The ultimate goal of ethical theory is to achieve human dignity, peace, happiness, and well being. But
these goals are somewhat vague and can be interpreted differently in different situations under certain
circumstances. So to make the things less complex, we try to define a sphere of freedom in which
people can act and make decisions freely without interference from others. So natural rights defines
ethical theory as a set of actions that respects fundamental rights of others, including the rights to life,
liberty, and property. Natural rights can be categorized in two different

The Watchman Character Traits
Dr. Manhattan
In The Watchman, Dr. Manhattan is a superman who exhibits some very human qualities, while
having other qualities that set him apart from society. At the beginning of The Watchman, Dr.
Manhattan is a very neutral character. He does not do things on a whim; all of his actions are logic
based. He appears to have complete control over the physical realm, including time, though he seems
to struggle with interpersonal relationships. Though Dr. Manhattan changes very little during the
course of The Watchman, the description of his transformation lends valuable insight into his
character.
The strengths of Dr. Manhattan are many; he has almost complete control over matter. The most
notable uses being when he wins the Vietnam War, when he creates a glass masterpiece on Mars, and
when, at the end of the story, he kills Rorschach. This ability, though not a true character trait, helps to
set the scene for the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Manhattan is an extremely rational person and emotions do not have any effect on his decisions. When
Rorschach upsets the Silk Spectre, Dr. Manhattan simply removes him from the room by teleportation.
His attitude of doing the most rational thing is again demonstrated when, towards the end of the story,
he kills Rorschach, at his request, to prevent him from spreading the truth. However, between these
two events there is a subtle shift in Dr. Manhattan away from looking only at immediate change to
doing something with a more permanent effect. This subtle shift in his personality shows that he has
developed a greater depth of rational thought. Dr. Manhattan s last act of leaving the earth forever
completes this transformation. He realises that right course of action is to leave, so he leaves. This self
imposed exile indicates a movement away from his humanness and towards a more god like

The Montana Tech Math Bowl
For my senior project, I choose to do the Montana Tech Math Bowl. With the support of my fellow
senior math majors I became the President of the Math Club. Dr. Laurie Battle then became the
advisor to math club and my project. The primary goal The primary goal of this project was to
examine the math bowl and try to improve upon it. After three years of being a member of the
Montana tech math club I was given the opportunity to run it. So, with the resources available to the
math club, I attempted to organize and promote another math bowl completions. Through running this
event I hoped to gain insight on short coming that the math club faced. One of these was the lack of
participation from the math club members. The second main goal that would greatly improve upon the
math bowl is a reference book . There were no previous tests, flyers, or records from the earlier math
bowls. I had nothing to help me design the math bowl. Therefore, a reference book for the math bowl
of fall 2016 will be made containing documents used in the math bowl. Hopefully this can provide a
benchmark to help improve future math bowls at Montana tech. summary of methods used, results,
and analysis The first step to organizing the math bowl involved organizing the math club. I obtained a
list of potential members from faculty members. I also personally visited the freshman math seminar
class in attempt to recruit new members. I started with 12 potential members and ended with 5

Theme Of Justice In The Merchant Of Venice
The theme of justice in Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice is both controversial and complicated
towards the content of whether justice is served. Justice of law and justice of morality are illustrated in
the play, but in a closer examination hypocrisy and lawlessness are present as well. I will be trying to
analyze the theme of justice taking under consideration the themes of religion, racism and Anti
Semitism of that era. To be more specific, Shylock is a Jewish merchant whose legal rights have been
violated, as Antonio was incapable of paying his debt to him. Seeking justice, Shylock goes to court
demanding his pound of flesh from Antonio, in order for his bond to be satisfied. Obviously, Shylock
seeks vengeance against Antonio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One would expect merciful actions to match noble words. One would be sorely disappointed. Portia s
inconsistency between word and deed is vast. The gulf between her preaching about mercy dropping
as the gentle rain from heaven and her vengeful punishment of Shylock is unbridgeably wide. (45)
Portia s hypocrisy is also obvious in Act 1 Scene 2 when the Prince of Morocco comes in order to
choose the right casket and marry her. Though she argues to be a Christian and an obedient daughter,
she reveals her racist beliefs saying to her maid: If he have the condition of a saint and the complexion
of a devil, I had rather he should shrive me than wive me. (The Merchant of Venice act 1 scene 2, 33.)
A true Christian is not supposed to criticize another person because of his skin color. Therefore, her
obedience to her father s law is hypocritical as well, because she admits that she d rather die than
marry the Prince of Morocco, a suitor that according to her father s will could be her future

Contrasting the Gods in Homer’s Odyssey and the Biblical...
Contrasting the Gods in Homer s Odyssey and the Biblical Book of Exodus
Many authors have employed the religious beliefs of their cultures in literature. The deities contained
in Homer s Odyssey and in the Biblical book of Exodus reflect the nature of the gods in their
respective societies. Upon examination of these two works, there are three major areas where the gods
of the Greek epic seem to directly contrast the nature of the God of the Israelites: the way problems
are solved, the prestige and status that separates the divine from the masses, and the extent of power
among the immortal beings.
Before any logical argument regarding the contrasting of two works can begin, a foundation must be
established that in some way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that the people do what is commanded is evidence of the recognition of Yahweh as their
divine God, and it is a testament to the authority they ascribe to Him. The existence and recognition of
the authority of these deities does not provide the only cornerstone for this argument. To discuss the
relationship between the divine and mankind, an observation and analysis of the interaction between
the two realms is imperative. In The Odyssey, many interactions between the gods and men are seen.
One of these scenes illustrates Athena s visit to Telmakhos, at the end of which she put new spirit in
him, a new dream of his father (1. 359 360) in order that Telemakhos might not give up hope of
Odysseus return. It is this type of interaction that gives insight into the relations between the divine
and humans, and that provides a framework on which to weave the examination of those relations. An
example of this type of interaction in Exodus is found in the form of a burning bush: When, the Lord
saw that he [Moses] had gone over to look [at the burning bush], God called to him from within the
bush, Moses! Moses! And Moses said, Here I am. Do not come any closer, God said, Take off your
sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground (Exodus 3:4 5).
The interaction between Yahweh and Moses occurs many times throughout the book of Exodus, as do
other interactions between this God of the Hebrews and

Castro Marxism Essay
Fidel Castro got interested in the idea of Marxism when he wed his first wife and was exposed to a
certain type of posh lifestyle, that he barely saw as a child. So, he was very influenced by the people in
this class, they re government views and beliefs rubbed off on him easily: so he decided to run for a
seat on the Cuban congress. One of the beliefs that Castro absorbed was Marxism, the idea that every
single piece of written human history has been divided by economical classes and every progression in
history has happened due to economic struggle. Also, communism will become the norm because the
of this struggle and capitalism will no longer be needed. Well, the government that was giving Castro

agriculture but he dissembled all U.S. businesses and farms in Cuba. He was stepping on U.S. s toes
when he decided to have strong relations with Russia. The U.S. wanted Castro out of power, so the
U.S. constructed the Bay of Pigs invasion, a CIA attempt to use anti Castro exiles to use a surprise
attack against Castro, but they were outnumbered by Castro s troops. By 1962, the U.S. placed an
embargo on Cuba and all trade, travel, and business with Cuba was cut off. In the same year, Castro
allowed Russia to put missile sites in Cuba. Castro did this so he can threaten the U.S. The United
States surrounded Cuba to block off any deliveries from Russia. This led to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Over years, Cuban people suffered from food shortages and no personal freedoms. No country wanted
to trade with Cuba because of the bad blood between them and the U.S., so Cuba s economy suffered
but Russia was keeping them afloat. But after the Soviet Union s fall, Cuba suffered greatly. But
besides that, Cubans has an excellent educational system and universal health

Essay about Wal-Mart Formal Case Analysis-Swot
Wal Mart Formal Case analysis June 2007 SWOT Analysis The SWOT Analysis is a strategic
planning method used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a
business, in order to reach its objectives. Wal Mart objective is to always offer low prices and to
become the number one largest retailer in the world. Strengths refer to the attributes of the
organization that help achieving its objectives. First of all, Wal Mart is one of the largest retailers in
the world. Its size it allows Wal Mart to control suppliers, to control competitors and to open stores
wherever they want. Their international presence contributes to its power. Having the second largest

As well, the world s economy is not at its best moments, people become more preoccupied about
price, and use this as the number one shopping criteria. On top, Wal Mart has the ability to diversify
their products and service offerings. They could add travel agencies, kindergartens, cleaning services,
tax services and much more. Another good opportunity is to improve in the areas they were criticized
before, such as employee benefits and medical coverage, employees wages and even environmental
issues as pollution. Wal Mart could also focus on its online sales, as it is becoming the new shopping
trend. Many opportunities await this retailer in the future. Threats refer to the external conditions
which could damage to the business s performance. A major threat to Wal Mart s expansion is its
negligence to adapt to local markets. This will automatically lead to negative response from the
populations and low sales. They might believe that their culture can apply everywhere, but failures as
Germany proves them wrong. The slowing economy decreases people s incremental income
decreasing the number of sales. Moreover, locally and globally Wal Mart can become the target of
competitors. Mergers and acquisitions among opponents can pose a serious problem to its expansion.
For example if Target and K mart merge they might become the world s largest retailer. Also, RFID
could be a threat to

Manichaean Dualism In The Hobbit
J.R.R Tolkien s writing consists of a variety of different mythological influences ranging from Greco
Roman, Norse, and Scandinavian. Thought these sources do shape the narrative of Tolkien s writing
and of Middle Earth as a whole, most prominent inspirations of his mythos is derived from Christian
theology in the Bible. Traces of biblical influence can be found throughout The Hobbit, The Lord of
the Rings trilogy and The Silmarillion, particularly in each of these texts conception of good and evil.
Some have argued that the morality presented in his works are akin to Manichaean dualism. In this
essay, I shall argue that though Tolkien s position on the dichotomies of good and evil sometimes does
delve into the realm of Manichaean dualism but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

situations and choices in which he could use the One Ring. At times he does fall into temptation and

Essay On School Uniforms
Should our school have school uniforms or not? The topic of school uniforms is an interesting topic
due to the many views that people have on them. This issue is important because it could prevent the
issue of bullying. It also could also make teens get to know each other based on character, rather than
appearance. Many teens are judged based on how they look or what they are wearing. The students are
the ones most affected by this issue. My claim is that school uniforms should be enforced because it
could prevent students from bullying. Having uniforms could also help teens stop judging and labeling
people by how they look or dress. People should get to know each other based on how they and who
they are as a person. If everyone wore the same thing there could be a less tendency to judge others
based on what they wear. Teens should learns that their individuality comes from within, not
necessarily from what they wear or how they look. Some reasons and evidence that supports my claim
are that studies have shown that most of the time the root of bullying is how another dresses. I have
noticed that teenagers (myself included) tend to judge someone based on how they choose to dress. If
someone does not dress up to standards, people tend to think they are weird or they should be avoided.
This shows that people tend to focus on how someone dresses more that how they act. One can dress
up to standards, but they could also be a really mean person. This could go the other way as

Franz Kafka Essay
In his parable Before the Law, Franz Kafka suggests that obstacles that one faces in life can either be
used to mold one s success or bring about one s failure. If one can overcome challenges that they face
they grow in a unique type of way, for every individual perceives each situation in a distinct fashion.
That unique type of growth is what establishes a person s character and perception of the world.
However if one cannot overcome their obstacles, then they cut of their means for growth and are left
uninspired, forgetting any dreams or aspirations. It is through the man s interaction with the
doorkeeper, and his inability to overcome this obstacle, that eventually leads him down the path of
complacency and failure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept applies to life as well. When one overcomes their challenges, the knowledge gained from
that experience merely provides them with the necessary tools to face a more difficult situation. This
continues on until they are finally able to cope with difficulties that they initially never would have
been able to. Unfortunately the man accepts the stool that the doorkeeper offers him where he sits for
days and years. The man never gains any sort of stature, for he looses out on all of the potential
growth he could have gained by standing up to the doorkeeper. Before the man knows he has reached
a state where he is looked down upon, and questions asked of him are put indifferent, as great lords
put them. Unaware of the hole he has dug for himself, the man eventually loses total sight of his
original goal of reaching the law , and the man fixes his attention almost continuously on the
doorkeeper. He even reaches the point of begging the fleas in the doorkeeper s coat to grant him
access to The Law If only the man would have realized from the beginning that the gate was placed
there for his own personal self development. The lessons he could have learnt by pushing beyond the
initial doorkeeper would have built him into a totally new

Ancient Roman Home
It is amazing to know that the concept of architectural design to homes had already flourished even in
ancient Rome. The layout and functions of every Roman homes were intricately laid out for the
comfort of its dwellers. The pattern and designs were made susceptible to the heat of the
Mediterranean climate. Therefore, it is typical among the houses of the ancient Rome to have an
atrium and peristylium. These two parts of the Roman house were important. Its primary function is to
ventilate the corridors and rooms. This types of houses were common designs in both urban and rural
areas. On other hand, there were also big houses which refers to villas, where the rich people lived. In
addition, there were also tenement houses where poor people live, particularly to the household
workers or slaves ( The Romans web, n.d).

In conclusion, we can see among the different types of houses in the ancient Rome the distinction and
gaps among the rich, middle class and the poor in terms of their homes. Villas and high end flats are
for the rich; town houses, for the middle class and filthy and dilapidated buildings were for the poor.

The Dynamite
During the industrial revolution, many amazing inventions arose and because of them the world
changed. Some of these inventions affected the world in a positive way and solved many problems.
Yet other inventions were the cause of misery to the entire human kind. What about an invention that
caused both joy and misery? It s an invention that affects our world until this day. This invention is the
Dynamite. Let me first introduce you to the inventor of the dynamite. The dynamite was invented by
Swedish scientist Alfred Nobel in 1866. Let me now tell you how this dynamite affected the industrial
era. It was created so it can be used in construction, mining and demolition. It was used to carve in the

If you would compare the number of deaths in war before and after the dynamite, you would be
amazed. People then were sure that the country that had the dynamite was probably going to be the
strongest. European countries started competing in creating the dynamite and started selling it world
wide. You might say that this was a positive impact but because people at that time didn t quite
understand the dynamite that this trade usually ended in death. Because shipping dynamite at that time
wasn t safe, many catastrophes happened. For example, a shipment route to California blew up in
Panama, killing 60 and causing a half million dollars in damage. Nobel s own dynamite factory in
Hamburg, Germany, blew up leaving nothing but a shattered foundation and killing his brother. Later
in WW1 the dynamite became one of the popular weapons in used. Because of this dynamite,
thousands lost their lives, thousands lost their homes and millions lost their loved ones. It turned Earth
into a living hell. You might say that there were other weapons used but the creation of the dynamite
affected people psychologically. They started seeing an invention that can shatter a whole building in
seconds which led to the rising of aggression inside people. All these negative effects and we still didn
t talk about the environment. The dynamite caused many negative impacts on the environment and the
health of people. It first starts with pollution and ends up with

How long will the project take to complete? And which activities are critical? After drawing the

What will it cost to shorten the project by as many weeks as possible?
The project can be shortened by 6 weeks maximum.
Based on the crash time for 6 activities (A3 A4 A7and B2 B5 B6), we can come up with the new
numbers of weeks that each activity needs.
According to the critical path we already found, we could see that B9 is an important activity. Once it
was changed, B6 changed. So we also need
to find how A5 B3 B8 changed.
The crash of B5, B6 leaded to the change of A4 and A5 (17,21), so the crash of A3 is invalid; The
crash of B2 leaded to the change of C5, so B8 became (18,22); B2 changed B3 to (11.21). Then the
time of B9 changed to (22,30). Since the earliest time for B9 is 22 anyway, and we crashed
B5, B6 for one week each to make it s final time 21, we could cancel
B6 s crash for its higher cost.
Then we finally crash A7 for 2 weeks. so the final time for A8 was 46 followed by calculating.
The total cost to shorten the project is
A4+A7+B5+B2
=3900+7000+1700+3200=15800
Conclusion: Since no information is given of normal costs, it is not possible to provide a general

all over the place. There are shifts from scene to scene, in this case the narrator s experiences, which
only reveal certain parts of the narrator s life to the readers. As a reader, I felt like there were pieces
that I was missing from the story because of the lack of transitions. It is like someone giving you a
cake with one slice already taken out. The structure of the novel contributed to my understanding of
the story because it left many things open ended for me to conclude on my own. Additionally, the
narrative of the story was coming from one individual s point of view, Whether my reasonings were
right or wrong, it did not matter.

Designing A Seven Band Stacked Patch Antenna Design For C,...
Abstract: In this paper a seven band stacked patch antenna design for C, X and Ku band is considered.
To generate multiband frequencies micro strip stacked patch antenna is introduced. The proposed
structure is a planar structure having all the dimensions in mm and is designed by using a substrate of
FR4 having thickness 1.6 mm. This proposed antenna is having seven bands of operation. The
considered antenna consists of H slot loaded fed patch, stacked with dual U slot loaded rectangular
patch. The size of the antenna is 39.25 x 29.25 x 1.66 mm2. The patch antenna is studied and
simulated using IE3D simulator. The antenna is analyzed by circuit theory concepts to practically
verify the results. The results pertaining to various functional parameters of the multiband micro strip
patch antenna such as RL, Gain and Radiation pattern versus frequency are obtained.

I. Introduction
Every communication system is primarily focused on the usage of antenna as it plays a vital role in
transmitting and receiving the information signals. An antenna is made itself a mandate component of
communication system. The stupendous growth of wireless communication systems along with
wonderful use of radars opens a huge demand to new kind of antennas like small antennas, multi
frequency antennas, and broadband antennas [2] [1]. Planar multi resonators and

A Day At The Touro Synagogue
On Saturday morning, October 15th, 2016, my friends and I visited the Touro Synagogue. We attended
a synagogue Sabbath worship which took place for less than two hours. I was really excited and eager
because I have never experienced any ritual service before. As I first entered the small chapel, I was
struck by the beautiful, magnificent architecture of the place. It was a clean, warm place with a nice
chandelier. The upper wall is covered with glass windows that help light up the small chapel and bring
a refreshing feeling. We were given directions to obtain the service books on the shelves outside
before the ritual service began. As I went further inside the chapel, a lady greeted me with the phrase
Shabbat shalom. All the people there were friendly and greeted us with smiles. I noticed some men
wore their Kippot and Tallitot. We had some small introductions and conversations. After getting
service books, my friends and I sat in the back row of the chapel. The place was quiet with a sense of
peace and contentment. A few minutes after, the Rabbi and the Cantor came in, and the Sabbath
service began.
As this Sabbath service was my first experience, I was curious about every little thing that happens.
During the Sabbath service, the Rabbi gave us directions to follow hymn pages in the service book.

sections. We sat down in some parts and stood up in some other parts. Sometimes the

Course Learning Outcomes For English 110
As I reflect on my work at the end of this semester, I am able to see how much I have improved as a
writer. I have learned my weaknesses through peer reviews, and the feedbacks that I received from
you. This cover letter will address four of the course learning outcomes for English 110 such as, how
to write effectively using a number of rhetorical strategies and patterns, demonstrate the ability to
synthesize materials drawn from multiple sources using critical reflection and independent judgment,
write a research paper of 2,500 words, and carry out essential steps in the writing process. I enclosed
three works that I have submitted for this course which are, The Journey of a Small Town Girl, The
Wright Brothers, and my research paper titled The Dirty Dozen.
My purpose in writing the literacy narrative was to let different audiences to have a taste of what the
struggle of an immigrant is like. This was the first paper that I had to write for this class and it was the
easiest out of all. I got to express my struggles in a very unique way. During my peer review session
for this paper, I was able to see my mistakes such as verb tense agreement, word choice and awkward
phrasing. I learned to not use abbreviations throughout this piece because a mixed audience may not
be familiar with them.
I think the best part of my narrative is my introduction and conclusion. My introduction sets a

2. In the novel, Bobo is a baboon from the zoo that Mr. Pignati befriends. Mr. Pignati loves Bobo and
is really the only friend that he has other than John and Lorraine. He always goes to the zoo to feed
Bobo. I know it seems weird for a baboon that Lorraine describes as the ugliest, most vicious looking
baboon I ve ever seen in my life to be significant to the story, but Bobo is really important. Bobo is
like a son to Mr. Pignati. Every day, he always walks down to the zoo to feed Bobo, but is not a young

Knowledge Is The Measure Of All Things Essay
Matthew Smith; Phil 125w; Paper 4: Skepticism; 2 October 2015
Is Knowledge Possible? First, Theaetetus arrived at a definition that knowledge is the skills, abilities,
and activities that allow people to understand the whole discipline (6). For example, a house builder
has knowledge because he has the skills and abilities to build a house. This is not a plausible definition
of knowledge. This definition describes what one may have knowledge of. It does not give the exact
definition of knowledge. Theaetetus then explained that knowledge is perception (13). In other words,
the experiences people have are what give them knowledge. This is very closely related to Protagoras
definition of man is the measure of all things (14). Theaetetus and Protagoras both claimed man
evaluates everything, but people have different interpretations of the perceptions they see. For
example, someone might perceive an animal as a duck while someone else perceives that same object
as a rabbit. In this case, no one is wrong about the object because both perceptions are correct. This is
not a plausible definition for knowledge. One object cannot be two different things; it needs to have
consistency in order for it to be one object. Theaetetus then described knowledge as true judgment
(60). This cannot be because there are a lot of judgments. Whose judgment is the correct judgment?
Finally, Theaetetus said knowledge is true judgment with an account (80). Accounts are the

The True Lesson Of 1984
1984 is a renowned dystopian novel that depicts an oppressive, dark English society where English
socialism is fervently adopted by the central government, also known as the Big Brother. However, the
fundamental notion of this political philosophy, which is to overcome the greed, waste,
competitiveness, and inequality as described in the article The True Lessons of 1984, are distorted and
trimmed down into three sacred principles: Newspeak, Doublethink and Mutability of the past. The
incidental appearance of totalitarian dictatorship that comes with such philosophy, on the other hand,
is almost inevitable, for socialism is an ideology that essentially is against the human nature as well as
repressing the instincts. In the article, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the general public, on the other hand, there are also such treatments that are used to influence
people in the means of propaganda, espionage, and falsification. After letting Oceanian citizens deny
their own nature, the second step Big Brother takes, is to have them deny the existence of the truth.
Schlueter mentions, based upon Bacon, that Baconian science rests on the assumption that reality
conforms to the mind, not the mind to reality and remarks afterwards, This is not far from the claim
that the mind makes reality. To deny the reality, is to deny one s sanity and senses. How many in total
is two fingers plus two fingers? 3? 4? 5? As suggested by the Big Brother, it can be whatever number
one wants it to be as long as he thinks about it subjectively. People can create anything in their mind
with or without any factual information. As a result, doublethink and mutability of the past are
introduced. Since laws of nature are essentially unalterable, doublethink manages to instill a sense of
duality to it, making people believe its contradictory characters. In the book, for example, O brien
makes Winston, who have the scientific knowledge about gravity, to believe that he is actually floating
above the ground. Therefore, doublethink requires absolutely no factual information whatsoever.
Falsification of the past is the another mean that Big Brother uses to distort the truth in people s mind
by providing them with facts that have been

Essay The Role And Functions Of New Zealand Government
The New Zealand Government has made significant changes to the economy throughout the last 15
years. The operation and organisation of business activity in New Zealand has been affected by this
changing economy. All aspects of the New Zealand Government have been altered. The reason for this
change was to improve the performance by being more efficient. The key reforms are privatisation and
corporatisation of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and restructuring government agencies.
The most significant change was the election of the Labour Party in 1984, which ended the Muldoon
Administration. At this time, New Zealand was in a rut because of poor economic management by the

Some restructuring and reforms affected these sectors.
The New Zealand Government owned many enterprises such as State Insurance, Air New Zealand,
New Zealand Rail, The Bank of New Zealand, and Telecom. In 1987 most of these assets were sold.
By doing this it meant the Government could pay off large accumulated debts and allow these
companies to become more efficient. After the sale of these SOEs that the New Zealand Government
has become more efficient too, they can focus on their primary task by providing essential services.
Some of these services include public hospitals, education, benefits, and emergency relief.
From the reforms came a radical change in New Zealand trade. In 1984 the Government devalued the
New Zealand Dollar by 20%, then in 1985 introduced a floating exchange rate. Along with that, the
removal of agricultural subsidies and import tariffs. It allowed New Zealand to be a fairer country to
trade with. As a direct result, the trade competitive index jumped from 0.72 on 1985 to 0.98 in 1987.
Foreign investment increased as the New Zealand Dollar strengthened against the green back and the
pound. Consequently, importing and exporting firms benefited from the change in policies.
The services that the New Zealand Government provides have ongoing restructuring (which means
altering an already established department) in the State Sector. The State Sector Act 1988, which

The company s ability to pay is less than that of its competitors and will remain constrained until the
company can establish a reputation and gain a share of the market (Cascio, 2013, p. 420), so the

pay employees $9.33 per hour, which is $19,406 per year and is $2 per hour less than industry average

additional benefits, performance based incentives, and merit pay to attract, retain, and motivate
employees who share the company s vision and goals (Cascio, 2013, p. 423).

Thought Paper: Pathogens Are Rare Virulence Varies Greatly Less than 1% of bacteria can invade our
bodies and making us ill [5]. Such bacteria are pathogenic and have the potential to be disease
causing. This means that the remaining 99% are rather ubiquitous in nature and serve beneficial
purposes or have no effect on humans. Pathogens vary in complexity and those that remain are a direct
result of successfully adapting to their environments and evolving over time to overcome selective
evolutionary pressures. A more specific example of how disease causing pathogens can vary in
virulence involves the mention of antibiotics and their ability throughout history to temporary

Therefore, virulence varies among isolated cultures, although the origins of these evolutionary
adaptations on a molecular level are all interconnected and can be studied though tracing genetic

past tried to directly tie the two phenomena together and confirmed that increased usage of antibiotics
were directly correlated with increased resistance to those specific antibiotics. A finding was
additionally mentioned that diversifying the antibiotics used to eliminate bacterial populations and
reduction in overall use of antibiotics would minimize the levels of resistance in certain bacterial
species most commonly found in hospitals [8]. Additionally, Studies found that certain bacterial
species with increased exposure to antibiotics are highly prevalent in waste water of hospitals. High
levels of resistance displayed in these populations pose as a major risk to environmental health if
released beyond clinical waste water systems. Untreated wastewater is therefore an immediate cause
of concern [8]. Thus, with this data from past and current studies, pathogens are not in themselves
rare, but virulence does vary due to increased exposure to antibiotics and gained resistance that has

How does the ability to conduct legal searches differ between the police officer, probation officer, and

For police officers as we learned in several chapters, there are issues that come with their abilities to

Original historians relied heavily upon the writings of other contemporaries, because it would be
impossible for them to have seen everything that occurred at once. Original history is where we get
direct accounts of legend, folklore, and traditions because a person would have to have been there to
truly know about these. The great advantage that original historians have over the others is that they
lived through and were shaped by the events as they unfolded. They can descriptively write about
them from their experience, as opposed to a historian writing accounts based on the writings of others
hundreds of years later. Hegel said of these historians, The influences that have formed the writer are

The Problem Of Weight Watchers
Introduction and Problem Statement
Weight Watchers has faced a number of issues in the past several years, many of which are highlighted
in the case study for this assignment. The company was able to reach a financial high point earlier this
decade in 2011 when it recorded a record breaking 1.8 billion in revenues. However, the company s
finances have slowly dwindled ever since then, culminating in losses for seven straight quarters and
low stock prices at the beginning of 2015. The core of the problems it was facing were relatively
straightforward. The weight loss industry was changing, and Weight Watchers was having difficult
changing along with it. Specifically, the company had troubles modernizing its business model to
account for the digital age as represented by increasing online options for weight loss. This fact was
compounded by the reality that there was greater competition, including that from organizations
whose primary business was to capitalize on digital technology to attract customers. Technologies
such as mobile devices, mobile applications, cloud computing, and social media had made
considerable strides in the way that people were monitoring and attempting to lose weight. Weight

situation in which its methods were becoming rapidly outdated.

the overpowering damp smell forces her to immediately put her hands over her mouth and nose.

Growth Of Manufacturing During The Industrial Revolution
This is essay number one and topic number one. The growth of manufacturing during the Industrial
Revolution in Britain. The impact on growth of cities, employment of skilled and unskilled workers,
and role of women, families, laws and national policies. Most of the people worked at home or on
farms, this before the Industrial Revolution. If people did or had to work away from home, then they
most likely worked in workshops or in a small building. Then during the Industrial Revolution,
factories made a big change on what people did, on how they worked and where they lived. The
factories were not the best places to work in, also living by a factory was not good, but some people
had no choice. This mainly because of money. Then some of the ... Show more content on

Some people had no choice but to work in the factories.
Later on during the Industrial Revolution, the skilled workers were able to make more money. The
skilled workers were able to make a living. They made a decent amount of money, where they had
some money left over. The skilled people were able to afford better living accommodations. A lot of
the well paid workers moved away out of the city life. In the article called The Industrial Revolution,
Working and Living Conditions said that ( this led the beginning of suburbs or socially segregated
neighborhoods. )
The unskilled workers, did not make as much money as the skilled workers did. Most of the unskilled
workers, lived in the cities and near some factories. This was because they could not afford to live that
far away from the factories. It was because they did not make as much and had very little money. They
were not skilled at what they did. Then some of the unskilled workers, had to be trained. This was so
they could do a better job at what they were doing.
The women at times were also business people. If the women had a husband that passed away, then
the women had to take over the family and take charge. Then in the article called Women Workers in
the British Industrial Revolution, said, ( women commonly ran shops, taverns, and worked in different
places, but were not confined to these areas. )
The laws changed over time during the Industrial Revolution. Then for working in the

Essay On The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On Rate Of...
Effects of Sucrose Concentration on Rate of Diffusion Through Osmosis
Introduction:
Many human beings undergo dialysis to filter waste from their blood due to the fact that their kidneys
are not working properly. The blood is filtered through a selectively permeable membrane which
separates waste from the blood, essentially pumping clean blood back into the body. This is a form of
osmosis, which by definition, is the net movement of water across a selectively permeable membrane,
which was our dialysis bag in this experiment. (Eisenbach et al. 2017). Showing the importance of the
type of selectively permeable membrane used as it allows different substances to go through it. People
who have kidney failure or a kidney disease can become dependent on the use of dialysis to keep them
alive. The rate for those who need dialysis and hospitalization continues to grow as these patients fall
victim to cardiovascular disease and infection such as sepsis (Thompson and Pannu 2011). Factors
that increase the effects of osmosis include temperature, as temperature increases salt transport, and
plays a role in water flux, water viscosity, and osmotic pressure (Zhao and Zou 2011). The rate at
which some substances moves through the selectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was measured against a 0% sucrose concentration to allow a controlled variable to be added to
the experiment. It was hypothesized that the diffusion rate of sucrose depends on the amount of
substance present, and that an increase in concentration of sucrose will lead to an increase in the rate
of diffusion. It was predicted that the diffusion rate of 20% sucrose concentration would have a lower
rate of diffusion than the 40% sucrose

Abstract
Global Financial Corporation (GF) a subsidiary of Global Equipment Company (GEC) is tasked with
handling financing for those customers who wish to purchase GEC heavy equipment. Currently GF
only processes 51% of the leases within the 10 days or less time frame, with some loans taking up
above 41 days. Ms. Rodriguez, the Vice President of GF has been directed to decrease loan processing
time to 10 days or less with the current staff she has. The current structure of the analysis and
evaluation stage does not maximize staff time effectively and as a consequence creates a bottleneck in
the process. We recommend switching to a case manager structure. lLan applications can be processed

Region 2 is only handling a total of 66 applications (35 new) with an average processing time of 5.7
days, and Region 3 handling 74 applications (42 new), averaging 8.7 days. The Northeast office
handles about 35% more applications with essentially the same staff. Only 51% of the applications are
processed within the 10 day or less requirement.
Analysis of the Current Processing Steps 1.
Analysis and evaluation stage is a single channel, interest rate multi channel, loan terms single
channel, and final issuing a multichannel. (Exhibit A)The current structure of the analysis and
evaluation stage does not maximize staff time effectively and as a consequence creates a bottleneck in
the process. With the single channel structure loan applications are unevenly distributed among teams
and create higher idle time for teams with less volume of loan applications to process. Utilization
among regions varies greatly between 73% 95%. The following observation of the current structure
was achieved using the MMK model (See exhibit B): * Expected wait time in the system for an
application in Region 1 is approximately 37 days, with actual processing time of 14.10 hours. This is
where the bottleneck occurs as it takes the evaluation team over 16 days out of the 37 to perform the
review of 78 applications. * Expected wait time in the system for an application in Region 2 is
approximately 11 days, with an actual processing time of 13.40 hours. Of the three

Adam Pelech In The NHL Draft
The NHL draft, once beyond the second round, can be likened to shooting fish in a barrel, as the
saying goes. There is no clear cut way of determining what the end result of a players potential really
will be once he has gone through the rigors of your organization s development plan. And that s not to
say the development plan is all that shapes the player. There are many other intangibles and personal
factors that come into play as well, ultimately separating the Shea Weber s from the Michael Del Zotto
s (sorry Micheal, just for comparison sake).
In the third round of the 2012 entry draft, the New York Islanders chose a Canadian defenseman by
the name of Adam Pelech with the 65th overall selection. Never projected to be a prototypical

The trade market has started to heat up and we saw last night that the unexpected can happen at the
most unexpected times a midnight deal sending Ducks Carl Hagelin to Pittsburgh for David Perron. A
blockbuster involving Ryan Johanssen and Seth Jones was just completed. There are forwards said to
be available should Snow choose to walk down that path. Jonathan Drouin, Jordan Eberle, Ryan
Nugent Hopkins and Tyler Ennis are just some of the names being thrown around as we head into the
all star break and February 29 trade deadline.
What Snow ultimately does could depend on the continued development of Pelech, who doesn t seem
fazed by the challenge. I m just grateful for the opportunity to be here and want to do the best I can

The U-Boat
Another major way US forces combatted the U Boat was by utilizing advancements in technology in
both World War I and World War II. During World War I advancements in technology mainly included
the use of aircraft in war. Before World War I airplanes had never been used to fight a war, therefore
when World War I broke out and planes were sent into battle this was new technology (Lansford).
During World War I aircraft were used to combat U Boats in two ways, by supplementing them to
convoys, and by using them to drop aerial bombs (Lansford). Aircrafts were added to convoys for
various reasons these reasons included the fact that an aircraft could see more terrain than a surface
vessel and could engage quicker and more efficiently than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the major reasons aerial bombings were so effective was due to the angle of sight aircrafts had,
they could see exactly where the U Boat was versus the guessing surface vessels had to do to know
how far away a U Boat was. Another reason aerial bombings were so effective was due to the fact that
aircraft were quicker than surface vessels and did not have to come so close to the U Boat and be
noticed to drop their depth charges. These aerial bombings were very effective in destroying U Boats,
they were essentially depth charges dropped from an aircraft and worked basically the same way.
These aerial bombs were not dropped on the U Boat rather right behind or in front of it as to allow the
shock wave to destroy the U Boat not the impact (Lansford). The utilization of aircraft was on of the
major ways the US and its allies combatted the U Boat during World War I. During World War II
technological advancements mainly included radar and sonar. Radar and Sonar were two different
technologies used for the same purpose, to detect U Boats. Radar was invented around the beginning
of World War II (Lansford), while Sonar was invented late in the first world war (Fontenoy, Sonar ).
Sonar worked by doing two things at once, emitting sonic pulses and receiving

Loss Of The American Dream In The 19th Century
Many connect the beauty of America with its American dream, which includes feeling financially
secure, having the freedom to live the way one wants, being able to retire at 65, owning a home, and
believing that hard work pays off. The connection between America and the American dream is
strongly related to each other based on the interpretation of the media to the ideals taught in school.
Nowadays, a majority of the American population believes that the American dream is dead. In other
words, many Americans believe that America is dying by straying away from its original beliefs that
the American dream is still achievable for today s living generations. This is true, because both
America and the American dream are dying by transforming and straying away from its traditional
values. The American dream from the 19th century compared to that of the 20th century is very
different from each other, such as the American dream in the 21st century. This is because every new
generation in America creates their own American dream. In the 19th century, the American dream
was shaped by the discovery of gold in California, which led to the dream that many 19th century
Americans believed that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the American dream is transforming in order to fit with today s modern standard or greater
equality among race, gender, and sexuality. Similarly, the laws in America are constantly changing due
to each newer generation becoming more prevalent and influential on how the government runs. As
the older generations begin to die and the newer generations grow up, the more popular opinions
reflect on the greater represented generations of the total American population. Therefore, media
reflects on these growing popular opinions of the newer generations, thus placing more pressure on
politicians to create or change laws in order to appease the majority of the population, or else protests

Forrest Gump Historical Perspectives
Forrest Gump is a film based on a 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom and produced by
Robert Zemeckis. The film portrays several decades in the life of Forrest Gump, a slow witted, naïve
but goodhearted man from Greenbow, Alabama. Gump witnesses these events and in some cases
influences these events to happen (Wikipedia 1). In the midst of the film Jenny Curan, her childhood
friend and lover, appears throughout the film also taking part in some of these events. Forrest Gump
revises popular memories of the 1960 s and 1970 s through its representations of history (Wang 92).
Gump takes place in many comical but important historical events along with Jenny, such as, the
Hippie Movement, the Vietnam War, and the Ping Pong Diplomacy. To begin with, the Hippie
Movement occurred during the mid 1960 s. The Hippie Culture emerged mainly among the youth
population and their number one belief was their anti sentiments towards the Vietnam War. Hippies
were known for the type of music they listened to, their way of dressing, their openness to sexual
revolution and for the use of marijuana, LSD and shrooms . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Meanwhile, in recovery Forrest discovers he is a prodigy of ping pong. He then begins playing with
the U.S Army team and is then sent to play against the Chinese. Zemeckis demonstrates a clear
parallel to the term Ping Pong Diplomacy. This term comes from when the Chinese invited the
American ping pong team to play in Japan, for the World Table Tennis Championship in Beijing
(Berkowitz 40). The U.S gave its approval, since the President did want to improve relations with
Communist China (Berkowitz 40). Soon enough it was agreed that the American table tennis team
would also be used for foreign affairs. Many people do not know that the Ping Pong Diplomacy was in
fact something true that occurred in the 1970 s. The film successfully altered the Ping Pong
Diplomacy in an entertaining

Persuasive Essay On Little Boy
War World two had been going on for six years, it had started when German had invaded Poland in

continents. Japan wanted to fight until they won. The United States had warned Japan if they

Truman had launch an Atomic Bomb nickname Little Boy ; On a Japanese city called Hiroshima.
Even though Hiroshima was really never part of the war. Hiroshima had a part, the city of Hiroshima

Offshore Oil Drilling Research Paper
Offshore Oil Drilling in United States Waters Oil is one of the most precious substances on Earth. It
takes millions of years to form and has many applications throughout the world. Offshore oil drilling
in the coastal waters of the United States is a technique used by companies to extract the oil buried
deep beneath the ocean floor. Many people refer to the ways that offshore drilling will help the
economy, both locally and globally, but despite the apparent benefits, the process is not without
controversy. Oilrigs produce wastes which affect marine life and the associated fishing industry, and
they pose a danger to the employees who operate them. Because of these consequences, the United
States should look to restrict offshore oil drilling. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Philanthropy Reader By John Rockfeller
#2 In the book Philanthropy reader , a variety of philanthropy philosophies are discussed; However, in
this class, we have talked about three different types of philanthropy, the types of philanthropy are
Effective altruism, philanthropic locals, and conservative philanthropy. Personally, I believe that if
every individual has the same philanthropy mindset, all of these would be successful and solve social
problems that the world is facing. Obviously, in today s society, everyone has their beliefs and support
a different kind of philanthropy. Personally, I am a supporter of all three ideologies, because I think
they go hand in hand. What I mean with hand in hand is the fact that we all should start with taking
care of ourselves and family before we start taking care of others. In the book philanthropy reader,
John Rockfeller argues about The difficult art of giving , and he states: If people can be educated to
help themselves, we strike at the root of many of the evils in the world (412). This shows that
philanthropy starts by taking care of yourself, and when people manage to look out for themselves,
they can start looking out for other people as well. When it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An Investigation into the Management Styles and Communication Systems within the NHS.
Management styles The literature surrounding the concept of management is wide and extensive.
Mullins (1987) highlighted, management is fundamental to the effective operation of a working
environment. Furthermore, the literature of Brookfield (2000) as well as Mullins (1987) further
highlights, conceptually the overall duty of management can be seen as the attainment of a given
objectives of the organisation. Although it can be argued, organisations can only achieve their goals in
accordance to the collective effort, and implementation of the right management style and workforce.
Therefore, the literature is suggestive the concept of management style is defined as, the method of
implementation a recurring set of characteristics, decisional process of a firm in relation to mangers.
(Poon et al, 2003). Ultimately, throughout the literature there has been a growing interest in
identifying
individual differences between managers, and the linking of management styles to the work setting,
therefore deriving upon the concept of different managerial styles (Stamp, 2007). The Research of
Stamp (2007) affirmed four key concepts to different managerial styles and their application.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ultimate goal of ethical theory is to achieve human dignity, peace, happiness, and well being. But these goals are somewhat vague and can be interpreted differently in different situations under certain circumstances. So to make the things less complex, we try to define a sphere of freedom in which people can act and make decisions freely without interference from others. So natural rights defines ethical theory as a set of actions that respects fundamental rights of others, including the rights to life, liberty, and property. Natural rights can be categorized in two different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Watchman Character Traits Dr. Manhattan In The Watchman, Dr. Manhattan is a superman who exhibits some very human qualities, while having other qualities that set him apart from society. At the beginning of The Watchman, Dr. Manhattan is a very neutral character. He does not do things on a whim; all of his actions are logic based. He appears to have complete control over the physical realm, including time, though he seems to struggle with interpersonal relationships. Though Dr. Manhattan changes very little during the course of The Watchman, the description of his transformation lends valuable insight into his character. The strengths of Dr. Manhattan are many; he has almost complete control over matter. The most notable uses being when he wins the Vietnam War, when he creates a glass masterpiece on Mars, and when, at the end of the story, he kills Rorschach. This ability, though not a true character trait, helps to set the scene for the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Manhattan is an extremely rational person and emotions do not have any effect on his decisions. When Rorschach upsets the Silk Spectre, Dr. Manhattan simply removes him from the room by teleportation. His attitude of doing the most rational thing is again demonstrated when, towards the end of the story, he kills Rorschach, at his request, to prevent him from spreading the truth. However, between these two events there is a subtle shift in Dr. Manhattan away from looking only at immediate change to doing something with a more permanent effect. This subtle shift in his personality shows that he has developed a greater depth of rational thought. Dr. Manhattan s last act of leaving the earth forever completes this transformation. He realises that right course of action is to leave, so he leaves. This self imposed exile indicates a movement away from his humanness and towards a more god like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Montana Tech Math Bowl For my senior project, I choose to do the Montana Tech Math Bowl. With the support of my fellow senior math majors I became the President of the Math Club. Dr. Laurie Battle then became the advisor to math club and my project. The primary goal The primary goal of this project was to examine the math bowl and try to improve upon it. After three years of being a member of the Montana tech math club I was given the opportunity to run it. So, with the resources available to the math club, I attempted to organize and promote another math bowl completions. Through running this event I hoped to gain insight on short coming that the math club faced. One of these was the lack of participation from the math club members. The second main goal that would greatly improve upon the math bowl is a reference book . There were no previous tests, flyers, or records from the earlier math bowls. I had nothing to help me design the math bowl. Therefore, a reference book for the math bowl of fall 2016 will be made containing documents used in the math bowl. Hopefully this can provide a benchmark to help improve future math bowls at Montana tech. summary of methods used, results, and analysis The first step to organizing the math bowl involved organizing the math club. I obtained a list of potential members from faculty members. I also personally visited the freshman math seminar class in attempt to recruit new members. I started with 12 potential members and ended with 5 participating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Theme Of Justice In The Merchant Of Venice The theme of justice in Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice is both controversial and complicated towards the content of whether justice is served. Justice of law and justice of morality are illustrated in the play, but in a closer examination hypocrisy and lawlessness are present as well. I will be trying to analyze the theme of justice taking under consideration the themes of religion, racism and Anti Semitism of that era. To be more specific, Shylock is a Jewish merchant whose legal rights have been violated, as Antonio was incapable of paying his debt to him. Seeking justice, Shylock goes to court demanding his pound of flesh from Antonio, in order for his bond to be satisfied. Obviously, Shylock seeks vengeance against Antonio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One would expect merciful actions to match noble words. One would be sorely disappointed. Portia s inconsistency between word and deed is vast. The gulf between her preaching about mercy dropping as the gentle rain from heaven and her vengeful punishment of Shylock is unbridgeably wide. (45) Portia s hypocrisy is also obvious in Act 1 Scene 2 when the Prince of Morocco comes in order to choose the right casket and marry her. Though she argues to be a Christian and an obedient daughter, she reveals her racist beliefs saying to her maid: If he have the condition of a saint and the complexion of a devil, I had rather he should shrive me than wive me. (The Merchant of Venice act 1 scene 2, 33.) A true Christian is not supposed to criticize another person because of his skin color. Therefore, her obedience to her father s law is hypocritical as well, because she admits that she d rather die than marry the Prince of Morocco, a suitor that according to her father s will could be her future ... • 6. Contrasting the Gods in Homer’s Odyssey and the Biblical... Contrasting the Gods in Homer s Odyssey and the Biblical Book of Exodus Many authors have employed the religious beliefs of their cultures in literature. The deities contained in Homer s Odyssey and in the Biblical book of Exodus reflect the nature of the gods in their respective societies. Upon examination of these two works, there are three major areas where the gods of the Greek epic seem to directly contrast the nature of the God of the Israelites: the way problems are solved, the prestige and status that separates the divine from the masses, and the extent of power among the immortal beings. Before any logical argument regarding the contrasting of two works can begin, a foundation must be established that in some way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that the people do what is commanded is evidence of the recognition of Yahweh as their divine God, and it is a testament to the authority they ascribe to Him. The existence and recognition of the authority of these deities does not provide the only cornerstone for this argument. To discuss the relationship between the divine and mankind, an observation and analysis of the interaction between the two realms is imperative. In The Odyssey, many interactions between the gods and men are seen. One of these scenes illustrates Athena s visit to Telmakhos, at the end of which she put new spirit in him, a new dream of his father (1. 359 360) in order that Telemakhos might not give up hope of Odysseus return. It is this type of interaction that gives insight into the relations between the divine and humans, and that provides a framework on which to weave the examination of those relations. An example of this type of interaction in Exodus is found in the form of a burning bush: When, the Lord saw that he [Moses] had gone over to look [at the burning bush], God called to him from within the bush, Moses! Moses! And Moses said, Here I am. Do not come any closer, God said, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground (Exodus 3:4 5). Another good opportunity is to improve in the areas they were criticized before, such as employee benefits and medical coverage, employees wages and even environmental issues as pollution. Wal Mart could also focus on its online sales, as it is becoming the new shopping trend. Many opportunities await this retailer in the future. Threats refer to the external conditions which could damage to the business s performance. A major threat to Wal Mart s expansion is its negligence to adapt to local markets. This will automatically lead to negative response from the populations and low sales. They might believe that their culture can apply everywhere, but failures as Germany proves them wrong. The slowing economy decreases people s incremental income decreasing the number of sales. Moreover, locally and globally Wal Mart can become the target of competitors. • 11. Manichaean Dualism In The Hobbit J.R.R Tolkien s writing consists of a variety of different mythological influences ranging from Greco Roman, Norse, and Scandinavian. Thought these sources do shape the narrative of Tolkien s writing and of Middle Earth as a whole, most prominent inspirations of his mythos is derived from Christian theology in the Bible. Traces of biblical influence can be found throughout The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Silmarillion, particularly in each of these texts conception of good and evil. Some have argued that the morality presented in his works are akin to Manichaean dualism. • 12. Essay On School Uniforms Should our school have school uniforms or not? The topic of school uniforms is an interesting topic due to the many views that people have on them. This issue is important because it could prevent the issue of bullying. It also could also make teens get to know each other based on character, rather than appearance. Many teens are judged based on how they look or what they are wearing. The students are the ones most affected by this issue. My claim is that school uniforms should be enforced because it could prevent students from bullying. Having uniforms could also help teens stop judging and labeling people by how they look or dress. People should get to know each other based on how they and who they are as a person. If everyone wore the same thing there could be a less tendency to judge others based on what they wear. Teens should learns that their individuality comes from within, not necessarily from what they wear or how they look. Some reasons and evidence that supports my claim are that studies have shown that most of the time the root of bullying is how another dresses. I have noticed that teenagers (myself included) tend to judge someone based on how they choose to dress. If someone does not dress up to standards, people tend to think they are weird or they should be avoided. This shows that people tend to focus on how someone dresses more that how they act. One can dress up to standards, but they could also be a really mean person. This could go the other way as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If one can overcome challenges that they face they grow in a unique type of way, for every individual perceives each situation in a distinct fashion. That unique type of growth is what establishes a person s character and perception of the world. However if one cannot overcome their obstacles, then they cut of their means for growth and are left uninspired, forgetting any dreams or aspirations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What will it cost to shorten the project by as many weeks as possible? The project can be shortened by 6 weeks maximum. Based on the crash time for 6 activities (A3 A4 A7and B2 B5 B6), we can come up with the new numbers of weeks that each activity needs. According to the critical path we already found, we could see that B9 is an important activity. Once it was changed, B6 changed. So we also need to find how A5 B3 B8 changed. The crash of B5, B6 leaded to the change of A4 and A5 (17,21), so the crash of A3 is invalid; The crash of B2 leaded to the change of C5, so B8 became (18,22); B2 changed B3 to (11.21). Then the time of B9 changed to (22,30). Since the earliest time for B9 is 22 anyway, and we crashed B5, B6 for one week each to make it s final time 21, we could cancel B6 s crash for its higher cost. Then we finally crash A7 for 2 weeks. so the final time for A8 was 46 followed by calculating. The total cost to shorten the project is A4+A7+B5+B2 =3900+7000+1700+3200=15800

  • 28. Knowledge Is The Measure Of All Things Essay Matthew Smith; Phil 125w; Paper 4: Skepticism; 2 October 2015 Is Knowledge Possible? First, Theaetetus arrived at a definition that knowledge is the skills, abilities, and activities that allow people to understand the whole discipline (6). For example, a house builder has knowledge because he has the skills and abilities to build a house. This is not a plausible definition of knowledge. This definition describes what one may have knowledge of. It does not give the exact definition of knowledge. Theaetetus then explained that knowledge is perception (13). In other words, the experiences people have are what give them knowledge. This is very closely related to Protagoras definition of man is the measure of all things (14). Theaetetus and Protagoras both claimed man evaluates everything, but people have different interpretations of the perceptions they see. For example, someone might perceive an animal as a duck while someone else perceives that same object as a rabbit. In this case, no one is wrong about the object because both perceptions are correct. This is not a plausible definition for knowledge. One object cannot be two different things; it needs to have consistency in order for it to be one object. Theaetetus then described knowledge as true judgment (60). This cannot be because there are a lot of judgments. Whose judgment is the correct judgment? Finally, Theaetetus said knowledge is true judgment with an account (80). Accounts are the understanding of arrangement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The True Lesson Of 1984 1984 is a renowned dystopian novel that depicts an oppressive, dark English society where English socialism is fervently adopted by the central government, also known as the Big Brother. However, the fundamental notion of this political philosophy, which is to overcome the greed, waste, competitiveness, and inequality as described in the article The True Lessons of 1984, are distorted and trimmed down into three sacred principles: Newspeak, Doublethink and Mutability of the past. For the general public, on the other hand, there are also such treatments that are used to influence people in the means of propaganda, espionage, and falsification. After letting Oceanian citizens deny their own nature, the second step Big Brother takes, is to have them deny the existence of the truth. Schlueter mentions, based upon Bacon, that Baconian science rests on the assumption that reality conforms to the mind, not the mind to reality and remarks afterwards, This is not far from the claim that the mind makes reality. To deny the reality, is to deny one s sanity and senses. How many in total is two fingers plus two fingers? 3? 4? 5? As suggested by the Big Brother, it can be whatever number one wants it to be as long as he thinks about it subjectively. People can create anything in their mind with or without any factual information. As a result, doublethink and mutability of the past are introduced. Since laws of nature are essentially unalterable, doublethink manages to instill a sense of duality to it, making people believe its contradictory characters. In the book, for example, O brien makes Winston, who have the scientific knowledge about gravity, to believe that he is actually floating above the ground. Therefore, doublethink requires absolutely no factual information whatsoever. Such bacteria are pathogenic and have the potential to be disease causing. This means that the remaining 99% are rather ubiquitous in nature and serve beneficial purposes or have no effect on humans. Pathogens vary in complexity and those that remain are a direct result of successfully adapting to their environments and evolving over time to overcome selective evolutionary pressures. Studies in the past tried to directly tie the two phenomena together and confirmed that increased usage of antibiotics were directly correlated with increased resistance to those specific antibiotics. A finding was additionally mentioned that diversifying the antibiotics used to eliminate bacterial populations and reduction in overall use of antibiotics would minimize the levels of resistance in certain bacterial species most commonly found in hospitals [8]. Additionally, Studies found that certain bacterial species with increased exposure to antibiotics are highly prevalent in waste water of hospitals. High levels of resistance displayed in these populations pose as a major risk to environmental health if released beyond clinical waste water systems. Untreated wastewater is therefore an immediate cause of concern [8]. Effects of Sucrose Concentration on Rate of Diffusion Through Osmosis Introduction: Many human beings undergo dialysis to filter waste from their blood due to the fact that their kidneys are not working properly. The blood is filtered through a selectively permeable membrane which separates waste from the blood, essentially pumping clean blood back into the body. This is a form of osmosis, which by definition, is the net movement of water across a selectively permeable membrane, which was our dialysis bag in this experiment. (Eisenbach et al. 2017).
