The event I went to go see was a Guest Master Class instructed by Barthold Kujiken. This event was
held on Sunday afternoon in Ferguson Hall at the University of Minnesota. It was held in a small
auditorium similar to a class setting. Barthold was accompanied by a student flutist and pianist. A lot
of time was spent with the flutist and pianist playing a part of a piece, and him teaching and
demonstrating on how to improve a piece and explaining the fundamentals of the music. It was a very

Bruges Conservatory and the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and The Hague, where he studied the

The Department of Defense takes up the majority of the US budget; it not only pulls in over a trillion
dollars of taxpayer money yearly, but it also is unable to accurately account for the exact whereabouts
of those funds year after year. The DoD does, of course, offer its own budget, however, due to the
byzantine and ineffective nature of the Federal Bureaucracy, it is impossible to verify if the money is
even so much as used for its intended purpose. Looking at this budget, two sections stand out as
bloated, which is a statement in a budget that is packed with Pork barrel spending: Procurement, and
Maintenance. Ultimately, should these two areas of the budget be reasonably downsized, and the
others thoroughly audited, the DoD s operating expenses could be reduced drastically, much to the
taxpayer s benefit. Procurement is, by far, the easiest section of the budget to pare down; a few simple
reforms in regards to the process by which government contracts are granted, coupled with the
elimination of several pork barrel programs, could save federal government millions of dollars. In
regards to contracts, all deals should be strictly held to the original price and time frame; While that
might seem like an obvious step, it is in fact a great leap forward for the DoD, where most programs
go over budget. A Poignant example of this is the F 35 fighter jet, which has cost taxpayers 100 billion

innovations brought around at the end of the 1930s. The 1920s had a rise in the popularity of dance
music, and the recording industry was getting started. This was also the start of the Big Band Era
(guitaristsource.com). Guitar makers started experimenting to develop a new, louder, guitar. Electrical
amplification was developed by the radio industry in the 1920s (howstuffworks.com). In 1931, George
Beauchamp and Adolf Rickenbacker would go on to develop an electromagnetic pickup they would
later use to create the electric guitar. This first model would go on to be called the Frying Pan ,
because of its resemblance to the cookware. This first model was often played flat on the lap
(howstuffworks.com). Eventually, electric guitars began commercial production in the 1930s
(Goertzen 435). In 1939, Les Paul, an acoustic guitarist, developed a new type of electric guitar by
placing the old pickup on a solid block of wood. This new solid body guitar didn t have the feedback
problems that the hollow bodied electric guitars had. Also, it had a greater sustain than earlier models

rock was, I would have to pick school. The reason I picked it, would be because I am forced to go by

Before leaving home for Rutgers, I was a fry cook at a burger restaurant. The usual pace was slightly
overwhelming and all my co workers had 2+ years of experience with the company. One night, about
two months after I started working there, it was so incredibly busy that the line of customers measured
out the door. As I frantically tossed food into hot grease, I fumbled with a box of jalapeño poppers and

abbreviation for predict. Pre Crime is a organization that predicts crime, and precogs are people that
predict crime as well. Minority Report also has a paradox because Agatha claims that John has a
choice to change his future. Pre Crime says that everything the precogs predict is accurate, although
John killed Crow a few minutes after he was predicted to. Also, Agatha s visions showed Lamar

Countless novels contain allusions to outside references in order to convey a deeper meaning and
understanding of a topic or idea. Allusions enhance the experience for the reader, allowing him to
delve into the authors mind and fully understand the intended message. In All the Pretty, Cormac
McCarthy subtly laces the plot with biblical references to enhance the plot and give the reader a more
meaningful understanding of the novel s events.
A prominent biblical reference in All the Pretty Horses is Don Hector, the betrayer. When the reader
first meets Don Hector, he seems a nice enough man. He gives John Grady and Rawlins jobs on the
ranch, compliments John Grady on his knowledge of horses, and allows him to tame the horses of his
