The Qing Dynasty And Gupta Empire Women s Rights
Christopher Valdez
Period 2A
Qing Dynasty and Gupta Empire Women s Rights Women s rights were not the same in all countries
during the time of the Qing dynasty and Gupta Empire. How did women s rights in the Qing dynasty
compare to those in of India s Gupta Empire? Women all around the world were treated differently.
Some women were treated better than others but the main focus on this research paper is about the
Qing dynasty and Gupta Empire.
The Qing dynasty has historical background as like many other cultures. In 1644 Manchus, better
known as the Qing dynasty, conquered the Ming state and established their own Qing or Pure dynasty
among men lasting over three hundred years (Metmusem.org). The rise of the Qing dynasty is
provided by the story of a man named Li Zicheng. Li Zicheng was an ironworker who lost his job
along many other government paid employees. This occurred because the emperor needed money for
more troops in battle to defend Beijing against the attacks the powerful attacks of the Manchus, better
known as the Qing dynasty today. By the year of 1630 Li had found a job as a soldier; however, since
the government couldn t pay them and provided them what needed, Li decided to quit. After that Li
won the trust of several thousand Chinese revels and lead them into the towns capturing them and
added young men into their army. Li and his army won support of more people by making powerful
promises of ending imperial abuses. With more support in their side they

Symbols and Journey Used in Ellison s Book Invisible Man ...
In the book Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison and the play Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller the two
writers use various symbols to develop the American Literature Theme of The Journey. Two important
symbols Ellison uses in Invisible Man are dreams and the narrator s briefcase. Two important symbols
in Death of a Salesman are diamonds and the car. Ellison and Miller use these symbols to take their
characters through their life s journey, whether physical or metaphorical. The portentous dream the
narrator has in the beginning of Invisible Man foreshadows his whole journey throughout the book. In
the his dream at the end of the first chapter, he finds an envelope in his briefcase that says, To Whom
It May Concern, Keep this Nigger Boy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The briefcase holds the contents of the narrator s past; it haunts him and he cannot relieve himself of it
until the very end. When he is burning the contents he becomes a phoenix rising from the ashes to a
new life, a new journey. Within the briefcase is his high school diploma, the piece of paper with his
new identity on it that was given to him by the Brotherhood, Clifton s doll, the anonymous letter from
Jack. All of these things were a part of his old identities, always with him in that briefcase. In Death of
a Salesman, the diamonds are Willy s past and future, what could have been and what could be. Ben
tells Willy in one final scene, The jungle is dark but full of diamonds, Willy. One must go in to fetch a
diamond out. It s dark there, but full of diamonds (Miller 1993). Willy had the opportunity to go with
Ben to find real diamonds, real happiness. He missed his first chance and instead he must now die to
find the happiness, the diamond in the rough. The car is the way for Willy to reach true happiness, no
worries; a means of transportation eventually to Willy s death. Willy s life never amounted to anything
much in the end and he needed to escape. The car is his ferry to the afterlife, to his happiness. The first

Maryland Essay
Maryland is the 42nd largest state, making it one of the smaller states in America. It is located in the
South Atlantic region on the United States eastern seaboard. Prince George s is one of twenty four
counties in Maryland. It is also the geographic center of the state. Maryland has a varied climate. The
state is home to a variety of different ecosystems. This is also true of
Maryland s environment, which has the Atlantic Ocean on the coast, mountains, and forest land.
My paper will focus on Prince George s county and the state of Maryland. The size of the state and
how connected parts of Prince George s county is to its neighboring counties and cities makes it
sensible to take a wider view of Maryland s ecology and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These areas are used to protect natural resources, conservation, and education. Many of these water
ways are considered ecological greenways.
Before European settlers colonized parts of Maryland, the area was dominated by mixed
hardwood forests. European settlers cut down native forests at a high rate and the timber was
sold in Europe. These old growth forests are now virtually extinct in the state. Environmental
activists have been fighting for decades to preserve these endangered habitats for the animals and
plants that live in them.
The essay, Maryland s Environment: A 20,000 Year History of Change states, in the
early days of the colony, European settlers themselves slowly cleared the land. Their
pigs, cattle, horses, and fowl were fenced out of house yards and ranged free in the
Maryland woods. The activities of the livestock were very effective in clearing the
understory and preventing the regeneration of forests. Farming practices especially
tobacco agriculture, which was so widespread in Tidewater Maryland included the
frequent clearing of fields and their later abandonment due to exhausted soils, which led
to the fragmentation of forests and the creation of patchwork landscapes.
The late 1800s and early 1900s witnessed the most extensive deforestation in Maryland,
when approximately 80 percent of the land was cleared of trees. The result was

Write An Essay On Isaac s Storm
It was Saturday, Sept. 8, 1900, and never had Buford T. Morris seen such a beautiful daybreak: The
sky seemed to be made of mother of pearl; gloriously pink, yet containing a fish scale effect which
reflected all the colors of the rainbow. Within hours, however, this glorious first light in Galveston,
Texas, would be transformed into disaster of unimaginable proportionsÐone that would devastate
the seaside town and claim the lives of an estimated 8,000 people as a deadly hurricane blew in from
the Gulf of Mexico.
It was, in a sense, Isaac Cline s storm the man stationed in Galveston for the new U.S. Weather
Bureau. Author Erik Larson, who researched survivors accounts, tells of the hurricane in his new
book, Isaac s Storm: A Man, a Time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
St. Mary s Orphanage and nearly all of its 93 children were swept away including young charges
tethered in groups by clothesline in the nuns ill fated attempt to save their lives. Houses floated down
streets, becoming battering rams as water from the nearby bay and from the Gulf of Mexico converged
on the town, rising well above 30 feet in depth and above the rooftops of many two story homes.
Dr. S.O. Young, a Cline acquaintance, was drawn by the sheer power of the storm as it assailed his
home. Opening the door to a second floor gallery, he hauled himself outside and was immediately
pinned to the exterior wall by 125 mph winds. He remained there, agape, as he surveyed the unfolding
drama.
Waves swept through Young s neighborhood, writes Larson, propelling huge pieces of wreckage.
Within minutes, the only other house still standing began a slow pirouette, rose like a huge steamboat .
. . and suddenly disappeared with the occupants, a family of four, still inside. My feelings were
indescribable as I saw them go, Young later recounted.
Finally, the rescuers came. As many as 500 dead, some were told. Seasoned reporters accustomed to
hearing exaggerated claims soon learned that, in fact, this report of the death toll was a vast

Examples Of The Bible Reference About Dinah
1a. Bible Reference about Dinah s Character
The Bible introduces Dinah as the daughter of Jacob from Leah; Gen. 30:21 And afterwards she bare a
daughter, and called her name Dinah. The remainder of the book of Genesis gives some detail that
Dinah was bare in Padanaram, she was the seventh children from Leah and with her other brother
(Gen. 46:15). The Bible doesn t describe the appearance, the attitude, even the character of Dinah. We
can see a little bit character of Dinah in one occasion when Jacob and family stay some time in the
Shechem (Gen. 34:1 31).
1b. What I have learnt from Dinah s Character
A. Curiosity or An Adventureous
Genesis 34:1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the
daughters of the land. This was shown that Dinah has the curiosity inside her heart. Some of the books
mention that was because Dinah grew as a teenager or youth that ... Show more content on

The World Acceptance
If Jacob did not stay in that city, perhaps the terrible thing will not happen to Dinah. Since Dinah also
still live in the flesh, she wanted the world acceptance. She dresses the same kind of the city girls at
that place, which Josephus relates that she went to attend a festival at Shechem. Even the Bible didn t
mention how Dinah dressed herself, we can imagine how she wanted same with the dressing of city
girl which look beautiful. Edith Deen imagine Dinah ... In graceful tunic style dress of a soft pastel
colour, in the tones of the early flowers. Perhaps she was also wearing a veil that fell softly across her
face...
This world promises the good thing about life in this earth, the popularity, many friends, the riches.
But follow the world, is followed into the destruction of life. As Dinah wore the same dressing as the
Sheckem city girls; she got the consequence that Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of
the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her (Gen. 34:2). He thought she was a
common harlot.

Compare And Contrast Annie Dillard And Virginia Woolf
Despite any futile resistance, each living creature eventually succumbs to the forces of death.
Ultimately, death is a part of living. Death is inevitable. Likewise, although a diminutive moth may
appear to be insignificant and pathetic, it can symbolize the true connections between the duality of
life and death and human beings. For instance, Annie Dillard and Virginia Woolf illustrate similar,
universal messages about the value of life through the metaphor of a moth. However, the manner in
which they portray their themes and purpose varies, for their personal experiences and writing styles
influence their perspectives of life and death.
Unlike Annie Dillard, Virginia Woolf was an essayist during the turbulence of the early twentieth
century, where she witnessed the atrocities of both world wars and the lack of women in the
intellectual realm. Ultimately, Woolf decided to end her own life by drowning herself. Therefore, her
views of life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Dillard explains a variety of instances with a more straightforward approach, while
Woolf describes an individual event with complex sentences and ideas. However, as the moth in Woolf
s essay begins to face death, her syntax becomes less complex, with shorter sentences and less
connected ideas. Likewise, the vocabulary of Dillard s work is not as advanced, whereas Woolf would
include complex diction to create a more formal tone. Furthermore, the tone of both writers provides
different emotional senses to take away from the piece. For instance, Woolf concludes her essay by
stating that death is stronger than her, whereas Dillard writes of her lively conversations with fellow
writers. While Woolf effectively shares a much darker and emotional attitude, focusing on the power
of death, both voices help impart the author s true meaning and

Walmart International And International Analysis
Walmart International Analysis Throughout the years, Walmart s strategy is being a great formula of
success in the United States and they kept growing in a way that there was nothing else to go because
the market was so saturated in America that if they wanted to grow and produce more profits, they
would have to do something else. Along with the saturation of the market, Walmart realized that the
American population was only 4% of the global population and there was 96% of the population out
from America that could be explored, and there were developing countries that had a great potential to
make profits to Walmart. Due to the saturation of the American market, opportunity in developing
countries to grow and most of the population of America, the most natural way to keep growing and
creating opportunities to grow in fact was going to do business with international markets.
Then, in 1991, Walmart decided that they would expand to the international market and their first
target was their neighbor in North America, Mexico. In Mexico, they went a 50/50 joint venture with
Cifra group that was the leader chain in Mexico, and they had a great success there, and then they
bought more shares. Even though Walmart was a success in Mexico, does the Walmart America s
formula fit in every other culture? There are some examples that shows that their strategies could be
duplicated in other countries such as in Canada and Mexico, but most of their experiences in foreign
market shows that

Is Automobile Racing a Sport?
There are many arguments for and against auto racing actually being a sport. To understand this
argument one needs to know what type of racing people are saying is a sport. Auto racing has been
around as long as there have been automobiles. Every teenager, whether they admit it or not has raced.
This type of racing however is not a sport if you ask me; this type of racing is known as street racing.
On this type of racing people get together and race their suit up cars and see who is faster. There is no
stress on the body, and not any practice needed to participate in this. This is one of the main reasons
that most people believe that auto racing is not a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Hawaii Culture
I am the kind of person who believes that experiencing unity, positivity, love and passion are crucial.
Although our nation strives to be united, it is apparent that there are many situations where we are
divided. However, in Hawaii, I am finding that these types of experiences are easily attainable. It s
Saturday, May 10, 2014, and I have just arrived in Waikiki, Hawaii for my Make a Wish. Everyone is
chanting, singing, praising, and just appearing together as one. My goal for the week is to learn more
about the culture, its traditions, and its people. Hawaii is a place with an incredible history and culture,
much different from mine. That is why I have so much interest in this culture. The luaus, the food, and
the overall environment is what is drawing me in, and are some of the more intriguing aspects of the
Hawaiian culture. One of the main events we are attending is the luau. A luau is a Hawaiian feast or
party that is typically accompanied by dancing, chanting, and entertainment. Upon our arrival,
standing by the entrance is a Polynesian man and woman who are eager to greet my family. They have
provided us with leis, necklaces with flowers or ferns, that we are to wear around the neck. The luau
began with a large feast of kalua pig, poi, Hawaiian sweet potatoes, fish, chicken long rice, lomilomi
salmon, squid, and various types of tropical fruits. An imu is an underground oven where the meat is
cooked, which is how the type of pig being served at the luau has been

Juxtaposition In Eveline
Safe at Shore All the seas of the world tumbled about her heart (Joyce 1559) as Eveline confronted the
dawn of new life that posed the liberation of her hard, dark past. Set in the early 20th century of
Ireland, author James Joyce sets the story Eveline upon the era of seeking self identity in the
progression of a new world. With the integration of trade among countries across the world, new ideas
and opportunities invaded the familiar lands of certain conformities that hindered individuals from
achieving their aspirations. The protagonist Eveline is introduced to readers as an individual
contemplating on whether to hold onto the comfort of her hard, abusive childhood or relish in the
newfound opportunity of a better life of love upon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eveline falls in love with a young man named Frank, whom held all the qualities that she had ever
dreamed of. He was very kind, manly, open hearted (Joyce 1558), opposite of her father, and presented
her with a feeling of cherishment she never experienced before. Frank would save her..give her life,
perhaps love too (Joyce 1559) and was the literal passageway to the life she hoped for. Although she
wants to believe that she does deserve the right to be happy, she is overwhelmed with guilt in leaving
all that she ever cared about behind. She finds it difficult to break her mother s dying wish of
remaining an obedient daughter and to stop being the caretaker of the family. Life is unthinkable
without them; paradoxically the prospect of a romantic new life in Argentina represents to her a
terrifying death of the self (Spinks 59), because she feels that she is made up from her family s pain
and leaving it all behind would entail that she would also lose her identity. She wants to escape her
father s violence, be respected, and explore the world but believed daydreams shows a desire to be
more or have more than what is available in reality, and ultimately in each case the dream is
disappointed (Halloran 36). This reveals Joyce s satire of fear in change because of the unknown
future. If she

Invention of the Automobile Essay
Invention of the Automobile
In the beginning, man s only form of transportation was his own feet. Later, to comfort his journey on
foot, was the invention of footwear. Through envy of the speed of other animals he would learn to
tame these animals. People who live in the desert ride atop camels. The people who live in the frigid
climates travel by dogs. Some people from places like India ride elephants. But the must widely used
form of transportation by animal power was by horse. Man would soon develop boats and ships to
travel long distances over water and time would flow like the rivers and hundreds of years later, in the
late 1700s steam power became the new craze. Steam power got the wheels turning amongst many
inventors who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interesting to note is that the only invention he made was a two cycle internal combustion engine. The
automobile today has items that are critical to have. If a major car company were to produce a car
powered only by Lenoir s engine it would never sell because of the essentials.
THE ESSENTIALS The essentials are the necessary parts for an automobile to be an automobile in
today s world. If someone were to build an automobile like that of Lenoir s today it would be nothing
more than a go kart. No one would call it an automobile. Automobiles need certain things other than
just an engine and a horse carriage to be considered an automobile today for two reasons. One reason
is so someone will actually buy it and another is because it s the item is required by law. In 1861 a
German engineer named Nikolaus August Otto built his first gasoline powered engine. Three years
later he would team up with Eugen Langen to form the Deutz Gas Engine Factory. Otto s engine was
based on the same principles of Lenoir s. It was also a two stroke engine with one cylinder but it used
the different type of fuel, gasoline rather than coal gas. Otto and Langen learned of a way to gain more
efficiency by compressing the gas before combustion in 1867. This led them to production of the first
four stroke

Abe Lincoln and Slavery Essay example
Abraham was born a poor farmhand boy in Kentucky, but he moved from small cabins in Kentucky,
Indiana, and finally settled in Illinois. He was a farmhand for his father in these states and didn t have
much exposure to slavery, although, these states did have black/slave laws. Lincoln got his first dose
of slavery at the age of eighteen when he was hired to take a flatboat down to New Orleans. I quote
from Lincoln: A Photobiography Lincoln would never forget the site of black men, women, and
children being driven along in chains and being auctioned off like cattle. This still didn t change his
opinion on slavery (he didn t have one). In 1846, after experience in law and the Illinois state

In 1858 Lincoln fought against Stephen Douglas in a battle for the senate. They held three debates,
Lincoln strongly favoring abolition while Douglas stayed at a position in which he believed in white
supremacy saying, I am not in favor of Negro equality . At this point in his life Lincoln was a leading
abolitionist and fully fledged against slavery. Lincoln lost the election by a slim margin but didn t even
stop fighting; in fact the fight had just begun. Lincoln was elected to run for the Republican president
in 1860. Lincoln new that since he strongly despised slavery that he wasn t going to win any slave
states; so he strongly campaigned in the north. For this action he became the president elect. Because
of his election, South Carolina seceded from the union. Lincoln wanted to preserve the union without
bloodshed, but that didn t happen. At the beginning of the Civil War Lincoln believed that it was being
fought to preserve the union, but then he strongly believed it was because of the issue of slavery. Also
at first he believed that he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1863 as a war
measure, but then he realized that he wrote it because he knew that slavery was inhumane and he
needed to do something a bout it. So, in the winter of 1864 he pushed congress to pass an amendment
forever banning slavery. It was passed on January 31, 1865. Lincoln felt so strongly against slavery
that he ended it forever. Lincoln fought for

Language, Exemplar, And Goodness Of Fit
Language, Exemplar, and Goodness of Fit
Although it is clear that human language is a very different communication system than those of other
species. The jury is still out on the issue of whether language is a really a system different from other
human cognitive systems. The status of language is a major issue for cognitive psychology.
Human Language
The ability to separate the essential aspects of human language from the properties of a particular
language can shed light on how language is developed and where the differences come from. A
principle feature of human language is the duality of patterning. It enables us to use our language in a
very economic way for a virtually infinite production of linguistic units. All human language have a
small limited set of speech sounds. The human brain has featured strongly associated with language.
The human language contains discrete units, which would serve to disqualify the bee language system.
Humans require a language to have discrete units is not just an arbitrary regulation to disqualify. The
discreteness enables the elements of the language to be combined into an almost infinite number of
phrase structures and for these phrase structures to be transformed. It is a striking fact that all people
in the world, even those in isolated communities, speak a language.
No other species spontaneously use a communication system anything like human language. All
reasonable people would concede that there is some special connection

One positive aspect is the instillation of hope. Solomon (2004) explains that the instillation of hope
occurs through positive self disclosure. This positive self disclosure demonstrates to the service
recipient that it is possible to go from being controlled by the illness to gaining some control over the
illness, from being a victim to being the hero of one s own life journey (Davidson, Bellamy, Guy,
Miller, 2012, p 125). In addition to instilling hope, certified peer specialists can be seen as role
models. As Davidson et al. (2012) explain this role modeling function can be expanded to include self
care of one s illness and exploring new ways of using experimental knowledge or street smarts in
negotiating day to day life which can include dealing with limited income resources, unstable housing,
overcoming stigma, discrimination and trauma. In addition to the above mentioned benefits, the use of
certified peer specialist may also be associated with reducing the overall cost of mental health
treatment. Research by Chinman, Weingarten, Stayner, Davidson (2001) has suggested that utilizing
peer supports has decreased hospitalization rate along with shortening hospital stays which can be
considered one of the most expensive parts of mental health treatment. Several studies have also
provided evidence that utilizing

Life Lessons In This Is Water By David Foster Wallace
Many people are self centered, it s part of who they are. This is seen every day in the modern world, a
lot of people only care about themselves. David Foster Wallace is an author of many short stories. This
is Water is arguably the best and strongest story he has ever written. This is Water was a
commencement speech given at Kenyon College. This speech/short story, whatever you want to call it,
provides many examples as to how life is not perceived as it should be.
This is Water by David Foster Wallace is a short story that provides many life lessons. Lessons, for
example, the world does not spin around yourself. Also, it educates the lesson that you should not live
as though your fate is already chosen. Go for broke if there is a chance to affect your life emphatically.
Additionally, if not for the sacrifices of numerous people, we would not have similar freedoms that we
live within our day to say life. Ultimately, life isn t an assurance, you should know, know that things
happen, great and terrible, yet it s the way you respond that influences your life to all around lived.
David Foster Wallaces first lesson in his short story, in which he gets to the point that th world does
not revolve around you is supported by a couple of quotes that he uses. He says, everything he
experiences supports his deep belief that the world revolves around him, he is the most important
person in existence. It is almost like everything that happens in his world, happens around him.

Completing An EPQ On Colour Qualia
Completing an EPQ on colour qualia, which had me delve into a mixture of Psychology and
Philosophy, was one of the most enjoyable highlights of my entire school experience. This was but an
echo of my infatuation for these subjects. My attention has been captured by the eccentricities of many
different fields of study over the years of my life. I cannot, however, realistically say that any area can
maintain a strong enough grip upon me to keep me passionately motivated to pursue them as a life
path. This is with the exception of Psychology (and related areas of Philosophy).
I ve had an intrinsic obsession with Psychology long before knowing of the academic discipline, and
always wondered what made people act so differently from one another, yet so similar in differing
mannerisms. At age 6, this developed further when I tried resolving the issues causing my parents

breaths then jot down the reasons making them discontent the other. I then got them to put what they
liked about the other before swapping the papers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Day Died Of Heart Attack
Ibbad Hussain
The Perfect day is when I was on a picnic with my family at Karachi beach in
Pakistan. The summertime there is when the day is extremely hot and the ocean exceedingly breezy.
On this perfect day as I recall, the mist of the salty ocean water dampened the face and the smell of the
sizzling burger patties wafted in the air. My Grandfather whom I called Big G , the reason that calling
him Big G is his biggest pet peeve. On this perfect day, Big G made the greasiest, succulent burger I
have ever eaten and that day I ate four full size burgers. I know it s a lot of food to eat one time, but I
can t help it; they were just so mouth watering. Only if things lasted forever, I wish he were still alive
to make another one today just like on this perfect day.
Big G on the perfect day died of heart attack due to lack of proper medications. The heart attack
happened because Big G had high cholesterol, which was not reduced by proper medications like it is
in America. As an effect of improper medications for the high cholesterol condition, any sort of minor
physical activity had serious consequences. On this perfect day, Big G was playing Badminton with
me, and as the game progressed, the physical condition worsened into a sudden heart attack. My
parents rushed Big G to the hospital, but on the way hope was lost. When the ambulance arrived at the
hospital, burial forms had to be filled out instead of hospital admittance forms. I cried my heart out

Analysis Of Under The Influence By Scott Russell Sanders
From a brief reading of Under the Influence , by Scott Russell Sanders, one can understand being
shamed and being condemned for actions that is not their own fault, but instead brought upon
themselves as a consequence of others. Son of an alcoholic, Sanders was a deprived man, who
believes himself a criminal. However, the crime, which he has set in stone is a debt that can truly
never be fulfilled, because the victim is already dead. To exact life into the meaning over Sander s
adversity is to invade within the depths of the man s skeleton closet; by understanding the meaning
behind inner privacy between father and son. The bond between father and son can be said as the man
s greatest fortunate or self inflicted trauma, in Sander s reality it proves to be the latter, as it latches
itself on to his son. The series of misfortune events continues delegate, not only in Sander s past
reality, but also in his present. Writing as a memoir to dead father, writing as a note to his son, and
writing as an outlet of relief can all be explained as the purposes of the narrative. However, this offsets
who it is actually to himself, as a reminder to not become his father.
Although tribulations can destroy and wreak havoc on a person, it prepares individuals to take on the
complete misery of life. The relationship between Sanders and his father cannot be considered a tragic
ending, in another way it is a fundamental part of Sanders perseverance against the grievances of daily
strife. I

Though the creation shows his feelings similar to humans, he also strives for companionship. The
creature obtains the need to find companionship through another creature and the De Lacey family
because he feels isolated from the world. When trying to visit the De Lacey family for the first time,
the creature points out, I persuaded myself that when they should become acquainted with my
admiration of their virtues, they would compassionate me, and overlook my personal deformity
(Shelley 111). Similarly, the creation also decided to confront Victor. His prideful creator who
abandons him, and discusses his isolation when the creature declares, I am alone, and miserable; man
will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself

Zipf Law Speech
(Attention Getter) Hypothetical Question What if I told you the words you speak in everyday
conversation have the ability to predict the size of megacities around the globe, the amount of traffic
websites get, the number of phone calls people received, and even the rate in which we forget?
(Personal Credibility) I first stumbled across this topic a couple months back as I was on Youtube.
This video truly fascinated me and encouraged me to research this topic into greater depth. As a result,
i ve studied this concept in an effort to get a better grasp of understanding this phenomenon and the
degree to which it influences our lives. (Audience Appeal) This topic is important because it is
prevalent in all of our daily lives. Our simple interactions with people in a given day can be used to
predict a variety of different concepts throughout our lives. According to Gapminder.org, 80% of the
world adult population has the ability to read and write. Approximately only 8 in every 10,000 people
are born mute which testifies the magnitude of how words influence a majority of society s daily lives,

Ppar γ gene (Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor Gamma) and 1 sgRNA targets Rag1 gene
(Recombination Activating Gene 1). Cas9 mRNA was synthesized by in vitro transcription of
pST1374 N NLS flag linker Cas9 vector. The RNA mixture was injected into one cell embryos of
Macaca fascicularis.
c. The results were analyzed by 3 steps. First of all, specific regions of the genes were PCR amplified
and visualized on the gel. Secondy, T7EN1 cleavage assay were used to detect sgRNA:Cas9 mediated
on target cleavage of specific genes. Finally, PCR amplified regions were cloned and sequenced to
determine the deletions or insertions.
Question 3
Regarding the findings of this study, writers have infered that Cas9 mRNA and sgRNA mediated
complex was successful in modification of Ppar γ and Rag1 genes without creating any off target
effects in Macaca fascicularis. T7EN1 cleavage assay displayed the cleavage products of these two
genes in placenta, umbilical cord and ear punch tissues in founders and the genetic modifications were
confirmed by DNA sequencing of PCR products. Furthermore, no detectable off target effects were
found in baby monkeys. On the other hand, T7EN1 cleavage assay result of Nr0b1 gene was negative
in umbilical cord in other words no cleavage band was obtained. Finally, different SNPs which were
very close to Rag1 sgRNA target site were compared between

Introduction Of The Crystal Palace
INTRODUCTION
It was like like nothing but itself, unsurpassable, indescribable, unique, amazing, real!
Talli s History and Description of the Crystal Palace and the Exhibition of the World s Industry in
1851
From 1837 to 1901, under the reign of Queen Victoria, Great Britain, with the supremacy of its Royal
Navy, had largely fulfilled its ambition of global imperial expansion in Asia and Africa particularly. As
the British Empire soon became the largest empire in history, this era was later known as the Victorian
Era (John 129).
To further unite nations and demonstrate an imperial industrial and economic leadership of the world,
Queen Victoria s husband, Prince Albert organized the first world s fair, namely, The Great Exhibition
of the Works of Industry of All Nations , at the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London, from May 1 to
October 15 in 1851 (Celik 1). Not only did the diversity of the foreign goods displayed at the
exhibition astonish the publics, but also the Crystal Palace, designed by Joseph Paxton and Owen
Jones, as the striking structure that housed these articles attracted millions of visitors around the world
during 1851 (Fig. 1). Later after the exhibition, the foreign articles were transferred to the South
Kensington Museum (Crinson 65) as part of the Imperial archive (Barringer 11), to promote industrial
and commercial education among domestic artisans and skilled labourers in the next fifty years, with a
hope that the nation s economic growth

Shale And The Shale Formation
Introduction
Over the past few years, new technology has led us to the discovery and development of large supplies
of natural gas within shale plays across the United States. A shale play is a defined geographic area
containing an organic rich fine grained sedimentary rock. Shale gas in the United States is rapidly
increasing as an available source of natural gas.
The purpose of this report is to discuss estimated ultimate reserves of gas, oil, and NGL. Also, to
discuss the drilling and development costs per well for the Eagle Ford shale, the Bakken shale, the
Marcellus shale, and the Tuscaloosa Marine shale. Next, I will comment on the first exploratory well
and the company responsible for the discovery well. I will then discuss the ... Show more content on

The shale play had a $60 billion impact on the local South Texas economy in 2012 and supported
116,000 jobs. Record drilling levels were reported, as well as some wells producing over 4,000 barrels
a day. The Eagle Ford shale is the most active shale play in the world with over 200 rigs running and
is best known for producing dry gas, wet gas, NGLs, and oil. According to the US Energy Information
Administration, the average estimated ultimate recovery (EUR) of wells during 2008 2013 was
168,000 bbl / well. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the estimated amount of technically
recoverable oil is 3.35 billion barrels.
Petrohawk Energy received credit for drilling the first modern day EFS well in 2008. Petrohawk also
completed the discovery of the horizontal well with 10 frac stages along 3,200 ft lateral. Lewis Energy
claims to have drilled the first EFS targeted well in 2002. Wells cost $6.5 to $7.0 million to fully
develop.
Bakken Shale
The Bakken shale ranks as one of the largest oil developments in the U.S. in the past 40 years. The
shale play has driven North Dakota s oil production to levels four times higher than previous peaks in
the 1980s. The Bakken shale play is located in Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota. Oil was
initially discovered in the Bakken play in 1951, but wasn t commercial on a large scale until 10 years
ago. The Bakken oil production is economic due to modern horizontal drilling and hydraulic
fracturing. The U.S.

Struggles of the Dalit Movement in Anand Patwardhan’s...
On the morning of 11th July, 1997, at Ramabai Colony in Mumbai, garland of slippers is seen on the
statue of Dr. Ambedkar. Soon upset Dalits gather to protest against the sacrilege. Within a few hours, a
police van reaches the spot and starts to fire. They fire at people who weren t even protesting, killing
ten people on the spot. Vilas Ghogre, a Dalit Marxist poet and singer, moved by the incident to such
an extent that he committed suicide.
Anand Patwardhan s documentary Jai Bhim Comrade is about Dalit movement and struggle for
recognition of their identity and acceptance of their existence within socio politico economic milieu.
The three hour long movie covers the time period of fourteen years, incorporating layered, personal
narratives of Dalits, their aspirations and their desire to achieve what Ambedkar said in his one of the
most radical texts The Annihilation of Caste , to dismantle the caste system. The film provides an
insight into the cruelty and discrimination against Dalits, which has been naturalized and
institutionalized within our so called progressive Hindu society. Patvardhan is trying to situate various
personal narratives within the larger narrative of Dalit resistance and struggle. I personally found the
movie extremely strong, which renders the audience literally speechless. It shakes one s entire belief
system and forces one to interrogate various pockets of society which collectively form the society as
it is. The movie turns the notion of

A Brief Note On Norwegian Black Metal
Ra ad Rihani

MUS211 Final Paper
Norwegian Black Metal
The Oxford dictionary s definition of Black Metal is a subset of heavy metal music having lyrics that
deal with Satanism and the supernatural . Fans of black metal, or any other music that deals with the
occult, are usually considered outcasts, and some would find it difficult to regard this genre of music,
as Popular , but the growing number of fanatics all over the world, mainly in the Scandinavian
countries, would refute that.
The image in the cover page, is a picture of the three founding members of Mayhem, Per Dead Ohlin,
Oystein Euronymous Aarseth and Jan Helhammer Blomberg. Widely considered as the pioneers of
Norwegian Black Metal, Mayhem will be a focal point of the following paper. The three founding
members are usually regarded as the forefathers of Black Metal. From this image, several important
aspects of Black Metal spring to mind immediately, the leather outfits, spike and bullet accessories
and face paint (also called Corpse Paint ) make up a big portion of what defines a Black Metal artist or
fan.
History and Influences of Norwegian Black Metal In order to delve into the basic intricacies of Black
Metal, we must first consider the history surrounding Black Metal. Why is it that artists and fans alike
of this genre, feel so strongly against Religion, Christianity in particular? Thinking back almost 1000
years, to the 9th Century, Vikings ruled the Scandinavian countries,

Catcher In The Rye Values
Culture Featured in Catcher in the Rye From the novel Catcher in the Rye, the reader can glean several
morals and values, both positive and negative, of 1950 s American culture. There are many values that
can be observed from the novel, such as emphasis on academic success, the ideal man, and the
appearance and acquisition of wealth. There are many, many values that can be determined from the
novel, but those listed are some of the more prominent ones. Some of the aforementioned values are
debatable in terms of morality and ethics, for example the idea of the perfect man and the acquisition
of wealth, while some are lasting values to this day, i.e. education. First and foremost, Holden s
negative experience with the academic world and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Holden, the ideal man is a suave and sexy man that can seduce any girl he wanted, with
or without her consent. Holden is told that he should have sex with anyone and everyone, and that his
statement that he doesn t want to have sex with a girl unless he really likes her is weak. You know
what the trouble with me is? I can never get really sexy I mean really sexy with a girl I don t like a lot.
I mean I have to like her a lot. If I don t, I sort of lose my goddam desire for her and all. Boy, it really
screws up my sex life something awful. My sex life stinks. (Salinger 59). No one ever told him this
position was very admirable. The thing is, most of the time when you re coming pretty close to doing
it with a girl a girl that isn t a prostitute or anything, I mean she keeps telling you to stop. The trouble
with me is, I stop. Most guys don t. (Salinger 50). This further indicates that Holden is rather
admirable when it comes to sex: he wants the girl s permission before he acts. All of this proves that
the 50 s predominantly male society was entitled to sex with whomever they wanted whenever they
wanted

Building And Use Community Resilience

history known as Katrina. In addition, other areas such as Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, where
even affected. However New Orleans took a significant hit in regards to total destruction, death toll,
and last but not least displacement of individuals forced out because of Katrina. Furthermore, I will

resilience prior to Katrina. Plus how did the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New Orleans is a city known largely for its culture involving such things as Mardi Gras, Jazz, Art, and
even the culinary dishes of exotic foods prepared just to name a few things. It is no secret that the city
of New Orleans has faced adversity before when it comes to natural disasters. Furthermore it has been
documented that during the past century hurricanes have flooded New Orleans at least five times: in
1915, 1940, 1947, and 1965. Consequently New Orleans has always been at risk, though due to its
geographical location being that it is utterly bounded by mass amounts of water. Engineers created a
system of levees and barricades with the hopes of trying to keep the city from flooding as they
stretched levees and barricades along the Mississippi river, and other calculated locations that had
been mapped out and listed as possible at risk areas. The Levees were designed for category three
hurricanes, and Katrina peaked at a high of category five. Every levee was breached, and that caused a
catastrophic chain of events to follow shortly after. Within a matter of minutes, eighty percent of New
Orleans was under water when the levees broke, and some areas where about 20ft deep. Residents
were at the mercy of Katrina for those who decided to stay behind and endured the storm. A majority
of residents who stayed behind lived in neighborhoods that sat below sea level, and were generally
built in part of the city s poorest

How did women s rights in the Qing dynasty compare to those in of India s Gupta Empire? Women all around the world were treated differently. Some women were treated better than others but the main focus on this research paper is about the Qing dynasty and Gupta Empire. The rise of the Qing dynasty is provided by the story of a man named Li Zicheng. Li Zicheng was an ironworker who lost his job along many other government paid employees. This occurred because the emperor needed money for more troops in battle to defend Beijing against the attacks the powerful attacks of the Manchus, better known as the Qing dynasty today. • 3. Symbols and Journey Used in Ellison s Book Invisible Man ... In the book Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison and the play Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller the two writers use various symbols to develop the American Literature Theme of The Journey. Two important symbols Ellison uses in Invisible Man are dreams and the narrator s briefcase. Two important symbols in Death of a Salesman are diamonds and the car. Ellison and Miller use these symbols to take their characters through their life s journey, whether physical or metaphorical. The portentous dream the narrator has in the beginning of Invisible Man foreshadows his whole journey throughout the book. In the his dream at the end of the first chapter, he finds an envelope in his briefcase that says, To Whom It May Concern, Keep this Nigger Boy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The briefcase holds the contents of the narrator s past; it haunts him and he cannot relieve himself of it until the very end. When he is burning the contents he becomes a phoenix rising from the ashes to a new life, a new journey. Within the briefcase is his high school diploma, the piece of paper with his new identity on it that was given to him by the Brotherhood, Clifton s doll, the anonymous letter from Jack. All of these things were a part of his old identities, always with him in that briefcase. In Death of a Salesman, the diamonds are Willy s past and future, what could have been and what could be. Ben tells Willy in one final scene, The jungle is dark but full of diamonds, Willy. One must go in to fetch a diamond out. It s dark there, but full of diamonds (Miller 1993). Willy had the opportunity to go with Ben to find real diamonds, real happiness. He missed his first chance and instead he must now die to find the happiness, the diamond in the rough. The car is the way for Willy to reach true happiness, no worries; a means of transportation eventually to Willy s death. Willy s life never amounted to anything much in the end and he needed to escape. The car is his ferry to the afterlife, to his happiness. The first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The activities of the livestock were very effective in clearing the understory and preventing the regeneration of forests. Farming practices especially tobacco agriculture, which was so widespread in Tidewater Maryland included the frequent clearing of fields and their later abandonment due to exhausted soils, which led to the fragmentation of forests and the creation of patchwork landscapes. Dr. S.O. Young, a Cline acquaintance, was drawn by the sheer power of the storm as it assailed his home. Opening the door to a second floor gallery, he hauled himself outside and was immediately pinned to the exterior wall by 125 mph winds. He remained there, agape, as he surveyed the unfolding drama. Waves swept through Young s neighborhood, writes Larson, propelling huge pieces of wreckage. Within minutes, the only other house still standing began a slow pirouette, rose like a huge steamboat . . . and suddenly disappeared with the occupants, a family of four, still inside. My feelings were indescribable as I saw them go, Young later recounted. Finally, the rescuers came. As many as 500 dead, some were told. • 9. Compare And Contrast Annie Dillard And Virginia Woolf Despite any futile resistance, each living creature eventually succumbs to the forces of death. Ultimately, death is a part of living. Death is inevitable. Likewise, although a diminutive moth may appear to be insignificant and pathetic, it can symbolize the true connections between the duality of life and death and human beings. For instance, Annie Dillard and Virginia Woolf illustrate similar, universal messages about the value of life through the metaphor of a moth. However, the manner in which they portray their themes and purpose varies, for their personal experiences and writing styles influence their perspectives of life and death. Unlike Annie Dillard, Virginia Woolf was an essayist during the turbulence of the early twentieth century, where she witnessed the atrocities of both world wars and the lack of women in the intellectual realm. Ultimately, Woolf decided to end her own life by drowning herself. Therefore, her views of life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, as the moth in Woolf s essay begins to face death, her syntax becomes less complex, with shorter sentences and less connected ideas. Likewise, the vocabulary of Dillard s work is not as advanced, whereas Woolf would include complex diction to create a more formal tone. Furthermore, the tone of both writers provides different emotional senses to take away from the piece. For instance, Woolf concludes her essay by stating that death is stronger than her, whereas Dillard writes of her lively conversations with fellow writers. • 10. Walmart International And International Analysis Walmart International Analysis Throughout the years, Walmart s strategy is being a great formula of success in the United States and they kept growing in a way that there was nothing else to go because the market was so saturated in America that if they wanted to grow and produce more profits, they would have to do something else. Along with the saturation of the market, Walmart realized that the American population was only 4% of the global population and there was 96% of the population out from America that could be explored, and there were developing countries that had a great potential to make profits to Walmart. Due to the saturation of the American market, opportunity in developing countries to grow and most of the population of America, the most natural way to keep growing and creating opportunities to grow in fact was going to do business with international markets. Then, in 1991, Walmart decided that they would expand to the international market and their first target was their neighbor in North America, Mexico. In Mexico, they went a 50/50 joint venture with Cifra group that was the leader chain in Mexico, and they had a great success there, and then they bought more shares. Even though Walmart was a success in Mexico, does the Walmart America s formula fit in every other culture? Although our nation strives to be united, it is apparent that there are many situations where we are divided. However, in Hawaii, I am finding that these types of experiences are easily attainable. It s Saturday, May 10, 2014, and I have just arrived in Waikiki, Hawaii for my Make a Wish. Everyone is chanting, singing, praising, and just appearing together as one. My goal for the week is to learn more about the culture, its traditions, and its people. Hawaii is a place with an incredible history and culture, much different from mine. That is why I have so much interest in this culture. The luaus, the food, and the overall environment is what is drawing me in, and are some of the more intriguing aspects of the Hawaiian culture. One of the main events we are attending is the luau. A luau is a Hawaiian feast or party that is typically accompanied by dancing, chanting, and entertainment. Upon our arrival, standing by the entrance is a Polynesian man and woman who are eager to greet my family. They have provided us with leis, necklaces with flowers or ferns, that we are to wear around the neck. The luau began with a large feast of kalua pig, poi, Hawaiian sweet potatoes, fish, chicken long rice, lomilomi salmon, squid, and various types of tropical fruits. Juxtaposition In Eveline Safe at Shore All the seas of the world tumbled about her heart (Joyce 1559) as Eveline confronted the dawn of new life that posed the liberation of her hard, dark past. Set in the early 20th century of Ireland, author James Joyce sets the story Eveline upon the era of seeking self identity in the progression of a new world. With the integration of trade among countries across the world, new ideas and opportunities invaded the familiar lands of certain conformities that hindered individuals from achieving their aspirations. He was very kind, manly, open hearted (Joyce 1558), opposite of her father, and presented her with a feeling of cherishment she never experienced before. Frank would save her..give her life, perhaps love too (Joyce 1559) and was the literal passageway to the life she hoped for. Although she wants to believe that she does deserve the right to be happy, she is overwhelmed with guilt in leaving all that she ever cared about behind. She finds it difficult to break her mother s dying wish of remaining an obedient daughter and to stop being the caretaker of the family. Life is unthinkable without them; paradoxically the prospect of a romantic new life in Argentina represents to her a terrifying death of the self (Spinks 59), because she feels that she is made up from her family s pain and leaving it all behind would entail that she would also lose her identity. She wants to escape her father s violence, be respected, and explore the world but believed daydreams shows a desire to be more or have more than what is available in reality, and ultimately in each case the dream is disappointed (Halloran 36). Later, to comfort his journey on foot, was the invention of footwear. Through envy of the speed of other animals he would learn to tame these animals. People who live in the desert ride atop camels. The people who live in the frigid climates travel by dogs. Some people from places like India ride elephants. But the must widely used form of transportation by animal power was by horse. If a major car company were to produce a car powered only by Lenoir s engine it would never sell because of the essentials. THE ESSENTIALS The essentials are the necessary parts for an automobile to be an automobile in today s world. If someone were to build an automobile like that of Lenoir s today it would be nothing more than a go kart. No one would call it an automobile. Automobiles need certain things other than just an engine and a horse carriage to be considered an automobile today for two reasons. One reason is so someone will actually buy it and another is because it s the item is required by law. In 1861 a German engineer named Nikolaus August Otto built his first gasoline powered engine. Three years later he would team up with Eugen Langen to form the Deutz Gas Engine Factory. Otto s engine was based on the same principles of Lenoir s. It was also a two stroke engine with one cylinder but it used the different type of fuel, gasoline rather than coal gas. At this point in his life Lincoln was a leading abolitionist and fully fledged against slavery. Lincoln lost the election by a slim margin but didn t even stop fighting; in fact the fight had just begun. Lincoln was elected to run for the Republican president in 1860. Lincoln new that since he strongly despised slavery that he wasn t going to win any slave states; so he strongly campaigned in the north. For this action he became the president elect. Because of his election, South Carolina seceded from the union. Lincoln wanted to preserve the union without bloodshed, but that didn t happen. At the beginning of the Civil War Lincoln believed that it was being fought to preserve the union, but then he strongly believed it was because of the issue of slavery. Also at first he believed that he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1863 as a war measure, but then he realized that he wrote it because he knew that slavery was inhumane and he needed to do something a bout it. So, in the winter of 1864 he pushed congress to pass an amendment forever banning slavery. It was passed on January 31, 1865. Lincoln felt so strongly against slavery that he ended it forever. • 16. Language, Exemplar, And Goodness Of Fit Language, Exemplar, and Goodness of Fit Although it is clear that human language is a very different communication system than those of other species. The jury is still out on the issue of whether language is a really a system different from other human cognitive systems. The status of language is a major issue for cognitive psychology. Human Language The ability to separate the essential aspects of human language from the properties of a particular language can shed light on how language is developed and where the differences come from. A principle feature of human language is the duality of patterning. It enables us to use our language in a very economic way for a virtually infinite production of linguistic units. All human language have a small limited set of speech sounds. The human brain has featured strongly associated with language. The human language contains discrete units, which would serve to disqualify the bee language system. Humans require a language to have discrete units is not just an arbitrary regulation to disqualify. The discreteness enables the elements of the language to be combined into an almost infinite number of phrase structures and for these phrase structures to be transformed. It is a striking fact that all people in the world, even those in isolated communities, speak a language. No other species spontaneously use a communication system anything like human language. This positive self disclosure demonstrates to the service recipient that it is possible to go from being controlled by the illness to gaining some control over the illness, from being a victim to being the hero of one s own life journey (Davidson, Bellamy, Guy, Miller, 2012, p 125). This is seen every day in the modern world, a lot of people only care about themselves. David Foster Wallace is an author of many short stories. This is Water is arguably the best and strongest story he has ever written. This is Water was a commencement speech given at Kenyon College. This speech/short story, whatever you want to call it, provides many examples as to how life is not perceived as it should be. This is Water by David Foster Wallace is a short story that provides many life lessons. Lessons, for example, the world does not spin around yourself. Also, it educates the lesson that you should not live as though your fate is already chosen. Go for broke if there is a chance to affect your life emphatically. Additionally, if not for the sacrifices of numerous people, we would not have similar freedoms that we live within our day to say life. Ultimately, life isn t an assurance, you should know, know that things happen, great and terrible, yet it s the way you respond that influences your life to all around lived. David Foster Wallaces first lesson in his short story, in which he gets to the point that th world does not revolve around you is supported by a couple of quotes that he uses. He says, everything he experiences supports his deep belief that the world revolves around him, he is the most important person in existence. Completing An EPQ On Colour Qualia Completing an EPQ on colour qualia, which had me delve into a mixture of Psychology and Philosophy, was one of the most enjoyable highlights of my entire school experience. I cannot, however, realistically say that any area can maintain a strong enough grip upon me to keep me passionately motivated to pursue them as a life path. This is with the exception of Psychology (and related areas of Philosophy). The summertime there is when the day is extremely hot and the ocean exceedingly breezy. On this perfect day as I recall, the mist of the salty ocean water dampened the face and the smell of the sizzling burger patties wafted in the air. My Grandfather whom I called Big G , the reason that calling him Big G is his biggest pet peeve. On this perfect day, Big G made the greasiest, succulent burger I have ever eaten and that day I ate four full size burgers. I know it s a lot of food to eat one time, but I can t help it; they were just so mouth watering. Only if things lasted forever, I wish he were still alive to make another one today just like on this perfect day. Big G on the perfect day died of heart attack due to lack of proper medications. The heart attack happened because Big G had high cholesterol, which was not reduced by proper medications like it is in America. As an effect of improper medications for the high cholesterol condition, any sort of minor physical activity had serious consequences. On this perfect day, Big G was playing Badminton with me, and as the game progressed, the physical condition worsened into a sudden heart attack. Analysis Of Under The Influence By Scott Russell Sanders From a brief reading of Under the Influence , by Scott Russell Sanders, one can understand being shamed and being condemned for actions that is not their own fault, but instead brought upon themselves as a consequence of others. Son of an alcoholic, Sanders was a deprived man, who believes himself a criminal. However, the crime, which he has set in stone is a debt that can truly never be fulfilled, because the victim is already dead. To exact life into the meaning over Sander s adversity is to invade within the depths of the man s skeleton closet; by understanding the meaning behind inner privacy between father and son. The bond between father and son can be said as the man s greatest fortunate or self inflicted trauma, in Sander s reality it proves to be the latter, as it latches itself on to his son. The series of misfortune events continues delegate, not only in Sander s past reality, but also in his present. Writing as a memoir to dead father, writing as a note to his son, and writing as an outlet of relief can all be explained as the purposes of the narrative. However, this offsets who it is actually to himself, as a reminder to not become his father. Although tribulations can destroy and wreak havoc on a person, it prepares individuals to take on the complete misery of life. The relationship between Sanders and his father cannot be considered a tragic ending, in another way it is a fundamental part of Sanders perseverance against the grievances of daily strife. I ...
