Callaway Golf Essay
THE MARKET
More than two decades ago, Ely Callaway set out to build a company that would bring more
enjoyment and game improvement to golfers of all skill levels. He accomplished much of that goal in
1991, introducing a technological wonder called the Big Bertha Driver. By creating in Big Bertha a
larger clubhead without adding weight, the late founder of Callaway Golf Company turned the most
feared club into the most loved almost overnight. The driver became the fastest selling club at retail.
Many innovations have followed. From woods, irons, and putters to golf balls and golf accessories,
Callaway Golf has consistently used ingenuity, quality construction, and technology to make the finest
premium products in the industry.

In fact, Callaway Golf products are among the most popular on the world s professional tours and
have been used to set several scoring records and win hundreds of tournaments. This success helped
Callaway Golf become the world s largest manufacturer of golf clubs within five years of the Big
Bertha Driver s launch, prompting major changes within the golf industry. Callaway Golf s success
enabled it to become the first major golf company to go public, as shares of company stock began
trading on the NewYork Stock Exchange in 1992, under the ELY ticker symbol.
HISTORY
Callaway Golf s success story begins with a small three person golf company called Hickory Stick
USA, which was founded in 1982 in Temecula, California. The company initially made wedges and
putters that had unique shafts constructed of hickory with a steel core. These clubs caught the eye of
Ely Callaway, who bought an interest in the company the following year. Mr. Callaway had already
been a successful businessman in the fields of textiles and wine, and golf would become the third and
most successful act in his entrepreneurial career. His business philosophy —that every

Belongingness By Banana Yoshimoto
A definition of belongingness is to have a sense of affinity with the same taste, thought, situation as
oneself and put yourself there. Furthermore, it would be able to be supported from someone and
supports someone. In other words, each person who has the above things would support each other. In
addition, the definition of belongingness represented as family and kitchens in the book, Kitchen that
was written by Banana Yoshimoto, and both family and kitchens had the important role to play in
establishing the identity of Mikage. In this case, Mikage family were grandmother, Yuichi, and Eriko,
and kitchen was a place which creates energy to live. Both saved Mikage from lonely and established

She needed a family that is holding similar sadness. Yuichi and Eriko gave the family because both
also had similar sadness. Yuichi was sad the death of Mikage s grandmother as well as his mother s
death. Eriko also had sorrow for the death of her/his wife, who was mother of Yuichi. In this book, her
ex boyfriend appeared. Mikage sometimes used a word light as a symbol of what she wants. If Yuichi
and Eriko represent as gentle light, the ex boyfriend would be bright light like the sun. He was also a
relief for her and she still liked him, but she did not desire a bright light: she desired a gentle light.
According to the book, Mikage said When my grandmother died the other day, I was taken by surprise
(Yshimoto Banana. 04). The line is written as if it were someone else s affair. In other words, she was
not prepared to accept the sudden grandmother s death at first. However, she was able to accept her
grandmother s death gradually while spending time with Yuichi and Eriko. They did not do anything
to her, they just stood side by her and spent slowly time together. she needed this time. They became
the second family for her. Eriko would be like Mikage s grandmother for Mikage and Yuichi would be
a comrade. She would be strongly attracted to the two because they had something like her. In
particular, Yuichi was a big trigger to accept my grandmother s death, and his presence had become

Best Practices and the Sdlc
It has long been accepted that constant change is fundamental to IT. While most IT managers
understand that change is part of the norm, the organizations that employ them often resist it.
Successful IT development calls for having a clear blueprint for proper IT direction of an organization.
By using a System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model and sound best practice methods, an IT
manager can define that blueprint and make the best possible IT decisions.
According to http://www.bigpedia.comthe SDLC relates to models or methodologies that people use
to develop systems, generally computer systems. A number of SDLC models have been created:
waterfall, fountain, spiral, build and fix, and rapid prototyping. There is not a definitive ... Show more

Less than six months after the process started, the best practice tag was awarded to Eglin Air Force
Base in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. They were allowed to implement their procedures Air Force wide. In
the end, Eglin saved the Air Force six million dollars with its best practice procedures. As the term
best practice has become more popular, some organizations have begun using best practices to refer to
what are in fact rules, causing creativity to hamper.
This will never be the case with Google. Google believes that giving their employees freedom to move
about the company without middle management following them around has actually prompted
creativity. In a interview with CBS News Sunday Morning, Google CEO Sergey Brin explained that
Google provides free gourmet breakfast, lunch and dinner all prepared by gourmet chefs. They get
free medical care, daycare, and there is even a massage chair in the lobby. All of these benefits spur
creativity, which has made Google one of the World Wide Web pioneers. Google does not use best
practice because they are too rigid and do not allow employees to think outside the box . Some best
practices are needed though. This was the case with Microsoft and Netscape. They used a synchronize
and stabilize method created by David Yoffie and Michael Cusumano to orchestrate a massive
overseeing and managing of source code. This method allowed the two corporations to work
efficiently in a parallel.

The Importance Of The Hawthorne Effect
In middle school and high school, everyone at some point or another ends up playing the game would
you rather with their friends. This game can potentially show a side of someone that their friends may
not know about them. For example, if there is a girl, Suzie, and her friends give her the choice of,
would you rather date Jake or Thomas? Her friends may not know that she has a crush on Thomas and
if she answers truthfully, then they would possibly find out about the crush. This example is a small
portion of what the big picure is with this game, it is meant to help show who you really are and what
your personality is and what your preferences are. The question at hand now would be would I rather
have someone follow me around all day while I go about my daily routine undergoing an objective
test, or take a series of projective tests. I would definitely go with a series of projective tests. Since I
have a pretty good grip on what my personality is and what type of person I am, I am very prone to the
Hawthorne Effect. The Hawthorne Effect is a type of reactivity where the individual changes their
behavaior becuase they are aware they are being watched (Rosenberg and Kosslyn, 2014). If I was
going to have someone follow me around all day while I do my daily activities, I would not be acting
like my normal self because I would know that I am being watched for a study. Some other reasons
why I would not go with the objective test is because there are four different

The Congo African Grey Parrots
The Congo African Grey parrots are a wonderful breed of bird. They are commonly between 26 to 32
cm in length and usually around 450g. They are grey in colour, with a solid black beak, and a red tail.
The average lifespan for a Congo African Grey parrot is 50 years old, though they have been know to
live to around 80 years old.
Congo African Grey parrots are renowned as being one of the most intelligent birds. Congo African
Grey parrots have an excellent ability to talk and to mimic sounds and words. While they are very
intelligent, aware, and quick to learn birds, they can also be sensitive and mischievous. Congo African

Perches are very important for Congo African Grey parrots as they spend most of their time on them,
when they are not flying. The perches should be of varying diameters, though for a primary perch, the
Congo African Grey parrots feet should wrap about ¾ of the way around the perch. Perches set on
opposite ends of the aviary or cage without obstacles in the way is a good idea as it allows for flight.
The perches should be made of varying materials (such as branches from safe trees such as fruit trees,
rope). The perches should be situated so that the parrot s tail does not hit the bars. Perches should not
be situated to allow access to the food and water dishes, but not over them, as this can cause hygiene
issues.
Congo African Grey parrots are social creatures, they need company of their same breed. To stop
breeding same sex birds can be kept together, or it can be discouraged by not providing a nesting box.
Veterinary advice should be sought if there is any help needed to stop the birds breeding. Along with
company, the Congo African Grey parrot needs plenty of space to fly freely.
Congo African Grey parrots are incredibly intelligent birds, they need plenty of stimulation in the
form of interactive toys, puzzles, bells, and varied bird safe toys to keep them entertained. The toys
and puzzles should be sturdy enough and large enough for the Congo African Grey parrot to play with,
without it breaking or being swallowed. Toys and

their promises of flexibility into concrete deals. Pascal Lamy, the Director General of the WTO

In the negotiations USA and European Union were expected to cut the subsidy they were providing to

Gender Pay Gap In The United States
The gender pay gap in the United States has been a tensely debated topic since the Equal Pay Act of
1963. Although the Equal Pay Act requires equal pay for men and women, the issue of the gender pay
gap has been a heightened issue as time has progressed. Phyllis Schlafly, Mark J. Perry, Anita Little
and Sheryl Sandberg each address the gender pay gap in dynamically different ways. Phyllis Schlafly
and Mark J. Perry firmly believe that the gender pay gap is entirely created by life choices that women
make. While Anita Little and Sheryl Sandberg argue that the pay gap is caused by external forces.
Each author addresses: creation of the wage gap, the severity of the wage gap and the viability of a
solution.
First, many people have argued that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two scholars from American Enterprise Institute, Mark Perry and Andrew Biggs, share similar
opinions with Schlafly about child bearing and its impact. Mark Perry and Andrew Biggs wrote the
article titled, The 77 Cents on the Dollar Myth About Women s Pay . Perry and Biggs agree with
Schlafly that having children does not benefit women s salaries and the gender wage gap. Biggs and
Perry claim that when mothers leave the workforce to take care of their children it creates a
disadvantage to them. They explain that when the mothers return the workforce, they have less work
experience than similarly aged males (5). They correlate experience with wages; saying that new
mothers will not have as much experience, which will lead to a smaller paycheck when they return.
Perry and Biggs also argue that new mothers are less appealing to employers because their male
counter parts who are of similar age, will have more experience than them (5). The employers may
feel that the new mothers may not be as qualified or become as successful as a man. Ultimately, like
Schlafly they argue that women who choose to have children are willingly creating part of the wage
gap because they are choosing to have limited experience in exchange for

Psychological Egoism Theory Essay
The theory of psychological egoism is indeed plausible. The meaning of plausible in the context of
this paper refers to the validity or the conceivability of the theory in question, to explain the nature and
motivation of human behavior (Hinman, 2007). Human actions are motivated by the satisfaction
obtained after completing a task that they are involved in. For example, Mother Teresa was satisfied
by her benevolent actions and activities that she spent her life doing. As Hinman (2007) points out, she
was likely to reduce in activity if she experienced any dissatisfaction in her endeavors.
Therefore, no matter how much altruism theorists try to argue about the degree of inclination of an
action towards non self interest, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his argument, Hinman (2007) asserts that every action that people engage in is motivated by self
interests or pleasure or direct benefits the agent or to avoid living with guilt in the future. This is the
nature of human beings. Even the most altruistic action is in actual sense motivated by the egocentric
desire of the actor (Hugh, 1898).
Hugh (1898) further argues that people recognize that they are motivated, in most if not all cases by
their need to advance their self interest. However, when they reflect on this issue, they are mistaken by
the urge to believe that the truth is the centrally of this. Actions that are meant to show concern for
other people, such as helping the needy are self satisfying to the actor, and they expect that they will
their reputation in the society and obtain returned favors. A good example is that of political aspirant
who might engage in a lot of philanthropic activities in his community to win the support of his
constituents.
Helping people is a noble thing to do especially when it comes to the application of natural justice,
where human beings help those who are suffering. There is always a hidden intention in every action
that is obscured by the notion of philanthropy. Returned favors expectation might not be the ultimate
intention as to why people may perform an act (Michael, 1978). However, it will be illogical to say
that these intentions were

What does success look like? Would a presentation or debrief workshop be the most useful way of
disseminating findings? Will you need a series of presentations for different audiences? Will you
require an interim debrief or an executive summary? Do you need feedback in a very succinct format
to facilitate a quick decision? Do you require any specific outputs e.g. multiple printed copies of
presentations/reports, data tabulations, SPSS data files, an online portal to host the deliverables?

WHEN DOES THIS NEED TO HAPPEN?
One of the most important factors to include in the research brief is timings. When are interim and/or
final results required? Do you need to meet key internal or external deadlines? Are these fixed? this
can influence choice of methodology/approach and sample sizes It has a major bearing on reporting
formats It also allows the agency to assess capacity and their ability to resource the project effectively
Clients should be aware that complex studies, particularly those involving international markets
require several days turn around time for proposal design and cost estimates. If in doubt, ask your
agency for advice.

Introduction
In today s fast evolving technological environments, capacity planning is confronted with what may
be the biggest challenge facing capacity planning and management is the migration to cloud
computing. The objective of capacity planning in IT is to provide quality computing services to users
in a way that makes fiscal sense to the company (TeamQuest, 2010). The difficulties introduced by
cloud based structures address the question of whether an organization should use capacity
evaluations. Businesses use these evaluations in making decisions on their needs. Cloud computing is
based on the idea of a shared computing, storage, network, and application resources all provided by a
third party. This paper will explain what motivates a company a company to perform computer
capacity evaluations.
Capacity Planning Challenges
Capacity planning is challenging for many organizations, as there are a whole host of alternatives
available. In the past, the tough decisions were essentially in reference to server capacity. There was
no major issue in having too much capacity. The Cloud is steadily changing technological and
computing environments when it comes to evaluating capacity needs. Before the Cloud, to measure

Thurgood Marshall s Influence
Thurgood Marshall s impact and influence started at a young age with the development and guidance
from his parents, William and Norma. They taught both he and his brother the importance of education
and to think and learn. It was his father that exposed Thurgood and his brother to the aspects of the
courtroom and the bases and practices of law. Their father would often get both of them engaged in
discussions concerning cases observed in the court and promoted the need to debate their case. Both
their parents were engaged in the boys lives an ensured education was a priority ( Thurgood Marshall,

What Is The Literary Analysis OfThe Republic Of Plato
The Republic of Plato is a fiction about a conversation. This conversation bridges a huge amount of
topics, most regarding concepts of justice or goodness. The points of the book seemingly is to sort out
what makes a good man and what makes a good city. God men and good cities, Socrates and friends
conclude, must fit a myriad of criteria. During the course of this fiction the idea of fiction itself comes
up, specifically idea s about using imitation as an art and how it makes a man and city just or unjust.
Plato speaking as Socrates delivers a few idea s about this which all develop as he builds his city and
the characters figure that imitation in poetry is wholly unjust. In the end, Socrates sets up idea s about
the regulation of art that contradicts what Plato is doing, but he does this to beckon the reader to
specific meaning in the book itself. The Republic of Plato is told through the lens of Socrates, this is
established on the first page of narrative through notation. Socrates: I went down to the Piraeus (327a)
the book reads. Although short, this is important regarding the fact that this notation changes the novel
into a dialogue, it implies that Socrates is the one narrating. Plato is in effect imitating Socrates. This
becomes increasingly interesting as the discourse about the just city and justice itself progresses.
Socrates and friends agree that poets won t he use a narration like the one we described a little while
ago concerning Homer s verses, and

The Idea Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830
Indian Removal Many people today would question whether the Indian Removal Act of 1830 was
constitutional or not. While the idea took many years to develop, it was in fact, a traumatic experience.
When prompted to do so, the Indians of their own land were forced to leave everything they had ever
known and walk along what is known as the trail of tears . This was a one thousand mile trek that took
about two months to complete. According to Steven Mintz chapter titled, Indian Removal thousands
of Natives were lost along the long, treacherous walk. Those who refused to walk were eventually
forced to, by being bound together and marched in a double file line down the Trail of Tears. Whether
or not it was safer for the Indians to leave their home, it was torture. They were forced to endure
things that no human should ever have to go through. Were the Indians forced to leave, because the
Americans were too concerned with their own being? Many people today question this, as it has
happened many different times in history with many different minorities and groups of people. What
makes Americans so much better than anyone else? The first person to raise the idea of the Indian
Removal was Thomas Jefferson. In Peter Onuf s book, The Mind of Thomas Jefferson , he notes that
Jefferson initiated the idea of the removing process westward. (106). However it was not until Andrew
Jackson became president that this process took effect. In the beginning, the idea of removing the

Pay Day Loan Research Paper
Any loan resulting in a release of cash during times of immediate financial crises would be termed as
best payday loan. It is only after the purpose for which the loan was taken gets satisfied that we start
thinking critically of the loan. It will be wrong to term this tendency as selfishness. Payday loans are
actually made dearer by loan providers. Many borrowers actually decide to take loans at any terms
stated by the lenders because of the urgency involved in the situation. Lenders will not miss to profit
of this opportunity. Thus, we find best payday loans costing dearly to its borrowers. High rates of

loan.

Depending on the needs of the borrowers and the lending policy adhered to by the lender, the
borrowable amount may further go upwards. These funds will be used by borrowers to expend with
ease.
Payday loans are short term loans. The amount has to be returned with the interest within a month;
sometimes within weeks. Lenders may employ different methods to get back the money. The most
popular of these is the post dated cheque system. The cheque is dated for presentation on the desired
date. On the specific date, the amount is automatically cut from the borrowers account. For this
purpose, some loan providers would require the borrower to have a checking account.
The post dated cheque may also serve as collateral. In this sense, Best payday loans may also be
regarded as secured loans. Borrowers, who desire to have best payday loans without the clause of
collateral, will have to further search the UK financial market. The concept of unsecured payday loans
is fast catching up with lenders in the UK, and it may not be much difficult to have best payday loans
without collateral.
There are certain essentials that the borrower needs to have in order to become eligible for best payday
loans. The borrower needs to be employed with a regular income that is transferred directly into his
bank account. The borrower must have a chequebook and a checking account as mentioned before.
An important advantage of best payday loans is that credit history

Zara broad offering meets its customer s demands quickly. This is due to management s almost
instantaneous response to changes in customers needs (Ghemawat et al, 2006).
Zara s prices consider the cost of exporting and market conditions of the store s location (D Andrea et

Zaras inventory turnover is higher than their direct competition (at 10.67% versus H amp;M at 6.84%)
(D Andrea et al, 2003). Constantly changing stock encourages sales and increase the average visits to
stores per customer (Kotler et al, 2009).

Traditional supply chains take a supplier centric/push view with a focus on what a business is trying to

The Contribution Of The Volunteer
Introduction to the volunteer
Diana Dickson (pseudonym) is a 48 year old female, born and raised in New Zealand who works as a
microbiologist in a large urban hospital in Auckland. She is happily married and has three grown
children two girls and one boy. She currently lives with her husband and her youngest son. At age 20,
Diana had a lump in her left ankle which was surgically removed . The lump was misdiagnosed as
spitz nevus when it was in fact malignant melanoma. According to literature, melanoma is the most
serious type of skin cancer which progresses quickly and can be life threatening. If not diagnosed
early or is misdiagnosed, the cancer can spread (metastasis) to other parts of the body (Brown,
Edwards, Seaton Buckley, 2015). Diana received the correct diagnosis ten years later when she
discovered another lump in her left groin, which made the doctors looked at the biopsy slide of the
previous lump on her ankle and confirmed that it originated from there. At age 40, she had the lump

Video Games Help Children With Special Educational Needs
This paper explains how video games help children with special educational needs, should children
have certain technologies (I.e. phones, tablets, etc.) readily available, and what children enjoy about
playing video games. [METHODS?] The findings from this research are that children s fascination in
video games, whether with typical development or not, mainly involves the thrill of challenges and the
feeling of achievement when winning. When playing video games, children do learn alternate ways to
solve problems. Children who play video games may think and learn differently than those who do not
play. Those who tend to cheat in a video games may also do the same when academics are involved. A
child s academic ethics and effort seems to reflect when playing video games. In other words, children
who play a video game with minimal effort seem to give the same amount of effort when academics
are concerned. My conclusions include that technology is good for children with special educational
needs, it is helpful for young children in that it gives them the tools that they need for success (being
bilingual in the technological language), and that it helps children cognitively by finding new ways to
solve problems.
Technology s Impact on Childhood Development
Ever since video games were introduced to the world, the topic on whether or not they benefit or
decline a child s progress was a concerning and alarming question. This topic has steadily grown in

Research Paper On Malala Yousafazi
Malala Yousafzai: Fighting For Education
The right to education is one important fundamental that everyone should have the ability to have, but
most times that right is denied. Where I live; in a small town, everyone that I know goes to school, I
believe everyone has an opportunity to proceed into their own education. Some people don t take
education for granted and might not even realize the importance of it. There s many reasons why
people, states or countries may not take education seriously. Pakistan is one country that has the most
restrictions on education towards women. Malala Yousafazi is a young girl activist that stood up for
her people in Pakistan to retrieve the rights of education to women.
There are many countries where culture or religion can sometimes deny certain peoples right to have
an education, restricting them from going to school to learn. Those countries don t see the benefits
people can get from learning new languages, or learning their own history. One of these countries that
do such restrictions of education is Pakistan. In the country of Pakistan, some people think that there is
no use of education, it s unnecessary for girls to go to school and be able to learn. Instead the girls
should be at home where they can help their mothers cook and clean to become a better women in ...

Biopsychosocial Factors Of Mental Health And Occupations
Mental Health and Occupations
Aspasia Manettas
Mercy College
October 2017
Abstract
Two types of medical interviews are the biomedical approach, involving only biological factors, and
the biopsychosocial approach that includes both psychosocial factors and biological factors. Because
of the psychosocial factors in the latter approach, the medical practitioner can build a bond with the
patient and treat them as a whole. Social factors such as a patient s occupation play a huge role in
mental health. Occupations can cause stress on someone s body and mind, leading to mental illnesses
such as depression and anxiety. Knowing patients on a more personal level can strengthen the
outcome of their diagnosis and treatment.
There are two model approaches to patient interviewing in the medical field. The biomedical interview
approach, and the biopsychosocial interview approach. The biomedical approach focuses only on the
biological effects on health and medicine. This approach is faster and sees a higher quantity of
patients. According to Science The Need for a New Medical Model: A Challenge for Biomedicine, the
biomedical model, ...assumes disease to be fully accounted for by deviations from the norm of
measurable biological (somatic) variables (Engel 130). The biopsychosocial approach, on the other
hand, focuses not only on the biological effects, but also the psychological and social effects on health
and medicine as well. This approach digs deeper into the patient s history, uses more variables, and
finds the source of the problem and solves it. According to the article Reflections on a New Medical
Cosmology, the biopsychosocial approach ...gives recognition to the difficulties and distortions
involved in framing qualitative issues, whether psychological or social, in quantitative terms, and so
provides a separation between those appropriately... (Greaves 82). It is often seen that because the
biomedical approach does not include psychological and social factors, much information is left out,
and the patient and medical professional cannot fully make a connection with each other. It is
important to form a trustworthy bond with patients so that you

Essay The Fur Trade Period in the Indian Territory
The Fur Trade Period in the Indian Territory
Images of rough faced, Grizzly Bear fighting, firewater drinking, yarn spinning, frontiersmen form in
the minds eye. Wild men for wild times! To a degree this image is true, but the fur trade was more
than wild men. The fur trade was a business, conducted by businessmen. The wilder men living on the
frontier chose trapping. Fashion created the fur trade as businessmen sought to satisfy the tastes of
designers and customers back east and in Europe, where furs and hides were necessities for
fashionable clothing and accessories. Fashions also affected the Indians who sought, silver, vermillion,
glass beads, and clothe from traders. Each group depended on the other to supply the resources. ...

In 1824, due to escalating conflicts between Osages and eastern tribes, the government constructed Ft.
Gibson at the mouth of the Neosho on the Arkansas River, thus adding government settlers or
merchants to the mix of traders and changing trade practices in the area forever. Should peace be
restored, the different tribes would turn their attention altogether to hunting, consequently the
Arkansas River would become as valuable highway as the Mississippi and Missouri for the
transportation of furs and other articles of Indian trade, A.P. Chouteau.
As the Civilized Tribes were being relocated, the U.S. army sent expeditions west. While preparing for
one such expedition, Washington Irving in his journal A Tour of the Prairies recounts the scene at
Chouteau s trading post as; a few log houses on the banks of the river, surrounded by a group of
Osages simple in garb and aspect, a party of Creeks quite oriental in their appearance, a sprinkling of
trappers, hunters, half breeds, Creoles, Negroes, and other rabble of nondescript beings between
civilized and savage life .
The fur trade also took place along the Red River. Here no one trader dominated like the Chouteau
family of the three forks area. Independent traders established posts along the Red River to trade with
the Kiowas and Comanches and the Choctaws and Chickasaws. Josiah Doaks began a small post near
the junction of the Kiamichi and Red Rivers in 1821.

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Is Cheaper From Scratch Or From A...
As a frugal cook, I often make things from scratch rather than buying a mix or packaged food item.
This works well in many cases, but in others, it s actually cheaper to buy the pre packaged item.
Recently, I decided to look at whether spaghetti sauce is cheaper from scratch or from a can. Canned
vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Price Looking at price alone, it s actually an easy call. At Winco
Foods, I bought 26.5 ounce can of Del Monte Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce for 78 cents. At most stores,
in fact, I can find canned spaghetti sauce for one dollar or less per can. For comparison purposes, I
also purchased one 14 ounce can and one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce, and one four ounce can of
mushrooms (stems and pieces). This came to over a dollar and that doesn t even include the onions,
herbs and spices that I already had at home. In terms of price alone, the canned spaghetti sauce is
obviously the better buy. But for me, there s more to it than that. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti
Sauce: Taste and appearance Do my family and I actually prefer the canned sauce or the homemade
sauce? Based on taste and appearance, I would favor the homemade sauce. The canned sauce is overly
sweet, and the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce are nearly invisible they must be finely minced
(probably leftover bits from something else). Homemade sauce has tasty chunks and pieces of
mushrooms, and I control the herbs and spices, adjusting them to my family s taste. Canned vs.

Tap Dance History
After hundreds of years of evolution and development, tap dancing has become a truly authentic
American artform. However, no two people can agree on exactly how or where the discipline began.
Emmy award winning tapper Jason Samuel Smith still holds an enormous amount of respect for the
history of his artform. Tap culture is all about celebrating the past and accumulating its vocabulary
over time, he says. If we don t maintain our history, we lose what is valuable about tap. Despite the
questionable and often debated origin of tap, the discipline stems directly from African roots due to
articulate rhythmic and stylistic patterns of African dance, techniques consisting of gliding, shuffling
and dragging steps, and the introduction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drummers collaborated with the dancers in such a way that they were able to communicate with each
other through different rhythms and changes in pitch and tone. African dances were extremely
sophisticated, both stylistically and rhythmically. The rhythmical elements of the dances conveyed
conventional rhythms found in various nature patterns. More often than not, these dances were very
repetitive, much like the cycles of life(Knowles). It was this conversational exchange between drums
and feet, drummers and dancers, that evolved into tap. Time step, a basic tap step, was based on
asymmetrical balance, an important aspect to African expression. It includes six measures of repetitive
rhythmic phrasing, along with two measures of rhythm breaks. Often times, the swaying motion used
tended to cause the accented steps to fall on the second and fourth beats of a sequence. Through their
steady patterns of assimilation, imitation, and transformation, tap was created(Source 17).
A common theme to their dances was society s affinity with the Earth. The most common step in
African dancing, which would later become the most basic step in tap dancing, was an example of this
symbiotic relationship. In order to stay connected with the power of the Earth, dancers would keep
their feet close to the dirt. Flatfootedness created steps that consisted of dragging, gliding, and
shuffling step(Knowles). Today s tap clearly resembles African dance because it often utilizes drags,
slides, and

War doesn t determine who s right, it only determines who s left, however, war can mean different
things to different people in some examples, it may be heroic to fight for your country where for
others it is devastating and dehumanising. The films such as The Pianist by Roman Polanski to
Blackadder Goodbyeee demonstrate how the war dehumanises people while the American sniper and
Dulcie et show that war can be heroic and great to fight for your country. Which signifies that the
motives you have for fighting a war determines your attitude towards it.
American sniper is a film by Clint Eastwood it is an inspirational film, which shows the behind the
scenes of war and shows how he acts during war and how he reacts to it afterwards we see Chris Kyle

into depression. When Chris Kyle s wife makes him go to the counsellor to talk about his problems he

The Dangers Of Animal Rights
Animal Rights Animal Rights isn t something that should be taken lightly. There s animals in many
places that are neglected, and unloved. The most reported cases of abuse is from dogs, cats, horses,
and livestock. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly related with other crimes, including violence
against people(Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). I have three dogs, two of my dogs are rescues from
situations similar to what you will read in my paper. Why are animals not given the same rights as
humans? I want to know why people feel the need to hurt animals. I want to understand why it would
even cross their minds to hurt a defenseless animal. I read this from an article online. I found it
shocking, and made me sick to my stomach. Earlier this week, Paul Rogers from Gloucestershire was
jailed for 16 weeks after he admitted that he had microwaved his pet rabbit. Rogers a man with a
history of psychiatric problems claimed he carried out the act because he was angry at not being
prescribed some medication that he said he needed. But what typically possesses anyone to inflict
such acts of intentional animal torture and cruelty? (IATC) There are many types of IATC including
individuals that do it: as a religious ritual sacrifice; as an artistic sacrifice (e.g. killing animals in films
such as the controversial Cannibal Holocaust); because they have psychological disorders (such as
antisocial/psychopathic personality disorders and engage in deliberate acts of zoosadism),

Allocation Rates And Its Effects On The Current Allocation...
allocation rates to make them more efficient. Second, policy makers could change allocations to
reflect more accurate precipitation rates along with being more efficient. Third, a market based system
could be implemented allowing for tradeable water rights much like the market system in Australia.
All of these policy options would solve the inefficiencies in the current allocation rates. They would
not solve the supply and demand complications due to the ongoing drought or growing populations.
The first option would simply change the allocation of water making it more efficient and removing
any potential deadweight loss that may otherwise exist. The second option would merely make
allocation rates more efficient by basing them off of more accurate precipitation amounts. The third,
would make it easier for water rights to be traded, leading to a more efficient outcome through trading
rather than mandating consumption amounts.
Method
To start with the first policy option an effort must take place to test the efficiency of current allocation
rates. In an attempt to do so, a simple model will be used to determine what an efficient allocation
would be. To further simplify the model, it will consist of only Upper and Lower basins, averaging
statistics taken from the states located within each basin. This simple model will allow variables to be
changed to help identify how they interact with the efficient allocation of water. To perform this
model, it is necessary to have a demand

White Collar Crime And Organized Crime
Introduction: This paper explores white collar crime and elaborates on the types of organized crimes
through the analysis of case studies. Furthermore, I will also discuss the differences and similarities
between professional crime and organized crime. White collar crime is the use of deceptive acts to
solely benefit oneself, often leaving many victimized. Within this paper, I explain which theories best
clarify why individuals partake in these criminal behaviors, and preventative methods. In addition, I
will state my opinion on the severity of white collar crime and organized crime.
Description: According to Sutherland, the definition of white collar crime is violations of the law
committed by a person of high social status within the course of their otherwise respectable
occupation, business, or profession . Within this definition Sutherland places a significant amount of
emphasis on a few key words. The first key word is of high social status, which excludes those
individuals who are of middle class and lower echelons. Secondly, the deception must occur within the
business setting. White collar crime has a damaging impact on the social morale because it causes
individuals to lose trust in financial institutions, which sends negative images to the middle and lower
class. Without the use of investing, it creates a hindrance to the growth of the economy. Moreover,
many of those victimized do not know they were taken advantage of, and can those their life savings

Literary Analysis Of Miss Brill
In the short story Miss Brill an elderly woman sits in a park, romanticizing about all the possible
scenarios that are taking place around her. This story has many central themes, the main one, of
course, being perception. Miss Brill is a very perceptive woman, which is continuously showcased by
her being able to pick up on, and closely observe, the different narratives transpiring in the park. Miss
Brill was able to see the humour in these performances , however, ironically, she failed to see that she
herself was the subject of a joke. Through continuously romanticizing reality, and focusing only on
one s own point of view, one runs the risk of becoming oblivious to the way others view one s self.
Aforementioned, Miss Brill, an elderly woman, sits in a park within walking distance of her residence,
and observes. That is essentially the sum of the story, the shortened version. This is because she is
likely very lonely, as shown by the author, literally in the name, Miss Brill. Not Ms. Brill, not Mrs.
Brill, but Miss, which is done to emphasize that she is unmarried. The purpose of this is to point out
that she doesn t have anyone of significance in her life and that she is probably lonely. This is
important because it points out why someone, in their right mind, would want to sit around a park all
day and watch people. Except she doesn t just watch them, she dreams up narratives and ponders the
possible conversations they re having, and gives them a role to fill in her

The Regulation And Taxation Of Marijuana Act
November,8, 2016 the ballots were dispersed and votes were submitted. Question four on the ballot
was known as the The Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act. The numbers came in and beginning
December 15, 2016 in Massachusetts, individuals above the age of twenty one will now be able to
legally purchase, possess, cultivate, and use marijuana, with limitations on quantity, for recreational
and medicinal use under the statutes of the state laws. While the prohibition of marijuana in
Massachusetts has ended, many new movements must now begin to maintain, regulate, and pursue a
positive outcome. With other states that have already passed such laws, such as Colorado,
Massachusetts will begin to piggyback off their models. Developing a system that will hopefully come
to fruition of all the possibilities and benefits this new law has promised. One of the greatest appeals
of this law was the revenue that would be brought in from the sales of products of marijuana. Not only
will the Commonwealth be able to implement an excise tax of 3.75%, there will also be an optional
local sales tax of up to two percent of the total sales price by the retailer that will be directly applied to
the city or town in which it was implemented. All revenue including state taxes, application and
licensing fees, and civil fines will be placed in a Marijuana Regulation Fund and distributed for the

the U.S. military has not been able to effectively combat the occurrences of sexual assault. Billions of
taxpayer dollars have been thrown at the problem, programs have been implemented and task forces
have been mobilized. To combat this epidemic, the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and

Removing the authority from the victim s COC is believed to reduce bias and the fear of retaliation by
commanding officers (COs). Within 180 days of the enactment of the bill, administrative hierarchies
will convene to create policies and procedures to adhere to the mandates of S.1752. Within the
deadline, policies and procedures will be disseminated to the lowest level in memorandum format
(Military Justice Improvement Act, 2013). Victims of sexual assault are intended to be empowered to
safely and confidentially report a crime to their COC and be assured that justice will be served without

Essay? HOOK:
The story Blue Winds Dancing by Thomas S. Whitecloud demonstrates the experience of a native man
transitioning to his life into a white society. It exhibits the internal and external struggles in the native
s life that he encounters throughout his life. However, the native is an outcast and has a longing to go
back to his native reserve. In comparison, Angel Levine by Bernard Malamud describes the life of a
Jewish man, named Manischevitz, who lost everything: his children, his business, and his wife
because of her fatal illness. He reaches out to God, but there is no response which also leads him to

Manischevitz is distraught when a Black Angel appears to help, and he realises that all hope is lost.
This negatively affects Mr. Manischevitz because he seeks affirmation from God, although, he does
not believe in the black angel s powers. This leads Manischevitz down a spiral where he smote to the
naked bones, cursing himself for having believed in God to help him in his time of need. On the other
hand, in Blue Winds Dancing, the native also undergoes an internal conflict; the native feels alone and
lost in the White world. He feels like an outsider with no place in the white world that he desperately
wants to accept him. The native compares himself to a hobo because they both are outsiders because
they cherish different things from a typical white man. Additionally, the native in the story does not
have a name to symbolize that his experience is very similar to many other natives who want to be
apart of the white world. Overall, the native is having an Identity crisis because he does not know
whether to acculturate and become like every other white man or go back to the blanket because it is
familiar to him. He longs for home because he does not agree with the white man s customs of getting
a hill and wanting a mountain . He wants to return back home where people can be free and the native
can truly be himself. These internal conflicts are similar because both protagonists encounter identity
crises which cause them to seek affirmation in their faith

Analysis Of The Book Zeitoun By Dave Eggers
I am currently a Junior at Mills High School and I m also enrolled in the AP Language and
Composition class. For our summer assignment, we were assigned to read Zeitoun by Dave Eggers,
which recounts the story of a Muslim American man named Abdulrahman Zeitoun who remained in
New Orleans during 2005 s deadly Hurricane Katrina. While trapped in the city, Zeitoun paddles in his
canoe in the flooded streets aiding those who are in danger; however, Zeitoun is suddenly arrested

Kathy. This controversy divided my class into two distinct advocates: some of my classmates support

Two Negative Impacts Of Transnational Corporations On...
Explain TWO negative impacts of transnational corporations on developing countries.
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to explain why the impacts of transnational corporations on developing
countries are important to understand. Transnational corporations are large companies that have a head
office in one country and subsidiary offices in other countries. They affect all countries; however, they
affect developing countries on a much larger and damaging level. This is because developing countries
are poorer, many people have a lower standard of living, and the resources available and the amount to
hire an employee is significantly lower that one of a developed country. The two negative impacts
caused by transnational corporations that will be discussed in this report are sweatshops and life
expectancy. These impacts are important to understand because they educate us on how the world of
trade is influenced by sweatshops, and how sweatshops effect an individual s life.
Globalisation
The impacts of globalisation are happening around us every day, with or without us realising it.
Globalisation is the breakdown of traditional barriers between nations, and a trend towards faster and
cheaper movement around the world of people, goods, money and information.
As shown in the figure, many different factors are impacted and impact globalisation. Economic
globalisation consists of the growth and development of international trade. This is the process of

A Subarachnoid Hemorrhages
A Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, or SAH, is devastating and usually has a traumatic outcome. Basically,
an SAH is bleeding that occurs between the brain and what surrounds it. This surrounding area is
known as the arachnoid, thus the reasoning behind the name. The main cause of SAH is cerebral, or
brain aneurysms, because aneurysms usually have more fragile walls than normal vessels, putting
them at more of a risk to rupture. Subarachnoid hemorrhages are not something to be taken lightly, as
they have many dangers. Many people lack awareness of the dangers accompanied with subarachnoid
hemorrhages as soon as they occur, during the treatment of them, and even with life after surviving the
hemorrhage. First, as soon as a subarachnoid hemorrhage occurs, there are many dangers to consider.
While a brain aneurysm may not have any symptoms, an SAH does and they are unfortunately very
sudden. Since an SAH is bleeding from the arteries, the rupture causes abrupt bleeding. From The
Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Ms. Julia Barrett describes that the immediate danger caused by
subarachnoid hemorrhages would be ischemia. She states, Ischemia refers to tissue damage caused by
restricted or blocked blood flow. The areas of the brain that do not receive adequate blood and oxygen
can suffer irreparable injury, leading to permanent brain damage or death, thus agreeing that danger is
present from the very start with subarachnoid hemorrhages (Barrett). The rapid bleeding outside of the
brain

Ap European Film Essay
Europe is the home of many nations. It is also the home of philosophical, political and cultural
movements. Mainly because of its advantage of having a western civilization before anyone else is
currently named as the Old Continent (Lewis and Wigen, 1997, p.29). The fact that there is a
considerate amount of movements of all classes in Europe created many borders and national
sentiments. Although in recent times and culturally speaking, and in film specifically, there is a
defined map that splits the industry in two: Hollywood, which is popular entertainment, the norm or
the classic , and Europe, which is art; this is seen in the study of film as a cultural phenomenon, film
theory, where the studies are well stablished in Britain and the ... Show more content on

The creation of this homogenous world causes a bubble where the integration of national economies,
markets and cultures concedes to an essentially American dominated culture (Wayne, 2002, p.2). This
import and export of culture, the bubble, and alimented by Globalization itself, brings about that
Hollywood captures around 70% of British film market, for example, and the British film industry
captures only 1% of the American market (Elliot, 2000). Jameson comes to the problematic assertion
that consumption of Hollywood films breaks up the seamless web of habits and habitual practices of a
national culture.
A critique of this argument was made by John Tomlinson where he notes that discussions of cultural
domination often locate the media as central to cultural imperialism (Tomlinson, 1991, p.29). It seems
that when we reach a higher level of Globalization the enemy of the difference is the transnational
system itself (Jameson, 1998, p.74). This all come to the fact that Hollywood films playing in
European cinemas or in television makes a clear distinction between media products (films, television,
radio, books...) and culture (repertoire of a national meaning). In this particular aspect Tomlinson
notes that:
media texts of Western origin are massively present in other cultures. But the key question is, does this
presence represent cultural imperialism? Clearly the sheer presence alone does not. A text does not
become culturally significant until it is read (Tomlinson, 1991,

A Summary, Analysis and Discussion of Søren Kierkegaard,...
A summary, analysis and discussion of Søren Kierkegaard, Training in Christianity[1]
I. Introduction
In this essay, I will try to summarize, analyze and discuss several pages of Søren Kierkegaard s
Training in Christianity. I will try to focus on his approach to sacred history, a general Christian
history and Christianity, which he discusses in this work in relation to faith in God. In other parts of
this essay I will attempt also to relate these pages of his work to some key ideas of Kierkegaard s
theology and philosophy and support this with some concrete quotations from the text. In the end I
will very briefly compare different philosophies of Hegel and Kierkegaard and try to relate
Kierkegaard s work to a few topics, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christian has according to Kierkegaard nothing to learn from general history, teaching Christian
history in schools is therefore pointless. [...] true Christians [...] have nothing to do with Christians of
former generations, but everything to do with contemporary Christ. [9] So does the history of
Christianity of over 1800 years in Kierkegaard s time (over 2000 in ours) have any significance at all?
To this question would Kierkegaard probably give answer: No , as he gives answers to few similar
questions he asks himself.
Firstly, he tries to give answer on question whether Jesus is always the same or he has changed in
history and whether we can learn anything about him from history. To this question Kierkegaard
responds: Yes, He is the same yesterday and today. [10] Therefore we can not learn anything new
about him from history; we can know him only from sacred history. This means we can know God
only as humbled, as lowly one, [11] but never as the one, who is in glory and who will in glory come.
about His coming again nothing can be known; in the strictest sense, it can only be believed. [12]
Secondly, Kierkegaard asks himself, if one can prove from history that Christ was God. Here he
answers: No. He argues that it is impossible to prove this using reason, because we can only prove that
something is against reason and

Lil Mama Research Paper
Niatia Lil Mama Kirkland has had many roles throughout her career. She s a dancer, an actress, an
entertainer and television personality. But many now only know her as a meme, or a played out joke.
Lil Mama s first single, Lip Gloss came out in 2007 and was the game changer for her becoming
career. Lip Gloss had all of the makings of a one hit wonder a catchy beat, a less catchy dance to
accompany it, and an everyday item, lip gloss, as its focal point. Although, her flow wasn t bad and
her dance moves were on point, people didn t quite know what to do with Lil Mama during her
breakout years. She was a teenage girl demanding to be taken seriously in an industry dominated by
adult men, and seemed to be caught in pop culture limbo, not bubbly enough, but also not quite real
enough for us to really care about. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2009, while still riding her Lip Gloss popularity, Lil Mama attended the MTV Video Music Awards,
as Jay Z and Alicia Keys performed their infamous song Empire State of Mind, where Lil Mama made
a decision that set her career on a downhill path. Beyoncé tried to stop her, but she pushed her way,
uninvited, onto the stage with two of the biggest names in entertainment at the time. It was awkward,
as Jay Z confirmed that it was an unwelcomed attempt to gain attention. It was also the moment that
the public decided that Lil Mama was merely a joke. Too many people Lil Mama s VMA stunt made
her seem as a clueless outsider who was either too cocky or too ill advised to think that she could
share the stage with such huge names in the industry. What makes things worse is this incident just so
happened to correspond with the Internet s shift from tech geeks exclusively to a mainstream social
media commodity and Lil Mama, as the stage crashing third wheel became the visual foundation of
too many jokes; that never

While most IT managers understand that change is part of the norm, the organizations that employ them often resist it. This game can potentially show a side of someone that their friends may not know about them. For example, if there is a girl, Suzie, and her friends give her the choice of, would you rather date Jake or Thomas? Her friends may not know that she has a crush on Thomas and if she answers truthfully, then they would possibly find out about the crush. This example is a small portion of what the big picure is with this game, it is meant to help show who you really are and what your personality is and what your preferences are. The question at hand now would be would I rather have someone follow me around all day while I go about my daily routine undergoing an objective test, or take a series of projective tests. I would definitely go with a series of projective tests. Since I have a pretty good grip on what my personality is and what type of person I am, I am very prone to the Hawthorne Effect. The Hawthorne Effect is a type of reactivity where the individual changes their behavaior becuase they are aware they are being watched (Rosenberg and Kosslyn, 2014). They correlate experience with wages; saying that new mothers will not have as much experience, which will lead to a smaller paycheck when they return. The meaning of plausible in the context of this paper refers to the validity or the conceivability of the theory in question, to explain the nature and motivation of human behavior (Hinman, 2007). Human actions are motivated by the satisfaction obtained after completing a task that they are involved in. For example, Mother Teresa was satisfied by her benevolent actions and activities that she spent her life doing. As Hinman (2007) points out, she was likely to reduce in activity if she experienced any dissatisfaction in her endeavors. In his argument, Hinman (2007) asserts that every action that people engage in is motivated by self interests or pleasure or direct benefits the agent or to avoid living with guilt in the future. This is the nature of human beings. Even the most altruistic action is in actual sense motivated by the egocentric desire of the actor (Hugh, 1898). Hugh (1898) further argues that people recognize that they are motivated, in most if not all cases by their need to advance their self interest. However, when they reflect on this issue, they are mistaken by the urge to believe that the truth is the centrally of this. Actions that are meant to show concern for other people, such as helping the needy are self satisfying to the actor, and they expect that they will their reputation in the society and obtain returned favors. A good example is that of political aspirant who might engage in a lot of philanthropic activities in his community to win the support of his constituents. Helping people is a noble thing to do especially when it comes to the application of natural justice, where human beings help those who are suffering. There is always a hidden intention in every action that is obscured by the notion of philanthropy. Returned favors expectation might not be the ultimate intention as to why people may perform an act (Michael, 1978). However, it will be illogical to say that these intentions were ... This conversation bridges a huge amount of topics, most regarding concepts of justice or goodness. The points of the book seemingly is to sort out what makes a good man and what makes a good city. God men and good cities, Socrates and friends conclude, must fit a myriad of criteria. During the course of this fiction the idea of fiction itself comes up, specifically idea s about using imitation as an art and how it makes a man and city just or unjust. Plato speaking as Socrates delivers a few idea s about this which all develop as he builds his city and the characters figure that imitation in poetry is wholly unjust. In the end, Socrates sets up idea s about the regulation of art that contradicts what Plato is doing, but he does this to beckon the reader to specific meaning in the book itself. The Republic of Plato is told through the lens of Socrates, this is established on the first page of narrative through notation. Socrates: I went down to the Piraeus (327a) the book reads. Although short, this is important regarding the fact that this notation changes the novel into a dialogue, it implies that Socrates is the one narrating. Plato is in effect imitating Socrates. This becomes increasingly interesting as the discourse about the just city and justice itself progresses. Whether or not it was safer for the Indians to leave their home, it was torture. They were forced to endure things that no human should ever have to go through. Were the Indians forced to leave, because the Americans were too concerned with their own being? Many people today question this, as it has happened many different times in history with many different minorities and groups of people. What makes Americans so much better than anyone else? The first person to raise the idea of the Indian Removal was Thomas Jefferson. In other words, children who play a video game with minimal effort seem to give the same amount of effort when academics are concerned. My conclusions include that technology is good for children with special educational needs, it is helpful for young children in that it gives them the tools that they need for success (being bilingual in the technological language), and that it helps children cognitively by finding new ways to solve problems. Technology s Impact on Childhood Development Ever since video games were introduced to the world, the topic on whether or not they benefit or decline a child s progress was a concerning and alarming question. Biopsychosocial Factors Of Mental Health And Occupations Mental Health and Occupations Aspasia Manettas Mercy College October 2017 Abstract Two types of medical interviews are the biomedical approach, involving only biological factors, and the biopsychosocial approach that includes both psychosocial factors and biological factors. Because of the psychosocial factors in the latter approach, the medical practitioner can build a bond with the patient and treat them as a whole. Social factors such as a patient s occupation play a huge role in mental health. Occupations can cause stress on someone s body and mind, leading to mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. Knowing patients on a more personal level can strengthen the outcome of their diagnosis and treatment. There are two model approaches to patient interviewing in the medical field. The biomedical interview approach, and the biopsychosocial interview approach. The biomedical approach focuses only on the biological effects on health and medicine. This approach is faster and sees a higher quantity of patients. According to Science The Need for a New Medical Model: A Challenge for Biomedicine, the biomedical model, ...assumes disease to be fully accounted for by deviations from the norm of measurable biological (somatic) variables (Engel 130). The biopsychosocial approach, on the other hand, focuses not only on the biological effects, but also the psychological and social effects on health and medicine as well. This approach digs deeper into the patient s history, uses more variables, and finds the source of the problem and solves it. According to the article Reflections on a New Medical Cosmology, the biopsychosocial approach ...gives recognition to the difficulties and distortions involved in framing qualitative issues, whether psychological or social, in quantitative terms, and so provides a separation between those appropriately... Essay The Fur Trade Period in the Indian Territory The Fur Trade Period in the Indian Territory Images of rough faced, Grizzly Bear fighting, firewater drinking, yarn spinning, frontiersmen form in the minds eye. Wild men for wild times! To a degree this image is true, but the fur trade was more than wild men. The fur trade was a business, conducted by businessmen. The wilder men living on the frontier chose trapping. Fashion created the fur trade as businessmen sought to satisfy the tastes of designers and customers back east and in Europe, where furs and hides were necessities for fashionable clothing and accessories. Fashions also affected the Indians who sought, silver, vermillion, glass beads, and clothe from traders. Each group depended on the other to supply the resources. ... Gibson at the mouth of the Neosho on the Arkansas River, thus adding government settlers or merchants to the mix of traders and changing trade practices in the area forever. Should peace be restored, the different tribes would turn their attention altogether to hunting, consequently the Arkansas River would become as valuable highway as the Mississippi and Missouri for the transportation of furs and other articles of Indian trade, A.P. Chouteau. As the Civilized Tribes were being relocated, the U.S. army sent expeditions west. While preparing for one such expedition, Washington Irving in his journal A Tour of the Prairies recounts the scene at Chouteau s trading post as; a few log houses on the banks of the river, surrounded by a group of Osages simple in garb and aspect, a party of Creeks quite oriental in their appearance, a sprinkling of trappers, hunters, half breeds, Creoles, Negroes, and other rabble of nondescript beings between civilized and savage life . The fur trade also took place along the Red River. Here no one trader dominated like the Chouteau family of the three forks area. • 28. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Price Looking at price alone, it s actually an easy call. At Winco Foods, I bought 26.5 ounce can of Del Monte Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce for 78 cents. At most stores, in fact, I can find canned spaghetti sauce for one dollar or less per can. For comparison purposes, I also purchased one 14 ounce can and one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce, and one four ounce can of mushrooms (stems and pieces). This came to over a dollar and that doesn t even include the onions, herbs and spices that I already had at home. In terms of price alone, the canned spaghetti sauce is obviously the better buy. But for me, there s more to it than that. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Taste and appearance Do my family and I actually prefer the canned sauce or the homemade sauce? Based on taste and appearance, I would favor the homemade sauce. The canned sauce is overly sweet, and the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce are nearly invisible they must be finely minced (probably leftover bits from something else). Homemade sauce has tasty chunks and pieces of mushrooms, and I control the herbs and spices, adjusting them to my family s taste. Canned vs. Homemade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, no two people can agree on exactly how or where the discipline began. Emmy award winning tapper Jason Samuel Smith still holds an enormous amount of respect for the history of his artform. Tap culture is all about celebrating the past and accumulating its vocabulary over time, he says. If we don t maintain our history, we lose what is valuable about tap. Despite the questionable and often debated origin of tap, the discipline stems directly from African roots due to articulate rhythmic and stylistic patterns of African dance, techniques consisting of gliding, shuffling and dragging steps, and the introduction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drummers collaborated with the dancers in such a way that they were able to communicate with each other through different rhythms and changes in pitch and tone. African dances were extremely sophisticated, both stylistically and rhythmically. The rhythmical elements of the dances conveyed conventional rhythms found in various nature patterns. More often than not, these dances were very repetitive, much like the cycles of life(Knowles). It was this conversational exchange between drums and feet, drummers and dancers, that evolved into tap. Time step, a basic tap step, was based on asymmetrical balance, an important aspect to African expression. It includes six measures of repetitive rhythmic phrasing, along with two measures of rhythm breaks. Often times, the swaying motion used tended to cause the accented steps to fall on the second and fourth beats of a sequence. Through their steady patterns of assimilation, imitation, and transformation, tap was created(Source 17). A common theme to their dances was society s affinity with the Earth. The most common step in African dancing, which would later become the most basic step in tap dancing, was an example of this symbiotic relationship. In order to stay connected with the power of the Earth, dancers would keep their feet close to the dirt. Flatfootedness created steps that consisted of dragging, gliding, and shuffling step(Knowles). The most reported cases of abuse is from dogs, cats, horses, and livestock. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly related with other crimes, including violence against people(Animal Cruelty Facts and Stats). I have three dogs, two of my dogs are rescues from situations similar to what you will read in my paper. Why are animals not given the same rights as humans? I want to know why people feel the need to hurt animals. I want to understand why it would even cross their minds to hurt a defenseless animal. I read this from an article online. Second, policy makers could change allocations to reflect more accurate precipitation rates along with being more efficient. Third, a market based system could be implemented allowing for tradeable water rights much like the market system in Australia. All of these policy options would solve the inefficiencies in the current allocation rates. They would not solve the supply and demand complications due to the ongoing drought or growing populations. The first option would simply change the allocation of water making it more efficient and removing any potential deadweight loss that may otherwise exist. The second option would merely make allocation rates more efficient by basing them off of more accurate precipitation amounts. The third, would make it easier for water rights to be traded, leading to a more efficient outcome through trading rather than mandating consumption amounts. Method To start with the first policy option an effort must take place to test the efficiency of current allocation rates. In an attempt to do so, a simple model will be used to determine what an efficient allocation would be. To further simplify the model, it will consist of only Upper and Lower basins, averaging statistics taken from the states located within each basin. This simple model will allow variables to be changed to help identify how they interact with the efficient allocation of water. To perform this model, it is necessary to have a demand ... • 34. White Collar Crime And Organized Crime Introduction: This paper explores white collar crime and elaborates on the types of organized crimes through the analysis of case studies. Furthermore, I will also discuss the differences and similarities between professional crime and organized crime. White collar crime is the use of deceptive acts to solely benefit oneself, often leaving many victimized. Within this paper, I explain which theories best clarify why individuals partake in these criminal behaviors, and preventative methods. In addition, I will state my opinion on the severity of white collar crime and organized crime. Description: According to Sutherland, the definition of white collar crime is violations of the law committed by a person of high social status within the course of their otherwise respectable occupation, business, or profession . Within this definition Sutherland places a significant amount of emphasis on a few key words. The first key word is of high social status, which excludes those individuals who are of middle class and lower echelons. Secondly, the deception must occur within the business setting. White collar crime has a damaging impact on the social morale because it causes individuals to lose trust in financial institutions, which sends negative images to the middle and lower class. Without the use of investing, it creates a hindrance to the growth of the economy. Moreover, many of those victimized do not know they were taken advantage of, and can those their life savings due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This story has many central themes, the main one, of course, being perception. Miss Brill is a very perceptive woman, which is continuously showcased by her being able to pick up on, and closely observe, the different narratives transpiring in the park. Miss Brill was able to see the humour in these performances , however, ironically, she failed to see that she herself was the subject of a joke. Through continuously romanticizing reality, and focusing only on one s own point of view, one runs the risk of becoming oblivious to the way others view one s self. Aforementioned, Miss Brill, an elderly woman, sits in a park within walking distance of her residence, and observes. That is essentially the sum of the story, the shortened version. This is because she is likely very lonely, as shown by the author, literally in the name, Miss Brill. Not Ms. Brill, not Mrs. Brill, but Miss, which is done to emphasize that she is unmarried. The purpose of this is to point out that she doesn t have anyone of significance in her life and that she is probably lonely. This is important because it points out why someone, in their right mind, would want to sit around a park all day and watch people. Except she doesn t just watch them, she dreams up narratives and ponders the possible conversations they re having, and gives them a role to fill in her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction The purpose of this report is to explain why the impacts of transnational corporations on developing countries are important to understand. Transnational corporations are large companies that have a head office in one country and subsidiary offices in other countries. They affect all countries; however, they affect developing countries on a much larger and damaging level. This is because developing countries are poorer, many people have a lower standard of living, and the resources available and the amount to hire an employee is significantly lower that one of a developed country. The two negative impacts caused by transnational corporations that will be discussed in this report are sweatshops and life expectancy. These impacts are important to understand because they educate us on how the world of trade is influenced by sweatshops, and how sweatshops effect an individual s life. Globalisation The impacts of globalisation are happening around us every day, with or without us realising it. • 46. A Subarachnoid Hemorrhages A Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, or SAH, is devastating and usually has a traumatic outcome. Basically, an SAH is bleeding that occurs between the brain and what surrounds it. This surrounding area is known as the arachnoid, thus the reasoning behind the name. The main cause of SAH is cerebral, or brain aneurysms, because aneurysms usually have more fragile walls than normal vessels, putting them at more of a risk to rupture. Subarachnoid hemorrhages are not something to be taken lightly, as they have many dangers. Many people lack awareness of the dangers accompanied with subarachnoid hemorrhages as soon as they occur, during the treatment of them, and even with life after surviving the hemorrhage. First, as soon as a subarachnoid hemorrhage occurs, there are many dangers to consider. While a brain aneurysm may not have any symptoms, an SAH does and they are unfortunately very sudden. Since an SAH is bleeding from the arteries, the rupture causes abrupt bleeding. From The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Ms. Julia Barrett describes that the immediate danger caused by subarachnoid hemorrhages would be ischemia. She states, Ischemia refers to tissue damage caused by restricted or blocked blood flow. The areas of the brain that do not receive adequate blood and oxygen can suffer irreparable injury, leading to permanent brain damage or death, thus agreeing that danger is present from the very start with subarachnoid hemorrhages (Barrett). The rapid bleeding outside of the brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Ap European Film Essay Europe is the home of many nations. It is also the home of philosophical, political and cultural movements. Mainly because of its advantage of having a western civilization before anyone else is currently named as the Old Continent (Lewis and Wigen, 1997, p.29). The fact that there is a considerate amount of movements of all classes in Europe created many borders and national sentiments. Although in recent times and culturally speaking, and in film specifically, there is a defined map that splits the industry in two: Hollywood, which is popular entertainment, the norm or the classic , and Europe, which is art; this is seen in the study of film as a cultural phenomenon, film theory, where the studies are well stablished in Britain and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The creation of this homogenous world causes a bubble where the integration of national economies, markets and cultures concedes to an essentially American dominated culture (Wayne, 2002, p.2). This import and export of culture, the bubble, and alimented by Globalization itself, brings about that Hollywood captures around 70% of British film market, for example, and the British film industry captures only 1% of the American market (Elliot, 2000). Jameson comes to the problematic assertion that consumption of Hollywood films breaks up the seamless web of habits and habitual practices of a national culture. A critique of this argument was made by John Tomlinson where he notes that discussions of cultural domination often locate the media as central to cultural imperialism (Tomlinson, 1991, p.29). It seems that when we reach a higher level of Globalization the enemy of the difference is the transnational system itself (Jameson, 1998, p.74). This all come to the fact that Hollywood films playing in European cinemas or in television makes a clear distinction between media products (films, television, radio, books...) and culture (repertoire of a national meaning). In this particular aspect Tomlinson notes that: media texts of Western origin are massively present in other cultures. But the key question is, does this presence represent cultural imperialism? Clearly the sheer presence alone does not. A text does not become culturally significant until it is read (Tomlinson, 1991, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. A Summary, Analysis and Discussion of Søren Kierkegaard,... A summary, analysis and discussion of Søren Kierkegaard, Training in Christianity[1] I. Introduction In this essay, I will try to summarize, analyze and discuss several pages of Søren Kierkegaard s Training in Christianity. I will try to focus on his approach to sacred history, a general Christian history and Christianity, which he discusses in this work in relation to faith in God. In other parts of this essay I will attempt also to relate these pages of his work to some key ideas of Kierkegaard s theology and philosophy and support this with some concrete quotations from the text. In the end I will very briefly compare different philosophies of Hegel and Kierkegaard and try to relate Kierkegaard s work to a few topics, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christian has according to Kierkegaard nothing to learn from general history, teaching Christian history in schools is therefore pointless. [...] true Christians [...] have nothing to do with Christians of former generations, but everything to do with contemporary Christ. [9] So does the history of Christianity of over 1800 years in Kierkegaard s time (over 2000 in ours) have any significance at all? To this question would Kierkegaard probably give answer: No , as he gives answers to few similar questions he asks himself. Firstly, he tries to give answer on question whether Jesus is always the same or he has changed in history and whether we can learn anything about him from history. To this question Kierkegaard responds: Yes, He is the same yesterday and today. [10] Therefore we can not learn anything new about him from history; we can know him only from sacred history. This means we can know God only as humbled, as lowly one, [11] but never as the one, who is in glory and who will in glory come. about His coming again nothing can be known; in the strictest sense, it can only be believed. [12] Secondly, Kierkegaard asks himself, if one can prove from history that Christ was God. Here he answers: No. He argues that it is impossible to prove this using reason, because we can only prove that something is against reason and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Lil Mama Research Paper Niatia Lil Mama Kirkland has had many roles throughout her career. She s a dancer, an actress, an entertainer and television personality. But many now only know her as a meme, or a played out joke. Lil Mama s first single, Lip Gloss came out in 2007 and was the game changer for her becoming career. Lip Gloss had all of the makings of a one hit wonder a catchy beat, a less catchy dance to accompany it, and an everyday item, lip gloss, as its focal point. Although, her flow wasn t bad and her dance moves were on point, people didn t quite know what to do with Lil Mama during her breakout years. She was a teenage girl demanding to be taken seriously in an industry dominated by adult men, and seemed to be caught in pop culture limbo, not bubbly enough, but also not quite real enough for us to really care about. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2009, while still riding her Lip Gloss popularity, Lil Mama attended the MTV Video Music Awards, as Jay Z and Alicia Keys performed their infamous song Empire State of Mind, where Lil Mama made a decision that set her career on a downhill path. Beyoncé tried to stop her, but she pushed her way, uninvited, onto the stage with two of the biggest names in entertainment at the time. It was awkward, as Jay Z confirmed that it was an unwelcomed attempt to gain attention. It was also the moment that the public decided that Lil Mama was merely a joke. Too many people Lil Mama s VMA stunt made her seem as a clueless outsider who was either too cocky or too ill advised to think that she could share the stage with such huge names in the industry. What makes things worse is this incident just so happened to correspond with the Internet s shift from tech geeks exclusively to a mainstream social media commodity and Lil Mama, as the stage crashing third wheel became the visual foundation of too many jokes; that never ...
