Essay On Pregnant Women In America
Introduction: In the past thirty years the number of incarcerated women in the United States increased
by 646%, it is estimated that 6 10% of these women were pregnant at intake. An Examination of Care
Practices of Pregnant Women Incarcerated in Jail Facilities in the United States, is a study that
examined the pregnancy related accommodation and health care provided for regional jail populations.
Prior to this study no other study examined regional jail populations, they strictly focused on prison
populations. This study is a quantitative survey of common practices and policies implemented across
53 jail facilities in the United States as a function of geographic region. This survey was administered

survey emailed to them. Less than half of the jails, 37.7%, reported that they give pregnancy tests to
all women who enter the facility. While 45.3% reported that they rely on the women s self report of
pregnancy status and performed tests to confirm pregnancy. Once pregnancy was confirmed less than
30% of the facilities informed women of options such as adoption or termination. All of the jails
reported to having onsite medical care, the majority of the jails reported that they do not charge for
OB/GYN medical services. However, almost one third of the facilities reported that they do not have
onsite OB/GYN care instead they transport women outside of the jail for medical care. Lastly, only
68% of the jails reported to providing infection disease screening, and only 44% provide ultrasounds
to women during The majority of the facilities reported that they provide a bottom bunk, food
supplements, and prenatal vitamin to pregnant inmates. In spite of this, most facilities do not provide
fluid supplement or healthy food options. Nine of the participating jails were asked if programs are
provided for pregnant women in their facilities. Only five of the facilities provide programs, which
include parenting classes and a pregnancy class. About half of the jail reported that pregnant women

Examples Of Zits Assumptions In Flight
Zits Assumptions In every person s life time they have and make assumptions. They make these about
themselves, other people, and situations in their life. Sometimes these are learned from the
environment a person s n or has grown up in. There are three types of assumptions. One being
paradigmatic which is the one that is engrained in you and can be hard to realize they exist. There is
the casual assumption by which you believe that if certain events happen then there will be a certain
outcome. Finally, there is the prescriptive assumption this is the assumption that you are told that you
should do something if you want another thing happen. Everybody makes assumptions, and everybody
can learn from their assumptions. In the book Flight the character Zits has several assumptions that he
changes by the end of the book, as well as my own self.
A casual assumption that zits makes throughout this book is, if he lets somebody love him and show
him affection, then he will be hurt by them. Zits has major trust issues. Everyone he has loved or cared
about has eventually left him or hurt him. His dad left him and his mom when he was born. His mom
died of cancer, which was not anyone s fault, but Zits blames his dad. When he was put into foster
care and the dads would hurt him. When he got close to Edgar a man who was native American like
his dad and he crashed the airplanes hurting Zits. Everyone he tried to show affection to pushed him
away and hurt him even more. Eventually he

golden rule in that they should treat Cast Members how they would want them to treat Guests. In
doing so, Disney will be striving to create a magical experience not only for its valued guests, but also
for the people that make it happen, the Cast.

Part of the Disney success is our ability to create a believable world of dreams that appeals to all age

Much of what differentiates Disney Theme Parks from their competitors is their ability to fully

to the wayside. The core to the success of Disney Theme Parks is an outstanding commitment to guest
service and the Cast Member s ability and freedom to do whatever possible to make sure the guest s
stay is a positive and memorable one. This has become the expectation of Disney guests, as well as the
expectation of the organization as a whole. This expectation is difficult to maintain, especially
considering the high expectations of every individual guest that visits the parks. Even one bad

Hard Work Makes Champions On January 25, 1951, one of America s greatest runners was born,
Steve Prefontaine. He was a very determined young man. His free time was almost always spent
running on the beach, dunes, golf courses, pretty much everywhere. He ran four to eight miles a day.
His hard work finally payed off when he won the Oregon State title, during his junior year. This shows
you can accomplish anything as long as you work your hardest and set your mind to it. Steve was born
and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon, by his mother, Elfriede, and father, Ray Prefontaine. In the book, Pre:
The Story of America s Greatest Running Legend, Steve Prefontaine, Tom Jordan describes Pre as an,

and how slow he learned. During junior high, Pre was a football benchwarmer, for he was only five
feet tall and one hundred pounds. He was often discriminated against because of his height, which is
why he stayed on the bench a majority of the time. Once Steve became a Freshman at Marshfield High

Pros And Cons Of Modern Day Technology

Review Of The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Stories about quests are common tales told throughout history and in many different cultures. All
quest stories follow the same pattern and have the same archetypes. The first stage in a quest is the call
to adventure or the protagonist s separation from his or her daily life. The next stage is the , threshold
stage. After threshold is initiation or loss and the final stages are, the ultimate boon and return. Within
every quest, there is also some lesson to be learned by the protagonist. The Epic of Gilgamesh, a story
written thousands of years ago by the ancient Sumerians, follows the same archetypes as any modern
day quest story. Gilgamesh begins his quest when he is separated from his normal life in Uruk and
meets Enkidu. He then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This first stage shows shows a lot about ancient Sumerian spiritual culture. First, it shows that the
ancient Sumerians were a polytheistic society. Their creator god is a female which shows that females
were respected enough to hold a position of power. This was most likely because they can create life.
Their belief system in gods and goddesses also shows that people believed that the gods could change
their society and the daily lives of people. However, Enkidu and Gilgamesh unintended friendship also
shows that the ancient Sumerians believed that their deities couldn t control every facet of life. As the
epic continues, Gilgamesh and Enkidu succeed on their mission to kill the demon Humbaba. Humbaba

Gilgamesh and Enkidu cannot both live. Between these two [let one of them die!] And Enlil said: Let
Enkidu die, but not let Gilgamesh die! (The Epic of Gilgamesh, III(?) col. i). After having another

articulate his vision for the paper? If you were in Nick s shoes, how would you articulate your vision
in this case? I feel Nick articulated his vision very well because 80% of the positions were filled with
former employees. Nick knew there would be those who would not let go of the past and he spoke
strongly by saying, If you can t let go of the past...you can t move forward (as cited in Introduction to
Leadership, 2015, p. 63). Nick knows the only way for the digital paper to be successful is to let go of
the past and build the future of new reporting online. If I were in Nick s place I feel I would articulate
how this change is an adventure and that those who move forward with the company are pioneers. I
would encourage the employees to build upon this vision because it is a new adventure for all
involved. 5. Do you think the newspaper will thrive under Nick s leadership?

Manners Are Manners Matter
Manners Matter
People living in this era must have had an experience of people bumping into each other, and just
walking away without apologizing. Some of them are in an urgent situation and we can tolerate that
there is no time to be polite but most of them, whatever they are doing, are not in a hurry. People are
usually able to judge whether the rude person was in a crucial situation. It s true that it gets really
frustrating to see the impolite person walk away like nothing happened when my feelings are hurt. It is
becoming certain that manners and courtesies are disappearing at a rapid speed.
Manners have been greatly valued and judged since the ancient times, but not anymore. People who
did not keep their ways to monarchs or even to high officials were often severely punished or
executed. Whenever I did something that was unmannerly, my parents punished me very harshly,
usually with a long stick that I brought home with me from camping. I always regretted that I brought
that stick home. Now, that I reflect on the things that I ve done to my parents, I think they made the
right choice.
Manners are important because they show love, gratitude, and respect toward another when practiced.
They affect how we speak or act in a given situation. For example, saying thank you or please
suggests that the person is feeling gratitude and respect. An individual who provided help will feel
absolutely delighted and feel that is was worthwhile to give the person the help he

Creatine To Avoid Supplements
Natural, performance enhancing supplements are vital in many athletes diet regimen because they are
beneficial in muscle recovery and growth. Aside from the very popular and sometimes overrated post
workout aids of sports drinks, such as Gatorade and PowerAde, or protein shakes and bars, Creatine is
an emerging natural supplement that is becoming popular within the teen sports community. Creatine
already exists naturally in the body and is produced by amino acids that are created by the liver and
kidneys, which are sent through the blood to the muscle, giving the athlete energy. The elevation of
energy, alongside regular weight training, eventually leads to a bulkier and more defined muscled
athlete.

Because creatine supplements help muscle grow faster, it tends to create bulky muscle, which is good
for explosive and high intensity activities. Creatine can act as a detriment to those who are looking to
build endurance such as long distance runners who participate in marathons or triathlons. Creatine
supplements are more geared toward activities that release shorter bursts of energy such as short
sprints, football, and wrestling. Creatine was found to create muscle fibers that are fast twitch, which
typically uses anaerobic metabolism to generate short energy bursts. Endurance activities need slow
twitch muscles that uses oxygen for energy. Creatine can help those endurance athletes gain muscle,
however the bulk will not be beneficial to them. But, for an athlete like me, who long jumps and triple
jumps, creatine is effective in building my muscle and giving me the energy to complete short burst of

Second Language Acquisition And Identity Formation
Second Language Acquisition and Identity Formation
Research Question:
What role does learning a second language play in the way one shapes their identity?
Background:
Identity is subjective, not only to the individual to which the identity belongs, but also the way in
which others perceive identity. This means that identity is not solely an individual event, but also a
social one. Without social practices, such as identifying with specific cultures and norms, how would
one know with which customs or cultures he or she identifies? People need to be able to see variation
in the world to decide what parts of society they identify and with which parts of society they do not
identify. One way people may be able to make informed decisions with which people or customs they
should identify is by the languages they speak. Language is a means of expression. It is a means by
which people can communicate and relate to others. Each language has its own varying culture based
on the location of where the language is spoken, as well as the people who speak that language. Since
languages and cultures are related, and cultures and identities are related, this means that languages
and identities are related. If someone speaks a certain language, she will then be able to identify with
the culture behind that language and realize it is a part of oneself. What happens if a second language
is added into the discussion of identity? What customs are adapted? What are the outcomes?

Positive And Negative Effects Of Divorce
When everyone is younger, they picture themselves getting married, having a stable career, and a
family. But not every marriage turns out to be picture perfect like it does when you envision your
future. The couples that cannot work out their issues turn to divorce. Some marriages need to end,
especially ones that are abusive. In the end, the parent and children have a more positive effect
because they got away from a bad situation. But marriages could end for many reasons, such as one of
the spouses having an affair, the couple falling out of love, they could be fighting more often, and so
forth. When parents do divorce, every child reacts to their parents splitting differently, but most of the
time it will come with some effect whether it be positive or negative. Divorce changes the lives of a
family, and children usually take it harder than the parents because they not only witness everything
their parents are going through, but they have to deal with the circumstances of divorce as well.
Children can develop depression from their parents getting a divorce. Dr. Strohschein found that,
compared to parents who remain married, parents who divorce tend to be younger and report higher
levels of family dysfunction and depression, and lower levels of marital satisfaction. These very
characteristics that put them at risk of divorce are also associated with child mental health problems.
(Cotton) Children with depression may give up on their school work and start failing their

Physical Appearance In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In today s society, people are constantly being judged based on their physical appearance; lacking
aesthetics in any way may lead to rejection. In Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Shelley created
characters that experienced what was going on in society during her day and what is still present in
society today. One of the characters s in Frankenstein was abandoned and left with no one due to his
undesirable physical appearance. In today s society, this is similar to what people with deformities
often experience. Due to the inferior mentality, race, and class in society in which Mary Shelley lived,
the creature s unappealing physical appearance played an immense role in the abandonment he
experienced; to this day, physical appearance still plays a huge role in society.

Educating Special Needs Essay
Educating Special Needs Students
Identifying and providing for special needs children is essential to special education. Once a child has
been diagnosis with a disability or multiple disabilities, a plan of care is initiated according to the
severity of their condition and their needs. This plan is individualized; one child s diagnosis is not a
reflection of the wide range conditions that affect many children. Intellectual disabilities can be mild
to profound, can be caused by different factors and can have a different impact on a student s
education and adult life. (Hardman, Drew, Egan, 2013). Professionals have found many causes for

Autism is labeled among the most complicated, complex disability. Autism is defined as a pervasive
developmental disorder with onset prior to age 3, characterized by qualitatively impaired social
interactive and social communicative skills along with restricted and repetitive repertoire of behavior,
interests, and activities. (Hardman, Drew, Egan, 2013). No particular cause has been linked to autism,
however it has been established that abnormalities in brain structure and function is a general
explanation. (Autism Society, n.d). Autism is a developmental disability that effects how a person
thinks, learns and understands the world. This will pose a large impact on the education of students.
Characteristics of autism differ in all children and can impact students differently. Some can have
difficulties in communication, social interaction, repetitive behavior, restricted interest, sensory
processing, and learning styles. (Autism Society, n.d). Any encounter multiple children with autism

Crimes And Copyright Infringement And Illegal File Sharing...
Introduction
All crimes come in different forms. Computer related crimes are no different ( Most common
schemes: Identity crimes, 2009). In some computer based crimes, a computer is used to commit the
crime, such as in copyright infringement and illegal file sharing cases (Volonino, Anzaldua Godwin,
2007, p. 67). To best investigate these crimes, an investigator must understand how to preserve and
authenticate all electronic evidence that pertains to the case (Volonino, Anzaldua Godwin, 2007, p.
67). This training manual will provide an overview of copyright infringement and illegal file sharing
crimes, as well as explain how to conduct a seizure and search of evidence. In addition, the manual
addresses investigative concerns related to these cases.
Overview of the crime According to Volonino, Anzaldua and Godwin (2007), technological advances
have led to an increase in computer based crimes such as copyright infringement and illegal file
sharing (p. 66). Copyright infringement is defined as the copying, distribution or sharing of
copyrighted works, including music, videos, and digital copies of textbooks without permission (
Copyright Infringement and Illegal File Sharing, 2015). A common form of copyright infringement is
software piracy. This is when a person makes unauthorized copies of a software or music file to share
or transfer to other people ( Copyright Infringement Penalties, 2009). Some legal issues associated
with copyright infringement include the

Hunger In The Hunger Game
In the novel Hunger Game, author Suzanne Collins narrates a girl name Katniss Everdeen who
voluntarily replaces her younger sister, Prime, to be one of the tribute to participate in the hunger
game. She is the family s backbone after her father died in a mining accident. The district only gave
them a small compensation but it s not enough to support her family s living. Soon, they run out of
money and suffer from hunger. They live in the District 12 where it s a poor and food shortage region.
People often suffer from hunger and Katniss is of no exception. In one section of the story, Katniss
could not trade old baby clothes for food or find food from trash bins. She passes by a bakery one day
and she is extremely hungry:
When I passed the baker s, the smell of fresh bread was so overwhelming I felt dizzy. The ovens were
in the back, and a golden glow spilled out the open kitchen door. I stood mesmerized by the heart and
the luscious scent until the rain interfered, running its icy fingers down my back, forcing me back to
life. (Collins 29)
Katniss is immersed in the smell of the aromas of bread, and although she is close to the bakery, she is
not able to eat the fresh bread. For her, the fresh bread will only be for viewing sensation rather than
tasting sensation, and I have a similar experience as Katniss who often suffer hunger. As I read this
section of Katniss, it reminds me that I was an acrobatic school in my 13 years old. Everyone
attending the school had extraordinarily strict dietary restriction. Chocolates, chips, breads, cookies
are snacks that were prohibited. Rice and noodle were limited to only a small amount for eating,
because they are high carb and high starch food. We were only allowed low calorie food to maintain
our physiques even though we were extremely active and were required to practice acrobatics on a
regular basis. We didn t eat enough food before our physical training, because we might vomit if we
eat too much. Although these snacks were my favorite, I could not eat them due to strict rules. I was
only able to enjoy them through the senses of seeing and smelling to satisfy my emotional need for
these comfort foods. At the age of 17, six acrobatics, including me, participated

Modern And Brazilian Jujutsu
There are three main types of Jujitsu: Traditional, Gendai or modern, and Brazilian . Traditional jujitsu
is considered a Japanese art just as kado, or flower arrangement; and chado, or tea ceremony. JuJitsu is
composed of techniques and moves such as joint locking, throwing, sweeping, chokes, and striking.
Weapon training is also a relevant although not necessary part of Jujutsu, typically, knife, sword, or
staff. The main goal or objective of Jujutsu is to defeat the enemy by any means necessary but also
using as little effort as possible. In JuJItsu techniques should never require one to have to be stronger

It was a busy evening at the brewery, and my double shift was coming to an end. I had arrived to open
the bar at 10 in the morning, and by now, I was more than ready to focus on what I needed to leave.
From the corner of my eye I could see a group of five enter the front door, and I hoped that someone

But, feeling sad is just the middle ground between two other emotions according to the textbook:
Interplay. First, you must be engaged in a deep conversation or thought, which they label as pensive.
Through the conversation in my story is when I began to feel sadness (the middle ground), when I
learned Mary s husband was in the hospital. After sadness, someone can enter a feeling of grieving,
which is the agony and distress felt from the pensive conversation and a feeling of sorrow. In my
experience with this story, I did not feel the grieving emotion. There are four components which make
up emotions: physiological changes, nonverbal reactions, cognitive interpretations, and verbal
expression. In the paragraphs that follow I will define each component as it relates to my sadness
during the story.
Firstly, physiological change is when, a person experiences strong emotions, many bodily changes
occur (Alder, 237). These bodily changes could be warmth, heartbeat, blood pressure, adrenaline, and
can even affect the digestive system. When happiness is experienced the blood pumps faster and
warms the entire body. However, sadness has almost the opposite reaction, causing the body s limbs to
cool. When Mary told me the news, I remember my mind and heart racing, this could ve been the
blood rushing to my torso and head.
Secondly, nonverbal reactions are when, feelings are apparent by observable changes to appearance,

Right To Bear Arms Justified
How is owning a gun justified? By the second amendment, the right to bear arms is granted to the 318
million people currently living in the United States of America. It justifies the ownership of a gun
without directly justifying it. The initial understanding of this amendment by the majority of the U.S.
is that every person (under the right circumstance) has the right to have a gun in their possession.
Although this meaning has been the inherited mindset of most ideas concerning the matter, the
controversial conflicts arising around the existence of this amendment represent the true depth of it s
meaning and how it stands for much more than just the right to own a gun.

The United States has been and continues to be a strong, democratic country, but the importance of the
second amendment resides with the precaution that an unprincipled mind may come into power. It
represents security from an unjust power that could eventually come to leadership in the many future
years of the U.S.A. It gives the people something that they can yield extra strength with against the
corrupt side. The citizens are able to fight back or at least defend themselves in the situation that they
would need to do so. It gives them the opportunity to take additional precaution. In this way, the
second amendment stands for how the rules in this state remain honest to America s power and how it
truly resides with its people. It represents America s kept promise of democracy and how it acts as a

Dna Evidence Of A Dna Unit Within A Crime Lab
Today in the crime world, DNA evidence is strongly accepted in solving crime cases. This is all based
in part by allowing a crime laboratory to have a designated unit whose main goal is to analyze DNA
evidence to aid investigators with positive outcomes in crime case solving. With that being said we are
going to discuss the functions of a DNA unit within a crime lab as well as address the vital role these
units play in solving crime.
Let s start by defining what in fact is DNA analysis. According to the FBI s crime lab, the DNA
analysis process can take place when bodily fluid stains and other biological tissues are found on
physical evidence collected from a crime scene (FBI DNA Casework Unit, 2016). The DNA testing
results obtained from evidence samples are compared to DNA from reference samples collected from
known individuals. Such analyses may be able to associate victims and suspects with each other, with
evidence items, or with a crime scene (FBI DNA Casework Unit, 2016). The FBI and other national
crime labs can conduct nuclear, Y chromosome, and or mitochondrial DNA testing depending on the
technology and funds appropriated to the unit. Smaller fielded units would probably not be able to do
some testing which would result in them forwarding evidence or using other assets with greater
capabilities.
DNA is the genetic material that makes up the characteristics of all living organisms. While all human
DNA is very similar in nature, there is just enough differences in

Agents Of Socialisation Australia
The representatives of socialisation are emotions, self concept, attitudes and behaviour they are likely

children s growth in the Australian society are family and school. This tasker will justify the
vocabulary of Socialisation and discover the two principals Agents of Socialisation in Australian
society and culture. The term Socialisation indicates the action such as skills, knowledge,
behaviours/attitudes, values, and motivations particular individual encounters or is taught through a

What Are The Similarities Between Achilles And Beowulf
Humans are imperfect, created half to rise, and half to fall ...The glory, jest, and riddle of the world!
(15 18). Both Homer s Iliad, which illustrates the story of the renowned warrior Achilles, and the
Saxon Beowulf, which highlights the adventures of the heroic monster killer Beowulf, convey the idea
that humans are in the middle state (line 3), as Alexander Pope once said. Both works offer insights
that still apply to today s society, where human capability and ambition combined with weakness and
emotion can lead to disaster.
The main characters of both stories, Achilles and Beowulf, are larger than life and never satisfied with
mundanity, seeking to boast their superhuman prowess and cement their glory, but in the end are
proven to be mortal. Achilles, a demi god, is impervious to weapons everywhere but his heel, and uses
this ability to gain fame as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even in modern times, there are still some who seek for their own selfish glory and ambitions and
cause massive repercussions to others. The attitudes of the leaders of some politically extreme nations
such as IS, North Korea, and Israel, reflect those of Achilles and Beowulf. The leader of IS in
particular the caliph, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi pursues extreme Islamic ideology, enacting a genocide
and a war in order to win glory in the annals of Islamic history.
Although now we live in technologically advanced world, human nature has remained the same. Our
basic motivations remain the same. Just as in Beowulf and the Iliad, in our modern times corruption,
avarice, and envy are abound, as much as courage, bravery, and honor. Thus remains the vital question
whether humans should choose to be like Achilles and Beowulf; brave, bold, and ambitious, yet

Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of Our Modern Society
Andrea Serrano
Whitley
English 1101
22 October 2015
Stereotypes in Our Modern Society Stereotypes are a big problem in society and will continue to be in
the future as well. Some people label others with certain stereotypes only because they think they
should act, talk, or dress a certain type of way. It is wrong that people think someone should act this or
that way based off their gender, nationality, or personality. The people that have those beliefs are too
narrow minded and ignorant to see other people s points of views and to think of other s feelings.
People should stop labeling others and instead grow and develop into a community that aims for
equality and respect for one another. People tend to prejudice someone and create an idea based off
what they see. For example, if a person is shy in public, others will automatically assume that person
is a loner and has no friends. The media is to blame for this because it constantly targets people in a
way that s racist and stereotypical. It targets different people by saying things based off their
nationality and color. Most people think it is fine to do so because it s funny as seen on TV, but that s
the media s strategy. The media manipulates people by making stereotypical jokes and puns seem
funny. Making things seem funny that are actually not funny at all leads people to think it s perfectly
normal. It s not necessarily the viewers fault, but the media s fault. People are constantly blinded from
the reality of what

Qualitative And Mixed Methods
In research, there are mainly three approaches i.e. Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed methods. The
importance of qualitative inquiry established first in Sociology (the work of Chicago school) and
Anthropology (fieldwork of Malinowski and Radcliffe Brown) in 1920s and 1930s. Qualitative
research is primarily exploratory in nature and involves a variety of different approaches. It gives us
understanding of underlying reasons, opinions and motivation. Qualitative research is a field of
inquiry in which the observer studies a foreign setting other than his own culture, customs and habits.
The existence of qualitative research was an issue in 1970s and 1980s. The paradigm war started for
social justice that delegitimizes the assumptions of positivists. Critical and feminist theories were
emerging which throws light upon poor, non whites, marginalized and women. This paradigm war
incapacitates the quantitative research in education. Qualitative research avoids or downplays
quantitative methods.

for him to have a better knowledge of the mountain people, he specifically joined with a storekeeper
because the local store it is the center of the town where Hick can see a lot of people talk and gossip.
That how Hick figured out their social relationship.
2) With regard to the Introduction to the Culture and Ethnography section of the Conformity and
Conflict (C C) text, what is tacit cultural knowledge and what is an example of tacit cultural
knowledge from your own culture? You can choose an example from either the broader American
culture or your own specific cultural group?
Tacit cultural knowledge is information that would be difficult to explain or write to others. It is a
knowledge that people would lack words for. It is limited number of sound categories. Oftentimes,
researchers discover them only by observed the behavior from the people in the

David s Tomb Final Paper
On June 1st of 2015, Israeli police had to use force to arrest a group of Yeshiva students preventing
Christians from entering King David s tomb. This was not the first time this sort of incident occured in
the holy site. For ages now, King David s tomb became a hotbed for controversy, international and
religious tension. Even the people are fully opposite when it comes to reporting and explaining the
incident I just mentioned. The Christianpost for example describes Christian worshippers treated
unfairly by Jewish protesters trying to appropriate the site to themselves. Meanwhile, more
conservative Zionist religious news outlets like the Yeshiva world news describe the unfair treatment
of righteous and peaceful students protesting by the police. The article even goes as far as implying
that the police has an orchestrated plan to remove all Jews from the site to make King David s tomb
exclusively a Christian site. More extreme perspectives can be observed as Rabbi Lazer Brody
describes the event: Earlier this week, the xtian idolaters tried to enter King David s holy gravesite
with their incense and crosses to hold their mass. These are the very emissaries of the Dark Side.[...]
Hashem kindled a holy spirit in my beloved teacher, Rav Shalom Arush, who stood up like a lion to
protect King David s gravesite against the profane intruders. He came with a Torah scroll and prayed
there. When the young men of

Disease Research Report
December 9, 2010
CHOLERA
Disease Defined Cholera is an infection of the small intestine that causes a large amount of watery
diarrhea. Cholera is a bacterial disease (caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae) usually spread
through contaminated water. The bacteria, which are found in fecal contaminated food and water and
in raw or undercooked seafood, produce a toxin that affects the intestines causing diarrhea, vomiting,
and severe fluid and electrolyte loss. This overwhelming dehydration is the outstanding characteristic
of the disease and is the main cause of death. Cholera has a short incubation period (two or three days)
and runs a quick course. In untreated cases the death rate is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
In this setting, the disease occurs primarily in young children, who are exposed to the organism for the
first time, and in the elderly, who have lower gastric acid production and waning immunity. The poor
are at greatest risk because they often lack safe water supplies, are unable to maintain proper hygiene
within the home, and may depend on street vendors or other unregulated sources for food and drink.
Recent epidemiologic research suggests that an individual s susceptibility to cholera (and other
diarrheal infections) is affected by their blood type: those with type O blood are the most susceptible,
while those with type AB are the most resistant. Between these two extremes are the A and B blood
types, with type A being more resistant than type B.
Signs and Symptoms * Dry mucus membranes or mouth * Dry skin * Excessive thirst * Glassy or
sunken eyes * Lack of tears * Lethargy * Low urine output * Nausea * Rapid dehydration *
Abdominal cramps * Watery diarrhea * Rapid pulse * Vomiting
The usual incubation period is 2 to 5 days, although it can be as short as several hours. Severe cholera
is characterized by a sudden onset of profuse, watery diarrhea accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
If left untreated, this can rapidly lead to serious dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and circulatory
collapse. Over 50% of the most severe cases die within a few hours; with prompt, effective treatment,

The Green Revolution Was A Period Of Technological...
The Green Revolution was a period of technological innovation in agriculture between the years 1943
and the 1970s. It was due to food becoming inadequate, and economic life became primitive and
inactive. This was a time where disease ravaged, conditions were horrible, and hunger was common.
Positively, the Green Revolution caused an increase in food supply, expansion into new technology,
and provided social mobility. On the flip side, it also caused the necessity for more labor, and
increased the need for cash incomes. The Green Revolution caused new changes in social structure.
The caste system was slowly being demolished, as the new increase in food production allowed
peasants to be able to advance to the middle and upper classes

Neurology Career Research Paper
Who can say if it is we who make the choice, or the choice that makes us? I find myself asking this
question in the context of my pursuit of a career in neurology. In retrospect, I have made many
choices, but choices have also made me. I am the child that was born in Lebanon, the boy that
witnessed war, the teenager that got stuck out of his country alone for a while, the young adult that
fled his country, and the matured adult who stopped running away from hardship and faced his
challenges. At this time, I write to make a choice. I choose neurology. I choose neurology as my first,
second, third, and fourth choice.
I have always been passionate about medicine, but I unconsciously took the non traditional path to
fulfill this goal. I loved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My training in business developed my managerial and leadership skills, my ability to work as part of
an effective and productive team, and taught me the value of taking initiative to yield the best outcome
possible given resource and time constraints. My year long volunteer work with a youth initiative
program refined my communication skills by listening to, relating with, and guiding those who are
more vulnerable. My ability to communicate in 6 languages and having lived in more than 4 countries
and 8 cities allows me to care for a diverse population and to adapt quickly to changing environments.
My thirst for knowledge, curiosity for answers, statistical as well as analytical skills push me to be
active in research activity. My tutoring experience during medical school shed light on my strong
teaching skills.
Accordingly, I am looking for a neurology program that puts the patient first, that encourages high
quality research, that values collegiality and excellence, and that offers a vast exposure to neurological
cases, particularly critical cases. A program that selects me will receive an individual who is well
rounded, diligent, adaptable, intellectually curious, and caring for both patients and colleagues. Today,
I choose to be a physician, a neurologist, a neuro intensivist. Today, I make the choice, and I hope the
choice will also make

Should English Be The Official Language
Everyone knows English is the hardest language to learn. Then why learn the language? Maybe
because they have not really thought of the bonuses to learning English. English should be the official
language of the United States because it encourages foreign countries to learn English, the US
economy saves money, and the English language will unite all around Americans around a common
language. Encourages foreign countries to learn our language. A study is shown in 2014 that bout 3/4s
of schools found in Germany teach Englisch. Schools found in china about 63% of those schools
know English. Comparable studies found in other schools all over the world found similar results.
Other ways foreign countries can learn English is having it be required

Kale Smoothie-Personal Narrative
I woke up to kids pushing and shoving to get off the bus.
The bus driver turned and scream, SIT DOWN I HAVEN T EVEN OPENED THE DOOR YET! The
bus door popped open. I stood up and grabbed my bag, my hair had started to harden, it felt like I had
a pile of crap on top of my head. I stepped into the aisle just to be shoved into another row of seats.
My face hit the side of the bus, I felt blood dripping on my face. I make a quick move to cover the
blood. People thought I was weird enough, I didn t need unexplained bloody noses on the bus, to add
to the odd things about me.
Make way freak! Me and my lady are coming through! I looked and saw Brad, Alice s boyfriend,
doing a small bow to seem classy. When he bowed, he looked like one of the ballerina ... Show more

Blake nodded and started to color in his kid s menu. I held Alice s hand trying to get her to smile.
Once I got Alice s beautiful smile to show I noticed Blake looked upset.
What s wrong champ? I asked. He pointed to under the table at a red crayon he had dropped.
Don t cry, I ll grab it, I said as I let go of Alice s hand. I lowered myself onto the ground grabbed the
crayon. When I tried to get back up I hit my head on the table. I fell back onto the ground, my head
had already been throbbing in pain, but I couldn t remember why.
Then in less than half a second I was in the ER. Alice was standing over me fear in her eyes, I look
around and see blake isn t here. I also notice that I am hooked up to an IV tube. Seems like a bit much
for hitting your head on a table in a restaurant, I thought to myself. I see a tray with a bloody knife on
it. What in the world happened with that?! I started getting scared, Alice was crying. I tried to look
around the room again but my head wouldn t move the time. I tried to speak but started choking on
water.

The Role Of Human Nature In American Culture
What does my culture tell me about human nature? Good question, but first, we need to establish,
what is human nature? I would say, human nature is what makes us unique, it is something captured at
birth, its instinctive, biological and something that differentiates us from every other species on earth.
The question then becomes, can our culture influence this natural state, or are we pre disposed as
human beings to be inherently different from one another based on origin of birth. I believe all human
beings, share a common bond and special connection that makes uniquely human, no matter social
status, religious belief, or country of origin. You are first and foremost a Human Being, then the
culture you live in will change or influence you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, but not in any natural, biological, or inherent way. Cultures do change humans over time, if the
culture is good, then the people for the most part will be good. If the culture is bad, then people can
and will become evil. Nazi Germany under Hitler s rule was Evil, and yes, some people committed
horrible atrocities, but does this mean all Germans were evil, no way, in fact, some Germans hated the
Nazis and would do anything in their power to stop them. This was an eye opening assignment and
really made me think, I would ve loved this to have been a forum post assignment I m sure opinions
and thoughts would greatly

Some of them are in an urgent situation and we can tolerate that there is no time to be polite but most of them, whatever they are doing, are not in a hurry. People are usually able to judge whether the rude person was in a crucial situation. It s true that it gets really frustrating to see the impolite person walk away like nothing happened when my feelings are hurt. It is becoming certain that manners and courtesies are disappearing at a rapid speed. Manners have been greatly valued and judged since the ancient times, but not anymore. I always regretted that I brought that stick home. Now, that I reflect on the things that I ve done to my parents, I think they made the right choice. Manners are important because they show love, gratitude, and respect toward another when practiced. They affect how we speak or act in a given situation. Second Language Acquisition And Identity Formation Second Language Acquisition and Identity Formation Research Question: What role does learning a second language play in the way one shapes their identity? Background: Identity is subjective, not only to the individual to which the identity belongs, but also the way in which others perceive identity. This means that identity is not solely an individual event, but also a social one. Without social practices, such as identifying with specific cultures and norms, how would one know with which customs or cultures he or she identifies? People need to be able to see variation in the world to decide what parts of society they identify and with which parts of society they do not identify. One way people may be able to make informed decisions with which people or customs they should identify is by the languages they speak. Language is a means of expression. • 22. Hunger In The Hunger Game In the novel Hunger Game, author Suzanne Collins narrates a girl name Katniss Everdeen who voluntarily replaces her younger sister, Prime, to be one of the tribute to participate in the hunger game. She is the family s backbone after her father died in a mining accident. The district only gave them a small compensation but it s not enough to support her family s living. Soon, they run out of money and suffer from hunger. They live in the District 12 where it s a poor and food shortage region. People often suffer from hunger and Katniss is of no exception. In one section of the story, Katniss could not trade old baby clothes for food or find food from trash bins. She passes by a bakery one day and she is extremely hungry: When I passed the baker s, the smell of fresh bread was so overwhelming I felt dizzy. The ovens were in the back, and a golden glow spilled out the open kitchen door. I stood mesmerized by the heart and the luscious scent until the rain interfered, running its icy fingers down my back, forcing me back to life. (Collins 29) Katniss is immersed in the smell of the aromas of bread, and although she is close to the bakery, she is not able to eat the fresh bread. For her, the fresh bread will only be for viewing sensation rather than tasting sensation, and I have a similar experience as Katniss who often suffer hunger. As I read this section of Katniss, it reminds me that I was an acrobatic school in my 13 years old. Everyone attending the school had extraordinarily strict dietary restriction. Chocolates, chips, breads, cookies are snacks that were prohibited. Rice and noodle were limited to only a small amount for eating, because they are high carb and high starch food. We were only allowed low calorie food to maintain our physiques even though we were extremely active and were required to practice acrobatics on a regular basis. We didn t eat enough food before our physical training, because we might vomit if we eat too much. Although these snacks were my favorite, I could not eat them due to strict rules. I was only able to enjoy them through the senses of seeing and smelling to satisfy my emotional need for these comfort foods. At the age of 17, six acrobatics, including me, participated ... After sadness, someone can enter a feeling of grieving, which is the agony and distress felt from the pensive conversation and a feeling of sorrow. In my experience with this story, I did not feel the grieving emotion. There are four components which make up emotions: physiological changes, nonverbal reactions, cognitive interpretations, and verbal expression. In the paragraphs that follow I will define each component as it relates to my sadness during the story. Firstly, physiological change is when, a person experiences strong emotions, many bodily changes occur (Alder, 237). These bodily changes could be warmth, heartbeat, blood pressure, adrenaline, and can even affect the digestive system. When happiness is experienced the blood pumps faster and warms the entire body. However, sadness has almost the opposite reaction, causing the body s limbs to cool. By the second amendment, the right to bear arms is granted to the 318 million people currently living in the United States of America. This is all based in part by allowing a crime laboratory to have a designated unit whose main goal is to analyze DNA evidence to aid investigators with positive outcomes in crime case solving. With that being said we are going to discuss the functions of a DNA unit within a crime lab as well as address the vital role these units play in solving crime. Let s start by defining what in fact is DNA analysis. According to the FBI s crime lab, the DNA analysis process can take place when bodily fluid stains and other biological tissues are found on physical evidence collected from a crime scene (FBI DNA Casework Unit, 2016). The DNA testing results obtained from evidence samples are compared to DNA from reference samples collected from known individuals. Such analyses may be able to associate victims and suspects with each other, with evidence items, or with a crime scene (FBI DNA Casework Unit, 2016). The FBI and other national crime labs can conduct nuclear, Y chromosome, and or mitochondrial DNA testing depending on the technology and funds appropriated to the unit. Smaller fielded units would probably not be able to do some testing which would result in them forwarding evidence or using other assets with greater capabilities. • 31. Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of Our Modern Society Andrea Serrano Whitley English 1101 22 October 2015 Stereotypes in Our Modern Society Stereotypes are a big problem in society and will continue to be in the future as well. Some people label others with certain stereotypes only because they think they should act, talk, or dress a certain type of way. It is wrong that people think someone should act this or that way based off their gender, nationality, or personality. The people that have those beliefs are too narrow minded and ignorant to see other people s points of views and to think of other s feelings. People should stop labeling others and instead grow and develop into a community that aims for equality and respect for one another. People tend to prejudice someone and create an idea based off what they see. For example, if a person is shy in public, others will automatically assume that person is a loner and has no friends. The media is to blame for this because it constantly targets people in a way that s racist and stereotypical. It targets different people by saying things based off their nationality and color. Most people think it is fine to do so because it s funny as seen on TV, but that s the media s strategy. The media manipulates people by making stereotypical jokes and puns seem funny. Making things seem funny that are actually not funny at all leads people to think it s perfectly normal. It s not necessarily the viewers fault, but the media s fault. The Holy Land And Jerusalem Kea Braekman The Holy Land and Jerusalem David s Tomb Final Paper On June 1st of 2015, Israeli police had to use force to arrest a group of Yeshiva students preventing Christians from entering King David s tomb. This was not the first time this sort of incident occured in the holy site. For ages now, King David s tomb became a hotbed for controversy, international and religious tension. Even the people are fully opposite when it comes to reporting and explaining the incident I just mentioned. The Christianpost for example describes Christian worshippers treated unfairly by Jewish protesters trying to appropriate the site to themselves. Meanwhile, more conservative Zionist religious news outlets like the Yeshiva world news describe the unfair treatment of righteous and peaceful students protesting by the police. The article even goes as far as implying that the police has an orchestrated plan to remove all Jews from the site to make King David s tomb exclusively a Christian site. More extreme perspectives can be observed as Rabbi Lazer Brody describes the event: Earlier this week, the xtian idolaters tried to enter King David s holy gravesite with their incense and crosses to hold their mass. These are the very emissaries of the Dark Side.[...] Hashem kindled a holy spirit in my beloved teacher, Rav Shalom Arush, who stood up like a lion to protect King David s gravesite against the profane intruders. • 42. Essay Cholera Disease Research Report Karla Obasi HEA 341 Disease Research Report December 9, 2010 CHOLERA Disease Defined Cholera is an infection of the small intestine that causes a large amount of watery diarrhea. Cholera is a bacterial disease (caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae) usually spread through contaminated water. The bacteria, which are found in fecal contaminated food and water and in raw or undercooked seafood, produce a toxin that affects the intestines causing diarrhea, vomiting, and severe fluid and electrolyte loss. This overwhelming dehydration is the outstanding characteristic of the disease and is the main cause of death. Cholera has a short incubation period (two or three days) and runs a quick course. In untreated cases the death rate is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this setting, the disease occurs primarily in young children, who are exposed to the organism for the first time, and in the elderly, who have lower gastric acid production and waning immunity. The poor are at greatest risk because they often lack safe water supplies, are unable to maintain proper hygiene within the home, and may depend on street vendors or other unregulated sources for food and drink. Recent epidemiologic research suggests that an individual s susceptibility to cholera (and other diarrheal infections) is affected by their blood type: those with type O blood are the most susceptible, while those with type AB are the most resistant. Between these two extremes are the A and B blood types, with type A being more resistant than type B. Signs and Symptoms * Dry mucus membranes or mouth * Dry skin * Excessive thirst * Glassy or sunken eyes * Lack of tears * Lethargy * Low urine output * Nausea * Rapid dehydration * Abdominal cramps * Watery diarrhea * Rapid pulse * Vomiting The usual incubation period is 2 to 5 days, although it can be as short as several hours. Severe cholera is characterized by a sudden onset of profuse, watery diarrhea accompanied by nausea and vomiting. If left untreated, this can rapidly lead to serious dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and circulatory collapse. Over 50% of the most severe cases die within a few hours; with prompt, effective treatment, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Positively, the Green Revolution caused an increase in food supply, expansion into new technology, and provided social mobility. On the flip side, it also caused the necessity for more labor, and increased the need for cash incomes. The Green Revolution caused new changes in social structure. • 44. Neurology Career Research Paper Who can say if it is we who make the choice, or the choice that makes us? I find myself asking this question in the context of my pursuit of a career in neurology. In retrospect, I have made many choices, but choices have also made me. I am the child that was born in Lebanon, the boy that witnessed war, the teenager that got stuck out of his country alone for a while, the young adult that fled his country, and the matured adult who stopped running away from hardship and faced his challenges. At this time, I write to make a choice. I choose neurology. I choose neurology as my first, second, third, and fourth choice. I have always been passionate about medicine, but I unconsciously took the non traditional path to fulfill this goal. I loved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My ability to communicate in 6 languages and having lived in more than 4 countries and 8 cities allows me to care for a diverse population and to adapt quickly to changing environments. My thirst for knowledge, curiosity for answers, statistical as well as analytical skills push me to be active in research activity. My tutoring experience during medical school shed light on my strong teaching skills. Accordingly, I am looking for a neurology program that puts the patient first, that encourages high quality research, that values collegiality and excellence, and that offers a vast exposure to neurological cases, particularly critical cases. A program that selects me will receive an individual who is well rounded, diligent, adaptable, intellectually curious, and caring for both patients and colleagues. • 47. The Role Of Human Nature In American Culture What does my culture tell me about human nature? Good question, but first, we need to establish, what is human nature? I would say, human nature is what makes us unique, it is something captured at birth, its instinctive, biological and something that differentiates us from every other species on earth. The question then becomes, can our culture influence this natural state, or are we pre disposed as human beings to be inherently different from one another based on origin of birth.
