Analysis Of Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading...
Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading Holofernes
Although now praised for her work as an incredibly accomplished, feminist artist, Artemisia
Gentileschi s works were nearly expunged from history by those who believed her incapable of
such skill. As a female painter in the 17th century she faced innumerable challenges in pursuing
work as an artist, including, but not limited to; her exclusion from apprenticeship in the arts, the
damage sustained to her reputation after a lengthy rape trial in which she was tortured to prove
her credibility and subsequent defamation after the trial. After her death critics claimed her work
as her father s or husband s, not until recently did she begin to see the credit she deserved
(Poggioli, 2016). One of her most famous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These works both demonstrate her use of dramatic chiaroscuro, most likely as a result of the
influence of Caravaggio in her training, and her vivid use of color, as well as her ability to capture
a moment in time on canvas (Art History Archive).
In Judith Slaying Holofernes (V. II.) circa 1620, Gentileschi depicts the climactic moment of the
biblical story in which Judith, with the help of her maidservant, decapitates Holofernes. While a
popular subject to be painted at the time, Gentileschi s depiction is unique in the way that she
...creates a far more violent and graphic scene, dramatizing the intense physical effort required on
the part of Judith and her maid to kill their enemy... (Visual Arts Cork). In fact, Cosimo de
Medici, for whom this work was commissioned for, kept the work hidden from public view on
account of how graphic it was (Conliffe, 2016). Her portrayal differs greatly from the way many
painters at the time painted this story, specifically in the way that both Judith and her maidservant
are much more physically and purposefully involved in this act of violence. It is important to

The Negative Portrayal Of Public Relations
Starting to purse an education in Public Relations, I received a lot of comments like, you won t
even get a job, you re taking a degree to learn how to manipulate people, isn t that just planning
parties? after a while I ve came up with some pretty keen responses to these uneducated comments
made by uneducated people. When learning I had to do a research paper, I figured what better
thing to look into but why the public relationsprofession is viewed so negatively. My findings?
Media. Public relations is viewed so negatively in the media why would people think anything
differently? When you type public relations into Google things like manipulator, Sex and the City,

The negative portrayal of public relations in media has created a bias for those entering the field
and working in the field. This impacts society by giving them a negative view when they re
really just uneducated on the profession. My grandmother, being 85 when explaining to her what
I was planning to do with my life I made sure that public relations sounded exciting and useful and
that stuck with her and that is what she will tell her friends, and our relatives. But for example
when someone researches on it and finds only negative things, they will spread that, they will
repeat the negative things they read and the key terms like manipulator, schemer, controller will be
used and thought of pertaining to the profession. Media has an extreme influence on everyone
these days, especially the newer generations to come. Why when looking for a future job would
someone follow a path of something people view as negative? As a joke, As a wedding planner
with no jobs? Media is ruining the reputation of public relations with its harsh assumptions, its
movie characters with their easy, boring, unchallenging careers, and just uneducated people writing
stories on how they ve been manipulated by someone in the public relations profession.
To begin with, the view of public relations in television shows and movies can have a large

Comparing Islamic Art In Ancient China And The Islam World
Have you wondered why Islamic art and ancient Chinese art look similar sometimes and look
different at other times? The art styles of ancient China and the Islam world have some similarities
and some differences. I ll be going over the similarities first. then the differences of the two styles
of art.
There are less similarities in these two styles of art, so it ll be easier to talk about them first. The
first thing these two styles have in common are that they both used were funeral buildings. Islam
had a mosque, which was also a place of worship while China also had mosque, but their mosque
came a bit later in history. Another similarity would be in the fact both styles had a sacred style
of writing called calligraphy. Calligraphy was a highly regarded skill and usually only the highest
of nobles could learn it. In China, however, women more commonly practiced this sacred art.
There was also art in later styles of each that had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first and most important difference is that in early Islamic art there was no portraits, or
pictures of humans or Allah. This was because Mohammed preached that doing so would create an
icon to worship instead of worshipping Allah himself. While in China it was a custom to have art
of the family and family tree because ancestors were the main source for that time period and
religion. The next difference in the styles of art is the different facial features, mostly the eyelids,
in both cultures. The difference in the facial features came from the fact that both cultures were
ethnically different and had different facial features. The final important difference in the arts
were the religious art both cultures had. As I mentioned earlier, early Islamic art didn t have
pictures of Allah or humans so there wouldn t be an icon created to worship instead of Allah
himself. The ancient Chinese religion had to do with ancestors and was eased out by Daoism and

The Day Of The Family Farm Days
The days of the family farm days are over. For decades, there has been such an exorbitant
consumer demand for pork products. The consumer demand is so high that pork is now a
multibillion dollar industry, Swann (2014). Now the family farm has evolved into what critics call
factory farms due to high consumer demand for affordable meatporkproducts in the United States
(p.43).
This mass production calls for animals to be forced to live in confined spaces and operate a
breeding system for mass production. The system of confinement is a 114 day gestation period in
a sow gestation stall, about two feet wide by seven feet long (p.43).
Although pork producers maintain that their facilities are safe, the Humane Society of the United ...

Animal welfare is looking to decrease the issue of mass production of pork there is also Animal
rights groups, such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), advocate for vegan or
meatless diets. Eating animals, they contend, is cruel (p.47).
Those in the business of selling pork have their own argument claiming that they do not mistreat
animals, they even go so far as to claim that they, take great care to feed and shelter their animals
properly. In fact, the pork industry argues gestation stalls are a safer and more nutritional way to
raise sows indoors (p.46). This is a perfect example of managing perception (Moore, 2014). Plato
s Republic and Sir Thomas Moore s Utopia (1516), agree that communication in civic society
can be used to deceive. They assert that there is a moral challenge to deceive and communicate
(p.24). Moore (2014), also asserts that there are similarities between The Republic and
Machiavelli s The Prince (1513), who advise rulers how to manage media to hold onto power by
using deceit if necessary, rather than by cultivating virtue in individual citizens. The pork industry,
similar to Plato s philosophy in The Republic, is a proponent of the abuse of power and a little
necessary dishonesty (p,25).
The fact that the pork industry organizations make a profit and collect a small fee for every hog
sold in the U.S. and on imported hogs or pork products, generating about $78 million

What Is The Defiance Of The Hippie Generation
To what extent is the defiance of the hippie generation reincarnated into the lives of the youth of
today?
Fifty seven years ago the Hippie; a young person who reject the mores of established society and
advocates a non violent ethnic made a tremendous amount of differences in the lives around them
and within themselves. They brought change worldwide and stood risen for their beliefs stood risen
to the point whereby many suggest that the defiance of the hippie generation has reincarnated into
the lives of the youth today, still rising. Their ability to openly resist against the government, and
society itself left the world and mostly their elders in awe. In relation with the youth of today it in

This source gives some background to the 1960s movements and with close reference to today s
youth, it is clear that although by means of violent out breaks from occasion to occasion due to
the frustration students are experiencing with regards to corrupt government. As the student
protests make headlines, it s like you can see the student protest from the 1960 s in your head, a
resemblance of young people who stand up for what they believe in. Now although the matters
being fought for in the two era s are completely different and whereby some might argue and say
that what the youth is fighting for today is not as serious to what the youth fought for in the 60 s,
but those must remember it is a different era, with different problems but still the students rise up
for what they believe in and stand tall, just like the hippies did. [Source A and Source B]
Now the defiance of the hippie generation; meaning the open resistance, the refusal to obey rules
by this generation could be viewed in one way or one could look deeper and further whereby one
can not only look at how the hippies are reincarnated into the youth of today in terms of protests
and voices opinions but also in terms of breaking rules in the way on is expected to live. It was
always said that one should keep ones sexuality secret and it was in the 1960 s when sexuality
was no secret, woman did not care about whom they slept with and no one else really cared

Old Spice Masculinity
On the notion of Masculinity in The Man Your Man Could Smell Like
Old Spice s 2010 Commercial The Man Your Man Could Smell Like paints a truly unique image
of masculinity. On the one hand, the ad s uninterrupted shot and the actor s nonchalant demeanor
and wit leave us in awe. On the other hand, though, it also begs its viewers to sit back and reflect:
Wait...what did I just see? The ad markets Old Spice deodorants to female as well as male
audiences by directly associating them with the idea of hyper masculinity, insinuating that men who
use Old Spice deodorants possess the capability to accomplish virtually anything. For instance, the
Old Spice Man is depicted on a boat, possessing diamonds, and riding a horse (Old Spice). While

One can arguably claim that the expedients through which masculinity is portrayed in the video the
possession of diamonds, an abundance of wealth, an attractive physique are perhaps some of the
extreme yet most commonly cited characteristics of masculinity in society. They are the set of
actions with which we associate masculinity. Thus, the ad seems to capitalize upon these
characteristics in its depiction of masculinity: the Old Spice Man is well endowed with all of these
characteristics he is the alpha male. However, the ad targets only a few ideas associated with
masculinity, thus essentializing its performance of masculinity to merely a set of certain hyper
masculine characteristics. This enables us to see the essentially performative nature of masculinity,
and explains the ad s ridiculous simplification of

Summary Of Junot Diaz s Instructional Manual
An individual s identity is strongly influenced by their ethnic background and the environment
that surrounded them. Due to this, a majority of the world will perceive a person differently and
create stereotypes, which then compels them to treat others differently in order to accommodate
to that person. In Junot Diaz s instructional manual, How to date a brown girl (black girl, white
girl, or halfie) , he depicts different scenarios of dates in the perspective of a boy who is Latino
and from the Terrace, a ghetto neighborhood. He talks about the different ways to treat a girl based
on their raceand what neighborhood they came from, as well as the various reactions each kind of
girl will make. He categorizes an insider as Latino or someone... Show more content on

In the same situation of possibly meeting the boy s acquaintance, an outsider will choose to react
contrary to an insider, as described by the narrator, If the girl s an outsider she will hiss and say,
What a f*** asshole (Diaz 2). By doing this, she is being more conservative about her actions
towards people who come from a different neighborhood than her, because an outsider should not
create a situation that they will not be able to handle. Moreover, by being an outsider, she feels
intimidated visiting an area where she is not familiar with the people and the environment.
Furthermore, even before meeting, an outsider s parents will feel discomfort taking their daughter
to an unfamiliar area, as the narrator claims, Neither of them want her seeing any boys from the
Terrace (Diaz 1). Compared to an insider that is accustomed to the Terrace, an outsider has
difficulty being comfortable in this area because they are used to being insiders in their own
neighborhood, not in a different one. Even the narrator can see that encountering others from the
Terrace makes an outsider feel somewhat uneasy, considering they are not familiar with the people.
So due to the fact that they feel insecure staying within this environment displays how they are seen
as outsiders to those who live in the

Analysis Of I Heard A Fly Buzz When I Died
Emily Dickinson s I heard a Fly buzz when I died describes a death speaker looks back the
moment of his or her death. Using the objects like the storm, the fly and the melancholy of the
people around to express the mood of the speaker, Dickinson reveals that faces the death, the
speaker is afraid at first, but finally, the speaker finds the calmness and peace inside herself or
himself. Like I heard a Fly buzz when I died , After Deathalso addresses a moment before death.
Rossetti uses the death as a compensation of the tragic love He did not love me living; but once

But they gather together to witness the final performance of the speaker.
Then, Dickinson keeps providing the detailed imagery in the room, and shows the people s reaction
to the speaker s death:
The Eyes around had wrung them dry
And Breaths were gathering firm
For that last Onset when the King
Be witnessed in the Room (Dickinson, lines 5 8)
People are sad and sorrow, and maybe they are the speaker s family members and friends. Their
eyes are like sponges, and crying is stretching the tears out of the sponges and had [has] wrung
them dry . Breaths have touchable weight and shape that can be gathered together and get
firmed. Dickinson endows new property to the breath and cry. This provides a vivid picture in
the room like people are sobbing and weeping weakly, and the same feeling as if our audience is
part of the people around the speaker. Then Dickinson describes the mental world of the people.
They are waiting and to witness the King Death in their own eyes.
What does the last moment look like? Is it horrified? Dickinson gives her answer in the last stanza:
With Blue uncertain stumbling Buzz
Between the light and me
And then the Windows failed and then
I could not see to see (Dickinson, lines 13 16)
There are many symbols in this stanza: a light, blue color, a buzz, and windows. I consider the light
is a symbol of heaven and the fly is the speaker s soul because flies have wings just as angles.

Reflection In The Language Of The Grendel
The tone that is contained in the extract to great extent is a candid tone. The use of inverted
sentence brands the candid tone to the stanzas in which they are found. For instance, to rest had
gone communicates the original meaning as when the inverted sentence may not be in use.
However, the inversion makes the stanza sound more poetic or lyrical. Another tone present in the
inverted sentences is conversational tone (Lombardi). However, the conversational tone is made to
sound more formal and as mentioned earlier, poetic, from the use of sentence inversion. Other tones
can be derived from the message conveyed at each point in the extract. For instance, horrified tone
is found in instances when the Hrothgar and his people reflect on the attacks from the Grendel. The
approach Hrothgar employs to mitigate Grendel s attacks is not at all aggressive which expresses a
pessimistic tone, and further excites pity from the reader, which conveys a pitiful tone ( Literary
Techniques Part 1 ).
The attention in the poem is focused on the attacks of the Grendel and the consequent reaction of
Hrothgar and his people which reveal predatory mood and melancholy mood respectively. Even
after accomplishing a series of attacks on Hrothgar and his people, Grendel seems dissatisfied and
wishes to attack them even more. At the same time, Hrothgar and his people have no power to
retaliate and no option to retreat. The author shows that after the initial attack, the people
contemplate the return

Test Incentives For Organ Donations
No one wants to voluntarily sign up for an unnecessary surgery, which is why there is a five to
ten year wait limit for an organ donation. The New York Times Article Test Incentives for Organ
Donations There s No Reason Not To, written by Sally Satel, states that in order to raise the number
of donations, people should be rewarded (Satel). Based on the statistics Satel provides, she says
altruism is not producing enough donations. Instead, she believes the government should offer
some form of incentiveto lure people into doing a good deed (Satel). Satel s article does develop
solid points to teach readers about her topic effectively while simultaneously providing evidence to

She productively argues that not enough deceased donations will be enough to satisfy the wait
limit (Satel). Satel s purpose here is to let her readers know that patients in need of a transplant
do not have all the time in the world to wait for someone to save their life. She wants people to
understand that waiting until death to donate organs kills others in the process of time. Not
enough people die a day that actually qualify as organ donors to help the 100,000 people on the
wait list (Satel). Satel uses this information as evidence as to why we need incentives for people to
donate their organs; there is simply not enough willing participants that want to save another person
s life. Satel s purpose was to inform readers of the crucial need of organ donors, which she
believes can be solved by incentives (Satel). She managed this argument effectively by connecting
the problem to someone s reality while addressing the issue with practical evidence. Since her
purpose was executed flawlessly, so was her evidence. Every new issue that was brought up had
supporting information that validated it. She admitted that many people would assume incentives
for organ donations would just act as another way for the rich to feed off the poor. To counter that,
she says, the demographics of the waiting list indicate that recipients, themselves, are likely to be
low income (Satel). Her next piece of evidence states that young people would also be interested

Historians And Their Discourse Community
Historians do research and analyze on past events, old documents, videos and pictures. The
information they get from these sources develops their discourse communities. Each major has its
own discourse communities. A discourse community is a group of people who share common
goals and communicate together in order to achieve goals the group has set for themselves.
Historians conduct research and analysis for businesses, newspapers, governments, and historical

Rita s past life as a married hairdresser and the world of literature Rita dreams to enter. The
beginning stages of Rita s transitioning does not initially go well for her as the middle working
class she belongs to ties her down and the fact that Rita does not have the knowledge to be able
to overcome the differences of her world and the intellectual world. During the initial stages of
Rita s transitioning, obstacles stopped her from moving forward to her goal. Near the end of
Russell s play, Rita claims to have transitioned successfully from the middle class to the educated
class. Rita states to Professor Frank, I m not an idiot now, Frank... I can do things for me own
now... And I am careful. I know what I m doin ... I know the difference between Somerset
Maugham an Harold Robbins... . Rita s amplification of what she knows and the tone of her
understandings shows us that she has come a long way from being able to distinguish the
difference of popular poetry with literature . Her reference to a popular poet and their texts that
she used to previously considered perverted emphasizes the extent of what she can understand .

Culture And Subcultures Of Fashion
If you look online, there are millions of pictures of Harajuku style. Guys and girls dressing up
androgynously, or wearing the most bizzare pieces of clothing ranging from sky high platforms to
mixing unlikely prints together. Some even wear their hair and makeup in the most avant garde
way. Japan for a while has been displaying fashionthat intrigues us and influences us in many ways
and what people don t know is that of these fashions there are different communities and
subcultures of fashion that these people in the pictures conform to. Japan has a vast array of street
fashion styles and trends. They are all mixed with elements of traditional, foreign and/or local
styles. Their street fashion cultures vary from the tan skinned Ganguro girls to the victorian styled
Lolitas. One of the most popular and biggest Japanese fashioninfluencers were the high schoolgirls
of Kogyaru. What exactly did these schoolgirls do to become one of the biggest trendsetters of
Japan? The answers are within their signature style, Japan s popular magazines, and ability to
popularize certain products.
Kogyaru style was started by and became very popular among high school girls. That s what the
name literally means: ko means little but it could also stand for high school and gyaru means girl.
To achieve their style you must have a high school outfit with the pleated skirts hitched up to
alarming heights according to Richard Lloyd Parry from the Independent (Parry, par.2). Their school

Egyptian Civilization And Greek Civilization
The early human lived life by hunting, fishing and collecting wild plant, and their life was not
organized. About 5000 years ago, a complex and organized way of life began in some part of the
world. People live together in town, cities and others centers and started farming, industries, and
also started writing, painting and other method of living. Later, there were specialize occupations
emerged, complex religions took form and social diversion increased, and these changes lead to the
birth of civilizations. There were many ancient civilizations in the world like, India civilization,
Chinese civilization, Middle East civilization, Mesopotamian civilization, Egyptian civilization,
Greek civilization, Roman civilization and others which greatly contributed to the development of
the world history. Each civilization had their own way to follow culture, religions, public life,
economic life, and others. Therefore, in this paper, I will describe how Indian civilization,
Egyptian civilization and Greek Civilization made impacts in the way that we see today s world
and how these civilizations affected people s life.
Indian civilization was one of the first civilization in world history. Indian civilization is staged in
two steps: About 2600 BCE is known as Indus Civilization and about 1500 BCE is known as Vedic
civilizations. Indus Civilization was peaceful civilization compared to other civilizations. All

Disadvantages Of Internet Addiction
Why did internet addiction ratio increase in last five years? There are a lot of answers of these
questions. Nowadays internet greatly affects our lives because internet is common in Turkey and
everybody can easily access internet. Internet addiction generally means spending time on internet.
(Simkova Cincera, 2004; Leung, 2004; Yellowlees Marks, 2007) In diagnosing internetaddiction;
tests, scales, criteria, control list and likewise instruments and techniques can be used .But there are
common reasons to be dependent on internet. So there are some disadvantages of internet addiction.

virtual friends. Computer games, gambling, chat causes internet addiction. In fact, virtual
environment doesn t make them happy. Because when they don t have internet, they are lonely and
depressed. This means internet addiction. There are solutions that. If people have inadequate
control mechanism, this is most important reason for internet addiction. People should plan their
times to use internet. This time should be short. And if people have important works in internet,
they should use it. For example computer games, chat, film, music are not mandatory necessities for

Japanese Education Vs America
In America, education is very different in learning, teaching, and dedication compared to other
countries. In Japan, education is shorter, harder, and very different than America. Japan is very
dedicated to education and are honored for it. Education is one of the most important things to the
people of Japan. By examining Japanese education, it shows how Japan is able to teach and learn
history, environmental, transportation, religion, teaching, and mostly math. Japanese history is
most interesting in my opinion. Japan was first discovered in the 1st century B.C.(Watanabe, Akira

compared to America. Elementary schools learn how to multiply with lines. Also, they learn

that students in Japan only go to school for 9 years. In America, we go to school for 12. They

Japanese do that during elementary, junior high, and high school. They have to be dedicated and

seems hard but it would be worth it in the end. By researching Japanese education I was able to

Analysis Of Killings By Andre Dubus
Families are one of the most important things in life. We have parents, kids, crazy uncles, and
weird cousins, but that doesn t change how it would feel to lose one of them. In the short story
Killings, Richard Strout kills Frank Fowler and then suddenly disappears. Matt Fowler, Frank s
father, is suspected of murdering Richard and hiding all the evidence. After losing his son, Matt
and his family grieved over the loss of their loved one wanted to see Richard Strout where he
belonged, or at least out of sight. Although the story doesn t reveal what happens to Matt Fowler
after Richard Strout is dead, all the evidence, Matt s PGD, his thirst for revenge, and how he
believes the system has failed him when Richard was able to walk free, makes him guilty of killing
Richard Strout.
In Killings, Andre Dubus writes about the events just leading up to Richard Strout s
disappearance. Matt Fowler was happily married and had three children. One of his sons, Frank
Fowler, entered into a relationship with a woman named Mary Ann Strout, who was in the
process of getting a divorced with Richard Strout. Once Richard found out about his wife and
Frank, he killed Frank out of anger. He was then arrested and then got on bail. Matt Fowler and
the rest of his family were not too pleased to see their loved one s murderer was walking free.
Matt was getting drinks at his friends, Willis, restaurant one night and found out where Strout
works. So they sat outside his work and waited for him to come

War Is An Invention Of Man Caused By The Aggression Instinct
Margaret Mead has concluded that a redundant amount of people have accepted inventions as
attributes of humanity itself. In this case Mead stands against crowds who believe war is a
biological necessity or a sociological inevitability, and argues that war is an invention of man
caused by the aggression instinct. Warbecomes such a habit of man that different types of war
spawn, because society resorts to war regularly. Mead believes war is inevitable, unless war is
destroyed by a better invention built through humanity itself. To accept Margaret Meads argument
that war is in fact an invention, we must understand one of the opposing arguments that war is a
biological necessity. Mead states that Those who argue the first view (biological... Show more

She even mentions that if the Lepchas were raided they would not even go to war, due to the
fact that they don t even understand defensive warfare. The main point accomplished through
these two cultures is that both do not understand the invention of war. Proving that war is not an
instinct present in the human nature of man. Those who accept that war as a sociological
inevitability, believe that warfare is a creature that was caused by the development of state.
They accept that the struggle for land and resources will never end, and believe that the history
of war will repeat itself. Although the same people who assume that war is a sociological
inevitability believe that war is not in the nature of man, they say that war is eternally
unavoidable unless we transform our social system, outlaw classes, and possessions. If and only
if these transformations were complete, then the plague of warfare would be cured in the eyes
of sociological inevitability.Margret Mead defines warfares as a recognized conflict between
two groups as groups, in which each group puts together an army into the field to fight and kill,
if possible, some of the members of the army of the other group. Mead uses the Pygmy people
from the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal as an example. The Pygmies would line up 15
soldiers in the field and would fight, however even then Mead declares that is warfare. The
Pygmies were a simple people that were hunter and gatherers, but even

How Does Creon Obey The Gods In Antigone
In Antigone, Sophocles demonstrates that one should obey the gods above the state. Using
characterization, Sophocles compares the loyalties of Antigone and Creon, providing the gods with
the chorus support to show the views of objective observers and emphasize the proper devotion.
Antigone, the headstrong heroine, proves that honoring the gods results in a more favorable
fate. Right from the start, Antigone makes her opinions clear: the gods wishes are more important
than mortal laws. When speaking to Creon, she admits to transgressing his laws saying, Yes, for it
was not Zeus who had published that edict; not such are the laws set among men by the Justice
who dwells with the gods below (102). Antigone is portrayed as a martyr due to ... Show more

These pathos filled words remind the audience that Antigone is just a young girl who was
trying to help her dead brother be redeemed by the gods. Her pathetic martyrdom automatically
puts her in the right in the reader s eye. Who would face emotional torment and execution for
something she doesn t feel is absolutely necessary?
Creon, the new ruler of Thebes, exemplifies the consequences of allegiance to the state,
ultimately falling from grace. Aristotle s Poetics define Creon as a tragic hero: Firstly, he is high
born. He has too much pride, and Zeus utterly abhors the boasts of a proud tongue (95). And of
course Creon s hamartia is his dedication to the state: whomsoever the city may appoint, that man
must be obeyed, in little things and great, in just things and unjust (107). Teiresias verifies
Antigone s actions and discredits Creon s by offering a prophetic glimpse of the view of the gods:
you have thrust [...] a living soul in the grave but keep in this world one who belongs to the gods
infernal, a corpse unburied, unhonored, all unhallowed. In such you have no part, nor have

The Characters Being Dead In The Song Of Solomon
Song of Solomon Questions 1. The characters being dead in the text can be related to their race
and/or their gender. Milkman can be seen as dead because he has no purpose in life; he doesn t
seem to know what being black means like the other characters in the text do, and he doesn t
realize how him being a man affects the females in the text. Most of the women are dead
because they are left behind or controlled by the men in the story. They do not take their lives for
their own, so they do not have one; they can be considered dead. However, Pilate could break
this trend because unlike the other females she takes her life for herself and controls it. Later on
in the story, Guitar can be seen as dead even though it s not apart of his name. He lets his life be
controlled by anger and hunger. Despite him justifying his actions with the Seven Days as
justice, he does this based on anger and cannot answer Milkman s questions on the ethical view
of it. He also seeks to take the life of Milkman when he suspects he s run off with the gold. 2. The
song in the novel gives insight on the background knowledge that Milkman is looking for about
his family. The events that the song describes can also be applied to Milkman and the people
around him. Those who know the Song of Solomon do not question Solomon flying off and
leaving behind everyone. They are also quick to put Ryna in a bad light, naming her after a ditch

examination of their iris is given to identify any reaction. The eye can also show emotion that
the examiner is looking for since eyes are widely referred to as the windows to the soul. Another
theme that jumps out with the symbolism of eyes is how the replicants have a light up glow in

Rd = 8,265% + 1,3% = 9,565% We assume that the fixed debt in the Lodging division would have
a longer duration than that in the Restaurants division, hence we used 30 year Gov. bond rate for
fixed debt in Lodging division and 10 year Gov. rate for fixed debt in Restaurants division. For
the floating debt, we considered the 1 year Gov. rate applying to both Lodging and restaurants
divisions. Furthermore, after taking the average of both floating and fixed debt rates for both
divisions respectively we added the premium above Gov. Rate to the result and arrived at the

Lodging division we ll consider the 30 year Gov. rate of 8.95% as the risk free rate. This approach
would quantify the effect of duration differences between the investments in each division. We ll

Literature Review On Teamwork
Literature Review
Teamwork is generally considered as the willingness of a group of people to work together to
achieve a common aim. Teams play a major role in our lives. Working in groups is probably an
inevitable life experience. Teams are everywhere: in educational places, workplaces, and
neighborhood. This review will focus on three themes which emerge repeatedly throughout the
literature reviewed. These themes are: student s benefits from learning in groups, the importance of
teamwork skills in work and school, and teamwork as a key to success for teachers and
paraeducators.
Teamwork has a big amount of advantages which can be got by every member of the team. The
article Student s benefits from learning in groups (n.d.) illustrates the positive sides of group
working and things that should be done in order to achieve benefits. Harvard publishes a guide to
working in teams, with information significant to both tutors and students. Methods are the
following: organizing the work and managing team activities; including everyone and their ideas;
leading the group and focusing on a direction. As Hartley and Robson assert (1999, as cited ... Show

completing tasks but can also open your eyes to new ideas and widen your outlook. As Wagner
(2015) asserts, students preparing for future careers will find that skills obtained in college can
support cooperation attributes that are very much required at places of employment; they also
gain experience and learn how to advise. Moreover, the writer claims that knowledge and
technical skills are not enough, not being willing to collaborate can be a red flag for an employer.
Consequently, there is no school or workplace without teamwork because it leads to benefit and

The Japanese American Citizens League
The Japanese American Citizens League, also known by the acronym JACL, is a Nisei organization

promoting the integration of citizens into American culture. Since its inception the JACL has
expanded its mandate to focus on lobbying for the Civil Rights of all Asian American citizens and

of the most influential national organizations promoting social justice and equality throughout the

government policies and praised for its opposition of legislative discrimination. In particular the
organization has been criticized for its complacency during World War Two (1939 1945) with the
federal government s discriminatory internment of Japanese American citizens. The origins of the

Therefore, the changing characteristics and the growth of the Texas population are the major causes
of the transportation problem (Gravel, 2016).
While it was not a major issue in the just concluded campaigns, the future of Texas infrastructure
did receive attention in the two major Texas political parties (Republican and Democratic).
However, the political parties reveal differing positions and philosophies on ways of tackling the
issue. To be specific, the Democrats believe that infrastructure is important to the future economic
prosperity (LePatner, 2010). Further, the party argues that broadband networks, schools, water
systems, and energy are some of the infrastructures that are readily ripe for investment. As such, the
party hopes that investments in such fields may help address other related issues such as
unemployment too. Sadly, the Democratic Party does not mention how additional funding would
be injected in infrastructure. Instead, the members weigh in on some tools that may be vital in

Hunger, Malnutrition, And Famine
According to recent statistics from the United Nations World Food Program, 795 million people
across the globe, suffer from the effects of being undernourished ( Food Program, 2015, para. 1).
Both hunger and malnutrition serve to be the number one risk to health and well being, more so
than Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria combined ( FoodProgram, 2015, para. 1). Although the planet
produces enough food to feed everyone (Wright Boorse, 2014), hunger, malnutrition, and famine

Describing Phantom Limb Experience Essay
Describing Phantom Limb Experience
Of people who have had body parts amputated, about 80 percent experience some sort of phantom
limb sensation. This experience, which can range from severe shooting pain to merely feeling the
presence of the absent limb, most often occurs in amputees but sometimes manifests itself in
individuals whose limbs have been missing since birth. The sensations patients experience are not
necessarily of the same strength, location, or duration from occurrence to occurrence, and the
frequency of episodes often fluctuates over time. Especially in the case of amputees, who have
lived a significant portion of their lives with the limb in question, it would make sense that there be
a psychological element to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This wiring between the cerebral cortex and the rest of the body has been the focus of research on
phantom limb pain. From this research, several theories have emerged.
Merzenich and Kaas amputated monkeys fingers and expected to find no nervous response in the
part of the homunculus whose bodily analog no longer existed. Instead, this region of the cerebral
cortex fired when the fingers next to the amputation site were stimulated. Their conclusion was that
preexisting axon branches that had innervated the region were unmasked, which allows for
nervous response without any new neuronal growth. This idea upheld Hubel and Wiesel s concept
of the hardwired brain, in which the cerebral cortex s map is set at birth. Ramachandran also had a
similar idea of hidden circuitry, arguing that phantom limb sensation could not be the result of new
neuronal growth as the sensation s onset was often as soon as a month or two after amputation,
which be enough time for the brain to remap but not for new cells to develop.
Pons research, however, came to conclusions that challenged this hardwired model. His work with
monkeys indicated cortical remapping significant enough that sensation for an entire amputated
arm could be caused by stimulation of the face; this part of the cortex had taken over responding for
the nonexistent arm. Such change in the nervous system would have to incorporate new neuronal
growth.

Helena, they are not divided by the enmity of their families, but by Demetrius rejection of Helena.
Nevertheless, a similarity can be drawn, just like Pyramus and Thisby are divided by a physical
wall, Demetrius and Helena are separated by an insurmountable wall of misunderstanding. Despite
this parallelism, Pyramus and Thisby are ridiculous, unlike Hermia and Lysander or Helena and
Demetrius. Their solemnity parodies the lovers earnestness, and, Quince s poetry sounds tasteless
and clichГ©, rather than passionate and genuine. Quince s play is a tragedy that misses sad end
and high feelings, however, by showing death for love, Pyramus and Thisby enlightens the possible
tragedy hidden in

The Peasants Revolt The Movie Essay
The Protestant Reformation was a religious movement to reform Catholicism leading to the
creation of Protestantism. Many movies try to portray the religious movement, but one stands out
from the others. The film Luther did not accurately portray the social and political aspects of the
Protestant Reformation. The film does not give enough detail to historically represent the German
peasants and nobility; it also dramatizes political characters and events to specifically target Luther
s enemies, giving inaccurate information in the process.
The film lacks the detail to historically portray the social aspects successfully because the plot orbits
around Martin Luther; it omits different aspects of the Peasants Revolt, specifically the relationship
between the German peasants and nobility. Throughout the film, Eric Till the director eliminates
most of the interaction between the German peasants and nobility allowing the film to revolve
around Luther. The Peasants Revolt erupted due to German nobles placing unrealistic taxes on
peasants, but the movie prioritized another cause: The whole world s been turned upside down by
that madman Luther (Luther 2003). Peasants from Wittenberg claimed that Luther s ideas lived on
after his kidnapping and inspired peasants to separate themselves from the Catholic Church. Till
disregards the importance of taxation and gives the viewers inaccurate information: Heading

Huckleberry Finn Father Figure Essay
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain creates three overall father figures for the
main character Huck. Each one of the father figures offers a lesson different from the others by
the way each treats him and by what they offer Huck throughout the story. The three father figures
are Judge Thatcher, Pap Finn, and Jim the run away slave. Twain also creates these father figures
in a way that is relatable and relevant to modern day father figures or parents. Judge Thatcher is
the first father figure I am going to talk about. The Judge is almost like Huck s moral compass
throughout the beginning of the book. He takes the money that Tom and Huck find at the end of

Huck does not look up to his father in any sense because he is constantly drunk and beating him.
As a matter of fact Huck says, I used to be scared of him all the time, he tanned me so much (26)
but as he got older and did not see his dad as much he learned not to be afraid. Pap was never
really around and everyone in town knows that. When Pap finally returns, he learns that Huck
ahs been attending school and has learned how to read and write. You think you re better n your
father, now, don t you, because he can t, (27) is his reaction when he figures this out. He thinks
that it is wrong for his son to be more educated than him so he says, I ll lay for you, my smarty;
and if I catch you about that school I ll tan you good (28) Pap saying that he will tan Huck, gives
the reader more background into how much he beats Huck for no reason at all. When I think
about Pap and his actions, I think of Elizabeth Smart s kidnapper because Pap also kidnapped
Huck and locked him inside a cabin for days. Elizabeth Smart s kidnapper, Brian Mitchell, did
worse to her than Pap did to Huck but they somehow remind me of each other because both Pap
and Mitchell kidnapped, beat, and hid their victims from

The Consequences Of The Nature In Jack London sTo Build A...
[1] As depicted in Jack London s To Build a Fire, the Yukon proves to be a truly formidable
wasteland. The barren environment is comprised solely of unbroken white (London 65), the sun
refuses to shine, and, most saliently, the temperature measures 107 degrees below freezing. These
factors render the Yukona harsh place through which to travel, especially as a lone voyager like
the man, the story s central character. Survival, however, is possible, and the man s success in this
wilderness hinges critically upon his ability to know more than just the facts of the Yukon. The
man must imagine the consequences of his actions. [2] London wastes no time informing the
reader that the man s greatest weakness is, in fact, his inability to imagine. In the work s opening
paragraphs, we learn of the Yukon s gray (London 64) austerity, indescribable darkness (London
64), and great cold(London 65). Yet, what follows in a stark juxtaposition is that these conditions
had no effect on the man and that the trouble with him was that he was not able to imagine (London
65). Through this opening, London establishes a framework by which the Yukon will test the man s
ability to imagine the implications his surroundings and actions entail. In To Build a Fire, the dog
an embodiment of the Yukon environment itself serves to illuminate how the man is quick and
ready in the things of life (London 65), but fails to imagine the consequences of his actions. As
evidenced by the

Moderation Lab
Introduction
The problem with moderation is that only people in the films have perfect white teeth and people
keep paying millions with mouth or teeth surgeries to receive that irresistible smile. Unknowing of
what might give you that impeccable million dollar smile is frequently thought to be something
surgery could only do up, however this feat can be accomplished by brushing your teeth after every
meal also using mouthwash before and after you wake up. This experiment was created in order
to test the truth of what would happen if you where to eat or drink staining foods that could cause
problems for your smile (2). Finding the most universal drinks used today was seneschal to others
and what they would drink because people should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data also reviled that when teeth are placed in coffee they eat away teeth till bacteria and other
substances start to grow on the teeth (appendix 6). Lemon juice acted as suspected and eroded
the teeth to the point where all the old enamel was eroded away to a white layer with gum
showing through parts of the crown (bag 2), water was used as saliva for a control there was
little or no erosion on the teeth but they did yellow (bag 3). All the teeth saw a significant
increase of erosion when they were placed in the liquids for the first day (appendix 9). The teeth
all changed color from the teeth before they were placed inside the cups. All the teeth changed size
a little except the water witch only where given a one gram change over

Analysis Of Video Game Consoles And The Two Companies
1) What are your group s chosen IT market sector and TWO competing public companies that your
group will base its ITMSA research? Why did you choose these two public companies? Please
explain.
My groups chosen IT market sector is video game consoles and the two companies we have chosen
are Microsoft and Sony. We chose these two public companies because they are the largest ones
when it comes to the creation of video games and video game consoles. Microsoft represents the
Xbox series which is one of the largest game consoles in the world while Sony represents
PlayStation which is also one of the largest game consoles in the world. We picked these
companies because I knew we would be able to find a lot of information on them and they are
heavy competitors with each other.
2) What are 3 key findings (facts, information) from your IT Market Sector research (not company
research) you found using the IBISWorld business database that correspond to one or more of the
topics in Section 2: Market Sector Analysis in your Google Doc? Cite your sources following APA.
The first key finding I had on IBISWorld was the fact that annual growth in the video game market
has grown by 4.0% (IBISWorld, 1). I also found that the video game publishing software employs
over 103,000 individuals (IBISWorld, Software Publishing). The last key finding I had was that the
social network game department has advanced heavily since its introduction to the systems
(IBISWorld, Social Network).

  • 2. Analysis Of Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading... Artemisia Gentileschi s Judith Beheading Holofernes Although now praised for her work as an incredibly accomplished, feminist artist, Artemisia Gentileschi s works were nearly expunged from history by those who believed her incapable of such skill. As a female painter in the 17th century she faced innumerable challenges in pursuing work as an artist, including, but not limited to; her exclusion from apprenticeship in the arts, the damage sustained to her reputation after a lengthy rape trial in which she was tortured to prove her credibility and subsequent defamation after the trial. After her death critics claimed her work as her father s or husband s, not until recently did she begin to see the credit she deserved (Poggioli, 2016). One of her most famous ... These works both demonstrate her use of dramatic chiaroscuro, most likely as a result of the influence of Caravaggio in her training, and her vivid use of color, as well as her ability to capture a moment in time on canvas (Art History Archive). In Judith Slaying Holofernes (V. II.) circa 1620, Gentileschi depicts the climactic moment of the biblical story in which Judith, with the help of her maidservant, decapitates Holofernes. While a popular subject to be painted at the time, Gentileschi s depiction is unique in the way that she ...creates a far more violent and graphic scene, dramatizing the intense physical effort required on the part of Judith and her maid to kill their enemy... (Visual Arts Cork). In fact, Cosimo de Medici, for whom this work was commissioned for, kept the work hidden from public view on account of how graphic it was (Conliffe, 2016). Her portrayal differs greatly from the way many painters at the time painted this story, specifically in the way that both Judith and her maidservant are much more physically and purposefully involved in this act of violence. There are less similarities in these two styles of art, so it ll be easier to talk about them first. The first thing these two styles have in common are that they both used were funeral buildings. Islam had a mosque, which was also a place of worship while China also had mosque, but their mosque came a bit later in history. • 10. Reflection In The Language Of The Grendel The tone that is contained in the extract to great extent is a candid tone. The use of inverted sentence brands the candid tone to the stanzas in which they are found. For instance, to rest had gone communicates the original meaning as when the inverted sentence may not be in use. However, the inversion makes the stanza sound more poetic or lyrical. Another tone present in the inverted sentences is conversational tone (Lombardi). However, the conversational tone is made to sound more formal and as mentioned earlier, poetic, from the use of sentence inversion. Other tones can be derived from the message conveyed at each point in the extract. For instance, horrified tone is found in instances when the Hrothgar and his people reflect on the attacks from the Grendel. The approach Hrothgar employs to mitigate Grendel s attacks is not at all aggressive which expresses a pessimistic tone, and further excites pity from the reader, which conveys a pitiful tone ( Literary Techniques Part 1 ). Satel s purpose here is to let her readers know that patients in need of a transplant do not have all the time in the world to wait for someone to save their life. She wants people to understand that waiting until death to donate organs kills others in the process of time. Not enough people die a day that actually qualify as organ donors to help the 100,000 people on the wait list (Satel). Satel uses this information as evidence as to why we need incentives for people to donate their organs; there is simply not enough willing participants that want to save another person s life. Satel s purpose was to inform readers of the crucial need of organ donors, which she believes can be solved by incentives (Satel). She managed this argument effectively by connecting the problem to someone s reality while addressing the issue with practical evidence. Since her purpose was executed flawlessly, so was her evidence. Every new issue that was brought up had supporting information that validated it. She admitted that many people would assume incentives for organ donations would just act as another way for the rich to feed off the poor. We have parents, kids, crazy uncles, and weird cousins, but that doesn t change how it would feel to lose one of them. In the short story Killings, Richard Strout kills Frank Fowler and then suddenly disappears. Matt Fowler, Frank s father, is suspected of murdering Richard and hiding all the evidence. After losing his son, Matt and his family grieved over the loss of their loved one wanted to see Richard Strout where he belonged, or at least out of sight. Although the story doesn t reveal what happens to Matt Fowler after Richard Strout is dead, all the evidence, Matt s PGD, his thirst for revenge, and how he believes the system has failed him when Richard was able to walk free, makes him guilty of killing Richard Strout. In Killings, Andre Dubus writes about the events just leading up to Richard Strout s disappearance. Matt Fowler was happily married and had three children. One of his sons, Frank Fowler, entered into a relationship with a woman named Mary Ann Strout, who was in the process of getting a divorced with Richard Strout. Once Richard found out about his wife and Frank, he killed Frank out of anger. He was then arrested and then got on bail. In this case Mead stands against crowds who believe war is a biological necessity or a sociological inevitability, and argues that war is an invention of man caused by the aggression instinct. Warbecomes such a habit of man that different types of war spawn, because society resorts to war regularly. Mead believes war is inevitable, unless war is destroyed by a better invention built through humanity itself. To accept Margaret Meads argument that war is in fact an invention, we must understand one of the opposing arguments that war is a biological necessity. The main point accomplished through these two cultures is that both do not understand the invention of war. Proving that war is not an instinct present in the human nature of man. Those who accept that war as a sociological inevitability, believe that warfare is a creature that was caused by the development of state. They accept that the struggle for land and resources will never end, and believe that the history of war will repeat itself. Although the same people who assume that war is a sociological inevitability believe that war is not in the nature of man, they say that war is eternally unavoidable unless we transform our social system, outlaw classes, and possessions. If and only if these transformations were complete, then the plague of warfare would be cured in the eyes of sociological inevitability.Margret Mead defines warfares as a recognized conflict between two groups as groups, in which each group puts together an army into the field to fight and kill, if possible, some of the members of the army of the other group. Mead uses the Pygmy people from the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal as an example. Using characterization, Sophocles compares the loyalties of Antigone and Creon, providing the gods with the chorus support to show the views of objective observers and emphasize the proper devotion. Antigone, the headstrong heroine, proves that honoring the gods results in a more favorable fate. Right from the start, Antigone makes her opinions clear: the gods wishes are more important than mortal laws. Creon, the new ruler of Thebes, exemplifies the consequences of allegiance to the state, ultimately falling from grace. Aristotle s Poetics define Creon as a tragic hero: Firstly, he is high born. He has too much pride, and Zeus utterly abhors the boasts of a proud tongue (95). And of course Creon s hamartia is his dedication to the state: whomsoever the city may appoint, that man must be obeyed, in little things and great, in just things and unjust (107). Milkman can be seen as dead because he has no purpose in life; he doesn t seem to know what being black means like the other characters in the text do, and he doesn t realize how him being a man affects the females in the text. Most of the women are dead because they are left behind or controlled by the men in the story. They do not take their lives for their own, so they do not have one; they can be considered dead. However, Pilate could break this trend because unlike the other females she takes her life for herself and controls it. Later on in the story, Guitar can be seen as dead even though it s not apart of his name. He lets his life be controlled by anger and hunger. Despite him justifying his actions with the Seven Days as justice, he does this based on anger and cannot answer Milkman s questions on the ethical view of it. He also seeks to take the life of Milkman when he suspects he s run off with the gold. 2. The song in the novel gives insight on the background knowledge that Milkman is looking for about his family. The events that the song describes can also be applied to Milkman and the people around him. Those who know the Song of Solomon do not question Solomon flying off and leaving behind everyone. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This wiring between the cerebral cortex and the rest of the body has been the focus of research on phantom limb pain. From this research, several theories have emerged. Merzenich and Kaas amputated monkeys fingers and expected to find no nervous response in the part of the homunculus whose bodily analog no longer existed. Instead, this region of the cerebral cortex fired when the fingers next to the amputation site were stimulated. Their conclusion was that preexisting axon branches that had innervated the region were unmasked, which allows for nervous response without any new neuronal growth. This idea upheld Hubel and Wiesel s concept of the hardwired brain, in which the cerebral cortex s map is set at birth. Ramachandran also had a similar idea of hidden circuitry, arguing that phantom limb sensation could not be the result of new neuronal growth as the sensation s onset was often as soon as a month or two after amputation, which be enough time for the brain to remap but not for new cells to develop. Pons research, however, came to conclusions that challenged this hardwired model. His work with monkeys indicated cortical remapping significant enough that sensation for an entire amputated arm could be caused by stimulation of the face; this part of the cortex had taken over responding for the nonexistent arm. Such change in the nervous system would have to incorporate new neuronal growth. Case studies described on Macalester s web site seem to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many movies try to portray the religious movement, but one stands out from the others. The film Luther did not accurately portray the social and political aspects of the Protestant Reformation. The film does not give enough detail to historically represent the German peasants and nobility; it also dramatizes political characters and events to specifically target Luther s enemies, giving inaccurate information in the process. The film lacks the detail to historically portray the social aspects successfully because the plot orbits around Martin Luther; it omits different aspects of the Peasants Revolt, specifically the relationship between the German peasants and nobility. The barren environment is comprised solely of unbroken white (London 65), the sun refuses to shine, and, most saliently, the temperature measures 107 degrees below freezing. These factors render the Yukona harsh place through which to travel, especially as a lone voyager like the man, the story s central character. Survival, however, is possible, and the man s success in this wilderness hinges critically upon his ability to know more than just the facts of the Yukon. The man must imagine the consequences of his actions. [2] London wastes no time informing the reader that the man s greatest weakness is, in fact, his inability to imagine.
