The Stigma Of Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Despite the stigma surrounding embryonic stem cell research, there are many positives that outweigh
the negatives in medical and scientific settings. Due to the knowledge of this, continued funding and
support is critical for the advancement of these therapies and science as a whole. Diseases that can be
aided by unabating financial and moral support are but not limited to, spinal cord injury, heart disease,
parkinson s disease, alzheimer s and Lou Gehrig s disease, more commonly known as ALS. Funding
via the government was passed into law in 2008 by President Barack Obama. As the election comes
upon us it is important to keep in mind that the continued federal funding for embryonic is at stake.
Embryonic stem cells are cells found in the human body that have not yet differentiated, or specialised
meaning that they have not yet received the specific instructions to become a specific cell. They can
be manipulated to turn into any kind of cell, for example, new skin cells for someone with melanoma.
Stem cells are found in the placenta, umbilical blood, fat tissue, bone marrow and mew embryos.
Embryonic stem cells have an advantage over the other sources of stem cells because the cells have
less exposure to the outside world and are relatively easy to access, in situations like in vitro
fertilization.
Scientists and researchers believe they could potentially treat a wide array of human conditions and
diseases, such as spinal cord injury, type one

Reliable Utilization of Family Life Cycle Information to...
Problem Statement Market segmentation methods that reliably utilize information about family life
cycle to ascertain consumers preferences for dining in restaurants have not been established. As a
result, the foodservice industry may well be forgoing substantive opportunities to market to restaurant
patrons and to strengthen the attractiveness of dining out experiences. Indeed, the tourism and
hospitality literature points to a relation between the demographic attributes of families and food
purchases that are made away from home. Evidence of a viable market can be taken from the rate of
growth over several decades: the amount of discretionary money that American families spend on
dining out has increased from 25% of their food budget to 50% in the years spanning 1955 to 2006.
Data Analysis The family life cycle (FLC) conceit provides a method for reflecting the anticipated
variations in purchasing patterns attributed to changes in the needs and capacities of families over the
duration of the family unit life cycle (Lawson, 1988). However, the model has not held up well to sea
changes in the composition, structure, and flux of modern family units (Lin Lehto, 2006). As
recommended by Schaninger and Danko (993), the authors took an approach typical to the
development of target market personas, such that they were able to categorize households in a manner
that maximized between group variance. The resultant modifications collapsed the number of
categories from eight

Research Proposal On The Veil
Research Proposal Muslims and the Veil
Coming the 19th century, a new type of clothing made its way to the Muslim society, this being the
veil. A veil is a piece of more or less transparent material, used to conceal a woman s face and head (
Veil ). After the acceptance of the veil into society, the initial use was to protect women and their
modesty and virtue. However, as time went on, the veil became more of a tool for Muslims to express
their cultural identity. There are multiple different types of veils, or hijabs, including the Khimar,
Chador, Niqāb, and the Burqa ( What is the Hijab and Why do Women Wear it? ). Even though they
are different, they all serve the same purpose of protecting women and their modesty and virtue.
The incorporation of the veil in Muslim society dates back to the 19th century, but has originally
started in the middle east ( What is the Hijab and Why do Women Wear it? ). As a matter of fact, as
religion and culture spread, so did the veil, eventually making its way to Southeast Asia. The veil
started as a way of protection for women, to protect their modesty and virtue. Surprisingly, this belief
goes back to the Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam, which said that women should be modest.
Additionally, this was a universal message, that women should follow these standards ( Muhammad
and Women. ).
The meaning of the veil has changed over time with politics, history, and its significance has never
been static or monolithic (E. Sanders). Like

Hunting Essay
Sport hunting is a violent form of recreation that has left countless animals maimed, and orphaned
animals vulnerable to starvation, exposure, and predation. This activity disrupts natural animal
population dynamics and has contributed to the extinction of animal species all over the world,
including the Tasmanian tiger and the great auk.(1,2)
Although less than 5 percent of the U.S. population hunts, hunting is permitted in many wildlife
refuges, national forests, and state parks and on other public lands3 where almost half of all hunters
slaughter and maim millions of animals every year (by some estimates, poachers kill just as many
animals illegally).(4,5) The vast majority of hunters do not kill for subsistence.(6)

Grizzlies and black bears have been moved hundreds of miles away from their homes. Two were shot
by hunters within two weeks of their relocation, and others have simply returned to their homes.(17)
Wolves have been slaughtered in order to let the moose population rebound and provide a higher
harvest for local hunters. (18) In the early 1990s, a program designed to reduce the wolf population
backfired when snares failed to kill victims quickly, and photos of suffering wolves were viewed by an
outraged public.(19)
Nature Takes Care of Its Own
The delicate balance of ecosystems ensures their own survival if they are left unaltered. Natural
predators help maintain this balance by killing the sickest and weakest individuals. Hunters, however,
kill any animal whose head they would like to hang over the fireplace including large, healthy animals
who are needed to keep the population strong. Elephant poaching is believed to have increased the
number of tuskless animals in Africa, and in Canada, hunting has caused bighorn sheep s horn size to
fall by 25 percent in the last 40 years Nature magazine reports that the effect on the populations
genetics is probably deeper. (20)
Even when unusual natural occurrences cause overpopulation, natural processes work to stabilize the
group. Starvation and disease

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is the collection of physical measurements in a
geographical area. It tracks the spatial average of the sensor measurements in a region. Since it is
highly vulnerable to sensor faults and measurement noise the average operation is not robust. In this
paper the proposed computational efficient method is used to compute a weight average of sensor
measurement. It takes consideration of sensor faults and sensor noise. WSN uses random projections
of sensor to compress data and send the compressed data to the data fusion center. The computation
efficient method uses the data fusion center for direct work with the compressed data stream. The
fusion center performed decompression at the time of computed weighted average. Thus, it reduces
the computational requirements. Hence the proposed method gives better accuracy and more efficient
for the WSN.
Keywords Wireless sensor network, compressive sensing, distributed compressive sensing, fault
tolerance, data fusion, robust averaging.

How Has Technology Influenced The Music Industry
How Technological Advances Influenced the Music Industry
Taking a look back into at the history of America can make one realize just how privileged society is
today. Not long ago, people did not have the luxury of technology. Technology has greatly influenced
the way people learn, communicate, and act, but people are not the only thing that technology has had
an effect on. Throughout American history there have been many technological advancements that
influenced the making, recording, and mobilization of music.
In today s world people listen to music daily, but no one stops to think about how today s music came
to be. From the early 1900s to today the idea of music has been evolving to fit the technology we
have. Before the popularity of music spread, people had to physically play, or go and find a live music

Before music was able to be made, people had to watch live music and go to live shows. Then,
phonographs, more commonly known as record players, were created in 1877 by Thomas Edison,
which allowed people to listen to music at their house (Wilkinson 14 15). Records were created by
vibrations hitting a receiver, a cylinder wrapped in tin foil and a thin membrane, or diaphragm, all
attached to a needle. Sound waves would cause vibrations on the needle, therefore sketching the
waves into the record. When the record was plugged in and the needle ran back over the waves it
would repeat the sounds that created the initial vibrations (Wilkinson 15). Records were only the
beginning of take home music. Soon, technology allowed different machines to pick up radio waves
and play audio live as it was happening. Less than twenty years after the phonographs was made, in

Further, performance measures should be explicitly linked via a strategy map of hypothesized cause
and effect relationships that depict the firm s strategy (Kaplan and Norton 2000; 2004). Improvements
in measures of organizational capabilities are expected to drive improvements in the execution of
internal processes which in turn lead to customer and financial outcomes. In this way, the balanced
scorecard framework explicitly recognizes interrelationships between strategy specific measures of
financial and customer outcomes and inputoriented performance drivers related to the firm s internal
processes and organizational capabilities. However, managers must formulate strategies, and select
related objectives and measures, based on exante expectations about how the strategy will translate
into financial performance. Thus, the strategic objectives and performance measures chosen for an
organization s scorecard are often based on uncertain hypotheses about how measured performance
against these objectives ultimately leads to financial performance. Proponents of the balanced
scorecard concept have long recognized this uncertainty. To mitigate against it, and as a mechanism
for strategic feedback and learning, they have

A Leg Stand On By Oliver Sacks
A Leg to Stand On, by Oliver Sacks, is a book about Sacks himself. Sacks depicts the story of his self
induced disability, and the mental/physical barriers he faced within recovery, and acceptance. Sacks
broke down this process into seven steps: the mountain, becoming a patient, limbo, quickening,
Solvitur Ambulando, convalescence, and understanding. Along with the physical and mental barriers
he faced, there were many macro/micro contextual level issues throughout the book. These issues
included problems with his doctors, with his self identification, and body ego. Sacks grew up as an
athletic individual, his health being a main priority throughout his life. He talks about how he grew up
valuing his physical health more than anything, appreciating what hid body could do and using it to its
fullest advantage. Within his physical training, he trained to climb a mountain called Hardanger Fjord.
While climbing this mountain he expressed how his body was an instrument in which he played and
used to create the music of his physical endurance. When he was reaching the peak of the mountain,
he encountered a sign warning him of dangerous bulls on the mountain. Him thinking he was a
superior being and superior to this warning, he continued his hike despite the warning. Suddenly he
was faced with the danger this deadly bull, frozen in place from his own fear. At first he saw the
beauty within the bull, but when he realizes the danger he is in, the bull became ugly and terrifying.

A mission statement helps guide priorities and decision making. Assessment must be done to
determine the current strengths and weaknesses of the existing collection. Any proposed acquisitions
should be able to address the limits in the existing collection or plug any gaps in the collection. The
acquisition strategy should ensure that objects to be accepted or otherwise acquired for museum
collection shall enhance and reflect the immediate and long term goals of the museum. The focus of
acquisitions should be to address conspicuous weakness in the current collection. At the National
Museum of Singapore, one of the conspicuous weaknesses includes objects which represent the
minority communities in Singapore, hence the need to acquire artefacts that address this gap. The
current collection is insufficient for presenting a balanced and objective narrative on the subject. The
museum will strive to acquire artefacts and specimens that generally are complete and in good
condition, and for which provenance is well documented regarding its history. All potential
acquisitions must be thoroughly researched in regards to their provenance, including proof of

Theme Of Weakness In Macbeth
William Shakespeare s Macbeth, is a play about the triumphs and tribulations of Lord Macbeth on his
path to gaining the crown of Scotland. Of the themes in the play, weakness seems to present itself the
most. Weakness is presented by: Duncan, Lord Macbeth, and Lady Macbeth.
Firstly, the topic of weakness is shown in King Duncan with his over abundance of trust in those close
to him. He is first betrayed by the Thane of Cawdor and second by Lord and Lady Macbeth. King
Duncan vowed to never again be betrayed No more that thane of Cawdor shall deceive (Shakespeare
1:2:64). King Duncan so blindly trusted the Thane of Cawdor and was shocked by his betrayal on the
battlefield thus portraying his weakness. He was later again betrayed by Lord

Exegesis on the Story of the Good Samaritan

Mr.
Luke 10:25 36 The passage of Luke 10:25 36 is an essential story because it applies to every Christian
today the same way, but in order for us to follow the example Jesus made, we must first understand
what the story would have meant to the Jews in Jesus time. The first step in understanding the story of
the Good Samaritan is to understand the relationship between the Jews and the Samaritans of the time.
The Samaritans were considered unclean by the Jews, because they saw the Samaritans as a corruption
of God s chosen people, therefore the Jews were not supposed to make contact with the Samaritans
whatsoever. Not only were the Samaritans considered unclean, the Jews would have seen them as ...

Jesus was instructing the Jews to be an example to the nations by loving all people the way Christ did,
which is why he changed the Jews understood meaning of neighbor, from someone who was
righteous, to all men. The two religious people were unable to do what God wanted from them in the
parable, because they were unable to look past the law for the greater good, unlike the Samaritan, who
was up and ready to help because he was not blinded by obligations that would cause him a slight
disadvantage, because what was important to him was helping the broken man on the road. This
parable is a great example of Christ s love for us, since we are all corrupted with sin, yet he loves us
and is merciful to each of us, although it is not deserved.

loved to examine things beyond face value, and to instead think of what it could be. Growing up,

I would stay up late at night, completely invested in whatever theory enraptured me at the time. I was
insatiable every theory I read was inimitable in its own way, and every piece of evidence supporting or
debunking it only escalated my curiosity and quest for knowledge. In fact, many conspiracies led me
to gain a greater understanding of history in order to truly comprehend and gain a context for what I
was reading. For example, when I learned about the MKUltra Project where the CIA performed mind
control experiments on US citizens in the late 1940s and early 1950s I discovered that the experiments
took place near the beginning of the Cold War as a way to discover new methods of interrogation and
torture. Another theory that seems unlikely but also realistic claims that the CIA created HIV/AIDS in
order to wipe out African American, homosexual men in the 1980s a time when discrimination against
African Americans and homosexual men was still prominent. My interests led me to distant history, as
well such as claims of aliens helping the Egyptians built the Great Pyramids, the possibility that

Burke s Nakedness Of Adam And Eve
Burke identifies a norm of a naked expulsion of Adam and Eve beginning by 1500, which contradicts
the biblical account God made coats of skins and clothed them before forced to leave the Garden of
Eden. According to Burke, until about the early 15th century, all Italian iconography of Adam and Eve
expulsions were fully clothed or with covered genitalia. Afterwards, Adam and Eve were shown to be
fully naked post expulsion from the Garden as seen in Masaccio s infamous Expulsion from Paradise
(1423). Burke s ultimate observation on Adam and Eve s portrayal of nakedness after being expelled
from Eden is that it serves a purpose beyond the fall of man. An array of various classical texts,
Vitruvius On Architecture (c. 15th), Diodorus Library of History (Latin: 1450) and Lucretius s De
Rerum Natura (Bracciolini: 1417) which described early human development as naked, wretched and

Man s nakedness (i.e. Adam and Eve) symbolically represents his essential state (On Literary Polish

craft (Book of Craftsman 1400), to be the first achiever in the entire course of human history.
According to Burke, it serves a functional purpose to portray such nakedness, since it visually
identifies the couple Adam and Eve from other historical figures in the cycles of uomini famosi during
the Quattrocento as well as speaks to the continual potential of man to clothe himself, naturally

The Civil War Of Iran Essay
Historical Background
Throughout the 1980 s, Lebanon was engulfed in a brutal civil war that was waged between the
government and different rebel factions. Hezbollah, a fundamentalist Shia militant group allied with
the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), was one of the major forces fighting against the
Lebanese government. With Ronald Reagan as acting president of the United States, he made an effort
toward stabilizing the Area by sending peacekeeping forces to Beirut. In retaliation to this
involvement, a suicide bomber drove a truck into a military barracks, killing 241 peacekeepers on
October 23, 1983. 21 suspects were detained in suspicion of being involved in the planning of the
attack; Hezbollah, in retaliation, began to kidnap American and western individuals, demanding the
release of these men along with other outrageous concessions. Meanwhile, only a few countries away,
the newly formed Islamic Republic of Iran was at war against its secular neighbor, Iraq. Prior to the
Iranian Revolution, America had close relations with Iran s former leader, Shah Mohammad Reza
Pahlavi, and supplied the regime with American made military equipment. The new Iranians leaders,
however, had begun to exhaust these munitions from its war with Iraq, requiring more weapons and
spare parts in order to effectively thwart the advances by Saddam Hussein s army. The United States
however, had vowed neutrality, stating they would not sell arms to the belligerents of the war. In the

To Kill A Mockingbird Society Analysis
In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses Jem, Scout, and Dill to help the reader view
certain aspects of society in a different way by using social class, being a woman, and racism.
Children are more open minded than adults, so they view the world in a distinct way compared to
them. Most of society is stuck in their ways and are only able to see the world in one perspective,
while the kids are are trying to develop their own view of the world . The kids morals are unlike many
people s in the town, so this gives the reader a different perspective of Maycomb/society.
For instance, one way that Jem helps the reader see a new aspect of society that would not normally be

should be prim and proper. In the text it says I could not possibly hope to be a lady if I wore breeches;

when she has to act like Alexandra s vision of a lady. Aunt Alexandra was always persistent about
Scout being a certain type of lady with a bunch of strict rules, but Scout was not going down without a

She s trying to make you a lady. Can t you take up sewin or somethin ? (232) This hits Scout harder

sometimes it is commendable to be a lady, such as when her father told her and the other women that

The Importance Of Stagflation In The United States
3.) Stagflation Stagflation is a slowdown in the economy, which can include high unemployment and
this is paired up with high levels of inflation. It is significant because the economy is basically stuck.
The middle class also tends to shrink in these periods because people loose the ability to have
spending money. This is somewhat going on now with rising gas and food prices.
5.) Patriot Act The law is intended to help government agencies detect and prevent possible acts of

Why The Price Of Crude Oil
This essay will explain why the price of crude oil has fallen so dramatically. Also, it will analyse the
impact the fall in the price will have on major oil producing nations. Moreover, it will explore the
effect that the fall in price will have on major oil companies and their supply companies. Finally, it
will present how the fall in oil price might affect consumers in the European Union. Crude oil is the
one of the most important natural resource of the industrialised nations, which could generate heat,
drive machinery and fuel vehicles and airplanes (years, someone). Moreover, the crude oil
components are used to manufacture almost all chemical products, such as plastic, detergents, paints
and medicines (years, someone). Also, it plays a significant role in expanding technical ability to
discover new sources and extending the production lives of existing oil fields. Therefore, constant
changes in the price of the crude oil have an impact on a global economy (years, someone). According
to Bolton (2014), the oil price reaches the highest price of almost $150 a barrel in July 2008 and felt in
the second half of 2008 as the global financial crisis started. There are a many reasons why the price
were so high until the first half of 2008. Since 2002, the high demand for fuels in rapidly developing
countries, such as China and India increased. In addition, there was frequent disruptions to supply
crude oil to the global markets, such as political and security situation in

Summary Of Elizabeth Barrett-Browning And Oscar Wilde s...
Welcome back to another episode of Poetry Aloud , today we ll be exploring the tumultuous period
known as the Victorian Era. A time of societal upheaval, poets who were motivated by their negative
experiences of humanity used poetry as a vehicle to change the nature of attitudes in Victorian
England. Within the pantheon of Victorian poets, Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Oscar Wilde
illustrated this changeable nature of Victorian England through attempting to transform the values
contemporary to their time by challenging injustices within their society. As an era of emerging
industrialisation and suppressive puritanical values, Browning and Wilde called for societal and
legislative change through accentuating the suffering experienced by ... Show more content on

Considering that Browning heard the actual cries of the children whom she so poignantly bemoans in
her poem, it is evident that her ballad is rather a cry for the children. Her didactic poem is an articulate
attempt to motivate legislative change for exploited children through challenging the injustices they
experienced from their suppressors, in which she questions if they ask [children] why they stand
weeping sore... in our happy Fatherland? This rhetorical question challenges those that exploit the
young for the sake of their own selfish prosperity through contrasting the misery of exploited children
against the shallow exuberance of industrialised England. Browning further elucidates the abhorrence
of child labour by offering exploited children a voice to reveal their experiences of suppression, in
which she uses direct speech to portray them as commenting that It is good when it happens, say the
children, That we die before our time! Browning protests for change through challenging the
obscenity of child labour, highlighting that death seems to be an alluring alternative to the misery
exploited children experienced as they are crippled by the suppressive machine of industry. Browning
uses poetry as a vehicle to protest for legislative change through challenging the

The University Of Texas At Austin
The University of Texas at Austin claims that it has good justifications for its use of race in the
admittance program. To provide evidence against Fisher s claim of being unable to stand up to strict
scrutiny, the University said that the Court had previously ruled that the UT s limited consideration or
race was necessary and narrowly tailored to UT s compelling interest in achieving student body
diversity ( Brief of Respondents University, 2015). After Fisher s case went to court the first time, the
court was persuades that the need for having race as part of the holistic admittance program is not
considered a quota because it a search for students of unique talents and backgrounds who can enrich
the diversity of the student body in distinct ways ( Brief of Respondents University, 2015). The
University conducted internal studies and was alarmed at the low rate of minorities attending classes,
and is committed to improving the interracial relations by increasing diversity. The University believes
that by promoting diversity it will break down long standing racial and ethnic stereotypes, as well as
improving cross racial understanding. They find that this is necessary because our society is still race
conscious. Texas is in fact racially segregated within cities. I think that Santa Rosa may even have
some segregation, with Roseland having a predominantly low income Latino population the
elementary schools are made up of entirely Latino children, and have poor

fear of swimming, to her crazy dreams about Leonardo Dicaprio, and her dream vacation in Paris. My

When there isn t a sibling war, they stay separated throughout the day.
Everyone faces a challenge in life, like a roadblock. For Alexis, it s swimming. It doesn t matter
whether she s in swimming class, the ocean, or even the intercoastal: Alexis is not a fan of large and
deep bodies of water. She might freak out, and there s more. There s no evidence, but Alexis stays
behind the 4 feet line because she can t swim that well. Even though she has swim class for her first
quarter of freshmen year, there s no getting past a fear this big. Luckily for her, she can put up with it
for the grade. It s not a phobia, but don t try and shove Alexis into the deep end.

Preparing Teachers for Certification Essay
Preparing Teachers for Certification
Each state has its own specific standards that are constantly under revision. The state of Maryland
issues teacher certificates for early child hood, elementary education, special education, and then
several areas of secondary education. Many of these areas are the traditional, core subjects but
certificates can also be obtained in areas like outdoor education, agriculture, data processing, or as a
work based learning coordinator. (Certification Educator Information System, n.d.) To gain
certification in each area, a prospective teacher must complete an approved program that leads to that
particular certification. The traditional method of certification is through college and university
programs and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Maryland State Department of Education website contains a user friendly application process for
teachers, providing a method to apply for, renew, or reinstate a teaching certificate. It also supplies the
current listing of the approved programs in Maryland to receive certification as well as newer
requirements.
Maintaining Certification
Even after a teacher receives his/her initial certification, there is a good deal more that goes in to the
process. There are many things required of them in order to maintain certification and they are always
changing as new programs are put in effect and other rules invoked. For example, in July 1998, the
State Board of Education increased the number of reading credits for teachers at all educational levels.
(Certification educator information system, n.d.) There are different reading requirements now for
each certified teacher depending on the grade level they teach. Some states are also starting to require
teachers to go for their master s degree and others are offering monetary incentive to do so. Twenty
states require either a master s or graduate course work for teachers by the end of their first few years
on the job, up from only a few states a decade ago. Nearly all school districts give a salary bump for
the master s credential. (Golden, 2003)

Analysis Of Ibsen s Hedda Gabler
Alexandria Cruz
English 215
Prof. Dalton
August 18, 2014
Assignment #3 Question 1
Since the beginning of time there have always been a particular set of societal and gender roles for
men and women. Some were very openly known and others were known without even being said. The
story of Hedda Gabler by Ibsen Henrick tells the story of what seems to be a disturbed woman and her
manipulative charades that ultimately lead to her suicide. As one may say Hedda deserved her fate
others may sympathize with Hedda and understand the pressures that were being placed upon her from
society. During the Victorian period gender roles were strictly enforced and women had a certain place
in society and that was it. Ibsen Henrick understood this and painted a vivid picture of the everyday
life for women during the time and how lonesome, unfulfilling, and (INSERT WORD) it could have
been for some. Granted not all women felt this way because they were so consumed by the society and
tradition they merely followed suit, but there were women who began to feel the need to want more
out of life and to be empowered and have control over their own destiny and Hedda Gabbler was one
of those women. I don t believe Hedda was just a disturbed and vindictive woman. I believe Hedda
was a victim of societal pressure and her own circumstances and they drove her to do things she
would not normally do if she was happy in her own home and in a more free and comfortable place in
life.
The Victorian time period was

Factors That Affect Interpersonal Relationships
The Chilean Doctor Alejandra Godoy, states that there are mainly four types of attachments. On the
one hand, there is secure attachment which is positive, and on the other side, there are three different
styles of insecure attachment; the anxious, the avoidant and the ambivalent. The attachment,
specifically the anxious attachment, is an affective bond that is developed during the first years of life,
but some people keep it up to adults, which I strongly believe that negatively affects their
interpersonal relationships and their self esteem. Relationships consume a huge part of the emotional
energy to people with this type of attachment. In addition, it makes them easily upset.. When
something does not turn out as expected, the symptoms of nervousness, anxiety and depression begin,
so these people, who are victims of this strong bond, tend to suffer more in their relationships and in
their personal lives.
It is very common for people with anxious attachment to be very possessive in their relationships. In
general, they tend to confuse love with the need to belong to someone. The couple s relationship
consumes much of the emotional energy in people with this bond and makes them easily upset. If this
is what happens, it is not love what they really feel; it is the activated anxious attachment system.
Frequently, fears and doubts arise about the other on the relationship. A person with these symptoms
confuses love with his/ her attachment symptoms, stops having an independent

The Cold War Between Communism And Communism
After WW2, United States became the greatest power in the world; many American politicians
thought that Unites states should play the role as a leader to lead the rest of the world to a future of
international cooperation, expanding democracy, and ever increasing living standards (Give me
Liberty P952). They wanted to express the idea of equality, civil rights, and the freedom to the world,
and hoped to build an easier world for democracy and capitalism. However, Soviet Union, which was
the only power that could rival the United States, claimed that communism could make the world
more organized and ordered. Both countries hoped to expend their influences around the world, and
their confliction generally turned to be a cold war, in other words, a battle between Capitalism and
Communism. The cold war coincided with the civil rights movement in the United States and had a
strong influence on Africa Americans action of pursuing racial equality. Although some left wing
activists in the united states pushed the blacks and some whites into fear of speaking for the Africa
Americans, cold war still provided the blacks a good opportunity and a great starting reason to fight
for their civil rights and also enabled the U.S government realized the importance of racial equality for
their promotion of democracy because of domestic and international pressure.

Comparing Lan Yu And Bishonen
With the opening up of individuals and development of social progress, Asian cinematics start to
feature more same sex love stories. However, it is still difficult to watch queer movies in Mainland
China due to the local censorship and prejudice against homosexuality. Lan Yu directed by Stanly
Kwan and Bishonen directed by Yonfan are both queer movies featuring gay romance. These two
movies share certain similarities, but also differ significantly from each other. First of all, Lan Yu and
Bishonen are both released in Hong Kong, but banned in Mainland China. It is not surprising because
the mainland China citizens are culturally anti gay and are conservative minded. As Fran Martin
argues in Backward Glances, schoolgirl romances in Republican era China usually ended up ... Show

Chinese cultures notably favor the classic tales of chaste scholar beauty (caizi jiaren) romance (Martin
119), which idealizes the marriage between a talented man and a beautiful woman. Martin interprets
the typical heterosexual romances as socially progressive (118). In addition, he claims that the old
patriarchal society reiterates and values feminine virginity and moral virtue. It is appropriate to fall in
love and have sex for cross gender couples, but homosexual sex is largely tabooed and inferiorly
viewed. Martin mentions the universalizing model of the homosexual lover to reaffirm that the only
possible outcome for homosexuals is family arranged cross gender marriages, which follow the
mainstream of society(102). Furthermore, social norm in China believes that gay themed movies more
or less advocate violence and arbitrary sex behaviors, which may establish abnormal values and value
concepts for immature next generations. Hence, the traditional anti gay Chinese culture leads both Lan

Stroke Vs Heat Stroke
Heat Related Illnesses
Return to Play Guidelines
The two return to play guidelines I feel are most important are heat exhaustion and heat stroke. While
all are very important to learn, these two are crucial as it occurs more frequently here in Phoenix,
Arizona. After an athlete has heat exhaustion, it takes about a day to two days to recover enough to get
back into sports. During this time staying hydrated and keeping cool is imperative. The athlete should
avoid alcohol or caffeine and that only further dehydrates you. Taking breaks from the heat as the
athlete gradually goes back into sports will help getting used to the heat again (Ehrlich, 2014). After
having heat exhaustion, the athlete should be more cautious and drink past thirst satiation because he
or she will be effected more by the heat than usual. This is very important as returning to play ... Show

The main difference is that heat stroke is much more severe and can easily lead to death. There are
two types of heat stroke, exertional heat stroke and classic heat stroke. Exertional heat stroke occurs
during physical activity generally with younger athletes while classic heat stroke can happen to
anyone who is out in the sun too long and does not have much heat resistance. Signs and symptoms of
heat stroke are a throbbing headache, dizziness, lack of sweating, red and dry skin, muscle weakness
and cramps, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, shallow breathing, confusion, seizures, or syncope ( Heat
Stroke: Symptoms and Treatment, n.d.). In the event that heat stroke occurs, immediately call 911,
remove unnecessary clothing, dunk in an ice bath or apply ice packs and ice towels in a similar
fashion as you would for heat exhaustion ( Heat Stroke: Symptoms and Treatment, n.d.). Even if the
athletic trainer doubts if the condition if heat stroke or heat exhaustion, dunking the athlete in an ice
bath or applying cold will still be

  • 2. The Stigma Of Embryonic Stem Cell Research Despite the stigma surrounding embryonic stem cell research, there are many positives that outweigh the negatives in medical and scientific settings. Due to the knowledge of this, continued funding and support is critical for the advancement of these therapies and science as a whole. Diseases that can be aided by unabating financial and moral support are but not limited to, spinal cord injury, heart disease, parkinson s disease, alzheimer s and Lou Gehrig s disease, more commonly known as ALS. Funding via the government was passed into law in 2008 by President Barack Obama. As the election comes upon us it is important to keep in mind that the continued federal funding for embryonic is at stake. Embryonic stem cells are cells found in the human body that have not yet differentiated, or specialised meaning that they have not yet received the specific instructions to become a specific cell. They can be manipulated to turn into any kind of cell, for example, new skin cells for someone with melanoma. Stem cells are found in the placenta, umbilical blood, fat tissue, bone marrow and mew embryos. Embryonic stem cells have an advantage over the other sources of stem cells because the cells have less exposure to the outside world and are relatively easy to access, in situations like in vitro fertilization. Scientists and researchers believe they could potentially treat a wide array of human conditions and diseases, such as spinal cord injury, type one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reliable Utilization of Family Life Cycle Information to... Problem Statement Market segmentation methods that reliably utilize information about family life cycle to ascertain consumers preferences for dining in restaurants have not been established. As a result, the foodservice industry may well be forgoing substantive opportunities to market to restaurant patrons and to strengthen the attractiveness of dining out experiences. Indeed, the tourism and hospitality literature points to a relation between the demographic attributes of families and food purchases that are made away from home. Evidence of a viable market can be taken from the rate of growth over several decades: the amount of discretionary money that American families spend on dining out has increased from 25% of their food budget to 50% in the years spanning 1955 to 2006. Data Analysis The family life cycle (FLC) conceit provides a method for reflecting the anticipated variations in purchasing patterns attributed to changes in the needs and capacities of families over the duration of the family unit life cycle (Lawson, 1988). However, the model has not held up well to sea changes in the composition, structure, and flux of modern family units (Lin Lehto, 2006). As recommended by Schaninger and Danko (993), the authors took an approach typical to the development of target market personas, such that they were able to categorize households in a manner that maximized between group variance. The resultant modifications collapsed the number of categories from eight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Research Proposal On The Veil Research Proposal Muslims and the Veil Coming the 19th century, a new type of clothing made its way to the Muslim society, this being the veil. A veil is a piece of more or less transparent material, used to conceal a woman s face and head ( Veil ). After the acceptance of the veil into society, the initial use was to protect women and their modesty and virtue. However, as time went on, the veil became more of a tool for Muslims to express their cultural identity. There are multiple different types of veils, or hijabs, including the Khimar, Chador, Niqāb, and the Burqa ( What is the Hijab and Why do Women Wear it? ). Even though they are different, they all serve the same purpose of protecting women and their modesty and virtue. The incorporation of the veil in Muslim society dates back to the 19th century, but has originally started in the middle east ( What is the Hijab and Why do Women Wear it? ). As a matter of fact, as religion and culture spread, so did the veil, eventually making its way to Southeast Asia. The veil started as a way of protection for women, to protect their modesty and virtue. Surprisingly, this belief goes back to the Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam, which said that women should be modest. Additionally, this was a universal message, that women should follow these standards ( Muhammad and Women. ). The meaning of the veil has changed over time with politics, history, and its significance has never been static or monolithic (E. Sanders). Like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This activity disrupts natural animal population dynamics and has contributed to the extinction of animal species all over the world, including the Tasmanian tiger and the great auk.(1,2) Although less than 5 percent of the U.S. population hunts, hunting is permitted in many wildlife refuges, national forests, and state parks and on other public lands3 where almost half of all hunters slaughter and maim millions of animals every year (by some estimates, poachers kill just as many animals illegally).(4,5) The vast majority of hunters do not kill for subsistence.(6) Municipalities and ... (18) In the early 1990s, a program designed to reduce the wolf population backfired when snares failed to kill victims quickly, and photos of suffering wolves were viewed by an outraged public.(19) Nature Takes Care of Its Own The delicate balance of ecosystems ensures their own survival if they are left unaltered. Natural predators help maintain this balance by killing the sickest and weakest individuals. Hunters, however, kill any animal whose head they would like to hang over the fireplace including large, healthy animals who are needed to keep the population strong. Elephant poaching is believed to have increased the number of tuskless animals in Africa, and in Canada, hunting has caused bighorn sheep s horn size to fall by 25 percent in the last 40 years Nature magazine reports that the effect on the populations genetics is probably deeper. Estimation of Robust Standard by using Compression Sensing Data in Wireless Sensor Network Brindha.M1and Prabaharan.P2 1Department of CSE, Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women, brindhadass90@gmailcom 2Department of CSE, Vivekanandha College of Engineering for Women, kpra8897 @gmail.com Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is the collection of physical measurements in a geographical area. It tracks the spatial average of the sensor measurements in a region. Since it is highly vulnerable to sensor faults and measurement noise the average operation is not robust. In this paper the proposed computational efficient method is used to compute a weight average of sensor measurement. It takes consideration of sensor faults and sensor noise. WSN uses random projections of sensor to compress data and send the compressed data to the data fusion center. The computation efficient method uses the data fusion center for direct work with the compressed data stream. The fusion center performed decompression at the time of computed weighted average. Thus, it reduces the computational requirements. Hence the proposed method gives better accuracy and more efficient for the WSN. Keywords Wireless sensor network, compressive sensing, distributed compressive sensing, fault tolerance, data fusion, robust averaging. In this way, the balanced scorecard framework explicitly recognizes interrelationships between strategy specific measures of financial and customer outcomes and inputoriented performance drivers related to the firm s internal processes and organizational capabilities. However, managers must formulate strategies, and select related objectives and measures, based on exante expectations about how the strategy will translate into financial performance. • 11. A Leg Stand On By Oliver Sacks A Leg to Stand On, by Oliver Sacks, is a book about Sacks himself. Sacks depicts the story of his self induced disability, and the mental/physical barriers he faced within recovery, and acceptance. Sacks broke down this process into seven steps: the mountain, becoming a patient, limbo, quickening, Solvitur Ambulando, convalescence, and understanding. Along with the physical and mental barriers he faced, there were many macro/micro contextual level issues throughout the book. These issues included problems with his doctors, with his self identification, and body ego. Sacks grew up as an athletic individual, his health being a main priority throughout his life. He talks about how he grew up valuing his physical health more than anything, appreciating what hid body could do and using it to its fullest advantage. Within his physical training, he trained to climb a mountain called Hardanger Fjord. While climbing this mountain he expressed how his body was an instrument in which he played and used to create the music of his physical endurance. When he was reaching the peak of the mountain, he encountered a sign warning him of dangerous bulls on the mountain. Him thinking he was a superior being and superior to this warning, he continued his hike despite the warning. Suddenly he was faced with the danger this deadly bull, frozen in place from his own fear. The first step in understanding the story of the Good Samaritan is to understand the relationship between the Jews and the Samaritans of the time. Burke s Nakedness Of Adam And Eve Burke identifies a norm of a naked expulsion of Adam and Eve beginning by 1500, which contradicts the biblical account God made coats of skins and clothed them before forced to leave the Garden of Eden. According to Burke, until about the early 15th century, all Italian iconography of Adam and Eve expulsions were fully clothed or with covered genitalia. Afterwards, Adam and Eve were shown to be fully naked post expulsion from the Garden as seen in Masaccio s infamous Expulsion from Paradise (1423). Burke s ultimate observation on Adam and Eve s portrayal of nakedness after being expelled from Eden is that it serves a purpose beyond the fall of man. An array of various classical texts, Vitruvius On Architecture (c. 15th), Diodorus Library of History (Latin: 1450) and Lucretius s De Rerum Natura (Bracciolini: 1417) which described early human development as naked, wretched and animalistic supports an argument for symbolic ... • 19. The Civil War Of Iran Essay Historical Background Throughout the 1980 s, Lebanon was engulfed in a brutal civil war that was waged between the government and different rebel factions. Hezbollah, a fundamentalist Shia militant group allied with the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), was one of the major forces fighting against the Lebanese government. With Ronald Reagan as acting president of the United States, he made an effort toward stabilizing the Area by sending peacekeeping forces to Beirut. In retaliation to this involvement, a suicide bomber drove a truck into a military barracks, killing 241 peacekeepers on October 23, 1983. 21 suspects were detained in suspicion of being involved in the planning of the attack; Hezbollah, in retaliation, began to kidnap American and western individuals, demanding the release of these men along with other outrageous concessions. Meanwhile, only a few countries away, the newly formed Islamic Republic of Iran was at war against its secular neighbor, Iraq. Prior to the Iranian Revolution, America had close relations with Iran s former leader, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and supplied the regime with American made military equipment. The new Iranians leaders, however, had begun to exhaust these munitions from its war with Iraq, requiring more weapons and spare parts in order to effectively thwart the advances by Saddam Hussein s army. The United States however, had vowed neutrality, stating they would not sell arms to the belligerents of the war. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A time of societal upheaval, poets who were motivated by their negative experiences of humanity used poetry as a vehicle to change the nature of attitudes in Victorian England. Within the pantheon of Victorian poets, Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Oscar Wilde illustrated this changeable nature of Victorian England through attempting to transform the values contemporary to their time by challenging injustices within their society. Considering that Browning heard the actual cries of the children whom she so poignantly bemoans in her poem, it is evident that her ballad is rather a cry for the children. This rhetorical question challenges those that exploit the young for the sake of their own selfish prosperity through contrasting the misery of exploited children against the shallow exuberance of industrialised England. Browning further elucidates the abhorrence of child labour by offering exploited children a voice to reveal their experiences of suppression, in which she uses direct speech to portray them as commenting that It is good when it happens, say the children, That we die before our time! Analysis Of Ibsen s Hedda Gabler Alexandria Cruz English 215 Prof. Dalton August 18, 2014 Assignment #3 Question 1 Since the beginning of time there have always been a particular set of societal and gender roles for men and women. Some were very openly known and others were known without even being said. The story of Hedda Gabler by Ibsen Henrick tells the story of what seems to be a disturbed woman and her manipulative charades that ultimately lead to her suicide. As one may say Hedda deserved her fate others may sympathize with Hedda and understand the pressures that were being placed upon her from society. During the Victorian period gender roles were strictly enforced and women had a certain place in society and that was it. Ibsen Henrick understood this and painted a vivid picture of the everyday life for women during the time and how lonesome, unfulfilling, and (INSERT WORD) it could have been for some. Granted not all women felt this way because they were so consumed by the society and tradition they merely followed suit, but there were women who began to feel the need to want more out of life and to be empowered and have control over their own destiny and Hedda Gabbler was one of those women. I don t believe Hedda was just a disturbed and vindictive woman. I believe Hedda was a victim of societal pressure and her own circumstances and they drove her to do things she would not normally do if she was happy in her own home and in a more free and comfortable place in life. On the one hand, there is secure attachment which is positive, and on the other side, there are three different styles of insecure attachment; the anxious, the avoidant and the ambivalent. The attachment, specifically the anxious attachment, is an affective bond that is developed during the first years of life, but some people keep it up to adults, which I strongly believe that negatively affects their interpersonal relationships and their self esteem. Relationships consume a huge part of the emotional energy to people with this type of attachment. In addition, it makes them easily upset.. When something does not turn out as expected, the symptoms of nervousness, anxiety and depression begin, so these people, who are victims of this strong bond, tend to suffer more in their relationships and in their personal lives. It is very common for people with anxious attachment to be very possessive in their relationships. In general, they tend to confuse love with the need to belong to someone. The couple s relationship consumes much of the emotional energy in people with this bond and makes them easily upset.
