Weapons Of Mass Destruction In Iraq
However, in the months following this Resolution, evidence to suggest Iraq s non compliance
concerning the removal or destruction of Weapons of Mass Destruction could not be verified through
the United Nations. Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei were still investigating when the United
States declared war, however, prior to the declaration, they reported no evidence of non compliance.

The Similarities Of The Flood Characters Of Gilgamesh And...
Though Gilgamesh and Genesis are completely different stories, they both contain flood narratives
that have similarities and differences within each. The three comparable points in these texts deal with
the gods and heroes of the stories. First the gods in these narratives all have a specific reason behind
their decision to wipe out mankind. Second the unique characteristics of the heroes or survivors of the
flood are shown throughout the events of the texts. Finally the gods who bring these floods upon earth
all reveal their qualities through their actions against humanity. These three topics relate from one
book to another in many ways. Before each of the floods there are reasons that each god decides to
eliminate the people on earth. In Gilgamesh the god Enlil chooses to destroy humanity with a flood
because it is the best way to get rid of the individuals who have sinned. After the flood the god Ea says
Let him who has performed an evil act be punished for that act. Let not the flood be brought down on
the heads of all for what one man has done... (Ferry 74). This statement shows how Enlil punished all
of mankind when most of them weren t to blame. On the contrary, in Genesis Gods motive for
destroying humanity with a flood is that the world was turning evil and cruel, which was not what God
intended. God s thoughts are shown through the following quote The Lord saw that the wickedness of
man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his

How do firms in the supermarket industry make money?
Operating on very thin profit margins, players in the supermarket industry traditionally either focus on
a premium segment or follow a discounter strategy at the low end. Premium players address educated
and more price elastic consumers who value healthy, natural and organic food; the share of perishable
items for these players is normally distinctly higher. Players that focus on a discounter strategy offer a
higher share of simple necessity items and value price competitiveness over premium features like
healthiness or organic origin. Independently of the focused customer group it is imperative for players
in the supermarket industry to be cost efficient and optimize operations ... Show more content on

Thirdly, Trader Joe s stores are small and located in non prime locations, which holds fixed operating
costs at bay. Furthermore, the company is able to generate the industry s highest sales per square feet
in its small sized stores. In an effort to diversify from its competitors, Trader Joe s also relies on a non
traditional marketing strategy. Completely neglecting conventional marketing techniques like
commercials or promotional offers, the company focuses on unique and store specific in store
marketing with its newsletter and the occasional radio ad being its major means of communication
with its customers. The Trader Joe s brand with its vast fan base is naturally another part of the
company s competitive advantage.
What are the main threads to Trader Joe s competitive advantage? Is the company s competitive
advantage sustainable?
Trader Joe s faces several threats to its business, as competitors try to invade the company s niche and
attempt to imitate the company s core strategies. The supermarket industry itself faces a major threat,
as larger chains such as grocery retailers Wal Mart and Tesco have begun to open small format stores
that mimic the Trader Joe s approach. This invasion results in additional cost pressure for incumbents
like Trader Joe s, which had to let go employees in order to become more cost competitive.

Tattoos and Criminal Behavior Essay
Introduction
The ancient practice of tattooing, once considered a trademark of social outcasts and criminals, has
steered back into mainstream culture at an alarming rate (Irwin 2001, Swan 2006). In western society,
tattoos are often associated with antisocial behaviour. In 1895, Cesare Lombroso concluded in his
study that the art of tattooing is most commonly found on the bodies of criminals (Putnins 2002). The
frequency of tattoo are predicted to be found at higher rates in criminal subcultures than in the general
public. According to the 2003 Harris poll, nearly 40 million Americans have at least one tattoo. The
practice is becoming more popular with teenagers.

Houghton et al. comprised the study of 464 high school students; equally divided by gender, from 5
separate schools in a large Australian city. All the students were given a questionnaire of 21 questions,
which ranged from location, number of tattoos, also age of acquisition and awareness of health risks.
Another study, which analyzed the relationship between increased offending risk and having tattoos,
was conducted in an Australian prison (Putnins 2002, Crofts, Thompson, Wales, Hernberger 1996). At
the time of the study 97% of adults were found to have tattoos. In addition, 73% of the tattooed group
was found to have been in juvenile detention centers. The average age of getting their first tattoo was
approximately 15 years old. The study concluded that the link between tattoos and offending was quite
evident even at an early age.
Arnett (1995) suggests that body modification, which include piercings and tattoos can be best
described by ones reckless impulsivity, and adolescents can be more likely to engage in delinquent
behaviour as they do not fully comprehend their actions. Atkinson (2003) argues although some
tattoos may have meaning behind it, others get tattoos simply because it is deviant by social standards.
Further more, research on adolescent tattooing supports

he always gets to the bottom of his cases. He is a man with short height but he carries himself with

My favourite part of the story was when Poirot fools Richard, Sir Claud s secretary.
He pretends his whiskey tastes bitter, and he passes away. Richard tells him that whiskey was
poisoned too by him. It is then that Poirot reveals that he had replaced the drink, with help of Hastings

I was born with water on the brain (Alexie 1), Sherman Alexie starts his novel, The Absolutely True
Diary of a Part Time Indian. His first sentence explains it all; the main character of his book, Arnold
Spirit Junior, is not an ordinary boy. Junior was born with a rare condition called Hydrocephalus; it
made him prone to seizures, brain damages and to get picked on and bullied. However, the same
impairment makes him a fighter. He fights off his brain surgery, seizures and the bullies. He fights for
hope and to survive. Not just his disability, Junior was also different because of his skin color and his
poverty stricken family. Nevertheless, the differences motivates him to strive for more. If he was not

fight back. He knew he had to do something, but he just needed a push. He gets the push he needed
from his geometry teacher, Mr. P, whom he threw the geometry book at. Mr. P motivates Junior that he
cannot give up like everyone else in the rez; he tells him to go somewhere else where he can save his
dreams and hope. Therefore, he decides to go to Reardan, an all white school, which is twenty two
miles away from his rez. Junior knew it was not going to be easy. First, Reardan was really far and
there was no school bus coming out to his rez. His parents did not have enough money to move or to
pick and drop daily. Secondly, he was the first person to go to a white school like that. The people on
the rez would hate him for that. Even his best friend, Rowdy, did not like the idea of him leaving.
However, Junior tells him that [he has] to go and [he] is going to die if he [does] not leave . He wanted
to find a better life for himself. Unlike the people on his rez, he did not worry about being different.
He was used to the feeling of being bullied and made fun of all the time, so he did not hesitate to take
risk. Thirdly, he was much different

The Importance Of Organ Donation
Over the past several years, the argument of whether or not compensating donors is ethical and
financially benefitting for everyone has been heavily debated. The interest for life saving organ
donation has such little supply that the doctors of waiting patients are so desperate that they believe
compensation is their only option. Enhanced survival rates combined with unfaltering development of
signs for transplantation make the organ deficiency progressively severe; waiting times are now
deplorably long. In order to cut the waiting period, compensating donors will promote more
individuals to become donors. Although there are many people who disagree with the idea to
compensate donors, people who donate their kidneys should be compensated because more
individuals will be drawn to donate their kidneys in return for monetary value. Additionally, donors
should be compensated because they are giving an organ from their body part away.
Individuals and their families pay for dialysis each year hoping they will be chosen to receive the next
available organ they have been longing for. These individuals often do not think about how they could
be paying a donor for a much lower price instead of dialysis which does not guarantee the organ you
desire. The interest for organ donation has reliably surpassed supply, and the large gap between the
quantity of recipients on the waiting list and the quantity of donors has increased. If a larger supply of
organs was available to the large

Essay about Narrative Styles In Poe, Melville, Hawthorne
narrative styles in Melville s Bartleby, Poe s Arthur Gordon Pym, and Hawthorne s The House of
Seven Gables. How all three authors utilize a conversational tone for the function of their work.
In works by three of the most classically American authors of the nineteenth century, Melville, Poe,
and Hawthorne, a trait that can be considered common to all three authors is pronounced clearly as a
means to their narration. This trait is that of deploying a narrative laden with and moreover led by
conversational phrasing and asides. The flow of passages in these authors works, Bartleby, Arthur
Gordon Pym, and The House of Seven Gables, takes on a spoken structure, and numerous operations

This feature is then emphasized when the narrator, having finished his resume of Nippers and Turkey,

In The House of Seven Gables Nathaniel Hawthorne utilizes the conversational approach perhaps the
most overtly of any of the three authors, at times situating the narration in the first person plural,
which thereby has the effect of drawing an assumed commonality between the reader and the party of
the narrator. Indeed his use of we is scattered through the entire book, as in the passage (pg. 139): We

Dulce Et Decorum Est Patriotism Essay
When warfare demands allegiance from a multitude of soldiers, a person might expect the soldiers to
display heroism and nobility; however, when the world is stricken with this warfare disease, the troops
might possess contradicting feelings especially when they are actually on the battlefield. In Wilfred
Owen s poem Dulce et Decorum Est, the reality of patriotism is illustrated through conflict and
graphic imagery, and it is realized that a soldier s portrayal of patriotism is filled with a harsh reality
of suffering from the things seen, heard, and felt over the course of a war. Throughout the entire poem,
internal and external conflicts are present. The setting takes place during a war in the early twentieth
century, and it is within this terrain that allows a perfect condition for conflict and impaired ... Show

Owen uses vivid and detailed wording to illustrate an image as the poem is read. He uses chilling
combat accounts that bring the act of war to life and all the monstrosities with it. To capture the
frustrations of the men in their physically and mentally drained, We cursed through sludge is used to
describe their lack of energy but their will to keep marching on (line 2). To illustrate the hardships
faced by the troops who have lost even their boots, Owen uses his skill of imagery to convey and
intensify the moment saying, But limped on, blood shod (line 6). Additional phrases used with the
intention of imagery are white eyes writhing in the face and blood gargling out from the froth
corrupted lungs (lines 19, 22). Also, a mental image is painted when the deadly gas is emitted in the
air and an ecstasy of fumbling occurs which guides one unlucky man to inhale the toxic fumes leading
him to [flounder] like a man in fire or lime (lines 9, 12). Owen s approach to imagery enhanced the
troublesome patriotic reality and helped the readers understand that war is an ugly

Theme Of Sacrifice In Hamlet
As the great American journalist Norman Cousins once said, The tragedy of life is not death but what
we let die inside of us while we live. Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, it is a commonly
held belief that the play is a legendary tragedy because most of the characters fall to their deaths.
Indeed, when Hamlet is analysed, many characters throughout the play meet their own demise which
helps advance this theme. However, when a closer look is taken, it becomes apparent that the tragedy
of Hamlet truly lies in how the characters live their lives. Foremost, Claudius is a secondary character
whose selfish actions, contribute to the tragic downfall of his character. Ophelia s tragedy is, likewise,
a result of her passiveness and poor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Primarily, Ophelia accepts the social status placed on her by her father, Polonius, by obeying his
manipulative and controlling ways. For instance, when Polonius orders Ophelia to cut off all contact
with her lover Ophelia agrees to follow her father s orders saying, I shall obey, my lord. (1.3.141).
Ophelia s response can be seen as her acceptance towards the restrictions placed on her by her father.
In doing so, Ophelia displays that her weakness lies in her lack of assertiveness and willpower. By not
opposing her father and expressing her own opinions, she is following the stereotype of submission
and obedience placed on women during Shakespeare s time. Ophelia s betrayal of Hamlet is another
decision that leads to her downfall. When Ophelia is asked by Polonius to spy on Hamlet, she obliges
and attempts to deceive him. When Hamlet asks her where her father is, she shows her betrayal by
lying, claiming that Polonius is at home my lord (3.1.142). By agreeing to spy on Hamlet, Ophelia
becomes no different than everyone else who betrays Hamlet throughout the play. Ophelia even goes
as far as betraying her morals and lying to Hamlet in order to protect herself from the consequences
she might face if she confesses the truth to Hamlet. Ophelia s betrayal to Hamlet is a portrayal of her
weakness in her inability to face her own consequences.

Battle Of Jutland The Battle of Jutland was between the Germans and the British, the conflict was
building up for a while, and on May 31, 1916 is when the battle began. The Battle of Jutland is one of
the biggest naval battles in history, this battle was considered to be the only major naval battle of
World War I . The battle evolved over time due to Britain s declaration that its naval force was
superior in Europe and the introduction in 1906 of the Dreadnought. The British and the Germans
wanted two different things, the British wanted to protect their world wide kingdom. The Germans
were in need of more place than the North Sea s coast and they wanted full control of the North Sea.
Both countries avoided the conflict for a long time because of fear of losing and making their country
vulnerable. A letter from King George to Jellicoe stated: At this grave moment in our national history I

Francisco Franco was the dictator of Spain from 1939 to 1975, including the time of WW2. Perhaps
he was better known as El Caudillo, translated into English as The Leader. He was born and raised in
Spain. He was a very brilliant military general who led Nationalist rebels in defeating the Spanish
government during the Spanish Civil War. Although he was viewed as a Fascist Dictator, he strongly
opposed communism. He was an extremely important figure in the course of world history.

together in 1928.
The Spanish Monarchy fell in 1931 and the new government was strongly opposed to the military. The
General Military Academy was broken up and Franco was placed on the inactive list. He was restored
to active duty in 1933 and in 1934 was promoted to major general. Franco s tactical genius shined
once again when he was called upon to crush a small band of rebels in October of 1934. After this, he
was promoted to chief of the Spanish Army s general staff. After this promotion, Franco started to
strengthen the military, as the military was weakened by the antimilitary policy of the Spanish
Republic.
The government of Spain dissolved once again and Franco was removed from the general staff. He
was moved to duty in the Canary Islands. Although it was against Franco s nature to oppose the
government, he joined Nationalist rebels against the government.
This was the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. Franco flew to Morocco and took command of the
Spanish Army there. He united the Nationalist parties and assumed the role of leader. The

Popular Mechanics Redmond Carver Analysis
Redmond Carver s Popular Mechanics revolves around many enigmas, the most important of which is
who, out of its two main characters: an unnamed man and an unnamed women, gets the baby.
Likewise, this enigma, as well as others, is specifically designed to draws the reader into the story and
let him/her determine it s ultimate meaning. Similarly, when the reader is first introduced to the man,
who is busy pushing clothes into a suitcase and the women, who is repeatedly yelling at him that she s
glad you re leaving! , he/she is faced with several enigmas. These enigmas, such as why the man is
leaving and why the women is so anxious to see him go, are unanswered by the stories end and force
the reader to come to his/her own conclusions. Likewise, based on the image of the man packing his
belongings and the women telling him she s glad he s leaving, readers, based on their own experiences
and similar situations in other media , might assume that the two used to be a couple and that there
was a breakdown in their relationship (a particularly ugly one at that, since the women calls the man a

determined by the reader. For example, the fact that the man is willing to continue to grasp onto the
baby despite the women s exclamation of You re hurting the baby, and the fact that, just as both
individuals are pulling the baby towards them with all their might, Carver abruptly ends Popular

Ir The Enemy Of My Enemy
Iran: The Enemy of My Enemy
The United States and Iran have one of the most complicated diplomatic relationships in the world. In
its desperate hunt for oil in the mid to late 20th century, the US government tried to secure its interests
in the oil rich Middle Eastern states, in some cases, creating wars and problems that have lasted
decades. In 1953, the CIA helped overthrow Iran s democratically elected Prime Minister, Mohammed
Mossadeq, and replaced him with Shah Reza Pahlavi, who supported American oil interests in Iran. In
1979, the Iranian people overcame the Shah, and in response, the US, UN, and other western
countries, imposed multiple sanctions against Iran, deeply hurting the country s economy and people.
Now though, more than 30 years later, the US and Iran may be brought together by a common enemy
of ISIS; an Islamic militant group based in Northern Iraq and Syria, that has been violently attacking
Westerners, and people of religions other than Sunni Muslim. The US should take this opportunity to
mend diplomatic relations with Iran, because Iran cannot singularly be blamed for the actions that
caused a cooling of relations. The present association and mutuality of the two countries is rare, and
Iran can help America s interests in the Middle East. Firstly, it is important to understand the history of
the American imprint in Iran. US backed leader Mohammed Reza Pahlavi reigned from 1941 to 1979,
apart from a brief stint in the early 1950s ( US Iran ). In 1950

Cyberbullying Is A Problem That Affects More Than One...
With the new twitter update which allows that creation of polls that users can vote in, countless
accounts have been created to poke fun at someone s personality or looks, this is what is called
cyberbullying, and it happens each and everyday. Cyberbullying is a problem that affects more than
one fourth of adolescents in middle school and high school. With the growth of technology it has
become more imperative to implement programs in schools to help solve this problem. Today,
teenagers rely more on the internet, and other technologies to keep in touch with their friends, and
social lives. They are on all sorts of social media platforms such as facebook, twitter, instagram,
snapchat and so much more. They also use different forms of technology such as cellphones, and
online chatrooms to communicate with friends and social circles. Many adolescents use this growing
technology as a bridge between their everyday reality, and virtual reality, and sometimes, use this
technology to intimidate and harass other students which is a form of cyberbullying. Jemica Carter
and Wilson Feleta, authors of Cyberbullying a 21st century health care phenomenon, define
cyberbullying as, covert, psychological bullying [conveyed] through electronic mediums

Essay Research on Employee Satisfaction and Production
Through out this essay the notion of satisfied employees being more productive will be broken down
and examined, taking into consideration research and theories, to determine if there is any correlation
between the two elements, and if so, to what extent. Locke (1976) defines job satisfaction as
pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one s job or job experience... a
perception of how well their job provides those things that are viewed as important. The feeling of
satisfaction is an attitude, a psychological tendency that is expressed by evaluating a particular entity
with some degree of favour or disfavour (Eagly and Chaiken, 1993) favour being the satisfaction the
employee feels. While in its purest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence his focus on the job resources; there is a role to play by the employer to provide the necessary
elements for the employee to be productive. He shows how the cycle between both job resources and
the employee s personal resources when the requirements are met conclude with productivity.
Reinforcing the importance of rewards and acknowledgement is the concept of flow .
Csikszentmihalyi (1990) developed this concept describing the positive mental state of an individual
being whole heartedly committed to the working process, in the act of being productive, which is
meaningful to the point that intrinsic rewards outweigh any external rewards received. The idea of
flow is that once a person is in flow they are very unlikely to drift from their work, as they have fully
committed their attention to the given activity, meaning they are more dedicated to the task at hand
increasing both the quality and productivity of the employee. It is thought the employee would have to
feel satisfied with their job to be able to maintain this state of flow. Flow is a complete state of
motivation (Csikszentmihalyi 1990) meaning there are no distractions and that they complete the task
at hand, in exchange for the intrinsic rewards they value and are in effect working towards.
Herzberg s (1993) Motivation Hygiene theory analyses job attitudes suggesting a two step approach to
understanding employee motivation and satisfaction;

Manhunter Scene
In the 1986 film Manhunter, directed by Michael Mann, a retired FBI detective named Will Graham is
called from his seemingly perfect life of drinking beer on the beach with his beautiful wife to assist in
the investigation of a serial killer called the tooth fairy. The opening scene of Manhunter is the camera
in place of the serial killer following his every move while he carefully tiptoes in the house of his next
victims. This exact scene is revisited later on in the film when Graham retraces the exact steps of the
killer through the victim s house in order to better understand the motives of the killer. Michael Mann
decides to use a point of view shot in both cases of the serial killer and for Graham. The reason behind
this is that Graham is supposedly such a great detective because he can emulate the thought ... Show

Lecktor is a former psychiatrist that was apprehended by Graham, but caused him severe
psychological distress and presumptuously forced him into retirement. The scenes that Graham visits
Lecktor in his cell are always bathed in white light. Everything is white in the cell including Lector s
clothes. For detective Graham he must check all emotions at the door before going to see Lecktor, or
else Lecktor will use those emotions against him. Manhunter s cinematographer Dante Spinotti
artistically employs particular colors to emphasize dark emotional moods and symbiotic parallels.
Green, purple, violet and magenta recur in many scenes involving Dollarhyde and Lecktor. For
instance, when Graham looks inside Lecktor s antiseptic white cell, discordant colors of green, purple
and violet appear as the camera pursues a subjective visual odyssey. The symbolism behind Lecktor s
abnormally white prison cell is that he himself, and Graham is forced to be emotionless. All
interactions between Graham and Lecktor are cold, calculated, and lacking

Penne Restad s Christmas in America is a demonstration of the change in American acceptance of

Persuasive Essay On Vegetarianism
Being vegetarian or vegan is not only beneficial to the animals that are being slaughtered but it also
beneficial to the earth and helps to reduce global warming. According to Wikipedia, there are more
than seven billion people and out of those seven billion people only three hundred and seventy five
million people are said to be vegetarian or vegan. This mass slaughter of animals and livestock is also
one of the leading causes of global warming. People may think that the earth is slowly dying but that
is not the case anymore as global warming has caught up with us. According to NASA, there are
406.94 parts per million of carbon di oxide in the atmosphere the highest it has ever been in 650000
years. The global temperature has risen by 1.7 °F and sixteen out of the seventeen warmest years on
earth have been recorded since 2001. The arctic ice minimum has decreased by 13.2% per decade and
in 2012 arctic summer sea ice shrank to the lowest extent on record. The global sea level has also
grown by 3.4 millimeters per year and the global average sea level has risen nearly 178mm over the
past 100 years. These statistics show you how quickly global warming and climate change are having
an effect on earth and who knows what the stats will be in another 50 to 100 years the earth may
become uninhabitable and humans will be the sole reason for this.
The earth has been dying slowly under our noses for many generations and we are feeling the effect of
this now and it will only get worse. The earth has been dying ever since we had the industrial
revolution so that humans could benefit and the planet could be destroyed. The polar ice caps are
melting, the weather is changing there have been months in my lifetime itself where usually it will be
cold or below a certain temperature but due to global warming I have experienced extreme heat in
months when it should not be. All of the effects of global warming have been cause by humans
Chlorofluorocarbons have been destroying the ozone layer and allowing higher level of UV rays to
penetrate the earths surface causing skin cancer and many other horrible effects to the world around

Characterization And Imagery In A White Heron By Sarah...
In the excerpt from her novel, A White Heron, Sarah Orne Jewett utilizes characterization and imagery
to dramatize her young heroine s adventure, shifting the tone from ambivalent to triumphant. Aided by
characterization and imagery, the story s initial tone is ambivalent because of the mixed emotions
Sylvia feels while climbing. Sylvia is first described as daring, She had always believed that whoever
climbed to the top of it could see the ocean... Sylvia began with the utmost bravery to mount to the top
of it . As the story develops, Sylvia s courage remains intact when climbing becomes strenuous, The
way was harder than she thought... the sharp dry twigs held her and scratched her like angry talons .
The author s use of characterization shows the reader how courageous Sylvia is. The ambivalent tone
is created through the rising tension that is described throughout Sylvia s characterization. While ...

reason to believe that the act of climbing could become difficult based on the imagery provided. In
fact, the tree s beautiful appearance almost begs Sylvia to climb it in the paling moonlight . While
climbing, however, the ambivalent tone progresses as the tree seems to stretch farther and farther most

Racism In The Color Purple
In the book, Class, the writer Paul Fussell states that if navy is the upper middle class color, purple is
the prole equivalent, and purple polyester pantsuit is the absolutely bottom . In fact, he urges the
reader to avoid purple under all circumstances . However, I m not trying to call Fussell out as a racist.
I want to point out how he details the discrimination the color purple faces, which echoes to the
discrimination black people face in the 20th century. As the color purple is the closest representation
of Black American s complexion. On the black to white gradient, purple is the color closest to black. If
we think of what the transition emerged from the color black conveys, we need to put the color under
a social and cultural context. If we see Black Africans as black, White people as white, then purple
matches Black Americans in this analogy. Steven Spielberg s movie adaption of The Color Purple uses
color to indicate Black Americans historical attempt to make a transition to White people. In the
movie, the colors are encoded with deeper meanings. The color white represents the oppression, while
black represents the oppressed. The blacker it is, the more oppressed it signifies. There is a detail that
can be easily overlooked the old Mr. Johnson has rather pale complexion as a black person. From the
presentation of him being almost white, we can infer that the erosive influence White people have on
Black people s mind and body. Mr.___ in the movie lives

The Pros And Cons Of Sex Trafficking
In 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, or TVPA, was passed to identify severe forms of
human trafficking, create harsh criminal penalties for offenders and provide support for victims. The
TVPA defines sex trafficking as a situation in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud,
or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age ( How
Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). The inclusion of the word coercion means that a commercial sex act can
be classified as sex trafficking as long as a victim is coerced or intimidated. The organization Fight the
New Drug identifies that there are often instances in the porn industry where the actor or actress is
threatened with lawsuits or charges ( How Porn Fuels Sex Trafficking ). Human trafficking isn t the
only illegal industry fueled by sexual violence and exploitation. The wide spread availability of
cameras in devices such as portable cameras and cell phones has made it easier to take secret
recordings of another s intimate body parts and other sexually explicit material without the individuals
consent or knowledge. Growing internet access has facilitated the nonconsensual distribution of those
images but the criminal laws in the United States have not stayed up to date with these developments.
Because of this, victims of revenge porn and nonconsensual pornography do not have adequate means
to seek justice. In a study conducted by Cynthia Najdowski at the University

The Electric Ant By Philip K. Dick
What Am I ?
The Electric Ant is a science fiction short story written by Philip K. Dick and published in 1969. In
this setting, the story takes place in a distant alternative universe. Mankind s identity and freedom are
being questioned in this futuristic society. Indeed, the plot explores the identity of a protagonist who
has been disconnected from reality after an accident, by being transformed into an organic robot. A
being that is no longer human despite having the skin, the flesh and the physical body of a man. The
story focuses on the shift of reality perceived by an organic robot. It brings us a closer look at how the
perspective of reality is approached from the point of view of a sub social class. As the story goes ...

Even he mentioned the fact that he no longer belongs to the human race as mentioned: A slave, Poole
said. A mechanical slave. [...] I ve lived a good live, Poole said. I ve worked hard. This simply shows
how the main protagonist lost all interest of returning to how things used to be. He accepts what is
currently expected of him. Poole is positioned into an artificial body that can be replaced at any time.
He has lost his individuality and freedom. As the story goes on, it follows the complex development of
the protagonist. Another form of displacement of identity is formed when Poole realizes his whole
existence is dictated by a simple gadget installed in his body. He is not free in the world he is living in
as demonstrated in the story.

represents mankind s obedience towards the powerful people in society residing at the top of the

Globalization Has Brought Changes Into The Business World
Globalization has brought changes into the business world. Organizations are taking advantage of the

First Generation Sequencing ( Ngs ) Technologies
Advances in next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies have offered new and practical
approaches for crop breeding; 1) whole genome resequencing (WGR), 2) genotyping by sequencing
(GBS), 3) genome wide association studies (GWAS), and 4) genome editing technologies (GET). The
cost and time for sequencing and genotyping have continuously and dramatically decreased by the
developments of diverse high throughput platforms. The extensive production and active utilization of
genomic resources including genomics tools and resources for crop breeding programs created a new
term, genomics assisted breeding (GAB) (Varshney et al. 2005). The landscape of soybean breeding
programs has been accelerated along with advance in the genomic era. Advances in NGS technologies
have taken the implementation of SNPs for genomic and genetic studies and NGS has become a
turning point for next generation breeding programs due to its reduced sequencing cost (Kim et al.
2016).
Whole genome resequencing (WGR)
Resequencing of elite cultivars, landraces, and wild genotypes based on the Williams 82 reference
genome sequence (Schmutz et al. 2010) has become an important tool to study allelic variation,
domestication events, allele diversification at candidate gene loci (Chung et al. 2014; Kim et al. 2010;
Lam et al. 2011). As a good example of WGR approach for nematode resistance in soybean, Xu et al.

During negotiations no party wants to show any signs of weakness which will lead to stress and
deadlocks between the two parties and therefore intensifies the dispute, leading to litigations. This is
what has happened in your case as it has led to you wanting to take them to court and claiming £3500
where as if they had just fixed the slight problem both parties would be content and it would have cost
a lot less to fix the problem on the BMW 3 Series. This is why we were advising mediation as a
mediator would suggest these different ideas, which will be beneficial for both parties.
In negotiations there is a fine line between withholding to much information and giving to much
information away. Withholding to much information will cause frustration for both parties as neither
side wants to break and give anything away. However giving to much information away puts you on
the back foot if the dispute goes to court the party might will be at a disadvantage.
Unlike Mediation, negotiations are not confidential and therefore both parties can give away too much
information which can all be used in court as counter evidence which therefore can be used against
you, fortunately the damages you seek to recover have stayed relatively constant throughout the
information I have seen, furthermore it is not a huge amount more than the car its self, meaning that

  • 2. Weapons Of Mass Destruction In Iraq However, in the months following this Resolution, evidence to suggest Iraq s non compliance concerning the removal or destruction of Weapons of Mass Destruction could not be verified through the United Nations. Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei were still investigating when the United States declared war, however, prior to the declaration, they reported no evidence of non compliance. Colin Powell s plea to the UN to sanction the use of armed force was not obliged, in response to this in March 2003, the United States claimed diplomacy had failed, thus the only rational course of action was toppling Saddam s regime. The United States had attempted to acquire a UN sanctioned invasion but failed to do so. This begs the question; why did the United States use an argument that cited UNSCRs, yet themselves, fail to comply with United Nations demands? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The answer to this is, of course, change the argument. Prior to the invasion, the United States declared the war an act of pre emption, based on shaky evidence that they were unwilling to corroborate. The United States claimed that Saddam had Weapons of Mass Destruction, and also colluded with terrorist organizations. Considering this, the United States felt that it was imperative that they topple the regime in order to safeguard the country from an attack by either Saddam or by terrorists backed by ... • 3. The Similarities Of The Flood Characters Of Gilgamesh And... Though Gilgamesh and Genesis are completely different stories, they both contain flood narratives that have similarities and differences within each. The three comparable points in these texts deal with the gods and heroes of the stories. First the gods in these narratives all have a specific reason behind their decision to wipe out mankind. Second the unique characteristics of the heroes or survivors of the flood are shown throughout the events of the texts. Finally the gods who bring these floods upon earth all reveal their qualities through their actions against humanity. These three topics relate from one book to another in many ways. Before each of the floods there are reasons that each god decides to eliminate the people on earth. In Gilgamesh the god Enlil chooses to destroy humanity with a flood because it is the best way to get rid of the individuals who have sinned. After the flood the god Ea says Let him who has performed an evil act be punished for that act. Let not the flood be brought down on the heads of all for what one man has done... (Ferry 74). This statement shows how Enlil punished all of mankind when most of them weren t to blame. On the contrary, in Genesis Gods motive for destroying humanity with a flood is that the world was turning evil and cruel, which was not what God intended. God s thoughts are shown through the following quote The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his ... • 4. Case Write-Up Trader Joe s Essay examples How do firms in the supermarket industry make money? Operating on very thin profit margins, players in the supermarket industry traditionally either focus on a premium segment or follow a discounter strategy at the low end. Premium players address educated and more price elastic consumers who value healthy, natural and organic food; the share of perishable items for these players is normally distinctly higher. Players that focus on a discounter strategy offer a higher share of simple necessity items and value price competitiveness over premium features like healthiness or organic origin. Independently of the focused customer group it is imperative for players in the supermarket industry to be cost efficient and optimize operations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thirdly, Trader Joe s stores are small and located in non prime locations, which holds fixed operating costs at bay. Furthermore, the company is able to generate the industry s highest sales per square feet in its small sized stores. In an effort to diversify from its competitors, Trader Joe s also relies on a non traditional marketing strategy. Completely neglecting conventional marketing techniques like commercials or promotional offers, the company focuses on unique and store specific in store marketing with its newsletter and the occasional radio ad being its major means of communication with its customers. The Trader Joe s brand with its vast fan base is naturally another part of the company s competitive advantage. What are the main threads to Trader Joe s competitive advantage? Is the company s competitive advantage sustainable? Trader Joe s faces several threats to its business, as competitors try to invade the company s niche and attempt to imitate the company s core strategies. The supermarket industry itself faces a major threat, as larger chains such as grocery retailers Wal Mart and Tesco have begun to open small format stores that mimic the Trader Joe s approach. This invasion results in additional cost pressure for incumbents like Trader Joe s, which had to let go employees in order to become more cost competitive. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tattoos and Criminal Behavior Essay Introduction The ancient practice of tattooing, once considered a trademark of social outcasts and criminals, has steered back into mainstream culture at an alarming rate (Irwin 2001, Swan 2006). In western society, tattoos are often associated with antisocial behaviour. In 1895, Cesare Lombroso concluded in his study that the art of tattooing is most commonly found on the bodies of criminals (Putnins 2002). The frequency of tattoo are predicted to be found at higher rates in criminal subcultures than in the general public. • 10. The Importance Of Organ Donation Over the past several years, the argument of whether or not compensating donors is ethical and financially benefitting for everyone has been heavily debated. The interest for life saving organ donation has such little supply that the doctors of waiting patients are so desperate that they believe compensation is their only option. Enhanced survival rates combined with unfaltering development of signs for transplantation make the organ deficiency progressively severe; waiting times are now deplorably long. In order to cut the waiting period, compensating donors will promote more individuals to become donors. Although there are many people who disagree with the idea to compensate donors, people who donate their kidneys should be compensated because more individuals will be drawn to donate their kidneys in return for monetary value. Additionally, donors should be compensated because they are giving an organ from their body part away. Individuals and their families pay for dialysis each year hoping they will be chosen to receive the next available organ they have been longing for. These individuals often do not think about how they could be paying a donor for a much lower price instead of dialysis which does not guarantee the organ you desire. The interest for organ donation has reliably surpassed supply, and the large gap between the quantity of recipients on the waiting list and the quantity of donors has increased. Dulce Et Decorum Est Patriotism Essay When warfare demands allegiance from a multitude of soldiers, a person might expect the soldiers to display heroism and nobility; however, when the world is stricken with this warfare disease, the troops might possess contradicting feelings especially when they are actually on the battlefield. In Wilfred Owen s poem Dulce et Decorum Est, the reality of patriotism is illustrated through conflict and graphic imagery, and it is realized that a soldier s portrayal of patriotism is filled with a harsh reality of suffering from the things seen, heard, and felt over the course of a war. • 14. Theme Of Sacrifice In Hamlet As the great American journalist Norman Cousins once said, The tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live. Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, it is a commonly held belief that the play is a legendary tragedy because most of the characters fall to their deaths. Indeed, when Hamlet is analysed, many characters throughout the play meet their own demise which helps advance this theme. However, when a closer look is taken, it becomes apparent that the tragedy of Hamlet truly lies in how the characters live their lives. For instance, when Polonius orders Ophelia to cut off all contact with her lover Ophelia agrees to follow her father s orders saying, I shall obey, my lord. (1.3.141). Ophelia s response can be seen as her acceptance towards the restrictions placed on her by her father. In doing so, Ophelia displays that her weakness lies in her lack of assertiveness and willpower. By not opposing her father and expressing her own opinions, she is following the stereotype of submission and obedience placed on women during Shakespeare s time. Ophelia s betrayal of Hamlet is another decision that leads to her downfall. When Ophelia is asked by Polonius to spy on Hamlet, she obliges and attempts to deceive him. When Hamlet asks her where her father is, she shows her betrayal by lying, claiming that Polonius is at home my lord (3.1.142). By agreeing to spy on Hamlet, Ophelia becomes no different than everyone else who betrays Hamlet throughout the play. In its desperate hunt for oil in the mid to late 20th century, the US government tried to secure its interests in the oil rich Middle Eastern states, in some cases, creating wars and problems that have lasted decades. In 1953, the CIA helped overthrow Iran s democratically elected Prime Minister, Mohammed Mossadeq, and replaced him with Shah Reza Pahlavi, who supported American oil interests in Iran. In 1979, the Iranian people overcame the Shah, and in response, the US, UN, and other western countries, imposed multiple sanctions against Iran, deeply hurting the country s economy and people. Now though, more than 30 years later, the US and Iran may be brought together by a common enemy of ISIS; an Islamic militant group based in Northern Iraq and Syria, that has been violently attacking Westerners, and people of religions other than Sunni Muslim. The US should take this opportunity to mend diplomatic relations with Iran, because Iran cannot singularly be blamed for the actions that caused a cooling of relations. The present association and mutuality of the two countries is rare, and Iran can help America s interests in the Middle East. If we think of what the transition emerged from the color black conveys, we need to put the color under a social and cultural context. Human trafficking isn t the only illegal industry fueled by sexual violence and exploitation. Growing internet access has facilitated the nonconsensual distribution of those images but the criminal laws in the United States have not stayed up to date with these developments. Because of this, victims of revenge porn and nonconsensual pornography do not have adequate means to seek justice. In a study conducted by Cynthia Najdowski at the University ... • 32. The Electric Ant By Philip K. Dick What Am I ? The Electric Ant is a science fiction short story written by Philip K. Dick and published in 1969. In this setting, the story takes place in a distant alternative universe. Mankind s identity and freedom are being questioned in this futuristic society. Indeed, the plot explores the identity of a protagonist who has been disconnected from reality after an accident, by being transformed into an organic robot. A being that is no longer human despite having the skin, the flesh and the physical body of a man. The story focuses on the shift of reality perceived by an organic robot. It brings us a closer look at how the perspective of reality is approached from the point of view of a sub social class. As the story goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, Poole fell from the top of the hierarchy as a successful man to the bottom as an organic robot. He now belongs underneath the status of human and he needs to find a purpose in life. Even he mentioned the fact that he no longer belongs to the human race as mentioned: A slave, Poole said. A mechanical slave. [...] I ve lived a good live, Poole said. I ve worked hard. This simply shows how the main protagonist lost all interest of returning to how things used to be. He accepts what is currently expected of him. Poole is positioned into an artificial body that can be replaced at any time. He has lost his individuality and freedom. As the story goes on, it follows the complex development of the protagonist. Another form of displacement of identity is formed when Poole realizes his whole existence is dictated by a simple gadget installed in his body. He is not free in the world he is living in as demonstrated in the story. In me somewhere, he thought, there is a matrix fitted in place, a grid screen that cuts me off from certain thoughts. Certain actions. And forces me into others. I am not free. I never was, but now I know it; that makes it different. The chip inserted in his body is restricting the protagonist from certain thoughts and certain actions. It represents mankind s obedience towards the powerful people in society residing at the top of the hierarchy. In other words, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. First Generation Sequencing ( Ngs ) Technologies Advances in next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies have offered new and practical approaches for crop breeding; 1) whole genome resequencing (WGR), 2) genotyping by sequencing (GBS), 3) genome wide association studies (GWAS), and 4) genome editing technologies (GET). The cost and time for sequencing and genotyping have continuously and dramatically decreased by the developments of diverse high throughput platforms. The extensive production and active utilization of genomic resources including genomics tools and resources for crop breeding programs created a new term, genomics assisted breeding (GAB) (Varshney et al. 2005). The landscape of soybean breeding programs has been accelerated along with advance in the genomic era. Advances in NGS technologies have taken the implementation of SNPs for genomic and genetic studies and NGS has become a turning point for next generation breeding programs due to its reduced sequencing cost (Kim et al. 2016). Whole genome resequencing (WGR) Resequencing of elite cultivars, landraces, and wild genotypes based on the Williams 82 reference genome sequence (Schmutz et al. 2010) has become an important tool to study allelic variation, domestication events, allele diversification at candidate gene loci (Chung et al. 2014; Kim et al. 2010; Lam et al. 2011). As a good example of WGR approach for nematode resistance in soybean, Xu et al. (2013) identified two RKN candidate genes in 29.7 kb interval through the resequencing of 246 ... During negotiations no party wants to show any signs of weakness which will lead to stress and deadlocks between the two parties and therefore intensifies the dispute, leading to litigations. This is what has happened in your case as it has led to you wanting to take them to court and claiming £3500 where as if they had just fixed the slight problem both parties would be content and it would have cost a lot less to fix the problem on the BMW 3 Series. This is why we were advising mediation as a mediator would suggest these different ideas, which will be beneficial for both parties. In negotiations there is a fine line between withholding to much information and giving to much information away. Withholding to much information will cause frustration for both parties as neither side wants to break and give anything away. However giving to much information away puts you on the back foot if the dispute goes to court the party might will be at a disadvantage. Unlike Mediation, negotiations are not confidential and therefore both parties can give away too much information which can all be used in court as counter evidence which therefore can be used against you, fortunately the damages you seek to recover have stayed relatively constant throughout the information I have seen, furthermore it is not a huge amount more than the car its self, meaning that the it is ...
