James D. Watson
James D Watson was a brilliant scientist who made important discoveries about the structure of DNA
and genealogy. James was very intelligent from the beginning. He graduated from high school at the
age of 15 and immediately after he enrolled at the University of Chicago. One of his teachers from
Chicago said that Watson must have been very keen . He said this because he had given him 2 A s, and
I don t give very many A s. The famous biologist Paul, Weiss, who was James Watson s instructor,
said Watson never took any notes in class, yet he came out top of the class at the end of the semester.
James was born on April 6th, 1928, to an average class family. His father, James Dewey Watson, was
a businessman who worked for a correspondence school. Watson said that his father s job was awful
and he would have been better off working as a schoolteacher. Jean Watson was his mother. She was
employed at the University of Chicago as a secretary. His mother also volunteered for the Democratic
Party, and she held party meetings in the basement of the Watson home. ... Show more content on

Essay On Endangered Plants
Biodiversity
Imagine this: you step outside and feel the barren, rough, red Earth beneath your feet. There s not a
single plant in sight no rustling of the leaves, no mighty towering trees to block the severe winds, and
the scorching heat of the sun searing upon your face because there s no shade. And when you take a
whiff of air, you feel nothing filling up the space inside your lungs, liberating your body s activities.
What s wrong with this picture? It s not possible, of course. Even though plants aren t the building
blocks of life, they re pretty close and without them, most of life wouldn t exist YOU wouldn t exist.
In my research, I will go in depth about biodiversity which defines as a quantity of the relative
diversity among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based upon the same experiments and samples taken, it was concluded that the atmospheric nitrogen
pollution was caused by the burning of fossil fuels and rigorous agriculture (Ananthaswamy, 2004).
According to the 2004 release of the Threatened and Endangered Species System (TESS) information,
there are 599 endangered plants and 147 threatened plants in the US alone (TESS, 2004). These
listings rely on a very stern legal system. Whether they can be labeled rare , threatened, or endangered
, it is determined by the measure of endangerment the species sustain. An endangered type is one that
is in jeopardy of extinction throughout all or a major fraction of its range. A threatened species is one
that is likely to become in danger of extinction in the future (UFWS, 2004).
Ways for prevention of plant dissolution/ rewards
Here in DeKalb County, we have several different threatened plant species. They are: Bay star Vine,
Flatrock Onion, Granite Rock Stonecrop, Indian Olive, Piedmont Barren Strawberry, and the Pool
Sprite Snorkelwort. We have one endangered plant: it is the Black spored Quillwort (UFWS, 2004).
There are over 542 discrete approved ecosystem recovery plans. Some plans cover more than one
species while a few have different plans covering various parts of their ranges (TESS, 2004). One
organization is the Botanic Gardens Conservation International. It has just recently been added as a
participant of the bigger

The Aims and Principles of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act...
The Aims and Principles of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act
In the decades prior to the national reform of the Poor Law in 1834, the characterisations of the
administration were of variety rather than uniformity. The social and economic changes at this time
produced many problems for those that were responsible for the social welfare. Many areas
throughout the country though found solutions to this problem within the legal frame work of the
Elizabethan Poor Law of 1597 1601.
In the initial stages the amendment act was set up to reduce the amount of poor rates that were being
paid. In the first ten years of the amendment act the amount of relief being paid was reduced to a
national average of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way to stop this from happening was to reduce the fifteen thousand parishes into six hundred Poor
Law unions. There was a great willingness to keep the poor in one place and so by 1843 there was one
hundred and ninety seven thousand one hundred and seventy nine poor incarcerated into the
workhouses. The workhouses were often described as bastilles.
I do not agree with those who say that every man must look after himself, and that intervention by the
state, will be fatal to his self reliance, his foresight and his thrift…. It is a mistake to suppose that
thrift is caused only by fear; it springs from hope as well as fear. Where there is no hope, be sure there
will be no thrift . (Winston Churchill, Liberalism and the Social Problems, 1909, p. 209).
Many administrators were outraged at the idea of Central Government becoming involved in the
Amendment Act because as far as they were concerned the old system was more than sufficient for the
needs of the poor. The Poor Law Guardians then set about obstructing the Poor Law Amendment Act,
as they thought it was an unnecessary addition to the current act. The worst of the activities to block
this new act was in Huddersfield in the West Riding of Yorkshire. (As was).
The Amendment Act was supposed to help the poor but instead all it did was alienate those

Religion has become one of the biggest diverse topics in today s society. Throughout the last weeks
we have taken the journey to learn about different religions and in this paper I will attempt to take you
on that journey with me learning about the Muslim religion. The Muslim religion dates all the way
back to 570 BC when the prophet Muhammad was said to be born. Muhammad is considered by
Muslims to be the last continuing chain of prophets who has come to restore what they consider real
religion. (Fisher, 2005, Para. 1). The Muslims scared book is called the Qur an, which according to the

Upon arrival to the Mosques it looks like it was covered in snow because it was all white with just a
little of silver trimming on the edges. It is nothing spectacular there are no bright windows or a big
cross to signify what it is like most churches I have seen. The inside was just as simple, out of respect
there are no shoes worn in the Mosque praying areas and there were also separate room for prayer
based on gender. There was also a common area with books for learning. Although it was simple the
Mosques was very pretty and it was very refreshing to see a place where all that seems to matter was
praise and worship and not who has the best what. After having a tour of the Mosque I sat down with a
young Muslim by the name of Asja Jackson, she is twenty four year old and had converted from being
a Baptist and here is a summary of the interview.
Me: Good Afternoon, How are you?
Asja: Good how are you?
Me: I am doing just fine, first before we begin let me first thank you for taking the time out of your
day to talk to me and answer my questions.
Asja: You are welcome.
Me: Ok, the first question I d like to ask is; how long have you been a practicing Muslim?
Asja: I have been an active practicing Muslim for 9 years.
Me: That is a long time, what made choose to practice Islam over other religions? You were a Baptist
at one point correct?
Asja: Yes I was. However when I was practicing Christianity while growing up I wasn t able

National Patient Safety Goals
THE JOINT COMMISSION Patient safety one of the driving forces of healthcare. Patient safety is
defined as, the absence of preventable harm to a patient during the process of healthcare or as the
prevention of errors and adverse events caused by the provision of healthcare rather than the patient s
underlying disease process. (Kangasniemi, Vaismoradi, Jasper, Turunen, 2013) . It was just as
important in the past as it is day. Our healthcare field continues to strive to make improvement toward
safer care for patients across the country. The Joint Commission was founded in 1951 with the goal to

Identifying patients correctly and 01.03.01 Eliminate transfusion errors related to patient

made one of their first goals to improve the accuracy of identifying patients to reduce or eliminate
patient identification errors. This continues to be an accreditation requirement. Their
recommendations to do this are to use at least two patient identifiers when administering medications,
and when providing treatments or procedures. Acceptable identifiers may be the individual s name, an
assigned identification number, telephone number, or other person specific identifier. Patient room
number or physical location may not be used as an appropriate identifier. Healthcare provides should
re identify the patient with each encounter, each medication pass, and each procedure. There have
been procedures and protocols throughout the country have been put into place to make the care
provided to patients safer. Another element of this requirement is that all containers should be labeled
in the patients presences after using the patient identifiers

Dnssec Case Study
DNSSEC is a set of DNS extensions that authenticates the origin of zone data and verifies its integrity
by using public key cryptography. That is, the extensions permit DNS clients to ask the questions, Did
this DNS data really come from the zone s owner? and Is this really the data sent by that owner?
DNSSEC provides three distinct services: key distribution by means of KEY resource records stored
in the zone files, origin verification for servers and data, and verification of the integrity of zone data.
DNSSEC relies upon a cascading chain of trust: The root servers provide validation information for
the top level domains, the top level domains provide validation information for the second level
domains, and so on.

Nationalism Dbq Essay
How did our country get here today? Were we always united in our decisions? At this point in time,
the early 19th century, the U.S. had just bought Texas and California from Spain after the territories
had gained their independence from Mexico. The U.S. believed that it was their destiny to inhabit the
new territories. This is called Manifest Destiny. This caused nationalism, or the feeling of pride or
loyalty to a nation. Many events brought the United States together with nationalism and separated it
by sectionalism.
One event that created nationalism was the Battle of New Orleans. This was the last battle of the War
of 1812, even though it occurred after the Treaty of Ghent was signed. The United States won this
battle against the British and had gained a new war hero, Andrew Jackson. Document 4 supports this
because the Battle of New Orleans inspired the Star Spangled ... Show more content on

These tariffs essentially split the U.S. into three sections, the North, the South, and the West. They all
had different views on the tariffs such as, the North really liked them. Having the tariffs on European
goods, meant the North, who were the manufacturers, would gain a lot more profit from people
wanting to buy their goods for cheaper than the European goods. On the other side, the South really
did not like the tariffs. The Europeans tended to buy their goods, and in order for that to keep on
happening, the South had to pay the tariffs and buy the more expensive European goods. Finally, the
West didn t really care about the tariffs. They just wanted roads and canals in their area, since it was
only inhabited recently. Document 6 supports this because in the picture it shows southerners as
skinny and poor and the northerners are depicted as well off and wealthy. This is like this because, the
Southerners were having to pay more, becoming poorer, and the Northerners were gaining more
profit, becoming

The Creation Story Of Adam And Eve Analysis
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you
were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return . In The Creation Story of Adam and Eve ,
those are the words God tells Adam and Eve when they failed to obey God s only rule, not eat from
the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Throughout the story we follow their relationship with God, in
the events that began with their creation and ended in their exile. Therefore, in my sole opinion based
on The Creation of Adam and Eve , the story depicts Adam and Eve s relationship with God and the
underlying meaning of their existence and the oedipal conflict that is portrayed. It suggests that maybe
the story is a tale told in order to understand why we exist and our personal purpose as well as to
recognize the effects of the authoritarian commands God expressed to Adam and Eve. The phrase
existence precedes essence as told by Sartre means, we exist first and then we do things that define
ourselves and live our lives in whatever way we choose. This is the case in, The Creation Story of
Adam and Eve , when God created Adam from the dust of the ground and Eve from one of Adam s
ribs. He brought them to life in the Garden of Eden, but it was up to them to create a purpose to exist.
Therefore, Adam and Eve s actions of disobedience were perhaps a way of God testing humankind by
showing them paradise (Garden of Eden) and what we were to lose if we d disobeyed him. God gave
Adam a garden to take care of, animals to name, and a wife for companionship. And they both got
banished from paradise for choosing to have the freedom of disobeying and as a result they have to be
responsible for their actions. For instance, in the Existentialism Lecture , it says that from an
existentialist point of view, We must choose what to do, where to go, and most importantly, what is
meaningful to us and why. With choice comes two related concepts: freedom and responsibility . Eve s
wrongful actions are the cause of why women to this day have had to fight harder than men to achieve
their place in society. As for Adam, his actions brought men to work for a living, which nothing in life
is easy, and you have to strive for it, it

The different kinds of Samurai Samurai signore nobles are mostly conquering, feudal lords used to

Merger And Acquisition Of A Merger
A merger takes place when two companies joint together to form a single company. A merger is alike
to a takeover or acquisition, except that in the case of a merger remaining stakeholders of both
companies involved retain a shared interest in the new company. By contrast, in an acquisition one
company purchases a bulk of a second company s stock, creating an uneven balance of ownership in
the new combined company. Acquisition refers to buying out another company and taking it into the
fold of the acquiring company. This is done by paying the acquired company, the value of its capital
and depending upon the situations, a premium over the capital amount. Acquisitions and mergers both
involve one or multiple companies purchasing all or part of another company. The main difference
between a merger and an acquisition is how they are financed. By acquiring a small company with a
good technology, a big company can develop a competitive advantage for example; recently Facebook
acquired Instagram and Whatsapp. This means to stay competitive; company needs to remain on top
of technological development and buyer will need to pay an amount if they want to acquire the
company and for seller, that premium represents their company s future growth. Merger or acquired its
increases the capital of small company. HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING HR should know the
vision, and strategic plans of the company need of the company, management of all aspects of HR.
Essentially, good HR planning will ensure

The Characteristics Of Odysseus In Homer s Odyssey
The main character in the Odyssey, Odysseus, displays many valuable traits throughout the novel,
which helped support the main idea that cunning, endurance, and loyalty are more valuable than brute
strength Odysseus was incredibly clever and cunning. He solved many problems this way which was
different than other heroes who relied on brute strength. Odysseus recalled the horror in a telling of his
encounter with Polyphemus his story is a gruesome story of cannibalism ...but starting up laid hands
on my companions...Tearing them limb from limb, he made supper, and ate as does a mountain lion...
(pg. 85) and he has to come up with a plan to stop Polyphemus. Odysseus was able to come up with a
plan to escape from Polyphemus and defeat him [Seized] the olive stake, sharp at the tip, they plunged
it in his eye (pg. 87)and him and his men were able to leave the island. Odysseus defeated Troy by
getting inside their gates with a symbol of surrender and then returning to defeat the Trojans, he gave
himself quite the reputation This is also the sort of deed that brave man [Odysseus] did and dared
within that wooden horse where all we Argive chiefs were lying, bearing to the Trojans death and
doom. (pg. 34) and he had stories told about his cleverness and cunning, even if his memory brought

Consolidation, Stagnation, Decline, and Rejuvenation. We will look at that how wellington , Bhutan
and Antarctica lies on the bend of PLC. Different elements have been considered to assess that how
these destinations have come to the point of revival. Discussing the first stage that is Exploration
which could be summed up as a couple quantities of visitors going by an unexplored destination
where they may confront trouble in finding their direction. The following stage being Involvement
where a traveller will take part in meeting neighbourhood individuals where they will discover a spot
to stay, nourishment to eat and use nearby administrations like transportation. Improvement phase is
the phase, where explorers will have a chance to stay in special lodgings, have different restaurant
choices for sustenance. This will be useful for local people as well as they land positions.
Consolidation stage being that in which visitor go in an expansive volume, where they have lodging
choices. In the long run this will prompt a rival in the business sector. Stagnation stage being the

Impact Of Reconstruction During The Reconstruction Period
Unit 1 Paper The United States changed dramatically during the reconstruction period. After the
reconstruction period, the United Stated continued to adjust well as we see it change economically and
politically. Though the adjustment continued to go well, the change that occurs after reconstruction is
emphasized with industrialization and the impact that industrialization has in certain regions of the
U.S and on the people. Along with the new economy came with complications that affected the
improvement of conditions in work and in life. During the Gilded Age, there is a difference between
the North and South economies. When industrialization started to consume the United States, the
North quickly adapted to the change as cities begin to develop allowing citizens to move to industrial
cities in search of new opportunities such as employment. On page 592 it states the rapid expansion of
factory production, mining, and railroad construction in all parts of the country except the South
signaled the transition from Lincoln s America to a mature industrial society demonstrating how the
South failed to adapt to the new industrial society. The South did not really adapt to industrialization
as they stuck to their agricultural ways. The new industrial society created the interest of the American
West. The American West begins to capture the attention of many people as it becomes an area of
opportunity. On page 602, Frederick Jackson Turner argued that on the Western frontier the

Superior Temporal Gyrus Research Paper
It s hard to understand how people can say dance is easy when it s so complex to be thinking about
every single part of your body at the same time making sure it s in perfect position from one
movement to the next throughout a whole routine and even before that during the hour long practices
for months. The body endures too much with bumps and bruises, stretching and soreness, and pops
and cracks but that s only the physical aspect of what a dancer has to go through. The mind is worked
and conditioned along the journey to improve what you see externally. The brain undergoes critical
thinking of the song playing, beats, timing, when and how to move certain body parts until the end of
every performance.
The Superior temporal Gyrus is responsible for processing sounds with the primary auditory cortex.

Abstract
A balanced scorecard is a tool to provide management a way to bridge the gap between the
organization s strategy and vision and the operational processes used to do business. It enables the
company to look at more than just the financial targets, but to include nonfinancial measures such as
customer service, internal business processes and more. These intangible measures provide better

These financial measures may be appropriate for short term goals, but not provide enough focus on
long term outcomes.
The customer perspectives strengths are that these measures focus on customer satisfaction. These
measures address the link between customer complaints and profitability. It is expected that as
complaints are reduced, sales will increase. The weaknesses of the customer perspectives are that the
focus on customer complaints does not address the silent customers; that just go to a competitor when
they become dissatisfied with Frieda Fizz products. These measures are appropriate for managers
focus on product quality and the related sales growth. Managers may want to expand the customer
perspective measurements to include measures on customer service as they expand into more
geographic areas.
The internal business perspectives strengths are that they address capacity and production cost
efficiencies. These measures are weak in that they do not necessarily ensure quality of production or
effective use of the production line. Supervisors may be tempted to overproduce product. The
managers may want to focus on where there is a bottleneck in production or how long stock sits in the
warehouse. These measures are appropriate as it addresses controlling waste and ensure the plant is
optimally utilized.
The learning and growth perspective strengths address controlling costs through reduction of injuries
and improving job performance through training.

anatomically and they also spoke about who created the names of the fossils and creatures. Tim Elam
informed us about dinosaurs being similar worldwide, with evidence of fossils, because the land was

spoke about saurischian versus ornithischian. There are various different between these two orders but

Effects Of A Solar Eclipse
What is a solar eclipse? What effect might a solar eclipse have on one? A solar eclipse occurs when
the moon passes between the sun and the earth. This makes the sun align behind the moon as it blocks
the sun s beautiful and gleaming rays. When the sun is behind the moon, it seems as if it is as dark as
night and makes the sun look like a ring of fire high in the sky. During a solar eclipse, many things can
happen that one would be astonished by observing such as, the actual object, changes in the
atmosphere, animals and people s behavior, and emotional and sensual feelings. The object that
appeared in the sky had everyone s attention and concentration, not only that day, but weeks before.
Everyone had been talking about the upcoming solar eclipse. Teachers planned lessons, and posters
lined the walls to inform students of expectations and safety measures. A solar eclipse, an event
appealing to the eye, is an unforgettable phenomenon that can leave someone with the experience of a
lifetime.
On the day of the eclipse, the view of the sun was oddly bright and dim. The sky was as bright as a
sun rise early in a summer s morning. It was so bright I was tempted, yet scared to look at it. The
whole Middleton High School separated to go outside and watch the eclipse in different areas. The
location where we watched the eclipse only allowed us to see the moon partially blocking the sun. We
all saw the sun slowly lose its rays as the moon raced to appear in front. Although the total

The Land Registration Act 1925
The statement above will be thoroughly considered and discussed .To commence with it needs to be
established what a register is.
The Land Registration Act 1925 first presented the structure of registered land, but later it was
cancelled out by Land Registration Act 2002 due to reviews and room for reforms. There are three
main sections: property register, proprietorship register and charges register.
Firstly Property register, this describes the property (the nature), the address and plans which are in
correspondence with the actual boundaries of the specific properties and also third party rights and
rights which benefit the property.
Furthermore there is Proprietorship register, this consists of the class of title and any entries which
affect the owner s right of disposal such as restrictions which could hinder how the property is dealt
with. Restrictions will also be included in the Proprietorship Register found under S40 Land
Registration Act 2002 , this results in the restriction limiting how the registered proprietorship can
handle the land. It requires that a certain procedure is followed when disposing of the land
.Furthermore this coincides with overreaching, this is where the purchaser of trust land can take the
land free from the beneficial interest under that trust
Lastly Charges register, which contains charges, in addition to other charges that have impact on the
land, in correspondence with the land any covenants and third party rights such as

Is Paul Appealing Or Appalling Book Summary
Paul was a Jew, born in Tarsus, but brought up in Jerusalem at the feet of Gamaliel, educated strictly
according to our ancestral law...at least that is how Luke puts it in Acts of the Apostles, where he
documented the actions of the followers of Jesus. This book of the New Testament serves as a
summarized history of the first Christians. Regardless of Paul s former life as a Jew, so successful at
spreading Christianity that the idea that he is a co founder of Christianity, second only to Jesus, is an
extremely popular one. It could not have been an accident that he was able to accomplish so much.
Paul s conversion to Christianity is well documented but, aside from a few important details about his
education, not much is known with certainty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Jewish community rejected the lax attitude concerning Mosaic Law. The Galatians, who were
brought up in an area of the world dominated by a polytheistic, law based religion, sought comfort in
the more disciplined Jewish approach. Paul: Appealing or Appalling? is the surprising title of the first
chapter in a book about the differing opinions, written by Christian scholars, Marcus J. Borg and John
Dominic Crossan. Their account of Paul s controversial stance on a variety of major issues like gender
roles and slavery helps to understand the historical significance of Paul s evangelism. Jews were easier
to reach than Gentiles, because of their sacred education, therefore the issue of circumcision was
definitely an issue among the first converts to Christianity. The question on everyone s mind was, Do
you have to be a Jew to be a Christian? Judeans were taught that salvation would only come to those
circumcised according to the custom. Once in Jerusalem, Paul went to the elders to announce God s
grace in the lives of the Gentiles. They rejoiced in his message, but took notice of his advice against
Jewish law,

Why Do Romeo And Juliet Allow Their Children Looking To Date
From Shakespearean time to present day, the dating and marrying of certain people has been put in the
hands of teenagers. In the 14 to 1500 s parents always had a say in who their son or daughter was to
marry. Things today aren t like that, but in some cases parents don t allow their children to date certain
people. Some parents restrict who their teens date, and others want to allow their children freedom and
to have their own independence in preparation for becoming an adult. Different parenting styles have a
major impact on their teen s future. Parent s today should have the right to prohibit who their children
date. Seeing beyond looks is difficult for many teens looking to date. As soon as they see someone
attractive they instantly fall in love. Romeo and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the play Romeo is beyond upset when he finds that his love for Rosaline is not
mutual. Romeo even moves into a depressed, mopey state, in which he locks himself in his room and
cries constantly. (Act I, scene 1) Romeo moves on quickly and falls in love with Juliet based off of her
astounding beauty at the Capulet party. (Act I, scene 5) The love between the two was shared and after
only one night in the Capulet orchard they had fallen in love and agreed to marry the following
morning. (Act II) Before Romeo, Juliet was a very independent woman and objected to marriage.
Lady and Lord Capulet knew Paris was a good person and Juliet didn t even consider giving him a
chance at the party. (Act I, scene 3) Juliet also didn t know anything about Paris. If she would have
given him a chance and actually gotten to know him, she could have fallen in love with him rather
than basing love off looks with Romeo. Romeo wasn t a bad person, but he did lead Juliet to do and
say things she wouldn t normally say, like threatening to kill herself through desperation throughout
the play and disobeying her parents. Parents who take the time to

The Meditations of Rene Descartes Essay
The Meditations of Rene Descartes
In 1916 Rene Descartes wrote What I wish to finish is . . . an absolutely new science enabling one to
resolve all questions proposed on any order of continuos or discontinuous quantities. (p8 Methods
Meditations). He made this ambitious statement at the young age of twenty three. Rene s ambition
would take him far but it kept him from becoming the Aristotle of the modern age. The Meditations
were an attempt to solve the many questions about life, existence, and God. At the time of their
publishing many philosophers did not quit accept his writings. Today however the Meditations are
widely read and reviewed throughout the world. In the First Meditation Rene begins by stating that he

He would continue and urge us not to trust what we see because there is no way of being certain about
anything. Methodological doubt was his basis on life claiming that everything is to be doubted. Rene
Descartes first begins to come to some kind of belief by the Third Meditation. Rene states . . . I am
certain that I am a thinking being; but do I not therefore likewise know what is required to make me
certain of something? (p113 Methods Meditations). He goes on to say that God could not possibly be
deceitful, it would not be his divine nature. This is when things start to come together for Rene. After
acknowledging that a divine God could not possibly be evil Rene goes even further to say that he
(God) must exist. This equation sounds strange but to this point Rene never really considered if God
even existed or if he was simply a part of his imagination. Rene s motto, De omnibus dubitandumest
(everything is to be doubted), lead him back to basic proofs. His theory of analytical geometry was the
first major contribution to the field of science. This theory helped to offset some of his doubts and in
many ways gave him the realization that some qualities in life can be proven. For Descartes rule of
everything to be doubted was only part of his philosophical life. While taking this rule very serious he
did not recommend it as a way of life. Descartes was only interested in the study of wisdom. He knew
that the wisdom learned would be a sort of

Alopecia Case Studies
I have been treating Evan Daniels since 1998, when I diagnosed him with a severe case of Alopecia
areata multilocularis, comonly known as Alopecia or Alopecia areata. Alopecia is an autoimmune
mutation where the white blood cells deem certain hair folicles as a virus and proceed to attack them.
Regularly, the symptoms of Alopecia include spots of baldness, white indentions on the fingernails,
and lightened patches of skin. This is usually not a serious disease.
However, in Evan s case, his immune system severely reacts to this mutation, causing the rest of his
body to act as if it is fighting a very severe virus, as a normal body might react to the flu, or a severe
cold. His symptoms include quick, seemingly random feverish outbreaks, emmense

Theme Of Evil In The Kite Runner
The majority of literature at its core, can display a power struggle between the forces of good and evil.
These overarching ideas represent the human condition and how a certain state of being brings out
these concepts from deep within the hearts of men. This is exemplified in Khaled Hosseini s The Kite
Runner, in which evil permeates characters in the form of greed, abuse of power and deceit. The
themes of evil act as an affliction on Amir s mind in his treatment of Hassan, within Baba s sins
toward his family and religion and Assef, who s psychological insanity drove him toward cruel
exploits of others. Amir s character represents a development of the human spirit. He is inherently
good in his thoughts and actions early on in the story, but the reader can see him begin to evolve. The
actions of others, more specifically his father and Hassan cause him to become plagued with
aforementioned themes of evil. He sees himself largely influenced by greed and an ability to abuse his
power over Hassan. The evil metamorphoses Amir into a character driven by self interest at the
deprivation of others. Amir feels challenged for his father s love by Hassan and uses his social status
and educated ability to impose himself over Hassan when they read together. This abuse of power
shows the corruption within Amir that develops into greed as Baba continues to distance himself from
Amir. This selfishness climaxes when Hassan is defiled by Assef and Amir says

Marching Band Monologue
It all started at the end of last summer. I m the Drum Major of my school s band, and for that reason, I
was the most nervous I had ever been in my life. At any one point, there were over 150 people
watching my every move, and it was nerve racking. Last summer, they watched me through the
hardest time of my entire life.
I was given the position in April, but until August, it was essentially just a title. Four months of
virtually nothing staring at a musical score, just before I am expected to dive headfirst into leading a
marching band. It was completely absurd, yet somehow, I managed. It was hard work, and for that
first month, I was faced with failure more often than success, but my confidence grew, and I began to

Auxin Is Better Than Natural Auxin Analysis
Plant hormones are chemical signals released by a tissue and delivered to a receptor tissue. Auxin is
the hormone most commonly found in plants. Auxin regulates and aids in the development of plants
(Kazan 2013). The acid growth hypothesis states that an acidic ph will enhance the effects of auxin in
seed development and plant growth. Radish seeds were planted in acidic soil and administered natural
and synthetic auxin in order to test for the effect of synthetic auxin in an acidic soil on plant growth.
The reason for this experiment is to test whether or not synthetic (man made) auxin works better than
natural auxin in growth development. It was found that the natural kind of auxin works better in an
acidic environment than synthetic auxin.

After the process of pollination and the development of the embryo stops, a seed is formed. The seed
will remain dormant until it comes in contact with water which causes gibberellins (a type of plant
hormone) to be released which will trigger the layer covering the embryo to produce enzymes needed
to break down the endosperm and release the nutrients that are stored there. Those nutrients will be
used by the embryo for growth. Hormones are chemical substances that help and regulate plant growth
and aid in seed germination (Gutzler and Brewer 2013). There are seven different types of plant
hormones and they all trigger specific reactions. One of the first hormones discovered in plants was
Auxin. Auxin is known to aid in stem elongation and shape direction of growth (Gutzler and Brewer

6. The Indian trade, industry and economy had been stagnating in the years preceding 1991 due to
Govt regulating the industry, and state protection policies of licensing, high tariffs and administered

fiscal policies and a controlled deregulation.

The British Colonies in the New World Essay
The British Colonies in the New World
Several historians often examine significant points in history in attempt to discover the reasons the
events occurred. The aforementioned statement applies to the American Revolution as countless
number of books has been written concerning the American colonies decision to declare independence
from England. Woody Holton and Bernard Bailyn are two historians who have probed the subject and
reached two separate decisions about the revolution. Focusing on the fears and threats the colonists
felt, Bailyn identifies England as the threatening force against the colonists, while Holton gears
towards those within the colonies.

Then there is power, a word that is richly connotative (Bailyn 56). Bailyn identifies the colonists
understanding of the term as the dominion of some men over others, the human control of human life:
ultimately force, compulsion (Bailyn 56). Power is not necessarily evil by its lonesome. However,
when power is coupled with the intentions of men, it becomes evil. The connection between the terms
is that liberty is a victim of power for the aggressiveness of power was the fact that its natural prey, its
necessary victim, was liberty, or law, or right (Bailyn 57). Therefore, the two could not be
intermingled. If one longed for liberty, he or she could not stand for power simultaneously for the
mere existence of power negates liberty.
The concepts of power and liberty are present in both Holton s Forced Founders and Bailyn s
Ideological Origins of the American Revolution. However, the terms are utilized in Bailyn s book and
implied in Holton s. In regards to Bailyn s interpretation, the colonists feared England s want for
power as it interfered with their interests. The colonists believed that England was corrupted due to
individual need for power. Because of the alleged corruption, the colonists right to liberty were
threatened for there existed a conflict of interest between the colonists and Britain. Mother England

treatment elsewhere and continues to make sure they don t get sent to Plaszów. At the end of the

In the movie, Amon Goeth, the commandant of the Plaszów camp, sits on his balcony and shoots Jews
with no reason to. During one of the early scenes, a young girl yells, Bye Jews, bye Jews! as the
Jewish are rounded up into the Kraków ghetto, showing that the hatred of the Jewish is learned and
accepted by both young and old. One person can convince many others that their way is the right way
and the only way.
Another important point is that one person can change the world. It is really important to the film
because Schindler was just one man and he alone, with some help from Stern, saved so many lives. He
could have saved one life and still made a difference, but he gave over one thousand people another
chance to live. Each life he saved is a life not lost to the horrors of the Holocaust. He did all he could
possibly do and still didn t think it was enough. During one scene in the movie, a young Nazi boy
finds a girl he knows and her mother. He tells them to come with him and he ll put them in the good
line. Even though he had to follow orders, he still tried to help them. Sometimes it only takes one
person to change another s life for the better.
III. Importance of the Film

How Did The Iroquois Accomplish
Iroquois: Native Life, Assimilation, and War
The Iroquois nations, one of the oldest and most prestigious tribes in the history of all Native
Americans. In this paper I will be showing why the Iroquois ended up siding with the English through
the French and Indian, and Revolutionary wars through factors of colonization. I will also be showing
some features of their culture, considering the iroquois are not well known in the western United
States, and discussing the fall of the once great tribes. The main reason I ve chosen the Iroquois is
because of my own prior knowledge of the Iroquois, and their relationship to lacrosse. I started
playing lacrosse my freshman year of highschool. The very first thing I learned, before any stick skills
or any basics of the game, was the history of it. Our coach insisted that we knew the history and the
culture of the game, and that we respected it. I was intrigued by how interesting the game was. The
game was made as a form of war. Lacrosse was sometimes even referred to as Little brother of war . It
would be called this because injury, even death were common during a lacrosse game. When two
tribes had a disagreement, but didn t feel the need to have a legitimate war, the opposing tribes would
send their best warriors to the battlefield and play a lacrosse game. Games would be played to a score
of 5 7, but considering how long the fields could be, these games could take hours, days even,
however long it took for one of the tribes to win,

How Did The Cash Register Change The World
Imagine running a business without a cash register. Imagine how unorganized, chaotic, and difficult it
would be to handle money through every employee without the cash register. This is no longer a
problem for any business anymore thanks to James Ritty. The cash register was invented in 1879 by
James Ritty, a saloonkeeper in Dayton, Ohio. (thecorememory.com). The prototype machine had a
large, clock like face and a row of keys for entering amounts from 5 cents to 95 cents (by fives) and
from $1 to $9. A mechanism inside the machine recorded total sales. (americanhistory.si.edu). This
was how the first cash register worked, and was the base model for many more to come. He created
this invention because he believed that his employees were stealing money from his saloon, and with
the cash register being invented, they no longer can. Finally, the cash register was the most important
invention in American history, due to its major impact on businesses around the world. After the cash
register was invented, it became a huge success. Before, few business owners actually knew if they

Milton Friedman s The Free Market Theory
Milton Friedman bases his opinion on businesses and profit maximization on the foundation of free
enterprise. The free market theory believes that business managers have only one primary
responsibility, which is to maximize profit; also, the theory tells that government should not involve in
economic matters, except to prevent fraud and coercion (p. 7) Mr. Friedman argues that a corporation,
unlike a person, cannot have responsibility. I disagree with this notion. I don t think that anyone would
engage in a business contract with a corporation if they thought that a corporation was not responsible
to pay its bills. So therefore, a corporation can have legal, and moral responsibilities. Milton Friedman
uses what, to me, is the key phrase as long as it stays within the rules of the game but does not define
the phrase in terms of the legal system. My question is what about the rules of the game that are not so
much as even suggested in the law? There are other rules that companies have to follow if they want
to be successful; such as the obvious supply and demand rules in the marketplace. Also, as we have
seen with the production of new ideas and technologies, the law follows progressions in technology
and thinking. But the principle of responsibility leads the legal cases being decided. Being compliant
with the law may keep them out of court, but companies know that holding themselves accountable to
a higher standard will keep them in a good place with their customers,

Emily Dickinson was American poet born on December 10 , 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. Her

Emily Dickinson s childhood was happy, she had warm relationships with her older brother, Austin

Jewish Resistance During Ww2
JEWISH RESISTANCE: Jewish resistance is a very untold and important part of World War II. As the
war grew and the Nazi s occupied many European countries, resistance grew and intensified. Those
who could escape the ghettos and work camps joined partisan groups. In the early 1940 s,
underground resistance movements developed in about 100 ghettos. There were about 20,000 30,000
Jewish Partisans and their main goal was to break out of the ghettos, save as many Jews as they could,
and fight against the Germans. Many Jews operated as partisans, whether as part of individual Jewish
units or as members of non Jewish units (Yad Vashem, n.d.). Although there was a much greater
network of Gestapo and SS Guards, Jewish partisans mainly operated within Nazi occupied Eastern
Europe including the Ukraine, Belorussia, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania,
Hungary, and Poland as well as France, Belgium, Greece, and Italy. Eastern Europe, especially
Belorussia, the western Ukraine, and Lithuania had a wide array of forests and swamps which were
ideal for guerrilla warfare. Unlike Eastern Europe, it was impossible to form partisan groups in

So many things can be done with electronics. For example, I don t use a paper planner anymore
because I can type into a app what my assignment is, and it will remind me. I do this even when it s
proven to help you remember better when you write stuff down. A survey even said 30% of adults can

eliminated the need to remember when grandma s birthday is because facebook will notify us. This
fact uses ethos to make the reader feel sad or upset because it makes us look like we don t care. One
way Foer draws in his younger readers is by by changing his tone from informal to formal. He uses a
great amount of emotions in his essay, making to make us laugh, almost like remembering is a joke.
But then he comes back with factual evidence to make it serious again. When I get assigned a book to
read, most of the time I skim over it and forget it in the morning. Foer writes As books became easier
and easier to consult, the imperative to hold their concerns in memory became less and less relevant,
and the very notion of what it meant to be erudite began to evolve from possessing information
internally to knowing where to find information in the labyrinthine world of external memory. In this

explaining, My story is a fairy tale.. One day those towers will be built. When they are they will be the
highest in the world. Now I need to have that. This reveals the beginning of Petit s obsession with the
twin towers. Showing the audience how important making this dream a reality is to him. To Petit, each
building he strung his wire and roamed across was a form of criminal artistry. This beautiful crime
was his way of conquering the world, one building at a time, as if they were made especially for him.
The connection that Petit felt with all the buildings, that seemed to be made for him, was like a
magnetic force that he could not deny. While going to walk across the twin towers Petit says

For example, when recording genotypic ratios:
i. If your offspring genotypes include 1 GG, 2 Gg, and 1 gg, the ratio would be: 1 GG : 2 Gg : 1 gg ii.
If your offspring genotypes include 2 GG and 2 Gg, the ratio would be: 2 GG : 2 gg (or 1:1 in the

Sports Store rely on customer relationship, fulfilling their wants and needs has been their goal, such as
after a few years in the market they have segmented their business into Hobby and Sports Goods. The
first step to understand their clients is segmenting and identifying customer s attributes such as
demographics, geographic, psychographics or behavioural, using as source of information: internal

marketing textbooks. Hobby Goods Customers Profile | DEMOGRAPHICS | | Age | 15 to 50+ (users

Narrowing bonds (emotional, social, lifetime value) with customers is the most effective way to
achieve the store marketing goal and increase his market share. Social and benefits programs such as
above reaches better visibility and perception from local and national customers, strengthening the
turnover of his business.
For a better illustration, check information bellow:
According to Nielsen s 2010 State of the Nation Report, an overwhelming 70 per cent of Australians

claimed the next 12 months was an excellent or good time to buy the things they want and need.

The Planning Function of Management
Most companies have a vision, mission statement, and a set of core values. These three things are
normally made up by a group of senior managers or a leadership team. Once these three things are
decided upon, the upper management or leadership team should deliver the information to the
management below them, so the important information is delivered to all levels of employees within
the company. After the these three things have been set, most companies will post their vision, mission
statement and core values somewhere for all employees to see. Often time s new employees are given
copies of these three things in orientation or on their first day of work. Coming up with the vision,
mission statement and core values are just one way that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, this is a way of planning that requires the participation of all levels of management.
Operational planning is used mostly by lower level or front line managers. These are the routine tasks
of scheduling, human resource tasks, and daily statistics which are looked at when planning for future
staffing and projects. Although these tasks are carried out by lower level management or supervisors,
they upper management still has a say in these tasks. The upper level management or leadership team
more than likely made those tasks as a part of the employees daily routine; so again, all hands of
management play a roll in the operational planning as well. Contingency planning tends to be the one
that is discussed the least. Contingency planning is very important in most companies, as this is where
the safety and disaster planning comes into play. These plans are made by all levels of management as
well as employees who are non managers. Each department knows its own needs when it comes to its
contingency plans, it is important to have all employees involved in the planning. For example, a fire
drill plan; all the employees know where the closest exit to their workspace is, and they can all agree
to find a common meeting place outside of the building. This is not a plan that has to be done by a
specific level of management. There has to be some management oversight, but all the department
employees need to be in

The Rise Of Terrorist Groups During The Middle East
Jason Wang
Mrs. Ma
10 Acc. English
7 April 2015
The Rise of Terrorist Groups in the Middle East. The Middle East has been an area of conflict and
religious extremism for the latter half of the twentieth century and it is expected to continue to be a
region of conflict in the future. Why is it that terrorist groups constantly emerge and dominate for a
period of time before steadily declining, only to be replaced by a different, equally or even more
inhumane, splinter group? Saudi Arabian Wahhabism is a strain of fundamentalist Islam that has
invaded and displaced traditionally moderate Islam and generates much of the conflict in the Middle
East today. To combat and destroy future extremism and solve the problem permanently, the world and
its inhabitants must deracinate this menace from its roots. Aside from religious fundamentalism, a
large portion of the problem lies in the modern history of the Middle East. When the Ottoman Empire
collapsed in 1920, combined British and French politicians, scholars, archaeologists, military officers
and colonial administrators arbitrarily divided up the boundaries of the newly created nations in the
Sykes Picot agreement. In effect, they created the first reason for much of the sectarian and ethnic
conflict found in the Middle East. Regardless of intention, the British placed disparate tribes that had
warred for centuries in the same country and divided ethnicities and culturally similar groups into
different countries. Similar to how

Poverty in Victorian London being a key theme of Charles Booth s survey of life and labour in
London. Booth was profoundly concerned by these contemporary social problems. However, he
recognised the limitations of philanthropy and conditional charity in addressing the poverty which
scarred all of British society. Booth therefore devised, organised and funded one of the most
comprehensive and scientific social surveys of London life that has been undertaken. Booth was also
instrumental in the setting up of state old age pensions as a means to alleviate destition in old age,
which had been established as one of the most common causes of

Fabriano
Innovating a New Religious Experience: The Emergence of Biblical Pictorial Narratives During the
Renaissance
Spanning the 14th to 17th centuries, the Renaissance was an era of European history that saw
immense artistic and cultural innovation. Aptly named rebirth, the Renaissance was a revival of
Roman classicism and humanism. Inspired movements by the Church to humanize Christ and
encourage religious meditation led to the development of narrative artwork, pieces designed to draw in
viewers and invoke emotional participation in the depicted biblical scenes. To an extent, the pictorial
narratives served to expand the word of God to the illiterate. Nevertheless, the main significance of
the emergence of narrative images is that it demonstrates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Illustrated are the three magi presenting the baby Jesus with a procession of lavish gifts. The opulently
detailed scene expands upon the tale as presented in the gospel according to Matthew, which simply
describes the three kings elation at having found the newborn child and their gifting of gold,
frankincense, and myrrh. Fabriano embellishes the scene, portraying a massive procession of
luxurious gifts carried by men in extravagant garb, as well as horses, oxen, exotic birds, even a
hunting dog. The magi are shown in exotic and luxurious attire rather than ancient robes, emblematic
of the opulent Gothic style combined with Renaissance elegance. Viewers are transported into the
scene by Fabriano s characters, who stand in elegant contrapposto. Some even face away from the
viewer, which, in conjunction with the verisimilitude of the work, gives the feeling of being physically
present in the scene. Fabriano invokes a juxtaposition of emotions in the smaller stories he tells, from
disdain for the pair of maid servants tactlessly examining the gift from the first magus, to concern for
the traveller being accosted by thieves, to even humorous excitement at the sight of a leopard
preparing to pounce on a deer. The immense amount of detailing and smaller stories presented within
the frame encourages beholders to spend longer in examining the piece, challenging the audience to
find the hidden Easter

Olivia Chow Persuasive Speech
Olivia Chow, one of the candidates in the most recent elections for the Mayor of Toronto experienced
a tragic loss of her husband in 2011 (Diebel). Chow was married to the favourable and lovable
politician, Jack Layton, for 23 years until she lost him to cancer (Loriggio). She explains in her
autobiography, My Journey, how the death of her husband led to pneumonia and paralysis in half of
her face, due to Ramsay Hunt Syndrome (Diebel). Despite her loss and severe medical conditions, she
was able to recover and run for the Mayor of Toronto. She demonstrates the notion that tragic events
can certainly happen in an individuals life, but one must have the capacity to get back up on their feet.
This notion is an important theme in The Perks of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, they isolate themselves from the world, even though they are longing for human
interaction and love. Holden fails to recover from Allie s death because of his inability to break out of
his shell to make friends, to listen other s advice, and to change his attitude about life. In contrast,
Charlie is able to recollect himself from his past by listening to his mentor s advice, creating healthy
friendships, and having a positive outlook for his future. It is clear that the contrast between the novels
demonstrate how people can deal with similar situations in a different attitude. To conclude, it is
important to understand that the individual holds power to make the best out of unfortunate
circumstances. Being able to accept the past and move forward demonstrates maturity and

He graduated from high school at the age of 15 and immediately after he enrolled at the University of Chicago. One of his teachers from Chicago said that Watson must have been very keen . He said this because he had given him 2 A s, and I don t give very many A s. The famous biologist Paul, Weiss, who was James Watson s instructor, said Watson never took any notes in class, yet he came out top of the class at the end of the semester. James was born on April 6th, 1928, to an average class family. His father, James Dewey Watson, was a businessman who worked for a correspondence school. Watson said that his father s job was awful and he would have been better off working as a schoolteacher. Jean Watson was his mother. She was employed at the University of Chicago as a secretary. His mother also volunteered for the Democratic Party, and she held party meetings in the basement of the Watson home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Essay On Endangered Plants Biodiversity Imagine this: you step outside and feel the barren, rough, red Earth beneath your feet. There s not a single plant in sight no rustling of the leaves, no mighty towering trees to block the severe winds, and the scorching heat of the sun searing upon your face because there s no shade. And when you take a whiff of air, you feel nothing filling up the space inside your lungs, liberating your body s activities. What s wrong with this picture? It s not possible, of course. Even though plants aren t the building blocks of life, they re pretty close and without them, most of life wouldn t exist YOU wouldn t exist. Based upon the same experiments and samples taken, it was concluded that the atmospheric nitrogen pollution was caused by the burning of fossil fuels and rigorous agriculture (Ananthaswamy, 2004). According to the 2004 release of the Threatened and Endangered Species System (TESS) information, there are 599 endangered plants and 147 threatened plants in the US alone (TESS, 2004). These listings rely on a very stern legal system. Whether they can be labeled rare , threatened, or endangered , it is determined by the measure of endangerment the species sustain. An endangered type is one that is in jeopardy of extinction throughout all or a major fraction of its range. A threatened species is one that is likely to become in danger of extinction in the future (UFWS, 2004). The Aims and Principles of the 1834 Poor Law Amendment Act In the decades prior to the national reform of the Poor Law in 1834, the characterisations of the administration were of variety rather than uniformity. The social and economic changes at this time produced many problems for those that were responsible for the social welfare. Many areas throughout the country though found solutions to this problem within the legal frame work of the Elizabethan Poor Law of 1597 1601. In the initial stages the amendment act was set up to reduce the amount of poor rates that were being paid. In the first ten years of the amendment act the amount of relief being paid was reduced to a national average of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The way to stop this from happening was to reduce the fifteen thousand parishes into six hundred Poor Law unions. There was a great willingness to keep the poor in one place and so by 1843 there was one hundred and ninety seven thousand one hundred and seventy nine poor incarcerated into the workhouses. The workhouses were often described as bastilles. I do not agree with those who say that every man must look after himself, and that intervention by the state, will be fatal to his self reliance, his foresight and his thrift…. It is a mistake to suppose that thrift is caused only by fear; it springs from hope as well as fear. Where there is no hope, be sure there will be no thrift . (Winston Churchill, Liberalism and the Social Problems, 1909, p. 209). Many administrators were outraged at the idea of Central Government becoming involved in the Amendment Act because as far as they were concerned the old system was more than sufficient for the needs of the poor. The Poor Law Guardians then set about obstructing the Poor Law Amendment Act, as they thought it was an unnecessary addition to the current act. The worst of the activities to block this new act was in Huddersfield in the West Riding of Yorkshire. (As was). DNSSEC provides three distinct services: key distribution by means of KEY resource records stored in the zone files, origin verification for servers and data, and verification of the integrity of zone data. • 8. Nationalism Dbq Essay How did our country get here today? Were we always united in our decisions? At this point in time, the early 19th century, the U.S. had just bought Texas and California from Spain after the territories had gained their independence from Mexico. The U.S. believed that it was their destiny to inhabit the new territories. This is called Manifest Destiny. This caused nationalism, or the feeling of pride or loyalty to a nation. Many events brought the United States together with nationalism and separated it by sectionalism. One event that created nationalism was the Battle of New Orleans. This was the last battle of the War of 1812, even though it occurred after the Treaty of Ghent was signed. The United States won this battle against the British and had gained a new war hero, Andrew Jackson. Document 4 supports this because the Battle of New Orleans inspired the Star Spangled ... On the other side, the South really did not like the tariffs. The Europeans tended to buy their goods, and in order for that to keep on happening, the South had to pay the tariffs and buy the more expensive European goods. • 9. The Creation Story Of Adam And Eve Analysis By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return . In The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , those are the words God tells Adam and Eve when they failed to obey God s only rule, not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Throughout the story we follow their relationship with God, in the events that began with their creation and ended in their exile. Therefore, in my sole opinion based on The Creation of Adam and Eve , the story depicts Adam and Eve s relationship with God and the underlying meaning of their existence and the oedipal conflict that is portrayed. It suggests that maybe the story is a tale told in order to understand why we exist and our personal purpose as well as to recognize the effects of the authoritarian commands God expressed to Adam and Eve. The phrase existence precedes essence as told by Sartre means, we exist first and then we do things that define ourselves and live our lives in whatever way we choose. This is the case in, The Creation Story of Adam and Eve , when God created Adam from the dust of the ground and Eve from one of Adam s ribs. He brought them to life in the Garden of Eden, but it was up to them to create a purpose to exist. Therefore, Adam and Eve s actions of disobedience were perhaps a way of God testing humankind by showing them paradise (Garden of Eden) and what we were to lose if we d disobeyed him. God gave Adam a garden to take care of, animals to name, and a wife for companionship. And they both got banished from paradise for choosing to have the freedom of disobeying and as a result they have to be responsible for their actions. For instance, in the Existentialism Lecture , it says that from an existentialist point of view, We must choose what to do, where to go, and most importantly, what is meaningful to us and why. With choice comes two related concepts: freedom and responsibility . Eve s wrongful actions are the cause of why women to this day have had to fight harder than men to achieve their place in society. As for Adam, his actions brought men to work for a living, which nothing in life is easy, and you have to strive for it, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Merger And Acquisition Of A Merger A merger takes place when two companies joint together to form a single company. A merger is alike to a takeover or acquisition, except that in the case of a merger remaining stakeholders of both companies involved retain a shared interest in the new company. By contrast, in an acquisition one company purchases a bulk of a second company s stock, creating an uneven balance of ownership in the new combined company. Acquisition refers to buying out another company and taking it into the fold of the acquiring company. This is done by paying the acquired company, the value of its capital and depending upon the situations, a premium over the capital amount. Acquisitions and mergers both involve one or multiple companies purchasing all or part of another company. The main difference between a merger and an acquisition is how they are financed. By acquiring a small company with a good technology, a big company can develop a competitive advantage for example; recently Facebook acquired Instagram and Whatsapp. This means to stay competitive; company needs to remain on top of technological development and buyer will need to pay an amount if they want to acquire the company and for seller, that premium represents their company s future growth. The body endures too much with bumps and bruises, stretching and soreness, and pops and cracks but that s only the physical aspect of what a dancer has to go through. Tim Elam informed us about dinosaurs being similar worldwide, with evidence of fossils, because the land was one at that time. • 19. Effects Of A Solar Eclipse What is a solar eclipse? What effect might a solar eclipse have on one? A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth. This makes the sun align behind the moon as it blocks the sun s beautiful and gleaming rays. When the sun is behind the moon, it seems as if it is as dark as night and makes the sun look like a ring of fire high in the sky. During a solar eclipse, many things can happen that one would be astonished by observing such as, the actual object, changes in the atmosphere, animals and people s behavior, and emotional and sensual feelings. The object that appeared in the sky had everyone s attention and concentration, not only that day, but weeks before. Everyone had been talking about the upcoming solar eclipse. Teachers planned lessons, and posters lined the walls to inform students of expectations and safety measures. A solar eclipse, an event appealing to the eye, is an unforgettable phenomenon that can leave someone with the experience of a lifetime. On the day of the eclipse, the view of the sun was oddly bright and dim. The sky was as bright as a sun rise early in a summer s morning. It was so bright I was tempted, yet scared to look at it. The whole Middleton High School separated to go outside and watch the eclipse in different areas. The location where we watched the eclipse only allowed us to see the moon partially blocking the sun. We all saw the sun slowly lose its rays as the moon raced to appear in front. Although the total ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. The Land Registration Act 1925 The statement above will be thoroughly considered and discussed .To commence with it needs to be established what a register is. The Land Registration Act 1925 first presented the structure of registered land, but later it was cancelled out by Land Registration Act 2002 due to reviews and room for reforms. There are three main sections: property register, proprietorship register and charges register. Firstly Property register, this describes the property (the nature), the address and plans which are in correspondence with the actual boundaries of the specific properties and also third party rights and rights which benefit the property. Furthermore there is Proprietorship register, this consists of the class of title and any entries which affect the owner s right of disposal such as restrictions which could hinder how the property is dealt with. Restrictions will also be included in the Proprietorship Register found under S40 Land Registration Act 2002 , this results in the restriction limiting how the registered proprietorship can handle the land. It requires that a certain procedure is followed when disposing of the land .Furthermore this coincides with overreaching, this is where the purchaser of trust land can take the land free from the beneficial interest under that trust Lastly Charges register, which contains charges, in addition to other charges that have impact on the land, in correspondence with the land any covenants and third party rights such as ... Is Paul Appealing Or Appalling Book Summary Paul was a Jew, born in Tarsus, but brought up in Jerusalem at the feet of Gamaliel, educated strictly according to our ancestral law...at least that is how Luke puts it in Acts of the Apostles, where he documented the actions of the followers of Jesus. This book of the New Testament serves as a summarized history of the first Christians. Regardless of Paul s former life as a Jew, so successful at spreading Christianity that the idea that he is a co founder of Christianity, second only to Jesus, is an extremely popular one. Their account of Paul s controversial stance on a variety of major issues like gender roles and slavery helps to understand the historical significance of Paul s evangelism. Jews were easier to reach than Gentiles, because of their sacred education, therefore the issue of circumcision was definitely an issue among the first converts to Christianity. The question on everyone s mind was, Do you have to be a Jew to be a Christian? Judeans were taught that salvation would only come to those circumcised according to the custom. I am certain that I am a thinking being; but do I not therefore likewise know what is required to make me certain of something? (p113 Methods Meditations). He goes on to say that God could not possibly be deceitful, it would not be his divine nature. This is when things start to come together for Rene. After acknowledging that a divine God could not possibly be evil Rene goes even further to say that he (God) must exist. This equation sounds strange but to this point Rene never really considered if God even existed or if he was simply a part of his imagination. Rene s motto, De omnibus dubitandumest (everything is to be doubted), lead him back to basic proofs. His theory of analytical geometry was the first major contribution to the field of science. This theory helped to offset some of his doubts and in many ways gave him the realization that some qualities in life can be proven. • 26. Theme Of Evil In The Kite Runner The majority of literature at its core, can display a power struggle between the forces of good and evil. These overarching ideas represent the human condition and how a certain state of being brings out these concepts from deep within the hearts of men. This is exemplified in Khaled Hosseini s The Kite Runner, in which evil permeates characters in the form of greed, abuse of power and deceit. The themes of evil act as an affliction on Amir s mind in his treatment of Hassan, within Baba s sins toward his family and religion and Assef, who s psychological insanity drove him toward cruel exploits of others. Amir s character represents a development of the human spirit. He is inherently good in his thoughts and actions early on in the story, but the reader can see him begin to evolve. The actions of others, more specifically his father and Hassan cause him to become plagued with aforementioned themes of evil. He sees himself largely influenced by greed and an ability to abuse his power over Hassan. The evil metamorphoses Amir into a character driven by self interest at the deprivation of others. Amir feels challenged for his father s love by Hassan and uses his social status and educated ability to impose himself over Hassan when they read together. This abuse of power shows the corruption within Amir that develops into greed as Baba continues to distance himself from Amir. This selfishness climaxes when Hassan is defiled by Assef and Amir says Nothing was free in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Auxin Is Better Than Natural Auxin Analysis Plant hormones are chemical signals released by a tissue and delivered to a receptor tissue. Auxin is the hormone most commonly found in plants. Auxin regulates and aids in the development of plants (Kazan 2013). The acid growth hypothesis states that an acidic ph will enhance the effects of auxin in seed development and plant growth. Radish seeds were planted in acidic soil and administered natural and synthetic auxin in order to test for the effect of synthetic auxin in an acidic soil on plant growth. The reason for this experiment is to test whether or not synthetic (man made) auxin works better than natural auxin in growth development. It was found that the natural kind of auxin works better in an acidic environment than synthetic auxin. Introduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The seed will remain dormant until it comes in contact with water which causes gibberellins (a type of plant hormone) to be released which will trigger the layer covering the embryo to produce enzymes needed to break down the endosperm and release the nutrients that are stored there. Those nutrients will be used by the embryo for growth. Hormones are chemical substances that help and regulate plant growth and aid in seed germination (Gutzler and Brewer 2013). There are seven different types of plant hormones and they all trigger specific reactions. One of the first hormones discovered in plants was Auxin. Power is not necessarily evil by its lonesome. However, when power is coupled with the intentions of men, it becomes evil. The connection between the terms is that liberty is a victim of power for the aggressiveness of power was the fact that its natural prey, its necessary victim, was liberty, or law, or right (Bailyn 57). Therefore, the two could not be intermingled. If one longed for liberty, he or she could not stand for power simultaneously for the mere existence of power negates liberty. One person can convince many others that their way is the right way and the only way. Another important point is that one person can change the world. It is really important to the film because Schindler was just one man and he alone, with some help from Stern, saved so many lives. The free market theory believes that business managers have only one primary responsibility, which is to maximize profit; also, the theory tells that government should not involve in economic matters, except to prevent fraud and coercion (p. 7) Mr. Friedman argues that a corporation, unlike a person, cannot have responsibility. I disagree with this notion. I don t think that anyone would engage in a business contract with a corporation if they thought that a corporation was not responsible to pay its bills. So therefore, a corporation can have legal, and moral responsibilities. Milton Friedman uses what, to me, is the key phrase as long as it stays within the rules of the game but does not define the phrase in terms of the legal system. My question is what about the rules of the game that are not so much as even suggested in the law? There are other rules that companies have to follow if they want to be successful; such as the obvious supply and demand rules in the marketplace. Also, as we have seen with the production of new ideas and technologies, the law follows progressions in technology and thinking. But the principle of responsibility leads the legal cases being decided. As the war grew and the Nazi s occupied many European countries, resistance grew and intensified. Those who could escape the ghettos and work camps joined partisan groups. In the early 1940 s, underground resistance movements developed in about 100 ghettos. Many Jews operated as partisans, whether as part of individual Jewish units or as members of non Jewish units (Yad Vashem, n.d.). Although there was a much greater network of Gestapo and SS Guards, Jewish partisans mainly operated within Nazi occupied Eastern Europe including the Ukraine, Belorussia, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Poland as well as France, Belgium, Greece, and Italy. For example, I don t use a paper planner anymore because I can type into a app what my assignment is, and it will remind me. I do this even when it s proven to help you remember better when you write stuff down. A survey even said 30% of adults can t remember the birthdays of more than 3 immediate family members. (pg160.) Our gadgets have eliminated the need to remember when grandma s birthday is because facebook will notify us. This fact uses ethos to make the reader feel sad or upset because it makes us look like we don t care. One way Foer draws in his younger readers is by by changing his tone from informal to formal. He uses a great amount of emotions in his essay, making to make us laugh, almost like remembering is a joke. But then he comes back with factual evidence to make it serious again. When I get assigned a book to read, most of the time I skim over it and forget it in the morning. Foer writes As books became easier and easier to consult, the imperative to hold their concerns in memory became less and less relevant, and the very notion of what it meant to be erudite began to evolve from possessing information internally to knowing where to find information in the labyrinthine world of external memory. In this section he is building his argument by giving us a visual. Foer is implying that when it s easy to read we just forget it because it wasn t a challenge; he is also implying that we won t ... These three things are normally made up by a group of senior managers or a leadership team. Once these three things are decided upon, the upper management or leadership team should deliver the information to the management below them, so the important information is delivered to all levels of employees within the company. After the these three things have been set, most companies will post their vision, mission statement and core values somewhere for all employees to see. Often time s new employees are given copies of these three things in orientation or on their first day of work. Coming up with the vision, mission statement and core values are just one way that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Again, this is a way of planning that requires the participation of all levels of management. Operational planning is used mostly by lower level or front line managers. These are the routine tasks of scheduling, human resource tasks, and daily statistics which are looked at when planning for future staffing and projects. Although these tasks are carried out by lower level management or supervisors, they upper management still has a say in these tasks. The upper level management or leadership team more than likely made those tasks as a part of the employees daily routine; so again, all hands of management play a roll in the operational planning as well. Contingency planning tends to be the one that is discussed the least. Contingency planning is very important in most companies, as this is where the safety and disaster planning comes into play. These plans are made by all levels of management as well as employees who are non managers. Each department knows its own needs when it comes to its contingency plans, it is important to have all employees involved in the planning. For example, a fire drill plan; all the employees know where the closest exit to their workspace is, and they can all agree to find a common meeting place outside of the building. This is not a plan that has to be done by a specific level of management. There has to be some management oversight, but all the department employees need to be in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Rise Of Terrorist Groups During The Middle East Jason Wang Mrs. Ma 10 Acc. English 7 April 2015 The Rise of Terrorist Groups in the Middle East. The Middle East has been an area of conflict and religious extremism for the latter half of the twentieth century and it is expected to continue to be a region of conflict in the future. Why is it that terrorist groups constantly emerge and dominate for a period of time before steadily declining, only to be replaced by a different, equally or even more inhumane, splinter group? Saudi Arabian Wahhabism is a strain of fundamentalist Islam that has invaded and displaced traditionally moderate Islam and generates much of the conflict in the Middle East today. To combat and destroy future extremism and solve the problem permanently, the world and its inhabitants must deracinate this menace from its roots. Aside from religious fundamentalism, a large portion of the problem lies in the modern history of the Middle East. When the Ottoman Empire collapsed in 1920, combined British and French politicians, scholars, archaeologists, military officers and colonial administrators arbitrarily divided up the boundaries of the newly created nations in the Sykes Picot agreement. In effect, they created the first reason for much of the sectarian and ethnic conflict found in the Middle East. Regardless of intention, the British placed disparate tribes that had warred for centuries in the same country and divided ethnicities and culturally similar groups into different countries. Fabriano Innovating a New Religious Experience: The Emergence of Biblical Pictorial Narratives During the Renaissance Spanning the 14th to 17th centuries, the Renaissance was an era of European history that saw immense artistic and cultural innovation. Aptly named rebirth, the Renaissance was a revival of Roman classicism and humanism. Inspired movements by the Church to humanize Christ and encourage religious meditation led to the development of narrative artwork, pieces designed to draw in viewers and invoke emotional participation in the depicted biblical scenes. To an extent, the pictorial narratives served to expand the word of God to the illiterate. Nevertheless, the main significance of the emergence of narrative images is that it demonstrates ... The opulently detailed scene expands upon the tale as presented in the gospel according to Matthew, which simply describes the three kings elation at having found the newborn child and their gifting of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Fabriano embellishes the scene, portraying a massive procession of luxurious gifts carried by men in extravagant garb, as well as horses, oxen, exotic birds, even a hunting dog. The magi are shown in exotic and luxurious attire rather than ancient robes, emblematic of the opulent Gothic style combined with Renaissance elegance. Viewers are transported into the scene by Fabriano s characters, who stand in elegant contrapposto. Some even face away from the viewer, which, in conjunction with the verisimilitude of the work, gives the feeling of being physically present in the scene. Fabriano invokes a juxtaposition of emotions in the smaller stories he tells, from disdain for the pair of maid servants tactlessly examining the gift from the first magus, to concern for the traveller being accosted by thieves, to even humorous excitement at the sight of a leopard preparing to pounce on a deer. The immense amount of detailing and smaller stories presented within the frame encourages beholders to spend longer in examining the piece, challenging the audience to find the hidden Easter ...
