Dreaming from Various Sources
The objective of this paper is to explore many articles covering the purpose of dreaming from various
sources. The articles, however, may vary from researcher to researcher. As such, this paper will also
detail the different theories about the usefulness of dreams. This paper will also take time to explain
what a dream is, when dreams happen, and what their potential purposes may be. To start this paper,
we first must understand what a dream is. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a dream is a
series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep . Dreams take the things we see during
our waking hours and translate them into unique, sometimes horrifying, and possibly meaningful
ways. Dreams could also be representations of subconscious feelings and desires, bubbling up from
deep within our psyche. However, the actual purpose of dreams remains a mystery, even to today s
foremost experts on this subject. Sigmund Freud attempted to understand what dreams meant; he
thought that dreams were safeguards attempt deeper and darker desires from the human mind s id.
Decades later, scientist John Allan Hobson theorized that dreams are a result of the brain attempting to
interpret random electrical impulses within the brain, producing often elaborate and vivid details and
plots while we sleep. Other research suggests that dreams are the brain s unique way of organizing
disparate information; a kind of nightly mental reformatting. The average Joe takes a

Cain Was The Firstborn Of Adam And Eve Essay
Cain was the firstborn of Adam and Eve. In him were deposited all the desires of restoration of the
original state of the man and mainly of the state of intimate communion with God the all powerful.
Therefore, Cain shows himself to be a person who did not please God with his offerings, because his
motivation was different from the motivation of his brother Abel, as he sought to present the best of
his flock to the Lord as we can see at Genesis 4:3 5 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain
brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings
of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto
Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell . It
happened at the end of a time Cain brought from the fruit of the earth an offering to the Lord; Abel, for
his part, brought of the firstfruits of his flock and the fat thereof. The Lord of Abel and his offering
were pleased; While Cain and his offering were not pleased. It is understood that Cain would have
offered an offer thankfully and not voluntarily as was the case of Abel. This form of offering of Cain
displeased the Lord, who came to pay attention to Abel s offering. Writing about the punishment God
applied to Cain, which was intended to lead him to repentance, shows how much his heart was
blacked out by sin and rebellion against the Creator. But nevertheless punishment

Unesco World Heritage
UNESCO World Heritage
World heritage sites are significant to learn our history due to the fact that they give a specific
foundation for ideas and authenticate them ( Cultural). World Heritage Site is a site that is listed by
UNESCO to be a special cultural or bodily importance ( World Heritage site). From 1972, UNESCO
took Convention concerning the Protection of the World s Cultural and Natural Heritage, and it
inherited in 1976 ( Introduction). The earliest list, which is listed in 1976, contains Galapagos Islands,
an island which is in the Pacific Ocean, Mount Everest, a mountain in Nepal, Machu Picchu, a remain

To be world heritage site, there are five nomination processes. First, countries must make Tentative
List, which is a list of significant cultural and natural possession ( World Heritage). In Tentative list,
there are 1516 records in 162 states ( Tentative List). As one of example of the list, Fujisan, which is
the tallest mountain in Japan, are submitted on 30 January 2007 ( Fujisan). Second, a State Party
arrange with World Heritage Center when the property that is in Tentative List put into a nomination
file. After nomination file finished, it is sent to Advisory Bodies for assessment. International Council
on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and World Conservation Union (IUCN), which are Advisory
Bodies, give an estimate of the place nominated. And then International Center for the Study of the
Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) gives an advice on protection of the
place. Fourth, World Heritage Committee decides final determination. The committee discusses which
place is listed on World Heritage List once per a year. To become World Heritage Site, the place must
have excellent worldwide worth and reach one of ten assortments principle per natural and cultural
heritage as a minimum ( World Heritage List Nominations). A first criterion is that the site shows a
work of art of people s original uncommon ability. Second, the site shows a significant replacement of
people s worth in the cultural district of the world over a long period of

Twelfth Night Women
Women can easily fall in love as they are gullible and over trusting, whereas men are mindless and
foolish. In Twelfth Night, the characters who prove this are Olivia and Sir Andrew. Olivia has fallen in
love with the fake man Cesario , and Sir Andrew is deliberately trying to woo Olivia through foolish
and pathetic ways. Twelfth Night demonstrates that women are weak and are able to fall in love easily,
due to their gullibility when it comes to love. This was shown as Olivia was able to fall in love with
fake man Cesario , who was truly Viola in disguise. Although the Duke Orsino has real feelings for
Olivia, she refuses to love him back as her love is only for Cesario . Shakespeare conveys this
message through Viola s soliloquy, and is

Sassy Fox Website Analysis
Design
Even if a website has good information architecture and content, poor design can take away from the
two elements and negatively affect the usability of the site. According to Johnson, successful web
design is minimalistic and easily readable with font choices and color palettes (39). The design of
Sassy Fox s website is either extremely busy and misleads users or is minimalistic to a fault. Examples
of these extremes are the website s header and user forms.
One very distracting element of the Sassy Fox website is the header image that takes up half of the
screen. In chapter six, Johnson addresses busy backgrounds saying, visual noise in and around text can
disrupt recognition of features, characters, and words, and therefore drop reading ... Show more

Users are pulled to areas that are graphic heavy, but have no purpose. While features like the gift
certificate form are unusable because they are so underdeveloped. In my opinion, the website would
benefit from changing the Sassy Fox logo to plain text, removing all background images, and using
fonts that are visible and have good contrast. The forms are better left simple, but the field box
definitely need to be closer to its correlating text.
Conclusion:
In this analysis, I only covered a few out of the many problems that that hurt the usability of Sassy
Fox s website. If I had to give it a grade, it would be the lowest one possible because overall the
website is incomplete. Navigating the website is a grid that leads to nowhere, there is no real content,
and the design choices are visually overwhelming. Sassyfox.com is absolutely not a functional
webstore by any means and should definitely be unpublished. I honestly wonder if making it public
was a mistake. There are no good things about this

Analysis Of Black Swan And Shutter Island
Martin Scorsese and Darren Aronofsky are talented directors who have created many award winning
films that incorporate certain techniques used to enhance the audience s experience of the film, some
of their directorial techniques include symbolism, costume, lighting and dialogue. I have chosen
Scorsese s 2010 film Shutter Island along with Aronofsky s 2010 film Black Swan as each of these
films have scenes that incorporate the above mentioned techniques to portray the effects mental illness
has on a person s health and welfare. The scenes are each 8 minutes in length and run until the closing
credits begin. These techniques allow the audience to relate to the film by showing how it links to the
world we live in today where mental illnesses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Symbolism is shown predominantly with the use of a war between black and white in relation to the
war between the persona s Nina has in her mind. These symbols allow the audience to link to the
director s main purpose of showing the effects mental illness has on the people suffering and also
others that are involved closely in their lives. In both Shutter Island and Black Swan symbolism is
featured profoundly throughout which gives the audience the chance to look for the deeper meaning in
what they are viewing. The use of a number of different techniques such as costume and props
displays hidden meaning in the film to the viewers and how this is expressed could hit certain levels of
the psychological and emotional labyrinth that all of us have according to Scorsese. Symbolism in
these films helps the audience understand the effects of mental illness by the cues shown such as the
plaster on Teddy s forehead and the scratch on Nina s back, the more obscure cues given show that
Teddy is a figment of imagination in Andrews mind and becoming a real black swan is also a figment
of imagination in Nina s mind. Events that have happened in both Nina and Andrews past have taken
over, leading them on the path of psychological disintegration. The symbolism used to portray this in
both films is

Comparing Virgin And Child With Donor

The Pictorial style of Art has changed throughout the high Renaissance period to Baroque. The Virgin

With the influence of mannerism in Renaissance , the composition of the figures intertwine and create
not just complex composition but a dynamic three dimensional space. Both of the child have its left
leg stepping forward, however, because of the diagonal composition in the Dolci painting and the
depth expressed by the diagonal accent, it enhances the three dimensional effect. Dolci s composition
is also more unified meaning the subjects form a dynamic composition relationship. There is more
variation of postures in the painting and their limbs, accessories are more intertwined. The scene
seems more like a happening than a positioned, still portrait. Romano s composition of the space seem
to be more layer based and there are less spatial relationships between the figures. Dolci also
introduced a new technique by cropping the image of the subjects with a slight highlighted line. This
new technique is unique in a way that it restraint the subject in another area than the frame. This
enhances the three dimensional effect evermore, giving the illusion as if the viewer would peek into
the space inside of the painting, instead of looking directly at the image and associating it with areas
outside of the painting such as a frame which naturally limits space and create a barrier between the
viewer and the subjects in painting

Isaac Lidsky s Speech
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When life gave Isaac Lidsky blindness, he made a
vision. In his speech, What Reality Are You Creating for Yourself? , Lidsky reveals his main idea that
we all can control our reality and it is ourselves who contest that control. Lidsky s main idea along
with its corresponding major and minor points, the aid of my annotations, and two intriguing research
topics came together to form my interpretation of his speech. Beginning with objectively summarizing

The first research topic idea would be his studies at Harvard. There are may or may not have been
courses that he took to help him realize that he is in control of his reality. Perhaps he learned in detail
the extent of our brain s processing capabilities from a course taken at Harvard. In addition, he could
have taken some psychology courses as well to understand better how emotions trigger a response in
our minds altering what we see. Researching about his studies at Harvard could bring some insight on
how he has developed his speech as well as his vision. The second research topic would be on how
Lidsky lives with his eyes wide open. He has only summarized how to go about doing so, but if I
knew more about how he came to this point in life, my understanding would increase exponentially.
There could be numerous details not mentioned in the twelve minute speech Lidsky gives. Details
about critical points during the process of facing his greatest fears, doubts, and failures that it took for
him to overcome. If Lidsky has a book on the journey he took to get to the point of living with his
eyes wide open, I would admittedly read it to understand his concepts

A psychosocial evaluation is usually conducted by a social worker and is designed to help the
individual s family plan for care. The social worker will discuss the emotional, physical, and financial
impact of Alzheimer s disease and guide family members through an evaluation of their
circumstances. Social workers can also help coordinate community services, suggest alternatives to
the person s present living arrangements, and provide a list of resources and locally available services

frustration, tension and anxiety. Making wrongful decisions can also lead to major consequences for

Observation Of The Environment In A Preschool Classroom
Classrooms environments are very important at the time of learning. According to our textbook, the
environment is viewed as an established behavioral place that forms how we act and behave (Vukelich
Christie, 2016). The environment in the classroom I visited was adequate for learning because it has
all the things a preschool classroom has to have according to the textbook. The classroom has a
bulleting board, a dramatic play center, a writing center, tables for manipulative and games, whole
group meeting area, a computer area and an art area. There was also on a wall a picture of every single
child with his and her names. My visit was from 10:30 to 12:30. When I first arrived, children were in
a transition from one activity to another. The next activity was to watch an ABC phonics video. All the
children knew what they have to do. They had to sit nicely and quiet on the floor. Every single child
knew how to sit. They crossed their legs and put their hands in their laps. When the teacher saw that
all the children were sitting properly, she assumed that they were ready to learn. During this activity I
observed that Matthew and Jose were not engaged with this activity because they were looking to
other children instead to look to the screen. For the next activity the children had to take a tablet from
a cabinet. I was surprise because every single child knew the number of the tablet they have to take.
Later I noticed that it was because in the classroom every child has a

Beta Risk Analysis
Nearly all investors look to beta as a way of feeling out the risk of a stock or fund. Put simply, beta
measures volatility, or the tendency to swing up and down, as compared to a benchmark. Fund
managers that take a bullish stance on the short term horizon may actively stock up on high beta
equities to drive up returns. Controlling beta becomes an obsession for managers; and after they get
the balance just right, they feel confident and reassured in their risk profile. Menchero, Nagy, and
Singh concentrate on three estimates of beta to test the accuracy of the measure overall. The first,
naive beta, makes a gross simplification that all stocks have a beta of 1. Second, the historical beta can
be computed by comparing stock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When charted across the largest financial institutions during the 2008 Financial Crisis, it delivers great
results. It would have targeted Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns, and Lehman
Brothers as the most fragile institutions. Moreover, the model could detect the problems as early as the
first quarter of 2005, making it a promising predictive tool. Such a risk measurement instrument can
be useful for firms of all sizes: from medium to large scale funds, to the largest institutional
investment houses.
Danielsson and De Vries explain how predictions of low probability, worst case outcomes are
extremely poor using Value at Risk. These, importantly, are the most influential events that deserve the
most attention. Such a blind spot is unacceptable. As such, they offer an alternative: an extreme value
estimator. When tested against VaR and historical simulations far out in the tails, it performs much
better in locating the depths of a negative shock. It charts tails according to particular parametric
distributions, develop[ing] a straightforward rule for obtaining multi period VaR from the single
period VaR. It is still fraught with several problems, but makes much more realistic assumptions about
the distribution of stock market returns. Moreover, it more closely mimics the actual returns of the
market.

When investing in a term deposit, the individual must invest a minimum of $5000. This sum of money
can be kept in a term deposit for as little as 1 month or as long as 5 years. A term deposit has a low
rate of risk, so the invested money is guaranteed to earn interest over a period of time. However, since
it is a fixed rate, investment returns are likely to be minimal. This negative is counterbalanced by the
absolute security of this investment contract. Returns will be comparable to those from non fixed rates
depending on the economic environment. Additionally, this investment is a suitable option for young
people as it allows them to redraw the money after the maturity date. With the expenses that typically
arise when starting a home or family, it is likely that the ability to access this fund after the investment
has ceased would provide a major financial benefit. This money cannot be accessed throughout the
investment period, ensuring that the sum cannot be spent. Interest on a term deposit is compounded
every 4 weeks, 6 months or yearly, depending on the preference of the individual. The individual must
also decide on a plan for interest returns, which can either be deposited into a personal bank account
or added to the rem deposit sum. This latter option is financially preferable, as the larger the funds in
the deposit, the greater the interest returns. 2.3 Aggressive Option Shares

Importance Of The Right To Bear Arms
One American Ideal that is essential to our Democracy is the right to bear arms. This principle comes
from the Second Amendment, which states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of
a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. This is one of the
most important right because it keeps the government from becoming a dictatorship or tyranny. With
this right the people of the United States have the right to protect themselves. This amendment, keeps
the government from taking our rights because we can revolt. Throughout history people have gone
through times of being unarmed when the government or a higher power is trying to take over. The

Historical Perspectives of Abnormal Psychology
For many years, various forms of madness have been noted in every culture. Multitudes of theories, as
well as some myths, have been developed to explain such conditions. Society s opinion on what was
considered abnormal was based on such phenomenon as paranormal forces, the anger of the gods, the
influence of the moon, unstable personality, hereditary factors, and debauchery (Frude, 1998). History
shows that theorists continue to develop a variety of theories to explain psychological disorders. These
theories usually fall in one of three basic categories: mystical/supernatural (possession of ... Show

Scientific advances in mental illness were virtually nonexistent during the Middle Ages. Spiritual
causes ruled, and those with psychological disorders were classified as morally weak, or were accused
of forbidden practices, such as those associated with witchery, sorcery, and the devil (Damour Hansell,
2005). Witch hunts were more common at the height of the 14th and 15th centuries in Europe,
accusing many of the mentally ill of practicing witchcraft. Various attempts were made over the years
to encourage just treatment of the mentally ill, and various voices of reason attempted to eliminate the
stigma of abnormal behavior.
Emil Kraepelin began using scientific methods to classify mental disorders by concentrating on the
biological characteristics of mental disorders (Frude, 1998). Kraepelin s approach resulted in a closer
alliance between psychiatry and medicine, believing that a chemical imbalance was to blame for
schizophrenia and that a metabolism abnormality caused manic depression (Frude, 1998). Numerous
core concepts in psychology have influenced explanations of abnormal behavior. Models for
explaining abnormal behavior throughout history (historical relativism), and the principle of stressing
the assimilation of different perspectives (multiple causality) have helped differentiate between
predisposing and precipitating causes of abnormal behavior. The connection between mind and body
has become the most modern model, signifying that both biological

Olympic Games Pros And Cons
Hosting the Olympic Games is a massive risk that cities all around the world are willing to take. While
many people assume that hosting the Games is a way out a debt, it can also be just the opposite. There
are many factors that contribute to the overall success and failure of hosting the Olympics. For one,
the results differ between cities. Cities within countries that are more economically stable seem to
profit from hosting more than cities in countries that are less developed and economically stable.
Hosting the Summer versus Winter Games can also impact the end results. In general, the Summer
Olympics tend to make a more significant impact, as they are more popular among viewers (Dick and
Wang). Regardless, both the Summer and Winter Olympics unquestionably have both positive and
negative impacts on the community and the citizens of its host city. While hosting the Olympic Games
in U.S. cities has both pros and cons, in the end, the pros drastically outweigh the cons.
Through the twenty eight Summer Games and the twenty three Winter Games, numerous cities have

The Six Cultural Differences Of Barbie In China
Introduction
Mattel attempted to incorporate Barbie into China by opening a Barbie store. The business failed due
to Mattel not researching the market and how to incorporate the products into the Chinese market.
There are many cultural differences that Mattel needed to take into consideration before they
attempted to bring Barbie to China. Problems Mattel Faced
According to Wang (2012), Mattel did not fully understand what Chinese girls and women wanted
from a doll. Femininity is different in China compared to what it can be defined as in the United
States. Mattel opened a large store in Shanghai that not only had Barbie dolls, but also accessories and
activities for consumers such as a runway and dressing rooms. The Barbie doll was not an icon in
China like it has become in the United States and the store suffered because the relevance of Barbie
and associated products was not a part of what the Chinese girls wanted. Six Cultural Issues and
Mattel Performance
Values and Attitudes
The Chinese people want to have relationships with possible business partners before they do business
with them. The Chinese believe in socializing and getting to know people as a way to see what type of
person they will be dealing with. This is called guanxi (Firoz, Nadeem M. Topchaya, Olga, 2016).
Chinese businesses will not focus on efficiency and view change as disruptive to their business. When
Mattel brought the Barbie store into Shanghai, the Chinese people did not know Mattel and how
Mattel would be conducting business in their city. This caused uncertainty and Chinese people not
knowing if they wanted to do business with Mattel.
Dress codes
Chinese women tend to dress more conservatively. Chinese women often do not wear midriff shirts or
plunging necklines, but tend to wear clothes that do not accentuate their body and curves(Aaker
Schmitt, 2001). Barbie is known to have curves and tight fitting clothing that more fits the western
culture.
Marketing styles differences
When marketing in China you need to focus on the consumers getting to know the product before
placing it in stores or opening a new business. The Barbie store opened in a single location in a large
country which could be

Declaration Of Independence Summary
When the Declaration of independence (US 1776) was written, the colonies were in full revolt against
England. The purpose of the document was to announce the colonies separation from England.
Declaration of Independence is infused with the enlightenment ideals of liberty and equality. This
manifesto was a cry for freedom from the tyranny of the King and signaled a new era in world
government. One where the people ruled, rather than Kings and Queens. The Declaration of
Independence, is based on the theory that the government and the governed enter into a contract
whereby the governed give up some rights in exchange for protection from the government. If the
government violates the remaining rights or does not provide the promised protection, the governed
can say the contract is invalid, or not in effect, and end the government. The Declaration of
Independence states the reasons the Colonists believe that England, through George III, had violated
its contract with the Colonies, giving them right reason to declare independence. In every stage of
these oppressions we have petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated petitions ...

for light and transient causes, meaning that the grievances of the colonist regarding the King s abuses
must be so great that it is necessary to take action (Jefferson, 1776). He ends the paragraph with a

Reflection On Early Learning
This reflection reviews my time at Goodstart Early Learning in Kyneton and the four weeks I spent
there during my first practicum round. The review will critically reflect my experience from this
practicum, using readings and learnings my strengthens and weaknesses will be revealed. Strategies
will also be implemented in what areas I need to focus on before my next practicum round.
Something that I observed at the beginning of my practicum were the issues concerning behavioural
guidance. There was a group of four boys who required the greatest assistance, my experience in
managing people and being a parent quickly reminded me in how to best support them. Knowing each
child and what their abilities and interests are enable educators to respond sensitively and
appropriately to each child (Cohrssen, Church, Tayler, 2011). I spoke with my mentor and other
educators and discovered the backgrounds of these boys and reasonings for their behaviours. I learnt
by observing the other educators how these behavioural guidance issues were managed and the many
techniques they used. Something I realised with the learning experiences I conducted was the need to
not speak too quickly and be clear and concise with my instructions. As I have had limited interaction
with young children as my stepchildren are now adults, I was unaccustomed in how to effectively
communicate with young children. At the beginning of my practicum the instructions and direction I
was attempting to provide were too

differences between Buddhism and other religions. Buddhism reached China around the first century
C.E., but Buddhist influence did not largely spread until the fall of the Han Dynasty. China was deeply
Confucian in the first century, and resisted the presence of Buddhism due to the many differences
between the basic beliefs of each religion. The Chinese population reacted differently to Buddhism
depending on personal beliefs, which led to disagreement and conflict.
Buddhism caused many positive responses throughout China, especially during times of political
instability. Buddhism increased in popularity as the enforcement of laws in China decreased ... Show

China was greatly influenced by Confucian beliefs, especially during the Han Dynasty. Confucianists
believe the key to harmony is good morals throughout society and the acceptance and respect of
unequal relationships. Chinese Confucianists thought that society would run smoothly, as long as each
person completed their respective tasks. Tang Emperor Wu stated that Buddhism allowed monks and
nuns to not do their part in society, and therefore Buddhism needed to be eradicated from Chinese
society (Document 6). Emperor Wu s point of view does not reflect the viewpoint of the lower classes,
especially Buddhist supporters, because he is an emperor who lives a lavish life. Emperor Wu fully
supports Confucianism and has been educated using Confucian beliefs throughout his life, which
further influences his negative opinion on Buddhism expressed in the proclamation. The unequal
relationships between ruler and subject, or father and son, were present throughout Chinese society
and were important to the success of the empire. Han Yu, a Confucian scholar, explained that the
Buddha did not conform to Chinese laws or understand the unequal relationships present in Chinese
culture, in order to convince the population that Buddhism does not belong in China (Document 4).
The intended audience of the statement by Han Yu is the Chinese upper class in order to prevent
further conversion and acceptance of Buddhism. Confucianism was most popular among the upper
classes, due to the extensive education the wealthy received based on Confucianism. Negative
responses were common among the Chinese population due to the many differences between Buddhist
and Confucian

Vimy Ridge Significance
Almost half a year ago, the great war was won by Canada and her allies overseas; Germany surrender
ed, and our men and women came home victorious. Since then, we have embraced our returning
soldiers with tears and great pride, while also acknowledging the sacrifices made to gain the peace we
have now. Throughout the four years of the war, Canada always fought bravely, despite the overall
loss of more than 60,000 soldiers. Indeed, Canada played a pivotal role in the success of multiple
battles, notably the Battle of Ypres, and the capture of Vimy Ridge. The Battle of Ypres: The first
battle where Canadians entered the front line took place from April 22nd to 24th in 1915, in Belgium.

12th, 1917, the Canadian infantry was sent to seize Vimy Ridge, an advantageous area heavily
protected by the Germans. They did not disappoint. Following the French s failed attempt to capture
this land, sustaining over 100,000 casualties, the Canadians wanted to leave nothing to chance. The
Vimy Ridge take over was carefully planned, and strategically executed. After the high number of
deaths in the Somme offensive, Arthur Currie, a senior Canadian officer, and British general, Julian

Three Eyewear Choices
Vision is the most important of the five senses for driving. Without it, you would go off the road or hit
another car in a matter of seconds. It s why a vision test is required when getting a driver s license for
the first time and for renewals. However, the eyewear choices that drivers make, profoundly affect
their safety on the road, sometimes for the worse. Here are three eyewear choices that increase the risk
of a car accident:
Wearing the Wrong Sunglasses Tints
Sunglasses normally make driving safer because they protect the driver from sun glare. However,
choosing the wrong tint color can increase the risk of an accident because it distorts the driver s
perception of color. This interferes with their ability to recognize the color of

Evaluation Of A Strategic Management Process
Introduction
Most organizations put in place a strategic management process in order to identify long term
objectives and put in place action plans that will contribute to the achievement of these long term
objectives. The feedback control model is one of the many model used by management in order to
meet strategic goals by monitoring and regulating the organizations activities (Daft, 2016, p.661). The
provided feedback is used to determine if employees have met the standards or objectives set before
them through their performance. This model is comprised of four steps: establishment of standards,
measurement of standards, performance comparison in relation to standards and finally corrective
actions, when necessary. This paper will analyze the Five Stars case in relation to these four key steps.
Feedback Control System
The feedback control system was used in the Five Stars case in order to address the issue of teacher
accountability regarding students. The department of education wanted to ensure that student were
able to progress in their education despite their school system. Let s examine each step of the system
in relation to the Five Stars case.
Establishing Standards. The strategic management plan is comprised of long term and short term
objectives that designed around the vision of the organization. Managers have the responsibility of
setting up standards that must be followed by employees. According to Daft (2016), these standards

Social Implications Of A Negative Impact On The World
I know many of my friends that have encountered a situation that caused negative social implications.
They would upload personal information to sharing websites such as the well known one, www.ask.fm
or Facebook. Every piece of data they would decide to share to the world enabled people from
anywhere to read and acknowledge the information about them which could have put them in potential
danger to threats that would complicate their lives. Since they decided to do so, future employers may
have had the chance to find out about this information which contained personal data, inappropriate
language and dangerous actions. This could have prevented them from receiving/applying for a part
time, or register for college, or at the extremes suspend them from attending school. After a speaker
about online networking visited our school, his speech had a positive influence on some of my friends
where they then proceeded to delete the comments/pictures from the websites and off of their accounts
which cleared some of the tension between certain people. Some ways to prevent social implications
from having a negative impact on yourself, family, friends or the wider community is to think before
you post something on digital platforms that has the potential to harm yourself or one another.
Initiative must be used before uploading information or pictures about yourself or others by following
simple steps such as asking yourself: is it true, will I benefit from it, will it offend someone,

The Kumeyaay People of California Essay
THE KUMEYAAY PEOPLE OF CALIFORNIA by Your Name (boldface) ANTH 100: Non Western

In my quest to study the life of the ancient California inhabitants, I visited the San Diego Museum of
Man which is an anthropological museum situated in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. The
museum was established in the year 1915 as a result of the Panama California Exposition where
several exhibits were displayed with The Story of Man through Ages being the first. At the
culmination of the exposition, San Diego Museum Association sought to retain the available collection
and start a permanent museum. As a result, the collection was named Museum of Man in ... Show

Among the artifacts available on the second floor of the museum there are bows and arrows.
Moreover, a visitor can see sharp stones in the collection of artifacts; these are familiar to those that
were used in the Stone Age. Most of the stones resemble the Oldowan tools that were found in
Lokalalei in Kenya; some other also resemble the Hand axe found in Bose in China. In display were
other wooden domestic equipment such as wooden pestle and mortar, a spade and a spear. Pottery was
not left out of the exhibition as there were several pots, weaving was represented by the skin thread
and a hat. Finally, necklaces and other valuable ornaments were in this part of the museum too. 3)
Lifeway of the Kumeyaay People a) Hunters and gatherers In this section, I will analyze the culture of
the Kumeyaay people taking into regard the artifacts available in the museum. To begin with, the bow
and arrows could have been used for two main reasons. The first is for hunting wild game. Wild game
was a source of food to many ancient communities around the world. On one of the printouts in the
museum, I read that the Kumeyaay used to hunt along the coast as well as in the inland and rabbit was
their main source of meat. The arrows were made from cane and straightened in soap stone. Secondly,
bows and arrows were most likely used for protection purposes. The two tools are occasionally made
from wood and have been in use for a long period of

The Border Patrol State Summary
Leslie Marmon Silko is a Tucson based Laguna Pueblo fiction author and poet. Having been based in
the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and checkpoints.
In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol State, was published in The Nation magazine.
In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US
Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these
arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As a
result, Silko s essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and ethos.
Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree with her. For
example people who lean left politically, people living in the area and may have possibly gone through
a similar experience, and minorities. The first reason being where it was published The Nation. The
nation is considered to be the flagship of the political left (The Nation 9) as seen in The Nation s about

or may already agree. She seems to appeal more to minorities, noting the more frequent stoppage of
Chicanos and Asians. She also states the fact that she is a minority herself, being Native American.
Her style is unique in that it has the feeling of a story. The first reason being her use of anecdotal

were diluted to 1: 10 substance: mobile phase. A stock solution of caffeine was diluted 1:50. A
sequence of diluted caffeine solutions were prepared for use as a standard (ppm): 1, 2, 4, and 10.
Solutions of acetaminophen, acetylsalicylic acid, and Goody s Powder were developed to differentiate
chromatographic peaks observed. These solutions were subjected to HPLC for examination of the
observed peak area and retention time for the set of compounds. Comparison of retention time allowed
for the differentiation of peaks observed. The peak area obtained was utilized to determine the relative
concentration of caffeine present in Goody s Powder based on the relationship obtained in the
standard. The content of caffeine present in Goody s Powder by percent weight was identified.

which is major gap and this shows though china is having more GDP number but it s not as strong as
the US economy and that is a positive indication for the US. Currently China is over capitalized and

Essay On The Australian Industrial Relation System
The Australian industrial relations system has historically been highly influenced and regulated
through the process of arbitration and conciliation (Reference). In the early 20th century arbitration
and conciliation was determined through tribunals and industry based awards which determined wages
and employment conditions. Conciliation and arbitration was highly dependent on the influence and
power of trade union membership within the workplace. Since the early 1900 s the arbitration and
conciliation process has been replaced with an industrial relations system which has been consistent
with the decline of union membership to 28 percent of the workforce (reference) This has resulted in

Parent Relationships And Its Effect On A Child s Development
Parent relationships play a huge role in a child s development. A child learns what is appropriate, how
to behave, and are shown what a healthy marriage looks like. If their parent s relationship concludes in
divorce, they will not see a truly successful relationship, causing the child to have some short and long
term effects that can hinder them in their life. Homosexual marriage also has some lasting effects on a
child because of the irregular parenting style in a society where heterosexual marriage is most
common. Divorce and homosexual marriage can create potential adverse short and long term effects,
demonstrating that heterosexual marriage is in the best interest of the children.
Many children go through a divorce at some point in their life. Statistics show that in a year,
approximately one million children under eighteen experience their parent s divorce; putting it into
perspective, this is about forty percent of children (Matthews 1). Since 1960, the divorce rate has been
doubling just about every decade until 1990, and currently has leveled off at that rate (Gallagher 1).

children of a divorce eighteen months, five, ten, fifteen and twenty five years after the divorce of their

Defense Against Abortion
Thomson s article A Defense Against Abortion does raise several interesting, if abstract, moral
questions. Thomson believes that even if a fetus is fully human and in possession of certain rights, the
rights of the child should not be imposed on a woman s liberty. This question of freedom and basic
human rights pervades every side of Thomson s argument and creates another set of ethical
considerations for us to consider. These considerations raise many interesting questions. Is there a
different moral obligation to your child than to a stranger? Is allowing someone to die different from
purposefully causing them to die? Is liberty limitless or should we be morally obligated to give up that
liberty when others are in danger? These questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis J. Beckwith, a philosopher and professor at Baylor University, claims that Thomson is
assuming a philosophical stance that appears to be correct only because it denies the entire position of
those against abortion. Beckwith claims Thomson s position to be one of moral duty only when you
have chosen them. Truly, Thomson must not see the fetus as human as we can visibly see in the
unspoken beliefs that cloud her analogies. Such as in the case of the intruder in the house, Thomson
implies that no one would argue the right to remove, even if it includes serious harm, a burglar from
their own home. Yet, Beckwith argues that this premise undermines the entire position of fetus as
human since anyone knows intruders come in a variety of types. He takes the stand that a fetus is not a
knowing intruder, but instead a non willing inhabitant of the only environment that is designed to
shelter, feed, and sustain him, with his presence there being the consequence of agents having engaged
in an act intrinsically ordered to bring such beings into existence. Thus, if Thomson was truly taking
the perspective of the fetus as human, her analogies would not view the fetus as less than human or a
simple annoyance, but would take the stand of the fetus as a child with basic human

What Does Voltaire Criticize Candide
While Voltaire has so far criticized war directly through depiction of war he often does it in a more
subtle manner. Candide and Cacambo arrive at Paraguay to fight for the Jesuits but are instead
disarmed and told to wait for the Commandant. Them a sergeant tells them that neither the
Commandant or reverend Father Provincial would talk to a Spaniard or allow one to Stay above three

Spaniard. The sergeant then goes and gets the reverend commandant who says God be praised. Since

When Candide and Cacambo arrive at El Dorado they see children playing with gold and jewels and

gold on the floor and return to their school. Afterwards, Candide and Cacambo try returning what they
think is valuable jewels and gold but when they presented it the schoolmaster, smiling, flung them
upon the ground (Voltaire 41) The stupidity for wealth in the Old World is displayed because it shows
that the only reason the gold and other jewels has any real value is because people put intrinsic value
into is when it is worthless. As it is displayed that these precious gems and stones are no more than
rocks to play with to the people of El Dorado it shows the ideocracy of those in the Old World who
often fight and kill over these rocks. War... we owe to the fancy of two or three thousand persons
scattered over the globe under the name of princes and ministers (Voltaire against war 1) These
princes and ministers are those who start these wars which is mostly to obtain wealth and hence it
shows how war is in essence pointless since it is fought over the value of rocks which the princes and
ministers say is worth. Also while in El Dorado there is a very explicit criticism of war by the king of
El Dorado. The kingdom we now inhabit is the ancient country of the Incas, who quitted it very
imprudently to conquer another part of the world, and were at length destroyed by the Spaniards
(Voltaire 43) here the is speaking of how the greed of the Incas to go conquer other areas eventually
led to them being destroyed. This is a way of comparing war in the New and Old World in the New

Volunteers are one of the most important things in youth sports. Because without volunteers there can
t be any games played or practices, and the kids won t get any better. Youth sports are important to the
kids because it helps kids be able to work as a team better and work together with other kids, it helps
them get better at the sport they re playing, and it teaches them discipline and dedication. And, the
better the kids get from playing in youth sport organizations, the higher chance they will have to

can set people up to possibly play that sport for the rest of their life. Volunteers do a lot just so the kids
can have a good time and learn more skills about a sport. Most pf the people that are involved with a
sports organization do it for free and for the kids, if there wasn t volunteers, there s no sports. For

The devil s role as the inspiration for rock and roll is already well documented and commonly
understood. Perhaps less well documented is the role of the Devil as inspiration for literature. The
Devil has played an active role in literature for quite a while with his name appearing in stories for
centuries.
The historical devil has not always been personified. Initially, in religious settings, he was represented

plot (unlike Paradise Lost).7 The devil had taken a new form in literature and other storytellers took to
this incarnation.
By characterizing the devil as a person (most commonly a man), authors endowed him with
significant qualities signifying qualities, really, many of which are recycled in The Devil Went Down

The articles, however, may vary from researcher to researcher. As such, this paper will also detail the different theories about the usefulness of dreams. This paper will also take time to explain what a dream is, when dreams happen, and what their potential purposes may be. To start this paper, we first must understand what a dream is. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a dream is a series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during sleep . Dreams take the things we see during our waking hours and translate them into unique, sometimes horrifying, and possibly meaningful ways. Sigmund Freud attempted to understand what dreams meant; he thought that dreams were safeguards attempt deeper and darker desires from the human mind s id. Decades later, scientist John Allan Hobson theorized that dreams are a result of the brain attempting to interpret random electrical impulses within the brain, producing often elaborate and vivid details and plots while we sleep. • 3. Cain Was The Firstborn Of Adam And Eve Essay Cain was the firstborn of Adam and Eve. In him were deposited all the desires of restoration of the original state of the man and mainly of the state of intimate communion with God the all powerful. Therefore, Cain shows himself to be a person who did not please God with his offerings, because his motivation was different from the motivation of his brother Abel, as he sought to present the best of his flock to the Lord as we can see at Genesis 4:3 5 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell . It happened at the end of a time Cain brought from the fruit of the earth an offering to the Lord; Abel, for his part, brought of the firstfruits of his flock and the fat thereof. The Lord of Abel and his offering were pleased; While Cain and his offering were not pleased. It is understood that Cain would have offered an offer thankfully and not voluntarily as was the case of Abel. This form of offering of Cain displeased the Lord, who came to pay attention to Abel s offering. Writing about the punishment God applied to Cain, which was intended to lead him to repentance, shows how much his heart was blacked out by sin and rebellion against the Creator. But nevertheless punishment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Twelfth Night, the characters who prove this are Olivia and Sir Andrew. Olivia has fallen in love with the fake man Cesario , and Sir Andrew is deliberately trying to woo Olivia through foolish and pathetic ways. Twelfth Night demonstrates that women are weak and are able to fall in love easily, due to their gullibility when it comes to love. This was shown as Olivia was able to fall in love with fake man Cesario , who was truly Viola in disguise. Sassy Fox Website Analysis Design Even if a website has good information architecture and content, poor design can take away from the two elements and negatively affect the usability of the site. According to Johnson, successful web design is minimalistic and easily readable with font choices and color palettes (39). The design of Sassy Fox s website is either extremely busy and misleads users or is minimalistic to a fault. Examples of these extremes are the website s header and user forms. Analysis Of Black Swan And Shutter Island Martin Scorsese and Darren Aronofsky are talented directors who have created many award winning films that incorporate certain techniques used to enhance the audience s experience of the film, some of their directorial techniques include symbolism, costume, lighting and dialogue. In both Shutter Island and Black Swan symbolism is featured profoundly throughout which gives the audience the chance to look for the deeper meaning in what they are viewing. The use of a number of different techniques such as costume and props displays hidden meaning in the film to the viewers and how this is expressed could hit certain levels of the psychological and emotional labyrinth that all of us have according to Scorsese. Symbolism in these films helps the audience understand the effects of mental illness by the cues shown such as the plaster on Teddy s forehead and the scratch on Nina s back, the more obscure cues given show that Teddy is a figment of imagination in Andrews mind and becoming a real black swan is also a figment of imagination in Nina s mind. With the influence of mannerism in Renaissance , the composition of the figures intertwine and create not just complex composition but a dynamic three dimensional space. Both of the child have its left leg stepping forward, however, because of the diagonal composition in the Dolci painting and the depth expressed by the diagonal accent, it enhances the three dimensional effect. Dolci s composition is also more unified meaning the subjects form a dynamic composition relationship. There is more variation of postures in the painting and their limbs, accessories are more intertwined. The scene seems more like a happening than a positioned, still portrait. Romano s composition of the space seem to be more layer based and there are less spatial relationships between the figures. Dolci also introduced a new technique by cropping the image of the subjects with a slight highlighted line. This new technique is unique in a way that it restraint the subject in another area than the frame. This enhances the three dimensional effect evermore, giving the illusion as if the viewer would peek into the space inside of the painting, instead of looking directly at the image and associating it with areas outside of the painting such as a frame which naturally limits space and create a barrier between the viewer and the subjects in painting ... Multitudes of theories, as well as some myths, have been developed to explain such conditions. Society s opinion on what was considered abnormal was based on such phenomenon as paranormal forces, the anger of the gods, the influence of the moon, unstable personality, hereditary factors, and debauchery (Frude, 1998). History shows that theorists continue to develop a variety of theories to explain psychological disorders. Scientific advances in mental illness were virtually nonexistent during the Middle Ages. Spiritual causes ruled, and those with psychological disorders were classified as morally weak, or were accused of forbidden practices, such as those associated with witchery, sorcery, and the devil (Damour Hansell, 2005). Witch hunts were more common at the height of the 14th and 15th centuries in Europe, accusing many of the mentally ill of practicing witchcraft. Various attempts were made over the years to encourage just treatment of the mentally ill, and various voices of reason attempted to eliminate the stigma of abnormal behavior. Emil Kraepelin began using scientific methods to classify mental disorders by concentrating on the biological characteristics of mental disorders (Frude, 1998). Kraepelin s approach resulted in a closer alliance between psychiatry and medicine, believing that a chemical imbalance was to blame for schizophrenia and that a metabolism abnormality caused manic depression (Frude, 1998). Numerous core concepts in psychology have influenced explanations of abnormal behavior. Models for explaining abnormal behavior throughout history (historical relativism), and the principle of stressing the assimilation of different perspectives (multiple causality) have helped differentiate between predisposing and precipitating causes of abnormal behavior. The business failed due to Mattel not researching the market and how to incorporate the products into the Chinese market. There are many cultural differences that Mattel needed to take into consideration before they attempted to bring Barbie to China. Problems Mattel Faced According to Wang (2012), Mattel did not fully understand what Chinese girls and women wanted from a doll. Femininity is different in China compared to what it can be defined as in the United States. Mattel opened a large store in Shanghai that not only had Barbie dolls, but also accessories and activities for consumers such as a runway and dressing rooms. The Barbie doll was not an icon in China like it has become in the United States and the store suffered because the relevance of Barbie and associated products was not a part of what the Chinese girls wanted. Six Cultural Issues and Mattel Performance Values and Attitudes The Chinese people want to have relationships with possible business partners before they do business with them. The Chinese believe in socializing and getting to know people as a way to see what type of person they will be dealing with. This is called guanxi (Firoz, Nadeem M. Topchaya, Olga, 2016). Chinese businesses will not focus on efficiency and view change as disruptive to their business. When Mattel brought the Barbie store into Shanghai, the Chinese people did not know Mattel and how Mattel would be conducting business in their city. This caused uncertainty and Chinese people not knowing if they wanted to do business with Mattel. Dress codes Chinese women tend to dress more conservatively. The feedback control model is one of the many model used by management in order to meet strategic goals by monitoring and regulating the organizations activities (Daft, 2016, p.661). The provided feedback is used to determine if employees have met the standards or objectives set before them through their performance. This model is comprised of four steps: establishment of standards, measurement of standards, performance comparison in relation to standards and finally corrective actions, when necessary. This paper will analyze the Five Stars case in relation to these four key steps. • 26. Social Implications Of A Negative Impact On The World I know many of my friends that have encountered a situation that caused negative social implications. They would upload personal information to sharing websites such as the well known one, www.ask.fm or Facebook. Every piece of data they would decide to share to the world enabled people from anywhere to read and acknowledge the information about them which could have put them in potential danger to threats that would complicate their lives. Since they decided to do so, future employers may have had the chance to find out about this information which contained personal data, inappropriate language and dangerous actions. This could have prevented them from receiving/applying for a part time, or register for college, or at the extremes suspend them from attending school. After a speaker about online networking visited our school, his speech had a positive influence on some of my friends where they then proceeded to delete the comments/pictures from the websites and off of their accounts which cleared some of the tension between certain people. Some ways to prevent social implications from having a negative impact on yourself, family, friends or the wider community is to think before you post something on digital platforms that has the potential to harm yourself or one another. Initiative must be used before uploading information or pictures about yourself or others by following simple steps such as asking yourself: is it true, will I benefit from it, will it offend someone, ... James Nov. 10, 2014 INTRODUCTION In my quest to study the life of the ancient California inhabitants, I visited the San Diego Museum of Man which is an anthropological museum situated in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. The museum was established in the year 1915 as a result of the Panama California Exposition where several exhibits were displayed with The Story of Man through Ages being the first. Most of the stones resemble the Oldowan tools that were found in Lokalalei in Kenya; some other also resemble the Hand axe found in Bose in China. In display were other wooden domestic equipment such as wooden pestle and mortar, a spade and a spear. Pottery was not left out of the exhibition as there were several pots, weaving was represented by the skin thread and a hat. Finally, necklaces and other valuable ornaments were in this part of the museum too. 3) Lifeway of the Kumeyaay People a) Hunters and gatherers In this section, I will analyze the culture of the Kumeyaay people taking into regard the artifacts available in the museum. To begin with, the bow and arrows could have been used for two main reasons. The first is for hunting wild game. Wild game was a source of food to many ancient communities around the world. On one of the printouts in the museum, I read that the Kumeyaay used to hunt along the coast as well as in the inland and rabbit was their main source of meat. The arrows were made from cane and straightened in soap stone. Secondly, bows and arrows were most likely used for protection purposes. Having been based in the southwestern area since 1978, she began to notice the increase in border security and checkpoints. In 1994, her essay, The Border Patrol State, was published in The Nation magazine. In it, she explains her concerns and criticisms for the development and enforcement of the US Mexican border, arguing that it is an infringement on the free right to travel. She backs these arguments up with a series of anecdotal accounts and experiences, using few statistical evidence. As a result, Silko s essay becomes very powerful pathos wise, but weak when it comes to logos and ethos. Silko s audience seems to be targeted at people who would likely or already agree with her. For example people who lean left politically, people living in the area and may have possibly gone through a similar experience, and minorities. The first reason being where it was published The Nation. The nation is considered to be the flagship of the political left (The Nation 9) as seen in The Nation s about page. Secondly, her arguments tend to have a one sided feel which works well for people who would or may already agree. She seems to appeal more to minorities, noting the more frequent stoppage of Chicanos and Asians. She also states the fact that she is a minority herself, being Native American. A child learns what is appropriate, how to behave, and are shown what a healthy marriage looks like. If their parent s relationship concludes in divorce, they will not see a truly successful relationship, causing the child to have some short and long term effects that can hinder them in their life. Homosexual marriage also has some lasting effects on a child because of the irregular parenting style in a society where heterosexual marriage is most common. Divorce and homosexual marriage can create potential adverse short and long term effects, demonstrating that heterosexual marriage is in the best interest of the children. Many children go through a divorce at some point in their life. Thomson believes that even if a fetus is fully human and in possession of certain rights, the rights of the child should not be imposed on a woman s liberty. This question of freedom and basic human rights pervades every side of Thomson s argument and creates another set of ethical considerations for us to consider. These considerations raise many interesting questions. Is there a different moral obligation to your child than to a stranger? Is allowing someone to die different from purposefully causing them to die? Is liberty limitless or should we be morally obligated to give up that liberty when others are in danger? These questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Francis J. Beckwith, a philosopher and professor at Baylor University, claims that Thomson is assuming a philosophical stance that appears to be correct only because it denies the entire position of those against abortion. Beckwith claims Thomson s position to be one of moral duty only when you have chosen them. Truly, Thomson must not see the fetus as human as we can visibly see in the unspoken beliefs that cloud her analogies. Such as in the case of the intruder in the house, Thomson implies that no one would argue the right to remove, even if it includes serious harm, a burglar from their own home. Yet, Beckwith argues that this premise undermines the entire position of fetus as human since anyone knows intruders come in a variety of types. He takes the stand that a fetus is not a knowing intruder, but instead a non willing inhabitant of the only environment that is designed to shelter, feed, and sustain him, with his presence there being the consequence of agents having engaged in an act intrinsically ordered to bring such beings into existence. Thus, if Thomson was truly taking the perspective of the fetus as human, her analogies would not view the fetus as less than human or a simple annoyance, but would take the stand of the fetus as a child with basic human ... Perhaps less well documented is the role of the Devil as inspiration for literature. The Devil has played an active role in literature for quite a while with his name appearing in stories for centuries. The historical devil has not always been personified. With this final development, the devil was almost ready for the Charlie Daniels Band, but first he had to be fine tuned. The first important literary work in the devil s modern development was Milton s Paradise Lost. Although the devil s battle takes place in his earliest arena, Heaven, he is somewhat anthropomorphic, suspiciously human in anatomy but also bearing wings, horns, and hooves. Next was Goethe s Faust, whose title character is tempted by an under demon, Mephistopheles, to whom he submits. Later, just as his contract with the devil is about to run out, Faust turns to God to escape damnation and repents. Although it had drawn from Theophilus, a medieval text, Faustus originality lies in its non biblical plot (unlike Paradise Lost).7 The devil had taken a new form in literature and other storytellers took to this incarnation.
