Feminist Perspectives In Margaret Atwood s The Penelopiad
The Penelopiad: through a feminist lens Margaret Atwood was born on the 18th of November
1939 in Ottawa, Canada. She is a writer and a poet, and has written more than 40 books, poems
and critical essays. She studied at Victoria College, University of Toronto, Radcliff college and
Harvard university. She has been an English teacher at different universities and has won countless
of writing prizes throughout her career (Biography, Margaret Atwood). One of her most known
writing piece is The Penelopiad. The Penelopiad novella was published in 2005, it is a book on the
Canongate myth series. The Canongate myth series is a series of short novels in which ancient
myths are reimagined and rewritten by contemporary authors ( The Canongate Myth Series ). The
Penelopiad is based on Homer s The Odyssey Penelope, the wife of Odysseus, tells her story when
Odysseus was away at war. She explains how her life was in Ithaca and the story of the twelve
maids. Although Margaret Atwood has not stated she is a feminist, her work speaks for itself.
Throughout the novella there is a sense of feminism. Margaret Atwood s work has been known
for being feminist, Penelope s life and personality give a powerful view on the feminist aspect of
this novella. Margaret Atwood has written some great stories, apart from The Penelopiad one of
her most famous published work is The Handmaid s tale. The handmaid s tale is about a dystopian

The Potato Peeler Analysis
The Potato Peeler (1885) (Fig. 1) (reverse: Self Portrait with a Straw Hat) (1887) (Fig. 2) by
Vincent van Gogh (1853 1890) is one of many paintings that lack highly saturated hues and
colors by van Gogh. Many have a misconception that his darker and less saturated paintings come
from a short time in his life when he experimented with dark colors; the reality is that his more
saturated paintings were not developed until the last four years of his life and his less saturated
pieces come from a longer period in his life. Given how different the two pieces are, one can
assume they are unrelated; but they really show how much he grew as an artist and how much he
challenged himself to move from less saturated still lifes, portraits, etc. to... Show more content on

Much, if not all, of his work before 1886 was very similar; he used vibrant color infrequently if it all
and painted dark landscapes, still lifes, and portraits (like The Potato Peeler). It was not until he
left for France in 1886 that he decided to focus more on himself, thus transforming his style into
what we recognize more easily today. There seems to be a misconception that he had always
painted with vibrant colors and little thick strokes; but he only painted using vibrant and highly
saturated colors for a brief time in his life as stated before. Van Gogh was influenced by Jean
François Millet to paint rural scenes. In the winter of 1884 to 1885, van Gogh painted more
that 40 portrait studies of peasants, including The Potato Peeler (Department of European
Paintings). These studies would then lead to his piece The Potato Eaters as seen in Fig. 3. Van
Gogh was inspired to portray rural life this way because he intended to relay to the viewers a
feeling of the coarseness of rural life (Stotland, 387). Van Gogh was more focused on life around
him and depicting it in a more humanistic way. Although the use of light and shadow may be
exaggerated to some extent, the color stays accurate to what humans do look like. A few more
minor pieces were painted after in the same style as The Potato Peeler; but after his move to
France, his style changes to the more vibrant and impressionist style we know today. Van Gogh had
realized that the style of

Black Boy And Interpreter Of Maladies
To develop a profound understanding of a society, one must analyze the two key aspects of
civilization: the people themselves and their values. In Richard Wright s Black Boy and Jhumpa
Lahiri s Interpreter of Maladies, alienation creates a platform to better understand society s
assumptions and moral values. In these texts, multiple characters suffer from isolation due to
gender, race, class, or beliefs. Throughout the works, readers encounter the shallow and unforgiving
nature of society through characters who face poverty, racism, and cultural adjustment. The
characters in Lahiri s work, Interpreter of Maladies, exemplify the struggle for assimilation, a key
factor which drives many to isolation. In the short story When Mr. Pirzada Came... Show more

likelihood when at least one of these is present. While these findings are not perfect for

The Kennewick Man Summary
Based on the research conducted by the Forensic Anthropologist Chatters on the skeletal remains of
the Kennewick man, he seems to be a European migrant. The man definitely belonged to the
western hemisphere, as definitive characteristics indicate so. Furthermore, he could belong either to
the east or to the west of the Atlantic, since forensic studies indicate that his diet was strongly
composed of Anadromous fish fish born in the sea and lives in fresh water, before returning to the
sea to spawn. As the video The first Americans Part 1 mentions the European roots that the
Kennewick man had, I would agree with the claims of the forensic anthropologist that the man had
a European descent. The video also mentioned that Native Americans themselves

My Passion For Pursuing Medicine
Complaining of an excruciating stomach ache, a 4 year old Hispanic female, my younger sister,
was my first case. It was second nature to treat her symptoms. I prescribed two Oreos and a glass
of milk and within seconds she was miraculously cured. Smiling from cheek to cheek with her
black teeth, the case was a success. This diagnosis occurred ten years ago. Since then my motivation
for pursuing medicinehas evolved from the simple desire to wear a snazzy lab coat and stethoscope,
to my passion for science especially biology. It is what drives me to become a licensed physician. It
wasn t the smell of the crisp spring air that captured my attention. It was the potent odor of
embalming chemicals that accelerated my pace as I walked to class.

Telehealth Analysis
The use and applications of telehealth services have expanded over the past decade, along with
the role of technology in improving and coordinating care. Telehealth has improved capabilities to
reduce travel time, increase access to specialty care, and improve patient safety, quality of care,
and provider support.1 Traditional models of telehealth involve care delivered to the patient at a
series of originating (or spoke) sites from a specialist working at a distant (or hub) site.
Public and private payers already reimburse providers for certain services delivered through
telehealth, and the shift from the fee for service system to accountable care organizations and
bundled care in the United States has the potential to increase utilization ... Show more content on

Tele stroke is another area of tele emergency care that has been the subject of several studies
assessing its effectiveness.5 Acute ischemic stroke is a potential candidate for telehealth
interventions because of the need to reach patients within the golden hour and the specialized
expertise needed to decide whether to administer intravenous recombinant tissue type plasminogen
activator (tPA) to remove the clot.5 The American Heart Association Stroke Council recommends
that tele stroke networks should be adopted, to eliminate geographic disparities in care that may
occur as a result of limited resources, manpower shortages, and long distances to specially trained
providers. 5 A recent survey identified 56 active tele stroke programs in the United States, with the
majority of spoke sites being small, rural hospitals.6 Published studies on tele stroke, however,
often focus on larger, more urban networks, likely due to their larger patient volumes and data

Delta s attempted method of dissolution would have ultimately lost because of two factors: 1) lack
of understanding of the Spanish culture and preference, as well as, 2) their lack of restaurant
experience. Further, it would decrease the chances of future successes in Spain since their
dissolution strategy will certainly be known across many industries and political networks. This
would make Delta s ability to establish new contacts, find and purchase property, apply for a food
license, hiring qualified local managers, gaining new customers and opening new stores a difficult
and costly undertaking.
As stated by Costas, Delta has insufficient capital for its planned expansion (BRS p.12) which is
required if it was to venture on its own in Spain. No longer having a partner, Delta would be
required to put up 100% of the costs necessary to expand the business, rather than the 50%
previously required. Without the contacts Terralumen has, these costs would likely rise as well. The
real estate market requires extensive knowledge, and without this knowledge, they will likely pay a
large premium.

Second Great Awakening Definition
The Second Great Awakening accentuated belief and impacted later change developments, for
example, those concerning moderation, instruction, ladies rights, and eradication. The Second
Great Awakening and the reform developments that grew all through the historical America had to
do with enhancing the ethical strength of the country. The Great Awakening was a spiritual
development, so these changes happened in light of the fact that liquor, education, ladies rights,

situations for ladies. The way that ladies had few rights conflicted with religious convictions of
correspondence amongst all individuals. Eradication emerged in light of the fact that subjection did
not, by any methods, concur with Christianity. Reformers needed to regulate to structures of the
country that disregarded their conventional good and social qualities; and servitude was
unquestionably an issue. Abolitionist reformers contended that slave proprietors were two timers,
on the grounds that in the event that they felt that a Christian could treat all people with affection

The Weather Of Panama City Beach
The weather in Panama City Beach, Florida, is beautiful in June. Though the twelve hour trip
down there seemed very long and boring, the trip was ultimately worth it. There are a lot of
interesting things to do in Panama City Beach, Florida. The first thing that we did when we
finally got there, was to check into the hotel and take our stuff to the room, which was on the first
floor facing the beach. It had three rooms. One had the kitchenette, a couch, and a bed with a TV
mounted on the wall across from it. The second room had two beds and a TV mounted on the
opposite wall. In between the two rooms was the bathroom. After we finished looking around the
rooms, we went out to the white sandbeach through the sliding glass doors in the first room to
watch the sunset. The colors of the sunset against the light green water were amazing. The reds,
oranges, and yellows seemed more vibrant next to the color of that water. It made me wonder
why people don t just stay on the beach for the rest of their lives. I knew that I would have
happily stayed there forever just to see sunsets like that every night for the rest of my life. We
stayed on the beach until the sun was completely gone and the sky was dark. After the beach was
completely dark and quiet, we headed back to the hotel. The hotel had many things to do inside.
The first thing we did when we got back inside was go to the front desk to see all the activities that
they had at our hotel. We decided that we wanted to do the

Creative Expression in Hunduism Essay
Creative expression in Hinduism is often incorporated through rituals and daily tasks. Hindu
women have the opportunity to express themselves creatively through the daily creation of kolams,
also known as Rangoli. Kolams are intricate drawings that serve as a proclamation to the world of
various meanings, and also a unique form of communication, dependent on their design. These
kolams can express many meanings such as announcing that their home is welcome to others,
announce special events, worship deities, and celebrate festivals.

The presence or absence of the kolam on the front stoop is equivalent to announcing that a
household is open or closed to the world, a cultural category that sends off a capacious sense of
hospitableness or hospitality, specifically, the willingness and ability to feed stranger, (Pintchman,
88). This can be interpreted as the idea that the family has a surplus of food and is willing to help
people in the community who need it. This means if there were someone wandering the streets: a
community member, visitor, or stranger, they would read this kolam as a very strong encouraging
sign that they might be able to receive a bowl of hot food or other hospitality from this family.
Another way that kolams can be used is to announce special events for a household, such as
births, deaths, or menstruation cycles. In some households, when a child is born, special
elaborate designs may be made for the kolam of that day, to announce the child s birth. Certain
symbols and figures would be used to indicate that it was the birth of a child. In other castes and
parts of India, the birth of a child may not be announced through the design of a special kolam.
(Pintchman, 89) This is one of the instances that vary if it is announced by kolam or not. If there
is a death in the family, usually there is an absence of a kolam. The same goes for if the woman of
the house is menstruating. It can also be a way of presenting that it is the first

Reflection On Ownership In Pharmacy
Reflection At the first glance to ownership in pharmacy subject, I realized that it s a huge
experience to have. Many thoughts had popped up to my mind with many questions. What is the
best idea for me to start with? Where should I start? What knowledge do I need to have? How will
I finance my project? Is it possible to start my ownershipproject now or should I wait? By reading
more and more about ownership in pharmacythrough this course, I came up with a good vision on
the subject. I knew that there are many types of ownerships in pharmacy such as independent
pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, MTM services, consulting pharmacy, and more. Then, I have read
about being successful, and what I need, to be successful at ownership. Hence, gaining more skills,
such as management, innovation, motivation, and commitment will help me in my career plan.
Because ownership needs more patience and more support, only hard workers are capable to
succeed at ownership. After that, I have read about how to start a new business, and I knew that
it s very important to get an expert advice. It doesn t matter how much experience I have in
pharmacy, because I still need an expert advice. More simply, there are other sides of ownership
that I don t know such as laws and regulations, or things related to accounting. Definitely, I will

Essay about Noam Chomsky s Impact on Language
Modern day linguistics has seen the arrival of many different viewpoints of language. Beginning
with Noam Chomsky, unquestionably one of the most influential figures in recent linguistics, new
theories and ideas have been introduced at a rapid rate. In part due to his status as a revitalizer in
the field, but also due to his often controversial theories, Chomsky maintains a place at the center
of this discussion. His search for a universal grammar and criticism of pure descriptivism have
informed generations of research. Much of this has been reactionary against him, but his influence
can not be discounted. His theories of a universal grammar have inspired writers on both sides of
the debate. Paul Hopper argues against this view, positing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He seeks to find underlying similarities across these distinct languages, to construct a general
theory of a singular language. However, it seems as though he cannot be scientifically vindicated
without the groundwork being laid down by many of the authors that he is critical of. Thus, it is
particularly interesting that Chomsky seems to be so at odds with the idea of descriptivism. When
Chomsky says, Grammar should not be merely a record of the data of usage, but, rather, should
offer an explanation for such data, (587) he is acknowledging the usefulness, presumably to his own
theories, of descriptive linguistics. He in fact recognizes the debt he owes when he says, To me, it
seems that [structural linguistics ] major achievement is to have provided a factual and a
methodological basis that makes it possible to return to the problems that occupied the traditional
universal grammarians... (590) But he goes on to say, On the other hand, it seems to me that the
substantive contributions to the theory of language structure are few, and that, to a large extent, the
concepts of modern linguistics constitute a retrogression as compared with universal grammar.
(590) Where the descriptivists see an end, Chomsky sees only the means, and is somewhat
dismissive of them. Chomsky is relatively blatant in his rejection of these ends. He later states,

The Iranian revolution of 1979 refers to the overthrowing of the last king of Iran. It was an Islamic
revolution which attempted to replace Mohammed Reza Shah, with an Islamic republic under
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution. Strong opposition against the Shah
showed that the people wanted a religious ruler rather than someone they saw as an American
puppet. Many Iranian people would think that the Shah was a capitalist pig who ran a corrupt and
repressive regime but tried to embrace western style democracy. In saying this, Iran was a very

Beowulf And The Epic s Christian Identity
Beowulf and the Epic s Christian Identity
Composed in early eighth century by an unknown author the epic poem Beowulf, follows the
exploits of the protagonist of the same name. Originally composed orally by a tribe s scop, the epic
of Beowulf delivers insight on the lives and adventures of characters that lived in the sixth century.
Although, the tale of Beowulf was formulated during post Roman collapse by presumably pagan
people; written around seven hundred A.D., it is probable that a Christian monk transcribed the
grand narrative implanting Christian motifs and ideals into pagan Scandinavian culture. Therefore,
the result of this concoction is a blended storyline infused with religious imagery and allusion along
with traditional Nordic beliefs of war and honor. The tale, and arguably, the tragedy of Beowulf
illustrate the conflict between the Pagan elements and Christian tenets, as aspects of both are
present in the epic. The underlying Christian and Pagan values in Beowulf illustrate the iniquity of
mankind and its eventual downfall through allusion to god, symbolism, and vices and virtues of
warrior man.
Firstly, Hrothgar s monologue foreshadows the climax and tragedy of man; moreover, Hrothgar s
speech illuminates the end of both warrior and king. For example, after the battle in which Grendel
is defeated, Hrothgar say, First and foremost, let the Almighty father be thanked for this sight. I
suffered a long harrowing by Grendel. But the Heavenly Shepard can work His

The Science Fiction Story, A Reporter

ESS 102
Research Paper In the science fiction story, a reporter goes to board the first public flight to
Mars. He writes about what he experiences such as the feeling of being the first passengers to
Mars, seeing the technologies that recycle water, eating fresh produce in space, and the final
landing on Mars a year later and watching the rovers that landed before him moving about. Many
problems of space travel stem from the fact that supplies are limited in space. A trip to Mars
with current technologies would take eight months to travel to Mars and that is just robotic
missions (NASA 2012a). This presents an obvious problem that a space flight can only carry a
limited amount of food, water, and air. Any system also needs to be powered by electricity.
Current food technology consists of prepackaged food. There are a couple problems that space
food has to be able to solve. One problem is that space food has to not just float around and get
into vents, crevices, and machinery. This is a hazard that scientists have to keep in mind when
making food. Also, it should be long lasting enough to last in space until a resupply. The food the
astronauts eat in the International Space Station right now are all packaged food sent up from
earth. There is freeze dried food which is cooked before being flash frozen and vacuumed. This is
then rehydrated with water when astronauts want to eat. There are wetpacks, which are food
pouches that don t need to be rehydrated like

Electronic Health Care Case Study
The implementation of new information technology systems into existing organizations is not a
new concept as the possible process improvements for a business can be fairly obvious when
compared to more traditional non computer based processes. One sector, which for the most part is
transitioning into using information systems in an attempt to improve processes, is the health
sector. This report observes and analyses multiple real life cases of health care providers from the
United States who have decided to upgrade from traditional paper based patient charts to computer
based Electronic Health Records (EHR). It should be noted that all of the case studies observed in
this report were created by the Centre for Aging Services Technologies who describe themselves as
being focused on development, evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies in the medical
sector. The Centre for Aging Services Technologies is an international group made up of 400
technology companies research universities and government representatives. The United States
government describes Electronic Health Records as being digital versions of a patients paper chart
(Healthit.gov, 2014). Electronic health records typically include information on patients including
the patient s medical history, medications the patient takes, treatment plans, immunization dates,
allergies, radiology images and test results. With this being said it would first seem that EHR s are

Abstract
The article focuses on the model of security engineering, which can be separated into two different
parts: operational and controllable. The operational part of model provides useful data on the
performance of the system. With the collected data, it can lead to creating a better result on the
second part of the model which is to define the security controls. Security control provides the
measurement of the system. For each phase, there is a certain control that needs to be performed.

The second phase is called design phase. Capture the information from the previous phase and

comes after a good understanding of customer s requirements (Alwan, 2015). The design phase is
basically creating an action plan for the rest of the process to follow.
The third phase is called the development phase. In the development phase, the engineers are
focusing on the objectives.
The fourth phase is called the deployment phase. During the deployment phase, the development

Riding Horses And Western Horses
When you decide to start riding horses, you need to choose a discipline. Although versatility is
perfectly fine, you will most likely want to focus on one type of riding. The two main types of
horseback riding are english and western. The following is a guide to english riding. The Horse
English type horses are usually leggier and more athletically built than the stockier western horses.
They are built uphill, which means that their withers are higher than their backs. Horses of any
breed can be ridden english, but the breeds that excel in this discipline are: thoroughbreds,
warmbloods, gaited horses, and Arabians. Stock breeds, such as Quarter Horses and Paint Horses
usually do better when ridden western. The Gaits The gaits in english ridingare faster than those of
western. The three main gaits of english horses are: walking, trotting and cantering. The walk is
obviously the same as western, but english horses often hold their heads higher than western
horses. This isn t a matter of the horse s spirit, but the western horses are trained to carry their
heads a little lower. The horse s trot is a fast, up down gait. The english rider will either sit or
post to the trot. The canter is even faster than the trot, and it is a three beat gait. The rider will
rock their body to go with the movement of the horse. Many people refer to it as the rocking chair
gait. The Rider English riders tend to sit up more on the front of their pelvis, while western riders

Gender Development in Children Essay
There have been many theories and studies in support of the development of gender identity and
gender roles. One major theory was the one put forward by Bandura and his social learning theory.
Bandura s social learning theory states that gender is learnt through direct and indirect
reinforcement. The direct reinforcement is influenced by parents and according to the social
learning theory gender identity is also reinforced through the beliefs and attitudes that the parents
implement within their children through gender stereotypical behaviour. However, gender roles can
also be learnt through observation and modelling of behaviour.
Although Bandura did devise a theory into the explanation of development of gender identity, he did

For example, if a parent encouraging traditional female behaviour by saying to the young girl `Your
look pretty in that dress , through these comments they are reinforcing gender appropriate behaviour.
The influence of peers is also seen as a form of direct gender reinforcement, under the social
learning theory. Again, Bandura did not have any evidence through studies to show that this was
the case, so therefore Lamb and Roopnarnine took up the chance into providing empirical evidence
through the use of an observational method. They observed a group of nursery schoolchildren and
found that the children generally reinforced peers for gender appropriate play by giving them more
attention or imitating and they were quick to criticise gender inappropriate play. So whilst having
your own behaviour reinforced you are also learning by watching others behaviour being reinforced.
These findings support Bandura s suggestion and the idea of learning through imitation and
modelling is certainly present.
According to the social learning theory, the influence of the media in the formation of gender
roles and identity is known as being indirectly and vicariously reinforced. It states that we can
learn gender appropriate behaviour by learning from others. So by having gender stereotypes
portrayed in the media, it has a powerful influence on all of us but especially on children because
they are currently

Pros And Cons Of Police Demand
A1. Factors that are influencing labor demand.
The Mayor of the city has enacted a new policy of increasing police patrols in high crime areas in
an attempt to reduce crime rates. To meet the demands of this policy, 25 additional police officers
are required. Due to staff shortages, the department has been under public scrutiny for its excessive
work hours and overtime burdens that the current staff handles to meet demands.
The police department is experiencing an aging workforce as the average age on the force is 45
years old. Within the next few years 24% of the current force will be eligible for retirement, which
will leave vacancies that will need to be back filled.
An additional factor that affects labor demand is the current labor union contract that requires the
department to provide opportunity to promote from within. Between vacancies left behind from
retirement and promotion changes, it has been noted that approximately one quarter of the current
force will need to be replaced. These three factors increase demand for a large number of new
recruits in this department.
A2. Factors that are influencing labor supply.
Fulfilling the city s need to hire new police officers has been a challenge. One factor that affects
the labor supply is an aging workforce. Some of the best quality candidates come from recent
college graduates and former military personnel. College age adults are choosing to attend out of

Dulce Et Decorum Est By Jessie Pope Analysis
War Poetry Comparative Essay
The saying dulce et decorum est pro patria mori comes from the roman poet Horace in Ode
III.2.13, it translates back to how sweet and fitting it is to die for one s country. When Dulce Et
Decorum Est was first written in 1917, it was directed at the poet Jessie Pope, then the
dedication changed to a certain poetess . However, this dedication was never published as
Wilfred Owen wanted the poem to reach everyone and not just Pope. Pope was a famous WW1
poet best known for her pro war, motivational poems, her most famous being Who s for the Game .
The themes in Dulce Et Decorum Est (DEDE) are war, death and patriotism. Who s for the Game
(WFTG), has the same themes of war and patriotism, but also sports and ... Show more content on

Patriotism is a large part in any piece of war poetry, the two we are analysing show to very
different beliefs. WFTG is very patriotic almost jingoistic whereas DEDE is cynical towards
patriotism. In WFTG lines 16 17 Pope writes Your country is up to her neck in a fight // and she
s looking and calling for you with an emphasis on you . Most lines in this poem start with who ll
and then finally in the last two lines of the poem it changes from who to you. No longer who
will do it, who will save people, now it s changed you will do it. Linking back to the patriotism in
these lines. It personifies the country, as a damsel in distress figure. Something the man can
save, become a hero. But not only this, the use of your this gets the reader to believe that
England is their country and they have to protect what s theirs. Thus using patriotism to get men
sign up for the war without them knowing it. As mentioned earlier Owens view of patriotism in
DEDE are very different from Pope s, almost the exact opposite. This, however, was probably
due to Owens own experience in war, seeing the suffering that he writes about in Dulce Et
Decorum Est . Much like Pope, Owens last lines show his true feeling when it comes to
patriotism. These lines are most likely aimed at Pope, the lines being My friend, you will not
tell with such high zest // To children ardent for some desperate glory // The old lie: Dulce est
decorum est // Pro patria mori. The words in this extract are so harsh and bitter. The word
desperate implies the war is pathetic, not real glory, a pathetic glory. The patronising use of
friend really shows the reader that this poem is not aimed at them but someone else. Owen is
saying to Pope how can you tell these boys, who are so excited for this great war, so prepared to
die, that it is sweet and fitting to die, for your country, when this is what death is in the war. How

Arguably, the decline in religious vocations is not responsible for the decline in Catholic school

A Report Of The Bezymianny Volcano During The Kamchatka...
Abstract
Zoning in plagioclase feldspar is often an indicator of magmatic differentiation. This is mainly due
to the process of fractional crystallization changing the chemistry of magmatic bodies, and has been
documented in many localities. A case study will examine a 2010 report of the Bezymianny
Volcano in the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia, where researchers studied oscillatory zoning in the
plagioclase. An interpretation of the results has shown frequent replenishments to the magma
chamber, and many magmatic differentiation processes including magma mixing, addition of
volatiles, and reheating and convection the melt body (Shcherbakov et al., 2010).
Introduction
Zoning occurs in plagioclase feldspars as they crystallize out of a melt, as composition of the
magma changes. These changes occur due to the formation of minerals consuming certain elements
present in the magma (Gill, 2010). Plagioclase is an excellent indicator for this progressive
depletion of elements, as it forms a continuous series of anorthite (calcium rich, CaAl2Si2O8) to
albite (sodium rich, NaAlSi3O8) (Nesse, 2011). Because of the differences in composition, the
feldspar chemistry can be used to interpret the magmatic processes which led to the production of
these feldspars. The zoning pattern reflects the chemical changes, which have occurred to the
magma body and can show magmatic differentiation processes such as magma mixing and changes
in temperature, pressure and water content (Churikova

battery while delivering a package because the roof is the main source of power for the drones
to recharge. Once all of the packages were confirmed deliveries, the van returns to the warehouse
and repeats the cycle. Overall, the idea of this grocery delivery robot is a fantastic innovation.
This will save people valuable time and cause less hectic stress of going to the store to buy their
groceries. People simply have a lot of things to do nowadays and the last thing they want to do is
go grocery shopping after a long day of work. They simply submit a grocery list to the company
and wait a couple hours for the delivery at their front door. Nothing could be more convenient than

Comparing the Two Versions of A Butterfly by William...
Comparing the Two Versions of A Butterfly by William Wordsworth
William Wordsworth wrote two versions of the poem To A Butterfly, one in March, the other in
April. In reading the poems, the situation presented is obviously the same, only interpreted
differently and reflected differently. As Wordsworth himself said about poetry
: it is the spontaneous
overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquillity: the
emotion is contemplated till by a species of reaction the tranquillity gradually disappears. Both
versions of the poem are about the memory that the sight of a butterfly brings back, not so much a
memory but a feeling the poet gets upon seeing this butterfly. In the first version of ... Show more

In the last two lines, we learn that the memory is not of the two of them together, but primarily
of his sister, Emmeline, who feared to brush the dust from off its wings. The memory seems like
it should be a happy one, but the language of the beginning of the poem tells us otherwise, and
we are left wondering what has happened between the memory and now. The tone of the second
poem, the April poem, is quite different from that of the first. Here, the poet does not impose his
own thoughts and impressions upon the butterfly, but simply observes it, and wonders about the
natural life of a butterfly. He thinks of what it would be like to be a butterfly, thoughts that would
put one in a fanciful mood, not a somber one. If the butterfly happened to take flight in the April
poem, I think the poet would be happy about this (compare lines 7 9 of the April poem to lines 1 2
of the March poem). The next stanza is very important in differentiating between the uneasy sort
of reflective mood of the March poem, because it describes the orchard ground as theirs, his and
his sister s together, showing us that nothing bad has happened to her (an idea I got from the
March poem). He tells the butterfly that it is welcome in their orchard whenever it would like to
rest, and they would like to see him often. Lines 16 19 describe the conversations they will have
(before, in the March poem, the conversation he finds in the butterfly brings a solemn

Cultured Meat Research Paper
Why should we be promoting Vitro Meat? How can we promote it?
The vulnerability of factory farming is often easily forgotten as it is so massive. Factory farming is
something that is still new to manufacturers and the public, and it can be predicted that it wont be
around for long.
Why is that?
Cultured meat is a new technology which includes growing cells into muscle tissue without the use
of live animals, this has a great chance of replacing factory farmed meat production in the future.
Over the years the science to produce cultured meat has been successful however ways to make it
more palatable and defeat several engineering hurdles to reduce cost and make cultured meat mass
producible in a short amount of time are still factors that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Putting cost benefits aside, cultured meat may bring other benefits to consumers, as it will be
safer to consume due to the decreased possibility of contamination, it can increase the varieties as
producers will no longer be limited to species that are easier to farm. There are possibilities for
consumers to be able to buy lab grown bison at a cheaper rate than factory farmed chicken.
Although cultured meat is destined to succeed, actions can be taken to speed up its mass adoption.
In estimation every hour of mass adoption of cultured meat, 70,000 years of farm animal suffering
ins being prevented. Even though there are many benefits of cultured meat many activists either
oppose the new technology or discourage it, their reservations however are often misguided while

Conflict at Work
Definition of Conflict
Interpersonal Conflict occurs between two or more persons when attitudes, motives, values,
expectations or activities are incompatible and if those people perceive themselves to be in
disagreement (John Hunt, 1982)
Conflict Theory
Conflict theory talks about why people think and act the way they do and what conditions and
causes influence a certain response in human behaviour. While there have been many different
views on conflict theory and it has taken a multitude of different forms, it often seems that the
Marxian theory is the one that represents the predominant example of conflict theory in sociological
literature.
The Marxist theory of conflict argues that there is a huge difference between social ... Show more

Advantages and Disadvantages of Conflict
As conflict is created under disagreement and often disputation, it is natural to have negative
impact. When people engage in misplaced competitive behavior, then the conflict comes and both
the organization and individuals suffer. The difficulty of facing a conflict is that it can often be
destructive and feels acutely uncomfortable to the

President Bush PEPFAR Report
President George W. Bush is known as a born again Christian and framed the U.S. President s
Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in response to his religious base (Jappah, 315).
President Bush s PEPFAR efforts improved the United States health care infrastructure and
institutional capacity with a premeditated aim to change sexual practices and behaviors. PEPFAR
collaborated with Nigerian government agencies, local and international non governmental
organizations and faith based organizations (FBOs) as well as United Statesgovernment agencies
and universities to implement HIV/AIDS relief programs (Jappah, 2013). The enactment of global
AIDS relief by the Bush Administration was partly in response to pressure from evangelical
Christian groups in the United States to respond to the epidemic (Jappah, 2013). President Bush s
HIV/AIDS response had religionas a factor to PEPFAR creation as Political Scientist R. Pereira

The Bush Administration s preference for faith based organizations (FBOs) was partly explained
by local dynamics along with structural and political limitations in Nigeria and other African
bureaucracies (Jappah, 2013). An important principle of PEPFAR practices had been the distrust
of governmental sectors and confidence on non governmental such as FBOs (Jappah, 2013).
President Bush s administration focused on Nigeria as the framing of HIV/AIDS as a social
problem resulting from immorality reflected a common view that the nation s most rooted social
problems are resulted from moral corruption (Jappah, 2013). President Bush was criticized by
liberal thinkers and advocacy groups regarding to President Bush s administration practices and
emphasized the need to remove ideologically driven conservative policies from PEPFAR programs

Research on the Indian Software Export Sector
INTRODUCTION: My area of research will focus on the Indian software export sector. After
concisely discussing the main features of the industry, will evaluate the major challenges it
faces and assess its prospects for the future. To concentrate my study on the topic; I have chose
to do the case study of Indian company Infosys . It was found in 1981 in Bangalore. It is one of
the most appreciated and esteemed companies in India that provides technology, business
consulting, engineering and outsourcing services. Only a minor share of proceeds comes from
domestic sales. It is primarily an exporting firm, and one with global reach. It was first listed on
the Bombay Stock Exchange in 1993 and in 1999 on the U.S based NASDAQ. The company
specializes in software development and provides maintenance and independent validation facilities
to companies in finance, banking, manufacturing, insurance and other fields. One of its famous
products is Finacle, a complete banking solution for retail and corporate banking with different
models. (Carmel Erran, 2006) As the market is expanding globally and becoming more and more
competitive each day, my hypothesis is that every company needs a good marketing strategy to be
successful. Increasing global trade and sales activity all across the world has heightened the
significance of exporting for organizations and countries. Exporting is crucial and has numerous
benefits for organizations and countries. For an organization s growth or

Social Influences And Class Structure Affect People s Health
Social influences and class structure affect people s health. People who live in poverty and are at
the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder have worse health than those who have more money. In
essence, inequality in society is making people sick. For example, the United States is a country
that has very wealthy people along with a staggering amount of poor individuals, yet it is one of
the richest countries in the world. It is clear that there is a widening gap of inequality in America,
and according to the film Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick? (2008), the United
Statesspends $2 trillion per year on medical care, but American citizens live shorter, sicker lives
than most industrialized countries. But how is this possible? The stresses of every day life for
middle and low class citizens greatly contributes to their healthissues. According to Williams and
Rosenstock, differences in income are associated with differences in occupations and work
environments, potentially exacerbating the overall effect of income inequality on workers health
(2015:616). Basically, those who work in poor conditions and make a lower income, who are
clearly unequal to the richer citizens who work under better conditions, are prone to greater health
risks. This gap in health between unequal classes is not coincidental. In Williams and Rosenstock s
article, they state that one measure of income inequality is the pay gap between that of a
production worker and a company s CEO and

Psychology of Attraction
What makes us attracted to certain people more than others? The science of Psychology explains
how people become attracted to one another. Certainly some aspects of beauty are cultural; fashion
and trends change over time. Also, society and the media influence us into thinking what traits are
attractive. Some reasons for attraction have to do with familiarity and proximity. Biology also
plays a role in determining what traits we will possess. Biology and Psychologywork hand and hand
to help us pick our mates.
The media plays a major role in determining what is and isn t attractive. In Breeding Between the

Ziv (2006) writes, For centuries, women have known that a narrow waist and wide hips are
appealing and have gone great lengths to accentuate these features with corsets, bustles, and
petticoats (p. 118). Ziv also writes, The appeal of the woman s hourglass figure is nearly
universal. Curves separate the girls from the boys, and apparently the hot from the not (p. 118).
Psychologist Devendra Singh of the University of Texas studied people s waist to hip ratio
(WHR). She states that Women with a WHR of 0.7 indicating a waist significantly narrower
than the hips are most desirable to men (Carey, 2006, Those hips, В¶ 1). Hourglass figures are
desired by men because the hips show fertility. In an analysis of hourglass figures of Playboy
models and Miss America contestants, it showed that the majority of these women had a WHR
of 0.7 or lower (Carey, 2006). What exactly is encoded in the hip ratio? It is a sign to whether the
person will have enough energy to care for offspring. Also, people who have the ideal hip ratio
range are less likely to get diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, cancer, and diabetes, studies
have shown (Carey, 2006).
A trait that is important to attract mates it clear skin. Ziv (2006) writes, As much as fashion and
beauty can vary across cultures, clear skin in universally admired (p. 118). Subconsciously, when
humans see clear skin, they are relieved. The reason they have relieved is that clear skin means that

Introduction
With the primary objective of incentivizing exports, various schemes like Export Oriented Units
(EOUs), Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Duty Exemption Entitlement Schemes (DEECs),
Manufacture under Bond etc. have been made available by the government to obtain inputs without
the payment of customs duty/excise duty or to obtain refund of duty paid on inputs. In case of

Section 74 deals with goods which fall under Category A as described above and Section 75 deals
with Category B.
In case of goods which were earlier imported on payment of duty and are later sought to be re
exported within a specified period, customs duty paid at the time of import of the goods with
certain cut can be claimed as duty drawback by the exporter at the time of export of such goods.
Such duty drawback is granted in terms of Section 74 of the Customs Act, 1962 read with Re
export of Imported Goods (Drawback of Customs Duty) Rules, 1995. For this purpose, at the time
of import, the identity particulars of the goods are recorded at the time of examination of import
goods; at the time of export, cross verification of the goods under export is done with the help of
related import documents to ascertain whether the goods under export are the very ones which
were imported earlier.
Where the goods are not put into use after import, 98% of duty drawback is admissible at the
maximum under Section 74 of the Customs Act, 1962. In cases where the goods are put into
use in India after import but prior to its export, duty drawback is granted on a sliding scale basis
depending upon the extent of use of the goods. No duty drawback is available if the goods are
put into use for a period exceeding 36 months after import. Application for duty drawback is
required to be made within 3 months from the date of export of goods. If the primary elements of

  • 3. The Potato Peeler Analysis The Potato Peeler (1885) (Fig. 1) (reverse: Self Portrait with a Straw Hat) (1887) (Fig. 2) by Vincent van Gogh (1853 1890) is one of many paintings that lack highly saturated hues and colors by van Gogh. Many have a misconception that his darker and less saturated paintings come from a short time in his life when he experimented with dark colors; the reality is that his more saturated paintings were not developed until the last four years of his life and his less saturated pieces come from a longer period in his life. Given how different the two pieces are, one can assume they are unrelated; but they really show how much he grew as an artist and how much he challenged himself to move from less saturated still lifes, portraits, etc. to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much, if not all, of his work before 1886 was very similar; he used vibrant color infrequently if it all and painted dark landscapes, still lifes, and portraits (like The Potato Peeler). It was not until he left for France in 1886 that he decided to focus more on himself, thus transforming his style into what we recognize more easily today. There seems to be a misconception that he had always painted with vibrant colors and little thick strokes; but he only painted using vibrant and highly saturated colors for a brief time in his life as stated before. Van Gogh was influenced by Jean FranГ§ois Millet to paint rural scenes. In the winter of 1884 to 1885, van Gogh painted more that 40 portrait studies of peasants, including The Potato Peeler (Department of European Paintings). These studies would then lead to his piece The Potato Eaters as seen in Fig. 3. Van Gogh was inspired to portray rural life this way because he intended to relay to the viewers a feeling of the coarseness of rural life (Stotland, 387). Van Gogh was more focused on life around him and depicting it in a more humanistic way. Although the use of light and shadow may be exaggerated to some extent, the color stays accurate to what humans do look like. A few more minor pieces were painted after in the same style as The Potato Peeler; but after his move to France, his style changes to the more vibrant and impressionist style we know today. Van Gogh had realized that the style of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Richard Wright s Black Boy and Jhumpa Lahiri s Interpreter of Maladies, alienation creates a platform to better understand society s assumptions and moral values. In these texts, multiple characters suffer from isolation due to gender, race, class, or beliefs. Throughout the works, readers encounter the shallow and unforgiving nature of society through characters who face poverty, racism, and cultural adjustment. The characters in Lahiri s work, Interpreter of Maladies, exemplify the struggle for assimilation, a key factor which drives many to isolation. In the short story When Mr. Pirzada Came... The man definitely belonged to the western hemisphere, as definitive characteristics indicate so. Delta s attempted method of dissolution would have ultimately lost because of two factors: 1) lack of understanding of the Spanish culture and preference, as well as, 2) their lack of restaurant experience. Further, it would decrease the chances of future successes in Spain since their dissolution strategy will certainly be known across many industries and political networks. This would make Delta s ability to establish new contacts, find and purchase property, apply for a food license, hiring qualified local managers, gaining new customers and opening new stores a difficult and costly undertaking. As stated by Costas, Delta has insufficient capital for its planned expansion (BRS p.12) which is required if it was to venture on its own in Spain. No longer having a partner, Delta would be required to put up 100% of the costs necessary to expand the business, rather than the 50% previously required. Without the contacts Terralumen has, these costs would likely rise as well. The real estate market requires extensive knowledge, and without this knowledge, they will likely pay a large premium. Though the twelve hour trip down there seemed very long and boring, the trip was ultimately worth it. There are a lot of interesting things to do in Panama City Beach, Florida. The first thing that we did when we finally got there, was to check into the hotel and take our stuff to the room, which was on the first floor facing the beach. It had three rooms. One had the kitchenette, a couch, and a bed with a TV mounted on the wall across from it. The second room had two beds and a TV mounted on the opposite wall. In between the two rooms was the bathroom. After we finished looking around the rooms, we went out to the white sandbeach through the sliding glass doors in the first room to watch the sunset. The colors of the sunset against the light green water were amazing. The reds, oranges, and yellows seemed more vibrant next to the color of that water. It made me wonder why people don t just stay on the beach for the rest of their lives. I knew that I would have happily stayed there forever just to see sunsets like that every night for the rest of my life. We stayed on the beach until the sun was completely gone and the sky was dark. After the beach was completely dark and quiet, we headed back to the hotel. The hotel had many things to do inside. These kolams can express many meanings such as announcing that their home is welcome to others, announce special events, worship deities, and celebrate festivals. The presence or absence of the kolam on the front stoop is equivalent to announcing that a household is open or closed to the world, a cultural category that sends off a capacious sense of hospitableness or hospitality, specifically, the willingness and ability to feed stranger, (Pintchman, 88). This can be interpreted as the idea that the family has a surplus of food and is willing to help people in the community who need it. This means if there were someone wandering the streets: a community member, visitor, or stranger, they would read this kolam as a very strong encouraging sign that they might be able to receive a bowl of hot food or other hospitality from this family. Another way that kolams can be used is to announce special events for a household, such as births, deaths, or menstruation cycles. In some households, when a child is born, special elaborate designs may be made for the kolam of that day, to announce the child s birth. • 20. Essay about Noam Chomsky s Impact on Language Modern day linguistics has seen the arrival of many different viewpoints of language. Beginning with Noam Chomsky, unquestionably one of the most influential figures in recent linguistics, new theories and ideas have been introduced at a rapid rate. In part due to his status as a revitalizer in the field, but also due to his often controversial theories, Chomsky maintains a place at the center of this discussion. His search for a universal grammar and criticism of pure descriptivism have informed generations of research. Much of this has been reactionary against him, but his influence can not be discounted. His theories of a universal grammar have inspired writers on both sides of the debate. Paul Hopper argues against this view, positing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He seeks to find underlying similarities across these distinct languages, to construct a general theory of a singular language. However, it seems as though he cannot be scientifically vindicated without the groundwork being laid down by many of the authors that he is critical of. Thus, it is particularly interesting that Chomsky seems to be so at odds with the idea of descriptivism. When Chomsky says, Grammar should not be merely a record of the data of usage, but, rather, should offer an explanation for such data, (587) he is acknowledging the usefulness, presumably to his own theories, of descriptive linguistics. He in fact recognizes the debt he owes when he says, To me, it seems that [structural linguistics ] major achievement is to have provided a factual and a methodological basis that makes it possible to return to the problems that occupied the traditional universal grammarians... (590) But he goes on to say, On the other hand, it seems to me that the substantive contributions to the theory of language structure are few, and that, to a large extent, the concepts of modern linguistics constitute a retrogression as compared with universal grammar. (590) Where the descriptivists see an end, Chomsky sees only the means, and is somewhat dismissive of them. Chomsky is relatively blatant in his rejection of these ends. He later states, [The linguist] is, first of all, concerned to report data ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was an Islamic revolution which attempted to replace Mohammed Reza Shah, with an Islamic republic under Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the revolution. Strong opposition against the Shah showed that the people wanted a religious ruler rather than someone they saw as an American puppet. • 22. Beowulf And The Epic s Christian Identity Beowulf and the Epic s Christian Identity Composed in early eighth century by an unknown author the epic poem Beowulf, follows the exploits of the protagonist of the same name. Originally composed orally by a tribe s scop, the epic of Beowulf delivers insight on the lives and adventures of characters that lived in the sixth century. Although, the tale of Beowulf was formulated during post Roman collapse by presumably pagan people; written around seven hundred A.D., it is probable that a Christian monk transcribed the grand narrative implanting Christian motifs and ideals into pagan Scandinavian culture. Therefore, the result of this concoction is a blended storyline infused with religious imagery and allusion along with traditional Nordic beliefs of war and honor. The tale, and arguably, the tragedy of Beowulf illustrate the conflict between the Pagan elements and Christian tenets, as aspects of both are present in the epic. The underlying Christian and Pagan values in Beowulf illustrate the iniquity of mankind and its eventual downfall through allusion to god, symbolism, and vices and virtues of warrior man. Firstly, Hrothgar s monologue foreshadows the climax and tragedy of man; moreover, Hrothgar s speech illuminates the end of both warrior and king. For example, after the battle in which Grendel is defeated, Hrothgar say, First and foremost, let the Almighty father be thanked for this sight. I suffered a long harrowing by Grendel. • 23. The Science Fiction Story, A Reporter Anthony Ha ESS 102 Research Paper In the science fiction story, a reporter goes to board the first public flight to Mars. He writes about what he experiences such as the feeling of being the first passengers to Mars, seeing the technologies that recycle water, eating fresh produce in space, and the final landing on Mars a year later and watching the rovers that landed before him moving about. Many problems of space travel stem from the fact that supplies are limited in space. A trip to Mars with current technologies would take eight months to travel to Mars and that is just robotic missions (NASA 2012a). This presents an obvious problem that a space flight can only carry a limited amount of food, water, and air. Any system also needs to be powered by electricity. Current food technology consists of prepackaged food. There are a couple problems that space food has to be able to solve. One problem is that space food has to not just float around and get into vents, crevices, and machinery. This is a hazard that scientists have to keep in mind when making food. Also, it should be long lasting enough to last in space until a resupply. The food the astronauts eat in the International Space Station right now are all packaged food sent up from earth. There is freeze dried food which is cooked before being flash frozen and vacuumed. This is then rehydrated with water when astronauts want to eat. Although versatility is perfectly fine, you will most likely want to focus on one type of riding. The two main types of horseback riding are english and western. The following is a guide to english riding. The Horse English type horses are usually leggier and more athletically built than the stockier western horses. They are built uphill, which means that their withers are higher than their backs. Horses of any breed can be ridden english, but the breeds that excel in this discipline are: thoroughbreds, warmbloods, gaited horses, and Arabians. Stock breeds, such as Quarter Horses and Paint Horses usually do better when ridden western. The Gaits The gaits in english ridingare faster than those of western. The three main gaits of english horses are: walking, trotting and cantering. The walk is obviously the same as western, but english horses often hold their heads higher than western horses. This isn t a matter of the horse s spirit, but the western horses are trained to carry their heads a little lower. The horse s trot is a fast, up down gait. The english rider will either sit or post to the trot. The canter is even faster than the trot, and it is a three beat gait. The rider will rock their body to go with the movement of the horse. Many people refer to it as the rocking chair gait. The Rider English riders tend to sit up more on the front of their pelvis, while western riders tend to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Gender Development in Children Essay There have been many theories and studies in support of the development of gender identity and gender roles. One major theory was the one put forward by Bandura and his social learning theory. Bandura s social learning theory states that gender is learnt through direct and indirect reinforcement. The direct reinforcement is influenced by parents and according to the social learning theory gender identity is also reinforced through the beliefs and attitudes that the parents implement within their children through gender stereotypical behaviour. However, gender roles can also be learnt through observation and modelling of behaviour. Although Bandura did devise a theory into the explanation of development of gender identity, he did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if a parent encouraging traditional female behaviour by saying to the young girl `Your look pretty in that dress , through these comments they are reinforcing gender appropriate behaviour. The influence of peers is also seen as a form of direct gender reinforcement, under the social learning theory. Again, Bandura did not have any evidence through studies to show that this was the case, so therefore Lamb and Roopnarnine took up the chance into providing empirical evidence through the use of an observational method. They observed a group of nursery schoolchildren and found that the children generally reinforced peers for gender appropriate play by giving them more attention or imitating and they were quick to criticise gender inappropriate play. So whilst having your own behaviour reinforced you are also learning by watching others behaviour being reinforced. These findings support Bandura s suggestion and the idea of learning through imitation and modelling is certainly present. According to the social learning theory, the influence of the media in the formation of gender roles and identity is known as being indirectly and vicariously reinforced. It states that we can learn gender appropriate behaviour by learning from others. So by having gender stereotypes portrayed in the media, it has a powerful influence on all of us but especially on children because they are currently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Mayor of the city has enacted a new policy of increasing police patrols in high crime areas in an attempt to reduce crime rates. To meet the demands of this policy, 25 additional police officers are required. Due to staff shortages, the department has been under public scrutiny for its excessive work hours and overtime burdens that the current staff handles to meet demands. The police department is experiencing an aging workforce as the average age on the force is 45 years old. Within the next few years 24% of the current force will be eligible for retirement, which will leave vacancies that will need to be back filled. An additional factor that affects labor demand is the current labor union contract that requires the department to provide opportunity to promote from within. Between vacancies left behind from retirement and promotion changes, it has been noted that approximately one quarter of the current force will need to be replaced. These three factors increase demand for a large number of new recruits in this department. A2. Factors that are influencing labor supply. Dulce Et Decorum Est By Jessie Pope Analysis War Poetry Comparative Essay The saying dulce et decorum est pro patria mori comes from the roman poet Horace in Ode III.2.13, it translates back to how sweet and fitting it is to die for one s country. When Dulce Et Decorum Est was first written in 1917, it was directed at the poet Jessie Pope, then the dedication changed to a certain poetess . However, this dedication was never published as Wilfred Owen wanted the poem to reach everyone and not just Pope. Pope was a famous WW1 poet best known for her pro war, motivational poems, her most famous being Who s for the Game . The themes in Dulce Et Decorum Est (DEDE) are war, death and patriotism. In WFTG lines 16 17 Pope writes Your country is up to her neck in a fight // and she s looking and calling for you with an emphasis on you . Most lines in this poem start with who ll and then finally in the last two lines of the poem it changes from who to you. No longer who will do it, who will save people, now it s changed you will do it. Linking back to the patriotism in these lines. It personifies the country, as a damsel in distress figure. Something the man can save, become a hero. But not only this, the use of your this gets the reader to believe that England is their country and they have to protect what s theirs. Thus using patriotism to get men sign up for the war without them knowing it. As mentioned earlier Owens view of patriotism in DEDE are very different from Pope s, almost the exact opposite. This, however, was probably due to Owens own experience in war, seeing the suffering that he writes about in Dulce Et Decorum Est . Much like Pope, Owens last lines show his true feeling when it comes to patriotism. These lines are most likely aimed at Pope, the lines being My friend, you will not tell with such high zest // To children ardent for some desperate glory // The old lie: Dulce est decorum est // Pro patria mori. The words in this extract are so harsh and bitter. The word desperate implies the war is pathetic, not real glory, a pathetic glory. The patronising use of friend really shows the reader that this poem is not aimed at them but someone else. However, the cost of hiring lay teachers to replace the large, low cost religious teaching workforce has raised the cost associated with running the school. Furthermore, as Catholic schools are tuition funded, and the cost of running the schoolis borne by the students, any increase in the cost of doing business results in a concomitant increase in tuition. • 39. Claudius s Accomplishments Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus, better known just by Claudius, was the fourth emperor of Rome. Born to the Roman general, Nero Claudius Drusus and his wife Antonia, Claudius was never seen as being capable to rule anything (Momigliano, 2017). This view was seen by many of his relatives, including his grandmother. According to ancient.eu, When it was predicted that Claudius would rule the empire, she prayed aloud that the Roman people might be spared so cruel and undeserved a misfortune (Wasson, 2011). Claudius had many ailments that haunted his younger life, such as, drooling, stammering, and walking with a limp; because of these, he received ridicule from family members constantly. His own mother regarded him as a monster, a man whom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another problem that he would run into would stem from someone closest to him. Agrippina, the niece and new wife Claudius, was said to be very controlling and manipulative. Initially, she planned to get her son to be the next emperor through getting him to marry Claudius daughter (Wasson, 2011). This turned out to be unnecessary when she convinced Claudius to adopt her son Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, later known as Nero. This action caused for his own son Britannicus to be replaced as the heir to the throne. Now that Agrippina s plan had fallen into place, she was believed to have killed Claudius by using poisoned mushrooms. Thus came the end of Claudius I (Momigliano, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. A Report Of The Bezymianny Volcano During The Kamchatka... Abstract Zoning in plagioclase feldspar is often an indicator of magmatic differentiation. This is mainly due to the process of fractional crystallization changing the chemistry of magmatic bodies, and has been documented in many localities. A case study will examine a 2010 report of the Bezymianny Volcano in the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia, where researchers studied oscillatory zoning in the plagioclase. An interpretation of the results has shown frequent replenishments to the magma chamber, and many magmatic differentiation processes including magma mixing, addition of volatiles, and reheating and convection the melt body (Shcherbakov et al., 2010). Introduction Zoning occurs in plagioclase feldspars as they crystallize out of a melt, as composition of the magma changes. These changes occur due to the formation of minerals consuming certain elements present in the magma (Gill, 2010). Plagioclase is an excellent indicator for this progressive depletion of elements, as it forms a continuous series of anorthite (calcium rich, CaAl2Si2O8) to albite (sodium rich, NaAlSi3O8) (Nesse, 2011). Because of the differences in composition, the feldspar chemistry can be used to interpret the magmatic processes which led to the production of these feldspars. The zoning pattern reflects the chemical changes, which have occurred to the magma body and can show magmatic differentiation processes such as magma mixing and changes in temperature, pressure and water content (Churikova ... • 41. Amazon Drones Research Paper Going to the grocery store is always a long process that many people dislike. Many businesses have tried delivering groceries since the late 90 s but it is very expensive and inefficient. Not a single business was able to establish a cheap efficient way to deliver groceries to your front door. After a few years of trying many methods, Google and Amazon are attempting to pick up goods at stores and deliver them to homes using route optimization algorithms. This method seems great, however it is still on the pricy side. Google Express and AmazonFresh are not exactly cheap. Amazon is charging $299 per year to have this luxury service. Therefore, drone delivery experiments have been tested by numerous companies, like UPS. The drones are not the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also the drones on top of the van will not run out of battery while delivering a package because the roof is the main source of power for the drones to recharge. Once all of the packages were confirmed deliveries, the van returns to the warehouse and repeats the cycle. Overall, the idea of this grocery delivery robot is a fantastic innovation. This will save people valuable time and cause less hectic stress of going to the store to buy their groceries. • 42. Comparing the Two Versions of A Butterfly by William... Comparing the Two Versions of A Butterfly by William Wordsworth William Wordsworth wrote two versions of the poem To A Butterfly, one in March, the other in April. In reading the poems, the situation presented is obviously the same, only interpreted differently and reflected differently. As Wordsworth himself said about poetry : it is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquillity: the emotion is contemplated till by a species of reaction the tranquillity gradually disappears. Both versions of the poem are about the memory that the sight of a butterfly brings back, not so much a memory but a feeling the poet gets upon seeing this butterfly. In the first version of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the last two lines, we learn that the memory is not of the two of them together, but primarily of his sister, Emmeline, who feared to brush the dust from off its wings. The memory seems like it should be a happy one, but the language of the beginning of the poem tells us otherwise, and we are left wondering what has happened between the memory and now. The tone of the second poem, the April poem, is quite different from that of the first. Here, the poet does not impose his own thoughts and impressions upon the butterfly, but simply observes it, and wonders about the natural life of a butterfly. He thinks of what it would be like to be a butterfly, thoughts that would put one in a fanciful mood, not a somber one. If the butterfly happened to take flight in the April poem, I think the poet would be happy about this (compare lines 7 9 of the April poem to lines 1 2 of the March poem). The next stanza is very important in differentiating between the uneasy sort of reflective mood of the March poem, because it describes the orchard ground as theirs, his and his sister s together, showing us that nothing bad has happened to her (an idea I got from the March poem). He tells the butterfly that it is welcome in their orchard whenever it would like to rest, and they would like to see him often. Lines 16 19 describe the conversations they will have (before, in the March poem, the conversation he finds in the butterfly brings a solemn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Social Influences And Class Structure Affect People s Health Social influences and class structure affect people s health. People who live in poverty and are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder have worse health than those who have more money. In essence, inequality in society is making people sick. For example, the United States is a country that has very wealthy people along with a staggering amount of poor individuals, yet it is one of the richest countries in the world. It is clear that there is a widening gap of inequality in America, and according to the film Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick? (2008), the United Statesspends $2 trillion per year on medical care, but American citizens live shorter, sicker lives than most industrialized countries. But how is this possible? The stresses of every day life for middle and low class citizens greatly contributes to their healthissues. According to Williams and Rosenstock, differences in income are associated with differences in occupations and work environments, potentially exacerbating the overall effect of income inequality on workers health (2015:616). Basically, those who work in poor conditions and make a lower income, who are clearly unequal to the richer citizens who work under better conditions, are prone to greater health risks. This gap in health between unequal classes is not coincidental. In Williams and Rosenstock s article, they state that one measure of income inequality is the pay gap between that of a production worker and a company s CEO and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Certainly some aspects of beauty are cultural; fashion and trends change over time. Also, society and the media influence us into thinking what traits are attractive. Ziv also writes, The appeal of the woman s hourglass figure is nearly universal. Curves separate the girls from the boys, and apparently the hot from the not (p. 118). Psychologist Devendra Singh of the University of Texas studied people s waist to hip ratio (WHR). She states that Women with a WHR of 0.7 indicating a waist significantly narrower than the hips are most desirable to men (Carey, 2006, Those hips, В¶ 1). Hourglass figures are desired by men because the hips show fertility. In an analysis of hourglass figures of Playboy models and Miss America contestants, it showed that the majority of these women had a WHR of 0.7 or lower (Carey, 2006). What exactly is encoded in the hip ratio? It is a sign to whether the person will have enough energy to care for offspring. Also, people who have the ideal hip ratio range are less likely to get diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, cancer, and diabetes, studies have shown (Carey, 2006). A trait that is important to attract mates it clear skin. Ziv (2006) writes, As much as fashion and beauty can vary across cultures, clear skin in universally admired (p. 118).
