The films, The Magnificent Seven , and, Seven Samurai , essentially portray the same events in
action, especially in the introductory scene. However, The Magnificent Seven , portrays the
western version while Seven Samurai takes place in an eastern village. The films also choose a
different order to show events and to go about each event. They do, however, portray the same
basic idea: an innocent villagefaces bandits who have no intentions besides pillaging and stealing

scene I have chosen to compare between the two films is the introduction scene. I have chosen to
analyze and compare this scene from each film because while they show direct similarities in
events as well as camera angles, the films differ in many ways as well. The scene in, The
Magnificent Seven, begins with the bandits riding in on horses over a hill top towards a village
to the tune of peppy western music. This scene is shot as a far away angle and is done so with
no verbal communication, almost as if the bandits all have one common goal and they do not
have to discuss with one another to know that is their intentions. This leads to the viewer being
required to view the scene as a whole and consider what the intentions of these men must be and
why they feel that way. When the men arrive to the village, the viewer is given little to no
information regarding the village. The viewer then begins to wonder: Who are these people? ,

Evaluative Analysis: The Shawshank Redemption When it comes to movies, I am not exactly
what you could consider well versed. Had it not been for several close friends of mine, I would
have never even seen blockbuster hits such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, or Back to the
Future. The reason for this is not because I dislike watching movies, but rather due to the restrictive
nature of my parents. Thus, I have not had the privilege to enjoy The Shawshank Redemption,
Frank Darabont s 1994 adaptation of the Stephen King novel, until recently. Due to countless
positive reviews and the recommendations of friends, I anticipated that it would be a must see for
those mature enough to appreciate its commentary on the human condition. After viewing the flick,
I can certainly verify The Shawshank Redemption deserves its must see status, as it contains such
relatable themes and excellent cinematic techniques. Various themes are presented in the film;
however, the most prevalent of these themes are the severity of isolation and the redeeming

Swimming Is Not A Natural Act
Most people believe that the most efficient and effective way to lose weight is either by jogging
or running. They think this because running is done on land, involves very hard movements of the
arms and legs, and their heartrates are going at 5 beats per second. People always seem to forget
that a better, easier and less vigorous way to get fit is through swimming. Swimming is moving
your body through a body of water, either a pool or ocean, using your arms and legs, while running
is moving quickly on land with your feet. Swimming is not a natural act but a learned talent.
According to Dr. Howard Wainer, a swimmer and statistician at the Educational Testing Service in
Princeton, N.J., the human bodywas not meant to move quickly through water.
Most people believe that its harder to run than to swim but the fact is that it s harder to swim. In
swimming water acts as the resistance while in running, air is the resistance. Water is a lot thicker
than air which makes it harder to move through. When running, performance peters out as the
distances get longer but in swimming the pace is consistent regardless of the distance.

Themes Of Just Mercy And All American Boys
Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson and All American Boys by Jason Reynolds are connected, not
only by their similar story lines but by the theme and moral lessons each book puts forward. Just
Mercy, A Story Of Justice And Redemption, is written from the viewpoint of Mr. Stevenson as he
goes through many people s cases trying to give them the justice they deserve. All American Boys
is the story of a young teenage boy who is beaten up by a cop because it is believed he is stealing a
bag of chips.
The first connection between the two novels is the moral lessons they try to teach the reader. There
are many lessons to be learned from these books from don t assume things, to friends and family
are extremely important. In Just mercy on page 40 Mr, Stevenson tells a story of him coming home
late one night after a long day at work. He stepped on the sidewalk, circled behind my parked
car, and came up behind me while the other officer continued to point the gun at me. He grabbed
me by the arms and pushed me up against the back of my car. The officer then lowered his
weapon. What are you doing out here? said the second officer, who seemed older than the one who
had drawn his weapon. this quote reminds me of the beginning of All American boys where Rashad
is explaining exactly what happened at Jerry s on Friday. Both of these events show how people
are quick to assume things and take action before they find out what is really going on. The
officers in Just Mercy don t believe Mr.

Forgive In The Sunflower
Forgive, not because they deserve forgives, but because you deserve peace. It s not easy to stop
blaming someone s fault, especially for someone who do wrong to us. In the book The
Sunflower written by Simon Wiesenthal, a survivor of the Holocaust during World War II, he
described his conflict with Karl, a dying Nazi soldier who killed many innocent Jews and
begging for forgiveness for his outrageous crime at the end of his life. At the end of this sad and
tragic episode, Simon did not response to Karl s request directly; instead he left us a tough

War II, he deserved forgiveness because the scientific experiment explains that Karl s behaviors
were led by human being. The most two related experiments to shows Karl s actions in
psychological ways are taken by Stanley Milgram and Philip Zimbardo. In Milgram s
experiment, it showed that subordinates would have a tough time if they go against orders. More
specifically, Milgram displayed the data that twenty five out of forty subjects choose to fully obey
the order even though their actions would be harmful for learners (Milgram 64). This experiment
displayed a persuasive evidence to show that people attend to follow the command from the
authority; even the order might have conflict with their humanity. Just like in Karl s case, he
