Chapter 6:
LM Potencies:
Lm potencies are known as a fast, gentle and long lasting cure. Homeopaths use lm potencies to
treat hypersensitive patients mainly because they are more gentle. Lm potencies speed up the
cure of patients as well as lessen the aggravations. Hahnemann felt that centicimal potencies
caused too much of an aggravation which lead to a patient suffering. Lm potencies are made by
diluting a remedy in a ratio of 1 to 50000 at each step, while still succussing at 100. Due to the fast
that the succussions are low, the aggravations will be low and because it is diluted so many times it
increases the strength of the remedy. Lm potencies penetrate at a deep mental and emotional level.

Some say it s the remedy that matches the patients totality of symptoms for a chronic condition with
emphasis on their personality and temperament. Others say that it s the remedy that matches the
patients individual type and it is a life long remedy and no matter what condition a person gets, this
remedy will cure the acute condition. Some say that the innate constitution is what the person is
made of on a mental, emotional, and physical level, but it is not necessarily the remedy that will
cure the persons current condition.
Each constitution is associated with certain remedies. Each constitution has a typical chronic
remedy, however a strong traumatic incident can impose a layer on a patient of any constitution.
Constitutional types have both a light and a dark side depending on life events and circumstances.
Homeopathy helps to restore children to health, to overcome their weekness and to get them
ready for a healthy ife. People who have taken homeopathic remedies from childhood have fewer
chronic diseases later on in their lives. The greatest protection is when all of the layers are
removed and a proper constitutional remedy is given. Children have less layers than

Proposal Dear Dr. Salvo: The enclosed recommendation report compares green roofs and white
roofs, which I informed you of in my previous letter. The information in this report includes the cost
analysis, which examines the installation, maintenance, and replacements costs of each roof type.
In addition, the report examines the environmental impact in offsetting greenhouse gases. In the
world of construction, a white roof is a structure covering made with a top layer of highly reflective
white colored paint. A waterproof barrier and an insulation board follow the top layer. If you have

Madam Cj Walker, By Sarah Breedlove
On December 23, 1897, Sarah Breedlove who is now known as Madam CJ Walker, was born on
a delta on a Louisiana Plantation where her parents, Owen and Minerva Anderson Breedlove
worked and were enslaved prior to the civil war. Although she was the first child of her siblings
to be born after the abolition of slavery, she faced just as many hard times. Walker was however
able to renovate herself from an illiterate laundress and farm girl to a highly successful business

that saw value in neither. Walker led a movement of great proportion to answer that inequality in

The Twentieth Century
The twentieth century was filled with events that changed that path of our history forever.
Throughout the years, many religions were founded, radical groups, reforms happened, people s
actions went down in history, and there were many changes to the way that our nation is ran,
including foreign policy, leaders, and laws. Nationalism was one of the biggest influences on the
twentieth century because of the roles that it played in making the United States the way that it is
today. Race was also a factor in how changes were made to our laws, the events that transpired
throughout those 100 years, and the way that people were treated. Race has been an issue
throughout our nation s history that we cannot deny and is still an issue in today s society. The
book Superfluous Men is a book filled with many critiques of how the American society was ran
and the events that were happening during that time. They made many points throughout this book
that could be correctly stated about our history. Twentieth century America was a time that can be
said to be one of the most influential centuries in our country s past. Nationalism is a part of our
country s past. We have seen many aspects of our history changed because the act of nationalism.
Nationalism is when a country or group of people who are wanting to gain independence and it

Over Many Years, Lois Lowry S Novels Have Been Analyzed
Over many years, Lois Lowry s novels have been analyzed by many. Lowry is known for
grasping measures of social control and taking them a step further. While some, such as Lucas
Kavner (2012) and Carter F. Hanson (2009) declare their acclamation for her out of the box writing
technique, scholars and Utopian studies, such as Lyman Tower Sargent (1988), Tom Moylan
(2014), and Fredric Jameson (1998), place emphasis on the contradiction that dystopia has on
nature.
One could only dream of a world without discrimination. In a world with no differences shown
hatred, crime, and civil disputes would be something unheard of. Popular, fame, winner and loser

Intelligence , Integrity , Courage , Wisdom , and the Capacity to See Beyond. (Lowry, 1993, p. 62

The Receiver of Memory is the one person in the community who stores all the past memories of
the time before Sameness. The position of Receiver of Memory is important because there may
be times where one must use the wisdom gained from history to aid the community s decision
making; guidance in the present using memories in the past. (Noyce, Koenigsberg, Silver, 2014).
The figurative community Lowry writes of lacks any color, memory, climate, or understanding of
their territory, all in an effort to uphold structural order and a true sense of equality beyond
personal individuality. Our people made that choice, the choice to go to Sameness. Before my
time, before the previous time, back and back and back. We relinquished color when we
relinquished sunshine and did away with differences. He thought for a moment. We gained control
of many things. But we had to let go of others. (Lowry, 1993, p. 95)
Though some scholars do not agree with the writing techniques of Lois Lowry, I argue that Lowry is
an amazing and independent writer. I find Lowry s writing to be very fascinating and somewhat
truthful in the real world even though these are fiction novels. While Lowry writes of these
innovative places, she uses symbolism which connects the character s world to our own world.

William Bradford And Dekanawida In The Iroquois Constitution
William Bradford and Dekanawida were similar in many ways. Both were leaders in history, and
used their skills to unite people. Bradford helped organize and govern the Plymouth Colony.
Dekanawida organized and united five tribes through the Iroquois Constitution. Although they
belonged to do very different cultures and societies, they had many similarities. Bradford and
Dekanawida shared a common philosophy, rulemaking process, and belief in destiny. When
governing and leading their people, William Bradford and Dekanawida had the same philosophy.
They both strived to unite their people and maintain peace. When governing the new colonists of

Another similarity between William Bradford and Dekanawida is the rules that they enforced
when leading their people. Both sets of rules and laws were centered around avoiding violence
and preserving the wellbeing of the society. In the Iroquois Constitution, Dekanawida states,
People of the Five Nations members of a certain clan shall recognize every other member of that
clan, irrespective of the Nation, as relatives. which basically means that tribe members should
treat each other kindly. Bradford probably had similar rules in the Plymouth Colony. These rules
are what allowed the success of the two groups. The final similarity between William Bradford
and Dekanawida is their belief in destiny. They both believe that a higher force is what led them
to take initiative. ...as by God s good providence they did. That quote from Of Plymouth
Plantation shows Bradford s belief in destiny. He believes that providence led him to take on his
role as a leader. Dekanawida s beliefs come mostly from his past. He even said that It is my
business to stop the shedding of blood among human beings. He interpreted events from his
childhood as a sign that he should continue living and unite the tribes. Both of those quotes

Similarities And Differences Of The Three Rondavels
The comparison between the three Rondavels and the Three Sisters
1 Introduction
The three Rondavels in Mpumalanga and the Three Sisters in Northern Cape are geographical
landforms that are similar but found in two different provinces. In this essay differences and
similarities in appearance, structure, location, geology and climate of these landforms will be
discussed.
2 The Three Rondavels description
The Three Rondavels are located in the Blyde River Canyon region Anon (2006). These Three
Rondavels are round mountains with peaks that are formed in a shape of an African Hut. They
attained this shape as a result of erosion agents. The soft rocks that are found on the upper surface

4.2 Structure
Both of the landforms have three head like structure that are made out of the sedimentary rock
Williams and Marsh (2009:391). They both contain the resistant rocks dolerite and quartzite, which
are hard to erode. (Jasper Stefan, 2015:14)
4.3 Location They Three Sisters and Three Rondavels are both found in South Africaand are
geotourism. These places are surrounded by lodging industries that serves as tourism attraction and
make income.
4.4 Geology
Both of these geographical landforms have the peaks that are resistance to erosion and they are
formed as soft rocks and soils got washed away on the upper surface. The three Rondavels have
tough slate and quartzite . (Jasper Stefan, 2015:14). The Three Sisters consists of dolerite, making
it impossible to get eroded easily on the top, and they both have the soft rocks at the sides that can
be easily eroded giving them the three round peaks.
4.5 Climate
The two landforms are similar but have different climate conditions. This is because they
experience different temperatures and rainfall. The Three Rondavels are in a more arid place and
they tend to be dry. They receive less rainfall and have high temperatures. The Three Sisters are in
the subtropical experiencing wet and humid climate

American Rockwell Freedom From Want Analysis
In contrast to the liberation and artistic freedoms of Pollock s revolutionary art, the American
government preferred conservative work of artists like Norman Rockwell. Norman Rockwell s
paintings embodied a traditional, Regionalist style. One of Rockwell s most renowned pieces of
work is the Freedom From Want, representing the traditional and perfected American lifestyle.
Painted in 1943, Rockwell depicts an ideal white American family celebrating Thanksgiving
dinner. As an artist, Rockwell specialized in displaying traditional and conservative American
values. Through identifiable shapes and brushstrokes, Rockwell creates a scene with a clear
message of American tradition, unlike Pollock. It stands as a symbol of what the ideal, nuclear
American family looks like. Rockwell s Freedom From Want was inspired by President Franklin
Roosevelt s address to Congress in 1941 in which he listed four American basic human... Show

Similar to the way in which the Soviet Union standardized language and education, it similarly
standardized art forms and culture. Under Stalin s directive, Socialist Realism was the only
aesthetic and style of painting that was acceptable. Social Realism was a style used to depict home
life and the landscape through a politically tinted point of view. It was defined as proletarian, art
that was relevant and relatable to workers; typical, scenes of everyday life; realistic in a
representational sense; and partisan, supporting the aims of the State and the communist party. As
the Soviet Union restricted its art and cultural limitations, the CIA noticed a crucial fact about the
polarizing Abstract Expressionism movement: it was the polar opposite of Socialist Realism.
Abstract Expressionism was also fundamentally American. Donald Jameson, former CIA agent,

Analysis Of John Darling I Love You
John darling I love you, when are you going to marry me?
You know I m already married.
Oh hush. She pouted her faded ruby lips on the rim of a martini glass. They lounged on barstools,
leaning against the polished wood and nursing their drinks in relative silence. Billie Holiday s Don t
Explain drifted through the hazy smoke of the speakeasy, dipping around to caress each sorrowed
soul. You ll break a girl s heart that way.
Marion
Don t. Let s just be here. She shifted her crossed legs, smoothing down the red skirt self
consciously. Finishing the dirty martini, Marion smiled brightly to the bartender for another. Then
she turned that smile on John. Darling. What s the band s name again?
He looked at his watch and then pulled his sleeve back down with a tug. Something clever I m
sure. They should be starting soon. He spun the short glass of bourbon between his fingers. Patrons
swayed to soft languid piano music, everyone nestled with someone. Couples were leaving the bar
to have their dance on the floor, he thought of asking Marion. She hated to dance but would be over
the moon at the invitation, and would dance just to spite him. He smiled at the thought.
I don t hate her. Marion put her polished fingers over his hand.
What? his smile faded and he adjusted his glass needlessly.
She s a wonderful girl. Leaning forward and lowering coal lashes, her lips played with a smile. But
that s just what she is.
I love her, Marion.

Before moving ahead ethical values are defined as the values used to determine right and wrong.
Ethical dilemmas are therefore just dilemmas over whether something is right or wrong morally.
Clay shows stronger ethical values at the beginning of the play by acting very robust and

until Lula is able to make Clay snap and react to her mocking and offensive behavior. In a sense it

Humanity tends to praise an individual for their exceptional perseverance, but instead, society
should begin acknowledging the real culprits: the mind and resilience of those who survive the

and in order for one to unearth this buried treasure, they must dig a little deeper. Yann Martels, the

Peter Pan Is A Subversive For Children s Book
Children s literature is an effective teaching tool for children but also a way for children to escape
their daily lives through fantasy. Didactic material can be used to teach life lessons, manners and
morals where subversive and fantasy genres can allow children to release from daily expectations
and allows an outlet for their large imaginations. I argue that Peter Panby J.M. Barrie is both
didactic and subversive. It is subversive in the sense that it is whimsical and entertaining. This is
proven in the Fanatical style of Barrie with children flying, fighting pirates and never having to
grow up if they choose to stay in Neverland, the place where grown ups aren t allowed. However,
the text is also didactic because it teaches the lesson of fairness and gender roles of the time. In
total both of these elements make Barrie s Peter Pan an exceptional children s book that enables
children to be entertained and learn values of fairness and societal roles of the publication time.
Peter Pan is subversive in many elements, from flying, dogs that are caretakers, magical places,
fairies made from laughter and the idea that adults are forbidden. The text takes the children to
Neverland where there are no adults and you never have to grow up. In the child s eye of then
and now adult life is mundane and structured. To quote Alison Lurie s A Child s Garden of
Subversion books of Peter Pan and alike about subversive texts These were the sacred texts of
childhood, whose

The Colonists Did NOT Have Adequate Cause for the American...
Were the Colonists Justified in Their Rebellion against England? Yes Did the Colonists Have an
Adequate Cause for Revolution? No
Starting after the termination of the Seven Year s war, by the Peace of Paris, England repeatedly
violated the American Colonists rights. A series of events, happening between 1763(ending of the
Seven Years war) and 1775 (starting of the revolution), could be taken as motives for the American s
revolution. The Americans claimed that through both, the Sugar Act (1764) and the StampAct
(1765), the British dishonored their rights to taxation. The Townshend Acts also infuriated the
Americans, and as in all other circumstances, they were willing to fight for their rights. The final
justification for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Americans surely refused when asked, by the parliament to revoke the circular letter passed by
the Massachusetts assembly. This created more unity among the colonies, which added to the Acts,
were one more justification for their rebellion.
The Coercive Acts, passed in 1774, were the biggest justification for the revolution. They were
known as the Intolerable Acts. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts
government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed
troops to be quartered wherever needed. The Americans felt that all these were violations of their
rights and that they had been forced to obey laws that violated their rights.
All the above decribed Acts and laws, were a justification for the revolution. However, they are
not valid causes for the rebellion. Considering that the main justification for the revolution was the
passing of the Coercive Acts, these Acts, were only passed because of the Boston Tea party. The
Americans might have said that they were full of all the taxes, and that Englang went too far with
the Tea Act. However Most of the taxes the Americans paid, were much lower than the taxes the
Britsh paid over the same goods.
Ultimately, the colonists were justified in their rebellion against England. However they did not
have an adequate cause for revolution.

The Importance Of Prisons In Prison
A lot of people talk about someone before they get sentenced to prison, but do not ask about what
goes on while they serve time for their actions. Criminals rights are basically revoked during
their sentencing and not given back after. Whether it is the way they are treated by prison
officials, voting while in jail or when they get let free, and the way they are treated for the
religion they follow. They are overlooked by people who have right just because they are locked
up and serving time.
Have you ever asked yourself how are criminals treated while they are serving time? Well if you
have ever asked yourself this questions the answer is poorly. Criminals are treated so poorly by
prison officials. In the article Prisoner Abuse: How Different are U.S. Prisons? they discuss how
prisoners are constantly being abused by their guards. The author states in regards to the way
prison inmates are treated that, In recent years, U.S. prison inmates have been beaten with fists
and batons, stomped on, kicked, shot, stunned with electronic devices, doused with chemical
sprays, choked, and slammed face first onto concrete floors by the officers whose job it is to
guard them. . This is stuff people would usually be sent to jail for doing but because prisoners are
not taken as seriously as other people it is just overturned. This is not a good thing because it does
not go by the human rights that everyone has regardless of the mistakes they make. Officers are

It s an undeniable fact that the Network systems domain is growing rapidly and almost on a daily

The Collective Bargaining Process Of The Uaw
This report represents the analysis of the collective bargaining process of the UAW (known as the
CAW today) and GM (General Motors), presented in the film The Final Offer , 1985. Canada and
the United States were part of the negotiations with General motors to reconcile a bargaining
settlement in 1984. There was a compromise among labor and management that resulted to strike
throughout months of the negotiation process. Craig as well as Hebdon and Brown have framed 3
hypotheses that will concentrate on the economic situation, the consequences of strike, in addition
to, the community interests during bargaining and negotiations. The factors mentioned have been
founded by categorizing the actors, diverse environments, outputs and the conversion mechanisms.
Prior to analyzing the 3 hypotheses we should define the main actors that were a part of the
negotiations. Management part included Rod Andrew (Canadian GM negotiator) and Roger B
Smith (United States GM negotiator). Labor part included Owen Bieber (UAW agent), Buzz
Hargrove and Bob Nickerson (UAWC deputies), as well as, Robert White (UAWC director). Also,
the votes that powerfully counted were the Canadian plant legislators, therefore, based on that we
count them as actors. During 4 nerve wrecking months, there were comprehensive negotiations and
discussions among the management and labor to achieve a sensible understanding agreement
between the parties. The strike made an impact on the agreement, which made a great

to see own children bring up their children is gratifying too. Many old consider age is also a
blessing but it also comes with a cost and arthritis is one of the big costs that the aged continue to
pay. The disease turns chronic with progressive inflammation of the synovial lining of peripheral
joints. It is characterized by symmetric, chronic and deforming polyarthritis that results in long term
joint disability especially in the aged.
Arthritis
Arthro meaning a joint and It is meaning inflammation becomes Arthritis which remains one of the
most common disease in the developed world and manifests itself in three forms of arthritis;
rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and gout. All forms of arthritis can be detected with constant
joint pains, joint swelling and stiffness, warmth in joints and movement problems. There are many
people who are at risk of contacting arthritis but are ignorant of its symptoms. For example, women
who are above the age of sixty are more likely to have arthritis than men. There is also genetically
inherited arthritis that can run in family lines. However, arthritis can be increased due to joint

Diction In Those Winter Sundays By Robert Hayden
In the poem Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden, the speaker is reflecting on his past with
his father, but mainly the Sunday mornings he experienced during his childhood. Throughout the
poem, there also happens to be a very dark and possibly even somber tone, which is shown by
using several different types of literary devices. Hayden utilizes strong imagery supported by
diction and substantial symbolism comprehensively. Furthermore, there are various examples of
both alliteration and assonances. The poem does not rhyme and its meter has little to no order.
Although the father labors diligently all day long, and he still manages to be a caring person in his
sons life. The poem s main conflict comes from the son not realizing how good his father
actually was to him until he was much older. When the speaker was a young boy, he regarded his
father as a callous man due to his stern attitude and apparent lack of proper affection towards him.
Now that the son is older, he discovers that even though his father did not express his love in
words, he consistently did with his acts of kindness and selflessness.
Hayden utilizes diction to set a dark and solemn tone throughout the poem. Like the various
examples of imagery, there is also a strong use of underlying symbolism. In the first stanza, the
words cold (1. 2) and fires blaze (1. 5) are used, which introduces a conflict. This is emphasized
in the second stanza when the word cold (2. 1) is used again, later followed by the word warm
(2. 2). In the last stanza, the father eventually had driven out the cold (3. 2). Yet the father had not
ridden the house of the cold air until the end of the poem, which symbolizes how it took his son
several years later to recognize the behaviors in which his father conveyed his love for him.
This arising tone of regret and distance is also formed by the speaker s depiction of his father
having cracked hands that ached, (1. 3) which further signifies the father s struggle with the
severe coldness. The concept of self sacrifice is apparent in this portrayal of his father s disregard to
his own pain in order to provide warmth and light for his family s home. The stirring of banked fires
blaze (1. 5) within the house,

Similarities Between 1984 And USSR
1984 and USSR 1984 is a book by author George Orwell written in 1948 that makes a bold
prediction about what is to happen to the world in 1984. Orwell predicted a dystopian society
where a figure of power controls everything in the society and demands absolute obedience from
the citizens. Fortunately, this totalitarian government didn t become a reality for the entire
world, and most places remained as a democratic society. However, for the people living in the
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), this type of society became a reality and there were
glaring similarities between society in the USSR and the world in 1984. One of the biggest
similarities between these two societies is the government s ability to rewrite history so easily...

The Aquariums Of Pyongyang Summary
The Aquariums of Pyongyang by Kang Chol Hwan is a memoir about a young boy s life in a
North Korean gulag during the dictatorship of Kim Il sung. His story is profoundly touching,
recounting his glorious childhood, sudden imprisonment in a labor camp, and successful escape to
South Korea. The memoir gives insight to the life of North Koreans from the 1960s to the present,
as the dictatorship tightens and the economy fails. The account is the first of its kind and is filled
with the unimaginable horrors that have faced generations of North Koreans. Along with his
personal story, the author offers his personal criticisms of the government and presents the
difficulties in solving the problems that plague the country. His open ended questions allow the
reader to think about the North Korean plight instead of only hearing his story and dismissing it as
an isolated occurrence. When the memoir was first published in 2000, Kang believed that not many

Though the author s standpoint would seemingly be clear, considering he was on the brink of
starvation for ten years in an internment camp, he brings up the shortfalls of offering aid. He
believes the issue of distributing food is the only issue up to debate. Most of the food would be
given to the ever growing army and the citizens would be left to subsist on meager rations.
Additionally, the aid would allow the government to use its funds for military and self serving
interests. He acknowledges that, with a situation such as that in North Korea, aiding the population
also means maintaining the regime. This problem is just one example of the difficulty of
implementing human rights in deprived areas. The question is never whether or not the citizens
deserve human rights; rather, it is a question of how to support the people without supporting the

Disadvantages Of Juvenile Correctional Methods
Juvenile correctional methods are a key source when it comes to helping treat the juveniles that
are in need of help while they are in a correctional facility. These methods can be a different yet
rewarding to the juveniles that are wanting to better themselves. Such methods are single sex
facilities as well as coed facilities. The importance of single sex programing is reflected in the
debate among juvenile justice experts and practitioners concerning the advantages and
disadvantages of coed verses single sexed juvenile correctional facilities (Ruddell Thomas, 2009,
pg. 150). During the research it is known that there are positive and negative aspects of both that
need to be compared as well as contrasted against one another in order to find the balance of both
and analyzing them by economic issues, preparation for the outside world, programmatic
resources, and cohesion by focusing on the major points within the subjects. In analyzing both
single sex coed facilities the perspective of scripture will not only help support the major points,
but it will bring more life in a more Godly perspective. While there are many issues that must be
taken into consideration when designing a juvenile facility, we would assert that (whenever
possible) single sex or coed environments could be considered best practice, including living
arrangements, dayrooms, and educational spaces (Ruddell Thomas, 2009, pg. 150). Economic

The Quality Of A Balance Scorecard
A balance scorecard is an instrument managers use to gauge performance based on significant
performance measures chosen by the manager. Each performance measure can be tailored to
meet the specific needs of any organization. According to Cardinaels and Veen Dirks, firms either
have a list of measures or groups of measures separated into categories to evaluate performance.
There are four common categories that are used to group and describe the different performance
measures. The four categories are financial, customer, internal business, and learning and growth
(Cardinaels M.G. van Veen Dirks, 2010). Cardinaels and Veen Dirks said the financial category
concentrates on financial data like sales margin percentages and sales growth per store. The
customer perspective concentrates on repetitive sales and customer satisfaction. Internal business
concentrates on returns to suppliers and the amount of orders completed. Learning and growth
concentrates on the development of employees how happy employees are with their job.
Customer, internal business, and learning and growth measures are considered to be non financial
measures (Cardinaels M.G. van Veen Dirks, 2010). According to Cardinaels and Veen Dirks,
placing performance measures into categories help the reader make decisions by being able to
focus on individual areas rather than each individual measure to make an overall decision on the
performance of the organization as a whole. One good thing about an unformatted score

What Does Dover Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red Death
When discussing loss knowing it comes in many forms can create an ubiquitous contemplation
about the derivative of the characters loss. In many Dark Romantic and Gothic pieces loss can
derive from a loved one, psychological torment, or even from an egotistical attribute. These
attributes may seem customary to society, however these issues can take a great toll on a character.
For example, in Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe, he lost his wife to a lung disease which
ultimately caused the narrator to obsess in a form of grief over Annabel Lee. Moreover, in the
Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen the protagonist and the antagonist essentially are the same
person. Mrs. Dover while revisiting an old house she once lived in had created an entire situation
that in her mind and to the reader seem real, once the reader continues the realization that Mrs.

The RFID system mainly includes three parts: reader, antenna, and RFID tag, as shown. Because
of the uniqueness of the RFID tag, the reader can locate and track the target once it is attached on

1.An RFID interrogator, or more often called an RFID reader, is a RF transmitting and receiving

J.R.R. Tolkien was an amazing author who had the ability to forge stories that have captivated

comes from his astounding character development; his way of writing causes the reader to truly
feel what his characters are experiencing and many a reader has cried at the death of a Tolkien
character. However, if most people attempt to think of one of his characters the first ones that come

was his break out stage, when he wrote the hit television series, Patterns. Throughout the fifties
Serling wrote about serious issues in society. Tired of this type of writing, Serling began writing
science fiction and fantasy. According to PBS, Science Fiction allowed Rod

Ava Lavender
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender is magical realism in its truest, most
beautiful form. Lovely, wonderful the English language doesn t possess enough words to
describe this novel perfectly. While reading this, I had a specific line of a specific popular song
stuck in my head that completely described my feelings toward this book. You might have heard
of it. Sugar by Maroon 5? It goes like this: *My broken pieces, You pick them up. Don t leave me
hanging, hanging. My feelings were all over the place. I simultaneously cursed and blessed Leslye
Walton for breaking my heart, mending it, and breaking it all over again. This book starts out in a
downward spiral, in misfortune after misfortune, that eventually leads up. It

Work And Workers In The Twenty-First Century Summary
According to Richard W. Judy and Carol D Amico in the article Work and Workers in the Twenty
First Century , Americans are figuring out how to deal with the dramatic changes in the
workforce. The journey to become a productive worker will not be easy to achieve but the hard
work Americans put in will pay off in the long run. There are four forces that explain the dangers
and satisfactions that are ahead for American workers. The four forces to be considered are as
follows: technological changes, globalization, the aging population, and ethnic diversification. All
four of these factors play a role in coping with the changing workforce. American workers seek
glittering destinations and many workers will reach those destinations, but they will experience
many dead ends and downfalls along the way. Workers will receive more comfortable working and
living conditions that no one could have dreamed of in the past. Even though most workers will
reach glittering destinations, there will still be workers who do not; they will suffer from countless
downfalls and their standards of living may decline. There are two qualities that give an
unprecedented character to the journey ahead. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 2020, approximately 20 percent of the U.S. population will be 65 years or older and
employers have yet to come to grips with this fact. The aging population will affect the
workforce through retirement and those continuing to work. Medicare and Social Security are
very likely to undergo profound changes. Some who reach the age of 65 will not be able to retire
due to the fact that they require outside income. Retired or not, the aging population will
contribute heavily to the consumer market. Their demand for leisure time pursuits and
professional services will fuel local labor markets. This boom in the service sector may replace
many low skilled or unskilled jobs. The aging of the population will be far more dramatic that ethnic

Women s Suffrage Essay
Women s Suffrage
At the turn of the twentieth century, the ideal British woman in Great Britain was to maintain a
demure manner, a composed façade. A delicate disposition with a distain for all things violent and
vulgar. However, by this point in time, an increasing number of women were becoming ever more
frustrated with their suppressed position in society. Women eventually went to extreme, militant
measures to gain rights, especially to gain women the right to vote. Although this controversy in the
short term could perhaps be seen to delay the implementation of women s suffrage, combined with
the rest of their campaigning, the respect they received during World War 1 and the political
situation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, in 1897, led by Millicent Garrett Fawcett, the National Union of Women s Suffrage
Societies was set up. The NUWSS restricted itself to peaceful methods. Their morals and beliefs
were to change other aspects of women s lives in education and social status then gain the vote once
these other targets had been achieved.
In 1906 one of the first major attempts for the enfranchisement of women was undertaken .A
gathering of more than 300 women, representing more than 125,000 suffragists nationwide,
reasoned for women s suffrage with Prime Minister Sir Henry Campbell Bannerman. He did not
disagree with the delegations argument, but was obliged to add that he proposed to do nothing at
all about it . Although he urged women to Keep on pestering .
As well as arguing with politicians to get their cause heard, women had devised many other forms
of persuasion. They used law abiding tactics and
started a massive campaign supporting the Liberal Party to get into power. Although the suffragists
knew that all the political parties were doubtful about votes for women, they felt that the Liberals
were most likely to grant them suffrage. The Liberals were the radicals of the time, believing in
equality for all (hopefully including women). Some Liberals hoped that by giving women the vote
the party would gain more votes in the future.

The Breakdown of Family Life
There is an increasing concern about what some politicians have described as the breakdown of
family life and they have suggested that the only way to fix a broken society is to place more
emphasis on marriage and a return to traditional values.
Examine what are commonly believed to be traditional values .
How far, and for what reasons, do you agree that we are currently witnessing the breakdown of
traditional family life in Britain?
Traditional values simply means coming from tradition rather than any specific philosopher,
moralist or writer. Since the 1970 s, traditional values have become synonymous with family values
and imply a congruence with mainstream Christianity, and have been in ... Show more content on

The Archbishop of York used this argument in a piece in the Guardian when referring to the
complementary nature of men and women . However, if this is the case, it is therefore unfair for
heterosexual couples to marry if either is infertile as they cannot pro create either. Arguments
based on the traditional family life will always be insulting to homosexuals as there is no proof
they are not capable of being able to raise children and be good parents regardless of their gender.
According to the Office of National Statistics, more people are living alone, are being raised by
single parents, and an increasing amount of grown up children are still living with their parents
than in previous years. The nuclear family has been described by one expert as a museum piece
, emphasising the fact that it is a part of history now. Figures showed that 30 percent of women
under 30 had given birth by the age of 25, while 24 percent had married, showing having children
is more of a first major milestone to adult life than getting married. These statistics in comparison
to 1971 show an extreme difference: three quarters of women were married by 25, and half had
given birth. The statistics also showed that the number of adults living alone doubled in generation,
from 6 percent to 12 percent due to divorce, death or marrying at a later age. In reference to the
above statement, the nature of family has changed significantly in the past 30 years so the
government are correct

Homeopaths use lm potencies to treat hypersensitive patients mainly because they are more gentle. Lm potencies speed up the cure of patients as well as lessen the aggravations. Hahnemann felt that centicimal potencies caused too much of an aggravation which lead to a patient suffering. Lm potencies are made by diluting a remedy in a ratio of 1 to 50000 at each step, while still succussing at 100. Due to the fast that the succussions are low, the aggravations will be low and because it is diluted so many times it increases the strength of the remedy. Lowry is known for grasping measures of social control and taking them a step further. While some, such as Lucas Kavner (2012) and Carter F. Hanson (2009) declare their acclamation for her out of the box writing technique, scholars and Utopian studies, such as Lyman Tower Sargent (1988), Tom Moylan (2014), and Fredric Jameson (1998), place emphasis on the contradiction that dystopia has on nature. The figurative community Lowry writes of lacks any color, memory, climate, or understanding of their territory, all in an effort to uphold structural order and a true sense of equality beyond personal individuality. Didactic material can be used to teach life lessons, manners and morals where subversive and fantasy genres can allow children to release from daily expectations and allows an outlet for their large imaginations. I argue that Peter Panby J.M. Barrie is both didactic and subversive. It is subversive in the sense that it is whimsical and entertaining. This is proven in the Fanatical style of Barrie with children flying, fighting pirates and never having to grow up if they choose to stay in Neverland, the place where grown ups aren t allowed. However, the text is also didactic because it teaches the lesson of fairness and gender roles of the time. In total both of these elements make Barrie s Peter Pan an exceptional children s book that enables children to be entertained and learn values of fairness and societal roles of the publication time. Peter Pan is subversive in many elements, from flying, dogs that are caretakers, magical places, fairies made from laughter and the idea that adults are forbidden. The text takes the children to Neverland where there are no adults and you never have to grow up. In the child s eye of then and now adult life is mundane and structured. A series of events, happening between 1763(ending of the Seven Years war) and 1775 (starting of the revolution), could be taken as motives for the American s revolution. The Americans claimed that through both, the Sugar Act (1764) and the StampAct (1765), the British dishonored their rights to taxation. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed troops to be quartered wherever needed. The Americans felt that all these were violations of their rights and that they had been forced to obey laws that violated their rights. All the above decribed Acts and laws, were a justification for the revolution. However, they are not valid causes for the rebellion. Diction In Those Winter Sundays By Robert Hayden In the poem Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden, the speaker is reflecting on his past with his father, but mainly the Sunday mornings he experienced during his childhood. Throughout the poem, there also happens to be a very dark and possibly even somber tone, which is shown by using several different types of literary devices. Hayden utilizes strong imagery supported by diction and substantial symbolism comprehensively. Furthermore, there are various examples of both alliteration and assonances. The poem does not rhyme and its meter has little to no order. Although the father labors diligently all day long, and he still manages to be a caring person in his sons life. The poem s main conflict comes from the son not realizing how good his father actually was to him until he was much older. When the speaker was a young boy, he regarded his father as a callous man due to his stern attitude and apparent lack of proper affection towards him. Now that the son is older, he discovers that even though his father did not express his love in words, he consistently did with his acts of kindness and selflessness. Hayden utilizes diction to set a dark and solemn tone throughout the poem. Like the various examples of imagery, there is also a strong use of underlying symbolism. In the first stanza, the words cold (1. 2) and fires blaze (1. 5) are used, which introduces a conflict. This is emphasized in the second stanza when the word cold (2. 1) is used again, later followed by the word warm (2. 2). In the last stanza, the father eventually had driven out the cold (3. 2). Yet the father had not ridden the house of the cold air until the end of the poem, which symbolizes how it took his son several years later to recognize the behaviors in which his father conveyed his love for him. This arising tone of regret and distance is also formed by the speaker s depiction of his father having cracked hands that ached, (1. 3) which further signifies the father s struggle with the severe coldness. The concept of self sacrifice is apparent in this portrayal of his father s disregard to his own pain in order to provide warmth and light for his family s home. The stirring of banked fires blaze (1. 5) within the house, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fortunately, this totalitarian government didn t become a reality for the entire world, and most places remained as a democratic society. However, for the people living in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), this type of society became a reality and there were glaring similarities between society in the USSR and the world in 1984. The importance of single sex programing is reflected in the debate among juvenile justice experts and practitioners concerning the advantages and disadvantages of coed verses single sexed juvenile correctional facilities (Ruddell Thomas, 2009, pg. 150). Each performance measure can be tailored to meet the specific needs of any organization. According to Cardinaels and Veen Dirks, firms either have a list of measures or groups of measures separated into categories to evaluate performance. There are four common categories that are used to group and describe the different performance measures. The four categories are financial, customer, internal business, and learning and growth (Cardinaels M.G. van Veen Dirks, 2010). Cardinaels and Veen Dirks said the financial category concentrates on financial data like sales margin percentages and sales growth per store. The customer perspective concentrates on repetitive sales and customer satisfaction. Internal business concentrates on returns to suppliers and the amount of orders completed. Learning and growth concentrates on the development of employees how happy employees are with their job. Customer, internal business, and learning and growth measures are considered to be non financial measures (Cardinaels M.G. van Veen Dirks, 2010).
