A Brief Note On Malpractice And Liability Issues
Malpractice and liability are touchy topics when they relate to the profession of social work.
Ignorance and good intentions are no longer acceptable excuses whenever a social worker makes a
serious mistake within their practice. Practitioners are required to seek out knowledge in order to
prevent malpractice suits and unethical behavior (Dolgoff et. al, 2012). One of the biggest causes of
malpractice suits when dealing with technology is confidentiality breaches. It is easier to break
confidentiality when you are using systems that are not always 100 percent secure and private.
Reamer (2013) mentions that social workers must be knowledgeable on all forms of digital media that
use in their practice. Many malpractice suits could have been prevented if the worker had more
knowledge on the issue involved. An issue can be unethical, but legal and vice versa (Dolgoff et. al,
2012). For example, not properly maintaining records is not considered a crime, but is unethical
within the social work profession. Another example would be a worker refusing to send a child back
to a home where the child is being sexually assaulted after the court made the order to do so. I would
not see this as unethical because the worker is advocating for the safety of the child, but it would be
viewed as a crime in the eyes of society
Some other malpractice suits that can arise when incorporating electronic media into traditional
treatment include: abandonedment, improper documentation,

Renaissance Influence On The Historical And Social...
Renaissance Influence on the Historical and Social Significance of Self Portraiture During the
Renaissance, artists were acquiring status and the technical means to create a new genre of art called
self portraiture (Bond). Portraits are defined as having a likeness of a specific individual (Adams).
However, self portraits do not only have a likeness of the artist but also a sense of psychology that
connects the viewer to the artist. This connection gives the self portrait a depth of complexity that
even portraits do not always achieve. Following the development of self portraiture, one must
transverse the development of portraiture. Then one must follow self portraits connection to
portraiture and self portraits own unique development. Then one must recognize the influence of the
society on the value of the artist and their artworks. In order to understand the significance of the
development of self portraiture, one must have some familiarity with the history of portraiture and its
development as a whole. Portraiture is a facet of the artistic community that retains a deep history
from multiple ancient cultures. In Ancient Egyptian, around fifteen thousand B.C., artists carved out
portraits, mostly of the pharaohs. Also, many of the portraits created were meant to reside in the
patron s tomb upon his or her death. These portraits or funerary statues provided a physical form for
the spirit to use in the afterlife (Walker, Appendix 1). Around two hundred B.C., Romans seemed

Great Job By All Handling The Guests With Younger Children...
Great Job
What a phenominal message last week and even more, what a great job by all handling the guests with
younger children. We had a record number of youth in the youth services and a record number of 1st
time families. You made them feel welcome and you let them know in a loving way that the message
was for adults. Sever parents chose to bring their children and young adults in to benefit fromhearing
the message and we applaud this. So again, great job.
Please remeber to stay aware for 1st time guests as the enter and to greet them as the enter the
Sanctuary. I know it can be hard to focus on the guest with the incredilbe praise and worship band
playing and it s especially hard when there is a message that we need to hear. This is why we highly
encourage to worship at one service and serve at the other. This allows you to focus on getting fed and
serving without sacrificing either.
You are an amazing team and I am so honored to be serving with you. See you Sunday.
Let this month of service be one of real joy as you serve the One you worship.
It all begins with reflection. There are two parts to this: reflecting ON God and allowing the Spirit of
God to work within us so that we become better reflections OF God.
REFLECT on GOD:
I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago I will meditate
on all Your works and consider all your mighty deeds.
(Psalm 77:11 12)
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you,

Discrimination In The Movie Bullies
Think of how different the world would be if we did not accept other s views. How would that affect
us? Three creators thought about this topic and show how the world could be. They showed different
situations through a movie, an article, and a court hearing. Without accepting other views violence and
discrimination would be inevitable and could cause much worse problems. Today acceptance of views
is practiced by a large majority of the population around the world. Opinions on people or objects
should not be dependent on beliefs or contrast of views is a recurring message.
Throughout the film Bullied directed by Bill Brummel, Jamie came out as a homosexual and the other
boys did not like that. They physically hurt him by hitting, kicking and even peeing on him just
because he was different. Many classmates at Ashland Middle School saw him as gay that was enough
for some campus bullies (1:54 2:03). This statement shows the discrimination against Jamie just on
the fact that he is different. Jamie was against the bullies because they ridiculed him. The bullies were
against Jamie because he was gay. I just know that it hurt a lot to hear those words every day (2:11
2:13) said Jamie about being bullied every day. The quote by Jamie shows the difficult times and
feelings not only him but all people can accumulate if discriminated against. By the end of the story,
Jamie defended himself by putting a lawsuit, which he won, on the school system for failure to oblige
to complaints from Jamie and his family. This film can show what some people go through in life
without acceptance of differences. Again implying the severe importance of acceptance of differences.
In the article Towards a True Refuge the author, Aung San Suu Kyi discusses problems we have we
discrimination and how that affects immigration and communications with other countries. The
greatest threats to global security today come not from the economic deficiencies of the poorest
nations but from religious, racial (or tribal) and political dissensions (lines 4 6). Aung San Suu Kyi
wrote this statement to say global security is merely a fear of differences in cultures. The nation is
against immigrants and others because they did not feel safe around

Standing Waves Lab
This lab demonstrated qualities of standing waves with great help from a mechanical vibrator, a sine
wave generator, and a piece of string. Through this lab we were able to understand how to calculate
the speed of a wave on a string. A standing wave is defined as a wave that travels forward, then is
reflected creating nodes (regions with minimal to zero energy).
If the frequency of a standing wave is increased then more loops will be created, and because of that
the wavelengths will be decreased. Throughout this experiment, transverse waves are generated. We
know this because of the perpendicular movement of the string that creates crests and troughs.
In this experiment we began by measuring the length and finding the mass of our string. Then, we tied
the string to the wave driver and the pulled it over the pulley and attached a weight with a mass of
0.070 kg the then end of the string. Once we did that, we calculated our predictions for the frequencies
of the various harmonics. After that we connected the wave driver to the sine wave generator and set
the amplitude knob to the midway point. Then we searched for the correct frequency to find the first,
second, and third harmonic. After we completed this, we tried the experiment two more times with
0.100 kg and 0.120 kg.
One of the main points of this experiment was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After finding the speed we can predict what the smallest frequency is to create a standing wave. This
is known as the first harmonic which is also known as the fundamental frequency. Throughout this
experiment we place different weights on the end of the string, because of this different tensions are
created and the speed is calculated differently. We do this in order to examine how the different
tensions of the string can create different frequencies for

Vester Lee Flanagan Case
A reporter and cameraman of WDBJ7 in Roanoke, Va., were shot and killed Wednesday during a live
broadcast of the morning news. Vester Lee Flanagan II fired 17 shots from point blank range to kill
Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, and injuring another woman before taking his own life later
that day. After fleeing the scene, Flanagan left no evidence of where he was planning on going or what
he would do next. After five hours of searching, Virginia police caught up to his car, and Flanagan
shot himself, according to the Franklin County Sheriff s Office. Authorities say that Flanagan had
close ties with terrorist organizations that assisted the attacks in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001. The
Wednesday shooting appeared to be solo attack, and he left no indication of telling anyone else ...

In the video that was taken by Ward at the time of the broadcast, shots and screaming can be heard,
and Parker can be seen attempting to escape from Flanagan. Vicki Gardner was the woman Parker
interviewed that morning at 6:45 a.m. as Flanagan opened fire. Her husband, Tim Gardner, told Good
Morning America that Gardner was shot at three times, but she managed to dodge two of the bullets.
She is now recovering from her injuries. Inside of the car Flanagan drove, police found a to do list, 17
stamped letters, a wig, three licence plates, two Glock handguns and ammunition, according to the
search warrant filed in a Fauquier County court. Authorities say it was a well planned and well
oraganized attack on the journalists. A 22 page letter written by Flanagan was sent to ABC News
stating that the attack was fuelled by the shooting at a Charleston, S.C., church this summer. On
Twitter, he claimed Parker made racist comments and Ward reported him to Human Services when he
was still working at WDBJ7, but officials from the station said there was no employee

Personal Narrative-Aisha Doesn T Accept Me
I d had enough. If my family couldn t accept me for who I was I didn t know who else could. Ever

the children s room Aisha was the last of the children still in bed. Her lock of dark hair covered her
face and she looked so peaceful I almost didn t want to wake her. Wake up, Aisha. I whispered into
Aisha s ear, trying my best not to wake Patty s children who slept soundly in their beds on the other

Telephoto Lens
A telephoto lens can also change the perspective of the picture, giving a completely new angle or
focus to your photo. Also, telephoto lenses are handy at compressing perspective. This is when the
background of a photo appears to be closer to the subject than what is experienced with the naked eye.
This is beneficial when you cannot physically move your subject closer to the background. You can
also fill the frame of your photo by getting shots from a far distance. This will bring in objects further
back into the frame, filling out the edges of your shot nicely. With this lens, you can isolate far away
objects much better than with a wide angle lens. Since the telephoto zoom closes the distance between
you and your subject, it is ideal for capturing pictures of wildlife. Next to using an actual telescope, a
telephoto lens is the best way to photograph the moon. It can show features and definition of the moon
that your DSLR would otherwise not pick up. This lens can also capture action shots, as well as create
a shallow depth of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same is true if you were to angle your camera down towards the ground. Generally, you will want
to point your camera straight ahead focused on the object you are capturing. Since wide angle lenses
can capture more area. This creates impressive space expanding photos with a strong depth of field. A
strong depth of field is when the background seems to go on forever, and there are many defining
features you can pick out. This is very popular in landscape and other environmental pictures when
there is not one specific subject, but instead the scenery is the most important element of the photo. As
you can see, there are many reasons why a wide angle lens may interest you. Prices start in the $150
range, and increase depending on brand and specifications. After the kit and telephoto lens, it is the

The J.B. by Archibald MacLeish Argues Why God Allows Evil...
If God is powerful and loving the humankind, then why does He permit evil as well as suffering in
this world? Various answers had been offered by many Christian philosophers and many victims of
suffering, but there was not a lucid answer that could settle this argument permanently. God uses
malicious acts of this world to rise up His own people and remind them that there is an opportunity
that they can posses their eternal life. Literature, especially biblical literature has exploited this
biblical nature to its fullest in various types of forms, including the play J.B. by Archibald MacLeish.
In the play J.B, Archibald MacLeish reanimates and modernizes elements taken from the story of Job
to come up with his own response to the ultimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sarah once asked her children on a Thanksgiving Day, Has anyone of you thanked God? Really
thanked Him? (29). At first, Sarah fearfully respects God, because she already knows that her
prosperity that she has today is going to be taken by God eventually. Sarah s true temperament is not
truly revealed after the death of her five children. Has death no meaning? Pain no meaning? , Sarah
questioned J.B (109). Sarah is bitter and angry at God, because she does not expect God to take away
her loved ones that fast. She even becomes more depressed and hopeless when J.B is still faithful to
God at this point. At the end of Scene Eight when Mrs. Murphy said, And he s alone now , implying
the leaving of Sarah for her own good. Sarah is an example of fake piety that is fallen after an
astonishing punishment. Just like the story of Job where god takes away Job s animals and family, J.B
s five children are now gone along with his job as a banker. Fortunately, J.B still stays strong despite
the fact that his family is corrupting, because he believes that God will show him his guilt as one of
God s puppet so he can be released from the prison of anxiety.

What s So Bad About Plastic Bags? Plastic bags are not biodegradable. They clog waterways, spoil

danger to birds and marine mammals that often mistake them for food. Thousands die each year after

Battle Of The Philippines Essay
The Philippines is a small island nation in Southeast Asia that normally has little consequence to the
rest of the world. During World War II however, it sat directly in Japan s oil shipping lanes. This made
it a strategic necessity for Japan to hold in order to maintain access to the natural resources that were
vital to the Japanese war effort. To compound the necessity of retaking the Philippines, General
Douglas MacArthur stated that the Allies had a moral obligation to liberate the islands as he had told
the people, I shall return, when he was forced to retreat to Australia in the winter of 1942. Other plans
to bypass the Philippines and attack Formosa (Taiwan) had been presented but due to the large amount

Deception In Twelfth Night Essay
Shakespeare s play Twelfth Night is based off the traditional Christian holiday a day on which the
normality of the world is turned upside down. On this particular day, the normal order of things is
disrupted and the social standings of lower and upper social class members are reversed. The title is
delightfully fitting for the play, as the storyline is comprised of comical disruption within the social
decorum of Illyria. In this essay, I will examine how the carnival atmosphere of the Twelfth Night
holiday is reflected in the way the play is constructed. Shakespeare introduces a topsy turvy world
where metaphoric boundaries are crossed with the created ambiguity of gender and the act of
deception. The use of literary devices such as dramatic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
General confusion arises due to the deceptive actions of several characters in the play. A notable act of
deception in the play is seen when Maria and Sir Toby play a trick on the head servant, Malvolio.
They are successful in misleading him to act strangely, which convinces everyone that he has gone
mad. In the hopes of wooing his master Olivia, Malvolio starts behaving strangely. He begins to wear
yellow stockings and smiles excessively; behaviours that are all uncharacteristic of his usual prude
and stern self. The prank is extremely convincing, to the point that Maria describes his outlandish
behaviour as a very renegade, for there is no Christian that means to be saved by believing rightly can
ever believe such impossible passages of grossness, (3.2.66 69). Despite being the one who tricked
Malvolio, Maria cannot believe what she is seeing and compares his behaviour as someone who has
lost his Christian faith. Otherwise, she cannot simply believe that anyone in their right mind would
believe the statements made in the fake love letters. Here, we see how a simple act of deception has
disrupted normalcy as this character is supposedly going mad . In another scene, deception breeds
chaos once again when Sir Toby encourages Sir Andrew to battle Cesario to win Olivia s heart.
Despite the fact that neither party wanted to fight and was in fact terrified at the very idea, Sir Toby
continues to cause conflict by stirring up an altercation that was nonexistent to begin with. To
compound such deceptive actions, Viola s pretense as a pageboy creates further confusion when her
brother Sebastian appears at the end of the play. The mistaken identity becomes troublesome when
Antonio is arrested in front of Cesario and when Sebastian married Olivia. In both cases, because of
past lies, other characters are misled to think that an act of betrayal

Astronomy Vs Astrology Research Paper
Astronomy and astrology are very similar, yet different. Astronomy is the study of the universe and
what s inside of it, as well as other universes. Astrology is the study of how the actions and
movements of things in our universe affect what happens on earth, and people. Although they both
deal with the universe and one was founded by the other, they also have many things that set them
apart from one another. This essay will talk about the differences and similarities of astronomy and
astrology and how each is used.
One of the main differences between astrology and astronomy is that astronomy is based off of
research and facts, while astrology is based on the beliefs. Founded in Babylon, astrology uses planets
and other celestial objects to try to predict the future. Astrology is not a science, it is the theorem that
everything that happens in space affects what happens to people on earth. Astrology is considered a
pseudoscience, or a belief that is not based on science or the scientific method. ... Show more content

Astronomers study the planets, stars, and other celestial objects to try to understand how the universe
works. They also study things like collisions, black holes and other things that could potentially affect
earth. Astronomers gain information about objects in space from telescopes, and satellites. They can
also use mathematical equations to find the positions of planets and stars in our universe. These
telescopes and satellites observe light reflected by things such as planets, meteors, or stars in space
and use it to make observations. Then the Astronomers job is to collect and analyze the data observed.
Similarities of the two are that astronomy was founded by astrology. Both relate to the sun, moon,
stars, and sometimes their actions such as orbiting. Also, they both require observations of the
universe. They will always be related because they have similar characteristics and were founded on
the same

1984 Dystopian Society
The book 1984 was written by George Orwell in 1948, the main theme of this book is social science
fiction. A underlying theme is this book is a dystopian future: the social, economical, and political
problems are issues that are lied about, prove this. When looking at the social aspect of life in 1984 all
social groups are treated very different yet at the same time are all treated the same. In 1984 there is a
very obvious hierarchal system; the top is The Inner Party, than The Outer Part, and on the bottom of
the list are the proles. In Oceania this society strictly follows this, and does not deviate from these set
rules of class. Each social group in 1984 are marginalized, excluded, and silenced, the way that this

As usual, there was no definite rule against talking to proles and frequenting their pubs, but it was far
too unusual an action to pass unnoticed (87). This just shows how odd it is for Party Members to talk
to proles, but when a Party Member does need to they do it knowing only a little backlash will happen
if they are questioned. The proles live in parts of Oceania that are the slums of the state. As Winston
walks around the proles part of town, he brings up that it doesn t smell good at all. If there was hope, it
must lie in the proles, because only there, in those swarming disregarded masses, eighty five percent
on the population of Oceania (69). Winston says he has hope that these people will rise up, you can

moved always among them, spreading false rumors and marking down and eliminating the few
individuals who were judged capable of becoming dangerous: but no attempt was made to indoctrinate
them with the ideology of the party (71). The party Doesn t want to waste their resources on the proles
so they just marginalize them and pretend like they re not there. The Thought Police and Party don t
care about the proles at all, the Thought Police go around spreading rumor just so that they can see if
any of the proles will react, than the Thought Police take them away and silence them, and most likely

The Genre Of The Sub Genre
Each genre has their conventional way of displaying themselves in movie titles. The sub genre not
often talked about, inspirational teacher/drama has this exact same flow, it has various key elements
that make up their story and become part of that sub genre. Given the importance of storytelling as an
organizational knowledge transfer mechanism, there is a need to develop a comprehensive and well
grounded framework for analyzing organizational stories to identify their salient characteristics, types
of knowledge embodied and their likely effectiveness in achieving their purpose. (Lee et al. 1). This
concept can be applied to all types of storytelling, sub genres are no exception. In the case of this sub
genre, there are various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This wasn t very given light on the subject however it is clear it is an issue due to the whole school
having an academic failure and being played by an all black cast. 1988 was the time a film Stand and
Deliver was directed by Ramón Menéndez. Their story s protagonists were a group of Hispanic
students taking AP calculus in a low academic achieving school. The school board doesn t believe they
can produce great marks. As said by their mentor Jaime Escalante said: Those scores would have
never been questioned if my kids did not have Spanish surnames and come from burial grounds. The
same correlation can be made in the movie Great Debaters directed by Denzel Washington in 2007
when a black debating team staying in a white prominent community is chased off by some of the
town members after witnessing a lynching of the black citizen. Is it obvious that they are being
discriminated after a white townsperson exclaims There s niggers in that car and chases after them.
This film takes a more radical approach to discrimination, which creates a more impactful emphasis
on discrimination. A film that doesn t acknowledge discrimination however clearly is presented is the
2010 Karate Kid directed by Harald Zwarts. Dre an African American moves to china and is outcasted
due to not knowing the culture. There is not verbal talk of being a different race, this method of
discrimination is unique since the

Juan Dichotomy
In the final scene of the film, Juan faces his inexorable death at the horns of a bull. The ending
represents a return home, both in terms of character and color scheme. Immediately prior to his final
fight, Juan announced his plans to retire: a certain kiss of death. Though his retirement is an active
choice, it is also a surrender to the wishes of his loved ones. This dichotomy of control and surrender
is the logical and inevitable endpoint of Juan s character arc. The control of color is manifested in his
choice to wear a white suit, with no doubt about his desire to draw attention. However, by confidently
turning his back on the bull, he renounces his control over the fight, and is promptly gored and flung a
great distance. Where the arena

Eukaryotic Cells
Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic
There are two basic types of cells, prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells. The main difference between
eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells is that eukaryotic cells have a nucleus. The nucleus is where cells
store their DNA, which is the genetic material. The nucleus is surrounded by a membrane. Prokaryotic
cells do not have a nucleus. Instead, their DNA floats around inside the cell. Organisms with
prokaryotic cells are called prokaryotes. All prokaryotes are single celled (unicellular) organisms.
Bacteria and Archaea are the only prokaryotes. Organisms with eukaryotic cells are called eukaryotes.
Animals, plants, fungi, and protists are eukaryotes. All multicellular organisms are eukaryotes.
Eukaryotes may also be single celled.
Both prokaryotic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some eukaryotic species have just a few chromosomes, others have close to 100 or more. These
chromosomes are protected within the nucleus. In addition to a nucleus, eukaryotic cells include other
membrane bound structures called organelles. Organelles allow eukaryotic cells to be more
specialized than prokaryotic cells. Pictured below are the organelles of eukaryotic cells (Figure
below), including the mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi apparatus. These will be
discussed in additional concepts.
Organelles of a eukaryotic cell
Eukaryotic cells contain a nucleus and various other special compartments surrounded by membranes,
called organelles. The nucleus is where the DNA (chromatin) is stored. Organelles give eukaryotic
cells more functions than prokaryotic cells.
Prokaryotic Cells
Prokaryotic cells (Figure below) are usually smaller and simpler than eukaryotic cells. They do not
have a nucleus or other membrane bound organelles. In prokaryotic cells, the DNA, or genetic
material, forms a single large circle that coils up on itself. The DNA is located in the main part of the

Witness For The Prosecution Essay
This 1957 courtroom production Witness for the Prosecution based on a short story and later a play by
Agatha Christie involves the seasoned barrister and curmudgeon Sir Wilfred Robarte, played by
Charles Laughton. He takes on the murder defense of Leonard Vole played by Tyrone Power. Robarts
private nurse played by Elsa Lancaster objects constantly, reminding him of his doctor s advice to stay
away from criminal cases due to his ill health. Vole is accused of the murder of a wealthy older
woman Mrs. French played by Norma Varden who appeared to have fallen in love with Vole and
changed her will to give him the bulk of her estate. The evidence strongly points to Vole s
involvement. Vole claims his defense is based on the fact that his wife, Christine played by Marlene
Dietrich, will testify that Vole arrived home the evening of the murder long before it transpired.
Robarts counsels Vole that the testimony of his wife ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Preface Starts Off By William Lloyd Garrison
The preface starts off by William Lloyd Garrison describing his encounter with Frederick Douglass at
an anti slavery convention in Nantucket. Garrison tells us that Frederick Douglass made an escape
from the southern prison house of bondage and that his speech at the convention was a memorable
one. Frederick Douglass s had eloquence and a skill of persuading. Connecting people s minds and
hearts to his words of description about the reality of slavery. The audience responded with great
attention and created a common perspective about the actuality of slavery that Frederick Douglass
describes. As soon as Frederick Douglass finished his speech, Garrison arose and declared that the

Rather than the descriptions revealed by the masters who might have hide the significant facts about
his slaves life and the mistreatments they receive. Phillips was also glad to learn a lot of the true facts
from Douglass s narrative and learns the wretchedness of death that gathers over the souls of the
slaves before they could even learn their A B C s. Phillips also mentions that Frederick Douglass
originates from a state (Maryland) where the conditions for a slave were less harsh than the other
states in the Deep South. Where one can only imagine the horrors that surrounded the slaves in those
states. Wendell Phillips also praises his book and is also confident that whoever reads his book will be
persuaded towards the cause of anti slavery and that since Frederick Douglass is a marvelous and
persuasive speaker, his book will also consist of the same elements. Finally, he mentions to his friend
about how he wrote his own name and his masters names clearly in his narrative, making it dangerous
upon himself. Phillips also relates this choice towards the founding fathers when they wrote their
names on the Declaration of Independence. Here we can admire Frederick Douglass s bravery and that
he is not scared to spread the truth about the reality of slavery that many do not know.
Frederick Douglass was born in Talbot county, Maryland. Douglass explains that he does not know his
age, as many other slaves also do not know their

Till We Have Faces Summary
C.S. Lewis never claimed to be a theologian in fact he claimed quite the opposite. His works fell more
into the category of apologetics than anything else, and he delved into Christian literature, science
fiction, non fiction, as well as a host of other genres, but never claimed to be doctrine savvy. However
In his classic work, Till We Have Faces (a retelling of the Greco Roman myth of Cupid and Psyche),
C.S. Lewis explores and illustrates the complexities of the modern man s as well as his own divine
search for God and justice. He does this by using the princess Orual s ardent questioning and
denouncement of her own gods and the fervid, pursuant love that the god Cupid and the princess
Psyche share as examples of the search for Christ that all of humanity must experience.
A gentle discord between her mind and heart, even as a child Psyche feels she does not belong with
the mortals around her. Nor, however, does Lewis s Psyche see herself as a goddess as the rest of her
nation does. She is instead trapped between worlds, and is not allowed to be fully human or fully
divine. This all changes when Psyche is to be sent to her presumable death as a punishment for being
called more beautiful than the goddess Venus herself. In Apuleius The Golden Ass (the most classic ...

Lewis s argument on man s search for the divine: that all of humanity must be humbled before God
before they may be met face to face. Orual s ardent questioning of the gods in their own court serves
as a reflection of Christ s gentle tolerance for such angry plaintiffs as mankind, and yet Lewis also
uses the court of the gods to illustrate the intimate moments when men may bring their complaints to
Christ, and He may gently reflect their own triviality back upon them. Queen Orual says: I know now,
Lord, why you utter no answer. You are yourself the answer. Before your face questions die away.

content area that this strategy comes from is social and emotional development and in the KDI of

White Chicks the movie is a true example of popular culture that speaks to reflective and elusive
topics involving race. White Chicks functions as a remarkable norm in terms of white privilege and
the exploration of power. There was something about the messages and references in White Chicks
that I just could not resist. White Chicks exposes Kevin and Marcus, partners in the FBI, men

White Chicks uses the body, the concept of black body in white body to convey humor and parody in
intricate ways. Where the men masked as white women, attain a position of supremacy. In many cases,
it is my opinion that whites simply do not perceive themselves as raced or marked. Regardless of the
power, respect, and status that accompany the job of being and FBI agent, the film shines light on the
race that marks them in an almost anonymous and invisible sense. For example, when they are sent to
escort Brittany and Tiffany Wilson from the airport, Kevin and Marcus are reduced to stereotypes. As
they greet the sister, Brittany says, We already gave to the United Negro fund (12: 25 28). Even in
their initial attempt to explain that they are FBI agents, the sisters declare there is no need for
communication, they have been assigned a meaning. As Kevin and Marcus clarify their purpose for
being there, the sisters then immediately refer to them as chauffeurs, considering them subordinate.
The Agents new mission is to carry the luggage and pack the car, Marcus is even forced to sit in the
back of the car with the luggage, to make enough room for the dog. Inferring that the dog is more
important. Baby got to ride in the car seat (12:50 53).This scene even alludes to American History
when blacks were forced to sit in the back of a bus, affirming the idea that the dog trumps Marcus.

To properly use the cost method in valuing your property, all direct and indirect costs associated with
it must be applied. Some general rules apply to the cost method including that for merchandise on
hand at the beginning of the tax year, cost means the inventory price of the goods. Also, for any
merchandise purchased during the year, cost means the invoice price less discounts plus freight and
other charges occurred in acquiring the goods. For any merchandised produced during the year, cost
means all direct and indirect costs that have to be capitalized under the uniform capitalization rules
(UNICAP). Under UNICAP, you must capitalize the direct costs and partial indirect costs for
production or resale activities subject to these rules. Rather than claiming these costs as a current
deduction, you include them in the basis of property your produce or acquire for resale. You recover
these costs through depreciation, amortization, or cost of goods sold when you use, sell, or dispose of
the property. Under the lower of cost or market method, compare the market value of each item on
hand on the inventory date with its cost and use the lower value of its inventory value. This method is
applied to goods purchased and on hand and basic elements of cost of goods being manufactured
(direct materials, direct labor). This method does not apply to goods accounted for under the LIFO
method. To

Evidence Based Practice In Nursing Theory
Nurses are confronted with a variety of issues, concerns, and conditions. All of these circumstances
require the use of various theories. According to Im and Chang (2012), there are many theories in
nursing that center on enduring issues, as well as the current issues that nurse s encounter. For this
reason, nursing theories can address the complexity of health care issues. This is especially true for
APNs who must meet more demanding health care needs. As an APN, there is a greater need to
understand the connection between theory and practice. McCrae (2012) stated that evidence based
practice is meaningful in regards to nursing theories, especially for the modern clinical environments

Plasmid Vs Ampicillin
After analyzing the data recorded for both the agar plates containing ampicillin and those that did not,
it can be concluded that the data provides enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis. There is
enough evidence to support the alternative hypothesis stating that there is a correlation between
plasmids coding for an antibiotic resistant gene and bacterial growth in ampicillin. When a bacterial
solution containing either pUC18 or the lux plasmid is transformed in an agar plate containing
ampicillin, only those cells which took in the plasmid are able to survive and replicate, forming
individual colonies. Not all cells are transformed though, the chances of a successful transformation

As expected the higher growth was seen in the E.coli cells growing outside ampicillin environments,
this is because they grow freely with only minor risk, such as contamination. Possible errors in the
experiment can have included the difference in the amount of liquid broth added to the E.coli sample
that contained no plasmid and that which contained a plasmid. The sample containing no plasmid
received half the amount of liquid broth (150µl) as that of the other two samples (300µl). Liquid broth
can have incremented the growth in the plates containing plasmid twice as much as on the rest of the
plates. Another artifact which can have affected the results was the time each solution spent in both the
ice and hot water bath. Uneven sharing may have also taken place within the E.coli used for each
plasmid leading to different amounts of colonial growth in the different agar plates used. More
accurate results would have been possible if there had been more variation in both E.coli and plasmid

Innovative Approaches Of Resistance And The Reorganization...
Through innovative approaches of resistance and the reorganization of the anti apartheid movement
and the African National Congress, Nelson Mandela helped bring an end to apartheid, an oppressive
form of government that promoted systematic segregation and institutionalized racism in South Africa.
The Afrikaans word apartheid means separateness, and during the period of the apartheid, people were
classified and separated into different racial groups where the civil and human rights of non whites
were curtailed (Clark and Worger xxi). Although apartheid started in 1948, the roots of inequality were
presented years before as a result of Dutch and British control. Both countries colonized South Africa
in order to control South Africa s lucrative and, generally, untapped mining industry. South African
workers, including the skilled and unskilled, were forsaken to work menial jobs and receive low
wages (34). The establishment of many unfair laws allowed for the takeover to occur; these laws mark
the beginning of apartheid and many more discriminatory regulations that were to come which
include, but are not limited to, pass laws, laws that required non whites to have identification that
showed their right to be in certain areas, and the exclusion of the non white vote (McCuen 17 18).
The daily lives of all South Africans were severely altered with the initiation and administration of
apartheid. Even the simple things like where a person could live, type of work, or places a person

Metamoratives In Life Of Pi By Yann Martel
In the novel Life of Pi (2001) written by Yann Martel the story is about a young man by the name of
Piscine Molitor Patel whose whole life changes in a blink of an eye and finds himself suddenly stuck
with a Bengal tiger by the name of Richard Parker after he faces a shipwreck and loses his family.
Yann brings the book to life when he puts imagination into it. In the first section of the novel, the book
covers Pi s childhood and how he majors in religious studies and zoology. In the second section of the
novel, Pi s transition into a man and how he brings out the animal in him is what basically gets him
and Richard Parker to survive for so long and not die. Pi does risky things in this section for example
when he chooses to train Richard Parker rather than to kill him and kills baby sharks as well to eat
them later on. Richard Parker becomes very important for Pi because Pi did not want to be left alone
on the raft. In part three of the novel, two Japanese investigators visit Pi while he is in the hospital and
Pi chooses to give his own story which gets the men kind of upset because they feel like he invents it
up but he chooses to give them that story for a reason and the men did not seem to get why.
Zoomorphism is one of the main metanarratives that stands out throughout the novel. In Part One of
the novel, the author constantly foreshadows events for the readers. The character Pi states that an
event that happened in his life that shapes who he became. Pi reflects on

  • 2. A Brief Note On Malpractice And Liability Issues Malpractice and liability are touchy topics when they relate to the profession of social work. Ignorance and good intentions are no longer acceptable excuses whenever a social worker makes a serious mistake within their practice. Practitioners are required to seek out knowledge in order to prevent malpractice suits and unethical behavior (Dolgoff et. al, 2012). One of the biggest causes of malpractice suits when dealing with technology is confidentiality breaches. It is easier to break confidentiality when you are using systems that are not always 100 percent secure and private. Reamer (2013) mentions that social workers must be knowledgeable on all forms of digital media that use in their practice. Many malpractice suits could have been prevented if the worker had more knowledge on the issue involved. An issue can be unethical, but legal and vice versa (Dolgoff et. al, 2012). For example, not properly maintaining records is not considered a crime, but is unethical within the social work profession. Another example would be a worker refusing to send a child back to a home where the child is being sexually assaulted after the court made the order to do so. I would not see this as unethical because the worker is advocating for the safety of the child, but it would be viewed as a crime in the eyes of society Some other malpractice suits that can arise when incorporating electronic media into traditional treatment include: abandonedment, improper documentation, ... • 4. Renaissance Influence On The Historical And Social... Renaissance Influence on the Historical and Social Significance of Self Portraiture During the Renaissance, artists were acquiring status and the technical means to create a new genre of art called self portraiture (Bond). Portraits are defined as having a likeness of a specific individual (Adams). However, self portraits do not only have a likeness of the artist but also a sense of psychology that connects the viewer to the artist. This connection gives the self portrait a depth of complexity that even portraits do not always achieve. Following the development of self portraiture, one must transverse the development of portraiture. Then one must follow self portraits connection to portraiture and self portraits own unique development. Then one must recognize the influence of the society on the value of the artist and their artworks. In order to understand the significance of the development of self portraiture, one must have some familiarity with the history of portraiture and its development as a whole. Portraiture is a facet of the artistic community that retains a deep history from multiple ancient cultures. In Ancient Egyptian, around fifteen thousand B.C., artists carved out portraits, mostly of the pharaohs. Also, many of the portraits created were meant to reside in the patron s tomb upon his or her death. These portraits or funerary statues provided a physical form for the spirit to use in the afterlife (Walker, Appendix 1). Around two hundred B.C., Romans seemed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Great Job By All Handling The Guests With Younger Children... Great Job What a phenominal message last week and even more, what a great job by all handling the guests with younger children. We had a record number of youth in the youth services and a record number of 1st time families. You made them feel welcome and you let them know in a loving way that the message was for adults. Sever parents chose to bring their children and young adults in to benefit fromhearing the message and we applaud this. So again, great job. Please remeber to stay aware for 1st time guests as the enter and to greet them as the enter the Sanctuary. I know it can be hard to focus on the guest with the incredilbe praise and worship band playing and it s especially hard when there is a message that we need to hear. This is why we highly encourage to worship at one service and serve at the other. This allows you to focus on getting fed and serving without sacrificing either. You are an amazing team and I am so honored to be serving with you. See you Sunday. Let this month of service be one of real joy as you serve the One you worship. It all begins with reflection. There are two parts to this: reflecting ON God and allowing the Spirit of God to work within us so that we become better reflections OF God. REFLECT on GOD: I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago I will meditate on all Your works and consider all your mighty deeds. (Psalm 77:11 12) You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Discrimination In The Movie Bullies Think of how different the world would be if we did not accept other s views. How would that affect us? Three creators thought about this topic and show how the world could be. They showed different situations through a movie, an article, and a court hearing. Without accepting other views violence and discrimination would be inevitable and could cause much worse problems. Today acceptance of views is practiced by a large majority of the population around the world. Opinions on people or objects should not be dependent on beliefs or contrast of views is a recurring message. Throughout the film Bullied directed by Bill Brummel, Jamie came out as a homosexual and the other boys did not like that. They physically hurt him by hitting, kicking and even peeing on him just because he was different. Many classmates at Ashland Middle School saw him as gay that was enough for some campus bullies (1:54 2:03). This statement shows the discrimination against Jamie just on the fact that he is different. Jamie was against the bullies because they ridiculed him. The bullies were against Jamie because he was gay. I just know that it hurt a lot to hear those words every day (2:11 2:13) said Jamie about being bullied every day. The quote by Jamie shows the difficult times and feelings not only him but all people can accumulate if discriminated against. By the end of the story, Jamie defended himself by putting a lawsuit, which he won, on the school system for failure to oblige to complaints from Jamie and his family. This film can show what some people go through in life without acceptance of differences. Again implying the severe importance of acceptance of differences. In the article Towards a True Refuge the author, Aung San Suu Kyi discusses problems we have we discrimination and how that affects immigration and communications with other countries. The greatest threats to global security today come not from the economic deficiencies of the poorest nations but from religious, racial (or tribal) and political dissensions (lines 4 6). Aung San Suu Kyi wrote this statement to say global security is merely a fear of differences in cultures. The nation is against immigrants and others because they did not feel safe around ... • 7. Standing Waves Lab This lab demonstrated qualities of standing waves with great help from a mechanical vibrator, a sine wave generator, and a piece of string. Through this lab we were able to understand how to calculate the speed of a wave on a string. A standing wave is defined as a wave that travels forward, then is reflected creating nodes (regions with minimal to zero energy). If the frequency of a standing wave is increased then more loops will be created, and because of that the wavelengths will be decreased. Throughout this experiment, transverse waves are generated. We know this because of the perpendicular movement of the string that creates crests and troughs. In this experiment we began by measuring the length and finding the mass of our string. Then, we tied the string to the wave driver and the pulled it over the pulley and attached a weight with a mass of 0.070 kg the then end of the string. Once we did that, we calculated our predictions for the frequencies of the various harmonics. After that we connected the wave driver to the sine wave generator and set the amplitude knob to the midway point. Then we searched for the correct frequency to find the first, second, and third harmonic. After we completed this, we tried the experiment two more times with 0.100 kg and 0.120 kg. One of the main points of this experiment was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After finding the speed we can predict what the smallest frequency is to create a standing wave. This is known as the first harmonic which is also known as the fundamental frequency. Throughout this experiment we place different weights on the end of the string, because of this different tensions are created and the speed is calculated differently. We do this in order to examine how the different tensions of the string can create different frequencies for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Vester Lee Flanagan Case A reporter and cameraman of WDBJ7 in Roanoke, Va., were shot and killed Wednesday during a live broadcast of the morning news. Vester Lee Flanagan II fired 17 shots from point blank range to kill Alison Parker, 24, and Adam Ward, 27, and injuring another woman before taking his own life later that day. Also, telephoto lenses are handy at compressing perspective. This is when the background of a photo appears to be closer to the subject than what is experienced with the naked eye. This is beneficial when you cannot physically move your subject closer to the background. You can also fill the frame of your photo by getting shots from a far distance. This will bring in objects further back into the frame, filling out the edges of your shot nicely. With this lens, you can isolate far away objects much better than with a wide angle lens. Various answers had been offered by many Christian philosophers and many victims of suffering, but there was not a lucid answer that could settle this argument permanently. God uses malicious acts of this world to rise up His own people and remind them that there is an opportunity that they can posses their eternal life. Literature, especially biblical literature has exploited this biblical nature to its fullest in various types of forms, including the play J.B. by Archibald MacLeish. On this particular day, the normal order of things is disrupted and the social standings of lower and upper social class members are reversed. The title is delightfully fitting for the play, as the storyline is comprised of comical disruption within the social decorum of Illyria. A notable act of deception in the play is seen when Maria and Sir Toby play a trick on the head servant, Malvolio. They are successful in misleading him to act strangely, which convinces everyone that he has gone mad. In the hopes of wooing his master Olivia, Malvolio starts behaving strangely. He begins to wear yellow stockings and smiles excessively; behaviours that are all uncharacteristic of his usual prude and stern self. The prank is extremely convincing, to the point that Maria describes his outlandish behaviour as a very renegade, for there is no Christian that means to be saved by believing rightly can ever believe such impossible passages of grossness, (3.2.66 69). Despite being the one who tricked Malvolio, Maria cannot believe what she is seeing and compares his behaviour as someone who has lost his Christian faith. Otherwise, she cannot simply believe that anyone in their right mind would believe the statements made in the fake love letters. Here, we see how a simple act of deception has disrupted normalcy as this character is supposedly going mad . In another scene, deception breeds chaos once again when Sir Toby encourages Sir Andrew to battle Cesario to win Olivia s heart. Despite the fact that neither party wanted to fight and was in fact terrified at the very idea, Sir Toby continues to cause conflict by stirring up an altercation that was nonexistent to begin with. To compound such deceptive actions, Viola s pretense as a pageboy creates further confusion when her brother Sebastian appears at the end of the play. The mistaken identity becomes troublesome when Antonio is arrested in front of Cesario and when Sebastian married Olivia. One of the main differences between astrology and astronomy is that astronomy is based off of research and facts, while astrology is based on the beliefs. Founded in Babylon, astrology uses planets and other celestial objects to try to predict the future. His works fell more into the category of apologetics than anything else, and he delved into Christian literature, science fiction, non fiction, as well as a host of other genres, but never claimed to be doctrine savvy. However In his classic work, Till We Have Faces (a retelling of the Greco Roman myth of Cupid and Psyche), C.S. Lewis explores and illustrates the complexities of the modern man s as well as his own divine search for God and justice. He does this by using the princess Orual s ardent questioning and denouncement of her own gods and the fervid, pursuant love that the god Cupid and the princess Psyche share as examples of the search for Christ that all of humanity must experience. A gentle discord between her mind and heart, even as a child Psyche feels she does not belong with the mortals around her. • 29. White Chicks Cultural Context Meagan Gosney Theological Foundations Dr. Mescher 17 October 2014 Theological Cultural Context Essay White Chicks the movie is a true example of popular culture that speaks to reflective and elusive topics involving race. White Chicks functions as a remarkable norm in terms of white privilege and the exploration of power. There was something about the messages and references in White Chicks that I just could not resist. White Chicks exposes Kevin and Marcus, partners in the FBI, men disguised as women to present a crucial discovery of race relations in modern times. The men are assigned to protect the prominently blonde and rich Wilson sisters, Brittany and Tiffany. After a minor car accident they end up impersonating them instead. Following ... Where the men masked as white women, attain a position of supremacy. In many cases, it is my opinion that whites simply do not perceive themselves as raced or marked. Regardless of the power, respect, and status that accompany the job of being and FBI agent, the film shines light on the race that marks them in an almost anonymous and invisible sense. For example, when they are sent to escort Brittany and Tiffany Wilson from the airport, Kevin and Marcus are reduced to stereotypes. As they greet the sister, Brittany says, We already gave to the United Negro fund (12: 25 28). Even in their initial attempt to explain that they are FBI agents, the sisters declare there is no need for communication, they have been assigned a meaning. As Kevin and Marcus clarify their purpose for being there, the sisters then immediately refer to them as chauffeurs, considering them subordinate. The Agents new mission is to carry the luggage and pack the car, Marcus is even forced to sit in the back of the car with the luggage, to make enough room for the dog. Inferring that the dog is more important. Baby got to ride in the car seat (12:50 53).This scene even alludes to American History when blacks were forced to sit in the back of a bus, affirming the idea that the dog trumps Marcus. Some general rules apply to the cost method including that for merchandise on hand at the beginning of the tax year, cost means the inventory price of the goods. Also, for any merchandise purchased during the year, cost means the invoice price less discounts plus freight and other charges occurred in acquiring the goods. For any merchandised produced during the year, cost means all direct and indirect costs that have to be capitalized under the uniform capitalization rules (UNICAP). Under UNICAP, you must capitalize the direct costs and partial indirect costs for production or resale activities subject to these rules. Rather than claiming these costs as a current deduction, you include them in the basis of property your produce or acquire for resale. You recover these costs through depreciation, amortization, or cost of goods sold when you use, sell, or dispose of the property. Under the lower of cost or market method, compare the market value of each item on hand on the inventory date with its cost and use the lower value of its inventory value. • 36. Plasmid Vs Ampicillin After analyzing the data recorded for both the agar plates containing ampicillin and those that did not, it can be concluded that the data provides enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis. There is enough evidence to support the alternative hypothesis stating that there is a correlation between plasmids coding for an antibiotic resistant gene and bacterial growth in ampicillin. When a bacterial solution containing either pUC18 or the lux plasmid is transformed in an agar plate containing ampicillin, only those cells which took in the plasmid are able to survive and replicate, forming individual colonies. Not all cells are transformed though, the chances of a successful transformation were extremely low. As expected the higher growth was seen in the E.coli cells growing outside ampicillin environments, this is because they grow freely with only minor risk, such as contamination. Possible errors in the experiment can have included the difference in the amount of liquid broth added to the E.coli sample that contained no plasmid and that which contained a plasmid. The sample containing no plasmid received half the amount of liquid broth (150µl) as that of the other two samples (300µl). Liquid broth can have incremented the growth in the plates containing plasmid twice as much as on the rest of the plates. Another artifact which can have affected the results was the time each solution spent in both the ice and hot water bath. Uneven sharing may have also taken place within the E.coli used for each plasmid leading to different amounts of colonial growth in the different agar plates used. More accurate results would have been possible if there had been more variation in both E.coli and plasmid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Innovative Approaches Of Resistance And The Reorganization... Through innovative approaches of resistance and the reorganization of the anti apartheid movement and the African National Congress, Nelson Mandela helped bring an end to apartheid, an oppressive form of government that promoted systematic segregation and institutionalized racism in South Africa. The Afrikaans word apartheid means separateness, and during the period of the apartheid, people were classified and separated into different racial groups where the civil and human rights of non whites were curtailed (Clark and Worger xxi). Although apartheid started in 1948, the roots of inequality were presented years before as a result of Dutch and British control. Both countries colonized South Africa in order to control South Africa s lucrative and, generally, untapped mining industry. South African workers, including the skilled and unskilled, were forsaken to work menial jobs and receive low wages (34). The establishment of many unfair laws allowed for the takeover to occur; these laws mark the beginning of apartheid and many more discriminatory regulations that were to come which include, but are not limited to, pass laws, laws that required non whites to have identification that showed their right to be in certain areas, and the exclusion of the non white vote (McCuen 17 18). Yann brings the book to life when he puts imagination into it. In the first section of the novel, the book covers Pi s childhood and how he majors in religious studies and zoology. In the second section of the novel, Pi s transition into a man and how he brings out the animal in him is what basically gets him and Richard Parker to survive for so long and not die. Pi does risky things in this section for example when he chooses to train Richard Parker rather than to kill him and kills baby sharks as well to eat them later on. Richard Parker becomes very important for Pi because Pi did not want to be left alone on the raft. In part three of the novel, two Japanese investigators visit Pi while he is in the hospital and Pi chooses to give his own story which gets the men kind of upset because they feel like he invents it up but he chooses to give them that story for a reason and the men did not seem to get why.
