The Secession Crisis Of 1860-1861
Between 1846 and 1861, many events had impacts on the United States that lead up to the
secession crisis of 1860 1861. Slavery had great impacts on the country, such as the economic
effect of the South overestimating its importance due to the prevalence of slave grown cotton.
Westward expansion had the social effect of the citizens of territories wanting statehood to get
into arguments and civil wars due to popular sovereignty. States rights had the political effect of
the southern states believing that since they agreed to become part of the United States, they
could just as easily leave the country. Without a doubt, the social, economic, and political effects
of slavery, westward expansion, and states rights lead to the secession crisis of 1860 1861, with
the political effects being seen the greatest. Slavery had major economic and social effects that
lead up to the secession crisis of 1860 1861. Slavery had the largest effect on the secession crisis,
as compared to westward expansion and states rights. Slavery had the largest effect on the secession
crisis because economically, it made the South overestimate its importance. With large number of
slaves working on plantations, the plantations could produce a lot of goods to send to the North.
One major export from the South to the North was cotton. Since the North was heavily reliant on
Southern cotton, the South believed that if they would secede they would cripple the North s
economy, making the North more likely to

The Right Pressure Cooker For Your Home
There are many important factors to consider when you are looking for the right pressure cooker
for your home. Whether you are a beginner to pressure cookers or have used them for years, there
are still many different functions and features to look for when you start your search.
Quality Materials Stainless Steel
It doesn t really matter how many new and improved features a pressure cooker and canner may
have if the unit itself isn t made of quality materials. Many well known cookware companies use
the best materials by default, but it is important to check this fact out yourself when you are
comparison shopping. A pressure cooker that is made of durable, high quality stainless steelis the
best type to look for. Check the bottom stamp or the label to see whether or not the product is 18
/10 Stainless Steel , which means it has a composition of 10% nickel and 18% chromium. A stainless
steel product has to have at least 10.5% chromium in order for it to label itself as stainless. More
chromium will add to the strength of the model, as well. Nickel helps to increase the protective
layers and also adds a shine to the appliance. Pressure cookers use heavy stainless steel in order to
keep the units intact under enormous amounts of heat. This is why anything less, like a pressure
cooker made from cheap aluminum materials, would not be a good idea to purchase.
Additionally, pressure cookers that are made from stainless steel will not stain, are much stronger
than aluminum and

Plantation and Race in the Caribbean Essay
Plantation and Race in the Caribbean The incredible history of the Caribbean is indeed, one of the
most rich, and at the same time troubling, of the New World. Its incredibly heterogeneous
population and its social racial base make it a very difficult place to, for instance, live and raise a
family.
While some children may have a future because of their light complexion, the others are doomed to
a life of poverty in the unforgiving culture and society of the Caribbean.
Three people have taken it upon themselves to portray the Caribbean in their own ways. The
opinions of Sidney Mintz, Michelle Cliff and Antonio Benitez Rojo are made clear in their works
and are discussed below in relation to two main issues; race and the ... Show more content on

Boy is white, and is very intent on being so. He does not help out dark people, and only
condemns them when he sees them. Clare s mother, Kitty is darker and is the opposite of Boy
in her treatment of the darker colored people on the island. She does not talk much when Boy
criticizes her people, but near the end of the book both parents make their feelings abundantly
clear in their argument over the black woman urinating on the side of the street. Boy says to his
family, What are we to do with people like that. (Cliff, 1984, p.130) Kitty retorts, Where do you
get this we stuff, white man? (Ibid.) Boy responds with, Come on, Kitty, no matter what you do
with them, they ll never be like us. (Ibid., p.131) This is too much for Kitty, who in a rare state of
rage yells, Why don t you shut your filthy hateful mouth, you damn cuffy. She s probably pregnant
and alone something you would not know about. (Ibid.) With that, Kitty makes him stop the car
and so she could give the woman all the money that she had on her. This example illustrates
perfectly how the issue of race permeates the everyday lives of the inhabitants of Jamaica, and the
rest of the Caribbean for that matter.
This is certainly not meant to be an isolated case of racial incident, as is portrayed throughout the
rest of the book. Boy s racism is also shown in many other ways, such as by the fact that he wants

Fig. 3.1 Fingerprint scanning
Minutia points represent positions where friction ridges end abruptly or where a ridge branches into
two or many more ridges. A typical good quality fingerprint template contains 20 70 minutiae
points; the actual number depends on the size of the finger sensor surface and how the user places
his or her finger on the sensor. The system stores the minutiae information position and direction
along with the user s demographic information as a template in the enrollment database. During the
identification phase, the user puts the finger on the same sensor, generating a new fingerprint image
or template called query print. Minutiae points are carried out from the query print, and the matcher
module compares the set of query minutia with the stored minutia templates or image in the
enrollment database to find the number of similar minutia points. Because of variations present in
finger placement and pressure applied to the sensor, the minutia points take out from the template
and query fingerprints must be lined up, or submitted before matching. After line up the
fingerprints, the matcher decides the number of pairs of matching minutiae two minutiae points

Sacajawea Thesis
Heather Martin
Sacajawea
Sacajawea is one of the most known American Indian women. Her voyage with explorers Lewis
and Clark was legendary. She was born in Tendoy, Idaho around 1788. She was a member of the
Lemhi Shoshone tribe. America was only 12 years old at this time and the territory ended at the
Mississippi river. One year after the United States doubled its territory with the Louisiana Purchase,
the Lewis and Clark expedition leaves St. Louis, Missouri, on a mission to explore the Northwest
from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean (History). Even before the purchase was finished,
President Thomas Jefferson sent his private secretary Meriwether Lewis and army captain William
Clark on an expedition into what is now the U.S. Northwest. ... Show more content on

On August 12th, 1805 the group came upon a Shoshone tribe that happened to be led by
Sacajawea s brother. There they bought horses from the Shoshone people to complete the rest of
their journey. With Sacajawea in the group, they appeared peaceful when they came across other
American Indian tribes because a man coming for a battle would not bring a woman and a baby.
According to Clark s journal, the group reached the Pacific Ocean on November 4th, 1805. After
reaching the Pacific coast in November 1805, Sacagawea was allowed to cast her vote along with
the other members of the expedition for where they would build a fort to stay for the winter. They
built Fort Clatsop near present day Astoria, Oregon, and they remained there until March of the
following year. Sacagawea, her husband, and her son remained with the expedition on the return

standard is to never strive for the bare minimum, but to always do everything to the best of our

importantly, to go above and beyond the call of duty. Staying motivated and dedicated and applying

Hell through Dante s Eyes Upon entering an antechamber to hell, Dante and Virgil come upon
large gates. Dante hears screams from souls that were damned and rejected by God, but also not
accepted by hell. The nowhere souls are punished because of their refusal to make a choice in life.
Tormented by flies and hornets on a furious pace forever, the souls are held captive by these large
gates. Crossing through the gates, Dante and Virgilare met by the boatman Charon at the windy
River Archeron. Rescinding from the boat, they enter the First Circle of Hell, known as Limbo.

How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Othello
Othello is a play about suffering; every character in the play has some cruel compounce: not a
single being in the play escapes their harsh fate. Fate is the driving force of Othello, This is shown
through the ease of deception by Iago, the various religious influences spread throughout. as well as
the meta analysis present in most of shakespeare s plays. Deception is used throughout the play by
Iago, however it is not the driving force as said by Alyssa Brown. Othellohas the fairly typical
theme of deception. Self deception is also a theme (Alyssa Brown, Brown/A/Deception).
Deception does not exist in the play. The characters have no freewill and cannot be deceived. This
play uses deception wrong according to Shakespeare. Usually, Shakespeare uses deception to a
positive end of the players. When used in tragedies, Romeo and Juliet use deception to further their
love, although it does ultimately end with their deaths, it ends with the Montague and Capulet
families coming together. Shakespeare uses deception to a positive end. Othello does not. Out of
the six main characters, four are dead and the other two are maimed and fated... Show more content

How Does Mercury Energy Affect Ethical Behavior
The power disconnection by Mercury Energy resulted to the premature death of Mrs. Muliaga.
Though health specialists assigned to Mrs. Muliaga had only given her 1 3 years of life, she had
defied the odds and lived for over five years. When the news of Mercury Energy participation

principles in its operations. Capitalism in business means that a company is driven to make profits.
Mercury Energy disconnected the Muliaga s power supply without determining the underlying

misbehavior by failing to overlook their disconnection policy based on the patient s need for an

The executives and management of Mercury Energy also came off as contemptuous, having

IP Address Essay
As stated by the website howstuffworks.com (What is an IP address?), An IP address is assigned
to every device connected to the Internet. This is a 32 bit protocol, as it consists of 4 binary
octets . However they are usually written in decimal form for ease of use. The maximum decimal
number allowed by one octet is 255 (or 11111111 in binary). The total number of unique
possibilities of 4 octets would therefore be 256^4, roughly 4.3 billion addresses.
Demand for IP addresses is increasing due to reasons such as low cost computers, advancement in
technology, and improvements in accessibility. Personal computers have been subject to a dramatic

The dot com bubble also saw a rapid uproar in the number of web based companies, such as
Amazon and eBay. Much smaller businesses have also adapted to the Internet and are making use of
its low cost. Also, due to the low cost and minimal knowledge require to run and maintain a website,
thanks to Content Management Systems and website creation software, many personal websites, to
do with hobbies, interests and experiences are also present on the Internet.
Due to all these factors, the number of devices connected to the Internet has increased, therefore
the number of available IP addresses has decreased, leading to the situation that IP addresses will
run out by 2011.
A possible solution to this problem would be for devices to share IP addresses. This can be done by
using NAT (Network Address Translation
). NAT sends and receives data back and forth between
the computer and the Internet. Multiple computers can use the same NAT, and to the Internet, it
will seem as though the data is all coming from one computer, rather than several computers. A
particular use of NAT is in routers and modems for home networks. These allow many computers
to connect to a LAN (Local Area Network) with their own private IP addresses, but they are all
connected to the Internet with a single IP address.
The following diagram shows this implementation of NAT.

Fantasy Sports Should Not Be Considered Gambling
Fantasy Sports; gambling or not. Fantasy sports should not be considered gambling. Fantasy
sports requires the player to be knowledgeable about the sport that they are playing in. Gambling
requires no skill whatsoever. Any given day, the greatest poker playing in the world could be
beaten by someone who just read the rulebook. In fantasy sports, the more knowledgeable and
experienced player will have a better chance of winning in the end. Luck is a huge factor in
gambling, not so in fantasy sports. By definition gambling is risky, full of hunches and gut feelings.
gambling on something usually doesn t turn out the way the better hoped it would. With fantasy
sports the luck is minimized. Finally, Money is always involved with true gambling. Fantasy sports
are often recreational. Friends at work or at school will often start these leagues to have fun.
Players with more experience are more likely to win in fantasy sports. With gambling the same
cannot be said. Gambling has no real skill involved. If a person bets on a horse race, they do so
with blind faith in that horse. Sure, you can watch that horse and figure out if it can do well or
not. At the end of the day, none of that will matter. In fantasy sports players need experience to

Media Reflection Paper
Today the life revolves around media, it is on people s phones, media decorate their walls, and for
some media is their job. Since media is such an inescapable part of the modern landscape it is
significant that we as individuals understand how the media works and how it affects us. In this
course, the nature of the mediahas been unraveled to reveal the ways that it has impacted society
and how it has done this. This class has made me became more critical of the media in my life
and now even without thinking I recognize patterns, and in some cases toxic themes in the media
I consume. Looking back on this semester and what I have learned I can see that I have become
more media literate in many ways, primarily in the areas of awareness and analysis. I have
become more aware of the way media is constructed. Some things that have stood out to me since
I have started this course is for example the other day when I flew into the ST. Louis airport after
Thanksgiving break one of the monitors in baggage claim said that it was CLear Channel TV
before this course I do not know what clear channel was and I knew that the entertainment
business was an oligopoly but I did not realize the extent. Seeing this was a moment of realization,
that what I read was real, this one company has its hands in every pot. I have also noticed how
much media means to people, I was speaking to one of my friends and I mentioned that I thought
marvel was better that DC and she became very upset at me. It occurred to me that being a DC
comics fan was a part of her identity, before I knew that people took entertainment personally but
it was not actively looking for it. I have increased my ability to analyze the media I consume,
now I am more aware of the way industries target audiences. One of the easiest ways this can be
seen is in commercials, advertisers make there for a specific audience, video game commercials are
a good example Game of Wart has a woman in its commercials who speaks in an alluring voice and
invites audiences to come join her. She is there for the male gaze, men are the desired customers
that companies look for, so she is there as a way of saying that this game will make the player feel

People can post some foolish things on Facebook. Some posts go beyond embarrassing or ill

community instead of jail or prison. Parole is a dated time where parolees are supervised upon
release from prison. Some offenders are not dangerous to society. Their crimes do not warrant
incarceration. The crimes are petty offences and will not be placed in a general population in prison.
If they are placed in a prison they might be subject to gang raped, bullying, which will cost them to
retaliate and possibly lock them into a life of crime. Community correctionsis cost effective. It is
best to keep them in the community and have them supervise by trained court officers... Show more

Brown wasn t taken into custody after his probation was revoked even though the probation
department recommended jail time. The judge scheduled a court date to check on his progress.
TMZ reports the judge scheduled a March 20th court date to check in on Brown s progress. At
Friday s hearing, Mr. Brown s probation officer stated a positive review that he had completed his
community service sentence. The judge had the option of prolonging his probation, however, he
ruled the singer would no longer be under the eye of the judicial system.
Though Chris Brown still have issues, probation has definitely helped him to turn his life around
and to think in a positive manner. He has a long way to go, but it is a working progress. Now he
is more into his music, and focused on staying out of trouble. In my opinion, instead of throwing
offenders in jail for crimes probation is a great remedy which has impacted many individuals for
being incarcerated. I think probation should be an option for minor crimes and should be more
enforced often. I think community correction is great program that should be implemented and
required in all states, thus allowing minor offender the opportunity to be reformed on the outside. I
specifically implored community conviction especially as related to juvenile. Often time juveniles
are at the wrong place at the wrong time unjustly prosecuted due to lack of family support and
money. This service will greatly impact juveniles in a poor community, and does

Descartes First Meditation
Descartes First Meditation
Descartes believes that knowledge comes from within the mind, a single indisputable fact to build
on that can be gained through individual reflection. While seeking true knowledge, Descartes writes
his Six Meditations. In these meditations, Descartes tries to develop a strong foundation, which all
knowledge can be built upon. In the First Meditation, Descartes begins developing this foundation
through the method of doubt. He casts doubt upon all his previous beliefs, including matters which
are not entirely certain and indubitable [and] those which appear to be manifestly false.
(Descartes, p.75, par.3) Once Descartes clears away all beliefs that can be called into doubt, he can
then build a strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4) This thought experiment leads Descartes to another method in doubt. Descartes then goes on
to assume that there is a God, who is all powerful, and created this world; yet he asks, How do I
know that He has not brought it to pass that there is no earth, no heaven, no extended body, no
magnitude, no place, and that nevertheless they seem to me to exist just exactly as I know see
them? (Descartes, p.76, par.5) Without a guarantee of reality, maybe all of his previous beliefs
are false. Descartes doubts the supreme goodness of a God that would let him be deceived even
occasionally. Moreover, if a perfect God does not exist then it becomes probable that Descartes
himself is increasingly imperfect and therefore is constantly being misled. If, however, it is
contrary to His goodness to have made me such that I constantly deceive myself, it would also
appear contrary to His goodness to permit me to be sometimes deceived, and nevertheless I
cannot doubt that he does permit this. (Descartes, p.76, par.5) Descartes assumes the scenario that
God is really an evil demon . I will suppose therefore that not God, who is supremely good and the
source of truth, but rather some malicious demon of the utmost power and cunning has employed
all his energies in order to deceive me. I shall think the sky, the air, the earth, colours, shapes,
sounds and all external things are merely the delusions of dreams, which he has devised to ensnare

The Soviet Union Of The Korean War
With a total of approximately 7 million soldiers, sailors, and airmen from America fought in the
Korean War, thousands of them lost their lives. But why, you may ask? Well, up until World War
II, Korea has been one nation that had belonged to Japan and was known as the Korean Peninsula.
After World War II, the winners of the war divided it into two countries. The northern half was ruled
by the Soviet Union, while the U.S. took control of the southern half. The line that divided the
country in half was called the 38th parallel. The Soviets wanted to expand the communist influence
more in Korea. The United States encouraged democracy instead, but that caused an uproar. This
disagreement caused Joseph Stalin to declare an invasion of South... Show more content on

The other reason was to protect Japan, which the United States thought would be the next
country on North Korea s list to invade and try to take over. As the first couple weeks went on,
The United States rushed a new weapon into the fields that provided an effective counter to
North Korean armor. This new weapon was called the M 20 bazooka or also known as the super
bazooka. The super bazooka could fire a larger, 3.5 inch rocket that was capable of penetrating
the North Korean armor. This gave the U.S. and the United Nations troops an advantage,
although tensions were still created by the North Korean army. This tension led both Presidents
Truman and Eisenhower to consider dropping a nuclear bomb on Korea, but eventually got
turned down due to the worry of starting a World War III. The United States did drop other
bombs trying to end the war as quickly as possible. They released more bombs in Korea than in
the entire Pacific theater during World War II. Also, the United States initially wanted to only
defend the Southern half of Korea because they never actually declared war in the first place.
However, President Truman convinced the United Nations that they should expand and liberate
North Korea as well. Under the leadership of General MacArthur, they did gain control of most of
North Korea. MacArthur wanted to keep fighting, despite China s overwhelming numbers. He
argued with Truman, his

Mandala Symbols
My mandala contains things that are important to me and represent me. I chose these consists of
my personality, who is important to me, and what is important to me in the future. I chose the
lotus flower as one of the symbols that represent me. I put it in the middle because this is the
main symbol that represents me. It symbolizes strength. I did not chose it based on physical
strength, but more on emotionally. It is also on what I can handle through the hardships through
my life. This is important to me because the strength that I use to get on each day is how I carry
on. Without the strength that I use, I would give in and probably fail out of highschool and stay
home everyday. Another symbol that I choose was the X. In situations in means freedom and
independence. I choose this symbol because I am a very independent person. If I have a problem
then I like to solve and figure it out on my own. One of my other symbols is friendship, which

Significance of the Nazi Soviet Non Aggression Pact
The Nazi Soviet Non Aggression Pact was extremely significant in regards to the outbreak of war
in Europe in 1939, however there were several other factors that also led to the outbreak of WWII.
These factors include; the allied policy of appeasement, the failure the League of Nations and
Collective Security and the aggressive nature of Nazi and Italian foreign policy.
The signing of the 1939 Nazi Soviet Non Aggression Pact was extremely significant in regards to

As it was built on the unrealistic premise that nations would overlook their own interests in order to
look after other members, the League of Nations and Collective Security was destined to fail.
Nations were required to turn over their right to make decisions and foreign policies over to an
international body so as to establish internationalism. The requirements of the league are
described by historian E.H Carr as being, overly optimistic, hollow and without substance. The
invasion of Abyssinia by Mussolini was the embodiment of the failure of Collective Security.
Upon hearing of Mussolini s intent to invade the smaller country, Britain and France decided to
refrain from intervening as they hoped to make an ally of Italy and did not want Mussolini to
break the Stresa Front and side with Hitler. Of course Italy did side with Hitler and through their
idleness, set a precedent of inaction that encouraged Hitler and the axis powers to act. Similar
examples of the failure of the League can also be seen in its response to Italy and Germany s
involvement in the Spanish Civil War and Japan s invasion of Manchuria.
Much like the policy of appeasement, the failure of the League of Nations gave the axis powers the
idea that little to no action would be taken

The Disadvantages And Pros And Cons Of Geothermal Energy
Energy is everywhere: you can feel it; you can listen to it; you can step on it. In the 21st century,
scientists and engineers made a huge progress in the development of different types of alternative
energy sources, the most popular of which are solar energy, wind energy, and geothermal energy.
However, people knowing all the advantages of these energy types, in many cases, cannot afford
them because of several problems. Geothermal energy is a developing technology that extracts the
heat from the Earth. In order to increase the prevalence of it, engineers are trying to eliminate the
disadvantages of the technology, which are unavailability of equipment of the whole system, lack

According to Gupta, the advantages of geothermal energy are that it is a renewable and
environment friendly source, it needs small spaces, it can be extracted anywhere, and it does not
depend on the weather (50). But the part that scientists are concerned more about is the cons of the
geothermal energy, because they does not allow the technology to be widely used all over the
world. To understand the most common problems connected with this technology, I searched more
articles on this topic and found the academic article Geothermal Energy: Delivering on the Global
Potential by Paul L. Younger, who analyzed some advantages and disadvantages of the geothermal
systems. According to Younger, although the geothermal energy has higher efficiency than wind or
solar energy systems, it remains the least developed among them because of uncertainties about the
availability of geothermal resources in many regions and high concentration of expenses at early
stages of using the geothermal systems (Young 11748). The author concludes that advances in
drilling technologies and improvements in the management of shallow recourses can lower the
installation cost of geothermal systems

4 Effects Of The Proclamation Of Emergency
Four important effects of the proclamation mentioned in Article 353, 354, 358 and 359 are as
follows: The first important effect of the proclamation is : Contrary to the normal
circumstances, during proclamation of emergency, the Executive power of the Union extends to
giving directions to the State as to the manner in which the executive power is to be exercised.
The legislative power of the Union also is extended to making laws in the State List, for a State

Reflection About Divergent
The entire lives of the citizens in Divergent are determined by what they are in. The only freedom
that they are granted is the ability to choose their faction. There are five factions with a personality
type and those are Abnegation (selflessness), Amity (happiness), Candor (honesty), Dauntless
(brave), and Erudite (knowledge). I do not think the factions represent every basic personality.
There are some people like Tris who are just not one personality type. I think I would create one
that could be for the people who failed the test or feel like they belong to more than one faction.
The reason behind the creation of the factions was to create peace and order within the society. I
believe that the factions are working because Tris s society, the factions have held together the
structure in her community. In Tris s society, the fact that they do not have a lot of choices is not
really making the society better. Something else that does not help, is that the divergents have to
hide.
A faction I think I would have been born into is candor because of my family valuing honesty. I
would have wanted to choose Erudite because of the knowledge and intelligence. At the age of
sixteen, I would not feel that comfortable choosing my faction because at that age you are not very
experienced. You are young and could make the wrong choice.
A choice that I have made that had changed me is to be more positive. Some future choices that I
will also make is to not let certain things and opinions

Beethoven s Major Accomplishments
Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous composer between the Classical and Romantic eras. He
was born in December of 1770, in Bonn, Germany. Ludwig had a terrible childhood, because of
his dad who was an alcoholic most of his life, who was also a musician himself, and with that his
father would make him play the piano and practice every day and would smack him if he made a
mistake. This is how he developed such a talent for music, because of his father. Although he was
deaf, he made most of his famous and important works during that time. He still remains to be the
most famous and influential composers of all time. At the age of seventeen, his teacher and
mentor sent him to Vienna, to study more in depth of the art of music. There in Vienna, he was
able to meet great musicians and composers, such as Mozart. Ludwig would continue to grow in
his knowledge of music and writing great symphonies. From his time in Vienna, he began to excel
and people began to notice him. This all started his impact on music. From Beethoven s famous
works, moonlight sonata to the 3rd symphony, Beethoven is considered as the most well known
composer between the transitions of classical music to the romantic era. (Biography Par. 3) In

Mr. Bea talks about British Petroleum, which is most known for its oil spill in the Gulf of
Mexico. Bea pointed to the congressional testimony, that BP ignored problems with a dead
battery, leak cement job and loose hydraulic fittings (Borenstein). Here, BP s excessive pride
lead to improper thinking, BP specifically thought that it could continue to ship and drill oil with
a variety of known problems. In the end, BP faced a lot of criticism and worst of all, the Gulf of

The recent 2007 2009 global financial crisis has led to series of failures of many conventional
banks throughout the world. Furthermore, some empirical researches have evidenced the
superiority of Islamic banks performance over its conventional counterparts during the crisis period
(Hasan Dridi 2010; Parashar Venkatesh 2010). These led to increase in global attention towards
stability of Islamic banking system.
Despite of increased attention on Islamic banks, recent studies have evidenced mixed result on the
stability of Islamic banks over its conventional counterparts (Belouafi et al. 2013; Kassim Abd.
Majid 2010; Rokhim Gamaginta 2009; Bourkhis Nabi 2013). Thus, indicates that there is non
consensus on the stability of Islamic banks over its conventional counterparts.
Bank stability during the recent 2007 2009 global financial crisis has been studied from various
perspectives; among others are the application of various measures of bank stability, determinants
of bank stability, and impact analysis. Recent studies which examine the impact of crisis on bank
stability have given attention specifically during the crisis period. While it is useful to examine
the degree of bank stability during the period of crisis, it is also important to determine its degree
after the period of crisis. This is vital as the impact of

In the aforementioned tale, The Knight with the Two Swords, many forces are at work, including
magic and brotherly love, but at its close, honor emerges as the primary reason behind the undoing
of the double sword wielding Balin. The final message is intriguing: pride s paradoxical traits lead
one to glory and avoidable death.
Revenge, a perfectly legitimate method of righting wrongs in medieval England, is often a natural
avenue to gain recognition and acclaim. Previously a humble knight in the lower ranks, Balin s
name becomes better known when his virtue merits an enchanted sword. With this sword, Balin
avenges his mother s murder by decapitating the Lady of the Lake (the very sorceress who
bestowed Excalibur unto Arthur) in front of Arthur s eyes. Although Balin did this in the name of
justice, King Arthur took deep offence and Balin was reduced to travel around the kingdom
incognito. Throughout his wandering days, Balin s single goal is to reestablish the respect the
king once had for him. The process of doing so ironically leads to a deadly confrontation with a
masked knight (Balin s brother in disguise) whom no one has defeated. Naturally, Balin instigates a
duel with the notorious knight and his success is also his demise.

The HR Profession Map is available on the CIPD website and enables CIPD members to carry out
a self assessment online and receive expert advice and guidance, in turn helping them to reach their
professional goals. It was developed after extensive research amongst HR Professionals and enables
people to benchmark themselves against the findings. The map will constantly evolve, keeping it
relevant to the changing needs of the HR Profession.
The map is broken into 4 main sections:

This is an area that I would like to develop further.
Having completed the assessments on the online HR Map it has placed me as a Band 2.
There are 2 areas that I am particularly interested in, Assessment and Selection and Induction as I
come from a training background.
Assessment and Selection:
1. Ensure all internal and external interviewers and assessors are competent and fully trained in the
chosen approach, including those sourced from third parties.
In this area I could development a training programme that all interviewers and assessors would
have to undertake before being able to take part in recruitment events. The training could be both a
mix of soft skills and practical work to develop role playing and interview techniques. I would also
require everyone to pass a practical assessment at the end.
2. Develop and deliver assessment and selection processes to enable the organisation to make
informed choices about candidates based on a full range of information.
In this area I would have to evaluate what we needed to assess at the interview. What will the

Not only is being a hero honorable, but they also have moral ethics, strength and the power to fight

The Libation Bearers and Hamlet
The Libation Bearers and Hamlet
Many of Shakespeare s plays draw from classical Greek themes, plot and metaphors. The tragedies
of Sophocles, Aeschylus, Euripides and Homer have themes like royal murders, assassinations by
near relatives, the supernatural, ghostly visits, and vengeful spirits of the dead themes which
reappear in Shakespeare s tragedies with a difference.
Shakespeare s tragic hero Hamlet and Aeschylus s Orestes have a great deal in common. Both the
plays are set in a time when the society is going through transition. In Orestia gods are changing.
Furies turn into Eumenides or the Pacified Ones. Social and political norms are changing. The old
laws of revenge and retribution have to be re established. Similarly Hamlet s ... Show more content

Both the tragic heroes are troubled by supernatural visits and nightmares. Both have ethical and
moral dilemmas , nevertheless, Hamlet is much more scholarly and agonized than Orestes who
better fits in the robe of a Classical Greek revenge hero.
Jessica Price observes:
An onslaught of tragic elements appear in both Hamlet and The Oresteia. Hamlet s hamartia in
William Shakespeare s Hamlet leads to his succumbing to corruption and his eventual demise. In
The Oresteia by Aeschylus, Orestes hamartia takes a slightly different course, causing him to
stumble, but not completely fall.
While Orestes never indulges in long existential speeches or philosophical thinking Hamlet
delays the action in his endless quest for a right answer. Hamlet is not faced with the terrible
commitment of killing his own mother. He has to kill his uncle to whom one is not as dearly
related as a son is to his mother. Still he does not consider it right to kill his uncle on an
apparitions command. He puts him to test to affirm what his father s ghost said. He arranges a
play based on the actual event of king s murder to be performed before his uncle and mother and
note their responses to it. Even after his suspicion is validated he cannot bring himself round to kill
his uncle. He wants to heal what has been hurt, make right what is wrong, do the justice but deep
inside he does not want to kill Claudius. Orestes, on the other hand, right

Even the slightest inaccuracy of sales forecasting and potential revenue amounts can skew other
pertinent schedules which inevitably compromises the master budget plans.
Budget Planning Concerns Continued Another concern identified, is the utilities expense budget
for utilities in Year 9 which is $150,000. This amount is identified as a fixed amount and is
unrelated to actually production activities and manufacturing efficiency. Considering that
production levels and activity fluctuates throughout the year, the budget for utilities should be a
variable item. An example; from Year 7 to Year 8, the utilities expenses increase by $15,000 and
with this detection, ways to reduce this expense should be investigate. Another concern is a
duplicated line item under the Selling, General, and Administrative Budget for Utilities and
Utilities and Services. Another issue for concern, Total Variable Costwas reported to be lower;
however was not enough for the lack of sales combined with an increase in advertising and
transportation which resulted in an overall negative result. The low Net Sales directly impacted the
Contribution Margin which decreased by $49,397. Overall, these concerns indicate the need for a
flexible budget with variance analysis.

Mad Scientists and Mad Elements Essay
We all know the saying, Don t judge a book by it s cover. Similarly, every element in the periodic
table has its own story and its own unique meaning. However, the average high schooler simply
associates these elements as something used in their chemistry classes. In fact, the elements seen on
the periodic tableactually have much more to do in our daily lives and in history than most people
know. While giving a whole new perspective to the meaning of Chemistry, author Sam Kean
successfully recounts the hidden tales through humor and wit in his bestselling novel The
Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from
the Periodic Table of Elements. Specifically, Chapter 15, An Element of... Show more content on

Roentgen performed many tests, including his colleagues discoveries, which involved painting the
plates with a barium compound. When the plates were held in front of an object, Roentgen was
able to see through whatever he was holding up. Inevitably, he was astonished by this discovery
and immediately suspected that he had gone mad. As readers now, one finds his reaction to the first
traces of x ray quite humorous. In fact, this tale is certainly one where the ending is not
detrimental, and in contrary the happy opposite. Essentially, Kean focuses on the idea that these
certain elements mentioned in the chapter affected the lives of these mad scientists immensely. For
the most part, these elements hurt the careers and lives of some scientists, however this was not
the case in all of the stories in this chapter. The examples of selenium crazed Crookes, the false
hype of the manganese covered megadaltons, the palladium scandal of Pons and Fleischmann and
the startling discovery of the x ray by Roentgen successfully conveyed the central theme and
concepts. It is very easy for someone to understand the context filled stories and how they connect
to what Kean is trying to establish. Additionally, the author generally maintains a balanced bias
throughout the chapter. However, with the story of Pons and Fleischmann, one can really sense
Kean s negative attitude to these two scientists. He describes the pair as impostors, swindlers, and
cheats (263) as well as

Philosophy Of Baptism Research Paper
Teaching
The Catholic church teaches that Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to
life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Baptism not only
purifies from all sins, but also makes the non believer a new creature, an adopted son of God, who
has become a partaker of the divine nature, member of Christ and co heir with him, and a temple of
the Holy Spirit. (CC:1265) Christ has ordained that Baptism should have the power of removing all
punishment for sin including Original Sin as well as any and all sins that may have been committed
by the person being baptized. This includes eternal punishment, as well as any temporal punishment

The three theological virtues that are infused in Baptism are faith, hope, and charity. Baptism is
the ordinary means of their infusion. Baptism then, puts into the soul a power to believe in the
word of God revealing, a power to hope in the promise of God proffering to man the vision of
Himself in heaven, and a power to love God above all things as a child loves its father, for in
Baptism we are made adopted children of God and heirs of heaven.
4.)Conferral of the right to special sacramental grace
By virtue of Baptism we are not only delivered from the greatest of all evils, but are also enriched
with invaluable goods and blessings
Baptism enables the baptised person to cope with suffering in this life, to resist sinful tendencies,
and to grow in holiness and live well the Christian life
Through Baptism our souls are replenished with divine grace, by which we are rendered just and

Suburban Sitcoms In The 60 s
Suburban sitcoms coming out in the late 50 s early 60 s portrayed usually an average family
with average problems it solves by the end of the episode, most sitcoms including Leave It To
Beaver followed the same formula; two white parents, a mother, and father, and 2 3 children;
every episode followed the same steps, there s a problem, the problem is solved by the end of
the episode, and a lesson is learned by the main character. This held up perfectly in the 50 s and
60 s society, but sitcoms needed to adapt to fit their society, as time progressed, more important

The simple coins used to identify and categorize farming goods gave rise to the practice of
pressing coins into the clay tablets to make a like image of the coins in the form of raised
symbols on the clay; the coins used to identify farming and manufacturing goods were then used
to create a new format to be drawn on the clay tablets with a tool called a stylus. The marks left
on the clay by using the stylus had a wedge shaped appearance which is how these images
received the name of cuneiform meaning wedge writing. The earliest known implementation of
cuneiform to symbolize sounds produced by the Sumerian tongue show up on pieces of clay that
are estimated to have been produced around the time of 3100BC. These tablets were discovered
around a city called Jemdet, in ancient Nasr which is located in the same area where Iraq resides
today. The steps towards a complete writing system of the Sumerian languagemost likely developed
around 400 to 900 years after the introduction of the cuneiform tablets mentioned above, this
process entails the transition of using these images as a representation of sounds that the Sumerian
language creates instead of actual visual representations of the objects that they are in reference of

A main part of this project is the construction of the Kandadji Dam on the Niger River, which will
require the involuntary displacement of people living in the dam s footprint. Dam construction
has been delayed but investment in the area and services for the local population are already
shrinking, making it harder for the local affected population to maintain their standard of living.
But as dam construction has not yet started many residents are not entitled to any assistance or

second and third order effects projects will have on the local area and lack of follow through on

Loneliness In The Painting Nighthawks By Edward Hopper
Artists often paint on a clean white canvas turning it into a work of art that often portrays their

Edward Hoppers illustrates a sense of loneliness in the painting by his use of lighting, missed
opportunities, and a non inviting use of color despite, something darker and considerably more
lonely, in a word, something more modern, haunts the shadows. The nighttime scene, on a
desolate street intersection, allows the viewer to glimpse inside the Phillies Five Cent Cigar

The Codes Of Ethics In The Code Of Engineering Ethics

Unrealistic Perception Of Women In Sandra Cisneros s...
Sandra Cisneros addresses poverty and unrealistic expectations of women through the lens of
adolescent girls, using their youthful perception of a Barbie Doll. Through Barbie s image of
ideal beauty, Cisneros foregrounds the struggles that women, especially those in poverty, face in
their attempts to amount to the unrealistic standards of female beauty. Cisneros s main argument
through her short story Barbie Q is that it is impossible to expect women to meet this manifest of
beauty, and somewhere along the way of escaping and covering their imperfections they become
damaged. Barbie herself is the quintessential model of female beauty; however, she represents
both the oppression and liberation of women. She is a jack of all trades encouraging children,
especially females, to pursue whatever profession they wish. Romo states that what comes to mind
when we think of Barbie is white, physically appealing, not poor, heterosexual, popular,
fashionable, and forever young. In sum. Barbie has come to represent the ideals and values of the
social class that dominates our society. (Romo 127). Barbie portrays women as objects of beauty,
not of power. Cisneros piece is unique because she counters the idea that women must be perfect. In
fact, she raises the idea that they are quite the opposite, the idea that everyone has hidden
imperfections. Cisneros seems disgruntled with the perfectionist image that Barbie s manufacturers
have bolstered. Through her piece s creative title,

humans possess a savage nature that may or may not completely alter their personality. Some
individuals have the strength to withstand their savagetemptations and obey their morals. Although
others may be consumed by their innate humannature, causing them to descend rapidly into

  • 3. The Secession Crisis Of 1860-1861 Between 1846 and 1861, many events had impacts on the United States that lead up to the secession crisis of 1860 1861. Slavery had great impacts on the country, such as the economic effect of the South overestimating its importance due to the prevalence of slave grown cotton. Westward expansion had the social effect of the citizens of territories wanting statehood to get into arguments and civil wars due to popular sovereignty. States rights had the political effect of the southern states believing that since they agreed to become part of the United States, they could just as easily leave the country. Without a doubt, the social, economic, and political effects of slavery, westward expansion, and states rights lead to the secession crisis of 1860 1861, with the political effects being seen the greatest. Slavery had major economic and social effects that lead up to the secession crisis of 1860 1861. Slavery had the largest effect on the secession crisis, as compared to westward expansion and states rights. Slavery had the largest effect on the secession crisis because economically, it made the South overestimate its importance. With large number of slaves working on plantations, the plantations could produce a lot of goods to send to the North. One major export from the South to the North was cotton. Since the North was heavily reliant on Southern cotton, the South believed that if they would secede they would cripple the North s economy, making the North more likely to ... • 5. The Right Pressure Cooker For Your Home There are many important factors to consider when you are looking for the right pressure cooker for your home. Whether you are a beginner to pressure cookers or have used them for years, there are still many different functions and features to look for when you start your search. Quality Materials Stainless Steel It doesn t really matter how many new and improved features a pressure cooker and canner may have if the unit itself isn t made of quality materials. Many well known cookware companies use the best materials by default, but it is important to check this fact out yourself when you are comparison shopping. A pressure cooker that is made of durable, high quality stainless steelis the best type to look for. Check the bottom stamp or the label to see whether or not the product is 18 /10 Stainless Steel , which means it has a composition of 10% nickel and 18% chromium. A stainless steel product has to have at least 10.5% chromium in order for it to label itself as stainless. More chromium will add to the strength of the model, as well. Nickel helps to increase the protective layers and also adds a shine to the appliance. Pressure cookers use heavy stainless steel in order to keep the units intact under enormous amounts of heat. This is why anything less, like a pressure cooker made from cheap aluminum materials, would not be a good idea to purchase. Additionally, pressure cookers that are made from stainless steel will not stain, are much stronger than aluminum and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Plantation and Race in the Caribbean Essay Plantation and Race in the Caribbean The incredible history of the Caribbean is indeed, one of the most rich, and at the same time troubling, of the New World. Its incredibly heterogeneous population and its social racial base make it a very difficult place to, for instance, live and raise a family. While some children may have a future because of their light complexion, the others are doomed to a life of poverty in the unforgiving culture and society of the Caribbean. Three people have taken it upon themselves to portray the Caribbean in their own ways. The opinions of Sidney Mintz, Michelle Cliff and Antonio Benitez Rojo are made clear in their works and are discussed below in relation to two main issues; race and the ... Clare s mother, Kitty is darker and is the opposite of Boy in her treatment of the darker colored people on the island. She does not talk much when Boy criticizes her people, but near the end of the book both parents make their feelings abundantly clear in their argument over the black woman urinating on the side of the street. Boy says to his family, What are we to do with people like that. (Cliff, 1984, p.130) Kitty retorts, Where do you get this we stuff, white man? (Ibid.) Boy responds with, Come on, Kitty, no matter what you do with them, they ll never be like us. (Ibid., p.131) This is too much for Kitty, who in a rare state of rage yells, Why don t you shut your filthy hateful mouth, you damn cuffy. She s probably pregnant and alone something you would not know about. (Ibid.) With that, Kitty makes him stop the car and so she could give the woman all the money that she had on her. This example illustrates perfectly how the issue of race permeates the everyday lives of the inhabitants of Jamaica, and the rest of the Caribbean for that matter. This is certainly not meant to be an isolated case of racial incident, as is portrayed throughout the rest of the book. Boy s racism is also shown in many other ways, such as by the fact that he wants Clare to marry someone as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Nt1330 Lab 3.1 Fig. 3.1 Fingerprint scanning Minutia points represent positions where friction ridges end abruptly or where a ridge branches into two or many more ridges. A typical good quality fingerprint template contains 20 70 minutiae points; the actual number depends on the size of the finger sensor surface and how the user places his or her finger on the sensor. The system stores the minutiae information position and direction along with the user s demographic information as a template in the enrollment database. During the identification phase, the user puts the finger on the same sensor, generating a new fingerprint image or template called query print. Minutiae points are carried out from the query print, and the matcher module compares the set of query minutia with the stored minutia templates or image in the enrollment database to find the number of similar minutia points. Because of variations present in finger placement and pressure applied to the sensor, the minutia points take out from the template and query fingerprints must be lined up, or submitted before matching. After line up the fingerprints, the matcher decides the number of pairs of matching minutiae two minutiae points that have similar location and directions. This is a perfect example on how we must be on a day to day basis. Always putting the mission before self comfort, to never question or object with whatever order or command you are given. Especially with us being in The United Stated Marine Corps, we should abide by these examples, and help others understand the importance of it as well. Our duty as Marines to complete whatever mission is given to us, regardless of the objectives we may encounter throughout the way. To exceed the expectations they have for us, and to prove that no mission is impossible. One very important standard is to never strive for the bare minimum, but to always do everything to the best of our ability. We should always adapt and overcome in any given situation, and take initiative with good judgments. • 11. How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Othello Othello is a play about suffering; every character in the play has some cruel compounce: not a single being in the play escapes their harsh fate. Fate is the driving force of Othello, This is shown through the ease of deception by Iago, the various religious influences spread throughout. as well as the meta analysis present in most of shakespeare s plays. Deception is used throughout the play by Iago, however it is not the driving force as said by Alyssa Brown. Othellohas the fairly typical theme of deception. Self deception is also a theme (Alyssa Brown, Brown/A/Deception). Deception does not exist in the play. The characters have no freewill and cannot be deceived. This play uses deception wrong according to Shakespeare. Usually, Shakespeare uses deception to a positive end of the players. When used in tragedies, Romeo and Juliet use deception to further their love, although it does ultimately end with their deaths, it ends with the Montague and Capulet families coming together. • 14. IP Address Essay As stated by the website howstuffworks.com (What is an IP address?), An IP address is assigned to every device connected to the Internet. This is a 32 bit protocol, as it consists of 4 binary octets . However they are usually written in decimal form for ease of use. The maximum decimal number allowed by one octet is 255 (or 11111111 in binary). The total number of unique possibilities of 4 octets would therefore be 256^4, roughly 4.3 billion addresses. Demand for IP addresses is increasing due to reasons such as low cost computers, advancement in technology, and improvements in accessibility. Due to all these factors, the number of devices connected to the Internet has increased, therefore the number of available IP addresses has decreased, leading to the situation that IP addresses will run out by 2011. A possible solution to this problem would be for devices to share IP addresses. This can be done by using NAT (Network Address Translation ). NAT sends and receives data back and forth between the computer and the Internet. Multiple computers can use the same NAT, and to the Internet, it will seem as though the data is all coming from one computer, rather than several computers. A particular use of NAT is in routers and modems for home networks. These allow many computers to connect to a LAN (Local Area Network) with their own private IP addresses, but they are all connected to the Internet with a single IP address. The following diagram shows this implementation of NAT. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Media Reflection Paper Today the life revolves around media, it is on people s phones, media decorate their walls, and for some media is their job. Since media is such an inescapable part of the modern landscape it is significant that we as individuals understand how the media works and how it affects us. In this course, the nature of the mediahas been unraveled to reveal the ways that it has impacted society and how it has done this. This class has made me became more critical of the media in my life and now even without thinking I recognize patterns, and in some cases toxic themes in the media I consume. Looking back on this semester and what I have learned I can see that I have become more media literate in many ways, primarily in the areas of awareness and analysis. I have become more aware of the way media is constructed. Some things that have stood out to me since I have started this course is for example the other day when I flew into the ST. Louis airport after Thanksgiving break one of the monitors in baggage claim said that it was CLear Channel TV before this course I do not know what clear channel was and I knew that the entertainment business was an oligopoly but I did not realize the extent. Seeing this was a moment of realization, that what I read was real, this one company has its hands in every pot. I have also noticed how much media means to people, I was speaking to one of my friends and I mentioned that I thought marvel was better that DC and she became very upset at me. It occurred to me that being a DC comics fan was a part of her identity, before I knew that people took entertainment personally but it was not actively looking for it. I have increased my ability to analyze the media I consume, now I am more aware of the way industries target audiences. One of the easiest ways this can be seen is in commercials, advertisers make there for a specific audience, video game commercials are a good example Game of Wart has a woman in its commercials who speaks in an alluring voice and invites audiences to come join her. She is there for the male gaze, men are the desired customers that companies look for, so she is there as a way of saying that this game will make the player feel special and receive the ... Descartes First Meditation Descartes First Meditation Descartes believes that knowledge comes from within the mind, a single indisputable fact to build on that can be gained through individual reflection. While seeking true knowledge, Descartes writes his Six Meditations. In these meditations, Descartes tries to develop a strong foundation, which all knowledge can be built upon. In the First Meditation, Descartes begins developing this foundation through the method of doubt. He casts doubt upon all his previous beliefs, including matters which are not entirely certain and indubitable [and] those which appear to be manifestly false. (Descartes, p.76, par.5) Without a guarantee of reality, maybe all of his previous beliefs are false. Descartes doubts the supreme goodness of a God that would let him be deceived even occasionally. Moreover, if a perfect God does not exist then it becomes probable that Descartes himself is increasingly imperfect and therefore is constantly being misled. If, however, it is contrary to His goodness to have made me such that I constantly deceive myself, it would also appear contrary to His goodness to permit me to be sometimes deceived, and nevertheless I cannot doubt that he does permit this. (Descartes, p.76, par.5) Descartes assumes the scenario that God is really an evil demon . I will suppose therefore that not God, who is supremely good and the source of truth, but rather some malicious demon of the utmost power and cunning has employed all his energies in order to deceive me. After World War II, the winners of the war divided it into two countries. The northern half was ruled by the Soviet Union, while the U.S. took control of the southern half. This new weapon was called the M 20 bazooka or also known as the super bazooka. The super bazooka could fire a larger, 3.5 inch rocket that was capable of penetrating the North Korean armor. This gave the U.S. and the United Nations troops an advantage, although tensions were still created by the North Korean army. Bush invaded Iraq, believing that the country s president Saddam Hussein was using weapons of mass destruction against the people of Iraq. This war started a larger war, named Operation Iraqi Freedom . The consequence of this inessential war were the lives of over 4000 Americans, over 1 trillion dollars in spending, and superfluous tension in the Middle East. Though there are many theories on why Bush invaded Iraq, the one that makes the most sense is overconfidence. Simply put, George W. Bushand his administration had faulty and ambiguous evidence, but their overconfidence and pride lead them to put the war into action anyway. Bea pointed to the congressional testimony, that BP ignored problems with a dead battery, leak cement job and loose hydraulic fittings (Borenstein). In the end, BP faced a lot of criticism and worst of all, the Gulf of Mexico is now perilously polluted with oil. Many people like to believe that pride is something noble, something to treasure, but that is a false truism. Pride will actually bring a person to make false judgments and thinking, which will lead to the falling apart of the general public. Apart from causing fabricated beliefs, hubris will cause individuals to be so confident that they set completely impractical goals. One example is best expressed by Mr. Lee Clarke, who is an author and professor at Rutgers University. Clarke made up an example of unrealistic goals involving British Petroleum s drilling, saying we have been doing this every day, every year, week in, week out, so next week we go to 5000 feet, it will be like last week when we went to 300 feet (Borenstein). Human nature, as one can surmise from antiquated literature, has still not changed in the least we still experience the boons and pitfalls of love, joy, envy, lust and sorrow. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the aforementioned tale, The Knight with the Two Swords, many forces are at work, including magic and brotherly love, but at its close, honor emerges as the primary reason behind the undoing of the double sword wielding Balin. The final message is intriguing: pride s paradoxical traits lead one to glory and avoidable death. Revenge, a perfectly legitimate method of righting wrongs in medieval England, is often a natural avenue to gain recognition and acclaim. Previously a humble knight in the lower ranks, Balin s name becomes better known when his virtue merits an enchanted sword. With this sword, Balin avenges his mother s murder by decapitating the Lady of the Lake (the very sorceress who bestowed Excalibur unto Arthur) in front of Arthur s eyes. Although Balin did this in the name of justice, King Arthur took deep offence and Balin was reduced to travel around the kingdom incognito. Throughout his wandering days, Balin s single goal is to reestablish the respect the king once had for him. The process of doing so ironically leads to a deadly confrontation with a masked knight (Balin s brother in disguise) whom no one has defeated. Naturally, Balin instigates a duel with the notorious knight and his success is also his demise. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Unrealistic Perception Of Women In Sandra Cisneros s... Sandra Cisneros addresses poverty and unrealistic expectations of women through the lens of adolescent girls, using their youthful perception of a Barbie Doll. Through Barbie s image of ideal beauty, Cisneros foregrounds the struggles that women, especially those in poverty, face in their attempts to amount to the unrealistic standards of female beauty. Cisneros s main argument through her short story Barbie Q is that it is impossible to expect women to meet this manifest of beauty, and somewhere along the way of escaping and covering their imperfections they become damaged. Cisneros seems disgruntled with the perfectionist image that Barbie s manufacturers have bolstered. Through her piece s creative title, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
