2. Introduction
Every day we have needs, but needs must be expressed in
words, so we bring expressions that will be useful on
occasions like this. It is good that you are prepared to give
your opinion in English and have an appropriate
vocabulary to express your point of view.
Like so many other everyday situations, giving your opinion
in English is easy if you have enough tools to resolve your
speech. If not, you may find yourself in trouble and unable
to express yourself properly.
3. To show opinion
How to express your opinion in English formally. You may find yourself in a
situation where you must give your opinion in English but in a more formal way.
Give your opinion in a more formal way. This could be in a work meeting or a
debate:
• To my way of thinking it's very
important
• As see it…
• Personally
• I have no doubt that...!
• I'd like to make a point.!
• Would like to add something.
• l'd just like to say that.
4. To my way of thinking
bees are very important
for the indirect reproduction
of plantas and flowers.
Examples:
I would like to add
something
about white matter containing
nerve fibers and gray matter
containing neuronal cells and
nerve fibers.
7. To express that
you agree with
something
- That’s just what I was thinking…
/ Es justo lo que estaba
pensando
- I agree entirely / Estoy
totalmente de acuerdo
To express that
you disagree
- I'm sorry to disagree with you,
but… / Siento no estar de
acuerdo contigo, pero..…
- We have different views about
that / Tenemos diferente opinión
sobre eso
8. These expressions that we indicate
below are ideal for expressing your
opinion in a more academic context.
Other constructions to
comment on in English
9. They will be perfect in written
texts or in situations in which
you have to argue to support
your ideas.
It would seem that… /
Pareciera que…
It could be argued that… / Se
pudiera argumentar que
10. Confirm whats’s understood
For this, we can also know different variants to say “I understand”, even if we
have something positive as a concept, there are different ways of expressing it
depending on the situation.
Examples
● I get you- used to tell a person that you got their point.
● I see where you’re coming from – similar to the first example but denoting
greater empathy.
● I hear you- used to express that you are attentive to what the person is
saying.
● Of course- used to say that you agree with the situation.
