Civil Law And Common Law System
VIII lawyer in civil law and common law system
B lawyers in civil law systems
When students graduate from law school, if they want to get a license from law firm to practice
law, they have some conditions, but it is different from the common law system. Lawyers still
represent the interests of their clients in civil proceedings, but have a little central role, if we
compare the common law systems, however, their functions commonly contain advising clients
on points of law and preparing legal pleadings for filing with the court, but the importance of oral
argument, in court presentations and active lawyer in court are minimized when compared to a
common law system. Moreover, non litigation legal tasks, such as will preparation and contract
drafting, may be left to quasi legal professionals who serve businesses and private individuals,
and who may not have a post university legal education or be licensed to practice before courts.
If the law student want to become lawyer in civil law system is different from one country to
another country. For example, in Iraq law school students can become a lawyer after graduation
from law school, but they have to participate in training to get a license, they do not need to take
any exam, but in some country that they have civil law system , a lawyer have taken exam to get a
license for example France.
Lawyer in Iraqi civil law system, in Iraq lawyer has different function if we compare with a
common law system when a lawyer hires by a

Free Trade and the Economy of Canada Essay
Free Trade and the Economy of Canada
Free trade is the act of exchanging goods or services between countries for minimal tariffs or fees.
Between countries, this is a method of exchange that is gaining more and more popularity. By
importing and exporting for low fees, free trade is an efficient way to cover up weaknesses in the
country and gain on strengths. Free trade is a very controversial topic that is viewed upon
differently by many people in many different countries. Some oppose free trade; they feel it will
cause production losses or low employment in their country. Many countries also embrace it and
believe it helps create a strong and healthy nation. They join in free trade organizations or draft free
trade agreements with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The comparative advantage for computers, then, would go to Japan because they are more efficient
at making them. They produce more computers and give up less than Canada does.
Because Japan has the comparative advantage in producing computers in that example, free
trade would maximize both country s production by having Japan specialize in producing
computers and Canada specialize in producing cars. Then, both countries could trade the
products they specialize in for the other, at a fair rate to be determined separately. Without free
trade, each country had a bigger limit on what good they could produce. With trade, both
countries still have a limit to what the countries can produce, but since they are trading what they
are best at producing, they are maximizing the total numbers of goods in the country. Thus by
trade at a fair, un taxed rate, they are capable of having more goods and services in their country
and any given time. Both countries are able to produce the best they can and thus from trade, they
receive the most of the other good as they possibly can. This is known as the law of comparative
advantage (Mankiw, Kneebone, McKenzie Rowe 55).
In Canada, the law of comparative advantage produces enormous benefits for both consumers and
producers. First, by establishing trade connections with other countries, it allows Canada to
specialize in producing what it is best in producing. No longer does

The Soviet Union Essay
The Soviet Union
The Soviet Union sparked its first paths of development towards a communist economy through a
five year plan in 1938. The plan called for government controls and government regulation for their
workers. This planned also controlled prices and wages for the workers to control the standard of
living and to keep the needs of the common man minimal. The government wanted control of all
private industries so that they can push for a rapid industrial society. Benefits such as health care
and public housing were terminated to help the Soviet government with their plan. The Soviets
wanted to combine their work force with their investments in coal, steel and iron to boost their
capital and help them create a super nation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gorbachev was still trying for economic reforms. Small business enterprises began to branch out
and with new laws in place more businesses were in control of themselves without that much
government regulations. These businesses folded and inflation became a horrid realization for the
soviets. The soviet economic plan was failing and was not showing any signs of revival. It was not
until the breaking up of the Soviet Union in the early 90 s where the Soviet economy would show
signs of hope.
Compared to the theories of Marx, the Soviet Union did not begin their economic development
in the way, which Marx theorized. He believed that the economy needed to be collectively ran
and owned rather than in private hands. He also believed that education should be free for all
children in public schools and that benefits for workers should be in place. His overall ideas were

the destalinization period the beliefs were beginning to give back to the working man and uses of
new strategies to help overall production arose and thus helped the economy. During the period of

Raisin In The Sun Prejudice
A Raisin in the Sun
Introduction
The movie A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry is about an African American family who
receives an insurance check for $10,000 from Mr. Younger s life insurance policy. Each of the
family members are anticipating doing something different with the money; in the meantime mama
has plans to buy a house for the family. The Younger family faces economic hardships and racial
discrimination during their struggles to gain middle class acceptance. The movie A Raisin in the
Sun demonstrates the importance of family values, personal dreams, and racial discrimination. In
the 1961 play, A Raisin in the Sun, Lorraine Hansberry uses the Younger family to show individuals
whom compete to reach their dreams that are often disregarded by others however; they eventually
learn to support one another to achieve wealthier and more stable futures.

Constraints Of Empire
Nationalism equals political and economic modernization [which] which really ends up being a
perverse trick. This equation serves to mobilize popular forces and galvanize a social movement,
but where does the movement lead and what interest does it serve? In most cases it involves a
delegated struggle, in which the modernization project also establishes in power the new ruling
group that is charged with carrying it out. The revolution is thus offered up, hands and feet bound,
to the new bourgeoisie (Hardt 133).
In essence, it is often merely the face of power that changes, and not actually the structures that
make up and uphold oppression.
The new nation created by liberation must still contend with the world orders in which it finds itself,

Appiah largely makes arguments about what is considered right, or the different ways in which
cultures should respond to certain practices. Hardt and Negri, on the other hand present an analysis
that is, for the most part, amoral. They make observations about habits and trends within the
shifting power of political and economic conditions, though their analysis is suffused with disdain
for the system as they currently see it. Appiah makes historical observations about cultural
interaction, honor, and respect that he then extrapolates to the practices of a modern culture which
he considers to be immoral. Hardt and Negri, on the other hand, focus on more post colonial
political and economic conditions and seek to determine a pattern of causes and intermingling

Rogue Trader
Rogue Trader
How many times can you go double or nothing before you wind up a billion pounds in debt? In
Rogue Trader , a film based on the life on Nick Leeson, we get a glimpse into this real world
dilemma. The drama begins with Leeson s promotion to general manager of Barings Futures
Singapore. As general manager, he faces a personal quandary and must decide whether to cover
for a friend and coworker who made an honest mistake (one that resulted in the loss of a
substantial amount of money) or to turn the same person in to face termination. Leeson chooses
loyalty to his friend over loyalty to the bank, and covers up the losses by creating an error account.

Additionally, throughout the movie, almost no top executives came to Singapore to make sure that
the new business operation was running smoothly. Lack of training to recognize risk was also a
problem since Leeson s assistant, Risselle, was not competent enough to question or whistle
blow on the creation of the 88888 account and other questionable actions asked of her, even
though they were obviously high risk. One major problem was the lack of an early detection
system in place for risky behavior auditors were only present in new market AFTER there was a
flag in the system, not as the new market was being set up. Why was there not an external auditor
or consultant that was contracted to specifically deal with risk assessment for employees? More
generally Barings Future Singapore is inherently risky because SIMEX is an emerging market, one
where nobody can predict the rise and fall. This becomes obvious when the stock market crashes as
a result of the Kobe Earthquake in the movie. Furthermore, risk increases as business increases
(volume). An example of this is when Leeson takes on Beaumarchais as a client, knowing his
business volume was a quarter of the SIMEX market. That is too much volume for a fledgling
market.
Control Activities is another area that was grossly overlooked in Rogue Trader. Firstly, Barings
board members delegated auditing tasks to staff that didn t follow through with the entire process.

Gene Flow In Full Genotypes
Gene flow is the process by which individuals (full genotype), and/or the genetic material they
carry (certain alleles of genes), move from one population to another and is an important source of
genetic variation, because it brings new alleles in the population. Gene flow can be subdivided in
three categories: (1) Migration: the movement of full genotypes (individuals) from one population
to another within the same species, which may be further integrated later by breeding, (2)
Introgression: the movement of genes from one species or strain to another through a process of
successful mating (hybridization) and backcrossing, (3) Horizontal (or lateral) genetransfer: the

Literacy Analysis
Literary Analysis of Battle Royal I m writing an analysis of Battle Royal by Ralph Ellison. It is
told from the first person point of view. This is a story about a young African American named
Ralph Ellison, who is trying to be accepted by white society. He is offered the opportunity to read
his speech he had written for his graduation at a gathering of the town s leading white citizens
(p.286). Ralph Ellison is told that he should partake in the Battle Royal before giving his speech as
part of the entertainment. The Battle Royal is a fight in which several young African Americanboys

To top it off they blind fold all of the boys just to make it more amusing. They humiliate the boys
by making them watch a nude woman dance before the fight. And then they force them to pick up
fake coins off of an electrified rug. Shocking them and getting enjoyment from their pain. This is a
very racist story. But unfortunately it truly reflects on how these individuals were treated during
this time. The big shots only want to be controlling racists, and get enjoyment from this. They will
not accept any behavior from the African Americans except submission. The idea of social
equality between them and the African Americans is quite appalling for them (p.297). They are
strictly set against this and will probably do what ever it takes to prevent this from happening. I
liked the ambition of Ralph, his determination to make sure that he is heard. He really feels as
though his speech will make a huge impact for his people in his community. He is trying to become
accepted into a society that does not want to accept him or his people. I agree with Paula Caudle,
Naomi Lancaster, and Andy Stamper Students, University of North Carolina at Pembroke (http:/

How pGlo and Ampicillin Affect the Growth of Bacteria
Transformation is any change in an organism that alters its general character. It means change
caused by gene. (biology online.org) Genetic engineering is the process of manually adding new
DNA to an organism. The main goal of genetic engineering is to add one or more new traits that the
organism does not already have. ( ) There are many benefits of genetic engineering. With genetic
engineering many illnesses and diseases can easily be prevented by isolating the gene that causes
them. Also, genetic engineering has the ability to increase genetic diversity and pinpoint desirable
traits of certain organisms. There are also various disadvantages of genetic engineering. For
example, the process of genetic engineering is a long process that is risky and tricky. You need a

Exclusive Breastfeeding
Deciding to breastfeed is one of the best choices you can make for you and your baby. Breast milk
has all the nutrients that your baby needs, when your baby needs them. That is why many women
who can choose to breastfeed exclusively.
A change in hormones during pregnancy causes your breast tissue to grow and increases the
number and size of your milk ducts. These hormones also allow proteins, sugars, and fats from
your blood supply to make breast milk in your milk producing glands. Hormones prevent breast

Breastfeeding helps to burn calories and helps you lose the weight gained during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding makes your uterus contract to its prepregnancy size faster and slows bleeding
(lochia) after you give birth.
Breastfeeding helps to lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and
breast or ovarian cancer later in life.
BENEFITS OF EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING
The more often your baby breastfeeds, the more milk you will produce. By exclusively
breastfeeding, you help to ensure that your baby has an ample supply of milk. Supplementing with
water or infant formula when your baby would otherwise be breastfeeding may send a message to
your body that less milk is needed. Your baby may become full from the supplements and
breastfeed less. This can interfere with the establishment of your milk supply.
Exclusive breastfeeding helps to develop your baby s immune system in a healthy way. Your
breast milk contains antibodies your baby needs to to fight off germs that cause infections.
Breastfed babies are also less likely to develop food allergies. When your baby is introduced to
foods other than breast milk too soon, his or her body is more likely to interpret that food as an
allergen, making antibodies against it. This is what causes food allergies. If your baby
breastfeeds less because he or she is also receiving supplements, he or she may have a harder time
fighting infections or be more likely

are the most responsible in the upbringing of their child. That being said, parents can choose to

When it comes to advertisements promoting certain toys and products to children, companies are
not afraid to advertise gender targeted products, because they know children are vulnerable. A

children realize that the toys they see advertised are only meant for one gender, they latch on to
that group of children and do not socialize with the other gender. This sets a detrimental precedent
for child development and socialization skills. When children are exposed to media at a young
age, their brains first start to develop and they learn to adapt to their environment. As soon as the
child is fully developed, however, there is no way of causing them to forget what they learned or

children are capable without even realizing that they are pushing themselves away from the other

When growing up as a Christian, some of the first Bible stories ever told are the stories found in
Genesis. These stories were a fun and simple place to start for young Christians, but behind them
all are important moral stories. However, as a child most of these morals were harder to see and it
isn t until later that they are brought to attention. The story of Noah is no different, in the fact that
it contains several great morals that are applicable today. Before discussing the morals of the story,
it is important to first know the story of Noah. Noah is first introduced into the Biblein Genesis 5:29

The World War II ( Wwii ) Essay
World War II (WWII) lasted longer and killed more people than the Great War. There was not a
fast victory conquered by bombers hitting the heart of the enemy. Air power s contribution to the
allied victory did not represent the ultimate fulfillment of the predictions of interwar theorists.
Even though air power had an important role, and many lessons and doctrines emerged after this
period, the visions of Douhet, Mitchell and others did not materialized as they expected. In this
paper, I will discuss three of the main prophecies: the effectiveness of the strategic bombing, the
ability of air power to win the war by itself, and the futility of the use of air power for defense of
territory.
Strategic bombing was the main prophecy emerged after World War I(WWI). It would avoid the
bloody and slow process of ground invasion to hit the enemy will to fight. Theorists offered
efficiency and speed instead of attrition and carnage. In the industrial societies, destroying the
weapon industrial plants and frightening its work force in theory implied leaving the enemy
without means to fight.2 However, during the first campaigns of WWII was evident that it was not
so simple to reach the targets.3 Thus; the prediction reflected an optimist perspective, obviating the
difficulties before arriving to the point. Even in the best case, without significant air opposition,
altitude was inversely proportional to the accuracy of the bombs due to limitations of crew training
and technology. It

The Hundred Years War The Hundred Years War was a war between England and France in which

The origin of the war goes back to the conquest of William for England. In 1066

On October 19, 1337, Edward III drafted a document to Philip of Valois that said that Edward was
the rightful king of France and that Edward would no longer pay homage to Philip of the French
lands that he owned. This letter was given to him by
Henry Burghersh, the bishop of England. Philip just sat back and smiled and prepared for war
(Time Life 17). Edward drafted this document because he disagreed with the way that Philip was
ruling the land that he owned. There were dukes and lords appointed by
Philip to rule over the lands of Edward III. Edward wanted to rule them himself. The two tried to
work out their differences, but failed. This situation was made more awkward because of other
economic problems between the 2 countries. England and France depended on each other. France
was England s main supplier of salt and France depended on England for wool. English also held
the port at Bordeaux in France enabling them to control transportation along the English Channel.

Ffa Creed Research Paper
I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds..... E.M. Tiffany
wrote the original FFA (Future Farmers of America) creed and it was revised at the 38th and 63rd
FFA National Convention, but it was adopted to the FFA at the third national convention. There are
649,355 current members that know this creed, but that number does not include the alumni (https:
//www.ffa.org/about/who we are/our membership). FFA is just only one amazing thing you can
do with agriculture. We will be taking a look at the problems, causes, and the solutions so that
more people can know the FFA creed and can discover something that they didn t know about
them and/or the agriculture experience. Some of the problems are the lack of knowledge, the
decline of agriculture, and the lack of younger generations not wanting anything to do with
agriculture. Most people in the cities like Indianapolis, for example don t think they can do
anything with agriculture because there is not a cornfields nor a bean fields like we... Show more

Mad Tiger Inaccuracies
Mad Tiger (2015) by Michael Haertlein and Jonathan Yi Good band documentaries often aren t
about the music or back stage antics. They focus on the struggles of the band and their often
very normal lives. Mad Tiger is a film about a Japanese punk band called Peelander Z who live and
play in NYC. It s an intimate look of the relationship between two band members and if you read
between the lines you can see where their troubles start. Peelander Z reminds me a lot of the
band Gwar. If you don t know who Gwar is you likely aren t a metal head like I am but let me tell
you they claim to be from another planet, wear crazy costumes, play simple rock music, and often
spray the audience with fake blood and put on a very crazy gore filled stage show.... Show more

During all this turmoil we do see the band play a few small club gigs. Their music is nothing to
write home about, even Kengo says the band is based on 10% music and 90% theatre. I listened
to some of their songs and didn t like what I heard. I am not really a punk fan but it s easy to hear
that this band plays basic entry level silly sounding punk rock and doesn t focus on creating
anything interesting or original. The directors do a nice job of showing the two sides of the
band, it s self described Japanese action comic punk stage shows, and it s troubled relationships
and personal struggles. Filmmakers Michael Haertlein and Jonathan Yi have few directing
credits on IMBD but both are accomplished camera men. The cinematography in this doc at times
seems amateur but it may be a punk aesthetic they are trying to achieve but it s difficult to tell.
Most of the shots are three quarter talking head shots and I would bet the entire film was shot on
a DSLR camera. There are a few blurs, fades and slo mos and long shots but most of the action is
hand held which leads to a few focusing issues but its excusable considering the content of the doc

My Best Friend Set Me Up With A Blind
One glance at my bathroom clock tells me exactly what I already guessed that I m late. I sigh

the darling old woman moved out a month ago, and a new tenant just moved it. Crap, I think. As if

A knock on my door brings me back to reality. I set my book down and stand up to answer it.
However, an absentminded glance at my watch makes me panic. I was supposed to be
downtown ten minutes ago, and I still have to deal with whoever knocked before I can leave. On
my way to the door, I grab my favorite pair of shoes. I only have one on when I open it, and what
I see almost makes me drop the other one. A gorgeous young woman stands outside my apartment,
dressed stylishly in a red, black, and silver cocktail dress, a leather jacket, and stunning accessories.
I stare at her for a second too long before asking her how I may help her. I m sorry, but I have a
rather awkward request. I nod at her to continue, thinking that I d do just about anything this
woman asked me to. I live across the hall, and all my roommates are gone tonight. I

The Purpose and Practice of Monastic Vocation Essay
The Purpose and Practice of Monastic Vocation
The monastic vocation can be called a mystery and in two senses of the word.
Primarily divine mystery is a reality proceeding from God, at once hidden and revealed, expressing
in its essence something of the grace, wisdom, peace and fruitfulness of God.
Monastic consecration a mystery akin to the sacramental mysteries of the Church, in which an inner
change is affected through an outward ritual or symbol and from here becomes a wellspring of
Divine energy.

В· Great care must be taken of those who are sick.
For their first reason, silence is very important for Benedictines for the reason that they could
concentrate more and more on hearing God s voice. If they fill their mind with noises they would
not be able to focus their mind on praying and hearing the wisdom of their Abbot, and their brethren
as they guide them in their search of God.
Secondly, talking too much will not be able to avoid having a sin, as our tongue is the effective
weapon of all, which will hurt other people.
However, the control of talking would make a change to peoples lives to good, as this will give
advice to people, support them, encourage them, teach them, console them.
Humility is also important. This will make them understand the truth of being a Christian. Pride is
the opposite of humility, because of our pride lying is sometimes the answer, it can also ruin the
Christian s belief.
When a person wants to join a monastic life they have to make a vow, which are obedience,
stability and Conversatio Morum. Once the vow is made they are making a promise to God that
they would serve Him, until he die. This is how they show how much they love God, just as God s
love us constantly.
Obedience Obeying God is the first thing that they have to vow, the fact that in his rule he describe

Government Intervention Lies Conviction Of The Existance...
At the core of the theory justifying the need for government intervention lies conviction of the
existance of market failure, defects that make certain market situation, which by its nature is to aim
to maximise satisfaction / utility and optimally allocate resources, it stops in the sense of optimum
Pareto function properly (Francis M. Bator, 1958) . In other words, the marketreduces the utility and
waste resources. It must therefore step a mediator usually government or legislative body which
will correct existing errors, improving the existing condition of things, that is, increasing the
usability and improving allocation. Interventionism is often called the third way, mixed economy,
social market economy or the welfare state and the main purpose of it is to achieve compromise
between capitalism, which is identified with the market econmy, and socialist system where the
predominant form is centrally planed economy. The term market failure, which for he first time
appeared in 1958 (Francis M. Bator, 1958), defines situation where the market does not perform
in a rational ways its basic functions; motivational and allocative. According to F.M.Bator, the
market fails when people are fully dedicated to their private interests what in fact leads to
inefficiency. F.M. Bator argues that businessmen`s desire for a ``quiet life`` is oposed to the fact
that ` they have to do with the efficiency of ``real life`` market institutions operated by ``real life``

The Sexual Revolution Of The 20th Century
When people learn that I practice and preach about chastity, many are taken back. It s not often
that you find a young, teenage girl unashamed in her choice to remain pure. I ve accepted that if I
m going to live a pure lifestyle, I can t expect the world to understand my decision.
And I blame it all on the sexual revolution.
Up to that point in the twentieth century, people were living in a prudish, unhealthy culture that
twisted our human sexuality into something that was looked down upon, as something to be
ashamed of. Repressing one s sexual desires simply does not work; that s not how we were built.

Monologues, inviting people to reduce their self image to their anatomy. Likewise, there is no

Chastity is not about locking ourselves up in a tower and wearing a steel belt all our days; it s
being freed from selfishness and the standards of our culture and growing in our capacity to love
authentically.
Chastity and abstinence are frequently confused with each other. Abstinence is merely abstaining
from all sexual encounters. Abstinence focuses on what you can t do and what you can t have. That
statement contradicts chastity. Chastity focuses and what can have and do have right now; a

purity in many cases, some people think in means reverting to that puritan movement of sexual
repression. ON the contrary, it frees lovers up from that selfish attitude of using each other, making
them capable of true love. In fact, the Catholic Catechism states All Christ s faithful are called to

that there is married chastity and unmarried chastity.

The Effect Of Priming Of Optimism And The Esteem On Life...
This study analyzed the effect of the priming of optimism and self esteem on life satisfaction. It
was predicted that participants with low self esteem and primed with optimism with have high life
satisfaction rates. Optimism was primed by having the participant make four sentences by using
words from a group of words. The Rosenberg scale was used to classify the participants into low or
high self esteem. The life satisfaction questionnaire was used to rate how much the participant was
satisfied with life. It was concluded that participants who have high self esteem also have high
satisfaction than those who have low self esteem. No interaction was found to be conclusive.
The Effect of Priming Optimism and Self Esteem on Life Satisfaction
It has been recorded that self esteem has a huge impact on how people see them themselves. It is
an indicator of how the person will be able to manage certain situations in his or her life. Self
esteem is the confidence in one s own worth or abilities. Self esteem can affect the way someone
feels about his or her life. The prime effect is the implication of a memory effect in which
exposure to one stimulus influences the response to another stimulus. The person s behavior may
be exposed to actions that unconsciously shape the way he or she acts and thinks. This may be
shown in repetition of words to alter the way a person may act to something. For example, if the
person sees the words table repeatedly, he or she is more

Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech Analysis
There is no denying conflict. Everyone faces conflict of some sort in their lives, whether it be an
argument over which sibling gets to sit in the front seat of the car on the way to school, or a
potentially dangerous confrontation that necessitates an immediate reaction. Writers such as Susan
Campbell Bartoletti and Elie Wiesel, who wrote Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler s Shadow and
Nobel PrizeAcceptance Speech respectively, portray such situations. Bartoletti writes about how
one German girl faced conflict during World War Two, and Wiesel shares his personal
experience as a Jew in a concentration camp. Both works show that the most important aspect of
facing a conflict is the way in which a person chooses to deal with it. One could react to conflict
by becoming angry or sullen, shouting or going silent, or simply pouting. None of these
reactions are the best some can even be counterproductive to one s goals. The best way to deal with
conflict is to take a stand for one s beliefs. First off, standing up for one s beliefs creates many

4. Although the industry is making a comeback, there are several threats to airlines that could affect
their long term success. Even though it is one of the opportunities in the market, changing customer
preferences are also a threat to some upper class airlines. Consumers are demanding fewer frills, less
costs, and fewer connecting flights. Financing is becoming more difficult to achieve in the industry
due to the fact that so many companies are failing to turn profits and are filing for bankruptcy.
Those organizations that have survived the recent down turn in the industry are gaining the ability

increased technology, such as video conferencing, that has decreased the demand for business

Character Analysis Of Travel With Steinbeck
Charles le Chien; a bleu gentleman poodle who prefers a negotiation over any conflict. Born in
Paris, France, Charley was trained and eventually brought into Steinbeck s life. These companions
later travel around America while trying to answer the question What are Americans like today?
With only his necessities and Charley, Steinbeck began his long, overwhelming journey across
America. In Travels with Charley, Steinbeck is greatly influenced by Charley and his actions. As
Steinbeck traveled to Long Island, his relationship with Charley was slowly introduced as they
headed for Niagara Falls. Charley caught it from me, but he is a gallant dog. He came into the
bathroom and that old fool played with the plastic bath mat like a puppy. What strength of
character, what a friend! (Steinbeck 47). From this excerpt, we can understand that Steinbeck
sees Charley not only as a dog, but as his friend. He seems to admire Charley s sense of character,
as it lights up the environment around him. The quality of their friendship is important
throughout the first section of this novel because it will indicate how the rest of their journey
will layout, especially during demanding times. From the first example, we can infer that
Charley s character towards Steinbeck comforts him. The traits that the author sees in Charley
helps him to feel accompanied rather than lonely during his travels. In establishing contact with
strange people, Charley is my ambassador... A child can do the same thing, but a dog is better.
(Steinbeck 65). From this line, Charley is described as one who can do things a human might do
for Steinbeck, but of better quality. Steinbeck suggests that his companion is also his ambassador,
making it appear that Charley s actions directly affect the author s reactions. From both examples
in context, we can know that Charley s basic characteristics lay a basis for Steinbeck and how he
interacts with people. This might affect his conversation habits, or the way that Steinbeck sees
America as a whole. On page 85, Steinbeck writes I would have to retrace my way at least twenty
miles, find a vet, have Charley vaccinated, and then return. While reading this section, the reader

Once students on track predictors are established, schools must create systems that are conducive to
student success. While the indicators do not offer information to specific interventions, researchers
have studied those strategies that impact growth in the areas of attendance and course performance.
Mac Iver, Sheldon, Naeger and Clark (2017) summarize that student performance is most impacted
by quality instruction and positive classroom climate. Teacher collaboration impacts each of these
elements and as Allensworth and Easton (2017) state, the quality and quantity of teachers working

Research Strategies
In this study, there will be a focus on two groups of students: those graduating high school and those
entering high school in the 2017 18 school year. A quantitative study will examine the on track
status of these students over the course of their years in high school. Given these on track rates and
consistency among the rates, the cohort graduation rate will be assessed for numbers of students
who graduate, are accepted to post secondary education, those who enroll and over time persist
toward completion of a college degree. Data will be collected from historic data that is available to
the school in regard to grades, attendance and overall GPA throughout semesters and over time.
Acceptance rate information will be collected through surveys and interviews, and persistence rates
will be collected through the use of interviews and evaluation of student transcripts. The second
group of students will be the recipients of targeted strategies and interventions to support their
remaining on track given their status at the end of their eighth grade year. Qualitative data above
will be supported by survey and interview results of teachers and individual students experiences
with each intervention.
Justification for Methodology Decisions The use of quantitative data is necessary for the tracking
of on track success, as well as supporting the effectiveness of strategy implementation. The

Conditions of the Skeletal System: Osteogenesis Imperfecta
The skeletal system is one of the body s most important support systems. When anomalies occur
within the bone structure, the entire body suffers. One such anomaly is the condition known as
osteogenesis imperfecta or brittle bone disease. Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a hereditary,
genetic disorder of the bones and connective tissues that is most known for causing fragile, brittle
bones which can break hundreds of times in one s lifetime. This rare disease occurs in
approximately 1 in every 12,000 15,000 births (Knipe et al., n.d.) and affects between 20,000 and
50,000 people here in the United States (Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, 2015).
The majority of osteogenesis imperfecta cases are caused by a mutation in the genetic coding of
type 1 collagen (Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, 2015). More specifically, the mutation is
found in the left handed helix formed by [the] intertwining of pro alpha1 or pro alpha2 chains of
the type 1 collagen fibers [or COL 1A1 and COL 1A2] (Rush et al., 2015). Collagen is a major
protein of the body s connective tissue. Type I collagen fibers are found in the bones, organ
capsules, fascia, cornea, sclera, tendons, meninges, and dermis (Rush et al., 2015).
There are autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive forms of OI that causes the production of

to believe what you feel. Morrie stated, And if you are ever going to have other people trust you,
you must feel that you can trust them too even when you re in the dark. Even when you re

Morrie is always looking at life through a different perspective such as when he realized that he

Why We Need The Military
We must never forget why we have, and why we need our military. Our armed forces exist solely
to ensure our nation is safe, so that each and every one of us can sleep soundly at night, knowing
we have guardians at the gate, said Allen West,a retired Army lieutenant colonel and a former
member of the House of Representatives. He explained America s need for a strong military
perfectly in this quote. The United Statesdepends on their military to protect them from all different
kinds of threats like cyber warfare or terrorist attacks.
In order to see why an increase in military spending is needed, one must look at the damaged
equipment, the need for new and improved equipment and then look at what it would take to defeat
ISIS.
After the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the amount of damaged equipment was immense. The
Army and the Marine Corps lost about 40 percent of their ground equipment from the wars in Iraq
and Afghanistan. The military still needs to replace some of the damaged equipment from the end
of the Iraq war in 2011. Some of the vehicles got blasted by bombs, others got covered up by desert

utility of Apple, however, is that it does provide a framewo rk within which we can discuss the
significant changes that have occurred across the global economy in recent decades. Apple s
products are assembled in massive factory complexes in China, run by Foxxconn, which also
handles the production of consumer elec tronics for many other large players in the industry.
The success of Apple Corp can be traced to majorly to some of the economic conditions
discussed in this report. In section 1, Apple was able to minimize labour cost in it production by
setting up assembly plants in parts of Asia where labour are cheaper compare to the US. In
section 2, economic of scale was discussed as the cost advantages exploited by expanding the

Chesapeake Police Officer Allison Ostman
According to the probable cause statement filed on September 26, 2016, by Chesapeake Police
Officer Allison Ostman, the following occurred in the city of Chesapeake: On September 18,
2016, at approximately 03:30, I made contact with a suspicious occupied vehicle at the
intersection of Drum Creek Road and Taylor Road that was occupied by several juveniles to
include a Mr. Darren DelPapa. Due to an odor of marijuana in the vehicle, I performed a search
of the vehicle for illegal narcotics. During my search, I located a plastic bag containing (1) 30 mg
tablet of codeine underneath Mr. DelPapa s seat. I mirandized him at approximately 0348 hours, to
which Mr. DelPapa stated the pill belonged to him.
Darren stated he could have avoided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The charges were taken under advisement for a period of one year, and Darren was allowed to
enroll in the Commonwealth Challenge program in Virginia Beach. He was ordered onto probation,
at any time he was not in the Commonwealth Challenge program. Program requirements of the
Commonwealth Challenge program do not allow individuals to be on probation as a condition of

2017. Within the first few days, there were so many fights and chaos, that the program called
Darren s guardians to come pick him up and take him home until the situation calmed down. Darren
was jumped on at least two occasions and both he and the Freemans decided he should not return.
Because Commonwealth Challenge is a voluntary program, he was not required to return to the
program according to the Chesapeake probation officer.
Darren currently lives with his siblings and his legal guardians, Theresa and Charlie Freeman. The
Freemans have had legal custody of Darren since he was 2 ВЅ years old. Theresa Freeman was

Clabsi And Clabse Infection
Background or Introduction CLABSI is the acronym for central line associated blood stream
infection. CLABSI are the third leading cause of hospital acquired infection (HAI). Central line
associated infections are life threatening and is a common risk factor associated with central
venous catheters (CVC). Peripherally inserted central catheters are a common type of CVC used.
Research is conducted to determine whether there is a benefit to reducing CLABSI with use of
PICC lines that are coated with antimicrobials. This research compares the impact of chlorhexidine
impregnated verses non chlorhexidine PICC with the risk of CLABSI and VTE development in
patients that are immune suppressed, critical care or trauma patients. Review of the... Show more

The randomization was conducted by a third party responsible for mixing and selecting subjects
for each unit. Daily assessment of the PICC dressing was completed by a study investigator. The
selected groups were assigned to group A, for CHG PICC or B, non CHG PICC. Insertion of all
PICC lines was completed by the PICC insertion team. CDC guidelines were used to diagnose
CLABSI with VTE diagnosis based upon assessment and diagnostic testing. Data Analysis In
this study, 167 participants completed the study. The groups were divided into 80 randomized
that received PICC with HCG as the experimental group and 87 randomized that received PICC
without HCG as the control group. An a priori sample size calculation validation using CLABSI
infection site from the three types of patients was used with 30 experimental and 30 controls.
The sample was described using descriptive statistics. The Shapiro Wilk test was used to check
for normalcy. To assess for differences in patient age and duration of PICC line placement the
Whitney U test was used. The Fisher exact test was used to assess for significant differences in
post insertion bleeding rate and to assess for associations between the groups regarding CLASBI,
VTE and post insertion bleeding. Use of the CDC definition of CLABSI as well as utilization of for
verification by the infection specialist maintained the validity of this study. VTE determination was

Lucas County Public Transportation
Public Transportation For Lucas County
Lucas County doesn t have an efficient form of public transportation and is in desperate need of
one. In modern America the automobile is a necessary part of life; there is almost no way to get
from point A to B without a car. Unfortunately, many people don t have access to a personal
automobile and are left to depend on unreliable, inefficient, public transportation. The most
common form of public transportation in Lucas County today is the bus, although on paper busses
are viable, in reality they ultimately fall short of what is required of public transportation. Today
there are more cars on the road than ever before, subsequently there is more traffic than ever before
meaning these busses are subject ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently strides are being made by Lucas County and partnering organizations to create cab
services that offer transportation for people working jobs with hours outside of typical bus
schedules. Tina Skeldon Wozniak, president of the Lucas County Commissioners in an interview
with The ToledoBlade said: It s an area that we ve all known has been a problem, but there wasn t
a solution attached to this problem yet, she went on to say: Lucas County is providing $25,000
for the program, and ProMedica, Owens Corning, Black White Transportation, and Lucas
Metropolitan Housing Authority each contributed $5,000. Mercy Health gave $2,500, Mathews
Ford Oregon gave $500, and Mosser Construction gave $250, for a total of $48,250. Though this
is a valiant effort and will go a long way to help those in need of transportation, it still won t solve
all of the problems caused by ineffective public

Employee Rights For Pregnant Women
Employee rights are some of the most controversial topics among healthcare right now. Institutions
that provide employment to citizens must now abide by relatively intense discrimination laws that
seek to prevent discrimination of prospective employees based on race, sex, religion, national
origin, physical disability, and age by employers. In addition, the Supreme Court of the United
States that supported the right for people to define and express their identity, implemented a law
that seeks to prevent employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. Once an employee is
hired, there are further discriminatory laws that prevent bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment,
termination, compensation, retaliation, and various types of harassment. Now more than ever are
laws and constitutions being edited to meet the standards of the evolving evolution. In my research
paper, I will discuss five controversial topics in employee rights which include: Employee Rights
for Pregnant Women; Employee Rights and Responsibilities in Sexual Harassment; Employee
Privacy Rights and Drug and/or Alcohol Testing; The Rights of the Employee as Patient; Employee
e mail privacy rights in the private sector workplace. According to the United States Department of
Labor, which has evolved tremendously to complement the ever evolving century, discusses major
points that have effected the rights of employees. Limits on drug testing; freedom from
discrimination when an employee is part of a

United Airlines Stakeholders Essay
Another stakeholder involved was the customers using United Airlines because they deserved to
know what was occurring between the ex CEO and Samson. Also, the workers were a stakeholder
as well in this situation. There are plenty of cities around the United States that do not offer
airfare. As a result, when customers hear that there was a customized flight for Samson this can
make them distraught and angry at United. Also, they can possibly lose business as well because
customers feel they are not the main priority in United s business plan. According to Bergen
Record, the flight from Newark to Columbia ranked in the bottom 3 percent of all commercial
passenger routes nationwide (Clampet). Also, the flight had a 51 percent average passenger... Show

For instance, United created a new flight for Samson. However, no one ever knew that was the
exact reason why until all the allegations came out. The ex CEO effortlessly could have said he
wanted to experiment with a new flight with no justification besides saying that he was testing
the flight out for business reasons. Thus, that is how airlines test if certain cities will create
enough revenue to keep that flight going. In United Airlines case they exercised their ability to
create new flights in their own favor. Companies that can exercise that same ability can be
creating deals with businessmen in exchange for an accessible flight that is convenient for them.
Today, traveling is essesstial to get from one meeting to the next. Therefore, businessmen are
always looking for an edge to get to meetings quicker than usual. Overall, it is alarming because it
is illegal and could be dangerous for business. For instance, if someone in power asks an airline to
cut business with a certain town in return for something the airline could find useful than it will be
unethical for this to be done. Obviously, most airlines do not go to this extreme to bend the law.
However, there are always outliers in a group who will try to create a competitive advantage
anyway possible. Therefore, businessmen need to act ethical so they do not get caught in a
situation like one the

International Contracts And International Sale Contracts
A conflict of laws is a major issue that usually arises in international commercial transactions.
International characters in the transaction create questions, such as which court has jurisdiction
over the case, which law is applicable to the case and will the judgment enforceable. One possible
way to avoid the risk of a conflict of laws is to harmonise laws relating to international sales into
uniform law or a convention for worldwide adoption. The United NationsConvention on Contracts
for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), known as the Vienna Convention, is one of the results
from the harmonisation of international trade law. Although there are many supports to this
convention, the argument of its effectiveness still continues and some countries still not ratify.
International sale contracts are not quite similar to domestic sale contracts as the international
character cannot be found in domestic contracts. The first character is the movement of goods
which travel from one state to another state, no matter where the seller s and the buyer s places of
business are. Another character is the different places of business of both parties which means that
both parties have different legal systems. Involving with property, parties or events located in more
than one jurisdiction and the laws of those jurisdictions are different, a conflict of laws issue might
arise in a dispute between parties. The differences between laws of each country also create
uncertainty in

Current And Projected Healthcare Applications Of 3d...
Introduction
Three dimensional (3D) printing, also known as rapid prototyping (RP) and additive manufacturing
(AM), is a transformational technology that is anticipated to revolutionize the healthcare industry.
Current and projected healthcare applications of 3D printing include: customized prosthetics;
personalized surgical implants; drug delivery, pre operative and educational anatomical models; and
tissue and organ engineering. The implications of 3D printing are expected to be considerable and
include benefits such as: improved efficiency and reduced costs; personalized medicine; and
increased collaboration . The implementation of this technology does not come without significant
challenges, however. The healthcare industry is one of the most regulated in the Unites States,
hype can contribute to idealized expectations, biocompatible materials must be identified, and
intellectual property may be difficult to protect as a result of 3D printing. This article reviews
current advances in 3D printing and the current and projected healthcare applications that will
improve quality and decrease costs.
Healthcare in the United States
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, healthcare spending in the United
State grew 3.6 percent in 2013, totaling $2.9 trillion; and accounting for 17.4 percent of the nation

Significance Of Nelson Mandela
The focal point of this investigation assessment will be How significant was Nelson Mandela s
role in the culmination of Apartheid system in South Africa during 20th century? In order to
evaluate Mandela s significance, the investigation is based on his role in each stage of the
consummation of this segregator system by which the white minority in the country wanted to
preserve the power, so they established all kinds of laws that covered, in general, social aspects
during the National Party performance in 1948. Thus, the letters from Mandela to Hendrik
Verwoerd regarded as the mastermind behind socially engineering and implementing the racial
policies of apartheid, and the Speech to the Foreign Policy Association are sources of a peculiar
importance to this investigation, due to the evidence of struggle and resignation that Mandela feel
as a leader. People forget how hard the struggle was to be for decades afterwards. The resistance
and revolution had been closed down, leaders such as Mandela imprisoned, tortured, banned or...

Standardize Work
Standardized work is one of the most powerful but least used lean tools. By documenting the
current best practice, standardized work forms the baseline for kaizen or continuous improvement.
As the standard is improved, the new standard becomes the baseline for further improvements, and
so on. Improving standardized work is a never ending process. Basically, standardized work consists
of three elements: Takt time, which is the rate at which products must be made in a process to meet
customer demand The precise work sequence in which an operator performs tasks within takt time
The standard inventory, including units in machines, required to keep the process operating

At Toyota workers are encouraged every single day to come up with improvement suggestions.
And as their new ideas are tested, accepted and implemented the standard worksheets are
updated. Consider as you work in your Kaizen Groups how to make your decisions visible to all,
how to prepare a standardized work form, and where the form should be displayed. http:/
/www.leanblog.org/2010/02/my thoughts on standardized work/ I ve written about many of
these ideas and themes before in various blog posts, but I wanted to consolidate my thoughts on
the Lean concept of standardized work in a single place. This is partly for my own personal
reference (and future linking), but also can prompt some discussion amongst my friends, the
Lean Blog readers. What I m documenting here is consistent with what I ve been teaching and
coaching people on in healthcare the last five years, especially. The concepts described here are
directly influenced by Toyota (especially the book Toyota Talent: Developing Your People the
Toyota Way) and, I believe, is very consistent with what s expressed in Dt. Atul Gawande s The
Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right). These points are also expressed in the chapter on
Standardized Work in my book, Lean Hospitals: Improving Quality, Patient Safety, and Employee
Satisfaction. This is a looong post, so the quick bullets: Standard IZED Don t standardize for the

personal that is not in protocols; the two men were following an order given to them by a
superior officer. At Guantanamo Bay orders are taken very seriously. A quote from the film, A
Few Good Men, states they are not permitted to disobey orders, showing that the two men had no
other choice because they were ordered to do it (Reiner). The men followed through with a code

Following commands is a very important part of keeping order. Now imagine a row of blue clad
Navy soldiers, carrying out drills in perfect unison, if just one person were to break orders and
fail to correctly initiate their portion of the drill it makes every singular other soldier look bad,
including themselves, thus creating an incentive to not break orders and not mess up no matter
what the situation. Furthermore, should someone always follow orders? In the case of Downey
and Dawson following an order ended up getting an innocent man killed. Milgram points out that
the ordinary person who shocked the victim did so out of a sense of obligation an impression of
his duties as a subject (par 96). Dawson and Downey carried out the requested code red because
they felt obligated. As a result, they were obligated to ignore their own personal morals and do
the commands of another person. Another explanation is provided by MacDonald is the mission
in way to get the job done might at times cause a certain degree of sadism. (par. 8) So, it seems
that over time soldiers derive satisfaction from acting out violent orders and because of this and the
combined effects of war, they seem to disregard other humans physical pain which in turn makes
taking orders that much easier. This disregard for

Los Angeles Riots Sociology
The Los Angeles riots in 1992 did not stem from the beating of Rodney King but stemmed from a
much larger problem. Individuals were frustrated with being placed in a social hierarchy based on
the color of their skin. The beating of Rodney King was the cherry on top for the bottled up
frustration people felt. In the United States, there is a social hierarchy, and the judicial system
works differently depending on where the individual is placed within the hierarchy. The riots were
a non constructive way to fight for equal rights within the judicial system, but many individuals
were fed up with society telling them where they should be placed. A social hierarchy has existed
since the beginning of time. The inner workings of the overabundance... Show more content on

Suppressing negative emotions can cause mental health concerns, but individuals with low
social power and low social status may use these strategies to avoid conflict (Langner, Social
Hierarchy And Depression: The Role Of Emotion Suppression ). The social hierarchy affects
mental health in part through a process of emotion suppression. It also does not help that some
scholars suggest that the more individuals aim at climbing the social hierarchy, the more society
s hierarchy gets strong (Bardoscia, The Social Climbing Game ). Pepi Leistyna states in her
Social Class and Entertainment television article that there are harsh realities that the poor and
working class of color face, but television and other media outlets show that the middle class is
open to everyone (Leistyna 3). The middle class has not been open to everyone, and the social
hierarchy that has been the unwritten law of where an individual is placed in society can explain
this. The hierarchy is not only destructive for individuals of color, but even European females and
European families who have not came from money. It is a frustrating reality that seems never to be
changing and only getting worse. The country is dividing into the two extremes. There is the rich
who are getting richer and the poor who are getting poorer. The majority of individuals who are

Civil Law And Common Law System VIII lawyer in civil law and common law system B lawyers in civil law systems When students graduate from law school, if they want to get a license from law firm to practice law, they have some conditions, but it is different from the common law system. Lawyers still represent the interests of their clients in civil proceedings, but have a little central role, if we compare the common law systems, however, their functions commonly contain advising clients on points of law and preparing legal pleadings for filing with the court, but the importance of oral argument, in court presentations and active lawyer in court are minimized when compared to a common law system. Moreover, non litigation legal tasks, such as will preparation and contract drafting, may be left to quasi legal professionals who serve businesses and private individuals, and who may not have a post university legal education or be licensed to practice before courts. If the law student want to become lawyer in civil law system is different from one country to another country. • 3. Free Trade and the Economy of Canada Essay Free Trade and the Economy of Canada Free trade is the act of exchanging goods or services between countries for minimal tariffs or fees. Between countries, this is a method of exchange that is gaining more and more popularity. By importing and exporting for low fees, free trade is an efficient way to cover up weaknesses in the country and gain on strengths. Free trade is a very controversial topic that is viewed upon differently by many people in many different countries. Some oppose free trade; they feel it will cause production losses or low employment in their country. Many countries also embrace it and believe it helps create a strong and healthy nation. They join in free trade organizations or draft free trade agreements with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The comparative advantage for computers, then, would go to Japan because they are more efficient at making them. They produce more computers and give up less than Canada does. Because Japan has the comparative advantage in producing computers in that example, free trade would maximize both country s production by having Japan specialize in producing computers and Canada specialize in producing cars. Then, both countries could trade the products they specialize in for the other, at a fair rate to be determined separately. Without free trade, each country had a bigger limit on what good they could produce. With trade, both countries still have a limit to what the countries can produce, but since they are trading what they are best at producing, they are maximizing the total numbers of goods in the country. Thus by trade at a fair, un taxed rate, they are capable of having more goods and services in their country and any given time. Both countries are able to produce the best they can and thus from trade, they receive the most of the other good as they possibly can. This is known as the law of comparative advantage (Mankiw, Kneebone, McKenzie Rowe 55). In Canada, the law of comparative advantage produces enormous benefits for both consumers and producers. First, by establishing trade connections with other countries, it allows Canada to specialize in producing what it is best in producing. No longer does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Soviet Union Essay The Soviet Union The Soviet Union sparked its first paths of development towards a communist economy through a five year plan in 1938. The plan called for government controls and government regulation for their workers. This planned also controlled prices and wages for the workers to control the standard of living and to keep the needs of the common man minimal. The government wanted control of all private industries so that they can push for a rapid industrial society. Benefits such as health care and public housing were terminated to help the Soviet government with their plan. Gorbachev was still trying for economic reforms. Small business enterprises began to branch out and with new laws in place more businesses were in control of themselves without that much government regulations. These businesses folded and inflation became a horrid realization for the soviets. The soviet economic plan was failing and was not showing any signs of revival. It was not until the breaking up of the Soviet Union in the early 90 s where the Soviet economy would show signs of hope. Compared to the theories of Marx, the Soviet Union did not begin their economic development in the way, which Marx theorized. He believed that the economy needed to be collectively ran and owned rather than in private hands. He also believed that education should be free for all children in public schools and that benefits for workers should be in place. His overall ideas were that #8230; The revolutionary overthrow of capitalism and the Bourgeoisie state by a mass up rising of the urban working class, the Proletariat . • 6. Constraints Of Empire Nationalism equals political and economic modernization [which] which really ends up being a perverse trick. This equation serves to mobilize popular forces and galvanize a social movement, but where does the movement lead and what interest does it serve? In most cases it involves a delegated struggle, in which the modernization project also establishes in power the new ruling group that is charged with carrying it out. The revolution is thus offered up, hands and feet bound, to the new bourgeoisie (Hardt 133). • 7. Rogue Trader Rogue Trader How many times can you go double or nothing before you wind up a billion pounds in debt? In Rogue Trader , a film based on the life on Nick Leeson, we get a glimpse into this real world dilemma. The drama begins with Leeson s promotion to general manager of Barings Futures Singapore. As general manager, he faces a personal quandary and must decide whether to cover for a friend and coworker who made an honest mistake (one that resulted in the loss of a substantial amount of money) or to turn the same person in to face termination. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, throughout the movie, almost no top executives came to Singapore to make sure that the new business operation was running smoothly. Lack of training to recognize risk was also a problem since Leeson s assistant, Risselle, was not competent enough to question or whistle blow on the creation of the 88888 account and other questionable actions asked of her, even though they were obviously high risk. One major problem was the lack of an early detection system in place for risky behavior auditors were only present in new market AFTER there was a flag in the system, not as the new market was being set up. Why was there not an external auditor or consultant that was contracted to specifically deal with risk assessment for employees? More generally Barings Future Singapore is inherently risky because SIMEX is an emerging market, one where nobody can predict the rise and fall. This becomes obvious when the stock market crashes as a result of the Kobe Earthquake in the movie. Furthermore, risk increases as business increases (volume). An example of this is when Leeson takes on Beaumarchais as a client, knowing his business volume was a quarter of the SIMEX market. That is too much volume for a fledgling market. Control Activities is another area that was grossly overlooked in Rogue Trader. Firstly, Barings board members delegated auditing tasks to staff that didn t follow through with the entire process. This is a story about a young African American named Ralph Ellison, who is trying to be accepted by white society. He is offered the opportunity to read his speech he had written for his graduation at a gathering of the town s leading white citizens (p.286). Ralph Ellison is told that he should partake in the Battle Royal before giving his speech as part of the entertainment. They humiliate the boys by making them watch a nude woman dance before the fight. And then they force them to pick up fake coins off of an electrified rug. Shocking them and getting enjoyment from their pain. This is a very racist story. But unfortunately it truly reflects on how these individuals were treated during this time. The big shots only want to be controlling racists, and get enjoyment from this. They will not accept any behavior from the African Americans except submission. The idea of social equality between them and the African Americans is quite appalling for them (p.297). They are strictly set against this and will probably do what ever it takes to prevent this from happening. I liked the ambition of Ralph, his determination to make sure that he is heard. He really feels as though his speech will make a huge impact for his people in his community. He is trying to become accepted into a society that does not want to accept him or his people. I agree with Paula Caudle, Naomi Lancaster, and Andy Stamper Students, University of North Carolina at Pembroke (http:/ /www.uncp.edu/home/canada/work/allam/1914 /lit/ellison.htm) in their analysis of the blindfold in the story. Exclusive breastfeeding helps to develop your baby s immune system in a healthy way. Your breast milk contains antibodies your baby needs to to fight off germs that cause infections. Breastfed babies are also less likely to develop food allergies. When your baby is introduced to foods other than breast milk too soon, his or her body is more likely to interpret that food as an allergen, making antibodies against it. Air power s contribution to the allied victory did not represent the ultimate fulfillment of the predictions of interwar theorists. Even though air power had an important role, and many lessons and doctrines emerged after this period, the visions of Douhet, Mitchell and others did not materialized as they expected. In this paper, I will discuss three of the main prophecies: the effectiveness of the strategic bombing, the ability of air power to win the war by itself, and the futility of the use of air power for defense of territory. Strategic bombing was the main prophecy emerged after World War I(WWI). It would avoid the bloody and slow process of ground invasion to hit the enemy will to fight. Theorists offered efficiency and speed instead of attrition and carnage. In the industrial societies, destroying the weapon industrial plants and frightening its work force in theory implied leaving the enemy without means to fight.2 However, during the first campaigns of WWII was evident that it was not so simple to reach the targets.3 Thus; the prediction reflected an optimist perspective, obviating the difficulties before arriving to the point. From this excerpt, we can understand that Steinbeck sees Charley not only as a dog, but as his friend. He seems to admire Charley s sense of character, as it lights up the environment around him. The quality of their friendship is important throughout the first section of this novel because it will indicate how the rest of their journey will layout, especially during demanding times. From the first example, we can infer that Charley s character towards Steinbeck comforts him. The traits that the author sees in Charley helps him to feel accompanied rather than lonely during his travels. In establishing contact with strange people, Charley is my ambassador... A child can do the same thing, but a dog is better. (Steinbeck 65). From this line, Charley is described as one who can do things a human might do for Steinbeck, but of better quality. Steinbeck suggests that his companion is also his ambassador, making it appear that Charley s actions directly affect the author s reactions. From both examples in context, we can know that Charley s basic characteristics lay a basis for Steinbeck and how he interacts with people. This might affect his conversation habits, or the way that Steinbeck sees America as a whole. On page 85, Steinbeck writes I would have to retrace my way at least twenty miles, find a vet, have Charley vaccinated, and then return. Research Strategies In this study, there will be a focus on two groups of students: those graduating high school and those entering high school in the 2017 18 school year. A quantitative study will examine the on track status of these students over the course of their years in high school. Given these on track rates and consistency among the rates, the cohort graduation rate will be assessed for numbers of students who graduate, are accepted to post secondary education, those who enroll and over time persist toward completion of a college degree. Data will be collected from historic data that is available to the school in regard to grades, attendance and overall GPA throughout semesters and over time. Acceptance rate information will be collected through surveys and interviews, and persistence rates will be collected through the use of interviews and evaluation of student transcripts. The second group of students will be the recipients of targeted strategies and interventions to support their remaining on track given their status at the end of their eighth grade year. Qualitative data above will be supported by survey and interview results of teachers and individual students experiences with each intervention. Justification for Methodology Decisions The use of quantitative data is necessary for the tracking of on track success, as well as supporting the effectiveness of strategy implementation. When anomalies occur within the bone structure, the entire body suffers. One such anomaly is the condition known as osteogenesis imperfecta or brittle bone disease. Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a hereditary, genetic disorder of the bones and connective tissues that is most known for causing fragile, brittle bones which can break hundreds of times in one s lifetime. This rare disease occurs in approximately 1 in every 12,000 15,000 births (Knipe et al., n.d.) and affects between 20,000 and 50,000 people here in the United States (Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, 2015). The majority of osteogenesis imperfecta cases are caused by a mutation in the genetic coding of type 1 collagen (Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, 2015). More specifically, the mutation is found in the left handed helix formed by [the] intertwining of pro alpha1 or pro alpha2 chains of the type 1 collagen fibers [or COL 1A1 and COL 1A2] (Rush et al., 2015). Collagen is a major protein of the body s connective tissue. Type I collagen fibers are found in the bones, organ capsules, fascia, cornea, sclera, tendons, meninges, and dermis (Rush et al., 2015). Our armed forces exist solely to ensure our nation is safe, so that each and every one of us can sleep soundly at night, knowing we have guardians at the gate, said Allen West,a retired Army lieutenant colonel and a former member of the House of Representatives. He explained America s need for a strong military perfectly in this quote. The United Statesdepends on their military to protect them from all different kinds of threats like cyber warfare or terrorist attacks. In order to see why an increase in military spending is needed, one must look at the damaged equipment, the need for new and improved equipment and then look at what it would take to defeat ISIS. After the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the amount of damaged equipment was immense. The Army and the Marine Corps lost about 40 percent of their ground equipment from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. • 45. International Contracts And International Sale Contracts A conflict of laws is a major issue that usually arises in international commercial transactions. International characters in the transaction create questions, such as which court has jurisdiction over the case, which law is applicable to the case and will the judgment enforceable. One possible way to avoid the risk of a conflict of laws is to harmonise laws relating to international sales into uniform law or a convention for worldwide adoption. The United NationsConvention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), known as the Vienna Convention, is one of the results from the harmonisation of international trade law. Although there are many supports to this convention, the argument of its effectiveness still continues and some countries still not ratify. International sale contracts are not quite similar to domestic sale contracts as the international character cannot be found in domestic contracts. The first character is the movement of goods which travel from one state to another state, no matter where the seller s and the buyer s places of business are. Another character is the different places of business of both parties which means that both parties have different legal systems. The men followed through with a code red rather than disobeying direct orders, which is against their beliefs as a unit. So sometimes following an order can cause a series of unfortunate events or worse to happen, but it is not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following commands is a very important part of keeping order. Now imagine a row of blue clad Navy soldiers, carrying out drills in perfect unison, if just one person were to break orders and fail to correctly initiate their portion of the drill it makes every singular other soldier look bad, including themselves, thus creating an incentive to not break orders and not mess up no matter what the situation. Furthermore, should someone always follow orders? In the case of Downey and Dawson following an order ended up getting an innocent man killed. It also does not help that some scholars suggest that the more individuals aim at climbing the social hierarchy, the more society s hierarchy gets strong (Bardoscia, The Social Climbing Game ). Pepi Leistyna states in her Social Class and Entertainment television article that there are harsh realities that the poor and working class of color face, but television and other media outlets show that the middle class is open to everyone (Leistyna 3). The middle class has not been open to everyone, and the social hierarchy that has been the unwritten law of where an individual is placed in society can explain this. The hierarchy is not only destructive for individuals of color, but even European females and European families who have not came from money. It is a frustrating reality that seems never to be changing and only getting worse. The country is dividing into the two extremes. There is the rich who are getting richer and the poor who are getting poorer. The majority of individuals who are getting poorer are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
