Case Study Of Dengue
INTRODUCTION
The word dengue is derived from the Swahili phrase Ka dinga pepo, meaning cramp like seizure .It
was used to describe a dengue like illness reported in Carribean outbreak during 1827 1828.From
hereon terms like Denga and Dinga were often used and hence was derived the present day
nomenclature of Dengue.Dengue term was first used in 1828 during an epidemic in Cuba. Dengue
virus(50nm) belongs to family Flaviviridae. The mature dengue virion consists of a positive (+)single
stranded RNA genome surrounded by an icosahedral or isometric nucleocapsid about 30 nm in
diameter. This nucleocapsid is covered by a lipid envelope. The complete ... Show more content on

However, the trend is now changing due to socio economic and man made ecological changes. It has
resulted in invasion of Ae.aegypti mosquitoes into the rural areas, which has tremendously increased
the chances of spread of the disease to rural areas. Brief History In India, the first evidence about the
occurrence of dengue fever was reported during 1956 from Vellore district in Tamil Nadu. The first
DHF outbreak occurred in Calcutta (Kolkata, West Bengal) in 1963 with 30% of cases showing
haemorrhagic manifestations. During 1996, one of the most severe outbreaks of DF/DHF occurred in
Delhi where, 10,252 cases and 423 deaths occurred[11]. In 2006, the country witnessed another
outbreak of DF/DHF, when a total 12,317 cases and 184 deaths were reported from 21 states/UTs[11].

Rule of Law

Rule of Law
London International Programs, UG Law, Public Law Essay 2.
The Rule of Law, enforced by the courts, is the ultimate controlling factor on which our constitution is
based. Discuss.
The rule of law is one of the fundamental principles of UK s unwritten or uncodified constitution .The
key idea of the rule of law is that the law should apply equally to all, rulers and ruled alike. This in the
words of the 19 century constitution expert, A.V.Diecy ensures a government of law and not a
government of men . The alternative to the rule of law is there for arbitrary government. In this way,
the rule of law establishes the relationship between government and the people. AS John ... Show

The Law Is Always Applied
Disputes must be resolved by the application of the law rather than by other means. This means that
there must be a certainty of punishment for breaches of law law cannot apply in certain circumstances,
but not in others. By the same token, there should be punishment only for breaches of law people
should not be penalized except through the due process of law.
However, concerns have been expressed about the extent to which this principle applies in the UK; *
Not all crimes are reported and therefore legally addressed ( this applies, for instance, in the case of
most rapes) * As polices resources are limited many crimes are not detected ( for example , speeding
offences) * Trial by the media means that people may be punished without legal proceeding having
taken, or, perhaps, despite being acquitted.
4. Legal Redress Is Available Through The Courts
If people s rights have been infringed (whether by other citizens, organizations or the state,) they
should be able to protect themselves through the law. For many legal experts and a growing body of
senior judges this implies that the law should defend fundamental human rights .This is the aspect of
the rule of law that safeguards the individuals from the state.
However, concerns have been expressed about the extent to which this principle applies in the UK: *
There is no entrenched bill of right to protect fundamental human rights * The Human Rights

On-Site Childcare
BODY
The approach to the research on the topic of on site childcare benefit bases its results on scientific
findings. Using scholarly articles what were peer reviewed, and analyzing the findings of experts
within the field, while comparing the situation at our two locations. In addition, we solicited the input
of the workers with the formation of focus group comprising of members of both staffs from the
Rockville and the main campus. This group represented all levels and categories of staff. The aim of
the focus group is to communicate with their category of workers and articulate their concerns as it
relates to the establishment of an on site childcare service. The report also utilized documents, such as

reduce the high level of absenteeism, tardiness, and the resulting low productivity level. Companies
that sponsor childcare program believe that their contribution significantly helps increase recruiting
potential, morale, productivity, and quality. This report recommends:
The provision of on site childcare service to our Rockville and Main Campus within 1year
Offering childcare subsidies for those who cannot use the facility
Offering flexible work schedule to reduce the level of absenteeism and tardiness

European Colonization in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay
No Critique of European Colonization in The Tempest
Since the 1960s, several critics have found a critique of colonialism in their respective readings of
Shakespeare s The Tempest. The most radical of these analyses takes Prospero to be a European
invader of the magical but primitive land that he comes to rule, using his superior knowledge to
enslave its original inhabitants, most notably Caliban, and forcing them to do his bidding. While the
textual clues concerning the geographic location of Prospero s island are ambiguous and vague, there
is a prominent references to the Bermoothes. We know that shortly before he wrote his final play,
Shakespeare read a contemporary travel account of the Virginia Company s 1609 expedition to ...

Just as Native American tribes would come to distinguish between colonizers from different nations,
e.g., favoring the French over the British or vice versa, Caliban becomes disenchanted with Trinculo
as a master and proclaims that he will only serve Stephano. For his part, like some great father
protecting his children from a European rival, Stephano rebukes Trinculo for his mistreatment of
Caliban, saying that the poor monster s my subject, and he shall not suffer indignity (III, ii., ll.36 37).
All of this closely resembles some aspects of European colonialist stereotypes of the New World s
peoples and of their historical subjugation of Indians for their own good.
If Shakespeare s play does comment upon European exploration and colonization in the Western
Hemisphere, however, The Tempest does not contain a critique of exploitation, but, instead, an
apology for it. Caliban was initially treated as an ignorant child and only put under wraps after he
attempted to force himself upon the completely innocent Miranda. The charge of rape is made more
credible in having Miranda pass judgment upon Caliban whom she calls an Abhorr d slave (I, ii.,
l.352). Unlike our current understanding of European colonialism, Prospero puts Caliban in chains
because he has earned the status of

Analysis Of Game Of Thrones
Game of Thrones is a show that I have recently started watching. I usually don t watch television
shows of this genre, but this one is very entertaining. Game of Thrones is a good fantasy drama
because of the variety of settings, character development, and the suspense within the show.
It is important for a fantasy drama to have a variety of settings or change of scenery every so often
because this adds more to the show and keeps viewers from becoming bored. In Game of Thrones
there are many different settings showed. In this show, there are many characters who believe they are
the one true king or queen. The plot of the show is the conquest of these different characters to take
their place on the Iron Throne as the king or queen, hence the name
Game of Thrones. The many different characters and showing the story of their journeys is what
allows for the many different settings. The show shows seven different kingdoms, there is the
North Kingdom, Kingdom of Mountain and Vale, Kingdom of Isles and Rivers, Kingdom of the
Rock, Kingdom of the Stormlands, Kingdom of the Reach and the Principality of Dorne. Scenes take
place in each one of the settings listed and many other settings in places between the kingdoms.
Another important quality of a good fantasy drama is showing character development.
Character development allows viewers to watch the characters grow and shows more than one side of
the character, this gives the characters more depth and makes them more interesting and

Jane Eyre by Emily Bronte
... what mystery, that broke out, now in fire and now in blood, at the deadest hours of the night? What
creature was it, that masked an ordinary woman s face and shape, uttered the voice, now of a mocking
demon, and anon of a carrion seeking bird of prey? (Brontë 221). A brief synopsis of Charlotte Brontë
s novel, Jane Eyre, is present in this short quote, which describes the mystery that is present within the
novel. As well as its gothic sensation, romance is present as well, giving the novel its feminine
characteristics. Foreshadowing is a main aspect which helps prolong the suspense in the novel. The
element of foreshadowing helps the reader foresee the upcoming events in the novel. These gothic
elements create a mysterious plot within the novel, which escalates during the climax. Novels in the
Gothic Romance genre include many mysterious events, as well as a twisted love story. Jane Eyre is
classified as a Gothic Romance due to its gloomy setting, elements of mystery and suspense, and
supernatural components.
In like manner, Jane Eyre contained a gloomy setting that follows throughout the novel. The first main
indication of Jane Eyre being a Gothic Romance was when Jane was living at Gateshead Hall. When
Jane was sent to the red room, imagery was presented which links the room to the idea of death. . . .. it
was in this chamber he breathed his last; . . . and, since that day, a sense of dreary consecration had
guarded it from frequent intrusion (Brontë 8). Having a

My Country Assessment Of Syria
My country assessment of Syria contains much of the recent history, but I believe to truly understand
what is happening today, we must understand how historically Syrian politics, geopolitical regional
experiences and culture has come into play in the world understanding of a proud, but fractured
Country. In this assessment I will tackle modern history, political and insurgent threats to the region
and to the United States foreign missions as well as short and long term analysis on the direction of
the country and U.S. policies going forward.
Syria is one of the oldest civilizations in history, with art, written language, and religious activities
dating back to the time of Mesopotamia. It has been the dagger s edge in the Levant, splitting between
western culture, and eastern religious ideology for the last two millennia. Significant religious acts in
religious lore such as Paul the apostle converting to Christianity on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1
43) also transpired in Syria. The country has been conquered numerous times; the mix of art, religions,
governments and culture have changed and left scars on the country. In this manner Syria is as diverse
of a place as many European cities at their cultural height.
Modern Syria presents many challenges. President Basher Al Assad has ruled since 2000, and ruled
with an iron fist. He has consistently put down uprisings along the northern border with Turkey and
western border with Lebanon. Separatist movements

Harry Potter And Grendel Research Paper
I was an only child for much of my childhood and we moved around a lot, so while I was growing up,
books were my constant and usually only friends. The books I ve selected for my bookshelf are what I
feel my progression in taste of books looks like in relation to my personal growth.
I included Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because it s my favorite out of the entire series,
both book and movie. Harry Potter was such a huge part of my life while I was growing up. It was this
universal cultural phenomenon that I was so excited to be part of. I grew up reading the series and
being so excited every time the next movie or the next book came out and I sorely regret not attending
a Harry Potter premiere when I had the chance.
Notes from Underground and Grendel were books that were assigned reading in high school but that I
greatly enjoyed. Grendel had such an impact on me and it s still my absolute favorite book of all time.
I cite Grendel as the starting point of my foray into existentialism and philosophy in general. Grendel
has that simple yet profound language that really resonates with me. Existentialism is a Humanism
and The Sorrows of Young Werther were also books that were assigned reading but in college. I
enjoyed both very much despite their differing forms: Existentialism is a Humanism being based on a
lecture and The Sorrows of Young Werther being an epistolary novel. ... Show more content on

My Migration To Chicago
One of the intercultural experiences that comes to mind for me is when I moved from Huntington
Beach, California to Chicago, Illinois. I was in my early 20 s and my roommates talked me into
moving with them. Since I was originally from New York I anticipated living in Chicago would be
very similar. The first couple weeks were exciting and new, we visited a lot of tourist sites and we
knew our life in Chicago was going to be fun and exciting. The people seemed about the same as we
were and most of the brands we had come to love in CA were available to us in our new home. After a
few weeks I found a job at a local bowling alley. Soon after I began to realize I was missing home, I

Maria s Accident Is More Tragic
In life, we all encounter some form of incidents and accidents, but Maria s accident is more tragic.
Maria is a thirteen year old girl who was involved in a hit and run car accident that left her in a
vegetative state. When one is in a vegetative state they are unconscious. They have no awareness
themselves or the environment around them and are unable to make decisions for themselves. Maria
has tubes attached to her that are sustaining her life by providing her with nutrition and hydration. No
one knows for certain if she will recover from the persistent vegetative state, but the prognosis does
not look well. Maria does not have a living to assist her family and friends with decision making, and
they are divided on the decision whether they should remove the tubes that are providing her with
nutrition and hydration, or leave them in place for a little longer. Removing the tubes that are
providing her with nutrition and hydration will contribute to her death. My reasoned opinion: I believe
that Maria s family and friends should leave the tubes in place as the doctors, do not know if she will
recover from the vegetative state or not. Also, if they remove the tubes too soon they will not know if
she would have recovered or not. There are several stories about patients who had life threatening
injuries who were expected to die and did not the response to treatment being administered right away
but suddenly surprises doctors with their recovery. Not to mention, they will

The Continuity Of Life Chapter 1 Summary
Chapter 9 The Continuity of Life: Cellular Reproduction Summary (184)
Reproduction is important for the survival of all living things. Without a mechanism for reproduction,
life would come to an end. There are two types of reproduction to learn in elementary grades, asexual
and sexual reproduction. Many teachers are afraid of discussing reproduction, but if presented as a
factual lesson it is easy for the students to understand the principles without the standard giggles.
Asexual reproduction refers to simple cell division that produces an exact duplicate of an organism.
There are many different types of asexual reproduction which can be discussed to show students the
variability of modes of reproduction. Some single celled organisms reproduce by simple cell division,
this is called binary fission. In this manner, the mother cell simply splits in half producing two
daughter cells. Some cells reproduce by unequal division of the cells, this is called budding. In this
process the bud forms as a knob on the mother cell. The nucleus divides and identical parts go to the
mother cell and the bud. The bud may grow until it is as large as the mother cell and can form buds of
its own. In some cases buds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION
Rapid progress has been made in engineering domain over the last 10 years, with a great importance
on ethical and social responsibilities. Engineering is not just about applying scientific theories or
finding solutions. It also has to do with improving the social life, society overall by getting engineers
into mainstream industry for business. Every engineers gets involved with circumstances that require
the understanding of the ethical facts and rules. Engineering has a great dependencies on society. As a
result of new technologies, new products and new risks developments. Many a decisions during this

Canadian Copyright Law
There are various comparable qualities among Canadian and American copyright, for instance, the
general walks in the application strategy. Regardless, every so often Canadian lawyer and clients make
wrong assumptions about US copyright laws that can essentially influence a copyright case. Besides,
some US lawyers and clients erroneously acknowledge more resemblance between Canadian laws and
US than truly exists. The Canadian copyright law is important in today s day in age because it helps
ensure the author gets the credits necessary for their work and protects their work. This will be shown
through the following points in the article below. The Canadian copyright law has a stronger copyright
law because Canadian law has a protection by the federal government; the rights held by the author,
the individual remains the author and fair use and fair dealing.
To begin, copyright is the privilege of an author of a work to keep others from utilizing his or her

Canada and U.S. are both considered similar in many ways, but when looked at closely one can find

Connecting with the child was of no issue, as he was my son s age with similar interests and level of
rambunctiousness. He is the one who taught me there is no need to suppress my emotions. In fact, he

You work out? I can tell. No, it s not straight out of a steamy romance novel, though it could be. This

And that their advertising explodes on the media scene.
Calvin Klein eventually dropped the $6 million dollar campaign after the advertisements were accused
of violating child pornography laws. On September 8 the Justice Department began looking into
claims that the ads used young models posed in a provocative manner. A Calvin Klein spokeswoman
stated that only one of the models used in their ads was under the age of 18. The fifteen year old girl
that was in his ads was Bijou Phillips, whose mother was aware of the ad and was proud of her
daughter.
If the parents of the teen models allowed their children to pose for the advertisements, who are we to
blame the CK company for using them. Who are we to look down on Calvin Klein s ads when you can
watch any show on prime time TV and see much worse than what the ads portrayed? Who are we to

Calvin Klein has publicly stated that the misunderstood ads had been intended to convey the spirit,

Although there was many casualties, Doolittle had survived a crash landing and is still alive today.
The Doolittle Raids was the first time American Armies had bombed, and raided, Japan s inland.
Those brave men that died and the ones that survived should ve been rewarded. Some did get

Amadeus Research Paper
The film Amadeus has been added to my personal collection of favorite and most interesting films of
all time. The movie Amadeus won eight academy awards, and is considered one of the most popular
movies of that time. Before watching the movie, I thought it was going to be all about Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart but was shied away from that thought after it opened and closed with Antonio
Salieri. Antonio Salieri had a dream of becoming the best composer in Vienna as well as the world. He
worshiped God and wanted to make music with gods helping hand, then he met a man with such great
talent that he thought god had turned his back on him and shined his light on Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart.

Wolfgang s mother, Anna Maria Pertl, was born to a middle class family of local community leaders.
His only sister was Maria Anna with their father s encouragement and guidance, they both were
introduced to music at an early age. Mozart was an extremely talented child, who started to compose
music before the age of five years old. By the age of thirteen, Mozart started writing proof of his
genius with sonatas, concertos, symphonies, religious works and quite a few operas. In the year 1773
he wrote his first piano concerto.
The relationship between Mozart and Salieri wasn t as hate filled as the film was sought out to be. For
Salieri, another great composer at that time, it is easy for him to take the part as a musically jealous
antagonist for the film. The film showed that Salieri at the end of the film was considered crazy by
placing him in an insane asylum because of the claims he made about Mozart and his works. Salieri in
fact did not hate Mozart because of lack of proof, but for the movie it was fitting to show that he
envied Mozart, turned against him, and even tried to kill

Taking a Look at Quantum Cryptography
Quantum Cryptography is the newest technology in the field of Encryption and proved to be most
secure as of now. In this paper we will discuss what quantum cryptography is and what makes it most
secure and unbreakable.
Introduction
All our classical computer cryptography methods are basically based on some mathematical
calculations which are quiet easy to implement in one direction but very difficult to process in the
other direction. As RSA(Rivest Shamir Adleman) algorithm which is one of the first practicable and
most famous public key cryptosystems, RSA, is based on the technique of factoring large numbers
which makes it secure. Difficulty in factoring increases with number of digits in RSA key. For
example, a 128 digit number would take millions of years to factor with current computers.
There are still limitations in classical cryptography, it is purely mathematical and information cannot
be separated from its physical representation. In Classical physics, we use binary form to store and
process the data. In the 1980s, C.Bennet, P.Benioff, R.Feynman and others observed that new and very
powerful ways of information processing are possible with quantum mechanical systems. This gave
birth to the concept of quantum computing.
We have algorithms such as Shor s Algorithm, a quantum computer can break a very large number
into its prime factors otherwise which could take millions of years to be solved. The day when
quantum cryptography will become a reality, above

Archetypes In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
In almost any story, whether novel or poem, lies a hero. Depending on the path, a variety of
archetypes usually accompany the hero. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines archetype as the
original pattern or model of which all things of the same type are representations or copies. Joseph
Campbell s A Hero With A Thousand Faces introduces the common archetypes often found in various
pieces of literature, explaining The parallels will be immediately apparent; and these will develop a
vast and amazingly constant statement of the basic truths by which man has lived throughout the
millenniums of his residence on the planet, in his preface to the 1949 edition. To summarize, after
learning of the different archetypes found in a story, one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples such as the Green Knight, a product of Morgan le Faye and Morgan s castle and everything
that lies within it support this idea. Although, not only can green represent the envy that makes the
story, it can also represent a connection to nature, perhaps even other worldly. The fact that the Green
Knight made up of green demonstrates a very important relation between him and the world, revealed
through his weapons of choice such as his holly branch and axe. Meanwhile, red and gold, strongly
associated with Gawain, contrast the Green Knight s green and gold. The color red represents love and
life (blood) while gold represents wealth and prosperity. The colors serve as a wonderful visual to
Gawain s character very noble.
The role of the temptress, a character archetype identified by Joseph Campbell, tests the moral values
of the hero in the hero s journey. In mythology, sirens or nymphs often depicted the temptress, but in
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the temptress took the form of a human seductress. In the poem, as
Sir Bertilak sets off to hunt every morning, the lovely Lady Bertilak, otherwise known as Sir Bertilak
s wife, pays Sir Gawain a visit. A seductress should bear some beauty to impose the threat of
seduction, because this gives the temptress the ability to hold power over the hero s head with
something he or she wants, or something material. What better characteristic to seduce a knight than
appear as The fairest of ladies

The Suppression of the Indian Religion and Culture in the...
Thesis Statement: I believe that a profound effect on Indian religion practiced in the New World was
caused by Columbus and the Age of Discovery. Historical evidence proves that, before there were
Europeans on this continent, there were native peoples living in communion with their environment
and, very often, each other. Their religious practices were interwoven with their daily lives and
religion held a prominent, significant place within their culture. The intrusion by Europeans into this
peaceful world had profound effects on the Indians, especially their religious practices. What had been
a peaceful, harmonic lifestyle changed dramatically that fall of 1492. The Europeans entered the

I believe that Columbus could only view those needs through European eyes, his EYES! The journey
that began the long process by which a single culture came to dominate as never before all the other
cultures in the world, to impose its languages in their mouths, its clothes on their backs, its values in
their hearts.. (Sale p.27) Columbus and those who followed in his footsteps never bothered to consider
that the indios did not want or need European help. The standard historians line that the European
conquest of Americas was driven by God, gold, and glory.. (Sale, p.17) but in what order? Columbus`
leadership, or lack of it, set the pattern for treatment of Indios for many generations. Historical
accounts of not only Columbus voyages but others adds to the doubt of order. In fact, the European s
attitude towards the Indians was evidenced in two schools of thought noble savage who desperately
needed European aid and welcomed it or cannibal a subhuman creature incapable of earning salvation

Petrarch s Influence On Christianity
Two humanist ideas that defined the age of the Renaissance were the idea that man could achieve and
leaning away from the Christian world view. The enforcement of the idea that man could achieve led
people to valuing their strengths more than they did before. Leaning away from the Christian world
view let people experience a different type of lifestyle. Upholding the humanistic concept of man
could achieve enabled the citizens of Europe to hold their abilities to higher standards, leading to
achievement. In The Ascent of Mount Ventoux, Petrarch wrote about his ascent of the highest
mountain in his region. By pushing himself both physically and mentally to reach the peak, Petrarch
proved what he could truly achieve, only to see the view. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Ascent of Mount Ventoux , Petrarch mentioned that the main reason behind his ascent was only
to see the view from the highest peak. This exhibited the leaning away from Christian reasoning by
showing that Petrarch did not do everything to deepen his Christian faith, but for his own self
exploration. In Primavera , Botticelli displayed figures from Roman mythology, such as Venus and the
Three Graces. This showed that incorporating not only Christian figures into art, but ones from the
Greco Roman culture actually helped people advance in society, like Botticelli did. In The Prince ,
Machiavelli said that the proper prince s actions should not be restricted by moral considerations.
Machiavelli proved that by doing what is necessary, a prince could be more successful than if he were
to follow the Christian morals that were deemed so high during the Middle Ages. The idea that
Europeans could wean themselves from following every Christian moral consideration helped the
advancement of society because now people were able to branch out into doing things that previously

Behavior Change Theory
Are behavior change theories important to consider when planning and implementing behavior change
interventions?
I think that behavior change theories are quite important in order to develop behavior change
interventions. The theories may advance scholarly insight and methodologies to health professionals
in order to direct effective interventional applications. The interdisciplinary expertise that may be
gleaned from the theorists, may be a necessary element given the current complexities facing today s
health issues. If careful consideration is given to theoretical methodologies that may be effectively
used to redirect behaviors in a positive direction, development of a rational course of interventional
actions to effect change could be realized.

Gender Labeling In Society
The environment in which a person grows up in and the people that surround them often times have a
lasting impact on them on who they are as a person and how they interact with others as well as how
they view themselves as. Society often contributes greatly in the way a person identifies themselves
by labeling them as either male or female. This labeling process begins by the time the child is born
and they are given the label of being a boy or a girl based on their appearance. Labels are put upon a
person throughout their entire life, depending on who they are as a person, the way they act, what they
believe in, and the way they interact with others. The role of society in all of this is far greater than
just putting people into certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many labels that make up a person, whether it be gender wise, religion, ethnicity, or
something they are good at, but the ones that stick out the most are the ones that society imposes on
them. As individuals, once we are given a certain label, we start to believe it and begin acting upon it.
Oftentimes it may go to extremity where the individual begins to lose their own identity in attempts to
fulfill a different one. If the individual is told that they are very fashionable, they may start to buy the
latest trends in the fashion industry despite the price just to fulfill this label. Labels may stray from the
individual, but the ones that forever remain are the ones where a well respected individual lays it upon
them. In On Being Sane in Insane Places (1973), David L Rosenhan performs an experiment in which
eight sane people are evaluated and are able to get admitted to a psychiatric ward as pseudopatients.
While in there, they acted the way they normally did but were disregarded by staff members based on
the label that was imposed on them. It took a while for the employees to realize that they were
mentally sane, but because they were admitted as pseudopatients, everything else about them was
disregarded. Once a person is designated abnormal, all of his other behaviors and characteristics are
colored by that label, (1973:54). Rosenhan also says that the labels given by mental health
professionals are just as influential on the patient as they are on their family and friends to the extent
where they eventually begin to accept their diagnosis and behave accordingly to it,

Theories Of Biocentric Egalitarianism
Paul Taylor, a professor at Brooklyn college, is known for his theory of biocentric egalitarianism.
Biocentric Egalitarianism is the notion that all living beings have equal inherent worth in that each is a
goal directed system pursuing its own good (VanDeVeer 21). Taylor emphasizes a life centered
approach to environmental ethics, as opposed to an anthropocentric human centered approach. He
argues that it is the good of individual organisms, considered as entities having inherent worth, that
determines our moral relations with the Earth s wild communities of life (201). We as humans have a
duty to all plants and animals as they are also members of the biotic community. The well being of
species, including human beings, is something to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These methodologies have the possibility to act as the groundwork for official policy solutions. This
aspect sets Taylor apart from other environmental ethicists who tend to remain the abstract realm. In
terms of his approaches, for me I see the most applicability in the principle of minimum wrong. Many
times, the interests of humans and nonhumans are directly competing with each other. This, in our
current state, seems unavoidable. But if we approach these situations with the minimum wrong
mentality, we can hopefully search for the most environmentally beneficial solutions and avoid
ecological catastrophe. This principle is especially important due to the fact that we are still not fully
aware about how the systems of plants and animals work. For example there have been movements to
assign plants specifically some sentience and mentality, however these movements have been
traditionally denied (Plants as Persons). Especially with experiments as demonstrated in Plant
Thinking that identified existential features of plant behavior and the vegetal heritage of human
thought, now more than ever we need to respect non biotic creatures as they may be more
intellectually complex than we have

Hrm 531 Week 4 Paper
The LV team is eager to learn what statistical significance is and why it s an important construct in the
study and use of inferential statistics.
Good Morning LV Team,
The last few weeks we covered descriptive statistic: the central tendency, variability, correlation and Z
score. Today s session is a little bit different, we will be talking about statistical significance.
Statistical significance is the level of risk one is willing to take to reject or accept a null hypothesis
while it is true and it separate random error from systematic error. When doing a study or research, the
statistical significance shows that the difference obtained were not caused by chance. Inferential
statistics, the T test, partition noise from bias by studying a random sample than the population in
which we are interested and from the results we infer. The advantage of using sample than a
population, it is convenient, saves time, energy and money because n is smaller than population and
above all it helps to control systematic and random errors. When we are making a conclusion, we
should have a certain confidence or probability of being right and that is called the alpha level; which

therefore, 0.01 is not practical compared to the benefit I gain from buying the California Olive Ranch

the quality was inferior, then 0.01 would be practical significance. Knowing whether the probability is
significance or practical helps us in our decision. If I want to increase the cost of X by 1cent and by
competitors have a lower price with same quality, then it is not practical to increase the cost by a
penny and lose my customer. Do you have any question before we end our

Deaf Culture

I was interested in immersing myself with this group because they are a community of people that I ve

hard being deaf or hearing impaired in some ways. As myself, I learned that most people feel
uncomfortable when meeting a Deaf person for the first time and this is very normal. When we
communicate with people, we generally don t have to think about the process. When faced with a Deaf

The deaf culture/community stands for shared beliefs, values, and behaviors of deaf or hard of hearing
people who use sign language as a primary means of communication and who are members of local
deaf communities. Historically, communities of deaf people have existed in most countries of the
world, each with a unique cultural heritage, and often, a distinct sign language.
In the United States, culturally deaf people are joined together by a common language (American Sign
Language, or ASL), a common history, and many common traditions. Most culturally deaf people are
deaf or hard of hearing from birth or a young age. They also grow up using sign language for most of
their lives. Between 21 million and 28 million people in the United States are hard of hearing or deaf.
However, only a relatively small number of people (between 100,000 and 200,000) consider
themselves culturally deaf. Most other deaf people either lose their hearing after childhood or grow up
without using sign as their primary language.
Culturally deaf people live throughout the United States. Particularly large communities of culturally
deaf people are found in and around such cities as Chicago, Illinois; New York City; San Francisco,
California; and Washington, D.C. Although they may not live together in the same neighborhoods,
they frequently socialize with one another and meet together at sign language events. Culturally deaf

Literature Review On Customer Satisfaction
Literature review:
Customer satisfaction has been a famous topic in marketing practice and study research since Cardozo
s (1965) earlyl study of customer effort, demands and satisfaction. In spite of many try to measure and
explain customer satisfaction, there still does not show to be a accord regarding its explanation (Giese
and Cote, 2000). Customer satisfaction is typically outline as a old used estimate judgment concerning
a specific product or service (Gundersen, Heide and Olsson, 1996). It is the answer of an estimate
process that against pre purchase requirements with perceptions of performance during and after the

Zeithaml (1987) defines perceived quality as the consumer s judgment about an entity s overall
excellence or superiority . Stevens and et al (1995) describe it as, perceived service quality is a
function of the interaction among three independent variables: normative expectations, predictive
expectations, and actual service quality. The lower the expectations the consumers have about what
should happen, the better their perceptions of the actual service. And the higher their expectations
about what will happen, the better their perceptions of the actual service . Whereas, Oliver (1981)
gives the definition of satisfaction as, it is the highlighted psychological state resulting when the
emotion surrounding contadict expectations is coupled with the consumer s prior feelings about the
consumption experience (p.27).
The model is derived from the satisfaction literature that, contrary to the value literature, defines
customer satisfaction as the primary and direct link to outcome measures (e.g., Anderson and Fornell,

A Brief Note On Employment Non Discrimination Act
Employment Non Discrimination Act
Researchers show that anywhere from 15% to 43% percent of LGBT have encountered some variety
of unfairness and harassment in the workplace (Center Progress, 2011). Further, 8 % to 17 % of LGBT
state being passed over for employment or fired due to their sexual orientation. Ten percent to 28
percent experienced a negative performance review or were overlooked for a promotion due to being
gay. Moreover, 7 % to 41 % of gays faced harassment, abuse, or antigay vandalism on the job.
Transgenders persevere through high rates of employment injustice and harassment at work. In a
current national survey, an astonishing 90 % of transgender individuals depicted some harassment or
abuse on the job. Approximately half of transgender individuals also describe experiencing an adverse
employment result due to their gender identity. This entails being disregarded for employment (44 %),
getting terminated (26 %), and being denied a promotion (23 %).
Historical Background
The recommended Employment Non Discrimination Act ( Library of Congress, n.d.) would shield
private and public workers from employment unfairness by perceived or actual sexual orientation and
gender identity. Employment Non Discrimination Act is practically identical to Title VII of the Civil
Rights Act of 1964, which already secures workers by race, color, religion, sex, and political origin,
and additionally the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which ensures individuals against

Rhetorical Analysis Of Chief Powhatan
A leader has many responsibilities as a role model and caretaker for their people. Facing hard
challenges and knowing how to deal with them is a part of being a great leader all of which are Chief
Powhatan showed. Chief Powhatan whose proper name was Wahunsenacawh, was the superior chief
of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of Algonquian speaking Virginia Indians in the Tidewater region of
Virginia at the time English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607. In his address to Captain John
Smith Chief Powhatan expresses how he desires peace between the settlers and the Tsenacommacah.
He utilizes distinct rhetorical elements such as rhetorical questions, diction and argumentation to
further support his view on what he desired to occur between his people and the English settlers.
Chief Powhatan begins to address his statement by using rhetorical questions in order to support his
claim of peace. For example in lines 5 through 7 Powhatan says Why should you take by force that
from us which you can have by love? Why should you destroy us who have provided you with food?
What can you get by war? Obviously Powhatan doesn t expect Captain John Smith to answer his
questions but he uses this in order to create a growing tension that drives a questioning mentality
about whether using force is the best method when love is another alternative. He also recounts on
how it is unwise and unethical to break ties with the people who have fed and given shelter to the
settlers. Without them the settlers would be starving and freezing to death turning to barbaric methods
of survival. In line 9, he continues to support his claim by saying what is the cause of this jealousy? ,
this is important because the settlers became envious of how the Tsenacommacah were so well
developed, having shelter, and food. Having these benefits over the settlers Powhatan came to the
conclusion that the settlers would attempt to pilfer all that the Tsenacommacah had acquired. With this
in mind Powhatan decides to express his desire for peace so that neither side would eventually aim for
violence from lines 9 through 15.
Chief Powhatan continues to enhance his argument by using diction to add more emotion and meaning
to the message he is trying to convey.

Fermentation Of Yeast Lab Report
The objective of this study is to show the process of fermentation of yeast and the cellular respiration
rate that is found in the mitochondria. The first part of the experiment tested fermentation of yeast
through the production of CO2 under certain circumstances. Four different food sources were used:
glucose, sucrose, starch, and H2O. The temperature varied from 37oC to 4oC and measured on a 5
minute interval. We predicted that the glucose on the highest temperature would produce the most
CO2 bubbles. In the alcohol fermentation process glucose is initially used, we predicted that the
increase in glucose would produce the most CO2. The second part of the experiment, cellular
respiration was measured from mitochondria found in isolated lima beans. This was done to examine
the citric acid cycle that takes place in the mitochondria. Within the citric acid cycle, succinate must
be converted to fumarate. The experiment tested the reaction rate of the succinate with the varying
mixtures that contained DPIP, a buffer, succinate and the mitochondrial suspension. These mixtures
were placed inside the spectrometer where transmittance was measured. We predicted that solution 3
would have the lowest rate of reaction. This is because solution 3 contained the most succinate as well
as an considerable amount of the mitochondrial suspension in the same solution. ... Show more

  • 3. Rule of Law Basmah Elahi Rule of Law London International Programs, UG Law, Public Law Essay 2. The Rule of Law, enforced by the courts, is the ultimate controlling factor on which our constitution is based. Discuss. The rule of law is one of the fundamental principles of UK s unwritten or uncodified constitution .The key idea of the rule of law is that the law should apply equally to all, rulers and ruled alike. This in the words of the 19 century constitution expert, A.V.Diecy ensures a government of law and not a government of men . The alternative to the rule of law is there for arbitrary government. In this way, the rule of law establishes the relationship between government and the people. AS John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Law Is Always Applied Disputes must be resolved by the application of the law rather than by other means. This means that there must be a certainty of punishment for breaches of law law cannot apply in certain circumstances, but not in others. By the same token, there should be punishment only for breaches of law people should not be penalized except through the due process of law. However, concerns have been expressed about the extent to which this principle applies in the UK; * Not all crimes are reported and therefore legally addressed ( this applies, for instance, in the case of most rapes) * As polices resources are limited many crimes are not detected ( for example , speeding offences) * Trial by the media means that people may be punished without legal proceeding having taken, or, perhaps, despite being acquitted. 4. Legal Redress Is Available Through The Courts If people s rights have been infringed (whether by other citizens, organizations or the state,) they should be able to protect themselves through the law. For many legal experts and a growing body of senior judges this implies that the law should defend fundamental human rights .This is the aspect of the rule of law that safeguards the individuals from the state. However, concerns have been expressed about the extent to which this principle applies in the UK: * There is no entrenched bill of right to protect fundamental human rights * The Human Rights ... • 5. European Colonization in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay No Critique of European Colonization in The Tempest Since the 1960s, several critics have found a critique of colonialism in their respective readings of Shakespeare s The Tempest. The most radical of these analyses takes Prospero to be a European invader of the magical but primitive land that he comes to rule, using his superior knowledge to enslave its original inhabitants, most notably Caliban, and forcing them to do his bidding. While the textual clues concerning the geographic location of Prospero s island are ambiguous and vague, there is a prominent references to the Bermoothes. We know that shortly before he wrote his final play, Shakespeare read a contemporary travel account of the Virginia Company s 1609 expedition to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just as Native American tribes would come to distinguish between colonizers from different nations, e.g., favoring the French over the British or vice versa, Caliban becomes disenchanted with Trinculo as a master and proclaims that he will only serve Stephano. For his part, like some great father protecting his children from a European rival, Stephano rebukes Trinculo for his mistreatment of Caliban, saying that the poor monster s my subject, and he shall not suffer indignity (III, ii., ll.36 37). All of this closely resembles some aspects of European colonialist stereotypes of the New World s peoples and of their historical subjugation of Indians for their own good. If Shakespeare s play does comment upon European exploration and colonization in the Western Hemisphere, however, The Tempest does not contain a critique of exploitation, but, instead, an apology for it. Caliban was initially treated as an ignorant child and only put under wraps after he attempted to force himself upon the completely innocent Miranda. The charge of rape is made more credible in having Miranda pass judgment upon Caliban whom she calls an Abhorr d slave (I, ii., l.352). Unlike our current understanding of European colonialism, Prospero puts Caliban in chains because he has earned the status of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of Game Of Thrones Game of Thrones is a show that I have recently started watching. I usually don t watch television shows of this genre, but this one is very entertaining. Game of Thrones is a good fantasy drama because of the variety of settings, character development, and the suspense within the show. It is important for a fantasy drama to have a variety of settings or change of scenery every so often because this adds more to the show and keeps viewers from becoming bored. In Game of Thrones there are many different settings showed. In this show, there are many characters who believe they are the one true king or queen. The plot of the show is the conquest of these different characters to take their place on the Iron Throne as the king or queen, hence the name Game of Thrones. The many different characters and showing the story of their journeys is what allows for the many different settings. The show shows seven different kingdoms, there is the North Kingdom, Kingdom of Mountain and Vale, Kingdom of Isles and Rivers, Kingdom of the Rock, Kingdom of the Stormlands, Kingdom of the Reach and the Principality of Dorne. Scenes take place in each one of the settings listed and many other settings in places between the kingdoms. Another important quality of a good fantasy drama is showing character development. Character development allows viewers to watch the characters grow and shows more than one side of the character, this gives the characters more depth and makes them more interesting and ... • 7. Jane Eyre by Emily Bronte ... what mystery, that broke out, now in fire and now in blood, at the deadest hours of the night? What creature was it, that masked an ordinary woman s face and shape, uttered the voice, now of a mocking demon, and anon of a carrion seeking bird of prey? (Brontë 221). A brief synopsis of Charlotte Brontë s novel, Jane Eyre, is present in this short quote, which describes the mystery that is present within the novel. As well as its gothic sensation, romance is present as well, giving the novel its feminine characteristics. Foreshadowing is a main aspect which helps prolong the suspense in the novel. The element of foreshadowing helps the reader foresee the upcoming events in the novel. These gothic elements create a mysterious plot within the novel, which escalates during the climax. Novels in the Gothic Romance genre include many mysterious events, as well as a twisted love story. Jane Eyre is classified as a Gothic Romance due to its gloomy setting, elements of mystery and suspense, and supernatural components. In like manner, Jane Eyre contained a gloomy setting that follows throughout the novel. The first main indication of Jane Eyre being a Gothic Romance was when Jane was living at Gateshead Hall. When Jane was sent to the red room, imagery was presented which links the room to the idea of death. . . .. it was in this chamber he breathed his last; . . . and, since that day, a sense of dreary consecration had guarded it from frequent intrusion (Brontë 8). • 8. My Country Assessment Of Syria My country assessment of Syria contains much of the recent history, but I believe to truly understand what is happening today, we must understand how historically Syrian politics, geopolitical regional experiences and culture has come into play in the world understanding of a proud, but fractured Country. In this assessment I will tackle modern history, political and insurgent threats to the region and to the United States foreign missions as well as short and long term analysis on the direction of the country and U.S. policies going forward. Syria is one of the oldest civilizations in history, with art, written language, and religious activities dating back to the time of Mesopotamia. It has been the dagger s edge in the Levant, splitting between western culture, and eastern religious ideology for the last two millennia. Significant religious acts in religious lore such as Paul the apostle converting to Christianity on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1 43) also transpired in Syria. The country has been conquered numerous times; the mix of art, religions, governments and culture have changed and left scars on the country. In this manner Syria is as diverse of a place as many European cities at their cultural height. Modern Syria presents many challenges. President Basher Al Assad has ruled since 2000, and ruled with an iron fist. He has consistently put down uprisings along the northern border with Turkey and western border with Lebanon. I included Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because it s my favorite out of the entire series, both book and movie. Harry Potter was such a huge part of my life while I was growing up. It was this universal cultural phenomenon that I was so excited to be part of. I grew up reading the series and being so excited every time the next movie or the next book came out and I sorely regret not attending a Harry Potter premiere when I had the chance. Notes from Underground and Grendel were books that were assigned reading in high school but that I greatly enjoyed. Grendel had such an impact on me and it s still my absolute favorite book of all time. I cite Grendel as the starting point of my foray into existentialism and philosophy in general. Grendel has that simple yet profound language that really resonates with me. Existentialism is a Humanism and The Sorrows of Young Werther were also books that were assigned reading but in college. I enjoyed both very much despite their differing forms: Existentialism is a Humanism being based on a lecture and The Sorrows of Young Werther being an epistolary novel. ... The first couple weeks were exciting and new, we visited a lot of tourist sites and we knew our life in Chicago was going to be fun and exciting. Maria is a thirteen year old girl who was involved in a hit and run car accident that left her in a vegetative state. When one is in a vegetative state they are unconscious. They have no awareness themselves or the environment around them and are unable to make decisions for themselves. Maria has tubes attached to her that are sustaining her life by providing her with nutrition and hydration. No one knows for certain if she will recover from the persistent vegetative state, but the prognosis does not look well. Maria does not have a living to assist her family and friends with decision making, and they are divided on the decision whether they should remove the tubes that are providing her with nutrition and hydration, or leave them in place for a little longer. Removing the tubes that are providing her with nutrition and hydration will contribute to her death. My reasoned opinion: I believe that Maria s family and friends should leave the tubes in place as the doctors, do not know if she will recover from the vegetative state or not. Also, if they remove the tubes too soon they will not know if she would have recovered or not. There are several stories about patients who had life threatening injuries who were expected to die and did not the response to treatment being administered right away but suddenly surprises doctors with their recovery. • 12. The Continuity Of Life Chapter 1 Summary Chapter 9 The Continuity of Life: Cellular Reproduction Summary (184) Reproduction is important for the survival of all living things. Without a mechanism for reproduction, life would come to an end. There are two types of reproduction to learn in elementary grades, asexual and sexual reproduction. Many teachers are afraid of discussing reproduction, but if presented as a factual lesson it is easy for the students to understand the principles without the standard giggles. Asexual reproduction refers to simple cell division that produces an exact duplicate of an organism. There are many different types of asexual reproduction which can be discussed to show students the variability of modes of reproduction. Some single celled organisms reproduce by simple cell division, this is called binary fission. In this manner, the mother cell simply splits in half producing two daughter cells. Some cells reproduce by unequal division of the cells, this is called budding. In this process the bud forms as a knob on the mother cell. The nucleus divides and identical parts go to the mother cell and the bud. The bud may grow until it is as large as the mother cell and can form buds of its own. In some cases buds ... In this paper we will discuss what quantum cryptography is and what makes it most secure and unbreakable. Introduction All our classical computer cryptography methods are basically based on some mathematical calculations which are quiet easy to implement in one direction but very difficult to process in the other direction. As RSA(Rivest Shamir Adleman) algorithm which is one of the first practicable and most famous public key cryptosystems, RSA, is based on the technique of factoring large numbers which makes it secure. Difficulty in factoring increases with number of digits in RSA key. For example, a 128 digit number would take millions of years to factor with current computers. There are still limitations in classical cryptography, it is purely mathematical and information cannot be separated from its physical representation. In Classical physics, we use binary form to store and process the data. In the 1980s, C.Bennet, P.Benioff, R.Feynman and others observed that new and very powerful ways of information processing are possible with quantum mechanical systems. This gave birth to the concept of quantum computing. We have algorithms such as Shor s Algorithm, a quantum computer can break a very large number into its prime factors otherwise which could take millions of years to be solved. The fact that the Green Knight made up of green demonstrates a very important relation between him and the world, revealed through his weapons of choice such as his holly branch and axe. Meanwhile, red and gold, strongly associated with Gawain, contrast the Green Knight s green and gold. The color red represents love and life (blood) while gold represents wealth and prosperity. The colors serve as a wonderful visual to Gawain s character very noble. The role of the temptress, a character archetype identified by Joseph Campbell, tests the moral values of the hero in the hero s journey. In mythology, sirens or nymphs often depicted the temptress, but in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the temptress took the form of a human seductress. In the poem, as Sir Bertilak sets off to hunt every morning, the lovely Lady Bertilak, otherwise known as Sir Bertilak s wife, pays Sir Gawain a visit. But if we approach these situations with the minimum wrong mentality, we can hopefully search for the most environmentally beneficial solutions and avoid ecological catastrophe. This principle is especially important due to the fact that we are still not fully aware about how the systems of plants and animals work. For example there have been movements to assign plants specifically some sentience and mentality, however these movements have been traditionally denied (Plants as Persons). Especially with experiments as demonstrated in Plant Thinking that identified existential features of plant behavior and the vegetal heritage of human thought, now more than ever we need to respect non biotic creatures as they may be more intellectually complex than we have ... • 30. Hrm 531 Week 4 Paper The LV team is eager to learn what statistical significance is and why it s an important construct in the study and use of inferential statistics. Good Morning LV Team, The last few weeks we covered descriptive statistic: the central tendency, variability, correlation and Z score. Today s session is a little bit different, we will be talking about statistical significance. Statistical significance is the level of risk one is willing to take to reject or accept a null hypothesis while it is true and it separate random error from systematic error. When doing a study or research, the statistical significance shows that the difference obtained were not caused by chance. Inferential statistics, the T test, partition noise from bias by studying a random sample than the population in which we are interested and from the results we infer. The advantage of using sample than a population, it is convenient, saves time, energy and money because n is smaller than population and above all it helps to control systematic and random errors. When we are making a conclusion, we should have a certain confidence or probability of being right and that is called the alpha level; which the risk you are willing to ... It depends on the context and circumstance, therefore, 0.01 is not practical compared to the benefit I gain from buying the California Olive Ranch brand which is lower in price with better quality (previous study). However, if studies had shown that the quality was inferior, then 0.01 would be practical significance. Knowing whether the probability is significance or practical helps us in our decision. If I want to increase the cost of X by 1cent and by competitors have a lower price with same quality, then it is not practical to increase the cost by a penny and lose my customer. • 33. Deaf Culture Essays Deaf Culture Carolyn Mason I was interested in immersing myself with this group because they are a community of people that I ve often wondered about. I ve always wondered about the way they communicate with others and was it hard being deaf or hearing impaired in some ways. As myself, I learned that most people feel uncomfortable when meeting a Deaf person for the first time and this is very normal. When we communicate with people, we generally don t have to think about the process. When faced with a Deaf person, we are uncertain which rules apply. We don t know where to look, or how fast or loud to speak. When the Deaf person gives us a look of confusion, we don t know how to correct the problem. Accept the fact that your initial ... The deaf culture/community stands for shared beliefs, values, and behaviors of deaf or hard of hearing people who use sign language as a primary means of communication and who are members of local deaf communities. Historically, communities of deaf people have existed in most countries of the world, each with a unique cultural heritage, and often, a distinct sign language. In the United States, culturally deaf people are joined together by a common language (American Sign Language, or ASL), a common history, and many common traditions. Most culturally deaf people are deaf or hard of hearing from birth or a young age. They also grow up using sign language for most of their lives. Between 21 million and 28 million people in the United States are hard of hearing or deaf. However, only a relatively small number of people (between 100,000 and 200,000) consider themselves culturally deaf. Most other deaf people either lose their hearing after childhood or grow up without using sign as their primary language. Culturally deaf people live throughout the United States. Particularly large communities of culturally deaf people are found in and around such cities as Chicago, Illinois; New York City; San Francisco, California; and Washington, D.C. Although they may not live together in the same neighborhoods, they frequently socialize with one another and meet together at sign language events. Culturally deaf people are recognized by the ... In spite of many try to measure and explain customer satisfaction, there still does not show to be a accord regarding its explanation (Giese and Cote, 2000). Customer satisfaction is typically outline as a old used estimate judgment concerning a specific product or service (Gundersen, Heide and Olsson, 1996). It is the answer of an estimate process that against pre purchase requirements with perceptions of performance during and after the consuming know how (Oliver, 1980). Zeithaml (1987) defines perceived quality as the consumer s judgment about an entity s overall excellence or superiority . Stevens and et al (1995) describe it as, perceived service quality is a function of the interaction among three independent variables: normative expectations, predictive expectations, and actual service quality. The lower the expectations the consumers have about what should happen, the better their perceptions of the actual service. And the higher their expectations about what will happen, the better their perceptions of the actual service . Whereas, Oliver (1981) gives the definition of satisfaction as, it is the highlighted psychological state resulting when the emotion surrounding contadict expectations is coupled with the consumer s prior feelings about the consumption experience (p.27). The model is derived from the satisfaction literature that, contrary to the value literature, defines customer satisfaction as the primary and direct link to outcome measures (e.g., Anderson and Fornell, 1994; Andreassen, 1998; Athanassopoulos, 1999; Bolton and Lemon, 1999; Clow and Beisel, 1995; Ennew and Binks, 1999; Fornell et al., 1996; Hallowell, 1996; Mohr and Bitner, 1995; Spreng, Mackenzie, and Olshavsky, ... In a current national survey, an astonishing 90 % of transgender individuals depicted some harassment or abuse on the job. Approximately half of transgender individuals also describe experiencing an adverse employment result due to their gender identity. This entails being disregarded for employment (44 %), getting terminated (26 %), and being denied a promotion (23 %). • 37. Rhetorical Analysis Of Chief Powhatan A leader has many responsibilities as a role model and caretaker for their people. Facing hard challenges and knowing how to deal with them is a part of being a great leader all of which are Chief Powhatan showed. Chief Powhatan whose proper name was Wahunsenacawh, was the superior chief of Tsenacommacah, an alliance of Algonquian speaking Virginia Indians in the Tidewater region of Virginia at the time English settlers landed at Jamestown in 1607. In his address to Captain John Smith Chief Powhatan expresses how he desires peace between the settlers and the Tsenacommacah. He utilizes distinct rhetorical elements such as rhetorical questions, diction and argumentation to further support his view on what he desired to occur between his people and the English settlers. Chief Powhatan begins to address his statement by using rhetorical questions in order to support his claim of peace. For example in lines 5 through 7 Powhatan says Why should you take by force that from us which you can have by love? Why should you destroy us who have provided you with food? What can you get by war? Obviously Powhatan doesn t expect Captain John Smith to answer his questions but he uses this in order to create a growing tension that drives a questioning mentality about whether using force is the best method when love is another alternative. He also recounts on how it is unwise and unethical to break ties with the people who have fed and given shelter to the settlers. Without them the settlers would be starving and freezing to death turning to barbaric methods of survival. In line 9, he continues to support his claim by saying what is the cause of this jealousy? , this is important because the settlers became envious of how the Tsenacommacah were so well developed, having shelter, and food. Having these benefits over the settlers Powhatan came to the conclusion that the settlers would attempt to pilfer all that the Tsenacommacah had acquired. With this in mind Powhatan decides to express his desire for peace so that neither side would eventually aim for violence from lines 9 through 15. Chief Powhatan continues to enhance his argument by using diction to add more emotion and meaning to the message he is trying to convey. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Fermentation Of Yeast Lab Report The objective of this study is to show the process of fermentation of yeast and the cellular respiration rate that is found in the mitochondria. The first part of the experiment tested fermentation of yeast through the production of CO2 under certain circumstances. Four different food sources were used: glucose, sucrose, starch, and H2O. The temperature varied from 37oC to 4oC and measured on a 5 minute interval. We predicted that the glucose on the highest temperature would produce the most CO2 bubbles. In the alcohol fermentation process glucose is initially used, we predicted that the increase in glucose would produce the most CO2. The second part of the experiment, cellular respiration was measured from mitochondria found in isolated lima beans. This was done to examine the citric acid cycle that takes place in the mitochondria. Within the citric acid cycle, succinate must be converted to fumarate. The experiment tested the reaction rate of the succinate with the varying mixtures that contained DPIP, a buffer, succinate and the mitochondrial suspension. These mixtures were placed inside the spectrometer where transmittance was measured. We predicted that solution 3 would have the lowest rate of reaction. This is because solution 3 contained the most succinate as well as an considerable amount of the mitochondrial suspension in the same solution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
