The Importance Of The Second Amendment To The United...
Do you know what function the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution actually serves?
No, it is not so that people can go hunting or protect themselves against personal assault. Neither is it a
stupid, brainless provision that some lamebrain slipped into the Constitution.
Like a shield of freedom, it is one of the primary reasons that the United States Constitution still
stands.
As one who is not a gun owner, I treasure the Second Amendment. It is one of our best safeguards
against tyranny, not from foreign governments, but from our own.
This amendment reads, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the
right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
The militia written of here is a volunteer army that basically provides its own weapons. That is, these
are soldiers who are already armed, who already have their own guns.
In The Federalist Papers, the authors wrote of concerns that a standing army could lead to tyranny
(loss of freedom), so the Second Amendment was conceived in such a way that the U.S. could have an
army at need, and would not have to have a large standing army. This was so that the national
government would not threaten our freedom. (Trust me; it s in there.)
There are historical examples of governments wanting to tighten their controls over the people, so
they went out and disarmed the people (like the sword hunt in Japan), or made it illegal for them to
own weapons (there are

What would you do as Distinguished Young Women of Mississippi?
I would work with various organizations to find new methods to challenge young women to think
beyond their preexisting boundaries.
The Distinguished Young Women program was vital in shaping me. As I prepared for the competition,
I encountered many who had experienced through their own distinguished journey. For six months,
they supported me in every way possible despite having a gazillion of other obligations. Mock
interviews, dress fittings, coffee dates, workout routines, you name it. Through their selflessness, I

to touch the life of another for the better.

What Is The Theme Of Anthropocentrism
Rejection of Anthropocentrism in Select Poems of Robinson Jeffers
Ms. D. Nivethitha, II M.A. English Literature, Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore
The concept of Anthropocentrism is deep rooted in the very nature of human beings and can be seen
even in the primitive ages when the humans are believed to have lived in unison with nature. Even in
that period their harmonious relationship with the non human natural world existed as a sort of
necessity for their survival and not out of love for nature. The idea of anthropocentrism in which man
occupies the central position and is given the primary importance when compared to all the other
living and non living organisms in nature, gives him a right to tame and subdue nature. William ...

Jeffers points out the fragile nature of human beings and though A drop of narrow (20) inside their

and life again. Man is just a part of nature and the loss of such a small part will not affect

Network Security Practices Essay
Today s corporate infrastructure is not the same as it was 10 years ago. In the past you were able to
control the amount of attacks on a network because of the reasonable number, which is not the case
today. At any given time an organizations network will be attacked or try to be attacked several
hundred times in one day. For larger more well known organizations this number could grow
significantly. To ensure your organization is not one of the ones on the 10 oclock news you have to
ensure you have proper security practices in place to secure your network.
Most people in the security field agree that good security policies are necessary to keep intruders out
and keep the users along with the information on their network safe. The best way ... Show more

Having this type of accountability will help you in having a better understanding and provide for a
good foundation for enforcing security across the organization. This area should also cover the
different types of data each person handles on a daily basis. It should clearly outline the different
categories that data will fall into whether it be internal, external, general use or confidential. By doing
so you now allow the employees to have a better understanding of what data they can manipulate and
data that has to stay the same.
2. Remote Access Policies users are always going to want to access the office network from a remote
site. We have to ensure that there are policies in place that allow them to do so but in a safe manner. If
they are going to remotely access the network it has to be done in accordance with the security
policies of the organization and not on their terms. This should include using a laptop or remote
connection software that has been pre approved by the organizations security team, keeping IP s in a
safe place, making sure that if they are accessing the network from a laptop to ensure that hard drive is
encrypted. This will prevent anyone from gaining access the sensitive information if it is ever lost or
stolen. Lastly not everyone should be granted remote access to the network; this privilege should only
be given to people who have a legitimate need for it.

William Faulkner s `` A Rose For Emily ``
While authors like Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King are known for their creepy writings, William
Faulkner has achieved a level of disturbing that is hardly reached in short stories. A Rose for Emily is
a story that shows how the insanity of one woman is able to shock an entire town, even in death.
When first reading A Rose for Emily, anyone can see how twisted Emily Grierson is. Not only for the
fact that she was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, but because this was not the first time that she
had kept a dead body in her house. While her family does have a history of mental instability, stating
that, remembering old lady Wyatt, her great aunt, had gone completely crazy at last (section II), she is
able to out do the impossible and create an aura of mystery that surrounds her both during life and
death. After reading this story, it makes the audience question not only the reasoning that Emily has
behind not only killing Homer, but keeping his body trapped in her house up until she met death as
well. It also brings to attention how much the townsfolk actually influenced the progression of
insanity that caused Emily and those around her, so much turmoil. For example, if the townsfolk had
not used Emily as a source of entertainment and gossip, would she have stayed the recluse? While, the
townsfolk are not to blame, it makes readers wonder: what if? Another question that I had while
reading this story is, who was the narrator? The narrator, whoever they are, is able to

Essay On Life Insurance
INSURANCE BUSINESS PRE NATIONALISATION
2.1.1 The Concept of Insurance The entire modern world process has to face numerous risks and
uncertainties. Thus in business, as in private life, there are dangers and risks of every kind. The
concept of risk may be explained as the possibility of unfavourable results following from any
occurrence. In a dynamic and free economy and life such risks are inevitable. The risk may mean that
there is a possibility of loss or damage. It may or may not happen. When an event is stated to be
possible, it has a possibility between zero and one, it is neither impossible not definite. The degree of
risk may or may not be measurable. To the ordinary man in the street „risk‟ means exposure to danger.
But at the same time in insurance practice risk is also used for peril or loss producing events. For
example, it is said that insurance covers the risks of fire, explosion, cyclone, flood etc. Here the risks
refer to the subject matter of insurance. Any risk contingent upon these may be insured against a
premium commensurate with the risk involved. Thus a collective bearing of risk is insurance.
Insurance, whether life or non life, provides people with reasonable degree of security and assurance
that they will be protected in the event of a calamity or failure of any sort.
According to Life Insurance Corporation of India, risk may be defined as, Risk is a condition where
there is a possibility of an adverse deviation from a desired outcome

Persuasive Essay On Homeless
47,725 or about 8% of the homeless population are veterans and 50% of the homeless people are over
50 years old in the U.S. Homelessness is an unsatisfactory issue that we as humans do not see the
importance of the help they need. In our community, we take things for granted and not worry about
the importance of helping others. The unfortunate people living in the streets have passed through
difficult times and appreciate small or big things. Homeless is a person without a home, and therefore
typically living on the streets. Some homeless people have become abusive of drugs, alcohol, and
other different type of drugs. Homelessness is a major problem in our society. Homelessness
contaminates our city, makes our city look dirty, and it is priority to fix this problem. To begin,
homelessness contaminates our city and spreads diseases like Hepatitis A, HIV/AIDS of sexually
transmitted infections, virus and Tuberculosis. For example, when the unhoused go to the public
bathroom, sometimes they do not clean themselves or wash their hands. During, the homeless pass it
on to their neighbors or other living creatures and spread or contaminate with different types of
diseases. Homeless contaminate our city by littering on the ground with plastic, foil, and other types of
things that contaminate. Based on what I have seen, one example is when I go down to the Santa Ana
Public Library my mom, sister, and I see that there are various amounts of trash on the ground. To
include, when my family and I pass through the Angels Stadium in Anaheim I see that there are
numerous homeless people that are contaminating our environment with plenty of diseases. To add, in
the short story ¨What do Fish Have to do With Anything¨ by Avi, it states that ¨his matted, streaky gray
hair hung like a ragged curtain over his dirty face when describing the homeless man. As a matter of
fact, the author states, his shoes were torn; he had rough hands that lay upon his knees; and his hand
was palm up. No one seemed to pay him any attention and he begs for money. Because he is filthy,
most likely he is carrying bacteria that may cause diseases. In my community, near the riverbed you
can tell that the homeless leave their feces

Ballet Male Gaze
Under the male gaze, the female body will always be sexualized no matter what choreography she is
executing, how she is dressed or what she says. This occurs because the male gaze is driven by sexual
anxiety (Schultz, 368). This means that a male feels the need to look at a woman as an object in order
to make her difference and the mystery that surrounds her seems rational in his mind. I pose the
following question, Why does this matter to my argument and to ballet? The male gaze has been
instituted within the audience and within society that art must be viewed in a certain way. The male
gaze has told viewers to believe that the ballerina is being manipulated by the male. The male gaze has
influenced viewers to believe that ballerinas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another concept of the pointe shoe that interests me is the comparison of height of the ballerina when
on pointe, to the male dancer. This hierarchal structure that is set up is often overlooked by the
audience because of the technical steps executed by both the male and female dancers.
Finally, I will look at the man s comfort in flat ballet shoes in comparison to the pointe shoe and pose
the question is it a privilege to wear flat shoes or is it a state of fear, fear of pain associated with pointe
shoes?
As a dancer myself, pointe work is very important to me and I know from firsthand experience how
much physical strength and technical prowess must be attained in order to master the art form. I have
been dancing on pointe for nine years and know the constant practice and difficulties one must go

All kinds of goods and services are available in an underground economy. The most commonly traded
goods and services are goods and services that are available in the official market, but at a lower cost
in the black market; or goods and services that has a limited supply in the official market, but are sold
at an elevated price in the Black market. Despite the trade being illegal, as long as both the seller and
buyer comes to an agreement on the price, they trade privately with cash to avoid being detected.
Although many sellers get away with this, at the end of the day underground economy is a continued
cycle of affecting the country and its citizens, including sellers and buyers in the black market, mostly
its tax revenues will be affected, then the GDP, and finally its citizens. All Black market trades are
done in the shadows, but if the root causes of the continued growth in the underground economy are
known, things could be done to eliminate the number of black market trades as much as possible.
Underground economy is disruptive to the society, to avoid these negative effects; it should be
eliminated as much as possible.
The unreported economy causes tax evasion and that affects everybody in Canada. There are various
negative effects regarding the black market; doubtful the most significant one is the effect it has on tax
revenues the unreported economy. Tax revenue is the sum of all different kinds of taxes collected

Chronic Wasting Disease Analysis
Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a fatal neurodegenerative transmissible spongiform
encephalopathy (TSE ) found in some white tailed deer. CWD is associated with diseases such as Mad
Cow disease, Scrapie, and Creutzfeldt Jakob disease. With well supported evidence it is hypothesized
that CWD originated from Scrapie. The causation of CWD is an abnormal form of PrPcwd prion. This
prion is a naturally occurring protein found in mammals. Prions lack genome and are highly resistant
to degradation. Chronic Wasting Disease can be transmitted by direct contact between the animals
and/or on resources such as salt licks. With a team, Chris Janelle, studied white tail deer in Wisconsin.
Over a 9,000 square mile sample area, more than 185,000 deer were sampled by the Wisconsin DNR
and more than 2,500 of those deer were CWD positive. The team collected data from 16,773 tested

Another interesting finding was that CWD affects the lymph nodes first, the brain second, and shows
clinical signs (drooling and weight loss) third. All those affected places no matter what lead to death.
Based on their study there were four assumptions: deterministic transitions (between states), spatial
homogeneity (210 sq. miles), homogenous transmission and mixing (age, sex, infection), and no
migration. It is believed that CWD has been around since the late 60s early 70s, and derived from
scrapie or may be human induced. Janelle stated, Given estimated parameters from data model is
sensitive to adult survival influenced by magnitude of transmission coefficients and harvest levels. It
was noted that in Wisconsin the DNR aren t finding ways to manage CWD, they are letting it run its
course. Also, there were no policy changes among hunting the

Too Much Stress in Teens Lives
It is no question that adults have large amounts of stress as a result of jobs, money, family issues and
the economy. What is often overlooked is how much stress and anxiety teens experience. It is common
knowledge that teens worry about school, grades, and sports; but this does not even begin to scratch
the surface of the amount of stress teens go through. Teens today feel pressure from the whole of
society to conform and to be popular or in style. Teens are also expected to plan for, and have their
future mapped out; whether that involves pursuing a career or starting a family, or even both. All of
these stresses can lead to a number of serious physical and mental issues including low self esteem,
self harm, and even thoughts of suicide. The worst part about teen stress is that teens do not know how
to handle it. They cannot cope with their changing responsibilities and this leads to role conflict and
their inability to react to situations properly. The best thing a teen can do is find a way to control,
regulate, and reduce the stress in their lives. In comparison, teens today experience higher levels of
stress from academics and an abundance of extra curricular activities which is only made worse by
teen s ineptitude to cope with these expectations. Adults do experience high levels of stress, that is
undeniable. They have to go to work every day, which can be a stressful environment, then they come
home and face a whole new plethora of stress inducing aspects. The work

Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird and Truman Capote s A...
Harper Lee and Truman Capote, two of the greatest 20th century authors, were once prodigious best
friends. And best friends share everything; their thoughts, their dreams, but most importantly, their
ideas. So could it be possible that Capote, a prolific writer, could have played a role in writing Lee s
esteemed novel, To Kill a Mockingbird? Doubtful. Through comparisons of Lee s only work to Capote
s A Christmas Memory it can be seen that despite similarities, these friends works differ too greatly in
the way they set the tone, emphasize their themes, and utilize imagery for them to have worked
together on her novel.
The first area, where Capote and Lee vary, is their use of style to create tone. Due to two extremely

/ Atticus? said Jem. / Yes? / Nothin (p.97). This is the scene where the children learn their father,
whom they believe to have no physical skills, is the best shot in town after shooting a rabid dog. There
is no direct interpretation from the narrator leaving readers with only the characters dialogue to
ponder. The effect is a speechless tone. While one author interacts with the text as the author, setting
up each scene and action, the other only interacts as a character and this can be directly attributed to
which tense they write. So despite similar overlying tones and point of views, Capote and Lee diverge
immediately in style.
As most authors do, both Lee and Capote wound similar themes and subthemes throughout their
pieces, yet use completely different techniques to isolate these themes. In To Kill a Mockingbird, the
theme is stated multiple times, interpreted by every character, and then confirmed by the narrator.
Atticus tells Scout You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of

right as she views the neighborhood in a perspective she was too afraid to approach before. In
between, the idea of prejudging a person is toiled with in every struggle and outburst. The theme, first
introduced in a simple conflict, is reemphasized at the very end, affirming the importance of never

Biography of Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent Van Gogh was a nineteenth century artist, famous for his post Impressionist paintings. Though
he did not start painting until his late twenties, he produced more than two thousand and one hundred
pieces of artwork, ranging from oil paintings and watercolors to drawings, sketchings, and prints.
Though he lived over one hundred years ago, his art is still altering the way mankind views
individuality, persona, beauty, and style in art. Today he is generally considered on of the greatest
painters in European art history.
He was born in March 30, 1853 to Theodorus Van Gogh and Anna Cornelia Carentus in Groot
Zundert, Netherlands, he was also the eldest child of six. His father was an austere country minister,
and his mother was an artist whose love of drawing, watercolors, and nature transferred to her son. At

job at his Uncle s art dealership, Groupil Cie., a firm of art dealers in The Hague.
In June of 1873, Vincent Van Gogh was transferred to the Groupil Gallery in London. During his spare

he fell in love with his landlord s daughter, Eugenie Loyer. She rejected his marriage proposal,

The Negative Impact of Genetic Testing Essay
Although genetic testing can benefit society in numerous ways, such as the diagnosis of vulnerabilities
to inherited diseases and ancestry verification, it also has the precarious capability to become a tool in
selecting a more favorable genetic makeup of an individuals and ultimately cloning humans. Genetic
testing will depreciate our quality of life and may result in discrimination, invasion of privacy, and

In 1993 a pamphlet by National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute was released heralding Gene

Only about one percent of her T cells incorporated the virus into their DNA.
In another case, an 18 year old Arizona man with a rare metabolic disease participated in a
controversial experiment which marked the first death attributed to gene therapy. Jesse Gelsinger, a
high school graduate who episodically suffered from a serious genetic disorder that often leads to
coma and death in childhood, died Sept. 17, 1999 after undergoing an experimental therapy
administered at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Thousands of U.S. patients have been
treated with various kinds of gene therapy, an experimental technique in which doctors use live
viruses and other means to transport potentially therapeutic genes into the body just as Gelsinger was.
Gelsinger suffered from Ornithine Transcarbamylase (OTC) deficiency, a genetic disorder that affects
mostly boys. The disease blocks the body s ability to break down ammonia, a normal byproduct of
metabolism, and often causes death soon after birth. As a result the FDA initiated proceeding that
could have prevented the University of Pennsylvania gene therapy researcher, James Wilson, from
testing experimental drugs or products on human subjects in this country. He repeatedly or
deliberately violated regulations governing the proper conduct of clinical studies.

The Importance Of A Career
There are many decisions an individual has to make in life, and choosing a career is one of the most
important decisions he or she can make. Many people struggle with choosing one because of various
factors that must be considered before embarking on a career path. Knowledge of self is important
because, in order to successfully choose a correct path in life, it is important for the person to know
themselves and align their personalities and abilities to what they choose to do. Individuals must set
goals for themselves in terms of what they want out of their education and career so that they can
make informed decisions pertaining to their lives. Plans must be carefully made if people want a
successful career that they feel fulfilled with. My client, Randy, has been through a process of learning
about himself, has goals that have been, and will be, fulfilled, and has set clear plans on what he wants
out of his career. Randy is a successful athletic trainer because he has taken the time to plan his life
out and find a job that best matches his personality and goals.
Self Knowledge Goal A keen understanding of self is important in any important decision, as someone
must know themselves to understand what they want out of life. Self knowledge means understanding
self, including what the person is interested in, values, likes and dislikes, and where one s priorities
lie. In the interview, Randy seemed to go through a process in which he found out about himself

Argumentative Essay On Roswell
Nearly half of our dear earthlings believe that extraterrestrial creatures and UFOs are real, but we still
do not have a single piece of solid evidence that proves, aliens and flying saucers are in fact real. For
the past few years people have been reporting alien sightings, but none of them have been fully
proven. Scientists and other officials have proven them to be wrong again and again with government
explanations. Aliens are extraterrestrial creatures that do not exist. In the cases of Roswell, area 51,
and alien abduction, actual facts have proven that they were indeed misunderstandings by the public
that caused people to think that there were alien and UFO sightings.
Roswell is perhaps one of the most famous alien reportings that has sparked the interest of many
humans. The so claimed UFO pieces of debris that were found near Roswell, New Mexico were
actually the remains of a military balloon. History, an informational website reveals that, Project
Mogul used sturdy, high altitude balloons to carry low frequency sound sensors into the tropopause, a
faraway part of the Earth s atmosphere that acts as a sound channel. At the time, the U.S. military was

Many of the extraterrestrial mysteries are actually already proven or take some time to figure out. The
Merriam Webster dictionary describes UFOs as, An unidentified flying object. The fact that people
call flying saucers UFOs admit that they do not even know what was seen. Since UFOs are
unidentified, people cannot automatically assume that they are flying saucers. Many of these cases
were just mission aircrafts and military or government testings that were hidden from us to keep the
missions undercover. Also, photo evidence can be fabricated with photoshop and most of the photos

Essay On The Night
Back before the women even took to the sky, there is a dark room. Windows line the wall opposite
large double doors. A desk sits a few feet in from the windows with the chair positioned so whoever
sits there is facing the door. The floor is made of a short, smooth carpet and the walls are white. There
are very few decorative pieces and with the only light coming from the night sky the room feels fairly
boring and confining.
Just then, one of the handles on the double doors begins to move, breaking the cold silence inside the
room. Immediately the room is filled with the voice of a woman on her phone as two guards hold the
doors open.
No...I understand the situation you ve been put in but you also have to take mine into account... the

Even breathing creates great personal scrutiny. The guards begin looking to one another nervously
before finally looking over to the president herself.
You probably want to call them off.
The president takes a deep breath in through her nose and then exhales out of her mouth. Leave us.
Without question, the guards turn around and leave the room, shutting the door behind them.
Good, I didn t want this to get violent.
Why are you here?
Alright...straight to the point then. Why were you at my penthouse?
What are you talking about? The president folds her arms and stares sternly at Xasalamel.
Yesterday your personal special operative troops landed a helicopter on my building armed to assault
my penthouse. Xasalamel walks around the president s desk, running two fingers across the top as he
goes.
I never sent any troops. The president stands firm.
You know...I personally thought it was very clever of you. Wait for me to mess up and then call in a
request from me to try and make it up to you that would take me away for a long period of time
allowing you to conduct a surprise raid to either kill or recapture this new, and highly influential,
being... Xasalamel continues to walk closer to the president.
I don t know what you mean. I never sent troops.
But I ve got to ask, which was it? Was it to kill Selison, or capture him again?
Neither because I never sent troops, the president defends, enunciating the last

One of the bigger sacrifices when going on a diet is dessert. While it is nice to have a sweet treat after
a long day, many desserts are loaded with calories and low on nutrition. However, you can treat
yourself to a delicious snack at the end of the day without the guilt of taking in extra calories, fat and
sugar. If you re on a diet and exercise program that is more oriented towards building muscle, these
dessert options will be perfect to help sate your sweet tooth.

Man And Evil In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness
Although the author Joseph Conrad never met the German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz,
who died more than a century before Conrad s birth, their distinct philosophies still have numerous
points of intersection, suggesting some fundamental truths within the structure of the human reality.
Through the novella, Heart of Darkness, Conrad details his perspectives on the faults of man and
reality as a whole, with views often coinciding with many of Leibniz s own, as found in his numerous
philosophical works. Consequently, the two perspectives combine together, like a cyclopean image, to
enhance and deepen each of the two men s philosophies on humanity.
Conrad and Leibniz both note that man has an underlying vulnerability to evil. Among Leibniz s many
conceptual principles is that of perfection vs imperfection, as he claims that no being is entirely flawed
or completely ideal (Burnham, n.d.). Rather, all men possess varying magnitudes of perfection, except
God, however, whom Leibniz believes to be the embodiment of infinite perfection (Burnham, n.d.).
Continuing, Leibniz explains that man s limited perfection causes a lack of good, in contrast to just an
unequivocal inherent evil, that consequently allows man the ability to create evil, arguing that evil and
sin are only negations of positive reality, a principle that corresponds heavily with Leibniz s belief in
theodicy, which serves as an attempt to explain and reconcile evil in the world with its creator, a

Rabbit-Proof Fence
Rabbit Proof Fence is the name of the film directed by Philip Noyce. This movie is about three girls,
Molly, Daisy and Gracie, who are taken away from their families to a camp in Moore River where
they bring up the Aboriginal kids as white kids. The girls then go on a nine week journey back home
and this movie showcases the journey and the obstacles the girls had to face before coming back
home. A particular scene from this movie, Stolen , is about the three girls enjoying their day when a
white man comes and takes them away to the campgrounds away from their families. There are many
techniques used in the scene Stolen . One being close up. In this scene a man is shown ringing the

This technique helps us understand the emotions Constable Riggs is feeling. With this technique, we
can see that he is waiting for the right time to make his move. This shows us that he is determined
about what he is going to do and is feeling confident about his plan as we can see his eyes fixed on the
girls. The director wanted to show us that Constable Riggs is a cunning person since before he made
his move he was quite close with the Aboriginal people and they trusted him and respected him.
However, with this technique, the director wanted the viewers to see the other side of Constable Riggs
with the confidence and determined shown from his facial expressions. The director also wanted to
show us that nothing will be able to stop him from capturing the girls. He also wanted to show us that
Aboriginals respect the white and white people are more powerful from them as we saw Constable
Riggs showing the documents that the mothers of the girls have no say on the situation. This is
relevant to anyone as from this scene it is shown not to trust others easily. This is relevant because like

Gap Year Advantages
Gaining experience is essential which lead one to improve in daily life and professional life. A gap
year is a new phenomenon which is recently very popular among young people. In the past, people
would not be able to take a gap year, and they had to continue their study non stope in order to obtain
their desired degree. Having a gap in between their study would cause significant damage to a future
profession, but nowadays the tradition of studying straight forwards is abolished, and no one considers
a gap year as a problem. Many schools and colleagues offer the gap year to their student and
encourage them to take a year off of school. Martha Merrill said once It s reached the point where a lot
of us in admissions are talking about ways to get students to just kind of relax [between high school
and college]. A gap year can have many advantages such as, determination of future profession,
appreciation of higher education and accelerating maturity.
A gap year can be significantly help students to determine their future job. Having a dream job is
common among students who are ambitious and willing to work hard to gain what they deserve. But
reality and dream are far away of each other. The wrong perception of dream job can lead to a disaster.
A year is a sufficient time for a student to research on their dream job by talking with people who
work in that field or surfacing on the internet and gathering information. For instance, one of my

Amyloid Β Precursor Protein Analysis
Amyloid β Precursor Protein (APP) is a gene that provides instructions for making a protein called
amyloid precursor protein (Andrew, 2009). Amyloid precursor protein is found in several tissues and
organs including the brain and the spinal cord in other words the central nervous system (Andrew,
2009). Some studies suggest that in the brain, APP help direct movement of nerve cells during early
development. For instance, APP may be involved in the regulation of synaptogenesis which is the
formation of synapses between neurons in the nervous system (Dawkins, 2014).
Additionally, APP is cut by enzymes that create smaller fragments that are often released outside the
cell. Some fragments that help play a role in AD are soluble amyloid precursor

and tragedy. The story teller of the novel is a young girl named Briony who lives an egocentric life
and has a passion for writing. Her sister Cecilia and a young man named Robbie are star crossed

Robbie tries to convince her to rekindle her relationships Cecilia claims she has to desire to do so
because she points out that when they wrecked your life they wrecked mine (McEwan 253). In a way
Cecilia s revenge on her family for not only turning on Robbie, but her as well is shown in her
distance and lack of communication she has with them. It is revealed that she never forgives her sister
for what she did to her life and she never is able to presume her relationship with Robbie because she
dies in a bombing attack during the war. Cecilia is not able to reverse the ripple effect of Briony s
misconception due to her disconnect with her family, separation with her lover, and her death. Cecilia
s lover Robbie Turner is the other protagonist who is mainly impacted by Briony s false pretenses. His
life was not only turned upside down, but also ruined for the rest of his life. No one questions his guilt
or tries to prove his innocence besides Cecilia. The Tallis family who once treated him like another
son stabbed his back without questioning it. Briony took away his freedom and also his dreams. Mr.
Tallis was going to put Robbie through medical school so he could pursue his ideal job as a doctor.

Rebecca Krieger Cottingham
Born in 1963
Has lived in the following places between 1963 and 1989: Batesville, Indiana; Tucson, Arizona;
Bloomington, Indiana; Singapore; Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C.
This interview was done on July 17, 2016, at 6:00 pm
Part B
Me: Thank you for allowing me to interview you. I would like to ask you about the subject of the Cold
War. At the end, I will also be asking a couple personal questions.
Question 1: What was the first time you remember hearing about the conflict between the Soviet
Union (or the USSR) and the United States? Tell me about it.
Rebecca: Well, I cannot really remember the first time that I heard about the conflict between the
Soviet Union and the United States. If I think about it, I think that this knowledge was something that
I kind of just absorbed...but did not really understand because no one really took the time to explain
the situation to young children when I was young. I also really do not remember learning much about
the conflict while I was in school.
Strangely enough, I remember hiding in a closet one time, and trying to figure out how I was going to
hide and hold my breath, when the Russians came . I was trying to figure out how I could be so quiet
that they would not find me when they came to search the house. I also remember thinking that the
Russians were somewhere not that far away, where they could easily travel into Indiana and invade
and take over.

  • 2. The Importance Of The Second Amendment To The United... Do you know what function the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution actually serves? No, it is not so that people can go hunting or protect themselves against personal assault. Neither is it a stupid, brainless provision that some lamebrain slipped into the Constitution. Like a shield of freedom, it is one of the primary reasons that the United States Constitution still stands. As one who is not a gun owner, I treasure the Second Amendment. It is one of our best safeguards against tyranny, not from foreign governments, but from our own. This amendment reads, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The militia written of here is a volunteer army that basically provides its own weapons. That is, these are soldiers who are already armed, who already have their own guns. In The Federalist Papers, the authors wrote of concerns that a standing army could lead to tyranny (loss of freedom), so the Second Amendment was conceived in such a way that the U.S. could have an army at need, and would not have to have a large standing army. This was so that the national government would not threaten our freedom. (Trust me; it s in there.) There are historical examples of governments wanting to tighten their controls over the people, so they went out and disarmed the people (like the sword hunt in Japan), or made it illegal for them to own weapons (there are ... • 5. What Is The Theme Of Anthropocentrism Rejection of Anthropocentrism in Select Poems of Robinson Jeffers Ms. D. Nivethitha, II M.A. English Literature, Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore The concept of Anthropocentrism is deep rooted in the very nature of human beings and can be seen even in the primitive ages when the humans are believed to have lived in unison with nature. Even in that period their harmonious relationship with the non human natural world existed as a sort of necessity for their survival and not out of love for nature. The idea of anthropocentrism in which man occupies the central position and is given the primary importance when compared to all the other living and non living organisms in nature, gives him a right to tame and subdue nature. • 6. Network Security Practices Essay Today s corporate infrastructure is not the same as it was 10 years ago. In the past you were able to control the amount of attacks on a network because of the reasonable number, which is not the case today. At any given time an organizations network will be attacked or try to be attacked several hundred times in one day. For larger more well known organizations this number could grow significantly. To ensure your organization is not one of the ones on the 10 oclock news you have to ensure you have proper security practices in place to secure your network. It should clearly outline the different categories that data will fall into whether it be internal, external, general use or confidential. By doing so you now allow the employees to have a better understanding of what data they can manipulate and data that has to stay the same. 2. Remote Access Policies users are always going to want to access the office network from a remote site. We have to ensure that there are policies in place that allow them to do so but in a safe manner. If they are going to remotely access the network it has to be done in accordance with the security policies of the organization and not on their terms. This should include using a laptop or remote connection software that has been pre approved by the organizations security team, keeping IP s in a safe place, making sure that if they are accessing the network from a laptop to ensure that hard drive is encrypted. This will prevent anyone from gaining access the sensitive information if it is ever lost or stolen. Lastly not everyone should be granted remote access to the network; this privilege should only be given to people who have a legitimate need for it. 3. • 9. William Faulkner s `` A Rose For Emily `` While authors like Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King are known for their creepy writings, William Faulkner has achieved a level of disturbing that is hardly reached in short stories. A Rose for Emily is a story that shows how the insanity of one woman is able to shock an entire town, even in death. When first reading A Rose for Emily, anyone can see how twisted Emily Grierson is. Not only for the fact that she was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, but because this was not the first time that she had kept a dead body in her house. While her family does have a history of mental instability, stating that, remembering old lady Wyatt, her great aunt, had gone completely crazy at last (section II), she is able to out do the impossible and create an aura of mystery that surrounds her both during life and death. After reading this story, it makes the audience question not only the reasoning that Emily has behind not only killing Homer, but keeping his body trapped in her house up until she met death as well. It also brings to attention how much the townsfolk actually influenced the progression of insanity that caused Emily and those around her, so much turmoil. For example, if the townsfolk had not used Emily as a source of entertainment and gossip, would she have stayed the recluse? While, the townsfolk are not to blame, it makes readers wonder: what if? Another question that I had while reading this story is, who was the narrator? The narrator, whoever they are, is able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Essay On Life Insurance INSURANCE BUSINESS PRE NATIONALISATION 2.1.1 The Concept of Insurance The entire modern world process has to face numerous risks and uncertainties. Thus in business, as in private life, there are dangers and risks of every kind. The concept of risk may be explained as the possibility of unfavourable results following from any occurrence. In a dynamic and free economy and life such risks are inevitable. The risk may mean that there is a possibility of loss or damage. It may or may not happen. When an event is stated to be possible, it has a possibility between zero and one, it is neither impossible not definite. The degree of risk may or may not be measurable. To the ordinary man in the street „risk‟ means exposure to danger. But at the same time in insurance practice risk is also used for peril or loss producing events. For example, it is said that insurance covers the risks of fire, explosion, cyclone, flood etc. Here the risks refer to the subject matter of insurance. Any risk contingent upon these may be insured against a premium commensurate with the risk involved. Thus a collective bearing of risk is insurance. Insurance, whether life or non life, provides people with reasonable degree of security and assurance that they will be protected in the event of a calamity or failure of any sort. • 11. Persuasive Essay On Homeless 47,725 or about 8% of the homeless population are veterans and 50% of the homeless people are over 50 years old in the U.S. Homelessness is an unsatisfactory issue that we as humans do not see the importance of the help they need. In our community, we take things for granted and not worry about the importance of helping others. The unfortunate people living in the streets have passed through difficult times and appreciate small or big things. Homeless is a person without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets. Some homeless people have become abusive of drugs, alcohol, and other different type of drugs. Homelessness is a major problem in our society. Homelessness contaminates our city, makes our city look dirty, and it is priority to fix this problem. To begin, homelessness contaminates our city and spreads diseases like Hepatitis A, HIV/AIDS of sexually transmitted infections, virus and Tuberculosis. For example, when the unhoused go to the public bathroom, sometimes they do not clean themselves or wash their hands. During, the homeless pass it on to their neighbors or other living creatures and spread or contaminate with different types of diseases. Homeless contaminate our city by littering on the ground with plastic, foil, and other types of things that contaminate. Based on what I have seen, one example is when I go down to the Santa Ana Public Library my mom, sister, and I see that there are various amounts of trash on the ground. To include, when my family and I pass through the Angels Stadium in Anaheim I see that there are numerous homeless people that are contaminating our environment with plenty of diseases. To add, in the short story ¨What do Fish Have to do With Anything¨ by Avi, it states that ¨his matted, streaky gray hair hung like a ragged curtain over his dirty face when describing the homeless man. As a matter of fact, the author states, his shoes were torn; he had rough hands that lay upon his knees; and his hand was palm up. No one seemed to pay him any attention and he begs for money. Because he is filthy, most likely he is carrying bacteria that may cause diseases. In my community, near the riverbed you can tell that the homeless leave their feces ... • 12. Ballet Male Gaze Under the male gaze, the female body will always be sexualized no matter what choreography she is executing, how she is dressed or what she says. This occurs because the male gaze is driven by sexual anxiety (Schultz, 368). This means that a male feels the need to look at a woman as an object in order to make her difference and the mystery that surrounds her seems rational in his mind. I pose the following question, Why does this matter to my argument and to ballet? The male gaze has been instituted within the audience and within society that art must be viewed in a certain way. The male gaze has told viewers to believe that the ballerina is being manipulated by the male. The male gaze has influenced viewers to believe that ballerinas ... Finally, I will look at the man s comfort in flat ballet shoes in comparison to the pointe shoe and pose the question is it a privilege to wear flat shoes or is it a state of fear, fear of pain associated with pointe shoes? As a dancer myself, pointe work is very important to me and I know from firsthand experience how much physical strength and technical prowess must be attained in order to master the art form. With evidence from Statistics Canada, it shows the percentage of how much the black market is affecting the GDP. It also discusses the main causes as to why some sellers choose to be in the underground economy and how they could benefit from it temporarily. Underground economies in a long run are invisible actions that creates very visible consequences, including the vicious cycle of low tax revenue, less quality and quantity in public goods, discourage in money circulation, drawbacks to GDP, lowered employment rate and a society that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All kinds of goods and services are available in an underground economy. The most commonly traded goods and services are goods and services that are available in the official market, but at a lower cost in the black market; or goods and services that has a limited supply in the official market, but are sold at an elevated price in the Black market. Despite the trade being illegal, as long as both the seller and buyer comes to an agreement on the price, they trade privately with cash to avoid being detected. Although many sellers get away with this, at the end of the day underground economy is a continued cycle of affecting the country and its citizens, including sellers and buyers in the black market, mostly its tax revenues will be affected, then the GDP, and finally its citizens. All Black market trades are done in the shadows, but if the root causes of the continued growth in the underground economy are known, things could be done to eliminate the number of black market trades as much as possible. Underground economy is disruptive to the society, to avoid these negative effects; it should be eliminated as much as possible. • 14. Chronic Wasting Disease Analysis Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a fatal neurodegenerative transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE ) found in some white tailed deer. CWD is associated with diseases such as Mad Cow disease, Scrapie, and Creutzfeldt Jakob disease. With well supported evidence it is hypothesized that CWD originated from Scrapie. The causation of CWD is an abnormal form of PrPcwd prion. This prion is a naturally occurring protein found in mammals. Prions lack genome and are highly resistant to degradation. Chronic Wasting Disease can be transmitted by direct contact between the animals and/or on resources such as salt licks. With a team, Chris Janelle, studied white tail deer in Wisconsin. Over a 9,000 square mile sample area, more than 185,000 deer were sampled by the Wisconsin DNR and more than 2,500 of those deer were CWD positive. It is believed that CWD has been around since the late 60s early 70s, and derived from scrapie or may be human induced. • 15. Too Much Stress in Teens Lives It is no question that adults have large amounts of stress as a result of jobs, money, family issues and the economy. What is often overlooked is how much stress and anxiety teens experience. It is common knowledge that teens worry about school, grades, and sports; but this does not even begin to scratch the surface of the amount of stress teens go through. Teens today feel pressure from the whole of society to conform and to be popular or in style. Teens are also expected to plan for, and have their future mapped out; whether that involves pursuing a career or starting a family, or even both. All of these stresses can lead to a number of serious physical and mental issues including low self esteem, self harm, and even thoughts of suicide. The worst part about teen stress is that teens do not know how to handle it. And best friends share everything; their thoughts, their dreams, but most importantly, their ideas. So could it be possible that Capote, a prolific writer, could have played a role in writing Lee s esteemed novel, To Kill a Mockingbird? Doubtful. Through comparisons of Lee s only work to Capote s A Christmas Memory it can be seen that despite similarities, these friends works differ too greatly in the way they set the tone, emphasize their themes, and utilize imagery for them to have worked together on her novel. This is the scene where the children learn their father, whom they believe to have no physical skills, is the best shot in town after shooting a rabid dog. There is no direct interpretation from the narrator leaving readers with only the characters dialogue to ponder. The effect is a speechless tone. While one author interacts with the text as the author, setting up each scene and action, the other only interacts as a character and this can be directly attributed to which tense they write. So despite similar overlying tones and point of views, Capote and Lee diverge immediately in style. As most authors do, both Lee and Capote wound similar themes and subthemes throughout their pieces, yet use completely different techniques to isolate these themes. In To Kill a Mockingbird, the theme is stated multiple times, interpreted by every character, and then confirmed by the narrator. • 26. Man And Evil In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness Although the author Joseph Conrad never met the German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, who died more than a century before Conrad s birth, their distinct philosophies still have numerous points of intersection, suggesting some fundamental truths within the structure of the human reality. Through the novella, Heart of Darkness, Conrad details his perspectives on the faults of man and reality as a whole, with views often coinciding with many of Leibniz s own, as found in his numerous philosophical works. Consequently, the two perspectives combine together, like a cyclopean image, to enhance and deepen each of the two men s philosophies on humanity. Conrad and Leibniz both note that man has an underlying vulnerability to evil. Among Leibniz s many conceptual principles is that of perfection vs imperfection, as he claims that no being is entirely flawed or completely ideal (Burnham, n.d.). Rather, all men possess varying magnitudes of perfection, except God, however, whom Leibniz believes to be the embodiment of infinite perfection (Burnham, n.d.). Continuing, Leibniz explains that man s limited perfection causes a lack of good, in contrast to just an unequivocal inherent evil, that consequently allows man the ability to create evil, arguing that evil and sin are only negations of positive reality, a principle that corresponds heavily with Leibniz s belief in theodicy, which serves as an attempt to explain and reconcile evil in the world with its creator, a ...
