The Effects Of Religious Discrimination In Australia
Religious beliefs are an important aspect of many people s lives. Results of the latest national census
have revealed the religiously diverse nation that Australia has become (ABS 2017). The religious
makeup of Australia has gradually changed over the past 50 years with Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam and
Buddhism all increasingly common beliefs as can be seen in figure 1.
Religious discrimination is defined as the unfavourable treatment of a person because of his or her
religious beliefs. Furthermore, this extends to involve mistreatment of someone due to their marriage
to or association with an individual of a particular religion (EOC 2014; pers. comm. Cooper 2017).
Whilst Australia s religious diversity begins to grow so too does the concern of the reported incidents
of religious discrimination impacting the lives of people of many different religions in Australia. It is
important to understand the impact this discrimination has in order to address the issue.
The Effect of Religious Discrimination in Australia
A decade long national study conducted by the University of Western Sydney found that nearly half of
Australians describe themselves as having anti Muslim attitudes (Veiszadeh 2015). Islamophobia and
alike attitudes can have deeply hurtful effects and create considerable fear within religious
communities. It also may serve to erect barriers between different religious communities in Australia.

Hypocrisy In Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass was a freed slave in the 1800 s who was famous for his ability to read and write,
uncommon of a black man at the time. On July 4th, 1852, he gave a speech to citizens of the United
States. In this speech, he called out the hypocrisy of the nation (Douglass), questioning the nation s
treatment of slaves on a supposed day of independence. Frederick Douglass effectively uses rhetorical
strategies to construct his argument and expose the hypocrisy of the nation. One of the rhetorical
strategies that Douglass uses extremely effectively is the use of rhetorical questions. He has many of
them scattered throughout the speech and they re meant to make the audience question the nation and
their own ways. He begins by asking Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He proclaims that in the name of humanity... liberty... the Constitution and the Bible... are disregarded
and trampled upon (Douglass). These are all things that white and black people, slaves and freemen
alike have in common, but are unreasonable and unrealistic when they only seem to apply to one side,
the white men. This is hypocritical in that the white men make these values and traditions a staple of
their lives, yet when it comes to slaves, they seem to go away. He also believes that, though he will
use the severest language (Douglass) he can, he firmly believes that not one word shall escape me that
any man whose... not blinded by prejudice, or... a slave holder, shall not confess to be right and just
(Douglass). So he sincerely believes that the average human being also knows that the treatment of
slaves is unjust and unethical, but they choose not to act on these thoughts. His view, coming from the
eyes and thoughts of slaves across America, show how hypocritical the nation actually is in both one
sided values and not acting upon their knowledge that what is going on is

Free Will
The Concept of Free Will Free will is the ability to make your choices in life without having any
consequences. We may feel the existence of free will until we start thinking and then figure out there
really is not. Thus, free will is nothing other than just an illusion. The moment a person is born, they
are confined to a land of law, a set biological makeup, and environmental factors that are beyond their
control. Hence, human beings do not have free will and ultimate responsibilities thus the punishment
for their misdeeds are not justifiable. A human can very well do what he wants, but cannot will what
he wants. Einstein. We, people, consider ourselves as a free being as we think we are capable of
making our choices as per our need and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, we are not responsible for our misdeeds as we do not have free will. Let us take an example of
a computer system. Computers do not have its user makes free will and all its choices. For instance,
the computer you just bought spending lot of money is affected by a virus that duplicates your file and
makes it accessible to other users within the network. Would you shut it down and put it in your
basement for its misdeed holding it responsible or take it to the technician and get it fixed? Another
thing to question would be, if one should be punished for misdeeds if they are mentally ill. People that
are mentally ill do not have the capability of functioning in the society like most other people do. This
is due to impairments of the brain that is way beyond anyone s control. In some court cases, this
disability is highly considered. If the criminal does not have the free will to perform these misdeeds,
how can they be held accountable for such wrong

Demand Of Demand And Demand Essay
Demand Determinants The concept of demand is derived from the willingness and ability of
consumers to buy goods or services at a particular time depending on prices and preferences. In most
cases, the demand for goods and services depends on the affordability and comfort of consumers to
purchase them, while holding other factors as constant (Hubbard O Brien, p. 70 2013). Basic
economic concepts of demand state that an increase in price affects the demand in a negative way; as
prices of gasoline increase, the demand should go down. The concept or law of demand is focused on
the correlation between the price of gasoline and the quantity of demand for the product. From my
observation, consumers are constantly looking for ways to minimize their consumption of gasoline.
This century, motorists are opting for fuel efficient automobiles with the aim of reducing their overall
fuel consumption. The theoretical concept of price adjustment by gasoline consumers can affect Edgar
s idea to open a retail gas station. Whenever retail fuel prices increase, in the long run, consumers may
retaliate by cutting off the frequency of gas consumption by reducing time spent driving, reduce the
number of times they use their car and other methods that will save them from using more money in
gas stations. In the short run, the change in price of gasoline per gallon is not sufficiently volatile to
affect consumption significantly. The graph below shows U.S. National Average in gasoline prices

Current-Day Liberia Research Paper
This paper explores the environmental policies of current day Liberia. Emphasis is placed on post civil
war rule of law, personal waste disposal and infrastructure. In order to relay a sense of environmental
policies in Liberia, this paper touches on the economy of Liberia as well as the basic demographics.
An attempt is also made to touch on the disparity between conservation and a third world population
concerned chiefly with survival. Title of Paper
Liberia, commonly known for diseases such as Ebola and cholera and also known as home to such
notorious figures as General Butt Naked, a mass murderer and cannibal, is a nation recovering from
two recent civil wars on the northwest shore of Africa. The total landmass, consisting of 111,369
square kilometers; is roughly the size of the state of Virginia. In addition to having a long stretch of
coastline along the North Atlantic Ocean, about 13% of the landmass is aquatic. With this in mind, the
population density based on June estimates is 4,092,310, per square kilometer of usable landmass,
which equates to about 43 persons per square kilometer of usable landmass. Ecologically speaking,
Liberia is home to a multitude of diverse species, including around 500 unique avian species. In
addition to this, the land is rich in natural resources, both in the form of timber and minerals. Notably,
there are large deposits of minerals, with rich deposits of diamond ore (Agency, 2013).
Demographically speaking, Liberia is home to over

Importance Of Psychological Theories In Five BellsAndFive...
The crossing of boundaries is always psychologically challenging and confronting for an individual.
What do you think?
The crossing of boundaries is psychologically challenging and confronting as it can require an
individual to accept events the way that they occurred and make attempts to move on, which can be
difficult when it involves a traumatic situation. The psychological strain of crossing boundaries is
represented through the texts of Five Bells, by Gail Jones, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and the
graphical novel Maus.
The crossing of a boundary can take a large toll on an individual, particularly when they are not able
to cross it. One type of boundary that is particularly challenging for an individual to cross is that of
their past and their current self. To find self forgiveness, an individual needs to be able to cross the
boundary out of their memories of the past and move forward with their life. In the novel Five Bells,
the character James struggles with his past immensely. He feels regret at how he left Ellie and their
relationship, and struggles to cross that boundary by meeting with her. James psychological struggle is
shown during his meeting with Ellie as he thinks He must also apologise. He must say sorry. He must
drag sincere words from his heart to his mouth... Of these things, at this time, James said nothing. The
use of internal monologue provides an insight into what is going on in James mind as he attempts to
cross a boundary. He wants to

Liquidity Is A Essential Part Of Any Security Market
Liquidity is a vital part of any security market. Liquidity expense is commonly incorporated with the
cost of a security. Higher liquidity inferred lower holding cost for the bond. Illiquidity suggests that
the investor will bring about higher expense for holding the stock of the said bond. Market liquidity is
influenced by various patterned, auxiliary, and approach related components. Leven however liquidity
estimation is a troublesome errand and subject to discuss yet liquidity in government security markets
is of enthusiasm to policymakers on account of the a wide range of capacities these business sectors

âOf Mice and Menâ is the fictional short novel written by John Steinbeck in 1937. Steinbeckâs

Effects of Crude Oil Prices
Executive Summary What affect does the price of oil and gas have on the economy? How does this
affect the daily lives of the entire population? The preceding questions are the basis for the enclosed
report. The primary objective of this report is to give a few reasons as to what causes prices of oil and
prices of gas to rise. Among these reasons, speculation of things that may or may not happen, like a
terrorist strike, is one of the leading factors. Another reason for the continued rise in prices of oil and
gas is the constant growth that China is experiencing in population and energy consumption. While
each of these natural resources is often spoken of in conjunction with one another, they are very
different commodities with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seemed on plausible to research the knowledge questions within the survey itself to verify what the
actual answers to the questions asked were. The answers for these questions were found from the
Department of Energy, American Petroleum Institute, and presentations from technical experts within
the industry, such as the University of Houston s Michael Economides.
The survey was taken from several University Center students and co workers. While this in no way is
representative of the entire population, it did provide a slice of information necessary for comparison.
The survey was intended to provide an insight into common knowledge of the oil and gas industry and
opinions of those surveyed. The survey included three questions for a demographic baseline, four
questions related to knowledge of the oil and gas industry, and eleven questions of opinion related to
the oil and gas industry. The opinion questions dealt particularly with prices of by products such as
gasoline. A total of forty surveys were conducted.

Oil and natural gas effects consumer s daily lives in aspects of not only petrochemical costs but also
items such as electricity, clothing, and medication. Today the saying has been, as goes oil, so does the
economy but the price of oil has not always been known in this way. Two reasons said to be
responsible for the rising prices in oil have to do with wealthy countries and the fact that predominant

Volunteering In The Surgical Waiting Room
People and onions do not appear to have too much in common. Onions are vegetables and
conveniently have several times more DNA than we do. However, like onions, people, especially the
elderly, have a lot of time under their belt and many layers that require effort and determination to
reach. I want to work with the elderly because I believe that the hard work that it takes to understand
them is rewarding from listening to nostalgic stories of the good ol days to life changing advice that
was gained from decades of experience.

whom are elderly. Talking to them often takes their mind off of waiting for surgery results. Once, I

Alicia Chapter Summaries
The main character in this story is a Jewish girl named Alicia. When the book starts she is ten years
old, she lives in the Polish town of Buczacz with her four brothers, Moshe, Zachary, Bunio, and Herzl,
and her mother and father . The holocaust experience began subtly at first when the Russians began to
occupy Buczacz. When her brother Moshe was killed at a Boys School in Russia and her father was
gathered up by German authorities, the reality of the whole situation quickly became very real. Her
father was taken away shortly after the Russians had moved out and the Germans began to occupy
Buczacz. Once the Germans occupied, they moved the Jewish population of Buczacz into mass
ghettos. Alicia and the rest of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One day Alicia was informed that her brother had been hanged. After Zachary s death, Alicia was
befriended by a woman named Bella. She met many good friends in the ghetto including a future
friend as well as savior, Milek . Months later, Alicia and several other people were rounded up and
sent to a prison in Chortkov. Here the conditions were very poor. Every day more and more people
were taken out and shot. On the inside of the cells it was a cesspool of germs and diseases. Every
morning the jailkeepers would go around the cell and kick people to see if they were still alive. One of
these times Alicia was taken for dead and put onto a wagon with other bodies. The driver of the wagon
found her, nursed her back to better health and then brought her back to the ghetto. During this time,
before, and after she returned to the ghetto attempts to rid the ghettos of Jews were called actions . To
escape being caught by the German police who took part in the actions, they built large bunkers to
hide from their captors. After several of these actions, the Buczacz ghetto had been emptied by more
than half. At this point the time came to move to a new ghetto. Alicia had been in this new ghetto only
a short time when another action occurred. This time Alicia was captured and brought to a mass grave
with a multitude of other Jews. Just when Alicia was

The outbreak of World War II produced a desperate need for computing capability, especially for the
military. New weapons systems were produced which needed trajectory tables and other essential data
(Hitmill).
In 1942, John P. Eckert, John W. Mauchley, and their associates at the University of Pennsylvania
decided to build a high speed electronic computer to do the job. This machine became known as
ENIAC, for Electrical Numerical Integrator And Calculator. It could multiply two numbers at the rate
of 300 products per second, by finding the value of each product from a multiplication table stored in
its memory. ENIAC was thus about 1,000 times faster than the previous generation of computers. It
used 18,000 standard vacuum tubes, occupied 1800 square feet of floor space, used about 180,000
watts of electricity, and used punch card input and output. The ENIAC was very difficult to program
because one had to essentially re wire it to perform whatever task the computer was required to do
(Bellis). It was, however, efficient in handling the particular programs for which it had been designed.
ENIAC is generally accepted as the first successful high speed electronic digital computer and was
used in many applications from 1946 to 1955.
Mathematician John von Neumann was very interested in the ENIAC. In 1945, he undertook a
theoretical study of computation that

High School Admission Essay Sample
The first theatrical production I was ever involved in as a tech crew member, happened by pure
accident. At the end of the school day, a group of friends whisked me away to their drama club
meeting, and at the end of the week I was the only member of that group that remained. That accident
was the genesis of a brand new passion. From starting off as an average stage hand to becoming a full
fledged member of the high school tech program, I was hooked for life.
Since starting in the field of technical theatre, it seems like it s been show after show. A grand total of
fourteen shows in two years, being involved in almost every technical aspect of each show, has
solidified my career decision. No matter how stressful the shows have become, whether it was being
the head costume designer for over 30 students in my second ever show, or creating fully functional

By combining my love of art with a long love of creating my own imaginary dimensional scenes

was given: stage manager, and scenic painter. While managing the show was something I was
completely prepared for, the scenic painting came as a bit of a surprise. I was told to paint a 10ft tall
by 6ft wide group of flats with a doorway cut out into an entryway for the shows haunted house. That
in and of itself wasn t difficult, the time frame however, was. I was given two hours the very night of
the show to paint an entire entrance of my own creation. Miraculously, even with two helpers that had

My Friends And I Speak Nonstandard English
My friends and I speak Nonstandard English because that is what we hear the most because that is
what most of our family speak. We insult each other and sometime we cuss at wach other. For
example when we insult each other we often call one another fat, ugly, and dumb. When we insult
each other it is not meant to hurt one another feelings. Some time our insult can be harsh but that is
how we relieve some stress. Our life is hard when we are at home because we struggle day to day. So
when we get the chance to hang out with each we try to make each other laugh. Also when my friend
and I decided to do something like skip class or go to a party and someone back out we make fun of
them. For example, we will call them scary, wack, or a weenie. We do this for they can feel embarrass
and so they can change their mind about backing out. I make fun of them because when I was little my
sister and brother always made fun of me because I was the youngest so as I got older I wanted to do it
back to other for I can feel like I have the power to change someone s mind.
With my siblings, we tend to use body language when we are out in public. We do this when we want
to talk about someone we don t like and we do not want to say it out loud. For instance, if we see
someone that we do not like we look at each and laugh and look at that person we do not like. Another
example is when we see someone who is wearing something ugly on and they think they are cute, we

The Effect Of Fast Track System On Emergency Department...
Introduction In this paper I will discuss efficacy of fast track system in emergency department across
Ontario, that will influence patient satisfaction, and also identifies practices that can be used in the
Emergency Department. It also provides ways of promising strategies to help Emergency Departments
address patient satisfaction issues more effectively. Each hospital can identify critical issues and
processes and choose strategies to support local needs. By introducing the fast track process in a
hospital, it caters for the patients who have critical conditions and can be attended to within a very
short period. It ends up reducing the extensive waiting time in the emergency room and improves the

The fast track system can be employed at various stages to check for potential outcomes and other
implementations in the healthcare industry. On the operation stage, the system can be used to analyze
the various outcomes of patient flow study. At the strategic stage, fast track system can be used to
monitor the financial gains of an organization and evaluate its commercial health. On the national
stage, it can be used to observe the government programs that address the reduction of wait time for
the patients in the ED s. At the operational stage, it aims to present a concrete analysis of an ED that
exists within a fast track system. Introducing the fast track system was meant to reduce the wait times
in the ED (Yoon, 2003). Reducing the time would allow the increase of the numbers of patients who
come in, get treated, and discharged. It ends up increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the ED.
Increasing the effectiveness and its capacity makes it possible for more patients to be examined and
treated because there is more time in the system. For example, at the Grand River Hospital, there are
several initiatives that are already in place that are targeting to reduce the staying duration of the
patient in the ED. These initiatives include having nurse practitioners in the emergency department,
having a specific fast track area, emergency medical rules that permit nurses to start on

Australian culture nowadays. As a result, people are misusing alcohol in the course of socialising and
celebrating events by binge drinking. This binge drinking culture is becoming a social and economic

Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti Essay
Cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti The poem cousin Kate by Christina Rossetti is about a young girl

marched by me, there was a crisp smell of change in the air. These people knew that things were going

Development And Development Of Developing Nations
We Are The Change
The term Development have been intermittently used to describe the effort to lift up the developing
nations out of poverty and improve their livelihood. Development is a fondness for big goals and the
big plans, however at the same time too rigid to predict what will work in the messy real world. The
problem is, many development initiatives have gone wrong, and continue to. In fact, people who work
in the various sectors of development admit that on a whole development is not working. The reasons
for their failure are numerous, ranging from, history, cultural, colonialists, religion, instability,
corruption, racism, poor leadership, etc.
But who is responsible for our nation development and growth one may ask?
In this paper, I will be focusing on individuals of developing nations role in development since they re
major contributors to growth and capable of more than what we recognize.
What is growth?
We all are familiar with the term growth. Whether from the newspaper, TV. or from social media,
usually involves GDP (gross domestic product) a tool used to measure the growth of a country. It is a
primary indicator used to gauge the health of a country s economy. High GDP means low
unemployment and higher incomes as businesses demand labor to meet the growing economy, and
that reflects on the development of the country, leaving poverty and entering the growth phase (a
constant rate of GDP).
With the lack of the necessary elements of growth comes

Are Cats Smarter Than Dogs
The Egyptians worshipped them, fish fear them, and they own the space around them like kings; cats
are small forces to be reckoned with. Do like cats or dogs? This question has haunted every get to
know me questionnaire ever since I ve been dubbed sufficiently literate enough to know and write
about these needless facts. Why every elementary school teacher saw this question as the optimum
way to ease the first day jitters is beyond me, but I digress. Recently I ve decided that it really isn t a
question of preferring one over the other, but rather it s you like one and respect the other. Dogs are
impossible to not like; they re large puffs of fur that contain about as much intelligence as an infant
while also retaining the endearing quality of I ll love you forever if you pet me . Cats however, are
cold, cunning, and judgmental creatures that refuse to demean themselves with silly things such as
utter devotion. When faced with these two polar opposite creatures, it is clear which one demands
respect. This is why cats are smarter than dogs; it is their self awareness, ability to concoct schemes,
and wholehearted refusal to submit to humans that guarantees them a reputation of intelligence and
prestige. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike dogs, who tend to stick to your side all the time, cats basically go off and do their own thing
until they need something. If you re feeling lonely one day and decide you want to cuddle your cat
there is a 50/50 chance of getting bit or scratch because they weren t feeling especially sensitive that
day. However, if they do need or want something from you, cats have no problem asking. A cat owner
never needs to worry about their cat needing something because they will tell you no matter what you
may be doing at the time. Their demanding nature is instrumental to their survival and wellbeing as a

Switchback Changed My Life-Personal Narrative
As we were loading up to leave for Switchback Raceway on February 8th, 2015, I was under the
impression that it was just going to be another typical day dedicated to dirtbikes. Little did I know that
I would be waiting by my boyfriend s bedside for the next 8 days at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
I ve always admired Hank, he stole my heart from the start with his shy yet bold personality. But, after
watching him endure a potentially life threatening injury, he s more than just admirable; he s one of
the strongest people I know and I will be forever grateful for having him in my life. After watching
him hit the ground after losing control of his dirt bike from 25ft in the air, I sprinted over to him and
when I got there he was looking up to me smiling, hi, babe he said. Hearing those two simple words
was beyond relieving and I thought to myself for a split second that he was okay and good to go. You

February 9th. We watch the nurses prep him for the surgery he s about to endure. I hardly know what
to do with myself, between the constant shaking and crying, I am a mess. I try my best to be strong for
him and keep telling myself everything will be okay. We find ourselves again, waiting not so patiently
for more news. 4 hours later, surgery is over and we are speaking with his surgeon. Thankfully
everything went well, metal screws and rods were put in and he s good as new again; except, not so
much. Not following directions during recovery could result in paralyzation, that scares me. I can not
worry, though. That s the worst thing I can do. Each day following has a new goal to be completed on
the road to recovery. He struggled with some but was doing fairly well. Issues appeared at the same
time he was progressing, he had trouble urinating, eating, and taking long, deep breaths to prevent
getting pneumonia. After 8 long days he is released to go home. He was on a very speedy road to
recovery, and none of us could be

Comparing Two Planetss
So, there are two groups of planets; the inner planets and the outer planets. They have a lot of
differents like atmosphere, weight, size and more. although the inner and outer planets have a lot in
common like what they revolve, the solar system they are in and more. With eight planets (Mercury,
Venus, Earth Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) there is a lot of information.
With these many planets there are a lot of similarities, that all the planets have. One thing all they
plant have is an axis, ever though all the axises are different all plants have one. Of course one thing
they have in common is are they planets are in our solar system. A third similarity is that all the
pictures we have of the plants are from the same telescope, the Hubble Telescope. Fourth to be
included in this they must orbit the Sun. Another fact is that they all have a mass and with that gravity.
Even if the planets are so different, for size, to where they are they all share these similarities and
others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two groups are the terrestrial and the jovian planets, or the inner and outer planets. These two
groups are used to show the differences in planets. Terrestrial planets (inner planets) are called this
because of the rock that makes up the planet. Jovian planets (outer planets) are mostly made of gas
causing this name, as well as the name gas giants. The atmospheres are also because with Terrestrial
being mostly made of hydrogen and helium, Jovian being mostly carbon

How To Write A Military Application Essay
When I was younger, I knew I could become anything I wanted to as long as I set my mind to it. With
inspiration at my fingertips and always believing in myself, that s what pushed me forward to always
succeed with whatever I do and to never give up. Like the time everyone around me with the
exceptional people said I could never make it in the military, that I was too weak. Even people who I
trusted most said that. So i joined. I stepped into that recruiter office with my long just dyed red hair,
shorts and sandals. They all looked at me with astonishment as if I had stepped into the wrong
building. After signing up I was sent to Fort Jackson, SC in the following months. When I got there I
saw, heard, and did so many things that shaped me to the person I am today. It made me realize how
strong I really am, and how anyone can achieve their goals.
When I got to basic training I saw things that you only see in those old military movies, everyone was
either scared or ready for the training that we would soon receive. Me , however I was one of the
ready ones that took it day by day and swore to never give up. I ... Show more content on

pushed myself through to do it and didn t give up. It was satisfying to overcome my fear furthermore i

The X Ray Vision Of Superman
It s a bird! It s a plane! It s Superman! In 1938, Action Comics #1, released the first Superman comic
to the public. Superman, also known as Kal El, has shown many different powers since his first debut
in 1938. This paper will discuss various topics about four of his major powers and explain why they
are all impossible for anyone to achieve in real life. Superman s four major powers that will be
discussed in this paper are X ray vision, being able to fly, super strength, and invulnerability.
The X ray was first discovered in 1895 by a German physicist named W.C. Roentgen ( The Discovery
). W.C. Roentgen was working in a lab one day in 1895 and decided to send a high electrical current
through a cathode ray filled with special gas. He realized that a dim green colored light was being
produced, and decided to hold the cathode ray just above his wife s hand. When he did this he
observed that the light was able to penetrate human skin, but would leave all the bones visible. There
is a picture below of the X ray of W.C. Roentgen s wife s hand ( The Discovery ). He named it the X
ray because he did not know the identity of what kind of ray it was. He just named it X, because of its
use in solving unknowns in algebraic equations ( The Discovery ).
However, there are some limitations on this Superman power in both the laws of physics and in the
laws of the human body. The first restriction is that in an X ray, tiny rays will pass through any atoms
that don t have enough mass

Self-Destruction In The Gargoyle And Walk To Morning
Society often fail to understand and see the mental pain that individuals carry throughout their lives.
Some people bear its burden, while others suffer greatly because of it, to the point of choosing self
destruction. The narrators from The Gargoyle (Davidson) and Walk to Morning (Boyden) both
experience this pain that ultimately sets them on a course to a deep pit. They survive their near deaths
and later encounter unique life changing people. As a result, they become better individuals. In the
Gargoyle , the narrator lacks a nurturing childhood and is blamed by the grandmother for causing his
mother s death: Her bitterness towards me towards me, as the cause of her daughter s death, was
obvious (Davidson, p.9). He is later transferred to live with his drug dealing uncle and aunt who only
takes him because of promised government cheques. Eventually he becomes an addicted drug user.
Similarly, in his speech Walk to Morning , Joseph Boyden described how his pain from depression and
drunkenness, coupled with the break up from a girl, set him off to end his own life. All I knew was
that I d just become too scared to live (Boyden). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

influence of alcohol. His car explodes after a crash, burning his body beyond recognition. My flesh

however, pulls through and lives. Boyden also met with a severe accident that nearly ended his life.
His depression and drunkenness made him choose to end it all by stepping in front of a fast moving
car. They found me lodged under the car of an older woman who was near hysteria (Boyden). He was
clinically dead as his heart actually stopped. And yet, for some reason no doctor at the scene dared

Cost Financing And Equity Financing
Debt and Equity1
Moving right along, outlined next will be several funding options available for start up businesses that
enable people, like me, to be able to put our dream in motion. There are two types of capital that can
be raised, debt and equity. Now some would think that as long as there are funds there to work with,
regardless of how they were procured, the end result would be the same. However, that is not the case.
Debt financing and equity financing have significant differences in how they affect the business s
bottom line and in how they are acquired. For instance, the interest paid on a business loan (option for
debt financing) is tax deductible, therefore decreasing the amount of taxable income and increasing

First up we have bonds, not to be mistaken with stock characteristics (which provide ownership in a
company), a bond is essentially a loan from the purchaser. When a small business issues a bond, it is
borrowing money. The person who purchases the bond loans your company money in exchange for a
return on his money (Johnston, 2016). Just like a business loan (to be discussed next) the interest that
is paid to these bond holders is tax deductible and there is a specified amount of time before the
amount is expected to be paid back. For instance, if you purchase a $1000 bond with a 10/yr. maturity
and 8% annual interest rate at its par value, you are expecting to get 8%/yr. on the $1000 bond issue
(loan to the company) with a return of principal (in this case $1000) at the end of the 10th year. Bond
interest rates (aka the discount rate and/or required return) is the rate of interest prevailing in the
market for bonds of the same risk and maturity (AAII Journal, 2008) and is the sum of all future cash
flows, discounted in value because they are not available today (AAII Journal, 2008). The discount
rate (interest rate/required return) is used to calculate the future value of the bond sold today. When a
bond sells for less than its par value (value of the bond), it is said to be selling at a discount... when
more than its par value, a premium. They have an inverse relationship with interest rates, which is a

R. Vs. Pushpanathan
The subsequent paragraphs in this document contain a detailed analysis of the case R. v. Pushpanathan
with regards to how each of the following schools of philosophy would rule in the aforementioned
case: Legal Realism, Natural Law, Legal Positivism, and Critical Legal Theory. Also written within
this document are the major questions that required answers for this case and a personal ruling on
whether or not Pushpanathan should have been awarded refugee status despite his previous arrest for

Under the philosophy of legal realism the decision on whether or not to grant Pushpanathan refugee
status ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This belief would greatly influence the case of R. v. Pushpanathan from a moral standpoint. A judge
who is set in the philosophy of natural law would most likely deny Pushpanathan refugee status
because of the circumstances in the case. Pushpanathan s actions would never be seen as morally
correct. Had Pushpanathan carried out his plans to traffic $10 million worth of heroin he would have
caused tremendous damage to society. This damage would come in many forms such as: economic,
civilian, and property. For example, the trafficking of heroin could lead to the loss of employment for
hundreds of people which would in turn harm the economy. Trafficking heroin would also lead to the
deaths of many people due to overdose and violent confrontations over the drug, as well as thousands
of dollars in property damage caused by uncontrollable outbursts when those addicted to the drug
begin to suffer from withdrawal because they lack the means necessary to obtain any of the substance.
The action of trafficking drugs is seen by most as morally wrong because of the damage it causes to
society. From this, one can safely assume that the law that is in place to deter people from trafficking
dangerous substances such as heroin is seen as morally correct by those who reflect the values of the
natural law philosophy because it protects society from what most people see as morally wrong.
Moreover, a judge who is set in the philosophy of natural law would see the lack of morality in
Pushpanathan s actions and the moral reasoning behind the law that punishes those who traffic
dangerous substances such as heroin. From this information, the judge would likely make the decision
to deny Pushpanathan refugee

  • 2. The Effects Of Religious Discrimination In Australia Religious beliefs are an important aspect of many people s lives. Results of the latest national census have revealed the religiously diverse nation that Australia has become (ABS 2017). The religious makeup of Australia has gradually changed over the past 50 years with Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam and Buddhism all increasingly common beliefs as can be seen in figure 1. Religious discrimination is defined as the unfavourable treatment of a person because of his or her religious beliefs. Furthermore, this extends to involve mistreatment of someone due to their marriage to or association with an individual of a particular religion (EOC 2014; pers. comm. Cooper 2017). Whilst Australia s religious diversity begins to grow so too does the concern of the reported incidents of religious discrimination impacting the lives of people of many different religions in Australia. It is important to understand the impact this discrimination has in order to address the issue. The Effect of Religious Discrimination in Australia A decade long national study conducted by the University of Western Sydney found that nearly half of Australians describe themselves as having anti Muslim attitudes (Veiszadeh 2015). Islamophobia and alike attitudes can have deeply hurtful effects and create considerable fear within religious communities. It also may serve to erect barriers between different religious communities in Australia. As Randa Abdel Fattah said in her winning Victorian Premier s Literary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hypocrisy In Frederick Douglass Frederick Douglass was a freed slave in the 1800 s who was famous for his ability to read and write, uncommon of a black man at the time. On July 4th, 1852, he gave a speech to citizens of the United States. In this speech, he called out the hypocrisy of the nation (Douglass), questioning the nation s treatment of slaves on a supposed day of independence. Frederick Douglass effectively uses rhetorical strategies to construct his argument and expose the hypocrisy of the nation. One of the rhetorical strategies that Douglass uses extremely effectively is the use of rhetorical questions. He has many of them scattered throughout the speech and they re meant to make the audience question the nation and their own ways. He begins by asking Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He proclaims that in the name of humanity... liberty... the Constitution and the Bible... are disregarded and trampled upon (Douglass). These are all things that white and black people, slaves and freemen alike have in common, but are unreasonable and unrealistic when they only seem to apply to one side, the white men. This is hypocritical in that the white men make these values and traditions a staple of their lives, yet when it comes to slaves, they seem to go away. He also believes that, though he will use the severest language (Douglass) he can, he firmly believes that not one word shall escape me that any man whose... not blinded by prejudice, or... a slave holder, shall not confess to be right and just (Douglass). So he sincerely believes that the average human being also knows that the treatment of slaves is unjust and unethical, but they choose not to act on these thoughts. His view, coming from the eyes and thoughts of slaves across America, show how hypocritical the nation actually is in both one sided values and not acting upon their knowledge that what is going on is ... • 4. Free Will The Concept of Free Will Free will is the ability to make your choices in life without having any consequences. We may feel the existence of free will until we start thinking and then figure out there really is not. Thus, free will is nothing other than just an illusion. The moment a person is born, they are confined to a land of law, a set biological makeup, and environmental factors that are beyond their control. Hence, human beings do not have free will and ultimate responsibilities thus the punishment for their misdeeds are not justifiable. A human can very well do what he wants, but cannot will what he wants. Einstein. We, people, consider ourselves as a free being as we think we are capable of making our choices as per our need and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, we are not responsible for our misdeeds as we do not have free will. Let us take an example of a computer system. Computers do not have its user makes free will and all its choices. For instance, the computer you just bought spending lot of money is affected by a virus that duplicates your file and makes it accessible to other users within the network. Would you shut it down and put it in your basement for its misdeed holding it responsible or take it to the technician and get it fixed? Another thing to question would be, if one should be punished for misdeeds if they are mentally ill. People that are mentally ill do not have the capability of functioning in the society like most other people do. This is due to impairments of the brain that is way beyond anyone s control. In some court cases, this disability is highly considered. If the criminal does not have the free will to perform these misdeeds, how can they be held accountable for such wrong ... • 5. Demand Of Demand And Demand Essay Demand Determinants The concept of demand is derived from the willingness and ability of consumers to buy goods or services at a particular time depending on prices and preferences. In most cases, the demand for goods and services depends on the affordability and comfort of consumers to purchase them, while holding other factors as constant (Hubbard O Brien, p. 70 2013). Basic economic concepts of demand state that an increase in price affects the demand in a negative way; as prices of gasoline increase, the demand should go down. The concept or law of demand is focused on the correlation between the price of gasoline and the quantity of demand for the product. From my observation, consumers are constantly looking for ways to minimize their consumption of gasoline. This century, motorists are opting for fuel efficient automobiles with the aim of reducing their overall fuel consumption. The theoretical concept of price adjustment by gasoline consumers can affect Edgar s idea to open a retail gas station. Whenever retail fuel prices increase, in the long run, consumers may retaliate by cutting off the frequency of gas consumption by reducing time spent driving, reduce the number of times they use their car and other methods that will save them from using more money in gas stations. In the short run, the change in price of gasoline per gallon is not sufficiently volatile to affect consumption significantly. The graph below shows U.S. National Average in gasoline prices ... • 7. Importance Of Psychological Theories In Five BellsAndFive... The crossing of boundaries is always psychologically challenging and confronting for an individual. What do you think? The crossing of boundaries is psychologically challenging and confronting as it can require an individual to accept events the way that they occurred and make attempts to move on, which can be difficult when it involves a traumatic situation. The psychological strain of crossing boundaries is represented through the texts of Five Bells, by Gail Jones, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo and the graphical novel Maus. The crossing of a boundary can take a large toll on an individual, particularly when they are not able to cross it. One type of boundary that is particularly challenging for an individual to cross is that of their past and their current self. To find self forgiveness, an individual needs to be able to cross the boundary out of their memories of the past and move forward with their life. In the novel Five Bells, the character James struggles with his past immensely. He feels regret at how he left Ellie and their relationship, and struggles to cross that boundary by meeting with her. James psychological struggle is shown during his meeting with Ellie as he thinks He must also apologise. He must say sorry. He must drag sincere words from his heart to his mouth... Of these things, at this time, James said nothing. The use of internal monologue provides an insight into what is going on in James mind as he attempts to cross a boundary. He wants to ... It seemed on plausible to research the knowledge questions within the survey itself to verify what the actual answers to the questions asked were. The answers for these questions were found from the Department of Energy, American Petroleum Institute, and presentations from technical experts within the industry, such as the University of Houston s Michael Economides. The survey was taken from several University Center students and co workers. While this in no way is representative of the entire population, it did provide a slice of information necessary for comparison. The survey was intended to provide an insight into common knowledge of the oil and gas industry and opinions of those surveyed. The survey included three questions for a demographic baseline, four questions related to knowledge of the oil and gas industry, and eleven questions of opinion related to the oil and gas industry. The opinion questions dealt particularly with prices of by products such as gasoline. A total of forty surveys were conducted. I want to work with the elderly because I believe that the hard work that it takes to understand them is rewarding from listening to nostalgic stories of the good ol days to life changing advice that was gained from decades of experience. During this time, before, and after she returned to the ghetto attempts to rid the ghettos of Jews were called actions . To escape being caught by the German police who took part in the actions, they built large bunkers to hide from their captors. After several of these actions, the Buczacz ghetto had been emptied by more than half. At this point the time came to move to a new ghetto. Alicia had been in this new ghetto only a short time when another action occurred. This time Alicia was captured and brought to a mass grave with a multitude of other Jews. Just when Alicia was ... History of the Computer Industry in America The Computer It s History and Spot in American Society The Computer It s History and Spot in American Society It is not very often that a new invention comes about and touches every aspect of our lives. Such a device that changes the way we work, live, and play is a special one, indeed. A machine that has done all this and more now exists in nearly every business in the U.S. and in one out of every two households. This incredible invention is the computer. The outbreak of World War II produced a desperate need for computing capability, especially for the military. New weapons systems were produced which needed trajectory tables and other essential data (Hitmill). In 1942, John P. Eckert, John W. Mauchley, and their associates at the University of Pennsylvania decided to build a high speed electronic computer to do the job. This machine became known as ENIAC, for Electrical Numerical Integrator And Calculator. It could multiply two numbers at the rate of 300 products per second, by finding the value of each product from a multiplication table stored in its memory. ENIAC was thus about 1,000 times faster than the previous generation of computers. It used 18,000 standard vacuum tubes, occupied 1800 square feet of floor space, used about 180,000 watts of electricity, and used punch card input and output. The ENIAC was very difficult to program because one had to essentially re wire it to perform whatever task the computer was required to do (Bellis). It was, however, efficient in handling the particular programs for which it had been designed. ENIAC is generally accepted as the first successful high speed electronic digital computer and was used in many applications from 1946 to 1955. Mathematician John von Neumann was very interested in the ENIAC. In 1945, he undertook a theoretical study of computation that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the end of the school day, a group of friends whisked me away to their drama club meeting, and at the end of the week I was the only member of that group that remained. That accident was the genesis of a brand new passion. From starting off as an average stage hand to becoming a full fledged member of the high school tech program, I was hooked for life. Since starting in the field of technical theatre, it seems like it s been show after show. A grand total of fourteen shows in two years, being involved in almost every technical aspect of each show, has solidified my career decision. We insult each other and sometime we cuss at wach other. For example when we insult each other we often call one another fat, ugly, and dumb. When we insult each other it is not meant to hurt one another feelings. Some time our insult can be harsh but that is how we relieve some stress. Our life is hard when we are at home because we struggle day to day. So when we get the chance to hang out with each we try to make each other laugh. Also when my friend and I decided to do something like skip class or go to a party and someone back out we make fun of them. For example, we will call them scary, wack, or a weenie. We do this for they can feel embarrass and so they can change their mind about backing out. I make fun of them because when I was little my sister and brother always made fun of me because I was the youngest so as I got older I wanted to do it back to other for I can feel like I have the power to change someone s mind. With my siblings, we tend to use body language when we are out in public. We do this when we want to talk about someone we don t like and we do not want to say it out loud. Introduction In this paper I will discuss efficacy of fast track system in emergency department across Ontario, that will influence patient satisfaction, and also identifies practices that can be used in the Emergency Department. It also provides ways of promising strategies to help Emergency Departments address patient satisfaction issues more effectively. Each hospital can identify critical issues and processes and choose strategies to support local needs. By introducing the fast track process in a hospital, it caters for the patients who have critical conditions and can be attended to within a very short period. The fast track system can be employed at various stages to check for potential outcomes and other implementations in the healthcare industry. On the operation stage, the system can be used to analyze the various outcomes of patient flow study. At the strategic stage, fast track system can be used to monitor the financial gains of an organization and evaluate its commercial health. On the national stage, it can be used to observe the government programs that address the reduction of wait time for the patients in the ED s. At the operational stage, it aims to present a concrete analysis of an ED that exists within a fast track system. Introducing the fast track system was meant to reduce the wait times in the ED (Yoon, 2003). Reducing the time would allow the increase of the numbers of patients who come in, get treated, and discharged. It ends up increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the ED. Increasing the effectiveness and its capacity makes it possible for more patients to be examined and treated because there is more time in the system. For example, at the Grand River Hospital, there are several initiatives that are already in place that are targeting to reduce the staying duration of the patient in the ED. These initiatives include having nurse practitioners in the emergency department, having a specific fast track area, emergency medical rules that permit nurses to start on ... The problem is, many development initiatives have gone wrong, and continue to. In fact, people who work in the various sectors of development admit that on a whole development is not working. Why every elementary school teacher saw this question as the optimum way to ease the first day jitters is beyond me, but I digress. Dogs are impossible to not like; they re large puffs of fur that contain about as much intelligence as an infant while also retaining the endearing quality of I ll love you forever if you pet me . Cats however, are cold, cunning, and judgmental creatures that refuse to demean themselves with silly things such as utter devotion. Superman, also known as Kal El, has shown many different powers since his first debut in 1938. This paper will discuss various topics about four of his major powers and explain why they are all impossible for anyone to achieve in real life. Superman s four major powers that will be discussed in this paper are X ray vision, being able to fly, super strength, and invulnerability. The X ray was first discovered in 1895 by a German physicist named W.C. Roentgen ( The Discovery ). W.C. Roentgen was working in a lab one day in 1895 and decided to send a high electrical current through a cathode ray filled with special gas. He realized that a dim green colored light was being produced, and decided to hold the cathode ray just above his wife s hand. When he did this he observed that the light was able to penetrate human skin, but would leave all the bones visible. There is a picture below of the X ray of W.C. He just named it X, because of its use in solving unknowns in algebraic equations ( The Discovery ). Just like a business loan (to be discussed next) the interest that is paid to these bond holders is tax deductible and there is a specified amount of time before the amount is expected to be paid back. For instance, if you purchase a $1000 bond with a 10/yr. maturity and 8% annual interest rate at its par value, you are expecting to get 8%/yr. on the $1000 bond issue (loan to the company) with a return of principal (in this case $1000) at the end of the 10th year. Bond interest rates (aka the discount rate and/or required return) is the rate of interest prevailing in the market for bonds of the same risk and maturity (AAII Journal, 2008) and is the sum of all future cash flows, discounted in value because they are not available today (AAII Journal, 2008). The discount rate (interest rate/required return) is used to calculate the future value of the bond sold today. When a bond sells for less than its par value (value of the bond), it is said to be selling at a discount... when more than its par value, a premium. They have an inverse relationship with interest rates, which is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also written within this document are the major questions that required answers for this case and a personal ruling on whether or not Pushpanathan should have been awarded refugee status despite his previous arrest for conspiracy to traffic in a narcotic due to his involvement with a group in possession of heroin with a street value of $10 million. Legal Realism Under the philosophy of legal realism the decision on whether or not to grant Pushpanathan refugee status ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This belief would greatly influence the case of R. v. Pushpanathan from a moral standpoint. A judge who is set in the philosophy of natural law would most likely deny Pushpanathan refugee status because of the circumstances in the case. Pushpanathan s actions would never be seen as morally correct. Had Pushpanathan carried out his plans to traffic $10 million worth of heroin he would have caused tremendous damage to society. This damage would come in many forms such as: economic, civilian, and property. For example, the trafficking of heroin could lead to the loss of employment for hundreds of people which would in turn harm the economy. Trafficking heroin would also lead to the deaths of many people due to overdose and violent confrontations over the drug, as well as thousands of dollars in property damage caused by uncontrollable outbursts when those addicted to the drug begin to suffer from withdrawal because they lack the means necessary to obtain any of the substance. The action of trafficking drugs is seen by most as morally wrong because of the damage it causes to society. From this, one can safely assume that the law that is in place to deter people from trafficking dangerous substances such as heroin is seen as morally correct by those who reflect the values of the natural law philosophy because it protects society from what most people see as morally wrong. Moreover, a judge who is set in the philosophy of natural law would see the lack of morality in Pushpanathan s actions and the moral reasoning behind the law that punishes those who traffic dangerous substances such as heroin. From this information, the judge would likely make the decision to deny Pushpanathan refugee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
