Why I Want To Be Managed
I am born and raised in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. A city renown not only for the tall, blonde
people who inhabit it, but also for the water that surrounds and flows through it. Central Stockholm is
made up of 14 islands which marks the start of the Stockholm archipelago, making it impossible to
avoid the beautiful, and somewhat windy, water front.
Apart from the big blue water bodies, green spaces abound. A whopping third of the city s area is
made up of green spaces, and many of the islands are more parks than urban areas.
Add a summer cottage on the countryside, most vacations spent tramping and skiing, and you have the
foundation for a young girl with a strong connection with the outdoors. An important piece of the
puzzle is my parents who have taught me to not only enjoy, but also respect the nature I ve spent so
much time in. Even though it s mostly been the basic stuff it s given me a sense of ... Show more

The starting point was my years in high school learning to become a zoo keeper. In between classes on
minimizing stress when handling parrots and different lion enrichments, I also learned why those very
animals are in need of our conservation programs. The decline of suitable wildlife habitats is strongly
connected with exploitation of environmental resources. I also gained a deeper understanding of the
daily needs, both mental and physical, that all animals have, be it wildlife or livestock.
Working at a zoo with wild animals might sound like the dream job. But I wanted to get to the source
of the problem, which led me down the environmental path. As it so happens, livestock production is
one of the major causes of many of our environmental problems, as well as a business which rarely
takes proper animal welfare into consideration. This contributes to my value that the consumption of
livestock produce must largely

The Character of Monsieur Meursault in The Stranger Essay
The Character of Monsieur Meursault in The Stranger Camus entitled his novel The Stranger because
his protagonist actually was a stranger to both his associates and his surroundings. Monsieur
Meursault was never really known by anyone. Nobody ever knew what really made Meursault tick
and nobody ever really knew what motivated him. Meursault was a wanderer throughout his life.
Meursault was also a stranger because he did not understand other people s motivations either.
Meursault formed relationships easily enough and interacted with others. But, it was obvious that
Meursault interacted in these relationships the way other people expected him to. For example, when
Meursault invited Salamano into his house, he eventually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, the reader sees that Meursault notices that he is doing well in the conversation and he takes note
of it. Meursault is also very distant from everyone he meets and interacts with. He was distant at his
mother s funeral and he was distant with Marie and he was distant with the police both times he was
questioned. At Maman s funeral, Meursault paid more attention to his surroundings, the nurse with the
bandaged face, the bright sunlight and the caretaker than he did his mother s body. He did not even
enter a time of mourning. Meursault did not want to look at his mother or have the casket opened.
Instead, he drank coffee and smoked cigarettes. This proves Meursault s distance from his mother.
Meursault also is distant with the woman who eventually should become his fiancee. He enjoys Marie
s company. But, it seems like her enjoys her as a woman rather than as an individual. Marie s breasts
seem to be Meursault favorite part about her. Meursault is also distant when dealing with the police. It
appears as if he is watching himself deal with other people while outside of his own body. He reports
the lawyers and judge s questioning matter of factly and stoically. One passage that involves the
courtroom and the variety of people in it, shows how alone Meursault

The Legend Of Alice Monologue
It was an immaculate wedding, white roses adorning the hedges and everyone dressed in lightly
coloured dresses and suits. Alice, a nineteen year old bridesmaid, attending the wedding as her auntie
was getting married, was in a pale blue dress and had light curly blonde hair. She didn t want to be
there, but she was forced by her Auntie. Her Auntie Paige loved the colour red and didn t love
anything else (she was only marrying for the money), she was so infuriated that there were only white
roses that she ended up destroying the delicate gold and white cake. Alice then began to sneak out, and
explore the intricate hedge maze as she wanted to leave the unfortunate wedding. As she walked along
she smelt the freshly picked white roses and felt the glistening sun on her, she loved the feeling of
being alone; being isolated from everyone, she didn t want to be like everyone else and end up getting
married, settle down and have kids, she wanted to explore and adventure around the world. Suddenly,
Alice spotted a peculiar creature that hopped along in the distance; it had tall ears, lightly coloured fur
and was quite small, it was holding an interesting device that looked like a compass crossed with a
clock. The creature started rushing faster than anything Alice had seen ... Show more content on

The Importance Of War In The Film Paths Of Glory
When reoriented by the trauma and darkness of war, wisdom shapes an altered perception of the value
of human life, embodying the light of gratitude. The film Paths of Glory, directed by Stanley Kubrick,
dealt with the harsh conditions in the trenches during WW1, and is an exploration of dehumanisation.
The film discreetly questions the authority of superior officers, and the way in which the hierarchy of
the army is depicted. The film was made during the Cold War era, which was the geopolitical rivalry
between US and the Soviet Union. Situated in WW2, Catch 22 is a satirical novel composed by Joseph
Heller, which defines the infuriating, inverted thought processes by which the military runs its soldiers
lives; Any time a soldier discerns a possible route out of the war, there is a catch, and it is always
Catch 22.
Anti war texts construct emotionally challenging and persuasive accounts of condemnation of
darkness and injustice in war. In the film Paths of Glory, Stanley Kubrick creates a visual
condemnation of warfare through his portrayal of injustice. Colonel Dax is the epitome of human
goodness, a characteristic which ironically causes conflict within the context of the military as
demonstrated in the Testimony scene, where Dax makes a powerful statement about the cruelty of the
court case. Dax s sadistic plea condemns the officials of their unjust verdict, however they prevail with
an indifferent reading of the evidence. For Mireau it is the decision to order the

The Chemical Solution Of M Hcl
EXPERIMENTAL Part A of this experiment was essential because it set up the chemical solutions
needed for Part B and C, as well as the equipment that was used throughout the entire experiment. To
start, a 300mL solution of 2M HCl was prepared with the stock solution of 6M HCl. For this, 200mL
of deionized water was collected and added it to a 400mL beaker. Then, 100mL of 6M HCl was added
to the water. Next, 150mL of 2M NaOH was prepped by 50mL deionized water combined with 100mL
3M NaOH in another 400mL beaker. Before the experiment began, the LabQuest was plugged in and
turned on. The temperature probe was then plugged into channel one of the LabQuest. In order to fully
set up the LabQuest, the interval was changed to 15 s/sample. Part B was responsible for the reaction
of hydrochloric acid and ammonium hydroxide. The first of three sub reactions were monitored when
2 Styrofoam cups were stacked together and placed in a 400mL beaker. The cups were filled with
50mL 2M HCl first while the initial temperature was recorded. After 3 or 4 readings, 2M NaOH was
added in one smooth motion and stirred until the temperature reached a maximum or began to
decrease. Once the data was collected, the mixture was disposed of and the equipment was rinsed and
dried. Next, using the same method, the calorimeter was set up with 50mL 2M NaOH. After inserting
the temperature probe and receiving 3 or 4 readings, 50mL 2M NH4Cl was poured in and the cup was
stirred until the temperature reached a

Abrams And Sedition Act Case
During times of political unrest and hysteria, the Court seems to allow for more limits on speech if
simply because the times host more potential for danger. Take the following example as parallel to
Schenck, Abrams, and the circumstances surrounding both. In the 1969 case Brandenburg v. Ohio, the
Court abandoned the clear and present danger test, stating that only speech that produces or is likely to
produce violent actions or illegal behavior can be banned (Cohen 32). The Court argued a difference
between advocacy of ideas and incitement of unlawful conduct exists though the Court did not define
it. During this time, the United States was not concerned with being overthrown by insurgents or
overcome with hysteria like earlier in the century. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Court, in affirming the judgment of lower courts, deferred to Congress but also redefined the
standard to protect future free speech since the times implied more stringent restrictions on speech
could follow. Had the Court struck down the ruling, Congress would not have the necessary power to
limit speech, and future dangerous speech would go unabated since doing so would create the rule that
Congress cannot limit free speech. Rather than create this rule, the Court created a new standard by
which to measure the ability of Congress to curb free speech on a case by case basis. This new
standard, which more broadly protects free speech, has evolved over time, as evident in Abrams,
Brandenburg, and Holder. The ability to evolve over time and to apply to different cases in lower
courts highlights Holmes idea that rights were established by society and balanced by the needs of the
society, according to blah blah, and thus reflects an inherent legitimacy. Again, having this standard
and the ability to choose to use it or not allows the Court to reflect the necessities of society, thereby
aligning more closely to

Symbolism In The Devil s Arithmetic
The Devil s Arithmetic: a gruesome equation of addition and subtraction, a mix of human numbers, a
reviled combination of death and life. There are several denominations in presenting the story of
Hannah, similar or different they may be. To cover the rudimentary understanding, Hannah, named
after her aunt s dead friend, is forced by her parents to attend a Seder at her grandparent s house. She
is allowed to drink wine and opens the door for Elijah, according to tradition. She speaks the words
Ready or not, here I come... and is transported to the past. Hannah(Chaya to everyone else) tries to
indicate she is from the future, but the people in the past(right around WWII) just shake their heads
and think it is an aftereffect of a supposed illness that took Chaya s parents. Hannah attends a ... Show

nights. Some young men form a plan to escape, but of no avail, even when they change their course of

who are currently killing more Jews daily than ever, probably due to the fact that the Allies are

Chris Mccandless Analysis
Chris Mccandless was a man that many would call crazy or maybe even immoral. He left everything
to live in the wild and become one with nature . He had determination, a strong mindset, fearlessness
and courage. I believe that my life and the life of Chris Mccandless are not similar in any aspect. In
fact I wish that my life was more like his and that I had the drive and determination to do what he did.
Christopher Mccandless left everything he had to follow his dream. Honestly though what strikes me
as the most important thing he did was his strive for independence. Chris wanted to be free of his
family, his education, and free of his past life. What he did that makes me wish I could be more like
him though was his courage to not only attempt to be independent but his stubbornness to see it
through. When he decided he wanted to do something it wasn t a question of how should I do this or
should I do this, It was what can I do to make this happen now? Instead of keeping his money and his
name, he donned a new name and burned his money. Many would call this immoral and stupid, but in
actuality it was just a step in the process of becoming a new person and shedding all the layers of his
past life.
When Chris left he didn t tell anyone where he was going and he didn t keep any ties with his family.
What I m trying to say here is that not only do I admire him for his determination and stubborness of
will, I understand why he did what he did. Chris had recently found out about

As of January 1, 2016, Texas law permits individuals to straightforwardly convey their handgun in the
event that they are authorized by the Texas state or whatever other condition of The United States with

The Four Stages And Functions Of The Skeletal System
There are 270 bones in the human body at birth, decreasing to 206 by adulthood due to the fact that
some bones fuse together as we grow. The functions of the skeletal system are numerous. It provides a
framework for the body; produces blood cells; provides protection for organs; helps us breathe; acts as
a warehouse for mineral storage and allows for movement.
Bones in the human body form in the process called ossification. There are four stages in ossification,
1.) Embryonic bone formation; 2.) Bone growth throughout life starting in infancy through adulthood;
3.) Bone remodeling, and 4.) Fracture (breaks in the bone) repair.
The visible layer of a bone is called the periosteum, which is a type of tough connective tissue. The
periosteum contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves and cells that assist in rebuilding damaged
bone tissue. Additionally, ligaments and tendons attach to the periosteum. The end of the bone is
called the epiphysis, and the region between the ends is called the diaphysis. On examination of a
bone, you can see the epiphyseal plate, often called the growth plate. This looks like a line dividing
the diaphysis and epiphysis. Inside the bone is a hollow channel. This is called the medullary cavity,
and acts as a storage place for yellow and red bone marrow. Yellow marrow gets its color from high
fat content. Red marrow makes blood cells.
There are 2 types of bone tissue, spongy and compact bone. Compact bone is hard and usually found
in the shafts of long bones, and in the outer layer of other types of bones. (There are 4 types of bones,
long, short, flat and irregular bones.) Compact bone, as its name implies, is tightly packed, making it
strong and dense.
Spongy bone is the interior of the bone. Spongy bone has larger spaces than compact bone, giving it
the appearance of sponge. Spongy bone is also lighter, because it is not packed so tightly, and also
gives a space for the red bone marrow.
Intramembranous ossification is the simplest bone formation method. The flat bones of the skull, most
facial and mandibular bones, and the medial clavicle are formed this way. Chemical messengers
causes cells to the mesenchyme (tissue from which most connective tissue forms) to cluster at an

Eurasia Dbq Pax Mongolia
In order for the Mongolian Empire to thrive, trade needed to be dominant throughout Eurasia so they
could get basic resources. At the same time they had full control over China which expanded their
empire even though they had to sacrifice many resources. They restricted religious rights and
dismantled their Civil Service system. They also enforced laws that forbid intermarriage and the
Chinese from learning the Mongolian language. They were also violent to others especially during
their invasions. However, under all the brutality they helped do some great things for Eurasia. Thus

So when the Mongols took control of China, they had to tolerate certain religions to help keep up their

time for trade came around. Once foreign people started coming, the religion had been adopted by
those people, and brought back to their lands. This is how almost every culture and everything spreads
throughout the world. Although the Mongols resisted assimilation between their culture and the
Chinese, they still tolerated certain religions. Document 6 says An important legacy of the Mongols
reign in China was their support of many religions. The support of many religions is an important
positive effect the Mongols left on Eurasia because these religions are being spread across Eurasia
through trade, and because of this more religions were gaining more supporters across different

Explication Of The Lamb By William Blake
Explication of The Lamb
The Lamb is a short poem written by William Black, an english poet and writer who lived from 1757
to 1827, a lot of his works were written near the start of the romantic period. This movement focused
on the expressions of human spirituality, with a focus on nature. He lived a simple life and worked as
an illustrator and writer. The Lamb is a lyrics poem that contains two ten line stanzas. Each pair of
lines rhymes with the correlating line and this persists throughout the poem. The Lamb s theme alone
is to praise God for creating something so virtuous. The first stanza consists of Blake posing a
question, which sets the tone for the entirety of the poem. It is easy to identify that the question is

device is of course, the biblical allusion of the lamb and the Lord, as well as their relation. Blake
honours Jesus specifically with the line, He became a little child (line 16) for the sacrifice he made for
humanity by coming to earth. In addition, the lines, I a child and thou a lamb, we are called by his
name (Lines 17 18) further expand on the religious theme of the poem. Through this it is implied that
the speaker had been a child all along;which correlates with Blake s works in Songs of Innocence.
Ultimately this is a surprisingly simple poem with a relatively deep underlying message. This format
syncs up beautifully with the poems messages of a lamb s innocence and therefore a child s innocence.
The style is also accentuated with the simple verbiage, the use of repetition, and the device of a child
narrator. The larger theme comes into play still dealing with religion when the poem is aligned with its
counterpart The Tyger, to question God s intentions behind him creating all of humanity including
what is holy and virtuous, and what is vile and

Essay on Civil Liberties During World War One
Mackenzie Deane Period 4 Civil Liberties during World War One According to the Bill of Rights,
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to

Amendment does it state that in times of war, the government can change the laws that have been

If this is hard to believe, the case of Eugene Debs demonstrates how it was done. Debs lectured fellow
socialists on the detriments of the draft. In his speech he stated, The poor, ignorant serfs had been
taught to revere their masters; to believe that when their masters declared war upon another, it was
their patriotic duty to fall upon one another... The master class has always declared the wars; the
subject class has always fought the battles... I would rather a thousand times be a free soul in jail than
to be a sycophant and coward in the streets . Debs did just that, this speech cost him ten years in
prison. Many would say that he was only speaking his mind, and he should be able to do that, but the
government had most power, and they got the final say. Charles Schenck had a similar case. While
passing out pamphlets giving men reasons to not join the army, he was arrested and charged with
violating the Espionage Act. Again, he was only trying to inform people of the disturbing side of the
war. After the Espionage Act, came the Sedition Act in 1918. The Sedition Act did not allow language
tending to incite, provoke, and encourage resistance to the United States in said war . This Act
infringed further on people s First Amendment rights. Individuals abilities to express themselves were
curtailed. One of the people that went against this Act was Joseph Abrams. Abrams was a Russian
immigrant who did not agree with the Americans invading Russia. Because of this,

A Small Town Analysis
Where I grew up
The small town of dill city is where I grew up and spent all of my life in the same house. I cant

have to worry about much. But not much goes on I western Oklahoma anyways. You normally have to

Administrators should remove default passwords and disable unnecessary default accounts and non
essential functionality before the devices are installed on the network. An inventory of system
components that are a part of the cycle for PCI DSS must be maintained.
Requirement number three is to protect stored cardholder data using encryption, truncation, masking
and hashing as part of the cardholder data protection. If a hacker manages to bypass the security
protection and get access to the encrypted data, the information is unreadable and useless without the
correct cryptographic key. Only the minimal amount of cardholder data should be stored whenever
possible. There should also be policies for data retention and disposal procedures of cardholder data
storage. Only store the minimal data needed, do not store the entire track of contents of magnetic
strips, card verification code, or PIN number. PAN numbers must be rendered unreadable anywhere
they are stored. Cryptographic keys should be stored in as few locations as possible and under secure
encrypted devices.
The fourth requirement states that the entities must encrypt transmission of cardholder data when done
across open or public networks. It is required that entities use strong cryptography and security
protocols to maintain security of cardholder data during transmission. You should never send PAN
information by email, instant messaging, chat, or other messaging technology.

Personal branding has become an important aspect for candidates within job searches (Kaputa, 2006).
While many companies are using the opportunity of search engines and social media as hiring tools
for future employees, personal branding has become a crucial part of the hiring process.
Developing a Personal Brand
One of the most important aspects of developing a personal brand is differentiating between important
terminologies within the branding spectrum. the first step begins by establishing a brand identity and
communicating that through brand positioning to a specific target audience. Brand identity is defined
as how the marketer wants the brand to be perceived, Brand positioning uses that specific brand
identity to differentiate the person from other candidates within their target audience by highlighting
important values and aspects of the brand identity. The brand image is then noted as a reflection of the
person from their audience. This reaction is generally based on visible behavior, nonverbal behavior,
and other observable cues. (Frischmann, 2014) In order to begin the process of establishing a brand
identity, one must acknowledge what it is about themselves that is worthy of branding. suggests that to
start the branding process, it s necessary to develop a processional biography that includes a personal
brand statement, which includes visions, goals, and passions that

Corruption In The Oedipus Complex
Cormac McCarthy s novel exemplifies the nature of power and corruption in a post apocalyptic
setting. Throughout the entirety of the novel, readers are witnessed to a relationship between a man
and boy displaying their encounters in a corrupt dystopia. Following the death of his wife, the man
and his son embark on a journey through this setting in hopes of reaching the coast where they would
be isolated from cannibalism, corruption, and empowerment. These different acts can relate to
multiple readings of psychology and mythology. Readers are first captured by the corruption of this
dystopia immediately at the beginning of the novel. The author addresses the man believing as if the
month was October , stating that he has not kept a calendar for years (McCarthy 1). By inferring that
the month is October we can assure that the man and boy have been living in this corrupt dystopia for
an expanded time. As they continue on this journey, images of a psychological comparison come to
mind. Dr. Sigmund Freud s, The Oedipus Complex, is a theory of psychosexual stages of development
to describe a boy s feelings of desire for his mother and jealousy and anger towards his father. This
Oedipus Complex directly correlates to the boy s relationship to his father, specifically when they
encountered another man: this man was struck with lightning and was struggling to survive. Instead of
helping, the man decided to worry about their own survival and continue their journey to the

Canada in the Global Economy Essay
Canada in the Global Economy
Over the past few years, Canada s economy has done comparatively well and has demonstrated some
resilience to the fluctuating global economy. However, Canada remains to be relatively less
competitive with respect to other developed countries. In this paper I will attempt to take a closer look
at Canada s position in the global economy today and examine the relevant issues.
Competition is an important driver of innovation and productivity growth. Looking at the domestic
Canadian economy, perhaps one of the most significant barriers to a strong domestic economy is the
lack of intense competition among domestic firms. There are many reasons for this. First of all, the
size of the Canadian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is in part due to the fact that the Canadian economy fails to support the development of domestic
giants because of the reasons discussed above. As a result, value added activities, for example R D, are
not performed in Canada. The branch plant operations simply carry out non strategic and non value
added operations that do not give the county any competitive advantages or innovative drives.
Furthermore, re investment is limited in the Canadian operations because the majority of the resources

Besides a relatively non competitive business environment, Canada?s labour force also lacks the
competitive mindset. Structural employment remains high, which is partly due to the existence of
social assistance and unemployment insurance systems. Work incentives are low under the protection
of the employment insurance program, which indirectly contributes in a higher than the desirable
unemployment rate. Furthermore, unions and other similar groups do not promote many incentives for
workers to stay competitive in the workplace by continuously learning and improving productivity.
Countries that have been most successful in cutting unemployment are those that have improved

Prime objective of producing this show successfully is to stay fully aware of the marketing trends and
the regular information about the industry and its history. It is pivotal to understand and analyze the
industrial impact in the particular industry as the show is related to entertainment industry. Around 20
different game shows were analyzed to determine the fate of ours, as the above mentioned game
shows were similar in sketch. Two of popular programs were SPRITE FUNDA and LIVING ON THE
EDGE, these shows have successfully targeted the youth but they somewhat failed to capitalize the
market in the growth terms. We believe that our execution would go as planned and we can
successfully fill the vacuum in the industry.
TARGET MARKET:
QUICKWITT will be targeting the youth industry by focusing on colleges and universities in the
initial time periods. The age would fall between 16 and 28 years old. In our initial stage we would be
targeting the youth from Lahore, the data collected by our team suggests that we would have to shuffle
between 28,000 individuals. However, we would be setting up arrangements for 3 to 400 students as
audience from the participating institution. The target market of Lahore is flexible and elastic, as it
comprises the majority of youth population of the country.

What Was The Triple Alliance In 1914
It is human nature for people to look back at past events in retrospection, wondering if the outcome
would have changed if a decision was made differently. World War I, or the war to end all wars, began
in the summer of 1914, but it was the events leading up to it, such as the creation of alliances, which
decided the fate of the war. Alliances are formal military or political agreements between countries,
which state that the will back the other country in the event of an attack, either financially or through

The Triple Alliance was a confidential alliance, which would militarily back the other country in the
event of a conflict. Germany was the strongest power in the alliance, with a growing military, and a

army and navy, which had little funding, but it had a geographical advantage compared to Austria and
Germany, so it served as a military base 2. Austria Hungary benefited from the alliance because it
protected them from Russia, who had conflicts with Austria in the Balkans and Bosnia 3. Another
alliance which played a prominent role in World War I, was the Triple Entente, which consisted of
Russia, France, and Great Britain. The Triple Entente was created in 1907, which like the Triple
Alliance, protect each other from attacks from a foreign country. The Triple Entente was a very
powerful alliance due to the fact that Britain had the strongest, most technologically advanced navy,
while France had a flourishing economy 4. The Triple Entente also had a geographical advantage over
the Triple Alliance, since it had the ability to attack the Triple Alliance on either side. Tom

Analysis Of Flamingo By Jennifer Price
In Jennifer Price s The Plastic Flamingo she illustrates the cultural impact the pink flamingo had on
the United States. Price conforms her idea of the United State s culture by providing important
historical details to better portray and reveal the true passions of America during the rapid rise of the
plastic flamingo. Price s overall view towards the United States would be that Americans are self
conceited and obsessed with wealth. In the first passage Price describes the growing population of the
flamingo, throughout the United states, starting in Miami. Price uses historical context to emphasize
the central idea that flamingos had a rapid growth in a short period of time. She uses the quote, In the
1910s and 1920s, Miami beach s first grand hotel, The Flamingo, had made the bird synonymous with
wealth and pizzazz. to show how the growing fad would start. The quote, Since the 1930s ,
vacationing Americans had been flocking to Florida and returning home with flamingo souvenirs.
illustrates that after the hotel had been built, Americans instantly caught on to flamingos, most likely
because it symbolized wealth. The historical context portrays that Americans are obsessed with wealth
and strive to climb higher on the social ranking ladder. This ultimately reveals Price s view towards
the United States as materialistic and wealth hungry.
In the second passage Price continues the timeline of the flamingo popularity. Price starts off the
paragraph by introducing irony to

A Wrinkle In Time Meg Maker Character Analysis
Character Analysis of Meg Murry In the novel A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L Engle, Meg Murry
is a dynamic character who learns many things about herself during a journey through time and space.
Meg is stubborn and impatient, along with being whiny and angry. Although all of these traits sound
bad, they end up proving themselves to be great weapons. Throughout the novel, A Wrinkle in Time,
Meg proves to be a character who demonstrates amazing bravery, learns responsibility, and
understands love. In A Wrinkle in Time, Meg possesses a tendency to try to hold someone s hand and
force someone else to walk her through things. This shows a lack of responsibility, more importantly,
it also shows a lack of courage. Meg feels as if she acts and looks like an oddball (7), and this may be
one of the reasons why she is having trouble finding the bravery to stick up for herself. Even when
tessering with the Mrs.W s, she feels reassured when she can feel ...the pressure of Calvin s hand
about hers. (49). Although this proves to be a problem in the beginning of the book, Meg finds the
courage that she is lacking and uses it to realize what she must do to rescue Charles Wallace. While
her Father and Calvin have no idea of who should go to try to rescue Charles Wallace, Meg realizes
...oh, I see, I see, I understand, it has to be me. There is not anyone else. (124) Meg finds the bravery
to step up and do what she must do. In the end, Meg s bravery is the reason Charles Wallace is rescued
and it is ultimately, a genuine trait of hers. During Meg s journey, she also learns an important
message of responsibility. It seems that in the beginning of the book Meg is a wimp. She cries and
whines and acts stubborn which creates a childish and immature reputation for her. Which, really, Meg
is and she refuses to take responsibility for anything. This is extremely evident during the rescue of
her father. Meg assumes that her father will do everything for her and that when she found him
...everything would be all right. Everything would be settled. All the problems would be taken out of
her hands. She would no longer be responsible for anything. (98) Meg thought this to be true, and she

Essay on The Cultural Significance of The Tale of Genji
The Cultural Significance of The Tale of Genji
The Tale of Genji is one of the most important stories of ancient Japanese literature. Japanese scholar
Sin Ohno said that there is no literature written during the Heian Era which is written in as precise
language as The Tale of Genji. The author, Murasaki Shikibu, is a woman. In this tale, we can see the
concept towards marriage of women during her period.
During the Nara Era, and some time before, the concept of marriage was totally different from the
concept we know today. It is called Tsuma Toi Kon. Tsuma means wife; Toi means to visit; Kon means
marriage. In order to explain the marriage during this era, I will present an example of the typical
interactions between men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time, daughters inherit the land from their mother. This shows that men and women did
not completely rely on each other economically. Men and women generally had their own properties
and estates. Sometimes women rejected men coming to visit them at their estates after the relationship
began. On the other hand, men sometimes stopped visiting women. During the Heian era, traditional
marriage was still strong. Also, in some cases, when a man stopped visiting a woman for a while,
another man started visiting the woman. While the new man was still visiting, the old man might come
back to visit the woman; two men might even meet each other. Visiting several women at a time was
not considered rude during this era.
Women were often treated differently according to status. Women of different status often hated each
other and became jealous of each other. In The Tale of Genji, women of the court hated Kiritsubo
because the emperor loved her the most even though Kiritsubo was in a lower position than those
women. There were many problems concerning marriage during this era.
During the Heian era, however, new changes occurred. The growth of a consuming public accelerated
with the development of cities like Heian Kyo. People used to work, even wives of nobles, outside on
their farm land. Royalty started living on the money collected by the government, and also lived on
the properties and estates given by their parents. The population

Oil Spills From An Off Shore Oil Rig
Background
The oil spills from an off shore oil rig or tanker can do tremendous damage to the esosystem in the
area of the spill and expand over vast regions to affect coastlines and indigenous wildlife hundreds of
miles away. Cleaning oil spills, especially in a marine environment is important and it is a challenging
task. The methods currently used to clean oil in water can be divided into following categories: using
booms and skimmer; using oil solidifier and dispersants; adding biological agents to speed up the oil
breakdown; or in situ burning of oil spills. However, only the skimmers were designed to recover the
spill oil.1
When oil is skimmed from the surface water, much of the recovered material is water. Thus, the
storage container fill up with more water than the actual oil. For example, a weir skimmer generally
recovers 70% water and 30% oil.1 To help make storage space available for actual oil, the recovered
water may be decanted back into the surface water where it was collected.
The collection of oil using hydrophobic/oleophilic material is preferred because it allows for the
proper disposal of oil and does not cause secondary pollution. The combat global scale water pollution
arising from oil spills and industrial organic pollutant, the development of efficient absorbent material
to efficiently separate and remove oil and organic pollutants from water should be of great
significance in addressing the environmental issue.

Bell Corp. Doctrine Of Implied
WRENCH LLC. v. TACO BELL CORP. Doctrine of implied in fact contract: This consists of
obligations arising from a mutual agreement and intent to promise where the agreement and promise
have not been expressed in words. Such contracts are implied from facts and circumstances showing a
mutual intent to contract, and may arise by the conduct of the parties. In this case Taco Bell had stolen
the idea of Thomas Rinks and Joseph Shields and gave them the idea that Taco Bell will be hiring
them for doing their work or suitably compensating them. Since Taco Bell did not do anything like

a large hybrid vessel a tug of a catamaran design consisting of a barge attached to the tug. After
substantial negotiations, C H contracted with Sun Ship, Inc. (Sun Ship), a Pennsylvania corporation, to
build the vessel for $25,405,000. The contract, which was signed in the fall of 1979, provided a
delivery date of June 30, 1981. The contract also contained a liquidated damage clause calling for a
payment of $17,000 per day for each day that the vessel was not delivered to C H after June 30, 1981.
SunShip did not complete the vessel until March 16, 1982. The vessel was commissioned in mid July
1982 and christened the Moku Pahu. During the 1981 season, C H was able to find other means of
shipping the crop from Hawaii to its California refinery. Evidence established that actual damages
suffered by C H because of the no availability of the vessel from Sun Ship were $368,000. When Sun
Ship refused to pay the liquidated damages, C H filed suit to require $4,413,000 in liquidated damages
under the contract. The district court entered judgment in favor of C H and awarded the corporation
$4,413,000 plus interest. Liquidated damages are very necessary in

The Little Ice Age and Climate Change Today Essay
The Little Ice Age and Climate Change Today
Roland Ward
ES117 2A 77: Natural Disasters
8 December 2012
Keith Earnshaw
Abstract The little ice age gave us a glimpse as to how climate change can affect our society. This is
especially important today as we stand on the brink of another environmental catastrophe. The
acceleration of greenhouse gas output has irrevocably changed how mankind affects the environment.
The lessons that we can learn from studying the little ice age may lead us to understanding what we
can do stop this process.
Keywords: Climate change, volcanic eruption, global cooling, Maunder minimum

It removes the time needed for adaptation and causes a great loss of life in the process. Globally,
millions due to the direct and indirect influences of the little ice age. Every major death event and war
during this period from the black plague to Napoleon s failed campaign into Russia, the French
revolution, and the Irish potato famine are tied to the little ice age. The little ice age was preceded by a
warmer wetter period that allowed people to become reliant on certain crops and weather patterns for
their survival. Several events occurred within a short period of time to start this cooling period that
lasted 500 years. The warm period called the medieval maximum actually set events in motion. It is
hypothesized that this warm period melted global ice packs, introducing a large volume of fresh water
into the ocean interrupting the thermohaline flow. This stopped warm water from reaching the
northern climates and therefore the atmosphere grew colder because of this. The second circumstance
was the Maunder Minimum. This is a period of dormancy for sunspots. This results in less radiation
reaching earth and less warmth available. The third event was actually a series of events. Volcanic
eruptions started with a regularity of five major eruptions every century. This put a large amount of
ash and water vapor into the atmosphere which in turn reflected the sunlight, deepening the cooling

Does The Beak Size Of Probosciger Affect Its Foraging...
Does the beak size of Probosciger aterrimus affect its foraging success?
Introduction:
Probosciger aterrimus, also known as the palm cockatoo, goliath cockatoo, and great black cockatoo,
is a large black parrot of the Cacatuide family (White et al. 2011). The cockatoo Probosciger aterrimus
is often found in New Guinea, Aru Islands and Cape York Peninsula. A bird s beak not only allows it
to eat, but also to groom and feed its offspring. Proboscigar aterrimus has a long, pointed and curved
black beak that exceeds past its mouth. The mouth always remains slightly open, as the lower beak
meets its top beak only at the tip. Its beak is so massive that it exceeds the average beak sizes of much
larger species. The only species out of the parrot tribe with a larger beak is the Hyacinth Macaw, also
known as the Anodorynchus hyachinthinus (Mulawka 179). An observation by Wood (1988) states
that the Probosciger aterrimus is often seen feeding on various seeds, leaf buds, fruits, such as the
kernels of the Nonda Plum Panarian nonda. Other important food items include the fruits of Pandanus
species, Grevillea glauca and the seeds of Persoona falcota.
The species beak allows the species to sufficiently remove the shells of nuts that are difficult to break
(Mulawka 2013). Grant and Grant (2002) argue that the phenotypic variation in regards to a bird s
beak is due to environmental differences, and the food resources that are available within the

The Characteristics Of Max Weber s Bureaucracy
Merriam Webster Dictionary (online) defines Bureaucracy as a government characterized by
specialization of functions, adherence to fixed rules, and a hierarchy of authority and a system of
administration marked by officialism, red tape, and proliferation . It also implies administration by
bureau, which is an administrative unit in an organizational setup and mechanism to realize rationally
ordered social action. It comprises non elected officials, be it a public or private sector organization, is
often viewed as an apparatus or entity that rationalizes power, authority and decision making in a
society. Max Weber, a German sociologist and economist, conceived the Bureaucratic Management
Theory and believed it to be more rational and efficient. According to Weber (1946), there exists a
trichotomy of power: traditional, charismatic and rational legal or bureaucratic. Weber believes the
bureaucratic type of power to be the ideal one. Max Weber s illustrious and influential work on
bureaucracy was a substantial contribution to the discipline of public administration. He presumes
bureaucracy to be an efficient and rational organizational structure. Brian R. Fry (1989) considers
Weber s bureaucracy to be rational one the basis of it being well conversant with rules and procedures,
and possessing the specialized knowledge of the bureaucratic domain. According to M. Crozier,
(1964), key characteristics of the ideal type of bureaucracy that Weber ideates include fixed official

The Color Red In Beloved By Toni Morrison
The color, red, symbolizes a variety of different meanings like the quote from an unknown source,
Red, the single most dynamic and passionate color, symbolizes love, rage and courage. Demanding
attention, red has great emotional impact. Those who select red are aggressive, impulsive and strive
for success. In the novel, Beloved, by Toni Morrison, the author demonstrates the color red for the
future, memories, and hope. The main character Sethe, had a baby girl named Beloved, after her
youngest daughter, Denver. Before, she was able to show her love and affection to Beloved, she ended
her misery and fate by slitting her throat open. In 124, the house was considered spiteful and full of a
baby s venom . Due to the killing of her baby, Beloved haunts the whole house with a quote from the
novel, Now the iron was back but the face, softened by hair, made him trust her enough to step inside
her door smack into a pool of pulsing red light. (Morrison, 11). The glowing aura is significant to the
tragedy that took place in 124. At the beginning of first chapter, it already gives the readers the sense
of what took place and the imagery of the situation. The quote represents how the baby ghost is ready
to react to a stranger, which is Paul D. from Sweet Home, a slave plantation. Another quote form the
author, The red was gone but a kind of weeping clung to the air where it had been. (Morrison, 11).
With the color red, it can represent a variety of emotions such as, fear,

Coca Cola s Annual Report Form Essay
Coca Cola is the number one non alcoholic beverage company in the world (Coca Cola Company,
2016). Even though it is considered one of the most famous brands in the world, it is always trying to
differentiate themselves from their competitors such as Pepsi Corporation, Dr. Pepper Snapple, and
Monster Beverages (Hoovers, 2016). In the article Coca Cola Brews Up Big Plans for U.S. by Jay
Moye, states, Recently, Coca Cola has announced that they will soon produce, distribute, and market a
line of Dunkin Donuts brand iced coffee beverages, which will be sold in grocery stores, convenience
stores, and in Dunkin Donuts restaurants (Moye, 2016). This is will be a disadvantage for their
competitor Monster Inc. because Coca Cola plans to steal its customers who have a high demand for
energy/caffeine. This new announcement has Coca Cola hoping they will attract coffee lovers by
marketing and promoting these new products. Coca Cola s 2015 Annual Report Form states, The
aggregate amount of funds provided by our Company to bottlers, resellers or other customers of our
Company s products, principally for participation in promotional and marketing programs, was $6.8
billion in 2015 (Coca Cola Company, 2015). It has been determined that Coca Cola goes above and
beyond to get it s customers attention such as its holiday ads. Recently, it publicly announced their
new commercial for the holiday season. This thirty second clip consists of a teenage boy walking

  • 2. Why I Want To Be Managed I am born and raised in the capital of Sweden, Stockholm. A city renown not only for the tall, blonde people who inhabit it, but also for the water that surrounds and flows through it. Central Stockholm is made up of 14 islands which marks the start of the Stockholm archipelago, making it impossible to avoid the beautiful, and somewhat windy, water front. Apart from the big blue water bodies, green spaces abound. A whopping third of the city s area is made up of green spaces, and many of the islands are more parks than urban areas. Add a summer cottage on the countryside, most vacations spent tramping and skiing, and you have the foundation for a young girl with a strong connection with the outdoors. An important piece of the puzzle is my parents who have taught me to not only enjoy, but also respect the nature I ve spent so much time in. Even though it s mostly been the basic stuff it s given me a sense of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The starting point was my years in high school learning to become a zoo keeper. In between classes on minimizing stress when handling parrots and different lion enrichments, I also learned why those very animals are in need of our conservation programs. The decline of suitable wildlife habitats is strongly connected with exploitation of environmental resources. I also gained a deeper understanding of the daily needs, both mental and physical, that all animals have, be it wildlife or livestock. Working at a zoo with wild animals might sound like the dream job. But I wanted to get to the source of the problem, which led me down the environmental path. As it so happens, livestock production is one of the major causes of many of our environmental problems, as well as a business which rarely takes proper animal welfare into consideration. The Character of Monsieur Meursault in The Stranger Essay The Character of Monsieur Meursault in The Stranger Camus entitled his novel The Stranger because his protagonist actually was a stranger to both his associates and his surroundings. Monsieur Meursault was never really known by anyone. Nobody ever knew what really made Meursault tick and nobody ever really knew what motivated him. Meursault was a wanderer throughout his life. Meursault was also a stranger because he did not understand other people s motivations either. Meursault formed relationships easily enough and interacted with others. At Maman s funeral, Meursault paid more attention to his surroundings, the nurse with the bandaged face, the bright sunlight and the caretaker than he did his mother s body. He did not even enter a time of mourning. Meursault did not want to look at his mother or have the casket opened. Instead, he drank coffee and smoked cigarettes. This proves Meursault s distance from his mother. Meursault also is distant with the woman who eventually should become his fiancee. He enjoys Marie s company. But, it seems like her enjoys her as a woman rather than as an individual. Marie s breasts seem to be Meursault favorite part about her. Meursault is also distant when dealing with the police. She didn t want to be there, but she was forced by her Auntie. As she walked along she smelt the freshly picked white roses and felt the glistening sun on her, she loved the feeling of being alone; being isolated from everyone, she didn t want to be like everyone else and end up getting married, settle down and have kids, she wanted to explore and adventure around the world. • 5. The Importance Of War In The Film Paths Of Glory When reoriented by the trauma and darkness of war, wisdom shapes an altered perception of the value of human life, embodying the light of gratitude. The film Paths of Glory, directed by Stanley Kubrick, dealt with the harsh conditions in the trenches during WW1, and is an exploration of dehumanisation. The film discreetly questions the authority of superior officers, and the way in which the hierarchy of the army is depicted. The film was made during the Cold War era, which was the geopolitical rivalry between US and the Soviet Union. Situated in WW2, Catch 22 is a satirical novel composed by Joseph Heller, which defines the infuriating, inverted thought processes by which the military runs its soldiers lives; Any time a soldier discerns a possible route out of the war, there is a catch, and it is always Catch 22. Anti war texts construct emotionally challenging and persuasive accounts of condemnation of darkness and injustice in war. In the film Paths of Glory, Stanley Kubrick creates a visual condemnation of warfare through his portrayal of injustice. Colonel Dax is the epitome of human goodness, a characteristic which ironically causes conflict within the context of the military as demonstrated in the Testimony scene, where Dax makes a powerful statement about the cruelty of the court case. Dax s sadistic plea condemns the officials of their unjust verdict, however they prevail with an indifferent reading of the evidence. For Mireau it is the decision to order the ... In order to fully set up the LabQuest, the interval was changed to 15 s/sample. Part B was responsible for the reaction of hydrochloric acid and ammonium hydroxide. The first of three sub reactions were monitored when 2 Styrofoam cups were stacked together and placed in a 400mL beaker. The cups were filled with 50mL 2M HCl first while the initial temperature was recorded. After 3 or 4 readings, 2M NaOH was added in one smooth motion and stirred until the temperature reached a maximum or began to decrease. Take the following example as parallel to Schenck, Abrams, and the circumstances surrounding both. In the 1969 case Brandenburg v. Ohio, the Court abandoned the clear and present danger test, stating that only speech that produces or is likely to produce violent actions or illegal behavior can be banned (Cohen 32). The Court argued a difference between advocacy of ideas and incitement of unlawful conduct exists though the Court did not define it. The Court, in affirming the judgment of lower courts, deferred to Congress but also redefined the standard to protect future free speech since the times implied more stringent restrictions on speech could follow. Had the Court struck down the ruling, Congress would not have the necessary power to limit speech, and future dangerous speech would go unabated since doing so would create the rule that Congress cannot limit free speech. Rather than create this rule, the Court created a new standard by which to measure the ability of Congress to curb free speech on a case by case basis. This new standard, which more broadly protects free speech, has evolved over time, as evident in Abrams, Brandenburg, and Holder. The ability to evolve over time and to apply to different cases in lower courts highlights Holmes idea that rights were established by society and balanced by the needs of the society, according to blah blah, and thus reflects an inherent legitimacy. In fact I wish that my life was more like his and that I had the drive and determination to do what he did. Christopher Mccandless left everything he had to follow his dream. Honestly though what strikes me as the most important thing he did was his strive for independence. Chris wanted to be free of his family, his education, and free of his past life. What he did that makes me wish I could be more like him though was his courage to not only attempt to be independent but his stubbornness to see it through. • 15. The Four Stages And Functions Of The Skeletal System There are 270 bones in the human body at birth, decreasing to 206 by adulthood due to the fact that some bones fuse together as we grow. The functions of the skeletal system are numerous. It provides a framework for the body; produces blood cells; provides protection for organs; helps us breathe; acts as a warehouse for mineral storage and allows for movement. Bones in the human body form in the process called ossification. There are four stages in ossification, 1.) Embryonic bone formation; 2.) Bone growth throughout life starting in infancy through adulthood; 3.) Bone remodeling, and 4.) Fracture (breaks in the bone) repair. The visible layer of a bone is called the periosteum, which is a type of tough connective tissue. The periosteum contains blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves and cells that assist in rebuilding damaged bone tissue. Additionally, ligaments and tendons attach to the periosteum. The end of the bone is called the epiphysis, and the region between the ends is called the diaphysis. On examination of a bone, you can see the epiphyseal plate, often called the growth plate. This looks like a line dividing the diaphysis and epiphysis. Inside the bone is a hollow channel. This is called the medullary cavity, and acts as a storage place for yellow and red bone marrow. Yellow marrow gets its color from high fat content. Red marrow makes blood cells. There are 2 types of bone tissue, spongy and compact bone. Compact bone is hard and usually found in the shafts of long bones, and in the outer layer of other types of bones. (There are 4 types of bones, long, short, flat and irregular bones.) Compact bone, as its name implies, is tightly packed, making it strong and dense. Spongy bone is the interior of the bone. Spongy bone has larger spaces than compact bone, giving it the appearance of sponge. Spongy bone is also lighter, because it is not packed so tightly, and also gives a space for the red bone marrow. Intramembranous ossification is the simplest bone formation method. The flat bones of the skull, most facial and mandibular bones, and the medial clavicle are formed this way. In addition, the lines, I a child and thou a lamb, we are called by his name (Lines 17 18) further expand on the religious theme of the poem. Through this it is implied that the speaker had been a child all along;which correlates with Blake s works in Songs of Innocence. Nowhere in the First Amendment does it state that in times of war, the government can change the laws that have been made to protect the people of the United States. The master class has always declared the wars; the subject class has always fought the battles... I would rather a thousand times be a free soul in jail than to be a sycophant and coward in the streets . Debs did just that, this speech cost him ten years in prison. While passing out pamphlets giving men reasons to not join the army, he was arrested and charged with violating the Espionage Act. Again, he was only trying to inform people of the disturbing side of the war. After the Espionage Act, came the Sedition Act in 1918. The Sedition Act did not allow language tending to incite, provoke, and encourage resistance to the United States in said war . This Act infringed further on people s First Amendment rights. She uses the quote, In the 1910s and 1920s, Miami beach s first grand hotel, The Flamingo, had made the bird synonymous with wealth and pizzazz. to show how the growing fad would start. Meg is stubborn and impatient, along with being whiny and angry. Although all of these traits sound bad, they end up proving themselves to be great weapons. Throughout the novel, A Wrinkle in Time, Meg proves to be a character who demonstrates amazing bravery, learns responsibility, and understands love. In A Wrinkle in Time, Meg possesses a tendency to try to hold someone s hand and force someone else to walk her through things. This shows a lack of responsibility, more importantly, it also shows a lack of courage. Meg feels as if she acts and looks like an oddball (7), and this may be one of the reasons why she is having trouble finding the bravery to stick up for herself. Even when tessering with the Mrs.W s, she feels reassured when she can feel ...the pressure of Calvin s hand about hers. (49). The methods currently used to clean oil in water can be divided into following categories: using booms and skimmer; using oil solidifier and dispersants; adding biological agents to speed up the oil breakdown; or in situ burning of oil spills. However, only the skimmers were designed to recover the spill oil.1 When oil is skimmed from the surface water, much of the recovered material is water. Thus, the storage container fill up with more water than the actual oil. For example, a weir skimmer generally recovers 70% water and 30% oil.1 To help make storage space available for actual oil, the recovered water may be decanted back into the surface water where it was collected. The collection of oil using hydrophobic/oleophilic material is preferred because it allows for the proper disposal of oil and does not cause secondary pollution. The little ice age was preceded by a warmer wetter period that allowed people to become reliant on certain crops and weather patterns for their survival. Several events occurred within a short period of time to start this cooling period that lasted 500 years. The warm period called the medieval maximum actually set events in motion. It is hypothesized that this warm period melted global ice packs, introducing a large volume of fresh water into the ocean interrupting the thermohaline flow. This stopped warm water from reaching the northern climates and therefore the atmosphere grew colder because of this. The second circumstance was the Maunder Minimum. This is a period of dormancy for sunspots. This results in less radiation reaching earth and less warmth available. The third event was actually a series of events. • 42. Does The Beak Size Of Probosciger Affect Its Foraging... Does the beak size of Probosciger aterrimus affect its foraging success? Introduction: Probosciger aterrimus, also known as the palm cockatoo, goliath cockatoo, and great black cockatoo, is a large black parrot of the Cacatuide family (White et al. 2011). The cockatoo Probosciger aterrimus is often found in New Guinea, Aru Islands and Cape York Peninsula. A bird s beak not only allows it to eat, but also to groom and feed its offspring. Proboscigar aterrimus has a long, pointed and curved black beak that exceeds past its mouth. The mouth always remains slightly open, as the lower beak meets its top beak only at the tip. Its beak is so massive that it exceeds the average beak sizes of much larger species. The only species out of the parrot tribe with a larger beak is the Hyacinth Macaw, also known as the Anodorynchus hyachinthinus (Mulawka 179). An observation by Wood (1988) states that the Probosciger aterrimus is often seen feeding on various seeds, leaf buds, fruits, such as the kernels of the Nonda Plum Panarian nonda. Other important food items include the fruits of Pandanus species, Grevillea glauca and the seeds of Persoona falcota. The species beak allows the species to sufficiently remove the shells of nuts that are difficult to break (Mulawka 2013). Grant and Grant (2002) argue that the phenotypic variation in regards to a bird s beak is due to environmental differences, and the food resources that are available within the particular ...
