Christianity in Lars and The Real Girl
Christianity in Lars and The Real Girl When I saw Lars and the Real Girl on the choices of movies for
this project, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about. I really enjoyed this movie and its
uniqueness. This movie has the most unique plot I have ever witnessed in a film. At the end of the
movie, Margo says to Lars, There will never be one like her in reference to Bianca. In reality, there
will never be a movie like this one. What I enjoyed most about this film was it was a Christian film
but wasn t a Christian film. What I mean by that is that it didn t just throw Christianity in your face
while watching it. Nothing about this film seemed fake. It never seemed as if the writer was trying to
tell you one specific message of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the places where this often happens is within a Christian community (Robinson). Lars is going
through a tough time in his life where it would be easy for his church community to call him crazy and
not show him the love of Christ. Another message that was extremely evident in the film was the
healing power of the community. The church community really reached out to Lars and bought into
his fantasy that he was living in. I had a very interesting talk with my mom about this movie after I
told her what it was about and that I was writing a paper about it. She asked me the question, If Jesus
was on Earth, would He buy into Lars s fantasy ? That question really made me think and I had to go
look back at situations in the Bible were God helped those who were consider crazy . I found that
there were several stories in the Bible where God went to extremes to include all of the people He
created, and the church community in this film definitely understood that concept. It s simple, humans
long for love. We, as humans, are built for relationships with other people. Part of the healing process
is the ability to let others help. Lars was broken after the loss of his mother, and without the help of
the church community he would have never found closure in his mother s death. The third message
was the analogy of the persistent love of God. God never gives

20A Preparation of CuCl2~2DMSO
20B Preparation of RuCl2~4DMSO
Abstract In order to synthesize our metal complexes, we were able to make both Copper and
Ruthenium metals. From this, we combined each metal complex with DMSO by refluxing the
compound. The metal complexes were analyzed through their melting point and IR spectroscopy to
determine whether the metal bonded to a Sulfur atom or an Oxygen atom of the DMSO. After
analyzing the IR spectrum, it was determined that S=O shifted to a lower wavenumber in
CuCl2~2DMSO and that S=O shifted to a higher wavenumber in RuCl2~4DMSO.

When analyzing the IR spectrum of Ruthenium complex with DMSO, the prominent peak is presented
at 1105.54 cm−1. This peak indicates that S=O bonded in DMSO. For DMSO, the frequency is around
1050 cm−1. From our spectra obtained for DMSO where the S=O peak is at 1017.65 cm−1. Since the
bond appears at a higher frequency, this shows that the bond is strengthened by the reaction. This
indicates that when the copper metal was combined with DMSO, it bonded with the Sulfur atom.
Combining ruthenium with sulfur atom caused it to donate a pi electron as a back donation.
Conclusions From both experiments, we were able to detect which Sulfur and Oxygen atom bonded to
the metal. Copper metal was added to DMSO to bond with the oxygen by weakening the S=O
therefore lowering the IR spectrum. As for Ruthenium metal, it was added to DMSO to bond with the
sulfur compound, strengthening the S=O therefore increasing the IR spectrum. Based on the IR
spectrums and melting points, my product for both metal were pure. References

Spiritual condition evaluation
Throughout the life of my person of interest, knowledge of the existence of a creator has had a
crippling effect in his struggle to reconcile his perception of life and the great desire for divine
approval and acceptance. This is a result of the common belief that moral and spiritual development is
attained through the shedding of dogmatic belief structures, resulting in the elimination of God
towards the attainment of self realization.
Strangely, although the secular aspect is quite vividly seen in his way of life, the religious references
and biblical allusions cannot be ignored. Despite the lack of cultivation and learning in the morals and
ethics of Christianity, he is able to form his own code of behavior based on example and the behavior
he views from others. It should be noted that his instinctive sense of morality comes without
knowledge of God or a creator and while this may seem to be an atheistic or at least secular way of
thinking about how morality is inborn it is impossible to ignore the way the Bible and religious
learning influence even this aspect of his life.
It would seem that he views other people as closer to God, not simply because of his own isolation,
but because he witnesses their apparent ability to function in a world of God. This is seen on his act of
acquiring a sense of morality through observation of behaviors of others
It is evident

A Laboratory Small Auxiliary Power Unit ( Apu ) Engine...
1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Assessment aims
The aim of the current work lies in accomplishing a laboratory small Auxiliary Power Unit (APU)
engine practice, including the collection of the test data and achieving an engine performance
simulation and diagnostic analysis.
To carry out the analysis, it is necessary to develop the engine model and taking into account the
measurements from the test in order to derive a coherent model.
1.2 Engine description
An APU is a small gas turbine engine that provides secondary power to the airplane. This power is
used to start the main propulsion engines and provide pressurized air for aircraft environmental
control systems, electrical power for lighting, avionics and galleys on the ground and backup and
emergency power in flight. [1]
The APU investigated, GTCP30 92, consists of the following systems and assemblies:
Gearbox
Enclosing housing assembly incorporates an integral oil tank sump.
Housing assembly, supporting the assembly bearing carrier and incorporates cast fins for cooling.
Single stage centrifugal compressor
Single stage turbine
Torsion shaft which connects the compressor turbine shaft to the gear train.
Intake and an inlet screen before the compressor.
Single combustion tube.

Summary Of Benito Cardozo
Benito Cardozo contacted me about 10:00 am this morning and said he would bring his uniforms and
equipment to 1900 Main about 10:30 am. I met Cardozo around 10:30 am this morning on the side of
1900 Main and received his uniforms and equipment from him. As you are aware, I was recently
instructed to assign 2 Investigators in plain clothes to every Metro committee meeting and board
meeting until further notice. As before, I still have no idea why we were tasked with sending plain
clothes officers to committee meetings much less 2 Investigators, but I followed the instructions. It
appears that these additional assignments are detrimental to the follow up Investigations we conduct
of criminal incidents that are occurring on the Metro system.

Racism In The Grandmother
In this short story a family of six plus a cat are going on vacation. The grandmother wanted to go to
Tennessee but everyone else wanted to go to Florida. Driving in the car on a very long drive to Florida
they stopped and seen many things that the Grandmother recalled in her head. This is why the whole
family ended up in a serious situation. The grandmother is mysterious old woman, who is racist, not
smart, and much conceded that caused a problem along the way.
Growing up in the early 1950 s people were know to be racist but grandmother took it too far with her
comments. Driving down the road with the family and the grandma makes a racist comment, Oh look

The grandmother wanted to make sure if she died, people would recognize her. All the family was
dressed in t shirts and pants for the car ride to Florida but the grandmother had on a navy blue straw
sailor hat with a bunch of white violets on the brim and a navy blue dress with a small white dot in the
print. Her collars and cuffs were white organdy trimmed with lace and at her neckline she had pinned
a purple spray of cloth violets containing a sachet (368). This just shows that the grandmother cares
about her appearance and what others think about her. It almost makes it seems like she planned this
whole thing in her head. When she was having a conversation with the misfit she asked, You wouldn t
shoot a lady, would you? (373). The grandmother seems like she only cares for safety right now and
not anyone else s. As the grandmother, she should be trying to protect her family instead she s
protecting her own life. The grandmother got her own family in a terrible situation because of one bad
memory. She probably did feel really guilty about the situation but what else could she of done? The
moral of the story sometimes it takes a tragic thing to happen to find out who someone really is. The
family never made it out of the crash

A leopard will kill its prey with one swift bite to the neck, breaking it. The largest of the leopards is
about five feet in length, with its tail adding another 3 feet and over 200 pounds. It can range from a
dark golden to a light cream color. There are also melanistic coats, which are all black, sometimes
called Black Panthers. All leopards have the dark rosette pattern, spots on their coats, although they
are not visible on the black coats. The males are generally 20 to 40 percent larger than the females. On
average, each liter will produce two cubs, each weighing only one and a half to two pounds. The cubs
remain with their mother for 18 to 24 months. There are over 20 subspecies in the leopard group and
each one is slightly different than the others. They are excellent climbers and can drag prey that is
three times their weight up into a tree to keep it safe from scavengers and other hunters. They are often
found hunting nocturnally, and hiding in the brush during the hot afternoons. They can hunt in places
with nearly no light because of their circular pupil which is capable of vast dilation. They also have a
superb sense of smell and the ability to detect movement.People usually think of leopards in the
savannas of Africa but in the Russian Far East, a rare subspecies has adapted to life in th e temperate
forests that make up the northern most part of the species range. Similar to other leopards,

Good Order And Accountability
The importance of Good order and discipline and personnel accountability. Having good order and
discipline is important in any aspect of the United States Army, because it shows you hold the
standards of the unit you are assigned to at great heights. Good order and discipline in my opinion is a
responsibility of the individual soldier and it shows that the soldier takes responsibility upon himself
without having to be told or shown. It shows that the soldier has the mindset that is most beneficial to
the overall readiness and ability of the unit to accomplish its mission. Good order portrays that the

Project Of Moral Perfection Benjamin Franklin
Franklin s ideas expressed through the Project of Moral Perfection supports the views of reason and
self improvement that s connected to the Enlightenment, for one of Benjamin Franklin s main points
includes self efficacy. Enlightenment intellectuals believed that rational thought could lead to human
improvement and was the most valid mode of thinking. They also saw the ability to reason as the most
valuable human capacity as well. For, reason could help humans break free from ignorance and
irrationality, and learning to think reasonably could teach one to act better. In his autobiography,
Franklin does exactly this by aiming to become a better person, morally. He planned to achieve moral

Reliability and Validity
Reliability and Validity Dede Kendrick BSHS/382 January 16, 2012 Angela Heads Reliability and
Validity Evaluating human services is a task that can be very complex. People can have different
interpretations of the same event. Another concern is that people are not always honest. Therefore,
human services will gain from effective, high quality evaluations of data collection methods. This
requires that the data collection methods supply accurate and dependable information. This paper will

When multiple people are given assessments of some kind or are the subjects of some test, then
similar people under the same circumstances should lead to scores that are similar or duplicates (
Types Of Reliability , 2011). This is the idea of inter rater reliability. Another mode of reliability is the
administration of the same test among different participants and expecting the same or similar results (
Types Of Reliability , 2011). This is known as Test retest reliability. This method of measurement
might be used to make determinations about the effectiveness of a school exam or personality test (
Types Of Reliability , 2011). Surveys and other methods of research present the appropriate avenues
for data collection. Data collection and measurement methods are used in human services to help
organizations achieve leadership capacity and to achieve high performance outcomes. Agencies that
track the effectiveness of their services through field studies and surveys will have a record of
techniques that have worked best to fulfill mission goals. The evidence of such reported facts will
come in handy in terms of funding, policy efforts, and keeping professionals educated. From
psychological and behavioral aspects, interviews, test groups, and random assignment are just a few
ways to collect data in controlled and uncontrolled environments. Human services use these methods
to apply theory to real life situations. Human services depends on the effective analysis

Rebirth Is A Sci Fi Thriller
REBIRTH is a sci fi thriller that offers a visionary and cautionary new world. The script nicely poses
the question about the advancement of technology and medicine. The hero questions the morality of
living life with out defects or the need to procreate. It s a compelling question to examine.
The idea of searching for a new planet has merit. The idea of finding an abandoned spacecraft and
trying to put the pieces together of what happened to the ship also is engaging. There s a ticking clock
tension to get home or to get to the new planet.
The script is driven by the theme of second chances. It also examines the man vs. machine premise.
Ironically, due to social engineering, the humans have become more robot like, suppressing their
emotions, while the android featured in the script, is almost more human than the real humans. It s a
clever contradiction.
While the script has definite strengths, the overall script would benefit from more development to
build upon those strengths.
One area that would benefit from more development is the structure and pace. It s crucial to
immediately engage and grab the audience, especially in the first ten pages. The current first ten pages
of the script feels slow. It introduces the characters, but nothing exciting happens to immediately draw
the audience into the plot. It s not until around pages 16 or 17 that they find the planet and this perks
our interest.
The fire is the major inciting event that traps the crew in a strong dilemma.

WWE NO MERCY 2017 TOP MATCHES AND RESULTS
With the WWE pay per view No Mercy looming around the corner, the wresting world has been given
a few very good matches. WWE Summersalm 2017 was more or less a mediocre pay per view with
the spotlight being more on whether Brock Lesnar was leaving the WWE. It has been rumored for
some time that Brock Lesnar is going to face Jon Johns in an UFC match. But WWE managed to keep
the universe to the edge of their seats, with Brock retaining the title against Samoa Joe, Braun

decimated The Big Show. It is highly unlikely that WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will lose
the title just yet. He cannot return to UFC until he gets tested by USADA (United States Anti Doping

which he might win in WrestleMania.
One of the biggest matches in WWE No Mercy 2017 will be the Women s Championship. The title

Deontological Libertarianism
I. Topic: Libertarianism
II. Definition: Libertarianism is a political philosophy that affirms the rights of individuals to liberty
(Vallentyne van der Vossen, 2014). The basic idea is the individual is in the best position to know what
is best for him or her and should be allowed to make choices without undue outside interference. Each
person has to decide what is in his or her best interest, and the government should not interfere with
personal decisions, especially when it comes to redistribution of wealth and rights (Gibson, 2014, p.
113).
a. Description: Libertarianism is a belief sometimes termed pure justice. It is a system providing open
opportunities to all assuming that any resulting distribution will necessarily be fair (Gibson, 2014, p.

a. Evidence: Subjective and Objective Responsibilities as a Public Administrator
i. Objective responsibility involves two dimensions: accountability and imposed obligation. It involves
responsibility to someone or come collective body and responsibility for certain tasks, subordinate

Dilantin Synthesis Lab Report
Abstract Dilantin is an antiepileptic drug by acting on the nervous system and this lab synthesized
pure Dilantin through a multistep process. The first step involves using the coenzyme, thiamine, as a
catalyst to synthesize benzoin. Benzoin is oxidized to benzil using NH4NO3 to regenerate amounts of
cupric acetate, followed by reaction with urea in a base to yield Dilantin. Experimental physical
properties and spectral data were analyzed to show relatively pure Dilantin synthesized. Introduction:

For benzil, the IR has sp3 C H, C=O and C=C aromatic stretch (Table 1) that correspond to the

as shown by the TLC. Furthermore, recrystallization should be performed after each synthetic step as
to remove impurities and potential side products that may

Essay On Computer Advantages And Disadvantages
When building a computer, there will be some challenges you might have to face in gathering
information, assembling a computer, and supporting the system after assembly. While on the other
hand, it can be difficult to choose what computer you should buy. The difference of buying and
building a computer comes down to personal wants, but there are disadvantages and advantages for
both options.
The challenges you would face when building a computer can sometimes seem overwhelming. As you
are gathering information, you have to make sure that everything is compatible with each other. You
can t go out and buy a motherboard, only to discover that one of your other parts doesn t fit the right
requirements. You also need to spend a good deal of time researching what you want, so to make sure
that things work together. When assembling the computer, you have to worry about being gentle with
your hardware. You have got to make sure that you keep yourself static free as well because if you do
not ground yourself while in the building process, you could cause damage to your components. One
way to avoid this is to not wear wool or rub your socks on the carpet; This helps to prevent a build up
of static electricity, and you could always buy an antistatic wrist strap. By building a computer, you
will have to fix the problem if anything goes wrong. This can be a challenge since you have different
components from different companies. If you don t know what you re doing, you will have to pay for
those damages; You can t get much help from one company to try to repair your computer either.
Another challenge you face in building a computer, is that you have control over what goes into the
computer. This can be a challenge since there is such a large variety of components to choose from,
with prices being different, and the parts having different performances. At the same time, this just
adds to the idea of full customization for the customer. So the 3 big cons are; You are responsible for
fixing a damaged part, You have to make sure everything is compatible with each other, and it could
be sometimes possible you will have to spend more money to get the things that you want
performance wise. The 3 big pros are; You get full

Symbolism In Parker s Back By Flannery OConnor
In Parker s Back by Flannery O Connor, the protagonist, Parker, deals with an internal struggle with
religion. Throughout the story, Parker controls his mixed feelings by getting tattoos. Parker openly
refuses God, but agrees to marry a religious woman and gets a religious tattoo. How does the author
use symbolism to add significance the Parker s actions? O Connor portrays Parker s changing
relationship with religion by adding symbolism to the most important aspects of his life.
From a young age the protagonist, Obadiah Elihue Parker, despised religion and finds comfort in
tattoos. It starts of as a small act of rebellion to becoming a release for all the religion that surrounds
him. After Parker sees a tattooed man, the story says, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parker is named after a religious figure and for that reason he refused to reveal his name to anyone
besides the government and his wife. In Parker s Back , O Connor writes, He had never revealed the
name to any man or woman, only to the files of the navy and the government, and it was on his
baptismal record which he got at the age of a month (). Parker wants no association with religion and
refused to reveal his name unless it is mandatory or has no control over the matter. This symbolizes
Parker s need to reject any affiliation with religion. Near the end of the story the symbolism changes.
Parker openly uses his name when he wants to show his wife the tattoo of God. Parker says, Obadiah,
he whispered and all at once he felt the light pouring through him, turning his spider web soul into a
perfect arabesque of colors, a garden of trees and birds and beasts (). Saying his name opens a new
way of seeing the world for him. He accepts his religious name, which symbolizes Parker welcoming
religion into his life.
The big turning point in the story is when Parker crashes and burns the tractor. The fire symbolizes the
beginning of his new life with religion. Before Parker burns the tractor, the story says, The old woman
he worked for told him that if he couldn t keep his mind on what he was doing, she knew where she
could find a fourteen year old colored boy who could (). Parker is warned to pay attention, but he is so

The Importance Of Sanitation In Armall
Lack of solid waste collection and poor drainage combined with lack of safe pit latrines brings up poor
hygiene conditions in Armall. Therefore, the inadequate sanitation and hygiene practices in Armall
resulted in morbidity and mortality due to endemic infections, which cause diarrhoea and other
illnesses. Sanitation in Armall was severely neglected by both the service utility and the households
because some people in Armall were using open defecation, others used plastic bags as toilets and
others did the defecation in streets. Lack of water and sanitation in Armall has a serious effect on the
people s health, which has also created poverty to most households. As a nation, what should be born

Gsm ( Global System For Mobile Communication
Acknowledgement
At first I want to express gratitude to the Almighty Allah for his endless kindness to give me the
chance to work under tremendous supervision of my honorable teacher Dr. Arshad M. Chowdhury to
give me the opportunity to work on an enormous task.
Objective:
GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile telephony system which is
TDMA based wireless network technology developed widely in Europe and other parts of the world.
GSM uses a variation of time division multiple access (TDMA) and is the most widely used of the
three digital wireless telephony technologies (TDMA, GSM, and CDMA). GSM digitizes and
compresses data, then sends it down a channel with two other streams of user data, each in its own
time slot.
GSM phones make use of a SIM card to identify the user s account. The use of the SIM card allows
GSM network users to quickly move their phone number from one GSM phone to another by simply
moving the SIM card. Currently GSM networks operate on the 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, and
1900MHz frequency bands. Devices that support all four bands are called quad band, with those that
support 3 or 2 bands called tri band and dual band, respectively. In the United States, Cingular
operates on the 850 and 1900MHz bands, while T Mobile operates only on the 1900MHz band.
GSM security:
Security is the degree of protection against damages, danger, loss and crime. In our days, the need for
security makes many people look for different ways in

Essay On Better Glass Edu
There are several projects for this research opportunity. I am part of a project called Better Glass Edu ,
a project specifically for the first year researchers to get acclimated to the terms of and usage of a
neural network using machine learning algorithms. Before going in depth into the research topic we
must first understand what Machine learning is. Machine learning is an application of artificial
intelligence that Provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience. It
focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it learn for themselves.

Random forests are an ensemble of Decision Trees. This algorithm trains multiple decision trees and
has them vote on the final output of the model. Pros of this algorithms are that it is very unlikely to
overfit. In order for overfitting to occur, a majority of classifiers would have to misclassify an
instance, a majority of weights would have to be incorrect in regression. The basic idea behind a
neural network(similar to a human brain) is to copy, in a simplified but reasonably way, lots of densely
interconnected brain cells inside a computer so you can get it to learn things, recognize patterns, and
make decisions in a humanlike way. The amazing thing about a neural network is that you don t have
to program it to learn explicitly: it learns all by itself, just like a brain!
But it isn t a brain. It s important to note that neural networks are (generally) software simulations:
they re made by programming very ordinary computers, working in a very traditional fashion with
their ordinary transistors and serially connected logic gates, to behave as though they re built from
billions of highly interconnected brain cells working in parallel. Computer simulations are just
collections of algebraic variables and mathematical equations linking them together. They mean
nothing whatsoever to the computers they run inside only to the people who program them, so there is
no threat of the

Have you ever suffered or known anyone that has suffered from attention deficit disorder? A.D.D. is a
biologically based condition causing a persistent pattern of difficulties, which includes three types of
behavior. These three types are difficulty attending or focusing on a specific task, difficulty inhibiting
behavior, and difficulty controlling impulses. In 1950 the prescription drug Ritalin was patented and

colleges. Some kids in middle school diagnosed with ADHD/ADD visited the nurse s office to have
their prescription stimulants distributed to them every four hours. Other kids, according to Boston
Globe s Patricia Wen, were stopping at bathrooms or hallways where the same pills are sold through
an illicit black market anywhere from 1 dollars to 3 dollars a pill (1).
Besides in school street marketing of the drug, Ritalin has caused a controversy over the real

One way of obtaining this particular drug is through friends or roommates who acquire it to fight their
dwindling attention span. Once the Ritalin is in the abuser s possession, it is crushed up and snorted

Dissonance In Music
When listening to music, some people experience a strong emotional reaction towards it with
something that can be described as a tingling sensation running through the body (a.k.a.: chills ).
These chills are very distinct and clear, so they can be used in a scientific study involving music. In
previous studies, researchers have found that there is activity in certain regions of the brain which
relate to feelings caused by music that sounds jarring, or clashing tones of music. In the past, these
regions of the brain have been found to relate to emotion. However, the regions of the brain related to
musical dissonance were different when compared to the neocortical parts of the brain (which are

The Bubonic Renaissance And The Renaissance
The Renaissance was a crucial part of the change from the hierarchy and social order that dominated
The Dark Ages to the social mobility that developed when the Early Modern Period began. Due to a
myriad of factors, such as the Bubonic plague, which had devastating effects on the population during
the Late Middle Ages. This combined with the nobility s need for peasant labor resulted in common
people demanding higher wages and increasing the prices of their products. Likewise, skilled workers
could charge more money, since they no longer had as much competition (Perry 189). As a result, the
common people were able to engage in social and economic development, which lead to spiritual
advancement. These changes were reflected throughout Renaissance literature, such as Hamlet by
Shakespeare, Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola s Oration on the Dignity of Man, and The Prince by
Niccolo Machiavelli, as well as religious works such as the The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri,
The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, and The 95 Theses by Martin
Luther. These works represent the development of a new social structure that occured in conjunction
with the increase learning during the Renaissance. Throughout the Middle Ages, the common people
were seen as inferior, inheriting their low social status and lacking any opportunity to advance in
society. When the Bubonic plague ravaged the common population and the Renaissance movement
took hold of Europe, there was

The United States employs a worldwide taxation system accompanied by a complex system of foreign
tax credits. So What the U.S Tax? The United States taxes the worldwide income of its citizens (both
resident and non resident). Accordingly, there is a system of foreign tax credits a partial credit system
that aims to avoid double taxation (Desai, 2005). How the U.S Tax? The FTC system in the US
allocates some expenses, such as interest payments and R D expenses, based on measures of
worldwide activity. Other parts of the tax code apply ratios depending on the circumstances, such as
the allocations for export income 863(b) of the U.S Tax Code. When to Tax? Active income of
incorporated affiliates overseas is taxed only when dividends are remitted. Active income excludes
Subpart F income. And where the U.S. tax? For the most part, the U.S. permits worldwide averaging.
Companies are required to segregate income into basket and perform tax credit calculations on each of
the baskets. The U.S. system creates two classes of firms: excess credit firms who foreign tax rate
exceeds the U.S. statutory rate, and deficit credit firms, whose foreign tax rate is less than the U.S rate.
And some incentive effects created by the U.S system apply to both types of firms and other

George Schuyler, Iconoclast in Black No More
George S. Schuyler, according to Mark Gauvreau Judge, was born in Rhode Island in 1985 and died in
1977. Schuyler s mother eventually remarried after the death of her first husband, and the family
moved to Syracuse NY, where Schuyler was taught by her and his stepfather the protestant ethic of
working for whatever he wanted to achieve (Rac(e)ing to the Right xv). Those teachings, along with
learning from his mother to read at an early age, in all likelihood, were the catalyst to his becoming
one of the most well known Aframerican journalists in the United States and one of America s first

Subsequently, as Schuyler s views took a turn to the far right; he was named as one of the few black

McCarthy s anti Communist position and was against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (). Additionally,
Schuyler was mentored in the skill of satire and debate by H.L. Mencken, who became, not only
Schuyler s teacher but his friend (Judge). The Pittsburg Courier is where Schuyler spent forty years,
losing his position after a scathing protest regarding Dr. Martin Luther King s nomination for the
Nobel Peace Prize (Kickler). No one was exempt from Schuyler s scrutiny and criticism, including the
bigoted Ku Klux Klan, the charlatan, Marcus Garvey, the verbose W.E.B. Dubois or the over praised
authors associated with the Harlem Renaissance (Kicker). Jeffrey Ferguson wrote in The Sage of
Sugar Hill that Schuyler looked at himself as a useful irritant. Schuyler, the iconoclast, functioned as a
server of the truth (in his mind) to his readers whom he thought could not ferret it out for themselves.
Using that same point of view Schuyler wrote Black No More, one the first works of African
American science fiction that explored what would happen if all the black people in the U. S. could
become white (7).

Ocean Stratification
The earth, as we know, is and always has been changing. Although we may not be able to feel or even
see such gradual changes, we must try to aid our planet s longevity for future generations. A major
problem that we face is the deterioration of Earth s atmosphere and climate change. Some believe that
the problem could be fixed through geoengineering. Scientists and engineers have proposed many
potential solutions with geoengineering, one being ocean fertilization. This idea suggests filling
regions of the ocean with iron and other various nutrients where little biological production exists.
This would increase phytoplankton activity that would take the carbon down deeper into the ocean.
Ultimately, this could get rid of excess carbon when the phytoplankton die and fall to the ocean floor.
Ocean fertilization, although it may have a few negative effects, could lower the amount of carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere, thus slowing down Earth s natural heating process. Iron is one of the most
important nutrients that are necessary for phytoplankton. This nutrient can be found short in supply
where stratification has occurred in ocean waters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, ocean fertilization seems to be one of the only options us geo engineers have left to try to
stop, or even just slow down human harm on the climate. If a large group of people could come
together behind ocean fertilization, the effort could remove over thousands of tons of carbon dioxide
from our atmosphere. Although there are many experts who believe that this system would actually
cause more damage and add more carbon than the amount it removes, the chances are very slim. The
pros of ocean fertilization heavily outweigh the cons in the situation. The chance that this system
might improve our climate and the overall health of the ocean drastically is a good enough reason to
give it a

Summary Of The Fatal Environment By Richard Slotkin
This painting shows a Native American tribe on a snowy hill. They are watching a train pass by
diagonally below them. The party appears to be travelling somewhere together. Several of the
individuals are horseback riding while the others are walking. It´s looks like they are fleeing from
something, almost as these people are vanishing away from reality. This Trail of Tears that they are
riding/walking on was the the path that displaced North American Indian tribes from their land east of
the Mississippi River to the Indian Territory, the area that later became Oklahoma. The term Trail of
Tears comes from a text that describes the movement of the Cherokee, Muscogee, Seminole,

Slotkin illustrates the emergence by 1890 of a myth that was redefined to help Americans answer the
misperception and conflict of the industrialization and grand extension. In The Fatal Environment,
Richard Slotkin proves in what way the myth of frontier growth and defeat of the Native Americans
helped to validate the progression of Americas final stand as a symbol for whatever Americans feared
might occurred if the frontier were to be closed, and the violent part be allowable to rule the civilized,
Slotkin displays the rise by 1890 of a fable redefined to support Americans answer to the
misunderstanding and contention of industrialization and grand extension.
Sweeney is comparing The Fatal Environment to The Morning of a New Day.
He argues that the reason why Farny s Morning of a New Day attract few imitators is because of the
ambivalent image of the fatal environment within it. The fact that it represents the genocide of the
Native American tribes was the result the dominant bourgeois group s belief in its self proclaimed
manifest destiny to take the West from the Native Americans by military conquest, through
technological and entrepreneurial superiority, or if necessary by outright theft. (Page 141)

Feudalism Vs Capitalism
Feudalism differs from capitalism because there was no imperative to increase productivity. In
capitalism, the pressure of markets forces workers to become more efficient. There is a perpetual
competition between manufacturers for who can best meet the demands of the consumer, so workers
are constantly trying to improve their productivity. As laborers increase productivity, there is
technological advancement. If a worker or a business in a capitalist society fails to be efficient, it will
struggle to subsist because the consumer would accept cheaper deals from more efficient
manufacturers who could afford to offer lower prices. In contrast, there were specific rules, laws, and
customs in feudalism that prevented the demand to increase productivity. Peasants were not driven to

Land was too influential to how much status one had in feudal Europe to be manipulated as a
commodity (p. 46). In capitalism, land is bought and sold for economic profit, and whoever can
manipulate the real estate market the best makes the most money. Money is a major source of power
in capitalism, so one who successfully buys and sells land gains status in a capitalist society. In feudal
Europe, the King granted land to vassals that were the lords of large estates, who granted land to
vassals who were the lords of other estates, and all of the lords granted land to peasants (11/22 Notes).
Peasants pledged an oath of fealty to their lords in exchange for land and military protection. The
amount of status a person had in feudal Europe was measured by the amount of people willing to obey
him (Feudal Europe Quiz), and the subservience of peasants came from a need for land, which only
lords possessed. Therefore, land was the currency of power, and power was not to be manipulated like

Ramayana, where there are many specific instances where dharma plays a key role. The Ramayana
explains the story of Ram in which he works towards fulfilling his dharma and overcoming the
obstacles he faces. Ram is faced with trial by exile, but before that is faced with the dharma of being a
son of a king who does not go back on his words, a warrior, a husband, a brother, and a soon to be
king, Ram successfully finds his way to fulfill his duty towards, his father and wife but inadvertently
performed his duty towards his kingdom and cast. The Ramayana serves as a medium to explain the
impact and the significance of dharma in Hinduism, in which Rama becomes the character to take on
the role of a dharmic man. The essence of the story begins with his father who needs an heir to his
throne. Each of his wives each were granted a son from eating rice that was blessed by god. Among
the sons was Rama and Bharatha, who play a key role in the development of the Ramayana. King
Dasharatha the father of Rama and Bharatha, chooses Rama causing Bharatha s mother Keikeyi to be
infuriated. She uses boons she was granted by Dasharatha while he was sick because Keikeyi nursed
him to health. Keikeyi wished that Rama would depart from Ayodhya and be exiled for fourteen years

The Tension Between The Pages And Real Life
The Tension Between the Pages and Real Life
White is for Witching like many other books has an underlying tone of racial and social issues. These
issues are not only rooted from the location or the events that occurred during the year it was
published but by Helen Oyeyemi s own personal life experiences. She had written the book in a way
that wasn t attacking or intimidating for anyone to read to help spread awareness to an issue that
continues to be a problem today. Helen Oyeyemi Helen Oyeyemi is a Nigerian British novelist and
playwright who got her start in high school, getting ready for her A levels (which are pretty much
SATs for British students). She went to go on and study social and political science at Corpus Christi
College in Cambridge. Her studies most likely had a huge effect on her writing. She had written the
Icarus Girl, Juniper s Whitening and Victimese, White is for Witching, and her latest collection of
stories called What is Not Yours is Not Yours (Webbiography). Each of her plays/ books has a theme
from exploring the pain of living and the difficulty of dying (Juniper s Whitening and Victimese),
themes of ownership and individual agency and boundaries (What is Not Yours is Not Yours),
isolation (Icarus Girl), and Racism and mental/eating disorder (White is for Witching). Her life
experiences were also another heavy influence for the content of her books. In an interview Oyeyemi
stated I was depressed for a long time, ... It was difficult to be

Essay about It s Time To Make Marijuana Legal for...
The issue of legalizing marijuana has been prominent in news headlines recently with Washington and
Colorado s new laws on using marijuana for recreational use. The problems stem from the vast
difference of opinion between those who support the new laws and those who oppose them. The
supporters of legalizing marijuana argue that the police resources that are being used for trying to
prosecute users of marijuana could be better used for violent crimes such as murder and rape.
Supporters also argue that marijuana has far more positive properties than negative ones. Those who
oppose the legalization state that marijuana is a gateway to other more harmful drugs such as
methamphetamine and heroin. They also say that marijuana is a ... Show more content on

Marijuana also does not, in itself, cause people to use hard drugs. Marijuana is the most popular illicit
drug in our nation. Therefore, people who use less popular drugs such as heroin or cocaine are more
likely to have used marijuana as well. The majority of marijuana users never try any other illegal drug
and the vast majority of those who do try other drugs never become addicts or go on to have any other
associated problems (97). The short term effects of marijuana include almost immediate, temporary
changes in thought patterns, perceptions, and data processing. The cognitive process most clearly
affected is your short term memory. In several lab studies, patients under the influence of marijuana
have little to no trouble remembering things they learned before usage, however they displayed little
capacity to learn and remember new information. This lowered rate only lasts for the duration of the
high. There is no conceivable evidence that heavy long term marijuana use may permanently impair
memories or other brain functions (43). There has never in history been a case of a marijuana
overdose. This is most likely because the estimated amount for an overdose is about 70 times more
than what is needed to get high. Marijuana has

Social Stratification And Economic Placement
Each year millions of babies are born into families, not yet knowing what their lives will bring. Babies
are born as male or female, as well as transgendered, bisexual, gay and lesbian. All are born into
different racial and ethnic backgrounds, some of which are White, African, Asian, Hispanic, Chinese
and many more. Born into class or cast systems unknowing of the challenges yet to come and the
stratifications they will face. No matter which factors these babies may be born into, each and every
one will face some sort of stratification and inequality based on their society, and the way they are
raised with in it. Sexual orientation is just one factor of inequality in our culture, and I will discuss
here how it effects job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory looks deeper at a personal level of the way one views their self worth and position in
society (Macionis, 2015).
Social stratification is the way in which our society places people into categories based on certain
principles. Principles such as social position in a society, and class standing. It s based on a hierarchy
of what one has and of inequalities, in addition to beliefs represented with in that society. Social
inequalities stem from what a group of people believes to make themselves different from others and
set apart. These inequalities give certain people more power than others, while setting them off as
being unequal s. We see these inequalities in all aspects of our culture, from wealth and occupation, to
race and gender. Sexual orientation outside of the norm is a large bases of inequality in our culture,
leaving people debating whether to reveal their sexual preferences especially in the work place
(Macionis, 2015, p 246 251). Sexual orientation is a state of mind based on romantic and emotional
attraction to another person. The norm with in our society is heterosexuality, being attracted to the
opposite sex, however, for some this may not be their preference. Sexual orientation can also be seen
as homosexual, bisexual and asexual also known as the lesbian, gay and bisexual community, (LGB).
Sexual orientation becomes a factor with job stratification and the economy when we start talking
about those who fall outside of

O Pioneers By Willa Cather
O Pioneers by Willa Cather follows a group of frontiersmen trying to survive in the harsh conditions
of the untamed west. The story follows the Bergsons, but more descriptively, the main character, a girl
named Alexandra Bergson. Throughout the story, Alexandra grows up to her full potential and we are
able to see her character just as rich and as mesmerizing as Willa hoped to achieve. This is the
character that Willa decides to revolve her story around and makes the reader fully understand who the
novel is truly about. Using this assumption, readers can conclude that O Pioneers derives from Willa s
real life experiences especially when dealing with her love life.
At the very beginning of the novel, Alexandra was given a huge responsibility. With her father passing
away it was up to her to inherit the farm and make it thrive. She was young, but very determined and
in that introspect, she was able to make the farm a huge success. For the time period, this achievement
was very difficult to obtain especially for a woman. This to me, could accurately relate to her own
adolescence. In a letter she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story, there is most definitely a romance between Alexandra and Carl. It says in the book that
she has feelings for him and that she wants to marry him. However when she talks to Oscar and Lou
said marriage, they are not pleased about this and insist that she s making us all look ridiculous (pg
64). In the time period, homosexuality wasn t as widely accepted as it is today and she might have also
thought that she was foolish for feeling that way. At the time she might have wanted to be in a
relationship but refused because of her inner feelings stopping her. However at the end she knows Carl
is the one she loves and says, I should never feel free again. But I do, here. this referring to the grief

The Presence Of Rat Model Of Parkinson s Disease Induced...
The present study was established to show revealed the presence of neurochemical and
histopathological changes in the cerebellum of rat model of Parkinson s disease induced by the
intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This may change the strategy of the disease treatment that depends
mainly on the restoration of dopamine levels in the basal ganglia.
The present findings showed the development of hyperexcitability in the cerebellum of rat model of
PD induced by intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This was indicated from the significant increase in
the excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters; glutamate and aspartate and the significant decrease in
the inhibitory amino acids; GABA, glycine and taurine. These neurotransmitters are involved in many
functions such as motor behavior, cognition, and emotion (Ottersen and Storm Mathisen, 1986,
Schmidt et al., 1992)1,2. The balance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission is
important for brain to sustain proper neuronal function (Mel et al., 2004)[1]. Perturbation in
glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmission is associated with several neurological and
psychiatric disorders (Sanacora et al., 2004) (3) [glutamate gaba balance 1].
Functional neuroimaging study using PET or blood oxygen level dependent functional MRI frequently
demonstrated increased activation in the cerebellum in patients with PD during performance of
various upper limb movements (Rascol et al., 1997; Catalan et al., 1999; Wu and Hallett, 2005; Yu et

  • 2. Christianity in Lars and The Real Girl Christianity in Lars and The Real Girl When I saw Lars and the Real Girl on the choices of movies for this project, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about. I really enjoyed this movie and its uniqueness. This movie has the most unique plot I have ever witnessed in a film. At the end of the movie, Margo says to Lars, There will never be one like her in reference to Bianca. In reality, there will never be a movie like this one. What I enjoyed most about this film was it was a Christian film but wasn t a Christian film. What I mean by that is that it didn t just throw Christianity in your face while watching it. Nothing about this film seemed fake. It never seemed as if the writer was trying to tell you one specific message of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the places where this often happens is within a Christian community (Robinson). Lars is going through a tough time in his life where it would be easy for his church community to call him crazy and not show him the love of Christ. Another message that was extremely evident in the film was the healing power of the community. The church community really reached out to Lars and bought into his fantasy that he was living in. I had a very interesting talk with my mom about this movie after I told her what it was about and that I was writing a paper about it. She asked me the question, If Jesus was on Earth, would He buy into Lars s fantasy ? That question really made me think and I had to go look back at situations in the Bible were God helped those who were consider crazy . I found that there were several stories in the Bible where God went to extremes to include all of the people He created, and the church community in this film definitely understood that concept. It s simple, humans long for love. We, as humans, are built for relationships with other people. Part of the healing process is the ability to let others help. Lars was broken after the loss of his mother, and without the help of the church community he would have never found closure in his mother s death. The third message was the analogy of the persistent love of God. God never gives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Experiment 1 and 2 Korleyfah Mouth Chem 331 Thursday 2:00pm Dr. Lijuan Li 20A Preparation of CuCl2~2DMSO 20B Preparation of RuCl2~4DMSO Abstract In order to synthesize our metal complexes, we were able to make both Copper and Ruthenium metals. From this, we combined each metal complex with DMSO by refluxing the compound. The metal complexes were analyzed through their melting point and IR spectroscopy to determine whether the metal bonded to a Sulfur atom or an Oxygen atom of the DMSO. After analyzing the IR spectrum, it was determined that S=O shifted to a lower wavenumber in CuCl2~2DMSO and that S=O shifted to a higher wavenumber in RuCl2~4DMSO. This peak indicates that S=O bonded in DMSO. For DMSO, the frequency is around 1050 cm−1. From our spectra obtained for DMSO where the S=O peak is at 1017.65 cm−1. Since the bond appears at a higher frequency, this shows that the bond is strengthened by the reaction. This indicates that when the copper metal was combined with DMSO, it bonded with the Sulfur atom.
  • 4. Combining ruthenium with sulfur atom caused it to donate a pi electron as a back donation. Conclusions From both experiments, we were able to detect which Sulfur and Oxygen atom bonded to the metal. Copper metal was added to DMSO to bond with the oxygen by weakening the S=O therefore lowering the IR spectrum. As for Ruthenium metal, it was added to DMSO to bond with the sulfur compound, strengthening the S=O therefore increasing the IR spectrum. Based on the IR spectrums and melting points, my product for both metal were pure. References Boschmann, E; Wollaston, G.J. Chem. Edu. 1982, 59,57 Ebsworth, E. A. V.; Ranking, D.W.H.; Cradock, ... The script nicely poses the question about the advancement of technology and medicine. The hero questions the morality of living life with out defects or the need to procreate. The idea of finding an abandoned spacecraft and trying to put the pieces together of what happened to the ship also is engaging. There s a ticking clock tension to get home or to get to the new planet. The script is driven by the theme of second chances. It also examines the man vs. machine premise. It s a clever contradiction. While the script has definite strengths, the overall script would benefit from more development to build upon those strengths. One area that would benefit from more development is the structure and pace. It s crucial to immediately engage and grab the audience, especially in the first ten pages. The current first ten pages of the script feels slow. It introduces the characters, but nothing exciting happens to immediately draw the audience into the plot. Essay On Computer Advantages And Disadvantages When building a computer, there will be some challenges you might have to face in gathering information, assembling a computer, and supporting the system after assembly. While on the other hand, it can be difficult to choose what computer you should buy. The difference of buying and building a computer comes down to personal wants, but there are disadvantages and advantages for both options. The challenges you would face when building a computer can sometimes seem overwhelming. As you are gathering information, you have to make sure that everything is compatible with each other. You can t go out and buy a motherboard, only to discover that one of your other parts doesn t fit the right requirements. You also need to spend a good deal of time researching what you want, so to make sure that things work together. When assembling the computer, you have to worry about being gentle with your hardware. You have got to make sure that you keep yourself static free as well because if you do not ground yourself while in the building process, you could cause damage to your components. One way to avoid this is to not wear wool or rub your socks on the carpet; This helps to prevent a build up of static electricity, and you could always buy an antistatic wrist strap. By building a computer, you will have to fix the problem if anything goes wrong. This can be a challenge since you have different components from different companies. If you don t know what you re doing, you will have to pay for those damages; You can t get much help from one company to try to repair your computer either. Another challenge you face in building a computer, is that you have control over what goes into the computer. This can be a challenge since there is such a large variety of components to choose from, with prices being different, and the parts having different performances. At the same time, this just adds to the idea of full customization for the customer. So the 3 big cons are; You are responsible for fixing a damaged part, You have to make sure everything is compatible with each other, and it could be sometimes possible you will have to spend more money to get the things that you want performance wise. Throughout the story, Parker controls his mixed feelings by getting tattoos. Parker openly refuses God, but agrees to marry a religious woman and gets a religious tattoo. How does the author use symbolism to add significance the Parker s actions? O Connor portrays Parker s changing relationship with religion by adding symbolism to the most important aspects of his life. In Parker s Back , O Connor writes, He had never revealed the name to any man or woman, only to the files of the navy and the government, and it was on his baptismal record which he got at the age of a month (). Parker wants no association with religion and refused to reveal his name unless it is mandatory or has no control over the matter. This symbolizes Parker s need to reject any affiliation with religion. Near the end of the story the symbolism changes. Parker openly uses his name when he wants to show his wife the tattoo of God. Parker says, Obadiah, he whispered and all at once he felt the light pouring through him, turning his spider web soul into a perfect arabesque of colors, a garden of trees and birds and beasts (). Saying his name opens a new way of seeing the world for him. He accepts his religious name, which symbolizes Parker welcoming religion into his life. The big turning point in the story is when Parker crashes and burns the tractor. The fire symbolizes the beginning of his new life with religion. Gsm ( Global System For Mobile Communication Acknowledgement At first I want to express gratitude to the Almighty Allah for his endless kindness to give me the chance to work under tremendous supervision of my honorable teacher Dr. Arshad M. Chowdhury to give me the opportunity to work on an enormous task. Objective: GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile telephony system which is TDMA based wireless network technology developed widely in Europe and other parts of the world. GSM uses a variation of time division multiple access (TDMA) and is the most widely used of the three digital wireless telephony technologies (TDMA, GSM, and CDMA). GSM digitizes and compresses data, then sends it down a channel with two other streams of user data, each in its own time slot. GSM phones make use of a SIM card to identify the user s account. The use of the SIM card allows GSM network users to quickly move their phone number from one GSM phone to another by simply moving the SIM card. Currently GSM networks operate on the 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, and 1900MHz frequency bands. Devices that support all four bands are called quad band, with those that support 3 or 2 bands called tri band and dual band, respectively. In the United States, Cingular operates on the 850 and 1900MHz bands, while T Mobile operates only on the 1900MHz band. GSM security: Security is the degree of protection against damages, danger, loss and crime. In our days, the need for security makes many people look for different ways in ... The basic idea behind a neural network(similar to a human brain) is to copy, in a simplified but reasonably way, lots of densely interconnected brain cells inside a computer so you can get it to learn things, recognize patterns, and make decisions in a humanlike way. The amazing thing about a neural network is that you don t have to program it to learn explicitly: it learns all by itself, just like a brain! But it isn t a brain. It s important to note that neural networks are (generally) software simulations: they re made by programming very ordinary computers, working in a very traditional fashion with their ordinary transistors and serially connected logic gates, to behave as though they re built from billions of highly interconnected brain cells working in parallel. Computer simulations are just collections of algebraic variables and mathematical equations linking them together. The Bubonic Renaissance And The Renaissance The Renaissance was a crucial part of the change from the hierarchy and social order that dominated The Dark Ages to the social mobility that developed when the Early Modern Period began. Due to a myriad of factors, such as the Bubonic plague, which had devastating effects on the population during the Late Middle Ages. This combined with the nobility s need for peasant labor resulted in common people demanding higher wages and increasing the prices of their products. Likewise, skilled workers could charge more money, since they no longer had as much competition (Perry 189). As a result, the common people were able to engage in social and economic development, which lead to spiritual advancement. These changes were reflected throughout Renaissance literature, such as Hamlet by Shakespeare, Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola s Oration on the Dignity of Man, and The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, as well as religious works such as the The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, and The 95 Theses by Martin Luther. These works represent the development of a new social structure that occured in conjunction with the increase learning during the Renaissance. Although we may not be able to feel or even see such gradual changes, we must try to aid our planet s longevity for future generations. A major problem that we face is the deterioration of Earth s atmosphere and climate change. Some believe that the problem could be fixed through geoengineering. Scientists and engineers have proposed many potential solutions with geoengineering, one being ocean fertilization. This idea suggests filling regions of the ocean with iron and other various nutrients where little biological production exists. This would increase phytoplankton activity that would take the carbon down deeper into the ocean. Ultimately, this could get rid of excess carbon when the phytoplankton die and fall to the ocean floor. Ocean fertilization, although it may have a few negative effects, could lower the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, thus slowing down Earth s natural heating process. Iron is one of the most important nutrients that are necessary for phytoplankton. This nutrient can be found short in supply where stratification has occurred in ocean waters. ... Although there are many experts who believe that this system would actually cause more damage and add more carbon than the amount it removes, the chances are very slim. The Ramayana explains the story of Ram in which he works towards fulfilling his dharma and overcoming the obstacles he faces. Ram is faced with trial by exile, but before that is faced with the dharma of being a son of a king who does not go back on his words, a warrior, a husband, a brother, and a soon to be king, Ram successfully finds his way to fulfill his duty towards, his father and wife but inadvertently performed his duty towards his kingdom and cast. The Ramayana serves as a medium to explain the impact and the significance of dharma in Hinduism, in which Rama becomes the character to take on the role of a dharmic man. The essence of the story begins with his father who needs an heir to his throne. Each of his wives each were granted a son from eating rice that was blessed by god. Among the sons was Rama and Bharatha, who play a key role in the development of the Ramayana. King Dasharatha the father of Rama and Bharatha, chooses Rama causing Bharatha s mother Keikeyi to be infuriated. She uses boons she was granted by Dasharatha while he was sick because Keikeyi nursed him to health. Keikeyi wished that Rama would depart from Ayodhya and be exiled for fourteen years which would be enough time for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Essay about It s Time To Make Marijuana Legal for... The issue of legalizing marijuana has been prominent in news headlines recently with Washington and Colorado s new laws on using marijuana for recreational use. The problems stem from the vast difference of opinion between those who support the new laws and those who oppose them. The supporters of legalizing marijuana argue that the police resources that are being used for trying to prosecute users of marijuana could be better used for violent crimes such as murder and rape. Supporters also argue that marijuana has far more positive properties than negative ones. Those who oppose the legalization state that marijuana is a gateway to other more harmful drugs such as methamphetamine and heroin. They also say that marijuana is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marijuana also does not, in itself, cause people to use hard drugs. Marijuana is the most popular illicit drug in our nation. Therefore, people who use less popular drugs such as heroin or cocaine are more likely to have used marijuana as well. The majority of marijuana users never try any other illegal drug and the vast majority of those who do try other drugs never become addicts or go on to have any other associated problems (97). The short term effects of marijuana include almost immediate, temporary changes in thought patterns, perceptions, and data processing. The cognitive process most clearly affected is your short term memory. In several lab studies, patients under the influence of marijuana have little to no trouble remembering things they learned before usage, however they displayed little capacity to learn and remember new information. This lowered rate only lasts for the duration of the high. There is no conceivable evidence that heavy long term marijuana use may permanently impair memories or other brain functions (43). There has never in history been a case of a marijuana overdose. This is most likely because the estimated amount for an overdose is about 70 times more than what is needed to get high. This theory looks deeper at a personal level of the way one views their self worth and position in society (Macionis, 2015). Social stratification is the way in which our society places people into categories based on certain principles. Principles such as social position in a society, and class standing. It s based on a hierarchy of what one has and of inequalities, in addition to beliefs represented with in that society. Social inequalities stem from what a group of people believes to make themselves different from others and set apart. These inequalities give certain people more power than others, while setting them off as being unequal s. We see these inequalities in all aspects of our culture, from wealth and occupation, to race and gender. Sexual orientation outside of the norm is a large bases of inequality in our culture, leaving people debating whether to reveal their sexual preferences especially in the work place (Macionis, 2015, p 246 251). • 49. O Pioneers By Willa Cather O Pioneers by Willa Cather follows a group of frontiersmen trying to survive in the harsh conditions of the untamed west. The story follows the Bergsons, but more descriptively, the main character, a girl named Alexandra Bergson. Throughout the story, Alexandra grows up to her full potential and we are able to see her character just as rich and as mesmerizing as Willa hoped to achieve. This is the character that Willa decides to revolve her story around and makes the reader fully understand who the novel is truly about. Using this assumption, readers can conclude that O Pioneers derives from Willa s real life experiences especially when dealing with her love life. At the very beginning of the novel, Alexandra was given a huge responsibility. With her father passing away it was up to her to inherit the farm and make it thrive. She was young, but very determined and in that introspect, she was able to make the farm a huge success. For the time period, this achievement was very difficult to obtain especially for a woman. This to me, could accurately relate to her own adolescence. In a letter she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the story, there is most definitely a romance between Alexandra and Carl. • 50. The Presence Of Rat Model Of Parkinson s Disease Induced... The present study was established to show revealed the presence of neurochemical and histopathological changes in the cerebellum of rat model of Parkinson s disease induced by the intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This may change the strategy of the disease treatment that depends mainly on the restoration of dopamine levels in the basal ganglia. The present findings showed the development of hyperexcitability in the cerebellum of rat model of PD induced by intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This was indicated from the significant increase in the excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters; glutamate and aspartate and the significant decrease in the inhibitory amino acids; GABA, glycine and taurine. These neurotransmitters are involved in many functions such as motor behavior, cognition, and emotion (Ottersen and Storm Mathisen, 1986, Schmidt et al., 1992)1,2. The balance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission is important for brain to sustain proper neuronal function (Mel et al., 2004)[1]. Perturbation in glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmission is associated with several neurological and psychiatric disorders (Sanacora et al., 2004) (3) [glutamate gaba balance 1]. Functional neuroimaging study using PET or blood oxygen level dependent functional MRI frequently demonstrated increased activation in the cerebellum in patients with PD during performance of various upper limb movements (Rascol et al., 1997; Catalan et al., 1999; Wu and Hallett, 2005; Yu et ...
