80 s Fashion Trends Essay
The 1990 s was known to be one of American s favorite decades. It was a time period of grunge
music, great TV shows, fun toys and electronics, but out of all the amazing, popular trends in the
90 s, my absolute, all time favorite is the fashion. Back in the 80 s, people were more dressed and
dolled up, but the 90 s generation was way more laid back when it came to clothing. There was a
wide variety of casual grunge filled with chokers, band tees, flannels, Doc Martens, and so much
more. In the 1990 s decade the biggest rock trend was Punk Rock music. The band that was
considered the anthem of Grunge was Nirvana, lead singer Kurt Cobain, in 1994 committed
suicide. Everyone loved him and was devastated. After his death, people started dressing in honor of
the band and their music.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the 80 s dress was more elaborate, the 90 s was more easygoing. The most common thing
the public wore was band T s, Doc Martens, baggy jeans, and flannels. There were some other
accessories such as Jansport backpacks, Baby G s, and big watches were a big deal; also tattoo
chokers, the more you wore, the more popular you were. Overalls were pretty vogue as well, but
make sure one strap is undone! As I mentioned earlier, Cobain s death had a huge impact in the
90 s. Apparel was mostly influenced by the music at the time. Grunge clothing was already in the
rage before the suicide of Kurt Cobain, but after that, society made sure to carry on this course for
remembrance and in honor of the lead singer. Most people would say they miss this time period.
The fashion is coming back in style. I mean, hey, I m wearing a flannel at this moment.
Personally, I wish I grew up in the 90 s. The clothing style was pretty broad and casual while very
grungy. But, it wasn t all dark and hard rock; it was more of a soft grunge. Need a better visual?

Nursing Leadership Style Analysis
Leadership Style and Self Assessment Leadership comes in many different forms, and is a
curtail element of a health care organization. This paper will describe leadership styles,
management theories, and my style of leadership in reference to the self assessment completed.
I will discuss what leadership styles align with my style and what type of work environment and
behaviors that will help me be a successful leader. I will also discuss different types of leadership
theories. There are many aspects to being a leader and every good organization has good leaders
behind it. Leadership is a key element in nursing due to the fact that nurses are often working in
teams (Huber, 2014, p.3). Personal Leadership Style There are three different types... Show more

(2016). p.33). There are many traits that a leader must have to be able to be successful. Three
that come to mind are trustworthy or honest, motivated, and knowledgeable. Ever leader needs
to be honest and have the trust of those who are following them. This is essential for any plan or
idea to be carried out steadily. Also, open communication cannot happen if one does not trust
their leader. Next, a leader must be motivated and have energy. If a leader is not motivated, those
who are following them are also not going to be motivated either. Someone has to be able to
push others to keep up the hard work to get to where they need to be. Lastly, a leader needs to be
knowledgeable. At work, often when faced with something that I do not know the answer to, I
go to my charge nurse who is very knowledgeable on almost all situations that may arise. If
lacking any vital knowledge, staff under that leader will not have anyone to go to in times of
need. This leads to the follower being lost and not knowing what the next step is in their situation.
All of these traits are what I like to see in a leader in my work

Dell Inc. Company s Strategy
Dell Inc., which is headquartered in Texas, was founded by Michael Dell in the year 1984, and
the company s strategy when it came to distributing differed from other competitors in the
computing industry due to the fact it did business with its customers directly versus using
middlemen such as retailers or and wholesalers. This afforded Dell s customers the ability to
have computers built to their specification as they order them, and kept the company s costs at
low levels. The company s website brought in one million dollars on its own in 1997. The

Let Me Die
Let Me Die I Want Eternity In May Miller s Poem Death is not Master the persona explains that
death is not the master that will increase desperation, but it is a way to become eternally calm.
Many poems on the topic of death explain how it is as powerful of a thing that fears the
existence of human beings, but Miller s persona death is used in such way to achieve eternal
serenity. She explains death as something that can end all the worlds tears, desires and tension
and transform the human memory into a sculpture which is unaware of tensions. Miller s
persona believes that by blocking death it will be unfair as it will be a barrier to the everlasting
happiness and calmness that lies inside the grave. It is an elaboration of Christian beliefs of
how death ends all worldly problems as an eternal life starts after the death. The eternal life of a
human or corpse after death is same as that of sculpture which shines at night and remains in one
place free of all tensions and problems. As the life after death is full of calmness and happiness,
so it must not be blocked and everyone must welcome it to gain the everlasting lasting life. Thus,
conveying Miller s idea of how the perspective death is not the master; instead, it is the slave of
eternal life of serenity and calmness that lies ahead. So, no one should try to become a barrier by
blocking the death. Repetition of you six times and I three times symbolizes the relationship
between I and You who love each other

Unlocking The Vault Summary
In the magazine, I read Unlocking the Vault an article by Carlin Flora. She depicts that people
are hiding secrets from others and most of all, themselves. Not all secrets are necessarily bad
things such as cheating, but could be information that the person can use as leverage. We keep
secrets because of shame and to avoid hurting others. Keeping secrets can be a destructive act
towards not only you, but of others as well. I believe this article definitely appeals to all modes
of persuasion because it is something that everyone has or will deal with some time in their lives.
With ethos, people will look over their values. Some will keep their secret from others because they
value the relationship with those group or people. Then you have

Gallipoli Movie Review Essay
The film Gallipoli takes place during World War I s Gallipoli campaign in 1915. The two main
characters in the film are Archy and Frank. Archy and Frank are from Western Australia and they
both enlist to fight in Gallipoli. Archy is an extremely fast runner who meets Frank at an athletics
competition. We can see from the beginning that Archy is eager to join the war. After being turned
down because he was underage, he goes to Perth, anxious for someone to accept him into the light
horsemen. Frank, however, is skeptical about Australians wanting to join the war. He tells Archy
that it s not our war to fight . Despite this statement, Frank eventually joins up into the Infantry.
The story revolves around Frank and Archy s experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Archy and Frank stick together through all of the war training exercises in Egypt and they fight
together on the front at Gallipoli.
Another element of mate ship is shown in the last part of the film. When the final battle of
Gallipoli approaches, Archy persuades Major Barton to assign Frank as his runner because Archy
knows that Frank does not have as much commitment as he does on the fighting service. Archy
gets Frank a safer position and decided to sacrifice his own life for his best mate. (Gammage)
Some more ideals that are glorified in the film are bravery and honor. The experiences at Gallipoli
gave Australians a new identity which made them distinguishable from any other nation. At the
start of the film we see that almost everyone wants to enlist in the war. Although many Australian
men enlist totally naive to the dangers awaiting them, once they are in Gallipoli they fight
fearlessly, with the attitude that they are doing it for their country. Anyone who is studying
Australian history would do well to watch this film. The film is historically accurate which means
that students can use it as a direct source of information and evidence. The fact that the film is
portrayed as a dramatized story makes the many aspects of Australia and its participation of World
War I much easier to understand than a any text book would. (Broadbent)
The film creates a feeling of empathy which

Betrayal In Othello Research Paper
By definition, betrayal is the act of deliberate dishonesty and disloyalty (vocabulary.com). It is a
common concept in which can destroy people and their relationships. Throughout William
Shakespeare s play Othello, acts of betrayal are committed among characters when Iago betrays
Othello, Othello betrays Desdemona, and finally, when Othellobetrays himself. Revenge plays a
major role as to why Shakespeare includes betrayal to form conflicts and help advance the
tragically dramatic plot. To begin, the main characters, Iagoand Othello, introduce this act of
betrayal by creating conflicts due to jealousy. Originally, the plan for revenge began when Iago
dreamed and expected to be the general Othello s lieutenant; however, Othello chose Cassio....

Shakespeare includes this betrayal because it precisely displays an example where passion can

Gender, Contingencies of Self Worth, and Achievement Goals as Predictors of Academic Cheating
in a Controlled Laboratory Setting
Study Objective:
In this research, experimenters were curious as to see how gender differences related to cheating.
Based off this the experimenters further evaluated how competition and virtue played an affect on
how little or how much one might cheat. As noted in the title, Gender, Contingencies of Self Worth,
and Achievement Goals as Predictors of Academic Cheatingin a Controlled Laboratory Setting,
these contingencies were the focal point of this study. Studies before had been based off self report

In this time, the confederate obtained the answer key and proceeded to copy the answers as well as
asking the participant if they wanted to cheat. If the participant rejected the offer they then asked
again. The confederate then left the classroom to use the restroom leaving the participant alone.
This allowed for them to either cheat off the confederates test or the answer key. The experimenter
returned shortly after and collected the test. Then, the participants took a short 4 question
questionnaire with open ended questions about the test. Afterwards the participants were debriefed.
The research conducted in this study was experimental. You can tell because it was in a laboratory
setting where every situation was controlled. They were searching for whether or not the
participants would cheat and manipulated the variables in a way that allowed for participants to
cheat by having the experimenter leave the classroom as well as the confederate.
Results:
After the experiment was conducted and the results analyzed the study found that 57% of the
participants showed cheating on one or more of the 5 questions that could not be solved. When is
comes to differences in gender, men were shown to have cheated more then women. But, within the
number of participants who cheated the number of questions they cheated on did differ among
gender. For contingencies of self worth

Essay on There Is a Fine Line Between Reality and Illusion
There is a fine line between reality and illusion
How can we distinguish between reality and illusion? Is reality an illusion, or is an illusion
simply reality? Albert Einstein once stated that reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very
persistent one . The statement suggests that what we interpret to be real may well be an illusion
and this is evidenced mainly through dreams and aspirations. For example if someone has
dreamt of one day being a doctor their reality, which is described as the state of things that
actually exist, shifts or changes in order for that idea to become real. Reality is tangible while
illusion is a faculty or activity of imagination. What may be reality for one person may be an

Blanche DuBois from A Streetcar Named Desirehas a similar reaction to her reality. Her reality is
that she has lost the love of her life to suicide, no longer remains a teacher and does not own any
assets as she has lost the property known as Belle Reve. In order to endure her life Blanche
rejects her reality and manipulates it with lies, makeup and lighting in order to hide from the
truth. I don t want realism I want magic , Blanche desires for a life of pure happiness and
excitement, however her imagination is indistinguishable from her reality and the series of lies and
dimmed lights soon begin to fade as she is met with Stanley Kowalski. Stanley Kowalski, a brutish
and arrogant realist finds it difficult to understand Blanche s reality. Unlike Blanche, Stanley needs
reassurance that what he knows is perfectly real and reliable. In the play the two characters
continuously disagree with each other and eventually Stanley s animalistic behavior threatens
Blanche s safety. Blanche and Stanley are a great example of how one individual s reality is
different to another s, these conflicting ideas and perceptions of life occur often between people
and have been proven to cause disagreement. People around us have great influence of how we

instance the media.

The Theory Of The Drive Theory
Drive Theory The Drive theory was so named by Freud because of its emphasis on libidinal and
aggressive drives, which Freud considers to be the two principal motivating forces of human
behavior, and which barks for attention and expression. A child at birth is in a state of primary
narcissism, and it clamors to have its needs met irrespective of the comforts of others. The
erogenous zones (mouth, anus and genitals) are the avenues through which the energies are
directed, and by stimulating these areas, the child finds pleasure. If energies are not adequately
released, anxiety results, but as the child develops, it learns to regulate such forces for its ultimate
good and that of others. Freud believes that three components of... Show more content on

If human beings functioned solely from the Id s control center, there would be absolute chaos,
since people will do whatever they wish, whenever they wish, and wherever they wish, irrespective
of consequences. The Ego lives in both the conscious and the unconscious mind, and it represent
the I of the individual. The Ego functions like a good citizen, and acts as an intermediary between
the Id, the superego, and the external environment, to procure socially acceptable behavior. The ego
coordinates volition, and its main business is to protect self. It also regulates and suppresses the
inordinate promptings of the Id through reasoning and compromises, and is capable of delaying
gratification for the future. As maturation ensues, the ego expands, while the id shrinks, except in
special cases where the individual is fixated at the infantile level. Conditioned on the examination
that people with strong egos often have weak ids and superegos, Freud concludes that the relative
distribution of energy among these forces affects personality directly. Top of Form Bottom of Form
The superego is the conscience that grows out of parental prohibitions, and it represents the moral
component of the personality. Through the diminution of early narcissism, when the child begins to
acknowledge its limits, the superego imposes itself as a kind of watchdog over the ego, making
sure that the

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Parenting...
A single parent could feel like a mouse racing on a wheel, where she/he is continually running,
trying to maintain a proper household and raise healthy children. This is a statement from Victoria
Thompson. I do believe in this statement because for me single parents, unlike the married couple,
are having a hard time in dividing their time with their work and taking good care of their kids. So,
single parenting faces more disadvantages like the experience of economic hardship, negative
judgment of the community and the psychological effects on rearing children that make the family
and relation cycle really complicated.
Single parenting is about having a child without living with a partner or spouse. In historical events,
the major reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, their children may suffer bullying because of having only one parent. This can affect the
children s way of living. Kids who are bullied can experience negative physical, school, and
mental health issues. The child will not be able to do what he wants because he will be afraid to
socialize with other children. Second, a child with a single parent can compare their selves to the
other children who have married parents. A child may feel envious about not having a father/mother
to guide him/her. According to Paul R. Amato, Children living with single parents are exposed to
more stressful experiences and circumstances than being children living with continuously married
parents. This statement proves that single parents are having a hard time raising their children.
Lastly, the children living with a single parent can have a hard time expressing their feelings.
Children who don t see or feel the act of love between his/her parent can have a hard time
expressing their feelings with other person. Due to unseen acts of love, the child may be confused
on how he/she will show their feelings with other person. So instead of showing it, they are going

Some people are just more prone to nail fungus than others. It also runs in families, if your mother

It doesn t matter how you get it, once you have it, it s a real pain trying to find a cure for nail
fungus. The only way you can get rid of it is to allow the nail to grow out, it will not clear up on

The nail has to grow out, and you treat the nail as a new nail is growing. Once the new nail has

In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5) there are a number
of disorders that are proposed as conditions for further study, including nonsuicidal self injury
(NSSI) disorder (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2013). According to the proposed
diagnostic criteria, an individual must have engaged in self injury behavior (e.g., cutting, burning,
scraping) on the surface of their body, at least five times over the last year, without suicidal intent.
Additionally, the self injury is done with the intent of gaining relief from negative emotions and the
individual experiences excessive thoughts about self injury in the period of time before the act

Additionally, this study emphasized the importance of further study, especially in regards to the
link between NSSI and suicidal ideation. Looking at four population samples, Klonsky, May and
Glenn, further looked at the relation between NSSI and suicide attempts. They found that NSSI
predicted future suicide attempts more than any other risk factor, except for suicidal ideation. This
shows that NSSI is a serious risk factor for suicide and shows an individual s increased capability
for harming oneself, which needs to be taken into consideration when looking at suicide prevention
(Klonsky, May, Glenn, 2013). They also found, amongst the four populations, that amongst
adolescent females, NSSI is significantly more common than with adolescent males, compared to
the college and adult populations, where neither females nor males significantly engaged in NSSI
more than the other (Klonsky et al., 2013). Another study looked at implicit attitudes between
adolescents who engaged in either NSSI or had a suicide attempt (Dickstein et al., 2015). The main
purpose of this study was to see how NSSI and suicide attempts can be understood distinctly and
uncorrelated. They found that adolescents who had NSSI had a stronger association with cutting as
well as with thinking about death, while adolescents who had attempted suicide only had
associations with death (Dickstein et al., 2015). This was important due to the association that
NSSI had with death, even if they had never

attitudes and excuses, she resigned from her executive position and sent an email to the co chairs to

The issue within this conflict is based on the question of who should welcome the audience to the

Multinational Business Corporations Gain More Power
The world is entering a period where corporations are gaining more power in society.
Multinational business corporations will ultimately become more powerful than the government.
Corporations influence decisions made by the government by providing campaign funding and
lobbying. Businesses strive to satisfy their consumers wants and needs far well than the
government strives to satisfy the wants of its population. Financial crisis and recession can begin

Some corporations have larger revenue than the gross domestic product of some countries.
Walmart makes more revenue than Norway s GDP: Norway is the world s 25th largest country
with a GDP at $414.46 billion however still lower than Walmart s revenue which is $421.89
billion (Trivett, 2011). Developing countries work very hard to attract foreign investments because
corporations reward thousands with jobs, benefit shareholders (rise share prices) and increase
global well being. If a corporation falls down, financial crisis and recession can begin. This power
forces the government keep corporations alive and satisfied so they continue to provide jobs for
local residents.
In conclusion, these trends are allowing businesses to play a significantly larger role in people s
daily lives than the government. Corporations continue to grow as they invest in foreign countries
thus increasing their revenue and influencing local societies. Populations are beginning to look at
companies to solve social problems and corporations are doing it at a faster rate than the
government. Lastly, corporations are viewed in a higher regard in the eyes of the public versus the
government. Therefore, corporations will gain more power than the government if these trends

Honor and Glory
The idea of obtaining honor and glory are what Greek characters dedicate their lives to. The Greeks
lived by a heroic code, which shaped their society. Being remembered, as a great warrior, is one of
the highest honors a Greek soldier can obtain. Honor and glory are the cause of the Trojan War,
which takes the lives of many men. Honor and Glory are what define the hero in the epic poem,
The Iliad, written by Homer. Throughout the Iliad, honor and glory is the motivation behind the
characters, there are different ways to obtain honor and glory, and the different views of honor
throughout the epic poem.
The idea of honor and glory are essential to understanding the motivation behind the characters in
the Iliad. Glory was gained by the heroic actions and deeds. The best opportunity to gain honor
was during a battle. A warrior would try and obtain honor during the battle, no matter the cost. The
importance of honor can be seen in Hector s final battle when he says, Let me not then die
ingloriously and without a struggle, but let me first do some great thing that shall be told among
men hereafter. (Homer, Iliad 22.232) Hector has accepted that he will die at the hand of Achilles.
However, he wishes to be remembered as a great warrior of Troy. Hector does not wish to have his
live spared, but rather he wishes to do some honorable deed and die with honor and glory. Glory

Selecting Your First Aquarium
Aquarium fish originate in different parts of the world, so they have different needs and behaviors.
If you find out about the fish you want to keep in your aquarium, you will be much less likely to
have compatibility issues after making purchases.
Generally, its wise to limit the selected species to one or two, and limit fish population to about half
the safe biological load. This approach leaves room for mistakes and limits potential disasters.
Your first aquarium will have a better chance of success if you select the more common and less
expensive varieties of fish and plants. Once you have some experience, you may want to try
something more challenging and expensive.
When selecting your first aquarium, remember that larger tanks are easier to keep than smaller
ones. A smaller volume of water can become polluted much more quickly than a larger one.
Nitrogen Cycle An aquarium is a dynamic environment with many more lifeforms than just fish and
plants. For example, several types of beneficial bacteria in a healthy aquarium neutralize the toxins
that fish and uneaten food produce. These beneficial bacteria make up the nitrogen cycle, so called
because the naturally produced toxins are nitrogen compounds such as ammonia and nitrite. Before
putting fish in your new aquarium, make sure the nitrogen cycle is functioning. ... Show more

Aquarium shops have an unbelievable array of medications and chemical fixes to treat fish
diseases and parasites as well as water parameter abnormalities. Most of the medications will not
work unless water parameters are near ideal, and some can kill the beneficial bacteria that remove
toxins. Formulations that change water chemistry can change things quickly enough to stress the
fish, and these chemical additions work only in the short term. A healthy environment will allow
the fish to get well; water quality issues should be solved before medications are

Causes of Global Warming
Many businesses, industrial factories, and vehicles produce massive amounts of natural gases that
affect the world in many ways. These gas particles that move rapidly and constantly collide with the
atmosphere. This causes the air on Earth to contain higher kinetic energy due to the fact that more
gas particles from the natural gases are colliding with the air particles. The higher kinetic energy
results in higher temperature and heating of Earths surface. The heating of the Earth s surface
causes many of the world problems that we have today. As more and more factories and industries
produce gases that pollute the world, they also increase the effects of global warming. Gasparticles
from these natural gases move rapidly throughout the atmosphere. Since these gases are still near
the surface of the Earth, these gas particles collide much more and become more rapid creating
more kinetic energy. If there is more kinetic energy in these gas particles, there is an increase in
temperature. Around the world there are so many products and resources that require the release of
gases. These gases, once released, increase the temperature in the atmosphere to be able to melt the
ice at the north and south poles. The gas particles are able to spread out throughout the Earth s
atmosphere to trap the heat which increases the temperature of the Earth s surface allowing the ice
to melt.
Hurricanes, storms, and droughts are caused by numerous factors. Droughts are caused by the

Computer Technology During The Cold War
Imagine if computer technology was vastly different than it is today. There were many different
computer technologies founded during the Cold War from 1947 to 1991. The Cold War was a
state of tension after World War II. The tensions during the Cold War allowed for the occurrence of
many different events. These tensions required new technological inventions leading to the rise of
computertechnology. The Cold War led to the creation of the ARPAnet, SAGE, and the Space Race.

Industrial Revolution
Was the Industrial Revolution a Blessing or a Curse?
The Industrial Revolution was a period of technological improvement that took place in Britain
from about 1750 into the 1900 s. To many, the Industrial Revolution was the gateway into modern
day factories and machinery. The Industrial Revolution was spurred by the competition of Britain
against India or China. India and China were both very productive in the production of goods,
meaning the people of Britain had to buy the cheap products imported from India and China. British
businessmen developed new technology so they could manufacture their own cotton textiles, the
main product imported into Britain. Although some historians believe that the Industrial revolution

Overseers took most of the money earned and kept it for themselves. Any worker who dared go
on strike or stand up for thei pay was beaten and tortured. This piece of evidence shows that since
the majority of people were part of the working class, they were abused and were arguably better
off working hard and receiving most of the fruits of their labor on farms instead of doubling their
repetitive work for half of the payoff. Adolf Levenstein, a coal miner living during the Industrial
Revolution Reflected in a letter, later collected into the book, From the Depths: Workers Letters,
published in 1905, states how, The work is becoming increasingly mechanical. No more
incentive, no more haste, we muddle along wearily, we are worn out and mindless. My forehead
burns like fire.... But in my head it rages and paralyzes me beyond control or without my being
able to think. When it becomes unbearable I stop my slow, energyless working....And that is not
all; the spirit too, the conscience of the individual, degenerates. And one drudge, grown vacuous
through his work, is put beside another one, and another one and finally this modern circle has
closed in on the entire working force (Levenstein). The work in the mines was tiring and
repetitive. Since machines have taken more of the desirable jobs and workers have been laid off,
the laborers who are still employed had to work tedious jobs. This letter provides a view into the

Theme Of To My People
Assata Shakur s To My People was written on July 4 , 1973 on her blog as a message to her
community of supporters. . Assata Shakur referred to her real name, Joanne Deborah Bryon, as her
slave name and sought out liberation from her ancestor s past of slavery.. She joined the Black
Panther Party and Black Liberation Armyto bring power to her oppressed brothers and sisters, but
was later targeted by the FBI and U.S Government. On May 2 ,1973 Shakur and her BLA
partners were ambushed by state police on the New Jersey turnpike. She was accused of killing a
state trooper, but her previous injury in her arm made it impossible to do so. In To My People,
Assata Shakur utilizes logos, repetition of words, and diction of anger to express her
discontentment on the treatment of her fellow black peopleas well as to motivate them to fight for
their freedom.
To begin, Shakur exposes the heinous acts that were committed by America through appealing to
logos. She discloses, They call us thieves and bandits. They say we steal. But it was not we who
stole millions of Black people from the continent of Africa. The use of parallelism strengthens her
argument of black people being forced into slavery. No one can deny the fact that black people
were dragged to onto boats and dropped off in America. White peoplekidnapped them from their
home continent and erased their traditions and cultures. Shakur later adds, They call us murderers,

Analysis Of No Pda !
Emotions No PDA! I will continue to hear through out my day when I went from class to class at
the midst of passing period during high school and middle school. I never knew what teachers
meant by saying that until they would start to get on my case about showing some affection to the
girlfriend I had at that time. That was when I learned that PDA abbreviates Public Display of
Affection and one of the first times I learned an American display rule. At the same time, I believe
some manners may contribute to the display rules. Then, the topic of it is unmanly for a man to
show their emotions. The other discussion about holding in anger opposed to expressing it. I
believe there are limitations to how menshow their emotions, but I do believe that men should be
able to show their emotions. Also, anyone should be able express his or her emotions instead of
holding it and letting it all come out all at once. First, Some of the American display rules are
manners. As an example, when I was younger I was taught it is unacceptable to belch and not say
excuse me at the table with even if the situation is accidental. My motherwould poke arm or pinch
my arm as punishment until I would say those majestic words to make my arm stop hurting. I
completely understand why burping at without saying excuse me is unacceptable now. No one
wants to hear anyone else let out gas in any way. It may have a disgusting same that follows it, and
is so unexpected that the belch may offend someone.

Washington Irving s The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
Washington Irving was one of his country s first professional writers, and one of the first
American writers to gain an international reputation. A major part of Washington Irving s legacy
was his ability to draw on European folk tales he heard throughout his trips to Europe to create a
fabricated history of his home state in some of his most famous literary pieces such as The Legend
of Sleepy Hollow. Author s Background and Historical Context Washington Irving, named in honor
of George Washington, was born on April 3, 1783 in Manhattan, New York. Irving grew up in a

American dream of rustic plethora and simple fulfillment; the uses of imagination. The tone of The
Legend of Sleepy Hollow is gently mocking. Irving uses symbols, allusions and irony to develop
his themes. Ichabod Crane, the schoolmaster in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, has no special

Mindfulness As A Treatment For Depression
Psychology is one of the youngest lines of science and there is still a lot to be learnt about it.
Before the use of anti depressants, one of the first treatments used by psychologists was
psychoanalysis which was founded by Sigmund Freud in 1852. Then later treatments such as
electroconvulsive therapy formally known as electro shock therapy were used. Currently the most
common treatment for depression is medication such as antidepressants as they are proven to be
extremely effective in treating the symptoms of this mental illness. However even though there
are so many treatments for mental illnesses such as depression the biggest issue we face with
depression is its habit of being a reoccurring problem. The purpose of this essay is to discuss
mindfulness as a treatment for depression. In the essay not only its effectiveness towards the
treatment and prevention of depression but also how it treats and prevents depression is discussed.
This was until psychologists found a more effective way to not only treat but prevent the symptoms
of depression using mindfulness as a therapy. Although, mindfulness is not a very well known
treatment it has been found to be very effective of turning the lives around of sufferers of mental
illness.
Mindfulness, a seemingly effective and relatively new approach to assist in treatment or prevention
of some mental health disorders; one being depression. Depression affects 121 million people

Jesus Christ As The Center Of Discipleship
When someone think about Jesus Christ being the center of discipleship there are two things that
comes to mind; change and commitment within the disciple. One day Jesus Christ was walking
by the sea of Galilee when He saw Simon and Andrew fishing; he said to them, Follow me and I
will make you fishers of men Matthew 4:19 . The next verse show them immediately dropping
their nets and followed JesusChrist. The actions of Simon and Andrew is described best by
Putman, Harrington, and Coleman in the text book Disciple Shift. The text breaks Matthew 4:19
into three key elements; which are Following Christ, is being changed by Christ, and is committed

Obedience is defined as defined by the American Heritage College thesaurus, The quality, state,

Ever Since People Started Walking The Earth, They Used
Ever since people started walking the earth, they used different items found in nature known as
symbols to represent various meanings. Over time people passed down these symbols to the next
generation; they either get altered because of the progression of time, or new ones form as a result
of this progression. Today objects have different meaning to different people because of the changes
made throughout history. In his novel, The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown reveals to his audience that
objects such as art, literature, people, and sciences could be viewed in multiple perspectives. In
The Da Vinci Code, art is viewed differently by careful examination of details revealing the

Not only are the visual arts important, the use of film moreover elevates the idea of objects seen
in different points of view. Popular Disney movies for example appeal to the young generations,
but there is more background information than children see on television. Snow White alludes
to the Bible story of Adam and Eve; the Little Mermaid used symbols from Isis, Eve, Pisces, and
Mary Magdalene (Brown 282 283). Films and artwork seen from an innocent mind are not
always accredited for their talent of mixing history with fiction. While the fine arts are
significant to proving the point of objects seen in different perspectives, literature also impacts
this idea. During the course of the novel, Brown use different works of literature to demonstrate
the fact that the world has to be viewed in different angles. An example of how Brown uses
literature is Shakespeare s plays. Shakespeare is well known for his plays such as A Midsummer
Night s Dream, The Merchant of Venice, and Romeo and Juliet, but he also known for his use of
the meter, iambic pentameter. For centuries, iambic pentameter had been a preferred poetic meter
of outspoken literati across the globe, from the ancient Greek writer Archilochus to Shakespeare,

that many of the day believed had mystical properties. (Shakespeare in The Da Vinci Code.

Explosive Black Powder
Most people do not know that we have tunnels underground, or that tunnels inside of rocks for us
to travel through. We use explosives to blast holes into solid areas we need to go through.
Explosives explode because they are made of materials that burn or break down very quickly,
producing a lot of heat and gas. (Wood, 2014). Usually explosives are made with a material called
a detonator, with another layer over it. A detonator is simply used for exploding a device. The
detonator makes a quick chemical reaction in the material that explodes. A chemical reaction is an
action that changes the energy and structure in the content of chemicals. Without a chemical

The next day left the hotel and drove about 15 miles to St. Andrews and The Royal and Ancient

stayed just outside of St. Andrews could at best be described as so so. It was sort of like an

After breakfast, we headed out to St. Andrews and the Royal and Ancient Club the Mecca of golf.
When we arrived at the clubhouse, we found out they were having a board meeting that day and
we would not be able to play on the Old course, but we could go to the New course and not have

noticeable differences are the height of the rough and the depth of the sand bunkers. The rough is

Examples Of Figurative Language In Night By Elie Wiesel
Figurative language can be used to develop different themes within writing. Elie Wiesel uses
figurative language to show his theme of hopelessness in his memoir, Night. For instance, he
writes, They passed me by, one after the other, my teachers, my friends. ... Some of whom I had
once feared, some of whom I had found ridiculous, (Wiesel 17). This repetition definitely shows
the feeling of hopelessness that he must have had during this time. Reading this, I feel bleak.
Bleakness being very close to helplessness. The repetition puts this feeling on you, and this makes
it a very effective piece of figurative language. Reading further along I see another literary device.
They passed me by, like beaten dogs, (Wiesel 17). This simile is an even

The Negative Effects Of Social Media On Body Image
Approximately 80% of U.S. women don t like how they look. The number of women who feel
confident in their body is dwindling quickly and is being fueled by edited pictures they are
comparing themselves to on social media. In the article How Social Media Is a Toxic Mirror by
Rachel Simmons in Time magazine she tells of the risk for everyone to feel selfconscious about
their bodies. However, those most at risk are teenage girls who spend a significant amount of
time on any form of social media. In response to the article, I agree with the information about
body confidence and its negative effects on body image of teenage girls. I also discuss how logos
and pathos strengthen the article and what would make it a stronger and more credible source for
information on teen body image.
In the beginning of the article, the author shows a progression of teenage girls comparing their
bodies to those they see in movies and magazines for the previous generation to social media for
millennials. The ever evolving social media is constantly allowing for the opportunities to
compare themselves to unrealistic versions of the human figure. A world where there are
hundreds of apps that can airbrush everything from waist lines to teeth, teenage girls are having a
harder and harder time separating the ways their body should look and the way media thinks they
should look. The article expresses concern for the rate of which sources of comparisons for teenage
girls bodies are multiplying.

The True Metamorphosis
The True Metamorphosis The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka offers much to be critiqued,
including the reason why Gregor Samsa was transformed into a hideous beetle. The truth is
Gregor had put himself into a position of demise long ago. Over the years, he had worked himself
into both physical and mental exhaustion. Gregor was the sole provider, and eventually his family
grew less appreciative of him. His relationship with his family had gone south. They were no
longer as close, and it were as if he had become isolated. In Education for Tragedy, Walter H. Sokel
elaborates on that point. According to Sokel, the change from human to insect occurred due to the
alienation he faced from his family. That alienation continued throughout the... Show more content

John Hammond s Jurassic Park
In an advancing world of genetics, a man named John Hammond has successfully used preserved
DNA from the Jurassic period to bring life back to the dinosaurs on a secluded Costa Rican island.
Furthermore, he plans to show his creations to the world in a new theme park which he has named
Jurassic Park . Prior to the official opening, Hammond invites his grandchildren and experts Alan
Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm to get a full tour of his scientific masterpiece . After arrival,
they are all amazed by the fact that not only has Hammond revitalized the tallest and smallest of
dinosaurs in the exhibits, but also the fiercest with two Tyrannosaurus Rexes and multiple
Velociraptors. Wonder of Hammond s feat soon turns to horror though as the management of the
park goes awry. Those who survive the initial systems failures must regroup, now finding
themselves trapped on an island full of sophisticated predators. Throughout the book, it becomes
increasingly more evident that mankind was never meant to control these ancient beasts that

One literary criticism states, Hammond believes that science s impressive logic and mechanical
integrity can overcome the organic, often chaotic forces of nature, but human weakness,
vulnerabilities in the technology , and above all the female dinosaurs unanticipated development of

from an article shows the idea that Jurassic Park was created on a highly technological basis and
thought of as unstoppable by Hammond. It also shows reasoning that although it was advanced
with a backing of science, it still failed greatly in the end . This quote further supports the basis of
Michael Crichton writing the book on technological innovation facing a highly counterproductive

country needs great amount of people willing to buy the seller s product. According to the Japan

ABSTRACT
The intention of this paper is to provide an overview of the psychological theories of Jean Piaget
and Lawrence Kohlberg. While Piaget s perspective was psychological, Kholberg s viewpoint was
psychological with emphasis placed on moral development and both theories will be compared and
contrasted in this paper. Furthermore, the implications of these theories for counselling will be
examined.

Humans also have a biological drive to obtain balance or equilibrium between the schemes and the
environment and this is what drives the adaptation. Infants are born with schema operating at birth,
which are called reflexes, which are used to adapt to the environment. These reflexes are soon
replaced with constructed schemata, which are used throughout life as the person adapts to the
environment.
Piaget s first stage is the sensorimotor stage, which lasts from birth to about two years. Intelligence
at this point is based on physical and motor activity without the use of symbols. Hence the child
uses mobility, crawling, and walking to facilitate knowledge. The child s progress is visible through
the modification of reflexes in response to the environment. It is at this stage that the child learns
object permanence, understanding that objects continue to exist even though they cannot be seen.
The end of the stage is manifested in the immature use of symbols and language development that
signals the transition to the second stage (Morris and Maisto, 2008).
The preoperational stage is the second stage and lasts from age two to about age seven. Intelligence
is demonstrated at this stage through the use of symbols, particularly the development of language.
Memory and imagination are developed and children are able to mentally represent objects and

Is Man Inherently Evil
The Evil Within In Thomas Hobbes book Leviathan he writes that man is selfish, poor, and
brutish. He believes that man is inherently evil and their selfishness leads to war and negative
things (SAT). I agree with Hobbes. Man is inherently evil because people spread hate and
commit atrocities. One reason it is evident that man is inherently evil is because people spread
hatred. Social media is used today on a day to day basis, it is such a huge platform for
communication and entertainment. What it s supposed to be used for though, may not be how
people are using it. People take advantage of the fact that you can be anonymous on social media
and say hurtful things to people. They may make fun of someone s appearance, say racist things, or

For example the recent Gay Club Pulse shooting in Orlando. In the article Orlando Shooting: 49
Killed; shooter pledged ISIS Allegiance , they describe it as a definitive Act of hate . The
terrorist attack claimed 49 lives of the LGBT community and injured many more. The Pulse
shooting was the biggest Massacre in United States history. This shows how evil man can be
because they commit mass murders without a specific reason or outcome simply because man
feels hate. If man was born good, then why would they commit mass murders? It clearly shows
man is evil because man killed innocent people and a good person would never take someone s
life. Also man destroys the world they live in. In the article Top 10 Environmental Issues Caused
By Humanity The Worst it states that deforestation, industrial mining, and untreated sewage are
just some of the issues man has created for this earth. Take industrial mining, mining for gold is
for man s benefit. They do so much destruction to the surface of the earth just to find a couple
ounces of gold! This is an atrocity! So much surface area is destroyed and mercury is released
into the air harming the planet, only for the benefit and selfishness of humanity. Brutalizing and
destroying so much land for only a couple ounces of gold shows the selfishness of man. This
proves man is evil because destroying the earth is a big atrocity for the earth and humankind. It
affects every living thing on this planet and it is an evil act against humanity because it harms the

Core Competencies Of Virgin Atlantic
In July 2017, news headlines hit the airwaves and the internet regarding Sir Richard Branson giving
up control of the 33 years old airline, Virgin Atlantic (Bkaskara, 2017). Apparently, the air carrier
industry has experienced increased competitiveness. Low cost rivals are putting pressure on
traditional transatlantic carriers, which has made Virgin Atlantic, once a trailblazing carrier, to
struggle. In 2012, Delta Air Linescame to the rescue of the carrier in a joint venture, taking up 49
percent of the company (Stothard, 2017). Even so, in the July 2017 alliance, Branson, according to
Stothard (2017) gave up his control as a part of a wide ranging disturbance of the airlinecarrier
industry that will see Delta Air Lines, Air France KLM, and China Eastern intensify their alliances.
The aim of the airline is to embrace the human spirit and let it fly (Virgin Atlantic, 2016). Its main
focus has been on services such as safety and security, for its 5.4 million customers flown in 2016
(Virgin Atlantic, 2016). To enhance its efficiency, Virgin Atlantic has implemented various strategic
management practices to achieve competitive advantage and growth.
Virgin Atlantic Analysis
Core Competency Virgin Atlantic has various strengths and opportunities, as well as weaknesses
and threats within the airline carrier industry. Virgin Atlantic has a strong brand reputation. It has

Why Is The Mutiny Possible On The Amistad
The mutiny was possible aboard the Amistad because it wasn t built to hall slaves. If
they were on the real slave boat it would never have happened. Other reasons are their weren t
enough sailers to do the sailing and to watch the slaves the few men they had did all of that.
The boat was not built very well either. The only reason they were freed was one screw was
loss and the man wiggled it out on the long journey. He then used it to pick his lock and the
others. This was all reasons why the mutiny was possible on the Amistad.
Many other Africans participated in enslavement of their own people. Lots of them will

But the do not whip them like the whites did. But some did sell them to the whites for
many things encoding food money for shelter clothing etc. these are May reasons that they
may sell them or keep the as slaves.
Many people for many reasons want the Amistad slaves. They all wanted them because
if the quart said it was theirs then they would get the slaves with no work or pay needed. Their
were two soldiers that claimed they had bought them. But then their were the two men that s
were actually on the ship with them and said the bought them in Cuba where they were from.
Part of that is true they bought them from Cuba but the slaves were brought their from Africa.
Which is illegal because Britain owns Africa and said its illegal to get slaves from Africa. So
these are the many people that tried getting the slaves.
President Van Buren effected the case a lot. This was because that he made them redo
the trial over again. Evan though the slaves had won. He did this because he was told their
would be a civil war if the slaves won. So he got the judge to leave and retire. He then had a

Who Is Vincent Donovan
Vincent Donovan was an out of the box thinker when he traveled to the Masai people in hopes to
spread the gospel in hopes that these people would become Christian. In this paper it will address
hindrance that Donovan faced, his views of Christology and soteriology in relation to the Christian
faith perspective, and my own views on how well I believe that Donovan portrayed Christianity.
One of the biggest hindrances for Donovan while dealing with the Masia was the culture
difference in how situations were handled. As stated by Donovan (1995) with these Africans the
purpose of words is not to establish logical truth, but to set up social relationships with others. (p.

He also ran the fear that if a majority of the community rejects Christianity then he would lose the
fence sitters to peer pressure to not believe in Christianity. As Donovan (1995) states A
community...will act as a unit, accepting you or rejecting you together... it is not possible or
desirable to convert the Masai as individuals, but it is possible to evangelize them as groups.
A second hindrance for Donovan was getting the Masia people to listen to his preaching of
Christianity without receiving anything for it. The Masia people were very accustomed to
missionaries bringing things in order to bribe the people to accept Christianity. He was aware of
this set back from the beginning and how this shadows the true story of Jesus and what Christianity
is about at the core. Donovan made it clear at this first meeting with the people of his true intentions
while preaching.
Along the same lines of not listening to Donovan, making sure that the Masai had a mind free of
preconceptions... there is no other way to deal with the subject that is so strange to us. (Donovan,
1995). This was hard to do because of the past history of the Catholic church coming to the Masai
people. Donovan had to fight the expectations they held of his visit and reset their minds to take in
the knowledge and information that Donovan wanted to teach.
The illiteracy of the Masai people deemed to also be a very big hindrance to Donovan. He had to

The epidemiology triangle recognizes three main factors: the agent, environment, and the host. It
provides one of the fundamental conceptions of disease causality, and explanation of the etiology of

familial tendency, impaired glucose metabolism, and physical inactivity (Murad, Abdulmageed,

to the prevention of diabetes, and avoiding the consequences that will arise if T2DM in not

environment is the domain in which the disease causing agent may originate which could be

Washington and the Culper Spy Ring
Espionage, the use of spying to obtain secret information regarding the intentions and capabilities of
other persons, groups, organizations, or states is largely seen as a modern twentieth century
phenomenon (Burds, 2012). In reality, it is one of the oldest political and military acts, appearing in
historical and literary accounts since the beginning of recorded history. A vital tool of statecraft,
espionageshapes foreign policy and changes how wars proceed. Unbeknownst to many Americans,
subterfuge and secrecy would play an important role in the Revolutionary War. George Washington,
commander of the Continental Army, was well aware that he needed reliable intelligence to triumph
over British forces which outmatched and often outnumbered his own. To achieve this, Washington
would establish numerous spy networks over the course of the war, the most successful being the
Culper Spy Ring.
In direct contrast to the story of Washington and the Cherry Tree, the first President of the United
States had once served as a spy himself when he fought in the French and Indian War. At the age of
twenty one, he volunteered to engage with French soldiers and learn whatever he could about their
intentions and fortifications through leading conversations (Kilmeade and Yaeger, 2013). The
experience he gained on that mission would serve him well in his career as a revolutionary.
Moreover, having been acquainted with British colonial officials, generals and colonels in his
formative years, he

Australian Kooala s Natural Habitats
As an Australian native marsupial, the koala has been listed as endangered across majority of its
natural habitats. At one point, its population had grown to almost 10 million, but has dropped to
100,000 or less still in the wild because of human activity. Many have taken action to restore the
population of the koala. The koala s background proves that their population decline is effected
mainly on humans. Numerous people refer to the koala as a koala bear, but in reality it is a
marsupial, similar to a wombat. It is found in the Australian states of Queensland, New South
Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. This nocturnal animal lives mostly in eucalyptus forests
where its main food source is the leaves of the tree. Without disturbance, the koala can live up to
15 years. While it may have no natural predators in the wild, it does have exposed skin on its face,
hands, and feet which can make it vulnerable to fires and further threaten the population. Although
other factors like fires harm koalas, humans have the most impact on the koala. The koala may not

  • 2. 80 s Fashion Trends Essay The 1990 s was known to be one of American s favorite decades. It was a time period of grunge music, great TV shows, fun toys and electronics, but out of all the amazing, popular trends in the 90 s, my absolute, all time favorite is the fashion. Back in the 80 s, people were more dressed and dolled up, but the 90 s generation was way more laid back when it came to clothing. There was a wide variety of casual grunge filled with chokers, band tees, flannels, Doc Martens, and so much more. In the 1990 s decade the biggest rock trend was Punk Rock music. The band that was considered the anthem of Grunge was Nirvana, lead singer Kurt Cobain, in 1994 committed suicide. Everyone loved him and was devastated. After his death, people started dressing in honor of the band and their music.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the 80 s dress was more elaborate, the 90 s was more easygoing. The most common thing the public wore was band T s, Doc Martens, baggy jeans, and flannels. There were some other accessories such as Jansport backpacks, Baby G s, and big watches were a big deal; also tattoo chokers, the more you wore, the more popular you were. Overalls were pretty vogue as well, but make sure one strap is undone! As I mentioned earlier, Cobain s death had a huge impact in the 90 s. Apparel was mostly influenced by the music at the time. Grunge clothing was already in the rage before the suicide of Kurt Cobain, but after that, society made sure to carry on this course for remembrance and in honor of the lead singer. Most people would say they miss this time period. The fashion is coming back in style. I mean, hey, I m wearing a flannel at this moment. Personally, I wish I grew up in the 90 s. The clothing style was pretty broad and casual while very grungy. But, it wasn t all dark and hard rock; it was more of a soft grunge. Need a better visual? Think of the old TV shows such as ... • 3. Nursing Leadership Style Analysis Leadership Style and Self Assessment Leadership comes in many different forms, and is a curtail element of a health care organization. This paper will describe leadership styles, management theories, and my style of leadership in reference to the self assessment completed. I will discuss what leadership styles align with my style and what type of work environment and behaviors that will help me be a successful leader. I will also discuss different types of leadership theories. There are many aspects to being a leader and every good organization has good leaders behind it. Leadership is a key element in nursing due to the fact that nurses are often working in teams (Huber, 2014, p.3). Personal Leadership Style There are three different types... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2016). p.33). There are many traits that a leader must have to be able to be successful. Three that come to mind are trustworthy or honest, motivated, and knowledgeable. Ever leader needs to be honest and have the trust of those who are following them. This is essential for any plan or idea to be carried out steadily. Also, open communication cannot happen if one does not trust their leader. Next, a leader must be motivated and have energy. If a leader is not motivated, those who are following them are also not going to be motivated either. Someone has to be able to push others to keep up the hard work to get to where they need to be. Lastly, a leader needs to be knowledgeable. At work, often when faced with something that I do not know the answer to, I go to my charge nurse who is very knowledgeable on almost all situations that may arise. If lacking any vital knowledge, staff under that leader will not have anyone to go to in times of need. This leads to the follower being lost and not knowing what the next step is in their situation. All of these traits are what I like to see in a leader in my work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Let Me Die Let Me Die I Want Eternity In May Miller s Poem Death is not Master the persona explains that death is not the master that will increase desperation, but it is a way to become eternally calm. Many poems on the topic of death explain how it is as powerful of a thing that fears the existence of human beings, but Miller s persona death is used in such way to achieve eternal serenity. She explains death as something that can end all the worlds tears, desires and tension and transform the human memory into a sculpture which is unaware of tensions. Miller s persona believes that by blocking death it will be unfair as it will be a barrier to the everlasting happiness and calmness that lies inside the grave. It is an elaboration of Christian beliefs of how death ends all worldly problems as an eternal life starts after the death. The eternal life of a human or corpse after death is same as that of sculpture which shines at night and remains in one place free of all tensions and problems. As the life after death is full of calmness and happiness, so it must not be blocked and everyone must welcome it to gain the everlasting lasting life. Thus, conveying Miller s idea of how the perspective death is not the master; instead, it is the slave of eternal life of serenity and calmness that lies ahead. So, no one should try to become a barrier by blocking the death. Repetition of you six times and I three times symbolizes the relationship between I and You who love each other ... • 6. Unlocking The Vault Summary In the magazine, I read Unlocking the Vault an article by Carlin Flora. She depicts that people are hiding secrets from others and most of all, themselves. Not all secrets are necessarily bad things such as cheating, but could be information that the person can use as leverage. We keep secrets because of shame and to avoid hurting others. Keeping secrets can be a destructive act towards not only you, but of others as well. I believe this article definitely appeals to all modes of persuasion because it is something that everyone has or will deal with some time in their lives. With ethos, people will look over their values. Some will keep their secret from others because they value the relationship with those group or people. Then you have ... Archy and Frank are from Western Australia and they both enlist to fight in Gallipoli. Archy is an extremely fast runner who meets Frank at an athletics competition. We can see from the beginning that Archy is eager to join the war. After being turned down because he was underage, he goes to Perth, anxious for someone to accept him into the light horsemen. Frank, however, is skeptical about Australians wanting to join the war. He tells Archy that it s not our war to fight . Despite this statement, Frank eventually joins up into the Infantry. Archy and Frank stick together through all of the war training exercises in Egypt and they fight together on the front at Gallipoli. Another element of mate ship is shown in the last part of the film. When the final battle of Gallipoli approaches, Archy persuades Major Barton to assign Frank as his runner because Archy knows that Frank does not have as much commitment as he does on the fighting service. Archy gets Frank a safer position and decided to sacrifice his own life for his best mate. (Gammage) Some more ideals that are glorified in the film are bravery and honor. The experiences at Gallipoli gave Australians a new identity which made them distinguishable from any other nation. At the start of the film we see that almost everyone wants to enlist in the war. Although many Australian men enlist totally naive to the dangers awaiting them, once they are in Gallipoli they fight fearlessly, with the attitude that they are doing it for their country. Anyone who is studying Australian history would do well to watch this film. The film is historically accurate which means that students can use it as a direct source of information and evidence. The fact that the film is portrayed as a dramatized story makes the many aspects of Australia and its participation of World War I much easier to understand than a any text book would. It is a common concept in which can destroy people and their relationships. Throughout William Shakespeare s play Othello, acts of betrayal are committed among characters when Iago betrays Othello, Othello betrays Desdemona, and finally, when Othellobetrays himself. Revenge plays a major role as to why Shakespeare includes betrayal to form conflicts and help advance the tragically dramatic plot. Still, stubborn Othello considered her as a whore and a liar [who has] gone to burning hell (85). Shakespeare includes this betrayal because it precisely displays an example where passion can be broken through the influence of strongly effective characters like honest Iago (83). Is reality an illusion, or is an illusion simply reality? Albert Einstein once stated that reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one . The statement suggests that what we interpret to be real may well be an illusion and this is evidenced mainly through dreams and aspirations. For example if someone has dreamt of one day being a doctor their reality, which is described as the state of things that actually exist, shifts or changes in order for that idea to become real. The Theory Of The Drive Theory Drive Theory The Drive theory was so named by Freud because of its emphasis on libidinal and aggressive drives, which Freud considers to be the two principal motivating forces of human behavior, and which barks for attention and expression. A child at birth is in a state of primary narcissism, and it clamors to have its needs met irrespective of the comforts of others. The erogenous zones (mouth, anus and genitals) are the avenues through which the energies are directed, and by stimulating these areas, the child finds pleasure. If energies are not adequately released, anxiety results, but as the child develops, it learns to regulate such forces for its ultimate good and that of others. If human beings functioned solely from the Id s control center, there would be absolute chaos, since people will do whatever they wish, whenever they wish, and wherever they wish, irrespective of consequences. The Ego lives in both the conscious and the unconscious mind, and it represent the I of the individual. The Ego functions like a good citizen, and acts as an intermediary between the Id, the superego, and the external environment, to procure socially acceptable behavior. The ego coordinates volition, and its main business is to protect self. It also regulates and suppresses the inordinate promptings of the Id through reasoning and compromises, and is capable of delaying gratification for the future. As maturation ensues, the ego expands, while the id shrinks, except in special cases where the individual is fixated at the infantile level. Conditioned on the examination that people with strong egos often have weak ids and superegos, Freud concludes that the relative distribution of energy among these forces affects personality directly. Top of Form Bottom of Form The superego is the conscience that grows out of parental prohibitions, and it represents the moral component of the personality. Through the diminution of early narcissism, when the child begins to acknowledge its limits, the superego imposes itself as a kind of watchdog over the ego, making sure that the ... A single parent could feel like a mouse racing on a wheel, where she/he is continually running, trying to maintain a proper household and raise healthy children. This is a statement from Victoria Thompson. I do believe in this statement because for me single parents, unlike the married couple, are having a hard time in dividing their time with their work and taking good care of their kids. They found that NSSI predicted future suicide attempts more than any other risk factor, except for suicidal ideation. This shows that NSSI is a serious risk factor for suicide and shows an individual s increased capability for harming oneself, which needs to be taken into consideration when looking at suicide prevention (Klonsky, May, Glenn, 2013). They also found, amongst the four populations, that amongst adolescent females, NSSI is significantly more common than with adolescent males, compared to the college and adult populations, where neither females nor males significantly engaged in NSSI more than the other (Klonsky et al., 2013). Another study looked at implicit attitudes between adolescents who engaged in either NSSI or had a suicide attempt (Dickstein et al., 2015). • 23. Causes of Global Warming Many businesses, industrial factories, and vehicles produce massive amounts of natural gases that affect the world in many ways. These gas particles that move rapidly and constantly collide with the atmosphere. This causes the air on Earth to contain higher kinetic energy due to the fact that more gas particles from the natural gases are colliding with the air particles. The higher kinetic energy results in higher temperature and heating of Earths surface. The heating of the Earth s surface causes many of the world problems that we have today. As more and more factories and industries produce gases that pollute the world, they also increase the effects of global warming. Gasparticles from these natural gases move rapidly throughout the atmosphere. Since these gases are still near the surface of the Earth, these gas particles collide much more and become more rapid creating more kinetic energy. If there is more kinetic energy in these gas particles, there is an increase in temperature. Around the world there are so many products and resources that require the release of gases. These gases, once released, increase the temperature in the atmosphere to be able to melt the ice at the north and south poles. Ichabod Crane, the schoolmaster in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, has no special practical abilities but, greedy for materialistic comfort, he falls for the robust, average, down to earth daughter of a farmer, not someone who would suit him. Crane is supposed to be the scholarly light of the village, instructing others, but he is incapable of handling his own life successfully. • 32. Mindfulness As A Treatment For Depression Psychology is one of the youngest lines of science and there is still a lot to be learnt about it. Before the use of anti depressants, one of the first treatments used by psychologists was psychoanalysis which was founded by Sigmund Freud in 1852. Then later treatments such as electroconvulsive therapy formally known as electro shock therapy were used. Currently the most common treatment for depression is medication such as antidepressants as they are proven to be extremely effective in treating the symptoms of this mental illness. However even though there are so many treatments for mental illnesses such as depression the biggest issue we face with depression is its habit of being a reoccurring problem. The purpose of this essay is to discuss mindfulness as a treatment for depression. In the essay not only its effectiveness towards the treatment and prevention of depression but also how it treats and prevents depression is discussed. This was until psychologists found a more effective way to not only treat but prevent the symptoms of depression using mindfulness as a therapy. Although, mindfulness is not a very well known treatment it has been found to be very effective of turning the lives around of sufferers of mental illness. Over time people passed down these symbols to the next generation; they either get altered because of the progression of time, or new ones form as a result of this progression. Today objects have different meaning to different people because of the changes made throughout history. In his novel, The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown reveals to his audience that objects such as art, literature, people, and sciences could be viewed in multiple perspectives. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only are the visual arts important, the use of film moreover elevates the idea of objects seen in different points of view. Popular Disney movies for example appeal to the young generations, but there is more background information than children see on television. Snow White alludes to the Bible story of Adam and Eve; the Little Mermaid used symbols from Isis, Eve, Pisces, and Mary Magdalene (Brown 282 283). Films and artwork seen from an innocent mind are not always accredited for their talent of mixing history with fiction. While the fine arts are significant to proving the point of objects seen in different perspectives, literature also impacts this idea. During the course of the novel, Brown use different works of literature to demonstrate the fact that the world has to be viewed in different angles. An example of how Brown uses literature is Shakespeare s plays. It was sort of like an older motel in the USA, but it was clean and reasonably comfortable and the dinner that night and breakfast the next morning were good. Well, I should preface the latter comment and say I tried the Scottish traditional breakfast of haggis , and I could not swallow the first bite. In response to the article, I agree with the information about body confidence and its negative effects on body image of teenage girls. In the beginning of the article, the author shows a progression of teenage girls comparing their bodies to those they see in movies and magazines for the previous generation to social media for millennials. The ever evolving social media is constantly allowing for the opportunities to compare themselves to unrealistic versions of the human figure. Infants are born with schema operating at birth, which are called reflexes, which are used to adapt to the environment. These reflexes are soon replaced with constructed schemata, which are used throughout life as the person adapts to the environment. Piaget s first stage is the sensorimotor stage, which lasts from birth to about two years. Intelligence at this point is based on physical and motor activity without the use of symbols. Hence the child uses mobility, crawling, and walking to facilitate knowledge. The child s progress is visible through the modification of reflexes in response to the environment. It is at this stage that the child learns object permanence, understanding that objects continue to exist even though they cannot be seen. The end of the stage is manifested in the immature use of symbols and language development that signals the transition to the second stage (Morris and Maisto, 2008). The preoperational stage is the second stage and lasts from age two to about age seven. This was all reasons why the mutiny was possible on the Amistad. Many other Africans participated in enslavement of their own people. Lots of them will do this for guns. But the do not whip them like the whites did. But some did sell them to the whites for many things encoding food money for shelter clothing etc. these are May reasons that they may sell them or keep the as slaves. Many people for many reasons want the Amistad slaves. They all wanted them because if the quart said it was theirs then they would get the slaves with no work or pay needed. Their were two soldiers that claimed they had bought them. But then their were the two men that s were actually on the ship with them and said the bought them in Cuba where they were from. Part of that is true they bought them from Cuba but the slaves were brought their from Africa. Which is illegal because Britain owns Africa and said its illegal to get slaves from Africa. So these are the many people that tried getting the slaves. President Van Buren effected the case a lot. This was because that he made them redo the trial over again. Evan though the slaves had won. • 56. Who Is Vincent Donovan Vincent Donovan was an out of the box thinker when he traveled to the Masai people in hopes to spread the gospel in hopes that these people would become Christian. In this paper it will address hindrance that Donovan faced, his views of Christology and soteriology in relation to the Christian faith perspective, and my own views on how well I believe that Donovan portrayed Christianity. One of the biggest hindrances for Donovan while dealing with the Masia was the culture difference in how situations were handled. As stated by Donovan (1995) with these Africans the purpose of words is not to establish logical truth, but to set up social relationships with others. (p. 23) Donovan goes on to explain a story where in Masia culture they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also ran the fear that if a majority of the community rejects Christianity then he would lose the fence sitters to peer pressure to not believe in Christianity. As Donovan (1995) states A community...will act as a unit, accepting you or rejecting you together... it is not possible or desirable to convert the Masai as individuals, but it is possible to evangelize them as groups. A second hindrance for Donovan was getting the Masia people to listen to his preaching of Christianity without receiving anything for it. The Masia people were very accustomed to missionaries bringing things in order to bribe the people to accept Christianity. He was aware of this set back from the beginning and how this shadows the true story of Jesus and what Christianity is about at the core. Donovan made it clear at this first meeting with the people of his true intentions while preaching. Along the same lines of not listening to Donovan, making sure that the Masai had a mind free of preconceptions... there is no other way to deal with the subject that is so strange to us. (Donovan, 1995). This was hard to do because of the past history of the Catholic church coming to the Masai people. Donovan had to fight the expectations they held of his visit and reset their minds to take in the knowledge and information that Donovan wanted to teach. The illiteracy of the Masai people deemed to also be a very big hindrance to Donovan. He had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It provides one of the fundamental conceptions of disease causality, and explanation of the etiology of disease processes. In relation to the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus in African American adults, the agent in this situation is the risk factors for diabetes mellitus such as obesity, age, diets, familial tendency, impaired glucose metabolism, and physical inactivity (Murad, Abdulmageed, Ifikhar, Sagga, 2014). • 58. Washington and the Culper Spy Ring Espionage, the use of spying to obtain secret information regarding the intentions and capabilities of other persons, groups, organizations, or states is largely seen as a modern twentieth century phenomenon (Burds, 2012). In reality, it is one of the oldest political and military acts, appearing in historical and literary accounts since the beginning of recorded history. A vital tool of statecraft, espionageshapes foreign policy and changes how wars proceed. Unbeknownst to many Americans, subterfuge and secrecy would play an important role in the Revolutionary War. George Washington, commander of the Continental Army, was well aware that he needed reliable intelligence to triumph over British forces which outmatched and often outnumbered his own. To achieve this, Washington would establish numerous spy networks over the course of the war, the most successful being the Culper Spy Ring. In direct contrast to the story of Washington and the Cherry Tree, the first President of the United States had once served as a spy himself when he fought in the French and Indian War. At the age of twenty one, he volunteered to engage with French soldiers and learn whatever he could about their intentions and fortifications through leading conversations (Kilmeade and Yaeger, 2013). The experience he gained on that mission would serve him well in his career as a revolutionary. Moreover, having been acquainted with British colonial officials, generals and colonels in his formative years, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 59. Australian Kooala s Natural Habitats As an Australian native marsupial, the koala has been listed as endangered across majority of its natural habitats. At one point, its population had grown to almost 10 million, but has dropped to 100,000 or less still in the wild because of human activity. Many have taken action to restore the population of the koala. The koala s background proves that their population decline is effected mainly on humans. Numerous people refer to the koala as a koala bear, but in reality it is a marsupial, similar to a wombat. It is found in the Australian states of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. This nocturnal animal lives mostly in eucalyptus forests where its main food source is the leaves of the tree. Without disturbance, the koala can live up to 15 years. While it may have no natural predators in the wild, it does have exposed skin on its face, hands, and feet which can make it vulnerable to fires and further threaten the population. Although other factors like fires harm koalas, humans have the most impact on the koala. The koala may not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Locals in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia with acreage or grazing property can protect the eucalyptus trees from being cut down. For those who do not live in Australia can still help by donating to koala conservation organizations. Koalas can make a comeback, but not without the help of people. Humans have caused this problem and humans can fix this problem.
