Woman At Point Zero and The Metamorphosis
Thesis Statement: The absence of mother in the protagonist s life in Woman At Point Zero and The
Metamorphosis contributes greatly to their alienation.
All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my Mother Abraham Lincoln. 1 Alienation: a
withdrawing or separation of a person, or a person s affections from an object or position of
former attachment4. Alienation is a key theme present in Woman at Point Zero2 and The
Metamorphosis3 by Nawaal El Saadawi and Franz Kafka respectively which is approached in
different ways. With the use of diction, imagery, contrast and symbolism, this is greatly seen
through the unusual bonds that Firdaus and Gregor share with their mothers throughout their lives.
Gregor from The Metamorphosis was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, when Gregor finally shows himself to the clerk and his family, she looked first with
hands clasped at his father, then took two steps toward Gregor and sank to the floor.. (87) The
imagery used here conveys the hostile and distant treatment Gregor receives from his family. The
connotation of the phrase sank to the floor is that of an emotional rejection and portrays how Mrs.
Samsa tries to run away from her son s reality. Through the contrast and imagery it is seen that
Gregor is no longer associated with his mother, who is firm on isolating herself from him. This
denial affects Gregor directly which explains why he underwent an alienation process.
Despite the fact that Gregor s mother could not bear to physically interact with him, she has
hopes of her son s comeback. When Grete suggests that the furniture be removed from his room,
she think[s] the best thing would be if we tried to keep his room exactly as it was before, so that
when he returns, he ll find everything unchanged, and he can forget what s happened (103). The
connotation of the words unchanged , returns and forget what s happened , suggests how she is
under the delusion that Gregor will come back. She does not readily want to accept the fact that
anything had happened to her dear son. She was, after all, his mother. In comparison to Firdaus it
can certainly be seen that he shared a strong relationship

Occlusal Sealing Essay
Introduction: ‎
‎ Although the prevalence of dental caries has decreased worldwide, the incidence ‎of
dental caries on the occlusal surface of posterior teeth is still increasing (2). It ‎represents 90%
of the carious lesion occurring in the oral cavity (3). This may be related to ‎natural anatomy of
pits and fissures providing protective sh sites for food entrapment and ‎bacterial development.
This means that the tooth brushing which is the gold standard of ‎proper oral hygiene measure
will not be able to prevent development of occlusal caries. ‎

Essay about The Potential Effects of Discrimination
Task 3 P3 The potential effects of discrimination
There are lots of potential effects related to discrimination. It includes things like disempowerment,
low self esteem and self identity and also marginalisation. I am now going to explain these effects
and connect them with a case study.
Disempowerment is when a person or group of people may be made to feel less powerful or
confident. Some people may try to fight against the discrimination causing an argument but many
people do not and they lose the will to fight against it. As a result of this type of discrimination,
they may then become depressed and feel devalued as well as disempowered. This could lead to
health issues and may lead to them taking tablets which would make them more ... Show more

This means they do not trust health and social care workers and organisations to be looking after
and supporting them.
All types of discrimination can also lead to negative behaviour and can partly cause aggression or
crime; even living in poverty and experiencing discrimination can affect an individual s behaviour
as well. Due to the negligence they may take out their frustration on the care providers or others in
the society which would make them in the wrong and after being investigated this may or may not
change because of the client s self esteem or pressure levels. As well as taking it out on the care
providers, they are also able to take it out on health and social care professionals.

A retired teacher, Betty (65 years old), was diagnosed with Dementia. She lived at home with her
husband Arthur (70 years old) who had been caring for her for several years. When she was
diagnosed, No information was given to the couple. They had no relatives that they could rely on
around them for support.
Betty had a fall a few weeks after her diagnoses. It took a fall and an admission to hospital for the
health and social care team to realise they were struggling. Finally, workers involved Betty and
Arthur fully in giving information about Betty s condition and possible sources of help e.g. meals
on wheels, luncheon club, day care etc. This enabled Betty to be fully included in as plan of care

Influence Of Multichannel Selling Strategies Towards...
Title Influence of Multichannel Selling Strategies Towards Consumer Buying Behaviour
Introduction The research dissertation that is proposed throughout this paper brings an indication
towards the topic of multichannel enhancement. The topic has seen a major shift in how consumers
are using the multichannel environment to purchase more and more than ever before (Jones,
2013). The retail environment has evolved with this consumer shift, in becoming more dynamic
towards the customer s needs and creating a more customised channel (Whitler, 2016). A personal
interest comes towards this topic from my involvement in retail over the past five years,
experiencing this retail evolvement first hand. Literature Review The developed definition of the
use of multichannel in the retail market has been branded towards the opening of multiple channels
to communicate towards the customer (Zhang et al., 2010). The importance of multichannel selling
strategies has significantly grown with the rise of new business channels emerging into the market
(Stojković et al., 2016). In view of this growth, a dominant approach of retailers combining
classical (store) channels and electronic (website) channels has shown extensive successes for most
of the world s leading retailers (Stojković et al., 2016). In addition to this potential success for the
retailer, the benefits can also be passed onto the customer, which will be discussed, then simply
using the selling strategy to communicate with the

Beginnings
Clay, named after his father and Kentucky abolitionist Cassius M. Clay, was born in Louisville,
Kentucky. At age 12, he had his bicycle stolen, and reported the fact to a local policeman (and
boxing trainer), Joe Martin. Martin suggested that Clay learn to fight; under his guidance, Clay
rapidly advanced through the youth ranks. A low achiever academically, Clay won six Kentucky
Gold Gloves while at high school and was allowed to graduate despite his poor grades. Presciently,
his principal announced during a staff meeting about the issue that Clay would someday be
quot;this school s claim to fame. quot; Clay later joked about his lackluster academic record saying,

Misreading Clay s exuberance as nervousness, Liston was over confident and unprepared for any
result but a quick stoppage. In the opening rounds, Clay s speed, greater even than his idols,
Sugar Ray Robinson and Archie Moore, kept him away from Liston s powerful head and body
shots, as he used his height and reach advantage to effectively counterpunch with the jab. As
early as the third round, Liston began to visibly tire, and Clay took full advantage, landing
several heavy punches. By the third, Clay was clearly on top and had opened a large cut under
Liston s eye. Liston regained some ground in the fourth, as Clay was blinded by a foreign
substance. It is unknown whether this was something used to close Liston s cuts or applied to
Liston s gloves for a nefarious purpose. Partially sighted, Clay was able to keep out of range, and
by the fifth and into the sixth, he was looking for a finish. That came before the seventh, when
Liston retired on his stool, later claiming his shoulder had become dislocated. Clay leapt out of his
corner, proclaiming himself quot;King of the World quot; and demanding the writers eat their words.
Clay was duly crowned the heavyweight champion of the world. He would reconfirm his abilities
when he knocked out Liston in the first round of their rematch in Lewiston, Maine on May 25,
1965, albeit controversially, as few observers saw the quot;phantom punch quot; that

Communication As A Nurse
As a current nursing student, the book Fundamentals of Nursing will enhance my career by helping
me implement good communication skills and understanding spiritual health.
Chapter 24 that discusses communication and chapter 36 that discusses spiritual health are the
chapters that helped me in writing this report.
It is factual that effective communication skills and competency are needed upon achieving a
profession as a nurse. Upon first greeting a patient the distinctive level of communication is
apparent. Communication has two core factors, non verbal and verbal. Both types of
communication will be implemented on a regular basis as I interact with patients in my nursing

I now understand that spirituality represents for numerous people a critical element that solidifies
their belief in God. Showcasing spirituality through common practices, via good service to others,
passing on wisdom, or showing compassion, usually brings deep intimate satisfactions. From my
reading and comprehension, as I will concentrate on creating a secure, wholesome and warm
environment for the patients in my care. I understand that the nurses function is to feel and capture
the imbalance that is present, and to get rid of the barricades in the patients recovery process.
Spiritual care should be a positive and delicate approach, on the basis of trust and a terrific
comfortable relationship between the patient and nurse in an effort to deliver quality care.
Holistic care focuses on the emotional, physical, economic, social and spiritual needs of individual
people. Patient care has an important goal which is obtaining and maintaining the equality between
mind, body and environment, as this balance is important for a fulfilling life.
In closing, this textbook has fundamentally taught me that Nurses play an important role in the
health care profession helping and caring for individuals, or whole families and it has many
important elements which are needed to ensure a great quality of

Why Rumor Is Defined By The New York Stock Exchange
Rumor is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an unverified or unconfirmed statement or
report circulating in a community. In the financial community, rumors have an effect on the
direction of markets. The New York Stock Exchange in the United States is the epitome of how
rumors can impact trade. The fluctuation of stockand commodity (raw material) prices on a daily
basis is, in part, due to the daily news cycle. Although reports by news companies are supposed to
be factual, statements made can be unverified. Because of the large scale of social media, anyone
can make up rumors that can go viral. Stock traders rely on the news to determine what stocks they
will buy or sell. News reports include important information such as: new product developments,
company restructures, commodity reports, and scandals. Because of the rapid news, trading on the
stock markethappens very fast and it gets chaotic. As the buyers and sellers interact their process
sets the stock price. The news effects the stock price because if a positive story circulates, there
will be more buyers for a stock, which will raise the stock price; if a negative story circulates,
there will be fewer buyers, which will lower the stock price. This constant process can either earn
a big payday or be a total loss. Because of the money that people stand to either make or loose,
rumors have an effect on the way individuals behave on the stock market.
To better understand how rumors work within the financial

The State Of New Mexico Essay
The state of New Mexico defines murder in the first degree as the killing of one person by
another without a lawful justification or excuse. Any action resulting in death, which can be
proven to have been willful, deliberate and premeditated; committed during the commission or
attempt to commit a felony; or by an act so dangerous to the lives of others that it indicates a
depraved mind and disregard for human life, is a capital felony (NM Stat В§ 30 2 1). Currently,
capital felonies are subject to a sentence of life imprisonment, or a true life imprisonment
sentence which provides no option for release or parole (NM Stat В§ 31 18 14). However, from
1979 to 2009, New Mexico carried a harsher set of punishments for first degree murder; life in
prison with the possibility of parole, or the death penalty.
Terry Clark was the only prisoner on death row to be executed before the penalty repeal in 2009.
In 1987, a jury found Clark guilty after hearing gruesome testimony that he abducted, raped, and
shot his young victim three times in the head before he buried her body in a shallow grave on his
brother s ranch. Unsurprisingly, Clark filed an appeal with the New Mexico Supreme Court after
the lower court s ruling and sentencing. In State v. Clark, 772 P.2d 322 (1989), the court carefully
considered Clarks many claims of trial misconduct.
Clark originally entered a guilty plea after his defense counsel informed him that his death sentence
might be commuted by then governor, Toney

Pros And Cons Of Living In A Dystopian Society
Introduction
Utopias and dystopias are both literary genres that explore the social and political
structures of a specific society.
A utopia is a perfect world or paradise. It is an imaginary place where there is no poverty,
disease, discrimination or war. Utopias consist of peaceful governments that have ideal economic
and social conditions. All citizens are equal, there is access to education, and healthcare, and the
environment is safe for all that live there.
A dystopia is the opposite of utopia; it is an imperfect world where things have gone
wrong. In a dystopian world people are usually controlled by an oppressive government. The
government uses lies and propaganda to control the minds of the citizens. Many things are ... Show

finds himself hijacked and whisked away to paradise: Shangri La, a place where the air is clean
and the living is natural and spiritual and, moderate. Shangri La is a place where people live
naturally long lives, hundreds of years, in peace, in love, and at one with nature. The defining
characteristic is inner peace, love, and a sense of purpose for those that can find it.
Another example of a utopia is The Giver by Lois Lowery. The Giver is the story of a
boy named Jonas that lives in a community that has converted to Sameness. In order to preserve
structure and order, things like color, climate, and memory, have been eradicated. Jonas is the
one person that has been chosen to store all the memories from the past, of the time before
Sameness. Jonas experiences a multitude of new thoughts, feelings and experiences as the
Receiver of Memory and he has to decide what to do with his new found knowledge. The
defining characteristic is that everyone is equal.
An example of a dystopia is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games
is a dystopia that is set in the country of Panem. Panem consists of citizens that live in

Neil Hughes grew up in Liverpool with his mother and father. He was a cheerful and active
child, who was very talkative and appeared to be the most joyful and comical of all the children

and psychological factors, it becomes apparent that his life was not a typical one, veering away
from any standard timeline and lacking any amount of stability. From a broad overview, Neil s

of his life still had a degree of normality. At seven, Neil was very active... Show more content on

life normative; he went to a university for a short time, he tried to find a career, and expressed
desire for a relationships. Neil didn t accomplish things in the typical order of the social clock;
and I think this was a huge contributor to his depression. Neil was raised by his parents, whom
he believed were responsible for not addressing real world problems with him while he was young,
or not setting enough obstacles in his way (Apted Almond, 2013). Maybe Neil s problem was more
a lack of the development of coping strategies. Perhaps he never had to deal with any negativity as
a child and therefore never learned to cope with stress. His parents also set high standards for him
from a young age and he felt like this pressure gave him a false sense of confidence and a large
ego. He realized he was completely

Animal exploitation has been going on forever and still is present. Numerous amounts of
individuals are causing the animals to suffer just for their own advantage and benefit. People don t

You can eat other things other than an pig, cow, lamb, etc, and still have all the nutrients, and

Comparison of US Bill of Rights and The Canadian Charter...
BACKGROUND OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS
The United States Bill of Rights came into being as a result of a promise made by the Fathers of
Confederation to the states during the struggle for ratification of the Constitution in 1787 88. A
great number of the states made as a condition for their ratification, the addition of amendments,
which would guarantee citizens protection of their rights against the central government. Thus, we
have a rather interesting situation in which the entrenchment of a bill of rights in the American
Constitution was done by the virtual demand of the states, they themselves fearing a central
government which was not legally constrained and restricted as far as its powers were concerned.
The resulting Bill of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The entrenchment of rights in the Canadian Constitution comes after long experience with a system
of parliamentary supremacy. The American judicial tradition of treating the written constitution as
fundamental law cannot have an instant Canadian counterpart. Thus, it does not follow that the
Canadian courts will necessarily claim a role comparable to that of courts in the United States, nor
is it clear that the representative bodies in Canada would tolerate such a judicial assertion of power.
Opposition by government bodies to the Charter have already occurred in Canada, where the Parti
Quebecois government of Quebec invoked the notwithstanding the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms clause for the purpose of protecting their language laws from attack under the charter.

Desiree s Baby Literary Devices
Desiree s baby is a short story written by the author Kate Chopin. The theme of this story is
about a time before the Civil War, a time slaves were own and weren t considered humans. It is
about a man named Armand who is cruel to the blacks and despises them. Just like in every story
it has a plot and in this selection the plot is that there is a baby left to a woman named Mandame
Valmont and the babies name is Desiree. The man named Armand Aubigny wants to and get
married with Desiree when she gets older and they indeed do become married. Once they have a
baby they all notice the color of the skin is really dark, At first Mandame Valmont finds out and
tries her best to keep it away from Armand. Sooner or later Armand finds out, and he blames
Desiree since nobody knows her past heritage. After Desiree left with the baby to never come
back Armand is later noticed with a letter from his mom confessing that she was black. Which
means that he is black and means that he is the one that was responsible because he is black like
his heritage. In every single story we hear and see, we could always find some sort of literary
device in it. Either it being foreshadowing, some type of Irony, to just characteristics. There are
many literary devices in this story but today we will talk about this 3 main literary devices that

Sleep And Slow Wave Sleep Essay
improves procedural memory, i.e. skills and procedures [1,2] as well as declarative memory [3].
REM and slow wave sleep
(SWS) have been implicated in memory consolidation [3 5].
Lack of REM sleep is associated with poor recall of visual location [6]. Decline in declarative
memory consolidation is correlated with a decline in slow wave sleep [7]. Spencer et al. observed
similar initial procedural learning in older and younger adults; however, the older adults
performance did not improve following sleep, suggesting that sleep dependent memory
consolidation decreases with age [8]. This may reflect the disturbed sleep and disrupted SWS in
the elderly [3,8,9]. Slow wave sleep increases until shortly before puberty and then shows a
prominent drop across adolescence, decreasing by more than
60% between ages 10 and 20 years [10]. It is critical to understand the cognitive effects of normal
sleep in order to understand the consequences of disrupted sleep. This is important since the
majority of adolescents do not obtain the recommended amount of sleep and that disrupted sleep is
a key symptom in most adolescent psychiatric and developmental disorders [11].
Backhaus et al. studied twenty seven children with an average age of 10.1 years (range of nine to
twelve), on a learned word pairs list, employing a within subject design and two post learning
assessments. They found that declarative memory was significantly increased immediately after an
interval of sleep, as well as with

Organizational Management, Leadership, And Leadership
Introduction The group submission for this week is a summary of five topics from Resilient
Leaders that relate to Organizational Management and Leadership. The narrative concludes with
three scriptures that group four feels sum up the responsibilities of a leader.
Five Topics The five topics that group four chose from Resilient Leaders that relate to
Organizational Management and Leadership are selfless service, integrity, leading by example,
vision, and traits of wise leadership.
Selfless Service. Dees (2013) stated, resilient leadership is selfless service over time from a
platform of character and competence. Selfless service (servant leadership) is an important
concept to Organization Management and Leadership. Selfless service is the foundation of
servant leadership. Selfless service is one of the most important traits of a good leader. For an
organization to thrive, it is important for a leader to serve their followers and place their needs
before his needs. Servant leadership has a profound impact on employee empowerment by fostering
an environment of empathy, awareness, healing, listening, stewardship and community awareness
(Murari Gupta, 2012). A selfless service leader can have mediating effects on both public service
motivation and corporate social responsibility that assist the organization from both a community
and goal attainment perspective (Tuan, 2016). Selfless service is serving others without regard for
self (Dees, 2013). Naturally,

Racism About Racism
To be honest, I ve only experienced blatant racism once in my life. I was in 7th grade, and I was
getting up to put my food away because my class was leaving. Suddenly, a foot came out of
nowhere and two seconds later, I found myself on the floor with my uneaten school food all over
the ground and me while being called a terrorist by a Caucasian. It wasn t a big ruckus, only both
of our classes saw what happened but it was still terrifying. My friendswere about 8 feet away in
shock, and not a single soul helped me not that I expected it. I was a pretty emotionally strong
and carefree kid. Humans didn t scare me. If you poked me once I would just forgive you and
move on with my little life. To this day, I don t consider that a mortifying experience, I am
completely fine. The boy that called me a terrorist was held back the next year so karma came
and did my job for me. What did bother me, however, were the little, almost unnoticed glimpses
of racism that would happen to me which was completely shrouded away because teenagers were
just expected to be rude people so it was acceptable. It was the small things that hurt me the most,
and even though the greater portion of America believes that racism has been conquered, I don t
believe so. But as bad as these instances of racism hurt me, it s what made my mindstrong and
taught me to be happy. An example of what bothered me would be when I would walk into a class

So many words come to mind, looking back on it now. I felt alienated, yet accepted. I felt

Superior, with that crisp uniform upon my body. Inferior, the mens eyes. June 28, 1976. The

The Dangers Of Genetic Engineering
Genetic engineering is known for it controversial issues such as playing God yet the media has been
keen on sugar coating the benefits on new genetic innovations. People have glossed over the
dangers that it is providing toward inequalities in society. Although Genetic engineering can benefit
to those in the lower class to an extent, the Government needs to limit the potential inequalities
genetic modification is doing toward society.
For those of you who don t know what genetic engineering is and how it works here is some
background information. There are several forms of genetic testing and we will focus on two,
molecular and chromosomal genetic tests, which test for genetic mutations likewise. Molecular
genetic tests allow doctors to see if the patient s DNA has a mutation that can lead to a genetic
disease such as Tay Sachs caused by the body s inability by DNA mutation. Chromosomal tests
allow doctors to look at the chromosomes to determine if there is a mutation such as an extra
chromosome that will lead to genetic diseases like Down Syndrome caused by containing an extra
chromosome. Through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), we have been able to know ... Show more

Lamb And Tyger Archetypes Essay
Lambs and Tigers; Which are you?
(An analysis of the archetypes in Blake s Lamb and Tyger )
Tigers, they re fierce, independent, destructive, powerful, experienced and cunning. Lambs are
the polar opposite, considered gentle, pleasant, and innocent creatures. William Blake discusses
both these archetypes in his poems Lamb and Tyger . The poems are a discussion on the
archetype of each animal; when paired together they suggest our own society can be divided into
these two groups of people. The archetypes of Lamb and Tyger vividly contrast each other in way
that allows us to categorize ourselves into one of three groups. In the first of Blake s poems he
discusses the archetype of a lamb, the innocent and gentle of the world. At one point in Lamb it
characterizes the lamb to have, Softest clothing wooly bright, alluding to the pure and innocent
nature of the lamb. Lambs with, such a tender voice, that, make all the vales rejoice. These are the
people of the world that don t have a mean bone in their body. The lambs are kind and
compassionate people that still retain some of that child like innocence. Blake would think of them
as the light in the world, pure and pleasing to others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

creatures. Blake depicts them as having, fearful symmetry, and the one who created a tiger to

bully or even up to a ruthless dictator. Those who classify as a tiger are leaders and know how to
get what they want. Often using or abusing lambs in the process. This polarizing of people into the
opposite spectrum from a lamb doesn t always seem like a good fit though. The question is if you

Whether you re looking to buy or sell a used car, you re going to hear many different terms. You
ll need to learn what goes into determining the price of a used car to understand how to negotiate
the best price for yourself too. This guide will help you when you re buying or selling a used car.
Terminology
Dealer Retail Price
The used car dealer will want to sell the vehicle at the highest possible price. It s the price listed
on the buying guide or on the windshield in bright numbers. The retail price isn t the last price that
a dealer will take. It s often the starting place for negotiations.

It s the price at the beginning of negotations. A private seller will often list their asking price when
selling a used car.
You can certainly ask a private seller if they are willing to negotiate. Some private sellers will tell
you in their advertisements if they re willing to negotiate. It ll have the price and the words or best
offer after them. This means they are willing to discuss the final selling price.
Blue Book Value
When someone mentions the blue book value of the car, they are referring to the Kelley Blue Book
value. It s a list of cars based on model, year and condition as well as trade in prices.
While some people believe it s a price set in stone, it s only a pricing guide. Consumer reports, the
National Automobile Dealers Association and VMR has pricing guides too. When you check
several of these sources, you can pin down a more accurate price for a vehicle.
Trade In Price
Dealers will often take an old used vehicle when you re purchasing a vehicle from them. The

Pros And Cons Of Chainsaw
OREGON CS1500 Self Sharpening Electric Chain Saw: Product Review
First rule of running a chainsaw: Never, ever work with a dull chain!
One of the most difficult parts in owning a chainsaw is the upkeep that the equipment needs.
Sharpening your unit is a seemingly tedious task that several people would rather leave to
professionals instead of doing it on their own. Nevertheless, this practice may be quite expensive,
especially if you need to sharpen several chains. Eventually, you will be torn between spending
your money on a professional or putting in more effort to do the sharpening on your own.
You may think that there is no compromise for this dilemma... However, Oregon has created a
technology that enables the chainsaw to be sharpened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this could be caused by human error, since these reports appear to be an isolated issue.
As it is a corded electric chainsaw, your work area is limited to places situated within the reach of
an extension cord that should also have an access to an electrical outlet. The extension cord also
needs to be securely locked to avoid being detached from the outlet while you work.
Pros
This unit comes with a patented technology called PowerSharp Chainsaw Sharpening System that
allows for tool free chainsaw sharpening within three seconds
It has an over mold handle that causes the chainsaw to produce less vibrations and allows the user
to run the equipment comfortably and conveniently
The Oregon CS1500 is engineered with an automated chain braking system that is designed for the
added safety for the users
It is easy to maintain and eliminates the cost of professional chainsaw sharpening
Cons
There are a few users who have commented that the chain falls off easily
Since it is a corded electric chainsaw, the working space that you can work with is limited to the
radius of the extension cord
You must avoid heavy duty cutting with any electric chainsaw, however, this unit can cut through
thicker pieces of wood (with a diameter of 16 inches) compared to other electrically powered

The Life And Work Of Martin Luther
Martin Luther experienced true faith and a true mystical experience for the first time when he got
stuck in a thunderstorm. Fearing for his life he begged St. Anne that if she took care of him he
would become a monk. Luther s journey began towards the life of God. The path he took, led him
through moments of realization and confusion. Martin Luther questioned the church and re
evaluated baptism; yet, he re enforced the importance of the Eucharist, kept his faith in God and
believed every child of Christ had the right to know the Lord s word.
Sacraments are about becoming closer to God, to commit to a life of God and to reach God s
grace. According to Rev. David D.Reedy author of The Life and Work of Martin Luther Martin
began a revolution as he taught and wrote about his dissatisfactions with the church. He began to
change the way people understood and the sacraments because he began to go back to the roots of
each sacrament.
When I began my path towards God through my own choice and not just part of what I was
nurtured through, I began to realize a few things I didn t agree with. Martin Luther began to ask
questions to learn and explore, but he was encountered with an unexpected twist. When making
his way to become a minister David Reedy explains, He came away more disillusioned, and very
discouraged by the immorality and corruption he witnessed there among the Catholic priests. His
main ideal was that we must dig back into the real power of faith. Luther believes

Summer shows fear because she has no clue what is going to happen down there and if she will

Types Of The Organisational Structure Of RSPCA
Organisational structure of RSPCA
The organisational structure that the charity RSPCA has is a flat structure which between
management and the worker level employees has few or no levels of management. This type of
business structure displays the workers with the higher levels of authority and control on the higher
levels. Then the workers with the least control and authority are on the lower levels of the flat
organisational structure. The RSPCA using a flat organisational structure has managementlevels of
a few or one. Meaning a Chain of Command from top to bottom will be short while the span of
control is wide . The span of control means where the managers are responsible for a certain
number of workers each at RSPCA.
The store I will be focusing on is the Rowley Regis store to explain the flat structure for the
RSPCA. The is a diagram of the flat structure below: This image shows the base level to be the
workers who have the lowest level of authority and control in the RSPCA. The second level are the
managers who have a span of control of seven subordinates between the two managers. The highest
level is the director of the RSPCA who has the most control and authority out of everyone else,
according to the image of the flat organisational structure.
An advantage of the RSPCA being part of a flat structure is that for the managers and workers
there is a great communication. This is an advantage because of their only being a few levels of
communication for example,

The Battle of Bunker (Breeds) Hill and Its Effect on the American Revolution Following the
events in Massachusetts at Lexington and Concord, April 19, 1775, state militiamen from
Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Vermont gathered in Cambridge and the area
surrounding Boston. British General Gage and about 6,000 soldiers and marines were in
possession of Boston, while the American force consisted of over 16,000 men. Sickness and
missing soldiers brought the number of available soldiers closer to 9,000. In addition, the
American force was extremely short of gunpowder, having only around thirty or so half full

Shortly, he rode back to Cambridge in search of General Ward to urge the reinforcement of
Prescott. Ward was concerned that reinforcing Prescott would weaken his forces elsewhere and
felt he had to wait to learn for certain where the British would attack. By about 11:00 pm, two
British gondolas approached the Neck as close as possible and began firing at anything that moved
along the Neck. What actual affect this effort had was unclear, though there were some casualties.
By noon the British were in the boats and Howe with about 1,500 men embarked at one. Whether
Ward had issued reinforcement orders or not before the British made their move, he did so now,
sending orders to nine Massachusetts regiments, John Stark s and James Reed s New Hampshire
regiments, and several artillery companies. All was confused chaos, with each regiment moving as
it thought best and all the time men and officers dropping off and melting into the woodwork.
Several Massachusetts regiments blocked the entrance fearful of crossing under direct cannon fire.

underground waste storage tanks and a nuclear fabrication facility. All the facilities were in
operation to develop plutonium fuels for military defense (Gephart and Lundgren 1998).
The site was in operation for 44 years and was decommissioned in 1987 (Wald, 1998). During this
period, approximately 110,000 tons of nuclear fuel were processed at Hanford Site (Wald, 1998;

Saudi Arabia And The Islamic World
When it comes to the Middle Eastern continent the most significant and popular country is known
as Saudi Arabia. The fact following certain aspects and a shared history with Islamic religion
makes it the most well known place in the world for Muslims as well as the entire Arab world.
Saudi Arabia lies and covers most of the Arabian Peninsula, inclusive of the Red Sea. The first
concrete evidence of human existence in the Arab world takes us back 15000 to 20000 years.
Tribes of hunters and gatherers survived on this land, abolishing hunger through wild animals and
plants. Over the centuries, the peninsula has played the role in history as an ancient trade center
and the birthplace of Islam, one of the most monotheistic religions that exist in the world, even
today! Saudi Arabiais not only the homeland of Arabs, but also the homeland of Islam. The Prophet
Muhammad PBUH founded Islam in the two holiest places in the Islamic world, Meccaand Medina,
which to this day exist within the borders of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was
founded by King Abdul Aziz in the early 1900 s. After establishing Riyadh as his headquarters,
Abdul Aziz captured several neighboring areas, including Mecca and Medina, during the time
period of 1924 to 1925 and during the process; he united the warring tribes into one nation. Finally,

The Importance Of Military Deception
Military Deception (MILDEC) is applicable at all levels of war and can be implemented within
any phase of military operations to deter hostile actions and increase success of friendly
defensive and offensive operations. To achieve these goals and objectives policy and doctrine
which is the driving force for everything the United States Military does will need to be sound and
able to navigate the geopolitical environment. These critical principles serve as one of the most
important aspects when discussing or implementing MILDEC. In addition, these principles serve as
a guide when developing plans by providing knowledge based experience (literature/doctrine) and
nest authority with legal backing for the Geographical Combatant Commander (GCC) and the Joint
Force Commander (JFC) when conducting MILDEC operations. In the following paragraphs, I will
illustrate how creative thinking was incorporated through MILDEC into military action which lead
to successful operations. Deception operations have been employed in warfare throughout history,
with the earliest mentions being 1294 BC when Pharaoh Ramses II of Egypt led his army against
the Hittite stronghold of Kadesh. Two Hittite soldiers volunteered to lead Egyptian elements
against their former comrades. This trust proved to be devastating for the pharaoh because of their
desired perception of the two informants. Often, as we have learned during the MILDEC course
that the best deception operation is carried out because of

Who Is The Hero In Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Buffy The Vampire Slayer is a critically acclaimed masterpiece. One can see this in many ways
including how extended metaphors can be seen throughout Buffy. Buffy was and still continues to
be extremely popular. It aired from 1997 to 2003, having approximately 177 episodes, and airing
for seven seasons. Many episodes had different meanings. In the episode titled I Robot, You Jane it
warns of the dangers of catfishing without directly saying it, and in The Replacement it deals with
split personalities and how to deal with them. Hush s meaning dealt with the importance of
communication. Buffy Summers, the central character of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is portrayed as
not only a hero but as a princess in the hit TV show s episode Hush.
Buffy Summers is a princess not the typical ball gown and magical princess though. She is a
princess for a few reasons other than being related to royalty. In the show, Giles tells the gang the
only way to kill the monsters is a scream, later Buffy screams just like how in the story the

The Modern Gro SS Es Schauspielhaus
The Modern GroГџes Schauspielhaus
Styles of architectural design are always changing. As time progresses, new advancements are
being made to accommodate a mass society and create a utopian design that will provide for the
best possible living standards. The main qualities expressed in modern buildings are how they
strive to replicate the goals and ambitions of their architects and patrons in a way beneficial to
society as a whole. Modernism is a term that was invented in response to the architectural
movement starting around the early 20th century to explain the dramatic changes in both technology
and society. It was mainly in response to the industrial revolution which created urban cities
changing the way people lived and worked. Modern architecture began to experiment with more
modern concepts with buildings adoption more of a machine aesthetic by adding industrially
produced materials. The grand theater GroГџes Schauspielhaus utilizes the style of modernism to
create a building for the people incorporating new technologies to design a space befitting the
changing attitudes of early 20th century German society.
The building GroГџes Schauspielhaus was designed by Hans Poelzig, who had worked as an
architect, painter and set designer, in 1919 Berlin, Germany shortly after the first World War.

something that you touch or see but you can see the force in action. Force can be measured in a

The Importance Of Gender Equality In The Film Iron Jawed...
The struggle for equality has been a convoluted, mystical and a revolutionary process for women
in their efforts to obtain some sense of respect from their counter partner the male with regards to
equality in education, wages, and political participation. Since the formation of this United States
women has often been viewed as property of men. The breakage of this type of behavior has been
one of the mightiest to resolve. My purpose is to identify some of the current strategies being
utilize to embark on the necessary feminist change; however, this is not an all inclusive listing for
gender equality for there are far too numerous to present. Enhancing gender equity may be
implemented depending on the circumstances as demonstrated in the film Iron Jawed Angels for
example 1. activism, organizing, and women s networking; 2. policy focused strategies; 3.
mentoring; 4. leadership development; and 5. altering organizational norms and procedures. I see
activism as a passionate effort which will change the landscape in social, political, economic, or
environmental reform for improvements in society. Most, if not all strategies have emerged from
formal and informal that is grassroots activism. In a more formal approach to activism the focus is
on justice, equal rights and fairness; nonetheless, policy initiatives are needed to avert the injustices
to woman as presented by the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) whereby
establishing suffrage was an

Premenstrual Syndrome Essay
Introduction Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) affects about half of women who are of reproductive
age, and the global prevalence for PMS is roughly 47.8% with percentages of women affected
varying by country1. Symptoms of PMS are cyclic, occur during the luteal phase, and diminish with
the onset of the menses2. There are more than 200 symptoms that have been associated with PMS,
but the most common symptoms can be categorized into 3 groups: behavioral, psychological, and
physical symptoms. Behavioral symptoms include fatigue, insomnia, dizziness, change in sexual
interest, food cravings, and/or overeating2. Psychological symptoms include irritability, anger,
depressed mood, crying, anxiety, tension, mood swings, difficulty concentrating,... Show more

Iron is also a crucial part of menses, as it is found in blood, and the menstrual cycle can deplete a
woman s stores. While food sources are the recommended vehicles in which to meet the
recommendations for these vitamins and minerals, supplementation is another way a woman could
ensure she is getting the recommended dose of the aforementioned vitamins and minerals.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of vitamin and mineral supplementation on
reducing PMS symptoms in women between the ages of 20 and 30. Half of the female population
suffers from PMS, while others experience significant symptoms that are not severe enough for a
clinical diagnosis, but occur during the luteal phase and affect daily living. This study is important
because PMS affects many women, and if this study successfully found a supplement or nutrition
prescription that reduced symptoms, women could live life regularly again.
Study Aims and Hypothesis One of the aim of this study is to identify if women with PMS have a
nutritional deficiency that could be an underlying factor in the symptoms they are experiencing.
Another aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of different vitamins and minerals on
reducing symptoms of PMS by testing various vitamin and mineral supplements on

The Issue Of Legalizing Marijuana
Does it really come to morality after all? The decision to legalize marijuana has been subject for
debate since first introduced in 1969; many arguing the fact that we are sitting on an industry
worth an estimated 113 billion dollars. For once we have an opportunity to make a real impact
in our economy. We have an aid on the war on drugs . But are we then showing our children that
legalizing drugs is really the answer to our problems or does only the big picture mater in the
end? Will this bring for a stronger, richer nation or will this bring us down to our knees. Colorado
Amendment 64 was passed on November 6, 2012. Section 16 legalized the personal use and
regulation of marijuana for adults 21 and over as well as commercial... Show more content on

This brings us to the beginning of the debate over this issue. In truth, everything has those who
favor and those who oppose. In 1969 Gallup first questioned Americans and found that only 12%
favored legalizing marijuana use. Today that number has risen to 53%. A National Survey on
Drug and Health says that it is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United Stated. The
government survey showed that 18.9 million Americans 12 years or older had used marijuana in
the past month. So what does this information tell us? That legal or not millions of Americans
have and still use marijuana here in the U.S. This has been said a lot by an advocate in favor of
the legalization of marijuana, his name is Tom Tancredo. Tom Tancredo is the one who said,
Marijuana prohibition has failed us. It s crippled our nation over the matter when we have the
power to change what is. This former Republican Congressman wrote a column for the Gazette
saying, that despite his conservative beliefs he is in fact supporting Amendment 64 calling
marijuana prohibition to be wasteful and ineffective program. Nothing proved to be truer as the
production and sale brought millions of profit annually to the illegal cultivation and sale of
marijuana. Not to mention the tens of billions we spend trying to prohibit the consumption of
something less harmful the alcohol. In Colorado marijuana users are helping out public schools.

Journey to Success
The American Dream is the dream that regardless of where you are born or what social class you
are born into, anyone can attain their own version of success. In The Great Gatsby and The Pursuit
of Happyness , both protagonists pursue the path to achieving their American Dream. For both Jay
Gatsby and Christopher Gardner they are both given unfortunate privileges to where they start
their journey. Both men are lower class citizens who make less than minimum wage salaries but
that do not stop them from wanting to succeed. Chris story begins in a small apartment in San
Francisco. Chris Gardner is a black man with a minimum wage job, who lives with his wife
Linda and his 5 year old son Christopher. One day, his wife leaves him because of his lack of
income and motivation to provide for the family. That day, Chris devotes his life and his son s
life to a successful future. Chris and his son are pushed to their limits in the hope that Chris will
achieve his American Dream of being a stockbroker. Jay Gatsby is quite similar to Chris Gardner
in his story. He was born James Gatz in Louisville, Kentucky, to a couple who owned a poor
farm. James was constantly working on his family s farm and even worked other jobs as a child
just to have a decent source of income. He was a lonely little boy who lacked motivation to do
something with his life. It was only until he met Dan Cody that Gatsby s life

maintain their social harmony. Moreover, citizens especially the drinkers children developed more

they have the responsibility to protect citizens. It was then that Prohibition made a meaningful

Starry Night By Vincent Van Gogh
A Cypress Tree in the Midst of the Stars
Vincent Van Gogh, the Dutch artist who painted Starry Night, was disrespected and unappreciated
for his works during his life. However, today he is considered one of the greatest Dutch painters.
Today, his work is known for its detail, beauty, and emotion. One might claim that Vincent Van
Gogh s painting Starry Night depicts his supposed insanity. However, his painting Starry Night
depicts his feelings of isolation, his feelings of alienation, and the appreciation he thought he would
soon achieve during his lifetime, though each of which do not necessarily depict insanity. Van
Gogh s painting represents his feelings of isolation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Starry Night accurately depicts the feelings of loneliness that everyone can relate to at some
point during their lifetime. Van Gogh s works may not have received the attention they deserved
during his lifetime, but today his works receive the recognition they deserve. His feelings as a
struggling artist are apparent through the dark colors and the enormous cypress tree which
captures the viewer s attention. The darker colors represent darker feelings such as feelings of
isolation and loneliness, while the cooler colors represent sadness and depression. The colors are
an accurate depiction of Van Gogh s feelings. These feelings of depression and isolation led Van
Gogh to the point of admitting himself into an asylum. Of course, an asylum is not meant for
interaction with other people, rather it is meant to isolate the patients from harming other people
or themselves because of their illness, thus Van Gogh s attempt to alleviate his feelings of
depression and loneliness seem in vain. Furthermore, Van Gogh felt alienated from the other
artists of his time. The little houses, for example, are all painted with dark colors to express that
the townspeople are asleep and ignorant to the feelings of isolation that Van Gogh had. Lee claims
in her analysis of Starry Night, [...] the sleepy village represents the rest of the world, unaware of
whatever raging passions and agony Van Gogh was going through at that moment. Perhaps this

Anorexia And Bulimia Essay
INTRODUCTION
The rise in eating disorders has captured the attention of both medical and dental professionals. A
dental hygienist may be the first professional to detect an eating disorder due to the oral
complications that are associated with the condition (Foster, 2017). Eating disorders are described
as a persistent disturbance of eating behavior or behavior intended to control weight, which
significantly impairs physical health or psychosocial functioning (Fairburn Walsh, 2003). There are
several types of eating disorders and sufferers may have a combination of disorders. Among eating
disorders, anorexia and bulimia nervosa are the most common (The British Psychological Society,
2004). This review will discuss the psychological and behavioral traits associated with anorexia and
bulimia nervosa, as well as the systemic and dental consequences.
Research has shown, most cases of anorexia and bulimia nervosa begin during adolescence, with
the growth of social media being linked to one of the causal factors (The British Psychological
Society, 2004). There is some evidence suggesting roles of genetic, neurobiological and
sociocultural factors as well (The British Psychological Society, 2004). Morbidity and mortality
rates may be higher because individuals with eating disorders often deny the extent of their fasting,
binge eating and purging behaviors (Steinberg, 2012).
Anorexia nervosa is a mental disorder in which a person maintains a low weight as a result of a

  • 2. Woman At Point Zero and The Metamorphosis Thesis Statement: The absence of mother in the protagonist s life in Woman At Point Zero and The Metamorphosis contributes greatly to their alienation. All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my Mother Abraham Lincoln. 1 Alienation: a withdrawing or separation of a person, or a person s affections from an object or position of former attachment4. Alienation is a key theme present in Woman at Point Zero2 and The Metamorphosis3 by Nawaal El Saadawi and Franz Kafka respectively which is approached in different ways. With the use of diction, imagery, contrast and symbolism, this is greatly seen through the unusual bonds that Firdaus and Gregor share with their mothers throughout their lives. Gregor from The Metamorphosis was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, when Gregor finally shows himself to the clerk and his family, she looked first with hands clasped at his father, then took two steps toward Gregor and sank to the floor.. (87) The imagery used here conveys the hostile and distant treatment Gregor receives from his family. The connotation of the phrase sank to the floor is that of an emotional rejection and portrays how Mrs. Samsa tries to run away from her son s reality. Through the contrast and imagery it is seen that Gregor is no longer associated with his mother, who is firm on isolating herself from him. This denial affects Gregor directly which explains why he underwent an alienation process. Despite the fact that Gregor s mother could not bear to physically interact with him, she has hopes of her son s comeback. When Grete suggests that the furniture be removed from his room, she think[s] the best thing would be if we tried to keep his room exactly as it was before, so that when he returns, he ll find everything unchanged, and he can forget what s happened (103). The connotation of the words unchanged , returns and forget what s happened , suggests how she is under the delusion that Gregor will come back. She does not readily want to accept the fact that anything had happened to her dear son. She was, after all, his mother. In comparison to Firdaus it can certainly be seen that he shared a strong relationship ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay about The Potential Effects of Discrimination Task 3 P3 The potential effects of discrimination There are lots of potential effects related to discrimination. It includes things like disempowerment, low self esteem and self identity and also marginalisation. I am now going to explain these effects and connect them with a case study. Disempowerment is when a person or group of people may be made to feel less powerful or confident. Some people may try to fight against the discrimination causing an argument but many people do not and they lose the will to fight against it. As a result of this type of discrimination, they may then become depressed and feel devalued as well as disempowered. This could lead to health issues and may lead to them taking tablets which would make them more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means they do not trust health and social care workers and organisations to be looking after and supporting them. All types of discrimination can also lead to negative behaviour and can partly cause aggression or crime; even living in poverty and experiencing discrimination can affect an individual s behaviour as well. Due to the negligence they may take out their frustration on the care providers or others in the society which would make them in the wrong and after being investigated this may or may not change because of the client s self esteem or pressure levels. As well as taking it out on the care providers, they are also able to take it out on health and social care professionals. Bethan Jenkins Case Study A retired teacher, Betty (65 years old), was diagnosed with Dementia. She lived at home with her husband Arthur (70 years old) who had been caring for her for several years. When she was diagnosed, No information was given to the couple. They had no relatives that they could rely on around them for support. Betty had a fall a few weeks after her diagnoses. It took a fall and an admission to hospital for the health and social care team to realise they were struggling. Finally, workers involved Betty and Arthur fully in giving information about Betty s condition and possible sources of help e.g. meals on wheels, luncheon club, day care etc. This enabled Betty to be fully included in as plan of care which enabled her to ... • 7. Influence Of Multichannel Selling Strategies Towards... Title Influence of Multichannel Selling Strategies Towards Consumer Buying Behaviour Introduction The research dissertation that is proposed throughout this paper brings an indication towards the topic of multichannel enhancement. The topic has seen a major shift in how consumers are using the multichannel environment to purchase more and more than ever before (Jones, 2013). The retail environment has evolved with this consumer shift, in becoming more dynamic towards the customer s needs and creating a more customised channel (Whitler, 2016). A personal interest comes towards this topic from my involvement in retail over the past five years, experiencing this retail evolvement first hand. Literature Review The developed definition of the use of multichannel in the retail market has been branded towards the opening of multiple channels to communicate towards the customer (Zhang et al., 2010). The importance of multichannel selling strategies has significantly grown with the rise of new business channels emerging into the market (StojkoviД‡ et al., 2016). In view of this growth, a dominant approach of retailers combining classical (store) channels and electronic (website) channels has shown extensive successes for most of the world s leading retailers (StojkoviД‡ et al., 2016). In addition to this potential success for the retailer, the benefits can also be passed onto the customer, which will be discussed, then simply using the selling strategy to communicate with the ... • 8. Mohamed Ali Essay Beginnings Clay, named after his father and Kentucky abolitionist Cassius M. Clay, was born in Louisville, Kentucky. At age 12, he had his bicycle stolen, and reported the fact to a local policeman (and boxing trainer), Joe Martin. Martin suggested that Clay learn to fight; under his guidance, Clay rapidly advanced through the youth ranks. A low achiever academically, Clay won six Kentucky Gold Gloves while at high school and was allowed to graduate despite his poor grades. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Misreading Clay s exuberance as nervousness, Liston was over confident and unprepared for any result but a quick stoppage. In the opening rounds, Clay s speed, greater even than his idols, Sugar Ray Robinson and Archie Moore, kept him away from Liston s powerful head and body shots, as he used his height and reach advantage to effectively counterpunch with the jab. As early as the third round, Liston began to visibly tire, and Clay took full advantage, landing several heavy punches. By the third, Clay was clearly on top and had opened a large cut under Liston s eye. Liston regained some ground in the fourth, as Clay was blinded by a foreign substance. It is unknown whether this was something used to close Liston s cuts or applied to Liston s gloves for a nefarious purpose. Partially sighted, Clay was able to keep out of range, and by the fifth and into the sixth, he was looking for a finish. That came before the seventh, when Liston retired on his stool, later claiming his shoulder had become dislocated. Clay leapt out of his corner, proclaiming himself quot;King of the World quot; and demanding the writers eat their words. Clay was duly crowned the heavyweight champion of the world. He would reconfirm his abilities when he knocked out Liston in the first round of their rematch in Lewiston, Maine on May 25, 1965, albeit controversially, as few observers saw the quot;phantom punch quot; that ... Communication As A Nurse As a current nursing student, the book Fundamentals of Nursing will enhance my career by helping me implement good communication skills and understanding spiritual health. Chapter 24 that discusses communication and chapter 36 that discusses spiritual health are the chapters that helped me in writing this report. It is factual that effective communication skills and competency are needed upon achieving a profession as a nurse. Upon first greeting a patient the distinctive level of communication is apparent. • 11. Why Rumor Is Defined By The New York Stock Exchange Rumor is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an unverified or unconfirmed statement or report circulating in a community. In the financial community, rumors have an effect on the direction of markets. The New York Stock Exchange in the United States is the epitome of how rumors can impact trade. The fluctuation of stockand commodity (raw material) prices on a daily basis is, in part, due to the daily news cycle. Although reports by news companies are supposed to be factual, statements made can be unverified. Because of the large scale of social media, anyone can make up rumors that can go viral. Stock traders rely on the news to determine what stocks they will buy or sell. News reports include important information such as: new product developments, company restructures, commodity reports, and scandals. Because of the rapid news, trading on the stock markethappens very fast and it gets chaotic. As the buyers and sellers interact their process sets the stock price. The news effects the stock price because if a positive story circulates, there will be more buyers for a stock, which will raise the stock price; if a negative story circulates, there will be fewer buyers, which will lower the stock price. This constant process can either earn a big payday or be a total loss. Because of the money that people stand to either make or loose, rumors have an effect on the way individuals behave on the stock market. To better understand how rumors work within the financial ... • 12. The State Of New Mexico Essay The state of New Mexico defines murder in the first degree as the killing of one person by another without a lawful justification or excuse. Any action resulting in death, which can be proven to have been willful, deliberate and premeditated; committed during the commission or attempt to commit a felony; or by an act so dangerous to the lives of others that it indicates a depraved mind and disregard for human life, is a capital felony (NM Stat В§ 30 2 1). Currently, capital felonies are subject to a sentence of life imprisonment, or a true life imprisonment sentence which provides no option for release or parole (NM Stat В§ 31 18 14). However, from 1979 to 2009, New Mexico carried a harsher set of punishments for first degree murder; life in prison with the possibility of parole, or the death penalty. Terry Clark was the only prisoner on death row to be executed before the penalty repeal in 2009. In 1987, a jury found Clark guilty after hearing gruesome testimony that he abducted, raped, and shot his young victim three times in the head before he buried her body in a shallow grave on his brother s ranch. Unsurprisingly, Clark filed an appeal with the New Mexico Supreme Court after the lower court s ruling and sentencing. In State v. Clark, 772 P.2d 322 (1989), the court carefully considered Clarks many claims of trial misconduct. Clark originally entered a guilty plea after his defense counsel informed him that his death sentence might be commuted by then governor, Toney ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Pros And Cons Of Living In A Dystopian Society Introduction Utopias and dystopias are both literary genres that explore the social and political structures of a specific society. A utopia is a perfect world or paradise. It is an imaginary place where there is no poverty, disease, discrimination or war. Utopias consist of peaceful governments that have ideal economic and social conditions. All citizens are equal, there is access to education, and healthcare, and the environment is safe for all that live there. The defining characteristic is inner peace, love, and a sense of purpose for those that can find it. Another example of a utopia is The Giver by Lois Lowery. The Giver is the story of a boy named Jonas that lives in a community that has converted to Sameness. In order to preserve structure and order, things like color, climate, and memory, have been eradicated. He was a cheerful and active child, who was very talkative and appeared to be the most joyful and comical of all the children in the film 7 Up. Yet after a dramatic turn to which the source is not completely clear, he ended up homeless by age 21. With an in depth look at his life considering environmental, biological and psychological factors, it becomes apparent that his life was not a typical one, veering away from any standard timeline and lacking any amount of stability. From a broad overview, Neil s life appears to completely disregard the social clock and any standard timeline, however small parts of his life still had a degree of normality. At seven, Neil was very active... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At age 49 Neil moved to Cambria, and is a member of the local district council. He has his own house in the countryside and seems to be happier than ever. He is very focused on his religion, something that is typical of late adulthood, when people start searching for a meaning in life (Santrock, 2015). At 56, when the typical man should be preparing to retire and expecting grandchildren, Neil is just now able to keep his first job, as a counselor of Cambria. He continued lay ministry and works for a church (Apted Almond, 2013). Neil strived to make his life normative; he went to a university for a short time, he tried to find a career, and expressed desire for a relationships. Neil didn t accomplish things in the typical order of the social clock; and I think this was a huge contributor to his depression. Neil was raised by his parents, whom he believed were responsible for not addressing real world problems with him while he was young, or not setting enough obstacles in his way (Apted Almond, 2013). Maybe Neil s problem was more a lack of the development of coping strategies. Perhaps he never had to deal with any negativity as a child and therefore never learned to cope with stress. BACKGROUND OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS The United States Bill of Rights came into being as a result of a promise made by the Fathers of Confederation to the states during the struggle for ratification of the Constitution in 1787 88. A great number of the states made as a condition for their ratification, the addition of amendments, which would guarantee citizens protection of their rights against the central government. Thus, we have a rather interesting situation in which the entrenchment of a bill of rights in the American Constitution was done by the virtual demand of the states, they themselves fearing a central government which was not legally constrained and restricted as far as its powers were concerned. • 19. Sleep And Slow Wave Sleep Essay improves procedural memory, i.e. skills and procedures [1,2] as well as declarative memory [3]. REM and slow wave sleep (SWS) have been implicated in memory consolidation [3 5]. Lack of REM sleep is associated with poor recall of visual location [6]. Decline in declarative memory consolidation is correlated with a decline in slow wave sleep [7]. Spencer et al. observed similar initial procedural learning in older and younger adults; however, the older adults performance did not improve following sleep, suggesting that sleep dependent memory consolidation decreases with age [8]. This may reflect the disturbed sleep and disrupted SWS in the elderly [3,8,9]. Slow wave sleep increases until shortly before puberty and then shows a prominent drop across adolescence, decreasing by more than 60% between ages 10 and 20 years [10]. It is critical to understand the cognitive effects of normal sleep in order to understand the consequences of disrupted sleep. This is important since the majority of adolescents do not obtain the recommended amount of sleep and that disrupted sleep is a key symptom in most adolescent psychiatric and developmental disorders [11]. Backhaus et al. studied twenty seven children with an average age of 10.1 years (range of nine to twelve), on a learned word pairs list, employing a within subject design and two post learning assessments. They found that declarative memory was significantly increased immediately after an interval of sleep, as well as with delayed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What did bother me, however, were the little, almost unnoticed glimpses of racism that would happen to me which was completely shrouded away because teenagers were just expected to be rude people so it was acceptable. (An analysis of the archetypes in Blake s Lamb and Tyger ) Tigers, they re fierce, independent, destructive, powerful, experienced and cunning.
