Zopicmo Essay
Recently I identified an area of our medication policy that required some improvement due to the way
that the list of medications were deemed as controlled medications and was such a comprehensive list
that included medications that we do not use at our service along with medications that are deemed
controlled by our own policies but not by government which then became restrictive to what time a
service user could take their medication.
The medication in question is named zopiclone and it is used to treat individuals who are completing
opiate detox to support with sleep. The new policy stated that this should be dispensed at 9pm and that
the client was then required to go to bed which, for someone who was completing an opiate detox is ...

As above and described in 5.3, on the back of the areas that were identified within the new medication
policy and dispensing procedures I arranged a telephone conference with our head of quality
department and some other managers from our other residential services to discuss the concerns that I
had identified after reviewing the medication policy.
After lengthy discussions about the areas of concern and the potential risks that these presented both
to staff and service users from a physical, mental and emotional perspective it was agreed that
zopiclone was no longer to be classed as a controlled medication and that the service user could take
this at a time of their choosing at night providing it was before the night worker finished dispensing
medication which was usually about 111pm and agreed that the service user would need to go to bed
within 15 minutes of taking this medication due to having a short timeframe of about 15 30 minutes
where it is effective. It was also agreed that the service user would also be advised of this information
to ensure that this is supportive to them through a physically difficult period whilst completing a
detox.
In regards to the medication paperwork for PRN medication it was agreed that we would use our old
medication dispensing form for PRN (when required) medications as this allowed staff to record the
date, time and reason as to why the

History of film paper:
Topic:
Orson welles
Question:
How do the formalistic and ideological patterns found in Orson Welles s movies; Citizen Kane, Touch
of Evil, and Othello, make him a great auteur?
Outline:
1. Orson Welles (Biography and 3 films)
2. Formalistic patterns:
➢ Mise en Scene in each film
➢ Editing in each film
3. Ideological patterns (in each film)
4. Orson Welles as an Auteur
1. Orson Welles:
Biography:
Orson Welles was born on the 6th of May in 1915 and died in 1985, on the 10th of October. He used
to play magic, paint, and play the piano as a child, a later on he found himself directing, producing,
writing and acting. Orson Welles performed in Romeo and Juliet, and started a radio career at the
same time in 1934.
He created the Mercury theatre, which was a success back then, but ended it due to financial problems
and settled down on filmmaking. After these many activities, he filmed the famous Citizen Kane in
1939 but released in 1941. Then the movie s audience rated it as one of best films ever made.
Orson s defense about his movies was that they were specially affected by his life experiences that got
him to a point of self destruction. Many of his next films weren t that successful but in spite of that,
his reputation as a filmmaker has highly climbed ever since.
3 Films:

Theme Of Women In The Bluest Eye
In the end, the men are afraid of death, that it was they are most fearful of. By choosing death, not
only is she finally making a choice in her life, but she is finally gaining power over the kings, princes
and rulers which she always wished to, because she is doing what they fear most.
Women have little to no choice in their lives, society and systems within it, make decisions for most
women, like Firdaus. By taking away a woman s ability to choose, it is oppressing her. If you have a
voice, you have power, which is why there is a power struggle of this proportion among women,
because their voice is stolen from them.
The Bluest Eye. To complicate Firdaus story, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison tells the story of
another girl s life. Pecola was born and raised a poor, powerless, Black girl. Her power struggle is
different, it is more internalized. Pecola grew up in an abusive household, where she witnessed her
father s power over her mother. When she was still just a child, her father raped her. In this way he
was able to gain power over Pecola as well. She learned from a young age that Black meant ugly,
which in turn meant powerless. Whereas white was beautiful and powerful. This can be demonstrated
by Pecola s interest in a cup that had Shirley Temple s face on it, which is highly symbolic within the
text, We knew she was fond of the Shirley Temple cup and took every opportunity to drink milk out of
it just to handle sweet Shirley s face (Morrison 23). Pecola cherished

Ways to Prevent Genocide
GENOCIDE PREVENTION Genocide Prevention The term genocide was developed during the
Holocaust and announced an international crime during the 1948 United Nations Convention that
focused on Prevention and Punishment of genocide as a crime. Genocide is, therefore, defined as
deeds committed with the aim of destroying, in whole or partially, anethnical, national, religious or
racial group.Such acts include, killing followers of the group, causing serious physical or mental harm
to followers of the group, intentionallyimposing on the group conditions of living aimed at bringing
about its physical loss, imposing measures envisioned to prevent new births within the group, or
compulsorily transferring children of the society to a different group. The intent to destroy certain
groups is unique to the characterisation of genocide. Closely related categories of international law
crimes touching humanity aredescribed as adverse or calculated attacks against citizens. This timeline
marks the growth of the term genocide and its systematization into international law. Genocide is an
ancient old crime.Genocides in prehistory were often organised not just to eliminate enemy ethnicities,
but to integrate and exploit their representatives. It was children and women who were spared the
killings. They were seen as the group least able to retaliate, and as parents of offspring for the central
group.By contrast, males were often killed. The roots of gender cideagainst men and boys are

America during the nineteenth century saw a rise of the modern middle class. With this came dramatic
changes in family dynamics. It can be seen that most middle class American families remained quite
patriarchal throughout the 1900s, however, it was women not their husbands who actually controlled
the homes and tended for life at home. Due to this, I believe that the advertisement targeted household
women. 2. Why did Singer choose the slogan All the nations Use Singer Sewing Machines ? What
point is the company trying to make. After the 1880s, a rise in immigration could be seen from Eastern
and Southern European countries, as well as Canada and Latin America. By 1910, Eastern and
Southern Europeans made up 70 percent of the immigrants entering the country. It is this mass of
immigrants coming to America, potential customers, that alludes to All the nations Use Singer Sewing

The artists depicts these women as hunched over, with heads mostly bowed over their work, but the
faces that Leslie does depict wear a vacant or tired look. The closest woman to the viewer is the
individual who is being yelled at by her supervisor. She stares vacantly into space, as if this is an
everyday occurrence, while the man in charge shakes his fist at her. One can assume that he is yelling
based upon his expression. His face is pinched as if in outrage, and the addition of a raised fist leads
the viewer to believe that he is yelling out of anger. This visual depiction coupled with the raggedy
appearance of the women s clothes, and the plainness of the room they re in leads me to believe that
this is not a happy place to work. Additionally, the only visible light source for the room is two small
windows that the artist has drawn in the background. This only further adds to the depressing
atmosphere that Leslie has depicted to his

Followers Type Of Follower Analysis
Identify which slide represents the type of follower discussed by Kellerman and why.
Slide 1 represent the participant type of follower. Kelleman states these types of followers care about
the organization and try to make an impact. If they do not agree with the leader, they will try to
challenge them (Kelleman, 2009). The picture illustrates followers, following and then stops (by using
a hand), this makes me believe that they are challenging the leader.
Slide 2 represent the bystanders type of follower. Kelleman talks about how this type of follower is an
observer, not a participate who deliberately decides to stand by and disengage from their leaders
(Kellrman, 2009). She also stats these types of follower will stand by and do nothing even ... Show

Leadership can build a relationship with these types of followers by communicating openly and
providing the goals and outcomes of the new opportunities. Leaders should also listen to their ideas so
they feel engaged. According to the Building and Sustaining Relationships article, leaders need to take
time to listen (Community Tool Box, n.d.).
Diehards followers: According to the Building and Sustaining Relationships article, building and
sustaining relationships are at the heart of organizing communities (Community Tool Box, n.d.);
leaders need to pay special attention to those who demonstrate their strong support says Barbara
Kellerman (Kellerman, 2007).
Participants followers: These types of followers will try to change the direction if they do not agree
with the leader s ideas, etc. (Kelleman, 2009). Leaders should watch over these types of followers and
pay close attention to whether these followers are against them. According to the Building and
Sustaining Relationships article, you can disagree and still build relationships with individuals who
are working against your goals by creating dialogue groups to hear why advertise views the issues the

entrepreneur, a superb sales professional, an excellent executive and a fine person in every way.
Preface This book is for ambitious salespeople who are eager to increase their sales and boost their
incomes immediately. It is written for those who are, or intend to be, in the top 10% of their fields in
selling. Every idea is aimed at the Sales Superstars of today and tomorrow. Salespeople are primarily

This book is designed to give you practical insights that will enable you to make those jumps in
performance, to give you the winning edge. Here is another key idea for success: your weakest
important skill sets the height at which you can use all your other skills, and determines your income.
In other words, if you are poor in a key skill area like prospecting, or closing, that one weakness alone
will determine your sales results and how much you earn. A single deficiency in your ability can hold
you back from succeeding, no matter how good you might be in every other area. Put another way, it
is your strengths that have brought you to where you are today, but it is your weaknesses that are now
holding you back from progressing further and faster. This book is designed to give you specific tools
you can use to overcome any critical weaknesses you may have, first by identifying them, and second,
by giving you practical exercises you can apply immediately to strengthen yourself in that area. This
book deals simultaneously with both the inner game of selling, the mental component, and the outer
game of selling, the methods and techniques of actually making the sale. When you begin to improve
in both areas simultaneously, both your sales and your self confidence will increase at a rapid rate.
Only small differences in attitude and ability separate the top salespeople from the average. When you

Arjuna s Second Discourse Of The Bhagavad
Arjuna is faced with an internal dilemma during the Second Discourse of the Bhagavad Gita, and
although the God Krishna seeks to help guide him towards an understanding of the meaning of his
life, Arjuna is still wary of making the wrong decision. This decision concerns itself with either
fighting in a civil war against family relatives, having to kill those Arjuna cares most about, or
abandoning his dharma as a warrior and jeopardizing fulfilling his duty the greater Self that plays such
a pivotal role in his people s culture and beliefs. While advocating for the battle and fulfilling one s
dharma, Krishna utilizes the point that the Self an overarching force in life is a formless, eternal entity
that cannot die and is more than the mere vessels that encompass the human beings across the
battlefield. It is more important to the greater vitality of one s existence to complete a duty to the Self
rather than live with the temporary benefits of living in what may appear to be a more pleasurable life,
but one with no fulfillment.
Life is plagued with pleasures and wants that hinder the mind ... Show more content on

After all, why would anyone deliberately increase their own suffering for an ambiguous entity that has
unlimited time to develop and advance to the higher good? As is the case in the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna
must learn to understand that the Self would benefit from his involvement in the battle even if it led to
the death of some of his family members due to Arjuna having completed his all important dharma.
For someone who was keen to living with desires, and only looked at having the greatest life one
could muster, it would be difficult to justify the actions that would expand one s influence after they
were gone. But with the Self no one is ever gone because everything is

Essay on Analysis of Chonicles of Ice by Gretel Erhlich
Chronicles of Ice by Gretel Ehrlich
Why did we trade in our ceremonial lives for the workplace? Is this a natural progression or a hiccup
in human civilization that we ll soon renounce (Ehrlich 91)? Gretel Ehrlich asks these deep questions
in her short informative essay Chronicles of Ice (2004). Ehrlich tells of her travels to The World
Heritage glacier Perito Moreno, Argentina. In this short narrative, the author uses pathos and strong
human related metaphors, to relay the direct correlation between glaciers and the well being of Earth.
Ehrlich starts her tale, by giving information that supports her point but also gives insight to her
personal experience. She introduces the physics in paragraph one, Perito Moreno is 257 square ...

Ehrlich says, The retreat and disappearance of glaciers means we re burning libraries and damaging
the planet... (89). The author includes this deep thought burning quote to the reader to explain that
there is a problem with the loss of all this environmental information these ice masses hold. Ehrlich
makes this inference to repulse and further engage the reader into this natural disaster. Then follows
step by step the effects melted glaciers would have upon the Earth. She starts with the Albedo effect,
continues to the loss of ice and snow, and finishes with, our sources of fresh water will disappear (90).
This addresses the effects aspect, but also appeals to audience, due to the fact that humans cannot live
without freshwater. The author uses the human items of an air conditioner and sponge to dramatize the
consequences of contraction glaciers. Ehrlich s use of ethos is strongest in paragraphs eleven and
twelve when she incorporates human cultures that are dependent upon the winter months for survival,
saying, The high mountain peoples of Peru, Chili and Bolivia...Inuit cultures in Alaska, Arctic Canada,
Siberia and Greenland....could disappear (90). This long excerpt proposes the problem of large
extinctions of the cold living populace. She then follows up with the proposal that winter might last
only one day ...(90) Gretel Ehrlich finishes her tale with detailed description of the possible future,

much information as possible to ensure the safety of the client and the ethical obligation as the
clinician. Kattimani, Sarkar, Rajkumar Menon (2015) clearly explained that stressful situations are the
leading causes of compulsive suicidal attempts. Analysis of Theoretical Basis The theoretical basis for
working with someone with dependency and depression can be narrative therapy along with cognitive
behavioral therapy. Narrative therapy is from the theoretical approach that individuals have their own
unique narratives (Phipps Vorster, 2015). The intervention approached should be gentle with caution

responsibility, self sufficiency, and citizen leadership can easily help shape and change the course of
someone s life path with only one simple decision. Expressing the importance of knowing the
difference between right and wrong, and how only individuals determine their future with their own

Personal Finance Lessons Learned
While taking the personal finance course this past spring, I learned many valuable lessons that will
greatly assist me throughout my life. One lesson I learned is the importance of paying yourself first.
To put this into action, I will save money in an emergency fund to have enough money to live
comfortably for 3 to 6 months, in case of emergency. Furthermore, this course has taught me the
importance of budgeting. Using budgeting, I will make a plan for my money, so I can avoid over

financial situation throughout life because I would not have to worry about paying off student loans

delightful experience, a small Adirondack named the Stan Murray shelter, stood as a resting point for
weary hikers. The Adirondack, a three sided shack like structure, blended into the surrounding brown
of the trees and surprised me as I came upon it. I stopped there for a short respite and then continued
my hike.
The next three miles were much as the first two had been, a walk through a colorful enclosed forest.
At the three mile point, a rough, wooden, weatherworn sign stated that the Over Mountain shelter lay
close by, and seeing as dusk had rapidly set upon me, I decided to spend the night there. Down a small
hill through an arch of trees, the Overmountain Shelter squatted in an open field. The trees abruptly
ended on my left and a large hillside presented itself to the sky. The hill, a wind tunnel during a
thunderstorm, seduced me with its lush green grass, but I did not so easily forsake the prospected
security of the shelter. The shelter, an old, weathered, abandoned barn squatted regally in the meadow,
as if ruling over the valley below it. As dusk deepened into night, I carried my sore but happy body
inside where I cooked a wondrous meal of pasta then swiftly passed into unconscious bliss.
As I learned when I awoke during the night to the roaring wind outside, I lay in the coziest place in the
barn,

Green Lettuce Experiment
Question
Do green or reddish purple lettuce leaves photosynthesize at a higher rate under red light?
Hypothesis
Green lettuce leaves will photosynthesize at a faster rate than reddish purple lettuce leaves when
exposed to red light because reddish purple lettuce leaves reflect red light and will thus have fewer
photons to excite light receptors and begin photosynthesis.
Materials:
Baking soda
Diluted soap solution
Plastic syringes without needle
Green lettuce leaves
Reddish purple leaves
Hole punch
4 small beakers
Lamp as a light source
4 Petri dishes
Red food coloring
Methods :
Prepare 600 ml of 0.2% bicarbonate solution.
Pour equal amounts of the bicarbonate solution into the four beakers. Two beakers will contain chads

There should only be chads made from spinach leaves to allow for consistency in light receptor
molecules. We could then use different food coloring in the petri dishes above the chads, with two
beakers per color/ wavelength of light. If the beakers are filled with 20 chads each, this would allow a
more exact representation of the rate of photosynthesis, based off of light absorption of the light
receptors. Then, make measurements every minute for as long as it takes for all of the chads to float.
As a result, I would predict that a graph of average chads floating/minute would look similar to the
light absorption spectrum graph for chlorophyll A, with purple wavelengths of light having the highest
rate of floating chads (and photosynthesis), and green wavelengths of light having the

The International Whaling Regime Essay
The International Whaling Regime
In his article, Whale Mining, Whale Saving, Sidney Holt states, saving the whales is for millions of
people a crucial test of their political ability to halt environmental destruction (Holt 1985). In a world
where environmental issues are often so vast that solving them seems impossible, it is rare to
encounter a regime which successfully addresses these problems. If we judge a regime s effectiveness
by its ability to change the behavior of its members and possibly even encourage others to join, then
the whaling regime was in fact quite effective. The significant decrease in commercial whaling
brought about by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) s 1982 moratorium is proof in itself of
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stipulation proved important in the evolution of the IWC over time because as non whaling
nations began to join in the 1960s and 1970s, they increased the pressure on the IWC to turn its focus
from that of market regulation to a preservationist or conservationist standpoint (Andressen in
Implementation and effectiveness... 1998). But why would nations who did not participate in the
whaling industry want to join the IWC? One reason might be that IWC membership was an easy (and
cheap) way to improve their reputation as green minded without having to make any significant
changes in policy. Furthermore, the decades between the 1960s and 1980s saw an increase in the
number of NGO s taking on the cause of whale conservation which also drove the IWC to re evaluate
its goals and objectives. As a result, the IWC agreed upon a 10 year moratorium on commercial
whaling in1982 and put it into effect in 1986. The moratorium prohibited all commercial whaling, and
granted certain quotas to indigenous peoples who needed the whales for subsistence, and to scientific
research efforts. After the10 year period, it was decided that a Comprehensive Assessment would be
conducted and enough data would be collected in order to reconsider the moratorium.
The moratorium proved largely successful in that many stocks of larger whales such as the Bowhead
whale began

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains a major public health problem worldwide that accounts for
significant morbidity and mortality. About one third of the world s population have serological

Straight Edge Movement
The main topic of this article is punk culture, but specifically a subset of hardcore punk culture called
Straight Edge. The article traces the evolution of the Straight Edge movement from the 1980 s 2000 s.
This author argues that the Straight Edge movement evolved to become a lifestyle and an ideology. In
short, the author argues that as the Straight Edge movement evolved, the original ideology associated
with the movement shifted in the opposite direction due in part to the changing demographic of the
Straight Edge movement. The author s primary sources include interviews and testimonials from
individuals that were part of the movement, usually taken from magazines or books about the Straight
Edge movement. In order to establish what the Straight Edge movement was all about, this author also
looks at the actual Hardline Manifesto from which the Straight Edge movement branched off of, but
she also uses CD s from bands like Minor Threat to track the musical changes that were taking place
in the movement as well. Unlike other articles, this author uses academic books about ... Show more

Even though the movement started out with promoting abstinence and veganism, the ambiguity of the
associated ideology and the changing demographics of the culture have distorted the original values of
the movement. Furthermore, this contribution also reveals the dangers of making societal values a
center of a movement, especially since the dominant demographic of the movement can change what
the values of the movement itself. In order to attract people to a movement, the values of a movement
have to allow for a certain ambiguity, but that ambiguity can be twisted and stretched based on the
demographic and that brings up real life implications, especially when it comes to enacting the

Our research over the past five years into the battles between multinationals and local Chinese
companies reveals that while market dominance by local champions is far from universal, it s
becoming ever more frequent. In industries as different as beer brewing, mobile phone manufacturing
and laundry detergent production, Chinese companies often seeming to appear from nowhere are
forcing multinationals to rethink their strategies and their hopes for explosive growth in the China
market.
1
The message is clear: Multinationals must factor in the existence of robust local competition, while
considering the new opportunities that have opened up as a result of China s WTO membership. To
understand the way competition between multinationals and local champions is evolving and to
pinpoint the keys to success, we traced the evolution of competition in China in 10 industries over the
last 10 years.2 We conducted more than 100 interviews with dozens of leading companies operating in
China, both multinationals and locals, and reviewed thousands of pages of secondary data. The picture
of competition that emerged from our research can best be described not in terms of traditional market
positioning, but as a battle of competencies between multinationals and local players.

In radiation therapy, certain treatment plans require a water equivalent material called a bolus to raise
the maximum dose buildup (Dmax) closer to the surface of the skin. One of the most common

Superflab is a manufactured vinyl gel material that is uniform in thickness, easy to cut, and reusable

The story follows approximately six months of his life where he is faced with personal, professional,

of the three main characters are from a different country, and they were used to represent it.

he does possess one flaw, he is an assassin. He aids in the making of bombs and helps with the actual

town square and all he could think about was the fact that he had to clean the blood off of his shoes

situation, and simply be a good guy , but in reality was extremely involved. Much like the US was not

Eighteen year old, Vietnamese Phuong was terribly naive. This young girl was in a state of peace with

why Pyles death wasn t so devastating for her, and why she was so happy to be able to be the second

The school counselor noticed several irregularities with Richard s behavior, such as the obvious
inattention, distractibility, lack of organization, reoccurring daydreaming, and inability to follow

intrinsic motivation or understanding.
The school counselor described that every year Richard performed exceptionally well on standardized
tests; however, he performed poorly on assignments and achievement tests and had terrible
penmanship. His reading level was proficient, and he was talented in physical education and art. Yet,
Richard was easily distractible, disruptive in class, and highly disorganized. Richard also struggled in

The Use Of Control And Its Effects On People And Affect...
Politicking is the actions of using power and information to move resources towards preferred
outcomes for your fellow colleagues and/or the organization s interests. Politicking is used to
influence people and affect decisions. Locus of control is related to a person s belief on how much
influence they think they have over external events and outcomes. The higher someone s locus of
control is, the more politicking they participate in because they believe that the more engaged,
assertive, and friendly they are to those they interact with, the more control they will have on final
decisions.
The three dimensions that should be considered before engaging in politicking are: Analyzing and
knowing your own strengths and weaknesses; Reading and understanding others verbal and nonverbal
language; and Assessing accurately the organization and its goals. Intentional understanding of these
areas will help you develop a politicking strategy to empower yourself, your coworkers, benefiting the
bottom line while accomplishing important organizational goals.
Having a clearer understanding of what politicking is and how individuals utilize these strengths can
definitely help me understand how to use politicking to my advantage in future business interactions. I

Some people believe that their religion is the only true religion. Although, there are some people who
understand that a religion is true to the person that believes in it. These are the people that are able to

Homeschooling Is Becoming A Fast Growing Educational Trend
Homeschooling is becoming a fast growing educational trend in today s society. The National Center
for Education Statistics estimated that 1.1 million students received their schooling from home in the
United States in 2003. This number represents approximately 2.2% of the entire student body in
America. By contrast, only 15,000 students received home education 20 years ago. (Jr., Ronald
Kreager) Parents have not always had a constitutional right to homeschool their children. It was not
until the middle of the nineteenth century that homeschooling was legal. Even then there was a lot of
consiversiry over the laws homeschoolers and their parents should have to abide by.
In 2014 a dear friend of mine named Sally was faced with the realization that she had been woefully
undereducated. She had been homeschooled since she was little and at the age of 16 still did not have
the educational skills to complete 6th grade basic work. She was far behind and her mother was not
determined or skilled enough to teach her what she needed to know. Sally wanted to get her GED but
was faced with the realization that she could not even do sixth grade work. Is homeschooling really
the best fit for everyone, or is it just the easy way out? Homeschooling can be a great fit for certain
Georgia households; however, it is not for everyone due to the lack of requirements, accountability,
and parent education level.

The Social Differences Between Oral And Oral History
Oral accounts are crucial to understanding historical events which may have not been recorded
through text. The whole process in oral history is important to create the bigger image of the story and
provide the meaning. The act of listening is just as complex as interpreting the story, both aspects give
history a better understanding. The uniqueness of oral history can t compare to written history due to
the compassion and emotions that are evoked while talking. There are social implications of oral
history that come in various forms which effect the process. Although it is a complex process, it
enhances historical practices for many reasons.
The comparison between oral and written history has many discrepancies that impact the
understanding of history in a great way. Oral history has the ability to evoke many emotions due to
being able to see the body language of the speaker. Gestures create emphasis on various words which
may have a significant meaning to the speaker. These gestures would not be seen through text thus it
allows readers to experience the story through emotions as well as facts. The intensity of words also
creates emphasis which is only available through speech. Francis Good uses an analogy to express the
difference between text and oral accounts. Good states manuals and handbooks invariably provide
advice on the issues, problems and strategies involved, but practice and comment show considerable
divergence at times (Good, 362) which alludes to the conclusion that textual accounts can leave out
some information. These aspects contribute to how the audience perceives the information given,
importance will be given to items which can t be expressed through text. Oral history serves a social
purpose in today s society. Oral accounts give the public a better understanding about social, political
and economic issues which may not be written about.
Oral history changes the precedent of how history is interpreted. It enhances the historical practices by
emphasizing important aspects and revealing stories which may not have been heard otherwise. Oral
history and interviews are particularly beneficial for minorities, including women and the illiterate, to
express their stories. In Telling

De Crevecoeur s Letters from an American Farmer suggest that there is no wonder that this country

The Importance Of Diversity In Language Learning
Our understanding of language, as languages educators becomes part of our professional stance and,
as such, influences our curriculum, planning and classroom pedagogies. Teachers who view language
simply as code make acquiring grammar and vocabulary the primary, if not the only, goal of language
learning. Within such a limited approach, students do not begin to engage with language as a
communicative reality but simply as an intellectual exercise or as a work requiring memorising. It is
primarily a conventional symbol system concerned with communication or coorperation between
people (Lyons, 1981) Individual and social (Gee Hayes, 2011) people talk like others and yet all have
their own style (Bakhtin, 1981, 1986). Every language shares the same basic design properties nouns,
verbs, sentences, and clauses (Chomsky, 1965).
Language is not just a set of rules that tells us how to talk with the correct grammar. A cognitive
phenomenon a set of rules in our minds or brains that tells us how to speak grammatically (Clark,
1996) and Cannot be thought of as only a system of formal elements; have to take into account its
functions (Brumfit, 1994)
Variety is the spice of life . Diversity makes life interesting and gives it all its flavour. This phrase

and treachery. So the phrase, Men were deceivers ever, proves to be a very accurate representation of
Much Ado About Nothing. Moreover, characters such as Don John, Borachio and even Don Pedro and
Claudio prove Balthasar s phrase to ring true, through their respective roles and intentional actions in
the play. Don John, who is notably the main antagonist, is a stagnant portrayal of Balthasar s quote.
Not only does he spend his every waking moment stirring trouble, but most importantly he takes
satisfaction in it. He contingently makes it his mission and purpose to reign havoc, and to deceive
characters of another s false wrongdoing. For reference,

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra
On September 30th, I had the pleasure of attending the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at the Fisher
Auditorium. We walked in quietly to the back row of our section because the show had already
started, so it would have been rude to walk up to where our actual seats were. As we took our seats the
orchestra sat up there in the beautiful auditorium dressed in their all black formal attire holding their
various instruments including the woodwinds, strings, brass, and percussions. The orchestra was in the
middle of playing Symphony No. 8 in F major, Opus 93. This symphony included 5 compositions that
were all very similar to each other. In most of the compositions they took the audience on a roller
coaster ride. The rhythm of the compositions would

Joe Biden Research Paper
First on CNN: Biden meets with Warren in Washington Joe Biden was found in an untold meeting
with Elizabeth Warren in Washington. Biden was suspected to be at Delaware for the weekend and
this was weird to find out Biden having a meeting with Warren which is know as the Darling of all
liberals . A liberal is: favoring maximum individual liberty in political and social reform. At this secret
meeting Biden talked about trying to run for president. In this article the position of Joe Biden was
that he is a democratic supporter and he is thinking about running for president he also talked to
Warren to run with him for president. What I thought about Biden running for president with Warren
was skeptical since Biden went to a secret meeting to

Current Trends And New Trends
Trend is a synonym of innovation and change, and by applying these concepts, new opportunism
might arise, as well as new challenges. However, this is expected, especially in the scientific world
and medical field. The scientific world is always evolving; scientists will always follow new trends in
order to improve what already has been stablished. Some of these trends can be helpful because they
might be facilitating and assisting scientists to get a more accurate and better result. Specially, the
need for new trends in the healthcare field are vital to enhance the quality of care provided, some of
the most popular trends in 2017 that are emerging in clinical settings are, for example, the cost of
drugs, Obamacare interruption, Medicaid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, without a doubt The Affordable Care Act or commonly known as Obamacare is
one of the most trending topics that has a great impact on not just the clinical portion of the healthcare
field, but also management. Obama care tries to increase the quality, availability, and affordability of
private and public health insurance to over 44 million uninsured (An Independent Site for ACA
Advice,2017). In other words, Obamacare tries to enable everyone to have the same degree of care
disregardless their income or insurance company. Unfortunately, Obamacare is about to collapse due
to the multiple efforts made by elected President Donald Trump. Trump has questioned the
effectiveness and benefits of Obamacare to the public. Trump states that due to Obama care a lot
insurances company are disappearing due the fact that they are not receiving/making enough. For
instances, Obamacare affects the management and clinical setting by doctors complaining about not
getting payed enough; which makes some doctors bias about the patients they want to see. However,
Obamacare can be most beneficial to low income people that cannot afford healthcare; Obamacare
tries to incorporate and promote equality in the health care field and among insurance companies.
Another trend that has been one of the

Dbq Essay On The Colony Of John Winthrop
When starting a new colony, John Winthrop had a perfect utopia set up in his mind. Everyone would
get along with each other, everyone would be compassionate and helpful to everyone in the
community, and most of all, they would be a society based on relations and not God. Winthrop
realizes the various social classes people fit into, but he hopes that his city upon a hill will unite
everyone and make them all equal, regardless of social status. He hopes that the people who are in the
colony are good people, who will help anyone who needs it, when they need it. Last of all, he hopes
that the colony will keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace in order to become the city upon a
hill that he wants to be. In order to do this, God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Document D follows a small section of Anne Hutchinson s trial where Winthrop himself is,
essentially, arguing with someone about a rumored rule breaking. This goes against his vision of
complete peace with others within the colony. This excerpt shows that the community would accept
everyone, but in the case of Hutchinson, they are pushing her away and trying to kick her out of the
colony because she is supposedly pushing her limits of freedom. This goes to show that even the
person who has the vision of the society will still push people around because they don t follow the
exact rules of freedom that are put into place. The fact that someone is still praying to God, and that
even the person who s vision it was to be a city upon a hill is going against his vision shows that the
colony is still far from achieving Winthrop s vision. The two documents are useful in the sense that
they delve further into a specific part of the society. The poem by Anne Bradstreet is vague because it
doesn t really talk much about the society as a whole, but of her own relation in the society. The
excerpt between Hutchinson and Winthrop shows the court written exchange, and could help prove
that the society isn t the exact vision of the society because Winthrop is clearly challenging
Hutchinson s

Persuasive Essay On Endangered Species
Endangered Species A place without life is hardly even a place at all. The waves would flow over the
oceans rocks, the sun would shine on the green leaves without prevail. The world builds with
pollution, plants expand, and food virtually ends. In an environment, lacking the fundamentals of life,
the existence of humans would experience complications of survival and health. The living cells of
species provide a world of opportunity, health, and life. Over the last one hundred years, the
population of endangered species has drastically risen. With the inadequate decisions regarding living
species, the rate of endangered and threatened species will continue to increase. Through many
different developments, species can be considered endangered or threatened and this condition can
result from a multitude of factors and direct effects to the species. Groups, services, and organizations
work together to protect these species through conservation practices and government assistance.
Species can be sorted into various categories. An endangered species is an animal, plant, or another
organism that is initially threatened and could potentially become extinct. All species are important to
the world and surrounding environment. These organisms provide medicinal properties for society,
help filter air and water, and provide the community with a plentiful supply of resources, including
clothing and food ( Endangered Species ). Any species that crawls, walks or roams the earth can be
pushed towards a level of endangerment. Once a species is considered threatened or endangered in an
ecosystem, groups of scientists and biologists analyze the situation and classify the organism into the
correlating category. Researchers calculate the population size and growth rates, along with popular
trends within the species. After initial observations and research, the endangered species is classified
into one of three groups: nationally critical, nationally endangered, or nationally vulnerable (
Conservation Status of Plants and Animals ). Many organisms cannot be protected due to limited
budgets and the immense amount of work involved with classification. In order to create awareness
and establish protection methods for a particular

  • 2. Zopicmo Essay Recently I identified an area of our medication policy that required some improvement due to the way that the list of medications were deemed as controlled medications and was such a comprehensive list that included medications that we do not use at our service along with medications that are deemed controlled by our own policies but not by government which then became restrictive to what time a service user could take their medication. The medication in question is named zopiclone and it is used to treat individuals who are completing opiate detox to support with sleep. The new policy stated that this should be dispensed at 9pm and that the client was then required to go to bed which, for someone who was completing an opiate detox is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As above and described in 5.3, on the back of the areas that were identified within the new medication policy and dispensing procedures I arranged a telephone conference with our head of quality department and some other managers from our other residential services to discuss the concerns that I had identified after reviewing the medication policy. After lengthy discussions about the areas of concern and the potential risks that these presented both to staff and service users from a physical, mental and emotional perspective it was agreed that zopiclone was no longer to be classed as a controlled medication and that the service user could take this at a time of their choosing at night providing it was before the night worker finished dispensing medication which was usually about 111pm and agreed that the service user would need to go to bed within 15 minutes of taking this medication due to having a short timeframe of about 15 30 minutes where it is effective. It was also agreed that the service user would also be advised of this information to ensure that this is supportive to them through a physically difficult period whilst completing a detox. In regards to the medication paperwork for PRN medication it was agreed that we would use our old medication dispensing form for PRN (when required) medications as this allowed staff to record the date, time and reason as to why the ... Elie Rahbani 201300566 History of film paper: Topic: Orson welles Question: How do the formalistic and ideological patterns found in Orson Welles s movies; Citizen Kane, Touch of Evil, and Othello, make him a great auteur? Outline: 1. Orson Welles (Biography and 3 films) 2. Formalistic patterns: ➢ Mise en Scene in each film ➢ Editing in each film 3. Ideological patterns (in each film) 4. Orson Welles as an Auteur 1. Orson Welles: Biography: Orson Welles was born on the 6th of May in 1915 and died in 1985, on the 10th of October. He used to play magic, paint, and play the piano as a child, a later on he found himself directing, producing, writing and acting. Orson Welles performed in Romeo and Juliet, and started a radio career at the same time in 1934. He created the Mercury theatre, which was a success back then, but ended it due to financial problems and settled down on filmmaking. After these many activities, he filmed the famous Citizen Kane in 1939 but released in 1941. Then the movie s audience rated it as one of best films ever made. Orson s defense about his movies was that they were specially affected by his life experiences that got him to a point of self destruction. Many of his next films weren t that successful but in spite of that, his reputation as a filmmaker has highly climbed ever since.

  • 5. Theme Of Women In The Bluest Eye In the end, the men are afraid of death, that it was they are most fearful of. By choosing death, not only is she finally making a choice in her life, but she is finally gaining power over the kings, princes and rulers which she always wished to, because she is doing what they fear most. Women have little to no choice in their lives, society and systems within it, make decisions for most women, like Firdaus. By taking away a woman s ability to choose, it is oppressing her. If you have a voice, you have power, which is why there is a power struggle of this proportion among women, because their voice is stolen from them. The Bluest Eye. To complicate Firdaus story, The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison tells the story of another girl s life. Pecola was born and raised a poor, powerless, Black girl. Her power struggle is different, it is more internalized. Pecola grew up in an abusive household, where she witnessed her father s power over her mother. When she was still just a child, her father raped her. In this way he was able to gain power over Pecola as well. She learned from a young age that Black meant ugly, which in turn meant powerless. Whereas white was beautiful and powerful. This can be demonstrated by Pecola s interest in a cup that had Shirley Temple s face on it, which is highly symbolic within the text, We knew she was fond of the Shirley Temple cup and took every opportunity to drink milk out of it just to handle sweet Shirley s face (Morrison 23). • 6. Ways to Prevent Genocide GENOCIDE PREVENTION Genocide Prevention The term genocide was developed during the Holocaust and announced an international crime during the 1948 United Nations Convention that focused on Prevention and Punishment of genocide as a crime. Genocide is, therefore, defined as deeds committed with the aim of destroying, in whole or partially, anethnical, national, religious or racial group.Such acts include, killing followers of the group, causing serious physical or mental harm to followers of the group, intentionallyimposing on the group conditions of living aimed at bringing about its physical loss, imposing measures envisioned to prevent new births within the group, or compulsorily transferring children of the society to a different group. The intent to destroy certain groups is unique to the characterisation of genocide. Closely related categories of international law crimes touching humanity aredescribed as adverse or calculated attacks against citizens. This timeline marks the growth of the term genocide and its systematization into international law. Genocide is an ancient old crime.Genocides in prehistory were often organised not just to eliminate enemy ethnicities, but to integrate and exploit their representatives. It was children and women who were spared the killings. They were seen as the group least able to retaliate, and as parents of offspring for the central group.By contrast, males were often killed. It can be seen that most middle class American families remained quite patriarchal throughout the 1900s, however, it was women not their husbands who actually controlled the homes and tended for life at home. Due to this, I believe that the advertisement targeted household women. 2. Why did Singer choose the slogan All the nations Use Singer Sewing Machines ? What point is the company trying to make. After the 1880s, a rise in immigration could be seen from Eastern and Southern European countries, as well as Canada and Latin America. By 1910, Eastern and Southern Europeans made up 70 percent of the immigrants entering the country. Arjuna s Second Discourse Of The Bhagavad Arjuna is faced with an internal dilemma during the Second Discourse of the Bhagavad Gita, and although the God Krishna seeks to help guide him towards an understanding of the meaning of his life, Arjuna is still wary of making the wrong decision. This decision concerns itself with either fighting in a civil war against family relatives, having to kill those Arjuna cares most about, or abandoning his dharma as a warrior and jeopardizing fulfilling his duty the greater Self that plays such a pivotal role in his people s culture and beliefs. While advocating for the battle and fulfilling one s dharma, Krishna utilizes the point that the Self an overarching force in life is a formless, eternal entity that cannot die and is more than the mere vessels that encompass the human beings across the battlefield. It is more important to the greater vitality of one s existence to complete a duty to the Self rather than live with the temporary benefits of living in what may appear to be a more pleasurable life, but one with no fulfillment. The International Whaling Regime Essay The International Whaling Regime In his article, Whale Mining, Whale Saving, Sidney Holt states, saving the whales is for millions of people a crucial test of their political ability to halt environmental destruction (Holt 1985). In a world where environmental issues are often so vast that solving them seems impossible, it is rare to encounter a regime which successfully addresses these problems. If we judge a regime s effectiveness by its ability to change the behavior of its members and possibly even encourage others to join, then the whaling regime was in fact quite effective. This stipulation proved important in the evolution of the IWC over time because as non whaling nations began to join in the 1960s and 1970s, they increased the pressure on the IWC to turn its focus from that of market regulation to a preservationist or conservationist standpoint (Andressen in Implementation and effectiveness... 1998). But why would nations who did not participate in the whaling industry want to join the IWC? One reason might be that IWC membership was an easy (and cheap) way to improve their reputation as green minded without having to make any significant changes in policy. Furthermore, the decades between the 1960s and 1980s saw an increase in the number of NGO s taking on the cause of whale conservation which also drove the IWC to re evaluate its goals and objectives. As a result, the IWC agreed upon a 10 year moratorium on commercial whaling in1982 and put it into effect in 1986. The moratorium prohibited all commercial whaling, and granted certain quotas to indigenous peoples who needed the whales for subsistence, and to scientific research efforts. • 38. The Social Differences Between Oral And Oral History Oral accounts are crucial to understanding historical events which may have not been recorded through text. The whole process in oral history is important to create the bigger image of the story and provide the meaning. The act of listening is just as complex as interpreting the story, both aspects give history a better understanding. The uniqueness of oral history can t compare to written history due to the compassion and emotions that are evoked while talking. There are social implications of oral history that come in various forms which effect the process. Although it is a complex process, it enhances historical practices for many reasons. The comparison between oral and written history has many discrepancies that impact the understanding of history in a great way. Oral history has the ability to evoke many emotions due to being able to see the body language of the speaker. Gestures create emphasis on various words which may have a significant meaning to the speaker. These gestures would not be seen through text thus it allows readers to experience the story through emotions as well as facts. The intensity of words also creates emphasis which is only available through speech. Francis Good uses an analogy to express the difference between text and oral accounts. Good states manuals and handbooks invariably provide advice on the issues, problems and strategies involved, but practice and comment show considerable divergence at times (Good, 362) which alludes to the conclusion that textual accounts can leave out some information. These aspects contribute to how the audience perceives the information given, importance will be given to items which can t be expressed through text. Oral history serves a social purpose in today s society. Oral accounts give the public a better understanding about social, political and economic issues which may not be written about. Oral history changes the precedent of how history is interpreted. It enhances the historical practices by emphasizing important aspects and revealing stories which may not have been heard otherwise. The Importance Of Diversity In Language Learning Our understanding of language, as languages educators becomes part of our professional stance and, as such, influences our curriculum, planning and classroom pedagogies. Teachers who view language simply as code make acquiring grammar and vocabulary the primary, if not the only, goal of language learning. Within such a limited approach, students do not begin to engage with language as a communicative reality but simply as an intellectual exercise or as a work requiring memorising. It is primarily a conventional symbol system concerned with communication or coorperation between people (Lyons, 1981) Individual and social (Gee Hayes, 2011) people talk like others and yet all have their own style (Bakhtin, 1981, 1986). These organisms provide medicinal properties for society, help filter air and water, and provide the community with a plentiful supply of resources, including clothing and food ( Endangered Species ). Any species that crawls, walks or roams the earth can be pushed towards a level of endangerment. Once a species is considered threatened or endangered in an ecosystem, groups of scientists and biologists analyze the situation and classify the organism into the correlating category. Researchers calculate the population size and growth rates, along with popular trends within the species. After initial observations and research, the endangered species is classified into one of three groups: nationally critical, nationally endangered, or nationally vulnerable ( Conservation Status of Plants and Animals ). Many organisms cannot be protected due to limited budgets and the immense amount of work involved with classification.
