Acute Real Failure
The diagnosis of acute renal failure (ARF), also referred to as acute kidney injury (AKI), encompasses
a wide ranging continuum of acute renal pathologies that are characterized by sudden deterioration of
kidney function. This results in abrupt aberrations in fluid, electrolyte, and acid base balance,
nitrogenous waste removal, creatinine clearance, and glomerular filtration rate. ARF or AKI is
subdivided into three general categories based on the etiology. Again, aging alone, without the
presence of any comorbidities, is associated with an increased susceptibility to ARF. This is due to
deterioration of renal blood flow with age and consequent decrease in glomerular filtration rate (GFR).
This is probably because, with these changes, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
intracellular potassium ion gradient is fundamental to the establishment of the resting membrane
potential in excitable cells (neurons and muscle cells) is necessary in order to appreciate how
hyperkalemia (excess extracellular K) disrupts this delicate balance. Because of the loss of this
potassium gradient, excitable cells become hypopolarized, and are therefore less responsive to stimuli
(action potentials). This results in muscle weakness and flaccid paralysis that progresses in an
ascending pattern. The main concern with hyperkalemia is its implication on the cardiac system
(Copstead Banasik, 2013). Hyperkalemia that exceeds 6.0 mEq/L can be fatal because of its
depressant effects on myocardial activity. This is demonstrated on an ECG tracing with the
disappearance of the P wave, extended T wave and QRS segment, and depressed ST segment. Should
this happen, the client is an emergent situation and immediate measures must be taken to reduce serum
potassium to prevent cardiac arrest (Osborn, et al. 2014). This patient s serum potassium was 6.1
mEq/L on arrival, which placed at an extremely high risk for cardiac dysfunction. He was immediately
given a combination of immediate and longer acting medications to lower his serum potassium

Human Cloning Is Not Your Twin
Imagine walking down the street and seeing someone who looks exactly like you. Sam hair, same eyes
same everything. So now you start to question yourself, Is that my brother or is that my sister am I
twin. That would be cool right. Now you are planning out all the fun things you guys are going to do.
But sorry to burst your bubble but no you do not have an identical twin. So the question is what is it,
because this thing that is standing in front of me looks exactly like me. By now you are all saying am
crazy because if am going to say that someone who looks exactly like you is not your twin then am
crazy. But yes it is not your twin. So my topic today is not about identical twin my topic today is
Human cloning.
Now I know that all of you know and have seen identical twins. And at some point you all wonder
what would it be like to have a twin, what would it be like to have someone look exactly like you?
Now with scientist experiment and finding new results in cloning how long will it be before they clone
a human. I want to ask you guy will there be another you?
I have been fascinated with human biology for as long as I can remember. Being in the nursing field is
so interesting. Learning about the human body is just amazing. Scientists have been experimenting on
human cloning for a while now. I have read articles on the topic for example the article Human
cloning and the myth of disenchantment by Laurentiu Staicu discusses the arguments the came about

The Calling to Find a Cure provided an informative interview with Jonas Salk. It told the story of the
creation of the polio vaccine through the eyes of its creator. Salk also describes his childhood and the
events that lead up to his medical breakthrough.

Ancient Greek Astronomy
Many ancient civilizations had their own beliefs about the stars and the universe. Some examples of
these intelligent civilizations were the Ancient Babylonians, Middle Eastern civilizations, Central
American civilizations, Ancient Chinese, and the Ancient Greeks. The Ancient Babylonians studied
patterns on Venus which were later continued by Galileo and Copernicus. People from the Middle
East, Central America, and China watched the skies and made many observations and predictions of
movement in the heavens. There were many famous Philosophers and Astronomers from the Ancient
Greek civilizations who studied the sky. They searched for patterns and numbers to find something
fundamental. Thinkers attempted to come up with combinations of uniform circular motions that
would prove their already observed irregular motions. Aristotle was a Greek philosopher who thought
that the moon, sun, and other planets rotated around the stationary Earth. But, as we know today, his
theory was incorrect. Some other Greek philosophers attempted to measure the distance to the moon
and even tried to find the size of the universe! They found the universe to be finite. On the other and,
Claudius Ptolemy believed that the heavens (skies) were not made of rocks, metal, or other Earthy
materials, but that they were made of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Post-Soviet Reemergence of the Russian Empire
The 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union signified an end to Russia s control over its Middle Eastern
Empire. Many of its states seceded and founded new nations and Russia lost significant power over
the region. The new Russian Federation, in an effort to reestablish Soviet supremacy, has launched a
neo imperialistic campaign to once again have political, economic and security control over the area
today known as the Caucasus. Principally, Russia wants to have political control over the area
consisting of the lands of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Georgia and Chechnya as well as the
Caspian Sea. Furthermore, it is an objective to reap profit from this resource rich area to stabilize
Russia s economy. Additionally, Russia wants to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Russia s imperialistic actions over the Southern Tier nations have not just been a nostalgic attempt to
salvage its old empire. The Caspian Sea, the world s largest landlocked body of water bordered by
Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, may sit on as much as 200 billion barrels or
oil which would be 16% of the Earth s potential oil reserves. (Sciolino, 1998, pg. 16) A 1998 New
York Times article estimated that at that time this amount of oil would add up to $3 trillion. (Sciolino,
1998, pg. 16) It is obvious that Russia would like to exploit a considerable share of this wealth. The
exploitation of the Caspian Sea depends on pipeline transport of oil and Russia would like to see these
pipelines run through their land on their way to international markets to harness some of the profit.
(Akiner, 2000, pg. 146) This profit, as well as economic control over the Southern Tier region, is
another important motive in Russia s resurgent scheme.
Russia has used several mechanisms in its campaign to restore the soviet economic space. Primarily
Russia has attempted to assert control over the Caspian Sea in order to gain a large share of its
resources. When in 1994 Azerbaijan concluded what is called the contract of the century with an
international oil consortium Russia called the whole thing illegal. (Hottelet, 1995, pg. 19) Russia
argued that the Caspian was a lake in

Vasco Da Gama Research Paper
Vasco da Gama During the 15th century, venturing into the sea was treacherous. The uncharted waters
contained violent storms, hideous sea monsters with thirteen arms, and most importantly, the crew
could die from scurvy. However, due to Vasco da Gama s raw courage and undaunted personality, the
Portugal s long awaited journey trade route to India was accomplished as well as the spread of
Christianity. Although the exact date was unknown, Vasco da Gama was welcomed into the world in
around 1460 in Sines, Portugal. Vasco was the third son of Estevao da Gama and Dona Isabel Sodre.
The da Gama family were minor aristocrats, and Vasco s father, Estevao da Gama, was the captain of
the fortress at Sines. Even though his father and his grandfather were soldiers, Vasco da Gama s

Nevertheless, Bartolomeu accomplished a trip where he rounded the Cape of Good Hope, which is the
southern tip of Africa. In 1495, King John II passed away six years after Bartolomeu Dias s
achievement, and the late king s cousin, Manuel I, took power. Even though Manuel was only twenty
four years old, he wanted to expand Portugal s trade routes. Instead of Bartolomeu Dias taking the
honor of the captain of the fleet, Manuel surprisingly chose the thirty seven year old da Gama.
According to Gaspar Correa, an eyewitness that was in court that day described how Manuel chose da
Gama that day as the captain of the fleet. One day the king, sitting in his hall of business at a table
with his officers, giving orders, by chance... raised his eyes, and Vasco da Gama happened to cross

Essay on Hero
When someone is characterized as a hero they are often someone, who is very selfless, brave and is of
distinguished valor. They challenge people to some how or another follow in their footsteps, and are
often models to our society. Often inspiring and showing them that no matter what they should reach
for the stars. Hero s strive to find the best in people and not just in them.
Men such as Siddhartha, Moses and the Great Odysseus each show their special qualities of heroes,
and all were of admirable accomplishments. These great men gave us hope when we thought there
was none, and helped us realize that life isn t just about helping yourself, it s about helping man kind.

Odysseus shows and displays his courage and fearlessness to us even when all the odds are against
him. With all of that he still was able to beat the odds and return home and save his family from the
horrible suitors, taking over his home.
We come to understand Odysseus through his trial and tribulations, we see him as a great man, a man
who is a great conqueror and from this we begin to see him as a hero.
So what kind of hero Is Odysseus? We are shown that in some ways he is almost a tragic hero, this is
because always is just an inch away from reaching the goal of getting home and then something
happens so he is pulled far away again. Odysseus is put through so much for such a long period of
time yet he still manages to overcome it and become a great hero.
Searching for knowledge we meet Siddhartha, a man who gives up everything for his goal of finding
nirvana and himself. The only thing Siddhartha uses to reach his goal are his senses. All he wants to be
is himself, but his sense is being covered by his knowledge. It is during this time Siddhartha finally
realizes that he doesn t know his quot;self quot; and now see that he has avoided finding it his whole
life. We are shown that part of the journey he goes through is realizing that even though he has great
knowledge, it isn t enough without the experience. He realizes that experience can be gained through
practicing knowledge, not just thinking you have the

The Origins Of Sandwich Panels
2. Background and literature review Many books and articles provide systematic information about a
range of aspects of sandwich panels. Some studies has addressed creep behavior for one or two
typically used sandwich panels in construction industry. This part of the thesis will provided
background knowledge of sandwich panels, as well as developed equations based on different theories
about creep behavior of sandwich panels. Other specific aspects about creep in sandwich panels will
also be included, such as temperature influence in creep behavior. 2.1 Origins and development The
origins of sandwich construction can be found in many book which introduce these type of structure.
Although Noor, Burton, and Bert (1849, cited in Vinson 1999) state the basic concept of sandwich
construction in 19th century, the sandwich construction is relatively new concept and firstly be used in
aerospace industry (Davies 2001). The development of technology in sandwich construction is driven
by special demand of the shell of spacecraft or aircraft, which is light in weight yet strong enough to
sustain huge air pressure in acceleration or landing. A perfect example of this application is Apollo
space ship, which successful landed on the moon on 20 July 1969.The wall construction of Apollo
capsule was made by two interconnected sandwich shells, and each of them has a honeycomb core.

Essay on Book of Job
The Book of Job
The Book of Job has been praised but also neglected all at the same time. Its literary work is written in
a poetry sense with a prose format and considered one of the greatest pieces of literature of all time.
The Book of Job is one of first book of five generally called The Books of Poetry , which contain Job,
Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon. The Book of Job is written in the Old
Testament of the Hebrew Bible and the main theme that is seeks out is Why does God allow the
righteous to suffer? First of all I will be talking about the origins and history of the book, and then I
will give a brief summary on the story and theme of what the Book of Job is addressing. I will then be

They then say that God is just and that his sons and daughters had died because of their own sins.
Then God appears before Job and curses him asking why he was not there when he created the world
or why he isn t omnipotent. God goes on about how Job dares question God s power, wisdom and
decisions. God continues to pound him with questions and Job apologizes for questioning God and
finally repents to God. God then addresses Job s three friends and tells them that they have angered
God and they have to offer seven bulls and seven rams to clear their wrongdoings against God. After
all the repenting and prayers, God then gives back all of Job s losses, blessing him with twice the
number of livestock he had before and blessing Job with seven sons and three daughters. Job goes on
to live joyously for another 140 years before dying.
The prologue of the book, set in prose style, is made up of chapters one and two with the introduction
of Job and his family and how successful he is and that he is blessed by God wonderfully. It goes into
Job s first test which Satan presents himself before the lord. God said to Satan, Have you considered
my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God
and shuns evil (Job 1:8). This is when Satan puts up the challenge for God saying, Does Job fear God
for nothing? Have you not put a hedge around him and his

Kelo vs New London
Kelo vs City of New London The Kelo vs City of New London case is one that was decided by the
Supreme Court of the United States with the issue involving eminent domain. Eminent domain is the
transfer of property from one private party (Kelo) to a public party (City of New London), with proper
compensation. The case brought to light the difference between what is considered to be public use
and what is the best public purpose. Susette Kelo and fellow property owners owned property that was
condemned by the city of New London to be used as further economic development. The properties
were taken from the owners due to the fact a pharmaceutical company named Pfizer Inc, was planning
to build a facility in the area which gave the New ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main argument presented by O Conner involved the Constitution on how the citizens have
protection from the government abusing their power against eminent domain. She presented an
argument on how it s like a reverse Robin Hood because the rich take from the poor and give back to
the rich. If the City of New London was to be allowed to do this that other cities all over the United
States would be doing the same and that this would become the norm giving homeowners no rights
and no protection against this happening. Homeowners would then be given the sense that no private
property is safe from eminent domain seizures. The majority opinion I feel like changed the way they
looked at the Fifth Amendment to the best public purpose not the best public use of the land in order
to justify their ruling. I also feel like their ruling left the door open to many more eminent domain
cases because they didn t create a fine line between what was to be considered to be legal and illegal. I
feel like the minority was also correct in saying that this will be considered the norm and therefor
taking away the rights given to property owners through the constitution. I also couldn t find anywhere
that it was stated that there were negotiations for the property; I did find in an article that the plaintiffs
in the case were not hold outs. Either the NLDC should have purchased the property rights from the
owners or the City of New London should have to achieve the most efficient

Causes Of Delinquency And Crime
The scientific study of the causes of delinquency and crime has been factually guided by theories thus
far. A good theory is said to provide an initial view through which one can construe and comprehend
the exhibition of any behavior(s). In the field of criminology, theoretical views have been primarily
guided by ideas associated with the fields of psychology, sociology, and biology. The behavior(s) to be
explained are stereotypical behavior(s) that violate the social norms of today s society. According to
Regis University some secluded theories have provided pragmatic understanding into the importance
of factors apparent and they are likely to explain delinquency and crime, no single theory can fully
explain all types of crime and delinquency or all the variations in crime and delinquency which is why
there are multiple ones.
Controversial to many sociologists the routine activity theory developed by Lawrence E. Cohen and
Marcus Felson in 1979 is a sub field of crime opportunity theory and provides a macro perspective
that focuses on crime as an event. It highlights the relation to space and time and emphasizes its
ecological nature. It also gives the view on crime as to how changes in social and economic conditions
can influence the overall crime and victimization rates. This theory is one of the most commonly cited
and influential theoretical concepts in the field of criminology (Miro, 2014).

On top of chasing an incredibly fragmented and disparate storyline, Barthelme incorporates or rather

Analysis Of I Too By Langston Hughes
From freedom of speech, to freedom of religion, here in America, issues are also freed to hidden
behind the phrase freedom. The statement of freedom like free flowing words on the page of poem,
contains various definitions like different possible interpretations of a poem. While at the time for
Langston Hughes, his definition of freedom was chained by the pigment of his skin. As he
acknowledges his conflict with freedom while struggling against racism, Langston Hues in his poem I
Too, expresses how the issue of racism has been understated in America through the usage of euphony,
free verse and enjambment, depicting that the existence of freedom that was promised by America is
incomplete.
Through the usage of euphony, Hughes softly calls out the matter of racism, an issue is barely touched
on in America today. At the time I Too was written in 1925, this soft call depicts the fear and
suppression the darker brother (Hughes) of America faced. While the euphony created by the patterns
of the lines But I laugh/ And eat well,/ And grow strong (Hughes) portrays their nonviolent protest
against this untouched oppressive force of racism, today, the euphony behind the positive dictions
such as company (Hughes) in this poem presents the issue as if it is simply the difference between
ea[ting] in the kitchen or eating at the table. The usage of euphony depicts that the issue of racism is
easier said than done, for that the issue was never solved but only modernized. Hence, this parallel
emphasizes how understated the issue of racism is in America, while at the same time contradicting
the reality of the issue
In addition, because euphony is used throughout the poem, Hughes stresses that between the
difference of color, the same patriotic language is spoken, for that he too, sing America (Hughes) in
the same National Anthem in the same euphonious tone. However, the participation of this singing is
still has not euphoniously provide him a seat at the American table. By hiding him in the kitchen,
America hides racism in the kitchen, to create the look of a euphonious table as mocked by the way
this poem hides it behind its euphonious words.
To further echo the understated issue of racism, Hughes uses

Dichotomy In Public Administration
In my own opinion, the distinction on an aspect of administration and the political dichotomy is both
workable and also it is practical. The reason as to why I am saying this is that first, the two aspects in
the field of government running are very necessary (Goodnow Books, 2016). In order for the
government to carry out its operations for the better of the general public who are the core principles
in a public administration, it is of important to have the two aspects in place for the leaders in
government to operate as required in order to yield the best results of their services to the public
expectations. The two are in a dichotomy situation but however, there is a way that they can be
integrated and used concurrently to yield better results in government operations in its leadership
process.
To have this aspect of practicability and workability of the distinction, let us first examine each of the
two aspects separately then from there we get to see the integration of the two to bring out an effective
operational platform of the two.
First, let us think of an administration. We all know and appreciate that for an effective and efficient
leadership, there needs to be a strong leadership and also the management characteristics of the
administration in place need to be performing greatly (Association for Politics and the Life Sciences
(U.S.), 2017). Another aspect that is supposed to be considered in the field of public administration
and specifically government

Writing An Assignment On The Generating Ideas
Good afternoon everyone!
I cannot believe this is week four already. This class has gone by so fast! While I am still in the
process of completing my final essay, I believe I am far enough along that I can discuss my writing
process. I have writing anxiety and I am sure I am not the only one in here that feels that way. When I
wrote the Generating Ideas assignment on my writing process, I compared my writing anxiety to what
a person feels prior to a dental procedure or having surgery. I used to cope by avoidance. I would
procrastinate until the very last minute. That level of deadline stress combined with the apprehension
of writing in general compounded my panic level. This is not a good thing and the results were less
than adequate. Over

The Chimney Sweeper Compare And Contrast
Throughout world history their have been and are many occurrences of society corruption and
oppression of masses, such as the forcing of small children to sweep chimneys. Thus, William Blake s
Purpose in writing the two The Chimney Sweeper poems was to express his outrage at society for
having oppressed and stolen the innocence of powerless children in forcing them to sweep. Both
poems are similar in that he uses the actions and view point of the child speaker to express his rage
against society, mostly through his verbal irony. However, the poems distinct in that one shares the
view point of an innocent child who hasn t yet fully experienced the corruption of society , whereas
the other one is one of a more experienced child who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the dream is full of irony in the readers eyes since they can see it has benefited the child in
no shape, way or form; it has only made them believe the church will be their savior so they can
willingly work for the church. Thus implementing, that society is so corrupt it brainwashes the
children to make them believe it is their duty to sweep your chimneys, thus depriving them of
individual rights without their consent. The second The Chimney Sweeper poem although it shares the
same setting and fury as Blake s point of view, the ultimate contrast is the speakers view point; that of
a more experienced sweeper who fully understands the cruel reality of his situation. Thus unlike the
first poem where the poets viewpoint is implemented, in this one his anger is stated bluntly, which
creates a harsh portray of chimney sweeping to the readers. Unlike the first poem where he names the
child, here the speaker is only portrayed as a black thing among the snow thus depicting the neglect of
society to view these children as actual citizens. Also, the among the snow depicts a symbol of purity,
however him being a black thing shows that his hardships have rid him from his

Most organizations, that maintain a sales force, believe in just two approaches to advancing the sales
skills of their sales team: The Minimalist Approach and the Process Approach. Few, if any, ever
consider the impact emotions have on sales success. Before we talk about he value of emotion in the
sales process, lets make sure we understand what is involved in the two, most popular, sales training
methods. A brief explanation of the Minimalist and the Process sales approach may properly set the
stage for a productive discussion about what is really needed to grow a World Class sales team.
The Minimalist Approach
This approach may best be exemplified by a story about my own entry into the sales profession, nearly
half a century ago. I was 17 and getting ready for the summer between my Junior and Senior year in
High School. For the previous 4 summers I had worked in the local grain elevator shoveling wheat,
sacking and stacking feed and seed in the warehouse and emptying boxcars filled with grain. All good
solid jobs but no real

Compare And Contrast Existentialism And Nihilism
Let s say that you had to choose to believe in one of the following schools of philosophies:
Existentialism and Nihilism. What would you choose? You wouldn t take a long time deciding
because these two are significantly different from one another. Existentialism is when you appreciate
life and you live your life passionately; believing that your actions will determine your fate and
therefore you can change it. Nihilism however, is the exact opposite. Anything that restrains you from
living your life to the fullest is considered to be nihilistic and you just believe in nothing because at
the end that s worthless. In Grendel, the two most dominant schools of philosophy presented are
Existentialism and Nihilism because Grendel spends a significant ... Show more content on

answer them back but all that came out from his mouth was a loud roar which scared and terrified the
Danes and built up a misunderstanding. The Danes misinterpreted Grendel s intentions and kept
attacking every time Grendel tried to communicate. Throughout the novel, we also see how Grendel
passes through the three stages of existentialism designed by the 19th century philosopher,
Kierkegaard. The three stages are called aesthetic and ethical stage and the enlightenment. The first
stage is the aesthetic stage, where one simply acts in whichever way they wish to as long as it brings
them happiness and pleasure. We see this happen to Grendel as well when... The second stage is

Essay The Sputnik Launch
The world has experienced very many huge moments, such big moments in which sometimes you don
t think it s really happening. October 4, 1957, was one of those days. Because that was the day the
world changed forever and there was no turning back. It was the day of the Sputnik launch. Sputnik
was a Soviet satellite that orbited in the earth s rotation 500 miles above the earth and traveling at
about 18,000 mph. It took approximately 98 minutes for it to rotate the earth which meant it passed
the United States seven times a day. It looked like it was from a whole another world or out of a movie
or a fantasy story. It consisted of a ball with four stem like structures coming out and pointing down at
the ground. The ball like structure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The launch of the Sputnik had such a big impact on America because America thought of themselves
as the world s technological leaders (Richerme 35). Also the Soviets, after all, were not supposed to be
good at technology (DeGroot 3). This scared America and brought them into a big crisis or as some
call a race. This race was known as the space race and it was a very long and twisted path that it bared
on its shoulders. Now that after America and the Soviet Union where both partaking in the space race
they both had suspicions about each other. Eisenhower, on the other hand, saw satellites as pointless
unless they provided something useful back on Earth (DeGroot 5). A spy satellite, on the other hand,
could provide accurate pictures of Soviet military capabilities, thus enabling the United States to
spend its defense budget wisely, without wasting huge sums on challenging phantom forces (DeGroot
5). America was worried about the Soviets spying on America because of security issues so America
wanted to pursue on building themselves a satellite to provide accurate pictures of Soviet military
capabilities (DeGroot 5). The only problem was that Flying over another nation s territory without
permission was, however, illegal under international law. What was not clear was whether the law
applied to satellites (DeGroot 5). America and the Soviets were in a battle to see which world power
could be the best. The

The Water Systems At Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, And Mckinney...
Our study determined how detrimental pet activity is on the environment, more specifically the water
systems at Bulls Creek, Wild Basin, and McKinney Falls. My hypothesis was the if there is human
and pet activity near water ways, there will be an increase in algae boom and chlorophyll a
concentration because bacteria body material, and feces of the dog affects the water s health. Our
results did not agree with our hypothesis because Chlorophyll a concentration was higher at
McKinney Falls, where there was the most pet activity, and lower at Bulls Creek, even though pets
were allowed also. Additionally, the Wild Basin, where there were no pets allowed, had samples with
an unexpectedly high chlorophyll a concentration compared to the samples from Bulls Creek. Other
factors including canopy cover, and urban runoff could have also altered water quality.
I infer that the water quality was affected more by other factors. The two sites with about the same
amount of human activity were McKinney Falls State Park and Bulls Creek. On the other hand, Wild
Basin swimming is not allowed. Our results showed that the order from greatest to least amount of
nitrate and phosphorous concentration was Bulls Creek, McKinney Falls, and Wild Basin at the
lowest. Hence, because Bulls Creek was had the high amounts of human activity and nitrate and
phosphorous levels, this relates

Tracing Out the Legacy of Prehistoric Human Existence
Looking at cave art today, we see some of our earliest ancestors. Viewing and studying cave art allows
us, today, to look back in time and see how our primitive ancestors perceived the world ( Prehistoric
Cave Art ).
No one truly knows when cave painting first began, but one theory links the evolution of Stone Age
art to the arrival of anatomically modern humans in Europe during the period of the Upper Paleolithic
( Stone Age Cave Painting ). With that theory in mind, cave art pretty much started around the same
time with the movement and relocation of the Neanderthal man ( Stone Age Cave Painting ), which

A Report On The Show Stoppers
In light of the facts provided the show stoppers that stem to mind are in relation to the dismissal of the
underwriter from the syndicate; depth of analyst research; low expense ratio; and timing. Ordinarily,
where an underwriter is involved in a public or private offering the importance of undertaking a proper
due diligence is paramount as it provides a complete defense, against a strict liability, under section 11
and 12 of the Securities Act 1933.
There isn t enough time to ensure enough is done to establish due diligence defence, and as for the low
expense ratio in comparison to the industry this would be the primary show stopper, in conjunction
with the timing of dismissal of the other underwriter, and heightened liability exposure risk section 11
and 12 of the Securities Act 1933. Summarily, where the low expense ratio red flag is concerned the
court in WorldCom (discussed further below) mentioned that a jury would entitled to find the
discrepancy sufficient to have a triggered a duty to investigate the reliability of the figures underlying
the ratio, notwithstanding that those figures had been audited. It would not be foreseeable for the
client to undertake this process within the 72 hours available, and avail itself of the due diligence
defense.
Further Analysis: due diligence
Given that the issuer is a WKSi, there is a heightened due diligence risk where the offering is a shelf
registration. The SEC did not intend that Rule 176 alter the fundamental nature

Sonic s Nostalgic Drive-In Business Model
Sonic uses a nostalgic drive in business model for their customers (Ferrell, Hirt Ferrell, 2009). This
competitive advantage gives the customer a feel of the 1950 s carhop service allowing the consumer to
eat in their car if they choose. The unique and diverse menu allows Sonic to meet many consumers
needs for fast food. The variety allows the consumer many different options of food and beverages.
The largest competitive advantage for Sonic over other fast food restaurants is during the ordering
process. At Sonic, the consumer is allowed as much time as they need to browse the menu and place
their order. At other drive thru models the consumer feels pressure by the cars behind them when
reviewing the menu before placing their order (Taylor,

Benito Cereno
In her article entitled Black Masks: Melville s Benito Cereno , Jean Fagan Yellin says that when
Benito Cereno, Herman Melville s tale of slave revolt, appeared in 1855, it made use of Negro
stereotypes already standard in American fiction (Yellin 678). Captain Amasa Delano is characterized
as the typical Yankee man. Yellin elaborates on this by analyzing his self important, authoritarian
persona, observing that he is investigating the strange ship, self righteously expounding the doctrine of
work, officiously planning to manage affairs on the San Dominick, proudly resentful of any implied
social slight, and in no way averse, after helping the distressed Spaniard, to totting up the price he
expects to be paired for his trouble. He smugly believes himself the peculiarly favored child of
Providence (Yellin 682). When we view him in contrast with Cereno, an aristocratic European, Delano
can now be assessed as representation of the idealistic New World Man or the typical American white
man, meaning he is seen as democratic, compassionate, generous, capable of decisive action, although
blind to evil and unable to learn from his experience (Yellin 682). This is best exemplified in his views
of the black slaves on the San Dominick. His assumptive thinking is prevalent in the story because
throughout his initial exploration of the San Dominick, he buys into the illusion that what is happening
upon the ship is not deviating from reality. The presentation of black slaves as

Mass Shooting In Schools
Mass shootings have become one of the most fearful events that could happen in elementary schools,
high schools, and College campuses. These violent actions committed by a number of individuals
have happened for many years and will continue happening unless prevented. Individuals like James
Holmes opened fire in a Colorado movie theater, killing twelve individuals and injuring twenty, John
Sawahri shot five students dead in Santa Monica College also injuring four individuals. However Eric
Harris and Dylan Kleibold executed the most horrific act of school violence in United States History.
These two individuals managed to take the lives of twelve students, a teacher and managed to take
their own life in the process. This act of crime has spread through America, leaving no one safe. These
crimes have occurred not too long ago and can easily happen in the future. As a community, ... Show

No one just wakes up one day to realize they became a criminal; this process generally takes a long
and slow build. Guns opened to those who really should not have them can be seen as one of the main
reasons as to why mass shootings exist all around America. Investigators should find a way to keep
these killing machines away from those who should not have them. Living with a abusive family and
not getting any attention when a person needs it the most can also cause one to build hate towards
others. Always entertained by violent movies and video games will cause a child s brain to think that
the world mirrors the violence they obtain from these games and movies. What happens in the games
can also happen in the real world, especially when violent games are involved. Searching for revenge
or simply seeking for attention are also reasons to mass shootings. All of this buildup in an individual
s life can cause a child to grow up into having a mind of a criminal. However, solutions to stop this
from occurring are

The Main Features Of The Argument On The Nature Of...
The key features of the argument on the nature of abortion developed by Judith Thomson first focuses
on the extreme anti abortion view, second the right to life, third the right to live and use the mother s
body, fourth having rights and their being certain limits, and fifth the good Samaritan and the
responsibilities of the parents. The extreme anti abortion view develops a thinking that when a mother
s life is threatened if she should carry her baby to full term what is the decision she must make.
Opponents of abortion believe that the fetus s life is more important than the mother s life and that the
mother should not abort the child. Even though, opponents may believe that the fetus being a person
has every right to life so does the mother. A mother aborting her child cannot be considered an act of
murder, because she is only doing it to save her own life. For example as stated in the text:
There you are lying in bed with the violinist and the director of the hospital comes in and tells you that
your kidneys are failing, and that you will die within a month. But you have to stay where you are
because unplugging yourself directly from the violinist would be considered directly killing an
innocent person; (Thomson, 270)
A person may not seriously consider that someone would willingly sit there and keep themselves
plugged up to someone when they are unwillingly dying because if it. This relates to how a woman
surely can defend her own life against the threat posed by her

I was not there, yet I was there. No, I did not go to the trial, I did not hear the verdict, because I knew

captivating and explosive first paragraph. Immediately capturing the reader s attention, the fast paced
novel takes us on a voyage of thematic discovery. Through the voice of Grant Wiggins, a school
teacher disgruntled by his constant struggle for communal equality, we learn of the present conditions
that face our central characters and the contemporary themes that sum up the novel.

Grant undoubtedly fears having to take the entire scope of racism on his shoulders alone, knowing that
a fatal collapse would be the result. Grant fiercely displays his anguish in a conversation with his
Aunt:
Everything you sent me to school for, you re stripping me of it, I told my aunt. They were looking at
the fire, and I stood behind them with the bag of food. The humiliation I had to go through, going in
that man s kitchen. The hours I had to wait while they ate and drank and socialized before they would
even see me. Now going up to that jail. To watch them put their dirty hands on that food. To search my
body each time as if I m some kind of common criminal. Maybe today they ll want to look into my
mouth, or my nostrils, or make me strip. Anything to humiliate me. All the things you wanted me to
escape by going to school. (79)
During his emotional spill, Grant resorts to the maniacal thought that his aunt has something to do
with the racism he experiences. Ironically, it is the seemingly racist words of Jefferson s defense
attorney that fuels the spectrum of the novel, and the eventual salvation of both Jefferson and Grant.
A chief theme of the novel is commented upon by Grant himself. During a memorable speech given to
Vivian, he adamantly explains that a vicious cycle of male abandonment has taken place in

Issues of Illegal Immigration
Introduction Alabama is not necessarily known as a hotbed for illegal immigration issues, so the news
flew under the radar. Last year, the state enacted immigration reform of its own after tiring of seeing
politicians of all stripes kick the problem down the road. But here s the thing the reforms worked. The
state s unemployment rate fell 0.6%, and a lot of those new jobs that were created were specifically
attributed to companies hiring Americans after shedding their illegal workers (Munro, 2011). So what
is it about immigration reform? Everybody knows that we need it. And on many points, everybody
agrees. Yet at the federal level, nothing seems to ever get done, leaving it to the states to create an
inherently inefficient system of patchwork laws. What we need is for someone to take charge of this
issue in the White House and in Congress it really does not matter who and actually implement
meaningful immigration reform.
Illegal immigration causes nothing but problems for America and for Americans. Illegal immigrants
undercut American workers for jobs. In many states they are eligible for various forms of public
assistance despite not paying taxes, and this happens even in conservative states like Texas and
Arizona (Ferrari, 2011). A patchwork of state laws is not going to address this issue adequately, but
merely push the problem around the country from one state to another. Reform is needed at the federal
level, as this is a problem that affects all states and all

  • 2. Acute Real Failure The diagnosis of acute renal failure (ARF), also referred to as acute kidney injury (AKI), encompasses a wide ranging continuum of acute renal pathologies that are characterized by sudden deterioration of kidney function. This results in abrupt aberrations in fluid, electrolyte, and acid base balance, nitrogenous waste removal, creatinine clearance, and glomerular filtration rate. ARF or AKI is subdivided into three general categories based on the etiology. Again, aging alone, without the presence of any comorbidities, is associated with an increased susceptibility to ARF. This is due to deterioration of renal blood flow with age and consequent decrease in glomerular filtration rate (GFR). This is probably because, with these changes, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... intracellular potassium ion gradient is fundamental to the establishment of the resting membrane potential in excitable cells (neurons and muscle cells) is necessary in order to appreciate how hyperkalemia (excess extracellular K) disrupts this delicate balance. Because of the loss of this potassium gradient, excitable cells become hypopolarized, and are therefore less responsive to stimuli (action potentials). This results in muscle weakness and flaccid paralysis that progresses in an ascending pattern. The main concern with hyperkalemia is its implication on the cardiac system (Copstead Banasik, 2013). Hyperkalemia that exceeds 6.0 mEq/L can be fatal because of its depressant effects on myocardial activity. This is demonstrated on an ECG tracing with the disappearance of the P wave, extended T wave and QRS segment, and depressed ST segment. Should this happen, the client is an emergent situation and immediate measures must be taken to reduce serum potassium to prevent cardiac arrest (Osborn, et al. 2014). This patient s serum potassium was 6.1 mEq/L on arrival, which placed at an extremely high risk for cardiac dysfunction. He was immediately given a combination of immediate and longer acting medications to lower his serum potassium (calcium, D50, insulin, bicarbonate, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By now you are all saying am crazy because if am going to say that someone who looks exactly like you is not your twin then am crazy. But yes it is not your twin. So my topic today is not about identical twin my topic today is Human cloning. Now I know that all of you know and have seen identical twins. And at some point you all wonder what would it be like to have a twin, what would it be like to have someone look exactly like you? Now with scientist experiment and finding new results in cloning how long will it be before they clone a human. I want to ask you guy will there be another you? Academy of Achievement. http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/page/sal0int 1 (accessed November 18, 2009) The Calling to Find a Cure provided an informative interview with Jonas Salk. It told the story of the creation of the polio vaccine through the eyes of its creator. Salk also describes his childhood and the events that lead up to his medical breakthrough. Latour, Bruno , Steve Woolgar, and Jonas Salk. Introduction. Laboratory Life. 1986.Reprint. Princeton: Princeton University Press, 1986. 11. Print. It showed the way that Jonas Salk studied polio and how he came to the conclusion that the vaccine was correct. He also taught that it is a life taking job and that polio vaccine was a difficult task but a successful one. Salgado, Sebastiao. The End of Polio: A Global Effort to End a Disease. Illustrated edition Ed. New York: Bulfinch, 2003. Print. This shows pictures of the terrifying times that many went through with polio. It brings in reality by putting a visual image on the subject. After understanding these photos, it is known that polio was and is completely preventable. Secondary Sources Albert B. Sabin. American History. ABC CLIO, 2009. Web. 14 Nov. 2009. • 5. Ancient Greek Astronomy Many ancient civilizations had their own beliefs about the stars and the universe. Some examples of these intelligent civilizations were the Ancient Babylonians, Middle Eastern civilizations, Central American civilizations, Ancient Chinese, and the Ancient Greeks. The Ancient Babylonians studied patterns on Venus which were later continued by Galileo and Copernicus. People from the Middle East, Central America, and China watched the skies and made many observations and predictions of movement in the heavens. There were many famous Philosophers and Astronomers from the Ancient Greek civilizations who studied the sky. They searched for patterns and numbers to find something fundamental. Thinkers attempted to come up with combinations of uniform circular motions that would prove their already observed irregular motions. Aristotle was a Greek philosopher who thought that the moon, sun, and other planets rotated around the stationary Earth. But, as we know today, his theory was incorrect. Some other Greek philosophers attempted to measure the distance to the moon and even tried to find the size of the universe! They found the universe to be finite. On the other and, Claudius Ptolemy believed that the heavens (skies) were not made of rocks, metal, or other Earthy materials, but that they were made of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are kind of like breathing in the exhaust fumes from a running car. We need oxygen tanks to stay alive while we are on our family vacation. • 6. The Post-Soviet Reemergence of the Russian Empire The 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union signified an end to Russia s control over its Middle Eastern Empire. Many of its states seceded and founded new nations and Russia lost significant power over the region. The new Russian Federation, in an effort to reestablish Soviet supremacy, has launched a neo imperialistic campaign to once again have political, economic and security control over the area today known as the Caucasus. Principally, Russia wants to have political control over the area consisting of the lands of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Georgia and Chechnya as well as the Caspian Sea. Furthermore, it is an objective to reap profit from this resource rich area to stabilize Russia s economy. Additionally, Russia wants to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Russia s imperialistic actions over the Southern Tier nations have not just been a nostalgic attempt to salvage its old empire. The Caspian Sea, the world s largest landlocked body of water bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, may sit on as much as 200 billion barrels or oil which would be 16% of the Earth s potential oil reserves. (Sciolino, 1998, pg. 16) A 1998 New York Times article estimated that at that time this amount of oil would add up to $3 trillion. (Sciolino, 1998, pg. 16) It is obvious that Russia would like to exploit a considerable share of this wealth. The exploitation of the Caspian Sea depends on pipeline transport of oil and Russia would like to see these pipelines run through their land on their way to international markets to harness some of the profit. (Akiner, 2000, pg. 146) This profit, as well as economic control over the Southern Tier region, is another important motive in Russia s resurgent scheme. Russia has used several mechanisms in its campaign to restore the soviet economic space. Primarily Russia has attempted to assert control over the Caspian Sea in order to gain a large share of its resources. When in 1994 Azerbaijan concluded what is called the contract of the century with an international oil consortium Russia called the whole thing illegal. The uncharted waters contained violent storms, hideous sea monsters with thirteen arms, and most importantly, the crew could die from scurvy. However, due to Vasco da Gama s raw courage and undaunted personality, the Portugal s long awaited journey trade route to India was accomplished as well as the spread of Christianity. Although the exact date was unknown, Vasco da Gama was welcomed into the world in around 1460 in Sines, Portugal. Vasco was the third son of Estevao da Gama and Dona Isabel Sodre. The da Gama family were minor aristocrats, and Vasco s father, Estevao da Gama, was the captain of the fortress at Sines. In 1495, King John II passed away six years after Bartolomeu Dias s achievement, and the late king s cousin, Manuel I, took power. Even though Manuel was only twenty four years old, he wanted to expand Portugal s trade routes. Instead of Bartolomeu Dias taking the honor of the captain of the fleet, Manuel surprisingly chose the thirty seven year old da Gama. According to Gaspar Correa, an eyewitness that was in court that day described how Manuel chose da Gama that day as the captain of the fleet. One day the king, sitting in his hall of business at a table with his officers, giving orders, by chance... raised his eyes, and Vasco da Gama happened to cross through the hall... Odysseus is put through so much for such a long period of time yet he still manages to overcome it and become a great hero. Searching for knowledge we meet Siddhartha, a man who gives up everything for his goal of finding nirvana and himself. The only thing Siddhartha uses to reach his goal are his senses. All he wants to be is himself, but his sense is being covered by his knowledge. It is during this time Siddhartha finally realizes that he doesn t know his quot;self quot; and now see that he has avoided finding it his whole life. God then addresses Job s three friends and tells them that they have angered God and they have to offer seven bulls and seven rams to clear their wrongdoings against God. After all the repenting and prayers, God then gives back all of Job s losses, blessing him with twice the number of livestock he had before and blessing Job with seven sons and three daughters. Job goes on to live joyously for another 140 years before dying. The prologue of the book, set in prose style, is made up of chapters one and two with the introduction of Job and his family and how successful he is and that he is blessed by God wonderfully. It goes into Job s first test which Satan presents himself before the lord. God said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil (Job 1:8). This is when Satan puts up the challenge for God saying, Does Job fear God for nothing? Eminent domain is the transfer of property from one private party (Kelo) to a public party (City of New London), with proper compensation. The case brought to light the difference between what is considered to be public use and what is the best public purpose. Susette Kelo and fellow property owners owned property that was condemned by the city of New London to be used as further economic development. The properties were taken from the owners due to the fact a pharmaceutical company named Pfizer Inc, was planning to build a facility in the area which gave the New ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main argument presented by O Conner involved the Constitution on how the citizens have protection from the government abusing their power against eminent domain. She presented an argument on how it s like a reverse Robin Hood because the rich take from the poor and give back to the rich. If the City of New London was to be allowed to do this that other cities all over the United States would be doing the same and that this would become the norm giving homeowners no rights and no protection against this happening. Homeowners would then be given the sense that no private property is safe from eminent domain seizures. The majority opinion I feel like changed the way they looked at the Fifth Amendment to the best public purpose not the best public use of the land in order to justify their ruling. I also feel like their ruling left the door open to many more eminent domain cases because they didn t create a fine line between what was to be considered to be legal and illegal. I feel like the minority was also correct in saying that this will be considered the norm and therefor taking away the rights given to property owners through the constitution. I also couldn t find anywhere that it was stated that there were negotiations for the property; I did find in an article that the plaintiffs in the case were not hold outs. • 19. Analysis Of I Too By Langston Hughes From freedom of speech, to freedom of religion, here in America, issues are also freed to hidden behind the phrase freedom. The statement of freedom like free flowing words on the page of poem, contains various definitions like different possible interpretations of a poem. While at the time for Langston Hughes, his definition of freedom was chained by the pigment of his skin. As he acknowledges his conflict with freedom while struggling against racism, Langston Hues in his poem I Too, expresses how the issue of racism has been understated in America through the usage of euphony, free verse and enjambment, depicting that the existence of freedom that was promised by America is incomplete. Through the usage of euphony, Hughes softly calls out the matter of racism, an issue is barely touched on in America today. At the time I Too was written in 1925, this soft call depicts the fear and suppression the darker brother (Hughes) of America faced. While the euphony created by the patterns of the lines But I laugh/ And eat well,/ And grow strong (Hughes) portrays their nonviolent protest against this untouched oppressive force of racism, today, the euphony behind the positive dictions such as company (Hughes) in this poem presents the issue as if it is simply the difference between ea[ting] in the kitchen or eating at the table. The usage of euphony depicts that the issue of racism is easier said than done, for that the issue was never solved but only modernized. Hence, this parallel emphasizes how understated the issue of racism is in America, while at the same time contradicting the reality of the issue In addition, because euphony is used throughout the poem, Hughes stresses that between the difference of color, the same patriotic language is spoken, for that he too, sing America (Hughes) in the same National Anthem in the same euphonious tone. However, the participation of this singing is still has not euphoniously provide him a seat at the American table. By hiding him in the kitchen, America hides racism in the kitchen, to create the look of a euphonious table as mocked by the way this poem hides it behind its euphonious words. The reason as to why I am saying this is that first, the two aspects in the field of government running are very necessary (Goodnow Books, 2016). In order for the government to carry out its operations for the better of the general public who are the core principles in a public administration, it is of important to have the two aspects in place for the leaders in government to operate as required in order to yield the best results of their services to the public expectations. The two are in a dichotomy situation but however, there is a way that they can be integrated and used concurrently to yield better results in government operations in its leadership process. To have this aspect of practicability and workability of the distinction, let us first examine each of the two aspects separately then from there we get to see the integration of the two to bring out an effective operational platform of the two. First, let us think of an administration. We all know and appreciate that for an effective and efficient leadership, there needs to be a strong leadership and also the management characteristics of the administration in place need to be performing greatly (Association for Politics and the Life Sciences (U.S.), 2017). Our results did not agree with our hypothesis because Chlorophyll a concentration was higher at McKinney Falls, where there was the most pet activity, and lower at Bulls Creek, even though pets were allowed also. Additionally, the Wild Basin, where there were no pets allowed, had samples with an unexpectedly high chlorophyll a concentration compared to the samples from Bulls Creek. Other factors including canopy cover, and urban runoff could have also altered water quality. I infer that the water quality was affected more by other factors. The two sites with about the same amount of human activity were McKinney Falls State Park and Bulls Creek. On the other hand, Wild Basin swimming is not allowed. There isn t enough time to ensure enough is done to establish due diligence defence, and as for the low expense ratio in comparison to the industry this would be the primary show stopper, in conjunction with the timing of dismissal of the other underwriter, and heightened liability exposure risk section 11 and 12 of the Securities Act 1933. Summarily, where the low expense ratio red flag is concerned the court in WorldCom (discussed further below) mentioned that a jury would entitled to find the discrepancy sufficient to have a triggered a duty to investigate the reliability of the figures underlying the ratio, notwithstanding that those figures had been audited. It would not be foreseeable for the client to undertake this process within the 72 hours available, and avail itself of the due diligence defense. Further Analysis: due diligence Given that the issuer is a WKSi, there is a heightened due diligence risk where the offering is a shelf registration. • 35. Benito Cereno In her article entitled Black Masks: Melville s Benito Cereno , Jean Fagan Yellin says that when Benito Cereno, Herman Melville s tale of slave revolt, appeared in 1855, it made use of Negro stereotypes already standard in American fiction (Yellin 678). Captain Amasa Delano is characterized as the typical Yankee man. Yellin elaborates on this by analyzing his self important, authoritarian persona, observing that he is investigating the strange ship, self righteously expounding the doctrine of work, officiously planning to manage affairs on the San Dominick, proudly resentful of any implied social slight, and in no way averse, after helping the distressed Spaniard, to totting up the price he expects to be paired for his trouble. He smugly believes himself the peculiarly favored child of Providence (Yellin 682). When we view him in contrast with Cereno, an aristocratic European, Delano can now be assessed as representation of the idealistic New World Man or the typical American white man, meaning he is seen as democratic, compassionate, generous, capable of decisive action, although blind to evil and unable to learn from his experience (Yellin 682). This is best exemplified in his views of the black slaves on the San Dominick. His assumptive thinking is prevalent in the story because throughout his initial exploration of the San Dominick, he buys into the illusion that what is happening upon the ship is not deviating from reality. • 36. Mass Shooting In Schools Mass shootings have become one of the most fearful events that could happen in elementary schools, high schools, and College campuses. These violent actions committed by a number of individuals have happened for many years and will continue happening unless prevented. Individuals like James Holmes opened fire in a Colorado movie theater, killing twelve individuals and injuring twenty, John Sawahri shot five students dead in Santa Monica College also injuring four individuals. However Eric Harris and Dylan Kleibold executed the most horrific act of school violence in United States History. These two individuals managed to take the lives of twelve students, a teacher and managed to take their own life in the process. This act of crime has spread through America, leaving no one safe. These crimes have occurred not too long ago and can easily happen in the future. As a community, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one just wakes up one day to realize they became a criminal; this process generally takes a long and slow build. Guns opened to those who really should not have them can be seen as one of the main reasons as to why mass shootings exist all around America. Investigators should find a way to keep these killing machines away from those who should not have them. Living with a abusive family and not getting any attention when a person needs it the most can also cause one to build hate towards others. Always entertained by violent movies and video games will cause a child s brain to think that the world mirrors the violence they obtain from these games and movies. What happens in the games can also happen in the real world, especially when violent games are involved. Searching for revenge or simply seeking for attention are also reasons to mass shootings. All of this buildup in an individual s life can cause a child to grow up into having a mind of a criminal. However, solutions to stop this from occurring are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Main Features Of The Argument On The Nature Of... The key features of the argument on the nature of abortion developed by Judith Thomson first focuses on the extreme anti abortion view, second the right to life, third the right to live and use the mother s body, fourth having rights and their being certain limits, and fifth the good Samaritan and the responsibilities of the parents. The extreme anti abortion view develops a thinking that when a mother s life is threatened if she should carry her baby to full term what is the decision she must make. Opponents of abortion believe that the fetus s life is more important than the mother s life and that the mother should not abort the child. Even though, opponents may believe that the fetus being a person has every right to life so does the mother. A mother aborting her child cannot be considered an act of murder, because she is only doing it to save her own life. For example as stated in the text: There you are lying in bed with the violinist and the director of the hospital comes in and tells you that your kidneys are failing, and that you will die within a month. But you have to stay where you are because unplugging yourself directly from the violinist would be considered directly killing an innocent person; (Thomson, 270) A person may not seriously consider that someone would willingly sit there and keep themselves plugged up to someone when they are unwillingly dying because if it. This relates to how a woman surely can defend her own life against the threat posed by her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grant undoubtedly fears having to take the entire scope of racism on his shoulders alone, knowing that a fatal collapse would be the result. Grant fiercely displays his anguish in a conversation with his Aunt: Everything you sent me to school for, you re stripping me of it, I told my aunt. They were looking at the fire, and I stood behind them with the bag of food. The humiliation I had to go through, going in that man s kitchen. The hours I had to wait while they ate and drank and socialized before they would even see me. Now going up to that jail. To watch them put their dirty hands on that food. To search my body each time as if I m some kind of common criminal. Maybe today they ll want to look into my mouth, or my nostrils, or make me strip. Anything to humiliate me. All the things you wanted me to escape by going to school. (79) During his emotional spill, Grant resorts to the maniacal thought that his aunt has something to do with the racism he experiences. Ironically, it is the seemingly racist words of Jefferson s defense attorney that fuels the spectrum of the novel, and the eventual salvation of both Jefferson and Grant. A chief theme of the novel is commented upon by Grant himself. During a memorable speech given to Vivian, he adamantly explains that a vicious cycle of male abandonment has taken place in ... • 39. Issues of Illegal Immigration Introduction Alabama is not necessarily known as a hotbed for illegal immigration issues, so the news flew under the radar. Last year, the state enacted immigration reform of its own after tiring of seeing politicians of all stripes kick the problem down the road. But here s the thing the reforms worked. The state s unemployment rate fell 0.6%, and a lot of those new jobs that were created were specifically attributed to companies hiring Americans after shedding their illegal workers (Munro, 2011). So what is it about immigration reform? Everybody knows that we need it. And on many points, everybody agrees. Yet at the federal level, nothing seems to ever get done, leaving it to the states to create an inherently inefficient system of patchwork laws. What we need is for someone to take charge of this issue in the White House and in Congress it really does not matter who and actually implement meaningful immigration reform. Illegal immigration causes nothing but problems for America and for Americans. Illegal immigrants undercut American workers for jobs. In many states they are eligible for various forms of public assistance despite not paying taxes, and this happens even in conservative states like Texas and Arizona (Ferrari, 2011). A patchwork of state laws is not going to address this issue adequately, but merely push the problem around the country from one state to another. Reform is needed at the federal level, as this is a problem that affects all states and all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
