risk of developing an eating disorder. Body dissatisfaction appears common among adolescents,
but there is little information available on changes in prevalence over time. Purpose: We aim to
study temporal changes in body dissatisfaction and eating disordered behavior between 1999 and
2007 and their relationship in high school aged youth. Methods: The National Youth Risk
Behavior Survey (YRBS) data sets were downloaded from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) for the years 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2007. A pooled dataset of variables
common across the years was created (n= 64,270). Hypothesis: We hypothesize that the prevalence
of body dissatisfaction and weight control behaviors will increase over time. We predict prevalence
differences based on gender, ethnicity, and age. We also predict a correlation between body
dissatisfaction and weight control behaviors. Data Analysis: The YRBS uses a multistage
probability sampling design. We conducted univariate descriptive analysis with SPSS using case
weights and multivariate hierarchical hypothesis testing with AM Statistical Software, which takes
into account correlated errors within sampling units and utilizes design weights. Results:

Every year, birds of all types around the world are forced to migrate between breeding and
wintering grounds as a survival mechanism. Seasonal variations in climate greatly impact
conditions of life for birds, forcing them to brave these journeys despite the threat of predators and
harsh conditions along the way (Alerstam Christie, 1993). To make their journeys even more
difficult, birds often encounter large mountain barriers on their routes, forcing them to rise in
elevation several kilometers in some cases to pass these great barriers, where the thinner air can
increase the energy costs of flying by up to 30% (Hawkes et al., 2011).
The goal of this paper is to discover how birds use air circulation patterns to aid in their migration,
then to demonstrate the effects of mountain meteorology on overpassing birds by presenting a case
where a mountain barrier has altered normal migration behaviour. First the paper will discuss
normal wind selectivity of migratory flight in birds as described by Akesson and Hedenstrom

Don t Ask, Don t Tell The issue of gays in the military has been controversial in the United States
for many decades. Over these decades there have been many different proposals as to what
approach to take in order to handle the situation of homosexuals in the military. However, in 1992
when Bill Clinton was running for President of the United States, he made a promise to lift the ban
on homosexuals in the military if he was elected (Washington Post). Bill Clintonfollowed through
with his promise, and in December 1993 he instituted a defense directive that military applicants
should not to be asked about their sexual orientation (Washington Post). This is now known as Don

It was in December 1993 that Clinton issued a defense directive that military candidates should
not be asked about their sexual orientation (Washington Post). This allowed gays who were not
openly gay to serve in the military, however it still prohibited openly gay people to serve in the
military. Over the years, the law has faced its share of challenges, many which ended up in a
court room. In 2006, the Supreme Court unanimously upheld Don t Ask, Don t Tell, and the law
was also upheld five times in federal courts (Washington Post). These doings have ultimately led
up to the most recent actions involving the law. In 2008, President Obama campaigned on the
promise that he would fully repeal the law (Washington Post). In 2010, both the Senate and
House of Representatives voted to repeal the law, allowing President Obama to sign the repeal.

States military. Don t Ask, Don t Tell had two major players, Bill Clinton who put the law into
