first nine lines alternate between 8 and 6 syllables. These lines are concerned, as any narrative is,
with exposition. These lines set up darkness as an internal conflict to come. The conflict
intensifies in lines 10 and 11 as we are bombarded by an explosion of 8 syllables in each line.
These lines present the conflict within one s own mind at its most desperate. After this climax, the
syllables in the last nine lines resolve the conflict presented. In these lines, Dickinson presents us
with an archetypal figure that is faced with a conflict: the bravest hero. These lines present the
resolution in lines that alternate between 6 and 7 syllables. Just as the syllables decrease, the falling
action presents us with a final insight. This insight discusses how darkness is an insurmountable
entity that, like the hero, we must face to continue straight through Life (line 20). The next

Various readers tend to misinterpret the concept of magical realism when developing the genre as a
whole. The literary or artistic genre magical realism is the adding of surreal elements within a story

characteristics having to do with the intertwining of elements in which unexplainable events are
seen to be an everyday event, allowing the reader to get a better understanding of the author s

elements that characterize magical realism. Magical realism is evident within the stories, A

man as magical, they really believed he was an angel and expected him to act certain way since

The Philosophy Of Moral Relativism
In the beginning of the semester, we were given an ethical inventory and I felt fairly confident
with my results. I ve never taken an ethics class before, so I was very interested in learning about
different philosophies. I came to class with an opened mind and eager with curiosity and was
intrigued by the many different philosophical theories. This newfound information influenced my
current stance when re taking the inventory. There were a few questions which I had a change of
heart in, most of these questions circled around the philosophy of moral relativism and moral

The origins of kickboxing is found in the martial art of Muay Thai. Kickboxing does not have a
grading system (belts) and fighters are ranked by their competitive record alone (Grahame,
2010). Now though many kickboxing school have started implementing a belt system to help

cold blooded fashion. When a human is emotionally and physically stripped of their pride, it
weakens his or her will to live. The Nazis targeted the Jews humanity, and slowly dissolved their

the first really hurt...twenty four...twenty five. It was over. I had not realized it but I had fainted.
(Wiesel 62). In the case of the Jews doing anything askew, they were to be punished in barbaric
ways. This whipping by the Nazi s had a drastic affect on Eliezer s identity, because before his
punishment Eliezer had not yet altered his inquisitive mindset. Eliezer was at the wrong place at
the wrong time, and as a result he was thrashed and trounced on by one of the German soldiers. This
traumatized Eliezer and brought fear upon him, changing his attitude.
The Nazi s not only dehumanized Eliezer, but they reduced his father from a human being into a
thing that was merely a nuisance. The Nazi s believed that they were on a higher level than the
Jews, so they tried to take whatever dignity the Jews had remaining. Wiesel proves this when
stating he slapped my father with such a force that he fell down and then crawled back to his

Modern Dance Pioneers
When it comes to dance there are many styles such as ballet, jazz, and lyrical, but the one that
stands out is modern. When it comes to modern dance, there are many pioneers such as Alvin Ailey,
Martha Graham, Lester Horton, and Isadora Duncan. The two that interest me the most are Isadora
Duncan and Alvin Ailey. Isadora Duncan was born on May 26, 1877 as Angela Duncan in San
Francisco, California. Her mother was Dora, and her father was Joseph Duncan, who left the
family when Isadora was still young. Her family then moved to Oakland where Isadora and her
sister taught dance classes to help earn money for the family. Isadora was the youngest of four
children and as a child and her siblings were Augustin, Raymond, and Elizabeth Duncan. She took
ballet lessons as a child, but quit, referring to it as affected grace and toe walking. At ... Show more
By 1902 her performances gained the attention of many, leading to her performing with a full
orchestra with her own choreography. Soon after, she opened her own dance school in
Germany. There, she and her sister Elizabeth trained dancers who would become part of her
company, known as the The Isadorables . It Moscow in 1921, Isadora finally founded a school of
dance where she could give her heart in exchange for a free school. Because of all her
contributions, she became known as the Mother of Modern Dance. As far as her personal life, she
had two children by the names of Deidre and Patrick. However, they drowned when their car
rolled into a river in Paris, inspiring new dances, such as Mother . Although, this was not the
only tragedy in her life. On September 14, 1927, Isadora s life was ended. While riding in a sports

Black culture derives from interpretations of traits and other things from Africa.
Africa is continuously recreated and then reconstructed.
African culture is always abused by a large array of different people.
Africa is essential to the making of popular culture, black culture, and new religious systems with
fused roots.
Africa is also essential to the imagery of a modern nation.
The result of Africa being a contest icon is a struggle between white intellectuals, black leaders,
popular and elite culture, conformity and protest, and political ideas developed in the west and their
reinterpretation in Latin America to claim it.
A Brazilian system of race relations creates a uniquely Brazilian Africa that hold both protest and
conformation.
In Brazil, areas like the state of Bahia and the region around the city of Salvador have maintained
African Traits in its black culture.
In Bahia, a debate between modern sociologist and anthropologist took place. This debate
discussed whether or not black culture originated in the 1930 s and if contemporary black culture

After viewing the ABC video The Brain and Violence: Secrets of Your Mind I do believe that
people are predisposed to violence. I do maintain my position that even if the same Neurological
and genetic factors that lead to crime are present in a person the lack of a healthy environment is
what will cause those neurological and genetic factors to manifest themselves into crime or

As mentioned earlier, self regulation is so intimately related to crime that it could be said that
antisocial behavior begins where self regulation ends (Delisi, 2013). Another fact to consider is the
fact that most behavior is learned and/or imitated to include criminal behavior and thought
processes behind criminality are also a learned process. I think that the link is how that biological
factor has been addressed and treated before that person commits crime, in other words besides the

Gender inequality has been and is still a problem being faced worldwide. It has inhibited the social,
economical, and political growth of women in all different nations, especially third world
countries.There are various implications that change the level of inequality such as education,
culture, religion, democratization of countries, years of independence, and most importantly,
economic development. (Dollar Gatti, 1999). This paper is examining the role economic
development as measured through levels GDP (low, medium, high) plays in the level of gender
empowerment in a country. After reading various studies, I have concluded that when regarding
