Essay On Strike
Do you every get star struck? If yes with who?
I did get sratr strucked onece, I was hosting on a red carpet on a film that was coming out that had
Leonardo DiCaprio in it and Leo was coming the carpet and I got to interview him and I was blown
away. He just has this light arounfd him that is so special and that pretty much the only time that really
ever happened, because I ve worked with Byonce, Jennifer lopex, Ive worked with a lot of top
starsand I just trat them like the humanbeigns that they are and I don t get start struck for them, but for
some reason Leonardo dicraprio that was just a difrfrent story all together. And of course I held it

So the stunts that they are asking me to do are the stunts they know I can handle. So I have yet to
question any stunts so anything that I can do those coordinators know that I can do. So this weekend I
m actrually doing in higfall traing. I will jumping off of big mats. So I haven t question any of them
yet, but that s an excellent excellent question.
What has been the worse injury you ve received while working? Most fun stunt you ve experienced?
I have never hurt myself during stunts thank goodness and I say that knowing that there is always a
possibility getting hurt. So I say that and am grateful not being hurt during a stunt. The worse I got
was someone stabbed me in the eye with a wooden sword and I have a little dot by my eye, so that s
the worse I ve ever gotten. The most fun stunt was when I got to fight on Blind spot fighting with
Rhonda Rhosy, that was prison fight was really cool and I m hoping to get more work with them.
If I ever needed to, how would I jump off a building to escape?
You don t unless you really really had to, it takes proper training. You can fall on your head or really
injur yourself. So don t do that mama. What I suggest is for emergencies is to get one of those protable
laddrs that are inexpesvier and you can use it to climb out of a two story window.
Are you working on any new projects that we should look out for?
Yes I am I m working on two scenes right now but they wont be out for a little while. One is

The Operant Manifesto By Samuel P. Huntington
The Operant Manifesto
Crucify the last two letters from my last name and change my first. Call me Emmanuel.
For all one knows, Samuel P. Huntington could be right about the reasons for this clash he describes as
being global , a clash which occurs in the near future. Let that future hold its destiny in its hands for
now. You may remember his argument, about the source of our great division being cultural and not
primarily ideological. It is this that I plan to expand on but not at the expense of explaining it in totally
non characteristic manner. To further augment how culture will cause this apparent clash of
civilizations, I have attempted to map out what I consider outstanding focuses in the process of this
clash. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
History itself is a diachronic science and constructing a true historical record coincidentally begins its
origins in the West. History starts in Mesopotamia and Egypt then somehow works its way into Rome,
then the text books, then the American psyche. It is this pattern, as opposed to the historical record
other countries keep, which Americans rely on. This goes side by side with the repetitive role Euro
centrism plays in defining our origins and identity in society. Can an aggregation of narratives that
help bridge the gap between empirical evidence that supports our origin as a species honestly rule over
this post World War Two triumphant state we live in? Can the world converge, or are the shifting
patterns of philosophy out ruling this possibility? Our environment and technology serves as a back
drop to this triumphant society we familiarize with and here it is that one of my branches from the
political/social tree emerges: There is no diversity in our culture, only dominance of all societies; this
is how we are conditioned to believe our origins are of the Western hemisphere. Can Carbon 14
accurately yield ideas as to when Megalithic structures were erected? Is our ego centrism a reaction to
the condescending belief that we Americans have created an accurate enough history of the world, and
have tapped into the truth of our saga not in favor of ourselves?

The Electronic Health Record ( Ehr )
Introduction The Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a comprehensive electronic record of patient
health information (PHI) eventuated by one or more encounters in any care delivery setting. This
longitudinal information includes, demographics, vital signs, past medical history, progress notes,
problems, medications, immunizations, radiology data and laboratory reports. The EHR organizes and
automates the clinician s workflow. The EHR has the ability to create a complete record of a clinical
patient encounter as well as complementary other care related activities directly or indirectly via
interface encompassing evidence based decision support, outcomes reporting and quality
management( Electronic Health Records(Standards), ). Health ... Show more content on

Between EHR benefits and its disadvantages, it has been very difficult for decision makers to make a
decision regarding such systems. An evaluation is needed in order for decision makers to pick a side;
whether they support EHR implementation or not. Evaluation is decisive assessment of defined
objectives, based on set of criteria to solve a given problem. Evaluation mainly serves three purposes:
to compare results with the goals and excepted effects of the system, to direct work towards the
expected result with the help of formative evaluation during development and introduction of the
system, to use the finding and outcomes of the evaluation process as an experience base for future
projects(Ammenwerth, Gräber, Herrmann, Bürkle, König, 2003).Whereas, some define evaluation as
the systematic process of information collection about program activities and features to judge and
enhance its effectiveness. Evaluation leads to the settled opinion that something about the program is
the case, which may lead to a decision to act in a certain way(Institute, 2007). The process Evaluation
describes the implementation of an information source and judging the merits and worth which

Comparing Wilfred Owen And Jarrell
War Poetry: Analysis
Both Owen and Jarrell share the pains of war. Using literary devices such as diction, imagery, and
inner thoughts. Besides just the basics of literary devices the poets also use their close affiliation of
war to help express the true disasters that not many people knew of. They possessed unusual
sensibility. When digging a little deeper you are fully able to compare Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est
and Jarrell s Death of the Ball Turret Gunner.
At first glance Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est is blatantly organized. In fact, it is comprised of
multiple stanzas. But that is Owen s purposeful structure. When delving further into the poem you
truly start to see Owen s intentions. While some poets romanticized war, Wilfred

Human Composting Is Wrong
For centuries, people have looked to burying and burning their bodies after they die. After all, they are
considered ethical and normal by almost all cultures. However, these options do not give back to the
earth in the way they should after the earth has fed us, drenched our thirst, built our homes, and given
us a place to love; without it, we could not do any of these things. An ecologist named Susanne Wiigh
Masak from Sweden has given us an alternative that will not only help the earth but then help the
people in the process by providing them with a healthier place to live. Wiigh Masak has proposed that
instead of simply disposing of our bodies after we die, we should help the earth and the living by
composting human remains, a process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is simply the way of the future. All revolutions come with a price; the American revolution came
with the price of many American lives and this smaller revolution will come with the price of
disregarding the cultural norms that society has sculpted around burial and cremation. This practice is
barely even a practice right now, but with the voices and bodies of the many who want to help our
earth, this will be the new norm someday. Giving back to the earth through human composting is the
ultimate thank you for keeping us alive and

Buddhist Doctrine of Karma
The Buddhist doctrine of karma ( deeds , actions ), and the closely related doctrine of rebirth, are
perhaps the best known, and often the least understood, of Buddhist doctrines. The matter is
complicated by the fact that the other Indian religious traditions of Hinduism and Jainism have their
own theories of Karma and Reincarnation. It is in fact the Hindu versions that are better known in the
West. The Buddhist theory of karma and rebirth are quite distinct from their other Indian counterparts.
In Buddhism the law of karma is the moral law of causation good actions give good results and vice
versa. It is the quality of an act, which determines its consequences. But what determines the karmic
quality of a deed? In Hinduism it is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To understand the Buddha s reply we have to investigate the criteria, which establish personal identity.
Is the child the same as the adult it later becomes? In the Buddhist sense we are making two
observations at two points of time in a constantly changing psychophysical entity. For legal and
conventional purposes some arbitrary criteria are used, such as physical continuity over time, or the
retention of memory. These define only a conventional person. Just as it is a conventional or fictional
person who lasts continuously from birth to death, so it is just such a conventional person who persists
from one life to another. In the Buddhist view of rebirth the only links between two successive lives is
the karmic residue carried over and an element of consciousness, called the re linking consciousness:
(paisandhi viññâna), which momentarily links the two lives. In Buddhism there is no conception of a
transmigrating soul which inhabits successive material bodies until it unites with God.
Buddhism uses the Pali term sasâra to denote the round of births in various planes of existence
governed by the law of karma. The acceptance of the validity of the hypothesis of sasâra is very
difficult for some people, while for others it is the most natural of hypotheses. Some features of the
observable world suggest it. In the Culakammavibhanga Sutta the Buddha is asked: What is the reason

relate to in their life. There were two that stood out, Gregory, the main charater, turning into an insect
and the family carrying on in life trying to not make a big deal out to the situation. In the beginning,
Gregory awakes to find himself having difficulties rolling out of bed. Slightly concerned about his
troubles with getting out of bed quickly subsided to his worries about missing work. Although some
people have experienced this in the past relating this to a bad back or old age , Gregory knew

The Complex Subject of Minimum Wage in Our Economy
The legally established minimum wage is a complex aspect of our economy. On the surface, the idea
is simple: the minimum wage fixes the minimum hourly amount an employer must pay his employee.
But at a deeper level, calculating the economic impact of a minimum wage is a challenging task full of
projections and speculations, and with this uncertainty comes contentious political debate. Economic
liberals argue that the minimum wage should be aggressively raised, while conservatives argue that it
should remain at its current state.
Ultimately, a combination of historical evidence, economic analysis, and an understanding of
psychology suggest that we should not raise the minimum wage. The minimum wage makes low skill
work less affordable to employers, meaning that fewer people can be hired. Since work experience is a
vital part of building a successful career, this means that fewer people will have the opportunity to
move up the economic ladder. Rather than institute a simple, short term minimum wage increase,
extensive training programs should be implemented to help give low skill workers real world
knowledge and skills. Likewise, employers should be granted tax incentives for hiring more
employees.
The minimum wage has had an effect upon our economy for over 75 years. When the Fair Labor
Standards Act was signed into law by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1938, it set a federal
minimum wage, stipulations for overtime, and minimum working conditions for child labor

Jason Derulo s Song The Other Side
What does an individual characterize as how a song can define themselves? Jason Derulo s song The
Other Side can define an American individual s longing to find someone else to complete themselves.
An American individual is someone who falls in love without even trying. It begins with the
friendship of two people, then slowly escalates to something more meaningful. If the individuals agree
it is the right move for them to become a couple, ignoring the feeling of doubt and the fear of losing
the other one, then it will happen. Yet, sometimes everything falls into place as if it were meant to be.
Furthermore, Jason Derulo elaborates on the contrasting ideas most individuals face with whether or
not to take a step further with the relationship.

they will in fact be boyfriend/girlfriend to one another. We ll be lovers for sure (Derulo 21). This quote
explains if the guy and the girl keep continuing the rate at which they are heading love will be
inevitable. Which means everything is falling right into place. Jason is stating kiss me right now or it
will be the last time it ever happens. So tonight kiss me like it s do or die (Derulo 22). The quote is

Key Theories Of Learning
Learning theories are conceptual frameworks that describe how information is absorbed, processed
and retained during learning. Theories of learning explain how people learn and can help teachers to
understand the meaning of things and review effectively and confidently their practice accordingly
(Wilson,2009). The main theories of learning are behaviourism, cognitivism and humanism.
Behaviourism is based on the idea that people respond to things around them. Behaviour is learned
from things seen around them or from the environment and that learning and ability to learn requires a
change in behaviour. The key figures of behaviourism are P.Pavlov, S.Freud, J.B.Watson, B.F.Skinner.
Cognitivism is based on the idea that learning is a process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Rogers(1959)only when a person is free from frustration and external impositions can
grow and develop ,setting his/her own goals, following universal values, such as honesty, love,
responsibility and autonomy. Rogers idea suggest that an external and objective reality does not exist
and individuals observe the world in their own way, having their own reality and behaving
accordingly to it. He emphasised the relationship between teacher and students, recommending a
climate of respect, trust and empathy. These ideas emphasising that the teacher should always treat
learners as unique individuals and listen to them. Maslow stressed the importance of positive
experience in order to reach autonomy and personal growth. He stated that self actualization requires
an accommodating and enabling environment, responsibility, maturity and achievement of certain
needs in a hierarchical order (Neto,2015).Based on these concepts Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs

such as self confidence and appreciation from others, self actualization needs such as discovering and

Cuyahoga River Fires
In the United States, a concerted effort is underway to reduce water pollution and thereby improve
water quality. (Keller) A case history of river pollution is the Cuyahoga River located in Northeastern
Ohio. The river is 100 miles long flowing south to Cuyahoga Falls where it then turns north until it
empties into Lake Erie. Cleveland and Akron are two major cities located along the river. The
Cuyahoga is known as an infant glacial river, this is because it is one of the youngest river created

In 1952 a fire caused a million dollars worth of damage to river boats and riverfront businesses. On
June 22, 1969 another river fire engulfed the river, this time the media coverage captured the attention
of the nation. Time Magazine described the Cuyahoga as the river that oozes rather that flows and in
which a person doesn t drown but decays . Many of the residents of Cleveland accepted the pollution
as a necessary evil because they had jobs at these factories. This article helped the people of Cleveland
pass a 100 million dollar bond to clean up the Cuyahoga River. Much of the industry that both made
Cleveland rich and caused its river to burn may never be coming back. The costs of these fires were
tremendous, but it did help lead to laws being passed to prevent this from happening in other rivers.
One such law was the Clean Water Act of 1972.
The Clean Water Act (CWA) is the primary federal law in which the US governs water pollution. The

Gender Roles in The Yellow Wallpaper and A Streetcar...
Many different depictions of gender roles exist in all times throughout the history of American culture
and society. Some are well received and some are not. When pitted against each other for all intents
and purposes of opposition, the portrayal of the aspects and common traits of masculinity and
femininity are separated in a normal manner. However, when one gender expects the other to do its
part and they are not satisfied with the results and demand more, things can shift from normal to
extreme fairly quickly. This demand is more commonly attributed by the men within literary works.
Examples of this can be seen in Tennessee Williams A Streetcar Named Desire , where Stella is

The pattern of the wallpaper is also significant because in a manner of speaking, it symbolizes solitary
confinement and it is almost like the room she is in is one resembling one seen in a mental institution,
or could also be considered to be a jail cell and the woman had been put behind bars; both cases would
involve desperately trying to find some way to escape and declare her freedom. Soon after her
imprisonment, and soon after her convincing herself there is another woman lurking within who is
behind the bars of the yellow wallpaper, the situation being seen as reminiscent of a would be prisoner
s captivity. When she herself desires to get out, demonstrated by her getting angry enough to do
something desperate (Gilman 1694), she shows strength and determination, which are typically very
masculine traits. However, they are dismissed with her later display of her own expected feminine
traits, such as codependency. When she tries to break free by opening the door, she cannot and keeps
telling her husband John, The key is under a plantain leaf! (Gilman 1695), alerting him to retrieve it to
unlock the door, and at long last when she breaks free, she celebrates, saying I ve got out at last
(Gilman 1695), declaring her victory over a force that kept her from the world.

Iraq Dishes
All around the world there are distinct cultures that have a variety of cuisines and techniques for
preparing them. This paper will discuss in depth two different dishes that come from different regions
and how its sustainability impacts its social cultural resilience. Baghdad, Iraq and Gaza, Palestine both

complex because its dish ingredients are not harm by governmental regulations and its geography
provides a vast range of arable land.
First, in The Gaza Kitchen by Laila El Haddad Maggie Schmitt, they both illustrate different Gaza

Persuasive Essay On How To Change A Flat Tire
How to Change a Flat Tire
Suppose you are driving to your local convenience store. Suddenly, you hit a sharp object, and your
tire blows. What do you do? Do you panic and call roadside assistance, or are you lucky enough to
have the knowledge to replace the tire? It is surprising that many people have no idea how to change a
flat tire. It is a shame that more people do not know how to perform such a simple and useful task.
Learning this skill will help you become more independent and get you back on the road quicker.
Luckily, it is not that hard to learn. Follow these simple steps, and you will have a new tire on your car
in approximately eight to ten minutes.
We have already set the scene for how you got a flat tire: you are driving to the local store, suddenly,
you run over something sharp and your tire pops. The key step in this process is to stay calm and try to
think logically so that you do not make any dangerous mistakes. First, find a safe place to park your
car. Make sure that you have room to work and that you are safe from oncoming traffic. Next, lock
your emergency brakes. It is very important to do this. This will prevent your car from rolling into
oncoming traffic. There are many accidents that can happen during this whole process. For example,
you or someone else could get hit by the car if the steps are not followed precisely. If you are on a
mountainous road, try to find the flattest slope to park on. Lastly, place an object under the wheel

The Renaissance period was a period of change in Europe that occurred between the 14th to the 17th

what exactly is the Renaissance man? The Renaissance man can be thought of as a man who lived
during the period of Renaissance who had knowledge of and was interested in wide branches of
knowledge. With the above given definitions it is not hard to see why Leonardo Da Vince personified
the ideal of the Renaissance man. He was a brilliant inventor, mathematician scientist and perhaps one
of the best artists that have ever lived. Looking at the life such a brilliant actor it is difficult to imagine
if someone today could ever match his achievements but I think it is possible.

In his drawings Leonardo depicts how rocks actually pile, gather and break up in mountains and
caves. For example in the The Virgin and the Rocks he depicts how the rock in the background has
been punctured and sculpted by wind and water. Jones claims that Leonardo had already discovered
that the earth was older than it was than supposedly portrayed in the bible. He further goes on to
explain the Leonardo came to this conclusion. Leonardo had discovered that shells which are found on
mountain top must have been the remains of animals that lived there before. Therefore there was a sea
in that area that was later replaced by land over a long time. Da Vinci also discovered that it was water
that is responsible for the formation of sculpting of land and it could do so only after a long period of
time. Therefore Jones asserts that Leonardo Da Vinci discovered that the earth could have not been

The Swallow Man
The next lesson was, Asking a stranger for something is the easiest way to ensure that he will not give
it. Much better simply to show him a friend with a need (62). In order to get supplies, the Swallow
Man would create stories that make strangers feel bad for him or to make it seem like they have
something in common. This is how their trust was gained. Only then would the Swallow Man mention
anything they were looking for. Using this method, the Swallow Man could get food and supplies that
strangers had no need of anyway. Another lesson of the Swallow Man was, Regret is like golden
jewelry: at the proper moment it may prove immeasurably valuable, but it is rarely wise to advertise
its presence to strangers (93). If a person is seen having regrets, then they may be taken advantage of.
That is why it is imperative that even if a person does have regrets about their actions, they should not
show that they do. Otherwise, the witness of the regret may see weakness and think that they can
overpower that person. A similar lesson is, Transitions are periods of weakness (160). This transition
is similar to regret. If a person is seen as being weak during transitions, they can be taken advantage of
in the same way they can with regret. That is why the Swallow Man avoided both of these situations
whenever he could. A lesson used in the Dwór was, Carrying light in darkness is an invitation to be

Imagery In Willa Cather s My Antonia
Through the detailed use of language, such as imagery of the Nebraskan plains and symbolism of
Antonia, Willa Cather reveals that My Antonia explores the values of the classic pioneer, such as self
dependence, perseverance, and the refusal to submit to unforgiving hardship, thus illuminating the age
of pioneering as a timeless inspiration for everyone. The American west. A land filled with misery and
struggle. A land that pushes one to their limit. A land that test the boundaries of one s strength and

A woman filled with astounding love. A woman dragged in adversity her entire life, yet still rooted
perseverance. A woman of steel, seemingly superhuman, with a heart of compassion. A woman that
could be battered, but never broken. Throughout the novel, Cather uses Antonia as the symbol of
resiliency, a resiliency that could only be found by living the true American Dream, pioneering. By
describing her never ending strength and her undying love, Cather symbolizes Antonia as the strength
of a true pioneer. In the passage Cather describe these emotions when she states, I had not been
mistaken. She was a battered woman now, not a lovely girl; but she still had that something which
fires the imagination, could still stop one s breath for a moment by a look or gesture that somehow
revealed the meaning in common things...All the strong things of her heart came out in her body, that
had been so tireless in serving generous emotions (Cather 207). Using her passage, Cather describes
Antonia as a weathered old lady, who has been toughened by the land. Yet, through this withered
appearance, Antonia s imaginative inner quality still shines through. Through Antonia, Cather draws a
picture of an enduring source of compassion and warmth, often providing strength to other characters,
such as Jim. Through Antonia, Cather conveys to her audience that the true strength of the pioneer
comes from within. She elucidates Antonia s character to illustrate the pioneer s ability to survive

The End Of The Traditional Family Era
The End of the Traditional Family Era Families have changed significantly over the last decades,
leading the ideal traditional American family to become, if not already, extinct. Although popular in
the 1950 s, a traditional family is no longer sought after as modern families have evolved to
incorporate diversity and acceptance into the household structure. In present day, the majority of
households encompass non traditional families, accordion families, divorce, and modern technology.
Traditional families have been thought to consist of a heterosexual male and female joined together in
marriage. However in modern society, the terms marriage and family are not limited to a specific
definition. Gay marriages have led the revolution in changing the concept of families. From New York
s Marriage Equality Act in 2011, to the Supreme Court s ruling of legalizing gay marriage throughout
the United States in 2015, marriage equality has come a long way. Same sex couples have the
opportunity to marry their significant other, while also having the option to grow their family through
adoption or artificial insemination. In Visual Portfolio, the TV show, Modern Family, introduces a
contemporary version of Norman Rockwell s Freedom From Want (Colombo et al. 59). Modern

Lay Dying, the main symbol is the wagon that carries Addie Bundren to Jacksonville, her home.
Similarly, the main symbol of Little Miss Sunshine is the bus that takes the Hoover family to Redondo
Beach, California. These two objects go more into depth as the movie progresses. The bus is a clear
representation of the Hoovers and their dysfunction. In the film, as the reader watches the family
inside the car, they could see the contrast between the small space and the area surrounding the bus.
The family uncomfortably communicates similarly to how the characters in As I Lay Dying do. As
each family becomes exposed to themselves, it provides an even more connection to each other.
Furthermore, as they go on their journey, multiple problems occur to the bus. The first problem
exemplifies the Hoover s position in society. When the horn breaks a police officer pulls the family
over to the side. Ironically, Richard tell the family to act normal...Like everything is normal. (Ardst

Squeezed Persimmons By Yiyun Li
Randy Benoit
ENGL 122H 02 (Dorrill)
Assignment 1: Li Essay
Draft 1, 3 March 2015
Squeezed Persimmon The short story Persimmons was written by Yiyun Li. Li was born in 1972 in
Beijing and moved to the United States in 1996 to go to college. She originally studied immunology at
the University of Iowa, but after taking a writing course she started writing fiction. She earned her
master of fine arts in 2005 with a focus on fiction (Yiyun). Persimmons is a short story told by a group
of older men sitting around a tree. They are in the middle of a drought, so their crops and animals are
dying, and they are left with nothing to do. They tell the story of Lao Da, the protagonist of the story.
After his son was murdered, Lao Da planned revenge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term Lao Da means the boss or the leader of the group ( Lao ). The narrators show their respect to
Lao Da by calling him Lao Da and treating him as their leader, even though he is a murderer. The
reason as to why these soft persimmons resort to violence is because the county officials treat the
lower class people, such as farmers, like shit. These soft persimmons are eventually squeezed too hard
and can t take it anymore. If the people of the town were treated fairly, they would not have to resort
to such violence that Lao Da resorted to. Before Lao Da took revenge, he tried as much as he possibly
could to seek justice for what happened to his son. He tried multiple riots with his fellows, but the
county seats just pushed him aside and treated him as if he was a dog. After that he decided to wait
until New Year s Eve, when everyone would be at their own house to individually murder the
seventeen county officials, starting with the one who murdered his son. The narrators seem to believe
that the county officials Squeezed him enough for fun, and that they Squeezed a murder out of it (Li
182). Lao Da is not only a soft persimmon, but also a heroic

History Of The Bubonic Plague
When a matter such as the Bubonic Plague strikes in a world unexposed to the current technology and
information citizens tend to create false cures and treatments. These treatments are highly dangerous
and unhygienic. A common treatment used was bloodletting, which was the act of extracting blood
from a patient to remove the disease. Similar to bloodletting was boil lancing which is when you take
a knife to slice the buboes until they bursted. Buboes were a symptom of the Bubonic Plague
described as a swollen inflamed lymph node. Others however believed in superstitious practices, for
example burning aromatic herbs and bathing in rose water or vinegar. Some more eccentric treatments
included witchcraft and potion making which many were persecuted for practicing. Now it is known
that the treatments above were inefficient in curing and or preventing the bubonic plague. Then we
have the anti seminists who believed that Jews were the ones to blame for the spreading of the disease.
This was the only way they believed they could gain God s forgiveness and used religion as the
answer to the unknown. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The side effects were very similar to the common everyday flu consisting of fever, chills, vomiting,
diarrhea, and dire aches and pains. The differentiating factor between the two was the Buboes that we
mentioned earlier, also known as plague boils, that appear on the skin under the armpits or on the
groin. The Buboes could reach up to the size of an egg, or even an apple. The most surprising act of
the Bubonic Plague was how quickly this disease took the life of the affected individual. Even the the
most healthy, could contract the massive epidemic at any give

Loneliness In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Do you ever take a moment to stop and realize what you are looking for in a companion? For instance,
we tend to look for someone to love us for who we are and to raise a family with. It s simply human
nature. Nobody wants to be alone, not even for even a moment. We are scared of the thought of being
alone for the rest of our lives. Mary Shelley s life experiences influenced her writings and her book,
Frankenstein, which conveys the idea of the need for a companion, due to loneliness. Throughout
Shelley s life, she went through pain and loss. Shelley illustrates her difficulties through her character,
Frankenstein, and his journey. Mary Shelley s life experience motivated her to write Frankenstein.
Prior to her novel, she experienced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shelley gives us background knowledge of Victor s personality and how he had a strong desire to
create a spectacular creation due to his desire for science. Victor felt lonely which led him to create
Frankenstein which he feared. Frankenstein is frightened and sad because people are frightened of his
appearance. Having Victor share that he will never make another monster again, causes Frankenstein
to feel miserable and sad. In an article by Kmatz, they explain how in Shelley s life she has expressed
her feelings of guilt and unhappiness towards her own experiences through Frankenstein (Kmatz). Her
guilt over the losses in the life of her loved ones and the misery of the unfair events that occurred all
through her life. Both Shelley and Frankenstein felt these emotions on a personal level. When
Frankenstein was helpless and with no knowledge it led him to unhappiness. (Kmatz) Frankenstein
only seeked love but got the opposite in return. Both author and character never got the chance to truly
feel love and fill the void they felt for a long period of time. They both had to fight and keep their

Teacher and Student Relationship
The teacher student relationship is very important for children. Children spend approximately 5 to 7
hours a day with a teacher for almost 10 months. We ask ourselves what is considered a good teacher?
All of us have gone through schooling, and if fortunate had a favorite teacher. A positive relationship
between the student and the teacher is difficult to establish, but can be found for both individuals at
either end. The qualities for a positive relationship can vary to set a learning experience approachable
and inviting the students to learn. A teacher and student who have the qualities of good
communications, respect in a classroom, and show interest in teaching from the point of view of the
teacher and learning from a student will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers understand that if this behavior continues in the classroom and if they do nothing to prevent
this from happening, the outcome proves to be disastrous for both types of participants. The student
will conclude that his or her behavior is permissible, and will draw away from learning, therefore it is
essentially important for the teacher to explain to the child the importance to learn. Though we
understand that learning cannot be forced. Learning becomes a process for an individual where he or
she feels comfortable with learning whether it s in a classroom or at home. Mike Rose explains in
Lives on the Boundary that It is what we are excited about that educates us (106). Rose s quote can be
applied to children at an early age, just as well as it can be applied to adults. Definitely children learn
when they enjoy learning, but also they need some control over the teacher (s) decisions. Authoritarian
control is often destructive to students who are in the primary grades, and eventually upper grades
teachers have difficulty dealing with children who were taught with an authoritarian teacher (Jones
215). Children in primary grades feel the urge to talk about their problems, fears, or even show their
knowledge, but at the same time they want to be listened too. The student will feel valued and
respected. Students feel flattered when the teacher eventually gives them the option of contributing,

How Does Water Teach Siddhartha
Siddhartha is taught not by Buddha, but by the behavior and the movement of the water that surrounds
him. The motion and life likeness of water can be classified as an important symbol in Buddhist
thinking. Water to Siddhartha and his mentor, Vasudeva, is not just something for them to ferry people
across, but a teacher to help them understand the way life works. The water taught Siddhartha many
things but most importantly it taught him to live in the present, that the past always comes back, and
that life is transitory. First, when Siddhartha comes to Vasudeva and is taught in the way of a ferry
man, the water teaches him that there is no time. Before coming to Vasudeva, Siddhartha kept
changing what he wanted to learn from, each not being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It symbolizes how in Buddhism the now is perfect, that everything comes back to you, and in life you
have to go through many things to gain different aspects of a whole. In Buddhism the world is perfect
how it is not, just like how water teaches Siddhartha that the now is good and he should live in the
present not the past or the future. In Buddhism it also states that everything come backs to you, just
like the water telling Siddhartha that his past will always come back even if he lives in the present, it
will always come back to him. The water also teaches Siddhartha the importance of how life is
transitory, or not permanent. It teaches Siddhartha this because Siddhartha goes through many
journeys not just one, and is telling him that life will not stop after you finish your journey but keep
going, just as water does. In Buddhism it s the same thing because life keeps going and you are always
in a constant state of journeying to achieve parts of a whole, enlightenment. The water is a symbol in
Buddhist thinking because it teaches the exact things Buddhism does. The water is a metaphor for the
journey of the Buddha, or Siddhartha, learning from multiple different ways of living, and trying to
find one that would suit his

The Social Action Theory and Symbolic Interactionism Essay
The Social Action Theory and Symbolic Interactionism Max Weber believed that individuals were the
key to society. He developed social action theory, the purpose of which was to find out why
individuals function in certain ways. He thought that every social action performed by an individual
had a meaning attached to it. Social actions are the result of conscious thought processes that take into
consideration the reactions of other individuals. Weber identified four types of social action which
include, reason (an instrumentally rational or calculated action), value or rational action (determined
by belief), emotion or effectual action (dependent upon the feelings of the individual), and traditional

These properties could be exchanged for money in the economic market he was of the opinion that
this position in the economic market place determined class position so that in theory there would be
as many class positions as economic positions. Therefore the class structure of society is essentially an
occupation structure. Social action theory recognises other divisions apart from simply class and also
recognises that consumption of goods (by which status groups are stratified) is just as important as the
production (by which class is stratified). It also draws attention to the importance of the individual and
their conscious actions. It does not however place enough emphasis on class divisions, as it tends to
concentrate more on status. Symbolic interactionists reject structure and believe that to study society,
the only way to do so is to concentrate on the individual. Both theories believe in understanding the
individual through the use of empathy. George Herbert Mead was mainly concerned with the
importance of language. Language distinguishes humans from animals and allows us to be aware of
our individuality. The use of symbols is a key element of language. They are used to give meanings to
particular events or objects and are learned by socialisation. Humans make them to assist them to

The Body By Steven King Analysis
How does a child receive the necessary parental guidance growing up if their parents and all other
adults in their life are abusive, neglectful, and at best uninvolved? Throughout Steven King s novella
The Body it becomes evident that children will try to find guidance in almost anything. But, as King
demonstrates in his novella, the most common source of guidance comes from a child s friends. All
four boys, Gordie, Teddy, Vern, and Chris replace the rolls of their parents by comforting, protecting,
and counselling each other through tough times. First, the boys replace the guidance rolls of their
parents by comforting each other. This can be scene multiple times throughout the novella and
probably produces some of the most dramatic scenes in the Novella. The boys comfort each other in
multiple ways with the most common way of comfort being through words. At the dump, when Milo
and Teddy have the whole name calling incident, Teddy is cut deep emotionally by Milo s rude
comments about his father. This is where King implements the first dose of parental comfort from a
friend into the story. Walking along the tracks after leaving the dump, Teddy breaks down and begins
to sob, this is when Chris steps in to comfort Teddy. Chris comforts Teddy by telling him, Lissen,
Teddy, what do you care what a fat old pile of shit like him said about your father? Huh? I mean,
sincerely! That don t change nothing, does it? What a fat old pile of shit like him says? Huh? Huh?

Critical Chain By Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt
Summary of Critical Chain novel
Critical Chain is a novel that wrote by Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt. In the Novel, he used novel mode to
describe that how to use Critical Chain Theory to fix manage problem. Specially, he used common
sense and logical deduction to give us a clearly description about the complex manage problems. This
special is interested me a lot that attract me to fail into the story that can follow Dr. Goldratt s ideas. In
the book, Dr. Goldratt talks about how a professor trying to attain his tenure at a university s business
school. Dr. Glodratt acted as the professor to show us how the teaching philosophy could be changed
and how to apply the Theory of Constraints to project management. This novel has many surprises for
me that give me a lot of opinion about project management and I got many points to think about what
I need to be.
In the book, the author talked about the reasons which cause the project schedule delay. The author
used a problem called students syndrome which happens in the students, and also I think it s normal
happening in employee community. In students life, there is a phenomenon happens a lot. When the
professors assign homework, such as if a homework could be finished in one week, but most of times
the students will ask for two weeks to finish which mean that the students like to have longer time to
make sure they have enough times. In this case, if the professor agrees the request to make the due
date in two weeks, what will happen? The

The Cultural Differences Between British And British Culture
Having been born in America, the American culture differs slightly from the British culture
particularly due to the influence the British exerted on North Americans during the colonial period.
Further, most of the Americans are immigrants from other countries, with most of the people coming
from the United Kingdom and Ireland. The eminent cultural differences between the two cultures is
that the behavior of people in the British culture are laid back while their American counterparts are
more hectic and appear to be in a hurry. The British do not like to engage in conversations with
strangers and tend to stick to their close friends while Americans are social to strangers in public
places.
While the British prefer pub food, the North Americans prefer fast foods. There are differences in the
cuisine and dialect, which sets the two cultures apart. Further, in Britain people are more obsessed
with soccer, tennis, and rugby while North Americans prefer baseball, basketball, hockey, and
American football. On the roads, Americans keep right while British keep left. Americans show more
passion in whatever they do compared to the British.
One may say that the American culture is a ramification of the British culture since the history of the
two countries is intertwined and shares a lot of similarities. The British are the forefounders of
America and thus were instrumental in passing down some cultural practices to the Americans, for
example, language and a common body of literature, wit, common law tradition, and the rule of law.
Assignment 2: Cultural Competency:
I have had a wrong impression of a Japanese student whom I met during a symposium and although I
later regretted my mistake and sought to learn from it. I had formed a metal picture of the individual
based on stereotypes I see on television and in the movies. Since the individual was short, I saw them
as less attractive and had expected that they were less intelligent. However, when they had to present a
point, I was left in awe as they were flawless and fluent in what they were explaining. That proved me
wrong on my first impression of them. I had also made impressions on the student s accent and
speech. Such showed that one tends to lean and like what they

Case History on Best Buy
Best Buy, Inc. Case Study: Case History

Company Background:
Best Buy Co., Inc. operates as a multinational retailer of consumer electronics within the services
industry. Founded in 1966 under the name Sound of Music, Inc., Best Buy underwent a name change
in 1988. It was founded by Mr. Richard M. Schulze and is headquartered in Richfield, Minnesota. Best
Buy operates under a Board of Directors but is a publicly traded company owned by stockholders. The
company operates retail stores and call centers and conducts online retail operations under a range of

Competitive Environment:
Best Buy s competitors range between online retailers (Amazon), big box retailers (Target and Wal
Mart), club stores (Sam s Club and Costco), specialty electronic retailers (Apple), and home
improvement stores (Home Depot and Lowes). Some Best Buy rivals compete purely on price, while
others compete on experience. Best Buy believes that online retailers will have their price advantage
reduced as state governments around the country re evaluate sales tax laws that allow some online
competitors to offer lower prices. Additionally to combat price wars Best Buy also has price matching
policies for other brick and mortar retailers and during this last holiday shopping season even matched
some online retailers prices (Best Buy to Match Online Prices, 2012).
With the elimination of Best Buy s biggest rival, Circuit City, they are left to focus on competitors
such as Amazon, Wal Mart, and Home Depot. None of these stores compete directly with Best Buy in
every segment, but each of them offers products that compete directly with Best Buy. As shown in
Exhibit 1, while Best Buy does compete with Home Depot and Lowes, the effect of appliances on
Best Buy s sales is quite small, accounting for only 5% of sales in 2011. Because there are no stores
which offer a value proposition exactly like Best Buy, it presents a problem when analyzing financial
statements of Best

I did get sratr strucked onece, I was hosting on a red carpet on a film that was coming out that had Leonardo DiCaprio in it and Leo was coming the carpet and I got to interview him and I was blown away. • 3. The Operant Manifesto By Samuel P. Huntington The Operant Manifesto Crucify the last two letters from my last name and change my first. Call me Emmanuel. For all one knows, Samuel P. Huntington could be right about the reasons for this clash he describes as being global , a clash which occurs in the near future. Let that future hold its destiny in its hands for now. You may remember his argument, about the source of our great division being cultural and not primarily ideological. It is this that I plan to expand on but not at the expense of explaining it in totally non characteristic manner. To further augment how culture will cause this apparent clash of civilizations, I have attempted to map out what I consider outstanding focuses in the process of this clash. The ... History starts in Mesopotamia and Egypt then somehow works its way into Rome, then the text books, then the American psyche. It is this pattern, as opposed to the historical record other countries keep, which Americans rely on. This goes side by side with the repetitive role Euro centrism plays in defining our origins and identity in society. Can an aggregation of narratives that help bridge the gap between empirical evidence that supports our origin as a species honestly rule over this post World War Two triumphant state we live in? Can the world converge, or are the shifting patterns of philosophy out ruling this possibility? Our environment and technology serves as a back drop to this triumphant society we familiarize with and here it is that one of my branches from the political/social tree emerges: There is no diversity in our culture, only dominance of all societies; this is how we are conditioned to believe our origins are of the Western hemisphere. Can Carbon 14 accurately yield ideas as to when Megalithic structures were erected? Is our ego centrism a reaction to the condescending belief that we Americans have created an accurate enough history of the world, and have tapped into the truth of our saga not in favor of ourselves? ... • 4. The Electronic Health Record ( Ehr ) Introduction The Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a comprehensive electronic record of patient health information (PHI) eventuated by one or more encounters in any care delivery setting. This longitudinal information includes, demographics, vital signs, past medical history, progress notes, problems, medications, immunizations, radiology data and laboratory reports. The EHR organizes and automates the clinician s workflow. Health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Between EHR benefits and its disadvantages, it has been very difficult for decision makers to make a decision regarding such systems. An evaluation is needed in order for decision makers to pick a side; whether they support EHR implementation or not. Evaluation is decisive assessment of defined objectives, based on set of criteria to solve a given problem. Evaluation mainly serves three purposes: to compare results with the goals and excepted effects of the system, to direct work towards the expected result with the help of formative evaluation during development and introduction of the system, to use the finding and outcomes of the evaluation process as an experience base for future projects(Ammenwerth, Gräber, Herrmann, Bürkle, König, 2003).Whereas, some define evaluation as the systematic process of information collection about program activities and features to judge and enhance its effectiveness. Evaluation leads to the settled opinion that something about the program is the case, which may lead to a decision to act in a certain way(Institute, 2007). The process Evaluation describes the implementation of an information source and judging the merits and worth which includes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparing Wilfred Owen And Jarrell War Poetry: Analysis Both Owen and Jarrell share the pains of war. Using literary devices such as diction, imagery, and inner thoughts. Besides just the basics of literary devices the poets also use their close affiliation of war to help express the true disasters that not many people knew of. They possessed unusual sensibility. When digging a little deeper you are fully able to compare Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est and Jarrell s Death of the Ball Turret Gunner. At first glance Wilfred Owen s Dulce et Decorum Est is blatantly organized. In fact, it is comprised of multiple stanzas. But that is Owen s purposeful structure. • 6. Human Composting Is Wrong For centuries, people have looked to burying and burning their bodies after they die. After all, they are considered ethical and normal by almost all cultures. However, these options do not give back to the earth in the way they should after the earth has fed us, drenched our thirst, built our homes, and given us a place to love; without it, we could not do any of these things. An ecologist named Susanne Wiigh Masak from Sweden has given us an alternative that will not only help the earth but then help the people in the process by providing them with a healthier place to live. Wiigh Masak has proposed that instead of simply disposing of our bodies after we die, we should help the earth and the living by composting human remains, a process ... All revolutions come with a price; the American revolution came with the price of many American lives and this smaller revolution will come with the price of disregarding the cultural norms that society has sculpted around burial and cremation. • 7. Buddhist Doctrine of Karma The Buddhist doctrine of karma ( deeds , actions ), and the closely related doctrine of rebirth, are perhaps the best known, and often the least understood, of Buddhist doctrines. The matter is complicated by the fact that the other Indian religious traditions of Hinduism and Jainism have their own theories of Karma and Reincarnation. It is in fact the Hindu versions that are better known in the West. The Buddhist theory of karma and rebirth are quite distinct from their other Indian counterparts. In Buddhism the law of karma is the moral law of causation good actions give good results and vice versa. It is the quality of an act, which determines its consequences. But what determines the karmic quality of a deed? In Hinduism it is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To understand the Buddha s reply we have to investigate the criteria, which establish personal identity. Is the child the same as the adult it later becomes? In the Buddhist sense we are making two observations at two points of time in a constantly changing psychophysical entity. For legal and conventional purposes some arbitrary criteria are used, such as physical continuity over time, or the retention of memory. These define only a conventional person. Just as it is a conventional or fictional person who lasts continuously from birth to death, so it is just such a conventional person who persists from one life to another. In the Buddhist view of rebirth the only links between two successive lives is the karmic residue carried over and an element of consciousness, called the re linking consciousness: (paisandhi viññâna), which momentarily links the two lives. In Buddhism there is no conception of a transmigrating soul which inhabits successive material bodies until it unites with God. Buddhism uses the Pali term sasâra to denote the round of births in various planes of existence governed by the law of karma. The acceptance of the validity of the hypothesis of sasâra is very difficult for some people, while for others it is the most natural of hypotheses. Some features of the observable world suggest it. • 10. The Complex Subject of Minimum Wage in Our Economy The legally established minimum wage is a complex aspect of our economy. On the surface, the idea is simple: the minimum wage fixes the minimum hourly amount an employer must pay his employee. But at a deeper level, calculating the economic impact of a minimum wage is a challenging task full of projections and speculations, and with this uncertainty comes contentious political debate. Economic liberals argue that the minimum wage should be aggressively raised, while conservatives argue that it should remain at its current state. Ultimately, a combination of historical evidence, economic analysis, and an understanding of psychology suggest that we should not raise the minimum wage. The minimum wage makes low skill work less affordable to employers, meaning that fewer people can be hired. Since work experience is a vital part of building a successful career, this means that fewer people will have the opportunity to move up the economic ladder. Rather than institute a simple, short term minimum wage increase, extensive training programs should be implemented to help give low skill workers real world knowledge and skills. Likewise, employers should be granted tax incentives for hiring more employees. The minimum wage has had an effect upon our economy for over 75 years. When the Fair Labor Standards Act was signed into law by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1938, it set a federal minimum wage, stipulations for overtime, and minimum working conditions for child labor ... Jason Derulo s song The Other Side can define an American individual s longing to find someone else to complete themselves. An American individual is someone who falls in love without even trying. It begins with the friendship of two people, then slowly escalates to something more meaningful. If the individuals agree it is the right move for them to become a couple, ignoring the feeling of doubt and the fear of losing the other one, then it will happen. Yet, sometimes everything falls into place as if it were meant to be. Theories of learning explain how people learn and can help teachers to understand the meaning of things and review effectively and confidently their practice accordingly (Wilson,2009). The main theories of learning are behaviourism, cognitivism and humanism. Behaviourism is based on the idea that people respond to things around them. Behaviour is learned from things seen around them or from the environment and that learning and ability to learn requires a change in behaviour. The key figures of behaviourism are P.Pavlov, S.Freud, J.B.Watson, B.F.Skinner. Cognitivism is based on the idea that learning is a process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The river is 100 miles long flowing south to Cuyahoga Falls where it then turns north until it empties into Lake Erie. Cleveland and Akron are two major cities located along the river. The Cuyahoga is known as an infant glacial river, this is because it is one of the youngest river created from the melting of the glaciers. It is estimated that the river is about 13,000 year old. On June 22, 1969 another river fire engulfed the river, this time the media coverage captured the attention of the nation. Time Magazine described the Cuyahoga as the river that oozes rather that flows and in which a person doesn t drown but decays . Many of the residents of Cleveland accepted the pollution as a necessary evil because they had jobs at these factories. This article helped the people of Cleveland pass a 100 million dollar bond to clean up the Cuyahoga River. Much of the industry that both made Cleveland rich and caused its river to burn may never be coming back. The costs of these fires were tremendous, but it did help lead to laws being passed to prevent this from happening in other rivers. One such law was the Clean Water Act of 1972. The Clean Water Act (CWA) is the primary federal law in which the US governs water pollution. The Act states the objectives of eliminating releases of high amounts of toxic substances into water. The CWA made it unlawful to dump toxic materials into navigable, waters unless given a permit. The permit is given through the EPA s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System. Some are well received and some are not. When pitted against each other for all intents and purposes of opposition, the portrayal of the aspects and common traits of masculinity and femininity are separated in a normal manner. However, when one gender expects the other to do its part and they are not satisfied with the results and demand more, things can shift from normal to extreme fairly quickly. This demand is more commonly attributed by the men within literary works. Soon after her imprisonment, and soon after her convincing herself there is another woman lurking within who is behind the bars of the yellow wallpaper, the situation being seen as reminiscent of a would be prisoner s captivity. The key step in this process is to stay calm and try to think logically so that you do not make any dangerous mistakes. First, find a safe place to park your car. Make sure that you have room to work and that you are safe from oncoming traffic. Next, lock your emergency brakes. It is very important to do this. This will prevent your car from rolling into oncoming traffic. There are many accidents that can happen during this whole process. For example, you or someone else could get hit by the car if the steps are not followed precisely. If you are on a mountainous road, try to find the flattest slope to park on. The Renaissance man can be thought of as a man who lived during the period of Renaissance who had knowledge of and was interested in wide branches of knowledge. With the above given definitions it is not hard to see why Leonardo Da Vince personified the ideal of the Renaissance man. He was a brilliant inventor, mathematician scientist and perhaps one of the best artists that have ever lived. Leonardo had discovered that shells which are found on mountain top must have been the remains of animals that lived there before. Therefore there was a sea in that area that was later replaced by land over a long time. Da Vinci also discovered that it was water that is responsible for the formation of sculpting of land and it could do so only after a long period of time. In order to get supplies, the Swallow Man would create stories that make strangers feel bad for him or to make it seem like they have something in common. This is how their trust was gained. Only then would the Swallow Man mention anything they were looking for. Using this method, the Swallow Man could get food and supplies that strangers had no need of anyway. Another lesson of the Swallow Man was, Regret is like golden jewelry: at the proper moment it may prove immeasurably valuable, but it is rarely wise to advertise its presence to strangers (93). If a person is seen having regrets, then they may be taken advantage of. That is why it is imperative that even if a person does have regrets about their actions, they should not show that they do. Otherwise, the witness of the regret may see weakness and think that they can overpower that person. A similar lesson is, Transitions are periods of weakness (160). This transition is similar to regret. If a person is seen as being weak during transitions, they can be taken advantage of in the same way they can with regret. The End Of The Traditional Family Era The End of the Traditional Family Era Families have changed significantly over the last decades, leading the ideal traditional American family to become, if not already, extinct. Although popular in the 1950 s, a traditional family is no longer sought after as modern families have evolved to incorporate diversity and acceptance into the household structure. In present day, the majority of households encompass non traditional families, accordion families, divorce, and modern technology. Traditional families have been thought to consist of a heterosexual male and female joined together in marriage. However in modern society, the terms marriage and family are not limited to a specific definition. Gay marriages have led the revolution in changing the concept of families. From New York s Marriage Equality Act in 2011, to the Supreme Court s ruling of legalizing gay marriage throughout the United States in 2015, marriage equality has come a long way. Similar to bloodletting was boil lancing which is when you take a knife to slice the buboes until they bursted. Buboes were a symptom of the Bubonic Plague described as a swollen inflamed lymph node. He developed social action theory, the purpose of which was to find out why individuals function in certain ways. He thought that every social action performed by an individual had a meaning attached to it. Social actions are the result of conscious thought processes that take into consideration the reactions of other individuals. Weber identified four types of social action which include, reason (an instrumentally rational or calculated action), value or rational action (determined by belief), emotion or effectual action (dependent upon the feelings of the individual), and traditional ... These properties could be exchanged for money in the economic market he was of the opinion that this position in the economic market place determined class position so that in theory there would be as many class positions as economic positions. Social action theory recognises other divisions apart from simply class and also recognises that consumption of goods (by which status groups are stratified) is just as important as the production (by which class is stratified). It also draws attention to the importance of the individual and their conscious actions. It does not however place enough emphasis on class divisions, as it tends to concentrate more on status. Symbolic interactionists reject structure and believe that to study society, the only way to do so is to concentrate on the individual. Both theories believe in understanding the individual through the use of empathy. George Herbert Mead was mainly concerned with the importance of language. The Body By Steven King Analysis How does a child receive the necessary parental guidance growing up if their parents and all other adults in their life are abusive, neglectful, and at best uninvolved? Throughout Steven King s novella The Body it becomes evident that children will try to find guidance in almost anything. But, as King demonstrates in his novella, the most common source of guidance comes from a child s friends. All four boys, Gordie, Teddy, Vern, and Chris replace the rolls of their parents by comforting, protecting, and counselling each other through tough times. First, the boys replace the guidance rolls of their parents by comforting each other. This can be scene multiple times throughout the novella and probably produces some of the most dramatic scenes in the Novella. The boys comfort each other in multiple ways with the most common way of comfort being through words. At the dump, when Milo and Teddy have the whole name calling incident, Teddy is cut deep emotionally by Milo s rude comments about his father. This is where King implements the first dose of parental comfort from a friend into the story. Walking along the tracks after leaving the dump, Teddy breaks down and begins to sob, this is when Chris steps in to comfort Teddy. The Cultural Differences Between British And British Culture Having been born in America, the American culture differs slightly from the British culture particularly due to the influence the British exerted on North Americans during the colonial period. Further, most of the Americans are immigrants from other countries, with most of the people coming from the United Kingdom and Ireland. The eminent cultural differences between the two cultures is that the behavior of people in the British culture are laid back while their American counterparts are more hectic and appear to be in a hurry. The British do not like to engage in conversations with strangers and tend to stick to their close friends while Americans are social to strangers in public places. While the British prefer pub food, the North Americans prefer fast foods. There are differences in the cuisine and dialect, which sets the two cultures apart. Further, in Britain people are more obsessed with soccer, tennis, and rugby while North Americans prefer baseball, basketball, hockey, and American football. On the roads, Americans keep right while British keep left. Americans show more passion in whatever they do compared to the British. One may say that the American culture is a ramification of the British culture since the history of the two countries is intertwined and shares a lot of similarities. The British are the forefounders of America and thus were instrumental in passing down some cultural practices to the Americans, for example, language and a common body of literature, wit, common law tradition, and the rule of law.
