials and tributes of growing up in poverty. Although Salim, the elder brother, is given the
same childhood experiences and trauma as his younger brother Jamal, his drive and hunger for power
lead him to a life of crime, corruption and misconduct. These actions later have a detrimental effect on
his relationship with Jamal, which in turn, becomes his demise. Boyle uses a range of effective film
techniques to develop Salim s growth as a character which helps to communicate the idea that
ambition can enhance an individual or be the reason for their downfall. Throughout the film, Boyle

controlling and aggressive to the other children, which, in turn, detaches him for their group as they

techniques to show how Salim s ambition is being used against him. Maman see s this hunger for
power and control in such a young child and uses it to harness control over Salim, moulding Salim
into a replica of himself. Boyle continues to develop these ideas in Salim s adolescents as his childish
naivety is replaced by the defiance and neglect for others that is brought about by the denial of his
childhood trauma. At this point in his life, Salim has changed a lot due to the effects of the tough life
he has had. His childhood trauma has simply been pushed to the back of his mind, but these forgotten
memories are constantly biting at the back of his thoughts further corrupting his ideas of morality and
his hunger for power. Salim is face to face with his idol again. When Maman first enters the room a
dutch angle is used to show the confusion and shock from both parties. Salim and Maman have not
seen each other for years and Salim has changed a lot in that time. Maman and Salim are seen in a mid

deeper into the roles that ethics and morals play in society today.
There are ethical and moral dilemmas that the characters face and for that historical and social time

Cause Of Mass Shootings
As most people already know in this year alone two of the biggest mass shootings in the United States
history. The two shootings that are explained are the shooting in Las Vegas, which killed 58 and
wounded 515 and the shooting in Texas which killed 26 and injured 20. You can also look at the
Orlando Florida shooting last year which killed 49 and had 58 wounded (Linnane). Shootings in
America have become more and more frequent, and it seems to some people that nowhere is safe. The
examples given were at a concert, a bar and a church. It seems that no matter where you go there is
now a risk of your life. Just imagine being in the shoes of someone who was in the Vegas attack.
Thinking that they will have a fun time when all of a sudden you see someone next to you drop dead
because someone has started to open fire. Everyone is in a panic trying to get to cover. You witness
people praying that they won t get shot as everyone piles up. How did this occur? Why are these
shootings becoming so common? Why do these horrible situations keep on occurring? Well, due to the
amount of guns in America, the lack of Mental Health Care, and the ease of obtaining a weapon, mass
shootings are increasing with more lives being lost.
It seems that one major reason for the mass shootings is the astronomical number of guns in America.

can be used to explain social issues. As sociology is a science, research is based on methodology and
data. Sociologists will develop a hypothesis which they aim to prove via testing and data collecting.
This can be completed by using either qualitive or quantative research methods. The findings can be
generalised up to a certain extent if not universally. Common Sense on the other hand is based upon
observation and casual knowledge. The knowledge generated is based upon tradition therefore making
it resistant to change. People justify their common sense

Naked Lunch and A Modest Proposal Essay
Naked Lunch and A Modest Proposal
In 1729, Jonathon Swift published an essay titled A Modest Proposal, which dealt with the issue of
homelessness among the poor families of his country. His satirical proposal to control the population
of homeless children stirred a debate on the morality of his proposal. Two hundred and thirty years
later in 1959, William S. Burroughs published a novel entitled Naked Lunch, which dealt with the
desperate struggle of drug addiction and the governments role in rehabilitating addicts. Inspired by
Swifts Modest Proposal, Burroughs satirical portrait of drug addiction was also controversial. Both

(Swift, par. 33) Of course, Swift was not serious in his proposal, but he was serious about helping
improve the situations of the poor in his country. By directly addressing the situation, Swift addressed
the issue of homelessness in a manner that was both bold and effective. It was bold in that it was a
very controversial way of dealing with the problem. No rational human being would propose
cannibalism as a solution to homelessness, but it s use is effective as a voice that stands out and causes
people to think about what he is dealing with. By suggesting cannibalism, Swift draws on one of the
most wide spread taboos in the world to repulse his audience into realizing that homelessness was a
serious problem. Swift was tired of hearing ideas proposed to deals with the poor, in his opinion there
was too much talk and not enough action: But as to myself, having been wearied out for many years of
offering vain, idle, visionary thoughts, and at length utterly despairing of success, I fortunately fell
upon this proposal, which, as it is wholly new, so it hath something solid and real, of no expense and
little trouble (Swift,par.31) By stirring up such strong reactions to it, Swift cause people to really think
about the problem of homelessness and ways to help deal with the problem. In the novel Naked

Evaluating Unethical Decision Consequences Of An Organization
Evaluating Unethical Decision Consequences
This paper provides an identification of potential means whereby Information Technology (IT)
managers, acting on the organization s behalf as purchase agents with IT vendors, participate in
fraudulent activities. Further included are a series of recommendations for measures and actions that
chief information officers or chief technology officers should consider as mandates to reduce fraud
and other unethical practices while protecting the reputation of the organization, and the infrastructure
of the computer systems of the organization. Finally, the paper elaborates regarding how these
identified measures reduce the frequency of fraudulent activities.
Identification of Potential Information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Identified Types of Fraudulent Activity
At almost any stage, there is a potential for fraud occurring in the IT procurement process. Fraud
activities may include a range of activities on the part of a fraudulent manager. As reported by the
ACFE (2010), these fraudulent activities on the part of procurement managers potentially include
various actions that negatively affect the organization. Accordingly, some identified types of
fraudulent activities reported in the ACFE (2010) study included categories such as: selecting only
information technology projects that provide higher return values with specifications tailored to limit
competitive bidding, or instituted through abuse by the IT managers of confidentiality. Moreover,
other potential fraudulent activity might include manipulations in the preparation stage of the contract
resulting in limits to the submission of and evaluation relative to contract bids, as well as the potential
for instances of false invoice and over billing, or contract underperformance and an inability to meet
the contract specifications (ACFE, 2010). Consequently, as stated by the Office of the New York
Comptroller (2010), procurement activities that involve corruption commonly fall into one of three
general categories:
Demand for payment occurs when an Information Technology Manager receives improper bribes or
kickback from the customer, in exchange for

to stand your ground, and fight for what you believe in. In other words, be willing to die for what you

brutal behaviors humans can portray on one another.
Thinking and Inquiry 1. The tone of this story is dark and bitter. Ting Ling achieves this in the
characters emotions throughout the story. This is also shown through imagery, through the gloomy
vibe of the story. Ting Ling used figurative language and vivid descriptions to make the story come
across as both bitter and dark. 2. The setting of the story contributes to the tone because it is set up
during a dark, cold, windy, snowy night. The overall mood of the story was both gloomy and somber,
which contributes to the tone I think Ting Ling was going for. Everything from the prisoners falling
down in the snow, to the soldiers stomping throughout it, made the tone come alive through the text. 3.
There are many different symbols throughout the story. For the chief executioner, he resembles both
cruelty and oppression whereas the young poet symbolizes innocence and better reform. At the end
when the prisoners are singing to their death, it shows a sense of resistance, which symbolizes the
acceptance of their death. 4. The sound of trampling feet connotes punishment as a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of New Urbanism
Paul Goldberger, an American architectural critic once quoted, Urbanism works when it creates the
journey as desirable as the destination.
New Urbanism refers to an architectural style developed in the United States around the twentieth
century. It may also be addressed as Neotraditional town planning. This style focuses on laying
emphasis on the need for walkable neighbourhoods, complexes infused with pedestrian walkways,
concentration of civic, institutional and commercial activity and designs that cater to the masses, be it
of any age, financial or religious category.

Small roads with interconnecting patterns of streets and sidewalks within the complex, instead of huge
highways surrounding and isolating them, began to be greatly favoured. However, New Urbanism,
too, like all other architectural styles had its drawbacks. Alex Marshall, a journalist, argued that New
Urbanism was essentially a grand fraud, a gimmick, a marketing scheme that repackaged the
conventional suburban sprawl behind the façade of nostalgic imagery and empty aspirational slogans.
In some cases that adopted this style, the span of the complex was so large, that providing only
pedestrian pathways was not feasible and reliance on automobile was constructed. In other cases,
automobiles were allowed inside the complex, maybe a bit too liberally, forcing the design to lose its
essence. Also, some so called New Urbanist designs implement the strategy of segregating spaces
according to function and the connecting them through a couple of bridges plonked here and there. So,
these towns only wear the veil of a New Urbanist town whereas it is actually following the hundred

Twezers Lab Report
The predators in this experiment were three different types of tools, a tweezer, a wooden clothespin,
and a clothes clip. At the start of the first round, there were ten beans for each different type of bean.
Nearly all the white beans were taken out of the first round, only one survived. This was because the
white beans were large, non slippery, and easy to catch. Red beans and green beans were not as easy to
catch. Based on the data and the graph, the tweezers captured the most beans in this round and the
clothes clip had the least (w/ only one white bean). In the second round, every white bean was
captured and many red beans were captured. The green beans were not captured as often as either
other bean. From this, it can be concluded that the tweezers are the only predator that can efficiently
collect green beans based on the graph. As of round two, no other predator has managed to capture a
green bean. Also, the clothes clip captured zero beans this round. From the data so far, it can be
inferred that the tweezers have the highest ability to capture prey, while the clothes clip has the least
(clothespin is in between). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is interesting to point out that the clothes clip has only captured one bean the past two rounds and
had captured nine red beans this round. This is because the clothes clip gained a learned behavior that
allowed it to capture beans much more efficiently. From now on, only green beans are left and this
could mean the extinction of both the clothespin and clothes clip because only the tweezers can
efficiently capture the green beans. This is very demonstrative of the process of natural selection and
how organisms with the advantageous trait for survival will survive and pass on their genes, while
those with disadvantageous traits will not live to

as there is a wide array of instances where the characters face medical related conflicts in their lives.

How Romanticism Has Diminish Throughout Popularity
My part starts by talking about how romanticism had diminish in popularity. The book talks about
how drama was in a period of conflict, in which serious romantics wanted Art to target a sensitive
audience making it more limited. In contrast, extremist wanted to created closet drama which means
that they wanted plays to be read instead of been acted. By 1840s romanticism was no longer a
movement and even though it had effectively ended with neoclassicism it did not changed theatre
completely. Romanticism established the idea of an artist as someone who was exceptional,
sentimental, with great abilities, and inspired. It also established Art as something important just like a
religion. In my opinion, we still share those ideas especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I think that his ideas were fascinating because he tried to go away from the standard idea of assigning
places according to the person s importance in society but rather made the actors the main focus for
everyone. I think of this as a way to make the audience all the same making the actors the only
celebrities in the room. Also the idea that everyone had the same opportunity to the same view went
away By the nineteenth century melodramas and sentimental comedies were popular in commercial
theater. However, reformers saw these plays as a waste of resources because they wanted plays to
portray stories that could be considered more seriously by the audience. The need for more seriousness
in plays eventually lead to the creation of realism. As mentioned by Boime, realism was committed to
reproducing aspects of the unstable world of sensory perception (77). The idea of realism was to
create plays that portrayed everyday life and events. As time changed and more problems in society
emerge, such as industrialization and inequality, plays also transformed. For instance, radical realists
wanted plays to portray this events as a way to not only represent current situations but also as a way
to promote a change for these situations. In other words, the main idea of realism was to question and
challenge the current state of society. We have to think that during this period of time science was
evolving and society was more open to acknowledge it. The

self discipline. While often in the beginning, we do not understand why we conduct these events,

we the members learn these qualities we cannot help but share with all that cross our path in a given
day. Our foundational tools allow us to set examples not only for ourselves and the life we choose to
live, but for all who will observe how Phi Theta Kappa s conduct their lives on campus and off

Could you tell the difference in a painting and a photograph? As time goes on the line between art and
life is blurring. Realism and Photorealism are both art styles with the purpose of capturing a painting
or drawing that looks as realistic as possible. Realism was first came around in the early 1800 s and
stayed popular through most of the 19th century. Just as realism was losing steam, photorealism
started taking root in the art scene. Photorealism, much like realism, depended on the accuracy of the
painting or drawing. However new techniques were introduced during the time of photorealists. Both
realism and photorealism are very challenging art forms and each have their own history.
The realism art movement began in France in 1840, only 40 years after the French Revolution. During
this time France was undergoing many social and economic changes. Back in 1825, France s stock
market crashed and was followed with a financial panic. Then came bad harvests in 1826 leading to
high food prices in the following two winters. The realism movement called for the accurate, detailed,

He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1977. David Jon Kassan mainly uses PanPastel. PanPastel is
a soft chalk that is applied to paper using a palette knife. I ve been using PanPastel now for the past 6
years, I started using them for the basic block ins for my charcoal drawings, because they offer the
artist a painterly expressive approach to handing an otherwise linear approach. In this quote David is
talking about laying down medium tones (not highlights or shadows) with PanPastel. This is one of
the techniques he uses a lot and it allows him to add detail by both taking away and adding color. The
drawing to the left is titled Aubrey. I love this drawing because it shows all of David Kassan s skills
and techniques. This drawing is the definition of

T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia
Introduction
T cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is an aggressive haematological tumour, caused by the
malignant transformation of T cell progenitors. The intrathymic T cell development constitutes the
pathophysiological framework consisting of the basic mechanisms that lead to pathogenesis of T cell
acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (Haydu, 2014).
a) Mode of action of the drugs
Allopurinol
This drug acts by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is required for the oxidation of
hypoxanthine and xanthine, leading to the formation of uric acid. Inhibition of uric acid metabolism
results in an increase in the quantities of both hypoxanthine and xanthine. This drug is used to handle
hyperuricemia in some disease such as goat and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, It counteracts the side effects produced by some of the chemotherapeutic drugs. It also
counteracts the antiemetic effects of 5 HT3receptor antagonists (Harousseau, 2006). (However, the
exact method of Dexamethasone s action still is unknown)
Vincristine
This is a mitotic inhibitor that acts by binding to the tubulin dimmers, thus blocking the assembly of
microtubule structures, which results in the inhibition of cell mitosis in the metaphase. It targets all the
rapidly dividing cells thus inhibiting both cancerous cells and the bone marrow (Graf, 1996).
Daunorubicin
Daunorubicin is an anti tumour drug (anthrocycline), which is originated from streptomyes
coeruleorubidus, which is mainly used for acute non lymphocytic Leukaemia.
It mechanism of action involves the intercalation of DNA, thus inhibiting macromolecular
biosynthesis. It inhibits the enzyme topoisomerase II, which is responsible for relaxing the supercoils
in DNA. It stabilises the topoisomerase II complex after it has un winded the DNA for replication.
This complex prevents the two strands from coming together and sealing, thus preventing replication
and resulting in the induction of apoptosis (Pang, 2013).
Pegylated L asparaginase (Oncaspor)
The asparaginase enzyme decreases the level of asparagines in the blood stream by breaking down of
L asparagine into L aspartic acid and ammonia. It

The Geography of Breakfast Food Essay
A.
Q:Where and how is the breakfast item produced?
A:Coffee is mainly produced on five out of seven continents on coffee plantations.
1. Coffee is one of the most common breakfast items found on any table in the morning and now sold
all throughout the day. Coffee is grown and exported from places like Columbia and the Asian Pacific,
to anywhere like Hawaii and the biggest producer, Brazil. 1/3 of the world s coffee supply comes from
Brazil, because of the nations tropical climate it is able to grow coffee very easily and plentiful. Brazil
had many other types of climates but the hot and tropical one is great for the production of coffee.
2. Most successful companies like Starbucks have started programs to oversee and make sure their
farmers are treated well. C.A.F.E.( Starbucks program) is Coffee and Farmer Equality this program
ensures the farmers safety and the quality if the product. This program has shown to boost
productivity between the company and the grower and between the workers and the owners of the
plantations. Even though this program is in place the workers are still paid poorly. An expert picket
can collect about 6 7 baskets of coffee berries a day, yet they are paid very little. 71% of farms in
Brazil are less than 10 lectares, 25% of them are less than 50 lectares and 4% are more than 50
lectares.*
3. The common irrigation system used on Coffee

Bitcoin Is Becoming Too Stronger
Due to the rapid development of a cryptocurrency environment, the value of Bitcoin is becoming even
stronger. Unlike other digital currency, Bitcoin is constantly showing its positive dynamics in terms of
price and public acceptance. It becomes obvious after recent exchange rate increase, which is 1113.5$
now according to CEX.io.
However, the ever widening popularity of Bitcoin has resulted in more frequent hacking attempts
towards cryptocurrency related service providers. Cryptocurrency exchanges are no stranger to
various hacker attacks aimed at activity disruption and virtual money theft. Being a major bitcoin
pool, they are always subject to cybersecurity risk and threat.

CryptoCurrency Security Standard can make a real breakthrough in the world of digital money if
approved by the public.
While this one for all security approach is under consideration, bitcoin exchanges are working their
way forward. They are getting to grips with the hackers by all appropriate means.
Caution is the parent of safety
Following the lead of the most trusted and reliable platforms, one may define essential security
aspects, which are obligatory for implementation.
Multi factor authentication
Most Bitcoin exchanges employ this strategy to add another level of security to their systems and thus
set additional barriers for intruders. To access the wallet a user needs to go through several phases of
the verification process to be approved by the system. Authentication credentials include information
about something a user knows, possesses and is identified by. Generally, the user identity is validated
after providing a proof in the form of a secret token or one time code together with his username and a
password.
Multisignature
To make Bitcoin transactions safe and hard to intercept, it is essential to apply multi signature
approach. This technology requires the participation of several users while transferring bitcoins from
one account to another. The transaction is finalized only when all involved users confirm it with a

1) Describe briefly the relashonship between Tito and Bimbo. In what way was Tito almost like a dog
and Bimbo almost like a boy ? (2)
While noone had the slightest idea of where this young boy came from, how old he was or even who
his parents were, they had remembered seeing Bimbo right at his side. Bimbo was Tito s everything;
he was his nurse, his mother, his pillow and his father. I think Bimbo acted more like a boy because he
would always bring the food home, and although it had become a regular thing for them, I feel like
Bimbo was more in control that Tito. Tito, on the other hand, never got the food, or even looked for it.
He acts more like dogs, as if theres always going to be food on a silver platter and he just has to wait.

He was starting to make his ways towards the inner gate when Bimbo started biting his clothes. Tito
suddenley realized he was urging him towards the sea gate, as it was safe there. He leaded Tito around
the open pits and pools of bubbling mud, and when Tito got to the sea gate he noticed Bimbo was
missing.
5) Although this is not a happy story, it is not a tragic one. What do we find out at the end of the story
trhat gives us a warm feeling? What do you think Untermeyer is trying to say about human nature? (2)
In the midst of everything that was going on in that particular moment in time, all that was on Bimbo s
thoughts were Tito. I think he had noticed him going alittle pale and not keeping his balance so he
went to the bakery to get him some cake. Untermeyer was trying to show just in general how much an
animal or a human would do to protect someone they truly love. In the end Bimbo died, and although
he was a smart enough dog to know he wouldve, he loved Tito and he sacrificed his life to protect and

  • 3. Symptoms And Treatment Of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome FASDs are defined as an umbrella term describing the range of effects that can occur in an individual whose mother drank alcohol during pregnancy (Caley, Kramer, and Robinson, 2005, p. 139). Alcohol has a teratogenic effect on the brain, and each child inside the uterus is affected differently. FASD is not a clinical diagnosis (Caley et al., 2005). Currently the diagnoses under FASD include fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), partial fetal alcohol syndrome (pFAS), alcohol related neurodevelopmental disorder (ARND), and alcohol related birth defects (ARBD) (Bertrand, 2009). Carpenter (2011) says that A number of factors, such as the pattern and timing of alcohol consumption, the stage of foetal development, and social behavioural factors, such as poverty and smoking, may exacerbate the impact of alcohol (p. 37). In addition to the facial features, other physical effects can include malformations, deficits in motors skills and some children even present with seizures. The cognitive impact can also be very damaging to a child. They can have a learning disability, mental retardation, memory deficits, information processing disorders, a lack of executive functioning skills, can inconsistently perform in abstract and generalizing tasks (they struggle to relate and build upon previous knowledge), and they often lack cognitive flexibility. • 4. Democratic Deficit in the European Union Most voters seem to take the opportunity to give the incumbent national government a good kicking during European elections, as seen in the UK, Spain and France, rather than vote on a broad manifesto of ideas. This is fuelled further by MEPs campaigning on local issues rather than European ones. This is an example of part of the democratic deficit in the European Parliament. To further show how there is a democratic deficit in the European Parliament I will explain how it is largely inaccessible to its European citizens and how the European Parliament lacks the power that it requires to resolve the problems in the Union. I will then describe some unsuccessful attempts at solutions and conclude with some possible future remedies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The balance between these two branches differed from country to country. With the gradual development of the EEC, more and more areas of public policy were transferred from national governments to the community with the result that the overall powers of the executives within member countries of the EU have increased while parliamentary powers have decreased. The main argument is that the parliament is too weak, while the council is too powerful. The executive branches, the Council and the Commission, are not drawn from Parliament and are thus not accountable to it in the way it would be, for example, in the UK through a vote of no confidence. The two branches are completely separate, which can mean that there is not an effective check as there was meant to be. The Parliament is too weak to hold either of the executive branches to account, meaning that they can pass legislation without the consent of the Parliament, except when co decision applies on matters pertaining to qualified majority voting in the Council. Compared to many national and sub national legislatures, the European Parliament has a relatively low profile. In the past, some scholars of the European Union judged it to be less important than other governing institutions of the Union. However, since the mid 1980 s the European Parliament has undergone many substantial changes, probably more than any other major European Union body. The Parliament s ... • 5. Grounded Theory Essay The use of illicit substances has become increasing common in schizophrenia (Asher Gask, 2010). Illicit substance use by persons with a diagnosis of schizophrenia has long been associated with increased severity of psychosis, psychiatric hospital inpatient admissions, higher rates of readmission and poor treatment outcomes (Asher Gask, 2010; Charles Weaver, 2010; Hambrecht Hafner, 1996; Swofford, Kasckow, Scheller Gilkey Inderbitzin, 1996). It has also been acknowledged that persons diagnosed with schizophrenia are more likely to use illicit substances within their lifetime than the general population, with rates of comorbid substance use fluctuating from 15 to 65% in persons diagnosed with schizophrenia (Charles Weaver, 2010; Malchow et al, 2012). There are sufficient sales of vacant lots within 3 miles of the subject property. Seven suitable vacant lot sales were selected and analyzed to estimate indicated subject s lot value (table_ 1). The analysis uses a per sq. ft. unit in valuing the site. The vacant lots were sold March to October of 2013. Lots attribute such as lot size, lot shape, topography, Resource Protected Area (RPA), zoning which is density of development allowed per acre of land, and traffic patterns were analyzed. The report used the Fairfax County digital maps of property, resource protected area, and topography maps. In addition, aerial photography data was used to determine the level of traffic in areas surrounding each lot. The comparable lot sales are similar to the subject in term of land features such as lot shape, land use, topography, and traffic patterns. The main differences in the comparable lots are observed in terms of lot size, RPA, and zoning (density of development allowed per acre of land). This report originally selected twenty one vacant or lots with old buildings which were subsequently razed and replaced with newer and larger contemporary homes. INTRODUCTION 1.0 BACKGROUND TO STUDY Land use development patterns (also called urban form, built environment, community design, spatial development, and urban geography) is referred to as the human use of the earth s surface, including the location, type and design of infrastructure such as roads and buildings. Land use patterns can have diverse economic, social and environmental impacts and some are more accessible and so reduce transportation costs to businesses and consumers. Transportation on the other hand is the movement of people, information and goods from one location to another. The specific purpose of transportation is to fulfill a demand for mobility, since transportation can only exists if it moves people, freight and information around. Otherwise it has no purpose. Since the 18th century till now, urbanization, multinational corporations, the globalization of trade and the international division of labor are all forces shaping and taking advantage of transportation at different, but often related, scales. Consequently, the fundamental purpose of transport is geographic in nature, because it facilitates movements between different locations. Transport thus plays a role in the structure and organization of space and territories, which may vary according to the level of development. • 10. Analysis Of Helft Mir Ihr Schwestern Helft mir, ihr Schwestern is song number five from Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe und leben. The song cycle was set to the text of a poem cycle of the same name by Adelbert von Chamisso. Each poem in the cycle provides a glimpse into the story of a woman falling in love with a man, getting engaged and married to him, getting pregnant and having a child, becoming a widow and finally sharing her life story with her granddaughter. At the time that Schumann wrote this song cycle, he was going through a legal battle with his future wife s father over the right to marry her. This poem cycle contains themes of love, devotion, and longing that Schumann could personally relate with his feelings for Clara Wieck, who would soon become Clara Schumann. In this essay, I will demonstrate how Frauenliebe und leben is directly reflective of Robert Schumann s own life experiences. In so doing, I will be analyzing the ways in which Schumann set the music in a fashion that emphasized the structure and emotional content of the poetry. In order to better understand the context of Robert Schuman s setting of Helft mir, ihr Schwestern, I will first provide a general analysis of the song cycle as a whole. As Schumann set music to the various poems, he shifted the tonality to closely related keys, such as a fourth or fifth away, or shifting the relative or parallel major and minor keys. These shifts in tonality help emphasis the emotional development of the main character of the poems. The song cycle begins with a relatively slow and reflective song in the key of Bb major, where the main subject of the poem cycle first describes her feelings of intense, blind love for a man. The next song shifts the tonal center up a fourth to the key of Eb. In this song, the woman raises the man of her affection up on a pedestal of high praise, while she demeans herself to a lowly maid. Song three, moves the tonality to the relative minor of the previous song, C minor. This song is about the woman s disbelief that the man she adored so highly has fallen in love with her, and Schumann reflects that disbelief by making the music more erratic in tempo. He also emphasizes the disbelief by repeating the complete last stanza and then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sherlock Holmes By Arthur Conan Doyle To begin with, the first indispensable step in the research should be devoted to the Scottish writer sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the famous Victorian detective Sherlock Holmes. The fact that Conan Doyle was not the first detective writer is definitely worth mentioning. The founder of the detective genre is considered to be the American writer Edgar Allan Poe. The story of detective fiction oficially started in 1841 when Poe published his The Murders in the Rue Morgue (Kopley 31). This famous story established literary conventions which are used in detective fiction till the present time. The main character of Poe`s novels, the Paris detective C. Arthur Conan Doyle devoted his famous quotation to Poe: Each [of Poe s detective stories] is a root from which a whole literature has developed... Where was the detective story until Poe breathed the breath of life into it? (Dawn 323). • 16. Cost Benefits Of Cost Benefit Analysis Cost Benefit Analysis Raviteja Turaga Dr. Hammad Elbedour Analysis, Modelling and Design Date: 06/03/2016. Cost Benefit Analysis Cost benefit analysis is an economic evaluation whether to go ahead with the project depending on the benefits attained from the invested amount on the project (cost). To perform this analysis, all the inputs (cost) and outputs (benefits) should be measured in the same unit of measurement and at the same time. Generally, the measurement unit is money (usually dollar). We need to measure these at the same time because the dollar value changes time to time. While evaluating the cost benefit analysis we need to take both the tangible and intangible costs in to consideration and classify the costs in one time cost and recurring costs. So these onetime costs and recurring costs need to have relation with time depending on the length of the project. Need to determine the fixed costs and variable costs in both onetime cost and recurring cost. We need to have the relation between time and money as we determine the costs, benefits and useful life of the project is determined on present day, to have a successful cost benefit analysis. We need to maintain a record for all these costs. The most commonly used Cost benefit analysis are: 1. Net Present Value (NPV): It uses cost of capital and discount rate to determine the present value of the project. 2. Return of Investment (ROI): It is the ratio of net cash receipts of the project divided ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Zhou Dynasty, an early Chinese empire, ruled to around the beginning of the Han Dynasty. Their government was based on feudalism; this giving power to the rich in their society. Overextension led to the fall of their rule, leading to the rise of Confucianism and Legalism. These beliefs along with Taoism led to the warring states period, these views leading to the start of the Qin Dynasty and then to the Confucianist Han Dynasty. Like the beginning of the Han Dynasty, the Roman Empire began with nobility rule. A difference would be that the Roman Republic s fall had more to do with the tension between the classes. The Parthenon And The Marbles The Parthenon is located on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece; is a former temple which was dedicated to Greek goddess Athena, whom the Athens considered their leader. According to the British Museum (2015), The Parthenon was built nearly 2500 years ago and has a long and complex history. After thousands of years it became a church of the Virgin Mary of the Athenians, then a mosque and then finally resulted in a archaeological ruin. After the result of a ruin, the buildings were reformed in which various sculptures were damaged. During the 1800 s after the Parthenon being damaged, the Elgin marbles (Elgin) a part of the remaining sculpture, was removed and given to a British museum. For hundreds of years there has been a question if the British museum should return the Elgin marbles back to the Athenians or not. I believe that that the safest and most beneficial place for the Elgin marbles is the British museum, therefore the British should not return the marble to the Athenians. In contrast to what I believe, other individuals would counter my belief. One counter argument I could receive from other individuals would be that the Parthenon is missing the Elgin marbles which is a very significant piece for their culture, since it represents their goddess Athena. Others would argue that the sculpture looks incomplete without its Elgin marbles (Elgin), so therefore the British museum should return the Elgin marbles to Athens. • 22. Social Welfare Policy Of America Social welfare policy that is seen throughout America today has roots that are hundreds of years old. The modern policy in America has been based on five fundamental traditions that were brought from Britain when they colonized North America. Those five traditions are Calvinism, Localism, controlling the mobility of the workforce, reliance on poor houses and work houses, and less eligibility. These traditions will be defined and then connected to the influence they have had on the modern American social policy. Calvinism is the first social policy tradition that the British brought to America with them. The idea of Calvinism allowed the poor to be understood per their character. When working hard and prospering an individual was destined to be rich; however, if an individual was poor and suffering that was what they were destined to be. Calvinism brought light to the idea that an individual s station could be improved if they were hard working and had the capability to save money. While the social mobility was suggested, Calvinism also looked at poverty in a way that had to with the poor individual s moral failings as the cause of the poverty that the individual experienced (Blau Abramovitz, 2014). In modern social welfare policy, Calvinism can be seen during President Reagan s time in office. He saw those that failed and were relying on social welfare programs as getting what they deserve. During his time in office, he condemned most of the social welfare programs, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Coalbed methane refers to methane that is produced in association with coal, and CBM reserves are located wherever large deposits of coal are found. CBM is formed through organic decomposition, and it adheres to the many surfaces of the coal until it is released through natural or man made processes. • 26. Starbucks Vs. Executive Of Starbucks Howard Schlutz CEO and Chairman of Starbucks proved that dreams do come true. Starbucks Coffee Company is the textbook example proving that passion and drive are enough to start an effective business project. Starbucks bred progressively from one little homegrown business in Seattle to an international coffee giant. From the beginning, the company had a different aura to it. It is not a traditional entrepreneurship, in the sense that Howard got the idea from the owners of the original Starbucks in Seattle. But Howard s vision to bring the romance of coffee is what made him prosper. It was not about the profits for him, it was about celebrating coffee and its rich tradition. He s the man who globalized coffee. A defining moment, in the early history of Starbucks was when Howard bought Starbucks from his previous employers in 1987. Here, he was faced with problems of merging two companies and transforming them into one successful business. Starbucks is not only about the positives. From 1987 to 1989 Starbucks had a losing streak. Schultz never strayed from his original purpose and battled through the storm, laying a strong foundation for his company. The crossroads in Schultz s life is his capability to foretell the future and trust in fate. One of the greatest lessons learned from his story is that, as a strategic component in entrepreneurship, pursuing an opportunity fused with desire can yield magnificent products. Frederick Douglass Rhetoric In an autobiography called Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: An American Slave, written by himself, the author asserts that the way to enslave someone is to probit he or she from all learning. Douglass supports his claim by first, learning to read and second, by gaining his freedom. His purpose is to influence change in order to abolish slavery by using ethos, logos, and pathos. Based on the purpose of the book as well as the stories he tells, Douglass is writing to influence powerful people to abolish the horrible reality known as slavery; developing a sympathetic relationship with the audience. Although slavery was common and many people thought nothing of it, Douglass realized that the real way to enslave someone was to keep them from all learning, which is proven throughout the book. Frederick Douglass sympathizes with the audience through his experiences in slavery. Douglass was kept from learning even the simplest of things. For example, The White children could tell their ages. I could not tell why I ought to be deprived of the same privilege. I was not allowed to make any inquiries of my master concerning it... (Douglass 1). Slaves did not need to know their age because it was unimportant. Meaning, slaves were only needed to complete tasks in the eyes of slave owners. You can also look at the Orlando Florida shooting last year which killed 49 and had 58 wounded (Linnane). Shootings in America have become more and more frequent, and it seems to some people that nowhere is safe. The examples given were at a concert, a bar and a church. Well, due to the amount of guns in America, the lack of Mental Health Care, and the ease of obtaining a weapon, mass shootings are increasing with more lives being lost. It was bold in that it was a very controversial way of dealing with the problem. No rational human being would propose cannibalism as a solution to homelessness, but it s use is effective as a voice that stands out and causes people to think about what he is dealing with. By suggesting cannibalism, Swift draws on one of the most wide spread taboos in the world to repulse his audience into realizing that homelessness was a serious problem. This style focuses on laying emphasis on the need for walkable neighbourhoods, complexes infused with pedestrian walkways, concentration of civic, institutional and commercial activity and designs that cater to the masses, be it of any age, financial or religious category. In some cases that adopted this style, the span of the complex was so large, that providing only pedestrian pathways was not feasible and reliance on automobile was constructed. In other cases, automobiles were allowed inside the complex, maybe a bit too liberally, forcing the design to lose its essence. Also, some so called New Urbanist designs implement the strategy of segregating spaces according to function and the connecting them through a couple of bridges plonked here and there. At the start of the first round, there were ten beans for each different type of bean. Nearly all the white beans were taken out of the first round, only one survived. This was because the white beans were large, non slippery, and easy to catch. Red beans and green beans were not as easy to catch. Based on the data and the graph, the tweezers captured the most beans in this round and the clothes clip had the least (w/ only one white bean). In the second round, every white bean was captured and many red beans were captured. The green beans were not captured as often as either other bean. From this, it can be concluded that the tweezers are the only predator that can efficiently collect green beans based on the graph. As of round two, no other predator has managed to capture a green bean. Also, the clothes clip captured zero beans this round. By 1840s romanticism was no longer a movement and even though it had effectively ended with neoclassicism it did not changed theatre completely. Also the idea that everyone had the same opportunity to the same view went away By the nineteenth century melodramas and sentimental comedies were popular in commercial theater. However, reformers saw these plays as a waste of resources because they wanted plays to portray stories that could be considered more seriously by the audience. The need for more seriousness in plays eventually lead to the creation of realism. As mentioned by Boime, realism was committed to reproducing aspects of the unstable world of sensory perception (77). The idea of realism was to create plays that portrayed everyday life and events. As time changed and more problems in society emerge, such as industrialization and inequality, plays also transformed. Realism and Photorealism are both art styles with the purpose of capturing a painting or drawing that looks as realistic as possible. Realism was first came around in the early 1800 s and stayed popular through most of the 19th century. Just as realism was losing steam, photorealism started taking root in the art scene. Photorealism, much like realism, depended on the accuracy of the painting or drawing. However new techniques were introduced during the time of photorealists. Both realism and photorealism are very challenging art forms and each have their own history. The realism art movement began in France in 1840, only 40 years after the French Revolution. During this time France was undergoing many social and economic changes. Back in 1825, France s stock market crashed and was followed with a financial panic. Then came bad harvests in 1826 leading to high food prices in the following two winters. The realism movement called for the accurate, detailed, unembellished depiction of nature or of ... PanPastel is a soft chalk that is applied to paper using a palette knife. In this quote David is talking about laying down medium tones (not highlights or shadows) with PanPastel. This is one of the techniques he uses a lot and it allows him to add detail by both taking away and adding color. The drawing to the left is titled Aubrey. The intrathymic T cell development constitutes the pathophysiological framework consisting of the basic mechanisms that lead to pathogenesis of T cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (Haydu, 2014). a) Mode of action of the drugs Allopurinol This drug acts by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is required for the oxidation of hypoxanthine and xanthine, leading to the formation of uric acid. Inhibition of uric acid metabolism results in an increase in the quantities of both hypoxanthine and xanthine. This drug is used to handle hyperuricemia in some disease such as goat and ... It also counteracts the antiemetic effects of 5 HT3receptor antagonists (Harousseau, 2006). (However, the exact method of Dexamethasone s action still is unknown) Vincristine This is a mitotic inhibitor that acts by binding to the tubulin dimmers, thus blocking the assembly of microtubule structures, which results in the inhibition of cell mitosis in the metaphase. It targets all the rapidly dividing cells thus inhibiting both cancerous cells and the bone marrow (Graf, 1996). Daunorubicin Daunorubicin is an anti tumour drug (anthrocycline), which is originated from streptomyes coeruleorubidus, which is mainly used for acute non lymphocytic Leukaemia. It mechanism of action involves the intercalation of DNA, thus inhibiting macromolecular biosynthesis. It inhibits the enzyme topoisomerase II, which is responsible for relaxing the supercoils in DNA. It stabilises the topoisomerase II complex after it has un winded the DNA for replication. This complex prevents the two strands from coming together and sealing, thus preventing replication and resulting in the induction of apoptosis (Pang, 2013). Pegylated L asparaginase (Oncaspor) The asparaginase enzyme decreases the level of asparagines in the blood stream by breaking down of L asparagine into L aspartic acid and ammonia. It ...
