Bromophenol Blue Experiment
The plot that is most linear according to the line of best fit is Figure 2, f(x) = 0.00310x 0.4269 with
a R^2 value of 0.9973. Comparatively, Figure 1 (zeroth reaction order) has a best fit line of f(x) =
0.00210(x) + 1.3426 with a R^2 value of 0.9094, and Figure 3 (second reaction order) has a best fit
line of f(x) = 0.00550x+0.2716 with a R^2 value of 0.9559. So, my data suggests that Figure 2, rate
law 1, is the most linear, and hence the correct order of reaction can be assumed first order with
respect to Bromophenol blue. Thus, the slope of Figure 2 s line is 0.00310 and therefore the k
value for Bromophenol blue order of reaction is the slope, or 0.0031 sec 1. However, for hydroxide

Also it is important to consider the spectrometers used in this lab, which had capped out above an
initial absorbance of 2 and higher in the lab, which skewed all future readings since it was
impossible to record from that value, which led to inaccurate readouts for the absorbance values. A
major source of error was that a different volumetric pipette was used to measure the initial
absorbance and in Trial 1a than the micropipette used in the other four trials. Though both
volumetric pipettes were 1 mL, the possible miniscule differences between the two glassware could
have created a significant difference in the tiny volumes. The experiment could have been improved
by use of a UV/Vis rather than a Spec, which could improve the precision and accuracy of the
measured absorbances and thus decrease the uncertainty. Additionally, measuring the absorbances
for a longer duration of time so that a significant deviation from linearity could be observed could
decrease the uncertainty in the reaction order with respect to Bromophenol blue. The best
alternative could involve measuring manipulated concentrations directly against time instead of
absorbance since the values would be in our control instead of in the machine s control, which
tended to show inevitable

North and South American Yanomamo Culture Essay
There are many differences between the South American Yanomamo culture
and the North American culture that we have adapted to, but just at there is
culture diversity between us, we have some similarities. The ethnography,
which is chose, was Yanomamo written by Napoleon A. Chagnon,
anthropologists. Chagnon tells us how to it was to live among the Yanomamo
family, political and warfare system versus the American Culture. The
Yanomamo are of patrilineal culture, male oriented and very sexist. For some
reason they believe that, they are superior to women, so do some men in
American culture. However, they are jolted back reality when the law gets
involved, unfortunately Yanomamo men don t have this wake up call.

a natural contraceptive. But if a new infant is born it will starve to death,
because the older sibling would drink most of the milk, specially if it is a
female infant. Male children grow up to be hunters and worriers. Female
children although inferior (according to the Yanomamo) are valuable objects
of trade and political alliances. A confusing aspect of the Yanomamo
marriages is, even though polygamy is freely practiced so is monogamy but
only for the women. Adultery, just like in American culture, is inexcusable to
the Yanomamo. In this topic similarities make a breakthrough in both
cultures. If relationship between an American woman and an American man
goes putrescent and the woman becomes promiscuous violence is only
expected by the man. The problem is assault and battery charges can get you
into a lot of trouble, not to mention how much you would have to pay a
lawyer. But Yanomamo mean get away with their violent retaliation for being
disrespected because again there are no laws protecting Yanomamo women
not that American women are always protected by the law, it s just a myth.
The punishment for the Yanomamo women who is only suspected of having
an affair with another man is being beaten with a club, burned, shot with a
barbed arrow, or the man decides to detach a limb (ex. Arm, leg...) with an
ax or machete. Even though it seems as though women are expendable is this
culture she may have some

Kids In America Analysis
somadjinn.deviantart.com somadjinn.deviantart.com Fourth of July will soon be upon us, and
that means celebrating with barbeques, fireworks and good music. Here are the top ten songs
about America to get you in the mood (FYI, I left out America by Simon Garfunkel, as I put that
on another list.) Number Ten: Kids in America by The Muffs. Kids in America is a song by The
Muffs, off of the 1995 soundtrack to Clueless. Originally the song was done by Kim Wilde, off of
her 1981 self titled debut (however, I chose the version by The Muffs as it s a bit grittier.) Lyrics
include, outside a new day is dawning / outside suburbia s sprawling everywhere / I don t want
to go baby / New York to east California / there s a new wave coming I warn you / we re the kids
in America / everybody live for the music go round / we re the kids in America. This song simply
seems to be about how the kids in America are who decide what music becomes popular; it also
mentions a new wave, which could easily be referring to the new wave music of the 80s that would
become very prevalent in the music scene. Number Nine: American Woman by The Guess Who.

This is probably the most obviously dismal track on this list, as it seems to be about the
homeless life in America. The song begins, oh this hurricane s blowing us thin / this never
ending swirl of American sin / where I strayed on my knees to a bottomless cage / where they
throw dollar bills and hope to be saved / the poshest scarf on the warmest day / it s enough to
make you give up, she says. Other lyrics include, the hardest thing next to diamond rigs / is the
coats we have to wear just to make ends meet and let s just lie here as they paint us black. The
song ends with, the nervous ticks only the holy get / the country treats as the cities get sick / the
lunatics and the Harlem tricks / the country treats as we all get

How Is Hong Kong Independent Essay
Hong Kong Independent

This historical social problem bothered us for years. Hong Kong is the capital of our country has
always proclaimed himself to be an independent country. Those videos cause a heated debate on the
Internet, and I saw the Chinese young people s patriotism. I can understand the mood of the
University of Hong Kong s Chinese students who re from mainland China. They experienced a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Snapchat
on keeping a record of events for the user but Snapchat does not. It almost appears as if Snapchat is
rebelling against the idea of permanence. Snapchat aims to apply through technological means the
temporal time bound paradigm that characterizes oral cultures (Soffer, 2016). An image becomes a
photograph, in part, by having borders. The frame makes the photo. Tellingly, a Snapchat usually
exists unframed, full screen, more moment than an art object. Less than sharing experience trophies
and hoping communicationhappens around them, an ephemeral network leaves the art objects to
fade in favor of focusing on the moments, the experience, the communication; more social than
media, more social than network. (Jurgenson, 2014). The Snapchat users like the idea of a safe
place where they can control what is shared with the world. Experts in the field of communication
state that the ephemeral messaging compels users to do more with less, often generating a better
brand. Snapchat s popularity has helped spur other private messaging apps but none are as
successful as Snapchat. The real time communication protocol is what Snapchat is all about.
Snapchat keeps people connected without it being public. Some individuals seek the privacy
afforded by Snapchat. Snapchat allows the viewer to see the actual face expressions, which allows
for better understanding. Snapchat is very much like a conversation taking place, where you can

Defense Of Insanity
The Butler Committee recommended that proof of severe mental disorder should be sufficient to
negate responsibility. This would create a presumption of no criminal liability where this is proof
of a mental disorder. However, this assumes that a lack of criminal responsibility simply because of
a mental dysfunction is evident, rather than establishing a standard of criminal responsibility. This
questions the application of insanityto all crimes rather than those involving mens rea only.
Another criticism of the defence of insanity is that at a trial involving a plea of insanity there will
be conflicting medical evidence given by both the prosecution and the defence, however the final
decision of whether the D is legally insane or not is

Summary Of Mob Rule In New Orleans By Ida B. Wells
Have you faced racial persecution due to the color of your skin? The time was 1900 s and this was
the nightmare that Ida B. Wells Barnett wrote of in Mob Rule in New Orleans. This is the true
account of Robert Charles as he fights for his life to escape the hands of a lynching mob. This
impassion story collaborates with the witness of this terrifying event that Wells describes. Wells
uses her literary skills to shed light on racial discrimination, media bias, and her personal crusade
for justice to portray this heart wrenching reality of the violent lynching during the 19th century. Ida
B. Wells Barnett wrote Mob Rule in New Orleans to express the discrimination and the hatred that
the African American faced during the 19th century. She suffered discrimination throughout her life
and knew firsthand how society would allow unjust crimes go unpunished. Many African
Americans were discriminated against during this time. The story of... Show more content on

Wells Barnett was an investigative journalist and was involved in researching, reporting,
publishing pamphlets, and eventually campaigning against the historical tragedy known as
lynching. She became aware of these atrocities occurring against African Americans at an
alarming rate in the United States. Wells Barnett had published a total of three pamphlets that
had worked through the half truths and outright lies to uncover the inhumane activity of
lynching mob. In Mob Rule in New Orleans, Wells Barnett stated, Legal sanction was given to
the mob or any man of the mob to kill Charles at sight by the Mayor of New Orleans, who
publicly proclaimed a reward of two hundred and fifty dollars, not for the arrest of Charles, not at
all, but the reward was offered for Charles body, dead or alive. (Wells Barnett 842) This statement
reflects the mindset of the majority of white Americans during this turbulent time. Consequently,
Ida B. Wells Barnett became not just a reporter of the facts, but a crusader for the cause of justice for

A Comparison Of Intertextuality In The Matrix And The Matrix
The Matrix
Intertextuality is the relationship between two texts with the same setting or theme. For example
The Matrix is just one of many films that use more than one intertextuality in the film. By using
intertextuality it helps send messages out that the audience will understand better from the
dialogue. In the film The Matrix the main character Neo (Thomas Anderson), finds out that the
world he is living in is controlled by false intelligence to hide the truth about the real world. Some
references from this film are Alice in Wonderlandand Plato s Allegory of the cave these films are
used because of how both of these films use imaginary worlds and also machinery taking over
society. These films all revolve around one metaphysical question, what is real? and both of these
films have many similarities.
Neo, who is the main character, is trapped in a false existence, which is crated by a computer
program. The Machines created the program also took over the planet. In Plato s Allegory of the
Cave is about a prisoner who is able to understand the difference between the reality of the cave
and the real one out side of the cave. But both of these films revolve around the same
metaphysical question, what is real? there are quite a few similarities that the matrix and the
cave share. One of the biggest similarities is the fact that they both, Neo and the freed prisoner
have to face the acceptance of the truth about themselves. Both of them have to accept the truth
before they can learn the truth and about the essential truths. Neo and the freed prisoner need to
experience proof that the senses are inadequate and that they can be systematically deceived
before they can learn the knowledge they need. Both of the worlds in the stories are controlled
by a greater power. For example, Plato s prisoners live in a cave that is controlled by the leaders,
while Neo lives in a world that is controlled by the matrix. In the end both of the characters realise
that they are just prisoners and were unaware of the reality they thought they know.
Both of these stories have the characters learning new achievements. In the Matrix, neo can learn
physically impossible things once he learns how to manipulate the matrix. And the

A Brief Note On The World Of Greece And Iceland
Bucket List:
What on My Bucket List Most people live busy all the time by doing something in their lives. So,
what do they live for? Indeed, are we living in a dream? Most people would be answer No.
Therefore, we truly need to live the way we really want to do before we die. Thus, I realize, I
should do that what I want to do in my life. For this reason, I made a bucket list with three
categories: personal, academic, and professional. The first thing on my personal bucket list is to
travel to Europe, but above all, I want to go to Greece and Iceland. One day, I watched a Korean
reality travel program Youth over Flowers, which showed young people backpacking with little
money. Therefore, I thought that was how youth should be. Since then, I have been wanting to go
to Greece and Iceland by myself. If I could go there, I would like to go to Santorini Island in
Greece, which is the most beautiful place I have seen on TV, and it looks peaceful with a blue
ocean. Salome M. Krell and David Farrell describe Santorini as an unforgettable beauty when
they say, I . . . have fallen in love with this spellbinding place (3). For this reason, I would like to
go Santorini, and I would like to drink wine on the terrace overlooking the sea; I will feel relaxed
and free. Then, I would like to visit Iceland. Iceland is one of the best places to view the northern
lights, although it is hard to see aurora because of the clouds and weather. The authors of the article

Human Beings Have a Right to Die Essay
Do people have the right to die? Is there, in fact, a right to die? Assisted suicide is a controversial
topic in the public eye today. Individuals choose their side of the controversy based on a number
of variables ranging from their religious views and moral standings to political factors. Several
aspects of this issue have been examined in books, TV shows, movies, magazine articles, and other
means of bringing the subject to the attention of the public. However, perhaps the best way to look
at this issue in the hopes of understanding the motives behind those involved is from the perspective
of those concerned: the terminally ill and the disabled.

In the nursing home, they are understaffed, and do not have the proper understanding of your
condition to care for you as you need to be. Instead, you are left to lie in bed day after day, unable
to use anything but your mind.
Once having a mere glimpse into the lives of the terminally ill or disabled, some are able to
understand their plight; but usually most are not. In most cases, these people are able to take
what they ve been given and deal with it. However, in some cases, some simply can not tolerate
their lives as they are. They feel that the only solution to their problem is to end their lives.
Unfortunately, in some cases, the terminally ill or disabled are not capable of accomplishing this
task by themselves, and are left trapped in a life that they do not want. In these cases, when one
wishes to end his life and is terminally ill, disabled, or otherwise unable to do so independently, he
should have the right to die by assisted suicide. Although most people that are terminally ill or
disabled do not wish to end their lives, there are still those few who do. While examining the issue
of assisted suicide, three facets of the controversy must be considered: the political, the moral, and
the human or compassionate views. By supporting their decision, we support their right to choose
and decide what they want to do with their bodies and their lives, we do not

Four Theories Of Motivation
Over the past years different theories on motivation have been developed. These theories reach
different conclusions on what motivate employees in their workplace. Job satisfaction, motivation,
and reward systems are included in one area of organizational theory. A review of the classical
literature on motivationreveals four major theory areas:
1.Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs;
2.Herzberg s Motivation/Hygiene (two factor) Theory;
3.McGregor s X Y Theories; and
4.McClelland s Need for Assessment Theory.
Maslow states that people are motivated by unmet needs which are in a hierarchical order that
prevents people from being motivated by a need area unless all lower level needs have been met.
Herzberg states that satisfaction and dissatisfaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Robert Johnson Cross Road Blues
Cross Road Blues was recorded in 1936 (Sullivan, 2013) and has been one of the most notable
stories ever told. The track features Robert Johnson himself in a variation of the 12 bar blues
structure as he deviates from the form to bare all emotion. His vocal prowess and slide guitar
mastery is expressed in the usage of microtonal intervals which was common in the style of Delta
Blues. Robert Johnson was a prolific songwriter who died at 27. His life and music was poorly
documented as he did not receive much public recognition during his lifetime. Not much was said
about this legendary musician, he was reported as average in all aspects except his extraordinary
musical talent, indulgence of alcohol as well... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, a connection between the blues and the hoodoo tradition is also seen throughout
history, most notably by Muddy Waters in Hoochie Coochie Man. (Schroeder, 2004) A counter
interpretation can also be made with the context of the socio political environment of
Mississippi in the 1930s. Lynching is an extrajudicial practice carried out as an informal
execution of an alleged criminal. In the 1900s, lynch mobs were a frequent way to highlight the
economic and political differences as the dominant group would suppress their competition in
this way, especially in the south. It was reported that African American men were lynched to
death in Mississippi on a weekly basis. Since 1874, the Jim Crow laws had been established and
stayed in effect until 1975. This legalizes the separation of races in the south of America and
condemned coloured Americans to a second class citizenship (Tischauser, 2012). These conditions
became the source of many blues numbers which often wail the gruesome experiences of victims
of systemic racism such as Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday, as it was a common reaction to perform
songs of protest against racial injustice in juke joints. Artists are often cryptic about their messages
to cloak topics that seemed unsafe to explore. (Santelli,

Factors Affecting Student Success
Factors Affecting Student Success in Associate Degree Nursing Programs Introduction to the
Problem The rate of academic attrition is an overwhelming concern that many associate degree
nursing programs are facing. Undergraduate nursing program attrition rates continue to increase,
despite the high demand for student placement in these programs. High attrition rates in nursing
students of as much as 50% have been reported by some schools in certain states (Benn Pacquiao,
2010). Additionally, as much as one fourth of nursing students across the country are lost through
attrition at some point in their program (Seago, 2012). The problem addressed in this Scholarly

Just like any college student, not all nursing students are well primed to shift to such a difficult
pathway. Much research has been done which has focused on causes of attrition in ADN
programs. Much of this research has studied the predictability of the relationship between
multiple academic and non academic factors attributable to academic success as an ADN student,
as measured by grades and attrition. With a specific focus on reviewing the prerequisite sciences,
the literature search revealed a fissure in knowledge as it relates to ascertaining prerequisite
biological science courses as being statistically predictive indicators of ADN students academic
success (Griffiths, Bevil, O Connor, Wieland, 1995; Jordan Reid, 1997; Potolsky, Cohen, Saylor,
2003; Seago, Keane, Chen, Spetz, Grumbach, 2012; Wong Wong, 1999). Pathophysiology and
pharmacology are both required courses within an associate degree nursing program. Due to the
highly difficult science intensive and quantity intensive nature of these courses, it is often placed
somewhere in the middle of the 2 year program in order to ease students into the nursing curriculum
at the beginning of the program yet with the purpose of this to develop a student s competency of
pathophysiology and pharmacology early enough in the program to apply directly to safe patient
care during scheduled clinical experiences. Due to the difficulty and intensity of these

A Barbed Wire Piano Commemorates Korean Independence

Samsung, to unveil the strangely beautiful Piano of Unification, a project which commemorates
Korea s 70th anniversary of liberation from Japanese occupation, and aims to enhance interest in the
national reunification of South and North Korea. The piano in question uses barbed wire pulled
from the inter Korean border (a literal symbol of the nation s division) for its strings, and will be
exhibited and performed on in public at Seoul Museum of Art in central Seoul. All of the wires
used in the piano were taken from the border fence while some changes were made to one of the
pianos to allow it a greater range and sound accuracy.

Esters Lab Report
Part 1: Esters aromas are very distinct and often pleasant, they are often used in food aroma and

boiling points, caused by their dipole dipole and dispersion interaction.2 Esters are the result of a
condensation reaction, in which a carboxylic acid, an alcohol, and an acid catalyst react to create a
water molecule and an ester.
In this part of experiment, alcohol(2ml) and CH3COOH(1ml) will react to produce an ester, the

Therefore, the experimental yield is larger than theoretical yield. This indicates an error in how
the result was produced, this could have been caused by a number of different factors. The first
possible reason for this error could be a result of the drying process of the amino group. The
product was left out for several minutes, however despite this the product was still wet after the
drying process over should have been complete, thus increasing the mass of our product and
therefor increasing the percent yield. Another possible factor in this over calculation is an excess
of 4 aminophenol, which was 1.008g instead of 1 gram. Additionally, a number of errors could
have been the result of time management, which in the future will need to improve. In the process
of cooling reactants (4 aminophenol and acetic acid) in ice water, time could have been used more

In The Meaning of a Word and Being a Chink , Gloria Naylor and Christine Leong examine words
of hatred that are meant to scorn, hurt and disgrace people. But these same words could also be
used without harmful intentions and in a fashion of endearment amongst the people those words
were created for. They each had a different wordto discriminate their different culture and ethnicity.
These writers discuss the words niggerand chink , which are words in our language mostly
ignorant people use. Naylor and Leong are also both minorities who were raised in America. They

Living in America, it is again expected that these racial slurs are a part of our language. Leong
writes in her essay, Language is the tool used to define us and differentiate us from the next person.
Sometimes these things are innocuous, depending on the particular word and the context in which
it is used. Often they serve to ridicule and humiliate. Both of these writers explain how nigger and
chink are most commonly used in an offensive manner. But the people (chinks and niggers) that
those words were meant to hurt, are also used by the niggers and chinks in their daily conversations.
It could be applied to a man who had distinguished himself in some situation that brought their
approval for his strength, intelligence, or drive (Naylor,1986,p.470).
Naylor and Leong were both minorities raised in an area that was predominately populated by
Caucasians. Naylor writes, I was part of a large extended family that had migrated from the rural
South after World War II and formed a close knit network that gravitated around her maternal

not let the dense true meaning of that word get in the way of living. Living in America, they took
that word of disgrace or shame and rendered it ineffective. They made it ineffective by ignoring
and hiding the word s true origins and meaning. Leong grew up in a suburban town in New Jersey

he is looking at something he remembers or his past per se. Reaching the end of the tunnel he is
faced with men of his past. He then tells the men about his failed choice to put them into action. His

Persuasive Essay On Amazon Grocery Business
One of the most annoying things in the world is going shopping. It s not like getting new stuff
is a complete nightmare, it s just the part where you have to interact with people, deal with lines,
look at prices, figure out how much money you have, and so on. That stuff really gets me. What
s even worse that shopping is grocery shopping. If you go to a grocery store on a weekend, you
might as well take a Xanax before you walk in the door. Nothing makes me want to scream like a
old people standing in the way of an entire aisle and then looking at you like you re doing
something wrong.
Thankfully, the go to place for pretty much everything besides groceries is getting into the grocery
business. According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon will soon start rolling out its own private

How far was Disraeli the Architect of the second reform act of 1867? It can be argued that
Disraeli was the architect of reform during the late 1860 s and through 1867 reform act, mainly
due to the fact that he realised that the conservative party might be seen as non reforming. To
counter this he would expand the franchise and gain potential new voters. However there is also
significant evidence that Lord Derby was the main architect of reform, mostly due to the fact that
he had been part of the 1832 reform bill and when he returned to power in 1866 he took the lead in
presenting the conservative reform bill. One reason, which shows that Disraeli was the Architect of

push and demand for reform which he believed could strengthen the Tory party. The letter came
after pressure for reform increased after attempts by liberals to deal with the issue in 1866,
however Disraeli was reluctant to deal with it. Due to Disraeli being reluctant to deal with the
pressure for reform, it shows that he was not as supportive of reform as Derby, thus it could be
said that Derby was the main architect of reform. Source 8 also supports the idea that Derby was
the main architect of reform. It explains that when Derby and Disraeli returned to power in
1866, it was Derby who took the lead in proposing a conservative reform bill . Derby had
previously helped to draft the 1832 reform bill 34 years earlier and he steered the 1867 measure

permanently in power. He was to do this by expanding the franchise to gain new voters because
they would be seen as the reforming party whilst using the most conservative measure

is a really smart way of collecting money in order to pay past debts for a nation, but at the same
time, the people are also aware of the fact that they should not be the one responsible for such

The Machiavellian Approach to Management Essay
The Machiavellian Approach to Management
Whether you love him/her or hate him/her everybody has one...a boss. Most people have their
own opinions as to what kind of boss it is that they would like to work for. Most would probably
agree that the worst kind of boss is a new boss. This is more than likely due to people s
extraordinary fear of change and the unknown. Whatever the reason, the employee always has the
option to leave their position and seek work elsewhere. The same can not be said for subjects of
states, who by no action of their own, were to be ruled by a new prince. Just as varied as the ways in
which one inherits a new boss, likewise new principalities have an abundance of ways of being

Adding fuel to an already explosive situation, by making changes to company policy should be
avoided at all costs. However, as Machiavelli suggests that a boss by birth [has] less need to harm
his[/her] employees, thus putting some of the fears towards the new boss to rest (8).
When a principality is acquired through an acquisition of a non hostile nature, it is the prince who
may have fears. The prince of a mixed principality faces more difficulties than those of a hereditary
principality. Machiavelli suggests that these difficulties derive from one natural problem inherent in
all new principalities: men gladly change their masters, thinking to better themselves (8).
Additionally, the new prince is, out of necessity, going to offend his new subjects by bringing in his
soldiers and [causing] other countless injuries that are involved in his new conquest (8). These
same problems will face the management of a newly acquired business. Those employees that are
retained will automatically look to better their current position by less than honest means. Those
left over from the old regime may be inclined to steal from the company out of fear that they may
soon be replaced. Thus, endangering the already financially unstable situation that an acquisition

The Tyranny Of Experts Analysis
In his book The Tyranny of Experts, William Easterly argues against what he calls the technocratic
approach to development, in which expert economists advise an autocrat in how to best develop his
country. Easterly instead advocates increasing the individual rights of the people in underdeveloped
nations in order to catalyze free development. He uses 3 debates the blank slate vs. learning from
history, nations vs. individuals, and conscious design vs. free development to support the free
development side of the overarching debate of the novel: authoritarian vs. free development.
Easterly comes to the conclusion that individual rightsare the most important factor in development,
saying,

Easterly s proof for the learning from history side of the debate is so effective and convincing
because it is based almost entirely on statistical data. Using survey data, for example, Easterly is
able to show a direct connection between rights and development by tracing the emergences of
trends that facilitated rights, and demonstrating how those rights still play a role in economies
today. Perhaps his most convincing argument for learning from history is proving that places
affected the most by slavery still today have lower levels of trust, lower rights, and therefore
lower rates of economic growth. He uses the example of the Aja people, a group often taken as
slaves from Benin, which today is one of the poorest countries in Africa. He attributes this poverty
to a lack of trust leftover from decades of slave trade, saying, Although the victimization of the Aja
was mostly over by 1800, the Aja...scored exceptionally low values of trust today toward other
ethnic groups and even toward their fellow Aja (162). Lack of trust amongst ethnic groups hinders
trade and innovation and therefore hinders economic growth, which proves that the historical
context of Benin can explain its poverty today. Thus Easterly convincingly demonstrates the value
of learning from history by showing a correlation between historical oppression and current
poverty, using data to back up his claims. The Blank Slate vs. learning from history debate
becomes even more convincing when Easterly then goes on to use historical data to prove his
stances on the other two debates, revealing that historical data can be of vital importance in many
different areas of

The s Theory Of Scapegoating
Currently, Black Lives Matter victims are struggling with the loss of children, relatives, and close
friends due to an illogical order in society. The guilty are set free, while the innocent are accused of
putting themselves in unfriendly situations, therefore making them a byproduct of their demise. In
order to completely understand how innocent people are being killed and murderers are getting
away free, I uncovered the truth behind scapegoating. This unfair societal issue is a problem,
nonetheless, a careless standard of pledging guilt on the ones who are rightfully innocent. In my
essay I argue, by utilizing Burke s theory of scapegoating in the Tamir Rice shooting, I understand
how law and society constructs who receives guilt and who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A scapegoat must have two qualities. First, it must be anecdotal; meaning it must be representative
of certain unwanted evils. Burke describes these unwanted evils as guilt from historical and cultural
identifications. In my understanding, historical and cultural identifications can be seen in modern
day situations such as Tamir s. These identifications are the negative associations which African
American stereotypes have created throughout time. An article written by Kenneth W. Goings in
February 1990, states the idea of these stereotypes, saying, These objects produced from the late
17th century to the present, have been almost universally derogatory, with exaggerated racial
features that helped prove that African Americans were different and inferior. (Goings, Kenneth.)
Historical and culturally, these stereotypes say things such as African Americans look suspicious
based of apparel, facial expressions, or physical intimidation therefore making it reasonable for
officers to become suspicious. These stereotypes and identification issues make the scapegoats
guilt easily understood by society and law courts that decide cases such as Tamir Rice s. Burke s
second point states that a scapegoat needs to be powerful because it must be at least equal to the
burden of guilt, so that the sacrifice destroys a vessel strong enough to hold the transgression. Burke
notes that the scapegoat must be worthy legalistically,

an experiment testing a child s ability to recognize the difference between a faux hand and their

My composer is Ludwig Van Beethoven who was a German composer and pianist. Beethoven

consultation. Typically, the medical aspects dominate the consultation so it is not surprising that
patients wishing to talk about particular worries or concerns give somewhat indirect or underlying
cues or clues which are hard to detect (4). Some studies show that patient satisfaction is not affected
by physician reaction to cues and concerns (9), while others have found the opposite that indeed
responsiveness is related to patient satisfaction (10). If we can better understand patient
communication whether explicit or implied, we will have a greater ability to understand how
physicians can best communicate in consultation to guide the patient to disclose concerns (11).
Although it is understood that a physician s ability to communicate has a great effect on the patient,
the training in this area is still deficient (5,12). Medical students are more likely to give

Biography of Christopher Wallace, The Big Essay
Sky s the limit and you know that you can have, what you want, be what you want, have what
you want, be what you want. This lyric by Christopher Wallace simply states that if you want
something that it is possible for you to achieve it with enough hard work. Christopher Wallace,
known to the world as the Notorious BIG was a product of the streets growing up in the ghetto of
Brooklyn in the 1990s. Christopher inspired many with his timeless lyrics reflecting the American
dream from the perspective of the average poverty stricken youth. His rise to success gave hope
to the masses that if a young kid from Brooklyn can make it big, that anyone can (Wilkins). His
songs and image continue to impact the world today as he became of music`s... Show more content

This sparked the beef between east and west coast rappers that still lasts to this day. In August of
1994 he married Faith Evans. A month later in September he released his debut album, Ready to
Die (UXL). This is the album that changed his life and left an everlasting impact on the world.
With 2pac`s death occurring in the end of 1996 the beef between east and west coast rappers
was at an all time high and Biggie was promoting his second album. He played a controversial
show in LA during this strand of promotional shows. The night of this show, March 9, 1997,
Biggie was shot and killed leaving the club. Going from nothing to becoming an of the biggest
rappers in history is truly inspiring to many. In his lyrics he showed the truth of the streets that
many people never knew and the struggles of the everyday life for some. It wasn t a glorious
journey to stardom but more so a road with many obstacles in the way. Many of which affected
his public image because being a former crack dealer and having gang associations does not look
good to the general public. Biggie however never glorified or promoted his past lifestyle with his
music. He portrayed them as motivation to make it big so that he would never have to live that
kind of way again. (UXL). To go from being in and out of prison to being an of the most
successful hip hop artists of all time is a lavish change. Christopher Wallace

Review Of Descartes Meditations On First Philosophy
Descartes s conception of the self and how the self relates to the body started with how
Descartes viewed the self in Meditations on First Philosophy. Descartes wanted to start a new
foundation with philosophy and so he used reason to find truths that were unboubtful. Since
sense data can deceive you, Descartes could not trust things he saw, heard, or felt. I have noticed
that the sense are sometimes deceptive; and it is a mark of prudence never to place our
complete trust in those who have deceived us even once (Descartes, 1993, p.14). However, he
realized it was possible to overcome senses due to reason. A person can doubt what they see, since
it could be a dream or an insane state, but person s existence is undoubtful because it is self evident.

Garden Reels
Not only are garden hose reels very practical, but they can also improve the look of your yard.
Some decorative hose reels are attractive in their own right, but the main reason they can help
improve the look and feel of your yard is by helping you keep the water hose off of the ground.
This can also help it from becoming damaged or becoming an obstacle in your yard. There are a
few types of garden hose reels available to fit different needs. Wall Mount Hose Reels The wall
mount style as the name suggests mounts to the wall, usually right next to or above the water
faucet. They typically come in either decorative metal or a heavy plastic. Some of them even have
a shelf or a small storage compartment where you can keep garden hose attachments,

Humorous On Command Analysis
This is going to be a tough paper
Asking me to be humorous on command is pretty hard. I could write about all the embarrassing
things I have done, but it would fill up a couple more pages than I really want to do. Plus those
pages would be something I really wouldn t let anyone see. It would be way too embarrassing
and i would have to move states again. It s not that I m a dry, boring, and unhumorous politician,
it s just that asking me to be funny on command is gonna take me completely off guard. So off
guard in fact I will think way too hard about what to write on this paper, Because that s just who I
am. Im thinking im gonna have an easier time paying my tuition than I will writing a paper like this.
It s too bad I have to do both. I could joke about the current state of politics all day, but I think it
would be rather offensive to do that here, so I won t. I could joke about small events ... Show more

It makes me seize up and my brain hits a brick wall and just deflates. The longer it takes the
worse it gets obviously, so if i don t come up with a witty remark directly afterwards a comment, I
surely will when I recreate the argument in my head in the shower the very next day. Imagine
Improv with anxiety. It s kind of like a deer caught in headlights.
I think the worst and best part of all of this though is that i m writing with my own kind of humour.
Humour that may not really appeal to other people. Humour that may get me an F since i m clearly
stretching the idea of writing with humour. Humour that i m not sure is super outlandishly akward
or actually somewhat chucklesome but is humour all my own. Which is what makes this
assignment difficult since everyone has a different standard of humour. What some of my

U.s. National Bureau Of Economic Research
In December of 2007 the Great Recession hit not only the american but the world s economy.
According to the U.S. National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) the struggle didn t end
in the United States until June 2009, and therefore had a duration of about 18 months. This
global crisis ranks fourth in terms of the weighted sum of countries suffering it (NBER).
Consumers, who had been the engine of the economy for the past several decades, suffered the
loss of their jobs. Between 2008 and 2009, the U.S. labor market lost 8.4 million jobs, or 6.1% of
all payroll employment (State of Working America). This resulted in the most sever consumer
spending decline since World War II and the worst employment contraction since the Great
Depression, reaching a peak of 10% of all the workforce on October 2009 (BLS). The economy
was already faltering in the banking sector, but it finally crashed with the dearth of credit. As a
heart distributes the blood throughout the human body, even reaching the limbs, allowing the
body to work properly, the banking sector pumps credit, reaching every business in every sector.
When the banking sector stops giving credit, the whole economy freezes since businesses don t
have means to pay their bills. There are reasons why the banks stopped the flow of credit, and they
could have been avoided if the government had corrected the bad manners to which the banking
sector was getting used, all driven by the ambition to generate more revenue. The

Finance Systems for Higher Education
Higher education from United States is the best in the world, since it has a good quality. Tulip
said, United States colleges and universities offer more choice, their graduates receive greater
wage premiums, and they attract more than twice as many foreign students as any other country.
Actually, people can see a large difference in wages between people who go to colleges and people
who do not go to colleges. People still go to colleges even if many students need to financetheir
education. Within a good quality in higher education, then more and more international students are

Since public expenditure is huge, colleges will function better within sufficient funds. Increased
amount from tuition will help colleges to provide better quality of education. Moreover, the other
two are local taxes of $8.9 billion and ARRA funds of $2.8 billion. These two account for 6% and
2% in all financial resources, respectively. As we mentioned earlier, ARRA is organized to provide
funds to public schools in a recession time. According to SHEA report, author wrote about that
ARRA funds for public colleges and universities can mitigate tuition increases and layoffs.
And one thing needs to be mentioned is that Very few public institutions have significant
non‐restricted revenue from gifts and endowments to support instruction. Public colleges are
largely different from private colleges, so they do not receive private endowments from rich people
and their alumni. The most important and largest funding is from government. Next, we will
explore how government funding should be distributed. First of all, we need to explore how
government funding comes from. According to SHEA report, state and local government funding
for public colleges and universities comes from the following aspects. These are appropriations
from state tax revenue, Non‐tax appropriations, mostly from state lotteries, Local appropriations,
State‐funded endowment earnings, Oil and mineral extraction fees or other

Beriberi Research Paper
Introduction: I am going to discuss beriberi. Beriberi is a disease brought on by a Vitamin B 1
(thiamine) deficiency. There are two types of the disease: wet beriberi and dry beriberi. Wet
beriberi can effect heart function and, in the most extreme cases, heart failure. Dry beriberi
damages the nerves and can lead to a loss of muscle strength and, eventually, muscle paralysis. If
left unchecked and untreated, it can cause death.
Symptoms: The symptoms of this disease vary depending on the type, wet or dry. The following
are symptoms of wet beriberi:
shortness of breath during physical activity
rapid heart rate
swollen lower legs
waking up short of breath
decreased muscle function, particularly in the lower legs
tingling or loss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A blood test will measure how much Vitamin B 1 is in your blood. A urine test will check the
concentration level of thiamine.
Rapid heartbeats, lower leg swelling, and/or difficulty breathing are all possible signs for beriberi.
During a neurological exam, doctors look for signs like difficulty of walking, lack of coordination,
droopy eyelids, and impaired reflexes. Later stages of beriberi will show memory loss, confusion,
or delusions.
Causes: The cause for this disease is a diet low in Vitamin B 1. Dynamics can contribute:
Abusing alcohol can make it difficult for your body to absorb and store Vitamin B 1.
Genetic beriberi is a rare condition that prevents the body from absorbing Vitamin B 1.
Pregnant women with hyperthyroidism (over active thyroid gland) need extra vitamin B 1.
Prolonged diarrhea makes it difficult for your body to absorb Vitamin B 1. Treatments: The
treatment for this disease is with thiamine supplements. Your physician might prescribe a thiamine
pill or shot. Monitoring and keeping up with your progress is usually done with follow up blood
tests that show how well your body is absorbing the

The story initially takes place at Jardins Publiques where Miss Brill goes every Sunday, as stated
by the narrator: ...the blue sky powdered with gold and great spots of light like white wine
splashed over the Jardins Publiques (862). Jardins Publiques...ermine toque and ma petite
chГ©rie are also mentioned and represent Mansfield s continuous use of French throughout the
story, which alludes to the location of the park being located somewhere in France (862 865).
The setting of time being during the 1920s supports Miss Brill s unease through the way it
represents a period of nervousness caused by the two world wars: The air was motionless, but
when you opened your mouth there was just a faint chill, like a chill from a glass of iced water
before you sip, and now and again a leaf came drifting from nowhere, from the sky (862). This
time settings is also supported when the narrator mentions a band playing in the park every
Sunday, referencing a period when this was more common place. The reference made by the
narrator regarding Miss Brill s house also alludes to a different setting, as shown when she says,
she passed the baker s by, climbed the stairs, went into the little dark room her room like a
cupboard (865). Mansfield s contrast in settings is important because it represents Miss Brill s
realization of reality. Thurber and Mansfield both create a contrast between reality and the central

Procurement Routes And Contracts.
Ms. Drew Barryless, Director Drew Private Limited (D.ltd) 123 Low Street Oxford OX6 5PP 10th
November 2014 Dear Ms. Drew, Title : Procurement Routes and Contracts Stage 2 Following my
previous letter on stage 1 which is briefly about the design project, roles of architects and involving
consultants, next, I will continue with stage 2,the Procurement Routes and Contracts,as stated
above. 1. I am concerned about your minimal understanding of procurement routes or the confusing
array of contracts that exist. Therefore, I will explain what a procurement route is and the
advantages and disadvantages of using a standard building contract over a bespoke one at the
following pages. 2. Other than that,in addition, I ll explain about the principles of Design and Built
and Traditional procurement routes and what is most advisable to you with regards to procurement
route and contract. Most project, before construction contract is being choosen, it is nearly crucial
to think about the most suitable procurement route. This is the way in which the client and
contractor will work together to realise the project, and will depend on several factors including
quality, risk, timing, budget and the extent to which you, as the client, wish to be involved in the
process of construction. As listed below are some different types of Procurement Route that may
have you heard before: Traditional Design and Build (D B) Management Integrated (Partnering)

Polio ( Poliomyelitis ) Is A Contagious Illness Caused By...
Polio (Poliomyelitis) is a very contagious illness caused by the poliovirus. The poliovirus affects
the central nervous system, and is known and feared for causing paralysis (CDC, 2015). The
virus is contracted orally (through the mouth), from fecal matter (CDC, 2015): It first goes to
the throat and digestive system (CDC, 2015). Next it enters the lymphatic system, the
bloodstream and finally the Central Nervous System (CNS), were it can cause paralysis due to
damage/destruction of the motor neurons (CDC, 2015). Only people carry the poliovirus, and
it only affects humans (CDC, 2015) No cure, only prevention (CDC, 2015). Once someone has
been in contact with the virus, it can take anywhere from 3 to 35 days to notice symptoms
(NYSDOH, 2014). Most people who contract polio do not get sick (they don t show
symptoms), but they can still pass the virus through stool and spread it to other individuals
(NYSDOH, 2014). Of the individuals who contract polio, only 4 5% get the following
symptoms: headaches, fever, nausea, vomiting, and muscle weakness (NYSDOH, 2014). 1 2%
of people with polio develop severe muscle pain and stiffness in the neck and back (NYSDOH,
2014). Paralysis caused by polio is very rare, of the total amount of individuals who contract the
virus, less than 1% become paralyzed (NYSDOH, 2014). Polio was not addressed as a serious
issue in Nigeria until the mid 1900 s (Renne, 2010). When Europeans (white people) in Nigeria

The Crisis Of Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Sudan, And Lebanon Essay
Many nations around the world refine oil. Based on the number of barrels refined during the first
three months of 2016, the countries that refined the most oil were: Russia (10.5 million BPD),
Saudi Arabia (10 million BPD), the United States (9.2 million BPD), Iraq (4.3 million BPD) and
China (4.1 million BPD). (CNNMoney, 2016)
Just as there are many oil producing states in the United States that do not have refineries, there
are entire nations that are impacted by having a lack of refineries. A few oil rich nations that are
negatively impacted by a lack of refineries include: Nigeria, Russia, Sudan, Cyprus, and Lebanon.
Nigeria is currently the largest oil producer in Africa and was the world s fourth largest exporter
of LNG in 2015. Nigeria s oil production is hampered by instability and supply disruptions, while
its natural gas sector is restricted by the lack of infrastructure to commercialize natural gas that is
currently flared (burned off). (British Petroleum, 2016) Nigeria is a member of OPEC. Although
Nigeria is the largest oil producer in Africa, its production is affected by unplanned outages; some
that have been estimated to have been up to 500,000 BPD. (U.S. Energy Information
Administration, 2016) Nigeria s petroleum industry is impacted by regulatory uncertainty,
corruption, mismanagement of oil subsidies, oil theft, sabotage, environmental damages, and piracy
in offshore West Africa.

  • 2. Bromophenol Blue Experiment The plot that is most linear according to the line of best fit is Figure 2, f(x) = 0.00310x 0.4269 with a R^2 value of 0.9973. Comparatively, Figure 1 (zeroth reaction order) has a best fit line of f(x) = 0.00210(x) + 1.3426 with a R^2 value of 0.9094, and Figure 3 (second reaction order) has a best fit line of f(x) = 0.00550x+0.2716 with a R^2 value of 0.9559. So, my data suggests that Figure 2, rate law 1, is the most linear, and hence the correct order of reaction can be assumed first order with respect to Bromophenol blue. Thus, the slope of Figure 2 s line is 0.00310 and therefore the k value for Bromophenol blue order of reaction is the slope, or 0.0031 sec 1. However, for hydroxide in trial 1 with respect... Also it is important to consider the spectrometers used in this lab, which had capped out above an initial absorbance of 2 and higher in the lab, which skewed all future readings since it was impossible to record from that value, which led to inaccurate readouts for the absorbance values. A major source of error was that a different volumetric pipette was used to measure the initial absorbance and in Trial 1a than the micropipette used in the other four trials. Though both volumetric pipettes were 1 mL, the possible miniscule differences between the two glassware could have created a significant difference in the tiny volumes. The experiment could have been improved by use of a UV/Vis rather than a Spec, which could improve the precision and accuracy of the measured absorbances and thus decrease the uncertainty. Additionally, measuring the absorbances for a longer duration of time so that a significant deviation from linearity could be observed could decrease the uncertainty in the reaction order with respect to Bromophenol blue. The best alternative could involve measuring manipulated concentrations directly against time instead of absorbance since the values would be in our control instead of in the machine s control, which tended to show inevitable ... • 3. North and South American Yanomamo Culture Essay There are many differences between the South American Yanomamo culture and the North American culture that we have adapted to, but just at there is culture diversity between us, we have some similarities. The ethnography, which is chose, was Yanomamo written by Napoleon A. Chagnon, anthropologists. Chagnon tells us how to it was to live among the Yanomamo family, political and warfare system versus the American Culture. The Yanomamo are of patrilineal culture, male oriented and very sexist. For some reason they believe that, they are superior to women, so do some men in American culture. However, they are jolted back reality when the law gets involved, unfortunately Yanomamo men don t have this wake up call. Marriage is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a natural contraceptive. But if a new infant is born it will starve to death, because the older sibling would drink most of the milk, specially if it is a female infant. Male children grow up to be hunters and worriers. Female children although inferior (according to the Yanomamo) are valuable objects of trade and political alliances. A confusing aspect of the Yanomamo marriages is, even though polygamy is freely practiced so is monogamy but only for the women. Adultery, just like in American culture, is inexcusable to the Yanomamo. In this topic similarities make a breakthrough in both cultures. If relationship between an American woman and an American man

The problem is assault and battery charges can get you into a lot of trouble, not to mention how much you would have to pay a lawyer. But Yanomamo mean get away with their violent retaliation for being disrespected because again there are no laws protecting Yanomamo women not that American women are always protected by the law, it s just a myth. The punishment for the Yanomamo women who is only suspected of having an affair with another man is being beaten with a club, burned, shot with a barbed arrow, or the man decides to detach a limb (ex. Arm, leg...) with an ax or machete. Even though it seems as though women are expendable is this culture she may have some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Kids In America Analysis somadjinn.deviantart.com somadjinn.deviantart.com Fourth of July will soon be upon us, and that means celebrating with barbeques, fireworks and good music. Here are the top ten songs about America to get you in the mood (FYI, I left out America by Simon Garfunkel, as I put that on another list.) Number Ten: Kids in America by The Muffs. Kids in America is a song by The Muffs, off of the 1995 soundtrack to Clueless. Originally the song was done by Kim Wilde, off of her 1981 self titled debut (however, I chose the version by The Muffs as it s a bit grittier.) Lyrics include, outside a new day is dawning / outside suburbia s sprawling everywhere / I don t want to go baby / New York to east California / there s a new wave coming I warn you / we re the kids in America / everybody live for the music go round / we re the kids in America. This song simply seems to be about how the kids in America are who decide what music becomes popular; it also mentions a new wave, which could easily be referring to the new wave music of the 80s that would become very prevalent in the music scene. Number Nine: American Woman by The Guess Who. American... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is probably the most obviously dismal track on this list, as it seems to be about the homeless life in America. The song begins, oh this hurricane s blowing us thin / this never ending swirl of American sin / where I strayed on my knees to a bottomless cage / where they throw dollar bills and hope to be saved / the poshest scarf on the warmest day / it s enough to make you give up, she says. Other lyrics include, the hardest thing next to diamond rigs / is the coats we have to wear just to make ends meet and let s just lie here as they paint us black. The song ends with, the nervous ticks only the holy get / the country treats as the cities get sick / the lunatics and the Harlem tricks / the country treats as we all get ... Snapchat aims to apply through technological means the temporal time bound paradigm that characterizes oral cultures (Soffer, 2016). An image becomes a photograph, in part, by having borders. The frame makes the photo. Tellingly, a Snapchat usually exists unframed, full screen, more moment than an art object. Less than sharing experience trophies and hoping communicationhappens around them, an ephemeral network leaves the art objects to fade in favor of focusing on the moments, the experience, the communication; more social than media, more social than network. (Jurgenson, 2014). The Snapchat users like the idea of a safe place where they can control what is shared with the world. • 10. Defense Of Insanity The Butler Committee recommended that proof of severe mental disorder should be sufficient to negate responsibility. This would create a presumption of no criminal liability where this is proof of a mental disorder. However, this assumes that a lack of criminal responsibility simply because of a mental dysfunction is evident, rather than establishing a standard of criminal responsibility. This questions the application of insanityto all crimes rather than those involving mens rea only. Another criticism of the defence of insanity is that at a trial involving a plea of insanity there will be conflicting medical evidence given by both the prosecution and the defence, however the final decision of whether the D is legally insane or not is ... • 11. Summary Of Mob Rule In New Orleans By Ida B. Wells Have you faced racial persecution due to the color of your skin? The time was 1900 s and this was the nightmare that Ida B. Wells Barnett wrote of in Mob Rule in New Orleans. This is the true account of Robert Charles as he fights for his life to escape the hands of a lynching mob. This impassion story collaborates with the witness of this terrifying event that Wells describes. Wells uses her literary skills to shed light on racial discrimination, media bias, and her personal crusade for justice to portray this heart wrenching reality of the violent lynching during the 19th century. Ida B. Wells Barnett wrote Mob Rule in New Orleans to express the discrimination and the hatred that the African American faced during the 19th century. She suffered discrimination throughout her life and knew firsthand how society would allow unjust crimes go unpunished. Many African Americans were discriminated against during this time. Wells Barnett was an investigative journalist and was involved in researching, reporting, publishing pamphlets, and eventually campaigning against the historical tragedy known as lynching. She became aware of these atrocities occurring against African Americans at an alarming rate in the United States. In Mob Rule in New Orleans, Wells Barnett stated, Legal sanction was given to the mob or any man of the mob to kill Charles at sight by the Mayor of New Orleans, who publicly proclaimed a reward of two hundred and fifty dollars, not for the arrest of Charles, not at all, but the reward was offered for Charles body, dead or alive. By using intertextuality it helps send messages out that the audience will understand better from the dialogue. In the film The Matrix the main character Neo (Thomas Anderson), finds out that the world he is living in is controlled by false intelligence to hide the truth about the real world. Some references from this film are Alice in Wonderlandand Plato s Allegory of the cave these films are used because of how both of these films use imaginary worlds and also machinery taking over society. These films all revolve around one metaphysical question, what is real? and both of these films have many similarities. Neo, who is the main character, is trapped in a false existence, which is crated by a computer program. The Machines created the program also took over the planet. In Plato s Allegory of the Cave is about a prisoner who is able to understand the difference between the reality of the cave and the real one out side of the cave. But both of these films revolve around the same metaphysical question, what is real? there are quite a few similarities that the matrix and the cave share. One of the biggest similarities is the fact that they both, Neo and the freed prisoner have to face the acceptance of the truth about themselves. Both of them have to accept the truth before they can learn the truth and about the essential truths. Neo and the freed prisoner need to experience proof that the senses are inadequate and that they can be systematically deceived before they can learn the knowledge they need. Both of the worlds in the stories are controlled by a greater power. For example, Plato s prisoners live in a cave that is controlled by the leaders, while Neo lives in a world that is controlled by the matrix. In the end both of the characters realise that they are just prisoners and were unaware of the reality they thought they know. Both of these stories have the characters learning new achievements. In the Matrix, neo can learn physically impossible things once he learns how to manipulate the matrix. And the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. A Brief Note On The World Of Greece And Iceland Bucket List: What on My Bucket List Most people live busy all the time by doing something in their lives. So, what do they live for? Indeed, are we living in a dream? Most people would be answer No. Therefore, we truly need to live the way we really want to do before we die. Thus, I realize, I should do that what I want to do in my life. For this reason, I made a bucket list with three categories: personal, academic, and professional. The first thing on my personal bucket list is to travel to Europe, but above all, I want to go to Greece and Iceland. One day, I watched a Korean reality travel program Youth over Flowers, which showed young people backpacking with little money. Therefore, I thought that was how youth should be. Since then, I have been wanting to go to Greece and Iceland by myself. If I could go there, I would like to go to Santorini Island in Greece, which is the most beautiful place I have seen on TV, and it looks peaceful with a blue ocean. Salome M. Krell and David Farrell describe Santorini as an unforgettable beauty when they say, I . . . have fallen in love with this spellbinding place (3). For this reason, I would like to go Santorini, and I would like to drink wine on the terrace overlooking the sea; I will feel relaxed and free. Then, I would like to visit Iceland. Iceland is one of the best places to view the northern lights, although it is hard to see aurora because of the clouds and weather. The authors of the article Magic in the ... • 15. Human Beings Have a Right to Die Essay Do people have the right to die? Is there, in fact, a right to die? Assisted suicide is a controversial topic in the public eye today. Individuals choose their side of the controversy based on a number of variables ranging from their religious views and moral standings to political factors. Several aspects of this issue have been examined in books, TV shows, movies, magazine articles, and other means of bringing the subject to the attention of the public. In most cases, these people are able to take what they ve been given and deal with it. However, in some cases, some simply can not tolerate their lives as they are. They feel that the only solution to their problem is to end their lives. Unfortunately, in some cases, the terminally ill or disabled are not capable of accomplishing this task by themselves, and are left trapped in a life that they do not want. In these cases, when one wishes to end his life and is terminally ill, disabled, or otherwise unable to do so independently, he should have the right to die by assisted suicide. Although most people that are terminally ill or disabled do not wish to end their lives, there are still those few who do. Lynching is an extrajudicial practice carried out as an informal execution of an alleged criminal. In the 1900s, lynch mobs were a frequent way to highlight the economic and political differences as the dominant group would suppress their competition in this way, especially in the south. It was reported that African American men were lynched to death in Mississippi on a weekly basis. Since 1874, the Jim Crow laws had been established and stayed in effect until 1975. This legalizes the separation of races in the south of America and condemned coloured Americans to a second class citizenship (Tischauser, 2012). These conditions became the source of many blues numbers which often wail the gruesome experiences of victims of systemic racism such as Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday, as it was a common reaction to perform songs of protest against racial injustice in juke joints. Therefore, the experimental yield is larger than theoretical yield. This indicates an error in how the result was produced, this could have been caused by a number of different factors. The first possible reason for this error could be a result of the drying process of the amino group. The product was left out for several minutes, however despite this the product was still wet after the drying process over should have been complete, thus increasing the mass of our product and therefor increasing the percent yield. Another possible factor in this over calculation is an excess of 4 aminophenol, which was 1.008g instead of 1 gram. Additionally, a number of errors could have been the result of time management, which in the future will need to improve. In the process of cooling reactants (4 aminophenol and acetic acid) in ice water, time could have been used more effectively in other parts of the experiment. This could have been a major factor in why 3 hours were used to complete the lab. Despite these potential errors we found that both acetaminophen and 4 aminophenol were alcohols as they produced a color change in the Cerium Test. To counter this he would expand the franchise and gain potential new voters. However there is also significant evidence that Lord Derby was the main architect of reform, mostly due to the fact that he had been part of the 1832 reform bill and when he returned to power in 1866 he took the lead in presenting the conservative reform bill. He uses 3 debates the blank slate vs. learning from history, nations vs. individuals, and conscious design vs. free development to support the free development side of the overarching debate of the novel: authoritarian vs. free development. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Easterly s proof for the learning from history side of the debate is so effective and convincing because it is based almost entirely on statistical data. Using survey data, for example, Easterly is able to show a direct connection between rights and development by tracing the emergences of trends that facilitated rights, and demonstrating how those rights still play a role in economies today. Perhaps his most convincing argument for learning from history is proving that places affected the most by slavery still today have lower levels of trust, lower rights, and therefore lower rates of economic growth. He uses the example of the Aja people, a group often taken as slaves from Benin, which today is one of the poorest countries in Africa. He attributes this poverty to a lack of trust leftover from decades of slave trade, saying, Although the victimization of the Aja was mostly over by 1800, the Aja...scored exceptionally low values of trust today toward other ethnic groups and even toward their fellow Aja (162). Lack of trust amongst ethnic groups hinders trade and innovation and therefore hinders economic growth, which proves that the historical context of Benin can explain its poverty today. Thus Easterly convincingly demonstrates the value of learning from history by showing a correlation between historical oppression and current poverty, using data to back up his claims. The Blank Slate vs. learning from history debate becomes even more convincing when Easterly then goes on to use historical data to prove his stances on the other two debates, revealing that historical data can be of vital importance in many different areas of ... • 31. The s Theory Of Scapegoating Currently, Black Lives Matter victims are struggling with the loss of children, relatives, and close friends due to an illogical order in society. The guilty are set free, while the innocent are accused of putting themselves in unfriendly situations, therefore making them a byproduct of their demise. In order to completely understand how innocent people are being killed and murderers are getting away free, I uncovered the truth behind scapegoating. This unfair societal issue is a problem, nonetheless, a careless standard of pledging guilt on the ones who are rightfully innocent. In my essay I argue, by utilizing Burke s theory of scapegoating in the Tamir Rice shooting, I understand how law and society constructs who receives guilt and who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A scapegoat must have two qualities. First, it must be anecdotal; meaning it must be representative of certain unwanted evils. Burke describes these unwanted evils as guilt from historical and cultural identifications. In my understanding, historical and cultural identifications can be seen in modern day situations such as Tamir s. These identifications are the negative associations which African American stereotypes have created throughout time. An article written by Kenneth W. Goings in February 1990, states the idea of these stereotypes, saying, These objects produced from the late 17th century to the present, have been almost universally derogatory, with exaggerated racial features that helped prove that African Americans were different and inferior. (Goings, Kenneth.) Historical and culturally, these stereotypes say things such as African Americans look suspicious based of apparel, facial expressions, or physical intimidation therefore making it reasonable for officers to become suspicious. These stereotypes and identification issues make the scapegoats guilt easily understood by society and law courts that decide cases such as Tamir Rice s. Burke s second point states that a scapegoat needs to be powerful because it must be at least equal to the burden of guilt, so that the sacrifice destroys a vessel strong enough to hold the transgression. Burke notes that the scapegoat must be worthy legalistically, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to ensure the most comprehensive patient care and satisfaction, it is critical to investigate physician and patient interactions during a medical consultation (4 6). Recent research suggests outcomes are related to communication (7,8). Physicians need to be aware not to discourage patients from sharing sensitive information while still conducting the medical aspects of the consultation. Typically, the medical aspects dominate the consultation so it is not surprising that patients wishing to talk about particular worries or concerns give somewhat indirect or underlying cues or clues which are hard to detect (4). Some studies show that patient satisfaction is not affected by physician reaction to cues and concerns (9), while others have found the opposite that indeed responsiveness is related to patient satisfaction (10). If we can better understand patient communication whether explicit or implied, we will have a greater ability to understand how physicians can best communicate in consultation to guide the patient to disclose concerns (11). Since sense data can deceive you, Descartes could not trust things he saw, heard, or felt. Between 2008 and 2009, the U.S. labor market lost 8.4 million jobs, or 6.1% of all payroll employment (State of Working America). • 55. The Crisis Of Nigeria, Azerbaijan, Sudan, And Lebanon Essay Many nations around the world refine oil. Based on the number of barrels refined during the first three months of 2016, the countries that refined the most oil were: Russia (10.5 million BPD), Saudi Arabia (10 million BPD), the United States (9.2 million BPD), Iraq (4.3 million BPD) and China (4.1 million BPD). (CNNMoney, 2016) Just as there are many oil producing states in the United States that do not have refineries, there are entire nations that are impacted by having a lack of refineries. A few oil rich nations that are negatively impacted by a lack of refineries include: Nigeria, Russia, Sudan, Cyprus, and Lebanon. Nigeria s oil production is hampered by instability and supply disruptions, while its natural gas sector is restricted by the lack of infrastructure to commercialize natural gas that is currently flared (burned off).
