Sports And Sports For Constructive Alternatives
This March, the Center for Constructive Alternatives series dealt with the topic of Sport and
Character. In today s age, sport and sporting events have become pinnacles of American
entertainment, money, and paparazzi. One is inundated with constant updates regarding football
scores, feuds between athletes, and controversy over refereeing. With sportbeing such a focus in
media and society, it often seems that sport and character are incompatible. Too often one sees an
athlete get caught using illegal performance enhancing drugs, having an affair, or lying and
cheating. Sport appears to be just like any other secular and commercial entertainment: decadent,
impaired, and ultimately characterless. This month s Center for Constructive... Show more content

Novak then criticized the current news and sports media of today. Upset at how the media were
currently portraying sports, he derided the journalists as amateur social scientists. Instead of trying
to pigeon hole sports into some social science or social experiment , sport should be seen as rituals
concerning human survival on this planet: liturgical enactments of animal perfection and the
struggles of the human spirit to prevail. As Mr. Novak showcased throughout his lecture, sport
captures the struggle of man throughout history. This struggle is personified through the linebacker
tackling the halfback, the pitcher recomposing himself after giving up a run, or a runner shaking off
cramping as she attempts to complete the marathon. Sports are the human experience.
Mr. Schilling s talk set a tone unlike any other. That night, he presented a striking case for why
character is influenced by sport. Drawing on his own personal experiences, Mr. Schilling said that
he has come to learn that you can only gain wisdom through experiences. The experiences through
sport that Mr. Schilling went through ultimately lead to the formation of the man that he is today.
Sport also provides example of and experience with good leadership. Mr. Schilling talked about
leadership, noting that while anyone can be a leader, there are very few leaders in the world.
Although Mr. Schilling had been present among

Southeast Team Master Plan Of Evaluation
Southeast Team Master Plan of Evaluation A master plan of evaluation serves to meet the
expectations standards of academia. The plan is designed to track and measure the success of the
planned outcomes and organized around an evaluation model and theory set by the program
designers (Keating, 2015). Furthermore, as a systematic and written document, the master plan is
usually based on evaluation frameworks, which guide the activities for gathering and analyzing
data. The plan provides the tools for continuous evaluation to identify successes and shortcomings
of the program (Ellis, 2016). In continuation, this paper will present the third part of the course
project outline for the Southeast region curriculum plan. The paper will focus on the evaluation
approach that will be used for Tampa General Hospital s (TGH) 2016 Hospital Consumer
Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Improvement Education for Bedside
Nurses Program. The paper will describe the selected curricular components to be evaluated,
demonstrate how The Three Cs Model will serve as its framework, explain chosen evaluation
strategies, and intentions to seek approval as a continuing education provider and conclude with the
basis for the Master Plan of Evaluation. Curriculum Component for Evaluation The five core
curriculum components will be evaluated during the execution, and outcome of the designed

tells me that it s his job. I don t think he sees that what he does isn t a random act of kindness. He

Why Is Lady Macbeth To Kill Duncan
Ladies and Gentlemen of the court, the evidence shows that Lady Macbeth compelled Macbeth to
murder King Duncan and set him down a path of crime and destruction. She is as much to blame
as Macbeth. The facts of the case are, Macbeth killed Duncan by his own hand, but he hired
assassins to commit the murders of Banquo and Fleance. At the beginning of Lady Macbethand
Macbeths marriage the people can see they act as equals, one does not outrank the other. As time
progresses her true colors start to seep through onto the surface. Lady Macbethportrayed herself as
power hungry, she will do anything and everything to deem the family name as dominant and
successful. Lady Macbeth brainwashed Macbeth into making him feel responsible for the death of
Duncan. He truly thought his fate was to murder Duncan and others in order to gain titles. She
mentally abused him by making him question his manhood. Lady Macbeth clearly said to Macbeth,

Advantages Of Turmeric
TURMERIC
Let s start by saying that we shouldn t consume only superfoods. Although these are nutrient
powerhouses packed with large doses of antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, and minerals, all
plant foods have a great amount of nutritional benefits. It is wise to include any and all super
foods in the diet; however, consuming a wide variety of all kinds of whole plant foods will provide
the body with the adequate nutritional balance.

While we know a lot about this wonder herb right now, but I do believe there is lot more in it
which is still unknown and unproved. Although Pakistan is a small producer of turmeric, yet it has
been exporting turmeric to neighboring countries. During 2001 2002, the country exported 1,340
tonnes of turmeric valued at Rs22.3 million. Due to increased demand for turmeric, the country had
to import turmeric during the period 2002 03 and 2003 04.
According to information available, research on turmeric is lacking in Pakistan, because of which
only indigenous varieties are cultivated. Research is needed to develop turmeric varieties that are
early maturing and high yielding to reduce its growing period of 9 10 months to six to eight
months. In order to make turmeric cultivation more remunerative, other short duration vegetable
crops can also be cultivated with turmeric to enhance better returns.
The area and production of turmeric fluctuate and the figures are more or less static. Being a
small crop producer with a long growing period of eight to 10 months, research is needed here to
evolve improved varieties to replace the indigenous varieties that are poor in yield, and take long

Maze Runner Research Paper
Maze Runner is about people (specifically males) being put into a maze not knowing how they
got there, trapped until they find a way out, in the maze there are these spider looking robots
called Grievers that try to kill them while they are in the maze. The maze has doors that move
around in it, so it changes up every night, and the runners only have certain times they can go in
because there s doors to enter the maze and it has certain times it open and closes. There s
different kinds of jobs they have to do while living there: like gardening, running, and building.
Gardening, to provide food and keep plants alive, running, to find a way out the maze, they map
the maze and figure out different ways to get out, and building, for shelter. The whole purpose
of these males being put in there is to be tested. You should watch this because it s a nice movie

Investigating Precision And Accuracy Of Experimental...
Comparing and Contrasting Liquid Volumes to Determine Precision and Accuracy of Experimental
Measurement
Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to compare and contrast liquid volume reading
values of different measuring devices, determining the precision and accuracy of experimental
measurement. This was done through use of a graduated cylinder, a serological pipette, and a
variable volume pipette.
In laboratories, many kinds of containers and devices are available for measuring liquid volume.
For example, graduated cylinders are used to approximate measurements, Serological Pipettes are
used to more precisely measure volumes, and variable volume pipettes measure liquids even more
accurately. [1] These containers are labeled with marks or values, normally along the sides, which
indicate the volume they may contain. The manufacturers place the labels through a method of
calibration. Since these containers and devices are all calibrated differently they all have distinct
tolerances for measurement accuracy.
Materials and Methods: The measuring devices used in this experiment are as follows: A Fisher
Scientific 25 mL graduated cylinder, a Greiner Bio one 10 mL serological pipette, a VWR
International 100 1000 mL variable volume pipette, a 20 mL scintillation vial, and a AWS 600
weight scale. This experiment consists of four methods, of measuring and weighing room
temperature water using the different devices, each method repeated five times. Method one is to

Kindergarten And Elementary School Teacher
Kindergarten and Elementary School Teacher
Imagine going to work every week day to be greeted by a group of young, wonderful children. As a
kindergarten and elementary school teacher, I would get to do that. Kindergarten and elementary
school teachers educate young children for their bright future. Kindergarten and elementary school
teachers are in the career cluster of education and training. Careers in education and training help
people in certain areas by teaching or instructing them. In this career, I would get to work with
children everyday, and prepare lessons and activities to help my students understand certain
concepts better. I love kids, so working with them would bring joy to my job. Also, I could easily
provide for myself with a teaching salary. When deciding whether kindergarten and elementary
school teacher is the best job for me, I looked at work environment, education and training,
important qualities, and salary and job outlook.
Work Environment The nature of work for kindergarten and elementary school teachers is
important to being successful. For example, kindergarten and elementary school teachers will work
in private or public schools. Kindergarten and elementary school teachers will transport themselves
to school, and work in their own classroom with a group of students. I would like this, because I
could decorate my classroom to connect to what I am teaching my students. Also, kindergarten and
elementary school teachers need to have a nice,

The Journey Is The Destination iIn Laurence Shames’ Sweet...
Throughout the life of any man or woman north London, there is an indescribable amount of
desire to be successful. Thoughts of Lamborghini s, Ferraris, or a home on an island too foreign

and becoming better in hopes of reaching the point where one can say I am a success . Success,
especially in north London, is not a fixed point rather it is a progression in constructing a lifelong

Similarly, in smaller communities who is known or how many one knows indicates success.
Reputation and status is prevalent on every scale of society and in history, how someone is known
when they are not present dictates all possible misconceptions. This is seen biblically in the book
of Ecclesiastes 7:1 where it reads A good name is better than precious ointment, and day of death
better than birth . This quotation explains that one must work ten times as hard to produce a proper
name than any material possession or luxury; this is most important in the sense that when one
passes on only their reputation lives on. In addition, a famous statement from Abraham Lincoln:
Character is like a tree and reputation a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it, but the tree is
the real thing . Lincoln makes the point that everything one does should be a reflection of character
to produce a transparency between who one is viewed as by friends and family, and who they truly
are. As one moves along in life, their reputation fluctuates, how their reputation results will assist in
determining the success they exhibited in life.
What do you do? Even though the answer should be simple one will concern themselves with
adding titles or an explanation in an attempt to say I am successful or to ensure their importance to
the community. Just like saying The car isn t

The explosion of the Sultana How is it possible that over 1,700 people could die and it not make

However, all nations have not equality health care service and reasonable cost. Canada

Canada Health Care System has been the subject of controversies compared to the United States

First, health care services will be monopolization to private enterprises. The government do not

Breakfast Club Character Analysis
Each teenager in the breakfast club has a social group that they belong to. Brian is involved in
many different stereotypes that belong to the school, One of the kids in detention with him
associates him with being a nerdy innocent kid who has a balanced family who treats him like a
baby. It was also assumed that he was nerdy because he said that he would write everyone s
essay. Brian also deals with peer pressure. He had to deal with peer pressure when he decided to
take part in smoking marijuana with the rest of the group. Claire in the movie was portrayed as
conceited because she is popular and looks down on those under her on the social hierarchy.
This shows that her behavior, internal thoughts, and her environment are all big factors that do
help contribute to her personality. Allison is known as the weirdo of the group. She also admits
to the group that she sees a shrink because she is compulsive liar. Andrew is the sporty person in
the group. He is a wrestler because his dad wants him to be as he does not want his son to be a
loser because he doesn t believe in having losers in his family. After smoking weed, he admits he
has been pressured to do wrestling and doesn t even like it or say anything in the matter. When
Brian talks about his suicide attempt after failing shop class, it might be the emotional high point
of the whole movie. It s the point at which the other kids stop seeing Brian as just some quirky

Analyzing Some of Anna Akhmatova s Poetry
Unassuming Exuberance
Anna Akhmatova lived from 1889 to 1966 during a dark, rough time in Russia. Everything is
Plundered, I Am Not One of Those Who Left the Land, and Midnight Verses are prime examples
of Akhmatova s symbolic literature. Akhmatova used poetry to help her overcome difficulties in
life; it was a way of expressing and setting her feelings free. All of Anna Akhmatovas poems
contain a common theme that connects to her real life: though life can be rough, it is important to
deal with problems and work towards acceptance. In Midnight Verses, the theme is dark and
tumultuous. This poem is a perfect reflection of Akhmatova s life. She faced many complications in
life, but she had to accept them because she did not want to give up on her home country. Likewise,
Akhmatova s poem has an unwilling acceptance at the end. Midnight Verses also displays her
thoughts in a very creative way. And the signal bells of light rhymes / Then I begin to understand
/ And the simply dictated lines / Lie down in the snow white notebook (Akhmatova 13 16).
Throughout Midnight Verses, Akhmatova uses powerful imagery, making it easy to relate to her
thoughts. Everything is Plundered is another of Akhmatova s poems that continues to illustrate this
theme. In Everything is Plundered, the theme of confusion and contrast in life is present. The
struggles in life are portrayed throughout the poem. This poem reflects humanity s imperfect

Same Sex Discrimination In America
Discrimination is the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from
other people or groups of people. This idea is old as mankind itself. Since the beginning of time,
people of a certain group have discriminated against people of the other races, beliefs, sexual
preferences, etc. Some examples of equal rights movements which have occurred in America
include the women s suffrage movement, the abolishment of slavery as well as all African American
civil rights movements, and most recently, the same sex marriage movement.
The discrimination behind same sex relationships has been around for thousands of years. In
America, the issue of equal rights for LGBTQ communities; an acronym representing lesbian, gay,

(Pickett). Plato believed that homosexuality made men unfit for marriage and went against nature.
He also recommended that if homosexual desires were acted upon. They should be kept a
secret. He also prescribed that if caught, homosexuals should be punished and have his/her civil
rights revoked. This discrimination evolved later and more firmly in the Judeo Christian beliefs
that marriage is the union of a man and a woman and that deviance from this is a mortal sin .
(Pickett). The first formal law against homosexuality was an imperial decree in 390 AD and was
posted in the Hall of Minerva; a gathering place for actors and writers. (Pickett). The punishment
for such acts was death by burning. This was believed to be passed because the homosexual men of
the imperial court were the most defiant of the Catholic doctrine. The idea was that a man who
lacked any interest in procreating wasn t actually a man but instead something of lesser importance.
The Catholic Church would continue to use this heresy as means to control.

The Melanesian Arc Of Papua New Guinea
The Melanesian arc initially formed from at least ca. 45 Ma, at which time the Pacific plate
subducted to the southwest beneath the Australian plate (Fig. 4) (e.g. Hall, 2002; Petterson et al.,
1999; Schellart et al., 2006). This subduction and arc development is one of the most poorly
understood elements of the southwest Pacific. The Melanesian arc comprised New Britain, New
Ireland and Bougainville of Papua New Guinea, much of the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji
(e.g. Abbott, 1995; Kroenke, 1984; Musgrave, 1990; Petterson et al., 1999). Since the time of arc
formation, however, these terranes have undergone complex tectonic reorganizations within the
southwest Pacific by multiple episodes of arc/forearc collision, subduction cessation and subsequent
subduction polarity reversal to displace and reorientate the fragments of arc basement (Hall, 2002;
Petterson et al., 1999; Schellart et al., 2006).
It is well understood that New Britain was previously part of the Melanesian arc where the
Pacific plate subducted to the southwest at the Melanesian trench (Fig. 1 and 4; Petterson et al.,
1999). However, the timing for initial arc formation is poorly constrained. The main body of New
Britain is composed of typical island arc magmatic rocks of Eocene and Oligocene age (Fig. 5).
The Baining Volcanics represent the initiation of arc magmatism at the convergent plate boundary
between the Australian and Pacific plates (Lindley, 2006; Madsen and Lindley, 1994), and

between layers of fabric and kept in place by lines of stitching, made to comfort and warm people
s body when they are a little chilly. Sewing is important because without the stitching, the fabrics
wouldn t be held in place correctly. Quilting can be also a big challenge because it is time
consuming, but it would all be worth it because a quiltcan last forever and also hold memories for a
lifetime. There are many important aspects to quilting and sewing, such... Show more content on

The wealthy people of that time were the only ones that could afford the expensive fabric that
was imported. The quilts displayed the fine needle work of the maker. During the 1800s in
many parts of the country, before a young woman got married and had a family, she would have
to make a baker s dozen of quilt tops. The engagement quilt collection had to consist of 12 utility
quilts, undoubtedly pieces and one great quilt for her bridal bed. After the engagement, she
would make the last step to turn her tops into finished quilts. In the early 1990 s, once again
became a popular hobby for many people. Quilting became popular because back then people
loved the quilting process and how the quilts turned out to be. Some of the handwork involved
in quilting was actually a relaxation for pioneer woman. It was also a relief from the drudgery
and family life on the frontier. Fine handwork was a source of pride and status. During the time
of the Great Depression, people were too poor, or so broke that they couldn t afford to buy
blankets, so mostly everyone relied on women s handy skills and resources to make blankets or
quilts to keep them and their family warm in the winter time. They used the left over pieces of
material from clothing, blankets, and feed sacks and used them for quilters when they couldn t buy
anything else. Between the 1970 s and the 1980 s, the granddaughters of the older women began to

Analysis Of In The Shadow Of The Banyan
1.5 to 3 million cambodians died in the Cambodian Genocide. These tragic events are shown in In
the Shadow of the Banyan by Vaddey Ratner. In this novel the reader is in the perspective of a
seven year old princess, Raami, as she lived through the genocide. As the Khmer Rouge a heartless
group destroyed Cambodia. The group Dehumanized people, took everything from it s citizens, and
split up families. As the Khmer Rougebegan their surge to make a single class society , they chose
to strip the citizens of every item they owned and all personal property they had. This is shown
when the family is at their country house called Mango Corner. three Khmer Rouge soldiers
burst into the house, waving their guns, shooting, and shouting , GET OUT! GET OUT!
(Ratner 51). Kicking the family out for no specific reason but to disrupt the family. Not even
making it clear where they really could go. They were lost like a stranded dog without a home.
This is seen once more moments later, Then his eyes caught the glint of Big Uncles watch
flashing in the sunlight. An omega Constellation...Off! The boy shouted. Big Uncle made no
move. TAKE IT OFF! The boy thundered. Finally Big Uncle lowered his arms, took the watch
off his wrist, and handed it to him. (Ratner 52). The soldier had no reason for taking the watch
from Big Uncle besides the fact that he could. This was shown again when Raami was at Ksach,

The Markov Chains Game
Markov Chains Game
Introduction
Probabilistic reasoning goes a long way in many popular board games. Abbott and Richey [1]
and Ash and Bishop [2] identify the most portable properties in Monopoly and Tan [3] derives
battle strategies for RISK. In RISK, the stochastic progress of a battle between two players over
any of the 42 countries can be described using a Markov Chain. Theory for Markov Chains can be
applied to address questions about the probabilities of victory and expected losses in battle.
Tan addresses two interesting questions:
If you attack a territory with your armies, what is the probability that you will capture this
territory? If you engage in a war, how many armies should you expect to lose depending on the
number of armies your opponent has on that territory?
A mistaken assumption of independence leads to the slight misspecication of the transition
probability matrix for the system, which leads to incorrect answers to these questions. Correct
speciation is accomplished here using enumerative techniques. The answers to the questions are
updated and recommended strategies are revised and expanded. Results and endings are presented
along with those from Tan s article for comparison.
The Markov Chain
The object for a player in RISK is to conquer the world by occupying all 42 countries, thereby
destroying all armies of the opponents. The rules to RISK are straight forward and many readers
may need no review. Newcomers are referred to Tan s article

Summary Of Submission By Amy Waldman
The attacks on the World Trade Centers on September 11th left the country a divided nation. A
majority seemed to fear anyone who looked different than what they claimed an American should
look like. In the novel the Submission written by Amy Waldman, we can see the feelings of
survivor families shift after they find out a United Statescitizen with loose ties to the Muslim
religion has won the memorial competition. From their perspective, it felt as if it were a defeat to
the whole purpose of the memorial. But from the winner s perspective, he just wanted to try and
bring the country together with a memorial that they could all appreciate. In a situation like this it

Shiva shanker chennoju
BA 632 Information Systems Security
Professor Dr. Jimmie Flores
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP):
Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol are two distinct computer network protocols.
A protocol is an agreed upon set of procedures and rules. When two computers follow the same
protocols the same set of rules they can understand each other and exchange data. Transmission
Control Protocol and Internet Protocol are so commonly used together, however, that Transmission
Control Protocol and Internet Protocol has become standard terminology for referring to this suite
of protocols.
Transmission Control Protocol divides a message or file into packets that are transmitted through
the internet and then re assembled when they reach their destination. Internet Protocol is
responsible for the address of each packet so it is sent into the correct destination.
Advantages of (TCP) :
A network is just a bunch of computers with wires running between them. Properly implemented, a
network is a system that provides its clients with unique capabilities, above and beyond what the
individual machines and their software applications can provide.
Most of the benefits of networking can be divided into two generic categories connectivity and

An Introduction To The Sanaetana Dharm Hinduism And Hinduism
Background Information
Hinduism is often referred to as SanДЃtana Dharma which means eternal religion. For many
Hindus, religion is a matter of practice rather than of beliefs. It s more what you do, than what you
believe. It is the world s third most popular religion with around 750 million followers. Hinduism is
practiced by more than 80% of India s population. There are an estimated 1 billion Hindus
worldwide, making Hinduism the third largest religion after Christianity and Islam. About 80
percent of India s population regard themselves as Hindus and 30 million more Hindus live outside
of India.
An Introduction to the Hindu religion
How and where it started.
Hinduism is older than any other living religion. It began so long ago that no one really knows
how old it is, but it is believe to be at least 5,000 years old.
India is the country in which Hinduism began. India is a country located in Asia, the capital city
there is New Delhi. There are some very high mountains (Mount Everest) on the northern border
of India called the Himalayas. India has a mixed climates . Some parts of the country become
extremely hot and others are cold. In India, the River Ganges is a scared river. People will often
travel hundreds of miles to bathe in the Ganges because they believe the water will make them pure.
Hinduism was not begun by a single person, it developed gradually as different groups of people
met and shared their ideas and ways of practising their beliefs. The name Hindu

Comparing Kierkegaard s Absolute Duty To God
Since, faith is the paradox whereby the single individual s inner ethical is higher than the outer
universal ethical, therefore the single individual preforms the absolute duty to God. When the
single individual carries out his absolute duty to God it can not be allowed to be interceded and thus
the absolute duty cannot be understood nor communicated in the universal. If there was the
possibility of faith being communicated than, this according to Kierkegaard would not be faith in
its true essence, but rather simply religious trial.
According to Hegelian philosophy, for one to exist as a single individual is to be seen as tranquil
and does not require much human morality, and because of this the universal is seen as a very
much courageous goal that all should strife for in their existence. However, SГёren Kierkegaard
further deliberates, that if a single individual is to truly live in absolute isolation (due to their
absolute duty to God and thus being the knight of faith), if that single individual as Kierkegaard
puts it, speaks and lives with fear and trembling, they would all know that to ... Show more content

To attain this truth, we must suppress our individuality and participate instead in the universal.
There is no private relation to God because we must forgo our privacy in order to come into
contact with God: as a result, we can only speak of God in the third person. Johannes seizes on this
point in suggesting that the knight of faith can speak to God in the second person singular.
Johannes suggests that the knight of faith has an intimate relation to God.
Johannes argues that the knight of faith acts in total isolation from everyone else. His relation to
God is a private one, and cannot be justified by an appeal to the universal. Though it is noble for
the single individual to aspire to the universal, God may call for actions that cannot be justified in

The Rise Of Nazi Germany Was The Capstone Of The Inter-War
The rise of Nazi Germany was the capstone of the inter war period, and led to the outbreak of
World War II, shattering the tenuous peace. The Nazi regime s progress was paralleled by the
life of its leader, Adolf Hitler. Born in a small town in Austria, Hitler dreamed of being an artist.
Unable to demonstrate sufficient artistic skill for entrance into the art academy in Vienna, he did
odd jobs and developed an interest in politics. In 1914, Hitler joined the German army, and
earned the iron cross for bravery as a message carrier. He was immensely disturbed by the
German defeat in World War I, and blamed the loss on the socialists and Jews, who he said had
surrendered the nation. In 1920, Hitler seized control in the German Workers... Show more content

On February 27, 1933, the Reichstag building burned down and a retarded Dutch boy claiming
he worked for the communists was arrested for arson. There is evidence to prove that the Nazis
themselves had set the fire, but in any case, Hitler used the incident to persuade Hindenburg to
restrict all individual rights and declare that the central government could oust any state
government failing to maintain order. Hitler systematically took control of all of the state
governments this way. Hitler s private army, the S.A., roamed the streets terrorizing political
opponents. Even so, the Nazis only won 43.9 percent of the vote in 1933. To gain a two thirds
majority Hitler formed an alliance with the Nationalist party, and declared the communist party
illegal. On March 23, 1933, the Reichstag passed the Enabling Act, giving Hitler the power to
make decrees with the status of law, and ending elections. When Hindenburg died in 1934, Hitler
fused the positions of chancellor and president into one office: Der Fuhrer. He took control as
dictator. Hitler constructed the Third Reich under his dictatorship, using the Gestapo, the secret
police, to stifle all dissent. There are many explanations for why Hitler was able to come to power
in Germany. The first focuses on the evil genius of Hitler himself. He was a master of
demagoguery, practicing his

An Imbalance Between Rich And Poor Is The Oldest And Most...
An imbalance between rich and poor is the oldest and most fatal ailment of all republics. Plutarch,
Greek historian Currently in the United States, there are over 16 million children growing up in
poverty. Children that live in poverty are more likely to be absent from school and have a higher
dropout rate than those who come from families with higher incomes. Children that live beneath the
povertyline are more likely to have learning disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral
problems. These are just a few disadvantages of the hundreds that children living in poverty deal
with on a day to day basis. There are ways to help these children in poverty, that is the extension of
the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 improvements to the Child Tax
Creditand the Earned Income Tax Credit. The extension of this effective policy will ensure that
parents and caregivers have the resources to support and nurture their children. The United States
fell into a recession in December 2007 and it was the greatest economic crisis since the Great
Depression. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was designed to help the economy
recover and get out of the recession. ARRA was specifically designed to help American families
and small businesses. The plan for this act was to redirect $260 billion in federal funding through
unemployment benefits, tax cuts and tax credits. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
was very successful and ended the recession

Procedural Due Process Analysis
Under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments, citizens are protected from national and state
governments denying them their life, liberty or property without due process of the law and have

Though the Supreme Court has refused multiple times to define due process conclusively saying

Vitro Fertilization ( Ivf ) Essay
Have you ever heard of an in vitro fertilization (IVF) ? Well, the term in vitro is Latin for in glass
.With IVF treatment, the egg is fertilized with sperm in a petri dish. Typically, many eggs are
retrieved from the biological mother (who may or may not be the intended parent), as not every
egg will fertilize, and not every fertilized egg will become a viable embryo. A few days after
fertilization, the best embryo or embryos are transferred to the mothers or surrogate s uterus via
a catheter through cervix. Any extra embryos may be cryopreserved (cooling them below the
freezing point of water) for future cycles. This method was pioneered by Robert G. Edwards, a
retired Professor of Human Reproduction at Cambridge University, was heralded as the Creator
of Modern Reproductive Medicine. He paired with Patrick Steptoe, a practicing Gynecologist at
Oldam General Hospital who pioneered the use of laparoscopy (a surgical procedure in which a
fiber optic instrument is inserted through the abdominal wall to view the organs in the abdomen or
to permit a surgical procedure) in gynecology. Their collaboration started in 1968 when Edwards
attended a lecture that Steptoe gave on laparoscopy at the Royal Society of Medicine in London.
Both achieved gracefully in fertilization and cell division of eggs in vitro in a petri dish with
freshly extracted semen, but were unable to successfully implant the fertilized egg into the female
uterus until 1978. They manipulated hormone levels in

The Concept of Postmodernism
CHAPTER 1 The concept of Postmodernism A Theoretical Approach It is a clichГ© by now to
say that we live in a postmodern world, and it is true that the word postmodern has become one of
the most used, and abused, words in the language. Still, it is striking that not many people can say
with assurance what this term actually means and involves. Some theorists suggest that
postmodernism refers to a mood or an attitude of mind, others define it as a literary, cultural, or
philosophic phenomenon. Either way, critics haven t agreed on a common definition for the
concept. Brian McHale points out that every critic constructs postmodernism in his or her own way

Since the work is preoccupied with the postmodern valences of contemporary dance, we shall move
on to the next layers of the discourse, concentrating on theoretical points of view which will serve
as a fundamental base for our analysis of contemporary dance. 1. 1. Postmodern Aspects of
Contemporary Dance When trying to subsume the postmodern features of contemporary dance,
Linda Hutcheon quotes Sally Banes: (...) in order to include, for instance, the sorts of things which
(under the influence, perhaps, of performance art) are considered postmodern in dance: irony,
playfulness, historical reference, the use of vernacular materials, the continuity of cultures, an
interest in process over product, breakdowns of boundaries between art forms and between art and
life, and new relationships between artist and audience (Banes 1985: 82).[x] In addition to these
aspects we could also enumerate other characteristics of contemporary postmodern dance such as:
identity politics, recontextualization, fragmentation, use of technology in performance, nostalgia.
Since the dance discourse came to resemble in many ways the fictional or narrative one, we
consider that terms such as parody, pastiche, intertextuality, are not only appropriate, but also
relevant for such a discussion. 1. 1. 1. Parodic and Ironic Discourse The concepts of parody and
irony are given special attention by Linda Hutcheon in The Politics of Postmodernism. She states

Questions On The Law Of International Peace And Security
Although article 16 of the ICC s statute provides for deferral, the deliberations of the Kenyan
deferral requests bring out critical legal issues and gaps that need to be addressed. Article 16 reads
as follows, No investigation or prosecution may be commenced or proceeded with under this Statute
for a period of 12 months after the Security Council, in a resolution adopted under Chapter VII of
the Charter of the United Nations has requested the Court to that effect; that request may be
renewed by the Council under the same conditions . This therefore means the major consideration
before a deferral is arrived at is whether an investigation or prosecution is a threat to international
peace and security or not. However, from the analysis of this study, the two deferrals by UNSC and
two non deferrals shows a different picture as the issue of the threat of international peace and
security was not extensively considered by the UNSC. In the Kenyan situation, there was an
attempt to examine whether its request met the threshold in article 16 but as noted by the Argentina
representative, this issue was not given proper attention. In fact, the representative stated that, her
delegation had abstained because it was the Council s duty to interpret strictly whether the trial
posed a threat to international peace and security, and Argentina did not think it did. By not
analysing whether the Kenyan situation was a threat to international peace and security and

Thomas Cleary translated The Art of War which was originally written by Sun Tzu. A mysterious
philosopher for more than two thousand years ago compiled this book by providing influential
strategy into the world today. Sun Tzu was known as military specialist active during the turbulent
late Chou dynasty and a Taoist philosopher. In this book, it reflects the warfare in China that
occurred over two thousand years ago. His views were as unsettling the enemy psychologically; his
goal is to force the enemy s leadership and society from a condition of harmony. Tzu also takes into
consideration the bankruptcy and social disintegration of the politically weak Chinese states of his
time. Throughout this passage, the reader will be describing the following topics on positional
strategy, expansion strategy, and situation response.

Chronic Insomnia
brain tumors or strokes (Epstein, p.249).
Chronic insomnia was revealed to be in direct relation to a neurochemical imbalance in 2008 that
makes it difficult for the brain to get ready for sleep. Someone who is affected for more than six
months has 30 percent less gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is chemically induced
throughout the brain to slow activity down (McKeever,2008). GABA is an inhibitory
neurotransmitter that helps regions of the brain shut down by reducing electrical activity
(Mehta,2008). This attributes to overactivity being present at not only the level of excessive
thoughts and emotions but at the nervous system as well (McKeever,2008). Hyperarousal is also a
neurobiological state of chronic insomnia and lower GABA levels are found in people with a major
depression disorder and anxiety disorders that both factor into disturbed sleep (health.com). To

and why this case is one of the most popular trials in the 20th century.
The crime:
What happened after ten o clock on the Sunday night of June 12, 1994 will forever be a mystery
when speaking about the murder case of Nicole Brown Simpson and her acquaintance Ronald

How Does Iago Succeed In Othello s Evil Deeds
In the play Othello, Iago is a character who carries out a revenge scheme out of jealousy. Many
can argue that Iago failed in his attempt, but Iago ultimately triumphs. Iago succeeds in his
revenge by skill using his proficiency in manipulation and nimble wittedness. So was Iago a
skillful person in duplicity, or was he in possession of an Irish lucky charm? Iagoweaves a web of
lies, carefully tightening the silk with his deception. Iago is able to lie with ease and trick his
victims because he is regarded as the Honest Iago and nobody has anything against him, except
Rodrigo later on in the play. In Act I Scene I, Iago reveals his hatred for Othellobecause of not

Genesis 25 Thesis
Genesis 25 is primarily written in prose, but God s words to Rebekah about her pregnancy
emphasize the importance of what he is saying to her and the fate of her sons. The poem reads,
Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples born of you shall be divided; the one shall be
stronger than the other, the elder shall serve the younger (Gen. 25:23). God has foretold that the
two brothers will have numerous descendants that are able to form two nations, but he doesn t
explain why they will be in conflict. As is common in the Bible the youngest son achieves
superiority over his elder brother. There is an odd choice of words in this poem though. By saying
that Esauwill serve Jacobit implies that he will forever be in his shadow, however they... Show more

Rereading it though he does have a point to be this way, Jacob received the best blessing from
his father and when begged to also get a blessing Isaac gave Esau a rather harsh and pitiful one.
What was said in Jacob s blessing was the complete opposite for Esau. The word serve is also
mentioned in this poem, Isaac is telling Esau you shall serve your brother (Gen. 27:40), but
there is no further evidence that ever supports this claim that he does serve Jacob, unless both
God and Isaac were not literally talking about the brothers but the two nations they establish.
Verse 40 also supports this idea with Isaac s phrasing of, and you shall serve your brother; but when
you break loose, you shall break his yoke from your neck. (Gen. 27:40), in Genesis 33 Esau and
Jacob meet again after several years and Esau forgives his brother for all that he has done to

Telecommuting Good For Business
Telecommuting is the future, and it gives freedom to the one who choose to work from home.
What is the effect of telecommuting? It is much more than having the freedom to be remote than
people come to realize. Research indicates employees and employers both save time and money.
Statistics proves telecommuting is a good business practice, but some might disagree. The other
advantages for telecommutingare significant. Our business industry is quickly changing daily, but
not everyone might be on board to choose to telecommute. The choice is strictly up to you if you
are a good fit if given the opportunity. So is telecommuting good for business? While
telecommuting has some challenges; it is still a positive business practice because growing trends...

It is ultimately up to the individual or the company on how they handle the situation at hand. Yes, it
is true telecommuting does have its challenges, but there are ways of making sure one does not
become a victim of feeling alone (Dahlstrom, 2013, p.445). One of the most concerning is isolation
according to Crandall (2005), A problem that many telecommuters report is isolation from work
culture (p.32). Having the right manager for this job can make all the difference in the world if not
it can cause a domino effect thus in turns creates an unproductive environment for everyone
involved. According to Dahlstrom (2013), These challenges are likely to impact affective job
responses, and can be influenced by managerial leadership behavior (p.441). Though telecommuting
has some challenges, it is the responsibility of management to ensure the success of the

Raising Money For The Fund
Raising money for the Rally for the Jimmy Fund over the last few weeks has been an eye
opening experience into both the world of fundraising for charity as well as in professional sales.
Getting out into the real world and applying skills from classroom that were still fresh in your
mind was a far better learning experience than weekly homework assignments. The Jimmy Fund is
a charity that does a great job branding and making its presence known so convincing people to
donate was less of telling them about the product and more getting them to open up their wallets
and actually make a donation. As the weeks progressed and we began to learn more and more

gaining statement with my personal donation link for them to send along to anyone they believed
would be willing to donate. The fourth week was where I focused more on my family members and
family friends, sending texts, personal emails, and making calls to people that would take the
time to donate. Finally, the fifth week was meant for follow ups as well as reaching out to a close
contacts that would put me over my goal of $601. I believe that this approach would let me find
out what worked and what didn t while still giving me time to reach my goal.
I chose the people that I requested donations from very carefully, I believed that it was important,
when it came down to it to have people that I truly believed would make a donation and focused
hard on them rather than sending spam emails to everyone I can asking for donations. My
immediate family was an easy choice, my mother loves volunteering and my father has a sales
career so they were an easy target for getting a donation, especially since raising a lot of money
gave me a better grade. After that I focused on family that work in business and had a lot of
connections who would want to donate to the cause, I have two cousins working at the startup

the largest organ in the body. It covers the whole body and is water resistant. There are two main

It varies in thickness depending on where it is located on the body, eg.it is thickest on the soles of

Cells are living. It is this layer that cells are made. They take about 28 30 days to move up from
here through the five layers of the epidermis before being shed.
This layer contains a pigment known as melanin. This pigment gives the skin its natural colour,
whehter red, yellow or black. Melanocytes are the cells that produce melanin.
*Section D i. continued
The dermis layer is connected to the blood and lymph supply as well as the nerves, unlike the
epidermis layer. The dermis contains sweat and sebaceous glands, hair follicles and many living
cells.
It is made of connective tissue, mainly areolar tissue which is tough and elastic, and contains white
collagen fibrous connective tissue and yellow elactic connective tissue otherwise known as elastin.
Collagen plumps the skin and elastin keeps it supple and elastic. Both of which diminish with age.
The dermis contains eight main types of structure:
1)Specialised cells
Fibroblasts: responsible for the production of areolar tissue, collagen and elastin. Fibroblasts can be
damaged by ultraviolet light.
Mast cells: produce histamine as an allergic response and heparin, an anti coagulant.

On the basis of symptoms experienced by schizophrenic people there are 5 subtypes of
schizophrenia namely: Paranoid, Catatonic, Disorganized, Undifferentiated and Residual (Barlow

Literature Review On Chinese Furniture Industry
LITERATURE REVIEW
China is leading as the largest furniture exporter in the world. The fast development of China s
furniture industry is the implementation of export led strategy which has been highly promoted.
Over the recent two decades China s furniture industry is winning the world s attention with its fast
development (Cao et al. 2004). The China s forestry industrial structure improvement attributes to
the advanced development and rationalization of the process (Yang and Nie 2011a). Chinese
government has promoted the implementation of export oriented strategy since the reform and
opening up in 1978 through encouraging foreign investment, by giving the chance to foreign
investors set up factories locally and exchanging market for capital or technology.
Research and Market 2006, as well as Virginia et al., 2003 concluded that Chinese furniture
manufacturing has made remarkable progress which is driven by the fast development of the
domestic economy, high foreign investment and a booming export business. It is therefore most
recognized that, the booming growth of China s furniture industry can be mainly associated to an
abundant work force and low costs (Cao et al. 2004, Cao and Hansen 2006, Han et al. 2009, Han
2010).
The Chinese furniture industry is affiliated to low labor cost as its primary important advantage.
On the other hand, evidence shows that there may be a labor shortage in qualified workers in
massively industrialized areas. In responding to the

Plot Summary of Remember the Titans Essays
Remember the Titans is a film from 2000 displaying a true story of a racially divided football
team from the 1970s. The movie highlights the relationships of the black and white people, and
how they learned to interact with each other in a time when this was not the way of life. It brings
up a number of questions throughout, of what is right and what is wrong, and really challenges
the characters, making it a very interesting movie to watch. I have seen this movie many times,
and each time I feel like I get something new out of it. It is a movie that can be used as a teaching
tool, it does a great job of interpreting not only what was happening in the United States of America
at that time, but social psychologyconcepts through real life... Show more content on

The text explains that, They may label each other as enemies, view their own group as morally
superior, draw the boundaries between themselves and their opponents more firmly, and, under
extreme conditions, may come to see the opposing group as not even human (Baron
Branscombe, 2012). I would not say that the characters in the movie took this idea as far as the
text explains, but there were many examples of this happening. The first example would be
between the coaches. Coach Boone was given Coach Yoast s coaching position, and offers him
an assistant position for the team. Coach Yoast accepts the position, only for his players, but
ensuring that his old assistant gets a job as well. Now that the teams have integrated, there really
is not enough room for all the coaches, and it seems like each group is looking out for their own.
Coach Boone also has his assistant working with him, so now this makes four different coaches
for T.C. William s football team. With all of this happening the two white coaches and the two
black coaches are not 100% getting along. They do not agree with one another s ideas and have
clear prejudices about one another, displaying the realistic conflict theory. They all want to be
doing the same thing but there were not enough spots, so they think negatively of each other and
often butt heads. This same idea moves onto the players. Each player, black and white, had their
spot on their old team where they were

This became their main source of income in the Chesapeake colonies. This would eventually merge

Both the Chesapeake colonies and the New England colonies had different social structure and
development. Because the colony was founded for gold the Chesapeake colony was primarily men
that could work. (Doc C.)The colonists of the Chesapeake even had to sign oaths of allegiances to
the Church of England. (Doc C.) The colony was under the rule of England and was to help support
England finically. When they arrived they even sign their own contracts such as the Articles of
Agreement, Springfield, Massachusetts, 1636. (Doc D.) This caused England to have a foothold in
their colonies, and then under them were Clergy, free white men, the few women, servants, and
slaves. The Chesapeake colonies had servants and slaves, servants could work their way of
servant hood, for example they might work seven years and then become free. The Chesapeake
colony also had slaves because its economy was based on cash crop plantations, most of these

Danny Zuko mainly cared about what people thought about him and his reputation. Though his

  • 2. Sports And Sports For Constructive Alternatives This March, the Center for Constructive Alternatives series dealt with the topic of Sport and Character. In today s age, sport and sporting events have become pinnacles of American entertainment, money, and paparazzi. One is inundated with constant updates regarding football scores, feuds between athletes, and controversy over refereeing. With sportbeing such a focus in media and society, it often seems that sport and character are incompatible. Too often one sees an athlete get caught using illegal performance enhancing drugs, having an affair, or lying and cheating. Sport appears to be just like any other secular and commercial entertainment: decadent, impaired, and ultimately characterless. This month s Center for Constructive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Novak then criticized the current news and sports media of today. Upset at how the media were currently portraying sports, he derided the journalists as amateur social scientists. Instead of trying to pigeon hole sports into some social science or social experiment , sport should be seen as rituals concerning human survival on this planet: liturgical enactments of animal perfection and the struggles of the human spirit to prevail. As Mr. Novak showcased throughout his lecture, sport captures the struggle of man throughout history. This struggle is personified through the linebacker tackling the halfback, the pitcher recomposing himself after giving up a run, or a runner shaking off cramping as she attempts to complete the marathon. Sports are the human experience. Mr. Schilling s talk set a tone unlike any other. That night, he presented a striking case for why character is influenced by sport. Drawing on his own personal experiences, Mr. Schilling said that he has come to learn that you can only gain wisdom through experiences. The experiences through sport that Mr. Schilling went through ultimately lead to the formation of the man that he is today. Sport also provides example of and experience with good leadership. Mr. Schilling talked about leadership, noting that while anyone can be a leader, there are very few leaders in the world. Although Mr. Schilling had been present among ... Why Is Lady Macbeth To Kill Duncan Ladies and Gentlemen of the court, the evidence shows that Lady Macbeth compelled Macbeth to murder King Duncan and set him down a path of crime and destruction. She is as much to blame as Macbeth. The facts of the case are, Macbeth killed Duncan by his own hand, but he hired assassins to commit the murders of Banquo and Fleance. At the beginning of Lady Macbethand Macbeths marriage the people can see they act as equals, one does not outrank the other. As time progresses her true colors start to seep through onto the surface. Lady Macbethportrayed herself as power hungry, she will do anything and everything to deem the family name as dominant and successful. While we know a lot about this wonder herb right now, but I do believe there is lot more in it which is still unknown and unproved. Although Pakistan is a small producer of turmeric, yet it has been exporting turmeric to neighboring countries. During 2001 2002, the country exported 1,340 tonnes of turmeric valued at Rs22.3 million. Due to increased demand for turmeric, the country had to import turmeric during the period 2002 03 and 2003 04. According to information available, research on turmeric is lacking in Pakistan, because of which only indigenous varieties are cultivated. Research is needed to develop turmeric varieties that are early maturing and high yielding to reduce its growing period of 9 10 months to six to eight months. In order to make turmeric cultivation more remunerative, other short duration vegetable crops can also be cultivated with turmeric to enhance better returns. The area and production of turmeric fluctuate and the figures are more or less static. Being a small crop producer with a long growing period of eight to 10 months, research is needed here to evolve improved varieties to replace the indigenous varieties that are poor in yield, and take long time to ... Comparing and Contrasting Liquid Volumes to Determine Precision and Accuracy of Experimental Measurement Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to compare and contrast liquid volume reading values of different measuring devices, determining the precision and accuracy of experimental measurement. This was done through use of a graduated cylinder, a serological pipette, and a variable volume pipette. In laboratories, many kinds of containers and devices are available for measuring liquid volume. For example, graduated cylinders are used to approximate measurements, Serological Pipettes are used to more precisely measure volumes, and variable volume pipettes measure liquids even more accurately. [1] These containers are labeled with marks or values, normally along the sides, which indicate the volume they may contain. The manufacturers place the labels through a method of calibration. Since these containers and devices are all calibrated differently they all have distinct tolerances for measurement accuracy. Materials and Methods: The measuring devices used in this experiment are as follows: A Fisher Scientific 25 mL graduated cylinder, a Greiner Bio one 10 mL serological pipette, a VWR International 100 1000 mL variable volume pipette, a 20 mL scintillation vial, and a AWS 600 weight scale. This quotation explains that one must work ten times as hard to produce a proper name than any material possession or luxury; this is most important in the sense that when one passes on only their reputation lives on. In addition, a famous statement from Abraham Lincoln: Character is like a tree and reputation a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it, but the tree is the real thing . Lincoln makes the point that everything one does should be a reflection of character to produce a transparency between who one is viewed as by friends and family, and who they truly are. As one moves along in life, their reputation fluctuates, how their reputation results will assist in determining the success they exhibited in life. What do you do? Everything is Plundered, I Am Not One of Those Who Left the Land, and Midnight Verses are prime examples of Akhmatova s symbolic literature. Akhmatova used poetry to help her overcome difficulties in life; it was a way of expressing and setting her feelings free. All of Anna Akhmatovas poems contain a common theme that connects to her real life: though life can be rough, it is important to deal with problems and work towards acceptance. In Midnight Verses, the theme is dark and tumultuous. This poem is a perfect reflection of Akhmatova s life. She faced many complications in life, but she had to accept them because she did not want to give up on her home country. Likewise, Akhmatova s poem has an unwilling acceptance at the end. Midnight Verses also displays her thoughts in a very creative way. And the signal bells of light rhymes / Then I begin to understand / And the simply dictated lines / Lie down in the snow white notebook (Akhmatova 13 16). The first formal law against homosexuality was an imperial decree in 390 AD and was posted in the Hall of Minerva; a gathering place for actors and writers. (Pickett). The punishment for such acts was death by burning. This was believed to be passed because the homosexual men of the imperial court were the most defiant of the Catholic doctrine. • 20. The Melanesian Arc Of Papua New Guinea The Melanesian arc initially formed from at least ca. 45 Ma, at which time the Pacific plate subducted to the southwest beneath the Australian plate (Fig. 4) (e.g. Hall, 2002; Petterson et al., 1999; Schellart et al., 2006). This subduction and arc development is one of the most poorly understood elements of the southwest Pacific. The Melanesian arc comprised New Britain, New Ireland and Bougainville of Papua New Guinea, much of the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji (e.g. Abbott, 1995; Kroenke, 1984; Musgrave, 1990; Petterson et al., 1999). Since the time of arc formation, however, these terranes have undergone complex tectonic reorganizations within the southwest Pacific by multiple episodes of arc/forearc collision, subduction cessation and subsequent subduction polarity reversal to displace and reorientate the fragments of arc basement (Hall, 2002; Petterson et al., 1999; Schellart et al., 2006). It is well understood that New Britain was previously part of the Melanesian arc where the Pacific plate subducted to the southwest at the Melanesian trench (Fig. 1 and 4; Petterson et al., 1999). However, the timing for initial arc formation is poorly constrained. The main body of New Britain is composed of typical island arc magmatic rocks of Eocene and Oligocene age (Fig. 5). The Baining Volcanics represent the initiation of arc magmatism at the convergent plate boundary between the Australian and Pacific plates (Lindley, 2006; Madsen and Lindley, 1994), and deposited between ... • 24. The Markov Chains Game Markov Chains Game Introduction Probabilistic reasoning goes a long way in many popular board games. Abbott and Richey [1] and Ash and Bishop [2] identify the most portable properties in Monopoly and Tan [3] derives battle strategies for RISK. In RISK, the stochastic progress of a battle between two players over any of the 42 countries can be described using a Markov Chain. Theory for Markov Chains can be applied to address questions about the probabilities of victory and expected losses in battle. Tan addresses two interesting questions: If you attack a territory with your armies, what is the probability that you will capture this territory? If you engage in a war, how many armies should you expect to lose depending on the number of armies your opponent has on that territory? A mistaken assumption of independence leads to the slight misspecication of the transition probability matrix for the system, which leads to incorrect answers to these questions. Correct speciation is accomplished here using enumerative techniques. The answers to the questions are updated and recommended strategies are revised and expanded. Results and endings are presented along with those from Tan s article for comparison. The Markov Chain The object for a player in RISK is to conquer the world by occupying all 42 countries, thereby destroying all armies of the opponents. The rules to RISK are straight forward and many readers may need no review. Newcomers are referred to Tan s article ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Comparing Kierkegaard s Absolute Duty To God Since, faith is the paradox whereby the single individual s inner ethical is higher than the outer universal ethical, therefore the single individual preforms the absolute duty to God. When the single individual carries out his absolute duty to God it can not be allowed to be interceded and thus the absolute duty cannot be understood nor communicated in the universal. If there was the possibility of faith being communicated than, this according to Kierkegaard would not be faith in its true essence, but rather simply religious trial. According to Hegelian philosophy, for one to exist as a single individual is to be seen as tranquil and does not require much human morality, and because of this the universal is seen as a very much courageous goal that all should strife for in their existence. However, SГёren Kierkegaard further deliberates, that if a single individual is to truly live in absolute isolation (due to their absolute duty to God and thus being the knight of faith), if that single individual as Kierkegaard puts it, speaks and lives with fear and trembling, they would all know that to ... Edwards, a retired Professor of Human Reproduction at Cambridge University, was heralded as the Creator of Modern Reproductive Medicine. He paired with Patrick Steptoe, a practicing Gynecologist at Oldam General Hospital who pioneered the use of laparoscopy (a surgical procedure in which a fiber optic instrument is inserted through the abdominal wall to view the organs in the abdomen or to permit a surgical procedure) in gynecology. Their collaboration started in 1968 when Edwards attended a lecture that Steptoe gave on laparoscopy at the Royal Society of Medicine in London. • 35. The Concept of Postmodernism CHAPTER 1 The concept of Postmodernism A Theoretical Approach It is a clichГ© by now to say that we live in a postmodern world, and it is true that the word postmodern has become one of the most used, and abused, words in the language. Still, it is striking that not many people can say with assurance what this term actually means and involves. Some theorists suggest that postmodernism refers to a mood or an attitude of mind, others define it as a literary, cultural, or philosophic phenomenon. Either way, critics haven t agreed on a common definition for the concept. Brian McHale points out that every critic constructs postmodernism in his or her own way from different perspectives, none more right or wrong... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since the work is preoccupied with the postmodern valences of contemporary dance, we shall move on to the next layers of the discourse, concentrating on theoretical points of view which will serve as a fundamental base for our analysis of contemporary dance. 1. 1. Postmodern Aspects of Contemporary Dance When trying to subsume the postmodern features of contemporary dance, Linda Hutcheon quotes Sally Banes: (...) in order to include, for instance, the sorts of things which (under the influence, perhaps, of performance art) are considered postmodern in dance: irony, playfulness, historical reference, the use of vernacular materials, the continuity of cultures, an interest in process over product, breakdowns of boundaries between art forms and between art and life, and new relationships between artist and audience (Banes 1985: 82).[x] In addition to these aspects we could also enumerate other characteristics of contemporary postmodern dance such as: identity politics, recontextualization, fragmentation, use of technology in performance, nostalgia. Since the dance discourse came to resemble in many ways the fictional or narrative one, we consider that terms such as parody, pastiche, intertextuality, are not only appropriate, but also relevant for such a discussion. 1. 1. 1. Army Regulation 600 8 22 (Military Awards) states the Air Medal is awarded in time of war for heroism and for meritorious achievement or service while participating in aerial flight. • 38. Questions On The Law Of International Peace And Security Although article 16 of the ICC s statute provides for deferral, the deliberations of the Kenyan deferral requests bring out critical legal issues and gaps that need to be addressed. Article 16 reads as follows, No investigation or prosecution may be commenced or proceeded with under this Statute for a period of 12 months after the Security Council, in a resolution adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations has requested the Court to that effect; that request may be renewed by the Council under the same conditions . This therefore means the major consideration before a deferral is arrived at is whether an investigation or prosecution is a threat to international peace and security or not. However, from the analysis of this study, the two deferrals by UNSC and two non deferrals shows a different picture as the issue of the threat of international peace and security was not extensively considered by the UNSC. In the Kenyan situation, there was an attempt to examine whether its request met the threshold in article 16 but as noted by the Argentina representative, this issue was not given proper attention. In fact, the representative stated that, her delegation had abstained because it was the Council s duty to interpret strictly whether the trial posed a threat to international peace and security, and Argentina did not think it did. • 42. Chronic Insomnia brain tumors or strokes (Epstein, p.249). Chronic insomnia was revealed to be in direct relation to a neurochemical imbalance in 2008 that makes it difficult for the brain to get ready for sleep. Someone who is affected for more than six months has 30 percent less gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is chemically induced throughout the brain to slow activity down (McKeever,2008). GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps regions of the brain shut down by reducing electrical activity (Mehta,2008). This attributes to overactivity being present at not only the level of excessive thoughts and emotions but at the nervous system as well (McKeever,2008). The fast development of China s furniture industry is the implementation of export led strategy which has been highly promoted. Over the recent two decades China s furniture industry is winning the world s attention with its fast development (Cao et al. 2004). The China s forestry industrial structure improvement attributes to the advanced development and rationalization of the process (Yang and Nie 2011a). Chinese government has promoted the implementation of export oriented strategy since the reform and opening up in 1978 through encouraging foreign investment, by giving the chance to foreign investors set up factories locally and exchanging market for capital or technology. Research and Market 2006, as well as Virginia et al., 2003 concluded that Chinese furniture manufacturing has made remarkable progress which is driven by the fast development of the domestic economy, high foreign investment and a booming export business. It is therefore most recognized that, the booming growth of China s furniture industry can be mainly associated to an abundant work force and low costs (Cao et al. 2004, Cao and Hansen 2006, Han et al. 2009, Han 2010). Coach Boone also has his assistant working with him, so now this makes four different coaches for T.C. William s football team. With all of this happening the two white coaches and the two black coaches are not 100% getting along. They do not agree with one another s ideas and have clear prejudices about one another, displaying the realistic conflict theory. They all want to be doing the same thing but there were not enough spots, so they think negatively of each other and often butt heads. This same idea moves onto the players. Each player, black and white, had their spot on their old team where they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Rod Ahs Case Study Rod ahs returned six months since the last appointment. Up until a month ago, Rod has been quite stable. During that time, he has been aware of increased breathlessness, but no real cough or fevers. He does not recall any upper respiratory tract infective symptoms. He had three days of prednisolone a few weeks ago without any improvement and a couple of days ago completed ten days of ciprofloxacin and feels slightly better. Thank you for arranging a CT chest scan that reveals extensive emphysematous change with lower zone bronchiectasis but no active infective changes. I gather Rod has also had a stress echocardiogram, the results of which were not available today. At rest, oxygen saturation was 94% and chest auscultation was notable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Danny Zuko mainly cared about what people thought about him and his reputation. Though his style is like he s cruising for a bruisin. What i like about Betty Rizzo is that she doesn t care of what people think about her, but what I don t like is that she acts like a spoiled little girl who always wants it her way. I like that Kenickie is a greaser type a guy and what I don t like is that he sometimes tries to act like Danny. What I like about Frenchy is that she is full of joy, but it s when she really acts like an airhead that I don t like. What I like about Leo Balmudo is that he has a nice car, but that he is against the T Birds. What I mainly like about the story line is that Danny and Sandy fall in love and they try to change themselves to fit into each other s lifestyles. Plus how the music fit in well with it too. What I don t like about the story line is that it s cliche and predictable. The time zone it was based off of is that it was in the 50 s and I like that it was based off the 50 s because it gives out that it could be a classic.
