Expository Essay Introduction
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Expository Essay Introduction" can present a unique set of
challenges. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between providing a clear and concise
introduction that captures the essence of the topic while avoiding unnecessary details.
Expository essays demand a meticulous approach to presenting information, requiring a thorough
understanding of the subject matter to convey it accurately to the audience.
One challenge is selecting the most relevant and compelling information for the introduction. It's
crucial to identify key points that not only introduce the topic but also set the stage for the rest
of the essay. This process involves careful consideration of the target audience, as the
introduction should cater to their level of understanding and interest.
Furthermore, achieving clarity in expression is another obstacle. The introduction must be
articulate, engaging, and free of jargon that might confuse the reader. Striking the right tone is
vital, as the introduction should pique the reader's interest without giving away too much
information, encouraging them to delve deeper into the essay.
In addition to content and clarity, adhering to proper essay structure poses its own set of
challenges. Ensuring a logical flow of ideas, incorporating a strong thesis statement, and
seamlessly transitioning from the introduction to the body of the essay requires finesse.
Despite these challenges, mastering the art of crafting an effective expository essay introduction
can be immensely rewarding. It not only hones one's writing skills but also enhances the ability
to communicate complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
For those seeking assistance in navigating the intricacies of essay writing or exploring different
topics, a resource like HelpWriting.net can provide valuable support. It offers access to a
diverse range of essays and expert guidance to help individuals overcome the challenges
associated with academic writing.

Rise Of Organized Crime
Organized crime is an outcome of prohibition in the United States at the beginning of
the 20th century. The government was trying to uphold the Volstead Act of 1920, but
bootlegging rings continued to grow nationally as well as internationally. The
Wickersham Commission of 1930 led to a crackdown on political corruption and
began a repetitive prohibition period in which organized crimeleaders had a new way
to commit crimes and come up with a profit in the end. In the 1930 s Lucku
Luciano and Louis Leoke Buchalter created a crime group they called the Syndicate
which was made up of criminals all across the country and punished anyone who
violated their ways. Luciano ended up convicted, Buchalter was executed, and

Of course, there are the major gangs like the Crips and the Bloods, but gang violence
and activity is a problem in the United States today. Back in 2005, the Department
of Justice said there were at least 21,500 gangs and more than 731,000 active gang
members. Gangs are more popular in cities than rural areas, but gang violence is
said to be the cause of half of all homicides. So if it was 731,000 11 years ago, I am
sure the number has risen since then and will continue to grow if the U.S. does not
find a way to contain it. I think gang activity is something that law enforcement
does not spend enough time addressing. I live about 30 minutes from Washington,
D.C. and I know there is gang activity there, but I never hear anything about it. A
local area called Manassas has a gang called MS13, a mainly Hispanic gang and I
never hear anything about it. I think there are so many other things going on in the
world that gang activity tends to be overlooked. If we want gang activity to lower
we have to stop young people from continuing to join gangs. Gang members
describe gangs as a family, and to youth that is lacking a home environment, it may
seem like the right path for them to take. Parents have to be more in their kid s
lives and business to lower the chances of gangs continuing to grow. Having
interactive parents can build a child up to where they do not feel the peer pressure
to join a gang or need that in their lives to feel complete I think law enforcement
could be doing more, but it all starts at home in my
Akc Dog Breeds Essays
We humans classify everything that we have come to know in this world, from
elements to all God s creatures. Man likes to know he has control and the
classification and selective processes man takes are all for control. Even mans best
friend has been narrowed down into groups which man created. In each group are
dogs that have been breed for a specific use to help man do a job faster, easier, and
more efficiently. Every breed is assigned to one of seven groups, based on the uses
for which the breeds were originally developed (AKC.org). Mans best friendhas been
categorized into the: Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non Sporting, Herding, and
Sporting Groups. The Hound Group contains such popular dogs as the Basset Hound,

This group contains the Skye Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, and Fox Terrier (Smooth
and Wire) but there are a total of 25 different breeds recognized. In the old days
they were used for hunting and killing vermin in many different situations. These
dogs are very determined and are often described as thinking they re larger than
they really are. They require owners with the determination to match their dogs
lively characteristics (AKC.org). With 20 separate breeds in it, the Toy Group is
full of energy. These dogs may look little and fragile but many Toys are tough as
nails (AKC.org). This group is popular for people who don t have a lot of space for
a larger dog. This group contains the ever lovable Chihuahua, Italian Greyhound,
and Poodle. The main function of this group s is described to be to embody sheer
delight (AKC.org). They truly are big dogs in little packages. The Poodle,
Dalmatian, and Bulldog are examples of the 17 breeds you will find in the Non
Sporting Group. This is an extremely diverse group of dog breeds. Some are
extremely rare to find while other are seen all the time and everywhere. The breeds
in the Non Sporting Group are a varied collection in terms of size, coat, personality
and overall appearance (AKC.org). My personal favorite Group in the world of
dogs is the Herding Group. Consisting of the Collie, Border Collie, and German
Shepherd Dog (my all time favorite). This is an astounding group of
The Day My Dad Passed Away
May 11th 2001 A.K.A the day my dad passed away. The murderer was Leukemia.
For most people it s easier to lose your dad than your mom but my dad doubled as a
mother figure. My other birth parent walked out on my dad and I for this guy who
was like a hundred years younger than her. Cougar? No extreme cougar. The most
terrible thing about the even was that dad was in love. The feeling, apparently, wasn t
mutual. Anyway, because of the events that have occurred, I have to move in with
my AuntMel and my Uncle Pete. I ve been living with my cousins but they just got a
job opening in China and it s just too much work to have to move and learn a new
language. My aunt and uncle live in New York City which is where I have always
wanted to breathe in. . . . Okay I just need to say one thing. Airports totally suck. I
have to practically get undressed to just get on the plane. Plus there s too many
people so it s super confusing and chaotic. Forget the airport, the plane is even
more worse. My grandma made me watch the whole series of Final Destination at
her nursing home every time I went to visit. Everything in the whole world terrifies
me all because of that series. All that I could think about on the plane was one of
the engines going out and who would come to my funeral. So it turns out New York
lived up to expectations. Buildings so close together, BROADWAY, and even
McDonald was way better! Oh and did
Divorce Law
Divorce is a growing epidemic in Canada and the United States. It affects both
parties involved, being the spouses, and also has a profound affect on children of the
marriage. Recently our government has been revising the old divorce act. It was
apparent that it was time to revise the act because it did not properly protect the
children from being caught in the middle of things.
Divorce is defined as follows: to dissolve legally a marriage between; separate (one
of a married couple) from the other by divorce . The Canadian constitution allows
only the federal government to set divorce law. The government of Canadahas a
divorce act, and because it is a federal law, it applies fully and equally in all parts of
Canada and to all Canadian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the divorce act came into effect, the number of divorces granted by
Canadian courts increased quite noticeably. This jump in the rate is due mainly to
couples that had been separated for some time and could file for divorce
immediately. This being the resultant of the waiting period being dropped for three
years down to one. The new law also simplified the process, so some applicants
chose to wait for it to come into effect.
In today s National Post there was an article about the proposed changes to the
divorce act. It seems that Anne McLellan, the justice minister has decided to
postpone the controversial amendments to the act for another three years. Now the
introduction of legislation is expected in May, 2002. It seems our politicians are
more worried about being re elected then taking care of the interests of all the
children affected by divorce. The government claims to be pushing to do away with
old concepts like child ownership but does not fully endorse shared parenting . The
government is not willing to talk about rights, they claim to wish to talk about
concepts like shared responsibility.
As the number of divorces in Canada increases and our awareness on it s affects on
Canada s youth, we must come to the realization that something as
Outsiders In A Midsummer Night s Dream
From the viewpoint of a detached outsider, the discrepancies of human life are
seemingly simplistic and, to an extent, comical as seen in William Shakespeare s A
Midsummer Night s Dream. Our constant turmoil and strife due to trivial standards
can be seen as humorous to even the most unamused. However, a deeper insight into
the way in which we view life itself reveals a more profound understanding of the
world around us. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, the audience was able to clearly
see numerous incongruities between four primary characters: Lysander, Demetrius,
Hermia, and Helena. These individuals are representative of the human race; they are
irresolute, disobedient, yet ultimately endearing and relatable. The befuddled lovers
are the laughing stock of not only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, to the characters themselves, this was not a laughing matter. Through the
mischief, these characters are thrown out of balance. Such inconsistencies in people,
especially in relation to their loved ones, can be devastating, causing their lives to be
filled with constant misunderstanding and self doubt. Regardless, as outsiders, we
found their confusion comical. Our focus as an audience was on the shortcomings of
the characters and the humor their disarray invoked. Surface level perception such as
this is commonplace in society. Albert Einstein once said, Look deep... then you will
understand everything better. The characters of A Midsummer Night s Dream had
more depth than that of which is stereotypically associated with them. The true extent
to which these individuals could have amounted was never realized. This
comprehension of perspective can reach an even broader scope. If all aspects life are
considered more deeply, our ideals and actions as human beings can be understood
with limitless interpretations: from incredible

being Col. Nathan Jessep in making the movie goer not like him for many different
reasons. Jack nicholson uses plenty of emotion throughout the movie showing how
powerful he thinks he is, at times how corrupt and cuel he can be. You can tell from
Nicholsons facial expressions throughout the play on what he is thinking and what
he might want to do next. Jack nicholsons character in the film is abundantly high
thinking of himself, the way that he responds to the other officers is in a tone
making it crystal clear that he is above them in rank, but he alslo has a short teemper

Mineral Soft Inventory
In the months that we have had Mineral Soft, I have logged over way 100 hours
linking, tying and correcting the data that is in Mineral Soft. That s not including the
time it took me to create the spreadsheets required for the upload.
In the time, it took me to build out the spreadsheets plus the time it took for the
folks at Mineral Soft to upload our data, I could have created all the data that is in
Mineral Soft with the correct ties. It has taken more than 2.5 weeks to create all of
the tract allocations for the wells in OEP and OMR, so that we can see the revenue
associated with each acquisition. It was my understanding that things like this were
being done when I sent over the spreadsheets.

Not to mention, the random wells that OEP or OMR doesn t even own. Wells like the
one below (Mandaree 4 15H) were peppered throughout both entities. And I couldn t
find them on the Asset Tracker. Nor in the county records could I find where we
bought the interest in that Section, Township and Range combination. Did you know
there is no function to mark a well as Sold? My current work around is adding z to
the first part of well name. As the wells usually sort by name, adding the z to the
beginning pushes the sold wells to end of the list.
As for the Acquisitions, the tracts had to be tied and add the location information
needed to be entered. If the Notes field was on the upload, the adding of the location
information would have been done at the time of upload, saving me many hours.
Instead of having to input the information in Notes field; actually, having some of the
legal description as fields in the Acquisition tab would be wonderful. At least, having
the County and State as a field in the Acquisition area would be helpful.
Deeds called for adding the files and the lands covered, in the Notes field, for each
and every deed associated with OMR and OEP. Again, having at least the County
State for where the deed is recorded would be a great help. As it stands, the full legal
description for every deed is being entered in the Notes field. Which is quite time
consuming.

Introduction
The Mayor of Casterbridge is one of the masterpieces and the imperishable novel
of Thomas Hardy, although it has never enjoyed the popularity of Tess and Jude.
Hardy was at the height of his creative powers when he began work on it at the age
of forty four. Initially, the novel appeared serially, in twenty installments, in 1886
in an English periodical, The Graphic, and was published in book form in 1886
after revising for two or three times. The book appeared as soon as the serial
publication was complete but it differs a lot from the serial novel. It is a magnificent
novel, although Hardy himself was not entirely happy about it.
It was a story which Hardy fancied he had damaged more recklessly as an artistic
whole, in the interest of the newspaper in which it appeared serially, than perhaps
any other of his novels, his aiming to get an incident into each week s part causing
him in his own judgment to add events to the narrative somewhat too freely.1
On the first reading of the book, it seems to be a straightforward story but on deeper
analysis one can see that it is replete with symbols which have their own significance
and that can be interpreted variously if we analyze them as Thomas Hardy himself
wrote while The Mayor of Casterbridge was coming out serially that, My art is to
intensify the expression of things...so that the heart and inner

In the Dealey plaza, on Friday, November 22, 1963, Kennedy had been shot in the
head by a sniper, named Lee Harvey Oswald, while he had been traveling with his
wife for unknown reasons, all the while he was with the Texas Governor Jacqueline,
John Connally, and Connelly s wife, Nellie, in a presidential motorcade. A ten month
investigation from November 1963 to September 1964 by the Warren Commission
concluded that Oswald acted alone in shooting Kennedy for unknown reasons, while
Jack Rubyalso acted alone in what would be believed was a pursuit of vengeance
when he killed Oswald before he could stand trial. The Dallas Trade Mart had been

45 minutes had been allotted for the motorcade to reach the Dallas Trade Mart at a

Comparison and Contrast on Love Stories by Anton Chekhov
As one of Russia s greatest writers and playwrights of modern times, Anton Chekhov
wrote many plays and short stories during his lifetime. Among his stories, there are
two famous love stories; The Lady and the Dog and The Darling . In The Lady and
the Dog , which was published in 1899, Chekhov tells the story of Dmitri Gurov,
who is a Moscow banker intrigued by the sudden appearance of a young, upper
class lady who, as it turns out, is similarly disappointed with her love life and
husband. In The Darling , which is considered as one of Chekhov s finest novel,
Chekhov talks about Olenka, who is always lonely, insecure, and lacking
wholeness of herself without a man in life. In both stories, Chekhov presents the
actions and decisions of the main characters who meet by chance and fall in love.
He also uses colors to deliver both the changing feelings and spirits of the
protagonists. In The Lady and with the Dog and The Darling , both depicting
foreshadowing and the theme of love are similar, but the structure of plot and the
way of how the women protagonists love a man differ based on the plot and
conclusion.
One of similarities that both stories share is the use of foreshadowing. In The Lady
with the Dog and The Darling , Chekhov gives the readers clues to predict the future.
For example, in The Darling , when Olenka Plemyannikov marries Vanya Kukin, it

Psychological, environmental, and/or physiological factors are most commonly the
determinates of the onset of anorexia.
amp;#8220;The major psychological features seem to be the fear of maturing and
the fear of loss of control. ; (Mathews, 31) Many anorexics confirm that they do
become fearful of losing control in their life, which is why they turn to starvation and
deprivation. By becoming anorexic or developing anorexic patterns, they are able to
control their food intake and weight. Scientists also believe that most anorexics
develop the disease due to low self esteem. Girls, who are the most commonly

Anorexics with low self esteem often develop the disease in attempts to gain higher

Cuban Revolution Research Paper
The Cuban Revolution was an armed conflict against the Western backed dictator of
Cuba, Fulgencio Batista by Fidel Castro s 26 July movement. The revolution began in
1953, and continued sporadically until Batista got outsted in 1959, and his
government was replaced by a revolutionary Socialist State. This revolution had
strong domestic, and international consequences, such as completely changing Cubas
relationship with the United States, and started a period of political consolidation
where the Cuban economic and civil society were transformed. The revolution also
heralded an era of Cuban intervention in foreign military conflicts, such as the
Angolan Civil War and the Nicaraguan Revolution. Although Batista was seen as a

Additionally, the Cuban military was struggling, especially thanks to the U.S arms
embargo, which significantly decreased the power of Batista s army. In addition to
armed resistance, the revolutionaries launched their own rebel radio station, which
promoted the Castroist cause. Thanks to this, Castro grew to be very popular
among some Cubans. The revolution continued to rage after Castro defeated Batista
s forces on the Battle of La Plata and the Battle of Las Mercedes. After this success,
the revolutionaries started planning their own offensives against the military. Castro
s forces started sweeping around the country, gaining control of most of the island.
The final battle of the revolution was the Battle of Santa Clara, were the 26 July
movement brought a decisive victory, and caused Batista to flee for the Dominican
Republic on 1 January 1959. The revolutionaries then victoriously marched into
Havana, establishing a one party socialist rule of Cuba, and nationalizing the
economy. The leader of the reformed Cuba was to be Fidel
The Efficacy Of Neurologic Deficits From Cerebral In...
The efficacy of nimodipine in the reduction of neurologic deficits from cerebral
vasospasm in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH)
Introduction
Subarachnoid Haemorrhage (SAH) is the presence of blood in the subarachnoid
space. It is characterised by sudden onset of severe headache, often described as
thunderclap headache .[1] Eighty five percent of the cases are caused by an
aneurysm and 50% of patients diagnosed with SAH die.[2] The estimated incidence
of SAH was at 10 to 15 per 100 000 person years, but recent studies showed 6 to 8
per 100 000 person years.[3] A New Zealand study in 1985 showed higher incidence
rate of SAH in women than men.[4] Same findings were noted in one Australasian
study conducted in 2000, wherein among the four neurosurgical units tested within
Australia and New Zealand, results showed highest incidence of SAH in Auckland,
attributing mainly to the high incidence of SAH among Maori and Pacific
Islanders.[9] Cigarette smoking, uncontrolled hypertension, and excessive intake of
alcohol remain to constitute the biggest threat [17]. Ten percent of the cases were
also linked to a positive family history.[2] The risk is also increased during vigorous
activities like physical exercise, Valsalva manoeuvre during defecation, micturition
and sexual intercourse[19] relatively due to increased intracranial pressure associated
with these mechanisms.
Despite recent advancements of SAH management, neurologic deficits secondary to

Historical And Contemporary Situation Of Torres Strait...
I aim to focus on the historical and contemporary situation of Torres Strait Islander
and how the Edward Koiki Mabo (Eddie Mabo) decision has affected them.
History Background
Edward Koiki Mabo (Eddie Mabo) is the Australian Man born in 1936 from Torres
Strait Islander campaigning for Indigenous land rights. His decision for land rights
was the legal decision. In 1981, Mabo gave first speech at the land rights conference
at the James Cook University explaining the traditional land ownership and
inheritance system that his community followed on Mer Island. The lawyer in the
conference noted the significance of Mabo s speech and gave a suggestion there
should be a test case to claim land rights through the court system. The case was
heard for ten years, progressing from the Queensland Supreme Court to the high court
of Australia. The choice of high court judgment in the Mabo case came about a
clearing the myth of tera nullins and setting up a legitimate structure for native title
by indigenous Australian. People recognize that Indigenous Australian have a prior
claim to land taken by the British Crown since 1770. They were only land such as
vacant crown land, national parks and possibly some leased land, where the lease is
subjected to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is important because
it was the turning point for the recognition of Aboriginal and People right which
acknowledge their unique connection with land. The judgments of the High Court

The Importance Of The Catholic Religion
If you belonged to a Christian denomination, you were considered a Catholic before
the Reformation. Since the Reformation, there were many Christianity beliefs
introduced to the world. Roman Catholicism is still the most popular practice in the
world comparing to other beliefs. During worship, Catholic s make their rituals more
traditional, other than the Protestant s.
In the Catholic religion, there is a religious ritual believed to be judged by God called
the seven sacraments. These seven sacraments are organized into three groups: the
sacraments of initiation, consisting of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist; the
sacraments of healing, consists of Penance and Anointing of the Sick; and the
sacraments of service: Holy Orders and Matrimony. It is believed that in order to
have a fulfilled Christian life, you need to touch these stages sometime in your
life. As The Holy Bible says, Jesus then said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, it is
not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who
gives you the true bread out of heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes
down out of heaven, and gives life to the world. Then they said to Him, Lord,
always give us this bread. (John 6:32 35)
Death in the Catholic religion is thought to be the beginning of a special journey.
This special journey starts with the judgement of the truthful loving God, who has
the power to let you continue or not continue on your special journey. A reading in
The Holy Bible says, Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God;
believe also in me. My Father s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I
have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (John 14:1 2) For
those who can t continue, a different kind of journey begins. It is known that the
process of death to burial is a very long and complicated process. Luckily, the
deceased do not have to go through this ritual process alone as they have the Catholic
community supporting them.
It is truly unknown of what happens after death. In the Roman Catholic s view,
human life is a precious gift from God. In order to unite with God, we must be
restored to wholeness by a merciful Savior. According to The Holy Bible,
The Price Of Oil, Natural Disasters, Economic Trends And...
A number of theories have emerged as to why the price of oil has taken a severe
plummet since its peak in June 2014. The price of crude oil was around $115 a
barrel at in June 2014. By 2015, it had fallen by more than 40% to below $70 a
barrel. (Petroff) There has been exhausting speculation over this matter including
reasons relating to geopolitics, natural disasters, economic trends and the lack of
regulation by the Organization of PetroleumExporting Countries (OPEC). OPEC is
the vicar of oil pricing, but has clearly contributed to the drastic price drop in the
past year. The standard of OPEC is to ensure balance in the oil markets in order to
secure a proficiently economic and steady supply of petroleum to consumers.
(OPEC) In November 2014, OPEC failed to reach an agreement on setting a
standard of how much petroleum each OPEC nation could produce, which
essentially drove down the price of oil. If all of the countries in OPEC are not
mandated to supply a fixed amount of oil, they will produce enough to drive down
the price making it comfortable for consumers and importers to buy. This has been
part of the issue since the plunge began. This de regulation creates competition
because each oil producing country wants to set the most profitable price, which
requires oil production exceeding the typical OPEC standard. The plummeting prices
of oil have created positive and negative effects in different industries. The
transportation and industrial industry experience lower
Ponyboy In The Outsiders
Characters can have many personalities, some of which are admirable, others
which are reprehensible. In The Outsiders, S.E. Hinton makes Ponyboy an
admirable character. Ponyboy grows up as a greaser, and resents his life and the

about himself and can therefore overcome his own problems as well. Ponyboy is an
admirable characternot only because he is selfless and helps others, but also because
he overcomes his own problems and stays gold . Ponyboy is admirable because he is
a selfless character who helps the other gang members. For example, when the church
is on fire, Ponyboy and Johnny jump into the church and try to get the children out.

Analysis Of Instagram s Business Model
Situational Analysis: There are various factors that must be considered when
analyzing Instagram s business model and these must be discussed while outlining
viable strategies External Industry Analysis: Doing an external analysis on the
social media industry can give us some insights about the the level of competition
within the industry. Porter s five forces analysis is a framework that analyzes that
focuses on industrial organization economics in order to derive five forces that
determine the competitive intensity and therefore, the attractiveness of the
industry. Porter s Five Forces Intensity Supplier Power Low Threat of New
Entrance Moderate to High Threat of Substitutes High Current Competitors High
Buyer Power Moderate to High Supplier Power: Providers of storage, software,
technology, data center and office equipment, servers etc. are suppliers for
Instagram. Their bargaining power is evaluated to be low as Instagram is a large
scale customer application holding significant buying power. Also, there are large
number of companies offering services like storage and servers, thus, Instagram
can easily switch from one company to another. However, there are only a few
reputed suppliers for a large range of hardware and software supplies, and hence this
raises their bargaining power to an extent. Therefore, the supplier power is identified
as moderate. Threat of New Entrants: The internet business has low barriers to entry

Ontological Argument Against Anselm
Does God exist? According to Anselm of Canterbury of course God exists, and he
is able to explain how that is to be. Anselm uses the ontological argument to
essentially state that the only way for a perfect creator, God, to be even greater
would to exist in reality as opposed to thought, and thus, God exists. This logic is
argued against by many philosophers throughout time, most notably by a fellow
Benedictine monk, Gaunilo. Gaunilo uses the same logic in reference to the most
perfect island and shows the flaws to Anselm s logic. Gaunilo criticizes against
Anselm s view on how to confirm the existenceof God using the same method in a
form of reductio ad absurdum. In this case the example of a perfect island is utilized.

Road King Trucks Case Analysis Essay
Abstract
This paper is an analysis of Road King Trucks new project which is introducing a new
product into its product line. I will decide whether run the project or not. Six issues
will be discussed as follows 1) importance of energy cost; 2) project s cash flows; 3)
cost of capital; 4) choose an engine 5) evaluation 6) accept or reject.
We should accept the project because of the positive NPV and high IRR. We will
gain $532 million in wealth which is a big money on the scale like this. The
company has a bond rating of AA that makes the risk relatively low. So we should
definitely say yes.

The land was accounted for opportunity cost. If we don t run the project, we can sell
it and earn $6 million right now.
Cost of Capital (see table 2) I used WACC as the discount factor, we expect the rate
of return to be higher than it, the same at least. The WACC reflects the average risk
and overall capital structure of the entire firm [2]. It s the required return and it
presents how much the company pays for the capital it finances. In this case, the
cost of equity is 10.33%, the cost of debt is 6.50%. I calculated WACC using those
numbers and got a result of 8.49%.
Choose an Engine (see table 3)
There are two options for engines will be installed on buses. And so are the
warranties. The decision should be made according to engines quality,
effectiveness, etc. But to investors, cost is the main factor. In this case, Detroit
engine has an installation cost of $20,000 and a warranty of $1,000 each year for 5
years; the cost of installation of Marcus engine is $2,000 less but the warranty is
$1,500 per year. To figure out the cost I calculated the NPVs of each year for 20
years. The NPVs of the warranties for each bus are same at the year it been produced.
For example, the warranty of a Detroit engine has a NPV of $4,276 in the year it
been produced. (This method is coming from Mr. Hasse. I used to combine the
warranty for each year and use those numbers in calculation.)
The NPV of installation cost and warranty of Detroit engine is $252,154,
Helen Fisher Involuntary Celibacy
Celibacy is the state of voluntarily abstaining from sex or marriage. Involuntary
celibacy is someone who desires a romantic or sexual partner, but is unable to find
someone willing to be with them. It is not everyday that you hear the term
involuntary celibacy ; however, it is a term that haunts a small community of people
a majority of them being men. People in this community tend to refer to themselves
as Incels . Many in this community view women as the cause of their celibacy.
Involuntary celibacy stems from impatience and hatred towards women by young

The warrant can be issued under section 1 of the magistrates courts act (1980) and
must contain the name of the suspect and the offence they are alleged to have
committed. The decision to issue a warrant rests soley with the magistrate.
If the magistrate issues a warrant, the police officer may then make the arrest, even if
they have to use reasonable force to enter premises where they think the suspect
might be. The majority of warrants issued in England and Wales are for matters such
as matters such as:
Failure to appear in court
Breach of bail conditions
Failing to pay fines.
In reality, many arrests are carried out without a warrant. This is either because the
Police are called to the scene of a crime and must act rapidly, or because they do not
know who is about to be arrested before they deal with an incident and therefore
could not get a warrant.
Section 24 of PACE (1984) sets out the general powers of arrest which may be
exercised by the Police as well as the public. However, S24 of PACE was
substantially changed by the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (SOCPA,
2005). Section 110 of SOCPA replaced most of the existing powers of arrest with a
new general power of arrest. It also created Code G of PACE which sets out when an
officer might arrest. This power of arrest is only exercisable if the officer has
reasonable grounds for believing that it is necessary.

How can Mr. Cataldo help Yvette improve her studying habits?
Junior year is a pivotal year for high school students, especially since it revolves
around preparing for his or her college admissions process. For instance, juniors
normally take the SAT or ACT exams at least once before the beginning of his or
her senior year. Nonetheless, high school juniors tend to take advanced placement
courses as well, mainly because it gives he or she the opportunity to earn college
credits. Yvette, a high school junior has a habit of studying for her exams the night
before Mr. Cataldo recently discovered this. How can Mr. Cataldo help? Think
about it: First, Mr. Cataldo must have a one on one conversation with Yvette and
ask her why and how long has she been cramming for her exams. In order to help
Yvette, Mr. Cataldo must first identify the problem, followed by using his
pedagogical knowledge to develop a plan that can help Yvette. According to Dr.

Stereotypes Of The Rednecks
Many places in the world have multiple groups of people. However, throughout time,
many of these groups have changed, stayed the same, or have divided into multiple
subgroups. These subgroups tend to have their own stereotypes that all tie into one
big group of people. Take the rednecks for example. Rednecks have always been
around, but through time this big group has turned into different small groups.
Although there are many subgroups to the rednecks, the three main ones are the
hillbillies, the folk, and the farmers. The hillbillies are the most stereotyped of the
rednecks. Television depicts the hillbillies as primarily being incestuous, no teeth,
gun shooting, and trashy yard people. Most people in today s time believe that

copper as your teacher directs and determine its mass. Record this mass. XI.
Calculate the percent yield by using the theoretical yield that you determined in the
pre lab. Observations: Adding Iron to Copper (II) Sulfate * Got very hot * It started
sizzling * Made greenish/turquoise bubbles * A brownish sludge formed
These were all chemical reactions that took place. The reason that this is known is
because of table 7.1 on page 219 in the textbook.
Data: | Yield| Percent Yield| Theoretical:| 2.28 g Cu| 100 %| Actual:| 2.13 g Cu| 93.4 %|
Data Analysis: When weighing the mass of our product you get 2.13 grams. Also
when you figure out the percent yield you get 93.4%.
Conclusion:
I. The limiting reactant was 2.28 g Cu. Because iron is the limiting reactant. I know
this because when the equation is done iron ends up being the limiting reactant. II.
So iron would be the limiting reactant. You have unreacted iron that will mess up the
weight. III. So the impurities were washed away and the experiment is

What Is Prospero In The Tempest
In Shakespeare s Tempest, Prospero is in complete control of his life and the lives
of those around him. With the help of his spirit Ariel, he bends the weather and the
minds of others in order to produce the exact chain of events that will bring his
family back into power after his brother usurped his dukedom. From the beginning
of the play, he has a fairly accurate idea of what will happen and informs the reader
of his plans as the play progresses. However, one detail that Prospero fails to
mention is what the last third of his life consists of. Prospero reveals that one third
of his life is his daughter Miranda while another third is thoughts of his death. The
last third is not mentioned which leaves the reader guessing as to what Prospero
deems to be as significant in his life as his daughter and his death. With his
dukedom restored, his enemies at his mercy, and possession of his magic books,
the last third of his life is anything but predictable. Despite his large reliance on
magic, it seems that the rest of Prospero s life is concerned with his ultimate goal of
pleasing others. First, one should establish the scope of the first two thirds that
Prospero mentions. In act 4, scene 1, Prospero has given Ferdinand his daughter

He specifically states that his daughter and death are two thirds of his life. The last

he devises has the sole purposes of ensuring a good life for his daughter and

life truly consists of only the things that inspire us to act as Prospero breaks his life

Redefining the Tragic
The power of tragic heroes in literature is almost immeasurable in that they evoke
multiple emotions within the reader. Through pain and suffering, heroes of tragedy
fill the audience with not only terror and pity, but also relief through a cathartic
experience. Over two thousand years ago, Aristotle first defined what characteristics
make up a tragic hero. He claimed that heroes of tragedy must be fundamentally
decent, of noble status, and eventually destroyed by a situation that exposes their one
tragic flaw. Consider Chinua Achebes famous Things Fall Apart: the protagonist of
the novel, the once mighty and respected warrior, Okonkwo of Umofia, is the
paragon of the Aristotelian definition of a tragic hero. His suicide and loss of
power within the tribe is not caused by his negative qualities, but rather his respect
to his elders and their traditions. However, there are also characters of literature that
do not fulfill all of Aristotle s requirements and still leave the reader with an
overwhelming sense of tragedy. For instance, the main character of John Steinbeck s
Of Mice and Men, the average and short tempered, George Milton, fails to meet
several aspects of the ancient definition. Despite his low social status, George s
murder of his mentally disabled companion, Lennie, consumes the reader with a
feeling of both compassion and fear. Also consider The Good Earth by

The Kolb Experiential Learning theory (1984) drives a large component of my

and discovery. This theory is built around a learning cycle that involves 4 principles:
1) concrete experience, 2) reflective experience, 3) abstract conceptualization, and 4)
active experimentation. Educators initially provide learners with opportunities to use
concrete resources in learningabout new concepts. Students then review their learning
and reflect on the experience. This is followed by the opportunity to form abstract
ideas using the new concepts and finally testing the concepts in new circumstances

In support of the Kolb learning cycle, I employ the principles of Mayer s
Multimedia Cognitive Theory (2014) and provide my students with a wide variety
of resources that support the fourth grade curriculum. According to Mayer (2015),
students learn better with multimedia messages designed to reflect the workings of
the human mind. The theory is based on 3 principles: 1) we receive messages best
when they are delivered through two channels (audio/visual), 2) each of these
channels has a limited capacity for delivery, and 3) learning is a process that takes
place through filtering, organization, integration of knowledge based on prior
knowledge.

This book s setting was in contemporary America (Foerstel, 165). It reflects the
life of a family that is determined not to let its struggles overcome them (Alan, 1).
Originally written as a children s book (Fuller 1), Bridge to Terabithia has two
main characters, Jesse Oliver Aarons Jr., and Leslie Burke. Jess is the character
that comes from a poor background in a household that doesn t respect him
(Paterson, all). Leslie is the more kind character that influences Jess with her
personality, even though she does not believe in churchly teachings. May Bell
believes that Leslie s beliefs will condemn her to hell. Leslie became Jess friend by
beating him and his friends in a footrace (Alan, 1). Jess and Leslie later create their
own imaginary world to escape from reality, named Terabithia. One day, Jess wasn
t with Leslie, so she had to go to Terabithia alone, even though she was scared
(Paterson, all). She died attempting to enter Terabithia because the rope she was
using snapped and she fell into the creek and drowned (Alan, 1). Paterson wrote
that Leslie was cremated, although she does not know why (Grogan, 1). When
Leslie died, Jess was with one of his teachers at an art gallery in Washington (Alan
1). This scared his family because they were afraid that he had been with Leslie
and died with her. Jess was only angry at his family because he could not believe
that Leslie was really dead (Paterson, all). Jess did not come to terms with Leslie s
death for a long time (Alan 1). Although, by the end of the story, he builds an
actual bridge to Terabitha for his little sister May Bell to replace Leslie (Paterson,
all). Bridge to Terabithia placed ninth on the American Library Assocation s list of
100 books that had been banned between 1990 and 2000 (Grogan, 1). This book has
been on PFAW s list four times, coming in at 7th, 6th, 8th, and 10th (Alan, 1). It was

Features Of The Four Interpretive Modes
Erasure provides many examples of the four interpretive modes, in which should
was discussed various times throughout class. However, for this paper, only two of
those four interpretive modes will be discussed. To provide an example for one of
the four interpretive modes; the narrative interpretive mode might be the easiest to
explain and provide examples for, considering that as of right now, we live in a post
modern society and this book was written during present times. The allegorical and
moral interpretive modes provide the readers with the best and clear insight on the
story, and also both of these modes reflect each other well within the first five
chapters. Beginning with the allegorical interpretive mode. This interpretive mode is
made for the readers to looking beyond what is said within the text. Use symbols and
signs to figure out what the characters or the narrator is trying to portray. Within the
first five chapters, there was a theme that kept showing up. That recurring theme was
the theme of racism . There was no instance in the story where another raceshowed
the absolute hatred towards the black race, but there are little symbols within the
first five chapters that insist there is still racism directed at the minority race.
There was an even that took place at one of Monk s paper readings and there was a

Why Is Basketball Better Than Soccer
Competition is a vital aspect of a growing, productive life, and many people seek it
through the vast array of sports available in society. Basketball and soccer are two of
the most popular sports that share the same basic concepts of shooting and passing.
However, their differences create the prominent distinction between the two
competitions, for each sportutilizes different body part during the game, and their
regions of popularity greatly differ. Thousands of youth and puerile adults across the
world compete in the games of basketballand soccer, and the building blocks of
these two sports relate on a fundamental level. Coaches train players in passing and
shooting which increases the caliber of adeptness and competitiveness. A single
player is unable to carry a team, so each individual masters the ability to pass
effectively to teammates. Athletes, whether in soccer or basketball, analyze open
passing lanes and decide which option is best to advance their team down the court
or field. To win a game, scoring must happen which requires players to develop their
shooting form, so they can help pull their team to victory. They learn how to dodge,
cut, fake, and eventually shoot the ball at the proper angle to score.... Show more

Soccer promotes the use of the players feet while basketball manipulates the
competency of the players hands. In soccer, players dribble, pass, and shoot the ball
using only their feet so they can move the ball from position to position. Referees
even give penalties when hands connect with the ball, yet in stark contrast, basketball
bases its ball movement on the players hands. With quick, firm grips, they rotate the
ball s possession between teammates which later results in a full arm
Drug Normalisation Essay
The purpose of this essay is to further define and understand the meaning behind the
term normalisation and to what extent does this, combined with drug involvement,
play a central role in youth culture. Conclusively, it is important to figure out whether
the drug use among young in people in the UK is increasing enough for it to be
labelled as normalised . To what extent do drugs play a fundamental role in the
conventional everyday life of young adults? Combined with the above, this essay will
gather research studies that both support and challenge the theory of normalisation in
measuring the extent that drugnormalisation applies in UK society. The concept of
drug normalisation has long been a continuous and controversial debate for many
New Historicism In And Then There Were None By Agatha...
Outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare, Agatha Christie is the best selling
novelist of all time. She is best known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short
story collections, as well as the world s longest running play The Mousetrap (
Homepage ). The New Historicism Lens is a way for readers to speculate deeper
understandings of texts by relating the text to the historical era in which it was set or
written. Another aspect of this lens involves looking specifically at how the author s
life impacts their writing. Published in 1939, And Then There Were None by Agatha
Christie, continues to be one of Christie s most successful books, and with the use of
this lens, readers can observe historical happenings at the time it was written and how
events in Christie s life influenced her writing of this text.
In this text, readers are able to use New Historicism to connect the racism occurring
during the era when the book was written, to the text to gain a deeper understanding.

One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Nine little soldier boys sat up very late;

Negative Effects Of Beauty Pageants
Beauty pageants have been around for years and has become more accepted in
society but that does not mean that they are a good thing. The pageants can cause
numerous negative effects both emotionally and physically on the young children
taking part in them. Parents spend thousands of dollars a on pageants a year. From
traveling to clothes, spray tans, face teeth, hair and makeup. Using children as
miniature beauty queens in not normal and if society is going to continue to
accept this practice, then the rules need to change. Children s are not judged on
their natural beauty but on cosmetic beauty and flashy outfits. Young children are
being over sexualized and being made to look older and less like a five or six year
old. They do not have time to just be a child and do thing that other children do.
They are always preparing for their next pageant. Americas first beauty pageant
was held for adult women in 1854 but failed due to public protest that the contest
was immoral. Child beauty pageants became popular around 1885. The first child
pageant was called National Baby Show it attracted 143 child contestant and
61,999 viewers. In 1893 a pageant held at Asbury Park drew 30,000 specters.
Better baby contests caught in in the beginning of the 20th century. The contest
was usually held at state and country fairs. These contests sought to measure the
health of the babies and was primarily an effort to educate parents on new ways to
raise and protect their children. It was not just about spreading health information

cattle judging. The better baby contests come to an end in the 1950s, as well as

children congregated in public taboo. Through the summer of 1961 to 1971 little

regional child beauty pageants began to spring up. Unlike the little miss

Medieval Noble Women
The life of a noble woman in High to Medieval France was largely determined by
her marriage. Most of the marriages of the noble women were arranged by their
parents for achieving profit maximization. For noble women, the familial path of
arranged marriage was far more common than the personal path of marrying by
personal choice. Marriagewas largely based on power and wealth and was mostly
arranged in an early age of a noble woman. Generally, a noble woman married in an
early age to a suitable man that her parents thought could bring wealth and power,
which an elite woman was always married to a country to make peace agreements
and alliances that could bring benefits and peace to the royal family. The life of a

African American Slave Culture Essay
Music in the slave cultural was very essential to the slaves and their everyday
survival during the times of slavery. The music created by Africans during slavery
laid the foundation for all styles of African American music and culture as we know
today in society. There are a variety of types of slave genres such as religious songs,
work songs, and recreational songs. Each genre had its own types of functions,
characteristics, and expressions that slaves wanted to express through musicbut they
all had a commonality, which was that they all wanted to express strong emotions
toward physical experiences and physiological experiences that was endured as a
slave.
Religious songs were sacred and were used for religious worships. Religious songs
represented the practices of Christianity. Two examples of the religious songs I
listened to from the PBS Music in life module were Do Lord, Remember me and
Run Old Jeremiah . The song Do Lord, Remember me showed that it was
repetitive. The song lyrics Do, Lord, do, Lord, Lord, remember me was constantly
being repeated throughout the whole song, while a banjo accompanied the artist

Slaves performed recreational songs during recreational activities on Saturdays
and Sundays. Slave Master s encouraged slaves to sing for their entertainment and
to keep the slaves fit. Examples of recreational songs are Bile Them Cabbage
Down and Go to Sleep . The song Bile Them Cabbage Down was a fiddle tune, that
had a rhythmic syncopation. This tune seemed to be very uplifting and i could
only imagine how slaves was dancing to this tune. This tune was played using a
violin and gave a inspiring type of happiness. The song Go to Sleep gave a more
relaxing type of melody, and also was repetitive the artist constantly repeated Go to

The Effects Of Climate Change On The World
Climate change is one of the most crucial issues in the twentieth century. There is
much evidence to show fluctuations in weather occurring on the earth. Scientists
found that the period of global warming is occurring more frequently than the
previous time and rapidly increasing temperature globally. The statistic records on the
nineteenth century, calculated that the surface of earththroughout the 100 years ago
that had average increase of approximately 0.8C. However, during the period thirteen
years ago, the average temperature increase around 0.6C and continually warming
with an upward trend in the shortest period. These events cause drastic changes
which affect human life such as extreme weather (hotter and colder), food and fresh
water shortages and higher levels of the ocean. It is important for people to being
concern what happens now. This essay will focus on the main cause of anthropogenic
changing climate, in order to evaluate and link the outcome of activity.
Human activity contributed greenhouse gases especially four principal gases: carbon
dioxide (Co2), Methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O) and the halocarbons (a group of
gases containing fluorine chlorine and bromine) those gases cause the greenhouse
effect, by prevented radiation of sun from the earth release to the space. As a result,
the temperature rapid increase and continually change the atmosphere, causing the

What s In a Name?
The books The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian (written by Sherman
Alexie) and The House on Mango Street (written by Sandra Cisneros) follow young
adolescents as they come of age throughout the novel. In the former, Alexie writes
about Junior s struggle to come to terms with both his place in his Native American
heritage and his new found home in an all white school. The later contains the story
of a young Hispanic girl striving to defy the gender roles set in place by her family
and society. The role of society in both of these books, plays a key role in how their
respective main characters view themselves and their names. In The Absolutely True
Diary of a Part Time Indian and The House on Mango Street the characters struggle
with an identity crisis relating to their names, and the stereotypes that are associated
with them.
Junior grows up on the reservation where he has been bullied his whole life for
being different, only when leaving does he learn to accept his differences, and all
aspects of his personality, both Arnold and Junior. When he first enters Reardan his
birth name is introduced as Arnold, and when he tells people his name is junior
they do not believe him. Consequently, when he first meets Penelope he introduces
himself as Junior, then when his birth name is revealed he says this She accused me
of telling her my real name. Well, okay, it wasn t completely my real name ... My
name is Junior, I said. And my name is
Modern Portfolio Theory Is An Essential Part Of Higher
Return
Modern Portfolio Theory
Modern portfolio theory is an investment theory based on that investors can
construct portfolio to maximize return which based on a given level of market risk,
emphasizing that risk is an essential part of higher return. Modern portfolio theory is
one of the most significant economic theory dealing with finance and investment,
which was published by Harry Markowitz in his paper Portfolio Selection in 1952 by
Journal of Finance (Shipway, 2009).
According to Shipway (2009), the problem of direct real estate investment is the lack
of liquidity which compared with other investment media. The reason is real estate

Due to the characteristics of real estate market, most of institutions adapt modern
portfolio theory as a standard tool for understanding how the real estate market
behave, whether independently or as part of the overall investment holdings. The
modern portfolio theory would help investors to create a portfolio of investments that
produces predictable return. Risk in this system is defined as unstable return. The
application of modern portfolio theory to real estate would allows real estate
managers to understand both what to expect from real estate investments as a whole,
and how those real estate holdings fit into the overall portfolios. However, there are
some disagreements of applying modern portfolio theory to real estate. In 1993,
Young and Grieg reported that it has been proved mathematically that real estate is
unsuitable for modern portfolio theory analysis, because real estate is heterogeneous
and the real estate market is illiquid and different to the stock market. Young and
Grieg have indicated that due to the investment returns depend on different
circumstances of investment properties, the modern portfolio theory is an inaccurate
guide for real estate asset allocation (ibid). However, they compared two different
properties performance and the returns of the two properties are definitely different.
They reported that diversification by real estate type and

TV has restored the daily life of family, Photography has altered the way we look at
the world, the computer has changed everything. (Mark Katz, 2010)
It is true the computer has converted everything into digital. Digital technology has
also changed the ways of sound and voice recording. It has gradually led to the
changes not only in the production of sound but also in the views of society, precisely
consumers and producers. Since the 70 s, the computer, music and audio industries

Signing to a record label and a contract, the artists have transferred ownership of
copyrights to the producers and fans could only buy pre recorded music with labels.
However, the new digital music industry has now the abundance of obstacles for
artists and music fans. With the launch of streaming services for high speed Net
access in the smart phones and tablets, the only remaining piece of the old industry
s music network is AM/FM radio in cars but sooner or later, this final change will
also make it collapsed.
The Role of Digital Technology in Contemporary Era * Consumers Views on
Digital Technology Over two decades, digital technology introduced by the
computer industry has made outside influences on recording practice changed
drastically. The Internet also provided a new way to distribute music with new
formats such as mp3, mpeg, and wav; and this led to the rise of the P2P (peer to
peer) file sharing technology. According to Persson (2006), music consumers are
not only the major supporters of recordings, but also of other technical products,
supporting changes in playback equipment and home recording technologies. Music
fans do not need labels, retail stores and media outlets any more, to listen to pre
recorded music before buying it. Public has access to all music and makes their own
decisions to select and buy the songs they like. Therefore, more people are now

Lucian Freud
Freud, Lucian (1922 ). German born British painter. He was born in
Berlin, a grandson of Sigmund Freud, came to England with his parents in 1931,
and acquired British nationality in 1939. His earliest love was drawing, and he

since then he has built up a formidable reputation as one of the most powerful

Freud s subjects are often the people in his life; friends, family, fellow painters,

exhibition will range from Girl with Roses 1948 to Garden, Notting Hill Gate 1997,
and highlights include the marvellous series of portraits of his mother, portraits of
fellow painters John Minton, Michael Andrews and Frank

maturity, paintings filled with life and liveliness, each in its way a celebration.
I paint people , Freud has said, not because of what they are like, not exactly in
spite of what they are like, but how they happen to be . Until the mid 1950 s, Freud
worked in a tightly focused style, which he had begun to use at the East Anglian
School of Drawing and
Painting, run by Cedric Morris. The school was very informal; as Freud said, there
was No teaching much but there were models and you could work in your own room
. In many ways he worked by trial and error:
Landscape with Birds (no. 3, shown in room 1) was an experiment with the kind of
enamel paint he thought was used by Picasso. As he said later, Learning to paint is
literally learning to use paint.
Around 1956 Freud exchanged his finely pointed

Expository Essay Introduction

  • 1. Expository Essay Introduction Crafting an essay on the topic of "Expository Essay Introduction" can present a unique set of challenges. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between providing a clear and concise introduction that captures the essence of the topic while avoiding unnecessary details. Expository essays demand a meticulous approach to presenting information, requiring a thorough understanding of the subject matter to convey it accurately to the audience. One challenge is selecting the most relevant and compelling information for the introduction. It's crucial to identify key points that not only introduce the topic but also set the stage for the rest of the essay. This process involves careful consideration of the target audience, as the introduction should cater to their level of understanding and interest. Furthermore, achieving clarity in expression is another obstacle. The introduction must be articulate, engaging, and free of jargon that might confuse the reader. Striking the right tone is vital, as the introduction should pique the reader's interest without giving away too much information, encouraging them to delve deeper into the essay. In addition to content and clarity, adhering to proper essay structure poses its own set of challenges. Ensuring a logical flow of ideas, incorporating a strong thesis statement, and seamlessly transitioning from the introduction to the body of the essay requires finesse. Despite these challenges, mastering the art of crafting an effective expository essay introduction can be immensely rewarding. It not only hones one's writing skills but also enhances the ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner. • 2. Rise Of Organized Crime Organized crime is an outcome of prohibition in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century. The government was trying to uphold the Volstead Act of 1920, but bootlegging rings continued to grow nationally as well as internationally. The Wickersham Commission of 1930 led to a crackdown on political corruption and began a repetitive prohibition period in which organized crimeleaders had a new way to commit crimes and come up with a profit in the end. In the 1930 s Lucku Luciano and Louis Leoke Buchalter created a crime group they called the Syndicate which was made up of criminals all across the country and punished anyone who violated their ways. Luciano ended up convicted, Buchalter was executed, and Murder INC was broken down,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, there are the major gangs like the Crips and the Bloods, but gang violence and activity is a problem in the United States today. Back in 2005, the Department of Justice said there were at least 21,500 gangs and more than 731,000 active gang members. Gangs are more popular in cities than rural areas, but gang violence is said to be the cause of half of all homicides. So if it was 731,000 11 years ago, I am sure the number has risen since then and will continue to grow if the U.S. does not find a way to contain it. I think gang activity is something that law enforcement does not spend enough time addressing. I live about 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. and I know there is gang activity there, but I never hear anything about it. A local area called Manassas has a gang called MS13, a mainly Hispanic gang and I never hear anything about it. I think there are so many other things going on in the world that gang activity tends to be overlooked. If we want gang activity to lower we have to stop young people from continuing to join gangs. Gang members describe gangs as a family, and to youth that is lacking a home environment, it may seem like the right path for them to take. Parents have to be more in their kid s lives and business to lower the chances of gangs continuing to grow. Having interactive parents can build a child up to where they do not feel the peer pressure to join a gang or need that in their lives to feel complete I think law enforcement could be doing more, but it all starts at home in my
  • 3. Akc Dog Breeds Essays We humans classify everything that we have come to know in this world, from elements to all God s creatures. Man likes to know he has control and the classification and selective processes man takes are all for control. Even mans best friend has been narrowed down into groups which man created. In each group are dogs that have been breed for a specific use to help man do a job faster, easier, and more efficiently. Every breed is assigned to one of seven groups, based on the uses for which the breeds were originally developed (AKC.org). Mans best friendhas been categorized into the: Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non Sporting, Herding, and Sporting Groups. The Hound Group contains such popular dogs as the Basset Hound, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This group contains the Skye Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, and Fox Terrier (Smooth and Wire) but there are a total of 25 different breeds recognized. In the old days they were used for hunting and killing vermin in many different situations. These dogs are very determined and are often described as thinking they re larger than they really are. They require owners with the determination to match their dogs lively characteristics (AKC.org). With 20 separate breeds in it, the Toy Group is full of energy. These dogs may look little and fragile but many Toys are tough as nails (AKC.org). This group is popular for people who don t have a lot of space for a larger dog. This group contains the ever lovable Chihuahua, Italian Greyhound, and Poodle. The main function of this group s is described to be to embody sheer delight (AKC.org). They truly are big dogs in little packages. The Poodle, Dalmatian, and Bulldog are examples of the 17 breeds you will find in the Non Sporting Group. This is an extremely diverse group of dog breeds. Some are extremely rare to find while other are seen all the time and everywhere. The breeds in the Non Sporting Group are a varied collection in terms of size, coat, personality and overall appearance (AKC.org). My personal favorite Group in the world of dogs is the Herding Group. Consisting of the Collie, Border Collie, and German Shepherd Dog (my all time favorite). This is an astounding group of
  • 4. The Day My Dad Passed Away May 11th 2001 A.K.A the day my dad passed away. The murderer was Leukemia. For most people it s easier to lose your dad than your mom but my dad doubled as a mother figure. My other birth parent walked out on my dad and I for this guy who was like a hundred years younger than her. Cougar? No extreme cougar. The most terrible thing about the even was that dad was in love. The feeling, apparently, wasn t mutual. Anyway, because of the events that have occurred, I have to move in with my AuntMel and my Uncle Pete. I ve been living with my cousins but they just got a job opening in China and it s just too much work to have to move and learn a new language. My aunt and uncle live in New York City which is where I have always wanted to breathe in. . . . Okay I just need to say one thing. Airports totally suck. I have to practically get undressed to just get on the plane. Plus there s too many people so it s super confusing and chaotic. Forget the airport, the plane is even more worse. My grandma made me watch the whole series of Final Destination at her nursing home every time I went to visit. Everything in the whole world terrifies me all because of that series. All that I could think about on the plane was one of the engines going out and who would come to my funeral. So it turns out New York lived up to expectations. Buildings so close together, BROADWAY, and even McDonald was way better! Oh and did
  • 5. Divorce Law Divorce is a growing epidemic in Canada and the United States. It affects both parties involved, being the spouses, and also has a profound affect on children of the marriage. Recently our government has been revising the old divorce act. It was apparent that it was time to revise the act because it did not properly protect the children from being caught in the middle of things. Divorce is defined as follows: to dissolve legally a marriage between; separate (one of a married couple) from the other by divorce . The Canadian constitution allows only the federal government to set divorce law. The government of Canadahas a divorce act, and because it is a federal law, it applies fully and equally in all parts of Canada and to all Canadian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the divorce act came into effect, the number of divorces granted by Canadian courts increased quite noticeably. This jump in the rate is due mainly to couples that had been separated for some time and could file for divorce immediately. This being the resultant of the waiting period being dropped for three years down to one. The new law also simplified the process, so some applicants chose to wait for it to come into effect. In today s National Post there was an article about the proposed changes to the divorce act. It seems that Anne McLellan, the justice minister has decided to postpone the controversial amendments to the act for another three years. Now the introduction of legislation is expected in May, 2002. It seems our politicians are more worried about being re elected then taking care of the interests of all the children affected by divorce. The government claims to be pushing to do away with old concepts like child ownership but does not fully endorse shared parenting . The government is not willing to talk about rights, they claim to wish to talk about concepts like shared responsibility. As the number of divorces in Canada increases and our awareness on it s affects on Canada s youth, we must come to the realization that something as
  • 6. Outsiders In A Midsummer Night s Dream From the viewpoint of a detached outsider, the discrepancies of human life are seemingly simplistic and, to an extent, comical as seen in William Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream. Our constant turmoil and strife due to trivial standards can be seen as humorous to even the most unamused. However, a deeper insight into the way in which we view life itself reveals a more profound understanding of the world around us. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, the audience was able to clearly see numerous incongruities between four primary characters: Lysander, Demetrius, Hermia, and Helena. These individuals are representative of the human race; they are irresolute, disobedient, yet ultimately endearing and relatable. The befuddled lovers are the laughing stock of not only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, to the characters themselves, this was not a laughing matter. Through the mischief, these characters are thrown out of balance. Such inconsistencies in people, especially in relation to their loved ones, can be devastating, causing their lives to be filled with constant misunderstanding and self doubt. Regardless, as outsiders, we found their confusion comical. Our focus as an audience was on the shortcomings of the characters and the humor their disarray invoked. Surface level perception such as this is commonplace in society. Albert Einstein once said, Look deep... then you will understand everything better. The characters of A Midsummer Night s Dream had more depth than that of which is stereotypically associated with them. The true extent to which these individuals could have amounted was never realized. This comprehension of perspective can reach an even broader scope. If all aspects life are considered more deeply, our ideals and actions as human beings can be understood with limitless interpretations: from incredible

Rob Reiner does an excellent job importing Charachter, Diction, and Spectical in this magnificent film.Throughout the movie a great sense of Charachter and Diction is potrayed with excellent actors. Jack Nicholson in this movie does a outstanding job being Col. Nathan Jessep in making the movie goer not like him for many different reasons. Jack nicholson uses plenty of emotion throughout the movie showing how powerful he thinks he is, at times how corrupt and cuel he can be. You can tell from Nicholsons facial expressions throughout the play on what he is thinking and what he might want to do next. Jack nicholsons character in the film is abundantly high thinking of himself, the way that he responds to the other officers is in a tone making it crystal clear that he is above them in rank, but he alslo has a short teemper throughout the film you will se him use sarcasm or anger to show his pig headedness. Rob Reiners film showes imense spectical throughout the movie. Using military uniforms and filming this movie on an actual base at times, makes this movie an all together great source of spectical. That s not including the time it took me to create the spreadsheets required for the upload. In the time, it took me to build out the spreadsheets plus the time it took for the folks at Mineral Soft to upload our data, I could have created all the data that is in Mineral Soft with the correct ties. It has taken more than 2.5 weeks to create all of the tract allocations for the wells in OEP and OMR, so that we can see the revenue associated with each acquisition. Nor in the county records could I find where we bought the interest in that Section, Township and Range combination. Did you know there is no function to mark a well as Sold? My current work around is adding z to the first part of well name. As the wells usually sort by name, adding the z to the beginning pushes the sold wells to end of the list. As for the Acquisitions, the tracts had to be tied and add the location information needed to be entered. If the Notes field was on the upload, the adding of the location information would have been done at the time of upload, saving me many hours. Instead of having to input the information in Notes field; actually, having some of the legal description as fields in the Acquisition tab would be wonderful. At least, having the County and State as a field in the Acquisition area would be helpful. Deeds called for adding the files and the lands covered, in the Notes field, for each and every deed associated with OMR and OEP. Again, having at least the County State for where the deed is recorded would be a great help. As it stands, the full legal description for every deed is being entered in the Notes field. Which is quite time consuming. The only function I didn t spend massive
  • 9. The Mayor Of Casterbridge, Symbolism, Animal Kingdom,... Keywords:Thomas Hardy, The Mayorof Casterbridge, Symbolism, Bird Imagerey, Animal Kingdom, Philosophy Introduction The Mayor of Casterbridge is one of the masterpieces and the imperishable novel of Thomas Hardy, although it has never enjoyed the popularity of Tess and Jude. Hardy was at the height of his creative powers when he began work on it at the age of forty four. Initially, the novel appeared serially, in twenty installments, in 1886 in an English periodical, The Graphic, and was published in book form in 1886 after revising for two or three times. The book appeared as soon as the serial publication was complete but it differs a lot from the serial novel. It is a magnificent novel, although Hardy himself was not entirely happy about it. It was a story which Hardy fancied he had damaged more recklessly as an artistic whole, in the interest of the newspaper in which it appeared serially, than perhaps any other of his novels, his aiming to get an incident into each week s part causing him in his own judgment to add events to the narrative somewhat too freely.1 On the first reading of the book, it seems to be a straightforward story but on deeper analysis one can see that it is replete with symbols which have their own significance and that can be interpreted variously if we analyze them as Thomas Hardy himself wrote while The Mayor of Casterbridge was coming out serially that, My art is to intensify the expression of things...so that the heart and inner

Causes Of Planned Obsolescence The cause is planned obsolescence that is what causes all of this, the main company makes products that don t last and every year they force you to buy a new product because the old product that you have brought is not working anymore so they force you buy a new product because buying a new product is cheaper than repairing the product. The issue is planned obsolescence and a society that wants the latest and greatest, if it is old I have use for it anymore and we need to get the latest version. Planned Obsolescence, planned obsolescence is a method of designing products that wear out because the model is out dated and the products has an expiry date basically that can be used up to and cannot be used later than that because it is built into product and it cannot be taken out the product. • 24. The Importance Of The Catholic Religion If you belonged to a Christian denomination, you were considered a Catholic before the Reformation. Since the Reformation, there were many Christianity beliefs introduced to the world. Roman Catholicism is still the most popular practice in the world comparing to other beliefs. During worship, Catholic s make their rituals more traditional, other than the Protestant s. In the Catholic religion, there is a religious ritual believed to be judged by God called the seven sacraments. These seven sacraments are organized into three groups: the sacraments of initiation, consisting of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist; the sacraments of healing, consists of Penance and Anointing of the Sick; and the sacraments of service: Holy Orders and Matrimony. It is believed that in order to have a fulfilled Christian life, you need to touch these stages sometime in your life. As The Holy Bible says, Jesus then said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world. Then they said to Him, Lord, always give us this bread. (John 6:32 35) Death in the Catholic religion is thought to be the beginning of a special journey. This special journey starts with the judgement of the truthful loving God, who has the power to let you continue or not continue on your special journey. A reading in The Holy Bible says, Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (John 14:1 2) For those who can t continue, a different kind of journey begins. It is known that the process of death to burial is a very long and complicated process. Luckily, the deceased do not have to go through this ritual process alone as they have the Catholic community supporting them. It is truly unknown of what happens after death. In the Roman Catholic s view, human life is a precious gift from God. In order to unite with God, we must be restored to wholeness by a merciful Savior. According to The Holy Bible,
  • 25. The Price Of Oil, Natural Disasters, Economic Trends And... A number of theories have emerged as to why the price of oil has taken a severe plummet since its peak in June 2014. The price of crude oil was around $115 a barrel at in June 2014. By 2015, it had fallen by more than 40% to below $70 a barrel. (Petroff) There has been exhausting speculation over this matter including reasons relating to geopolitics, natural disasters, economic trends and the lack of regulation by the Organization of PetroleumExporting Countries (OPEC). OPEC is the vicar of oil pricing, but has clearly contributed to the drastic price drop in the past year. The standard of OPEC is to ensure balance in the oil markets in order to secure a proficiently economic and steady supply of petroleum to consumers. (OPEC) In November 2014, OPEC failed to reach an agreement on setting a standard of how much petroleum each OPEC nation could produce, which essentially drove down the price of oil. If all of the countries in OPEC are not mandated to supply a fixed amount of oil, they will produce enough to drive down the price making it comfortable for consumers and importers to buy. This has been part of the issue since the plunge began. This de regulation creates competition because each oil producing country wants to set the most profitable price, which requires oil production exceeding the typical OPEC standard. The plummeting prices of oil have created positive and negative effects in different industries. The transportation and industrial industry experience lower

The WACC reflects the average risk and overall capital structure of the entire firm [2]. It s the required return and it presents how much the company pays for the capital it finances. Junior year is a pivotal year for high school students, especially since it revolves around preparing for his or her college admissions process. For instance, juniors normally take the SAT or ACT exams at least once before the beginning of his or her senior year. Nonetheless, high school juniors tend to take advanced placement courses as well, mainly because it gives he or she the opportunity to earn college credits. Yvette, a high school junior has a habit of studying for her exams the night before Mr. Cataldo recently discovered this. How can Mr. Cataldo help? Think about it: First, Mr. Cataldo must have a one on one conversation with Yvette and ask her why and how long has she been cramming for her exams. In order to help Yvette, Mr. Cataldo must first identify the problem, followed by using his pedagogical knowledge to develop a plan that can help Yvette. According to Dr. Klemm (2012), Students may be forced to cram because they have procrastinated or did not have a regular, organized, and disciplined approach to study (p. 1). Thus, it seems that Yvette needs help establishing a disciplined approach to studying it begins in the classroom. With the help of his spirit Ariel, he bends the weather and the minds of others in order to produce the exact chain of events that will bring his family back into power after his brother usurped his dukedom. From the beginning of the play, he has a fairly accurate idea of what will happen and informs the reader of his plans as the play progresses. However, one detail that Prospero fails to mention is what the last third of his life consists of. Prospero reveals that one third of his life is his daughter Miranda while another third is thoughts of his death. The last third is not mentioned which leaves the reader guessing as to what Prospero deems to be as significant in his life as his daughter and his death. With his dukedom restored, his enemies at his mercy, and possession of his magic books, the last third of his life is anything but predictable. Despite his large reliance on magic, it seems that the rest of Prospero s life is concerned with his ultimate goal of pleasing others. First, one should establish the scope of the first two thirds that Prospero mentions. In act 4, scene 1, Prospero has given Ferdinand his daughter Miranda in marriage. In doing so... Redefining the Tragic The power of tragic heroes in literature is almost immeasurable in that they evoke multiple emotions within the reader. Through pain and suffering, heroes of tragedy fill the audience with not only terror and pity, but also relief through a cathartic experience. Over two thousand years ago, Aristotle first defined what characteristics make up a tragic hero. He claimed that heroes of tragedy must be fundamentally decent, of noble status, and eventually destroyed by a situation that exposes their one tragic flaw. Consider Chinua Achebes famous Things Fall Apart: the protagonist of the novel, the once mighty and respected warrior, Okonkwo of Umofia, is the paragon of the Aristotelian definition of a tragic hero. His suicide and loss of power within the tribe is not caused by his negative qualities, but rather his respect to his elders and their traditions. However, there are also characters of literature that do not fulfill all of Aristotle s requirements and still leave the reader with an overwhelming sense of tragedy. For instance, the main character of John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, the average and short tempered, George Milton, fails to meet several aspects of the ancient definition. Despite his low social status, George s murder of his mentally disabled companion, Lennie, consumes the reader with a feeling of both compassion and fear. Also consider The Good Earth by

Basketball and soccer are two of the most popular sports that share the same basic concepts of shooting and passing. Thousands of youth and puerile adults across the world compete in the games of basketballand soccer, and the building blocks of these two sports relate on a fundamental level. Coaches train players in passing and shooting which increases the caliber of adeptness and competitiveness. A single player is unable to carry a team, so each individual masters the ability to pass effectively to teammates. Athletes, whether in soccer or basketball, analyze open passing lanes and decide which option is best to advance their team down the court or field.
